I’m worried about the new TS album bc from the title & cover it’s giving very folklore/evermore vibes… there’s a reason why I haven’t listened to those albums…

I’m noticing a trend that most people keep saying that they fell back into TS’s music during lover, folklore, or evermore when-thanks to Joe-she was at her most mature stage lyrically. She was finally self aware and seemed to understand that some of her critics were valid and she wasn’t this perfect pop princess. But without Joe it all fell apart. The facade ended. She was never self aware or mature-Joe was. She ruined her reputation and whether swifties like it or not, Joe revived it and brought her career back to new heights with a different and more adult audience. Hell, I’ll even admit that midnights was more mature and self aware than TTPD. The friendship bracelets were totally marketable and capitalistic of her but I’ll give props were it’s due- it was brilliant and united people through nostalgia which I loved. The problem is she got greedy fast and forgot the persona she put out before with Joe and he wanted to no parts that life and she dropped him and that personality and went back to the only thing she’s ever known-that same mean girl, drama craving, attention seeking nasty high school cliché attitude and it’s reflected in TTPD. So now all of her mature audience is leaving because no one came back for that cattiness, people gave her a chance because they thought she changed but nope
all her mature audience is leaving– exactly! we were drawn to her because of the maturity and characteristic growth she showed in the first place. but that persona remained for so long only to keep joe. It was all his impact, but as soon as he left she started being that old fame obsessed woman again. this time much worse honestly!

NEW JEANS WITH A SWIFTIE S/O + NEW JEANS AS SWIFTIES I
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARNINGS; PART 1 new jeans x swiftie!reader, minji x fem! reader, hanni x fem reader, mentions of Taylor Swift, pet names, the girls having a crush on you, fluff, cringe, english is not my first language, i love you taylor
KIM MINJI WC: 295
Before you, Minji used to only listen to some of Taylor’s songs- the big hits and a few here and there between albums.
But the moment she found out that you were a Swiftie, she started learning some facts about Taylor and her music and listened to Taylor's discography, asking you for some song recommendations.
She would give you flirty compliments, mentioning how she thinks of you when she hears songs like "Lover," "Gorgeous," and "Sparks Fly" – you know, the whole playlist.
Minji showed up unexpectedly at your house with your favorite snacks and a teddy bear wearing a blouse that said "I LOVE TS." She asked if you would like to watch "Miss Americana."
This became a thing for the two of you. After watching Taylor's documentary, you decided to surprise Minji at her dorm with some flowers that you bought for her at the market.
When you knocked on the dorm door, a very sleepy Minji opened it. She was in her pajamas, her hair a little bit messy, and she was holding her phone. She looked incredibly cute.
"Hey, sleepyhead," you laughed at the pretty girl in front of you. When Minji yawned, she gasped upon seeing her crush at her door. Minji blushed and just smiled at you. "What... what are you doing here?" she asked, trying to fix her hair.
"Do you want me to leave?" you said, faking sadness in your voice and pretending to turn around. "No!" Minji quickly said as she grabbed your arm. "I'm just surprised you're here, surprised but happy," she smiled.
You laughed at her. "Well, I came here so we could watch the Reputation Stadium Tour. Since you surprised me last time with Miss Americana, I thought it was only fair for me to come here."
Minji blushed. She had already watched the Reputation Stadium Tour and the Folklore sessions so that she could learn more about Taylor for you.
"I would love to," she said. "Why don't you wait for me on the sofa while I make us some popcorn?" Minji offered.
You have liked Minji for some time now. You loved her smile, her hugs, and how she never made you feel silly about the things you liked. You loved how she would encourage you to keep talking about the things you enjoy.
"So that's why Taylor is re-recording her first six albums," Minji asked you what was your favorite song on ‘Fearless’ but somehow, the conversation ended up with you giving her a full biography of Taylor.
You looked down at Minji, and she was looking at you with full attention, her puppy eyes wide, and her mouth slightly open.
"I'm sorry," you said, turning away in embarrassment. "Why?" Minji said, sounding worried. "I... I know that I talk a lot, and you don't have to listen. I just thought you would want to know since you ask so many things about Taylor. But I understand if you're tired of listening to me-"
"What? No! I love it when you talk about things you like! You look so cute when you're focused on something," your friend Minji said.
You blushed at her words. "Really? You don't mind?" you asked shyly. Minji nodded with a big smile.
"Positive," she said, kissing your cheek. "And let me tell you this, Scooter Braun is such a bitch!" You laughed at Minji's curse.
Minji would ask you to be her girlfriend in a romantic Swiftie way. She would search for inspiration online and ask her friends for help decorating the place.
The moment you entered Minji's dorm, pink and golden confetti fell to the ground. You could hear Minji's bandmates screaming and giggling, and when you looked up, you found Minji holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers while "Mine" by Taylor Swift started playing in the background.
You guys song: Mine and How you get the girl.

HANNI PHAM WC: 343
BIG SWIFTIE
You knew Hanni, but you guys weren't close. She took a few of your classes, but you never really talked.
Sometimes she said hi to you, and sometimes you said hi to her. You guys smiled when you saw each other and those things.
Until one day, Hanni was running late to class and she bumped into you. "I'm sorry!" Hanni said, kneeling to help you pick up the things she accidentally made you drop.
There were some drawings, your notes, a pencil case, and some notebooks. While she was helping you, she saw a drawing.
She would recognize those blue orbit eyes and that blonde hair anywhere! It was a detailed and awesome Taylor Swift drawing!
"It's not your fault. I wasn't looking either," you said shyly to the black-haired girl kneeling to help you.
"Mhm, here," said Hanni, passing you the pretty drawing. You blushed at the picture. You never showed your drawings to anyone, so you were kind of embarrassed.
"Really pretty, lovely drawing," Hanni said with a smile. You took the drawing softly and got up in a swift movement, murmuring a "Bye" and walking in the opposite direction.
Hanni couldn't help but notice the friendship bracelet you were wearing.
It was a pretty pink one that said "The Archer." The bracelet had some details of Taylor's songs, and Hanni thought it was the cutest thing ever.
Now that she knew that there was another Swiftie among us, she started to pay more attention to you.
She noticed the pins on your backpack that were all Taylor's albums. She also noticed how your phone case was full of Taylor-related stickers, and she once saw you with the folklore cardigan!
Hanni was excited but didn't know how to get close to you.
So one day, she made a plan. It all started when she heard that a local park was projecting The Reputation Stadium Tour! The odds were in her favor.
She was going to invite you! She would buy some snacks and she would bring her Lover-themed towel so you guys could sit on the floor. She was going to tell you to wear the Cardigan since she had the red one! That way you guys could match.
Hanni took a few breaths before walking towards your table. It was lunchtime, so she thought it was the perfect time.
"Hi! Yn, I'm Hanni. I take French and history with you," she introduced herself first, but she knew you knew who she was. It was for politeness.
You looked up from your phone, and Hanni could see Taylor as your wallpaper. She almost giggled about it since she had the same picture as her lock screen.
"Oh, Hi Hanni" you knew who she was. Hanni laughed and prepared to say the words.
"I was thinking if you wanted to go and see a movie with me," she said, her big smile widening even more when the words left her mouth.
You blushed and opened your eyes even wider if that was possible. Hanni, your halfway crush, was inviting you to hang out with her! "I-I'd love to," Hanni felt a weight off her shoulders at your answer.
"They're playing one of my favorites in this park," she gave you the directions to the park, and you wrote them down.
"It's next Friday at 6 pm. I can come and get you, and we'll walk together if you like," Hanni said. You nodded shyly.
"What movie are they playing?" you said, making eye contact with the short girl.
"Reputation Stadium Tour," you almost fell from your seat.
"Really?!" you asked excitedly. Hanni smiled at you. "Yes! I thought you would like it!"
"I love it. Thank you for inviting me, Hanni," you said, wanting to hug Hanni out of excitement.
“I should be the one who's thanking you since accepted to go on a date with me”
You blushed at Hanni’s words. A date? You couldn't believe your ears, Hanni Pham just invited you on a date!
“Is going to be the best date ever” you said smiling at her. “Mhm, I’ll text you my address, give me your number,” You said handing your phone to Hanni.
Your hands touched Hanni’s and you felt a sparkle through the action. “I love your bracelet,” said Hanni while adding her number to your contact list.
“Do you want to exchange it?” you ask as you notice her wrist decorated with a blue friendship bracelet.
Hanni wanted to scream with excitement.
You guys song: King of My Heart and Holy ground

How to get sleep paralysis to enter the void or just to experience sleep paralysis
A little story
Ever since I was young I've experienced sleep paralysis so I'm a master at ts it's honestly so easy to get but I was so shocked that not everyone experienced it in their lives it made me go why do they come after me lemme tell you how to get it babes in different ways this ain't for the weak I used to pray them away I'm an atheist now and I learned they were real yes real but they can't do anything to you at all yes you'll feel a scratch even at one point mines decided hey lets take her to hell they took me and the bed so i can say I've been to hell and back lol
1: when you're in the stage of drifting off in sleep think of something evil or bad scare yourself when it comes you will be put in sleep paralysis and won't be able to move during this the rest of your body is basically asleep but your mind is awake that's how I forced my sleep paralysis demons off of me and back where they came from my mind this a good time instead of telling them to leave you alone say take me to the void or just affirm you're there
2: watch a scary movie before bed and remember some of the parts that scared you remember it over and over so when you go off to sleep you'd attract sleep paralysis and do exactly as I said in paragraph 1 to get to the void
3: stress whether it's school or work if you have enough stress when you fall asleep you can attract sleep paralysis
4: anger I cussed a teacher' out one day at school went off on the principal went home and the sleep paralysis demon got me well deserved by the way
5: frequency listen to frequency to induce it before bed
6: watch a trippy effect crazy video might work lol before bed obviously
7: when you wake up at 3 am of course you're going to go to sleep but think it's your sleep paralysis demon waiting for you to sleep so when you go back they get you
8: think of the devil like I said I'm atheist but before that it was so bad to the point I couldn't stop repeating devil in my head I feared the devil so much and he brought my demons
9: African American folklore we have something called the witch (I'm from the south) i believed she was real she manifest in sleep paralysis and yes she rode my back like how my granny told me granny said not to be bad the witch will ride you and don't sing while laying down you can try to do this but you have to believe she real we also had something called gremlins similar to Mexican duendes
Do all of this when the sleep yawn hits hell even affirm I have sleep paralysis a demon is about to get me I call upon a sleep paralysis demon or some sht
Also keep your eyes closed Ian never seen a sleep paralysis demon cuz Ian opening my eyes they be up on the roof yes I hear them leave just letting y'all know this so you won't get scared
Do not attempt if you're afraid of sleep paralysis they don't run nun here but feeding off your fear

Just realized Taylor says in Carolina "Oh, Carolina knows why for years they've said that I was guilty as sin and sleep in a liars bed". Guilty as sin? In the tracklist. "But sleep comes fast, and I'll meet no ghosts", also from Carolina. From the TTPD album product page: comes with 2 ghosted white vinyls". Two Ghosts! If you listen to Carolina from a Haylor perspective...a lot of things seem to be coming together. Could there be a link there on the album?
Holy crap awesome catch!! I was already looking at this song as a potential Haylor song cause it’s a question. HS has a song called Carolina also (not about TS).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first saw the Ghosted vinyl Two Ghosts was the first thing that popped into my head.
The song came out June 24th, 2022 so she probably wrote it when she was writing TTPD.
I’m not the best at song interpretation & she wrote it for a movie but she could have drawn inspiration from real life like she did with folklore.

just curious what you mean about your idol becoming what she used to sing about? what do you think has changed? no hate just genuinely curious
i feel like over the years her music has become more jaded, less personable more targeted. she used to sing about her experiences and feelings more generally and therefore held more interest bc of the relatability aspect of her songs. like for all the ogs which i may still listen to she had so much intent in the songwriting. like, as a teenager i never went through a breakup (still haven’t?) so i could never relate to her breakup songs in a traditional way- but the way she would write about her feelings would still feel relatable to me enough to help me through different situations.
i feel like now she writes to complete and album. she knows she can bullshit something quick is she’s motivated enough. it feels like midnights was a first draft- like it was never edited and perfected it was just written, recorded and produced. done.
i also feel like her fanbase has a lot to do with it. i think when folklore was released, she had disappeared from the spotlight long enough for the general public to forget why they were so against her to begin with. i think taylor made her dating life a main highlight in her career (whether that was on purpose is another debate), so when she got with joe and went private for a bit the general public weren’t being plastered w ts/ bf gossip and sightings to annoy them and remind them of her “serial dater” reputation. and when folklore came out it was purely about the album and not the relationship that influenced the album bc it was “fictional,” and people needed something fun to transfix on when the world was unpredictable and scary bc of covid- which is why everyone and their mom became a swiftie overnight. nobody speculated about what song was about who (i mean swifties did ofc but it wasn’t a world wide thing- it was just rocking out to august). the internet definitely shifted during this time and it feels like everyone became chronically online.
long story short: i feel like taylor is using her songwriter and platform as a weapon. she knows her fans are weirdly cult like and notoriously known for being bullies on the internet, and that they’ll buy and believe anything she says. i think everyone will be expecting a folklore- likeness to ttpd but i think it’ll be a cheap way of blowing over her relationship with joe and changing the narrative for rep tv. overall it just feels like all of her songwriter is so personal to her life and her relationships it’s not relatable anymore, her words don’t have the impact they once did. everything feels tailored to her life specifically and it’s more of a show for swifties to make pick up easter eggs for clout on the internet. like she knows what she’s doing with ttpd, we all know.
it’s evident in the way she markets herself, it’s evident in the lack of marketing of her albums. she knows her fans will promote it for her. no lead single, no real description of the album or anything. hundreds of dollars of encouraged preorders for something you don’t even know if you’ll like until you buy it. fucked with umg to try to return it if you don’t. fomo if you missed out on an “exclusive” or “limited” item.
also just the whole miss americana thing she’s ignoring. we all heard her. she said she wanted to be on the right side of history. yet here she is politically silent as always- besides that one time in 2020 when she coincidentally had something to release….
(also unrelated….but like the taylor overexposure is real. i love that she’s interested in doing different things but i wish she would prioritize quality over quantity. it feels like she’s rushing through everything to get to the next one. i just wish she would care more about her art than breaking records and being #1/ talked about constantly. it just feels very….narcissistic? like girlie you’re a billionaire and youre still in your early thirties what are you trying to do??? be the first person to sing on the moon like??? when is it Enough for her?)

Midnights vs Daylight
Thoughts on TS Midnights title and promotion (This will tie into my ‘Thoughts on the Eras tour’ theories)
I think we can all agree that folklore and evermore were pandemic products. If there had been no pandemic, it stands to reason that Lover would have led directly into Midnights (especially with the way the re-recording process has inspired this album). And that’s interesting because Lover was originally meant to be titled Daylight.
So instead of getting an album called Daylight, we now have an album called Midnights, the polar opposite. Could that be because daylight never came after all and she’s stuck in an eternal night?
Midnights announcement and visuals
In the midnights announcement on socials, we got two images: the cover of Taylor holding the lighter, and the image under the announcement text from the promo photo shoot. Immediately, these two do not look like they are front and back of the same album. The cover image on white background has a modern classy but glamourous tone to it, and the announcement photo has a depressed 70s vibe. So the duality here is not hidden, and that confused me at first, but I do think this is deliberate and once we got the Anti Hero mv, it became clear why:
Midnights is about hiding your true self in favour of protecting a beloved public image and Taylor has perfected this to such a degree that her public and private personas have become two separate entities battling each other until they finally learn to co-exist, as we see in the two Taylors in the mv. One is the quiet contemplative one, the other is the loud party girl. One writes the songs, the other is the performer. One is the trusting people pleaser, the other knows that everyone will betray her. These two Taylors and their differences are the overarching theme of the video, and that theme carries over into the dichotomy of the midnights album style: Private vs public
Tumblr media
Front: She’s wearing her glittery stage make up here so while we can’t see her outfit, I do think this is meant to be the performer Taylor. She’s holding the lighter open and looking at the flame, which to me feels a bit threatening, like she’s poured the fuel and is about to drop a match into it. And what did performance Taylor do this year on tour? Ah yes…burn the Lover house. (More on that HERE if you haven’t read my lover house theory). We should have seen it coming 😊
Back: The second image has even more to unpack, both in the photo and the text. I wasn’t a gaylor on the internet back in 2022 so forgive me if I’m repeating what other people have already pointed out. Taylor is inside with the curtains drawn, blocking out the outside world, looking hopeless with her head in her hand and phone in the other. The old phone could be a reference to the one she uses in the Anti Hero mv to call for help, so maybe she’s trying to call for help here and no one is answering. Or it could be a nod to the red phone from MMWM which many have pointed out could be a reference to the ‘red telephone’ Moscow-Washington hotline during Soviet times, which was used to deliver encoded messages. I like this interpretation, because the way she’s holding the receiver looking so devastated really gives me the vibe of someone who’s been on the phone with a person for ages who is just not getting the message. Almost like someone whose constant flags and encoded messages are falling on deaf ears (to a large majority)… I’ve also noticed that there is a framed photo of two people on the table in this house where she supposedly paces the floors alone at night, but can’t really make out enough to say anything more than that.
Now for the text: I’m by no means the first person to point out that the ‘lanterns lit… out searching’ is from one of Emily Dickinson’s letters to her lover Sue which seems a fitting comparison for Taylor, the writer of many lyrical love letters to her muse and lover. But what really gets me is the sentence
‘Just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.’ Why the ellipse? The sentence would have made perfect sense without this, so why add that deliberate suspense?  What happens when the clock strikes 12? In the following months we also got the ‘it’s a clock’ video announcing that the four midnights vinyl covers together make a clock, and then the Eras tour literally starts with a countdown to midnight. Clocks ticking down to 12 are also in both the Bejewelled and Karma mv, so safe to say this means something. The obvious one is the Cinderella connection, which was probably an Easter egg for the Bejewelled mv, but if that’s all it was then it could have stopped after the video was out. Notably also, Cinderella’s party ends at midnight, whereas Taylor’s starts both in the mv and on tour. Midnight is the first minute of a new day, so this seems a lot more about new beginnings for me, than eternal darkness. I’ve pointed out in a previous post that Taylor references the song ‘Naughty’ from Matilda the musical in her Eras tour performance of Anti Hero. That song not only references Cinderella heavily, it also includes the lyrics ‘Every day starts with a tick of a clock/ All escapes start with the click of a lock.’ So… interesting that the announcement post mentions both ticking clocks and cages. Is she escaping from her self-made cage at the strike of midnight? Which brings us to the final, but very loaded, sentence of the announcement.
Meet ME! At Midnight
Before you come at me, yes I know, that’s not how it’s written. It’s meet me, not ME!, but that would be first and foremost, way too obvious, wouldn’t it. I still think that this is where she is taking us with this sentence, back to the beginning of the Lover era, the dawn of daylight, if you will. If you need a reminder, ME! was the first single off of Lover and kickstarted the sunshine and rainbows parade that was meant to be her coming out with the glorious ME! OUT NOW post on Lesbian Visibility Day in April 2019. This whole summer has felt strangely similar to that, with cruel summer becoming a single and playing endlessly on the radio, Taylor being unashamedly queer in public and surrounding herself with other queer artists, gaylor discourse in mainstream media outlets, and then of course, Karlie Kloss of all people showing up to the last LA show. The congratulatory comments under GLAAD’s instagram post from the VMAs felt much the same to me as the ones under TN’s post of the ‘proud’ bracelet back in 2019. The people that get it, get it. We are officially in the soft launch period.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, is there going to be a hard launch? Maybe. With all this open queerness I could totally see her just gradually turning it up until she gets photographed kissing a woman in public one day and it’ll just be a case of ‘deadass thought I made it obvious’… But the lesson from the 2019 (not so soft) soft launch was that a lot of people would still rather default to accusations of queerbaiting than assume that she is queer herself (as shown by what happened to Kit Connor last year), and I’m sure she wouldn’t want that again. For that reason, and the fact that she did have a plan to explicitly come out in the past, I think she may have another go in the future, whatever form that may take. One thing I will say, as it ties into this midnights to daylight theme, is this:
With all this clock/countdown imagery, it is notable that the three different versions we have so far of the midnights album are all chronological on a clock. Starting at the top, we have midnights, then the 3am edition, then ‘dawn’ which is around 6am, so to complete the circle we’d need a 9am (or near enough) version. I know that seems unlikely, as 9am is definitely morning and not night anymore, but maybe that’s the point, that at the end of midnights we have a daylight version. ‘You’re loosing me’ is still not officially out on streaming so there is a glimmer of hope that maybe one more version is coming.
What era are we actually in…?
It’s hard to remember that we are actually still in the midnights era with all the re-releases stealing the show and the throwback to lover with cruel summer. But given that the masters heist foiled her plans to come out and made Daylight into Lover, it makes total sense that the 'midnights to daylight' era is the one that includes those important re-releases to further this journey.
She has made so many positive changes and additions to these ‘Taylor’s versions’ that I think it’s just as much about owning her work, as it is about owning the narrative she puts out there. And on that note, it may not be a coincidence that the titles that Taylor has left to reclaim now are her birth year, her name and her reputation, all things that are intrinsically linked to her, and she has arguably never been more authentically queer out in the open. I’m not saying these next three re-releases are suddenly going to have she/her pronouns, but they may have vault tracks that would never have made the cut back in the day. And if we thought the 2017 version of rep was already unbelievably gay… I won’t make any predictions for the tv, but I have high hopes.😊 And I still think that if we end with debut (tv) in June 2024 (Pride month), then ‘TAYLOR SWIFT OUT NOW’ isn’t looking too far-fetched.  And I recon if I was putting out something called MY version of MY name, I'd want to make sure that it absolutely reflects who I am. It did surprise me initially that debut wasn't the first album to be re-released and it's in fact now looking likely to be the last one, but it makes sense if she is using it as an opportunity to go back to the beginning and re-write the story. What a boss move that would be: ‘My version of ME, OUT NOW’ and maybe she really means it this time.
My prediction is, that the end of the midnights era will also be the end of the re-releases (some time next year) and with the final one we end the night and step into the daylight. ☀🌈

The Lakes - Finn Shelby
Summary: reader contemplates all the ways they’ve fallen in love with Finn.
A/N: this is just some fluff nonsense that I found half finished in my drafts.
← Folklore Masterlist | TS Anthology Series
✰ and I want you right here ✰
“You know what that’ll do to you?” Finn was already lighting up your cigarette as he asked the question, watching you draw in a breath of smog before blowing it back out, hazy and white in the dusk of Small Heath. His own cigarette lingered between his fingers as he waited for your answer, as if he was dependent upon a reply.
“I’ve a mind to find out,” you replied, looking away momentarily, back down the street where he’d come from, the looming church in the distance. “My mum says it’s not proper.”
You could hear her voice in the back of your head, lithe but shrill, warning you that bad habits would chase away good suitors. There was only one you had in mind, the same one you’d been saying since you were small. You could remember still, even looking at him now all tall and lean like his brothers (save for Tommy who’d inherited his mother’s height), toking on a cigarette as if he were contemplating the whole of the world, the way your heart had pounded up into your chest the first time you laid eyes on Finn Shelby in a different light.
Ten years old, troublemakers in your own rights, Polly used to remark that the pair of you were thick as thieves whenever she saw you playing together. When you were little, dirty knees and scraped palms seemed like the perfect forever. You couldn’t imagine a different kind of life, the world was only as big as Small Heath and you had everything you needed right on Watery Lane. It wasn’t all true anymore, you’d seen London and Edinburgh and heard stories from Grace about America. The world was vast and you had an itch that begged for exploration. But everything you needed was still right there, in the middle of Watery Lane behind a black door. Tall and lean and ginger, with a smile that melted your insides and made your heart feel warm. He had freckles like constellations across his face and shoulders and other places that would make your mother blush if she knew you’d seen them.
“If your mum wanted you to be proper she’d have kept a closer eye on you,” he teased, eyes lighting up as he smiled.
“You think that would’ve stopped me?” You asked, as if Finn wasn’t as magnetic as the sun, pulling you into his orbit with little effort. A smile directed at you was enough for him to have your whole heart.
“Not at all,” he replied, curls bouncing as he shook his head. His hair was unusually unkempt, soft ginger curls enticing and free of gel. His typically shaved sides and back grown out just enough that you could run your fingers through it but not grasp it yet. He’d trim it by the weekend for the party but for now, he’d let it go. Finn liked the uniform look of the blinders, mostly because it meant that people recognised him immediately. If not instantly as the youngest Shelby brother than at least as a blinder. But he knew you liked when he didn’t bother with fixing his hair. The beeswax tended to make you break out in hives when you came in contact with it and more than looking like a blinder, Finn liked the feeling of your hands in his hair.
He was rewarded for going without the product when you reached out and brushed some fringe out of his eyes, fingers dancing along the freckles on his face as you cupped his cheek. Your other hand held your cigarette, somewhat over the idea of smoking with Finn. You’d suggested it, if only because he said he had to get back home and you were trying to stall him.
“Are you still going to London this weekend?” You asked, a faint smile gracing your features as he turned his head into your hand and pressed a kiss to your fingers.
He hummed, green eyes meeting yours, “are you going to come with me?” He’d been asking you to go back to London with him whenever the opportunity arose. You’d been once with your family and once with him (something that your mother had not been thrilled to discover) and Finn had been clear about wanting to take you back to the city.
There was a charm about London that didn’t exist in Small Heath. This town was your whole world but sometimes it felt suffocating, everyone knew Finn and by association, you. There wasn’t a place you could go that you could just disappear into the crowd, where it could just be you and Finn without the pressure his brothers provided.
London meant work but it was also a city too big for everyone to know who Finn was. When he got away from whatever his brothers needed him for and it was just the two of you, there was something distinctly peaceful about it.
“My mum’s not keen on me going down to London,” you replied, even though it was silly to mention. Finn was well aware of your mum’s opinions though it always surprised him that she didn’t try to keep the two of you apart.
“Is that a no?” He asked, taking another drag of his cigarette when you pulled your hand away.
You placed your own between your lips but then removed it just as quickly, as if it was only a place holder while you were debating what to say. “No.” You shook your head, “I’ll go.”
Finn’s face lit up, eyes sparkling and smile ear to ear. You swore a little piece of your heart ached at the look of absolute happiness he gave you, so much like the ten year old boy you once knew, and folded away the image for another time. You could’ve spent the rest of your life carefully annotating every look that crossed Finn Shelby’s face, every emotion that he felt charted for you to recall someday when he wasn’t with you anymore and it was all memories.
“Someday you won’t have to worry about your mum’s permission,” Finn mentioned it as if it was something he’d considered before.
“Doubt it’ll matter if I’m married, she’ll be there giving me her two cents about whatever I’m doing,” you replied, “though I’ll hopefully not be under the same roof.”
“Pol‘ll just drive you mad instead,” he mused, “though she’s always had a soft spot for you.”
“I’m moving in with Polly when I get married?” You asked, mirroring back the happy expression he’d had moments ago.
“Maybe just at first, then we’ll get a place. Like Tommy, out in the country and away from the smog.”
“Wouldn’t matter to me,” you mused, “I’d brave the smog for you.”

Impressions of ttpd under the cut.
Okay, I’m writing my thoughts down as I listen so I don’t lose track.
Songs I’ve listened to : Fortnight, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, Fresh Out The Slammer, Florida, Guilty As Sin, I Can Fix Him, loml, How Did It End?, The Prophecy, I Look In Peoples Windows, The Bolter, Peter.
Songs I liked: The Bolter, I Look In People’s Windows, The Prophecy, Peter.
KEEP IN MIND: I only listened to the above mentioned songs. Albums are usually meant to be consumed as albums. So if I’m missing certain pieces of he puzzle because I skipped around, lmk/ remember that as you read this.
General note/ TLDR: there are moments of strength on the album. It’s not all bad. In the songs I liked most you can even see the signature strengths of TS, story telling being one of them. But the album feels too bloated and might be her weakest work imo.
The aesthetic: confusing! She oscillates between the asylum and the poet motifs. I understand why. I think a perfect combo for this would’ve been the dark academia trope. She should have embraced that fully. Madness/ darkness as a result of love and creativity is a huge theme in dark academia and in the 18th century poetry that it comes from. She seems to be circle those vibes. But the whole asylum, craziness, poetry, creativity, childhood innocence, corruption and sex, end up confusing the message when they all could have fit coherently together if she did the academia thing.
Positives: the album is hella relatable. The type of love that she describes (setting aside who it’s about) is something I’ve definitely experienced and it’s definitely stuff that people in love will do. Justify acting stupid even when deep down they know what they’re doing will only harm them/ the other person doesn’t see or appreciate it. Building a grandness around the feelings you have for the other person the deeper you fall for them, looking back and mourning that version of yourself as much as you’re mourning the relationship / losing someone. Or like realizing that the greatness that you saw in someone was due to the respect you had for them and goodness you imbued them with not because they were actually worthy of those things…that’s a big ass feeling to accept. Super real. Been there. It stingssss lmao. So I appreciate the honesty.
She’s always known how to tell a story! The Bolter and Peter are great examples of this but it’s in all the songs that I liked. And this has been true since day one. Her classic bangers like “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” all the way down to Folklore and Evermore. In fact, I think that’s why when Red initially came out in 2010 people found it confusing. She herself always says it’s part of the country music genre that she took with her. Red did that in pop form and purists didn’t enjoy it. She does it on ttpd as well. In some songs it works, in others not so much.
Which brings me to the negatives: when it doesn’t work, it REALLLLY doesn’t work. Like in Guilty As Sin and How Did It End? Which for me are the lowest points form the collection of songs that I listened to. There’s some reality in there I’m sure, but it gets lost under all the bloated metaphors. I don’t think there’s a single line in either of those songs that isn’t supposed to be metaphorical and fake deep. It’s too much! She should’ve stripped it back / edited herself heavily in those songs. The result is she sounds ….idk empty?? Trying too hard. Like straining to really convince you that she’s devastated for real. I’d believe her more if she didn’t feel like she had to prove to me how much pain she’s in and just laid it out as it is.
The album sounds like too much of the same thing? I say this and I didn’t listen to the whole thing. Like the whole breathy/ broody sound and production is the same throughout. Sometimes, artists will do this on purpose to give the album a cohesive identity or to suggest that it’s one story unfolding over time. Like in AM’s 2014 album. That’s not the vibe I got here. Then again, see my disclaimer about not listening to the whole album maybe if I had listened to it from beginning to end I would feel differently. But the vibe I currently get is that some songs might have been recorded in the same writing session so they were too close to each other artistically cuz that’s the idea that was in her head at the time. Or like some songs were made from scraps leftover from another song that came before it. You know what I mean? It’s hard to kill your darlings, as creative writing teachers always say, but sometimes you really should, lol.
General frustration: this album doesn’t have a signature Taylor Swift song that I can sink my teeth into or play in the car, or on the radio and I genuinely don’t think there has ever been a Taylor Swift album where at least one song didn’t go viral/ become a likeable hit.
Overall not as trash as some takes have made me think however nowhere near as good as a TS album should be. Yeah. That’s all I’ve got.

Ellie I have a question for u what era did u actually become a swiftie ?
i’m SO glad you asked me this bc i was literally hyperfixating on red this morning sldkdjlsks
but YEAH red was the era i became swiftie!! i remember i would play the songs out loud from my kindle fire tablet in the back of my mom’s car and she would yell at me to turn it off AHAHA
watching the “i knew you were trouble” music video when i was in middle school was literally a core memory for me 😖
i kindaaa stopped listening to her music like right before rep came out (unrelated to all the kimye drama tho, idk i think i just got into kpop at that time or sumn so i stopped w the t swizzle) and then kinda sorta kept up w her through lover, and then LORDD WHEN FOLKLORE CAME OUT………….i got thrown into swiftie paradise n i’m here to stay for good after that LOL. i will never forget the feeling of folklore summer/fall during quarantine…..sensational, really.
ok but red tv coming out was also hysterical for me, like the atv ten min ver being released and the music video during my junior yr of college when i was in massive deppressive episode and ughhh i just think its crazy how og release of red changed my brain chemistry and then tv release of red changed my brain chemistry again like a decade later LOL phenomenal
red is also my fave ts album in general!! the girls that get it, get it!! i’m so happy it was the era that got me into miss blondie :))

yeah, I read some of that book about William Alwyn. Everyone involved is such a mess 😂. I can see the parallels with folklore/evermore. His mother was a witch (so you've got the sort of fairytale vibe covered). He was a bigamist who didn't bother to divorce his first wife before marrying his second (so you've got the cheating/more than one relationship at once thing covered). He had a mental breakdown (like TS claimed she was having...). He ran away to the countryside to make art (again, like TS). We know she can only normally write about boys, so when she came out with something new, she must have got the inspiration from someone else. So I'm thinking that conspiracy is not all that far-fetched. Would also explain why they chose William's name for the pseudonymous co-writer 🤔
no wonder why we loved folklore and evermore more than anything else she'd ever made, it flowed out of her when she spent time with joe in the pandemic. he influenced her to grow artistically, even she admitted that these albums included both their favourite artists who became taylor's favourite after joe suggested them. so a huge part of it is him and his family stories. like we can clearly see how she downgraded after that when staying with jack and making MIDnights. all of her rerecordings are supposedly shitty as well, now i wonder what kind of himbo music is she gonna make while staying with tk bestie

Omg, also a TS fan since debut and I massively took a step back from her personally prior to the reputation era because of her antics and victim complex. The music will always mean so so much to me, her lyrics mean so much to me, but her actions as a person and TS™️ as an entity is just weird and greedy. I think she accrued a lot of fans when she disappeared for a while who've completely constructed a narrative in their heads of who she is and they believe it and are eating up this current era, but those who've been here a long time know how PR and image driven it is. Exhausting.
I apologize in advance I have been having way too many feelings about this whole situation and how it relates to my identity as a 28 year old woman and you are about to get an oversharing novel in response lol
Also, I guess CW: this post is about Taylor Swift and if anyone sends me any kind of hate or whatnot related to my own personal opinions and feelings I will be deleting it because I am NOT playing that game.
My Aunt bought me the Debut album CD at a concert after seeing her open for Rascal Flatts. She was like "I thought that you would like her!" and she was RIGHT Taylor Swift became my entire personality. One of my FAVORITE core memories as a child was the day Fearless came out. For some reason we didn't have school, and my Mom and I watched Taylor on the Ellen show, and then we went to Target and bought the physical CD, we then drove around town so we could listen to it together. My mom hasn't been well and that is one of my favorite memories of us together. It's silly but when you're in middle school that kind of thing is important to you. Then in high school I actually got MADE FUN OF for wearing Taylor merch and being excited about Red. BUT I loved her music and felt like she actually stood for something, so I brushed it off and continued to be a HUGE Swiftie. I had the Taylor Swift dolls, I had the perfumes, I had the LOVE LOVE LOVE bracelet, I had the sundresses from WALMART. I saw her on the Fearless and 1989 tours, I had the fucking 1989 haircut. I was supposed to go to Loverfest.
I was still a HUGE Swiftie during the post 1989-pre Reputation eras, then the Reputation era. I'm a few years younger than her, but I felt like I could relate to the kind of manic panic that she was sharing with us (lol turns out I was just unmedicated and we're doing much better now). It felt (in my probably naive mind) like she was experiencing the same insecurities that I was and reacting accordingly. Was she playing the victim at times? Oh 100% BUT I also fully believe that she thought she was one. (Plus... Kim is my least favorite Kardashian lol)
I LOVED the Lover era even as it was shit on at the for the sunshine rainbow hyper colorful aesthetic. Like, I don't know if new fans realize but when Lover was released? It was NOT as beloved as it is now. Then Folklore and Evermore were absolute genius, it felt like Taylor had grown up, and she got all of these new fans, which was great! She was in an "adult" relationship and her music and publicity choices seemed to reflect that. It was so refreshing to see a celebrity keeping their personal life, personal, and sharing what they wanted to share through music. Midnights broke all kinds of records, again, amazing! Even if it wasn't as strong as say Folklore. I fought for my life and got Eras Tour tickets (opening weekend!!) I had the BEST TIME EVER.
Taylor has always been extremely calculated with her public image. She was over exposed during The 1989 era and the public turned on her, so I truly cannot figure out why she is doing it again 100x in this new era of whatever the fuck this is. I don't know her, maybe she is legitimately happy, or maybe this is a cry for help. But I have been so grossed out by her behavior lately, and how in your face everything is with Kelce. It's no secret that I hate Kelce (and people that know me IRL know that it's not a new Taylor related thing lol) and if she actually loves him, fine, that's great for her, BUT we don't need to see it! Yes she was public when she was dating Calvin but ALSO she was what 25-26? She's a 34 year old woman now with the biggest platform of any celebrity ever. She feels too old (and this is not me age shaming her because I would be grossed out if my friends were doing it, and I would be embarrassed if *I* were to ever do it) to be licking a man's face in public like this. This feels like sorority girl in her first college relationship (I was *in* a sorority for a hot second so this isn't hate on sorority girls either!) and not record breaking Grammy award winning artist. ALSO I feel like she used to come across as so articulate and well spoken? Controversial opinion but I thought she sounded like a fucking idiot in that Time Person of the Year piece.
I think that this whole thing is PR for something, but because it just feels too icky to be real, but I don't know what it's PR for, (trying to bury the Matty situation from May? Because if so that just makes me even more sad for him or trying to get back at Joe? Which if that's the case, I feel bad for him too and she's even more immature than I thought) and now, for the first time, AFTER SIXTEEN YEARS I'm embarrassed to be a fan of her, both because of her own actions and also the actions of her fanbase as a whole.
It feels really weird, and I know I'm being parasocial about it, but when the times got bad I always had her music to fall back on and now I just, I don't know it feels cheapened somehow because the current image that's being crafted doesn't match the one that we originally fell for. And you know what, people change, she's a celebrity, I don't know her, what she does DOES NOT affect me any way, and how I feel does not AFFECT HER in the slightest, and I know it's being parasocial but I feel like a big part of me is in mourning about it. Less because of her changing her image so drastically, and more so because I feel like I'm mourning the loss of childhood and joy that used to be associated with her music for me and I think that's what's making me the most sad.
I have Eras tour tickets for one of the London dates this summer. I'm probably going to still go, because I paid for them, and I also have tickets to see Noah Kahan that same week in London (... and also the Longines tour has ALSO decided that the London stop is that week...) But I don't consider myself a "big fan" anymore. Maybe I will be one day again, but this current image that she's putting out just isn't it for me.
Sorry for the longest Taylor related novel in existence, I have had a lot of bottled up feelings about this that feel ridiculous typing out and sharing out loud BUT I know I will feel better sending them into the interwebs and your ask was the perfect catalyst.
Thank you so much for sending this in and for your continued support! I hope you continue to enjoy my fics and my secret sports hot takes 😂
❤️Ally

DEAD POETS SOCIETY - MODERN AU HEAD CANONS
Charlie Dalton and Knox Overstreet - The Secret Swiftie - And the most obvious
He definitely listens to Taylor Swift on a daily basis - Prolly lives and breathes the 1989 era - Now as for the question of how he expresses that? He is either that really quiet one until Knox walks in on on him screaming But Daddy I love Him - He will not let him forget it
Knox is the MOST obvious TS fan amongst the poets - Loves Lover and has cried with Todd over The Manuscript and loml and YOYOK and Back to December and All too Well (10min) - Neil has not forgiven him for that one night when Todd came into their dorm, crying about how The Black Dog is Wolfstar coded (The Poets are so into ATYD and like the Marauders lore)
Knox Overstreet is drunk and cries over Chris while listening to Laufey
Being the hopeless romantic he grabs a bottle of something and puts Laufey on loop on Spotify and cries about Chris - Charlie and Cameron in the dorm have to either stuff their ears or actually go and manually shut of Spotify to stop him from crying. Knox proceeds to cry without Laufey and mumbles the lyrics to himself until he falls asleep
Todd Anderson lives for Hozier analysis - Loves The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives
Todd Anderson is the biggest Hozier fan (DUH). He spent much of his free time sitting down and breaking apart Unreal/Unearth with his copy of the Inferno at his side. Neil and Todd go out to stargaze and they blast The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives on shuffle and Sufjan Stevens
Meeks has destroyed everyone while playing Monopoly and Among Us
People underestimate him too much - well the joke it on them! He has made Cameron storm off and Todd huddle in a corner during Monopoly. Monopoly Monday is not exactly a thing - but when it is everyone rallies to pin him and Charlie together (who wins occasionally due to dumb luck)
He trolled everyone while playing Among Us and is the last to die.
Pitts collects vinyl records and/or CDs
He is definitely into The Smiths and The Beatles and Queen and he loves to collect records and CDs sometimes for aesthetics - But he is in charge of bringing the playlist to the party cause he is not going to overplay any artist (Knox overplayed love ballads and got together with Todd and cried over glasses of cheap wine). Has the most unpredictable music recommendations, but never disappoints.
Cameron vibes with period dramas
Cameron loves the good period dramas, and has read Austen, Tolstoy and E.M.Forester. Wants to be loved but isn't Knoxious desperate. He loves Downton Abbey and relates too much to Thomas and Mary for obvious reasons. Had a crush on Mr. Darcy at some point but now will not shut up about Alec Scudder from Maurice. Charlie had the brilliant idea of scaring him with a massive paper cut out of Colin Firth's Darcy. What ensued was a two hour manhunt for Charlie Dalton. Cameron still has the paper cut out and the poets have grown to appreciate its presence.
Neil loves Hamilton and Les Mis
That's it - he just does - Loves Lafayette and screams the lyrics of Helpless at any given time - Tried to fancast the poets as the cast - And tries to get everyone to sing One Day More (Knox is almost always Marius and is hella dramatic - Todd and Neil make up the Enjoltaire dynamic - Cameron likes Javert)
The Poets Love the Marauders
Charlie flexes the Sirius James energy but he's such a Regulus to Knox's James, who sees Chris as the literal Lily Evans (they are the folklore love triangle change my mind) . Neil and Todd (Wolfstar in a different font). Pitts and Meeks stan GRANT CHAPMAN and Cameron lives for the Black family line drama. They've all written fanfics or literal poetry about them.
Keating refuses to own a kindle
He loves physical copies of books too much - Cannot fathom the idea of owning a kindle
Charlie loves 80s coming of age films
It's his whole jazz - LOVES FERRIS BUELLER and can and will quote The Monologues in The Breakfast Club. Cried over Stand By Me, and has not recovered.
Neil and Pitts and Meeks love Fullmetal Alchemist
It was Christmas when they read volume 4 and none of them have physically recovered from it - IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW - Todd and Charlie had to make hot chocolate and listen to their ramblings and deal with Knox at the same time (who was crying over Chris yet again)
Chris and Ginny and Todd and Pitts and Charlie are in a band together
Knox wants frontline tickets, and Charlie has the time of his life selling the those tickets to literally everyone else. Todd doesn't sing and refuses to and is the lead songwriter - Ginny is the lead drummer and Pitts plays the keys. Chris is the lead singer and Charlie plays the sax and some random instruments on the side. Neil is the supportive boyfriend and Meeks buys them drinks after, and Knox drinks and pours his heart out to Todd.
Their Hogwarts house results
The Gryffindors - Neil and Todd
The Borderline Slytherin + Gryffindor - Charlie
Nowhere man - Knox Overstreet
Ravenclaw - Meeks
The one true Hufflepuss - Pitts
The mish mash one - Richard Cameron
I had fun with this one

I know a lot of people are feeling kind of weird about the TTPD release, as am I, but I've been having a rough time so I started listening to folklore today and I'm honestly still so grateful for it. I remember when it first came out I immediately thought of it as mine, it felt like the TS album I'd been waiting for since I was 12, and it wouldn't matter what sort of music she made after that because it would always be mine. Like, she's fallen a lot in my estimation since last year, and swifites have made a lot of her music unpalatable, but folklore remains untarnished and I love that for me
dude yeah…. folklore is the only taylor album i viscerally remember listening to and can recall so much about that first listen. it’s really so special and was such a powerful day.

✨Taylor Swift Makes Everything Better Lyric Prompts - Pt. 2✨
Tumblr media
It's exactly what the title says. I find song lyrics in general very inspiring and have a notebook of ones that strike me for one reason or another but don't have the 'whatever' that's needed to write them. And I unapologetically stan the hell out of Ms. Swift and am so often struck by her word choices. So this is my collection of the TS lyrics that conjure up the most thoughts - minus a ton of sad ones because I am just too soft to be putting that much angst into the world 😊
Lover
•Your name on my lips tongue tied, Free rent living in my mind - I Forgot That You Existed
•Fever dream high in the quiet of the night, You know that I caught it - Cruel Summer
•And I screamed for whatever it's worth, 'I love you,' Ain't that the worst thing you ever heard? - Cruel Summer
•There's a dazzling haze, A mysterious way about you dear, Have I've known 20 seconds or 20 years? - Lover
•I think he knows his hands around a cold glass make me wanna know that body like it's mine - I Think He Knows
•He got that boyish look that I like in a man - I Think He Knows
•Got that, Ah, I mean, Wanna see what's under that attitude - I Think He Knows
•I think he knows when we get all alone I'll make myself at home and he'll want me to stay - I Think He Knows
•Lyrical smile, Indigo eyes, Hand on my thigh we could follow the sparks, I'll drive - I Think He Knows
•We're so sad we paint the town blue, Voted most likely to run away with you - Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
•Kiss me once cause you know I had a long night, Kiss me twice cause it's gonna be alright, Three times cause I've waited my whole life - Paper Rings
•I like shiny things but I'd marry you with paper rings, Uh huh, That's right, Darling, You're the one I want, And I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this, Uh huh, That's right, Darling, You're the one I want in paper rings, In picture frames, In dirty dreams - Paper Rings
•Barefoot in the kitchen, Sacred new beginnings that became my religion - Cornelia Street
•My heart, My hips, My body, My love, Trying to find a part of me that you didn't touch - Death By a Thousand Cuts
•Something gave you the nerve to touch my hand, It's nice to have a friend - It's Nice To Have a Friend
Folklore
•We were something, don't you think so? Rosé flowing with your chosen family, And it would've been sweet if it could've been me - The One
•And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed, You put me on and said I was your favorite - Cardigan
•You drew stars around my scars - Cardigan
•I knew you tried to change the ending, Peter losing Wendy - Cardigan
•I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss, I knew you'd haunt all of my what ifs, The smell of smoke would hang around this long - Cardigan
•I think I've seen this film before and I didn't like the ending - Exile
•I can see you staring, Honey, Like he's just your understudy, Like you'd get your knuckles bloodied for me - Exile
•And I've been meaning to tell you I think your house is haunted, Your dad is always mad and that must be why - Seven
•I can see us lost in the memory/And I can see us twisted in bedsheets - August
•I didn't know if you'd care if I came back, I have a lot of regrets about that - This Is Me Trying
•And maybe I don't quite know what to say, But I'm here in your doorway - This Is Me Trying
•You showed me colors you know I can't see with anyone else/You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else - Illicit Affairs
•And isn't it just so pretty to think all along there was some invisible string tying you to me? - Invisible String
•Right now is the last time I can dream about what happens when you see my face again - Betty
•But I'm a fire and I'll keep your brittle heart warm If your cascade ocean wave blues come - Peace
•And you know that I'd swing with you for the fences, Sit with you in the trenches, Give you my wild, Give you a child, Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other, Family that I chose now that I see your brother as my brother - Peace

•There's an ache in you put there by the ache in me - 'Tis The Damn Season
•And the heart I know I'm breaking is my own, To leave the warmest bed I've ever known - 'Tis The Damn Season
•Gain the weight, Then lose it - Tolerate It
•No one teaches you what to do when a good man hurts you, And you know you hurt him too - Happiness
But are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers? - Dorothea
•And do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there? Will you forgive my soul when you're too wise to trust me and too old to care? - Coney Island

•My house of stone, Your ivy grows and now I'm covered in you - Ivy
•Your opal eyes are all I wish to see, He wants what's only yours - Ivy
•So yeah, It's a fire, It's a goddamn blaze in the dark and you started it - Ivy
• You're a bandit like me, Eyes full of stars, Hustlin' for the good life, Never thought I'd meet you here - Cowboy Like Me
•And the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up - Cowboy Like Me
•Now you hang from my lips like the gardens of Babylon, With your boots beneath my bed, Forever is the sweetest con - Cowboy Like Me
•And it's been so long but if you ever think you got it wrong, I'm right where you left me - Right Where You Left Me

•What a sight when the light came on, Proved me right when you proved them wrong - Sweeter Than Fiction
•Follow me home if you dare to, I wouldn't know where to lead you - Beautiful Ghosts
