Language headcannons for the Elric Brothers

Ed and Al learned Latin so they could study ancient alchemical texts, they could read and write before they were 10 and completely fluent by the time Ed takes the state alchemists exam.

They speak in Latin to have private conversations, but most alchemists have a general idea of what they're saying since you have to learn a fair bit of it to research alchemy. Hardly any of them took it to the same level as Ed and Al tho.

Al learns Xingese because of course he does, but Ed can never pick it up. He won't admit he's slightly jealous.

They can both read ancient Xerxeian but don't realize it. They think it's just Hohenhime's code for his notes, but never realize he has published books in his collection in the language.

Ed would learn Spanish if it existed.

how would levi receive each of the love language ?

PHYSICAL TOUCH

Levi is a complete stranger to touch. He always made sure to keep a certain distance with others, hoping that putting up physical barriers would stop his heart from getting attached,that he’d save himself from any more grief and loss if only no one approached him.

So when you first touched him, even if it was just fingers slightly brushing against each other or the ghost of a hand on his shoulder ; even just that threw his whole world upside down. He went from avoiding touch to craving it in a split seconds, every fibers of his body now yearning for your touch.

He’s not one to initiate it, unless in private (and even then he still struggle to grasp the idea that his desires can be act upon,and don’t have to simply stay ideas and daydreams) but he’s almost always sending small signals that his hand would like to be held,that his arms would absolutely love to rest around your waist and that his lips have been deprived of yours for too long. In public he has to maintain a certain image, so only small unnoticeable touches are allowed, but as soon as you’re in the privacy of your room or home then he’s always in touch with you in one way or another.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATIONS

Levi crave your sweet words almost as much as he crave your touch. He’s not used to being complimented on anything other than his fighting skills,and he’s spent most of his life feeling disconnected from himself,not paying attention to his appearance or to his personality ,only making sure he was always at the best of his strength.

Sometimes it’s like he can hear time’s clicking clock when you’re together,his whole body tensing as he wonder how many days you’ll get, if one of you will have to continue without the other, if the joy of loving you is worth the pain of losing you.

But even with his fears,there’s nothing he loves more than to spend time with you,and even when he complains he still seek your presence as your absence,even for a few seconds, is worse than any suffering he’s ever been put through.

GIFT GIVING

Levi could count on one hand how many gifts he’d received in his life. Just like touch and words, gifts were rarely directed toward him, his circles so small that unless occasional “giftperiments” from Hange ; no one ever really thought about giving presents to each other.

So whenever you do think about getting him something, he’s left in a slight state of shock as well as true adoration toward your gesture. He doesn’t care about wether or not he likes the gift or can find a use to it, because no matter what he’ll cherish it,carefully storing it to make sure it doesn’t get damaged or stolen,looking at it after a nightmare to bring him back to reality.

Your gifts will warm his heart and serve as a reminder of your love,of what he’s fighting for,of what makes life worth living.

ACTS OF SERVICES

Due to his place in the Scouts, Levi has a pretty busy schedule,and rarely have time to do anything that isn’t related to his job. Over the years he’s gotten used to it,used to the tiredness and exhaustion, never really wishing for more free time as he can scarcely recall the last time he had any.

So whenever he realizes that his schedule now has an empty space because you’ve taken care of whatever duty he had to do, he’s left completely bewildered,wondering what to do of this time but also why,after all he’s done, all the blood on his hands, why he deserves such an affectionate and caring person in his life.

He never ask for you to do things for him as he’s used to doing them alone but also doesn’t want to bother you with such mundanities ; but if he ever comes home to find dinner already prepared, his paper works organized and his clothes cleaned, he’d feel such an overwhelming wave of love that words will fail him and he’d just stand here,holding you gently,pressing small kisses on your shoulders.

The Banshee, a JL mystery

A foreign case was being discussed by the Justice League, in general it was not bad, just rare.

It began a couple of months ago, a tourist had come to Star City, but he did not visit the city, he did not even register, he just pop out of nowhere, went to the cemetery, and apparently the cameras recorded him placing flowers in all the tombs and talking with the air or with some of the people engraved in the stones, they were not sure of it.

The strange thing was that the cameras around him were always corrupted, they needed the JLD to even stabilize the image, and ¿was that not worrying? They assumed that something supernatural was following him, the boy looked strictly human, but even the trackers that they tried to put were damaged around him.

Unfortunate for the entire league, although they had the guy features, the image was not clear enough for facial recognition.

The corrupted sound of the camaras sounded like a wail, or a cry, Constantine commented it remembered him to a banshee, so they started to call him "The Banshee" even if Zatanna told them Banshee were strictly women, it stayed.

The wave of visits continued, the boy went through Central City, Metropolis, Washington, Gotham, but it was later where something relevant happened again.

Jason was visiting his own grave when he noticed the boy, he tells, he cared because the young man seemed disconsolate looking at the graves, even yearning if that had some sense.

"Did you know him?" It may be the case of B, but it still had him intrigued. Also, the guy was looking at his grave, he felt like he have the right to ask.

"No, but you could say I already did" the boy sighed, stroking the stone of the tomb "I would also like it-..." Danny stopped, he should not be telling his problems to the owner of the tomb "Ah, no matter, it's good to know he was loved"

Jelousy, the reason why Danny visited the cemeteries was to calm himself, surrounded by what he wants but can not occur, to cry as no one cried for him, Clockwork always said that a part of him died at the moment nobody pay attention to his death, and ¿wasn't that funny?

"¿How do you know?" If someone asked Jason, he would affirm that it was uncomfortable to talk about himself as if he was still dead, but he couldn't do anything about it now.

"Well, he's buried and has a proper resting place, they keep bringing him flowers even though the inside of his grave is empty, you can see the recently removed earth; Many of the dead don't have that luxury, their bodies left somewhere, the missing people were never given a proper burial, I don't know man, ghosts can't build their own graves ¿you know?" He was probably ranting and he knew it, but Danny was tired, he wanted that too, and it was such a stupid rule not to be able to give himself his own resting place, but he wasn't going to burden Jazz, Sam, or Tucker with giving him a funeral.

It was the reason he did this, why he visited cemeteries, laid flowers and talked to the resident ghosts, he wanted to know the feeling, wanted to know what he had lost, wanted to be mourned too.

"Anyway, nice to meet you Nosaj Ddot, be a little grateful for what you have, ¿okay? I know some who would kill for it" he smiled ruefully, starting to pick up his basket of flowers, he had already made his rounds anyway. It was probably time to go back to Amity Park.

"¿Nosaj? What are you talking about-" but the boy was already gone, disappeared into thin air, his communications re-established at the same moment that he noticed his damaged tracker right next to the grave, a short circuit.

"The banshee ¿uh?, he sure is an interesting guy, maybe the League is really onto something this time."

i feel like at times stan just wants to give you his undivided attention and not have to focus on the troubles of the world outside. like his dad, his sister, the farm. but all those worries disappear as soon as he can just spend time with you. you guys don’t even have to be doing anything; you could just be cuddling in silence, and he would still be comforted by knowing you’re still with him, and he can give you every ounce of the love he has for you. he also loves holding you in his arms after a long day and just listening to you talk or the sound of your breathing. he loves to pepper your face with kisses. he also loves to cuddle, so if you ever feel even a little upset, he’s got you.

receiving: words of affirmation + physical affection

there are days where stan doesn’t even have enough energy to get out of bed in the morning, which are the days where he needs your comfort the most. just hearing even the basic stuff like ‘i love you’ or ‘you are a good person’ would send chills down his spine because he was actually being treated like a human, and not a useless punching bag by his sister or as a walking campaign by his dad. at times, stan is just so used to being alone that he feels uneasy being so close to you, but he really, really doesn't want to let anytime soon, it was too late anyways. he already loved you too much.

kyle appreciates any time he has with you, even if it is doing school work together. he never finds the silence to be awkward, and doesn’t feel it necessary to fill the air with words. only sounds are of the pencil kyle is using scratching softly on his notebook and the click-clacking of the laptop kyle let you borrow because you forgot yours at home. which brings me to my next topic, acts of service. imagine you’re in class and you forgot your pencil, don’t worry kyle’s got a spare. you don’t like olives on you pizza? kyle is happy to scrape them off for you. didn’t want to bring a jacket and now you’re about to die of pneumonia? kyle to the rescue, but straight after he’ll give you a long lecture about how he was right and you should have listened to him and brought your jacket. but it's okay because he does that out of love as well.

receiving: words of affirmation + acts of service

kyle can get insecure; sometimes the guy’s words get to him. like the time he got voted the worst looking in the class. that hurt him big time so having you just say something like ‘i like your nose’ or ‘i think your hair is cute’ can make quite the difference. he also doesn’t mind letting you see him without his hat, because he trusts you wouldn’t go out of your way to hurt him and after a while of dating he might even let you touch it. as much as kyle does love doing things for you here and there he also would like the same done for him. he likes the idea of knowing you care about him and his feelings just as much as he cares about you. if he’s sick, he knows he can trust you to take notes for him so he can copy them or you could bring him some soup. it could be anything even if it’s small he doesn’t care. as long as he knows you care.

kenny mccormick

giving: physical affection + acts of service

now, we all know kenny is a very physical person, who loves rather sensual physical things but he also loves to just cuddle you after a bad day or just holding hands. he also loves kissing you, wether or not that leads to something more is up to you. he is also pretty cool with pda, as long as you’re comfortable of course. he gets handsy too; he might slip his hand in your back pocket or he’ll gently scratches your back and run his fingers through your hair, caressing your cheeks. He could also would wrap him and you in his parka while just rubbing your back.

speaking of his parka, he let’s you borrow it if you get cold. but before he does he would drown it in the cologne he ‘borrowed’ from stan. he would also get you flowers that reminded him of you from the park. since kenny doesn’t have alot of money and he would want to spoil you if he did, acts of service is the next best thing for him as he can still treat you the way you deserve to be treated. he could take out the trash for you if he saw that you didn’t like doing it or taking care of you when you’re sick even if he gets sick because he’s more worried about you. when he gathers a few bucks, he might even buy you a energy bar with chocolate in it. but whatever he does or gets for you just know that he does it with all the love in his heart for you and just you.

as much as kenny loves kissing you and touching you, he loves knowing that you actually like doing those things even more. kenny just wants the same he gives out. he’s pretty touch starved, even just a simple kiss on the cheek is enough to make his day. he also loves being held and kissed and cuddled just as he does to you. he gets pretty clingy because he gets lonely, the only people he has to talk to at home is karen. his parents are out drinking and his brother is doing only god knows what in his room with his friends. kenny wants to feel loved, and wants to feel like he's in a loving relationship with someone who truly cares for him. he wants to be held and kissed, and to feel like he's actually important to someone.

kenny might not have money, but he appreciates the small things. seeing you spend money on him and being excited to give him anything you buy makes him happy. he understands the value of everything and appreciates it. and it doesn’t even have to be things you bought, it could be something you made specifically for him, especially if it involves cooking, like homemade cookies or cakes or something more personal, like a picture or drawing. he isn’t really picky, but he is very grateful to have someone like you in his life and just hopes you feel the same about him.
