(voice of a man slowly losing his mind) does it ever strike you that the plot of aftg is moved by little acts of kindness kevin offered to people who never had any semblance of it before. loving riko when no one would, befriending jean in the nest and keeping him alive through debilitating amounts of trauma, telling andrew he was worth it in a dingy high school locker room, teaching neil every night even if he knew he was about to die

Loki keeps things moving in its second season as the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) headed to the World’s Fair in 1893 Chicago alongside Mobius (Owen Wilson).
Following a ping on Ravonna Renslayer’s (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) TemPad, Loki and Mobius search for something out of the ordinary and wind up at a demonstration being put on by Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors), one of He Who Remains’ variants, where Ravonna is also in attendance with a hidden Miss Minutes (voiced by Tara Strong).
Unlike past reconnaissance missions completed with Mobius, Loki has the upper hand as he and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) were the ones who met He Who Remains and would be able to more easily spot his variants. “In Season 1, it was really helpful to have him on the back foot because it allowed him to go on this really unexpected journey of growth,” executive producer Kevin Wright tells TV Insider. “We’ve seen him be redeemed, we’ve seen him be a villain, we’ve seen him be an anti-hero. He’s kind of flirted with heroism. But I think our show really lets him start wandering down that path to do it.”

In order to get to Victor after his presentation to a captivated audience at the Fair, Loki uses his magic to clear his path, removing a volatile attendee with a flash of green light and smoke, and that’s just a fraction of the magic put to use in the episode. “The TVA is a bad organization in a lot of ways. They completely broke him down, but it set him on this new journey now,” Wright teases Loki’s path forward.
“And I think that that’s exciting. And the thing that we talked a lot about going into this season was the magic. Through the MCU, we haven’t seen him use it a lot, or if he’s using it, he’s using it for tricks and mischief and all this,” Wright continues. In this case, he’s using it as a tactical device.
Just as Loki and Mobius intercept Ravonna and introduce themselves to Victor, they’re alerted to TemPad activity nearby, which turns out to be Sylvie, who is determined to kill Victor as she vows to murder all of He Who Remains’ variants. This leads to a magical face-off with Loki as he tries to prevent such an occurrence, knowing he and Mobius need Victor’s temporal aura in order to try and fix the temporal loom holding the sacred timeline together.
“He’s a character who has not lived up to his full potential yet,” Wright adds of Hiddleston’s Loki. “And that was the exciting journey for us in Season 2 was we want this Loki to become the best version of himself. And something that Tom would say was like, ‘You cannot become the best version of yourself in life until you really embrace your past and who you are, and fully kind of reckon with your being and the things that you’ve done and what you want to do.'”
Wright notes it isn’t just about being a “good guy now,” Loki’s journey is about “Finding yourself in a constant journey, and we wanted this season to be that. Each step along the way, you’re starting to see a progression of Loki, and the magic is a fun way to show that.” Viewers also see the God of Mischief’s growth. “Through the way he carries himself, you’re seeing him become a real leader in some ways,” Wright continues. “It was just something that felt natural to the story, but also, luckily, I think it’s something the fans desperately want to see as well.”
See how Loki continues to move towards hero status as Season 2 continues, and let us know what you think of the latest developments in the time-traversing Marvel series below.

I feel like you've given most spn related things some lil spice but I always love the spice on this : hot spicy take on the "Dean is the most horrible character and ruins everyone's life and Sam and Cas are poor little meow meows who only do bad things sometimes because tyran Dean farted in their direction" takes that are not really only said by anti-Dean peeps ? Obsessed with that incredible thesis and would love the added spice ❤
SPICY HOT HOT GHOST PEPPERS CAROLINA REAPERS HELP I'M BURNING
I really try to respect other people’s opinions, and I believe there are a wealth of ways to interpret a story, and I think that’s a deeply beautiful thing. This applies to interpretations I don't agree with and outright dislike as well. That said, some opinions are simply and objectively bad, dishonest, and/or demonstrably false, and I truly do not believe you can sit down and honestly watch through the show with an open mind about all the characters, truly pay attention to what they do, say, and believe, and come to the conclusion that this show is about an evil manipulative abusive man terrorizing his pure and sinless brother and friend. It is an interpretation built from cherry picking facts to suit an ugly, miserable theory, making Mount Everest out of a bunch of the tiny mole hills, making the worst possible presumptions of feelings and intentions, and holding characters to completely different standards in order to neatly divide them into "abused" and "abuser" in a way that, frankly, fetishizes the abused person. I despise this interpretation of the story with every fiber of my being, and I have absolutely no respect for the opinion of anyone who peddles it, regardless of who they cast as villain/victim (because people have also done this with the others—it’s just more “popular” to do it with Dean... I mean... does anyone else remember how people were shitting on Sam after his emotional reaction in 14.12? Calling him an evil abuser? Because I do).
The thing that always gets me about this take isn't just how dishonest, unfair, mean-spirited, and compassionless it is in its treatment of Dean’s feelings, circumstances, and intentions... but how deeply reductive and offensive it is toward Sam and Castiel, sucking away their identities to turn them into effigies to mourn for their sad, Stockholm syndrome-esque attachment to their "abuser". Further, it grips the heart of the show—the relationship between Sam and Dean, and then the relationship among TFW as a whole—in a tight, uncompromising fist and pulverizes it. It literally rips out the heart of the show (the RELATIONSHIPS) and replaces it with something unprepossessing of any merit: A miserable, 15 years long story about a malicious abuser getting away with terrorizing those closest to him for his entire life, while his poor abuse victims suffer through until they die for him/happy to be reunited with him because they “don’t know any better” and never ever learned better, I guess. What a stupid, sad sack of a story.
Castiel is a thousands of years old celestial being who has literally beaten Dean into the pavement under no form of mind control, and has shown over and over again that he will do whatever the hell he wants, regardless of whatever Dean thinks about being sidelined. If he thinks whatever he is doing is in Dean's best interest, he literally does not care how Dean feels about it. He will nod and smile and then fly off and swallow thousands of souls with Dean begging him not to, shove Dean out of the way to attack the big bad, leave Dean alone in Purgatory, refuse to come out of Purgatory so he can self-flagellate, fly off with the angel tablet, help Sam with the Book of the Damned, let Lucifer possess him without anyone's knowledge or agreement, come into Dean's room under the guise of apologizing for ghosting him so that he can steal The Colt out from under his pillow and murder someone, decide not to murder that person and still prevent Sam and Dean from helping by knocking them both unconscious, get himself killed, make a deal to trade his life for Jack's and never tell anyone, hide information and worries and ignore phone calls, ghost Sam and Dean, and bicker and fight with Dean as if they are a married couple. Love sickness and feelings of worthlessness (which Cas has a wealth of reasons to feel—many of which aren’t even related to Dean but to his heavenly family) are reinterpreted as the result of some sort of constant, terrorizing emotional abuse. Power and authority that Dean does not actually have is forced into his hands by these fans. Maybe listen when Cas says, “Hey—not everything is your fault.” Maybe listen when he says “I loved the whole world because of you”, calls Dean a role model, says he enjoys their conversations, offers to die with him and dies for him multiple times. Maybe treat these feelings as genuine and valid and HIS and not as the delusions of some poor manipulated baby.
Sam is framed this way even more often than Cas, and it's a damn shame, because what I typically see is this: Sam’s development into a mediator and peacemaker is twisted and reinterpreted as coming from a place of weakness and/or fear. Rationality, maturity, wisdom, and compassion are not the traits of a scared, powerless child. They are the traits of a mature adult, who has been beaten down by life, and fought and raged against his circumstances, and somehow come out of it with more kindness and understanding and strength instead of less. He has made his own decisions whenever it was possible, within the set of circumstances doled out to him. From telling his dad to go fuck himself and going to college, to getting back into hunting to avenge Jess (NOT because of Dean—Dean took him home without complaint at the end of the woman in white case), to continuing to hunt after their father died because he wanted to feel close to him (Dean was actually weirded out and sort of disgusted by this), raging and fighting to save Dean from his deal against Dean’s wishes, continuing to hunt and working with Ruby (directly against Dean’s dying wish), drinking demon blood, jumping in the cage, leaving hunting to go be with Amelia, coming back to hunting to save Kevin, fighting with Dean over what he had with Amelia and threatening to leave if Dean didn't shut his mouth, leaving Amelia to go back to hunting (Dean ultimately suggests he go back to her—Sam chooses to stay), trying to kill Benny, demanding to be the one to do The Trials and saying he is going to SURVIVE them—that being the ENTIRE POINT, losing that resolve in a fit of depression but choosing to drop the knife, demanding space from Dean (and being given it), fighting to save Demon Dean who didn’t want to be found or saved, using the Book of the Damned against Dean’s wishes, telling Charlie that this is what he wants—that he used to want normal but now all he wants is to hunt with Dean and that he doesn’t know what he’ll do if he can’t have that, unleashing the Darkness in his desperation to keep Dean with him and even saying, “I would do it again” in the aftermath, saving the town being destroyed by Amara, getting into The Cage with Lucifer, leading a team against the British Men of Letters, nurturing Jack, punching Dean in the face when he was going to sacrifice himself, leading more hunters, wielding a gun against Chuck... and that’s just some highlights. Sam Fucking Winchester does not need your bullshit about him being some sad, scared, helpless baby lorded over by mean old Dean who has never let him do anything he wants.
Yes, in the text itself, there is jealousy and resentment at times, and there is legitimate and righteous anger on Sam’s part on a few occasions. There is blame cast on Dean by Sam for some of these choices/circumstances. Some of those moments where Dean is blamed are legitimate, and some of them... frankly, are not. Within the framework of the fucked up dynamics of the way they were raised, Sam and some fans bristle when they feel Dean is casting himself as the parent he is not, but Sam also has been guilty in the past of trying to reframe himself as Dean’s child when things got tough. Neither of them is responsible for the origin of that dynamic, but they BOTH have responsibility to change it, and they both, ultimately, succeed in doing so. For Sam, his part comes in recognizing and learning to fully own his own choices. Recognizing that he is not a child, and he is certainly not Dean’s child, and it isn’t just “Mummy—loosen the grip”, but Sam has to too—not claim independence only to blame Dean for his choices when his own decisions have an ultimate outcome he is unhappy with. That is a legitimate arc that Sam goes through imo, but he comes out the other side of it, and he and Dean relate to each other much better as peers from then on—and I’d like to note that throughout the entire series, when they don’t relate as perfect peers and teammates, it isn’t always Dean “bossing Sam around”, but Sam also trying to sideline Dean and yes—boss him around. And when they lied and hurt each other and yes, even manipulated each other, Dean most certainly wasn't always the one doing the lying and hurting and manipulating. Always, always, ALWAYS, they both had an understandable point of view, and it was complex, and you could understand why they made the choices they did, even if you thought of those choices as being wrong ones.
I also would like to point out (because this is basically what I see all of the time) that Dean being hurt by someone or simply voicing his feelings or opinion is in no way abusive or manipulative. Dean is certainly charismatic and loved and his returning love and respect is often deeply desired, but he is not an actual siren, who bends people to his will simply by speaking or being. People are, in fact, able to tell him “no”, and frequently FREQUENTLY do. Further more, no one is owed his affection, his unwavering loyalty, or his trust. He has a right to his boundaries, regardless of if it makes some poor sad sap feel deprived of the “wellspring of coveted love” while he works through things. He can be hurt and angry, and he can wear his heart on his sleeve at times, and he can be flawed, and broken. [Insert Castiel's speech from 15.18 here]. So can Sam. So can Cas. None of them are manipulating each other by virtue of getting angry, feeling hurt, being traumatized, needing space, or having differing opinions or feelings. Sam didn’t punch Dean in the face in 14.12 because he's a cruel, manipulative abuser trying to force Dean under his thumb. He didn’t work behind Dean’s back with Ruby, insist on doing The Trials, beg Dean to use Doc Benton’s alchemy, use the Book of the Damned to cure Dean, pump him full of blood to cure him of being a demon despite the fact that it might kill him, or scream at him and fight him for wanting to get in the Ma’lak box because he “doesn’t respect his autonomy” and “wants to control him” and “doesn’t respect his right to his own body”. He did it because he loves him desperately, and Dean could stand to fucking hate himself less, and he fiercely wanted Dean to live even when Dean didn’t want to or couldn’t picture what that could be like. He didn’t force Dean to do anything simply by opening his mouth to voice disagreement and swaying Dean when he did so. Now reverse that.
Cas didn't beat Dean into the ground in season 5 because he wanted to terrorize him into never going against Castiel ever again. He didn’t go behind his back dozens of times, sideline him, go MIA, all because he wanted to manipulate and control Dean and punish him. He didn’t throw sassy remarks at him to shatter his self-esteem. Now reverse that.
*Breathes*
Anyway, fuck "X is abusive” interpretations.

prophet's lament
read on ao3 if you prefer.
Chuck Shurley is a nervous wreck of a man with a penchant for drowning his sorrows in alcohol and hearing the word of God.
He thinks he could have been something more, once. As a child his head was brimming with ideas for stories, tales of grandeur and heroism and fate— as fate would have it, he writes episodic pulp horror that ends up in the bargain bin, unsurprisingly, because even he’s not enough of a hack to find these stories enjoyable, but God says otherwise.
God seems to have lost His knack over the eons — the bible was a fucking bestseller.
Chuck Shurley’s head has been completely expunged of any stories of his own making, headaches and drink taking up the space that isn’t ‘fulfilling his duties as a prophet’
God doesn’t like it when he thinks like this— any negative thoughts about the being that took over his life are buried deep, in hopes He will not hear them: He always does. The headaches get worse.
Chuck writes, and drinks, and slams way over the recommended dose of aspirin down his throat, until one day, he just—
stops.
Kevin Tran is a nervous wreck of a teenager with a penchant for getting good grades and hearing the word of God.
He knows he could have been something more, once. As a child he was always pushed to achieve, to aim high, to make sure a good future was set in stone.
Fuck load of good that did— from where he’s sitting, his future looks like hiding away underground translating a language he doesn’t even consciously understand for two guys who don’t even appreciate it.
He chases away the headaches with stolen pain medication from the Winchester’s cabinet and keeps himself awake with coffee and stolen who-knows-what medication from the Winchester’s cabinet.
It’s not a surprise he’s going crazy. Sometimes, he feels a presence that isn’t him in the back of his head. He doesn’t hear voices or anything (though that would make more sense, considering the whole prophet deal). The presence is silent, obtrusive in its unobtrusiveness. All it seems to do is…watch. He can feel it, staring through his eyes, tracking Sam or Dean or SamandDean as they distract Kevin from the work they asked him to do. It is not so much a spy, as spies gather information—the presence seems to know what’s going to happen and when and why, it watches simply to…enjoy.
He doesn’t tell the Winchesters about the presence. Partly because they don’t listen to him about anything else, and partly because he’s afraid.
Well, he’s afraid more often than not these days — but when it comes to the presence, despite it’s unobtrusiveness, he is chillingly, paralysingly afraid.
Kevin takes the secret to his grave. As he dies, his last thought is that the least the god who ruined his life could do was save it.
Chuck Shurley—
starts.
He starts in a blinding white suit he doesn’t remember owning in front of a finished story he doesn’t remember writing.
Hoping for some insight, he scans the pages. It looks like an ending.
It didn’t stick laughs a voice in his mind, or chest, or very soul. More felt than heard. It is not words. It is crashes and crackles and flashes and colours he can not see. Still, he hears it.
The word of God.
“Why not?” He asks, sitting statue-still in his chair, as if God would not be able to see him if only he doesn’t move.
They’re my favourite show the voice that is not a voice says. The crashes are louder, like thunder all around him, lightning down his spine. Sweat beads on Chuck’s forehead. He is a nervous wreck of a man yet he has never been as afraid as here and now. He can feel something looming on the horizon. He wishes he could simply—
stop
again.
The voice that is not a voice curls a mouth that is not a mouth into a sickening grin.
And I’ve decided I want a bigger role.
I mean, an angel inside of you, it’s kinda like being chained to a comet.
A God inside of you is not kinda like being chained to a comet. It is being torn limb from limb, into particles, being put back together wrong, and wrong again, a shifting mass of horror in constant agony, eternal.
And Chuck is awake through all of it. He watches, through eyes that were once his, no longer his, no longer eyes. A meat puppet constantly devoured, constantly devouring.
He likes the Winchesters, and their friends, he really does. He may have found them trite as characters, but learning they are real, have struggled through all the problems and pain he has dutifully, resentfully written down, it endeared them to him.
He is going to be their last struggle.
It’s a shame they’ll die thinking he was always a monster.
He can only hope they take him down with them.

Interview: Makeup Artist Douglas Noe on Loki’s Looks Through the Years & Creating Anew for ‘Loki’ [EXCLUSIVE]
Douglas Noe has been in Hollywood for three decades. An award-winning makeup artist, he’s worked on projects such as World War Z, Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man 3, I Saw the Light, and Birth of a Nation. On top of these impressive credits, he’s also been Tom Hiddleston’s personal makeup artist since joining the MCU in The Avengers, designing all of the looks for Loki’s subsequent appearances.
Tumblr media
Noe has been nominated for three Emmys with one win, and five Makeup Artist and Hairstylist (MUAHS) Awards resulting in two MUAHS awards. His skills include creating making natural and period looks, prosthetics, hair, and tattoos.
Along with being the head of the makeup department for the most recent Disney+ series Loki, Noe is also creating looks for the new Netflix comedy series True Story starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes.
We had a chance to chat with Douglas Noe about his work on Loki, The Avengers, the incomparable value of teamwork on set, and most importantly, Richard E. Grant.
Nerds and Beyond: So you started your Marvel journey with The Avengers, but what drew you to your field in the first place? And how did you get your start?
Douglas Noe: Star Wars was a huge influence to me as a young boy, both sketching and drawing, and a little bit of sculpting but not much. Cut to 1983, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” comes out and I find a magazine called Fangoria on the newsstands where I can order blood and wax and pencils and fake hair. So, I started playing with these things. I was also taken with the horror movie craze that was happening in the early 80s — Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, and others, obviously.
In High School, in 1984, I joined choir thinking I would get an easy credit, but my voice had not changed. So the choral instructor had been waiting for a boy soprano to do a theatrical opera presentation. So with that I sang the lead, I quit choir after that, because my peers were merciless, but, I learned the world of theatrical makeup which I hadn’t been introduced to.
I did years of theater. I went to a performing arts high school — it’s called Fort Hayes School for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Ohio — graduated, went to beauty school, and continued working in Ohio doing industrial, commercial, theater, and opera [makeup]. Worked for Maybelline and Revlon, got restless, worked in Cincinnati on my first film in the summer of 1990, it was July so 31 years ago, A Rage in Harlem. And my boss said you come to Los Angeles, I’ll make sure you get on your feet.
Nerds and Beyond: So you mentioned that it’s been about 31 years since your career started, what’s changed over the course of those 30 years in your field?
Douglas: How much time do we have? I’d say the biggest, biggest change would probably be the way we make these things now. Although another large change, more specific, would be the materials that we use. There’s a constant evolution and reinvention of almost all aspects of the materials that a makeup artist uses. That said, I have to shine a light on the way we do things now with the onset of digital and digital cameras. Shooting on film now has almost completely fallen by the wayside. Film was very forgiving, quite frankly, and now it’s not so forgiving. And because of that, the bar has been raised. The wonderful thing about this journey is watching my peers just get better and better and better, my colleagues rising to meet the challenge of not having anything to hide from with this new way we make films.
Tumblr media
Nerds and Beyond: So, sometimes you kind of throw prosthetics to the wayside in favor of a more traditional makeup. How do you make that decision on which one to go with?
Douglas: That’s an excellent question. The decision is based purely on what are we going to see. That’s where I start, what is the lighting? I have a conversation with the director of photography and I find out what is the dynamic. Obviously, I know from the script whether it’s an interior or exterior, or if we’re exterior but we’re going to be on a stage, if it’s day or night. These variables all play into my decision as to whether or not I should rely on my theatrical experience and ability to paint 2D to appear 3D, or go ahead and make small prosthetics and put them where I need to put them and use actual prosthetics in lieu of paint.
That has everything to do with lighting, locations, logistics, and because most of his [Loki’s] wounds appear on his arm and some on his face in the Void, it’s all very moody and very dark. And again, the theatrical quality of the paint is not going to be altered by the changing light, it’s just going to react the same way the rest of the face is going to react. It’s purple light, it’s going to make everything have a purple hue. There was no accounting for any correction that didn’t need to be done. There wasn’t anything wrong with that. It’s real.
Nerds and Beyond: So, you did make up for not only Tom on Loki, but you helped plan out the looks for everybody?
Douglas: Yes, what I do is I surround myself with strong talent. It’s all about team. I designed Wunmi Mosaku, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia DiMartino, and Tom [Hiddleston]. Regarding the rest of it, Neil Ellis, both Dennis Liddiard and I, added to the elements of his scars and wounds, which you would only see in close-ups.
The rest of it, the parameters are set — Blade Runner to Mad Men — and stay in those confines. And obviously, I choose color palettes for the women and there are parameters set for the men, but then it’s about team. I’m a big one on a team and not putting my thumbprints on other people’s work, but rather build other people up so they feel like they own what they’re doing.
My team consists of artists that also have stronger resumes and quite frankly, skills that exceed mine. It’s the mutual trust that allows us to keep a high level of artistic integrity in every aspect of the job. It also means I get the very best from my team, and it shows on the screen.
So, I didn’t have every look in my hand. Dennis Liddiard designed the Mobius character and I had Ned Neidhardt run with Gugu and turn up the volume on some of the elements that she already possesses that we can play with. Her eyes and lips, I think Ned turned the volume on both. And because we’re shooting in order, it’s a progression in the makeup you did.
Tumblr media
Nerds and Beyond: When it came to Sylvie and Loki, when you when you’re doing those, did you try to kind of plan them both to have any similar things to give them a Loki look?
Douglas: It’s a fair question, but the answer is no. So again, I think the characteristics and traits that were going to be similar among them, aside from wardrobe and costume hints, were all character driven. And I did nothing with the makeup and hair to try to make them look or even closely resemble each other.
Nerds and Beyond: I want to kind of back up a little bit to Tom in the first Avengers film. That was by far one of his most standout looks. Can you tell me anything about what went into the creation of that absolutely tormented, haunted look that he had throughout that entire movie?
Douglas: Yeah, and that’s probably one of the elements that, because the character has evolved, we kind of left with Avengers because by the end of Avengers, and we carried it into Endgame, he does have a bit of an edgier look in Avengers, and not many people pick up on it. But the reality is he’s a little sculpted in Avengers.
I remember sculpting his cheekbones and temples, and doing a little play on his forehead for when he’s in the cell on the Helicarrier carrier with all that overhead lighting. I did like a little devil horn shadow, which is so subtle. The only person who’s going to notice is anybody who looks back at it and having read this and knows what to look for, but it is so nuanced and so subtle. And that’s the only place I think we did that. But the rest of him is very much chiseled and sculpted, but it’s a light touch.
And I think, again, as he evolved through the Marvel Universe and into the other movies that was something that was easy to leave behind, because I think that look played directly into his evil desire to rule over Earth. We rested that design element with that storyline.
Nerds and Beyond: It’s very clear too and I’ve always loved looking at that, because I’m a huge fan of the character. I’ve always loved kind of comparing how he looked in that movie to the rest of them.
Douglas: You’re on to me!
Nerds and Beyond: I’m not! I swear [laughs] So, what’s your best method for making the actors comfortable in the makeup chair? And with the final outcome?
Douglas: It’s dialogue; listening, talking to them, talking to their representation, whether it be an agent or a manager, and doing my homework and doing my due diligence to find out what’s going to make them comfortable the moment they walk through the door. I do my homework on them. It’s not just IMDb, it’s an internet search. So, I spend some time on the web and find out who these folks are, and if I find out, for example, they’re not one that likes to talk a lot, well, the writing’s on the wall, we’re not going to talk a lot, we’ll cut to the chase and get to the point. But also, it’s about building a rapport and building a relationship. Also, knowing that, I’ve said this in previous discussions, knowing it’s necessary to get out of the way.
Like if, for example, I’m not a proper fit for somebody, I have to be plugged in, I have to be aware enough to understand that it may not be working before somebody says to me, “Hey, this isn’t gonna work.” So it’s just about being open, especially as Tom’s personal on these projects and running the department, knowing that I don’t get to do everybody. I don’t get to put my thumbprint on other people’s work. Because not only is that disrespectful, it’s very often unnecessary, because I hire good people. I hire contemporaries and peers. Truly, you’re only as good as your weakest crew member. I surround myself with good people.
So, take Owen Wilson, for example, it would have been wonderful to do Owen’s makeup, but there were times when he was not going to be shooting with Tom and I was going to need to be ready for Tom or available to Tom, so it didn’t make sense. So I never touched Owen, I had Dennis Liddiard design that look and run with it. And then Ned Neidhardt took over that look when Dennis had to depart. That’s just one example of not trying to do everything.
Another one was the Classic Loki. I wanted to do Richard E. Grant’s [makeup] so bad, I can’t even tell you. I’ve been a huge fan since 1987. I wanted so badly to bring that full circle, didn’t make sense. It just didn’t make sense. So again, I never touched him. It wasn’t necessary. Ned was always there. And I think the same thing happened to me on Ragnarok reshoots, which I ran in Atlanta again with Dennis Liddiard. I wanted so badly to do Sir Anthony Hopkins makeup, but it didn’t make sense. So I was happy to hand it off to Bill Myer.
Tumblr media
Nerds and Beyond: Oh man, I loved Richard E. Grant in this show so much.
Douglas: He’s amazing.
Nerds and Beyond: He’s so good!
Douglas: He really is. And he’s that good in person. He’s just so fun and interesting and alluring and attractive. He’s such a wonderful, wonderful person and, of course, a phenomenal actor.
Nerds and Beyond: I was watching little videos that he posted and he just seems like the warmest person.
Douglas: You know, just one last tidbit about Richard Grant is he’s got wonderful stories and as he’s telling them he’ll often stop and pause and just laugh. Just laugh, not for the sake of the stories or for anybody that he’s telling the story to, but because recounting the story brings him true joy. So he’ll stop and embrace that joy. Oh, it’s so wonderful.
Nerds and Beyond: That’s so amazing to hear. What is the most memorable job that you’ve done?
Douglas: The most memorable … That’s a tough one because I have so many fond memories of so many projects. The first Avengers film was memorable because there was a buzz, there was a vibration, a frequency, that was in the air when we were shooting that. We kind of knew we were making something big and something special. I don’t think any of us knew how big or how special it would be, but that certainly is one of the most memorable and most special projects.
I’m pretty good about focusing on the positive aspects of all these things, regardless of how difficult the project may be for whatever reason. The pros always, always heavily outweigh the cons, but I have a lot of wonderful, memorable experiences. Another one, it’s the polar opposite only because of the conditions in which we shot, but Birth of the Nation was one of the most memorable and exceptional experiences of my career. I was on the wrong side of 40, had 25 years of experience, and had still never worked so hard in my entire life. We did a 50-day shoot in 27 days. So proud of the work we did.
It was 100 degrees with 99 percent humidity, we shot it in the summer in Georgia, in Savannah, so it was hot, humid, and just getting the makeup necessary to be on individuals to stay put was its own challenge. And then the other challenges only added to that. But Nate Parker, the director, writer, producer, and lead actor, he is a special human being. And he was inspiring from start to finish. Usually, the first people in are the teamsters, transport department, and usually I’m second. He beat me in almost every single day. He’s in three hours before he needs to be. That was a very special experience.
Nerds and Beyond: Finally, are you excited about the news of Loki Season 2?
Douglas: I’m beyond thrilled! I invite being in the dark a little bit, I kind of like surprises and I like not knowing, so I suspected, but hearing the news confirmed, I was thrilled, naturally. What are they going to dream up? This is amazing. How do you top season 1 of Loki? That’s the burning question.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CV
It was a love story from the very beginning
Gabe, the Sexologist Archangel
(13x20/13x21)
Hello my dears! I will talk today about a very interesting topic and how Gabriel's character was used as a reminder and also as a realization of angelic sexuality. Not just that, but a constant introspection to sexuality too for Dean.
Gabe as a reflection of Dean
First of all and before jumping to Gabriel sexy bones, let's talk about the way Dean was talking with his husband at the phone as he was scolding his little brother at the same time... I'm talking about episode 13x20, "Unfinished Business"...
[Dean’s on the phone with Cas]
DEAN: Yeah. No, we just got in. Mm-hmm.
DEAN, to SAM: What are you doing? Don't unpack.
SAM: Dude, we could be here for days.
DEAN: No. No. Hey, hell, no.
DEAN [again to Cas over the phone]: Hey -- No, not you. That's… Just call us when you get to Amarillo, all right?
[he disconnects his call]
Why am I pointing at this scene? Because when Dean realizes Castiel thought he was yelling to him, he immediately changed his body language and the tone of his voice became more sweet, almost intimate, as if he was saying: 'No, not you, babe." It looks like that and it sound like that. Just go rewatch that scene and die with me.
The encounter with Gabe
Gabriel will speak and behave as if he were showing future Dean, but also, will bring the sexual references.
Just a little thing over here to connect with my meta of hands and foreshadow, in the middle of the battle between the Nordic gods and the boys we had Sam touching his neck, as a foreshadow of they way he will die in episode 13x21.

DEAN: Whatever. What did they want with you?
GABRIEL: I killed their brother.
This is very meaningful because if we took the demigods as the angels and Gabriel talking about killing their brother, it's what Dean will do when he will kill Lucifer in 13x23.
While Gabriel was telling his story, Dean was the one imagining it. And how his mind went from porn stars to watch a man receiving a relaxing touching from a handsome black haired boy with a red ascot, related to Dean and his own bisexuality.
GABRIEL: Don't let anybody ever tell you you're just a pretty face.
[Dean frowns and shakes his head at that]
This is so cute, because Dean is listening to him as if Gabe was his teacher. He feels identify with Gabe story and words. Gabe is literally, a Destiel Sexologist.
GABRIEL: Oh. That top one? That is for the man with the plan, the architect of my torture, and my own personal public enemy numero uno. Their papa… Loki.
The big similitude between Gabriel's revenge on Loki for being his torture, and Dean's trying to find and kill AUMichael, for being his torture too, in 14x03, is noticeable.
Another important paralell is Gabe taking a new identity to hide, but, adopting Loki's shape by doing it. This is the same with AUMichael, who will take Dean and a woman's shape.
Another foreshadows...
Pay attention to Kevin's last words...
KEVIN: Michael doesn't want to kill you. He wants to break you. He said for me to tell you that, “Even if you win, you still lose.” I'm sorry.
This is what Michael will do with Dean. He will break him while releasing him at first, making him think he won, and then will possese him again in 14x09.
Dean going alone to kill Loki is Jack going alone to kill Michael.
But... Loki vs Gabe (played by the same actor, it means, the same two faces) as a foreshadow for AUCas vs Cas, but mostly, AUMichael vs Dean in Rocky's bar (14x10)
Now, it's time to see Angels can have active sexuality.
Jumping to episode 13x21...
Let's talk about Sammy's dream. And Castiel, the pizza man, giving Dean his pizza. Even when he ate 7 pieces.

7 is the number that will appear too on episode 15x10. And is symbolically talking about TRUTH. So, practically, Dean will have the truth from Castiel in 15x18!
But also the innuendo that comes with it... Because this episode will talk about angelic sexuality.
Grace and virility
A lot of points and scenes with sexual innuendo throughout the episode, because Gabe is here:
Gabe taking off his own grace could be related to masturbation, thanks to Castiel's hands gestures and Dean's reaction.
The little grace Gabe gives them to open the portal was related to Erection. Also Gabe following "the fall" of the rift with his own sword.

Tumblr media
His dialogue with Rowena as he read a book with a pipe on it, another sexual reference to erection.
The seduction after that between the red haired witch and the Archangel.
The "make out session or more" between Rowena and Gabe with it's consequences as they were caught: Dean is amazed, Sam is speechless and Castiel is ashamed (because the sacred oath).
The incident after they arrived to the AU, in which Gabe's face is on Castiel's crotch, a very gay scene for Dean's eyes. Which at first was staring at them with curiosity and suddenly in turned out into a gay panic mode.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The triumph over the brother's pathological codependency (at least for now)
When Sam dies there was another scene writers tried to show how the pathologic codependency could be left behind. Castiel stops Dean who was heading to look after Sam. The angel said it was in vein because he was already dead and there was a mission: to find Mary and Jack.
The trust in Castiel won over the codependency between brothers. Even when it was a very controversial way to show it.
To Conclude:
Gabe's character introduction brought the idea of sexualization of grace and angels.
The idea of a sexual active Castiel blocked by the sacred oath and the introspection of Dean's bisexuality.

Chapter Nine
The sun shone through the tall windows behind Cori’s bed. She rolled over, shielding her eyes, then closed them again. Her first thought was that it was Saturday, no work and whatever fun things she had to do. Then reality hit her – the night before. She winced and squeezed her eyes shut. Seth was cheating on her, or at least had a fling with someone, when he’d said he was out of town. Colin had kissed her, and realized she was the one he pulled from the ledge, the one whose life he’d saved, the one that made him miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. All bad.
She slowly sat up, realizing she was still dressed from the night before. Everything on her bed was damp, including the clothes she was wearing. She’d gotten absolutely soaked in the rain. She crawled from the bed to the bathroom, peeled out of her dress and turn the shower on as hot as she could take it. She lingered until the water started getting cold, then stepped out and dried off. She put on her terry cloth robe and went to the kitchen and made a cup of tea. Then she dropped onto the couch, laid her head back on the cushions and tried to figure out what to do next.
Her phone – what had she done with it? She jumped up, looking for her clutch, and found it on the nightstand, her shoes set neatly in front of it. Had she done that? There was a blanket from the couch on the bed. She didn’t remember covering up with it. Then again, she was so out of it, who knows what she did.
She checked her phone. There were 20 missed calls from Seth and multiple text messages – “where are you?” “Cori, please call.” “Cori, tell me where you are, I’ll come and get you.” “You’re scaring me, please call”.
Notably absent was anything from Colin.
The time on her phone said 1:14. She’d slept the morning away, which was probably a good thing. Being awake just made her feel like shit.
First things first. She texted Seth – “Saw you coming out of the hotel with the redhead. We’re done, lose my number.”
Next she texted her mom, who had left messages checking on her. “Ma, I’m good, late night. I’ll call ya later.”
With that out of the way, she could concentrate on how the man she loved so much across the hall was now in her distant past. There was no fixing it. He was so angry at her after he kissed her. It had gone from the most amazing moment, a kiss even better than the one before, to his face filled with anger and hurt. Like her, he must’ve wondered all this time what the hell happened that day. She knew he’d had some kind of accident and his heart had stopped. The same thing had happened to her. Could it have been the same day? At the same time? That seemed too crazy to be true, but something had to have happened for them both to have had the same vision.
She thought about how pathetic she must look to him, wandering the streets of Boston in the rain like a fool, then knowing he knew she wanted to take that last step off the cliff. She never really wanted to die, she just wanted to stop hurting. Everywhere she looked reminded her of Matthew and the future she thought she’d have with him. The changes she’d made were great, and, with Colin in the mix, she’d finally been able to move forward and feel good about herself. If she was honest with Seth, she’d liked him a lot but she would’ve left him in the dust if Colin ever showed interest in her. But that wouldn’t have happened before, and it sure wouldn’t happen now.
The last text was from Sarah, asking if she wanted to meet tonight for a drink. It was the last thing she wanted to do, but she didn’t want to sit alone with her thoughts all night. She texted back and they had a plan to meet.
She spent the afternoon doing laundry and cleaning. At 7, she slipped out, making sure Colin was nowhere around. There was no way she could face him. She walked to the bar and met Sarah, giving her a hug and finding a booth.
“No offense Cori, but you look rough,” Sarah said, concern in her voice.
“I know,” she said quietly. “I had a really bad night.”
“Really bad, as in, you and Seth had a fight?”
“Really bad, as in, Seth told me he was out of town but he lied and I saw him coming out of a hotel with another girl before our date.”
Sarah made a face. “Oh shit.”
“Exactly.”
“That asshole.”
Cori raised her glass. “Cheers to that.” They clinked glasses.
“Is that all?” Sarah asked.
“No,” she said. “I really need to tell someone this but you have to promise you won’t think I’m completely crazy.”
“Cori, I’m your best friend. You can tell me anything.”
Cori took a deep breath and told Sarah everything – walking towards the cliff, the golden sky, the serenity, the hand on her arm, the hot guy whose face she couldn’t quite place pulling her back, telling her it wasn’t time and then kissing her back to life.
Sarah looked at her and blinked. “Holy shit.”
“I know,” said Cori. “And the guy was real.”
“What?” said Sarah.
“I found him last night. He kissed me again and we both flashed back to that moment.”
“No way! Oh my gosh Cori, how did you find him?”
She shook her head and sighed. “He’s been here all along.”
“Who?” said Sarah, clapping her palms on the table.
Cori let out a breath. “Colin.”
“What?” Sarah squealed and Cori reached across and smacked her hand.
“Would you hold it down?”
“Oh my God, that’s the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard. He saved you and then you found him, and you’ve been getting to know him. Did he realize it too?”
“Oh yeah,” Cori said with some sarcasm.
“He must’ve been thrilled! Did he kiss you again? Did you stay with him last night? Are you together?”
Cori’s heart felt like it was being squeezed again. “No, he hates me.”
Sarah gasped. “Why? Why would he hate you? He rescued you!”
Cori explained that something happened to Colin that day too, and while he was dealing with whatever it was, he caused the band to miss their meeting.
“He looked at me last night and said I ruined his life. He look absolutely disgusted. Then he turned and ran away from me.”
Sarah’s face fell and she covered Cori’s hand with hers. “Oh Cori, I’m so sorry. But honestly, it’s not your fault. If something happened to him, it’s not like you caused it. It’s not fair that he blames you.”
“Well he does,” she said, peeling at the corner of the label on her beer bottle. “And honestly, how can he not judge me. I was going to walk off a cliff willingly. If I had been stronger, if I hadn’t been so emotional, there would’ve been no need. Who knows, maybe he would’ve woken up sooner if I wasn’t in the picture.”
Sarah patted her hand. “Look, this is a crazy story, but you shouldn’t take all the blame. Why don’t you go talk to him? Have you told him about Matthew?”
“Yes.”
“Was he sympathetic?”
She thought about it. “Kind of. He said if it was him, he wouldn’t have taken a relationship into college, but he respected that I did. I need to just forget about him. He and I have gotten closer over the past few weeks but he’s never shown any interest in me. I think he saw me as a friend –“
“Saw?”
“Yes, past tense. I don’t think he’ll ever want to see me again, as a friend or anything else.”
They got another round of beers, talked more about what a shit Matthew and Seth were, lamented Sarah’s past relationships and got more beers and shots. By 10 o’clock, Cori was drunk. Sarah helped her out of the booth and walked her to her building, making sure she got up the stairs to her apartment. She left her with a promise of calling tomorrow.
Rap’s was as rowdy as ever and Rock the Cradle finished their set and ordered a round of beers. Colin couldn’t get her out of his head. He kept seeing her laying on the bed, so broken, her face fraught with worry even while she slept. Then he thought about how nonchalant Seth was about being with other girls. Cori wanted stability, someone she could count on. She wanted someone she could love that would love her back, someone that would care about her forever.
“Hello? Earth to Colin!”
He shook his head. “What?”
The guys all started talking at once, asking what they were going to play for Cori’s fundraiser.
“I haven’t thought about it.”
“Well you’d better start,” said Evan. “It’s a week away.”
He blew out a sigh. “I know,” he moaned. “I’m sorry we ever took this thing.”
“Dude, it’s good money and it’s for Cori. She’s great. It was really nice of her to think of us.”
“When are you going to wise up and ask her out?” said Kevin, and all the guys “ooh’d” followed by laughs.
“Yeah,” said Spencer, “we all know you’re crazy about her.”
He looked down at his bottle. “She isn’t interested in me,” he said with some sadness.
“Bullshit!” said Kevin. “She’s crazy about you! The other night at the party at Rap’s, while you were getting dressed, she couldn’t shut up about you. She had that look, you know, when you talk about someone that you think about all the time. She’s got it bad. But I don’t think she’s the kind that you screw and then hide while you’re waiting for her to leave.” They all chuckled.
“No way,” said Evan. “She’s a keeper. A guy would be lucky to have her. And she wouldn’t put up with your shit.”
Colin had felt a constant tug in his chest since last night, and it got stronger as he listened to the guys talk. He’d seen something in her eyes last night that he’d never seen before – she was in love with him. When she realized who he was, that they’d shared such an intense, intimate moment, she’d opened up and told him how special he was to her. She was so soft and sweet, drowning in the rain with those beautiful eyes full of adoration. She’d melted into his kiss, pressing her entire body into his, and she’d held onto his arms as he angrily pulled away from her. He saw her smile fall when he’d snapped at her. She looked like a little girl.
He shook his head, trying to shake the memory. “Look guys, there’s nothing there, ok? I don’t want to talk about her,” he said sharply. “I’ll text you a set list on Monday, rehearsal on Tuesday.” He set his bottle down on the table and slid out of his chair. “I’m going home.”
He walked out of the bar and headed home, determined to forget about her.
When he opened the door, the lamp in the living room was on – it wasn’t when he left. He stopped and looked around, stepping cautiously down the step into the living room. There, on his couch, was Cori. She was wearing a cream v-neck sweater that had crept off her shoulders and showed lots of cleavage. Her hair was down – he’d never realized how long it was – wavy and gorgeous. She stood up as he entered and he could see she was barefoot, the little pink nails in full view. Her faded jeans hugged her curves perfectly. She looked incredibly sexy and he swallowed hard as he took her in.
“How’d you get in here?” he asked.
She took a wobbly step towards him. “You’d be surprised how friendly the Super can be if you have on the right sweater.” She walked right up to him, her face just inches from him.
“You’re drunk,” he said.
“Yeah, so,” she said. “Is that illegal?”
He chuckled. “No, I’ve just never seen you this way.”
She laid her hand on his chest, feeling the definition of his pecs underneath. She rubbed softly, laying her other hand on his waist, pulling as close to him as she could be without her body touching his. “You’ve never seen me at all,” she said soft as a feather.
He swallowed again, staring at her beautiful eyes and those sweet pink lips. He wanted to devour her, but she was drunk and it wouldn’t be right.
“Cori,” he breathed, putting his head down to distract him from her gorgeous face, “we can’t do this.”
“Why?” she said quietly. She let her hand run up his chest to the back of his neck, her fingers winding into his hair. “Why don’t you want me?”
He put his hands on her waist, mostly to steady her and control her movements, but his hands felt so good there. “Cori,” he breathed, drinking her in with his eyes. “Not tonight. You’ll regret me in the morning.”
Her other hand found the back of his neck. She tugged at the hair there, pulling him close to her, looking into those beautiful blue eyes. “I know I’m not like the other girls. I know I’m not pretty or sexy like them. I know I don’t have what they have –“
“Cori –“
“And I know you’re angry at me and I’d never ask you to forgive me. I just want a chance to show you how much you mean to me. When you kissed me that day, you said it wasn’t time.” Her eyes rimmed with tears. “Maybe it wasn’t time because we’re supposed to be together, just once. Just once I want you to hold me the way you hold those other girls. I want you to say all the things to me you say to them –“
He touched his forehead to hers. “Cori, don’t –“
“Please Colin. Please, just for tonight, I just want you to want me. Please.”
He wrapped his arms around her lower back, palms spread, pulling her to him. “Can I kiss you?” he asked.
“Yes,” she whispered. His lips were so soft. His tongue ran along her bottom lip and she let him in, the kiss deepening. Her hips pushed forward so she could feel his arousal through his jeans. She pressed her entire body against him, melting into him, just like she did that day by the cliff.
He kissed her bare shoulder, kissing along her collarbone to her neck, brushing the shell of her ear. “I’ve always wanted you,” he breathed, kissing just under her earlobe and feeling her moan against him.
She let her head fall back as he kissed her throat all the way down to the hollow, then he took her face in his hands and found her lips again, an urgent kiss that was all teeth and tongue. She sucked gently on his bottom lip, and he let out a little moan.
“I’m going to take you to bed,” he said softly.
“Finally,” she smiled, kissing him again.
He reached down with one arm under her knees and the other behind her neck and hoisted her up, carrying her to the bed, never breaking the kiss. As he laid her down, her hair spilled out around her face, the sweater barely covering her breasts. He caged her in with his hands on either side of her head, his knee between her legs.
“Can I kiss you here?” he asked as he touched the swell of her breasts.
“Please,” she moaned. He kissed the soft mound, nudging the sweater down until her taught bud peeked out. He licked it gently and felt her respond underneath him, pushing her hips up against his jeans looking for some relief. He gently pulled the sweater away from her other breast, exposing the other peak that was so hard and aching for him. He caressed it gently with his tongue, then took it between his teeth – the moan that came from deep in her throat made his cock twitch in his pants. He pulled the sweater down to her waist, pulling it off her arms and slid it all the way down and off, then he reached for the button on her jeans, unzipping them and exposing pink lace panties.
“Can I kiss you here?”
She stared at him. He was so close to that precious bundle of nerves, the anticipation was painful. “Yes,” she said urgently.
He kissed just above the panties below her navel – she was as soft as silk and smelled like lavender. Slowly he pulled her jeans down below her knees and she kicked them off to the floor. She bent one leg at the knee, bracing it against him as he pulled her panties off. He raised up to look at her, completely nude and ready for him. The moonlight that shone through the window highlighted her beautiful curves. He kissed slowly up the inside of her thigh, one hand cupping her ass cheek. He heard her gasp as he slowly ran a finger through her folds. She was so wet for him, he leaned back and admired her for a bit, then leaned in and gently sucked on her sensitive bud. She cried out softly, burying her hand in his hair and tugging at it a little.
“That ok?” he whispered.
“Mm hmm…” she moaned.
He carefully placed two fingers inside her, finding the soft spongey spot inside her that made her back arch and her hand pulled his hair a little harder. He moaned, pulling himself up a little, licking softly at her clit.
“Colin…I…oh fuck, please,” she breathed out.
He pulled his fingers in and out more quickly, his thumb rubbing gentle circles over her bundle. He lifted himself up so he was over her, locking eyes with her.
“It’s ok baby, I’ve got you,” he said in his sexy low timbre. “Come for me…”
She cried out and let go. He continued to pump in and out of her, helping her through until she started to come down. He pulled his fingers out slowly, bringing them up to her hip.
“You have on way too many clothes,” she panted, still out of breath from her orgasm. She reached down and pulled his t-shirt over his head, the medallion from his necklace landing on her chest. Her hands made quick work of his belt buckle and the button on his jeans, then she unzipped his fly and pushed the denim down his hips, pressing her soft lips to his, her tongue gently licking his bottom lip. He helped her out, peeling out of his pants and boxers. His hard cock bounced against her leg and she wrapped her a hand around it, and he hissed against her neck. His lips made their way along her collarbone to her neck, nipping and gently sucking with soft kisses.
She pulled back from him. “Let me,” she said, pulling him down on his side so he rolled over on his back. She straddled him, bending over to kiss him, then kissing down the column of his throat to those amazing pecs. She ran her hands over them, gently tugging at his buds between her fingers and he moaned deep in his throat. She kissed down his chest, down the line of hair above his naval, her hands on his hips.
“Have you got one?”
“In my pocket.” She reached for his jeans and pulled a condom from the back, tearing the package and pulling it out.
“Cori.” He sounded desperate, her mound so close to him. She sat up and pulled his cock up, rolled the sheath over him and slowly pumped him with her hand.
“Fuck,” he said breathlessly.
She lined him up and slowly lowered herself onto him. She gasped as he filled her up, throwing her head back, her hands moving to his belly. His hands grasped her hips and he let out a little cry.
“God, you feel so fucking good baby.”
She started to ride him, slowly, gently, reaching behind her to gently cup his balls in her warm hand.
“Jesus, Cori….”
She picked up the pace, locking eyes with him, her breasts bouncing as she pumped up and down. She let out a moan. “Colin….”
“Fuck, baby,” he said, reaching up and gently tugging at her nipples. She arched her back and picked up the pace. Needing more of him, she bent down, crashing her lips to his, her nipples rubbing against his chest. She moved her hands to his chest and he wrapped his arms around her, effortlessly pulling her to him and rolling her over. He lifted up on one forearm and ran his hand down her belly to touch her there.
“Ah, please, please, Colin…” She fluttered around him and as he rubbed her sensitive nub, she cried out, her walls clenching around him as she came.
He kissed her, his hand caressing her cheek. “I’m so close,” he breathed into her ear, slamming himself against her, her hands cupping his ass cheeks as his movement stuttered and he shouted her name. She ran her hands up his back to his sexy broad shoulders, then to his face, kissing him as he started to come down. He buried his face in the crook of her shoulder, loving her soft skin against his nose. He breathed her in, not wanting this closeness to end.
Slowly they both came down, wrapped around each other, their breathing returning to normal. Cori loved the feel of his weight on her – warm and strong – she felt so safe and secure.
Eventually he pulled out and rolled over, pulling her next to him. They laid there for a long time, silent, soaking up the feeling of being next to each other. They’d both never thought this would happen, and now that it had, it was even better than they’d imagined.
After a long while, Cori broke the silence. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Everything. For everything you’ve done for me.”
He pulled her closer. “I’m glad you’re here with me.”
“Me too.”
She closed her eyes and slept better than she had in months.

Riverdale S5 Ep11 Thoughts *Spoilers*
thoughts under cut to keep tag from being cluttered :)
- Oh yeah I forgot that Chad was blackmailing Veronica about the dirty dealings in her company even though it’s not her at all (unless it’s just been so long and I’ve forgotten but she’s my baby and I feel like I would’ve remembered but-
- Hiram and this dumb prison is one of the worst things for this show it’s a constant plot of people escaping and it’s so annoying like sure Hiram owns it and he was in the jail but no one has, like, taken him back to jail…??? Hiram is a fucking disease smh
- “back to remote learning” why didn’t you just stay that way though… like even right now in covid schools are opening back up and kids are complaining because it’s still not safe so like… just… go back to it??? I’m so not built for this world fasdhfkahf
- Veronica and Smithers 🥺🥺💞💞
- the way Veronica hugs Archie is so cute bc she’s so tiny but like she always gives her all and Archie is just 😐 never giving anything ahjfsdfsh it’s quite sad you can tell how done KJ is with Varchie lol
- “I really hate that I’m dragging you through this.” … what about constantly pulling him into your mob boss father mess that the writers refuse to allow you to escape from?
- “until you and Chad are officially done, I think we should keep our distance.” Varchie bones!!! you just KNOW that Archie has been looking forward to this because that man is whole heartedly in love with Betty and has been since forever and that while Chad prolongs the divorce papers, Archie will not be waiting for Veronica considering he doesn’t want her. Varchie = bones we love to see it!
- now who tf would join Penelope Blossom’s ministry… no one, realistically.
- can Cheryl stop being given the craziest and usually most boring plots ever please...
- Not someone holding a gun to Tabitha literally don’t hurt Riverdale’s best girl weirdo
- these bitches really haven’t aged huh…. poor Veronica though being robbed but like they stole some watches or something and the opal like that’s all you take..?? okay-
- Fangs 💞💞💞💞💞 also rip to him having to work with his ex tho
- STOP HAVING ARCHIE GO TO HIRAM WE’RE TIRED
- You know considering the whole reason why Hiram is still here as the villain and ruining Veronica’s life/growth to keep her in his plots al because Mark is a big soap opera celeb and apparently brings in money, you’d assume they would give him GOOD shit instead of everything he’s gotten. If they hadn’t of hired Mark can you imagine how much better off the show would be if they didn’t have to keep him around bc of his status????? God why-
- Reggie’s always there for Veronica muah…. oh fuck me I guess fjasjkdf
- “I work for one Lodge and it’s not you.” lmao okay??? you acting like that’s a flex, and that you’re working for the better Lodge who literally left you to die after the Serpents thought you shot Fangs so-
- MARTY BEING WHY REGGIE IS WORKING FOR HIRAM…….. YOUR DAD IS ABUSIVE LET HIM HANDLE HIS OWN DEBT??? God both Veronica and Reggie are always fucked over when it comes to their parents huh
- don’t you just love when they make characters act ooc for a plot ahhhhhh it’s totally fun to watch and totally not frustratingly annoying
- “FOR OLD TIMES SAKE.” 💞💞💞 we love Veggie even though they made Veronica act ooc and hurt him back then and they weren’t given an actual chance.
- “don’t be such a Betty” now why is Betty so surprised she only ever had fun when she was with Archie, when she’s with Jughead all she did was do what she wanted and order him around so likeefjhakdfh
- “he shouldn’t really be my problem anymore.” BUGHEAD BONES YASSSSS
- I know it was just a sound they used but like that squish sound when Darla kicked Tom’s face… did she like smash his face in damn what is this The Walking Dead?
- see the problem with them randomly bringing characters/parents in when they need them is that they’re never around so like no one really cares… like they could have utilized the parents so much (and Skeet and Marisol never would have left) and it would have been so much better than random appearances that make them look incompetent and awful parents because they’re never there during all the other times their kids need them. but we have to see the two toxic parents that won’t go away constantly??? literally what the fuck
- Betty calling Jughead’s writing cringey wbk she’s never liked his writing she was just stroking his ego bc she was his gf and had to be supportive lmaoo
- why are these 60+ year old men beating up Jughead like for why???
- so they just forgot that Tom was checking in on the convict huh gotta love dumbing down characters for plot!
- Fangs with his switchblade muah
- jealous Tabitha muahhh over a password
- “wait THE BETTY?"
- Cheryl looks so good
- Find meaning in his death… girl didn’t you not care that your husband killed your son over the illegal maple stuff I forgot the plot but it was something illegal and dumb
- “drain the vein” …...
- Reggie helping muah
- Why is Archie acting like an ass? like sure he doesn’t know that Chad is abusive and toxic but c’mon fucker you cheated on her and never apologized and you don’t even wanna be with her in the first place so why are you acting like you’re personally hurt sit down
- God Archie really hates Veronica huh… I don’t even blame him considering the shit she’s brought him into time and time again.
- Jughead was kicked like maybe five times yet he was fine falling out of a two story window and the serpent imitation but now he needs antibiotics..? plot convenience!
- literally don’t remember anything about Doc tbh or him talking to Donna and Bret like—
- ever since Negan people are obsessed with bats with barbed wire.
- also! yes please kill Hiram <3 I know they end up saving him bc of the opal but c'mon
- they searched basically nothing for five seconds wow such great detective work you guys!
- we know you just want his manuscript Jessica
- Cheryl with her rainbow skirt how cute!
- “daddykins” girl you’re like 25
- Veronica acting like she cares about Hiram fjsadhkfhas these guys thinking that they’d kill Hiram even though they need him lol
- bad bitch Ronnie we love her even though she’s gonna have to save her father to save others and get her opal </3
- not Veronica calling Archie first and not Kevin considering Kevin’s dad is there…. this is the pandering va fan service bs we have bc it makes no sense and it’s so forced
- Fangs knowing Archie rides with tools in his truck mmhm that’s a little sus idk how but archiefangs agenda coming through!
- no one would actually believe that Jessica ashkjdfsj and they take this bait…??? you gotta be joking lmao
- Jug got to help doc this time 🥺😭
- …. tell me why when he said boyfriend I immediately thought of Reggie I hate myself for wishing fahsdjkfsafj
- okay as cheesy and corny and awful the fight scene is since they posted a clip of it, them working together is so refreshing and nice we love leader!Veronica bc she’s so good at it. but the show only cares for Betty which is funny since she’s an awful detective fbahsdjfj
- my god enough with Jason’s body!!!!!!!!! you burned his body please let him stay dead let his body rest
- okay but the back and forth from Betty and Jessica is so good like I wish we could get that kind of rivalry drama type stuff all the time. too bad they refuse to let Veronica act like a normal person and get angry at being cheated on and such :/ when will Veronica slap the fuck out of Betty
- he’s not a blameless victim but Betty take responsibility for how awful a person you are PLEASE
- THE VOICEMAILLLLLLL Jughead only speaks the truth! it’s weird that he only realized what we all knew about Betty after but whatever, finally he gets upset like damn. also jeronica crumb he’s the only one to ever include Veronica smh ALSO Cole acted the fuck outta this voice mail muah
- the way Betty just sits there uncaring… she really is a freak huh god when will someone punch her in the face and take her ego down a million notches she’s so annoying
- “that’s darkness.” …?? what?
- the way bh’s relationship parallels jughead’s with Jessica though. the unhealthy habits, the bad energy, etc. except Jessica left it and Betty didn’t and it turned Betty into whatever the fuck this is. I miss s1 Betty :/
- so when will they sue Jessica for drugging them? mmhm probably never
- poor Tabitha being the only one who cares about jughead tho
- oh no I forgot there was a random musical number…
- you’re gonna have Betty and Tabitha act like THAT and not put them together so rude
- when will Cheryl be free from her mom. is was like turned on by abuse or something sigh why do the toxic (and most boring!) parents get plots and screen time and everyone else doesn’t...
- Veronica would be able to do Moree than pepper spray but whatever only Betty is allowed be “badass"
- fangs being fangs ugh so sexy my babyyyyy
- Trevor Stines is so attractive it’s a shame they only bring him back for five seconds to traumatize Cheryl over and over again though </3
- wow varchie in a pop’s booth what season is this again??
- god it’s so upsetting how amazing varchie would have been as just friends…
- the way he smiled at Veronica was so contradicting to the blank, “please don’t” expression when she was telling him she was gonna get divorced as fast as possible. why can’t he just admit he doesn’t want to be with her!!!!!! my god they’ve put off barchie long enough just let them be together so their characters can finally act in character and stop being so awful and annoying
- “this cause” what cause you fucking weirdo
- not Hiram threatening the mayor he could literally be your downfall if we had good writers fjasdkjfasf
- jughead how would you have killed him with a small wooden basket
- I like doc so much but I know we’ll never see him again until we randomly need him seasons from noow
- Betty wasn’t hit by the drugs until after the message though… how would she not remember? it didn’t seem to be doing anything to Betty until the bunker
- hopefully since they’re friends now Tabitha can make Betty act like a decent human being <3
- the way Tabitha looked at Betty please stop doing this to me...
- maybe we can finish that dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jabitha rising bughead dying we love to see it!
wow that episode felt like it was two hours long but thankfully I finally finished it… don’t have many actual thoughts but anyways hope you enjoyed my live blog of my thoughts!

Josie and The Pussycats is the Spinoff Riverdale Deserves
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This RIVERDALE review contains spoilers.
Riverdale Season 5 Episode 15
“Our story is about three young women bursting with talent.”
When last we saw Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), she was in New York City trying to make her dreams come true on the ill-fated (and gone-too-soon) Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene. Often when characters are spun-off and their subsequent shows fail, they vanish into the pop culture ether — The Ropers from Three’s Company being the textbook case of this phenomenon. But not so for Josie. This latest episode debuts a new iteration of the character, one who has achieved her dreams but still finds herself wanting more. It is a decidedly more mature take on the previously underwritten character, and one that allows Murray’s considerable acting and musical abilities to shine.
In short, it is the Josie that fans have always wanted to see.
But what good is the character without the backing of her Pussycats? Drummer Melody Valentine (Asha Bromfield) and multi-instrumentalist Valerie Brown (Hayley Law) have been estranged from Josie since she blew off the Pussycats for a solo career when they were in high school. Seven years later and the wounds are still raw, even though Melody has since become a renowned author with movie rights optioned by Tyler Perry, and Valerie is a talented artist and actress.
When Josie returns to Riverdale to take stock following the sudden death of her father, she finds herself coming to terms with her past. More than that though, she has found her voice in every sense of the word. She dismisses Mr. Lodge, the show’s big bad in a hilarious kiss off that sums up many viewers’ opinions on the often irksome character. Better still, the episode allows her to get meta to discuss how Riverdale often sidelined the Josie character in her previous iteration on the series. “I didn’t have much to say in old times,” she plaintively declares, commenting on the problem that Riverdale had with diversity in its early seasons. She then accurately dismisses Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead not as old friends but as acquaintances. It’s a bold and surprising scene that takes responsibility for past sins that the series committed, further illustrating that it is aware that it can do better and has been attempting to do so.
After a steamy reunion with old flame Sweet Pea (Jordan Connor), Josie begins the work of reaching out to Valerie and Melody. It is here that the episode goes from great to an all-timer. The chemistry that Murray, Bromfield and Law possess is lightning in a bottle. As old injustices are aired and attempts to repair wounded hearts and egos are undertaken, these actresses embody the old friends they portray fully. But this backdoor pilot, fortunately, has zero interest in having its women of color tear each other down. The characters candidly discuss their shared past, and begin to repair the rift that will — if The Pussycats goes to series — lead them to becoming the global superstars they are destined to be.
Josie, Melody and Valerie are icons. They know it, and the world will soon follow.
Inspired by her renewed friendship with her once and future bandmates, Josie decides to do a concert with the Pussycats that will raise money to help reincorporate the town of Riverdale. It is a performance that highlights each of the women’s musical strengths, even if Josie does steal the spotlight for an emotional rendition of Nina Simone’s “Stars.” Despite being cut short when Toni goes into labor, the concert is enough of a success for The Pussycats to agree to go on the road together — playing in towns where Josie’s late father wanted his ashes scattered. The women consider themselves to be equals now, thus the “Josie and” is jettisoned from the band name. This still being Riverdale, a friend of Josie’s dad appears moments before she leaves town to tell her that her father may have been murdered in New Orleans, and that voodoo might be involved.
With this incredible/ridiculous plot development thrown at us, the full image of what The Pussycats will be as a series comes into view: A mixture of Fame and 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo that celebrates these characters and their comic/cartoon legacy in an unexpected way. (As an Archie comics historian even I was taken off guard by the last-minute introduction of the potential show’s mystery angle, and my mind reels at the possibilities).
Hopefully sooner rather than later a series order for The Pussycats will be announced. There is so much potential here to tell exciting, fun, music-packed stories featuring strong women of color that it feels like a surefire hit. “The Return of the Pussycats” is not only the best episode of Riverdale this season, but a perfect pilot episode. There desperately needs to be lots more long tails and ears for hats in our future, for these are the Pussycats we’ve been waiting for.

Riverdale Rundown
While nothing has been officially announced as of yet, it feels ridiculous for The CW to not do a full series of The Pussycats, yes? This logo appearing at the end of the episode instead of the usual Riverdale bumper bodes well for things to come. Fingers crossed…
My guess is that this episode didn’t have Alexandra and Josie cross paths due to their Katy Keene past, which had the characters begin as enemies who were slowly forming a friendship before that series was cancelled. By not having them interact, the writers didn’t have to figure out where their relationship currently is — making this a narrative thread that The Pussycats could potentially pull on down the line.
The character of Alan M. briefly appears as Melody’s love interest, which indeed he is in the comics and fondly remembered 2001 movie.
Speaking of the Josie and the Pussycats movie, that film’s ever-growing cult continues to delight me. Thanks to multiverses, there’s no reason why that version of these characters and the ones of The Pussycats can’t co-exist in the same pop culture landscape.
Let’s give a special shoutout to Robin Givens, who not only reprises her role as Sierra McCoy here but also did a terrific job directing this installment.
Melody narrates this episode a la Jughead, except that her writing is bright and full of hope, a sharp and intentional contrast to her brooding counterpoint.
If you didn’t cheer when Josie and the Pussycats took the stage to their cartoon theme song, you are dead inside.
“Entertainment Tomorrow” enters the Riverdale fake product lexicon in this episode (which also includes the returning chestnut “Vanity Flair”).
Toni gives birth to a boy, Anthony.
Expect to see more about the franchising of Pop’s in upcoming restaurants, and Tabitha’s speech about the importance of the Chok’lit Shoppe being a black-owned restaurant in a time when Riverdale had no other such establishments was one of the most powerful scenes this series has ever done.
It’s worth noting that a franchise for real-life Archie restaurants did exist in the early 1970s. However the idea never really took off, and pictures of the three diners that were opened have never surfaced online.
What the hell was up with the Old Navy product placement in this episode, which felt like it was ripped from the Josie and the Pussycats movie, minus the irony.
Kevin’s dancing during the Little Shop of Horrors musical number was, unsurprisingly, everything.
Melody’s book being named Summer Storm is a sly reference to actress Asha Bromfield having a newly released novel called Hurricane Summer that was released in May.
Josie uses the alias Ms. Newmar to check into hotels. Julie Newmar famously portrayed Catwoman on the Batman TV series, which not only plays into Josie’s feline motif, but also is yet another of the show’s near-constant DC Comics references of late.
Mr. Lodge being called a “little bitch” was so unbelievably pleasing to watch. Josie is just SO OVER Riverdale’s bullshit.
In a nice character moment, Cheryl immediately leaps into action to help deliver ex-lover Toni’s baby.
Dr. Curdle Jr. being a Josie and the Pussycats superfan is comedic brilliance (as is the fact that nobody trusts him enough to have him anywhere near Toni’s delivery.

“Friends!”
Veronica’s excited voice rang through the crowded hallways of Riverdale High School. Her lips were lifted to a just as excited smile, as she greeted the newly transferred Southside students to the school.
Y/N’s eyes wandered over the group of leather clad teenagers on the other side of the table Veronica set up earlier this morning. To her, they didn’t look half as dangerous as everyone described them. They might be gang members, but after all, they were just teenagers trying to fit in with a crowd. Like everyone else in this town.
While Veronica went on about all the useful information that she gathered to make their transition as simple and easy as possible, Y/N looked over to Kevin, who’s eyes were sparkling with excitement.
“We encourage each and every one of you to drink deeply from the cup that is fair Riverdale!”, Veronica says to the Southsiders, still smiling brightly at them.
“Stand down, Eva Perón.”
Cheryl’s voice makes Y/N and her friends turn towards the stairs, where the red-head was walking towards them, Reggie and a couple of bulldogs and River Vixens behind the two.
Y/N sighed. Cheryl harassing students was nothing new, she was the self-crowned HBIC of the school, very well known for crushing one or the other self-confidence of fellow student.
“Here we go again”, Y/N muttered to herself, overhearing Jughead say something about the school spirit.
“Cheryl, no one invited fascist Barbie to the party”, Veronica says to Cheryl as she takes a proud stand in front of the group.
“Wrong, Veronica, no one invited Southside scum to our school”, Cheryl tells her. “Listen up, raggamuffins, I will not allow Riverdale High’s above average GPA to suffer from classrooms that are overcrowded with… underachievers. So please, do us all a favour and find some other school to debase.”
Y/N could see the discomfort in the Southside students eyes and the air in the hallway became thicker and thicker with the tension rising.
Y/N was always a quiet student, she was always trying to get a fairly good grade and to just fit in with the rest in an attempt to be nearly invisible to trouble and typical High School drama. She chose extracurriculars in which Cheryl Blossom wasn’t. Because she knew, where Cheryl was, drama was just around the next corner.
But today, however, she felt this urge to take a stand with the Southsiders. They didn’t have a choice after their school was closed, and Cheryl has destroyed enough people’s High School experience.
“They can’t debase this school more than someone who’s father killed his own son”, Y/N said, looking at Cheryl with a straight face, as the red-head turned to the girl slowly.
“What did you just say?”, Cheryl asked Y/N.
“You heard me very clearly, Cheryl. Anyone who looks at Riverdale High for longer than a second will see the real problem here. And that surely isn’t the Southside High students that just transferred, that is some self-centred red-headed bully walking through this High School with a cheer uniform which got HBIC written on it’s back. With such a family background like yours I wouldn’t open this mouth too wide, especially if it’s only senseless crap coming out of it.”
Y/N’s friends looked at her just as stunned as the Southsiders and Cheryl. She never got into a fight or caught up in some drama, she never raised her voice against Cheryl Blossom and never did she use someone’s problems against them.
But she had enough. They all came to this school as no one’s once, and just because Southside High School had a bad image with it’s gangs, drugs and it’s teacher uninterested in teaching, who was to say, that they didn’t want to actually achieve a proper education and go on to do some good in this messed up town? After all, High School was where future’s are made.
“Guys, everyone, can we just put our Northside/Southside differences apart and start over? A new slate?”, Archie asks, moving Cheryl’s attention from Y/N to him.
As Y/N saw Cheryl moving away from her, she let out a breath she didn’t know she held in.
“You don’t speak for the bulldogs, Andrews. And do I need to remind you? These snakes showed up at your place, trying to kick your ass”, Reggie says to Archie.
“Why don’t we finish what we started?”, a tall Serpent asked, taking a step toward Reggie, before he was held back by Jughead.
As Y/N’s eyes rested on him, she couldn’t help but think that he was quite good looking. Tall, broad-shouldered and dark haired. His eyes met Y/N’s for a split second, and as he looked at her, he looked intrigued by the girl. As if she was some mystery just waiting to be solved, preferably by him.
“I’m so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now!”, Veronica says, trying to put an end to this feud.
“Alright, everyone, let’s get to class!”, Principle Weatherbee announces, making the groups of students in the hallway split up in different directions.
“Okay, but honestly, who is she?”, Sweet Pea asks his fellow Serpents and friends, as they enter the Whyte Wyrm after school’s over, for the 10th time this hour.
Toni looked back at him with a smirk, well knowing, that Sweet Pea was about to develop a crush.
“Why do you even want to know that? Got a little crush?”, Fangs asked amused, teasing his best friends while wiggling his eyebrows at him.
“Shut up”, Sweet Pea says to him, looking at him with threatening eyes. “I’m just asking. We should thank her, she stood up to Cheryl for us.”
Jughead and Toni share a quick glance, before he says: “Her name is Y/N Y/L/N. She’s Kevin’s best friend, quiet student, and she never gets into fights. Today sure was a first for her. You really should go and thank her tomorrow, Sweet Pea.”
Sweet Pea looks at Jughead as if he’s about to punch him.
“I can’t believe you guys. I’m just trying to make a good first impression at a better school”, Sweet Pea sighs, falling down on one of the bar stools.
“A good impression? Sorry, buddy, you missed that train. After you nearly punched star football player Reggie Mantle this morning in the hallway, I’m pretty sure that isn’t the way to make a good impression”, Fangs says, shrugging his shoulder at the taller Serpent.
“That was before I decided to start over”, Sweet Pea tells him.
“Sure”, Fangs nods, laughing quietly to himself.
A few hours later, Sweet Pea’s had enough of the constant bickering of his friends. They were trying their best to get Sweet Pea to accept that he’s got a crush on Y/N, but he wasn’t going to budge.
The tall Serpent was fiddling with his phone in a booth at Pop’s, trying to hide the screen from his friends as he looked through Instagram. But he didn’t notice Fangs craning his head to get a better view of his phone.
“Oh god, now you’re stalking her on Instagram! Just text her already!”, Fangs says, nudging his best friend.
Toni and Jughead opposite them were laughing at the two, as Sweet Pea stared at his best friend again.
“Or maybe -”, Fangs began, his eyes wandering towards the entrance of the diner through which Kevin and Y/N walked at the moment, making him smirk, “- you can just go and talk to her right now.”
Confused, Sweet Pea looked around, but Kevin and Y/N have already taken a seat in a booth a bit further away from them. Sighing, Fangs gave his best friend a little push, making Sweet Pea nearly fall off the bench.
“What is your problem, Fangs?”, Sweet Pea asked, annoyed.
“You’re just too proud to accept that you’re crushing on a Northsider. Remember? A new slate. We go to the same school as the Northsiders do now, so go and befriend some. Or do more than just befriend them. Any way, you won’t shut up about her. Ever since school finished, she is the only thing on your mind. If you don’t go and talk to her now, I will do it for you”, Fangs says, motioning towards the booth that Kevin just left to go to the toilet. “There’s your chance to get her alone, buddy.”
Sweet Pea just shook his head furiously at Fangs, but soon enough, Fangs gave him another push, and Sweet Pea was standing up. Sighing, he decided to go and at least thank her, if that means they will shut up about it.
As he got closer to the booth, he saw her looking out of the window, and he hoped he wouldn’t scare her when he would speak up.
“Hey”, he says, and her head turned towards him.
“Hi”, Y/N says, smiling at him genuinely. “Take a seat.”
She motioned for him to sit down opposite her, and he quickly did, hoping to not look too helpless.
“Your name is Y/N, right?”, he asks, and as soon as he says those words, he’d like to punch himself.
Now he looked like a stalker to her.
“Yeah, and your name is?”, she asked him, still smiling.
Sweet Pea thought she was only still smiling to be kind, she must think he’s weird.
“My friends call me Sweet Pea”, he says, giving her a quick smirk.
“Nice to meet you, Sweet Pea. And sorry for the drama earlier. I’m afraid you’ll have to keep up with lots more of that over the next few years at Riverdale High. Cheryl’s ego is just sickening”, she laughed.
“Actually, I came to thank you, for earlier. You know, for standing up for us. Not many people do that, especially not if they don’t know us”, he says, sending her a smile.
“No big deal. Cheryl just had to be told off for once, not exactly my forte, but whatever.”
He smiled at her, not knowing what to say now. Y/N sighed, looking at him apologetically.
“Sorry, I don’t usually stutter while talking”, she says, looking down to her fingers which were fumbling with the fork.
Sweet Pea didn’t even notice her stumbling over her words, he was too concentrated to not sound too nervous himself.
“Don’t worry, it’s cute”, he says, making her laugh.
You idiot, Sweet Pea thought to himself and rests his head in his hand, sighing.
“I think I should go back to my friends, Kevin should be back any minute anyway, but thank you again”, he says, hoping to make a swift exit, but as soon as he stands up from the bench, she calls out his name.
“Yeah?”, he asks, turning around to her, as she smiles at him again.
God, that smile is going to kill me, he thought.
“Here”, she says, holding out a napkin for him to take.
As he takes it from her hands, their fingers touch for a minute, and that beautiful smile returns onto her lips. Shyly smirking, he looks down on the napkin to find a phone number written on it.
The smile on his lips changed from shy, to proud the moment he looked up to meet her gaze.
“I really hope it’s not too weird of me to just give you my number, assuming you’d want it”, she says, looking at him slightly insecure.
“No, of course not. Did you just write it down or did you have it prepared all along?”, he asks, smirking at her.
“I just wrote it down, it’s not like I’ve got hundreds of napkins in my bag to just hand out to guys who talk to me once, like flyers, I’m not that awkward”, she laughs, her eyes lighting up.
“Yeah, of course, sorry”, he laughs, feeling his confidence falter again.
How could he be so stupid and assume she had it written on that napkin before she came here?
“I’ll text you later, so that you’ve got my number as well”, he smiles, waving at her before quickly walking back to the booth his friends were sitting in, waiting for his return in anticipation.
As he sat down again next to Fangs, he quickly hid the napkin in one of his jeans pockets.
“And?”, Toni asks.
“She gave me her number”, Sweet Pea smiles proudly.
“That’s my boy!”, Fangs says triumphantly, patting Sweet Pea on the back like a proud father.
A couple weeks later, Sweet Pea walked straight past Fangs and Toni as he entered the school, making his best friends look at each other in confusion.
“Hey”, he says, making Y/N slightly jump before closing her locker to look at him.
“Oh god, don’t scare me like that”, she laughs, hitting his chest playfully.
“Don’t worry, it’s just me, babe”, he laughs, pulling her against him to press a kiss to her lips.
She smiled into the kiss, and as their lips separated, he took the books out of her arm and threw his other, free arm over her shoulder before walking her to her next class.
Fangs had a proud smile drawn on his face, while Toni’s expression was blank.
“That was quick”, she says, looking at Fangs next to her.
“Honestly, that wasn’t quick enough. He wouldn’t shut up about how amazing she is”, Fangs says, still looking after Sweet Pea and Y/N.
“Good for them, and for you”, Toni laughed.
“I’m so proud of my boy”, Fangs says, turning to Toni, still smiling.
“We both are”, Toni says, patting Fangs on the shoulder, before pushing him towards their shared chemistry class.

Can I just 💛💝💘
every day i lose 8 years of my life expectancy trying to come out with a spoiler because i’m lame and like to tell stories in their entirety.... but i will do this for u
💛: what is the title based on?
i apologize in advance for what i’m about to say but it’s from the mamma mia song called the name of the game! i chose it because it has a very specific childishness to it that i feel like i wrote a lot about in this fic, at the same time that it’s a coy song about wondering if the person you’re developing feelings for feels the same way about you :^) there is also the innuendo with the word game and, you know, exy. here are some of the parts i consider parallel a lot with this fic:
I was an impossible case No one ever could reach me But I think I can see in your face There's a lot you can teach me
And you make me talk And you make me feel And you make me show What I'm trying to conceal
What's the name of the game? Does it mean anything to you?
but for the sake of curiosity, here are some of the names i’ve considered so far and might switch my mind to when it’s time to post the fic:
kill your darlings
illicit affairs

language of averted eyes
💝: who has your favorite character arch? give a brief summary i KNOW it’s my god given duty to say kevin, but i actually want to say neil. i think it’s a common thing to gloss over neil’s flaws in canon, and while i suppose it depends on interpretation and whatnot, there is just something so irrevocably boring about the way people write him that motivated me to actually put in the work not to just understand neil, but to see him in his entirety. at the start of the fic, he’s entirely too dependent on the rest of the foxes to tell him who he is (much like he was with his mother), he clung to kevin because kevin gave him a purpose and neil wanted nothing more to have one, he lashed out on everything and everyone who made him even the slightest uncomfortable because that was both his flight and fight response, and he was at constant odds with himself and andrew/kevin because he didn’t know how to cope with his attachment to them. i also wrote a lot about his relationship with his mom: about the way sometimes he wishes she was still there to tell him what to do and who to be, about how much of a betrayal to her it feels to be happy still, about how alike they were.
at the end of the fic, i feel like he’s a lot better at working through his issues without lashing out or repressing them. it’s a hard process, of course, and lots of fights come from it, but i think he realizes, in the end, that no one is going to leave him as long as neil does not leave them, and that there is no reason to live on the defensive side now that mary is gone and he has to fend for himself. personally, it felt extremely cathartic to touch on these topics, and while writing neil’s pov was claustrophobic at best and downright annoying at worst, i think he’s a funky dude. could use some therapy tho.
💘: give us a huge spoiler
Kevin, from the passenger seat, drenched in moonlight, presses his lips into a tight line. Very beautiful, but that’s not the point. “I don’t understand you,” he confesses, at last. This is the longest grocery store run of Neil’s life. They hadn’t even gotten out of the parking long yet. “I don’t understand anything about you. You—” Kevin huffs frustratedly, “you don’t like me.”
That’s a way to put it, Neil thinks. “I do.”
He ignores it, averting his eyes to the window. There is nothing interesting there to see —  just cars, charmingly unrecognizable, but still just cars —  but Kevin doesn’t seem to mind it so much as long as it’s not Neil. “Then why can’t we be friends, Neil?” he asks, his voice so distant Neil almost deems it a rhetorical question; a wonder made-aloud. “I don’t understand you. I don’t understand—  us. When it’s good, it’s so good, but when it’s bad, it’s so bad.” Kevin’s shoulders fall. “I don’t like fighting with you,” he ultimately decides, “but I just can’t apologize. I can’t apologize like you did.”
“I understand,” Neil replies, forcing his eyes to meet the lamp post just in front of the Maserati to keep himself from compulsively staring at Kevin’s face. How ridiculous is their situation —  looking everywhere but at each other, blowing air into the night to avoid blowing up their relationship, worn out like a party dress. These stupid feelings of his for Kevin will be the death star of their entire planet: something will choose to grow or rot from it, but everything else will be extincted nonetheless. Tentatively, Neil asks, “Do you think we’re bad at being friends?”
“Yes,” Kevin immediately answers.
I don’t want to just be your friend, he thinks. Neil files that out for later. “How would we be if we were good at it?” he prompts, “Like you and Andrew?”
Kevin does something that’s half a scoff and half a huff —  it’s scornful regardless. “I don’t think I’m friends with the two of you,” Kevin admits, eventually. He looks small, at sudden. “I don’t know if we ever were. Neither of you know how to be friends with me.” He fidgets with the door handle for a second. “I don’t understand why.”
There is an edge to the voice —  something charged, something that implies an Am I the problem? that Neil absolutely hates. “It’s not your fault,” he murmurs, biting down on his own tongue. You did this; he is violently reminded. It’s not what Neil meant, of course, but he ultimately decides that his intentions failed him. “I think we’re just… Bad, in general.” Neil presses his lips together in thought. “But I won’t leave unless you tell me to. It’s not over until you tell me it is.”
At that, Kevin turns to him abruptly, blinking in surprise as if he hadn’t even considered the idea of a life without Neil in it. “Don’t be ridiculous,” he replies, almost stern. “I said get out of my house, not get out of my life.”
“Semantics.”
“Not semantics,” Kevin disagrees. “I don’t want you out of my life.”
“Kevin,” Neil finds himself almost pleading, “I don’t want to be bad to you.”

Everything’s Gonna Be Alright
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x OFC Stark
Rating: PG
Warning(s): Mentions of Character Death, Fluff & Angst
Word Count: 2,235
Info: I entered @littledarlinhavefaithinme Sebastian Stan Summer Song Writing Challenge. I choose to do it based off of Lullaby by Shawn Mullins. So I loosely and I mean loosely based it off the song, where she grew up with Tony, and Bucky does quote my favorite line of the song at the end. Also big thanks to @coffeebucko for making my moodboard!
Synopsis: Bruce snaps everyone back into existence and Thanos is gone. 5 years have passed and many things have changed for Remedy Stark, she’s an older sister, her dads gotten married to her mother figure and she isn't sure where she fits in it all.
Tumblr media
Remedy Stark was born at the tail end of the ’80s, her father couldn't tell her much about how she was born but he could tell her about her mother and the story of how she was brought to him. Remedy could recount the story of being dropped off at her dad, Tony’s front doorstep by her mothers grieving friend. How Tony took one look at six-year-old her and cursed under his breath.
Remedy started showing her mutant abilities just a few months after she had moved in with her father. Tony had been working with some tools when he cut his finger open, feeling bad Remedy walked over grabbed her father's finger and kissed it. After telling him it was all better Tony looked down to find it healed with not even a scar left behind. That night they sat at the breakfast nook where Tony made Remedy promise she would keep her powers to them, and she did till she fixed Uncle Rhodey’s broken arm.
Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Bono, Mariah Carey, 2Pac, Elon Musk, Madonna, Michael J. Fox, Kevin Costner, Liv Tyler, Whitney Houston, Richard Branson, Steven Tyler, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, and Leonardo DiCaprio were among the few who partied at the Stark mansion, getting to see Remedy Stark grow up. She learned to speak many languages, her best friend was an artificial intelligence named Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, or Jarvis for short, her father created, till she went to a private charter school.
Now Remedy, wasn’t as smart as her father, but she did skip a few grades here and there, graduating at the age of 14 in 2001. The same year Pepper Potts entered both her and her father's life, she watched them dance around each other in fawning, praying for the day when either her dad grew mature or one of them made a move. That was also the year her second mutation activated, all Remedy had to do was think of a place she wanted to be and she would end up there, unfortunately, it happened in front of both Pepper and her father. It became a family secret.
Years went by, she watched the only woman she ever saw as a mother figure dive in love with her father, while he became a superhero. Aliens it turned out were real, a frozen super-soldier her father spent his entire existence in the shadow was alive, assassins could have their own family and be a damn good friend, also Nazis it turned out were still around.
Being called an Avenger was pretty amazing, but what felt even more amazing to Remedy was saving lives. Fixing the wrongs in the world that you could. Remedy found a family in the Avengers. Wanda was someone who was her own and that could relate to the pressures of being someone with powers. Steve soon after the battle New York, became her best friend, a brother she never she wanted, along with Clint and Sam. Natasha, well she was another Aunt and another mother figure of sorts who brought along Bey. Bey was Natasha’s child, her pride and joy, but also Remedy’s best friend.
Turns out when you get shocked by Thor when trying to save a small nation, well it can awaken hidden powers where you can open portals. Soon everyone knows your secrets and governments well they don't care that you are a Stark, or that you save lives, they notice the fallout you leave behind.
Remedy knew Steve and her father Tony getting along was never going to last, they always had a fallout but they always came together in the end. This time Remedy wasn't able to foretell the destruction, Thunderbolt Ross would have on the group. Remedy left to go bury her Godmother Peggy Carter, then the next thing she knew she was a wanted fugitive.
Tony wanted her to hate Bucky, for killing her grandparents she barely knew, but she couldn't find it in her. It wasn't Bucky’s fault it was the men behind the controls. She could be angry at Steve for not telling her father but she could easily forgive him attempting to protect his best friend, she would do the same for Wanda and Bey.
When it was all over, said and done, T’Challa welcomed Remedy along Bey to lay low in Wakanda when they weren't trying to be vigilantes. Pepper would meet up with Remedy behind Tony’s back, updating her on her father as well as her godfather. Always going their separate ways with a hug and tears in their eyes.
Than Thanos happened and one moment she was assisting Natasha to get up after healing her broken arm, getting ready to open a portal, next she saw her body turning to ash before her very eyes. Next, she was standing between Sam Wilson, Bucky with Bey who was transformed into a Mammoth with both Princess Shuri and Spiderman on their back, as they were being portalled back to New York.
Remedy fought long and hard, the burning feeling in lungs, long since came a constant reminder she was alive. Working back to back with Wanda most of the fight, sending people her way, or defending Spider-Man, or well Peter, he had stopped to introduce himself and to apologize for the black eye back in Germany. Yeah, she could grow to like the kid and could see why her dad did too.
Seeing her dad again for the first time in what felt like forever, was crazy, especially when Remedy half expected him to yell at her, instead he hugged her. Remedy honestly couldn't remember the last time her father had hugged her. He held her tightly to the metal suit he had long lost his helmet it seemed, Remedy could have sworn she felt tears hit her scalp.
“You are so grounded young lady, I don’t care if you are 30 years old, you are grounded! No television, phone, no boys, we are going to have a long talk about what it means to be a vigilante and not talk to our parents.” Tony broke the silence that surrounded them, trying to make his daughter laugh, while she tugged him down to dodge a laser beam heading their way.
Remedy wasn't sure how long the fight even lasted but for her, it ended with her on Bey’s Polar Bear form a few yards away from Bruce Banner who was in possession of the gauntlet. Bruce snapped and the next thing she noticed was the aliens they had been fighting were turning to dust. Thanos was defeated and all of a sudden it felt like a weight was lifted off their shoulders. Exhaustion hit Remedy hard and it was expected so the last thing she remembered was the white fur, hitting her face before she was caught by Clint.
Tumblr media
The drive to wherever they were going seemed to drag on as Remedy got stuck between the two super soldiers, a guy named Frank Castle was driving and he wouldn't let anyone touch for stereo. Somehow Sam had won a coin toss and got to ride shotgun, while in the very back Bey was sharing their iPod with Wanda and Karen Page, was snoring.
When Remedy came to in the back of a truck that belonged to Castle, Pepper had been pushing her hair back. Tears had been cascading down her face even though she was smiling, Remedy had tried to smile but everything in her body has hurt. Pepper was in her suit of armor, Remedy remembered choking out the colors were far better than Dad’s, making Pepper laugh. Tony had leaned over the side of the truck kissing the crown of her head, reminding her favoritism sucked.
Soon they were invited back to Stark-Potts household because of course they got married, but it turns out they no longer lived in the city but out by Lake George. The two-hour drive listening to classic rock and alternative rock, barley any legroom, the constant sniff, and cough was starting to get to Remedy. Almost making her wish she had taken up the Peter Quill guy, or even Scott Lang offers up for a lift.
As Hozier’s voice crooned about how he should have taken better care of his lover, the road Frank had turned on to suddenly became bumpy. Steve sat up straighter, suddenly elbowing Remedy in the ribs with his sharp elbow, causing her to take a deep intake of breath. Bucky reached around Remedy smacking his best friend on the back of the skull, getting a laugh out of Wanda and Bey in the back. Steve gave her an apologetic look as they drew closer to a cabin that looked almost luxurious, right away Remedy knew this was one of her Dad’s places.
As the Range Rover came to a slow stop, Remedy noticed Happy, Pepper, and Rhodey standing on the porch together, with drinks in their hands. Remedy followed Bucky out of the car and saw the lake to her left, it's beauty was serene, she could see why Pepper and her Dad would settle here. Suddenly arms were around Remedy’s legs and holding on tightly to her, with no foreseeable plan to let go it seemed.
“Remy, Daddy said he would bring you home and he did! Mom said you would teach me how to play guitar and you’d Dutch braid. I’m so happy your home.” Remedy stared down at the little girl at her legs in confusion before she heard footsteps nearing, and a hand was placed on top of the little girls head. That hand is turned our belonged to her father and beside him was Pepper, both of which were smiling at her.
“Remedy, this is Morgan, we had her shortly after the snap. Morgan this is your older sister Remedy.” Tony was now holding Morgan in his arms, who continued to stare at Remedy was adoration.
“I know who Remedy is Daddy, I have her picture at my bedside, I tell her goodnight every night and I read to her. Well not her, the picture of her, but now I can read to her because you brought her home to us, as you promised!” Remedy felt her heart rate skyrocket, she had a sister, she had been gone five years and so much has changed. To the right, she could hear Bey screaming no, as Clint was saying sorry, everything felt louder, her breathing more shallow.
“Remy?” Pepper put her hand on her shoulder like she used to do when she was a teenager, and she felt the world was out to get her, but Pepper always reassured her, she was stronger than those who brought her down. Remy tried her hardest to smile at Morgan, but she felt perhaps it still came out more like a grimace than anything else.
“Morgan, it's so good to meet you. If you don't mind, I just need a second to catch my breath.” Remedy had reached over and squeezed her little sister soft delicate hand in a loving gesture before she turned away from her family. Her legs taking her out towards the edge of the dock of the lake, hands-on her hips she found herself struggling to breathe as her mind raced.
Where did she belong now? Why did she have to leave all those years ago, she should have come home with the tail tucked between her legs and signed the accords, they could have been a family. She had missed out on the wedding, the one she had wished for since she was a pre-teen, on her birthday cakes and falling stars. Tony had taken in Peter Parker, Spider-Man who was a pretty cool kid, but still, she missed out on seeing them interact. Here she was a big sister and she missed five years of bed life and yet she seemed to know everything about her, acted like she was the best thing in the world. What would Morgan think when she found out that she wasn't all that great?
An arm around her shoulder, the scent of metal, tea tree, sandalwood, amber, leather, and moss hit her nose, indicating Bucky was the one at her side. He ran his flesh hand up and down her arm, as he put his face in her hair shushing her as she began to cry. Remedy didn't need to be told that Natasha was also gone, along with Vision, people they lost in the war. Her family was falling apart and she felt so broken, yet here was a man she spent weeks on the run, months in Wakanda with, comforting her.
“I’m not sure about you, but I feel a little lost right now, but that's because we are in a strange place, but I promise you Remedy, you got me. You aren’t alone and we’ve got Sam and Bey as well as Steve.” Remedy kept her head in the crook of Bucky’s neck as the vibrations of his voice soothed her along with the smoothing up and down motions of him rubbing her back.
“Everything’s going to be alright.” Bucky kissed the crown of her forehead and looked out at the water while he just held Remedy in his. He vowed to keep her safe and maybe they could help each other piece themselves back together in this messed up world.

Nora Sakavic: The Raven King (The Foxhole Court #2) | Lara
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Foxes are a fractured mess, but their latest disaster might be the miracle they've always needed to come together as a team. The one person standing in their way is Andrew, and the only one who can break through his personal barriers is Neil.
Except Andrew doesn't give up anything for free and Neil is terrible at trusting anyone but himself. The two don't have much time to come to terms with their situation before outside forces start tearing them apart. Riko is intent on destroying Neil's fragile new life, and the Foxes have just become collateral damage.
Neil's days are numbered, but he's learning the hard way to go down fighting for what he believes in, and Neil believes in Andrew even if Andrew won't believe in himself.
“They were exhausted, sore, and more than a little disappointed by their loss, but the Foxes left the stadium feeling like champions.”
They are every fucking inch the champions. Excuse me, where can I sign the adoption papers for the entire Palmetto State University Team? I am a complete fucking mess over this book – like, the ultimate kind of mess I haven’t been since reading Six of Crows and I’m screaming internally and externally from the chilling ecstasy reading this book woke in me (I don’t get it how my family isn’t obsessed over the characters or at least doesn’t understand my constant screeching). And now I’m stuck between procrastinating the last book because I don’t want it to end and desperately wanting to see what happens next.
This book skyrocketed above all my expectations, taking my love for sports and love for damaged characters wronged by the world to a whole different level. I am breathless, I am at a loss for words, lost in the sea of emotion this book released in me for an infinite moment that I have been reading it. There is so much about this book that makes it amazing – writing most of all, for how can you have a good book without an amazing author who knows exactly what to give his readers. Sakavic illustrated life in sport – imperfect and fucked up life with a lot to work on, but the idea of that feeling of importance and belonging is still there and I cannot thank her enough for giving such a voice to a one-of-a-kind athlete.
“Look. Shit happened. Shit's going to keep happening. You don't need me to tell your life isn't fair. You're here because you know it isn't. Life doesn't care what we want out of it; it's up to us to fight for what we want with everything we've got. Seth wanted us to win. He wanted us to make it past the fourth match. I think we owe it to him to perform. Let's show the world what we've got. Let's make this our year.”
If there is a heaven for books, this one has a throne waiting for it there. The first one was a hell of a shocker, but The Raven King was ten times more so. The intensity of its plot was enough to fry every single one of my brain cells – from the intense and vivid games and mafia wars to immensely complex and intertwined character interactions – this book is everything I’ll be thinking about for the rest of my life. Foxes playing together, fighting for each other and trying to overcome their differences and help each other with the trauma is something I am not ready to let go of. They are such a messed-up bunch, but what’s there is the ferocity of their characters that is still there after everything, that drives them forward to fight for their team no matter what. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but fuck me, what did I do to deserve this book?
“He was their family. They were his. They were worth every cut and bruise and scream.”
It is so amazing how I literally can’t find one character that I don’t adore in this book – all of the Foxes completely occupied my heart and have no intention of leaving anytime soon. Neil Josten is the carrier of the plot and his problems keep growing. The situation with the Moriyamas is unraveling and he is in more danger than ever – only now he decided not to be afraid. The belonging that literally saved him and his love for Exy are the things that keep him fighting for his Foxes – the only thing he has left. I love every part about this sassy boy who took it upon himself to fix his team in order to take them where they all deserve to be – on the top.
“Your parents are dead, you are not fine, and nothing is going to be okay. This is not news to you. But from now until May you are still Neil Josten and I am still the man who said he would keep you alive.”
The entire story is told from Neil's perspective as the main character but I feel like this book was mostly oriented on a strong-willed amazing creature that is Andrew Minyard. Geez, if you thought the first one was dark and fucked up then you're up for a treat. I finally came to understand the damage he'd undertaken and the abuse he had endured. The darkness that comes from him can only find any consolation in the need to protect what's his like no one protected him and I really want him to be better and find some purpose in Exy.
I also have a new discovery and it's called my love for Kevin Day. I usually have a distaste for cowardly characters, but his will and determination, as well as despise for himself, give him a deep dimension of someone who needs to recover and get over his long-induced trauma. He pushes himself to be better when everything has been taken from him and I nominate him for the biggest cinnamon roll of the month.
But my love doesn’t stop there – no, no – there is also Nicky who is such an icon, fierce Dan and loyal Matt, sweet Renee, determined Allison, and even asshole Aaron, but they’re all part of something amazing.
“Neil thought about Renee's bruised knuckles, Dan's fierce spirit, and Allison holding her ground on the court a week after Seth's death. He thought about his mother standing unflinching in the face of his father's violent anger and her ruthlessly leaving bodies in their wake. He felt compelled to say, "Some of the strongest people I've known are women.”

Totally Awesome
by Viorica
Wednesday, 14 October 2009
Viorica finds a Potter-related bit of media that actually deserves the hype
Oooh! This is in the Axis of Awesome!~
Parodies are a tricky thing. If you've got too much of a hate-on for the source material, you end up being too bitter; if you love the source material too much, you can't effectively make fun of its flaws; and if you just don't care either way, you get something like this. It's a difficult tightrope to walk, but when you're lucky/talented enough to get it right, you end up with A Very Potter Musical. Written by college-aged fans of the Potter series, it combines the best of the original series with the talent of the actors and writers involved, and ends up eclipsing the source material entirely.
The story takes place in Harry's second year, and encompasses the events of all seven books. Harry and his friends (with Ron's sister Ginny in tow) arrive at Hogwarts to discover that the new teacher Professor Quirrel has R
resurrected the House Cup (which is basically a one-school Triwizard Tournament) as part of Voldemort's plan to capture Harry Potter under a bumbling Dumbledore's very nose. It's hard to describe the rest of the plot without going into spoilery detail (which I'll be doing in the next paragraph anyway . . .) but suffice to say, problems arise, relationships are formed, and Team Potter must go up against Voldemort and his Death Eaters- though ironically, Voldemort's ultimate fate owes more to the "love conquers all" theme which the books neglected and the musical effectively puts into use.
When I said in the first paragraph that the musical is an improvement on the books, I meant it. The plotting is much more streamlined (for one thing, the Trio doesn't spend months sitting in a tent, and actually condemns the seventh book's plot as "stupid") the characters more likeable, and the biggest problems with the book-
tokenism
,
Dumbledore's lecturing
,and the
delusions of grandeur
are removed in favour of canonical gay characters (the main couple is, in fact, gay, and Voldemort's redemption comes about from his affection for Quirrell- quite a divergence from Rowling's choiceless choices) a Dumbledore whose stupidity and blindness is repeatedly mocked, and a pervading knowledge that this is, in fact, a very silly story. For instance, Malfoy's conviction that there is a wizarding school called Pigfarts located on Mars and presided over by a talking lion turns out to be true; after all, how is it more ridiculous than the main concept of the franchise? The musical also addresses such all-important questions like:
How did Quirrell sleep with Voldemort on the back of his head?
Why did Dumbledore trust Snape, anyway?
What happens when two people who share one stomach get drunk?
In addition to lampshading the flaws and inconsistencies of the original series ("I just put anyone who looks like a good guy into Gryffindor, anyone who looks like a bad guy into Slytherin, and the rest can go wherever they want." "Can anyone tell me what a Portkey is? . . . Well, can anyone tell me what
foreshadowing
is?") the musical can stand on its own as a creative product. The songs are entertaining and catchy - the fan favourite seems to be "Granger Danger", but my own is "Gotta Get Back To Hogwarts:"
We're sick of summer and this waiting around It's like we're sitting in the lost and found Don't take no sorcery For anyone to see how... We gotta get back to hogwarts We gotta get back to school We gotta get back to hogwarts Where everything is magic-cooooool Back to wizards and witches, and magical beasts To goblins and ghosts and to magical feasts It's all that I love, and it's all that I need at HOGWARTS, HOGWARTS I think I'm goin' back!
But of course none of the material would be entertaining without good actors to support it, and the cast rises admirably to the task. The three leads - Darren Criss as Harry, Joey Ritcher as Ron, and Bonnie Gruesen as Hermione - all bring the right balance of likeability and flaws to their roles, but it's the secondary characters who steal the show. I suspect that Joe Moses (Snape) is familiar with the Harry Potter fandom, because his Snape is a perfect parody of the fanon version, right down to his exaggerated purr of a voice. Joe Walker makes a truly hilarious Voldemort, especially given that he has to deliver lines like "Get me some Nasonex, you swine!" with a stright face (though I am surprised that his voice held out through five performances, given the amount of growling that was involved.) with Brian Rosenthal serving as his quieter, gentler (but no less funny) counterpart. Lauren Lopez as Malfoy steals every scene she's in, with her exaggerated accent and habit of rolling around the stage. Even Goyle, who barely has any lines, cracks the audience up every time he opens his mouth. While Britney Coleman, who plays Bellatrix, has caught some flak from YouTube commenters for being "irritating" she didn't really get on my nerves. The worst you can say of her is that she didn't leave any impression at all- and with a cast this good, less-than-perfect performances can easily be buried in their better counterparts.
All in all, the musical is recommended to anyone who has a passing familiarity with the HP canon. Honestly, it's a shame that this show can't make any money, being an unauthorized parody. It's really the only thing connected to Harry Potter that I wholeheartedly enjoy, one that actually earns it's tagline of "Totally awesome"Themes:

I do think the guy playing Snape was totally channeling Kevin MacDonald's "Simon" from Kids in the Hall though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC4PjXNt2gw

Yeah, that's what I thought as well.
And, yes, she is amazingly, wibble-inducingly hot. Me likey.
Also I notice the musical has a delightfully arch relationship with the fandom - so I think purring, rolling, lounging Malfoy was a nod to both the books and his typically depicated fandom persona.

at 01:58 on 2009-10-21So glad to see appreciation for this musical. I just loved it.
It's hard to say what makes Lauren Lopez so perfect as Malfoy, except everything. The ponchy accent, the constant posing, the way she's always trying (and failing) to get Harry's attention. Somehow Draco just *is* a 12-year-old girl.
And I liked Bellatrix. She's somewhat annoying with the screaming, but that is Bellatrix, and I love that they aren't being coy about her and Voldemort having a sexual relationship. It's only one of the ways in which the musical trumps the books.
I crack up everytime I think about her face when Voldemort sits on the desk. You can see that she's still trying to make it work--but she's kind of catching on to what he's really up to.
But *everyone* is so excellent. I showed this to some of mine and we all kept remarking on how perfectly perfect Cedric Diggory is. I love the entrance of Cho Chang and just that look that the Asian actress gives. It's almost her only moment in the whole show and she makes the most of it.
You can tell that the entire cast is having a great time playing their parts--and the audience is loving it as well. And that's what makes a great live performance.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions - Auditions 4
So, despite what I said last week about not wanting the results to be spoiled to me, some jerk in the Youtube comments gave away this week’s results (and pretty much all of the remaining results for this season...I thought the finale would at least be live, but I guess not...) Needless to say, it kinda ruined my day...
I mean, some of my favorite variety acts in the history of the show were all there...And both of the acts to advance are the two solo singers with sob stories! (That’s a lot of S’s! And S is for SIMON!!!)
But since I heard them ahead of time, I was able to go into tonight with an open mind, take the results with a pinch of salt, understand that they probably would have been quite different if it was live, everyone watching at home could vote, there were more spots, etc.
And indeed, I was overall very satisfied! Everyone tonight seemed to put everything they had into their performances, and they all had something to offer...Even some singers that I wasn’t looking forward to rose well above my expectations! While I’m still very disappointed by the results, I can at least see what circumstances led to this, and overall, this is probably my favorite Champions show so far!
So let’s rank the acts that made up this strong show...
10: Moonlight Brothers. In a night filled with strong contenders, these two stuck out like a sore thumb...Ironically, by NOT sticking out! Howie pretty much summed it all up when he basically said that America is a completely different arena than where THEY come from, because if they were on AGT, they would have been cannon fodder...But hey, I thought they were pretty entertaining and had some interesting moves...Nonetheless, there was no doubt who last place was going to...Also, GOOD GOD, I’M SO SICK OF THAT FLOSS DANCE!!!
9: Issy Simpson. Didn’t know who she was before, but now that I do, I like her! ...Except she apparently already did this same trick for her BGT audition...Ouch! That’s gonna dock her some significant points!
8: Brian Justin Crum. This is who I THOUGHT was gonna get the GB, because his story is just the right amount of “inspiring” for Simon, but he’s also proven to be one of the more exceptional singers in recent seasons...Also, the promo last week showed him in front of a glittery golden background, so I thought it was a dead giveaway...Turns out I was half right, because that apparently comes up for the OTHER act advancing as well...Anyway, yeah, I still like him, but compared to some of the other acts, I wish it went to someone else...And it’s ironic, because I was ready to accept him advancing ALONGSIDE one of my favorites over the other two singing acts...And yet, the other two actually exceeded my expectations, whereas he settled on being...BIG! Not that that’s a bad thing in and of itself, but for me it just wasn’t as compelling to listen to...But I will say, that song choice was just a natural pick for him, especially since it’s from a fellow gay man! In fact, during Season 11, I was waiting to see if he was gonna perform it...
7: Drew Lynch. I’ve always considered Drew to be quite underrated, and his jokes tonight were mostly quite solid...Maybe if the set lasted longer than 30 seconds (I know that’s an exaggeration...His stutters add at LEAST an extra minute!), he’d rank higher!
6: The Texas Tenors. Ahhh, Season 4...The year I got into AGT! I was a naive young fool back then...I was VERY prone to getting my hopes up (even more than I am now!) I was like, “Well, that Kevin Skinner guy is good and all, but he’s not as good as the other singers, so maybe the semi-finals is as far as he should go...Can’t have TOO many singers in the final round, right? Gotta make room for the variety acts...Like Acrodunk! They should TOTALLY clean up tomorrow night!” That infamous season is what ultimately prepared me for the pain I would have to endure down the road if I were to continue to watch this show...And one of the biggest pains was watching these three pretty-boys (okay, the short one’s not that pretty) make it all the way to Fourth Place on what appeared to be nothing but their Southern charm! And it’s not even that I hated them; I acknowledged that they had singing talent, and they had this schmaltzy charm to them...BUT FOURTH PLACE!? I mean, I watched some great acts get knocked out in favor of them, some of my favorite acts of the season! And these rednecks get to smile their way all the way to fourth!? It was one of my first big outrages while watching this show...But why? Again, they could sing...But there was just something about them I couldn’t stand...Anyway, I’m rambling here; The point I’m trying to make is that I actually really enjoyed them tonight! I don’t know what it is...Maybe their individual vocals have improved (because they all have uniquely great singing voices), maybe the harmony has improved...Or maybe I just feel differently about them now! I guess I’ll have to go back and re-watch their Season 4 performances and make a comparison...(I have been strongly considering watching AGT from the beginning and giving my thoughts on the older seasons, seeing how they compare with my thoughts back then in the cases of Season 4 onward...)
5: Kechi. Ooh, I felt so much outrage when I heard she was advancing over the Top 4 acts in this list (who are mostly ranked like that out of sheer bias)! With all of the acts this season (and in this episode) that make me smile, seeing her tragic disfigurement again and hearing her sad story was bound to bring down my mood, and hearing that I will see her in the finals over said joy-bringing acts brought it down even more! Going into tonight, I knew she had damn well better justify her place! ...She justified her place! BY FAR her best performance to date! I think what I like about her is that she doesn’t try to belt it out all big...I just haven’t been a big fan of hers in the past because I felt that she could USE a little more “big”! And tonight, she went just big enough while keeping it nice and balanced, and when she does that, she really can be one of the best singers! I saw a hint of that in her quarter-final performance back in Season 12, but not until tonight have I seen her full potential unleashed! That said, I think it’s pretty obvious why Simon REALLY wanted to give her the GB, and I’m convinced that as producer, he made sure to arrange her to perform this week when he gets to do that! Classic Simon...
4: Kenichi Ebina. Okay, I’m not gonna deny that my constant support of Kenichi is mostly bias, because even back in Season 8, there WAS kind of a hit and miss quality to most of his performances...But I still couldn’t help but love this guy and everything he represented! Tonight was no different; The dances were mostly limited to the DDR segment at the beginning, and then he went all big fancy effects, and didn’t do a whole lot physically from there...So I can see where Mel’s coming from...But I loved the effects, I loved the story, and I especially loved the little robot dog aiding him throughout...It wasn’t perfect; Honestly, his performances never really were...But I don’t think any AGT contestant has inspired me as much as this guy has! My respect for him transcends his performances! I guess that’s a major reason why I was so happy that he won Season 8 despite his imperfections, and why I was deep down hoping he could defend his AGT cred in Champions by at least making the finals...But I guess you can’t have them all...Nonetheless, I still can’t help but salute this guy!
3: Paul Zerdin. I guess there weren’t any big innovations like the animatronic effects he did back in Season 10, but as Howie said, this guy’s always finding unique ways to play with the art of ventriloquism...Like Darci, I would like to see new puppets from him (and voices that don’t sound like Howie doing a British Bobby Generic), but this guy still entertains me every time!
2: The Professional Regurgitator. I think everyone can take Simon’s opinions here with a grain of salt...His decision to buzz the guy while he had a razor blade in his throat on the other hand...From what I heard from Stevie ahead of time as well as his curse to Simon backstage, I can tell he’s pissed at this, even more than Heidi is! And I know this isn’t for everyone...I should know; I didn’t like this guy at first when he came on in Season 10 either...But with all the crazy tricks he pulled off, he just kept growing on me! This might not have been his best trick to date...but I’m still pretty damn impressed, however he pulled it off! And for all his talk of swallowing Paul Zerdin, perhaps the one who he SHOULD be swallowing is Simon Cowell! It would surely be a terrifying sight...But also cathartic!
1: Tape Face. I’m actually quite surprised that he managed to get into the Top 3 (or 4?) But it provided a slight bit of satisfaction to an otherwise disappointing result...Perhaps a big part of it is that he made sort of a love letter to the show while getting Howie and Terry to do much of the performing...It’s actually quite genius! But a big part of what makes this character so charming is simply his presence! I could only imagine what it would have been like if I was in the audience waiting to see what old AGT act would come onstage next, and then seeing that weird intro where he’s in shadows...and then sits up and reveals himself! I would be cheering...at least in my mind, because I’m socially awkward...Not much else to say; It’s Tape Face! ‘Nuff said!
So again, I would have liked to see at least one favorite make it alongside whatever sob story singer that Simon was inevitably gonna give the GB to...But for what we got, I’m happy! Onward to next week!
I’m actually not gonna bother ranking next week’s acts based on my support, because half of them are foreign acts who I’ve never heard of (but they all sound interesting), and the other half...Well, I can’t say there are any that I DON’T like...Let’s just say that there are two clear front-runners (though I know only one of them will go through), a singing group that I really like, a singer who I...like enough...and a magician who I like, but will surely be overshadowed by the other one who is one of the pre-mentioned front-runners (in fact, they will no doubt play up a rivalry with the two).
I guess that is all there is to say for now...

Sweetwater Revenge: A Choni AU
A Riverdale AU in which the Blossoms are a very old vampire family and the serpents are vampire hunters. With a peace treaty between the Blossoms and the serpents, all seems calm. That is until the ghoulies, an insane breed of vampires, begin to push their way into town. Shocking murders rock the town, but is it vampires, or is it someone out for revenge? On the other side of things is the Lodge family, still buying up land with a different, but sinister, plan.
Choni is the main focus of the story, enemies to lovers type deal. All other characters are treated appropriately.

CHAPTER 1
Riverdale was the town with pep! At least that’s what the faded sign on the town border said. In reality, the town was far more ominous than advertised. Darkness clung to everything in sight. The people, the places and, of course, all the ill formed alliances, were all shrouded in mystery. That mystery being several hundred years in the making.
Over the years the town became divided as more people failed to see eye to eye. It was understandable, given the circumstances. While most towns grappleed only with politics and poverty, Riverdale was forced to deal with something far more sinister, death.
The sprawling Thornhill Mansion on the highest hill served as a constant reminder of the terrible truth. Etched on the rusting gates was the phrase“Radices Currere Abyssi.” It was an old Latin phrase for Roots Run Deep. Those roots were deeper than anyone but the Blossom’s knew. As the founders of the town, the Blossom family owned much of the town, including Thornhill.
Most people considered Thornhill to be a home of horrors, haunted not by ghosts, but by the living. Though, some would disagree with the word living. It didn’t really apply, at least not to the Blossoms.
The town, and more specifically the residents of Thornhill had a secret. Vampires were not only real, but they owned most of the town. They weren’t vampires in the sense that they glittered in the sun and were tentative friends with werewolves. Rather, they were the sort that had a blood cellar instead of a wine cellar, and were remarkably old. No one had an exact number, but they founded Riverdale nearly 250 years prior. They also had been rumored to be around several centuries before then.
This was a difficult concept for newcomers to grasp. As such, most of the town consisted of the original families that settled there just after Riverdale’s founding.
The main families were the Blossoms, Coopers, Andrews and Lodges. The Lodge family was the sole family to actually leave Riverdale, but like most others they returned.
Riverdale was a magnet forged by demons themselves. It didn't matter that most town’s didn't have vampires or mysterious deaths. It was a town comparable to no other, a piece of it living inside each resident. No one stayed gone, not for long.
                                                         * * *
It was an exciting day for the people of Riverdale. The high school specifically was abuzz with rumours of the new arrivals. The Lodge family, though one of the original families of Riverdale, had been in New York for nearly twenty years. It marked the longest departure of the original families.
Hermione and Hiram Lodge had a daughter, Veronica, while in New York. After some legal trouble, the disgraced family decided to return to their humble roots. That's what was exciting people the most. The older folks in town knew Hermione and Hiram, but no one knew what to expect from Veronica.
Betty, of the Cooper family, was first to break the news in the school paper. It didn't take long before all of Riverdale followed the peppy blonde’s lead, trading rumours like it was a new form of currency.
It was no secret that the Blossom family both owned and ran the small town, located on the scenic edge of Sweetwater River. However, the Lodges had made a name for themselves in New York, and a showdown was inevitable.
People already knew a lot about the Lodges. For instance, Hiram and his wife started Lodge Industries together. Carefully and over time, they wove a tangled webb of various businesses, some legitimate, some not.
It was some of their earlier businesses that finally caught up with them, landing Hiram behind bars. Though, just like with everything else, money was key. After only six months in jail, he was released. Following the advice of their many lawyers, they decided to start over in Riverdale.
It wasn’t until eight thirty a.m on a breezy Tuesday morning that the news finally felt real. With the front door to Riverdale High slammed open, in came a girl with dark black hair, a neatly pressed skirt matched with a ruffled blouse and elegant string of pearls around her neck. Veronica Lodge had arrived.
Silence engulfed the crowd of onlookers until Betty stepped up with an outstretched hand and her swinging signature ponytail.
The two could not have appeared more differently. Betty with her pink cardigan and comfortable jeans, next to Veronica and her oversized sunglasses and razor sharp high heels. Anyone who knew Betty would tell you she wasn’t afraid of anything. So with a smile, she announced, “Hello, I’m Betty. Welcome to Riverdale.”
Veronica made a show of removing her glasses and gripping Betty’s outstretched hand. “Hello to you. As I’m sure you know, I’m Veronica Lodge.”
With a smile, Betty released her hand. “Yes, we were expecting you today. Can I take you to the office? You can pick up your schedule and locker number there.”
“Of course” She responded quickly, with an eye on something behind Betty. “Maybe along the way you could tell me about that red hunk of handsome.”
Turning, Betty saw none other than Archie Andrews. He was her best friend and nextdoor neighbour. He was sweet, and the closest thing to selfless a person could be. She didn’t much like the idea of introducing the two just yet.
On the way to the office, they ran intoto Kevin Keller, king of snappy comebacks and stating the obvious. He was a good friend of Betty’s, but as Veronica so animatedly offered to take him in as her best gay, she grew quickly weary of the newcomer.
It wasn't until after escorting her to the office that they ran into her worst fear, Cheryl Blossom.
Everybody was aware of who and what the Blossoms were, but generally didn’t speak on it. It was best to stay out of their way and, when necessary, give them what they wanted.
Cheryl’s striking red hair seemed to light her milky white skin on fire while her eyes felt as if they went through anything she chose to glance at. She moved abnormally quickly, but not enough to make obvious what she was.
What gave her away the most was the way she seemed to float rather than walk. Sure her fit actually touched the ground, but did so in a way that Cheryl appeared weightless.
Stepping to the side, in order to not be between them, Betty made quick introductions.
“Veronica, this is Cheryl. She is captain of the vixens, our decorated cheer squad.”
Cheryl chuckled menacingly, lacing her fingers together. “Oh sweet Betty, you know I’m far more than a mere cheer captain. I run this school and my family runs this town. Be warned, daughter of a sleazy conman, no one gets in my way.”
Crossing her arms, Veronica fired back, “I didn’t realize you and the rest of your blood thieving family could even venture outside during the day.”
“There is a lot you don’t know about my family, and if I were you, I would keep it that way.”
Neither looked like they were going to back down when, like a saint on a mission, Jughead Jones swooped in. Flannel shirt around his waist and pin decorated beanie cut in the shape of a crown, made him stand out in a crowd. His distracting presence was sorely needed.
“Whats up ladies?”
“No one was talking to you, hobo.” Cheryl replied coldly.
Veronica took a different route, with a sickly sweet voice and fluttering eyelashes.
“You are a welcome break from the Anne Rice novel I seem to have gotten stuck in. Hello there, I’m Veronica.”
“Charmed” Jughead said, failing to hide the sarcasm. “Betty, are we still on for Pop’s later?”
“I’ve lost interest in this sidebar.” Cheryl flipped her hair and floated away.
Betty chose to ignore them and only answer Jug, “Yeah, and how’s your dad?”
“Oh he’s fine, you know him, not even a Ghoulie can take him out.”
“That’s good Jug, I’ll see you later. I’m going to show Veronica to her first class.”
“Yes, dogooder Betty, on her first mission of the day.” Jughead gave an awkward bow and narrowly avoided Betty’s playful smack.
When they finally arrived at the classroom, Veronica boldly asked, “What’s a ghoulie?”
Betty thought for a moment, trying to figure out a short but accurate answer. “They are like the Blossoms, but much worse. Compared to them, the Blossoms are basically as human as you or I.”
Veronica nodded, but still looked confused, as she should be. Even Betty, who lived in Riverdale her whole life, couldn't fully explain or understand the ghoulies. They were vile, insane creatures that masquerades as a local gang. Of course they were not to be confused with the serpents. Sure they also wore leather and caused their fare share of chaos, but they were human and,  most, had morals.
For the moment, that was all Veronica needed to know. After all, she was new and not many people should be trusted in Riverdale.
                                                         * * *
Toni’s day was going much like any other. Wake up, go to school, cause a bit of mayhem, and end up at the south side bar, The Whyt Wyrm. Even being in the serpents had become more about going through the motions than anything else.
She had been lured into the gang because of her grandpa’s tall tales of vampires running wild and the small group of indigenous people that fought back with the only known weapon, the venom of a massasauga. Only the venom of that particular serpent could take down even the strongest vampire. For safety, a group of men began to gather regularly and used to the venom to take out any vampire preying on their tribe. They called themselves the serpents and her history began.
After the peace treaty with the Blossoms, nearly forty years prior, things quieted for the serpents. The peace treaty only covered the Blossom family, all other vampires that came near their land were still up for grabs.
Toni had never met a Blossom, mostly because the peace treaty only meant a cease fire, not that old wounds were healed or that there was even any understanding. They were still the enemy, and that was fine by her.
The ghoulies were both a whole different story and breed. While the Blossoms drank only from blood bags and willing donors, the ghoulies drained anything human. Whether it was a man, woman or child, they weren’t picky and never left an ounce of blood to spare.
The serpents managed to keep them out of Riverdale, both the north and south side up until that point. Rumours of them growing restless, however, had been confirmed when several ghoulies were spotted circling the perimeter of Riverdale.  For the moment, all the serpents could do was keep a close eye on them. Some members wanted to go after them, but most realized their dwindling numbers would not produce a victory for them.
Her days of checking on ghoulies and pouring beers were shaken up when FP, king of the serpents, announced they had been paid off for a simple job. They were asked to takeover and trash the drive in theater. It was true that the job wasn’t exactly usual for them, but it seemed simple enough and they were all low on cash. Toni figured it was as good a job as any. She could use a break from the monotony, and trouble was her favorite extra curricular.
For the north side, there was nothing better to do than a movie at the drive in and a milkshake at Pop’s. For the south side, there was nothing better to do than bother the north side. They had a funny relationship that way.
Unlike a lot of the southside, Toni didn’t hold any ill will against the people of the north side. Sure they were annoying, stuck up and had a nasty case of tunnel-vision, but they never did anything specifically against her.
So while she was happy to pester them in the name of fun, thats where Toni drew the line. She joined the serpents to protect people from the ghoulies, not deal drugs and rob the north side. The serpents had lost their way, and she wasn’t yet in a position to point that out.
Instead, like the good soldier she was, Toni marched into the drive in, large bucket of popcorn to toss and orders to bug as many people as possible.
