Longer snippet of Toshinori recounting his younger training days.
.
.
Toshinori nodded in understanding at Izuku. "The world definitely isn't easy. But I know you're strong enough to meet the challenges out there, to grow stronger because of them. And at your strongest when you figure out the world isn't meant for solo play and you group up with friends for help."
Like I should have.
Like you did.
Eventually.
Still did.
Izuku wrinkled his nose. "Sometimes. Sometimes whatever I'm doing is so stupid friends DEFINITELY shouldn't be there."
And now Toshinori's brain flashed back to Kamino, Izuku n Co sailing right over All for One as they grabbed at young Bakugo.
Even these days, he still felt that burst of anger, that rush to protect them, the pride of a job that was done if not smartly then at least with a whole heap of luck.
His eyes crinkled shut as he laughed fondly. "Gran Torino would be more than willing to dredge up all my exploits, I'm sure. I'm no stranger to the dumb."
"I didn't say you didn't do crazy stuff!" The kid laughed. "But you lived, and that was enough... I'm pretty sure everybody's glad about that."
A soft grateful smile.
Then the blond held up one finger. "You say that but you haven't heard these stories yet!"
He started thinking back to Gran Torino's many reactions to said exploits:
"Boy, how'd you manage to do that?"
"Yagi, what the HELL??"
"Nana, I swear to the heavens, if you didn't need this kid--"
"...seriously?"
"--Seriously?!"
"SERIOUSLY??"
Toshi was suddenly lost to laughter.
Izu grinned. "I smell a story right now!"
"Just trying to pick which one!"
"The funniest one!!"
Toshi tapped his nose thoughtfully then gave a thumbs up. "All right, lemme tell you about the first time I learned to adjust my heroing to account for property damage.
"It was a routine call, incredibly simple, really. My master wanted to see how I would handle tackling a task not exactly suited to the Quirk I was training with. She had Float, as you may recall.
"Gran Torino wasn't impressed that we had been called out to rescue a cat stuck up a tree. But as Master had put it, every little bit helped. Being a hero wasn't a lucrative career option just yet. So she wanted to instill good will whenever she could.
"I remember it was the edge of town, by a road that led out to some lovely countryside. Master wasn't surprised that I started scaling the tree immediately, so eager was I to impress her. I may not have had Float or Jet, but I had the strength to climb and so I did. Problem was, I wasn't familiar to the cat I was saving. The higher I climbed, the higher it did as well."
His eyes shone with fond memory. "Beautiful tree. One of those tall firs. The view below was a painting worthy of a museum. Tilled fields to one side, the mountains rising on the horizon, and nearby, a flock of sheep clustering by their fence and watching me. I waved and kept going, either not registering or not caring that the branches were getting thinner, smaller, whippier. Master may have called up advice to me but Torino put a hand on her shoulder. I nodded in rare agreement with him, eager to prove myself.
"The cat arched its back as I reached for it. It growled and hissed and that was probably why I never heard the branches cracking until it was too late.
"Now, if you remember, All Might is a pretty hefty guy. And well, even young All Might was fairly thick. I forgot quite how much of the tree I pulled down with me but suffice to say, I left a mark." He grimaced. "And then it got worse."
"The sheep had a front row view and just managed to scatter as I smashed into their fence. I could only watch in dazed confusion as they investigated this new set of circumstances...then cheerfully began trotting out of their pasture. Master again looked like she wanted to do something and Torino again held her back.
"I finally snapped back to it when I heard a wail of despair. I jumped up and ran to the sound, finding a cart vendor by the side of the road. The sheep had found his produce, piles of cabbage, enthusiastically munching with no intent to pay. The poor man mumbled something about having 'left Ba Sing Se because of this nonsense' and only sobbed when I tried to offer to pay.
"Master and Torino chose to intervene at this point. While he rounded up the sheep, she soothed the cabbage vendor and retrieved what she could.
"And that's when the cat landed perfectly on my head, grooming sap and fir twigs from its paws."
"Master was laughing so hard at this point that she could barely say a word until Torino stormed up. With a bemused smile, she asked me how I could have done better. I admitted I wasn't sure, that I had tried my best since I didn't have Float or Jet.
"'Ah Sunburst,' she answered. 'So close and yet...'
"'You shoulda asked for our help,' Torino grumped.
"'But I thought the point was for me to do it,' I said.
"'I never said that,' Master said. 'Only that a cat needed rescue. Hey,' she added, tweaking one of my bangs (and at that, Toshi smiled softly) 'that was the point of the lesson. And you learned it.'
"One of the left over sheep ran past at this point, cabbage in its mouth.
"'And maybe a little less property damage next time?'"
Toshi laughed now, the memory good, the story better.
Izuku tried so hard not to laugh at the plight of the poor cabbage vendor, but gave up and CACKLED at the sheep "But-- but were you okay though??" He was beaming so wide, eyes sparkling.
"Iunno, kinda fell out of the heroing business after that," his dad deadpanned. "Took up insurance from that day forward."
"Fe-- fell out..." Izuku double facepalmed
His dad just replied with the hugest grin now.

While I agree that liddol Toshi wasn't saying that there was no other role for him in the society, even with your interpretation he still gives himself less value as the others. 'Nothing is expected from me and I have no family, so I can freely go and put my life on the line to protect everyone else'. And it's not just that he was brushing off other people's kindness, it's also the fact that he saw All Might as more needed and important than Yagi Toshinori. He felt useless and helpless once he lost OFA, and had troubles with seeing how he can still be needed and usefull. Horikoshi even brought up the moment Toshi told Izuku that he can't be a hero without a quirk in this fight.
I definitely agree that Toshi felt useless and helpless without OFA. But I’ve come around to the idea that there’s not really a duality between All Might and Toshinori Yagi. OFA or not, they are the same person. It’s what Toshi tells Shoto in Ch. 386 — the body and mind are two halves of a whole. And I think Toshi’s need to feel useful arises from the person he is. It’s not that Toshi values himself “less” as much as his heart beats for others. His soul and his consciousness are at peace when they serve others. It may sound “crazy,” but young Toshi originally intended to become the Symbol of Peace without a quirk. As a teenager, he thought of his quirklessness and orphan status as assets — it meant he had nothing to lose. Why not try to change the world without a quirk? Like Izuku, Toshi just doesn’t care what happens to himself. Toshi is glad to try saving someone with his metal pipe, even if it’s a dumb idea that probably couldn’t succeed (like Izuku charging at the slime villain). Toshi thinks saving is “the coolest thing someone can do,” so he thinks nothing of putting himself in danger. Toshi’s fantasy was never having a quirk or being a superhero; it was stopping the cycle of grief and hatred so everyone could live with a smile.
Tumblr media
Once he had OFA, and became All Might (which was before Nana died, as she calls him by his hero name in All Might Rising), things got muddy. Actually, I dare say it’s Nana’s presence in his life that changed things — she cared about Toshi, and was like a mother to him. That screws up his entire reason for himself being the ideal symbol that had nothing to lose. And then he DID lose Nana, so he doubled down on keeping others at arm’s length. I don’t think it’s possible to separate young Toshi’s understanding of himself as “All Might” from his need to be isolated. He successfully pitched the idea of becoming “All Might” because he was alone, and then his life experiences proved to him that, yes, All Might needed to remain alone. Then, the more successful All Might became, and the more people forgot about the man behind the hero, the more Toshi got lost in All Might.
Over time, Toshi distanced himself from his original idea to be the Symbol without a quirk. He became less “human.” In his 50s, having survived a gruesome injury, he saw that idea as youthful folly. So when Izuku asks in Chapter 1 if he can be a hero without a quirk, well, we get Toshi answering “no.” Just like Nana, Izuku’s young enthusiasm and selfless spirit wins the hero over, but Toshi still thinks Izuku needs a quirk. It’s only after Ch.326 and the Stain pep talk that Toshi understands the real “All Might” was his heart and soul all along, not OFA. Toshi realizes his original teenage ideals were right. It’s why Ch. 398 shows us these 3 panels together:
Tumblr media
Toshinori Yagi cannot live his life in any way except for the sake of others. That means accepting he will put himself in danger in order to save. As he told Nighteye after his initial injury, he won’t stop helping until he’s dead. The difference is that now the risk of his death is far less because he’s accepting his humanity and accepting the help of others. Toshi is understanding that he’s not the only one who lives for others — people are willing to die to save HIM.
That’s why I struggle with the argument that Toshi and Izuku see themselves at this point in the story as having “less worth” than the people they save. We’re now seeing other characters like Stain laying down their lives (or close to it) to save Toshi and Izuku, as well as other heroes, villains, and civilians. The story has been clear that true heroism inherently involves risk, and frequently some kind of sacrifice. The key is knowing the difference between needlessly rushing towards death and living on to save another day. Right now, Toshi has to keep living to distract AFO, as he’s the only one who can. Beyond that, I’d say he has to keep living to see AFO eradicated, and Izuku and 1A rising to take up the mantle of the Symbol along with citizens. Creating a bigger network of hope and light is how Toshi’s fantasy becomes reality.

You know what makes 317 worse? We know Izuku is trying to protect Toshi from being targeted from AFO because of him and because Nighteye's prediction is still hanging above him but Toshi is just gonna see this as him being useless.
I need them to reconcile and hug it out right now! Or when Izuku helps finally twist Toshi's fate. We need it ;_;
(anon how do you always ask me stuff so fast?? assuming you're the same one as other times lmao)
Yeah, Izuku is doing it for his own sake, but all it's gonna do is add to Toshinori's immense guilt and self-loathing and despair that he's always had about everything, that was only starting to heal thanks to Izuku's presence.... and it's heartbreaking. I don't blame Izuku for what he's doing, everything he's going through is understandable and valid and makes perfect sense for him (he's so much like Toshinori, after all...), but god, Izuku your dad doesn't need this pain; all it's gonna do is make him hate himself more. And hell, he could put him in more danger by forcing him to try to chase after him....... not to mention the obvious fact that all the signs are pointing to, that leaving him alone could be infinitely more dangerous than staying with him, when he's not there to protect him if something happens. :))))))) Izuku, I know you promised to change Toshinori's fate, but this is not the way!!! Nighteye's predictions always come true, this isn't something that can be changed by leaving him ALONE, that is the OPPOSITE of what he needs... it's something they have to work together to do. They're stronger together, because of how much good they do for each other; separating them is the worst thing that could possibly happen for either of them. ....I'm not gonna jump off the "Toshinori will live" ship just yet, far from it, but I'd be lying if I said it's not damn unnerving and fucking stressful seeing all these parallels Hori is setting up with Nighteye and Toshinori and Izuku, and not knowing where tf he's going with all this. :''''')))))

What head canons do you have about Gran Torino?
more hc time!
He's the bakugo to nana's deku except they were actually bffs since childhood. side note, id imagine bakugo tries to emulate his fighting style after a while
he doesn't regret training Toshinori as harshly as he did after nana died. he does regret the fact that it happened at all, and the fact that it left All Might with a bigger savior workaholic complex than before
he has no clue how to interact with a child other than with pranking them or being aggressive towards them
he might be in a relationship with recovery giirl. no one knows, and both of them think its funny as shit to keep people guessing
initially he became a hero because he knew he could do it well and didn't give a sshit about life security. this changed when Nana died
for a snack he refuses to eat anything but fish shaped tayaki. Nana learned this the hard way when he tackled her after she stole it from him a few months after they first met
before nana met toshi, torino was her first choice for OFA
he was the one who found toshi after his first fight with AFO when toshi lost his stomach. he promptly threw up in a trash can when they finally got to a hospital
he likes watching really bad telenovelas just to make fun of them
he thought of toshinori as a son more than nana did (or at the very least more than she wanted to)

It's always kind of bothered me that so many people blame toshi for tenko being kidnapped by afo and act like tenko was his responsibility just because he was friends with his grandma. Like I didn't think I was responsible for the grandkids of my favorite school teacher. Sure it sucks tenko was hurt by afo but it seems like afo would have gotten his way even if toshi and GT had tried to help Kotaro--he just would have killed/kidnapped kotaro instead. And it's hard to blame Toshi for not going after him once he lost his power because he would have been killed for a slim chance of Shig snapping out of afos brainwashing. It just feels iky to me that so many people feel toshi owes tenko his life just because he didn't save him as a kid, especially when it's not like toshi failed him on purpose. Plus it's highly likely afo set it up so tenko couldn't be saved by anyone. I just don't feel like it's fair to expect toshi to be inhumanly perfect and if he's not he suddenly needs to die to make up for it.
Nana requested that neither Toshinori nor Gran Torino find her son. To keep him safe and to let him live a normal life. And when she died that’s exactly what they did! That’s what she wanted! Of course Toshinori feels guilty, he probably wanted to look for Kotaro many times, but felt guilty breaking his promise to Nana.
It was in no way Toshinori’s fault

I have this really angsty idea about an bnha / mha end where, in order to defeat AFO, Izuku needs to trust Tomura and give him One For All.
*Edit: Please check this other post after reading this. It's the comfort counterpart of this post, with how things work out in the end and how all the sadness fades into a new light.
The vestiges just need to help holding AFO back, because the mix of the two powers are too much for his body to handle and Tomura plans to decay himself, finally putting an end to what his sensei started.
And what if the news are streaming it happening in live in every screen of Japan? Now everyone is watching how Tomura is giving his life in one of the most painful ways possibles to avoid Izuku or All Might dying, to save the world.
Imagine the reactions of the League of Villains, watching Tomura do everything he can to make their dream come true: a new world, where they are accepted, where they are free, free of AFO and free of the whole "heroes and villians" point of view.
Imagine the reaction of the pro-heroes that never respected Tomura and thought he was just a man child. Imagine them finally understanding that Tomura needed rescuing but none of them gave him the hand he needed. And now there's nothing they can't do to erase the tragedy of a kid that even while he's dying, he won't stop smiling and telling the world everything will be alright.
Imagine class 1-A seeing it all and knowing that it could be Izuku. They could be the ones losing a friend. The are so similar, how could they not see it before? And even if Tomura was a real villain, there's people who love him that are losing him too. He's human. And he's— he's—
Imagine Ochaco and the girls holding Toga back, because she's struggling to go with Tomura. No one have ever seen her crying like that. Why? Why can't she help the man that became like an older brother to her? He promised to never destroy what she loves, but now he's decaying himself like he doesn't matter, like she doesn't love him, like she wouldn't give everything to share his pain one last time.
Imagine Natsuo and Shoto having to pin Dabi to the ground because they know he longs to do the same as Toga. Imagine Rei hugging her son after so many years, holding him in her arms, trying to calm his fire with her ice, whispering whatever she can to reassure him. But what can she do? She heard the story of how that other kid lost his family and she wonders, she wonders about the mother that ran to his child even as he decayed her. The Touya she knew was filled with rage and bitterness and even if he's still there, in the tears of blood of her son now she finds the silhouette of a man that learned to love. And now the man who taught him that, that showed him kindness and mercy, has only minutes left. She weeps for the mother that would never see her child becoming a hero, she weeps for his own kid, a living corpse more than ever, empty eyes, resigned. She weeps for herself. They have Touya back, but she's wondering if the cost of righting those wrongs is too high.
The whole League needs to be held back. They have lost so much, so many times. Over and over again they've seen their friends die. No one cared except them. No one cared for Magne or Twice or Compress arm. Only them, tight together in dirty holes and lonely buildings.
There's nothing the pro-heroes can do.
Spinner is sobbing and screaming that all along Tomura has been more a hero and a human than any of them. Fuck Stain. Tomura fought for them when Stain was too busy fulfilling his selfish wishes. Fuck everyone. Tomura broke himself again and again and proved that he cared about them when no one else did. He was the champion of the fallen, the hero of those who had lost hope. He, the kid that was left to die, the kid that was groomed and manipulated, a living experiment who was even possessed, abused in so many ways, dismissed. If there's someone that should be destroying the world, that's Tomura. He had lived with the greatest shadow on Earth. And there he was, using the quirk that everyone said was for killing to kill their fear, to kill they're sadness, to put at end to the suffering. A light so bright no evil could ever fade it.
Imagine Aizawa and Present Mic being with Kurogiri while he's losing the kid he raised, his loved son. For a decade and a half he watched that kid get taller, smarter, stronger. He saw his anxiety and his traumas, he stayed the nights he couldn't sleep, he went every time Tomura called his name. Imagine Shirakumo begging them to save him, because that's his child. Tomura is to him what Eri is to Aizawa. That's his kid. That's his kid. And he's paying for something he didn't do. A fucking tragedy. And he's dying alone, in the hands of the man that broke him for almost two decades. To save the people that wanted him dead.
And finally, imagine Tomura asking them with his last breath to take care of each other. Imagine Tomura asking everyone who's listening to just stop that nonsense of waiting for somebody else to do the rescue. If only someone, anyone, would have taken him with them when he was a kid, none of that would be happening. Everyone can be a hero or a villian, that's not something quirks determine. Quirk or no quirk, it's not about being strong or fast or smart, it's about doing the right thing because you want to, because you want to make the world a better place.
He apologizes to the League and ask the people to understand and forgive. He doesn't want his friends— No, his family, to suffer like he has. They still has time. They can live now. It's okay. He smiles one last time, so much like Nana... Toshi feels how a part of him dies too as Tomura laughs. "Celebrate for me, would you?"
He has saved them.
And he banishes, no more than dust floating around during the dawn. No more white hair floating like a halo of stars or red eyes like morning suns. No more reassuring smiles or raspy voice. No more.
He's gone.

Toshinori Yagi (All Might)
Continued from my last ask!
First impressions: As soon as I saw him become Small Might I was interested. The cynical interaction from Izuku and admitting that he smiles to hide his own fear isn’t what you expect from his character based on first appearance. His design also just has a sort of sadness to it. The loose clothes and disheveled hair, how skinny he is. He’s supposed to be this super famous guy but it’s pretty clear by his appearance there’s no one to help him take care of himself.
Impressions now: I love him so much. He’s just my brand of sad. A really nice person who does their best despite how much they’re hurting. It’s probably because I’m an adult and not a kid that I like him so much, but I just relate to him, even if we’re not really alike. And if he ends up surviving the ending I will have really enjoyed his arc, because I don't think it’s one that’s super common--that you should be happy and live even if you can’t do everything you used to. That people care about you and you can find other things to make your life meaningful.
Favorite moment: It’s hard to pick because I like so many of his scenes. The flashback to when he went against Nighteye and they went their separate ways. Forcing himself to smile after Nana dies. His first Conversation with Izuku. Aizawa Telling him he should live. I can’t pick one.
Idea for a story: An awkward talk with Enji after the Dabi reveal. I don’t know exactly how it’d go but I’d like Toshi to admit to feeling guilty about it and saying how he didn’t realize that the shadow his light would case would effect the other Heroes so badly. Then Enji stops him and tells him it’s not his fault, that he made his own choices and even if he was driven by his need to surpass All Might, it was his own actions that hurt his family. Maybe All Might’s #1 status did hurt the unity of Heroes, but it’s not like he helped that any--thinking back to how Hawks has supported him, he knows now that he could have been a better #2 just like he should have been a better father.  At the end they’re still not friends but they understand each other better.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t blame him for Shigaraki at all. To me it just feels so inevitable given how AfO is characterized. He was going to find a way to get back at Nana and All Might one way or another. And yes, Toshi feels guilty about it, but he feels bad for not saving anyone. And it’s not as if Shigaraki can’t feel a bit bitter about it either, even once he’s saved. Even if you know there were valid reasons why certain events couldn't have been changed, it still hurts.
Favorite relationship: His father son thing with Izuku is really cute. I also love his interactions with Aizawa and how it’s changed since they were introduced. I wish we got to see a little more of his past with Nana because from the snippets we have it’s clear they were really close and he idolized her. I think if Stain comes back they could have a really funny dynamic.
Favorite headcanon: Sometimes he feels like Gandalf when he goes to Hobbiton. He’s so tall and before he lost his bulk he was very big as well. He has to get all his clothes custom made and a lot of his furniture is too. He has hit his head on doorways so many times, and he’s glad UA has such high ceilings to accommodate those that have Mutant Quirks. Whenever he is in a car his legs get smooshed up and crampy. He liked standing next to Endeavor during the ranking announcements because it made him feel less like a giant.

NANA TAKING CARE OF TOSHI AFTER HIS FIRST BIG FIGHT WITH AFO OH THE ANGST
OKAY, so I have several reactions to this. Firstly, that I didn’t know which AU you were referring to. Nana lives!AU? Noumu Torino!AU? By first big fight, I’m guessing you mean the one where Toshinori lost his stomach, so maybe not the latter…
Secondly--BIG angst. Not just the hurt/comfort aspect of recovery, but also the fact that Nana went through the same experience (but, like, with less maiming). It’s one thing not to be able to prevent your mentor/mother from suffering, it’s a whole other thing to be unable to stop your successor/son from suffering a worse injury delivered by the same villain.
I also have to ask myself: does Nana enable All Might? If she was so ready to throw her support behind a 14 y/o’s ambitions, then does thirty-some years of seeing what the effects of All Might change her feelings?
Moreover, if she takes control of the HPSC (because #girlboss), then did she steer the perception of pro-heroes? Are pro-heroes still viewed as infallible and invincible by Izuku’s day? Competitors for fame and money? If not, then has Toshinori still internalized the belief that he needs to simply push past the pain?
Sorahiko didn’t stop Toshinori from staggering down that hospital hallway; he didn’t say anything to support Nighteye’s argument either.
Would Nana? Should Nana?
When does Nana have to stop being Toshinori’s mother? Does she protect her son, or does she protect the strangers who need All Might’s presence to keep the nightmares at bay? (Do you see where some hellish parallels come into play? Are you a mother or a hero? Is this your son or your successor?)
Like I said. BIG angst.

Fic Prompts: Free Day Thursday
(Going back a bit in my Everybody Lives au to when Nana and Toshinori first reunited. Little bit angsty I guess. TW for implied death of alternate versions of major characters)
Nana woke to hear her grandson's voice outside her hospital room. There was a metallic clicking accompanying him. Was he on crutches? Using an IV stand? She'd become so bored, staring at the same four walls day to day, that she had begun trying to guess medical equipment by the sound it made rolling down the hall.
"Is my grandma awake? They said we could see her today."
Ah, he didn't sound nearly as tired as he had the last time they'd spoken. In fact, Nana thought he sounded like he was in better spirits than he had been all week!
Nana raised the bed up, eager to see Tenko. Then she heard a second voice, and her stomach dropped with dizzying speed to land somewhere around her bandaged toes.
"I'm here to chaperone young Shimura, never fear! There won't be any overexertion today!"
Toshinori.
Nana made a soft, choked sound that the nurse immediately picked up on. Super hearing wasn't always all it was cracked up to be, but it made his work at the hospital much more efficient. He opened the door quickly to check on his patient, worried that she might have been in some kind of pain or distress. In the doorway behind the nurse, Nana could see Tenko sitting in a cheap wheelchair, wearing an All Might brand jacket. Where had he gotten that? And more relevant, how were they going to convince him to take it off to be washed? As Nana considered this, she lifted her eyes to the man pushing the chair. That was...
Was...
Tears slipped down Nana's cheeks despite the smile that spread trembling over her face.
"Toshinori?" she asked, "My Toshi?"
The whip-thin man seemed to fold in on himself. His face crumpled, and it was clear that he was using every ounce of his self-control to keep from an emotional outburst of some kind. The nurse looked between the two, finished checking his patient's vitals, then very hastily stepped out to allow All Might his privacy.
"Call me if you need anything," he assured them as he shut the door.
For a moment, Toshinori stood frozen in place. This wasn't her -- but it was! Somehow, it was! -- she didn't truly know him, did she? Could he even say that he knew her?
Nana unceremoniously interrupted his thoughts when she reached out her good arm for him. "My boy," she gasped, wiping tears onto her sling, "My sunflower boy, you're here!"
Alternate timelines be blasted. This was Nana. She was here!
Toshinori fumbled to take her hand. It was warm. Flesh and blood. This was real. Nana Shimura was really, truly, alive. He made a small, helpless sound, and Nana pulled him down with a surprising strength into her arms. She buried her face in his hair and sniffled.
"I've missed you so much!" Nana pulled back and held Toshinori's face in one hand. "I thought I'd never see you again and- and here you are!"
She laughed through her tears. "One of my sons, back from the dead. I must be doing something right."
Sons.
Plural.
Sons.
Something broke in Toshinori. A wall he'd hidden behind for over half of his life. He clung to the woman and buried his face in her shoulder. And for perhaps the first time since the day he'd lost her, All Might cried.
"You...! I..." he choked and fought to clear his voice. "I- even though you had your own family, I always thought of you as my own mother," he confessed, finally able to say the words to her face.
"Hey! I am your mother," Nana whispered into his hair. "No- no matter what...what version of you...I'll always be your mom, Toshi."
It was a long time before any of their eyes were dry.
Nana spent much of the visit clinging to Toshinori as though she feared that he would melt away the moment she let go. And he, for his part, was much the same. There was much between their two timelines that didn't match up, things that wouldn't reconcile according to the laws of Flashpoint's Multi Theory. But they could compare and contrast memories later. Now was the time for catharsis.
Tenko sat on the end of Nana's bed, watching his grandmother fuss over All Might as if he were a boy again. This version of Uncle Yagi seemed flummoxed by the attention, as though he wasn't used to being doted on. Flummoxed, but Tenko could tell he was sort of shyly enjoying it. Sensing his gaze, Nana abruptly looked up at him and grinned.
"We did it, kiddo!" she laughed and choked past a lump in her throat. "We got him back!"
Tenko scooted closer to them. His eyes shone with both excitement and unshed tears. "We got more than that, Gram. The Midoriyas survived, too."
Nana turned quickly to stare up at Toshinori. "Inko's alive? And poor little Izuku?"
Toshinori was, on the one hand, curious about the hints of explanation he was hearing. But on the other hand, the conclusion they pointed to was disturbing. Once he knew the truth, Toshinori knew he would never be able to go back.
Just now, it didn't seem worth the nightmares to ask.
"Young Midoriya is 16 now," he said softly. "A wonderful, compassionate young man. He's...he's my successor."
"Ah!" Nana squeezed his hand. "I can't imagine him all grown up, I'm just picturing little chubby cheeks and curls still! But I can't imagine there being a better candidate from what I remember."
Having his predecessor blatantly and verbally affirm his choice of a successor gave Toshinori a confidence boost he hadn't realized he'd needed. Sir Nighteye's harsh words, and the protective anger they'd kindled, were muffled now. Drowned out by the opinion that mattered to him most: that of his predecessor.

Hmm, new Aus rot my brain so-
Also, I have 80 followers, so thank you all so much for the support!
Manga spoilers below btw!!!
When Inko first ran away with Izuku she had thought she would overcome the whole ordeal with the police to take her husband down.
She had expected he dealt with shady businesses, selling or buying drugs, and that his little brother knew too much and locked him away so that he wouldn't tell the police. Let her fantasy run a little longer and she would be just fine being a single mother working her way to the top to raise her sweet baby Izuku.
But reality is cold and unforgiving, and once her brother-in-law explained in detail what her husband is she nearly lost it.
It was so hard for Izuku to understand why they were hiding by that time, he was more worried about his friends and the schoolwork he left behind. He was six (despite his height), he shouldn't have to worry about anything that he was being forced to go through. Any conversation made by then was careful and filled with excuses, but over time Izuku had knew the truth.
He and his mother were passed down from one person to the next, of course, being as hesitant as they were until they had gotten the news of the death of the First. The Second had taken care of them, the devastation regained over First’s death, but he showed no tears but had a deepening scowl on his face.
The Third was next, he had saved them at the last minute, he was fast and quick to move them away from All for One’s gaze. He was just as devastated by Second’s death, a few tears had left, but he refused to show weakness in front of the people he swore to protect.
Hikage Shinomori was next to take care of the two, being the hermit he was, he had a strange way to communicate with the two. Not that Inko and Izuku minded, he was a sweet man, and living in the woods was the calm setting they needed in their stressed-filled lives. When One for All started to take effect on Shinomori, that was when both Inko and Izuku had settled to help him in any way they could before his death.
Even if he didn't die by her husband’s hands, Inko couldn't bear to forget the day she held the cold hand of the hermit she dubbed was her and her son’s hero.
Daigoro Banjo was next and from day one since they met, he did show himself to be quite the character. He was loud, outgoing, and a booming personality compared to Shinomori who was the complete opposite. Inko did always wonder how the two met, let alone become friends, but Banjo seemed to be the only one to make Shinomori laugh every once in a while.
He was a pro-hero, that was enough for Izuku to be interested and the two had such a close connection. Among the last users, Banjo was like a father figure for Izuku, albeit a wild one that sometimes followed the rules but was a good one nonetheless.
The sixth had been next in line, after the death of Banjo, his master, he was next to protect both Inko and Izuku.
He was just as surprised as Izuku to be told by Inko that she wanted to live on her own with Izuku. They’ve been on the run long enough, and she's tired of being the burden on every user before taking care of people they barely knew. She can live on her own with Izuku without the help of the One for All users, and even when she knew the dangers of that happening she made her decision clear.
So after a few weeks of planning, both Inko and Izuku said their goodbyes to the Sixth and made their way in the subway. After that, the Sixth did not know where the two had gone next, he swore to respect their privacy and their decisions and thus he told them to Nana when she was told of One for All.
Nana Shimura, the seventh holder of One for All, swore when she finds Inko and Izuku Midoriya to protect them with her life.
Guarantee, she had never met them face to face, but she swore when they needed her help she’ll help them any way she could. Torino, although worried about the two, had respected their wishes to be left alone. He couldn't imagine what it was like to have to be in their shoes, let alone be in fear of a monster being at their trail at all times.
When Nana had died, she knew she could trust her successor to keep them safe if he ever came across them in his life.
Yagi Toshinori, on the day he was told the truth about Inko and Izuku Midoriya, swore on that day that he will become their Symbol of Peace. For nearly forty years the blond presented himself as the Symbol of Peace for the people he swore to protect in hope that one day a kind woman and her child will come up to him for help.
When he had faced All for One, all the frustration he felt towards the devil himself were made clear and he didn't hesitate to spill blood for it. When he laid over the corpse of his nemesis, nearly a chunk of his body missing, he convinced himself that he finally ended All for One’s reign over the people he haunted for so long.
But even in the hospital, he pulled himself off to continue to be a hero despite Nighteye’s demands for him to retire. He called him a fool to continue but Yagi wouldn't hear it, there were still two people that needed his help and he wasn't going to let any injury make him stop from saving them.
Inko was still in the process of hiding with her son, she considered herself doing the right thing. After so many decades of hiding and running away she figured that living a quiet life in Musutafu would be enough for the time being. She honestly didn't know where else to go, she's had many days where she’s considered something else to stop the pain.
But one look at her son and she would think otherwise, she never did stop trying to get someone to help them. Even if Izuku did had his father’s quirk she told him that he couldn't bear the quirk that was the cause of their pain. To give both of their quirks to someone else would be selfish and cruel, no one needed to face their troubles as they have.
There had to be another way, there just has to.
That didn't mean they didn't try, they did, but Izuku couldn't take the quirk out of his mother. He explained it himself, it was like something else was attracted to that quirk, it was like superglue, you couldn't take it off no matter how hard you pulled.
All for One knew what he was doing, he made it clear that no one would be able to take away the quirk other than himself. It was smart but also cruel, even when Inko told her son that it wasn't his fault Izuku still felt like he could have done more with his quirk to help his mother.
If he didn't feel useless like all those decades before he sure did now.
When they had met Toshi, he was still in his skinny form, none of them had known each other’s true identities so they settled with the ones they kept to hide. But Yagi connected the dots and once he held enough evidence he confronted the two. Of course, he had apologized for getting into their private life, more or less become a stalker to seek out if his theory was true.
But he swore on the promise he made to them long ago that he would protect them if they ever so needed it. But he made one thing clear, he had killed All for One and he had the injury as well as many people to confirm his claim. But it was enough for Inko to believe him, Izuku as well and for the first time in their lives they cried tears of joy

All For One stood in the entryway.
He looked so tall, for all he was now slouched against the wall, hands lazily in his jacket pockets, and not standing and looming over a city half-rubble, looming over Nana before-
1- Conversate happens about a month and a half after Nana is killed, so, late summer in Toshi's senior year.
2- AfO is in his jacket because unlike Bones i'm not a coward
No, no he needed to warn Gran, get him out of here, he couldn't let another teacher die to this monster because he still wasn't strong enough yet to wield One For All against him.
Survivor's guilt all over the place here. because hitting with the dfo stick isn't the only way to hurt someone.
"Oh, don't worry, you don't have to get up to welcome me." All For One shrugged. "I know you weren't expecting me to drop by."
AfO's first spoken lines. i wanted to make him as punch-able as possible.
"I see Sorahiko did more for this house than Shimura. Didn't like that woman, but at least she had a style with clean lines."
This is actually a joke about how Sorahiko doesn't have good tastes- in decorating, as is obvious by his canon home, but also in... other areas.
All For One flipped through the notebook. "Physics?" He asked.
Toshinori felt frozen again as the villain continued. "Ah, and you do English at the same time."
I'm always on my atmospheric physicist Toshinori agenda!
They hadn't done any patrols since that fight. Gran had done something to get Nedzu to hire him, and then used the UA gyms for training him during all the time that would have been allotted to internships.
Since Gran was only a UA teacher for one year, i figure he took over and taught most of Toshi's senior year after Nana, the previous homeroom teacher, died. Which means Toshinori wasn't the only student who lost a teacher, but he was the only boy who lost his mother. Being closer to Nana kept him from getting super close to any classmates, and after Shimura-sensei died, well.... didn't even really have acquaintances by graduation. Also, i think of the 20 that started in first year, maybe 15 actually graduated. fewer went into the field
"No, he wasn't nearly as fun as the one before. Believe me."
This is both a reference to how AfO tortured En before killing him (in part because En knew where AfO's ex was but wouldn't tell but also because it was fun) as well as the one AfO flirted with before Tokooya- Sorahiko himself.
"Well it could hardly be natural. Both your," the villain paused here for a moment, just enough to notice, before he smoothly went on, "parents had white hair."
Both his fathers, AfO was going to say.
With that, All For One tapped his temple.
His eyes dimmed, no longer glowing red.
They were blue, now.
i wanted afo to have any color except red or green in canon lol. i was fond of yellow, purple, or silver. red is better than green, but really... well i think the red is the by-product of a quirk he stole. in this case, it lets freeze someone as long as he knows their name. Anyway, Toshi and AfO have blue eyes, though when he was a baby AfO wondered if they'd be green when he got older, like his uncle's.
Toshinori suddenly felt very, very sick.
Toshi actually tries to run after this, but AfO freezes him so they can have a full family conversation. Toshinori is frozen until he's been told how his fathers met and had him, how he was given up without AfO's permission, but how AfO will even let him be a hero if he comes home with him, now. Toshi then runs, and its a while before he calls Gran again.

The "Young Yagi Toshinori|All Might on ao3 covers everything from him being a toddler to just pre-organ-loss so just-got-ofa-teen Toshi is smol enough. (Altho elementary-school-age Toshi ruining some villain's day would be hilarious and awesome) The into mind plot sounds awesome and I'm looking forward to it. Blackwhip -Vigilante- Underground Hero Yagi (and Izu) sounds like a ride!
Sir, you have inspired me.  Have some elementary school Toshinori.
.
Shimura Nana was having A Day.
First, she’d woken up with her bones aching, a side effect of all the microfractures she’d given herself while getting used to One for All.  Second, she’d discovered she was out of painkillers.  Third, the convenience store she usually frequented for such matters had been collateral in a villain fight earlier that week, so she’d had to jog to the nearest grocery store (her license level didn’t cover quirk use for personal matters).  Fourth, the grocery store didn’t sell her usual brand, so now she was stuck deciding between the grocery store’s generics, of unknown quality, and a slightly more expensive brand she knew would mostly work but tended to make her drowsy.  The more expensive and effective brands were a little out of the price range of a person like her.
A person like her being a recently licensed aboveground sidekick who was trying to stay out of the direct spotlight due to the century-plus-year-old supervillain who was currently stalking her due to the origin of one of her two powers.
Yeah, okay.  So, there weren’t any other people like her.  It was a figure of speech.  Who could blame her?
The universe, apparently.
One wall of the grocery store caved in, the force of the blast whipping the scarf off from around Nana’s neck and all thoughts of painkillers from Nana’s mind.  One for All pulsed in her fists as she turned to face the threat.
(As always, she wondered, was this it?  Had he found her?  Was she about to die like Six?)
The threat was underwhelming.  The villain standing in the hole was skinny, stressed, and clearly new at the ‘escape’ part of the gig, despite the bulging bag of cash under his left arm.  Where had he come from, anyway?  The nearest bank was...  Ugh.  Nana couldn’t be bothered to remember the exact distance.  It didn’t matter, anyway.
What mattered was taking the guy down before he got the bright idea to start doing whatever he did to the wall to people.  For example, the shoppers who were still standing right next to him.
Was the demolished wall not enough of a hint for these people?
Whatever, they were civilians.  Even heroes and policemen froze sometimes.
It would be best to avoid a flashy (and damaging) fight in this scenario, especially given that Nana wasn’t wearing her costume, but a random sweater and some old jeans.  She began to maneuver around to the villain’s flank, positioning herself in such a way that there were no civilians behind her.  She prepared to strike.
And then, because the universe really had it out for her today, a second villain walked through the hole, this one carrying a crying girl in an elementary school uniform.  He also was wearing a truly atrocious pair of shorts.  They were some unholy combination between Hawaiian print, stripes, and polka-dots.  And the were short.  And tight.
The kidnapping only barely beat out those shorts as the worst crime the man was currently committing.
“No one get any ideas, or I’ll kill this brat!” yelled the villain.  Their quirk looked like it turned their hands into spikes.  Simple, not terribly threatening, but more than enough to kill the kid.
Oh, and now there was another kid, a blonde, peeking around the edge of the hole, glaring at the spike villain.
Okay, from now on, Nana was going to assume that no one had any self preservation, ever.
“I don’t know about this, bro,” said the other villain, shaking.
“Shut up!  Hey, you!” he shouted at a cashier.  “Where’s Kimiko?”
“She, uh, break room,” said the shaking teen.
The villain snorted.  “Come on, she’s got that teleport quirk.”  He kicked the back of the other villain’s leg.  He stumbled forward.
A number of things happened in quick succession.
First, the blonde kid ran at the spike villain, hitting the backs of his legs.
Second, Nana darted forward, intent on taking out the villains before they could kill the suicidal blonde.
Third, there was a lot of blood.
When Nana said a lot, she meant a lot.  As in, a worryingly large amount.  As in, anyone who lost that much blood needed a trip to the hospital pronto, and that was if they were an adult.
The wall-blasting villain had evidently realized this, was screaming, and, thankfully, not paying enough attention to anything else to notice Nana coming up alongside him and knocking him across the jaw.
She didn’t have her capture gear with her.  She’d have to hope he’d stay out.
Then the spike villain just.  Collapsed.
Which is when she realized he was the one bleeding, rather than either of the kids.  In fact, the blonde kid, who was utterly covered in blood, was helping to extract the girl from the villain’s rapidly weakening grasp.  Which meant that Nana should probably do something.
Yeah, something.
First, make sure the villain wasn’t going to get back up and attack everyone.  Oh, jeez.  That was a giant chunk out of the guy’s leg, right underneath those awful, awful shorts.
Yeah, he wasn’t going to be moving for a good second.  She turned to the kids.
“Are either of you two hurt?” she asked.
“No, ma’am!” said the boy, beaming.  Underneath the blood, his teeth gleamed whiter than a toothpaste spokesman’s.  The girl shook her head.
“Cool, cool,” said Nana, giving them a grin.  “Did you bite him?” she pointed at the villain, winced, and started to take off her sweater.  The guy needed a tourniquet.
“Yes!” said the boy.  “He’s-- Is he okay?”  The smile dropped a little, and he started wringing his hands.
Oh, gosh, he was precious.
“Yeah,” said Nana, brightly, trying to staunch the flow of blood.  She could hear sirens in the distance.  “He’s fine!  People just get a bit dizzy when they, uh, lose this much blood.  Why don’t you two go over there, and make sure the police have been called?  And an ambulance?”
“Yes, Ms. Hero!” said the boy, saluting again.  He practically dragged the girl off, over to the cash registers.
Cute.
The villain did make it into the ambulance.  So.  Anyway.  Time to make sure the trauma wasn’t catching up to the sunshine boy.  How old was he, anyway?  Five?  Ten?  Had to be younger than eleven with that uniform, right?
(Simply speaking, Nana was not good at estimating ages.)
She slunk over to listen as the police officer questioned him.
“I just want to make sure you know, Yagi-kun,” said the police officer, who was gently dabbing the child’s blood-covered face with a cloth, “you aren’t in trouble, but we need to know if you used your quirk on that man?”
That was something Nana was curious about, too.  After all, the kid had just about bit through the guy’s femoral artery.  That took talent.  Or a really weird brand of luck.
“Oh, no, sir!  I don’t have a quirk!”
The officer stared.  “You ran at a villain holding a hostage without a quirk?”
“Emi was crying!  I had to help!”
Okay.  Nana liked this tiny feral child.
The officer sighed.  “Can you tell me your parents’ names?  And phone numbers?”
“I don’t have parents, sir!  I can give you the number of my foster home, though.”  The last sentence was said with significantly less energy than all the ones before, and the boy looked down at the ground, kicking at it lightly.
Heck.  If Nana didn’t have All for One after her, she’d adopt right then and there.
But she did.
And her bones still hurt.
Also, she was covered in blood.
Well, quirkless or not, she had no doubt that kid would go far.  Maybe she’d see him again, someday.

Not fic: Cursed Twilight addition
So I’m about to have my BNHA rights revoked but I just finished Midnight Sun (at the time when I started writing this) and started thinking about the characters and that Rosalie and Bakugo are weirdly similar so now here I am outlining a Twilight Au that no one asked for (except me but I’m garbage) that I will never write because I can’t focus long enough to write an actual story (fun fact this outline is taking months to complete). To be honest though this is more of a background on all the characters as opposed to an outline of the Twilight story (oops) which may or may not come later. Author’s notes are in parenthesis if you haven’t figured that out.
Basically I’m replacing Twilight characters with BNHA characters, not everyone will have the same back story, it’ll be blended(future me: um so that was a lie). Everyone’s quirks are still mostly the same but as their vampire gift with some variation to fit the word. It still takes place in the Pacific north-west because I’m not super sure if there’s a place as cloudy as there in Japan besides the mountains like Mt.Fuji (but that’s more misty I think) but there’s too many people around places like that I feel. But then again I’m not actually writing this whole fic so you’re welcome to imagine them still in Japan. If I did write this as a fic I would actually do proper research to decide where to put them but meh, this is a not-fic. As it is I’m calling the town it would take place in Forks/Crossroads cause that would be a cool alternative name. The backgrounds take place all over the word but I never actually say where. My bad.
Also if you do read this I love you very much and I am so sorry, this is ramble-y and has way too many run-on sentences and is written as if I were speaking to you as opposed to an actual written story. It’s also taken so long to complete things I wasn’t sure about in the beginning become solidified later but it’s also written out of order so probably reads really bad. Again my apologies.
So the characters are as follows:
The Olympic Coven/Cullens - The Might Coven/Aizawa-Yagis
Carlisle Cullen- Toshinori Yagi
So obviously I made Toshi Carlisle because suave blond everyone loves is both of their MO. Toshi is probably around 500 years old and like Carlisle was turned while hunting vampires. I still want him to have two forms but I’m not entirely sure how to do that within the confines of the Twilight universe. Maybe he was injured in a battle where he literally lost parts of himself and can’t fully heal so he’s become weak but still can’t die? He’s a doctor but might be semi-retired because of his injury, the cover story is an undisclosed chronic illness. He’s also a part time stay at home dad. He definitely used his vampirism to help and protect humans in the past.
Probably had a coven when he was younger with Nana and Torino but Nana was killed and Torino sent Toshi away for his own safety. He may or may not have started out as vegetarian, I can see Nana as veg or only eats bad people, Torino is an eats bad guys type but will eat anyone when pressed. Toshi either started out as a vegetarian before meeting Nana or if she found him immediately and took him in he would go animal based pretty quickly, She always respected his lifestyle. Grand Torino respects it to an extent but now that Toshi is hurt wants him to drink from humans because he thinks it’ll help Toshinori heal or at least be better for his body. He was in his 40s when turned.
Esme Cullen- Shouta Aizawa
It should surprise literally no one that I’m making this Erasermight because I am soft for my boys and anything is an excuse to ship them. Shouta is honestly the person who has taken the longest to work out along with Shinsou. Like so, so, long. These two are also related, they’re cousins or uncle/nephew or something. They’re also the most different from their counterparts, probably because it’s taken so long for me to work their stories out I’ve just completely changed them from original Twilight.
So the time period is really vague with him, it’s either the late 1800s or WWI. Hitoshi was an orphan around the age of 12 and Shouta his guardian is 30-31. Either way there was a war (and I looked at the wars in the second half of the 1800s, it’s just so many wars. What is wrong with this world?) and it could have easily been the civil war (and if so they were Unionist, obviously.) But wherever he and Hitoshi lived there was a war happening and he was probably not in the army at the time, just protecting his home and neighbors. At the same time Toshinori and Izuku were in the area trying to help civilians because wars suck and they’re basically un-killable so they can help and with the chaos of everything if someone started to suspect something of them they could fake their deaths and leave. And they probably did. But while traveling through they stop in a town/village and meet Shouta and Hitoshi.
Shouta is his gruff no nonsense self and Hitoshi is a little in awe of Yagi because this is still pre-injury so he’s this huge imposing man who’s gentle and knowledgeable about medicine. Eventually even Shouta comes around to liking Yagi, who has the nickname All Might because of his strength, even though he thinks his over the top enthusiasm in front of others is exhausting. In private Toshi ends up letting his guard and persona down with Aizawa because he realizes he doesn’t have to keep it up, he doesn’t need to make Aizawa like and trust him the way he does with the others, it’s just natural the way they click. Toshi probably fell in love first, vampires fall in love fast and long and all encompassing in a way that if they were human would be rather unhealthy (and probably is anyway because this is fiction but I don’t really care because this is fiction and I relate to unhealthy love way too much). Shouta was more reserved because he is a cautious man by nature and probably loves in a similar but more healthy way to vampires, long and devoted, but he must be careful to whom he gives his heart. I still don’t think he meant to fall for Toshinori, loving a man in the time that they lived was dangerous and inadvisable if one could avoid it. But Toshinori Yagi is the kind of man one cannot help but loving.
They didn’t tell each other how they felt though. A few months after Izuku and Toshinori’s arrival there was an attack on the town, Hitoshi they found safe but Toshinori caught wind of Shouta’s scent and followed, finding him mortally wounded. Desperate to keep him Toshi turned him and split off from Izuku and Hitoshi while Shouta adjusted to vampire life. They quickly became lovers, though Shouta had a brief stint as a human blood drinker as revenge for the destruction of his village. But it started to test their relationship and in the end Toshi and his own morals were more important to him than human blood. The four of them reunite a year later and they try to keep their relationship a secret but both of the boys figure it out pretty quickly. Izuku accepts it immediately because his dad is finally with someone and is happy while it takes Hitoshi a bit of time because period typical homophobia and it’s going to take a while for Yagi to earn his trust back after turning Aizawa in front of him.
Aizawa has an erasure power same as in canon. Since he doesn’t need to blink he’s a bit op but opponents who are faster than his eyes can track and multiple opponents are his weaknesses. He’s a history teacher at Forks/Crossroads high but purposefully does not have his own kids as students. He’s a mystery to most of his colleagues who probably haven’t even figured out he’s got five kids in the school.
Rosalie Hale- Katsuki Bakugo
Bakugo has a pretty similar start to Rosalie but because what happened to her is so awful and  I have problems doing that even to fictional characters that part is different. He’s still a rich kid from the early 20th century, probably turned in the 1920s, but he and his explosive temperament pissed off the wrong people who jumped him in an alley and beat him almost to death, like actually thought he was dead so they left him there (I know this isn’t that much better than what happened to Rose but man she had a horrific end to her human life). He was around 17-18 when he was turned.
While human he had met Dr. Yagi, who was probably treating one of his parents for a chronic ailment, along with his son Izuku and his ‘companion’ Aizawa and Aizawa’s ward Hitoshi. All of the others gave him the creeps but Izuku was a relatively normal boy, a bit younger than himself and accompanied his father when visiting the Bakugos. Their relationship is pretty much the same as canon where Izuku likes Bakugo a lot and Bakugo is nothing but awful to him. They end up with a sort of ‘I hate you but you’re my best friend’ relationship except neither actually hates the other. When Yagi finds Bakugo half dead in an alley he turns him because he was weirdly fond of the angry young man and more so because he thought that the relationship between the two boys was growing into something more, he and Izuku hadn’t talked about it, as he was waiting for his son to come to him, and he didn’t have time to ask. He realizes later that no, Katsuki and Izuku are not star crossed lovers like he and Shouta but he can’t say he regrets turning Bakugo other than Bakugo’s own hatred of being a vampire. He loves his angry son okay.
Bakugo had a life goal which was probably taking over the family business though based off canon that would be fashion and I can’t see him interested in that. Whatever it was he was pursuing it with the same single mindedness that he possesses for heroism and since he can no longer achieve his goals as a vampire he resents it along with the fact that the decision to become a vampire or die a human was taken away from him. He does have a good relationship with Toshinori and Shouta even though he still acts like a brat. His cover story is that he’s Toshinori’s cousin’s son and is an orphan who they took in. He kept his family’s name.
Like a number of vampires Bakugo has a talent or gift. His is his incredibly powerful and dangerous explosion ability. He can cause explosions from his palms. So far the League has not discovered him but everyone worries that one day they will and the Might Coven will be hunted and slaughtered for Bakugo’s power.
Emmett Cullen- Eijirou Kirishima
Sometime around the 1930s  Bakugo was hunting and found a bleeding almost dead Kirishima. It was either an animal attack like canon or an accident where he fell off a cliff (that feels like something he would do). I don’t think he decided to turn Kirishima, he just smelled blood and lost control. He’s still ashamed about how he reacted to this day as he’s typically better than that around humans. Luckily the others were hunting with him and were able to pull Bakugo off. He’s never held what Bakugo did against him and his enthusiasm and friendship actually endeared him to Katsuki despite his guilt. Eijirou was turned at 19 and has never had issues with being a vampire, it sucks that he had to leave his human family behind but he loves his vampire one just as much and he got the love of his life out of it. It took awhile but Katsuki and Eijirou eventually admit their feelings and they start dating. They’ve been married a few times now because Bakugo is extra and Eijirou loves confessing his love.
With Kirishima’s gift it doesn’t work the same as in cannon where you can tell it’s activated. In fact they still might not know Kiri has a gift or if they do it’s only a suspicion. He’s just harder than the other marble like vampires. Where the others have almost certainly had mild injuries (mostly from Bakugo’s explosions) like cracks that heal immediately, Eijirou has never been injured as a vampire. At all. He’s also immensely strong, because he was as a human, and that has been enhanced but he’s nowhere near as strong as Toshi was pre-injury. His cover story is he’s a foster kid they took in and he keeps the last name Kirishima.
Alice Cullen- Denki Kaminari
Like Alice Denki spent the end of his human life in an insane asylum (I refer to it as such because these were not hospitals and more like institutions of torture). I honestly can’t figure out if mental health care was so bad in the early/mid 20th century that a 15-16 year old boy with ADHD being sent to one is unrealistic or not. I’m pretty sure it was similar to Alice where he saw something he shouldn’t and was put in it to silence him.( I should probably figure out what that was sometime) Either way that’s where he ended up and of course he had to deal with electroshock ‘therapy’ which both severely messed with his memory and sorta brought out a natural resistance and even control over electricity, so he had to receive stronger and stronger sessions. This manifested in Denki’s electric power when he was turned into a vampire.
While hunting in the woods surrounding the institution, Hitoshi spotted Denki in the window and was instantly taken by the boy with eyes as golden as his inhuman family’s. He would make trips by the asylum just to get a glimpse and eventually took a night job there to meet him against his family’s advice. When they met Denki recognized him despite how careful, and honestly far away, Hitsohi had been and instead of being creeped out he was happy just to make a new friend. They would talk as long as they could and Hitoshi would bring Denki little bits of the outside world like flowers or decent snacks. And he would take care of Kaminari when his ‘therapies’ would leave him incapacitated and the nursing staff would neglect him.
Even after his family moved away to a location where the weather suited them better Hitoshi stayed working at the asylum not willing to leave Denki to his fate there (And to note this is around the time the others realized how serious Hitoshi’s feelings are and start planning how to help Kaminari or bring him into the family. Before this they were starting to suspect but kinda thought he was being weird about a guy he saw in a window. To be fair though he was being weird about a guy he saw in a window.) One night after an ice bath ‘treatment’ Denki developed a fever and over the course of a few days had full blown pneumonia. In his delirium he confessed his feelings to Shinsou who reciprocated and decided he would steal Denki away when he knew the trip back to his family wouldn’t kill the sick boy. Of course being a poorly run and over populated institution his condition was overlooked and ignored especially since a ‘specialist’ was coming to perform procedures on several patients, aka some guy with no degree was going to lobotomize as many people as he could fit into one day. Shinsou didn't find out until he came in that night and found out Kaminari was already in the procedure room. He flipped out and killed most of the staff there and took a severely injured Denki home to Toshinori in the hopes of saving him.
The change seemed to take longer than it had for the others but does end up working, though when he finally comes to Denki is much more quiet and subdued and remembers almost nothing about his past. All he knows is his name, Hitoshi’s name, and that he loves him. He also has weird headaches periodically for decades later and slowly becomes more like himself before the lobotomy. He never fully recovers his memories, a bit here and a piece there, all moments shared with Hitoshi. He decides he doesn’t need the rest, everything he needs is here and in his future with his family.
His cover story is typically as a foster kid so he keeps his last name Kaminari. Sometimes he decides to change things up and goes as a Yagi or even Bakugo’s brother when Katsuki is feeling generous.
Jasper Hale- Hitoshi Shinsou
Hitoshi’s early years were spent in his small town or village (I think the difference is size but I’m american and I don’t think we have villages no matter how small a place is so...) Everything was uneventful up until the war, I don’t know which war, civil war in US or WWI in Europe, but around the age of 12 his village was destroyed, his guardian was turned into a vampire and he had to go live with Izuku while Aizawa learned to manage his bloodlust. During that time he and Izuku grew really close and even now they have the most brotherly relationship out of all the siblings.
So after a year the four reunite with a vampire Shouta and an overly protective Izuku and a very weary Hitoshi. Everything goes on as it did for Toshinori and Izuku before they split but now with their two new additions. Yagi gives Hitoshi the best education he can without sending him to boarding school although they had discussed it. They were in a precarious position with a human boy knowing their vampire secret and they couldn’t run the risk of news getting back to the League, the governing body of vampires run by a mysterious head known only as All for One.
Years pass but unfortunately news of the Might Coven’s human pet gets back to the League and due to past history involving Nana and Toshi, AfO comes himself to deal with the situation and brings his two most powerful underlings, his adopted son and second in command Tomura Shigaraki and . A fight between Yagi and All for One happens and AfO rips out a piece of Toshi’s side and Toshi ends up crushing AfO’s head, killing him (maybe but probably not). Tomura, who had been fighting against Shouta and Toga who battled Izuku, realize they can’t win.
Now the vampire known as All Might is pretty popular amongst his kind but the Might Coven was at the time nowhere near strong enough or influential enough to fill the void that would be left by the dissolution of the League, which would happen if they killed all three of the vampires there. So they took a gamble and spared Shigaraki and Toga thinking their loyalty to AfO was limited, since most vampires don’t form bonds the way ‘vegetarians’ seem to, and that they would be happy with their promotion. They also agreed at Hitoshi’s insistence that he would be turned so they would no longer have a human knowing the secret about vampires. So Yagi turns Hitoshi and they let Toga and Shigaraki go and continue about their lives as much as they can with Toshinori’s injury.
Just like the rest of his family, Shinsou's quirk is the same as canon. If someone answers his question he can control their minds. It’s probably a little stronger than in canon too, at least against humans. Vampires have better resistance. His cover story is the most truthful, he’s Shouta’s orphan relative. He sometimes takes on Aizawa’s last name though in this school he decided to use his original.
Edward Cullen- Izuku Midoriya
The more I plot this out the more I’m taking Twilight, stripping it down to the bare outline, and making it into something totally different. Like the only similarities are Izuku and Shoto’s relationship follows Bella and Edwards, somewhat. Izuku is the tanned skinned, freckled, green eyed boy in a family of pale golden eyed outsiders. He seems completely human even to other vampires, til you get him in the sunlight where he literally shines.
I’m not sure when Izuku was born, maybe the 1700s, but he was still the first of the Might Coven besides Toshinori. Sometime after Nana’s death Toshi finds an ailing pregnant woman named Inko Midoriya who’s bizarre husband still hasn’t come home from his business trip to a foreign country. She’s convinced she is going to die before he returns and her pregnancy is so hard and so seemingly fast but her baby feels strong enough to survive so she begs Toshinori to please take care of her son till his father returns. Inko dies before she can give birth to her baby so Toshinori takes the baby out himself as a last ditch effort but there’s something not right, not with the baby or the amniotic sac that’s almost as hard as Toshinori himself. And when the sun shines through the window Toshinori’s arm glimmers and so does the new born baby. Dread at the thought that he’s holding an immortal child wells in him but he’s never heard of an immortal child being born and he’s especially never heard of a vampire with a heart beat. So against his better judgement he takes the child and runs, he can’t wait for Inko’s husband, and he can’t risk someone seeing the child and reporting back to the League. So he and Izuku, a name Inko had picked out before her death, stay on the run for years as the boy grew until he was at an appropriate age to be around at least vampire kind. Conveniently the half vampire boy doesn’t need blood to survive and seems to have very little if any bloodlust at all. Or so it seemed.
Now some differences I’m making will be Izuku’s aging. I know Rennesme ages fast and stops when she looks 21-25 but I’m thinking Izuku either ages very slowly or stopped when he looks closer to 15-18? Probably the first one. Also I think male half-vamps have red/gold eyes but Izuku has green because I said so.
His cover story is that he's Toshinori’s son from a previous relationship. They tried to call him a foster child in the past but they’re too close and Izuku uses Toshinori’s given name and dad interchangeably. He likes to use his mom’s last name as a way to honor her. Not every school but it is a pretty common thing for him to do and he’s using it in Forks/Crossroads this year. He doesn’t seem to have a gift but he’s a half vampire, his presence is a gift.
Humans
Bella Swan- Shoto Todoroki
Time for ‘technically main character number two but I preferred everyone else in Twilight over Edward and Bella so he and Izuku get put down lower on the list’. So Todoroki and Bella’s similarities are: new kid comes to live with other parent after the parent they lived with got married. I really don’t think there’s a lot else similar? But Bella doesn’t have that much back story to begin with.
So Shoto’s parents grew up in Forks/Crossroads but moved somewhere sunnier before he was born. He grew up in a city, maybe Phoenix (almost certainly Phoenix for the name alone). His parents had an unhappy marriage but I honestly don’t think it was full on abuse, I feel like Enji still neglected them but never physically or verbally hurt anyone. And since Shoto moves back in with Rei I don’t think she gave him his scar either, I think it was an accident where young Shoto pulled maybe a hot kettle onto himself? It probably was the catalyst for his parents divorce but ultimately that was happening either way. Both parents blamed the other for his accident but I think the courts realized it was just that, an accident, maybe some negligence (I don’t really know how custody courts work and what happens when a kid gets hurt and this isn’t a real fic so I’m not researching) but either way Enji gets Shoto (maybe all the kids but Rei gets visitation, comes down for the summer like Charlie? Kids go up there for vacation and holiday? Or split the kids 50/50? No idea this is still more backstory than Bella got) Enji is still a workaholic and Toya ends up running away/leaving probably shortly after the divorce anyway and Fuyumi and Natsuo eventually leave for college and are still closer to Rei even if they lived with their dad.
So when Enji gets remarried Shoto asks to move in with his mom since she’s all alone and Enji wouldn’t be and ‘wouldn’t it be nice to just be two newly weds with the house to themselves’. He makes a very convincing case and Enji is trying to let his youngest make his own choices so he agrees. Shoto moves north and it isn’t the worst, he likes both the heat and the cold unlike his parents, Rei hates the heat and Enji hates the cold. School is weird because people actually want to be his friend; there’s a group of stoic, pale, intimidating students he’s 90% sure are vampires; and there’s a  beautiful boy who hangs out with them who looks partially horrified and disgusted by him, or like he wants to eat him alive, literally.
Renee Dwyer- Enji Todoroki (Technically)
So I ended up making Enji considerably less awful.
After the divorce Enji figures out his sexuality and eventually starts dating a much younger model who goes by Hawks after he saves him from a burning building (Enji is a firefighter). Shoto offers to move in with Rei after Hawks and Enji get married, he has nothing against Hawks and they get along as well as can be expected but they are newly weds and Enji might be going into semi retirement to travel with Hawks for his career. And the thought of being around his dad so much, who can get a little overbearing when not working, is just not something Shoto wants to deal with. Though it is weird his dad is married to someone so much younger, Shoto knows several other people in his class in Phoenix whose dads did similar and they cheated on their wives and didn’t even have a sexuality crisis in their forties so he’s letting his dad slide on this. Shoto definitely has a better relationship with Enji in this than canon Shoto but they don’t have Enji’s shity eugenics baggage here either. Overall Enji in this is just a neglectful workaholic who’s learning to work on himself with the guidance of the love of his life and is letting Shoto make his own decisions like living with his mom and this is all growth.
Charlie Swan- Rei Todoroki (Technically)
So Rei after the divorce moves back home because she hates Phoenix and hot weather. Maybe she gets custody in the summer or has Fuyumi and Natsuo since Toya took off and they split the kids? (I still haven’t decided how the custody went with those two but they don’t live in Forks/Crossroads or Phoenix so it doesn’t matter.)
After returning home she either started working at or opened up a yarn shop, I see her enjoying needle craft and she’s definitely not a sheriff type. She’s just a quiet, keeps to herself woman with a few close friends; children mostly grown and just happy to spend more time with her youngest.
Phil Dwyer- Keigo Takami
He’s a model who gets saved by Enji when his apartment burns down. He offers to take Enji to dinner and keeps offering to reward him until at Moe’s insistence Enji agrees. They hit it off and the rest is history.
Things I would have said in the tags but there’s a limit so I put the actual important stuff there and ramblings here:
It took me three weeks to finish this (midnight sun) audiobook. I literally drive for a living and couldn’t finish it in less than the entirety of my library rental time. Jake Able deserves more money.
I have read twilight three times now and it never gets easier. Yes I do have terrible taste.
I hope someone reads this. It took like three months to finish this post. I still have so much in my head. I haven’t even started talking about the League. Please ask questions, I want to actually write this but my brain won’t let me write full fics so this is what we get.

Hero society analysis (for the future)
Hi, after reading the chapter 300 of my hero academia manga I thought it was interesting to make a revision of what we know about how the hero society was built and its apparent downfall. So we are going to review 1) Vigilantes era, 2) quirk’s regulation and pro heroes, 3) the construction of the symbol of peace, 4) the destruction of the symbol of peace and 5) the future of hero society + me rambling about said future.
This is of course my reading of the events transpiring so far in the manga. I will try to keep spoilers at minimum, but there would be a few if you don’t read the manga.
1) Vigilantes era
With the manifestation of quirks, criminals with these newfound superpowers made use of it for evil-doing. Ordinary civilians with their own powers gathered to stop those criminals and bring order to society, that is how Vigilantes were born. All for one became a symbol of society unity in this period of time, making use of his own quirk he removed the quirk from those who didn’t want it and gave it to those who wanted to have superpowers. Obviously this wasn’t a selfless act on his part, he was gathering loyal followers for his goal and ruled Japan from the shadows.
At some point, one for all opposed to what all for one was doing, he saw through those “selfless action”, fought and passed his quirk to the second torchbearer.
The police force moved to prioritize leadership and to maintain the status quo, and decided to no use quirks as weapons.
2) Quirk’s regulation and pro heroes
The pro hero system started on Rhode Island in America under the "Rhode Island New State Statute". 189 Vigilantes were affected by this statute, with only 7 being accepted as official Heroes. Quirk usage has been restricted by the law, that is why groups as the meta liberation army were formed, they believed that the free use of their superhuman abilities should be a basic human right and not only a privilege for heroes.
Depending on their performance, pro heroes have the potential to receive government pay, along with fame and glory. This govt. pay, fame and glory is important, a lot of heroes aren’t into the heroic world because they think it is the best for the world, but mostly because it pays good.
3) The construction of the symbol of peace
At some point, quirkless Toshinori Yagi met the 7th OFA torchbearer: Nana Shimura, when the world was still in chaos with criminals rampaging through the streets and citizens had no one to believe.
Tumblr media
Toshi wanted to create a new age of harmony, where this chaotic age of crime was left behind and everyone can have a future to laugh and live together. Toshinori wanted to be that pillar, this symbol of peace for everyone, for the civilians, for other heroes and even for the criminals, for them to see what is waiting if they make a wrong move.
Tumblr media
Nana chose Toshinori as his successor, making him the 8th torchbearer of one for all. His body was already strong so he could use this power at it 100% and his training was to learn how to fight properly. Nana died in his fight against afo to make sure that Toshinori and Gran torino escaped safely. This caused a big impact on Toshinori, who thought about Nana as his own mother. Torino recommended him to travel to the united states and continue with his training there, while at the same time being safe of the threat that afo was for him as the eight torchbearer.
From here on onwards I don't think it is necessary to make a list of the heroic things Yagi did to be recognized as the symbol of peace, but we need to talk about what he almost unconsciously constructed as the symbol of peace in the civilians and his fellow heroes eyes. A hero that is always with a smile on his face, charismatic, devoted to the point that he didn’t have any personal time, selfless, indestructible, unwavering, always the winner no matter who he fought, no matter what happened all might’s would always be there to protect everyone. He took all the burden of Japan's safety on his shoulders, reducing the criminal activity to around the 5%.
(I don’t want to sound like Izuku Midoriya is ghost-writing this post, but damn if i don’t tear up thinking about Toshinori carrying that weight on his shoulders alone for so many years)
And this is the central problem of what is going on now in the bnhaverse, the archetype of the symbol of peace that all might create, those are such big shoes to fill and at this point no one can. He became an unreachable pillar, even other heroes acknowledge the pressure of being the #1 that they let all might carry alone, this pressure that he didn’t waver to carry even when he was badly injured.
Tumblr media
Toshi in his effort to make a better world unconsciously make everyone dependable of him or what he constructed as the symbol of peace. His fight against AFO marks the beginning of the end of the hero society as we know, the slow collapse of the unreacheable pillar of the symbol of peace.
4) The destruction of the symbol of peace
This “destruction” of the symbol of peace isn’t something new, small blow after small blow villains has been working towards this one goal. As readers we could be expectators of this fall, villain after villain, of small actions becoming bolder. Small fries, solo workers and leagues, villains have been gathering, seeing the cracks on the pillar of Japan's best hero and trying their shot.
But after AFO imprisonment and all might’s career end, they have become even bolder. The hero society is weaker than ever, because All might was the biggest threat to the villains
The symbol of peace that all might carefully constructed can’t be imitated. Endeavor and the rest of the heroes couldn’t even start to fill the spot of All might legacy.
I’m not saying that heroes aren’t doing their best to prevent the fall of the status quo of society till this moment, i’m saying that civilians and even the press don’t let the heroes do their work. There is so much fear in the population and the villains know this, every villainous act helps them and makes the civilians lose their faith in the heroes.
We see this shortly after Endeavor takes the spot of the #1 and fight against that high gamma nomu:
a)The collective trauma of what happened to all might. The fight was recorded by the press, everyone saw the horrible face of the world's biggest criminal and the hero everyone loved ending his career to ensure their safety. Even when this was about Endeavor risking his life to save everyone, as the #1 should, they only can think about All might.
Tumblr media
b) This second panel is the same as the previous one, we can see again the lost faith in the symbol of peace. Endeavor is risking his life to protect the city, probably in a way different from what all might approach to fighting villains was, but this also says a lot about this fourth point: there isn’t a sense of safety in the population. They saw their symbol of peace fall, why would be this former #2 any different?, this man who never could take the #1 spot from all might at his best.
Tumblr media
And the last blow to the title of the symbol of peace took was Dabi exposing everything Endeavor did to his family in his desire to be the #1. Dude, the timing of all this was beautifully executed, it exposed and proved the reasons of the failing hero system that the league of villains preach about. This speech made everyone think about the dichotomy of “heroes and villains”, after this there isn’t just black and white, good and bad, there are grey areas mingling, there are heroes that in their personal life act as villains and the population is starting to see the flaws in the system.
Tumblr media
5)The future of hero society (spoilers of chapter 300)
This fight against the league and MLA marks the end of hero society as we know it, first because it make clear to civilians that heroes aren’t invincible and that their safety isn’t guaranteed anymore and second it make other heroes that were safe behind the shadow of the symbol of peace, know that dark times are approaching and they jobs are riskier than ever.
We have to remember that being a hero is a job option for anyone with a quirk useful enough to combat, not everyone is doing this job because they have a hero heart. In this moment, with shit hitting the fan in the hero society, the good pay, fame and glory isn’t worth to being killed. Hence a lot of pro heros quitting the job, and also a lot of heroes died in the fight against the league; that’s causing a big impact in the structure of japan’s hero society.
The police can’t fight against quirks as well as heroes can (they don’t use quirks as weapons) and they are already busy trying to arrest the people who escaped from the different prisons, civilians are buying (hero) support items to protect themselves because a lot of hero agencies have closed.
Tumblr media
Endeavor, who is supposed to be the #1 hero, is broken to the core after having a physical proof in the form of dabi of what his ambition caused. We have seen other characters showing a kind of support to Endeavor, seeing a change in him, but this isn’t going to be enough to gain the civilians approval.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On another topic, I think Vigilantes are going to appear again, of course they never disappeared, but in this moment the public image of them wouldn’t be that bad in civilians eyes. Of course the hero association is going to be against it.
The UA kids have gone through lots of things in their short time being students and having their provisional hero license, but we have also seen their hearts, every one of them being ready to put their life on the line if that is what it takes to save lives. This last fight was the hardest they had to face, they suffered the loss of a dear teacher (Kayama), watched their friends hurting/destroying their bodies fighting and having a first line seat to see the collapse of this hero society that they were so eager to partake in.
This can a) boost them to train harder to be a good hero or b) make them retire early and discard their dream. I personally think that of what we have seen of them, the first is the most logical option, but also they are kids and their parents make the legal decisions for them and after seeing how heroes are handling things, they couldn’t entrust their kids to UA anymore.
Talking about kids, the craziest one of the bunch, Izuku, said something in chapters prior that amazed me and made me love him even more. He said that Shigaraki's face looked like he needed to be saved. We don’t know if afo used someone else before in the way he is using shigaraki to gain power and become a “demon lord”, but if that was the case, you think that any of the previous torchbearers even thought about saving their destined rival?. This is what makes Izuku so different that even the first one for all user, all for one little brother, acknowledges his worth.
So at this point the question we can make ourselves is, what is gonna happen now? Personally and this absolutely my reading of the possible turns of events: i think the hero system is going to be re-constructed, which isn’t going to be easy, but those UA kids would make sure of it somehow. There isn’t going to be a next symbol of peace.
I know you guys are thinking that the next symbol of peace should be izuku, because he is the only one who can fight against shigaraki, has the same vision of heroics that all might and in chapter one we learn that he is narrating the history of how he became a great hero / the greatest hero(i know there are a lot of different translation to this), but looking at what i have writing so long, putting the pressure of japan’s safety in the shoulders of only one person is what dragged the hero society to this point and izuku is smart enough to know that too.
Sorry for this long ramble tho and any typos, when i get excited it's gets harder to translate the words to english my mind hahaha
PS: I feel like we are going to have a time skip after Izuku wakes up.

All Might’s Mental Health is  Declining
Toshinori Yagi wanted to be a hero, wanted to help people ever since he was a boy
Tumblr media
and with Nana’s help, the quirkless kid got his wish.
Tumblr media
But being a hero isn’t for the weak of heart. You’re going to fail. People are going to be hurt. And ultimately, you’ll be alone. Toshinori had to learn this quickly in his life as Nana, his mother figure, died for him at an early age.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other person in his life, Gran Torino, trained him to the best of his abilities, but was a no nonsense, brutal teacher.
Tumblr media
His methods were effective, but scarring, as Toshinori has been terrified of him ever sense.
Tumblr media
He was sent to America on his own to develop his quirk, where he eventually learned to become a hero. But again, that meant work was his life, and he had no social life. Sure he was popular with the media, but as far as developing a lot of personal relationships, he wouldn’t have time for them. Plus, as typical of a hero, in order to keep everyone safe, All Might couldn’t be seen with people he was close to. He most likely kept himself busy the majority of the time to keep from being lost in his own thoughts. People need companions, it’s part of our make up. Toshinori’s surely had to have been a very lonely life.
And then All for One happened. And defeating him almost killed Toshinori, in fact, there’s no good reason he’s still alive, other than to pass on One For All, he should be dead. *Warning graphic details following*
Tumblr media
All for One said himself (English Translation), “A wounded hero is a most frightening animal. Do you know that even now, I sometimes dream of you charging at me with your entrails strewn across the ground.” His entrails. His internal organs. All Might was gravely wounded, yet he still forced himself to fight All For One, even while the hole in his side freely leaked his own body’s contents. In the picture above, All Might kneels above All For One’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, a mixture of both their blood. AFO’s head crushed.
I cannot stress enough the mental impact of this singular event. All Might stood for absolutely NO killing. He would resolve conflict while being careful NOT to kill or even critically hurt anyone. But in this instance, Toshinori killed a man. And the way he did, crushing a man’s head with his bare hands until the skull gave way and his brains were scattered on the pavement below. For someone who believes in no killing, this was a brutal execution. One that, unfortunately, had to happen for the safety of the world, and only All Might was capable of doing it.
Tumblr media
This alone must have severely messed with his head. While he lay in hospital, only capable of healing, AFO haunted his dreams and thoughts. He took another life, blood permanently staining his hands. And now he has to mentally pretend this never happened and act as if everything is fine to the public who hadn’t heard of this fight.
Despite the mental trauma from this, the physical trauma was worse. While he could fake the emotional lasting effects, he couldn’t hide the physical.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This injury took a lot more of him than just his mental stability. It took his stomach, a lung, most likely his spleen, and perhaps more internal organs. Living like this now means lots of medications. Supplements to make up for the lack of stomach, drugs to protect against infection, and pain medication to list a few. Something that big has to hurt like crazy. And all that scar tissue pulling while you try to fight? Torture. He’s most likely had countless corrective surgeries from the scar tissue alone, which only reopens the wound and leaves less and less skin to work with. You can see how caved in the scar is, indicating just how much of his body is missing. His destroyed respiratory system forces blood to fill the remaining lung he has left when he overexerts himself, which is all the time. He probably has to have blood tranfusions regularly to make up for the loss, as well as other injections to assist his body in running properly. There’s probably an oxygen tank by his bedside to help when he’s choking on his own blood in the middle of the night. His body wasting away until his very skin stretches like plastic wrap over nothing but bones. Muscles being eaten away in replacement of food.
But what sucks the most? The time he can be All Might is decreasing more every day. The one thing he’s wanted his whole life, to help people, is starting to become difficult to do. He has to hide his true form from the public, he doesn’t want them to fear for their lives if he can’t help anymore. Now he spends more and more time in his own mind because he can’t distract himself anymore. And what’s worse than the mental pain is the physical accompanying it.
Now BESIDES all this happening, we also have Nighteye’s betrayal. Sir, the man who was his sidekick for years, the guy he’s probably been able to grow the closest to, betrays All Might’s trust and looks into his future. And what does he see?
Tumblr media
In six to seven years, Toshinori will meet a villain, and meet a gruesome demise. The betrayal makes him and Nighteye go separate ways, losing a friend.
Now with his declining health and the death sentence hanging over his head, Toshinori has to think about what he hoped he wouldn’t for years yet. He needs a successor. Someone to give this power to before it’s too late.
Insert Izuku.
Tumblr media
A young, quirkless boy who just wants to help people. Sounds familiar. Izuku is an obvious choice despite everyone telling Toshinori he’s not the right fit. (Like Nighteye whom Toshinori tried to tell, but was only shot down.) So once he hands over One for All to Izuku, the problem, despite the boy destroying himself as he tries to use it and Toshinori being unsure how to help him, is that his power is decreasing even faster now. Which, of course, is to be expected, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to deal with. His time limit is drawn shorter and shorter until All for One starts to make a reappearance.
So not only did Toshinori not kill him, all the trauma he went through was for nothing, but now the world is in danger, again. And he doesn’t know if he can help them. Which means he has to involve his young ward in this mess that killed his mentor, almost killed him, and could potentially kill the boy as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So he tells Izuku of the origin of One for All and All for One. But he doesn’t tell the boy that by the time Izuku fights this guy, Toshinori won’t be around anymore.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t let on how much the power is draining out of his body, and doesn’t enlighten the boy on his own upcoming death. Which unfortunately means he has to lie and give Izuku a false sense of security.
And then, All for One shows up.
Tumblr media
And this time, All Might’s true form is exposed to the public. His weakness. Now the world knows that All Might isn’t invincible. Despite this, he’s still able to force his broken and exhausted body to beat All for One again, while using up the last of One for All, and leaving it up to Izuku.
Tumblr media
Now he’s that quirkless boy who wants to help people again, only this time, he can’t.
Tumblr media
Now he can’t be a hero, the one thing that’s kept him going all these years. And people on the street who don’t recognize him right away, criticize how he looks, which again, is out of his control. So he continues to hide himself in shame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gran Torino has told him he’s not being a proper mentor to Izuku, but the boy is already surpassing him with his schooling from other teachers. So, without heroing and mentoring, all Toshinori has left is being a teacher.
Tumblr media
And unfortunately, Eraserhead has told him he’s also mediocre at that as well.
Then Izuku meets Sir Nighteye, and questions Toshinori about their relationship, while also questioning his own successor-ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which leads to a very emotional scene of Toshinori telling Izuku exactly what happened all those years ago, as well as his death sentence that, oh by the way, is coming either this year or the next.
Tumblr media
Toshinori is fairly emotionless while explaining this to the boy, I imagine he’s fairly disconnected with his own emotions by this point.
Tumblr media
But seeing how upset Izuku was is enough to make him try and console the other that he won’t simply roll over and die, that he’ll go down fighting.

And THEN, he gets word that Sir Nighteye is in grave condition and most likely won’t make it through the night. Even after their falling out, Toshinori goes to his friend’s side, and the resemblance is scary.

Now he can see why Nighteye looked into his future, to see if Toshi had any chance on living. Being put in this position, he can understand. You can even hear Toshinori’s voice break (Japanese version) when he tells Sir that he needs to stay alive to allow Toshi to repent for his sins. But Nighteye can’t stay. And when facing the man who’s always been known for his smile, who can’t do it anymore, Sir says to him: “Smile. Live on, Toshinori.”

But for what?
The most recent episodes have a relatively emotionless Toshinori.
Tumblr media
Like in today’s episode, the best he can give Izuku is a small smile, barely anything. He doesn’t even emote when he catches Hatsume’s stray baby.
Tumblr media
He clearly still has the reflexes of a hero, but he can’t physically be one anymore. His health is too fragile. *Manga spoilers ahead*
Then there’s this scene with Aizawa.

He had long since accepted his own death, maybe even longed for it. But Izuku made him decide to try and live, even though he’s not sure how to anymore.
This poor man has been through Hell. And now he feels useless and helpless. Thank God he finally said something to Aizawa, but he needs more than just this, he needs to have a purpose again. I hope Aizawa and the others can help him find it again.

A Different Time, a Different Place Ch.4
[text:Sunflower] 3:45pm- oh please baby please let me know if you’re okay. I saw on the news that nana is dead- I know what she meant to you but please- you mean everything to me. I need to know. Please... please if you’re alive answer me.
He was taking a break from training with Gran Torino at UA when he heard his phone buzz from his bag. Guilt dropped in his stomach as he knew who it was. The woman he loved. That he’d been avoiding in his grief and rage. Was that fair to her? He loved her. Nana told him to keep going. She used to support his relationship. He’d been avoiding her for five days.
Finally he read the newest message and couldn’t help but respond. She was worried sick- how could he not put her at ease?
[text: Toshi] 3:50pm- Hey. I’m alright. Well I’m not alright but- I’m alive.
[text: Sunflower]3:50pm- TOSHI!!! Oh my god- oh thank god you’re alright. I’ve been worried sick!
[text: Toshi] 3:51pm- I know I’m sorry.
[text: Sunflower] 3:51pm- no no, don’t be sorry baby- I’m not mad. I can’t believe how you must be feeling. I’m just so happy you’re alive. I’m so sorry about nana.
[text: Toshi] 4:05pm- I miss you.
That message broke Keri’s heart and she began to cry sitting at her bed at home. Desperately wiping her eyes she sniffed.
[text: Sunflower] 4:07pm- I miss you too. Come over tonight? Please?
He knew he shouldn’t. All for One will surely be looking for him. And he would be putting her in danger. But after everything he was feeling so lonely, so sad, so angry. He wanted to see her. He loved her didn’t he? He couldn’t abandon her like this.
[text: Toshi] 4:10pm- Okay. I’ll come by your place tonight- 9 too late?
Letting out a soft sob, she cupped her mouth and smiled.
[text: Sunflower] 4:10pm- it’s never too late for me to see your handsome face, my hero.
Toshinori smiled a little for the first time in days.
[text: Toshi] 4:12pm- I’ll see you later then sunflower. I love you.
[text: Sunflower] 4:12pm- I love you Toshi.
He stood, ready to face Gran Torino again.

After training the older man spoke, “I’ve been making arrangements for immediately after graduation.”
“What do you mean, sir?”
“When you graduate in a few weeks, you will go to America.”
“What?! No! I have to find All for One! I have to avenge Nana!”
Gran Torino grabbed his collar, “You have the raw power but you have no experience Toshinori! No skills in the field or for strategy!” He huffed, “You have to go where no one knows you are, where All for One can’t find you. And work to become the symbol of peace.”
“Gran Torino I can’t just leave!”
“Yes you can. You’ll leave and you’ll study abroad for a few years.”
“A-a few years?”
The man nodded, “Toshinori. No one can know.” He gave him a look.
His eyes widened as he came to the realization, “Keri-“
“No one. Can know.”
“No! No, sir! Please! She’s all I have! Let- let her come with me! No one will have to know where we went!”
He shook his head, “First of all, you can’t devote yourself to hero work if you’re worried about a girl. Second of all she has parents, who will notice if she disappears. I also found out she has already been accepted to a prestigious university for psychology.” He sighed, “Not to mention it will make her a bigger target, being with you while you’re in hiding.”
“So what you’re telling me is I can’t even say I’m leaving.”
“No.”
He clenched his fists, tears welling in her eyes, “I have to abandon her...”
“It’s for her own safety, and yours. You are the future, you are the hope of this world. This is why I didn’t want to encourage this relationship.”
“Nana said heroes have time for a life!” He wiped his eyes.
“And look what happened! Now nana’s husband and son are left without her and we can’t even do anything for them! She forbid us.” He sighed, “When you come back to japan I don’t care what you do, but until then I am your teacher and you will follow what I say!”
He looked down at the ground, tears running down his face, “Yes, sir.”
------
Keri waited for him outside on her balcony, knowing he would want to sneak in, as he sometimes did at night. His gigantic red hoodie wrapped around her for warmth in the cool early spring air. As she started to drift off in her little chair she heard her name.
“Keri... honey wake up, I’m here.”
Her eyes opened and she immediately started to cry, “Toshi... this better not be a dream-“
He pulled her by her hand and held her close to him, tears falling down his own cheeks, “Its not sunflower, I’m here- I’m here for real.” His heart was breaking. He already lost the woman he considered as his own mother, and now he would lose the love of his life.
“Oh Toshinori!” She jumped up and hugged around his neck, sniffling and kissing his cheek. He held her to him, “I’m so sorry... I’m so sorry about what happened...” she could feel his heartache. It was deafening.
He sank to his knees and cried now that he was in his safe place- her arms. He would have to commit all of her to memory. Every inch of her. The smell of her. The feeling of her in his arms.
Lifting his head up she kissed him softly and he pushed into the kiss, passionately pouring himself into her. It was partly to chase his grief and anger away, and partly because he didn’t want to let her go. They kissed until they were both breathless and had to break for air. She looked so beautiful, pupils blown, lips puffy and kiss swollen, eyes shining. Cupping her cheek he managed a small smile.
“Come into my room...” she sighed softly, standing and pulling his hand.
“Eh-what?” He blushed. He had only ever been in her bedroom a few times they had snuck in to cuddle or do some other questionable things, “Keri-“
“Toshi... I need you.”
He swallowed. She didn’t need to say anything else, he nodded and picked her up, heading back into her room from the balcony and sitting her gingerly on the bed. He pulled off his shirt and she discarded the hoodie, pulling her own shirt off with it.
Moving forward he crashed his lips into hers, pushing her gently down on the bed, doing his best to be quiet as he kicked off his sneakers. Pawing at his belt, the girl bit his bottom lip gently. He moaned softly and looked down at her- the hickey from five days ago still barely visible. He felt a tear roll down his cheek- five days ago when the world was beautiful and everything was perfect.
She pulled off her bra and leaned forward to kiss him again, her thumb wiping some of his tears away as she shed a few of her own. He pulled away momentarily to stand up and pull off her soft PJ pants and shed his own. Both bare to each other, physically and emotionally, he got back on top of her. He kissed the hickey and whispered, “I love you, Keri.”
“I love you too Toshinori...” she cooed as she lifted a leg around his waist. The man leaned forward, kissing her passionately as he slowly entered her, the only woman he’d ever been with like this, she felt like home.
The two of them quietly and passionately made love in her bedroom before climaxing together, tears in both of their eyes.
Toshinori hovered above her, panting and looking into her eyes, “You’re so beautiful... god I’ll never forget how you make me feel.”
She blushed and leaned up, kissing him again, “Want me to set an alarm and you can sleep in here with me until morning?”
He knew he should say no. He should start the process of pulling away. Being too busy, being unavailable. Preparing her for the day he would leave her life. But looking into those blue eyes, how could he refuse. He was so tired, physically and emotionally. Taking a deep breath he nodded, “I’d love that... here- let me get you some panties, and you can sleep in my shirt.”
Smiling she sighed, at the loss of him between her legs as he got up to go to her dresser. She picked up his black T-shirt and pulled it over her head. Kneeling before her he slid the panties over her plush thighs, leaning down to press kisses over them gingerly, “You’re so good to me...”
He smiled and pulled his boxer briefs back on before crawling into her bed, “We’ve never actually spent the night together.”
“It’ll be our first,” she kissed his jaw, yawning, “First of many.”
She was so wrong and she didn’t even know it.
“Toshi- I didn’t get to tell you! I got into the school I applied to...”
He tried to look excited, even though he already knew, “Oh sunflower I’m so proud of you.” He kissed her softly.
“Now don’t forget, after graduation you have to work on getting your own agency!”
“H-huh?” He felt caught off guard.
“Remember our deal? You become a top hero with an agency and I’ll come work for you.” She gave him a smell smile.
“Oh- oh right- yes, yes of course.” He kissed her head, settling back down, “You know all I ever want to do is make the world safe for you, right?”
“Yes mister symbol of peace.” She smiled softly, closing her eyes.
“And you know I’d only ever do what was best for you?”
She felt a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she wanted to ignore it for now, “Of course.” She rubbed his chest, “Close your eyes and rest, baby, you’ve had a horrible week.”
He sighed and cuddled into her, holding her as the little spoon, “goodnight, honey...”
“Goodnight my hero.”
