You knocked on the wood of the barn to get his attention. It didn’t seem to catch his attention as he was too busy rustling the hay around with a pitchfork. You tried knocking the wood again, hurting your knuckles again. When that didn’t work, you started clearing your throat. First soft then louder. It appeared he was caught up in his own imagination, whistling a bit. – “Jerry!” – you called out as a last resort. Jerry got startled, some hay scooped up in the air as it fell down. Some lost strays of hay falling on his shoulder.
“Y/n!” – Jerry said as the shock wore off. He noticed some hay laying on his shoulder, so he wiped it off. – “Anne is not home.” – he said figuring you came for her. – “I know.” – you replied walking into the barn. Jerry frowned wondering what you were doing here then. – “Nor Marilla or Matthew.” – you let him know.
Jerry set the pitchfork down, leaning a bit against the handle. – “You’ve spied on us.” – he teased with a cheeky smile. It made you pull your shoulders up innocently. – “What are you here for then?” – he asked seeing you smile shyly. His eyes widened with surprise.
“Don’t tell me lovely Y/n you are here to see me?” – Jerry said dramatically gesturing at himself. – “If you are taunting me, I’m not.” – you answered already turning on your heel. Jerry dropped the pitchfork, running over to you. – “Non, non Y/n you shall stay.” – he made clear taking you by the wrist and holding you in place. His reaction made you laugh as you could never stay mad at him.
You let Jerry pull you further into the barn. – “I just have to finish this up and then I am free for you.” – he spoke letting go of your hand. – “I’ll help.” – you suggested picking up some hay from the ground. Jerry quirked his eyebrow up at you. You threw the hay around with a sheepish smile as it made Jerry snort loud. – “Don’t laugh.” – you made clear trying to glare at him.
It made Jerry snort even louder at your face. His laugh made you laugh as well. – “You can sit over there.” – Jerry pointed at a barrel. – “And watch me work. It will be faster.” – she spoke. You obeyed sitting down on the barrel. Jerry winked your way before diving back into the work. You watched how he worked. Fast and organized. Scattering the hay around for Belle, the horse. She needed a warm bed after all.
You were kicking your legs back and forth while humming a song. Jerry started to whistle along with you, occasionally looking over his shoulder to you. – “How is school Y/n?” – he asked to make some small talk. – “Alright.” – you answered stroking your skirt. Removing any wrinkles by hand. – “How are you Jerry?” – you asked in return making him laugh. – “Good Y/n.” – he replied with a chuckle.
Jerry continued to work as you looked around. Blinking a few times thoughtfully, you weren’t sure what you were suddenly feeling. A sense of something brewing. Bubbling inside of you. It took you a few seconds to actually feel the discomfort coming from your stomach. Furrowing your brows, you rubbed your hand over it.
A numb pain let itself know as you felt it squeeze your inside. Making you grab for your stomach. Where was this stomach-ache suddenly coming from? The discomfort grew as it made you cross your legs, bending a bit over to press your hand deep into your stomach.
“You okay?” – Jerry asked having looked over his shoulder to you. – “Fine…” – you answered with distress on your face. – “Liar.” – Jerry spoke back as he suddenly saw you winch from the pain. He let his pitchfork fall into the hay, making his way over to you. – “Where is it hurting?” – he asked with concern.
Your muscles contracted as you panted loud from the pain. Then your eyes widened. Feeling a sudden wetness between your legs. It made you jump off the barrel. You turned a piece of your dress to the front, gasping at the redness of it. Jerry saw it too, making you pull it embarrassed back.
It was your period. – “I…I…I…I’m so sorry.” – you stuttered out feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed. Your cheeks flushed with heat wanting to sink through the ground from shame. You started to make your way to the open gate of the barn to disappear.
“Y/n it is alright.” – Jerry said calmly following you. You started crying feeling stupid and ashamed that he had to see that. Another wave of pain came as it made you flinch at the pain. – “I…I’ll just go home.” – you breathed out not wanting to saddle Jerry with you. You were a mess and you felt like one. – “Non!” – Jerry said firm, grabbing you by your arm.
He started pulling you out of the barn towards the house. – “You are in pain. I will take care of it.” – he said leading you up to the house. He pushed the door open, letting go of you. You stood a bit lost in the room, hands against your arms, blocking your chest. Sniffling loud, you looked embarrassed away. Embarrassed that you had your period around Jerry. A boy!
Jerry started searching the cabinets as he found nothing. He then left for another room, leaving you alone. Feeling disgusted from the wetness between your legs, you felt it leave a thin line of blood going down your leg.
Jerry returned holding some small boxes as he took you again by the arm. He led you up the stairs. Leaving you in the bathroom. There you saw yourself in the mirror. Face red from crying. It made you wipe some sticky hair out of your face and trying to be presentable. What would Jerry think of you now? Jerry returned with a dress. – “Here is it Anne’s, but you can use it for a moment.” – he commented holding it up to you.
You accepted the dress. Jerry then placed the little box on the sink. – “Those are medicine Marilla gives to Anne when she has it.” – Jerry explained. – “I’ll let you change clothes. Do you know what to do?” – he asked. You nodded wiping your cheek dry. Jerry nodded already closing the door. Once shut, you stared a bit lost around you. Till you slowly started to undress.
Sobbing a bit, you cleaned yourself, washing up. You did what you had been taught to keep your dress from staining more. By wrapping extra protection around your waist. Then you took in the medicine for the pain. You gently knocked on the door, letting Jerry know you were done.
Jerry opened the door, taking your blooded dress from you. – “I’ll wash this up so it will be clean when you go home.” – he spoke wanting to disappear again, but you stopped him by calling his name. – “Jerry!” – he paused. – “How… how is it that you know so much? What to do and stuff? I mean you are a boy…” – you spoke. Jerry chuckled. – “I have sisters Y/n.” – he simply said before shutting the door once more. Jerry went downstairs to wash your dress.
Put it in the sink and wash the stain out. You left the bathroom, going down the stairs. Nearly below you stopped to admire Jerry washing your dress. He almost got the stain out, scrubbing hard with soap. When he was done, he turned around, noticing you on the stairs. He smiled lovely at you before heading outside to leave your dress to hang and dry.
He returned, taking your hand to lead you further down. – “How are you feeling?” – he asked concerned leading you into the living room. – “Better, thank you.” – you replied. Jerry sat you down as he came sitting beside you. He wrapped an arm around you. You snuggled closer to him, pulling your legs up with you in the sofa. – “Thank you… for taking care of me.” – you told him, looking up. – “Always lovely Y/n.” – Jerry responded looking back at you.
“I’d care for you a hundred times. I’d wash a thousand dresses if you like. I don’t want to see you in pain or discomfort.” – he told you touching your chin. Lifting yourself a bit up, you neared him. Bringing your lips to his to kiss him. Not just to thank him, but because you actually cared and liked him. Jerry kissed you tenderly back. Then the two of you snuggled closer, cuddling till you no longer had any pain and your dress was dry to change back.

Distracted (PART 2 of Truce)
Gilbert Blythe x Reader
[FLUFF]
Requested: Yes
Summary: After the truce between the reader and Gilbert, things start to feel tense and awkward between the two.
- - -
Anne and Diana stood at the foot of your bed, giggling with eachother as they waited for you to finish getting dressed. They came over to help you get ready for your - as they called - study date with Gilbert.
You trudged into the room, face beet red at the fact that the two girls had been fantasizing about this day for ages.
"Oh, Y/N, you look magnificent," said Anne.
You smiled in appreciation.
"You don't think it's too much?" you asked.
Shaking her head vigorously she took your hand and led you to your mirror. She took your hair in her hands, pinning it back with a little bow.
Diana joined her to revel at your dress.
"He will not be able to take his eyes off of you," she said.
You whined turning to both of them.
"Don't make this a big deal! I'm only going there to study."
Anne and Diana gave eachother a look, grinning at eachother devilishly.
"Well after he sees you, maybe that'll change."
You playfully shove Anne back, widening your eyes at her statement. Not that she was necessarily wrong.
"Anne Shirley Cuthbert! Stop it."
Laughing at her antics you picked up your basket, stuffing your math books inside. Secretly you were hoping Gilbert would be impressed by your attire - not that you were dressing for him...
You walked back to the mirror, eyeing yourself over once more. The dress reached down to the bottom of your knees, with your autumn coat complimenting the colours perfectly.
Okay... maybe you had thought out your outfit a little too much.
Spinning around you grab your friends' hands, hoping their excitement would give you courage to leave the house and see Gilbert.
"I think I'm ready."
The girls shriek, jumping up and down. With one swift move they push you out of your bedroom door. Taking a deep breath you trail down the stairs, gripping onto the bannister for dear life. You prayed that this wouldn't be a mistake - what would you two even talk about?
Oh no...
Turning your head back, you tried to go back upstairs.
"No. You are going. Now," said Diana, grabbing your shoulders and bringing you to the front door.
With one last look of encouragement they practically shove you out the door.
"Go make us proud," yelled Anne as you trudge down the porch.
You keep walking. You were afraid that if you looked back at your house you would want to run back inside.
Which you sort of did.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad...
- - -
The wind in the air caused the grass to ripple like waves. It was the only thing you could focus on as your nerves skyrocketed.
You didn't even know why - I mean you had never felt this way about him before. You always had something witty to say, always been able to look him in the eye and stay calm. Yet the upcoming days to your study session you had barely been able to have a conversation with him without feeling nervous.
The closer you got to his door, the more you wanted to turn back and go home.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) for you, Gilbert had been waiting at the door for you to come. So, as soon as you reached his front door he had already swung it open ready to invite you in.
"Y/N, fancy seeing you here," he said.
A faint smile grew on your face upon seeing his cheery self. Funnily enough, he was both the reason and the cure to your anxiety.
"Of course. I'm ready to finally beat you at math," you responded, still unable to wipe your growing grin.
Moving aside, Gilbert extends his arm out, inviting you in. You set your basket on the table as he reaches for your shoulders, slowly taking your jacket off.
Oh wow.
It was weirdly intimate - with his breath fanning across your neck as he leaned over to reach your height. His fingers brushed across the fabric on your back, pulling the winter coat down from your shivering frame.
You were too afraid to turn your head back to look at him. I mean he was right there.
"So..." he trails off as he hooks your clothing onto the coat hanger.
"I was thinking we could start with algebra?"
You roll your eyes, smiling at his words.
"Gilbert I may be bad at math but I'm not that hopeless," you respond.
To be fair to him all he had seen from you since he got back from his travels was you blanking out on every question asked in class. It wasn't necessarily your fault. You were just always... preoccupied. Preoccupied looking at Gilbert, that is.
Yes. You admitted it. Your mind had been full of thoughts of him ever since he returned to school. The way his eyes glinted in the sunlight, turning his previously black eyes into a warm chocolate colour. Or the way his curls messed up when he'd rush into class on a windy day, scarf strewn about the place.
He was just... cute. Gilbert Blythe was cute.
"Earth to Y/N?"
Speak of the devil.
You were brought back to your senses at the sound of his voice. He had this sweet look on his face as if he was worried about you. His eyebrows were furrowed as he reached a hand over to grab your shoulder.
"Sorry did you say something?"
"I asked where you wanted to start, you know since you definitely have algebra down perfectly," he added the last part teasingly.
You raise an eyebrow at him. Was he seriously starting this right now?
"Right... I was thinking trigonometry."
Before turning away you caught his eyes gazing at your dress, drinking you in with every fibre of his being. They trailed down from your collarbone all the way to the hem, admiring (unbeknownst to him) Diana and Anne's handiwork.
You were trailing off a lot, your mind clearly elsewhere. And he totally knew.
You caught a small grin playing on his lips as he stared at you, mesmerized. His lips, which you now noticed, were incredibly pink and swollen from the cold outside, the blush reaching his cheeks.
"You were outside?" you asked.
"Already changing topics I see," he says as he pulls out a chair for you, proceeding to take a seat across from you.
Again, you rolled your eyes, but took a seat anyway.
He had started explaining the basics to you, his hand motions exaggerating with every word he spoke. However your mind began to wander.
How his soft hands would feel against yours, warming you up on a cold day. Or maybe how it would feel to have his hair tickle the back of your neck as you two hugged, or-
"Y/N!" once again you were shocked out of your thoughts.
You smiled apologetically and muttered a meek 'sorry' before focusing your attention again.
You couldn't believe you were letting yourself be distracted by Gilbert Blythe. For the longest time you had waited for this day to finally come, and now that it was here you couldn't stop thinking about him - even though he was literally right there.
You all but groaned internally, becoming aggravated with your lack of concentration. This was hopeless.
All of a sudden you heard a book snap closed.
You jolt upwards, straightening your back. Shit. You were too focused on not focusing that you stopped focusing!
"I have a sense something might be on your mind?"
Your eyes shifted around the room, trying to look anywhere but at him. Why was this so damn hard? He was just some silly boy who was trying to help you. All you can think about is his stupid smile and his-
"Y/N! Seriously are you feeling okay? You don't seem like yourself."
He had moved now to stand infront of you, hand rested on the back of your chair. He leaned over to take a good look at you. Reaching his hand over to your forehead, he felt the temperature with the back of his hand.
It was warm, soft, and his touch was so tender that you could melt right there.
"I'm okay. Just been distracted lately."
You take his hand from your forehead, skin buzzing at the contact of your fingers almost intertwining together. You place his hand on the table right next to you. This movement had caused his arms to encase around you, meaning you were trapped between him, the chair, and the table.
"Oh yeah?" he asked.
Oh my God. It was killing you being this close to him, yet so, so far.
You nodded, unable to open your mouth in fear that all would come out was incoherent jumbles.
"I can't hear you," responded to your incompetence.
"Yes. I- I have."
"With...?"
His face grew dangerously close to you, breath fanning across your face. His brown curls tumbled onto his eyebrow, blocking his vision slightly.
Your hand slowly raised up, all but trembling in anxiety. Gently, and excruciatingly slow, you push his hair back from his eyes.
His breath hitched in his throat. You had no idea the effect you were having on him, considering he had been trying to hide it all day.
"Why don't we do something about it, then? You wanna talk to me?"
He always knew he liked you. There was never a doubt in his mind - and now as you sat across from him, cheeks reddening by the second, he had no doubt you felt the same.
You were at a loss for words. It's not that you didn't want to tell him. You just didn't know how. Especially with the way your words would catch in your throat everytime you tried.
"Y/N," he whispered. It would've been inaudible if it weren't for the fact that his face was 2 inches away from yours.
Silently, you edged yourself closer to him, now basically sitting at the end of the seat.
His knuckles were now white, holding onto the back of your chair for dear life. He wanted to kiss you, to make a move, but he also desperately wanted to hear you say what he's always wanted you to.
"Kiss me."
And with that any and all constraint he had before diminished.
His lips crashed into yours, the hand that was gripping the chair was now supporting your lower back as you arched closer to him, needing to be as close as possible to him.
His teeth grazed your bottom lip, which caused you to gasp, allowing his tongue to finally massage yours.
You sighed, leaning back and grabbing the back of his neck to lead him towards you. His lips were burning with the sensation of yours against his, and he didn't know if he wanted to pull away.
If it weren't for his lack of oxygen he wouldn't have.
Moving away, but only slightly, you two caught your breath together, your huffs and pants melding into one.
"You still distracted?" he asked, still breathing heavily.
"Now more than ever."
And with that, your lips met once again. Now more passionate than before, as he held onto your waist for stability.
Standing up, you pressed your palms onto his chest, applying pressure to push him backwards.
"If we don't stop we'll never get back to the math problem," you said in a hushed manner.
"Like you were paying attention anyway."
With a playful smack, you pecked his cheek and sat back down, gesturing for him to do the same. He agreed only after you promised that if you get through this question undisturbed, you would have another break with him.
It's safe to say you never finished the trigonometry question.

[ Note: UHM, OF COURSE, I’M DOING THIS ASK, I literally swooned this was so creative, bff, AND please tell me ASAP if I had used she/her pronouns referring to the reader, I got used to writing that, and I hope it changes soon to avoid any mishaps, but I proofread it, and so far I don’t see any, but it is also 1 in the morning, so I can’t be so sure 😭 The title is inspired by MARINA’s song called Froot as I was listening to it while reading this. Anyway, I hope you liked this! ]

[Name] was criticized because of their form not reaching the beauty standards, and ever since [Name] found out that they were non-binary, it made them feel more insecure. What happens when someone from the town finds out and tells everyone? Would their parents kick them out? It was a roller coaster, and they had to be careful.
There is someone [Name] could trust, and it was Jerry. Jerry had been supportive of [Name] and expressed his love and care for them wholeheartedly, it was one of the things they loved about Jerry. He made them feel comfortable around him.
And, that's why they were able to tell Jerry what they felt when they went to his workplace. Jerry found [Name] crying when he climbed on top of the barn, seeing them curled up. “Hello?” Asked Jerry, slowly walking towards [Name]. “Oh, Jerry! Thank God, you're here...” Muttered [Name] whipping off their tears.
“What's the matter?” Questioned Jerry, sitting down next to [Name], looking at them with worried eyes. “I'm sorry, life's been difficult these past few days, I got a lot of stares from people while walking here, and I want to be with you, right now,” Whispered [Name], as they look at Jerry.
Jerry couldn’t imagine what [Name] was feeling, but he felt bad for them, giving them his full support. “Come here,” Nudged Jerry, pulling [Name] in for a hug. They stayed there for a few seconds, arms around each other.
“In times like those, I'd feel like there's no one out there for me,” Mumbled [Name], causing Jerry to look at them with a puzzled look. “What do you mean?” Asked Jerry, giving them his full attention.
“You know, how Anne goes on about love and romance, and I feel like that's not for me. If I'm going to be getting unfamiliar looks from strangers, I might as well not try and find a suitor!” Explained [Name], sighing after. “I feel like no one really loves me,”
“W-Well, I do,” Whispered Jerry, his body tensing up to what [Name] might say, looking away from them. “What?” Inquired [Name], moving away from him to get a better look. “I like you,” Repeated Jerry, feeling confident this time, “I really like you,”
This sudden confession overwhelmed [Name] with happiness and bliss. “I really like you, too, Jerry!” Replied [Name], giving Jerry a charming smile. After a moment of silence, Jerry looked at [Name], only to find them looking at him back.
“What are we now?” Asked [Name], moving their body towards Jerry to get a better look at him. “It depends, if you would like me to court you,” [Name] swore they almost swooned, they never thought about courting, since they thought no one would ever think about courting them, this was a first for them. “Jerry, I would be the happiest person in the world to court you,” Smiled [Name], holding Jerry’s hand.
Jerry couldn’t believe his ears. He hesitated his feelings for [Name], until recently, and he was glad. When he was with Diana he never felt at his place with her, but now he was with [Name], and they made them feel comfortable with a glance.
After their moment, Jerry looked around the barn to see if anyone was near them, “Would you like me to kiss you?” Whispered Jerry, making [Name] blush. Flabbergasted by the sudden question, [Name] still nodded, giving Jerry a smile.
To their surprise, Jerry unexpectedly kissed their belly, making [Name] jump at the sudden contact. The gesture made [Name] feel warmth across their heart, causing them to grim from ear to ear. He didn’t stop there, Jerry kissed [Name]’s hand, a normal peck but made [Name] feel overwhelmed. “Jerry-“ Began [Name], only to be cut off by Jerry’s chapped lip onto theirs.
Jerry pulled away, looking at [Name] with love evident in his eyes, “J’aime, mon amour,” Muttered Jerry, causing [Name] to giggle with delight, Jerry then decided that their laugh was the sweetest thing he had heard. “I love you, too, Jerry,” Smiled [Name].
Embarrassed that his once dirty cheeks were highlighted by pink, as blush ran up to his face, Jerry looked away. It was clear that his confidence faded after a while. [Name] could only laugh at his antics.
They wished this moment could last forever, but unfortunately, Jerry still had to work. After he had said his bye’s to [Name], his lover, [Name] spent the day thinking about their future with Jerry, and we could say the same with Jerry, too.

AWAE 12 Days of Christmas Countdown - Day Four
Day Four: The Sortings
(All countdown stories are missing scenes/additions to my AWAE/HP au. In the story, we see Anne sorted into Ravenclaw, but not Gilbert, Josie, Diana, Ruby, Jerry or Cole’s own conversations with our favorite enigmatic hat.)
(1981)
“Blythe, Gilbert!”
Gilbert held his head resolute as he walked up the steps toward the creaky stool. His back was towards the other students, but he could see the double glances from the professors and the whispers behind hands.
He could only imagine what they were thinking when they saw him. The last Blythe - some of these professors had taught his oldest siblings when they had been at school. He remembered them from the funerals. A few had even taught his parents back when they were students.
He looked up at Professor Allen as he approached the stool and saw a familiar look of pity in his eyes.
Professor Allen was the head of Gryffindor house, where Gilbert’s father and oldest brother had been. The last thing Gilbert saw before the hat slipped over his head was the man’s kind, encouraging smile.
Ah! A Blythe, a voice whispered in his mind. Always a surprise in store with a Blythe, I’ve come to learn. Let’s take a look inside your mind, shall we.
Hmm...well you are your father’s son. Very noble heart indeed. Never one to turn your back on someone else. You could do well in Gryffindor.
I’d like to be in Slytherin, please.
Slytherin? The hat asked. Ravenclaw, I could see. You’ve got a sharp mind and a hunger for learning. A curiosity about the world that Rowena Ravenclaw would be proud of.
Slytherin, Gilbert repeated, glancing toward the table full of green and silver. His father had a green and silver scarf in the hope chest at the end of bed. Gilbert had seen it once - wrapped around a portrait of his mother.
Salazar Slytherin prized cunning and ambition in his students - a certain brand of ruthlessness and personal loyalty.
I have an ambition for learning.
A worthwhile attempt, young Blythe, but that is clearly a Ravenclaw trait.
Gilbert crossed his arms. This might take longer than expected.
Three minutes and forty five seconds later, the hat (who would be shaking its head if it had one) finally called out a house.
“SLYTHERIN!”
*
“Pye, Josephine!”
Josie tossed her hair over one shoulder as she flounced to the horrid old stool they were expected to sit on. She couldn’t believe this was the legendary magical sorting hat. It looked like something some muggle had left out in the rubbish.
And that they were all expected to wear it! What if it messed up her hair? Or somehow she caught a disease?
Josie made up her mind on the spot to share her precise thoughts on this procedure with the headmaster as soon as she got the chance-
“GRYFFINDOR!”
Oh, perfect, the dusty old hat had hardly touched her head. At least she didn’t need to worry about that anymore.
***
(1982)
“Barry, Diana!”
Diana approached the stool with perfect posture, making sure her legs were crossed as she settled on the seat. Mother would be proud of such grace.
Oh you’re a polite little thing aren’t you? The hat chuckled in her ear. Well behaved, of course - but smart too. Much cleverer than you give yourself credit for. Quite logical.
“Thank you,” Diana whispered politely.
Ah but there’s passion there - just a little spark. Interesting. Buried under all those manners and expectations is a vast field of possibilities.
Well there is really only one possibility for you now...yes, best be
“RAVENCLAW!”
*
“Baynard, Jerry!”
Jerry had only considered calling it quits and running back home about ten times since he arrived in London that morning. It was only the knowledge that his parents had spent quite a bit of money on books and travel to get him here in the first place, and how excited (if a little scared) they were that him being a wizard gave him a chance for education, that kept him going forward. Now, as he felt the eyes of all these strangers on him, he felt the now familiar urge ro run take hold once more.
Ah, a muggleborn hmm?
Jerry would have screamed, but his mouth was too dry. The hat was now speaking in his head. Sure. It was singing before, so it speaking in his head wasn’t too different.
I’ve seen ones like you before. A hard worker, not afraid of effort or hardship. And determined too...though it takes no small amount of courage to leave your family behind.
Jerry wondered if the hat knew his secret.
Never learned how to read? No matter. I already know just where to put you...
“HUFFLEPUFF!”
*
“Gillis, Ruby!”
Ruby let out a little squeak. She had watched as one by one her friends were sorted- first Jane, then Diana and Tillie - and now her turn had come at last.
She nearly tripped over her foot as she hurried up the steps. From the Gryffindor table, Tillie gave her an encouraging wave.
Her feet hovered off the ground as she sat on the stool, and the brim of the hat fell down to her shoulders.
Well well, Miss Gillis. I’ve sorted several of you now, I think. You’re the last one?
Ruby gave a tiny nod. Her three older sisters had all already graduated Hogwarts - Ruby had been what her grandmother liked to call a “blessed surprise” to the family.
And not one to the same house it seems. Quite a strong opinion on chivalry, have we? You’ll do well in...
“GRYFFINDOR!”
*
“MacKenzie, Cole.”
Cole kept his head bent down as he shuffled toward the sorting hat. He almost dreaded whatever would happen next. He had listened to the hat’s song, but nowhere did it mention a house for quiet, solitary boys who’d rather draw than cast spells.
What if the hat didn’t say anything at all? Would Cole be free to go home?
An artist hmm? I can always tell. There’s something about your minds, the way you see things. This is one of the strongest I’ve seen in years.
I....thank you? I think, Cole thought back. Well, at least a hat thought he was talented. Granted it was a hat, so what did it know?
A hat that was forged by the founders themselves, thank you very much. It seemed miffed, if that were possible for a hat. I’ve seen more artists and masterpieces than you ever could in your short little lifespan.
Right...sorry, Cole thought. Um. Could you sort me, please?
Always in a hurry, the sorting hat said. Lets see what we have here....most artists end up in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, given the creative and hard work that goes into it...though Slytherin has produced their fair share as well.
But you’re not just an artist, are you? You have a kind soul...and a strong sense of loyalty, to those you chose to give it to. And...ah. A dream to be different from what your family wants. To be you.
I suspect your path may have many hardships, Mister MacKenzie. One as brave and strong to follow that path could only belong in one house.
“GRYFFINDOR!”
The hat was lifted from his head and Cole blinked at the sudden lights and noise that erupted.
Merlin, was the hat such a downer with everyone?

You're the One
Jerry Baynard x f/Reader
Main Masterlist ♡ Anne With an E Masterlist ♡ Jerry Baynard
Just like all my other stories, this has not been proofread, but please enjoy.
Not good at making up titles, so I am so sorry.
Gifs & photos do not belong to me.
Have no idea if anyone will read this, just really wanted to write for Jerry Baynard.
There will be a part 2.
Jerry Baynard's POV:
I was eating my lunch that my Mother made when Matthew came rushing over to me.
"When you are done Jerry, I need you to head over to Lynde's Hollow."
"I thought that place is empty Matthew ever since Mrs. Lynde moved here?"
"It was. She sold it to a family that wanted to move to Avonlea but did not want to wait for a new house to be built."
"What do I need to take over?"
"Just this note and a pie that Marilla made to welcome the family, but I will need you to hurry back."
"Oui Matthew." I said as he walked away from me. Probably to go in to grab some lunch with Marilla.
Tumblr media
I finished my food quickly and I was off to Lynde's Hollow. It wasn't very far and it is a nice summer day.
Usually Anne would of joined me but she was at the Barry household since all her chores were done.
I tried not to think about Diana Barry and how she broke my heart. I wish she understood the pain she caused.
Made me feel like a I was just a plaything to her. Rich people and poor people like me do not mix well.
I came to a stop infront of the house and I noticed plenty of children running around out front and an older woman sitting on the front porch talking to a younger woman who looked to be closer to my age.
"Bonjour." I called out.
"Hello." The older lady said as she stood up.
"My name is Jerry and I work for the Cuthbert family over at Green Gables. I have this note and this pie made by Marilla Cuthbert."
I handed the two items over and she read through the note.
"What does it say Mother?" One of the younger children asked.
"I have been invited over for some tea to get to know the women of Avonlea this Friday. Jerry if you don't mind telling Miss Cuthbert that I will be there."
"Of course not Madame..." hmm I don't even know the name of this family.
"Ohh I am sorry dear, my name is Lottie L/N. Children stand in line so I can introduce you all."
I watched in amazement as the children seemed to line up, youngest to oldest. The woman who seems to be close to my age was the oldest.
"From youngest to oldest is Howard, Silas, Clara, Robert, Della, Ralph, Simon and Y/N. The children from Della to Y/N will be joining you at the school house next month."
My face went red when Mrs. L/N said that. "I am..I don't go to school Madame."
"Oh I am so sorry dear. I just assumed."
"No worries Madame. I must be going."
"Nice to meet you Jerry. I hope to see you around some time." Y/N said as she stepped out of the line up.
I could feel my cheeks heating up and I muttered under my breath at her.
As I rode away in the cart, I heard the other children saying good bye, but the only voice that stuck out was Y/Ns.
Y/N'S POV:
My eyes barely left Jerry until he was he completely out of my line of sight.
I felt someone slap my arm and I looked over at my Mother. "May I ask what that was for?"
"You ogling a boy you just met. You were raised better than that Y/N." She said as she walked into the house, carrying the pie and putting it on the counter.
"Sorry Mother. I couldn't help myself. His French accent was so sweet."
"Yes, it was a nice accent. Sad to think that young man does not get proper education." My Mother said.
See my Mother was a school teacher before she married my Father and believes that every child should be able to go to school.
"Maybe there is something we can do."
"And what can we do dear?"
It is now Friday and my Mother went to have tea with the women of Avonlea.
I thought on it. I have no idea yet.
~
I was watching my Brothers and Sisters when the idea just popped into my head.
I was so excited that I could hardly contain my excitement when Mother came home.
"Mother I have an idea."
"Let me at least take off my hat and gloves dear."
I waited for her to get settled in her chair in the family room.
"What is your idea Y/N?"
"Okay, so you know how we have to many servants now that we have moved to Avonlea?"
"Yes."
"Why don't we have one work for the Cuthbert family. They are under contract here, so they will still be getting paid by us."
"And what of Jerry? Obviously he is working because he has too Y/N."
"Father and you were going to hire someone for weekend work at the new store, hire Jerry. I will work with him until he is comfortable enough to be on his own."
"Hmm I will talk it over with your Father and see what he says. If he says yes, then I will talk with Matthew and Marilla."
I know my Father will say yes. He is always wanting to give people a chance, and Jerry Baynard deserves this chance.
All through dinner I waited for Mother to say something to my Father, but I knew she would ask him in private.
I have no idea what he said because they gave no indication if he agreed to it or not.
Jerry Baynard's POV:
Tumblr media
It has been a few weeks since I ran that errand for Matthew. I got to Green Gables not too long after sun rise when Matthew called me to into the kitchen.
"Good morning Marilla. Good morning Matthew." I said as I took a seat at the table.
"Good morning Jerry. We have some news for you."
"News?" I was confused.
"Yes news. We are letting you go but have secured work for you with the L/N family. I know Mrs. L/N is waiting for you right now."
"Did I do something wrong? You will still need help around here Matthew."
"Jerry, you did nothing wrong and do not worry about me. I already have someone lined up. Now off you go Jerry and please stop by for a visit any time." Matthew said as he shook my hand goodbye.
Marilla gave me a hug, which I am shocked at.
I made my way to what is now known as L/N's Hollow.
I knocked on the front door once I made it there and Y/N opened there. "Bonjour Jerry."
I couldn't help but smile at her. "Bonjour Y/N. May I come in?"
"Yes, we have been waiting for you. Please come in." She said as she stepped to the side to let me walk in. Y/N closed the door behind me and showed me where her mother was.
"Good morning Jerry, please have a seat. Y/N. Please leave Jerry and I alone."
I took a seat across from Madame L/N.
"Tea?" She offered. I said yes as I am thirsty from the walk.
"Now Jerry, I am sure you are wondering why you are now working for us."
"Oui Madame."
"See Jerry, I was a school teacher before I married my husband and I believe all children should have an education. So my husband and I have hired you for weekend work at our shop we have opened up."
"But Madame, I need to work many hours to help my family."
"Yes, I figured that was the case, but do not worry. You will be paid well and make more than you did at Green Gables. I can assure you that working just for the two days at our Toy Store, you will make more each pay day then you did two months of working for them."
My eyes bugged out of my head.
"On one condition Jerry?"
"Condition?"
"Yes Jerry. I would like for you to go to school."
I felt like I couldn't breath. I am going to school. I will actually be going to school.
"Now I have some other questions if you do not mind me asking?"
She asked me about my life at home and I answered honestly.
I told her all about my siblings and how none of us have ever gone to school.
"Now that just won't do. I would like to meet your Parents. Do you think they would meet with me?"
"Yes."
I went over all the details with Madame L/N and even had lunch with the family. I sat beside Y/N and I couldn't help but smile at her.
Once lunch was over, it was time for me to go home. Y/N decided to walk with me until we got to the end of the path.
"Your Mother told me that this was your idea. Thank you Y/N."
"We wanted to help some way. I am like my Nother in believing every child should have a chance at an education."
We talked more about our families until it was time for me to continue on my own.
"Remember to ask your parents if they would like to meet with my Mother."
"I will not forget." I started to walk away when I heard her call my name. I turned around and Y/N wrapped her arms around me and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
The only person I have ever had a kiss from was Diana but her kiss did not make me feel like I had butterflies in my tummy.
"Goodbye Jerry."
"Goodbye Y/N." I said as she turned to walk back to her house. I watched until I couldn't see her anymore.
I got home and my Mother was so worried that I got fired, but I explained everything to her.
"Madame L/N would also like to see and Papa when you two have a chance."
"Why does she want to meet with us?"
"I have no idea, but she is good person so I see no harm in going." I gave her my honest opinion.
"I will talk to your Papa when he gets home."
Later on, as my siblings and I were all sleeping in our bed, I couldn't help but try to listen to my parents conversation.
Tumblr media
It was hard to hear but I gathered that my Papa agreed to meet them tomorrow evening when he is done work.
I got up the next morning and it was nice not to be in rush for once. I enjoyed spending time with my younger siblings before they had to leave for their own jobs. I left to go and inform the L/N that my parents will be coming over this evening.
I knocked on the door and one of the servants opened the door this time. I informed her I was there to see Mrs. L/N.
She had me wait on the front porch as she went to go and inform her of my arrival.
"Jerry, such a nice surprise, come in." I walked in and closed the door behind me.
I noticed how quiet the house is and started to look around to see if children were anywhere.
"My Husband took the kids to see the new shop. They won't be back until later, but have a seat."
I was disappointed that I would not see Y/N. "I talked to my Parents last night and they will be around this evening if that is okay with you."
"Yes that will be wonderful. We can push back on dinner. Have your whole family here."
"Really? There is many of us."
"Of course, the more the merrier. If you are going to be working with my Husband and Y/N, it would be nice to get to know your family."
My ears perked up. "I will be working with Y/N Madame?"
"Why yes. She will be teaching you how to do things there and please call me Lottie." Madame L/N said with a small smile.
We talked for a bit longer until I had to leave to tell my Mother not to make dinner tonight.
Once I got home I told my Mother what Lottie said.
"She really said bring everyone?"
"Yes Mama."
"Looks like everyone needs a quick bath."
My siblings were not happy about having a bath and putting on some decent clothes. Well as decent as we could.
We left as soon as my Papa and older brother were able to clean themselves quickly.
My family and I rode to L/N Hollow and I could hear my Mama gasp as she took in the house.
Tumblr media
I was helping my younger siblings out of the wagon when the front door swung open and out came Y/N and her younger siblings.
"Welcome Baynard Family. I hope you are hungry, dinner is just about ready." Y/L said as she welcomed my family. "Hello Jerry." She said will a massive smile on her face. I couldn't help but smile back as I said hello.
"Simon, please take the children inside while I show Mr. Baynard where to put the horses. Please, right this was sir."
My older brother and younger siblings followed the L/N children into the house.
"What was that about Jerry?" My Mama asked me.
"We get along well Mama." I said to her.
"I just don't want your heart to be broken again."
"I promise you Y/N is different, but we are just friends for now."
It looked like she was going to say something else when my Papa and Y/N came back.
"Please follow me. My parents are looking forward to meeting you."
We enjoyed our dinner and even had dessert, which is such a treat for my family.
My Parents and Y/N's Parents went have a talk in the tea room, to talk about Lord knows what. "Y/L, Jerry if you wish to join us you can." Lottie said.
"Yes Mother." Y/N said as I followed Y/N as I didn't want to be far from her.
Once we were all settled and enjoying the tea, Mr L/N started to talk.
"Now Mr Baynard my Wife tells me Alexandre and yourself are trappers correct?"
"Yes we are."
"I have a proposition for you and your wife. I need landscapers as ours did not come with our family when we moved out here. I asked around town about where you lived and I went to your property and it is beautifully kept."
"Why thank you Mr. L/N." My Papa said. My Mama and him do all the landscaping on our property.
"I do not need an answer right away, but if you agree, let's just say you will not be worrying about money. I pay my employees well."
"But what about the children?" My Mama asked.
"If you would like, they can go to school. They will not have to work."
"Jerry, I would like to talk to Mr and Mrs L/N in private." My Papa said.
"You may go as well Y/N." Lottie said.
The two of us left the room, closing the door behind us.
"Come this way, all the kids are out front." Y/N said as she grabbed my hand.
The two of us ran towards the back of the house and out the back door.
I followed Y/N until she slowed down and sat on the grass. I sat down beside her.
"You know Jerry, I am just going to come out and saw it, but I really like you."
"I like you too Y/N."
"No, I mean I like, like you. Alot."
"I know what you mean." I said as I leaned in closer to her.
Y/N noticed my movement and turned to face me. She leaned in closer to me and our lips were just about to touch.

Unread - Jerry Baynard
Request: Hello!♡ Could I please request a romantic one with Jerry Baynard from 'Anne with an E' and a female reader? Something where it starts angsty where she tells him “I’m afraid you’ll end up seeing me the way I see myself.” and/or “I don’t deserve you.”->“You deserve everything.” and it ends fluffy when he confesses his love for her, but she doesn't believe him?
I hope that's alright for you and thank you!♡
A/N: I really wanna watch this again but I know I’ll just cry the whole time.
Anne with an E Masterlist
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
“Good morning,” you called as you slipped through the narrow opening in the fence. Jerry was sitting on the porch of the Cuthbert’s, gaze turned down to the book in his lap. It was still early in the morning, the sun just beginning to rise in the sky. You’d been gone two days on an errand for Marilla back to Charlottetown and while you had expected to enjoy the city, you had found yourself missing Jerry more than anything else.
With Anne away at college, the Cuthberts’ had decided that Jerry needed help around the farm. Neither of them wanted to part with Green Gables, not that you could blame them. You could still remember that first ride up to the house in the carriage, eyes wide as you took in the scenery around you and the sheer beauty of their farm. They’d sought out help in Charlottetown and Matthew had returned with you, around Anne’s age, looking for work that would keep you out of the less savory parts of the city.
“Hello!” Jerry’s familiar accent reached your ears and you smiled unconsciously as he set aside his book to greet you.
You liked Jerry, not simply because his opinion mattered to the Cuthberts but because he had been a good friend. Sweet, earnest, you weren’t shy to admit (at least to yourself) that you had a crush on him. It was unfortunate in a way, because you knew he could never see you the same way. Rachel had let slip, when she’d visited a week earlier, that Jerry had gone with Diana Barry for a short time. Though you didn’t know Diana personally you knew she was smart, wealthy, sophisticated. Certainly better than a hired helper for the farm.
“What are you reading?” You asked, for the sake of the conversation so early in the morning. What little education you had managed to pick up over the years had not included reading or writing. You had an excellent memory but that was only by default, because of a lack of ability in other things.
“Ah, one of Anne’s books she’s left behind.” He replied, holding it up for you to see the title before he said, “Pride and Prejudice...I’m not so sure I like it.”
“I’ve never read it.” You admitted honestly.
“It’s very...it’s about people who are in love with each other but afraid to admit it.” He replied, “I’m not much for romance.”
“Nonsense,” you teased, “You’re very romantic Jerry. You picked out those flowers for my birthday.” You recalled the daisies that he’d wrapped in a bouquet for your birthday a few months back. He’d given you a card too but you had never even opened it, knowing you would never be sure what it said and too embarrassed to ask Marilla to read it for you.
Jerry couldn’t help the smile that passed when you mentioned the flowers. He’d picked them from the patch of garden near his family’s house but he’d been nervous to give them to you. Even more so, to give you the card. He’d taken Anne’s advice, writing down all the feelings he had for you in a letter. When you thanked him but never mentioned it again, he assumed that meant you didn’t feel the same way. And why should you, he could only hope that someone like you could like him as much as he liked you. “You liked the flowers then?”
“I thanked you for them, of course I liked them.” You insisted, grabbing the rubber boots off the mat and beginning to take your shoes off. It was a farm day, that much you were sure of.
“You thanked me when you got them...” he replied, as if that meant something different. “You never said anything about the card.”
“The card?”
“The card that I gave you.” Jerry explained.
“Well I,” you paused, thinking of the well-worn envelope that you had held in your hands every night before bed, running your fingers over your name written in pencil. You’d thought about the card every night, wondering what he might’ve written inside. Was it just happy birthday, was it something else? You bit your bottom lip, resisting the urge to run from the situation at hand. Maybe you should’ve had Marilla read it to you, “I can’t read.” You finally said in the smallest voice.
“Oh,” he would’ve hit his head on something if he could’ve, if only to knock some sense into himself. He’d been unable to read for so long and had been offended when Anne suggested anything about reading, how could he have done the same to another person. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“That’s alright.”
“It’s not,” he insisted, “I shouldn’t have assumed. You just seemed so...smart about the world.” He said, stumbling over the explanation. “Anne taught me how to read, I could teach you.”
“I don’t think I’d make a good student; I’ve never been too good at learning.” You admitted, thinking of all the times your teachers had admonished you.
“You pick up things around here easily. How Marilla likes the house kept or how Matthew prefers the chicken coop to be. You aren’t slow about learning.”
“I’ve never thought of them as being the same.” You replied, picking up the book that Jerry had laid aside, “you’re a good friend Jerry, I don’t deserve you.”
“You deserve everything.” He was quick to reply, genuinely serious. You deserved far more than he would be able to ever give you but he certainly liked to think of being given the opportunity. “My card, for your birthday, Anne told me that writing down my thoughts would make them clear. I really like you, seeing you in the morning makes me happy...I wrote all that in there. How much I like being around you and how I’ve thought of us being more than friends.”
You felt like your breath caught in your throat as you looked at him. You had thought about the possibility of being those things to Jerry but you had never let yourself get too swept up in the daydream. “I can’t...let myself imagine that. I’m afraid you’ll end up seeing me the way I see myself.”
“Maybe it’ll be the other way around?” Jerry suggested.
The door clanged on its hinges behind the two of you and you looked up startled to see Matthew bustling through the door as if he hadn’t just interrupted a conversation. He took a seat on the bench, greeting both of you as he pulled his boots on for the day.
“Morning Matthew,” you greeted, placing the book aside and standing up.
Jerry stood just after you, offering his own greeting as he promised to look into the barn first thing as Matthew gave out orders for the morning. “I’ll meet you in the barn.”
“Alright, don’t dillydally.”
“You should go,” you instructed as Matthew headed down the short path to the barn, “he’ll scold you for being late.”
“Hardly.” Jerry replied, “he’s late himself.”
“Jerry.”
“I meant it,” he said, ignoring your warning, “give me a chance? Maybe you’ll end up seeing yourself the way I see you.” He didn’t need to tell you how that was because when you looked at him you could see it for yourself. The feeling nearly took your breath away all over again.
“After we finish our work.”

Summary: TW! Selfharm! You are upset of how your friends have such amazing lives while yours is terrible. Coming from a bad home, your coping behavior is self harm. Struggling with the idea of wanting to end it all, is Jerry there to save you from doing so.
Tumblr media
The chattering died away when Miss Stacy settled everyone down. Specifically Anne who was proclaiming her opinion as loud as she could. Almost standing on the table to declare her words. Diana was tugging at her dress to pull her to sit. – “Miss Cuthbert if you please.” – Miss Stacy said giving her a stern glare. Anne chuckled settling down. Ruby was still whispering to Tillie. With one look of Miss Stacy pressed Ruby her lips together with force. Billy snorting across the classroom at how silly she looked.
Miss Stacy cleared her throat letting his chuckle die. When finally the peace had settled clasped Miss Stacy her hands together. – “I hope you all brought your assignments that I handed out last week.” – she started. Anne who was always eager already set her basket on the table, ready to show it to Miss Stacy. Miss Stacy smiled politely ushering her to wait. – “You may all set it on the table if you please.” – she continued giving the signal.
Everyone ducked down to reach in their baskets to set their work of art on the table. You felt uneasy taking out your artwork. Glancing to the side you saw Charlie’s piece of art. Billy and Paul laughing loud. – “Is that an aardvark?” – Billy joked laughing his ass off. Charlie groaned. – “No! It’s a dog.” – he mumbled setting his hand under his chin, pushing his artwork closer to his chest. Gilbert turned around in his seat looking at Billy’s work.
“Is that a self-portrait?” – he said snarky. Billy mimicked a childish laugh, annoyed by his words. – “Well yeah yours…” – Billy got a bit up to look at Gilbert’s work. Gilbert moved aside on purpose for him to see. – “Well yours… yours…” – Billy said trying to find an insult. Gilbert was smiling beyond himself when Billy couldn’t find something bad to say about it. – “I thought so.” – he said turning back around silencing Billy.
Paul laughed loud at how Gilbert had left Billy speechless. Across back by the girls was Anne proudly showing her masterpiece to everyone. – “Did you do this stitching?” – Diana asked pointing at it. Anne shook her head. – “No, Marilla helped me.” – she then pointed at some paint work. – “This is Matthew’s work, and this weird thing was added by Jerry.” – she finished pointing at a wobbly thing at the top. Diana held her art up. – “My mother helped as well. She painted the flowers.” – she commented.
Ruby got up waving her hand in between them for attention. – “My mother helped too! She did this, this, and this.” – she said pointing at several things in different angles. – “What did you do?” – Tillie replied as it appeared Ruby’s mother did everything herself. – “I did this.” – Ruby answered annoyed pointing at her name written in the corner. Diana rolled her eyes at how silly she was.
Seeing their work you rather wanted to crush it or throw it out of the window. Compared to their, yours seemed like it was made by a child. Also hearing them speak so lovingly about how their parents helped out felt like a punch in your gut. It was something you could only dream off, having a loving mother. Your mother didn’t help in your project. You dared ask her one time. That didn’t end well.
You got yelled at for ruining her moment and annoying her with silliness. Looking at your art again of paper mâché you noticed the dent of where your father had stepped on it. On purpose or accident. It didn’t really much as it had ruined it much. Seeing your friends talk so godly about their parents made you want to cry, pull your hair out and scream your lungs out. Ruby and Tillie turned around to you.
“Let me see yours Y/n.” – Ruby spoke as Diana and Anne looked over them. You pulled it closer to your chest, shaking your head. – “It’s…it’s terrible.” – insisting on it. – “Come show us Y/n.” – Tillie said pulling at your hand. You really didn’t want to show her, finding it unworthy. Ruby helped her to pull your hand away. Tillie then snatched it from you. – “Hey!” – you called out catching the attention of some boys across and Miss Stacy who waited to see where this was going.
Tillie held it up before her looking at it with a questioning brow. – “Did your mother help out?” – Ruby asked probably not meaning anything with it. She was always this innocent and naïve, yet it struck a nerve with you. – “No!” – you called out snatching the art from Tillie back. You then it on the ground setting your foot hard on it. Everyone gasped loud at your little act. – “Y/n!” – Miss Stacy called out concerned. You let your fingers brush automatically over your inner arm, knowing of the scars lingering there.
“Brute.” – one of Billy’s friends called out. Miss Stacy shushing him immediately. Miss Stacy approached you, kneeling gently down to pick up your crushed work of art. – “We can still mend this.” – she said with a warm smile. You shook your head. – “It is broken!” – you answered. Just like yourself. Turning your face away from her, you felt ashamed.
Ashamed and unworthy. Truly wondering what the exact point of you was. Not one of them here knowing a darn thing about your family. They had no idea with their wonderous lives, living like princesses. While you crawled through the gutter with no way out. Consistently surrounded by darkness. The only way out of the sinking was the carving. The marks on your inner arms that helped you coped with it.
Miss Stacy reached up to take your hand. The second she had your hand, you pulled it away. Needing to escape you took a run for it. – “Y/n.” – Miss Stacy called out as some jumped up. Gilbert being one of them. He wanted to run after you as Miss Stacy held him back by his shoulder. – “Let us give her a moment in solitude.” – Miss Stacy said sensing you didn’t want any company at this moment. – “But…” – Gilbert started seeing Miss Stacy shake her head.
He sighed deep, slouching his shoulders. He returned to his seat. Miss Stacy set your artwork on her desk, seeing how sloppy it was once your foot had tackled it. You ran frantically into the woods away from the school. Unable to cope with it. The sugary of your friends biting like sour in your flesh. Their life was something you could never achieve. Not with the home situation you have now.
A mother and father who barely looked at you. A brother who tackled you whenever he pleased. All the workload put on you. Treated like dirt by your own family. Never once said an ‘I love you’ or ‘thank you.’ Maybe this was just how things were meant to be. Unloved. Panting loud you kept running coming into different parts of the woods.
Jerry was whistling loud, carrying a sack over his shoulder. He had come back from the market, making his way back to Green Gables. Something caught his sudden attention as he noticed it was you. – “Y/n!” – Jerry shouted happily waving your way. He frowned when you didn’t seem to see him. Simply running past. Jerry lowered his sack questionable. Why weren’t you at school? Why were you running away? Was everything alright?
Feeling a bit worried he picked up his sack again, going after you. Near a shack crashed you down; out of breath. Leaning against the wood you let your head fall back. Still panting till your breathing steadied. Then the thoughts came. Those dark thoughts that always pushed you to the edge. You already know what to do. Reaching in your pocket, you pulled out a sharp object. Then slowly pulling your sleeves up. Scars of old on your flesh.
Those dark thoughts became louder as it made you bring the tip of the sharpness to your wrist. Tears rolled down your cheek as your hand trembled. It would take one impulsive thought for you to bleed. Bleed till your life would slip away. Why shouldn’t you do it? What good was there in this life? There was no one to pull you out so it was easier to just accept it and be rid of this hell.
Gently setting the tip deeper onto your skin, your sight got blurrier from your tears. – “No!” – you suddenly heard startling you so hard, the tip had pressed deeper into your skin. A single drop of blood forming. Jerry rushed over to you, grabbing the sharp thing from your grip, and throwing it as far away from him. – “Don’t you dare!” – he breathed out.
“Don’t you even think about it!” – he said a bit firmer kneeling down in front of you. Grabbing your shoulders, he pulled you close to his chest for a hug. – “Find hope in the hopeless.” – he told you. – “I don’t know what made you do it, but please don’t. I don’t want to lose you… I don’t.” – he embraced you tighter fighting the urge to cry himself. – “Please Y/n…” – he whispered out as you started crying louder.
In the brink of almost doing it was Jerry there to pull you out. – “We’ll figure it out together. I am fighting for you, and I don’t want you to give up.” – wrapping your arms around him, you hugged back. – “Jerry…” – you cried out. Jerry simply held you, no needing an explanation. Just holding you. In that moment where he knew you needed to be seen, heard and loved.

Dating Anne Shirley HCs
Anne Shirley Cuthbert x Fem!Reader
[FLUFF]
Requested: yes
Summary: title is self explanatory
- - -
well to start off, it isn't easy being together in such a society
especially back then with people's views on homosexuality and just women in general
i mean how could two women eveerrr sustain themselves? (🙄)
at first you two thought you were just best friends, like how anne and diana were - but as time went along you realized there was something different about you and her
your friendship wasn't exactly identical to her and diana's - anne didn't feel that you two were kindred spirits, but somehow you two were more
she could never find a word for it until one day she found a definition in a book that seemed to perfectly describe what you two were
soulmates: a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural like affinity; kinship of spirits
while it was similar to kindred spirits, she felt soulmate described you better
for anne, she's a very open minded person, especially being friends with cole and aunt josephine - so to her, she began to realize she liked you quite quickly
you had known you liked girls of course, but never did you think anne did
so for the longest time you had hidden your feelings towards her, not wanting to admit tht you liked her and ruin your friendship or make her uncomfortable
i mean she liked gilbert, right?
WRONG
you had found out one day while overhearing a conversation with her and ms. stacey
"ms. stacey, do you think two women could ever thrive together in this world? romantically of course. oh wouldn't it just be splendid?"
ms. stacey agreed, letting anne know there were plenty of places that were evolving and being more open to new kinds of love - "they're like secret lairs, and they're wonderful; if you can find them," she had stated
"like aunt josephine's party. i see. well i should take Y/N shouldn't i? oh i'm sure she'd love it!"
and with that she yelled a thank you to ms. stacey and sprinted out the door to find you
to her surprise you were already outside, mouth slightly agape at the sudden realization that anne liked you back
and that's how you two found out
anne was very open with her feelings, always, so you never lacked reassurance or words of affirmation
she's a very proud girlfriend, i must say
"you got a b on our last test, that's amazing!!"
"anne you did better than me," you laughed
"so what? you did great too"
will always, ALWAYS hold your hand under the table if you're having dinner with marilla and matthew
she knows its nerve wracking to meet her family, even if you had known them for a long time
she'll draw patterns on your hand with her thumb, and when you're alone she'll do them all over your arm
if you let her she likes to draw on you occasionally
nothing too big or flashy, just little designs where only you and her will know they're there
she once wrote 'i love you' above your knee, knowing no one but you and her will ever see it
she was really one for forbidden love
she just thinks its 'oh so romantical and tragic'
speaking of love, you were definitely the first to say it
anne knew she loved you for a while, but her conflicting feelings held her back from ever making the first move to profess it
as much as she longed for love her entire life, it also scared her
it's not something she's always had in her life, so now that she had it she didn't know how to act
i mean she had no idea what she was doing, but she would never let you in on the fact that she was a nervous wreck around you sometimes
whenever she makes her usual silly mistakes she will immediately think you hate her and that she's not made for a relationship
but she soon calms down after many many times of you reassuring her that you love her
you always assure her that just because she makes mistakes or upsets you doesn't mean you'll leave
and it takes her a while but she eventually finally believes you
she is definitely more mature now, so she doesn't do as many stupid things as she did before
her love language is quite literally everything
of course physical touch and words of affirmation are a big part of it
but she also loves to make you little gifts, or collect things on her walks for you
especially flowers or leaves
your whole room is full of all the little trinkets anne gives you
she'll sometimes write notes along with the gift such as: "because it's beauty reminds me of you"
or for special occasions like your birthday or christmas, she will write you a love letter and hide it under your pillow for you to find
she's also big on quality time
she'll plan picnics for you two when the weather is nice, or even just bring you climbing on her favorite tree
"i've never brought anyone up here, it could be like our special place"
or if you had to study or do homework she will gladly sit in silence on your bed while you finish up
and to piggyback off that point, acts of service are also a must
she'll help you clean your room, or do laundry, or help you with homework that you're stuck on
and she loves having mini fashion shows in your room, helping you pick out which dress to wear for what occasion
she will do anything and everything for you and you don't even have to ask
she is possibly the most loving person you have ever met, and you are forever grateful for her
on particularly hard days when you have to be apart for long, she'll sneak out with you to meet you halfway from your own home, just so she can watch the stars with you
you guys savour every and any moment together
if you're comfortable with it, she would want to make you guys officially public
she just wants the whole world to know you're hers and she's yours
there is never a boring moment with anne, and whether you like it or not, she is ALWAYS sticking by your side
she aspires to be like aunt josephine when she is older, so definitely look forward to living in a lovely home with her as her life companion
she would find books for you to read, especially ones where she could find lesbian characters, because she loved seeing your relationship represented in books since she loved reading so much
it meant a lot to her, so one day for her birthday you got her
knowing she loved unique and creative books, you bought her 'Carmilla' by Sheridan Le Fanu - the book depicts a lesbian vampire, and anne loved it
"the author is also irish, i know it's not quite scottish - but it's close," you'd say, wanting to make the gift as special as you could
"thank you Y/N. it's wonderful"
and she'd have the biggest smile on her face, dimples on display and her ginger braids laying gracefully atop her shoulders
the most 'anne' thing anne has ever done in your relationship is trying to reinact poses from art pieces that she'd she in her books
"oh, Y/N they look just like us don't they?"
this activity was always filled with giggles and smiles, as anne would recite dramatic monologues to profess her undying love for her 'one and only Y/N'
she really was good at dramatics to be fair
i could go on and on, and to reiterate, there is never a boring moment
and never a moment where you feel unloved, or ignored as anne will do anything in her power to show you how much she cares for you
and once you get to college, things start to look up for you two
"no boys allowed in the dormrooms - and the curfew is 7pm"
you two gave eachother sly smiles as you set down your bags in your shared room
"of course, miss. we will make sure that no boys enter this household" anne would say as she held back a smile
you two burst into fits of laughter as soon as you were alone, collapsing on your bed together, hair intertwining and hands finding eachothers in mere moments
"i'm happy i met you, Y/N"
you blush, her words never failing to give you a fluttering feeling in your stomach
"i'm happy i met you, anne"

Diana and Jerry were done so dirty by the narrative... the deconstruction of the rich girl/ poor boy trope was fantastic until they had a bad break up with no follow up or consequences at all because the show got distracted by the main plot
