#book recs #i haven't finished the last one yet but it's been good so far! i really admire these women's resilience and solidarity #some inspiring stories of political activism + insight into aspects of korean history i didn't know about #i wanted to do a half-fiction half-nonfiction list like last year but i've read mostly disappointing fiction this year :( #my favourites were probably kivirähk's the man who spoke snakish & catherynne valente's radiance; though it wasn't as good as orphan tales #i'm reading jacques abeille's les jardins statuaires right now and it's quite frustrating because on the one hand #it's well-written and interesting with original worldbuilding. on the other i'm 300 pages in and there have been #2 female characters. the purpose of both (so far) was to have sex with the male protagonist and only 1 has a name #which makes the read feel less original and more ''same old shit as far as i'm concerned''

You know something? I really do not like the way Netflix and other streaming platforms automatically skip the credits. I don’t like how I only get a ten second window to say “yes” to seeing all the names of the people who put their lives and expertise into producing something that has entertained or educated me in some way.

The least they could do is make me fast forward, if I really don’t want to see them.

But generally speaking, for me? I want to see those names.

The “Michael and Lucifer are brothers” came other media having the two be twins. Especially the Netflix Lucifer tv show and the DC comics by Neil Gaiman that the tv show is based on.

I feel like everything can be traced back to Neil Gaiman in someway. Thank you Mr. Gaiman, for giving me more goofy but sad angels.

I haven't seen The TV show or the DC comics, but just the idea alone of these two being twins was enough to make me flesh out Michael's personality and the relationship between the two.

Just kidding : ) Michael wouldn't question Sera, he obeys orders with a morbidly unquestioning loyalty.

I imagine that Michael was the more responsible one, and would try to discourage Lucifer's ideas and dreams, but Lucifer tended to ignore him. Lucifer would cause some kind of havoc, and Michael would be the one to tell the angels. Luci 100% saw him as a buzzkill and a tattletale, and Michael knew his brother was a safety hazard with wings, but I think they still loved eachother.

Which is why it would both break them to have Michael be the one who battled Lucifer and forced him into Hell. Lucifer felt horribly betrayed, and Michael would have been trying to cope with the fact that he drove his own brother out.

I have many ideas for them, so little time to write :(

your use of names throughout your works is just sooo chef's kiss - I noticed that while you have the internal dialogue of Mav and Ice refer to themself/each other as Maverick/Ice and Mitchell/Kazansky for the majority of your fics, there are instances where they do call each other by their first names even before they 'talk about it'. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about the first time they called each other Pete/Tom? Any preceding events/emotions/conversations? Or did it just slip out?

i feel it's so fucking stupid and ungrateful but it still hurts a little when someone gifts me something i just don't like. i don't know. i know it's dumb and inaccurate to astrain that much meaning to a simple gift, but it feels kinda like they don't know me. i guess it feels like people don't see me, like a reminder that the person i reflect and the person i feel like are incredibly different.

One of my really self indulgent Naruto au is Tsunade still being Hokage while the Konoha 12 are young adults and Tsunade treats Karin and Naruto like her grandkids

And because so many of her loved ones have died and Tsunade has a bit of a complex about it, part of her treating those two like her actual grandkids is being hella overprotective of them (which both of them have no idea how to feel about that since no one was overprotective of them as kids)

Unfortunately I have no idea how canonically they’d treat each other as family, but my version of it for Karin and Naruto is that they call each other cousins and they’re protective of each other in different ways

Because this is my au: Naruto is genderfluid and actually a bit sad that he doesn’t have much connecting him to the Uzumaki clan, and Karin knows a lot about the Uzumaki clan

So Karin is protective of Naruto in that way older relatives can be, she sees Naruto as her sweet younger cousin who’s a bit too oblivious for his own good and obviously insecure about his lack of ties to the clan, so she’ll constantly tell Naruto how great he is at being an Uzumaki and is wary about who he befriends cause she doesn’t want people to take advantage of him

Naruto, meanwhile, is protective of her in a loud way, if anyone’s got a problem with Karin, they gotta go through Naruto first (also I like to imagine that Karin is still taller than Naruto, standing behind him while he’s like the “excuse me, she asked for fries!” meme)

Main thing I like to think about for this is people on the outside thinking that Karin would be struggling with finding her place, because Tsunade is kinda like the Uzumaki/Senju “head” of the family (which is just like,, 5 of them, I count Shizune and Iruka), and Naruto looks more like Tsunade, got her necklace passed down to him, has always been a part of the village, would probably be the next in line to be clan head, etc

But actually Naruto’s the one who’s super insecure about his place, with not knowing anything about the Uzumaki clan, looking a ton like his dad and not having the signature red hair, not having the chains, etc, and Karin is just constantly comforting him

Also, this is my own hc, but I think the Uzumaki clan would probably have more women than men in it and (if I’m not in a bad headspace where it sends me spiraling down my own dysphoria) that would be another thing Naruto would struggle with
