One thing that confuses me when people talk about Qi Rong is that they completely eliminate his origins.

Often people will reduce Qi Rong into a "spoiled prince" and ignore the fact he spent the first five years of his life in poverty.

Qi Rong clings to his privileges because he knows that at any moment they could be taken away. Qi Rong is only royal for as long as the king wills it. Or as long as the queen feels obligated to care for him.

Every time Qi Rong uses his privilege it's him confirming it's still there. Because if it isn't, he fears he'll become that little boy who starved and suffered again. People wonder where Qi Rong picked up his taste for flesh but look past the fact he lived his early childhood in the wastelands of Yong An!

Qi Rong confirms to us that he remembers his past, since he's been learning how to curse his father. A man he hasn't seen since he was five!

Plus, when the refugees of Yong An are all clicked out of the city, technically Qi Rong should have been expelled as well! As far as I can tell he still carries his father's name (Qi). Because he sure as hell is never called Xie Rong.

Her words as much a guise to escape being dragged into the political debate as much as it was to sate her own burgeoning curiosity about the boy who now purposefully walked beside her.

Jeanette is younger than Claudine, in the royal choir, and is about 10-12 years old.

She is a background character that I named and gave a background too.

At first Claudine would probably be - well, not wary, but unsure. She's never had another relative before.

Jeanette would also be unsure, because she's never had a cousin either. On her father's side, at least. She's rarely, if ever, heard her father mention his brother. All of a sudden she has a cousin, a girl who's older than her, who doesn't act like the older girls Jeanette knows but who rarely speaks to anyone, who flinches when spoken to and hides behind her hair, who has nightmares, who doesn't trust her, or indeed anyonw.

Jeanette's parents are going to have a little talk with her about how some parents, instead of caring for their kids, do the opposite....

Jeanette and Claudine probably only actually met and spoke to each other once Jehan wanted to meet his niece and brought his daughter along.

Is she at Auradon Prep? She must be, since she was in that choir, but if she's only ten or twelve, and Claudine's a teenager, Jeanette's about the same canon age as the Smee twins, so she and Claudine wouldn't be in any of the same classes or sleep in the same area. Another reason they didn't get to know each other at first.
