Eman's family is currently in danger!
Two weeks ago, the area to which Eman's family was displaced was bombed. As the war in Sudan rages, there is no where in the country they can go where they are safe. Eman's family has already lost their home, which was bombed while they were inside, martyring Eman's brother.
Due to the instability of Sudan's currency, the amount raised from this campaign so far is not nearly enough for them to leave Sudan. We have to raise more funds, and quickly.
Please support and share Eman's campaign. Let us help them urgently get to safety.

Today is FOP Awareness Day
It is a super rare medical condition I have.
Here is an 86 second video narrated by Stephen Fry to tell you all about it!
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a progressive condition that slowly turns muscle, ligaments and tissue into bone ‒ sending those who have it into a spiral towards complete immobility; as extra bone grows, locking joints and rendering movement near impossible.

Today is primary day in Pennsylvania!
Summer Lee was one of the first US elected officials to speak out against the genocide in Palestine and is one of our best, most progressive elected officials, on abortion, immigration, the environment, all that stuff you wish the government would be more active on.
As proven by the fact that in this Democratic primary, her challenger is backed by some billionaire Republican.
Tumblr media
If you're in Pennsylvania's 12 district or know someone who is, get out the vote!
Or else you'll be stuck with a faux Democrat who thinks the uncommitted movement should be condemned and will be very pro-Israel.

Guys, we did it!
I really didn't think we'd get even close to $2k in a week and was just planning to quietly donate my $2k on Saturday but you guys did it in TWO DAYS!
I've gone ahead and donated my matching:
Tumblr media
I've also edited the original post so that people might see my matching goal was already met, but of course people can continue donating, this was just my own personal matching target.
It might even be better to just donate a small but regular amount, I've heard that that's much better for things like abortion funds or so on, where there's an ongoing need and they need more sustainable funding than just the amounts that come in fits and bursts based on headlines. But of course you have to balance that against the urgency... and there are so many people and groups in need. Well, y'all pick what works for you.
You know, I'm just really marveling at people's generosity. :') I've been feeling pretty down for a while and they say the way to counter that is by actually doing something productive. I was already going to donate but I talked this over with my friend, how maybe it'd flop and make me feel even worse, but then I was like, even a dollar extra donated would be worth it. And look at us now. :)))))
Sudan still desperately needs aid--it needs a lot of things, but it is approaching a dangerous point with famine and mass death due to hunger imminent.
These are the kinds of headlines we're getting now:
Tumblr media
Here's an ongoing fundraiser:
I linked it before, to help with Ramadan, but it's an ongoing initiative, the need has not stopped.
I picked this gofundme because it's been boosted by people I trust and you can see pictures online of the food they've provided, e.g.:
Tumblr media
But I also picked this because you can see the amount of donations. It's 2pm ET on Saturday, April 20th right now? For the next week, whatever's donated, I'll match for a total up to $2,000 (we'll say 2,750 CAD, since the gofundme is in Canadian dollars).
You don't have to send me a receipt, I just ask that you donate and boost.
Edited on 2024-04-22:
We've met and passed the goal! Feel free to donate further, but I've gone ahead and donated the $2,750 matching already. :)))

We're doing so well! Since this was posted just yesterday, $528 (CAD 726) have been donated.

It's good to be aware of the college protests but the violence has not stopped in Palestine.
Mass graves keep being found by the besieged hospitals.
Tumblr media
Bombs are still dropping.
Tumblr media
And a Rafah ground invasion is imminent.
Tumblr media
These are all war crimes but who is paying attention?

While it's sad that this was necessary because of people like Shai, I really find this solidarity heartwarming.
Tumblr media
For months now, Columbia professor Shai Davidai has been harassing and doxxing his students, including those who've lost family in Palestine. He's recorded them, heckled their protests, mocked when they were attacked by chemical weapons by former IDF soldiers and had to go to the hospital. There have been 50 complaints about him, the Columbia president admitted.
Now, during the escalated Columbia protests, he's saying the National Guard should be brought in. Why? EVEN the NYPD admitted they've been completely peaceful. Seems odd when the biggest association with the National Guard and college war protests are the Kent State shootings.
Is there a single objection to this video that isn't rooted in Islamaphobia, racism, and xenophobia?
Tumblr media
Share what? What's so inherently alarming about this? Why incite more hate and possible violence against people praying?
Please sign this petition to remove him from a position where can continue to target students.
ETA: I forgot to mention, he called the organizers of these peaceful protests--including Ilhan Omar's daughter--to stop a genocide the Hitler Youth.

Venmo @ bcabolitioncollective
[Edit: don't donate anymore, they have enough, as per
Tumblr media
]
Incidentally, they also suspended Ilhan Omar's daughter.
Tumblr media
Edited on the morning of April 19th to no longer be rebloggable because of the venmo change above

Is anyone else following the Columbia protests? They've been going on all day under threat of suspension and even arrest.

I hope at some point people accept that Biden gives lip service to helping Palestine, like with a two-state solution or a ceasefire (actually a pause) or significant levels of aid, because Democrats expect some decency from their president, but he doesn't follow through.
Throughout this genocide, the US, through Biden, has not been a bystander but an active participant.

Seeing this kind of juxtaposition on my timeline...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
with
Tumblr media
makes me cold with anger and quite hopeless, tbh. That tone is not far off from what I see often, including on here. How are we supposed to trust that people like this are going to push Biden on Palestine?
If I were in part responsible for creating some of the most hellish circumstances for humans today I would not gloat about it? I would not scold those concerned about it? Like, yeah, sucks for you, Biden'll win and continue this genocide because he's ideologically committed to it and Dems sure don't care enough to stop it, especially post-election. Or, Biden'll lose and it'll be your fault for caring about a genocide and it'll still continue and everything else will get worse in a different number of ways.
Yeah, yeah. Great to be reminded of that.
