This is my first time- but uh it's quite interesting to know if the Yan! Turtles kidnapped an artist reader, and knows karate (reader always end up being 6 feet deep in the lair 💀) , the reader draws violent images of them hurting the Yan! Turtles as a warning if they did not let them go, the turtles did not pay attention to it and shrug if off, but reader manage to hurt one of the turtles badly (and luckily) and manage to escape (temporarily..)
Nothing just an interesting thought 🥲
Ignore it if you want to, I just wanna share it haha 🤡🧑‍🦯
Can't help but think of this 🤨
thanks for sending in an ask! I know how daunting it can be trying to send one to a blog, but its a step in a new direction and I appreciate that a lot :)
Although, them kidnapping an artist reader that would draw horrifyingly violent image of the turtles being harmed? Its kind of morbid of y/n but I honestly love it! But when they do put their ideas into reality, the turtles realize they have to stop messing around and take y/n's threats seriously. ( I imagine that the only reason they escaped the first time would be because the turtles underestimated y/n's abilities)
After they regroup and the hurt family member is fully healed, they start looking to recapture y/n. But this time, not only are they doing it out of sick, twisted love, they are also doing it out of malice and vengeance. Mostly from the turtle that y/n hurt badly. And depending on which turtle it is, Y/n is either completely fucked or will have tighter restrictions enforced onto them after their recapture.
It goes in this order: Donnie, Mikey, Raph, Leo.
Donnie would obviously be the saltiest about being taken out, and y/n basically rubs salt into his wound knowing that their plans of recapturing them will be postponed solely due to him being unable to help create gadgets and tranquilizer darts for some time. He's very tempted to return y/n the favour in full, unbridled rage.
Mikey threw a building at the Kraang. He might not do the same for y/n, but he considers it for a moment (as a joke). He's just annoyed at the fact that he has to deal with the painful healing process, as well as Raph trying to play 'good nurse' and 'concerned mom' towards him whilst he heals. Maybe a broken leg or two will help calm him down, and this time, he gets to play 'good nurse' and 'concerned mom' to them as payback!
Raph would hesitate about hurting y/n during the recapturing process, but if y/n is an especially cocky and taunting person, he'd get all riled up and might end up injuring y/n beyond recognition. Poor y/n, all messed up in the turtle's medbay with their attacker tending to every injury they have.
Leo is the easiest to convince out of his vengeance, which is surprising really. But he's smart. He knows that hurting y/n will only lengthen the Stockholm syndrome's process. Instead, He'd encourage the others to harm y/n (covertly of course) and whilst they cower away from their touch, he gets to swoop in and act as their 'safe space' instead!
okay this got so long, but It was kind of fun, so enjoy!

Hi! Could I get HC from the guys? 👀 How they would always react to catching the reader seeing them "badly", in addition to the fact that he usually avoids them, but with his brothers it is incredible and they feel bad because they think they do not like him.  But she actually likes them and she looks at them like that because she "studies" them to draw them and she is too clumsy and shy to talk to them, that's why she ends up avoiding them. Until finally he catches her drawing them with lots of hearts or maybe they'll find her notebook with lots of portraits of them.
It's kind of funny because when I study people to draw them, they think that I look at them with hatred xd maybe I should increase my glasses prescription
God, glasses are such a pain in the ass but I have to wear them. If I don't anyone within my near vicinity doesn't have a face. But why they gotta get dirty so easily???? Makes me wanna explode or something
TMNT Headcanons
The boys w/ a quiet reader who is fine with his brothers but acts cold around him and stares a lot
Tumblr media
Michaelangelo
mikey couldn't describe his disappointment upon realizing that you didn't want to be friends with him
well, you never actually said that to him
but he was pretty sure it was the case
you'd never made an effort to be friends with him
stared at him an awful lot though, but there was always something off about your gaze when you looked at him
like you were sizing him up, scrutinizing him, like he was an opponent
it kinda worried him
to add to that, you didn't even attempt to look embarrassed when he caught you staring
you'd just stare harder
on your end it was quite the opposite
you always found the brothers fascinating and you LOVED studying their anatomy, you'd confessed this to Donnie early on and he happily indulged in your questions
and you loved how easily you got along with the boys
well, except for Mikey
but it wasn't for a lack of trying
whenever the orange sporting turtle came around your normally flamboyant personality crept back into its little corner and hid
any words of excitement that had previously been with you died in your throat
for the longest time you didn't understand it
and you hated not understanding things, so you turned to your only outlet
that's how you ended up with an entire sketchbook full of the youngest brother in vastly different styles and poses
you had a separate book for the others, none of them as detailed as this
and when you stared to analyze you'd fallen into a habit of not looking away when caught
by your logic, if you stared back hard enough he'd look away first or just assume you'd zoned out
he didn't
and on one hectic day you'd left your sketchbook open on the kitchen table in your rush to get to work
you hadn't even noticed the slip up until Leo texted you to let you know during your shift
instant panic
in truth, Mikey was the one who discovered the book upon waking up from his nap and he'd spent the next three hours analyzing every drawing
when you finally dropped in after work to grab your book the turtle was waiting for you with it in hand
he'd asked you if you hated him
you told him no and accepted your sketchbook from him
he was relieved and screaming excitedly, just in his head
"Do you maybe wanna hang out sometime?"
You sighed in relief and nodded
"If you're cool with it- you don't think I'm weird do you?"
"I mean- you are talking to a turtle..."
you lightly shoved his chest and smiled, although it faded within a second
"Oh hush, 10 o'clock tomorrow? I'll bring snacks."
he was so stunned he could only shoot you finger guns in approval
Tumblr media
Donatello
Donnie genuinely couldn't understand your unease around him
he'd followed all the proper expectations of holding a conversation
he was polite and engaging
so why wouldn't you talk to him?
this boy has read so many social blogs to try and figure out what he was doing wrong and he just couldn't put his finger on it
you were fine with the rest of his brothers, you'd stay up for hours laughing and gaming with them
you'd even sat still long enough to listen to Leo explain some old Japanese myth that he'd read about in a book
but with him it was always a quick, cordial greetings and farewells with bland small talk in between
Donnie had picked up pretty quickly that you weren't interested in any sort of interaction with him
and he convinced himself that that was okay
but that didn't explain the staring
he'd caught you in the act several times, eyes narrowed and locked on him
especially when you were alone with him in a room or just in the lair
the poor turtle just couldn't put his finger on it
then he caught you drawing, he noticed early on that you always carried a small sketchbook on your person but he didn't think much of it
and it wasn't so much that he caught you drawing, in fact, he wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't snapped at him while he was trying to do a sudoku puzzle
"Damn it Donnie! Stop moving! If I fuck this arm up one more time I'm gonna decompose!"
he'd quickly moved back into the position he was in prior
"sorry?"
but you'd gone silent again, occasionally glancing up from your work and running your eyes along his frame before looking down again
nearly twenty minutes later Donnie had finished the puzzle and it seemed as though you had finished your drawing
"Uh- can I ask what are you-"
"I'm drawing you but you kept moving your arm and making me mess up. You always do that when I draw you so every damn picture I have of you stays a sketch because you always come out looking like a fucking octopus."
He just stared
"Sorry, I uh- I didn't mean to explode on you like that. I'm just- I'm really bad at talking to you okay? It's so easy with everyone else but you've just gotta be so damn smart all the time and I worry that you'll think I'm boring so I just... don't talk to you?"
Donnie is stunned™
You refuse to show him the drawing until you can complete the line art and color it
But at least he knows that you don't hate him
Tumblr media
Leonardo
To be completely honest Leo didn't mind that you were distant from him
You created an aura of calm when you were around and you always managed to distract his brothers while you were present
And he enjoyed the alone time
But after a few months that calm acceptance turned into jealousy
Not that he would ever admit it
He would just push it off and ignore it, that usually seemed to work
So why wasn't it?
And your obvious staring problem didn't help at all
Leo didn't spend much time considering his appearance but something about your gaze made him self conscious
And he hated that with a passion
Why was it that you could hold entire debates with his siblings? Even his dad for gods sake. You'd have hour long conversations on almost everything but whenever he tried to say hello you'd make up some lame ass excuse and scamper away
He just wanted an explanation
It appeared that the answer resided in your sketchbook
You'd left it open on the couch when Raph had called you away to spar with him
Leo very delicately flipped through the pages, careful not to disturb some of the polaroid pictures of his brothers
He was admittedly surprised to find pictures of himself among the pages
One of him in a handstand, another of him meditating, there was even one of him mid sneeze that you'd recreated with pencil and paper
The image of his eyes was the most startling, but the book held no polaroid of his eyes
You drew them from memory
And he was shocked when you returned to the room and didn't immediately panic
But that might have been because he didn't try to withhold your book from you
"It took me three months to color them, your eyes. I could never get the shade of blue just right."
"I'm gonna be honest with you y/n, I really thought you didn't like me."
You had the nerve to roll your eyes and follow it with a laugh
"I don't. I mean- I do but no, you just remind me a lot of myself and I haven't exactly figured out why yet. I thought that maybe if I drew you it'd be easier to figure you out..."
"Well did it help?"
You grinned
"I'm talking to you, aren't I?"
Tumblr media
Raphael
If there was one thing Raph hated it was not understanding something that was right in front of him
which is ironic, as a much younger version of himself probably couldn't care less
and a part of him wishes he didn't care about it so much
he wishes that your blatant avoidance of him didn't upset him
but shit, it got under his skin better than any needle ever could
was it too much to ask for you to just tell him what he said or did wrong?
was he asking too much of you?
but on the same scale you'd never shown obvious dislike towards him, you were never rude and you sure as hell didn't talk shit about him to his brothers
you got along great with them
in fact it was getting more difficult to remember a time before you became a part of his family
he'd become so used to your presence that it no longer put him off when he found you hanging around the lair
but in another sense he was certain that you hadn't spoken more than three sentences to him in your time knowing him or his family
so what was the reason
several months in he finally caught onto the staring, your narrow, glassy gaze locked onto his body and refusing to look away
he stared right back at you
this annoyed you for several reasons
because within five seconds your very peaceful drawing session had turned into a staring contest and your eyes were getting VERY dry
then you exhaled in a half-sigh and looked back down at your paper
"Huh, I guess your head is more of an oblong shape..."
he took offense to this
"What tha' hell is that supposed t'mean?"
now your eyes held more of an amused silent judgement, you begrudgingly held up your sketchbook
"I'm drawing you, you fucking walnut."
"Oh..."
now you rolled you eyes and tossed the book to him, he nearly dropped it and fumbled with the pages
your annoyance was quickly growing
"Careful with that."
He flipped through the pages at a snails pace, assumingly because he couldn't quite believe what he was seeing
you had some real talent
when he looked back up at you he was wearing that crooked smile
"and here I was thinkin' that my eyes were just green."
Hope I was able to get this down pretty well! I really enjoyed writing this one! Thanks for the patience!

Vulnerable [chapt. 1/2]
[2012 Leo x reader]
Based off of a request from an Anon: "A reader who is good at archery?" and the art is in fact mine, signature in the corner.
Tumblr media
Leonardo grimaced as he walked. On his bad leg he still limped a bit, but he no longer was so dependent on his crutches. Every step was a twinge of pain in his knee, but he continued, bow in hand and looking for prey. The rest of the team was back at the farmhouse—he wanted to do this alone. He needed to do something. For himself and everyone else.
He crept along the forest floor, senses hyper-aware of all of the things around him, as with his injured leg, he felt vulnerable. He jumped when a bird shot out of a tree nearby with another one hot on its tail feathers. When had he become so easy to start? Of course, as a ninja, he was trained to be skeptical. Aware. But he'd never felt so jumpy as he did after coming out of his coma, his throat wrecked and his knee in just as bad a condition. He took in a deep breath, then released it. Focus.
He definitely felt like he was being watched. He was in a sea of trees and bush, wandering and out of his element, having come from the city. It was such a jarring change to have been struck down in a construction site on that frightening day, only to wake up three months later in a quaint farmhouse outside of New York City. His stomach churned slightly recalling what he could remember from his encounter with the Shredder and the wave after wave of Foot Bots. The cold rain, and their mortal enemy's imposing figure stood above him before going in for the kill. He shook himself of those thoughts—not now. Today was sunny. He had to look around him for a second as if to assure that there was light shrouding everything. That there were no shadows to hide in. Shifting his footing, his knee suddenly jerked forward and sent a shot up pain up his leg. He had to resist making noise, but in that moment, a shudder ran down his spine. The sheer pain, he remembered, of the Shredder's blades catching his neck. The trauma to his knee. He didn't know when he'd started breathing heavily, still and partially leaning on his bow. When would he ever be able to recall that day without it shaking him so deeply? Would the memories hit him during his next and inevitable meeting with Shredder?
But he couldn't think about that now, not as he heard rustling in the brush ahead of him. He stilled. Crouching, he took to the large trunk of an oak and hid behind it, peering around the corner to catch a glimpse of what he was hearing. It sounded big; likely a deer. As long as he didn't engage with a buck and his fearsome rack of antlers, he would be okay. His knee ached as he kneeled there. No sudden movements, he reminded himself.
He looked around the side of the tree and saw it. A tall, proud buck and his air of regality, eating from a plant and seemingly unaware of Leo's presence. This was his chance to make himself useful. To stick it to his cursed leg that he wouldn't let it stop him.
Rising as slowly and quietly as he could, he lifted his bow and drew an arrow. He had to find the perfect moment. But he also couldn't wait too long, otherwise he would lose the animal. The buck paused his meal and looked up, smelling the air. He ducked back behind the tree when it actually turned its head toward him, almost as if in acknowledgement. But deer's eyes didn't face forwards—if it were looking for a threat, it would have turned its head. Ignoring that detail, Leo knew it would get his scent quickly, so there was not much time to waste as he aimed, shooting for something vital. The buck stiffened, readying to bound off. He was just about to let loose the arrow when he blinked, and suddenly, there was nothing. The buck was gone, the clearing was empty, and he was extremely confused. He stood up, letting down his bow as he stepped out from behind the tree and looked around him. It had been there one moment, gone the next.
He jolted when a twig snapped behind him. He spun around, arrow ready to fire. Standing only but a few feet away was the large creature looking down at him, and in his surprise, Leo hesitated. He wasn't sure what to do beside lower his weapon, eyes fixated on the impressive antlers the buck donned. Those could deliver a fierce blow.
He was backing away, opting to ditch the effort and try again another time, because the animal was certainly strong. And not with his bad leg could he defend himself as much as he would have liked—but unnaturally fast, the buck charged forward anyway. Heart pumping, Leo gasped and drew his arrow, trying to get a clear shot on the animal as it vanished around him, disappearing behind trees, reappearing elsewhere, running at him from every which way. He let out a loud grunt when he was struck in the abdomen by it, disoriented and trying to gain his footing. He tried to dodge the oncoming attack, but his knee buckled, and he fell to the ground against the mossy trunk of a massive tree. His bow was dropped elsewhere. In a last resort, he swiped his knife from his belt, eyes flitting about. He expected another blow from the strange animal, but nothing came. He was left in shock sitting there as he regained his composure, only noticing the buck out of the corner of his eye one last time.
He watched it, brow ridge furrowed intensely as he got up and snatched his bow from the ground. The buck only stared back, his reaching presence making an imprint in Leo's mind. He knew then that there was something else to this. He had no idea, not even a clue, of where to start with it. But the creature sauntered further into the trees, disappearing into the thicket.
"What was that?" he muttered to himself, unable to look away from where he'd last seen it.
He returned to the farmhouse later that night, meeting you at the front porch when he dragged himself up there. His knee was irritated to all hell from the exertion, and you could tell, too; he favored his good leg when he stepped, wincing as he came over. It was then that you noticed he looked a little more rough than you'd originally thought.
"Leo?" you said, meeting him at the stairs. He tried to give you a smile, but it was obvious he was absolutely beat, his leg was hurting, and overall, not in a good way. "Are you okay? What happened out there?"
You helped him up the steps with an arm around him, supporting his heavy weight as he made his way into the house. He groaned, a little shameful, "I got attacked by a...deer."
He left his bow and quiver at the door. A deer? You gave him a questioning look, and he continued, "Yeah, a deer. Like with the antlers. It came at me when it realized I was there. I've never seen something move so fast."
You were going to help him to the couch, but he shrugged your arm off with a sheepish smile, getting there himself. You sat down next to him. "So, an angry buck?" you asked. He nodded. "Weird...it's not mating season. Usually, they aren't so aggressive."
"Well, this one was," he said, "and I know this is going to sound weird, but…"
He knew it would be hard to explain why he suspected this was something otherworldly, due to the teleporting. He'd seen it clearly with his own two eyes. Still, it was just as confusing to him to think about as it would have been for you to hear.
"Wait, how do you know that?" he inquired. He looked over at you, blue eyes falling on yours.
You chuckled, "My dad was into hunting, so I picked up some stuff as a kid. You learn that pretty early on; the antlers on those things can really tear you up. Though...you're lucky for having natural armor." Gesturing toward his bow and arrow, you bumped his shoulder with your own. "I'd say I'm good with one of those."
Leo quirked his brow, curious for you to go on. He didn't doubt your statement one bit; he'd seen how you watched him practice, how sometimes, he'd catch you idly running your hand along the curves of the bow. "How good would you say you are?"
Grinning, you padded across the room and got his bow, drawing back the string experimentally. It had been a while. You threw a glance back at him over your shoulder. "Fairly," you replied, setting it down. "I think my parents started me out when I was twelve or so. With one of those kiddie bows, the ones that are easy to pull back? I'm no master, but maybe...I could come out and help you next time? I don't think any of us should be going out alone, anyway, especially you with your…"
He noticed your eyes had fallen on his injured leg.
"Uh, hold on. I'm not an invalid, [y/n]."
He didn't want to be snappish, but the last part irked him a little. He could handle himself out there. How well he could was a different story, but nonetheless, he felt weirdly infantile hearing that. It should have been him telling you that and offering to help, not the other way around.
Damn his leg.
Still, he knew he had to swallow his pride, for now. He really was in no shape to be wandering the woods on his own. He also noticed that it was a great opportunity to bond with you more without everyone around to overanalyze it.
"You know, I...I appreciate it. I know you're just trying to help." He tried to hide the disappointment he was feeling with himself, but it was easily replaced by more positive prospects. He hadn't ever spent that much time with you alone, as they were always going, going, going. The farmhouse and surrounding woods was a slow change of pace—a good change of pace. But even then, he still couldn't always get away from everyone else, especially Mikey and Casey. "What do you say we go out tomorrow?"
You nodded, "I say it's a date!"
"Y–yeah," He laughed, looking down at the floor. "It's a...yeah. I'm going to go to bed now. Goodnight, [y/n]."
"Night," you said as he headed up the stairs.
Mind on the kitchen for a drink before you went to bed yourself, you were slightly surprised to see April there, leaning against the counter with a curious smile on her face. "Oh, hey, April," you mumbled, reaching past her for a glass.
"Hey," she cooed, "so, a date, huh?" A knowing grin crossed her face, along with that twinkle in her eye she got any time something like this came up.
Face beginning to flush, you chuckled awkwardly as you filled up your glass from the tap. "Uh, it's more like a...it's not really a date. I just said that. For some reason. We're gonna go out into the woods and scope it out for a little bit." You glanced out of the corner of your eye and saw her sat at the kitchen table, patting the chair next to her. A date? Like that? No. In fact, he was likely offended to some degree that you even proposed helping him out. Not with how sensitive he was about his knee, lately, which was a hindrance to him. But you wanted to help, that's what friends were for. And maybe spending some time away from the antics of his brothers and Casey wasn't such a bad idea, either…
You were going to slip out of the kitchen, but April was set on getting the details. "Come on, girl talk!" she said, low enough so no one else would hear, but you could hear the excitement in her voice. "Did he get embarrassed? Oh, what about bringing lunch? Like a picnic, in the woods," she suggested, clasping her hands. "Quiet, away from you-know-who. It would be nice!"
"Okay, okay, slow down there," you said. You took a seat next to her and looked behind you into the living room to make sure there wasn't anyone there, then added, "You see, I don't know for sure…"
...if Leo felt the same way. There was a hunch, but that wouldn't do—you couldn't go off of a mere inkling, lest you ruin good friendship turning things weird. You liked him. How obvious it was, you didn't know, but you never tried to show it on purpose.
April noticed the uncertainty of your expression and put her hand on yours in your lap. She could feel your hesitance over the subject. "You're worried that he doesn't feel the same way about you," she stated softly. "Is that it?"
"In short," you answered with a small shrug as you kept your gaze on the edge of the table.
She tilted her head in thought, humming to herself. "Well, I think you should go for it, if that's how you feel."
Looking up at her, you inquired, "What if it makes things awkward between us?" That was the last thing you wanted.
"I think Leo might have a crush on you," she said finally. "Of course, I can't tell you definitely, but...it's just the vibe he gives me."
Your heart fluttered. April's intuition had always seemed pretty on point; you trusted her judgement more often than not. The question was, did you have the guts to come out with it to him, or would it be another time gone past? Hung up on her words, you blinked. "Do you think so?" you asked honestly.
She nodded and gave a reassuring smile. "I won't pressure you, but I still think you'll have a great time. I can put together a basket, if you want. We don't have much besides sandwiches, though." April was considerate. It was easy to feel comfortable around her; she was a gentle soul outside of combat, and supportive of yours and everyone else's pursuits (so long as they weren't harmful.) Especially pursuits of love, when they weren't directed at herself.
You thanked her as you got up, to which she replied that it was no problem. Leo's door was cracked slightly open, you'd found out when you passed by, and inside he was fast asleep. he tended to leave it ajar out of habit; he felt that he needed to be able to hear what was going on in the rest of the house in case something happened, paranoid of ambushes. The only time he wasn't conscious of his bad leg was when he was unconscious, and even then, you had a suspicion that he dreamed about it sometimes. Maybe even had nightmares. You recalled seeing him toss and turn one night while muttering incoherent things after he'd fallen asleep on the couch in the lounge, almost rolling off the side before you decided to wake him. Both the mental and physical wound was fresh at that time, so he panicked himself awake feeling your hand lightly shake his shoulder. He apologized as you tried to help him, instead taking his crutches and left by himself.
But Leo seemed to be having good dreams, tonight. You stopped just for a moment to watch him through the ajar door, seeing that his face was not tense, he wasn't moving around, and looked to be more at peace than he had in a while. That was all you needed to know.
"He looks pretty calm right now," a voice, Raph's, commented out from the blue next to you. He was leaned against the wall, arms crossed as he watched his sleeping brother. "Last few nights were rough. Wonder what has him all peaceful all of a sudden."
You couldn't mistake Raph's unusually soft disposition, even if he talked as gruffly as always. "Does he have bad dreams about it often?" you questioned him. Both of you knew what you were talking about, the event in New York City that landed them all at the farmhouse to begin with.
Sighing, he answered with a light scoff, "More like nightmares." For a second, you thought he was annoyed by you asking, but he continued, shaking his head. "This just…I can't stand seein' him like this. Not like this, this, but on those nights he gets nightmares, and the hobbling around…"
"It really sucks."
"Big time."
A silence fell between the two of you, but it wasn't uncomfortable. You both bonding over your mutual care for Leo and his well-being, brought together by circumstance. Raph went to bed. You did, too, thinking all the way that Leo deserved a good day. A normal-as-could-be day.
You'd take April up on that picnic idea, you decided.

Michelangelo x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Soulmates
Mikey has always been one of my favorites and I feel like he always gets the least amount of love from the fandom. The turtles and reader are 18+ cause that's what I do.
Warnings: brief mention of abuse.
Mikey had been in love with the idea of a soulmate since he could remember. A person made by the universe that will love you the best. For a turtle mutant that lived in the sewers it was the ultimate fantasy. However, Master Splinter had told them it was very unlikely that they would have any. They weren't human after all. Still Mikey held on to hope and dreamed for the day that he might meet his one and only. He was straight as far as he could tell so he went out of his way to watch any video he could find about ladies. He would be the perfect boyfriend. He learned about periods and makeup and watched hair tutorials. He even found a wig and after cleaning it up the best he could he would practice braiding on it. Mikey had also watched videos about the female body, more than just porn, he watched women talk about sex and listened as they complained about human dudes. He couldn't exactly practice, but he would try to prepare best as he could. He would make up for being a mutant by knowing more and being better than any human man.
He was doing a cool down after a pretty intense training session with Leo.
“You did good Mikey, but you can't celebrate after every hit. You lose concentration and will get hurt.” Leo said stretching off to the side.
“Yeah bro you got a pretty good hit on me at the end.” he opened his mouth to stretch his now sore jaw. “Hey leo we’ll be 20 soon right?
“Mikey not this again.” Leo stopped and walked over to his younger brother. “We’ve talked about this, there is almost no chance of any of us having a soulmate.”
“You don’t know that Leo. Donnie doesn’t even know! I don't wanna give up hope.” It was the same argument that they had been having for years and years. His brothers had all seemed to give up on the idea, but Mikey wouldn't.
Mikey counted down the days until their birthday. After meeting April they finally found out their real birthdays from her father's notes. They all hatched on the same day, but at different times. Donnie actually turned out to be the oldest than Raph, Leo, and finally Mikey. He had been hoping that he would turn out to be the oldest but it was meant to be he guessed.
Mikey shot up and looked down at his arm excitedly, but didn't see anything. He wasn't worried though, the day was still young! He grabbed a black sharpie and wrote a simple ‘Hi angel’ on his forearm. He checked it throughout the day but still nothing. His brothers didn't even bother writing anything.
Everyday he would write a message or draw a picture hoping that his soulmate would see it. After 2 months he started to get sad. His dad was the first to take notice, and suggested that Mikey meditate. After an hour with no luck in concentrating, Mikey was about to stop when Splinter sat across from him.
“My soulmate hasn't written me back.” He said, “Maybe you guys have been right all along.”
“I would not worry yet my son. It is possible that your soulmate is younger than you, should you have one.” Splinter reached over to pat Mikey’s knee, “I have always been hopeful that you boys would have one, but I do not want you to be disappointed.”
“Don’t worry about me pops! You know me nothing gets me down!” Mikey cheered and jumped up. He ran out of the dojo throwing a thank you over his shoulder.
Splinter did know his youngest. He was happy and enjoyed having fun, but he was also sensitive. He always had been, and out of all of his sons he worried the most about Mikey and what it would do to him if he didn't have a soulmate. He sighed and decided it would be best to meditate as well. It had always been very helpful to him.
But months passed and soon a year did too and he never heard from his soulmate. Some days it was harder to write his morning message, but he still tried. He didn't want his soulmate to wake up on her 20th birthday with no message. As far as he knew his brothers never even tried to write theirs. Mikey knew they were just afraid of the possibility that they really didn't have one. He was too. He really wanted a soulmate.
It had been a busy 2 weeks. They met a girl, who also happened to be the first human they met, they totally kicked Foot Clan ass, uncovered a super villain plot and saved the city. They truly were heroes now and that was really fucking cool. They had made a new friend in a woman named April. She was pretty and nice and didn't seem to mind the fact that they were giant turtles, after the initial shock of course. He didn't even realize he hadn't written anything on his arm during all of this. He sat in bed and stared down at himself. He didn't write anything for 2 weeks and nothing had changed. There was a painful uncomfortable feeling in his chest as he looked at his arm trying to manifest words there somehow. Nothing had changed. The world didn't end because he didn't write anything. He sighed and laid down; he looked over at the black marker he kept by his bed. He started to reach out for it but instead rolled over and tried to go to sleep.
It had been 3 months now since he had written something on his arm. He tried not to think about it, sometimes he felt a tickle there but whenever he checked there was nothing. His mind was just playing with him. The brothers were on patrol tonight and Mikey was trying not to get distracted but it was one of those days he couldn't help but think about his soulmate. Leo and Raph had already got on to him about it tonight. He realized he should have tried harder when his jump to the next roof fell short and he went crashing down to the fire escape below.
“Mikey!” His brother yelled and came rushing down to see if he was alright.
“Im good dudes,” he grunted and he started to get up. “That hurt though.”
“Are you okay?” The boys jumped and turned and sitting on the steps a couple feet from them was a girl. “Ummmm, hi.”
“Hey” was all the boys could say. She nodded and looked at them, and there were a couple of moments where they all just stared at each other.
“So, i'm gonna take a wild guess here and say this isn't normal for New York?” she said and then pursed her lips.
“No it's not.” Raph grunted at her.
“Did you think that it was?” Donnie questioned. She shrugged at them.
“I'm not from here and it seems like wild things always happen in New York.” The girl defended. Mikey stared at her. She was pretty and was wearing shorts and a large t-shirt that was covered in dried paint. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun and she had bangs that covered her forehead. She was holding a cup in both hands and looking at them. She didn't seem frightened at all.
“Should I be freaking out?” the pretty girl asked.
“No! You don't need to be afraid of us.” Mikey suddenly forgot about any pain or soreness from his fall and stood up the rest of the way and moved in front of his brothers. “I’m Michelangelo, but everyone calls me Mikey.”
“I heard your name.” She giggled at him but then looked him in the eyes. “You are okay right? That seemed like quite the fall.” the turtle smiled widely and did a spin in the tight space.
“Right as rain baby.”
“Oh so you suddenly don't hurt?” Leo said, crossing his arms.
“The voice of an angel healed me I guess.” Mikey said and gave the girl a wink who raised an eyebrow at him.
“Sure it did, lover boy.” Raph said and then smacked the back of Mikey's head who yelped out.
“Not cool bro.” he groaned. “Whats your name angelcakes?” the girl let out a gasp.
“How did you know my name?” she said with surprise. The boys blinked at her dumbly.
“Seriously?” Donnie asked.
“No, my name is (y/n).” She laughed. “What are your names?”
“Oh these are my brothers Donnie, Leo, and Raph!” He motioned at each one and she gave a small wave as he did.
“You’re really not scared?” Donnie asked her quietly.
“A little shocked but not scared.” (Y/n) said happily.
The boys sat and talked to her for a little bit but Leo reminded them that they had a job to do. So with an invitation for them to come back and hang out again they boys parted with their newest friend to continue patrol. When they got back to the lair Mikey felt like he was on cloud nine. She was pretty, nice, and had a great smile. Mikey sat and smiled thinking about (y/n) when his eyes caught sight of a little black marker. He frowned. He wanted to find his soulmate, he really did, but now he didn't want to write anything cause what if it wasn't her. He really wanted it to be her.
“I think I’m in love~” he sighed.
“Sure you are Mike.” Leo grunted. “Go to sleep, it was a long night.”
Mikey sighed and rolled onto his side. He looked at the marker and felt guilty for some reason. He closed his eyes and went to sleep.
Life was good the boys went over to (y/n)’s apartment about once a week and April would come down to the lair to visit them about the same amount. A couple of months after they met they introduced the girls and they got along really well. Mikey sat April down and told her that he was sorry but his heart now belonged to (y/n). She smiled at him and patted his shoulder and told him that she forgave him and even though it would be hard she would heal. His brothers laughed but he ignored it.
April was working and the boys were at (y/n)’s place. They had eaten pizza and were talking about whatever came to mind.
“Do you guys have soulmates?” (Y/n) asked rather suddenly.
“Well we actually don't know, but we think it's very unlikely that we will.” Donnie replied.
“Oh. I hope you do.” she said. Mikey felt nervous as he asked his question.
“Do you have one?” she looked over at him.
“Not yet, but I hope I do. I’ve written on my arm every day since I turned 20 6 months ago.” she said, pulling her legs up to sit criss cross on the couch.
“We missed your birthday?” Leo asked.
“It was like a month before we met.” she shrugged.
“I can't believe I missed my true-love's birthday!” Mikey exclaimed and threw his arms around her shoulders and pulled her into him.
“You're squishing me!” She pushed away from the orange clad turtle laughing. “Do you guys want soulmates?” the boys quieted, and fidgeted awkwardly.
“I mean yeah but what's the point? Looks at us! We’re freaks.” Raph called out before crossing his arms.
“But soulmates are made for you! The universe wouldn't have given us someone who is scared of us!” Mikey defended. It was a conversation that had been had many times.
“Actually I'm not sure about that.” (y/n) said. Four pairs of eyes turned towards her.
“What do you mean?” Donnie asked.
“Well my parents were soulmates and my dad used to beat my mom senseless until he was arrested and they divorced when I was 8. They were soulmates but he used to hurt her so much.” (y/n) looked down at her hands. “It took her awhile to realize that just because the universe made you soulmates didn’t mean you were meant to be.”
“What happened after that?” Leo almost whispered the question.
“Well she met my step dad who is a great guy. His soulmate isnt the romantic type so they just ended up being close friends, and then he met my mom. They fell in love and he became my step-dad. You don't need to be soulmates to love each other, sometimes soulmates are just platonic, and sometimes soulmates aren’t good for eachother.”
“I’m sorry.” Mikey said softly.
“Don't be! Everyone is happy now. I mean, I don't know about my dad. He's never tried to reach back out. I kinda don't want him to anway.” (y/n) looked back up at the turtles.
“So you must hate the idea of soulmates.” Raph suggested.
“When did I say that? I want a soulmate, I really do. I want that fairy tale happily ever after people always talk about.” She sighed and smiled. “That's why I write my soulmate everyday. I had wished that they would be older than me but I guess they are a bit younger. I just hope that when I'm 42 I don't suddenly get writing from my soulmate who just turned 20.” She laughed.
“That can happen?” she looked over at Donnie and nodded.
“You guys don't know that?” the boys, except for Mikey, nodded.
“We never thought we would have them, so beyond movies I don't think any of us really looked. Didn’t want false hope.” Leo looked at her.
“Well I did cause I’ve always wanted a soulmate!” Mikey interjected.
“Mikey used to write on his arm every single day but hasn't in months.” Raph told her.
“Hey how do you know that?” Mikey looked at him.
“You think we didn't notice? We just never brought it up cause we know how you are.” Leo mumbled. The youngest turtle pouted at this.
“Why did you stop?” (y/n) asked. Mikey sighed and leaned his head back.
“It just kinda felt pointless. I would write something every day and nothing ever happened and then I realized one day that I hadn’t written anything for 2 weeks and still nothing changed. It just kinda felt pointless lately.” Mikey told everyone. There were flashes of sadness or pity from his brothers. They always knew the day would come when Mikey realized that none of them had soulmates. They knew it would come, but they didn't want it too.
“Well thats dumb.” (y/n) said rather bluntly. “What if today is her birthday and she's waiting to see if her soulmate will write anything. There were girls in my highschool that swore that they wouldn't write first and that their soulmate had to be the one to write first.” She said, leaning into Mikey.
“Well I think thats kinda dumb.” Mikey pouted at her. She rolled her eyes and leaned forward grabbing a cup of markers.
“Here write something!” she said, giving him the cup. He grabbed a black marker and opened it.
“Fine. Anything for you angelcakes.” he blew a kiss at her and looked at his arm. He felt a weird tightness when he brought the marker to his skin. He decided to write a simple ‘Hi I’m Mikey. What's your name.’
(Y/n) shivered as he started to write and felt a tickle on her arm. She gasped and pulled up her sleeve. The brothers' eyes widened as they watched Mikey’s hand writing appear on her arm next to the old writing that she had done. Mikey did not notice.
“Mikey! Look!” The oldest turtle said pointing at (y/n). Mikey looked up at Donnie and then at (y/n)’s arm.
“Oh haha very funny. That's not really nice.” He rolled his eyes.
“What Mikey? It's not a joke!” She put her arm right next to his and told him to keep writing. He drew a squiggle and watched as it seemed to magically appear on his friend's arm.
“What? Dude! Thats awesome!” Mikey cried out. This was the best thing in the world! His angelcakes was his soulmate!
“Why haven't you written me back?” She asked slightly outraged. Mikey stopped and stared at her.
“Cause I haven’t gotten any writing.” Mikey said, remembering how she said she wrote to her soulmate everyday. The room fell quiet and Mikey felt the beginnings of a horrible pain in his heart.
“So I’m yours, but you're not…” She trailed off feeling a sudden wave of emotion and felt tears in her eyes.
“Um sorry to interrupt, but I don't think there's any reason to get upset.” Donnie started. He grabbed the marker that matched the writing she already had on her arm. “Try writing something (y/n).” She nodded quietly as a few tears fell. She opened the cap and wrote hello. Mikey felt a tickle and shivered at the phantom writing on his arm, but he looked down and there was nothing there.
“Nothing” Mikey whispered. He felt like the world was crashing down. A moment so happy followed by something so heartbreaking. Raph and Leo looked down and away. Their faces filled with sorrow for their brother, and for the hope they had just felt for themselves.
“Now hold on just a moment.” Donnie rolled his eyes. “(Y/n) why do you write in that color?”
“It's my favorite.” she sniffled.
“Do you always write in green?” He pressed.
“Yeah, like I said it's my favorite and I want my soulmate to know that. I feel like it makes it a little more personal.” (y/n) continued. Donnie leaned forward and grabbed her marker. Everyone watched as he took the marker and held it up to mikey.
“Everyone look.” They all looked and Mikey’s eyes widened.
“It's the same color as me.” he mumbled.
“(Y/n) please try again with black.” She quickly snatched up the black marker and wrote ‘I hope this is Mikey.’
“Donnie you're a genius!” Mikey tackled his brother and then quickly went back to the couch thrusting his arm at (y/n). “Do it again!”
She quickly drew a heart while staring at his arm and watched as the black lines began to appear on Mikey as she drew them. She practically threw herself at mikey wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his face.
“Woah. I think that we should probably leave.” Leo suggested as his two other brothers got up and followed him to the window.
“Thank you Donnie!” (y/n) shouted out. Donnie gave a thumbs up and went out the window and closed it behind him.
“I can’t believe we’ve known each other for 5 months without finding out!” Mikey said nuzzling her face and wiping whatever tears were still there.
“I can't believe I never thought to write in black!” She laughed and kissed his cheek.
“Wait!” He leaned back. “The turtle thing doesn't bother you? Really? Truly?”
“Of course not! I’ve had a big crush on you for like 2 months now! This is the best news ever!” his soulmate cheered. “Also I just kissed you like 10 times.”
Mikey laughed and held her close, kissing her cheek. He had a soulmate! His soulmate was a beautiful, funny, nice girl who liked him!
“I knew there was a reason I’ve always loved green.” She said with a smile and leaned in to kiss mikey’s lips. It was a nice sweet kiss and just what he always thought a first kiss should be, yet so much better. He sighed and relaxed against the couch with (y/n) in his arms.
He had a soulmate and things couldn't be better.

Terrified: Part 5
Raph x Reader
Synopsis: Raph saves you from ruffians one night in an alley after watching out for you for weeks without you knowing. Which leads you to getting to know the guys and becoming part of the family. But Raph keeps a distance and you don’t understand why.
Word Count: 1993
Warnings: I’m sorry. Also, I accidently switched back to 3rd person for the readers pov at the end of this. Oh, and some violence. Ummm....I have no idea what happened. I had no control, I swear.
Tumblr media
I stormed out of Donnie’s lab to find Leo. He was considered a leader, maybe he would understand. Maybe he would get my hints. Or maybe I could convince him it was a waste of their time to see me home. Maybe-
“Oomph.”
“Whoa there, Y/n,” he set his hands on my shoulders, steadying me. I looked up through teary, frustrated eyes to find the very brother I had been looking for and launched, wrapping my arms around his neck as the tears silently flowed. He continued to hold me, rubbing gentle circles on my back as he cooed about how everything was going to be okay before I finally loosened my hold. He kept me in a loose embrace, looking down at me with worried eyes like any big brother would. I had always felt that brotherly pull toward all of them, except Raph; who made me feel warm and embarrassed and safe and frustrated.
“S-sorry,” I sniffled, rubbing the tears off my damp cheeks as my sight fell to our surroundings. Anything but him.
“Hey,” he leaned down to my eye level, shaking me gently to grab my attention. “Hey hey hey. There’s no need for apologies. Why don’t you tell me what happened so I can pummel who did this to you. Was it Raph?”
“Wha- Raph- Why?” I shook my head and met his ocean blues with a determined gaze. “That doesn’t matter- I think you guys should stop following me home-”
“Wha-”
“It’s not worth your time-”
“That’s not-”
“All of you have better things to do than make sure I get home safe-”
“Y/n,” Leo demanded my attention once more. “What brought this on? We want to make sure you get home safe. It’s not any trouble or a waste of time. We would do anything for you.”
“But-”
“You mean everything to-” He cleared his throat and towered above me, shifting on his feet. “Uh… to us. You’re like a sister to us. And we don’t let anybody hurt family.”
“Oh,” I breathed out, not feeling quite so burdensome. “Then maybe don’t force Raph to-”
“Raph? He’s the one who-”
“Yo! Dudette!” Mikey called from the couch just on the other side of the room. “When are we gonna race!?”
“Coming!” I answered with a tight laugh before looking back up at Leo. “Are my eyes red? You think anyone will notice?”
“No,” Leo smiled down at me. “Especially not Mikey.”
“Good,” I tiptoed up to peck his cheek with a quick thanks and skipped off to the couch, spirits lifted.
~~~~~~~~~~
Leo found Raph sitting against a wall in the darkened dojo, looking dejected.
“She asked for us to stop accompanying her home,” Leo told him, voice quiet in hopes of not upsetting his brother.
Silence reigned, so he tried again as he sat next to Raph.
“She thinks we have better things to do than keep her safe.”
“Fine,” Raph sounded rough, defeated, hopeless.
“It’s not fine, Raph. She thinks she’s a burden,” Leo dragged his brother off the cold floor and slammed him against the wall.
“I heard ya, Fearless,” Raph growled out, shoving Leo out of his space. “Just like I heard her beggin ya not to force me-” he choked out.
So this was your problem. Nobody got to you in the subway, except yourself. You didn’t want him and his brothers watching out for you anymore. You thought you weren’t worth their time- his time. Worst of all, he was the one that made you feel this way. Somehow he made you think you weren’t worth his time. That you weren’t good enough for him.
“You have to change her mind, brother,” Leo stated, calmer than he felt.
“Me?” Raph’s eyes bulged, incredulous. “No- I- I can’t. I’ll just mess it up. She already thinks- Just tell her I won’t follow her home if she doesn’t want me to,” he trailed quietly in the end.
“I’m not your messenger,” Leo ground out menacingly, getting nose-to-nose with Raph. “Fix this or you’re going to lose her.”
There was nothing Raph could say to that, even if he wanted to. It was the truth and he was terrified he had already lost you.
~~~~~~~~~~
Mikey and I were halfway through our last race when I noticed Raph and Leo walk in out of the corner of my eye, distracting me. Knocking me off the road. Or so I’d like to blame them when Mikey jumped up, rubbing his victory in my face. I ignored him. Setting the controller down I  glanced back where I saw Raph minutes ago, only to find him staring down at me barely an arm’s length away, a slice of my favorite pizza in hand.
I was stunned, to say the least, as my eyes shifted between him and the pizza he seemed to be offering me.
“Ya hungry?” He asked, raising the pizza closer to my nose.
“Uh, yeah,” I timidly reached for the slice, being extra careful not to touch Raph. One touch and I knew I’d be back to square one of Operation: Move on from Raph. While playing the videogame with Mikey I had decided I may not be able to get the guys to stay away, considering they all seem to be adamant about keeping me safe, but I could control how close I am to Raph. Ergo, the plan to stay away from him. To keep me from crushing even harder on him. To keep my heart safe. To keep my sanity.
Leo was right, I am family. To most of them, at least, and Raph wasn’t going to keep me away.
“Ready for the movie?” He asked, surprising me. Normally he didn’t start conversation with me. It was always nods and grunts. We had a… strange friendship, now that I thought about it. We never really talked, but I had always felt magnetized toward him. Probably due to the fact that he saved my life.
“Uh… yeah,” I bit into my pizza, turning away so as to not be intimidated. He was at least a foot taller than me and nobody could ever tell me those muscles weren’t unnerving. When I wasn’t drooling over them, that is. “I’ll probably just sit on the bean bag, by the way, so I’m not so much of a bother.”
“Yer not a bother,” he said, voice husky, drawing my attention.
“My children,” Splinter stated. “You all know where drinks and more pizza is if you wish for more. I shall be meditating in the dojo. Enjoy your movie.”
We all mumbled our thanks through mouthfuls of pizza as he strode away. I took the chance to move away from Raph and sat down on the edge of the couch, glaring at Donnie, who stole the bean bag and pretended like he had no idea that’s where I planned on sitting. Mikey started the movie as Leo turned down the lights.
I had just started to relax when I was suddenly lifted, only to be sat back down on Raph’s lap as he loosely held me in his arms. I stiffened in his hold, willing my heart to calm down. Reminding myself not to get comfortable, that I was going home directly after the movie.
“Relax,” his breath tickled my ear as his arms snaked around my waist, pulling me closer.
I nodded, unable to formulate any words as I unconsciously melted into his hold.
“You always sit here. On my lap,” he continued to whisper, resting his head on my shoulder. “Where you belong.”
What did he just say?
~~~~~~~~~~
You froze in Raph’s arms, breaths becoming uneven as the movie carried on. He had no idea what movie was picked for the night. Nor did he care. His mission: to confess all, hoping beyond hope that you wouldn’t run away from him. He supposed he could always keep you trapped in his embrace, never to leave him. But he figured you wouldn’t like that much if you did decide to leave.
Eventually, after what seemed an eternity, you relaxed. Not long after that, he heard light snores rise to his ears. He decided that was his cue to carry you to bed. His bed. And this time he laid down next to you, more than a little unwilling to let you out of his sight, hopeful for tomorrow.
He laid there, intent on watching you sleep peacefully- just until he had to go on patrol. When you snuggled closer into his chest, his heart soared. Hair fell across your face and with a shaky hand he gently, carefully tucked it behind your ear. You sighed, stopping his heart. Vaguely, he wondered what he could possibly do to win you over. Eventually, he allowed himself to rest his arm around your waist, hoping it didn’t crush you.
After a half an hour of so, Leo knocked lightly on his door, signalling it was time to go above ground. Reluctantly, Raph moved his arm that was on top of you, but you latched on- stopping him cold, afraid he woke you up. After a few seconds he realized you were still sleeping, slowly he slid his arm out of your grip and tip-toed out of his room without a glance over his shoulder. Although it didn’t seem to help the temptation to crawl back in bed with you.
Once out of the sewers they flew rooftop to rooftop, looking for thugs, Foot, Kraang- anything to make the night go faster. Thankfully, his brothers left him alone, but that also made it a quiet night. Which allowed his mind to work on overdrive. Distracting him with thoughts of you: the smell of your hair, your soft skin, your curves, the way you felt in his arms- so small in his grasp. Granted, most humans were small compared to him and his brothers.
So when they came across a handful of Foot, his mind was elsewhere. So much so, he scarcely noticed the glint of a blade coming at him. He blocked it with his sais. Just barely, forcing it to slide off the edge of his three-pronged weapons and sliced up his arm. He hissed at the burning sensation that seeped deep into his muscles- deeper than the cut itself was. He spun around to plunge with his uninjured arm, but was stopped short by an arrow flying into his bicep, forcing out a roar before he fell to his knees.
His brothers were quick to surround him, easily knocking the swordsman down as the archer fled the scene, but not before forewarning them of Raph’s future- who had now face-planted into the pavement.
“It’s too late,” the archer shouted down at them as Raph succumbed to darkness. “He’s as good as dead.”
~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up with a start, recognizing the familiar 80s band posters and dumbbells surrounding you. You berated yourself, astonished you actually fell asleep in Raph’s arms the night before. You weren’t supposed to stay the night. That wasn’t part of the plan. Then you remembered what Raph said. That you belonged. You felt the blood rush to your cheeks as you swung your legs off the bed, preparing to face the typical Raph. The one who only looked at you to check for injuries. The one who kept his distance. The one who hid his kind heart that you had gotten a glimpse of that first night you met.
You took a steadying breath and made your way to the door, not expecting three somber mutants to be standing outside of Donnie’s lab.
“What’s wrong?” You looked at Splinter first, then Leo, and Mikey. None but Splinter were able to meet your gaze. “Where’s Raph?”
Suddenly, you knew something was wrong. Your breath hitched, your heart sped, and blood drained down to your toes. You were terrified.
“G-guys?” You whispered out. The words were barely able to pass the lump in your throat.

Sorry in advance
I wouldn’t go as far to say that Mikey’s relationship with his family in 2012 is abusive... but the hitting and constant making fun of him is borderline and DEFINITELY AINT COOL. Listen I relate TOO HARD to the little ADHD boy, and I can say without a doubt that the treatment of him is... ehhhhh. The hitting? Yeah no IM NOT GONNA LET IT SLIDE. It wasn’t intentional for the writing of his brothers to be mean to him, but it’s a little obvious that the people writing this weren’t focused on portraying a healthy family. At least they never had siblings of their own. Yeah siblings tease each other and play fight, but it isn’t this one sided. The problem isn’t that they fight (which they do ALOT OF) it’s that Mikey DOESNT DO ANYTHING WRONG. He gets distracted, he makes mistakes, he talks a lot. He is ADHD-coded and that’s just who he is. He’s a little annoying, sure. A N D??? IS THIS A HUGE PROBLEM??? I know Raph has anger issues but JFC DUDE HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING. Also, Mikey has ALOT of attention seeking behavior, and 1. That isn’t healthy, 2. It only leads to him being hit more, and 3. It’s most likely a direct response to being put down and told to shut up. He never has a chance to even fight back. Like there was one scene where he’s just chilling on the roof, trying to get Raph’s attention, poking him because he’s bored-no biggie, a little annoying but he can’t help it- AND JUST RAPH STRAIGHT UP JUMPS AND PINS HIM. LIKE NO SORT OF TOLERANCE, NO CHILL. AND THEN HE GOES ON TO FORCE HIM TO PRAISE HIM AND SHIT AND IM SITTING HERE, MEGA UNCOMFY. Not cool dudes. And again, it’s all one sided, MIKEY DOESNT DO ANYTHING. Another scene, Raph’s annoyed at Mikey about something and is poking him in the head harshly and repeatedly, making fun of him about SOMETHING. Mikey tries to stand up for himself, and then oh so cautiously, obviously scared, he pokes Raph in the chest very gently. GUESS WHO SNAPS ON HIS ASS AND CHASES HIM? RAPH. Dude you were just HARRASSING HIM. Donnie isn’t any better, and would be a tolerable character (albeit a simp) if it wasn’t for him OVER AND OVER AGAIN IGNORING, YELLING, AND MAKING FUN OF MIKEY. “Don’t touch that you idiot” DUDE JUST BE NICE ABOUT IT. I get it, yeah, it can be annoying. Just, like, LOCK THE LAB DOOR OR SOME SHIT. And the worst thing is when Mikey makes a mistake, does something on accident, or slips up. AND THEY GET MAD AT HIM. MY GOD IT WASNT ON PURPOSE. And it’s not excused because “well they have each other’s backs in the end” or “well Raph is nice to him sometimes” AND ITS LIKE. N,,, NO??? THAT DOESN’T EXCUSE ANYTHING?? In fact it probably makes it worse, and makes it seem more MANIPULATIVE than anything. Whether his brothers actually care about him or not, it isn’t right to only treat him decently “if he deserves it” or he’s in danger. Being nice SOMETIMES doesn’t excuse anything, intact it just makes said victim feel BAD for standing up for themselves. Mikey COULD FIGHT BACK. HE IS STRONG. But he doesn’t, and it hurts me. ITS SO NORMAL TO THEM TO BORDERLINE BULLY HIM. Leo is okay. Leo isn’t awful, but he is just kinda there... chilling... and he does chase Mikey down once or twice. He’s not the worst though. Anyways this escalated more than I wanted it to, I just am really frustrated with the 2012 writing. It’s not bad, it’s whatever. But the family dynamic was so off. I want Rise Raph to hug 2012 Mikey, because yes. Dr. DT better break 2012 Raph’s spine. And then teach him how to PROPERLY cope with anger issues, instead of beating people up to feel superior and powerful. Like Rise Mikey teaching 2012 Raph about different mechanisms, like drawing out frustrations, or cooking aggressively. BUT only after Dr. Delicate Touch breaks his spine. Donnie also gets anger management classes, because OH BOY HE HAD A SHORT FUSE.

You gazed at the reflection of a girl. She looked utterly exhausted; bags under her eyes like she hasn't slept in ages.
Her lips were tilted up in a sneer; it was evident that she was repressing the urge to scream. But instead of giving in to the voice begging her to do just that, she drove her foot through the water's surface. Not only disfiguring the reflection of the girl, but also dirtying the dress you nitpickingly chose to wear this day. At the time you felt beautiful wearing it. Proud that you chose the right clothes to fit with the dress, completing the look you wanted.
Now, you just didn't care.
You didn't feel pretty nor proud.
You choked out a sob, rubbing the back of your hand against your face harshly.
You wanted all the white noise to stop, wanted the crying to stop, wanted the searing headache to stop. Why couldn't time freeze? Then, maybe the chaos in your head would finally end.
You had tried everything you knew that normally should have worked. Out of all of the times for those methods not to work, why did it precisely choose now when it actually matters?
You followed all the steps. You even rehearsed the steps as you did them.
Step one: When you feel an episode coming, go to a quiet place with dull, even colours.
You had almost dropped your project when you felt everything becoming overwhelming, muttering an explanation to your teacher before almost booking out of the school building, to the most calming place you could recall; the park.
Step two: Once you have found a quiet place, go sit down and use your headphones to block out all of the sounds.
The headphones did not work.
Your never-ending trains of thoughts took the place of the noise and multiplied it by two.
Images that flashed before your eyes every time you closed them were too bright. You were unable to figure out the meanings behind the words your mind screamed at you.
All of it only worsened the already painful headache.
After only a moment you tore the headphones from your head.
Step three: Try even your breathing, and count to ten to ground yourself.
This was the only step that worked. You managed to calm yourself and stop your ragged breathing but it took effort. It took two attempts of counting to ten before it succeeded.
This whole fiasco petered you out mentally and physically. You just wanted this unnecessary sensory to decrease and quiet down to at least a tolerable level. But alas, the world did not want to cooperate this time.
You sighed, casting your gaze to the heavens.
The sky was beautiful this evening - painted in orange and pink - and you would have taken the time to admire it, had it been in a different situation.
After hearing a familiar yet obnoxious 'ping' coming from within your bag, you cursed under your breath. You snatched your bag from behind you crudely, zipping it open with a huff. As you turned it on, you flinched at the bright light of your screen.
One unread message from 'Mom.'
She was worried sick no doubt. You felt guilty for worrying her, and wanted to reassure her that yes, you were safe, but felt like trash and were in the middle of an episode that wouldn't stop. No matter how hard you tried, all the obnoxious and illogical sensory your brain's been picking up did not stop. Though, on the other hand, you just wanted to ignore the message and skip the whole situation of explaining everything altogether and just turn off the screen and put notifications on mute. You sent a quick 'k' to whatever she had messaged you and moved on to the mute button.
Your finger hovered above it when a notification popped up, causing you to hesitate.
One new message from 'The great Mikester dude!'
Without thinking, you pressed on the notification, staring with big eyes at the message he had sent you: Guess who and where dudette. :P
"Mikey." You gasped out, manoeuvring your head in all kinds of directions, eyes skimming all over the park, trying to find the one in question. You felt the tingling and buzzing feeling of hope and glee pool in your body, replacing the sadness and anger.
All problems were forgotten or pushed to the back of your mind.
The white noise died down suddenly when you heard a low thud and the slight rustling of leaves.
There was no other explanation; they were here...You were sure of it.
Only they could stop the chaos when everything else failed, though you didn't know how, nor the logic in it.
You guessed it had something to do with their ninja nature or something. (Even though Donnie told you multiple times that it might have been because of the aura they carried with, them, being half turtle and all that jazz had its side effects on some humans, like how a pet could soothe its owner simply by being near them. You still blamed it on them being ninjas.)
With your mind settled down, you could think clearly again.
You briefly acknowledged the fact that you most certainly were a dishevelled mess. Puffy eyes from crying, clothes covered in mud, and hair all over the place, considering that you've pulled and tangled your hair in frustration. Despite all of this, you didn't care.
You were too busy thinking of a plan to lure them - you guessed it was all of them, though it could be only Mikey - out of their hiding place.
You accidentally placed your hand on your phone, making it vibrate, and your hand shot back as if it had burned you. A few seconds after, a song piped up.  A lot of curses could be heard from the tree where the music came from, the leaves rustled like no tomorrow. Mikey fell out of said tree not long after, hitting the ground with an 'oof' followed by a groan. You stared at Mikey for a couple of seconds before doubling over in laughter as the realisation hit you:
You had accidentally called Mikey!
Well, it sure helped you find him!
You counted that as a win on your part. And it seemed that Mikey was on his own, for normally one of the brothers, cough Raph cough would have jumped out from their hiding place and scolded Mikey.
He rolled into a sitting position, giggling with you.
"Yo, dudette! Fancy seeing you here. Don't mind me dropping in," he said, peering at you with an expecting smile, seeming to wait for a reaction.
It took you a hot second or two for you to catch on, eventually groaning at the pun and face-palming yourself for your delayed comprehension. He did jazz hands and everything.
The great ninja Michelangelo just punned...
You wanted to kick yourself, you completely forgot that April had warned you about Mikey using puns. She had messaged you not too long ago about how it was a "Big" (with capital B) mistake of Casey to teach Mikey "The Art of puns." For Mikey had become obsessed with them. - Throughout the whole exchange, Casey had managed to steal April’s phone a few times and messaged you some words. Three guesses which one was Casey’s input on the matter. -
You had no clue what they meant with "mistake" throughout that whole exchange.
You appreciated a good pun.
This was not a good pun.
You could just imagine the brothers’ reactions to Mikey's newfound fixation: Raph screaming desperately for Mikey to shut up. Donnie being hella annoyed with something pressed against his (ears?) to drown Mikey out. Leo would definitely try to ignore him, probably without success, because you knew...oh, you knew Mikey would take every chance he got to make a pun.
Your heart went out for them. Needing to go through such torture was horrid, yet it was a funny sight to be completely honest. Not that you would ever tell them, heavens no.
You were not going to poke three bears with a stick - in this case, mutant turtles. You were not ready to die three separate times.
"Dude, that was so bad,” you said, making a face as if you had just been forced to smell Raph's feet. You still regret going through with that bet.
"Dude!"
Mikey frowned, throwing his hands in the air. You knew he wasn't really offended, just a bit pouty.
"It's the truth, dude," you retorted absentmindedly, casting your gaze from left to the right before it rested on your bag. Smiling slightly, you snatched it, hauling it over your back before turning back to Mikey who sat contently against the tree.
"But," you emphasised the word by pointing your index finger in the air, "you can get better,” your grin widened as you spoke.
“And I, Y/N, know how it's really done."
Mikey's pout vanished and a wide, child-like grin overtook his face. You had his full attention, as he observed you expectantly from his cross-legged position.
The long uncut grass rippled towards and caressed Mikey, the blades of green curling slightly forward and creating an image of what looked like nature sheltering Mikey from the harsh reality outside of this garden of paradise.
The green-filled branches of the tree hovered above him, leaves gliding down every now and again, covering Mikey in small dapples of shadow.
Dusk's hew engulfed the image before you in a soft purple radiance. Mikey's skin practically glowed, making him look like a forest fairy.
It was a captivating sight.
You could mistake it for a painted fairy tale that had come to life. Whoever the painter was had made sure that each tiny detail captured the magic and beauty of the image before you.
A magic-filled world coexisting in the harsh one you stood in... what you wouldn't give to cast all worries aside and join that world.
You were so lost in the moment that you almost forgot to continue.
Shaking yourself free from the enchanting sight, you carried on, albeit flustered, "a-and I could, um, teach you a thing or two. If...If you want me to, that is."
Mikey almost jumped right in your face before the words had completely left your mouth. There were practically stars in his eyes! He actually looked really adorable.
"Really!? You would!? Y/N, you are the best!!"
Mikey engulfed you into a hug, his body nearly covering your entire body from the world.
You gave a chuckle as he kept his arms circled around you, letting you sit in his lap. You didn't mind at all, feeling cosy in his arms.
"Of course I would Mikester. It would be my pleasure!"
You raised your hands to Mikey's cheeks, giving them a couple of pats before you continued.
"That way, you have a reason to end patrol earlier so we can spend more time together," and it would give the others a break from the barrage of bad puns, but you didn't voice that out loud.
Mikey seemed to agree. He didn't waste any time to establish when and where this 'class-session', as he called it, would be taking place. He wanted it to become, without a shadow of a doubt, a weekly thing, like movie night at the turtles’ place with everyone.
Mentioning movie night brought up some nasty memories of last time -the movie night itself wasn’t bad, just one of your episodes got out of hand -  and Mikey changed the subject promptly after seeing you wince slightly.
He told you about all kinds of new skateboard tricks he mastered and invented.
After a little while - when everything had been said about skateboarding - Mikey started to eagerly talk about random topics, bringing up stuff like how his training went this morning or what he encountered on patrol. Just little things to draw more time spending in this position. You kept in mind that this peaceful moment couldn't last forever, for both of you would have to separate sooner rather than later.
You needed to go home to your no doubt worried sick parents, before they would start search parties. And Mikey...had to wait till the next time you two could hang out. (Which wasn't as often as both of you desired)
You listened to his voice silently, only humming a reply whenever Mikey asked for your opinion, snuggling deeper into his embrace as you lost track of time. Drowsiness tugged at your consciousness, beckoning you to close your eyes and let sleep take over. The way Mikey held you close to him made you feel loved and safe, with you resting your head against his chest to hear his heartbeat. He rubbed soothing circles on your left shoulder with one hand, making it impossible to resist the urge to let sleep take you away to dreamland.
You vaguely heard Mikey's voice murmur in your ear, "Sweet dreams, sugar muffin..." You felt soft lips brush against your forehead before sleep took you over.

Michelangelo stayed seated for a little while longer, looking at your sleeping form with loving eyes. If the world would have let him, he would have stayed like this forever. Alas, the moment was broken when your mobile pinged inside your bag, vibrating like crazy.
Mikey panicked. Jumping to his feet (surprisingly without stirring you) without thinking. He opened your bag in such haste he had almost dropped you trying to grab the vibrating phone before it would wake you.
He sighed in relief when the phone stopped its obnoxious buzzing after he managed to keep you from falling. He shifted you gently onto one arm to hold you delicately, yet tightly to his chest, as if he was protecting you from the world around you.
Once he made sure you were nestled comfortably in his hold,  he glanced towards the device lying in his palm. Mikey held it at an arm's length.
One question drifted inside his mind: Who in their right mind would call you this late in the evening?
It was a question where he could get an answer, but Mikey didn't want to pry into your private life without your permission.
But the curiosity gnawed at him like he would do with pizza.
He shook his head and chastised himself for goggling the device longingly. "No, bad Mikey...Be the better man, you can do this," he muttered, moving to put the phone in your bag until your phone buzzed again, displaying the number of notifications on the lit-up screen.
It made him halt in his tracks.
Mikey knew you were having a bad day today. After all, he saw you crying by the pond in the centre of the park. It was a mere coincidence, patrolling around the park at the time. He had seen you crying and decided right then and there that he would cheer you up. But he had no idea you had that kind of bad day.
There were seven unread messages and three missed calls from your mother. All of them showed how worried she was about you, asking where you were and if you had one of your sensory overstimulation episodes.
Without really thinking about it, he typed a reply to your mother: Batteries died, was with a friend. Coming home through the fire escape forgot keys.
It wasn’t a  grammatically correct message, he knew. It was the best he could do with one hand and one thick tumb.
Mikey glanced towards you with gentle eyes and a soft smile after sending the message and put your phone back in your bag.
He moved you gently, holding you with both arms again and cradling you against his chest.
You, in turn, stirred and snuggled deeper into Mikey's chest, making his heart soar.
"Time to get you home, sugar muffins..." he whispered softly, brushing a couple of stray hairs out of your face.
Mikey moved swiftly yet precisely, ensuring you did not wake or feel uncomfortable during roof-top-hopping. You needed all the rest you could get; the bags under your eyes made him even more certain of the fact.
Your home came into Mikey's field of vision far too soon. Opening the window and laying you softly onto your bed felt too fast for his taste.
Mikey took extra care to tuck you in. He even attached a little note to your bag for you to find when you would wake up.
He really wanted to stay longer, but the sound of your parents coming up the stairs told him it was time to go. He opened the door of your room slightly so your parents would know you were home. Michelangelo climbed through the window before your parents could see him.
He watched your parents turn on the light from a rooftop across your window. Your dad gave you an extra blanket before the two of them turned off the light and left your room.
Mikey stayed there on the rooftop for a little while longer before leaving, looking over his shoulder one last time and then he sprinted over the rooftops towards home.

You found the note the next day. You smiled brightly at the words hastily scribbled on the pape. You texted Mikey a reply before you went to look out your window. Your eyes draw towards the morning sky, which was painted in a soft orange hue.
You repeated the words inside your head, making you excited for the next time you would see your turtle in orange...
Yoo, dudette! Can't wait for the pun-session upcoming Friday!
I'll pick you up at ten alright? It's a date! ;) <3
