Me, the only dumbass in my grade who took IGCSE Biology: The adrenal glands, which are cone shaped and situated above the kidney, have been stimulated to release more adrenaline because I am in a "fight or flight" situation. This causes my heart to beat at a higher rate so that more cells receive glucose and oxygen from the blood to respire aerobically and produce more ATP, preparing the body to respond to the stimulus accordingly. Gas exchange in the alveoli also occurs at a higher rate because more blood is being pumped, resulting in a higher concentration gradient and increasing the rate of diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide

1) How many works in progress to do you currently have in progress?

Oooohh kay. My NaNo story, which is original, a fic I couldn’t resist starting for the @drarryexchange​, a Fantastic Beasts/Harry Potter crossover which has turned into an epic, and two original books, one of which has been in the works on and off for a couple of years. I know exactly what’s going to happen next, and I still love the story, but I got...ahem...sidetracked...

Plus six million ideas that I cry over because I can’t write them all right now

2) Do you/would you write fan fiction?

I started just over a year ago and I’m addicted ^_^

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?

paper, but ebooks have their place

4) When did you start writing?

I started keeping a diary at 6 and have done so pretty consistently since then. I’ve been writing stories since I was 14, used to write them on lined paper and SEW it together to hand round my friends at school lol! I still have most of them...I lost the very first one, someone took it to read and never gave it back lol. It was about a girl who lived sort of stowaway style on a dhow and rescued some other kidnapped children...she was kickass

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?

apart from fics which I stick on AO3?! Yeah, kinda - my friend’s an editor and bless her she read my entire first manuscript, printed it out and red-pencilled it, and then hassled me when I mentioned I might just give up on it! I published it as an ebook a couple of months ago ^_^ thank you JJ! My mum-in-law also offered to do any future ones cos she used to edit a magazine and is as much a book nerd as I am, so she’s getting an email with the next manuscript soon!

6) Where is your favourite place to write?

at the Pinto Lounge lol! Actually any cafe, but they’re friendly at that one particularly. But I’ll happily write anywhere, kids’ ballet lessons, kitchen table, bed, wherever I have my notebook and pen, or failing that, google docs or my Tablo app!

7) Favourite childhood book?

I grew up on the famous five, and then used to narrate my life from their point of view, like they were hiding behind the sofa observing me and trying to decide if I was interesting enough to come and play with. I was a weird child who grew up into a weird adult ;) As an older child/teen, the Dark Materials, Harry Potter and Terry Pratchett

8) Writing for fun or writing for publication?

Both? Both. Both is good. The publication gives me a quantifiable excuse for spending so much of my time and brain on writing, even though hubs tells me I don’t need an excuse - it makes me happy therefore I should do it

9) Pen and paper or computer?

both, I plan and do my first draft on paper (old diaries are the best, narrow ruled, loads of space, only 50p in WH Smith in August, really pretty covers - what’s not to like?) and then second (and third, fourth, etc) draft on the computer. It forces me to just get the first draft DOWN and then also forces me to completely re-draft it when I come to transcribe it onto the laptop

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?

only my IGCSEs. And the extra poetry classes that Mr W started when he noticed some of us were enthusiastic

11) What inspires you to write?

Oh god...I don’t know?! Basically I write what I desperately want to read. If I don’t write it, I’ll be daydreaming it over and over and OVER again!

Oh, I’ll put down @wanderingnork, @w3-4r3-th3-f1r3, and @rocknvaughn even though I’ve never interacted with them, but because they write fucking beautiful Humans fics and I need someone else to appreciate the pure gold that is that series!
