When his friend spat in their captor’s face and was dragged away, he called out: “You can’t hurt them.”

And he believed it. They were iron-forged.

His friend didn’t come back for hours. Sometimes he could hear screams. Staccato, broken off screams, like they’d been cut off with a sharp blow.

When his friend was dropped to the cell floor—crimson hand-shaped smears left behind— the world snapped beneath his feet.

His friend couldn’t be—

That couldn’t be his friend.

Shoulders shaking as they sobbed? Their glare replaced with terror? No. No no nono—

Their captor came back for his friend. This time, he lunged against the chains. “Don’t fucking touch them!”

The screams came faster this time, dragging on and on and on.

He thought, if he could, he’d rip his ears off. If only to stop the screaming.

The bleeding screams. Open-mouthed horror. Why were the walls so thin?

His friend was kicked into the cell and they collapsed almost instantly. They didn’t move.

It was a long, quiet night.

In the morning, their captor laughed as they grabbed the bleeding shape that was their friend.

He spat the words out. “Coward! Take me instead!”

I did something silly….. I made QL guess who!

About a year and a half ago I had the idea for a custom ql guess who game but I had no one to play it with so I just put it to the side until I (hopefully) would. Fortunately that day came this weekend when @pondphuwin and I got to play a few rounds (they beat me 4:5 actually lmao)!

Some of the questions we asked were stuff like “is it from gmmtv,” “does your show have a branded pair,” “is there a love triangle,” “is there a debate over whether your show is a bl or not,” and more personal ones like “am I crazy over one of the main actors,” “do we have beef with the way this bl went,” “did we watch this live together,” and so on. Rlly fun stuff!

Since this is a custom guess who I had to make all the pieces manually. At first it seems fine and easy bc there’s already official posters right? But the difficulty is that almost every poster is a different size. So I figured out how to get the proper guess who face piece measurements and manually resized each poster to fit, with a slight gradient in the background where the remaining space isn’t covered by the poster. You can see those gradient bars on the top and bottom in the closeup of the last twilight piece, for example. Also it’s just really funny to hold mini posters of qls lmao (using my hand as a reference)

There’s 190 ql poster pieces in total (based on approx. how many I’d seen as of the time of printing) (yes I will add more as time goes on) and they were all put on one big google doc that covered about 10 pages and looked like this!

After I had them all set I printed them out on cardstock so they were thicker & more sturdy and then I did a lot of cutting. And since both players need the same posters I had to cut it all twice

Are there easier ways to do this? Maybe. I’m not sure. Honestly I just did whatever like this is my own gay little art project lol

Once I had them all cut and held them in my hand I felt quite proud of my work and now that I’ve actually played it I really do

Here’s just like a pic I took when we were playing a round. Since there were so many, after every round we took out the two qls we just selected and replaced them with new ones and we never ran out lmao. It took quite a bit of effort but it was totally worth it hehe

don’t get me wrong I think the general interpretation of Leo being like “I put up a cocky front but deep down I don’t actually think I’m that great and that’s why I have something to prove” is good. It’s cool, plenty of drama/angst potential and probably what the creators were going for, I’m here for it.

But there is a distinct appeal to me of the slightly-to-the-left interpretation of Leo being like “it’s not a front, I know I’m that good/smart/skilled, but I also know I’m seen by others as just the goofball face man and that’s why I have something to prove.”

Remember the time you were good at thing?” #Or sometimes “it doesn’t matter that you’re not good at [thing] we love you regardless of what you can provide” #And again THATS GOOD THATS SOME GOOD SHIT #I LOVE THAT #but with the latter it’s more like “I know I’m good at thing *but I don’t know how to prove it to you*” #And that gives you the best of both worlds where you CAN get character A feeling bad but not for their lack of thing #But because if no can see it surely they *must* be doing something wrong right? #And ALSO you get the characters around them getting all sorts of feelings of “we didn’t do enough to show we believe in them” #Or “we didn’t notice how hard they tried” #Cuz you can get that a little in the first one but it can come off as kinda meh cuz they didn’t actually do anything wrong #It also has more opportunities for emotions besides straight sadness #You can have anger and conflict of “why am I not good enough for you?!” #That straight sef deprecation doesn’t always allow for #You can also have jealously and envy that feels less toxic and more justified #Not that it strictly needs to be justified mind you #Sometimes some toxic feelings stemming from perceived inadequacy are fuckin *chefs kiss* #But again it’s abt the VARIETY yknow #This isn’t even about Rottmnt anymore I’m just rambling #It’s my post and I get to choose the bullshit tags

Laszlo and Guillermo’s friendship means a lot to me because they seem to be the two character with the most complicated relationships to both vampirism and to their conceptions of love.

Laszlo is the youngest of the vamps and you can see the enthusiasm wearing thin as human relationships like raising a child or having a best friend become strained and complicated. Guillermo is the opposite: he’s so disenchanted with humanity he craves vampirism as an escape without really considering that immortality won’t change his complicated relationship with his family or Nandor’s selfish attitude or the vamps looking down on him.

Nandor is more on the nose as a parallel to Guillermo but I think Laszlo is the more interesting parallel. They both crave what they can never have but cannot admit to themselves what they really want. It’s not a search for contentment but a refusal to change their preconceived ideas of themselves. I love them.
