Ok new side order au that I’ve come up with after falling head first on a mountain on high speeds did 2 front flips and now it hurts to walk đŸ˜„
Potential side order spoilers so it’s under cut
SORRY IF THIS DOESNT MAKE SENCE I JUST WANTED TO GET THIS OUT
Oh and btw, all my agents are male so I’m using he/him pronouns for all these sillies
Ok so, I’ll call this au “order sided” (yes very original ik). Agent 4 is the protag. instead of agent 8. The intro is the same except instead of Pearl 4 meets Acht. The rest plays out like normal. Four and Acht have a talk and end up going to the spire.
At first, Four uses his og hero shot as that’s the nearest weapon he has. Acht supports 4 in battle by alarming 4 is he’s about to get cornered and if something’s coming up on his back. Since there is no Pearl drone, 4 has no palette, or at least at the moment. No palette, means no chips, means no upgrades. The floors get harder and harder, and 4 finds it hard to keep up with no upgrades. But eventually, through struggle they get on a floor that doesn’t look like other ones.
The floors glitches every now and then, seemingly unstable. When 4 actually lands on the ground of the level, he sees Marina and Pearl standing further. When she notices 4, she tells 4 to get out from this place, or at least try to. She and Pearl seemed to be working on something. Marina urgently types on her laptop, Pearl near her. Marina hits the “enter” button, but it looks like that didn’t fix anything, in fact, the program changes things drastically, the cutscene from the original game of the explosion of the spire plays out.
During this cutscene, Four looses his regular agent gear and his hero shot btw, his clothes change to the ones agent 8 has in the og game.
Four is waken up again, except by a familiar voice. He opens his eyes up to see a tall figure, crouching while looking at him. It calls out his name (well, his agent number) while standing up. “Yo man, I was told to look for an inkling with a sanitized octoling or whatever please tell me you’re that one.” The figure spits out fast. 4 sits up, his vision getting back to him. When he can properly see the person in front of him he realises that it’s
agent 3? He’s wearing a strange outfit though, different from his agent gear (I’ll post a reference soon, rn you can just picture anything you want). “Three?” Four calls out to him, but 3 just looks at him confused. “Did you hit your head- oh wait you probably did, my bad”. They share a dialogue, where 3 introduces himself as “Sango”, later saying he’s one of the members of this band called “Catch the Hook”. Four is very confused by this. Apparently, Sango doesn’t remember being an agent. His eyes are covered by very tinted shades, 4 cant see them at all. His sanitisation scar is just an awkwardly lighter shade of his skin, though the scar on his tentacle looks the same.
After their small talk, Sango says that they HAVE to go to that spire in the middle to save someone named
‘Hachi’? Four decides to stop trying to even figure out what’s going on anymore. When they go into the spire, in the Foyer Sango gives 4 his old hero shot. “I dunno what this thing is, but I feel like you’re more experienced with guns than I am, so take this, I don’t really see your gun anywhere.” Sango’s hero shot has a Power and Range chip bias palette.
When clearing the spire (that’s bigger btw), they soon run into a boss floor, where they spot the person named ‘Hachi’. Turns out, it’s Eight! Except he looks like he’s sanitized
When Sango sees Hachi he is determined to go out there and help Four, but at the sight of the sanitised ink he feels weak and sick, Four guesses that it somehow reminded him of his mind being hijacked in the past. Four manages to defeat Hachi, and Sango comes to catch him (like the cutscene at the end of the Marina boss battle). Hachi introduces himself to Four as the singer of the “Catch the Hook” duo. They go back into the elevator.
During the elevator rides 4 talks with Sango and Hachi in hopes of them remembering that they used to be his coworkers, agents. Unfortunately, they just look at 4 in confusion, deciding to switch the topic and talk about their latest or biggest hits. Hachi’s tentacles look scarred with sanitized ink, to which he says that it feels weirdly, uncomfortably familiar, this also sparks something in Sango as well.
They fight bosses like usual, getting keys. While opening the lockers 4 stumbles upon Achts palette, being the squiffer. Parallel Canon is actually a group of sanitized and rival octolings with different weapons (from 3’s and 8’s memories), after seeing the battles, Sango and Hachi mention that they actually really like rollers and splatlings, and, if they weren’t idols and too busy, they’d try them out in an ink battle. Sango also talks to him about wanting to use a charger later on, saying it reminded him of someone he could consider his ‘mentor’.
Some stages are actually hero mode/octo expansion ones. These are just memory fragments from 3 and 8. To these, Sango and Hachi mention that they feel ‘natural’ and ‘nostalgic’. They don’t know why, but 4 feels like he has chances of making Sango and Hachi remember their past lives.
When they reach the final boss they decide to go all together. 4 uses 3’s old hero shot, while Sango and Hachi decide to give a dynamo and a hydra a try to assist 4, as they’ve grown close to him. They beat the overlorder, pretty much the same as canon, except Sango is the one who Insta charges his special and Hachi uses it to destroy the enemy.
After completing the spire with all palettes, 4 unlocks a locker with two palettes inside of it, these being Agent 3’s palette and Agent 8’s palette, the dynamo and the hydra. The end is considered to be beating the spire with 3’s and 8’s palettes. After the final defeat of Smollusk they head to the elevator. But in the elevator Sango and Hachi feel strange. Hachi collapses of sudden sharp back pain. Sango comes to comfort him but his right eye starts leaking. He takes off his shades just to see the right side of his faces has melted into turquoise ooze, same as Hachi’s body. Four can only watch Sango and Hachi struggle to keep themselves together, but his vision goes black once again.
Four wakes up a little further from Inkopolis Square. Three and Eight look at him concerned, asking if he’s okay. Four tells them he’s alright.
Agent 3 and 8 take roles as off the hook, being catch the hook. Their previous agent memories are erased, but can still be found in the spire as stages. After the full completion, 3’s and 8’s major scars basically kill them in order for their souls to be released back. Agent 4 is the protagonist because he’s team chaos, 3 and 8 are team order. Pearl and Marina are also palettes btw

Tablet and Studying
Tumblr media
Hi! I'm Adel, a Food Technology student. Today, I'm gonna talk about how getting a tablet affected my grades and changed the way I study (completely).
So, I know that Ipads are kind of overhyped. Like, I've seen youtubers such as studyquill and fayefilms talks about overhyped study trend and Ipad is included in both videos together with things such as fancy stationary.
Coming from a childhood where I watch youtubers using fancy things such as sharpies, mildliners, and tombow brush pen (yes in my country sharpies are sooo expensive, they're very uncommon and for the price of 1 sharpie I can get like 10 regular markers) I used to think that I need those fancy things to recreate what they're making. Until I actually saved money and bought the exact same things, I still can't recreate it lmao. So I know that I don't need fancy things and I can just utilize what I already have.
A little background information, my GPA in 1st semester was hella good, it was 3.97. But then I had to take academic leave during my 2nd and 3rd semester to work full time. Coming back from 1 year of academic leave, I can say I forgot how to study :D My GPA falls to 3.56 real quick. It was drastic and I had a pretty bad mental breakdown, considering I used to have such high GPA.
The next semester, the grades were dropping again as the classes transitioned from hybrid into fully offline class + I am still working full time. I had a rough time trying to balance work and studying. My GPA was 3.33! However at this point I started to get chill about it, but I know I have to go back on track (my target is to maintain my overall GPA to be above 3.5).
During the 1st semester, I was studying at least 3 hours/day and it can go up to 12 hours/day during exam season. I utilized traditional note taking, but I do type down my notes sometimes. But mostly I use pen and paper. However, I can't continue this method of studying on my 4th semester because I am working full time. I have no time to write down my notes with hand, that's why I upgraded my laptop. I started typing all of my notes down. I also bought a pen tablet to handwrite organic chemistry answers (because handwriting on paper and digitalizing it during exam is sooo stressful, might as well get a pen tablet). But then this method isn't that useful since my grades were dropping.
So in the 5th semester I started to type out everything I hear during lecture and stopped using the pen tablet. At this time I stopped bringing pen and paper, I only bring my laptop. I only used the pen tablet once during the final exam and I don't feel the need to use it anymore, so I sold it. However this method also doesn't work for me because during class I would just open a bunch of games and started playing instead of listening to the lecture. So using laptop to study also not really helpful for me. My laptop is big and heavy so my back was hurting as well. At this point I know I won't be able to bring my laptop everyday to campus and I might need to buy a tablet. Not only for health reason, but this time I really need to find new method of studying since other digital methods are not working for me. I feel like tablet would also motivates me (but at this point I'm still not sure with this).
So, for my 20th birthday, I bought myself a Xiaomi Pad 5 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. I wanted to get an Ipad so that I can use the goodnotes app, but I can't afford it. Learning from my past experience, I know I can still use alternatives to achieve the same thing (study, ofc). So I went for the cheaper version and hands down, this was the best big girl purchase I've ever made to this day. I started exploring different apps for note taking and eventually bought the stylus as well. I used to use Samsung notes on my laptop but I can't seem to install it in my tablet, so I use an app called Flexcil, which I recommend! I started writing down important notes directly on the lecture presentation. I record every lecture and started engaging in class whenever I can. At first, it was really hard because I'm not the type of person that likes "attention" in class and I don't like to raise my hand because people will look at me. I was scared of being judged. But after I started answering and asking questions to the lecturer, it became much easier for me to understand the material.
I mean I do play games sometimes during class and I don't feel like writing. In those days, I only record the lecture and highlight important points. I usually ask my friend for their notes on the day I don't feel like studying in class. I mean, there would always be good and bad days, right?
Fast forward to midterm exam, it became easier to study because all I have to do when reviewing is to read my handwritten notes. If there's anything I don't understand, I just simply replay the lecturer recording. I started asking my friend for tutoring and help. If none of my friend is able to help me, I will seek help from the lecturer. This helped me so much and my grades were going up like crazy. My GPA this semester was 3.92 (!!!).
It's really crazy considering I was going from 3.33 to 3.92, a 0.59 increase! Took me a while to find this method but I am grateful that I am able to make it work. My big girl purchase feels so worth it. Although I believe that this can be achieved by printing out the handouts and jot down notes using a pen, but a tablet definitely helped me so much since adding pictures and definitions is just one google search away.
I definitely did not expect that getting a tablet would change me so much. But yeah, it definitely gives me confidence boost and motivates me to study more. Making this type of digital note helped me focus (because I have to take down notes with stylus instead of typing) and understand the materials, making me able to engage with the lecturer during class. Being active in class helps me retain information better, resulting in better grades.
If you want to step up your studying game, you definitely have to try to engage during class because I really do think this was the biggest turning point in my studying life.
Prepare handouts before class (read if possible).
Take down notes directly during class (important points, don't forget to record the lecture to help during review)
Engage in class activities
Try to answer questions and ask if you don't understand (even if it means your lecturer has to re-explain the whole part, you can ask them outside class hours)
Get what you need to get in order to motivates you to study
Take care of yourself!! (eat good food, good sleep, drink water)
I hope my story can give you my point of view of using a tablet for studying.

Charged Up
One of the most frustrating things that happens to consumers, especially when it comes to tech products, is to find out that something you own is now obsolete. It happens all the time, but one company—Apple—has been notorious for doing it. Worse yet, the obsolescence affects one of the most mundane aspects of the product, yet also one of the most critical: the charger cord.
It was eleven years ago that Apple introduced the Lightning connector for its iPhones, leaving the much clunkier 30-pin connector to fade away. While it was a net improvement, it meant that all of our household and car chargers were done. They also did a similar move with charger cords for their MacBook line of laptops. And don’t get me started about when they eliminated the headphone jack back on iPhone 7 in 2016. It was clearly a move to bolster sales of their wireless AirPods.
Now they have done it again. At their big media announcement earlier this week, Apple announced iPhone 15 among other products, but also had to tell us that—here we go again—the phone’s charger cord would now be USB-C. It’s just that this time, Apple is not trying to pull another fast one, because they have been forced to change.
Tumblr media
While it is convenient to think that the US rules the world and we set the standards, we are quickly waking up to the fact that the EU—European Union—has significant clout. The General Data Protection Regulation that was passed in 2018 ensures that European users have much higher expectations of data privacy online, and while they can opt-in to cookies, they are not the de facto setting. We can thank the GDPR for all those annoying questions we face on many websites today asking us if we would like some cookies.
The EU is at it again, with charger cords the next item to come in their cross hairs. Starting next year, all devices sold in Europe must have a common connector. USB-C was chosen as the standard. In both cases—the GDPR and charger cord—American firms have decided to go with the flow, and not fight it. Rather than have two websites, one for the EU and the one for everywhere else, they opted for one. As for Apple, it had no choice but to yield, if it wants to sell phones there.
Of course, this once again puts consumers in a bad place, because we still have legacy products that require the Lightning cord. At my office, both my keyboard and mouse are charged by—you guessed it—the Lightning cord. And my two Apple MagSafe external batteries also require that connector. Even when I upgrade my phone from 12 to 15, I will still have to keep some of these old cords around, while also changing out my home and vehicle charger cords.
Lovely. I will be using two systems at the same time. I see a tangled mess of cables in my future.
It can be argued that Apple should never have stuck with proprietary connectors in the first place, that it wasn’t being a good corporate citizen. But there is a monetary explanation. On Wednesday’s Morning Brew Daily podcast, they reported that Apple makes $5 billion a year either selling its own cords, or licensing their manufacture to third-party companies. That is a significant revenue stream that is now gone.
I am also perplexed that Apple had already adopted the USB-C standard on its own for MacBooks and iPads. It’s enough to make me pull out my hair. Well, if I had enough to pull.
Yes, I am an Apple fan boy. I made the switch in 2005, and have not looked back. While I do not own an Apple Watch or AirPods, I have phone, laptop, office iMac, and tablet, and I love the eco-system. Everything plays well together, which makes it a powerful bundle not replicated elsewhere. I’m good with paying the so-called “Apple tax” to own these products.
Sometimes, though, I admit to the frustration you get when you feel like someone is just yanking you around. This time Apple is getting yanked around. It lost the battle in Europe, and had to concede the world. I’m happy, because there really never was a good reason to have unique connectors other than extra revenue. In fact, this is something that has been going on for years in tech products, from cords to batteries. I can show you a bunch of incompatible camera batteries within both the Sony and Canon lines.
It’s just that Apple is the one getting the black eye for it now. It’s going to be a wobbly transition period for a while until we wear out all of our older products that still use Lightning, but we’ll get there one day.
And we can then add those old charger cords to that box everyone has in their home. Heck, mine still has Cat-4, RS-232, RCA, and land-line phone cables in it. Just in case, you know.

Back to Linux!
So proud I finally did it!
Over 15 years ago I had decided to use free and open source software and I installed Linux on my work and personal computers.
Later I had grown somehow lazier about computers and abandoned myself into the warm arms of Apple’s world. I loved using a Mac for years but now things are different. Mac systems are different and the new internet with the social platforms, the surveillance and data gathering, profiling and activity monitoring convinced me to look back to free and open source software.
I successfully installed Arco Linux on an HP laptop and Manjaro on my old MacBook Pro that could no longer be updated. I used to work on Debian-based distributions but today I chose Arch-based distributions. I read it is a move many users are doing. Arch Linux has very large app repositories and the system is continuously upgraded, you don’t have to wait for a new release.
On the HP laptop I had issues with booting from the ArcoLinux ISO until I removed the safe boot feature. Debian-based distros did not recognize the internal Realtek Wi-Fi adapter (a known issue) while ArcoLinux did it immediately. I still have troubles with the touchpad that freezes every now and then. Using a Bluetooth mouse solves the problem
I was pleasantly surprised how my small HP Wi-Fi printer was readily recognized and used!
My 2011 MacBook Pro is stuck with MacOSX High Sierra. I read about the Arch-based Manjaro distribution with its slick KDE Plasma UI worth of Aqua and went for it. It installed easily but required some command line tweak to activate the fan and the keyboard backlighting. Again the printer was readily installed and the Wi-Fi connects immediately, while under High Sierra it takes ages. The busted speakers sound even better but what really astonished me was the possibility to play audio through the digital optical toslink output hooked to an external DAC! I was not expecting that! Not without some additional configuration!
GNU/Linux distributions made giant steps since I stopped using them around 15 years ago. I remember how printing was a nightmare sometimes. A lot of hardware was not easily recognized and needed manual configuration. Today installing Linux requires just a bit of know-how on the user’s side. If you want to keep Windows or Mac’s systems like I did you need to know about disk partitioning, but Linux installers have better tools for that today. They do pretty much everything automatically. Sometimes you need to do some command line configuration after installing but it is just a matter of following instructions you can find on the net.
Only real downside: no music streaming service provides an app for Linux except Spotify. I use Tidal because for 9.99 euros you get Hifi streaming. Spotify is still waiting to release this feature but I doubt it will cost the same. For the rest, there is plenty of free open source software to choose from to replace proprietary software you won’t find under Linux. Microsoft and Adobe, for instance, have never cared to port their widespread applications. Too bad
 😉

Was curious how many of the Sims 4 bugs on this list I've encountered
 it's a lot
Part One because I guess this is too many bugs even for tumblr hahaha
Jumpy Animations/Sims teleport - since a long time ago but worse now Routing/Sit down issue on several interactions - love to watch my sims wander around like ants looking for somewhere to sit with a chair right in front of them. especially love when I tell me sim to go play a game at the card table in the same room, and instead they go outside, walk around the entire house, come back in and then sit at the table. guess they just felt like a walk first lol Music from other modes Plays During Live Mode - yup and usually overlapping. fix with restart but it often happens in CAS where you lose all your stuff if you quit
Lag for menu to show up when clicking on objects - especially the fridge/oven!!!! Sims keep moving after paused Sims do DU homework under laptops - not just DU tho I get this for anything that can be done at a table, including eating, and sometimes it's not even a portable laptop but a computer Sim won't accept queued commands/ Sims don't do actions - this was supposedly "console" but as a non-console player I know it happens to the rest of us too. also to most of us Lots with manipulated terrain look realistic/strange in world view - idk if this is a bug, i think probably that's just how it appears. but it is weird Fishing Identification for active Sim with no fishing skill - I think this one has been around since base game. Sims 4 really wants everyone to love fishing. I'll be like. mourning the death of Sim Grandpa. And all of a sudden 6-year-old Sim Grandson will "identify the Perch!" Multiple daily calls for sim to switch careers - CONSTANTLY. EVEN WITH PHONE ON SILENT MODE! Excessive use of Cross Stitch Basket - yep. I get it the worst with cross stitch, but I find it annoying that other hobbies which cost money like knitting and painting are autonomous as well. Either there should be a "practice" object which is the default and is free or this stuff shouldn't be autonomous. Food too tbh
I have tried playing rags to riches before, and one reason I gave up was just this - it was so hard to keep control of finances because sims have no concept of saving pennies lol Railings Clipping Through Walls - hate this so ugly Multi-story columns misaligned Foundation becomes see-through Sim Gets Fear of the Dark After Being Cured - all the fears and wants sucked. they're boring, curing then is boring, they have little impact except just ruining your sims day, and YEAH, they come back after being cured!! best to turn it off just like neighborhood stories Constantly dirty surroundings moodlet from Pressure Cooker and Kettle - I'm not 100% sure I've got this one, I will check the next time I play. However I've had multiple issues with these objects: sims constantly cooking with them when their queue is empty, and constant fires originating with them. Lately my sims was complaining her kitchen was dirty but I could not find anything dirty. She's a Neat sim, but even after having her clean everything, and then going into build mode and moving stuff to look for plates that might have gotten stuck under objects and are hard to see, the room still registered as dirty. I'm thinking it was the pressure cooker or kettle, or maybe even pizza oven which she also has Upgraded beds give two contradictory moodlets - yup spend hours upgrading your bed and the sims like "what a bad sleep!" Sims on home lot don't take care of needs when active sims away - yeah two sims in my house recently almost starved bc of this NPCs take food ordered by active Sim - yup! again ruining my rages to riches haha No evolve option (ready to evolve) - yes and yes I've checked that the plants are in season. Also having major issues with other gardening things especially on community lots Very High Household Bills While On Vacation Campfire causes too many fires - really frustrating for me bc I use the campfire a lot. I absolutely love camping gameplay but between constant fires and thunderstorms where you're 100% guaranteed to get electrocuted (9_9) it really sucks

So am I the only one who gets kind of annoyed whenever people act like emulation on PC is the be-all, end-all solution that nobody has any excuse to not try?
Like don't get me wrong, long live emulation! It's just people going, "Why would you buy that re-release? Just boot up your computer and play it in 5K on Dolphin!"
I don't know if you can tell, but I only got a computer better than a Chromebook just last year, a pretty good $700 (I think refurbished but still very new) Windows 11 laptop, and yet it runs stuff as simple as Citra and Dolphin like absolute dogcrap, especially if, higher powers forbid, I want any resolution better than 480p. Heck, it can barely even do decent N64 emulation. And that's without even mentioning all the controller complications.
Not to mention, maybe they just don't have the space for a good PC setup or just inherently don't sitting at a desk to play games for hours at a time. I have warmed up to playing on this laptop lately (in case you couldn't tell from me playing through those Sonic fan remasters), but even so, I'd be lying if I said I'd rather be playing them on PC compared to on the TV or even a handheld console. And my desk is in no shape or position for a beefy PC with the nearest outlet so far away from it, so there goes upgrading to that even if my family and I had so much money to burn. (Although again, still a good laptop that I don't really regret having.)
Again, emulation rules and I can still get some good homebrew use out of this computer, but I'm just annoyed when people act like you'd be stupid to not go all in on PC emulation when, newsflash, it isn't exactly plug-and-play (though of course not to excuse when the kinds of re-releases I mentioned are lazy and/or overpriced - looking at you, Nintendo).
Then again, I also have a homebrewed 3DS and Wii U, making basically every pre-Switch Nintendo system besides the N64 (which even then I have Expanded Switch Online for at least the next eight months simply for not knowing when to turn off auto-pay in time, although I barely use it and the release pace is horrifically bad and greedy) fair game alongside tons of older stuff, so I could definitely be having it worse.

We have reached the start of a new year in The Chill Save (which is now SO wrongly named XD) -- first day of Spring all over again! And, as promised last time, after seeing just how small the Willow Creek Victorian really was (I mean, to be fair, it is classed as a “starter home” on the Gallery), after letting Victor and Alice get a bit of sleep and Smiler upgrade their phone colors and get in a little last-minute figure painting (which actually caused them to fulfill their resolution to raise a skill, nice -- up to Painting 4 now!), I moved the lot of them to their new home in Henford-on-Bagley -- my custom “abandoned spooky farmhouse” build, 2 Olde Mill Lane (Haunted)!
It then took me like three play sessions to properly furnish it. XD Look, not only did they bring a lot of stuff with them -- including a lot of things that needed to be displayed -- there was a lot of stuff I wanted to added to the lot itself! Like crafting stuff in the barn! A greenhouse for the garden! Various shelves and cabinets for all the stuff that needed to be displayed!
And then I went to take pictures and remembered “oh yeah -- this lot’s Off The Grid. The lights don’t work until you build up enough power.” *facepalm* So yeah, that’s why all the pictures in this particular photoset are so dark. Hopefully you can still get a decent look at what’s what, but let me give you the highlights:
First floor: You come in up the big front porch, which has the original easel and Smiler’s bar, into the little “entrance hall.” From there you can go left into the living room -- with nicer bookshelves, the TV, a sitting area in front of the fireplace, and the A:MR gramophone -- or right into the sort of general “hallway,” which leads into the downstairs half-bath, the “study” (where the chess table, Victor’s piano, Smiler’s new guitar, and the insect collection currently lives), the little “mudroom” leading to the back garden, and the kitchen/dining area (displaying everybody’s best catches while fishing). It also contains the stairs to the second floor, and a laundry nook under said stairs (plus a display case for Victor and Alice’s Selvadoradan treasures).
Second floor: Another wide general hallway with Smiler’s party-won stereo leads to Victor and Alice’s bedroom on the left (with all their college grad stuff, Sims Sessions tickets, and desk and computer) with an en-suite bathroom; “Smiler’s” bathroom (containing all their bathroom stuff from their old place); Smiler’s “bedroom” (with their desk and laptop and all their posters -- plus Swirly the hypnofrog and Snappy the Sixam Mosquito trap; though instead of a bed, they have a yoga mat as I intend to get them into wellness now); and the spare bedroom that now houses Smiler’s karaoke machine. XD
Barn and yard: Back on the ground, the barn has the flower-arranging bench, the woodworking bench, the candle-making bench, and the juice fizzer in it, ready to go; we also have a greenhouse for those plants that need to be sheltered -- there’s in-ground patches for most of the regular trees; two Werewolves planters for the Tree of Emotions and the Plasma Fruit Tree; and regular planters for all of the regular small produce. The oversized crop patches are out around the back, and the wind turbines and water collectors around the side.
So yeah -- hopefully not too bad a start, as you can see! Or maybe not see. Look, the lighting situation in this house is going to be, uh, variable for a while. . .

Pairings: Natasha Romanoff x Fem!Stark!Reader
Summary: Natasha's been connecting all the dots about how she feels about you, it's up to her to how she'll handle the situation.
A/N: This was supposed to be a oneshot until... I wanted to base it on the whole Black Widow movie :"))
Warnings: none, let me know if there's any.

Your last interaction with your father didn't go well, he simply told you that Secretary Ross is now after you and Natasha after helping Steve, and Bucky to get in the Quinjet while T'challa was after them.
Quickly tackling the king of Wakanda on the ground, while Natasha shot something at him to give Rogers and his friend time to take off, as soon as the jet flew away, you removed your arms that are restraining him.
"Your father will hear about this, and you too Miss Romanoff." The exact words that came out of T'challa, and now you're on the run with Natasha, considered as a global fugitive.
Your father looked at you with disappointment when he mentioned that Ross will be chasing you and the latter, you looked at Natasha before she took your hand and leading you out, taking you to who knows where.

"You miss your daddy?" Natasha spoke while driving, you chuckle at her words then resting your head against the car window. "Hmm, kinda, so what are we doing here in Norway?" You ask the latter.
"Well, you've noticed that Ross is after our asses after assaulting the King of Wakanda, and helping Steve and Barnes escape the airport, I believe we should lay low, right?" She propped her elbow by the window, resting her head on her knuckle as she drives with one hand. "Oh? I didn't know that." You replied sarcastically, making Natasha roll her eyes.
"What I mean is, why Norway of all places?" Now you're kindly asking, arms crossed over your chest and slowly drifting off to sleep, exhausted after hours of traveling, without Daddy's private planes, sports car, and Quinjet also.
Natasha noticed how your voice softens, a long yawn coming out of your mouth, and quickly glancing at you. "Ross has no jurisdiction here, his boys would stay away from here for the time being." She answered, you softly nodded and replied with an 'okay' almost a whisper with how silent it was.
In a split second, you're already fast asleep at the passenger seat, both arms hugging yourself and your head resting against the window. Nat maintained her eyes on the road as she attempts to reach for a blanket she stashed in the backseat, after few shifts in her place, the Russian managed to grab the cloth.
She gently placed the soft blanket over you, and now focusing herself on driving, for some reason, she has always felt this warm feeling in her heart when she's alone with you, adoration maybe?
Your peaceful state while you're in deep slumber, and hearing your soft snores as she admires the view of the landscape, she would offer everything she has just to stay like this most of the time.
The thought caught her off-guard, why would she want to spend all of her time with her friend's daughter? She shrugged the thought off from her mind, she knows what love feels like, she felt it with Bruce until Hulk decided to drive off somewhere they won't find him.
She did get sad because of it, but she chose to move forward and move on, successfully removing any romantic feelings for Banner, focusing on her work as an Agent and an Avenger.
But why is she feeling this way with you? Her heart melts when she sees you getting all excited when you've successfully upgraded your techs, how she would automatically smile when her eyes would catch you smiling, and how she feels warm when you're there to ease her mind when a mission didn't go as planned.
She's now connecting the dots, using the silence and peace surrounding her, she got time to think about herself and her feelings towards Tony Stark's daughter.

After half an hour of the drive, you slowly wake up from your nap, looking around the surroundings you're in the middle of the woods, Natasha's still driving. "Good uhh... Evening?" You greeted Nat with your groggy voice.
Natasha stopped the car beside the safehouse, which is a caravan and you don't mind, you can't really call your father to get you a 5-star hotel to stay in. "Did you manage to replenish your energy?" She asked, unbuckling her seat belt and you did the same.
Getting out of the car, she has her gun out and you also have one on your hand, staying alert until both of you heard a loud snore in the room. Natasha immediately returned to her relaxed posture before heading into where the sound belongs, and she found her contractor sleeping.
Kicking his foot that is off the bed, the man immediately woke up. "You're sleeping in my bed." Natasha commented, "I'm not even under the covers." He replied, then his eyes trail at you, awkwardly looking away noticing that the two seemed close.
"I've got what you asked for, fake IDs, drivers licenses, and some VISAs, also for Miss Stark too, just like what you've told me to do." He says as he handed out the fake identifications to Natasha, while reading, the Russian frowned upon what she just read. "Really? Fanny Longbottom?"
"That is a legitimate name." He defended himself, them Natasha handed your fake IDs, taking a good look at them and you're amazed about how real they seem to be. "Thank you...?" You softly spoke.
"Rick, Rick Mason." He introduced himself, and you shook his hand also introducing yourself, with little chit-chat soon after the man left leaving you and Natasha alone.
☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆
An hour has passed it's already dark out, you're currently sitting by the front door, knees up to your chest, and you already felt homesick, Natasha's company is nice honestly, but the feeling of being far away from your father and home sucks.
Natasha looks at you while you're way too busy gazing at the woods, she knows you aren't used to this type of setup, running away from authorities, and far from home, she felt bad for you.
She walks up behind you, making sure you're aware of her presence before placing a hand on your shoulder. "I'm going to watch a movie on my laptop, feel free to join me, I'm also eating the ice cream we bought at the convenience store earlier." She softly spoke before leaving you alone.
Minutes after, you finally stood up from where you are sitting and closing the front door, almost dragging your way to Natasha. Two bowls of ice cream in front of her, and her laptop already on, she was waiting for you.
You placed yourself beside her, head resting on her shoulder then she plays the movie on the screen, lazily taking a spoonful of the cold treat in your mouth, and eyes glued on the screen, but you weren't paying attention to the movie, you're spacing out.
"Hey, Y/N? Are you okay?" Of course, not, Natasha knows damn well you aren't okay, she thought that it's a dumb question. "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" You answered just like your father, she paused the film and causing you to look at her. "No, you're not okay, and that's okay." She says before taking you into her arms.
You're surprised actually, Natasha isn't usually the one who initiates physical contact but here she is, her arms wrapped around your body. You needed this, you needed to feel home and somehow being hugged by Natasha feels like it.
Burying your face at her shoulders then you knew you're melting in her arms, it almost brought the tears out of you, as if her touch is enough the lift the burden you've been feeling.
Natasha feels like home.
You try not to think anything about the affection she just gave, but damn, you think you'd go batshit crazy if you won't get to experience this again.
☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆
Let's be clear here, you've had a crush on Natasha while she's still Natalie, then as soon as Fury revealed that she is some secret agent, you were so amazed that you started liking her, though she didn't contact after that.
You weren't part of the Avengers initiative, but you did join them in the battle of Sokovia, but she and Banner have a thing going on, so you've decided to set those feelings aside. Which you successfully did for a few months, and after Bruce flying who knows where maybe you can make a move?
So you did, you would jokingly flirt around Natasha, and your father would give a questioning look then you slowly back away, but you were also a great friend to Nat, it's just that you can't seem to get all romantic with Natasha.
Just as much of a playboy your father is, that's all his, you suck at this type of thing, so Nat probably thought you're just a caring and affectionate person.
☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆☟ ⋆*:⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*: .: ⋆*: .⋆
You gently pull away from Natasha's grasp, and she looks at you with her emerald eyes. "Better?" She asked, placing a hand on your cheek softly caressing your skin. "Much better, thank you." She smiled with your answer, the next thing you know is that you're way too close to her, and you're looking at her plump lips.
This would be a perfect time to make a move.
You hold the back of her hand that is on your cheek, slowly closing in, and Natasha is leaning closer, so near that you could feel each other breathing, just when your lips were about to touch hers... the power died.
Nat cleared her throat and awkwardly moving away, removing her hand away from you and she stood up. "I'm just going to check the power generator." She says before going outside.
Her face turned red as soon as she was out of your sight, she got way too vulnerable with you, she almost kissed you but she sure knows she's going to like it but no, not at a time like this.
She tried to get the power back on, only to find that there's no more fuel in the generator, she came back inside finding you eating ice cream in the corner, and probably waiting for her to come back.
"I'm going to a gas station, do you want to come with me?" She asked, you nodded before getting off your ass and bringing yourself into her car, there's this awkward tension between the two of you, and as soon as she started driving, the silence swallowed the two of you.
"Can I turn the radio on?" You asked her, she simply nodded while eyes fixated on the road, you played the radio, and Sia's Cheap Thrills came on. "Damn, even here? When is this song going to die?" You commented.
Natasha taps her fingers on the steering wheel according to the beats, despite hearing the song over and over whenever you would turn on the radio, you still liked it.
Midway through the song, you felt chills on your body, and as soon as you look at the window beside you, suddenly you see an RPG heading towards the car.
"Nat—" Before she could react it has already hit the car causing an explosion, now the vehicle is hanging on the edge of the bridge, and with one wrong move it'll head straight down to the water. "Ooh, fuck that hurts." Hissing as you try to collect yourself and trying to fight the headache it caused.
Natasha on the other hand is in pain and boy, she's mad. "I'm pretty sure Ross has no jurisdiction here, and you should know that I'm a better shot when I'm pissed off," Nat spoke before firing few bullets at the person, you look at her and biting your lip, finding her hot.
"Wow, that's hot..." You spoke under your breath but Natasha heard, glaring at you. "Really? At a time like this?" She says, before heading out of the car when you tried to get out Nat stopped you. "How long can you hold your breath?" She asked. "Last time I beat Sam it was a good 4 minutes and a half."
"As soon as this psycho comes close enough, I'll push you into the water, it's not after us." She says you look at her as if she's speaking lies. "Nat, I'm not leaving you here–" before you could protest, you felt her lips against yours it was quick but you know damn well, that Natasha kissed you.
"I'll meet you down there, I promise." She says before a shield comes charging towards her, and managed to avoid it, yet it hit the car, now you're falling off the bridge and you suddenly noticed a small case on her hand.
You quickly got out of the car before it could hit the water, then you swam heading to safety where the one who ambushed wouldn't see you.
Closing your eyes hoping that Nat would come back to you in one piece, there's no way you'll let her die after kissing you, of course, you wanted to fight but your body just wouldn't.
You can't risk losing Natasha now.

Settling In: Elder Sister
Inspired by @i-cant-sing and their Yandere Todoroki Family series
There isn't a clock in your room. There is a bathroom but no clock. You don’t have a phone, but there is a laptop still on the desk. You could look at the time on there, but your curiosity isn’t worth getting out of this bed. The bed itself is absolutely massive, dwarfing you on all sides. You can stretch out and be nowhere near any of the edges. It’s the most comfortable bed you’ve ever slept upon. Knowing what time it is isn’t as important as the comfort this bed provides.
It’s early morning and the sun is just starting to rise. You know that much. Looking out of the window, you see the golden yellow sun illuminating the sky, pushing out the dark, depressing night sky.
It’s a new day, one filled with potential and hope. You aren’t immediately put off by living here. Sure, nothing will replace your parents, but Rei and Enji aren’t bad. They seem to be strict, but so was your last couple of homes. This is an upgrade, truly.
You can hear your door unlock. You turn to it, seeing Rei in the entrance. For a brief moment, you see a golden object much like the sun you were just staring at. Though, you blame it on a trick of the light. The door wasn’t locked; you didn’t lock the door last night.
“Ah, [Y/N].” A shocked expression quickly melts into the warm smile she gave you all of yesterday, “You’re up already. Don’t tell me you’ve been up all night!”
“Oh no.” You move to sit on the side of the bed. Though you had the ability to, you didn’t put the canopy part of your princess bed down. It’s a little babyish for your taste, though you’d never admit it, “I haven’t been up long. The sunrise was really pretty this morning.”
“I know; I saw.” Rei grabs your hands, helping you up and towards your closet, “Maybe I’ll wake you up earlier and we can watch it together.”
“Alright.” It’s your new favorite response. It’s perfect for situations you agree with, but have no other words to say on the matter.
Rei lets go of your hands and you let them fall to the sides of your pale pink nightgown. You didn’t really like this when Rei bought it, but you never said anything. You’ll try to stay in their good graces as long as possible.
“Now, let’s pick you out something to wear today while we go over house rules.”
She does exactly what she says she’s going to do. You appreciate her honesty, even if the clothes aren’t your style and the rule list is something you’ll probably not remember.  She’s honest, unlike prior caretakers.
You’re handed a white sweater with bubblegum pink hearts on the elbows. They’re about as big as your fist, with the heart’s point pointing towards your wrists. With how it’s made, you can’t see the hearts. They’re for other people to look at. That’s the epitome of your new wardrobe. You don’t mind it too much.
The matching skirt is pink and pleated, not unlike the cheer skirts the cheerleaders at your old school wore. The white stockings ruin the cheerleader image, but they keep you warm. Every room Rei steps into turns cold. Every room Enji steps into becomes hot. You don’t imagine that Enji is here much, being the number one hero. But Rei is here, possibly all of the time. You’ll need to keep warm around her. Shoes are forgone. You’re probably not leaving the house today.
She leads you towards the vanity. The warm lights are flipped on and you look at yourself in the mirror. Wordlessly, she does your hair. You look yourself in the mirror. This is similar to how your peers used to play with dolls. She does your hair and dresses you up without allowing your input. At least she doesn’t make you stay silent. You’ve already had a home like that.
“Umm
Rei?” You ask tentatively, “What are we going to be doing today?”
“My other daughter is coming around.” Rei replies, smiling at you through the mirror, “She comes around, once a week or so, to check in on me.”
You smile back at her, looking away from yourself and at her reflection, “Alright.”
Rei helps you up out of the vanity’s stool. She leads you to another room. This one is wall to wall windows, near the center of the complex. Waiting there is a conservatively dressed adult, with mid-length, almost completely white hair. Red splotches break through the strands of snowfall colored hair. You’d think it would be a bad dye job, but the family pictures on the wall show a younger her, with the same red splotched, white hair. You like her hair. It’s interesting.
“Mom.” The adult woman pulls Rei in for a hug. When they untangle, she waves at you, “Y/N, right? Call me Fuyumi. Nice to meet you.”
She’s inherited her mother’s smile and cool air radiates from her. Fuyumi looks very much like her mother, except for the bright blue eyes Enji drilled into your soul yesterday. They’re kinder, softer. She doesn’t make you instantly uneasy, like he does.
“Uhh, hi.” You wave back, “Nice to meet you too.”
Rei grabs your arm. Her icy fingers drag you to another soft seat—this time, being this room’s light grey, almost white couch. You wouldn’t want to stain or ruin this. It’s way too nice. Fuyumi sits in an adjacent chair. It looks almost identical to the couch and contrasts with her dark jeans. Rei wears dresses
“I’ll start breakfast.” Rei comments, “Will you be staying for breakfast, Fuyumi?”
“Do you need help?” Fuyumi stands back up almost immediately, “I thought you all would’ve already had breakfast. We could help! You don’t have to do it by yourself.”
Rei laughs lightly, “Oh Fuyumi, you worry too much. As long as you two stay out of the kitchen, I’ll be fine. And besides, you two should get to know each other. I’m sure you’ll love Y/N. It’s impossible not to.”
“Alright
” Fuyumi responds, “If you say so.”
Wordlessly, Rei leaves and Fuyumi sits back down. The sun’s well in the sky now. You can see it through any of the countless windows. This would look cooler, when the weather wasn’t so nice. Though, the sunlight warms the room slightly.
“So... Y/N. How was your first night?” Fuyumi turns to you, smiling once again. Her worried expression with Rei has all but melted away. You don’t know why she’d be so worried about the adult, she seems extremely capable. Maybe it’s age? Or it’s because of something you don’t know about, yet? Anyways, it’s not your place to add.
“Alright.” You decide on answering the question and not asking your own, “I got to watch the sunrise.”
“I did too, back at my place.” Fuyumi comments, “though, it’s not as nice in the city, as it is out here.”
The Todoroki residence is on a massive plot of land. Nothing else is here for miles. If you squint, you could see bits and pieces of Mustafu off in the distance. But nothing is in walking distance, certainly. They almost have you in the middle of nowhere. It’s scenic, that's for sure.
“I like your outfit. It looks adorable.” You fight to scrunch up your nose at the compliment. Adorable. Images of toddlers fill your head. That’s not what you wanted. Though, it’s out of your control anyways, as Rei picked out your outfit this morning.
“Thanks.” Y/N chooses to reply with acceptance and push the conversation forward, “I like your outfit too.”
“You’re too kind.” Fuyumi asks, “So
tell me about you? What do you do for fun.”
You answer her question, only mentioning things that you’ve been able to do this past year. You don’t talk about things you did with your parents. Those are firmly in the past now. They’re dead and the things you did alongside them are too.
Fuyumi never pushes an issue too long and she tries to keep the conversation interesting. You appreciate it. There is never a moment you feel unsafe or insecure. Other homes haven’t been this pleasant. Sure, Enji unnerves you and being dressed like a doll is weird, but everything else is alright. You’re able to overlook it—especially if the rest of your new siblings are like Fuyumi.

Sub Count
Whoops I had a small idea and once again it got a little out of hand. I tend to write more than I think I will so here’s a little treat I guess! Not sure if it’s long enough to put on ao3, so I’ll let you guys have it first.
Word Count: 2,279
Title: Sub Count
Premise: Dean and Cas have a little bit of a different life after beating Chuck. Cas has started a surprising new job and today he needs Dean’s help.
---------
“Dean, can you help me set something up?”
Dean looked up from where he was seated at the kitchen table, a half-empty beer slowly warming in his hands. Castiel was standing in the doorway in one of Dean’s old shirts. They really needed to go shopping for him now that he was human again, but Dean was more than a little happy seeing him in his clothes, so that could wait. Since rescuing Cas from the Empty, he has had to readjust to a life where he needs things. Dean makes sure he eats and doesn’t spend all day in bed. (That one could be a struggle sometimes; he has never seen anyone more reluctant to get out of bed than a newly human Cas.)
They have all had things to adjust to though. Sam was now the head honcho that all the other hunters called upon for help. He organized hunts and kept the bunker stocked up with rooms ready to go. To say Dean was proud would be an understatement.
Even Dean had done some adjusting after they beat Chuck and got Cas back. He helped Sam out with a few more hunts, killing the occasional vamp or stopping a witch here or there. But by now, Dean realized that he was just plain tired of hunting. He had given so much of himself and his life to it, that what he really longed for was a normal, everyday kind of job.
So that’s how they ended up here. Sam was always busy, either at the other end of the bunker or out teaming up with others to help out. Dean spent most days at his new job in the nearest town, fixing up cars. And Cas
well Cas found a new job of his own.
“I need to fix the lighting, Dean. It isn’t right for what I have planned.” Castiel deadpanned, not-so-patiently waiting for Dean to get up from his seat.
Dean released an amused sigh and pulled himself up out of his chair and followed Cas towards his room. They walked together, Cas being unusually silent.
“So, uh, what is it you’ve got planned that you need me to change the lighting for, Cas?” Dean scratched at the back of his head and turned his eyes away from his best friend. He was reminded of the confession Cas made to him not that long ago. The one Dean never officially responded to. His throat ran dry at the thought and he tried to push it back to the safe little spot it was usually stored away in his mind. He knew how he felt about that and he was sure Cas knew too. He didn’t have to say it. Not yet. Not really.
Instead of answering, Cas just swung his door open to reveal his current setup. Dean had been able to find him an old office chair by the side of the road one day at the start of Cas’s new hobby. Sam had gifted him one of his old laptops then as well. Since then, Cas has managed to upgrade a few things and obtain a decent microphone and camera. Dean never would have pegged Cas as a streamer, but apparently some people liked watching a man with rusty social skills play silly farm games. Dean thought it was endearing.
What he wasn’t sure was so endearing was the piece of clothing laid on on Cas’s bed.
“Uh, Cas, what’s that?” Dean asked hesitantly. He wasn’t even sure he wanted to know.
“It’s why you’re helping me. I reached 500 subs and this is what the people wanted Dean.”
ïżœïżœïżœThey wanted you to put on a maid costume?” The words came out harsher than intended, but come on, Cas.
“Yes.”
Dean blinked. “And you’re going to do that?”
“Yes. Dean, I don’t understand what is so confusing about this. Do you want to help with the lighting or not?”
Dean hesitated, but ultimately agreed. He had already said yes; it would just be rude to leave him to do it himself now. So, Dean stowed his crap and moved around the lighting fixtures. Cas had said before that he wanted something called a ring light, and Dean was beginning to understand why. The lighting setup in this place was crap. It’s not like Dean has ever had to worry about that before, but it certainly posed an issue now.
“You know, Dean,” Cas spoke up as they finally agreed on the outcome of the lighting situation, “They have also expressed interest in having you here with me. You are welcome to stay for the stream.”
Dean thought he was going to choke.
“Wh-what? Cas, how do they even know about me?” He wouldn’t admit it, but he would be nervous enough in front of a camera, but next to Cas as he was in that, Dean wasn’t sure he would survive.
“I talk about you a lot. You are my best friend, Dean.”
And there it was. The proverbial knife in his chest again. Best Friend. It’s not like it wasn’t a title he had forced on them, even after Cas’s confession. Still, it hurt when Cas talked about them like that.
“Well, fine then. I guess, uh, call me back in when you’re
ready.” Dean scratched at the back of his neck while he spoke, eyes averted from Cas’s gaze.
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to, Dean. It was only an offer.” Cas clarified as he pulled off his trenchcoat. Dean’s breath got caught in his throat.
“No!” He coughed, cleared his throat, and tried again. “No, uh, I’ll do it. I’ll just
give you a minute.” Dean rushed out the rest of his words and swiftly removed himself from Cas’s room, shutting the door behind him. He had to compose himself before seeing Cas in that thing.
Leaning against the door, Dean forced himself to think about what he wanted. He had gotten out of the life for the most part. He had an ex-angel living a few rooms away from him who was in love with him and who he loved back but hadn’t had the guts to say it. What the Hell was he so afraid of? Losing him? Of course that had always been part of it, but now? They beat the biggest bad you could think of and their days of running headlong into danger were over. His other obstacle was thinking Cas couldn’t love him the way Dean loved Cas. But that too had been proven not to be the case. So what the Hell was he still pussy-footing around like this for?
The door swung open from behind him and he stumbled back into the room, his back hitting square against Cas’s chest. They both tumbled to the floor, a flailing heap of limbs grasping at each other for purchase. They landed hard and Dean’s weight firmly pushed Cas into the firm ground.
“Shit.” Dean hissed, quickly rolling off of Cas and kneeling beside him to be sure he didn’t break anything. “You okay?”
Cas groaned. “Yes, I’m fine.” It sounded strange and he sat up, rubbing at his elbow. That’s when Dean’s brain caught up with his eyes. Cas was crumbled on the floor -checking himself for bumps and bruises- in the maid dress. It frilled above his knees, enticingly short. The small apron on the front wrinkled over his lap from the fall and Dean could just picture how short the dress would be if he stood up. The sleeves were poofed, a thin line of lace running around the edges to keep it tight on his arms. Dean could never have imagined Cas looking this good in something like this. It should look silly, but Dean was entirely sure he was liking it.
“Cas-” His words broke off as they fled his mouth. Cas looked up from his personal assessment to rake his eyes over Dean.
“Yes, Dean?” Cas’s eyes were stormy and Dean couldn’t read them. Instead, he inched a little closer. He wanted to say it. He needed to say it back. He had meant to do it when he first saw Cas but it never felt right. Sitting on the floor while the person of interest was dressed up in a maid costume was doubtfully the right time, but he had waited far too long already. He was done waiting.
“Cas.” He started again, more sure of himself. “I gotta say something.” Cas stiffened then and straightened himself up onto his knees, giving Dean his full attention.
“Dean, you don’t have to say anything. You know how I feel. I am happy with being your friend. I-”
“Damn it, Cas, just give me a second!” And Cas stopped. His shoulders slouched some and it hurt Dean deep in his chest to think Cas could ever think he didn’t feel the same. “Cas,” he started for the third time, “I don’t know why I didn’t say it back. I couldn’t. I don’t know. But
but I do. Cas, you gotta know I do too.”
“Dean
” It sounded like a warning. Like Cas was telling him he didn’t have to risk changing things if he didn’t want this. But Cas was as much an idiot as Dean if he didn’t know Dean wanted this.
“I love you.” He said it fast, pushing the words past his lips before his brain could think too hard about it and mess it up. When his mind caught up, he released a hasty breath and his lips involuntarily ticked up at one end. “I love you.” He said it again. And then a third and fourth ime. The more he voiced it the more it tasted like candy on his tongue. When he met Cas’s eyes, they were shiny, dewey pools gathering at the corners, threatening to overflow and spill down his cheeks.
Dean’s hands moved on their own. He came up and gathered Cas’s face in them, pulling his lips to his own and not caring how hard they crashed together. The heat of the moment was intoxicating, stealing every breath Dean could hope to take right out of his lungs. Cas was everything. He was human now and he felt like it. He tasted like it, he sounded like it. Divinity reduced into the palm of his hands.
When they broke apart, desperate for air, Dean could feel the tears sliding down his fingers.
“Dean-” Cas broke, his voice rasped and low, impossibly hungry.
“I’m sorry it took me so long, Cas. I’m sorry it took me ‘til now to say it. But, I love you. If you
if you still want this, I swear you can have it-you can have me, Cas. I’m so sorry.”
Cas let out a broken sob, lips curling up into a smile in spite of it. “Yes, Dean. Of course I still want this. God, I could never want anything but this; but you.” His laugh was chopped, but it made Dean smile nevertheless.
“Good
 Good.”
And Dean kissed him again. He was greedy for it, starving for his touch. He had let himself want for far too long and now that his self-imposed obstacles had been drawn and quartered, he was going to take everything Cas would give him.
When Cas pulled away, it was with a laugh- a real laugh, low and hearty and no longer tainted by tears.
“Dean, I
I still have to do the stream.”
Dean blinked. The what?
“Hm?” He placed a small kiss at the corner of Cas’s mouth where it was upturned.
“The stream, Dean. I didn’t get in this silly thing for nothing, you know.”
Dean leaned back and surveyed Cas’s attire again. Fuck, it looked good on him. Way better than it should.
“Would you still like to join me?” The grin held mischief behind it and Dean felt his interest in his pants.
“I uh
Cas, I don’t think that’s such a good idea anymore.” He gulped. Cas just squinted his eyes in that totally-shouldn’t-be-attractive way and tilted his head with it. Dean stuttered on. “I’m not sure I can uh
behave on a livestream if you’re going to be in this thing.” Dean averted his gaze from the smirk he knew would be resting on Cas’s stupid perfect lips.
“I see
” Cas trailed off, forcing Dean to look back in curiosity. He really shouldn’t have done that. “Then you’ll just have to come back when I’m done, hm? It was very difficult to put on. Perhaps you can help me out of it?”
Dean’s jaw dropped. What was he getting himself into? He ended up nodding, far too enthusiastically, in response. That garnered another toothy grin as Cas stood up. Still kneeled on the floor, Dean could practically see all the way up the dress and he averted his gaze once more as his cheeks flared red, taking Cas’s offered hands for help up. Cas walked him backwards to the door and out into the hall.
“Good things come to those who wait, Dean. So be a good boy and wait for me, okay?”
Every tiny bit of composure Dean had hoped to hold onto flew out the window and was replaced by a frantic, bussing warmth that spread through his chest like wildfire. Holy Hell, why was that hot? Dean strangled himself for a breath, to just swallow the lump in his throat and look back up at Cas. When he did, Cas just raised a brow and shut the door.
Fuck, Cas was going to be the death of him. But you know what? What a way to go.

may we have some wholesome headcanons for saeyoung as well please?
You want some nerd? You want some fresh nerd content so you can think about your man with a lot of baggage that needs kisses? I can work with that. GE SAEYOUNG TIME.
Saeyoung will not hesitate to do PDA. He will not. He will not take that freedom for granted. You've told him that it's okay to kiss you and hug you so now you've gotta contend with surprise hugs from behind and kisses on your neck, cheeks, forehead, nose, arms, and anywhere else that is not covered by clothes. If you close your eyes and think about how Gomez kisses Morticia in the 90s films, well, that's Saeyoung. That's what you signed up for, sorry.
No escape from kisses.
He loves to hear you laugh. Saeyoung will find bad jokes and memes to send you. You will get them on your phone constantly when you're away from home. He will just shoot you one and if you're in public, he'll pop up a CCTV just to see if you snort or laugh. He loves your laugh so darn much. He just wants to see you smile. He's also a tickle fiend and if you have that weakness you may want to bite your tongue now. He will not hesitate. He wants to see you shine brightly and be by his side. That means seeing you laugh so hard you nearly cry.
He loves to hear you talk about your day. He could listen to you tell him the grocery list and he would still be just as infatuated with you as he would be if you were reading a love letter to him. It doesn't matter if you're talkin in the circles or babbling, he just wants to hear the sound of your voice. He just wants to hear you. You will often talk to him when you're both in bed until either you fall asleep or he falls asleep. There's never a moment where he doesn't want to hear you.
Saeyoung can cook and he can survive but he's really bad at following recipes. He does things by eyeballing them and half the time it goes okay and the other half, it's questionably burnt and raw at the same time. It's just not his skill. Good old Vanderwood made sure that he was eating right and not suffering from malnutrition. So, you are gonna spend a lot of time with him in the kitchen cooking together and making sure he isn't adding extra things to a dish.
There will be no repeats of the dinner with the RFA where he peppered Yoosung. No comment on that story.
Saeyoung takes a bit of time to open up to you about himself and show facets of himself that weren't hidden behind the mask of 707 Extreme for so long. You'll be coming to get some water at three am and you'll find him knee deep in on his laptop and he just looks at you when you ask what he's doing and he just says, "I decided that it was a good time to brush up on Mandarin." He is the type of person that loves to know anything and everything that he can get his hands on but he doesn't know how to control his time.
That being said, he's awful at time management and procrastination and that's something that's going to make you pull your hair out. He can do all sorts of things but when he gets absorbed into something and he knows that nothing is going to stop him from doing that... well, he just won't stop. He doesn't know when to quit. He can forget to eat in the middle of projects. Bonk his head and bring him dinner. Make sure that he is eating when he's building robots.
Saeyoung takes so many photos of you. It's not a joke. From pretty selfies to ugly selfies, he has so much but they're all pretty to him. Even if you tell him to delete some, he's like, "My lovely 606 is never ugly! These are my good luck charms!" If you're worried, yes, there's a cute photo together on his lockscreen of the two of you. The ugly sweater ones are the background, you know, from the holiday party where he made you and Saeran do matching family sweaters. It was too cute to never see it again.
Saeran thinks it's deleted. Do not tell him it still exists.
He spends an awful amount of time adding upgrades to Meowy. She will often chime in loudly every single day with some ridiculous anniversary that he made up on the spot and you'll laugh. It earns him a kiss and a question from you since you clearly forgot the date and he tells you it's not a bother, he's got enough of love and gifts for the two of you. God, she also just gets to wander around the house and call the two of you out if you're both lying to each other about your feelings.
She's a walking cat call out post.
"HEY. MEW ARE WITH THE ONE MEW LOVE THE VERY MOST. DON'T LIE ABOUT HOW YOU WERE PREPARING FOR THEIR PARTY!"
"Meowy! Bad! Don't spoil the surprise!"
"Meowy, no!"
"Meowy, yes!"
Saeyoung is determined to surprise you every single day for a kiss. It becomes a game. It's like hide and seek but it's more like avoid Saeyoung or get kissed 10 times. It's a fun little banter and he thrives on it. You can't say no to his pretty face when he pouts. He's waiting in the closet today so be careful when he jumps out from behind the coats.
He purposefully dresses up in costume knowing what you like. O? You like his legs? He's got a skirt for that and now you have to live knowing that he looks good and he wants you to admit it before he gives you a kiss. Roleplay is a big thing for the two of you. Depending on how the two of you play, well, it could go many places that we shouldn't touch on here since it's not safe for tea.
Saeyoung makes a point of ensuring that everyone in the house, meaning you, him, and Saeran have dinner together. It's family time and he finds it to be enjoyable. He likes that everyone can be together and he makes a point of inviting everyone else in the group when he can and when it's okay with Saeran. He just likes knowing that he has a family... and that you're included in that family.

My Twitch Streaming Goals of 2022
I came back to stream yesterday and there was a lot of talk about what our plans may be for the next year and I’ve decided to dedicate an entire post on here about what I would love to accomplish next year! Follower growth:
I had quite the slow growth in following this year and that’s mostly due to inconsistency and the few months I didn’t know I had “followers only” turned on after a bot raid :[
Follow goal by the end of 2022:
1000
Consistent schedule:
Now this one is always going to depend on whether IRL life will afford me to be able to stream 3 times a week, my preferred amount of time so that I can edit in between those days!
Stream 3 days a week.
Stream quality:
I’m not going to bother to add a Sub goal as I believe that’s completely dependent on how consistent I am and the quality of the stream I put out.
Maintain monthly layout updates [for fun and to showcase my skillz XD]
Maintain laptop’s ability to run OBS despite having different scenes for my alerts [I’m gonna recustomise them once again which is gonna put a lot of stress on my laptop every time I stream Sadge]
Customised Alert Scenes
Modvoice
Customised Stream Panels
Monthly themed notification posts for social media
YouTube and TikTok output:
I’m going to try and have one highlights video out every month and upload the best funny clips on TikTok as frequently as I can.
A YouTube video once a week [art/edit/booktube]
Three clips or more every week on TikTok
Art:
Since I’m an artist, I want to make sure that that’s also saturated within my stream and all of my socials. So I’ll have speedpaints and progress videos out once a month or so as I plan to have two art pieces out every week.
Two art pieces a week. KoFi:
Besides Twitch, KoFi will get everything a day or so early, immediately after I’ve finished a piece of art or edited a video/TikTok.
Least: once a week
Most: one youtube video, art WIPs, and tiktok dumps
Content:
Duolingo [the easiest to stream for my laptop]
Art [the second easiest to stream]
Games:
Stardew Valley [consistently because it’s the lightest game I can play for hours]
MineCraft, Don’t Starve Together, Graveyard Keeper, and Sims 4 are games I will attempt to play more but the latency is going to make interacting with chat a bit difficult :[
PC goal:
If I can afford to keep the money I earn from streaming [I’ve been transparent before about how I don’t have the most stable financial situation so sometimes my streaming money goes into necessities-and I don’t feel bad about that at all] I will hopefully be able to save up enough for a stable enough PC that can run OBS smoothly and I can just upgrade as the years go by.
I’ll update if I’ve got more to add as the month goes. For today’s stream I plan on a havokk overhaul aka reworking all of the graphics from emotes to stream panels and downright to the theme of my channel, if you’d like to be a part of it, stop by! <3

Sunset Sound: God is Dead?
I might start updating twice a week because I am writing this story at BREAKNECK speed. this is my favorite chapter so far. enjoy! (special thanks to @friedchickenangelwings once again for sticking with me and my incessant rambling about this story at all hours during holidays)
Fic Summary:  Everything is the same up to the end of 15x20. Chuck has been “defeated,” but it was all a farce. When Jack absorbed Chuck, Chuck easily took over the 3 year old’s body and acted as if he were defeated. Chuck!Jack then had the Rusty Nail placed in the barn where Dean died, and with Cas gone, Dean didn’t fight it. Chuck did reimagine Heaven, but he’s fed the same lie to them all: that everything is perfect, they are free, they are in real paradise. Except it’s all an illusion insulated by blue skies and endless horizons. Because, just like the Good Place, people make Heaven into Hell for each other. And there’s nothing Chuck loves more than the natural order of tragedy. He “let it slip” to Bobby that he brought Cas back, when he really left him to rot in the Empty. Dean has to find his best friend before it’s too late, and he has to keep a happy face for everyone else, because Chuck is watching. Always watching.
“You know?” Dean shakes his head. “What’s going on?”
Charlie leans back against the bar. “Well, after Ash and I found each other-” they give a cute little nod of the head in sync, dorks, “through the frankly shitty wifi they’ve got up here, we got to talking.”
“Yeah, we realized some shit just didn’t add up. Like angel radio.” Ash spins around and ducks into his backroom, coming back with a laptop that’s way more advanced than it was last time. Dean raises his eyebrows at it. “Yeah, man, it’s sick, right? Charlie upgraded my systems, it’s bitchin’.” he reaches past Dean’s shoulder to give Charlie a fist bump (enthusiastically returned) and Dean backs off.
“Yeah, bitchin’,” Dean repeats with a grin. He’s too dumb for these people. But he sure is glad they’re on his side.  “Well, hey, show me whatcha got.”
Ash nods and taps his temple. He mutters to himself and pulls the system toward him while Dean watches anxiously. Ash pauses and looks at him. “Dude. Gimme a second? This setup is a lil’ more complicated than your blackberry.”
Dean snorts and gives him space, followed by Charlie. “Dude. you’ve been dead too long. Blackberrys haven’t existed for like
 ten years.”
Ash gives him a genial middle finger and Dean grins. Charlie sits up on the pool table and Dean leans against it next to her. “Listen, Charlie, I gotta. I gotta say sorry, again, for
” He clears his throat.
“Dying?” Charlie asks lightly.
“Uh, yeah.”
“Not your fault, Dean.” She shrugs, and she actually manages to look cheerful. Damn, Dean loves this chick. She puts her hand on his shoulder and shakes her head. “Seriously, Dean. Let it go! I have! Seriously, I got to spend a few years with my high school girlfriend watching Lord of the Rings - she was a cheerleader - and sneaking out to design some fucking world-altering programs with Ash! Being dead, for me, it’s kinda amazing.” She smiles at him. “Guessing you don’t feel the same though, huh?”
Dean swallows. He doesn’t know how much he wants to say about that, but being dead
it definitely sucks. And not in the good way. “Guess it just feels like I got more to do. Now, at least.” Now that Cas is
 and heaven is

Charlie looks like she doesn’t know what to say. Luckily, they’re interrupted before she has to think of something.
“Eyo! Sorry, amigos,” he leans over backwards to look at them. “Found it.”
Charlie jumps off the table and grabs Dean’s hand. After a few steps she shoves him with her shoulder until he bumps into Ash’s back. Dean bounces off his soft form and clears his throat. “Sorry,” he mutters, throwing a death glare back at his surrogate sister. She flashes him a smug grin before focusing back on the computer screen.
Ash recovers from getting jostled in time to point. “Yeah, so, we got word on Angel FM that this Jack kid is goin’ real Jim Jones over here.” He holds a finger up at several paragraphs as he’s flipping through them. “Preachin’ all kinda love and peace and hippy commune shit, but if somebody even questions it, he snaps. Naomi no-likey,” He smirks up at Dean and points to a group of cuss-words even Dean barely uses. “Rough translation.”
Dean shakes his head. “That doesn’t sound like Jack.” Jack, especially Jack-with-a-soul, almost never got mad. I mean, he’d spent quality time with Lucifer without blowing up. The kid is level-headed to a fault. “Anything else?”
Ash frowns at him. “Y’know, going through angels’ personal phone calls is a lotta work.”
Dean rolls his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, you’re a genius. Got anything else?”
“Ash, what about the human rumors?”
Ash looks at Charlie and they have a silent battle of wills, but Dean’s too impatient to see who wins. “What human rumors?”
They pause and come to an agreement. “Fighting. People fighting. Couples. Families. Friends. All over, since the reboot. People are happy, but
it’s like earth. People can talk - people can fight.”
“And?” Dean raises his eyebrows. There’s something they’re not telling him, and he thinks he knows what.
Ash raises them right back. He’s not about to divulge. “Hombre, this ain’t earth. People are supposed to be happy. If they ain’t
like a glitch in the matrix, y’know?
Dean grunts. “Anything else weird on the radio? Anything at all.”
Ash’s sigh sounds labored. He leans back in his chair and wobbles, obviously sorting through all the enochian bullshit he’s read over the past
 whenever. “Meh
 I got
I don’t know, God was singing?”
“Singing? Singing what?” Dean leans in, intent. If it was Taylor Swift, Beyonce, maybe Lizzo

Ash cocks an eyebrow. “Folk shit. Indie music.”
That’s what Dean was afraid of. “Shit.”
“Why? What does that mean?” Charlie grabs onto his arm.
Dean’s worst fears, that’s what. “It means that ain’t my kid. It’s Chuck.”
“Who the hell is that?” Ash stands up as Dean walks away, cursing every stupid atom that had decided to make this dumb universe. Although, he guesses, that was Chuck’s purview too.
“He’s god! God before the reboot I mean, the dick who up and left and only came back to screw me and Sam over. Fuck, I thought we’d finally gotten out from under his thumb! Now, apparently, he’s just using my kid for his meat-suit.” Dean takes a deep breath. This is bad. Worse than bad-bad.
“So
what do we do? How do we nuke God?” Charlie asks the question like it’s normal, just another Saturday afternoon.
Dean thumps his forehead onto the nearest table. Sure, sure, good, great. They were back to square fucking one. “I don’t fucking know,”
“Alright, break it down. We need more mojo, right? How do we get more mojo?”
“Well, angels are the next best thing, right? Maybe if we get them all together, they’re obviously not psyched about folk-God, or whatever,”
Ash points at her like she’s a genius. “Alright, yeah!”
“Guys, there aren’t enough angels left to even try.” Dean feels hopeless. There’s nothing to do. They are literally out of options. There’s no hope.
“Well, where can we get some more angels, then?”
Dean stands up. “I know a place.” His heart feels like it’s being squeezed like a lemon. It’s a crazy idea. It’s practically impossible. And probably suicide. And he’s gotta find a way. “We gotta break open the Empty.”
“The Empty?” Ash looks skeptical. Dean smirks.
“Yeah, angel/demon afterlife. We punch our way in there and we’ve got juice for days, man.” He spreads his arms out, asks the question.
Ash glances at Charlie then back at Dean. He sniffs and nods. “I’m in.”
Dean looks to Charlie, who scoffs. “Duh. Of course. So what, we get in and say pretty please help us kill your dad?”
A warm feeling spreads through Dean’s chest. “Well, we’ll have a little help on the inside. Cas.”
“Castiel? The angel dude?”
“He’s dead?” Charlie’s voice has much more concern than Ash’s. Dean nods in response to both questions. It still makes him feel like he’s swallowing glass to think about it. “What happened?”
Dean looks down at his boots. It’s only the scene that keeps playing on repeat behind his eyelids. Cas crying, holding onto his shoulder, telling him
telling him goodbye. Telling him that. “He saved me.” he starts, expression guarded. “He made a deal.”
Ash grunts and nods, ready to drop it. Charlie stays quiet too, but she clearly wants to say something. Dean’s thankful for the drop. He doesn’t know what he’d say if they asked more. All he knows is that he needs Cas back. And he needs to talk to him. He needs to tell him that - that he wants him to just stay fucking put, damn it. That he needs to stop dying on him. And that he can’t just go and say something like that and then leave. It’s a bitch-ass move.
“Yo, Deano?”
Dean jerks his head back up. “Yeah. Sorry.”
“How do we jail-break ‘em?”
“Guessing we’re gonna need some serious magic shit. And since we can’t get to Rowena
”
Ash breaks into a wide grin. “Pamela? I’ll give her a call.”
Pamela is “busy,” so they have to wait for her to finish up with Jesse before she can come by. Dean has to hand it to her, it’s just about the most Pamela thing in the world to put off their realms-saving work for a heavenly hookup. Dean hangs around talking for a bit, filling his friends in on the latest on Earth, but he can’t concentrate. Ever since they’d decided the next thing is to get into the Empty, he can’t relax. He takes his beer and goes outside to wait, settling down on the Roadhouse’s front step to watch for Pamela.
After a bit, Charlie plops down next to him, a soft grin on her lips. He returns it half-heartedly before looking out across the clearing. She leans her head against his shoulder. A few minutes pass in comfortable silence before she turns into him. “So we gotta get into the Empty.” she sighs. Dean nods glumly. Just his fucking luck. Even heaven is ruined. But at least
at least they’ve got a shot. “And get Castiel.”
Dean frowns and pulls away to look at her. Maybe it’s just his paranoia, but he hears some deeper meaning in her voice. “The guy died for me. I gotta,” he presses his lips together, hating himself for the half-lie he’s telling. Cas deserves better. Charlie just nods and watches, like she’s waiting for him to keep going. When he manages to talk again, his voice cracks. “We gotta get him, Charlie.”
Charlie pulls him into a side hug. “I always said he was dreamy, that angel.” She points out. Dean snorts. He remembers. He’d blushed like an idiot after she said that the first time.
“Yeah.” He mutters. Okay, so she knows. That he and Cas are
 that Dean’s
good. Cas deserves recognition. He deserves someone to talk about him. For Dean to talk about him. But then Charlie just hasn’t spoken, and he feels like he needs some explanation. “I
there were other guys, before him.” He continues, clearing his throat. His mind wanders to Benny and Lee, Crowley. “But he’s
 he’s it.”
He risks a look at Charlie and she is just staring at him with a fond smile. She surges forward and kisses his cheek, squealing. “Yes, I fucking knew it, you bisexual dumbass! Bi, right?”
Dean laughs. “Yeah, I guess- wait, you knew?”
Charlie looks around, like Dean’s a dumbass it was so obvious. “Well, yeah, dude. Game recognize game.” She motions between the two of them and he scoffs. That’s right. Gaydar. That would’ve been nice to have for the last, oh, 12 years? “We’ll get him back.”
Dean pulls Charlie in for another hug and leaves her tucked under his arm until a motorcycle pulls up and Pamela gets off, shaking her hair loose like a blind slow-motion model in a porno. She grins at the pair on the steps like she can see them. “Take a picture, you two. It’ll last longer.”
“How did you-”
She throws a hand out in dismissal. “Please, I can feel ogling from a mile away.” She pauses, laughing at the embarrassed silence Charlie and Dean are sporting. “Nah, I’m just joking. I do the hair-shake for a reason. I deserve a good stare. Hell, it’s half the reason I own this motorcycle.” She throws her helmet in the general direction of the motorcycle and greets her friends. Dean can’t decide whose hug is more flirty, his or Charlie’s.
“Alright, bitches. Let’s sĂ©ance some shit.”

Into i need help. I bought a oculus quest 2 right and i tried to connect it to my laptop and it wont work so I realized i needed and actual pc gaming setup you know, problem is idk anything about PCs and i dont wanna get scammed. Can you help me? Ive looked online and idk wtf im looking at tbh. Can you give like advice and shit lol 😂 love you into 💕
well i'm not a professional at pcs by any means but i've always had a huge fixation on them so i can try to help as much as possible and i'll even try to put it in simple terms. fair warning, i talk A LOT in this post because i love rambling about computers :') i tried to use the simplest terms possible since you seem confused but if something doesn't make sense just ask and i can try to reword.
it all depends on what you want out of your pc. and do you want to build one or get a prebuilt one? if you want my advice i recommend building one. getting a prebuilt pc is the easiest way to get scammed because retailers tend to overcharge and they think they can get away with it because they stuck a flashy high end graphics card and colourful lights in it even though it has shit airflow and they cheaped out on the motherboard and power supply or something like that. if you're going to get a prebuilt pc make sure you look at allll the specs and consult some online reviews to see if they're any good, and figure out if you're going to be overcharged. now i'll talk about building one. a lot of this will still be useful if you're considering buying a prebuilt though.
the very first step is deciding your budget. idk where you are but in USD the typical amount to spend on pc parts is i think like $1000 - 1500 (you can spend less but that's if you don't have a lot of money to spend and are still desperate to have a gaming pc). i'm spending around $1700 CAD (before taxes, eugh) on mine bc i want to get into more demanding games eventually. it sounds very costly but computers like these can last you a decade and are very multifaceted. figuring out your budget first instead of going right ahead and buying stuff is important because each component should take up specific percentages of your budget. another important thing to consider when deciding your budget is if you want RGB (the colourful lights as previously mentioned), because components with that capability are slightly more expensive.
after deciding your budget, your first move is deciding what graphics card (GPU) you want. the GPU is responsible for processing and presenting the visuals on your screen. theoretically it should take up between 35 - 40% of your budget because it is the powerhouse in a gaming system. you have two developers to choose from here: NVIDIA or AMD. from what i've seen people tend to prefer NVIDIA but AMD cards aren't bad and they definitely compete in performance. i'll talk about nvidia though because that's what i know more about. by searching up the oculus quest 2 system requirements it tells me you at least need an nvidia geforce gtx 970. this card came out in 2014 and is by no means bad however it is actually the same base price as a lot of newer cards. if you want to go better than the minimum requirements, first consider what your monitor is capable of. if you don't have one yet, consider what you want it to do. monitors are not considered a part of the budget i keep mentioning by the way. idk how much this matters to you since we're talking about the oculus quest 2 but i'm just kind of assuming you're going to use this pc for other games too. the main two things to take into consideration are max resolution and refresh rate. my monitor has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 144hz refresh rate. what the resolution means is that there are 2,073,600 pixels in the screen, and can go up to a resolution of 1080p in video games. the refresh rate means the monitor can refresh the picture on the screen 144 times a second, therefore can show a max of 144 frames per second in a video game. to put that in to perspective, most screens have a refresh rate of 60hz, such as regular laptop screens, iphone screens, etc.. monitors come in mainly 60hz, 75hz, 144hz, and 165hz, and for resolution they mainly come in 1080p, 1440p, and 4k. seeing as i don't have any plans on upgrading my monitor any time soon, dropping extra money on a GPU that can achieve more than 144fps and 1440p/4k would be pointless. but forget about the monitor, the oculus quest 2 has a max refresh rate of 120hz and its resolution lies somewhere between 1080p and 1440p. if you know what kind of games you're going to be playing, look up how they perform with different kinds of cards. i'm fairly certain anything above an nvidia geforce rtx 3070 would be pointless because of your display limits, and anything below the nvidia geforce gtx 970 simply won't be enough for the system. you can look at all the GPUs ranked here. after deciding which GPU you want you need to figure out which brand of it you want (NVIDIA themselves, asus, gigabyte, evga, etc), because they all perform at slightly different levels, although the difference is usually only a few frames so it's better to save money. something to watch out for is the quality of the fans in the GPU because if they aren't good, it will overheat and underperform. i'm aiming to get a 3060 or 3060 ti, if that helps. the only problem is that there is currently a worldwide GPU shortage due to covid, tariffs, and the cryptocurrency mining boom (gpus are used in bulk to mine). fortunately there is currently a crypto mining crackdown happening in china, where majority of mining in the world happens, so the demand for GPUs will hopefully start going down soon. you wont be able to build your pc right away but the market is looking better than it has in awhile. this is just about the only argument i have in favor of getting a prebuilt pc, because they have GPUs in them and are more readily available. i don't think that's a good enough reason though especially since part of the reason i'm building my pc is because it looks fun lol. another thing to note is that you should not overspend on your GPU. the shortage has caused a lot of GPU prices to skyrocket into the $2k-3k range but none of them should be above 1k except the highest end ones. when deciding on a GPU, search up the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). cards made by brands other than AMD and NVIDIA will almost always cost a little extra, but do not pay hundreds of
extra dollars. but anyways!! the GPU is now out of the way and is definitely the longest paragraph here because it's the most important part.
next up is the central processing unit (CPU), which you should be spending about 20 - 25% of your budget on. its job is essentially to retrieve instructions from the RAM and execute it. i suppose you could call it the brain. again you have two developers to choose from, this time between intel and AMD. i've had two laptops with an intel CPU and my current one has an AMD CPU and both are very good, however the general consensus is that you can get the same performance for less by going with AMD. CPUs have cores, and each core can run its own process. the more cores you have, the more your pc can think about basically. you can get CPUs will all sorts of amounts of cores but for gaming, 4 or 6 cores is all you really need. 8 is actually already a bit overkill. so you really don't need to get the best CPU out there. the one you get should depend on what GPU you get (hence choosing that component first). you don't want to bottleneck your GPU by getting a CPU that isn't good enough for it, but bottlenecking your CPU with the GPU by a small amount isn't as big of a deal because the goal is to allow your GPU to be used to its full ability. another detail about CPU is clock speed, which determines how quick it can complete tasks. the higher the faster, obviously. my (non gaming) laptop's CPU clock speed is 2.30 GHz and has 4 cores. the cpu i have for my build is the AMD ryzen 5 5600x. it has a base clock speed of 3.7 GHz but it can be maxed out to 4.6 GHz, and it has 6 cores. the oculus quest 2 has a minimum requirement of the AMD ryzen 5 1500x or the intel i5-4590, which is a little low on the performance list. but like i said the CPU should depend on the GPU. all it takes is a google search for which CPU goes best with the GPU you've chosen and you can find several answers depending on if you want the best possible performance, best budget performance, etc.. a nice little fact about choosing AMD over intel is that most AMD CPUs will come with a stock cooler, which is absolutely necessary otherwise your CPU will overheat (this is another thing prebuilts will cheap out on). this only adds to the whole price-to-performance thing. the stock cooler will most likely do unless you push your pc or want the build to look prettier.
next on the list is a motherboard, where all the parts come together in unity. you should spend 8 - 10% of your budget on this baby. it's easy to over and underspend on a mobo. the most important thing when it comes to choosing a mobo is that it supports your CPU. you cannot use the same mobo for intel and AMD CPUs. fortunately the product page will straight up tell you which CPU brand the mobo is meant for and will typically have two versions of the same board. it's important to note that motherboards don't always have onboard wifi, meaning it wont be able to connect to the internet via wifi and instead needs an ethernet cable or an external wifi adapter. if you can't get an ethernet cable to the room where you want your pc, you're going to need onboard wifi, or a wifi card/usb. onboard wifi mobos tend to be more expensive so it's up to you, but i personally bought one with wifi included so i wouldn't have to worry about it because our ethernet cables are in the basement and i'm upstairs. another very important thing about motherboards is that their BIOS version (operating system i guess?? idk how else to describe it) doesn't always support your CPU out of the box and must be updated before using it. this can present as a problem if you don't have another CPU to perform the update with, however some motherboards allow you to 'flash' the BIOS with a only usb drive as long as it's hooked up to power. there are plenty of step by step youtube videos about how to do this. i will have to do this with my motherboard when the time comes because it doesn't support ryzen 5s out of the box. don't let this deter you from getting a certain board as long as it has a BIOS flash feature. next up is what I/O ports you want, which are the ports (usb ports, headphone/mic jack, hdmi port, etc) you'd find on the back of any desktop computer. that is the side of the motherboard. basically just be aware of how many of each ports you want, and remember that there will probably be even more ports on the front of the case you get. the last thing i can think of right now is making sure your motherboard has all the headers (where you plug components in) you want it to have but i'll get to that later.
next up on the list is RAM, aka random access memory. this stores short term data. the amount of RAM you have kind of determines how much your pc can multitask. RAM sticks typically go up by some multiple of 2GB. most standard laptops and desktops nowadays will come with 8GB of RAM, which is enough for day to day use. it can be enough for mid and low end games however it cuts it pretty close most of the time. 16GB of RAM is the sweet spot for gaming and anything above that is pretty much overkill (and once again a waste of money) as long as you don't have a billion unnecessary background processes. a large amount of RAM is typically needed for video editors or computer programmers. you should always make sure your motherboard can support the amount of RAM you want although any good motherboard will support 64GB or even 128GB. the best option is to get a 16GB RAM pack, which will include two 8GB RAM sticks. splitting RAM between two sticks will increase efficiency. this is called dual channel. i also recommend getting DDR4 RAM, which is simply faster than DDR3. a good speed to have is around 3600 MHz. make sure your motherboard supports DDR4. you also want to be weary that your RAM is compatible with your CPU brand because they do have to interact for your pc to function.
next is storage. there are three-ish options here depending on how much you're willing to spend. generally you should spend 8 - 10% of the budget here. you can always get a good ole hard drive for the cheapest, however they are the slowest and physically biggest option, meaning whatever you put on it will take a bit longer for your pc to retrieve and open (they can load about 100-200MB of data per second). the next option is a solid state drive. they are a little more expensive but can load as much as 600MB of data per second and take up less space. the last and most efficient/expensive option is an m.2 nvme drive. these things are physically absolutely tiny and can load up to 4GB of data per second. anything you put on these will open very very quickly. the fairly standard solution for this is a combination of two of these three. personally i'm using one m.2 drive and one hard drive. the hard drive i have can store 2TB while the m.2 drive can only store 256GB. funnily enough these two drives are roughly the same price. the idea here is to install your operating system on the faster drive. this makes it so it only takes like 8 seconds tops for your pc to start up. you can also put any other programs you use most often on there (like your main browser and favourite games) and they will open very quickly, while the bulk of your games and other files will go on the bigger drive. that's all there really is to say for storage, just make sure the reviews are good on the drive you want to get, but that goes for any component.
next is your power supply (PSU). very very important to not cheap out on this. 6 - 8% of the budget should go to this. the function of the PSU is to do exactly what its name implies: supply power to all the components. this is where the website pcpartpicker can come in very handy. not only does it help you build a list of parts that are all compatible with each other, it will also estimate how much wattage you will need to run your pc. 600W is usually enough for a normal gaming pc. PSUs are ranked, and you should never really go below a bronze ranking. you can also choose between non-modular, semi-modular, and fully-modular PSUs. non-modular PSUs have all the cables permanently attached. this can be desirable to people who are confused by what cable is plugged in where but also undesirable as unused cables cannot be removed and make cable management harder. fully-modular PSUs come with the cables all in a separate bag so you choose which ones to plug in. semi-modular power supplies have the necessary cables attached and the rest can be attached need be. it all depends on preference and how much faith you have in yourself. i have an 80+ gold certified fully modular 750W PSU because the thought of unnecessary cable management makes me sick lol. corsair is pretty much the most trusted brand for power supplies. be careful because this is another place prebuilts will cut corners.
now for the case! this one isn't overly difficult to choose and mainly will just appeal to your aesthetics. it's less important to stick to a precise percent of the budget for this one but you also don't want to spend more than 8%. do you want a black case? a white one? do you want a glass side panel so you can see inside your pc and admire your hard work? besides that, you also need to make sure the case is big enough for your motherboard, GPU, and PSU. most info pages for cases will tell you the max size of the GPU and PSU and what size of mobo it's meant for. you also want to make sure there is a place to put your storage drives (unless you only have m.2 drives which are installed on the motherboard). you also want to make sure it has optimal airflow abilities. a case with no airflow will cause overheating. the best ones have mesh fronts and tops to allow cool air to be pulled in and hot air out. it's even better if you can get a case that comes with fans in the front, because they are what pulls that cool air in.
next is the CPU cooler, which i briefly mentioned. if you don't get an AMD CPU then you'll need to buy a separate cooler. you can choose between air coolers (a fan and a heatsink) or liquid coolers. i don't really have much to say about them and i recommend doing your own research on liquid coolers lol.
last but not least, case fans. like i said a lot of cases will come with front fans and also an exhaust fan at the back, however you might want more, or even replace the ones you already have with better ones. pay attention to how many fans your case manual says can fit and plan accordingly. check out reviews to see if the fans you want are quiet and efficient. if you buy a three pack of case fans there is a chance it will come with a fan hub. this makes it easier to control all of them in sync because the hub will connect all the fans to one header on the motherboard. generally 3-6 fans are pretty good for a gaming pc. two or three in the front pulling in cool air, one at the back and two on the top to pull out hot air.
now that i have all the components out of the way i'm gonna talk about RGB lighting. numerous components that i've mentioned have the option of including LED lights to make your pc brightly coloured, which is always nice if you have a glass side panel on your pc. it's an extra bit of money but i personally was willing to sacrifice that because i want to show off my build lmao. motherboards, RAM sticks, GPUs, CPU coolers, and case fans are the main components that can come with RGB lighting. you can also get special LED strips and power connectors designed for PCs. if you decide to go for RGB lighting, do try to stick to one RGB ecosystem, meaning make sure all the RGB components can be controlled by one program. RGB is controlled by your motherboard. for example if you get an asus motherboard you'll probably want to use their program, aura sync. most components can be controlled by any brand's program however if the motherboard itself has RGB lighting it can only be controlled via its own brand's program, along with the GPU. if you want RGB case fans you really have to make sure your motherboard has RGB headers (the thingy on the motherboard where you plug the fan's LED lights into). most motherboards will only have two-ish RGB headers so if you're going to buy a bunch of fans make sure they come with a fan hub, which lets you plug them all into one header on the motherboard. also, never sacrifice performance for RGB. specifically when it comes to GPUs. if you have a choice between a GPU with RGB and a GPU without RGB, always take the one that has better performance (given it's within the parameters i mentioned earlier).
that's all i have to say :) if you couldn't tell i really love this stuff. i will also recommend you watch youtube videos about this, you can see the build process and the reasoning for using each component, and also tips on what to do and what not to do. i hope this helps and wasn't too confusing. i know you said this is mainly because you got an oculus quest 2 but if you're going to get a gaming pc you should definitely consider games outside of the oculus too.
