Our Reasons

Pairing: Nathaniel x Marc

Summary: After the last akuma attack Marc has ignored Nathaniel the all week. Now, during the Christmas party at their school, the artist wants to make things right. He can’t lose him

That was Marinette’s plan, one hundred percent. Or Alix’. Or both, honestly. The former because of her undying passion for their destined collaboration – like she didn’t already have things planned with someone else –, the latter… an occasion to leave him alone to deal with an awkward situation, consequentially facing his problems? The roller-skater’s kind of fun.

And here he was, locked outside the school during the Christmas party, with no other company apart from some malfunctioning Christmas lights, a stray dog sniffing his way in front of the building and him.

Marc didn’t look happier for the situation, nervously rubbing his hands together. He still wore his typical fingerless gloves, even if the tips were completely red. His nose was stuffed into a fluffy green scarf, and it did not come out during the last five minutes spent in silence. He looked as uncomfortable as he was back when Nathaniel first meet him. Were they really all over again?

The stairs were cold. There wasn’t snow at least. Just what were the girls thinking? Make them froze to death just to make things right?

Was he really that hopeless?

“Hey… maybe we should talk about it.” Nathaniel faked a cough.

Marc shrugged, not looking up. His eyes were so lucid, hard to tell if for cold or the situation. Nathaniel was really glad his superhero counterpart didn’t have that eye color, or even trying to emulate that on his notebook would be impossible.

Alix knew better than anyone how stubborn he was on the matter, she had one of his street painting made of nothing but shades of green. No one even close to Marc’s. A challenge that costed her too much painting for losing it. She pouted for the entire week, getting herself together only under the promise to never bring up the matter ever again. She really couldn’t see it like Nathaniel could.

A car passed in front of the school, lights getting bigger then smaller as they got away.

“You have something to say?” Marc’s almost whispered voice was hurt and husky. Just how much he thought about it? All week? It’s been a week after all. Staring at the calendar every day gave him the assurance of it.

The Christmas party was continuing inside, the music was loud. Nino was probably having the time of his life. All of their friends, and they were out, in the cold. Alone. It was surprising how little he felt the unluckiness of it.

Nathaniel scratched the back of his head. Something to say. Maybe, but the right thing to say? No way to know it for sure. He didn’t want to make it worse than how it already was. What was really the problem? He just knew that, after the last akuma attack, Marc had ignored him like he suddenly disappeared from the world.

And it hurt. So bad.

Nathaniel cleared his voice.

“I guess. I mean, I know you’re upset. I get it, that akuma was huge, it basically destroyed the city. Trust me, I had my thinking about it too. But we’re both fine, we can get through it… right?” He smiled nervously, turning at him.

And Marc was finally looking back. Disbelief. His lips were slightly parted. He opened his mouth, then closed it. He shook his head. His eyes hardened, but he was fidgeting with his frozen fingers. It was probably painful.

“For a comic.”

Nathaniel blinked.

“What…?”

“Nathaniel, you risked your life for a comic book! That is not okay, no matter how much you pretend it is!” Marc shivered. “I just… do you have any idea how scared I was when you did that? I get it, it’s our work, but if it wasn’t for Ladybug and Chat Noir you wouldn’t be here! And you still think you did nothing wrong, this is why I’m angry!” He went silent, his face was incredibly red, his eyes reflecting the Christmas lights.

Nathaniel felt the world disappear. Oh. Oh yeah.

He ran towards it. While everybody was escaping from that giant thing, he went straight towards it. Because of a comic.

The akuma was just a middle-age woman that couldn’t get over the Christmas shopping stress apparently – he got the information from Alya afterward, it was good material for their comic series. A giant ant busy accumulating all the stuff she could find inside her, getting bigger and bigger, to the point she was devastating the city just by walking in.

When it happened, they were hanging out in the city. Even if neither of them was a never-ending source of Christmas spirit, they loved getting inspired just by the feeling of it. The invisible atmosphere and warm of the holiday.

It was something they had in common. Just another thing they had in common.

Then, the attack.

“I’m… I’m sorry.”. Nathaniel lowered his head.

The writer sniffed, hiding more of his face in the scarf. He closed his eyes.

“You put yourself in danger like that, without saying a word. Do you have any idea how scared I was when I lost you in the crowd? The entire city was crumbling, a-and I was f-frozen on the spot with n-no idea of what to d-do…” His shoulders were trembling. In his usual closed pose, he looked way smaller than how he really was.

Nathaniel felt a painful press in his chest. Slowly he reached for his hands, bringing them together into his gloved ones. He didn’t look up, concentrating on those iced tips.

“I-I didn’t mean to make you this worried.”

Marc shook his head. Tears immediately fell.

“What was the point? We can make thousands of comics together, one less one more, it doesn’t matter! But we won’t if something happens to you! What if Ladybug didn’t grab you in time?? What if you got hurt, of worse?! I don’t want that!! I don’t wanna be alone now that I have you!!” He gasped, like he got scared of his own raised tone. “S-sorry, I… forget that, I-I didn’t want to put it onto you.” His shoulders were shivering terribly.

Nathaniel felt his entire body aching. He needed to do something. Anything. So he let go of his hands and hugged him around the shoulders. His heartbeat was getting faster, he could hear it in his head, right near another really loud one. He closed his eyes, hoping that it wasn’t too much, that even if Marc was angry and shaking like a leaf it didn’t mean every bond between them was lost.

He felt a wave of relief when the writer reached for his back, leaning his chin so close to Nathaniel’s neck. He could feel those black hair tickling his ear, and the scarf slightly brushing his skin. It sent a wave of warm all over him.

Nathaniel smiled.

“You’re too nice.”

The cutest squeak followed.

“W-what?! I’m just…”

“For real. What are you doing with someone like me?” Marc definitely wanted to protest, but maybe his low tone made him quiet. “It came to my mind at some point. It was all because of Marinette that we ended up working together, otherwise we wouldn’t even know each other. If it wasn’t for our shared interests… for a comic…” Nathaniel swallowed, his throat was getting dry. He breathed, a white cloud came out of his mouth.

The writer moved his head a little, accidentally brushing his lips onto his neck. His bones melted all together, so he instinctively closed his eyes.

“What are you saying?” Marc’s voice got low and intense.

Nathaniel swallowed. After knowing him they spent so much time together. Being alone an entire week had gave space to unpleasant thoughts.

“I gave you a hard time accusing you when we met. I turned you into an akuma. And now I even made you so angry you ignored me. You, with all the people! The only reason I can be around you is my work, and that’s us! That’s the only reason why we are together!” Nathaniel hold Marc closer, his arms shaking. “So… when I realized I dropped the comic, I panicked. I thought that you were going to hate me for losing it, that you would’ve realized that there is no other reason we see each other so frequently. I didn’t want to lose you. And now that I say it it’s really stupid, you’re not like that.” He sighed. “I’m sorry for worrying you. I really am.” Nathaniel tried to break to hug, too ashamed and sorry for himself to keep the contact.

He never had a reason for drawing. It was his everything, hobby, passion, ambition, a part of him like an eye or a leg. Now it brought him someone special, in a way that made his heart shaking for fear and happiness. He couldn’t lose it.

Marc suddenly took his hands instead. His eyes weren’t gloomy anymore, just vivid, bright. His cheeks were completely red.

“You’re right. There’s no other reason.”

It felt like a slap. Nathaniel lowered his eyes.

“Y-yeah. I guess it’s just a fact, eheh.” Marc was still staring intensely at him. “What?”

The writer swallowed. He slowly moved closer, keeping eye contact even if his eyelids were shaking. The Christmas lights reflected in his green lakes.

“But I want other reasons.”

“Huh?”

Marc smiled, the world lightened up.

“I love seeing you and working together on our comics, it feels like I’m accomplishing something amazing. Like putting together pieces that are naturally meant to be close. But… b-but it’s not just that.” He looked at his hands. “Even when I didn’t know you I was into your art, it spoke to me, inspiring me to get better at what I do too. And I admire you for having so many good friends, something I always have a hard time finding. A-also, the thing about getting inspired by the city, I’m glad it’s not silly since you do that too! And, a-and…” He bit his lip, his entire face was the equivalent of a Christmas light now.

Nathaniel found himself in awe, unable to say a think, fearing he would stop talking. But he did, Marc looked stuck on his own words. The artist slid some more, brushing their hips together.

“Marc?”

“I… I think you’re really handsome. I-I know, it’s shallow! But I thought about it since I first met you, it’s what I really think!” He breathed out, sending hot air on their hands. “I’ll never get tired of working with you, I’m sure. But I want more reasons to see you, to hang out and talk… o-or whatever you wanna do, really!” Marc swallowed hard, shily spying the other’s reaction. “What… do you think about it?”

His cheeks and nose were completely red, his lips tense. His pupils kept moving, like he didn’t know where to look on his face. And the green. No grass, no mint, no pistachio. Even saying green oceans would be reductive.

Nathaniel felt himself on fire, from the frozen stairs he was sitting on to his fingers intertwined with Marc’s. His mind went blank. Is this really happening? A wave of excitement made him shiver. Did he really ask that? His face burnt. Is this going to happen? He locked eyes with the shy, terrified guy in front of him, so close he didn’t realize he was.

The artist reached for his cheek, making him squeak. No looking back. No useless thoughts in between. He leaned and kissed him on those red, cold and cracked lips. Marc’s hand gave him a hard, surprised squeeze, only to relax right after in a dreamy sound. It felt like flying with no body or worries. The winter wasn’t on them anymore. Another car passed through, the light barely touched them. The Christmas lights turned off for just a moment.

When Nathaniel found himself enough to step back, he looked right into Marc’s half lidden eyes, lips parted and still slightly humid. He smiled, and the writer mimicked him.

“I would like that.”

He wanted more reasons too.

Hey it is all cool! I have so much fun doing these!! Send any many as you want!!!

“ I see you still have that mutt with ya. Eheh here I thought you would’ve re-homed it. Poor thin’ looked skin and bones when I found it.”

Selma listened to Drayton’s remark, her fingers coursed through her pooches’ thick coat. How the pup pranced in place, just so happy to be there. Peering up at the man, as she remained on her knees leveled with the dog.

“ I couldn’t part with her. Once you gave her to me-- I tried to drop her off to another family after feedin’ her as much as i could (she liked my cookin’ surprisingly!), but she followed after me. I got very attached and my heart won’t let her go. Every time I think ‘bout it I get too emotional for my own damn good.”

Planting many kisses on the dog’s black and white furry forehead. Returning to her feet she gazed at the cook. That bright smile faded.

“ I-I am doin’ the right thin’, right?? I just love her so. She seems happy.”

“ There ain’t nothin’ wrong in keepin’ her, she had no family. No collar, no name. She would’ve probably wind up dead if it weren’t for us findin’ her. What did ya end up callin’ her?”

The reassurance soothed her, she didn’t want any selfish behaviors to cloud her judgement. She had a huge fondness for the canines and it has been over ten years since her last hound dog.

“ Dallas, it just fit. It felt right.”

“ Well Dallas is welcome ‘round here then. It’s been many years since we’ve had a dog on these lands. I grew up with a great big one named Butch. I was ‘round eight years old. He was grandpaw’s dog. Earned it’s keep by keepin’ trespassers off the farm and kept wild animals away from the cows and sheep.”

Listening to his stories were always a treat. There was a lot to him she didn’t know and certainly wanted to. Drayton Sawyer was a mystery and she never got tired of hearing his voice.

“ These creatures just fascinate me.”

“ Well I am glad ya like her, you stopped over at the right time. I would’ve been lost on what to do if it weren’t for ya. Heh.”

Selma took it as a compliment and she felt her face flush. Her ears felt so warm. Watching him interact with her new found companion made her heart skip. He was absolutely gentle with her, playing with her to an extent, while chuckling away. Dallas enjoyed his company too, her tail wagging violently.

“ Get it, girl, get it! Go get it!”

He chanted waving a stick before the pup’s wide eyes. Tossing it and watching her leap after it. Hand shielding his old tired eyes from the sun. It was moments like these that she just wished would never end.

“ I’ve been waitin’ a long time......but Mr. Sawyer--- I mean Drayton. Would you like to go on a date with me? I’d offer ya to come on over to my home and I’d cook ya somethin’, but to be honest with ya. I ain’t the best cook. I can make a few things, not much. It would be very insultin’ to ya-- being a cook and all.”

“ Huh? Well....I’m hesitant in acceptin’ your invitation-- you just don’t wanna get mixed up with me. But for now...I....uh how ‘bout I cook somethin’ for ya and bring it to your home? How’s that sound?”

She chewed at her bottom lip expecting rejection at full force, but this time he seemed to ponder on it and gave her a chance. While warning her. Batting her eyes it finally hit her, he agreed. Her face instantly lit right up.

“ Sounds wonderful! Oh I am so excited. You just don’t know that you’ve made me the happiest girl in the world. It’ll be a wonderful evenin’!”

Out of the corner of his eyes he watched her bounce her heels, the happiness written all over her like she was an open book. This eased whatever feeling he had in the pit of his stomach. Motioning her near.

“ Oh c’mere you.”

Arms wrapped around her, pulling her into an embrace.

OC QUESTIONS:

19.What does their relationship with their family look like? Are they close? Distant? Ect.

Laurie has a rough relationship with her adopted family. Her adopted father was constantly working and being a politician made him become a strict father. She has absolutely no control in her life choices. It drove her mad. Her adopted mother was more involved due to being a teacher herself, Laurie bonded with her the most. Though learning she was adopted made her grow distant and try to figure out who he real parents were. Her biological father died when she was a year old from a house fire and her mother was sent to an institution(being accused of the fire, even though there was no proof)- but recently released and she has gone to Mississippi several times to form a relationship. At this point in time she is very distant with her adopted parents since she moved to Texas. But she is attempting to build something with her mother.

40.If I wanted to draw them, what would be distinct physical features that I would have to know to draw them correctly?

For Selma uuuh definitely her shape, she is a chubbier woman. Her nose, it’s larger than most, rounder too and her gap between her front teeth.

So @maskedl0ve and I did a shippy questionnaire thing for our two muses. It was very fun and hilarious! Especially since they aren’t even dating. Basically Link found this girly magazine with dating questions in it and he dragged Claus along to answer them with him.

What was your first impression of me?

Link: Hmm...lemme see. Ya seemed so skeptical! Dunno if it's 'cause I look different or my enthusiasm...Either way, ya looked cute uvu ♡ Claus: Well....i was cautious, to say the least...I wasn’t used to anyone greeting me the way you did, much less a complete stranger...I thought you were teasing me or mocking me, or that you wanted something out of me. So I guess my first impression was just ‘Who are you and why are you acting that way?’ he feels a tad guilty now rip

How accurate do you now think it was? On which counts do you think you were totally wrong and on which were you right?

Claus: Wrong on pretty much all accounts. You weren’t teasing me or mocking me or trying to gain my trust so you could manipulate me. You actually...did want to be my friend. Despite what I looked like you were genuinely happy to meet me...I guess that’s a way to describe you, you’re genuine and kind and caring and brave, the opposite of what I was afraid you might be. What is your idea of a truly romantic evening?

Link: I dunno...Claus, do ya wanna take a romantic nap with me? Claus: Uh...I dunno how a romantic nap would work but...sure, that sounds good to me. I cant think of anything fancy for a ‘romantic’ evening anyway...just eating a cozy dinner and then resting

If I promise not to get upset, can you tell me something that you'd like to change in me but don't have the nerve to tell me?

Claus: is blushy from the last thing dream destination..? Um...I dunno...sorry Link: Trick question! 'Cause I don' got a dream destination. I wanna keep explorin' everythin'! Aaaaa, I nevah wanna be at a point where I have walked every inch of th's earth. Findin' new Hyrule 's a good enough answer too, I guess.

Which fruit/vegetable do you think I resemble and why?

Link: Either a carrot, for obvious reasons or a pepper. Angriest lil vegetable Claus: s t a r e s ....honestly, I dunno again. I guess a pineapple? I don't really think it resembles you but it's the first thing I think of when I have to think "Link and fruit” Link: I was expectin' ya ta call me somethin' green, buh pineapple works too

Link: Funny story 'bout that. After I left my home island the world was so much bigger. I saw so many new thin's...in other words, I liked them 'cause they were someone not on my island Claus: fidgets .....um.....well....he uh.....he...despite what I was he...cared about me, even when being shown what i was, what I could do, he cared about me and tried to make me happy...he wasn't afraid of me... looks to the side Link: He sounds nice !!

How would you characterize a perfect girlfriend?

Claus: y-yeah.... STILL TRYING TO HIDE FACT RIP but uh-- now this question um... i don't know..? wow i keep saying that... someone just...nice and caring, someone who won't be afraid of me or won't hate me, someone who...despite everything about me won't...think i'm a freak....someone who i can be around and...not be afraid..? Link: Never been on one! I'm probably way too much ta handle as a date too, haha. Claus: never been on one too.... just looking to the side

Claus: falls silent ......... in a next life..? ....in my next life...I hope I can meet you without all these broken pieces... and maybe...I'd be able to smile a lot more for you... Link: for once, he's blushing O-oh...ya know, I like ya jus' the way ya are now, right? I wouldn't want ya ta change. Buh, 'ae...it would be really nice ta see ya again...who knows what kind of dummy I'd be then. Claus: blinks a bit when he sees Link blushing. Honestly, he does want to change...he wants to be different, he wants to be better, he wants to be able to breathe without always feeling like there's some weight crushing him. He wants to meet Link like how he was before he had his world shattered. Claus: U H......U H HE ACTUALLY DOESNT KNOW HELP Link: ...Well for me it was fi--- keep it vague climbin' up th's suuuuuuper big tower! So high it probably touched the clouds! No one really believed in me makin' it all the way up. Buh I did it! Aw man, I wanna do that again sometime.

Link: Rocky road! Claus: hmm...I guess I'd have to say...sherbet? Junk food though....I can't really eat that much anymore without getting sick....I do like french fries though so maybe that? And my favorite dessert....I don't know. Link: Yo're so unsure of yo'reself

Do you feel alone, when I'm not around?

Claus: uhm......depends... Link: mmm...'s lonely out sailin' all the time. Go without seeing people for days. So...in a way, yes, I feel alone

Link: U-uh.... looks away I'd prefer not ta share...sorry, Claus. Claus: ..............I'm....not sharing either.........

Which has been the best decision you ever made?

Link: Leavin' home to save my sistah, definitely. Claus: U h...... DOESNT KNOW ONCE AGAIN ...........there's....one, maybe but....I don't want to say it

Which is the decision you regret the most?

Link: ears lower Mmm...I wish I grabbed his hand...I could have....I could...have...everythin' would be different... Claus: his expression becomes pained and he watches Link. He's silent and starts to reach a hand towards Link but seems to hesitate a little. ....... moves his hand back into his lap I'm sorry, Link... Link: hes holding out his left hand while the right holds it and rubs his palm with the thumb 's fine... looks at Claus with a pained smile Guess ya can't always help someone...I did my best though. Claus: he looks sad, though he gives a small nod yeah...you did everything you could, that's what matters...

If you won the lottery, what are the first three things you would do and which are the five things you've been most longing for, that you would buy?

Claus: There's not really much that I want that money could buy...I would more than likely either give the money to my family and friends. Link: Aw that 's sweet! I was also gonna say that. I have everythin' I want 'n' money 'sn't what I'm after. So I spend it on people I love~

If your house was on fire and you had a chance to grab only five things before leaving, they would be…

Link: Easy. My photobook, Puko 'n' my family shield. Claus: As long as dad, Lucas, and Boney are safe. .....My jetpack, maybe the book I'm reading and....and.... he trails off, looking to the side The scrap of mom's dress.... Link: Hmmm.... I dunno, somethin' that would upset me 's arguments. I don' like ta fight. 'n' jus' bein' around that person makes me happy Claus: i think it would be similar for me too. Fighting and the person I care about being hurt.... especially if he's the reason it happens.... and being around the person would probably make me happy.

What is your perception of how people see you? I.e. what do people think when seen you two together?

Link: The perfect duo. Maybe we should change that ta perfect couple Claus: I know what they think when they see me...I don't know what they think when they see us together. But...perfect duo? aside from the guards since were still on favorite scene i want to mention i really enjoyed the festival montage. it was nice seeing all the activities, and i think the fireworks at the end really tied it all together with some beautiful imagery

QUESTION 2. After discovering the supposed Akarna, things go downhill for the scholars at the ruins rather quickly. Do you think that Atawn will manage to escape? If he does, will he actually manage to make it somewhere safe, or will he be pursued and captured eventually anyway? Where will Atawn even go? Why do you think that Miakarna guard is helping Atawn, and will the guard suffer consequences for helping later on? Will Atawn’s records be of use, and if so how? What do you think will happen to the other scholars that Atawn left behind? Lastly, what do you think will be the consequences for the Miakarna regarding their actions? Will they spark a potential war, or will their declaration of the scholars being profane be allowed to stand?

Atawn's gonna escape, but probably be pursued as he tries to tell others about what he's seen. A man on the run! The guard is gonna join him cause he probably knows shady stuff is afoot and feels guilty just standing by and doing nothing. He seems like the thoughtful type, and he probably became a guard to protect and serve others, not deceive them.

hi babe ! its snowing so much here today i’ve been cold all day :( but i got some chai latte and made snow angels so i’m feeling a bit better,.. <3

i wish there was a way to trade objects or send them away!! ik it would spiral into hacking, scamming and would probably defeat the purpose of the game by making it much easier but still :( it would be nice to help out friends with some objects.. :(

actually the most annoying thing about mobile is the camera. it sometimes glitches especially during battle and i find myself stuck facing a mountain bc the camera. so i see why people might complain. also sadly NO :( i wish!! i have an old laptop i thought of using but idk if it can handle it. i think i wanna try it out though. do you use a laptop or pc?

i actually didn’t know much about voltron when i first started watching. i only knew about shiro because an acquaintance had posted about his gay announcement but i never checked it out. i actually got into it in a funny way... i was on yt one day and i saw a video titled ‘are keith and lance gay?’ and i was like who the fuck are keith and lance? then because i’m such a gay person myself i decided to check it out and i saw keith and was like... wow that’s a cute boy... then i saw their dynamic and said WOAH. and well... i just started watching and got hooked and i thought everything was neat and fun so i watched up until season 3 without engaging in any fan activities so i had no idea what people were saying...,, then i did and i was greeted with the shit storm. and the rest is history. but i can imagine it must’ve been so fun... the excitement of not knowing where the story will go and getting new content and being in the fandom while it was alive despite everything.... ahhh how did you find out about the show?

Director: In the last scene, the police and his father break into the collection room, right? There, he yells at his father: Director: "Father, this is all your fault!" I want that to be a little more intense. Can you try saying this line again? Nikaidou Yamato: Father, this is all your fault! Director: Hmm....... Again. Nikaidou Yamato: Father…. This is all your fault! Director: Hmm....... Haha, sorry. It's not bad, though. Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Director: Idols are really good at acting. This goes for Yuki-kun as well. Director: They've all got superb pacing. And because they're used to it, when they gotta deliver something, they deliver it with a bang! When you ask them to do something, they present it in a really good way. Director: Their expressions and voices are like direct attacks to the viewers' hearts. Bam! Just like a heart massage, y'know? They're so cool-- I'm always mesmerized. Director: But for this last scene, I don't want something that just straightforwardly tugs at the heartstrings. I want it to pull something out from deep inside their hearts and leave a lasting impression on the viewers. Director: I want you to throw away the skills you've honed as a master artisan and be more like an artist. That way you'll be able to draw out the true depth of the original work and be more persuasive as an actor. Director: For example, Chiba Shizuo-san's-- Ah....... Nikaidou Yamato: ......It's fine. What about Shizuo-san? Director: Shizuo-san's acting in "The Crescent Moon Wolf." That famous scene where the rōnin glares down the enemy group in the moonlit night, after his wife and daughter have been killed. Director: Everyone knew that Shizuo-san was good at striking poses. He'd give 'em a single glare, and then settle the scene with a bang. Director: But, Shizuo-san just stood still and gazed at the enemy. Director: The audience could only hold their breath, as if they forgot to breathe. They felt the rōnin's anguish, resentment, and determination-- as if they were their own feelings. Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Director: That's what I want you to bring out for the last scene. Don't think of this as entertainment, be less aware of that fact. It's okay. I know you can do it, Nikaidou-kun. Nikaidou Yamato: ......I understand. I'll try it out.

Director: Haa....... This sure is difficult....... Yuki: Director. Director: Woah! Yuki-kun, you surprised me there.... Yuki: I think it'd be better if you gave him more concrete instructions. Yuki: Telling him to be less of an artisan and more of an artist is much too abstract and extreme for a new actor. I myself would've been thrown into utter disarray, gone crazy, and burst into haka. Director: Haka? You mean that Maori dance......? Yuki: Yep. I'd be so confused, that I'd have no other choice but to try to inspire you. Be thorough with him, as you were with me. (2) Director: No way, it's impossible for me to boss Shizuo-san's son around like that. My palms were sweating just now....... Yuki: I don't think Shizuo-san would mind. Director: No, no. You see, one of my old teachers got a call-- from Shizuo-san. Director: Apparently Shizuo-san had heard that his son would be starring in one of my movies, and gave me his regards. My mentor gave gave me a hefty warning, told me not to destroy his reputation. Absolutely terrifying. Director: Well, he's young and it's a really crucial time for him right now. But didn't he get trained by Shizuo-san? I'm sure he's getting advice from him as he goes. Yuki: ....... Director: He's not? So those rumors about them not getting along are true? Is that why he debuted as an idol outside of Hoshikage? Yuki: ....... You won't be getting anything out of me. Director: Gotcha. I won't ask. Well, if it's Nikaidou-kun, I'm sure he'll be okay. Director: Both you and Nikaidou-kun are great actors full of potential. I don't even wanna call you idol actors at this point. Director: You never get confused either-- You're an artist, through and through. You're keen and sensitive, you go at your own pace, and you're lonely. Yuki: Lonely? Please don't say that. I've been working with my partner for five years now, and I'm also senpai to many younger stars. Director: Really? I've been doing this job for a long, long time, so I'm really familiar with people like you. Director: People like you are like flowing rivers, you see? Sorry for the wait!! both me and kuri were dying over exams (Esp kuri), and thank you as always for proofreading and catching my 102938129038 stupid 2-5 am typos!!!

(1) The eye type minami describes is actually just one where you can see the whites of the eye at the bottom lashline normally but that's way too goddamn long even for this bad luck + death flag fortune cookie kiddo. ALSO, methods is kinda shoehorned in for smoother tling of yamato's line in response to this.

(2) dunno why Yuki talks about inspiration here but Okay. Other TL things to note: Director. BOY the way he speaks is kinda fun, very much so an artistic type (nice metaphors bro) and very enthusiastic. I was a bit more liberal with his lines bc of that. Artisan vs artist: if you google you get “An artist is a person who performs any of the creative arts. This can range from painting to music. An artisan, on the other hand, is a skilled worker who makes things by hand” from the second result. Usually I’d go with craftsman but in this case, to up the confusion factor, I chose artisan. My brain also kept trying to mix Chiba and Shizuo and I repeatedly typed Chizuo instead of Shizuo LMAO I cannot stress how important it is to listen thru the story because holy cow, I love what Shirai did with the “father this is all your fault!!!” line! The text is actually the same in the story script, but I’ve reformatted the translation a bit so it reads like how it sounds in Japanese (love U shirai). Um also at some point in time I ended up in the youtube rabbit hole of watching haka videos!!! They’re so cool and also v addicting to watch, just wow. Wow.
