When you entered the studio, Rafayel was resting on the sofa with his eyes closed.
“You're back already? How was the meeting with your old friends?"
He got to his feet just in time to witness the pearl-like tears that were cascading from your eyes. You quickly wiped it away, but Rafayel immediately came to your side and held your wrist.
"What's wrong? Did someone bully you?”
You hiccuped loudly. Rafayel wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you into his arms. "Tell me. Who dares to make my bodyguard cry?
You leaned against Rafayel, a cheek pressed against his chest. His heart rate shot through the roof, then steadily stabilized. The sound of his heart pounding was what you loved listening to, as it soothed you.
Waiting for your sobbing to pass, then you added:
“Sometimes being around other people is so tiring.”
Rafayel took a small step back. His hands circled your neck and raised your chin just enough to make you meet his gaze.
“Are… Are you sick of me? You're about to leave me again, is that true?"
You had to giggle at the pathetic and sulky look on his face. Rafayel was drawn closer by your arms encircling his hips, and you said:
"No. I'm talking about my group of friends. As for you, Rafayel, you are not even human.”
“That's right.” Rafayel exclaimed as his face brightened. “Then you don't have to be sad. If you no longer have friends on land, you still have fish in the aquarium, and in the sea. Fishies are waaaayyyy better than humans. Especially a particular fish that knows how to draw, sing and make you laugh.”
This time you laughed out loud, cracking in the room filled with Rafayel's artwork. He was right; you always had him and the ocean for company. You did not have to try to please everyone, but just the people who were most important to you.
“Thank you, Rafayel.” With a little tiptoe, you kissed his cheek, causing his face to flush.

As soon as you left the practice area, you caught a glimpse of Xavier waiting outside. You did your best to conceal the tears that were ready to fall, but they were still visible to him.
“What's the matter?”
"Nothing." With a forced smile, you replied. Of course, Xavier did not believe that.
“Are your test results not good?”
He had got you, so you just stared down at the ground. You were trying my best to stay calm, but all you wanted to do was cry out loud in his arms.
Seeming to know that, Xavier pulled you close. His hand gently stroked your hair, pausing now and again to pat your shoulder as a gesture of comfort.
“I… I've been practicing for months… And yet… I still couldn't pass that test…”
"It's not that bad. There haven't been many Hunters who had successfully completed that test. No need to be so harsh with yourself. You did very well, and you are always the best Hunter.”
Feeling Xavier's arms tighten, you sobbed again. It wasn't enough to simply aspire to the top; you also wanted to succeed in every test and every challenge. Given Xavier's level of expertise as a Hunter, you wanted to show that you were strong enough to accompany him and shield him without letting him worry about you everywhere, all the time.
Xavier waited for you to finish crying before gently suggesting:
“You know, getting plushies from claw machines is also a way to practice skills.”
“You just said that to cheer me up.”
However, when you thought about the cute plushies waiting to be taken home, you suddenly felt calmer. Why not, when the most adorable plushie in the world was standing in front of you, eyes wide open as if he was pleading with you to accompany him to the arcade?
“Are you sure you want to miss the special edition plushies this week?”
Xavier asked. You replied with a shake of your head.
"Of course you won't. Let's go then. The greatest Hunter in Linkon cannot be outplayed by any claw machine."
With a smile on your face, you held his hand. You might have failed this test, but you already won Xavier's heart.

You did not say anything to Zayne the whole way home. Yet Zayne remained silent, concentrating on driving without even asking you a single question, even though he knew just by looking at your face, you had had a very bad day.
The intense work made you exhausted. You had been under constant stress for around two weeks straight. The number of Wanderers appearing more and more seriously caused you to take on extra shifts, but that was nothing compared to the paperwork you had to report, or the secret meetings that lasted for hours.
Somewhere in your crazy schedule, you still hoped to receive a call, a text message from Zayne. But when you saw nothing on the phone screen, your heart sank even though you knew Zayne's work was very busy these days.
In any case, you were grateful that he took you home and agreed to cook dinner for you today. You decided not to let your stress bother him. But as soon as he put the bag of food on the kitchen counter, Zayne pulled you back and gave you a strong embrace from behind.
“Z-Zayne?” You were startled and couldn't move because he held you so tightly.
“Now, can you tell me what’s on your mind?”
His whispering voice and his warm breath made one of your ears turn red. You were confused:
“You noticed?...”
There was a sigh coming from behind you. Zayne let go of you, then turned you around to face him.
“I didn't ask, because I expected you to tell me everything only when you wanted first.”
The number of patients visiting Akso Hospital has also increased dramatically in recent days. Regular overtime work was required of Zayne. Yet he still maintained a calm attitude in all situations. Every day and every hour, he always tried to be better, to save more people. You should do the same and become stronger.
You sat up straight to look into his eyes. A smile flashed across Zayne's lips. He lifted your chin and wiped your face with a tissue.
"Do not be sad. A smile is much better on your face."

2022 REVIEW AND 2023 Goals
Sitting here on December 31 makes me pat myself on the back. Wow, I'm taking the initiative to write this reflection! But I realized that I did not do this reflection last year. I completely missed 2021 in Review...and setting goals for 2022. Looking back through my photos, 2021 was the year that I (and the family) did the following things:
My mom and Celine's grandma took care of Leia for the first half of the year until Leia started at Montessori. What a big girl!
Leia started walking.
We took a trip to Kingston and Montreal to instil a sense of thrill, culture & adventure into the little one. It was cold.
I started a new role as a Product Manager, transitioning of the Product Marketing realm. It was a good move.
We bought bicycles and rode around the city, with Leia in the backseat. She loved the wind in her hair.
We got memberships to the Ripley's Aquarium. Leia loves fishies.
It's too late to go back and grade myself for 2021. It's irrelevant at this point a year later and looking backwards. I enjoyed 2021.
2022 was a tough year at the macro level. This impacted me as an individual, how I see things, and us as a family and society. This year saw war (Ukraine v Russia), strained political relations (overturn of Roe v Wade, human rights in Iran and Afghanistan), uncertain economic conditions (high inflation, high interest rates, falling stock and housing markets), and mass layoffs. In addition, not that it happened in 2022, but I've become more educated on the topic of climate change over the last 2 years and realized how humans are irreversibly harming our planet. All these events and realizations made 2022 a tough pill to swallow. On the home front, 2022 was a year of change and learning. I learned how to be patient (or how I need to be more patient), to be present, to be a father. I want to change to be a better father, husband, son, friend. I want to be a better version of myself.
RELATIONSHIP - A
Celine is my best friend. We talked about it today - if anyone asked me whether she was my best friend, I would say yes without hesitation, in a fraction of a second. I did a good job this year, prioritizing my wife. We spend more time together than ever before. We are together for almost every waking and sleeping moment, from the alarm ringing, to commuting, working (she literally sits either beside me or in the next room), picking up Leia, etc. I love that we get to be so close, and I get to spend so much time with this amazing human being. I admit that I have areas of improvement, to be more patient and attentive. I have and will continue to work on this.
PARENTHOOD - B
I'm still learning to be a father. Leia is almost 3 and in these years, I learned that kids are just silly humans. They just want to play and be happy. It's easy parenting during the fun times. The hard part is when the kids misbehave. I'm learning to be more patient in guiding Leia (and soon, Noah). I'm sure this will be an ever-evolving goal to work towards.
FAMILY - A
We did a good job in 2022 with family. Almost every weekend we see my family and in-laws. It was a good year building familial relationships (albeit this takes a toll on our own time as a family of 4).
FRIENDS - A
With the lockdown over, there are few excuses to not see friends. I continued to make efforts in this area. Those who reciprocate have been easy to plan for at park meetups or casual hangouts. For those that are constantly busy, I made a pronounced effort to create hangouts. These events were initially frustrating, but I am a firm believer that if we don't create these moments today, we will regret them tomorrow.
CAREER - B
I learned a lot at the expense of my sanity. For most of the year, I had to lead and manage a team without cross-functional leadership. While this was a great opportunity to demonstrate my own leadership, it took a toll on my mental health. I often felt like I was just working without a clear career goal in mind. I give myself an A+ for work ethic and output, but a C for clarity for myself.
TRAVEL - A
We spent two weeks in SoCal, exploring San Francisco, Napa, Yosemite and Silicon Valley. Leia loved it (I think!). Celine and I loved traveling again. It was great to breathe mountain air, eat delicious food, sleep in a hotel/B&B and fly again, all while figuring out the logistics with a toddler. Good job :) we also did a short trip to Ottawa.
HEALTH - B
I did very little in 2022. I blame some part of this on hurting myself on multiple occasions (e.g. bruised leg, hand-foot-mouth disease, cut my finger with a knife), but most of it was due to my lack of motivation. I found a rhythm in the Fall with the Peloton/Echelon bike, and recently began calisthenics with parallettes. 2023 will be a year that I rekindle my love for my body.
FINANCE - A
We met expectations in this category. Finances stayed normal, spending was not too high or too low. We continued to put money away, and save for the long term. That said, 2022 was a bad year for ROI as the stock market tumbled, cutting out a lot of the gains we had in our portfolio. We don't plan to crystallize these losses but it still hurts to see. I am glad that we refinanced at a low rate.
PERSONAL - C
I didn't read or think much this year. Compared to 2021 where I read 20-30 books, the number of books I read this year I could count on my fingers. I was not as proactive in 2022, perhaps because the year was characterized by many things to do, including house things, renovations, work stuff, exploring international career roles, parenting stuff, Celine pregnant stuff, etc. Yes, these are excuses. I should be more proactive.
2023 GOALS
RELATIONSHIP
I will be more patient, especially in arguments.
I will proactively think about and do what my wife needs or wants.
I will support my wife in her personal and professional goals.
I will be an attentive and caring husband, and try to be positive in the most difficult situations. I will listen first and offer an opinion if suitable in the situation.
I will be cognizant that my wife is stressed from taking care of the baby and try to relieve her stress as much as possible.
I will recognize milestones and also everyday events because life is short.
I will be present. No phones!
PARENTHOOD
I will be more patient with the kids, especially when they misbehave.
I will read 3 books on parenting techniques.
I will be present. No phones!
FAMILY
I will be present. No phones!
FRIENDS
I will strengthen existing bonds by proactively staying in touch with friends and recognizing special occasions.
CAREER
I will take control and find a path that I am passionate about.
I will consistently evaluate my skills and proactively find ways to fill the gaps, either through structured learning (courses), unstructured (books) and/or experience (asking to lead a project).
TRAVEL
I will plan a trip with Celine and the kids that is >4 weeks.
I will instil a curiosity, adventure and excitement in the kids.
HEALTH
I will workout >3x per week for >30min per session.
I will be able to hold the L-sit for 30s, 45s and then 60s.
I will be able to do a handstand.
I will eat more protein and vegetables, and less sugars.
I will eat more fruits and drink more water (at least 2L daily).
FINANCE
I will continue shifting the finances on a monthly basis to ensure that Celine and I are tracking towards our retirement goals.
I will spend less money on products and more on experiences.
I will cut back on impromptu purchases.
I will continue saving money for myself, Celine and the kids.
PERSONAL
I will read 1 book per month (12 for the year).
I will think about my life and plan proactively to create a meaningful life that I am proud of and happy for.
I will focus on inputs (what I can control) and less on outputs (what I cannot control).
FAVOURITE MOMENTS OF 2022
Watching Leia doing regular, daily things like sleep (and cuddle her blanket), eat fruits (like pomegranate) and dance.
Lying in bed with Leia and Celine on Sunday mornings, rolling around and eating pistachios and yogurt bites.
Riding the bike with Leia to the beach, and watching her kick sand around and throw rocks into the lake.
Hiring someone to cut down the two giant trees in our backyard. it was expensive but heck it was worth it to get rid of the eyesores.
Seeing Noah via ultrasound, then seeing Noah born IRL! He looked so much like me that I had to do a double take.
Going on a date with Leia (while Celine was out with friends). We went to the park, ate pizza and strolled home in the dark.
Going to SoCal and then learning I had hand-foot-mouth disease. It was painful, but I was glad it healed quickly so I could explore the coast, the city, and the mountains with Leia and Celine.

Luca Headcanons Part 2
DoesLast one blew up and I was gonna wait to make another before making this one but then my Italian fish obsessed brain couldn’t stop thinking and I literally couldn’t stop myself so let’s go, part 2!
Luca:
Has nightmares of what would happen if things went differently: If he was sent to The Deep, if he and Alberto were outed as sea-monsters before the race, if Ercole, Cicco, and Guido didn’t miss Alberto when throwing the harpoons at the beach, if Alberto didn’t come with the umbrella during the race and he was outed in front of the town and hit with Ercole’s harpoon, etc. He always wakes up terrified.
Apologizes to inanimate objects if he bumps into them or drops them.
Names everything he comes in contact with. Random animals such as birds, insects (even though he’s terrified), erasers he uses often, etc. They’re always random, silly names, but he loves them.
Is a slow reader because of how he fantasizes himself in the books and daydreams, then is snapped back to reality.
Keeps a dream journal!
Loves making stories about the stars and constellations. He loves the original stories, but he loves to make up his own.
Honestly I just get the vibe that he’s scared of birds after the encounter with the seagull.
His favorite color is purple followed by green!
Giulia’s mom buys him his own bike and he loses his mind, loving it so much
He’s a bit awkward with making friends at school, sticking to Giulia’s side most of the time
He doesn’t really care for music
He can fall asleep anywhere, honestly. He once fell asleep leaning against the doorway and then crashed onto the floor
Alberto loves to doodle on his arms and hands and Luca doesn’t really care to wash them off so they just kinda chill there.
He’s very easy to prank and scare
Oh you should see him around the holidays! He’s so excited! His eyes sparkle and shine, he absolutely loves the decorations!
He’s not competitive, actually. He just wanted the prize money to get the Vespa, but he doesn’t really care about winning. He just... Isn’t competitive
He is very protective over his friends. Do what you want to him, but lay a hand on someone he loves and he will tear you a new one. We see him in the movie just frown when Ercole makes fun of him, but when Ercole shoved Alberto, all bets were off.
Charts the stars
He doesn’t have one love language, he has all of them, but probably Physical Touch and Quality Time more than anything, or Acts of Service.
Drinks expresso more often than he probably should, but just to get through his schoolwork
Misses his goatfish more than he wants to admit, especially little Giuseppe
Allergies beat him up during the spring
Slowly gets used to cats with Machiavelli’s kittens, but he’s still scared of the chunky boy
A teacher at school made the mistake of introducing him to Shakespeare. He spent hours sobbing over a good chunk of the plays.
Because he liked Shakespeare, Giulia’s mom got him some poetry books. He was not a fan of Edgar Allan Poe or Agatha Christie or Mary Shelley, all the horror/murder type stuff. He loved Emily Dickinson though!
Is as terrified of losing Alberto as Alberto is terrified of losing him
While he isn’t as touchy with Giulia as he is with Alberto, he does get more touchy with her
Reads tons of books about cats, dogs, and turtles to give Machiavelli, Nerone, and Caligola the care they need
Hears about human farms and loses his mind, rapidly asking questions about how they work and if they’re similar to his own
Giulia tries to convince him that fairytales are real. He has nightmares about them for a few nights until Massimo has to tell him that fairytales are made up and her mom changes them slightly to be more... Non-scary. She starts telling them to him to bed just because she misses doing so, and then he can’t fall asleep without someone telling him a story.
Doesn’t do the handshake with anyone that isn’t Alberto or Giulia.
Giulia’s mom calls him “fishy” or “guppy” and he wants to hate it but he can’t
Hates it when people call him cute or baby him, but his family + Alberto + Marcovaldos still do it
Once heard some French Tourists and stared at Giulia and went “why is their Italian so weird sounding” and she lost her shit laughing
Doesn’t swear, refuses to swear
Tries to use Vespa stamps if they’re available
Once he learns what “Piacere, gioralamo trombetta” means, he sends a letter to Alberto which is just him freaking out and laughing while making fun of it. They don’t stop saying it. In fact, they probably say it more.
He has a map in his room with pushpins of where he’s been. Beside it are a bunch of sticky notes of where he wants to go with Alberto with reasons on why he wants to go.
Has a little bit more courage, but not too much
He’s often teased for calling others “sir” or “ma’am” and so he feels really shy about it but doesn’t stop
Refuses to call Massimo and Giulia’s mom by their names, it just feels too awkward for him
Makes friendship bracelets for the trio as well as separate ones for him and Alberto, then him and Giulia.
While he loves gelato, he doesn’t like it as much as Alberto
I feel like he’d dot the i’s in Giulia’s name with hearts but no one else’s
People at school think he has a crush on her but he doesn’t
He and Alberto still say they sleep under the anchovies. No matter how often he researches stars, he’ll always call them anchovies around him.
Sticks out his tongue when focused
Doesn’t like aquariums, he stares at those fish and he just feels trapped
Loves to dance in the rain
Does that little feet tappy dance thing when he’s excited or shakes his hands
Honestly half of his vocabulary is stern shouts of “Alberto!” “Giulia!” or “silenzio Bruno, silenzio Bruno! Silenzio Bruno!”
Speaking of, he can’t just say “Silenzio Bruno” once, it’s always him saying it more than once, especially when he’s really scared
He doesn’t have loud, aggressive sneezes, but he does have sneeze fits. Once he sneezed so many times that with every one his face got closer to his desk until it just went BAM and he has a massive bruise on his forehead for days.
Sometimes just goes into the water and swims to relax. If he’s feeling homesick, he’ll do some daring trick and then instinctively turn to smile at Alberto only to realize he isn’t there
His dad still keeps crabs but lets Luca name them. Luca chooses to name them all after space things. Mainly moons, but sometimes planets or galaxies
Secretly feels really guilty about Alberto selling their Vespa
After almost being sent to The Deep, he is terrified of the dark and can’t sleep without a light on, no matter how dim it is
Alberto:
Matching pajamas with both Massimo and Giulia! (Refuses to match with her, Massimo yelled at them)
Tries to see what triggers his transformation. Does watermelon? Does juice? Is it any liquid? He’ll find out!
Calls Giulia “Spewlia” just to piss her off
Those two are always arguing. Yes, he often starts it
Lots of tattoos and ear piercings!
Will into Giulia’s room, stare her dead in the eyes, call her a bitch, and run out while leaving the door open. She’ll scream at him and probably throw something.
Tends to shorten people’s names. He calls Luca “Lu,” “Lulu,” and even “Luke.” Luca does not like any of these names.
Still builds his Vespas! They’re not as fun without Luca, though
Takes Giulia with him sometimes too and purposely crashes into the sea or something just to see what she does.
Gains quite a bit of muscle
Is the one who takes down all the sea monster things with Massimo. He and Lorenzo carry Smuca to the fountain
Idk I feel like he has loud sneezes
I also feel like he makes that weird cough face like that one cat idk I just know I’m right
He doesn’t just sing... He scream sings
Doesn’t know how to dance but if there is music he will dance
Loves dancing in the rain too!
Sometimes he’ll just walk into Giulia’s room and gossip with her. They’ll make a blanket fort and grab some snacks and cats and just... Spend the night talking and catching up
She teaches him how to braid hair and now he just loves doing her hair
Bites his lip quite a bit. That’s canon but like, still worth mentioning
Learns how to ride a bike so he doesn’t get killed or something
Keeps a journal on things Luca and Giulia are interested in so he can learn about them. He writes down bullet points on what he remembers from conversations, but it’s honestly not much
He doesn’t have big dreams other than traveling the world with Luca. He knows Giulia wants to be a marine biologist and Luca wants to travel the world + is still figuring things out. He has short term goals other than that and changes the topic about it.
A popular headcanon is that Alberto takes care of the goatfish when Luca’s at school and I think that would happen!
He’s shockingly good with kids! When not working, he loves playing soccer with them by the fountain
He almost named Machiavelli’s mate “Frog” because he can’t name things
Half the time when Giulia and/or Luca talk about school, he goes “I don’t what that means, but I’m choosing to define it as ____” and won’t let them prove him wrong
Technically canon but he will bite. Chomp chomp.
When he meets Giulia’s mom, they love to paint together
He does make some friends in Portorosso, but none are as close to him as his sister and best friend!
This man is the most dramatic person good lord
Love language is definitely physical touch!
Still screams “Take me, gravity!” pretty often
Can’t do work alone without music. He doesn’t really like opera but he can’t stand silence, he just can’t
Sometimes he thinks of Luca’s betrayal and is really angry, but knows he’d probably do the same if the roles were reversed. It was about self preservation and the risk of living. He still gets upset about it sometimes, but completely forgives him and understands
Is always torn between giving Giulia genuine facts about sea creatures and giving her such absurd but lowkey believable lies. He wants her to succeed so badly but also wants to screw her over
If you give him anything, he will play with it. String? A toy. A pen? A toy. A literal rock you found on the side of the road? A gorgeous toy, thank you!
Never just goes into the water, he will always be dramatic and dive in or jump
Sometimes when not on duty, he just blows his lifeguard whistle because he thinks it’s cool
He loves yoyos!
Will noogie Giulia.
Sometimes gets scared that Massimo will abandon him, but it seems like Massimo always knows
Città Vuota is his favorite song!
Doodles all over everything, especially Giulia and Luca’s arms and legs. They range from little stars to tic tac toe games to fish to anything that comes to mind
Giulia:
Is very much into photography! Luca always does hearts with his hands/fingers while Alberto does stupid poses or flips her off... or both.
Hums and sings a lot!
Also loves to dance and is the best of the trio! Loves to twirl and vibe even if there’s no music! It’s just her personality
She doesn’t just hug, she jumps into their arms and holds them close
Sometimes just to annoy Alberto she’ll hug him and press kisses to his head and cheeks. Siblings gonna be annoying.
Always has so much energy but really struggles with sitting still for homework after such long hours in school that her grades aren’t all that good except for Astronomy!
The most competitive of the trio
Bites her lip when she’s nervous
Started wearing her hat to match her dad when she was little and now she doesn’t like being without it
Has probably fallen asleep in class
Loves watermelon and gelato
While Ciccio and Guido apologize for their actions, she doesn’t forgive them and doesn’t want to. She has every right to
Gets really into singing when she’s singing along to songs
Doesn’t like makeup for herself but will hold the boys captive to do their makeup
Loves puns! Will make sea puns to piss off Alberto and Luca, but Luca loves them so it half-works
Loves copying Alberto’s lipbite
Machiavelli her beloved <3
Loves her fam so much! She’s got pictures of them everywhere and is constantly buying them gifts
Speaking of! Her love language is giving gifts!
She’s actually pretty good at making friends since she can read people so well. It’s just that Portorosso doesn’t have any.... Great kids to befriend and Genova just has too many that she sticks to a small group which eventually fades, as groups do
She isn’t the most emotional but she also isn’t the least emotional. She doesn’t cry often but she does get sad and shows it
I don’t know why I feel this way but I definitely think she’s scared of the doctor
She used to be scared of thunderstorms until meeting her boys and the race happened. Now she associates rain and storms with that win
Summer is her favorite season
She knows everyone in Portorosso by name and knows most of their birthdays by heart
Speaking of, she always celebrates Alberto’s birthday like her like her life depends on it
Now loves racing on her bike even more cause of the race
Calls Alberto “Berto” and is the only one allowed to do say
A very light sleeper
---
More on the way probably they’re all I think about

Turtle Threats (a) (f) - Song Mingi
wc: 2k
Disclaimer: i know zip about 🐢
for this beautiful boy: i hope you are getting the love, rest, and support you need to return to the stage soon.
Tumblr media
“You’re late.” Your boss, Sunghyun, scowled as you entered the shop; he looked down at his watch: 19:12.
“I know, and I’m sorry,” you quickly apologized. “The rain caused the bus to show up late. I know it’s no excuse but-”
“I have to leave now. Don’t make your tardiness a habit, Miss y/n.”
“Yes, sir.” You turned to the lockers and changed into your work attire. “Late by only twelve minutes,” you uttered to yourself after he left. It was refreshing to remove your soggy clothes, but your body remained cold.
“Here.”
You turned to see your coworker, Mingi, extending his jacket towards you. He must’ve found this “late” thing amusing.
And he did, too. When your pale, wet body dripped inside, he couldn’t help but smirk at your dishevelled appearance. But, after seeing you hunch closer to your body, shivering, he halted his laugh.
“Oh. Thank you.” With trembling hands- no doubt caused by the weather- you eagerly took his jacket. A soft stretch of red eased across his face; seeing you in his coat gave him this familiar unexplainable feeling inside.
A ding at the front exclaimed the arrival of a customer. You hustled to straighten your appearance before Mingi placed his hand on your shoulder to gently stop you.
“I’ll get it,” his honey voice whispered. “Straighten up; you’ll give the tenets a fright looking like that.”
He had a point: none of the pets at Aquarium Den would ever want to see you fresh out of a “tsunami.” You turned to the mirror and huffed in defeat before pulling out your makeup wipes and washing the smudged makeup from your face. You brushed your hair with your fingers before deciding this was as good as it was going to get.
Mingi had everything under control, as always. The customer needed to secretly replace his child’s goldfish. Luckily, most goldfish look alike.
You focused your attention on cleaning the tanks. A soft melody played over the store speakers. It was assuring and made your unhygienic task seem easier. You hummed the tune while fixing the labels on the glass tanks. Mingi started the same routine on the opposite side of the shop. Aquarium Den was a downtown “fish mart” squeezed between a nail salon and card shop; the faint scent of nail polish remover and printer ink almost hid the unpleasant smells from the fishy occupants.
The shop itself was small, as all city-centered buildings were. At the front window was the register. Along the vertical walls were the tanks as well as some smaller ones against the back wall. In the middle of it was a median of supplies like tanks, food, etc.
A few other customers came, and you and Mingi easily assisted them. The last hour was quiet. Mingi sat at the checkout counter and studied his textbooks while you swept and mopped the tile floors.
“You have to take a break,” you chirped towards him.
“Y/n, I have an exam tomorrow. There’s no time for a break.” His voice grumbled back at you without even a turn of his head.
“Ok.” The tone of your voice was quiet and disappointed, though you doubt he heard it.
You and the boy had started working here at the same time. Both of you were uni students- yourself a photography student while he studied music.
You went back to mopping. No more words were exchanged, not even when you mopped around him. When your shift ended, both of you met in the lockers.
“I’ll wash your coat. It’s the least I can do to thank you.” You said while gathering your backpack and purse.
“Sure. Thanks.”
As he locked the door, you waved goodbye hoping tonight he’d finally return the gesture. But, no. He watched and turned the opposite direction.
There was something up with Song Mingi. At school, you never bumped into each other. You started taking the full walk around campus with hopes to see the boy. Today you thankfully did.
“Mingi!” He seemed to flinch at your loud voice; he stopped his pace and turned to you. “Hi. Wow your side of the building is something else.”
“I guess,” he shrugged and glanced at his friends standing further ahead. “Do you need something?”
“Your coat.” You bent to the sidewalk and dug his sweater out of your backpack. It was tidily folded in a ziploc bag.
His soft hands took the garment. “You could’ve returned it tonight.”
“Oh, yea. I guess I should have.”
“Not that I’m complaining,” he rushed to reassure you. “This is one of my favorites, and I appreciate you returning it so soon.” A timid laugh fell from his gorgeous lips.
“Oh, of course.”
“Yah, Mingi! Let’s go; class is about to start!” A friend of his called out.
“Ah, I should go. Thank you, y/n.” He smiled and waved goodbye.
You stood in shock at his ability to wave.
Every night after your only encounter at school was the same at Aquarium Den. Except for the part of you being late. You had expected a shift in relations afterwards, but no. However, some nights he would wave back at you.
You had had quite enough of this “one-sided” friendship. You were colleagues, yet it felt like he was trying to ignore your existence. After sitting near a turtle doing your homework for long enough, you sneaked towards Mingi at his usual post- the register- studying away. You reached over his shoulder and yanked the folder from the counter top.
“Y/N!” You had perhaps miscalculated the chance of him fighting you for it. Mingi lunged at you and snatched it back, but you were faster. Before he could raise it out of your reach- darn him and his lengthy genes- you grabbed it and raced around the store a couple of times until you both ended up back at your turtle corner.
“Y/n. Give. It. Back.”
“No. I want to see what’s been capturing all of your atten-TION.” You flow of speech was interrupted by you dodging his attack. Oh boy was he not going down without a fight. He jumped towards you but abruptly paused when you opened the turtle cage and hovered the paper over the reptile.
Mingi’s fight was useless, now. This was no ordinary turtle; this was Spartacus. The red-eared slider had an appetite bigger than Mingi himself. He could devour anything and everything in his path. Including the two-pocket folder whose fate rested in your hands.
“Let… me… read it.” You gasped for air after the speedy chase around the shop. Even Mingi was out of breath; his chest heaved silently while his gaze locked yours. This was the first time you’ve ever made deep (longer than a few seconds) eye contact with him, and it made your heat somersault against your ribs.
“Let… me read it… without fearing you’ll reach over and grab it ‘cause it might just fall into-”
“Read it, then.” He ordered. A momentary shiver of fear traveled down your body. Wait a minute. Was he a hired hit-man? No. No. No. It’s Mingi; no harm flows through his veins. I think, you thought.
“Ok-k.” Your delicate hands opened the file. The first notable thing were a few pages of sheet music which were a foreign language to you. He watched as your eyebrow furrowed over the music sheets, recognizing you couldn’t read them. You flipped around the pages until a small page of notebook paper caught your attention. It belonged to your journal; you remembered the day Mingi asked for a sheet. How could you say no?
It was the words scribbled all over the lines that knocked the wind out of your lungs.
‘I bet this time of night you’re still up.I bet you’re tired from a long, hard week.
I bet you’re sitting in your chair by the window looking out at the city. And I bet, sometimes you wonder about me’
He noticed your grip on the crinkled paper loosen, and he let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding.
‘And I just wanna tell you, it takes everything in me not to call you.
And I wish I could run to you.
And I hope you know that everytime I don’t, I almost do, I almost do.’
Your eyes looked up at his. He was writing a song. It made sense, him being a musical arts student, but you couldn’t figure out why he tried to hide it from you.
“This is beautiful. No. That’s not the right word.” You bit your lip and gazed down at the paper before noticing a line you hadn’t yet read:
‘I bet it never ever occurred to you that I can’t say Hello to you and risk another Goodbye.’
(lyrics from Taylor Swift- I Almost Do)
“This is… about me?” It made sense, his struggle to wave to you. A blush tickled your pure cheeks when he nodded. A warm smile formed on your face as you stepped closer to the boy. “Why does Hello pain you, Min?”
“When I was younger, we moved around a lot: financial problems.” He rested on a bag of fish pebbles and fiddled with his hands. His eyes would glance at you from time to time before rushing to find something other than you to admire.
“Whenever I made a friend, there was always this fear of ‘how long?’ ‘When do I have to say goodbye?’ It’s childish, I guess-”
“No, Mingi. It’s understandable,” you purred while easing onto the stool you sat on for studying. You scraped the bottom of it on the floor while scooting closer to him.
His face lightened and rid itself of worry. “I guess I never got over the fear that... I’ll leave everyone behind. Even the ones I love.” He held his gaze with yours.
“I thought you hated me,” you breathed a low laugh.
“No. No, I- I’m sorry I made you feel that way. I- well you,” he took the paper out of your grasp carefully and slid it back in the folder. “You make me nervous, y/n.”
“I’m not trying to.”
You’ve never seen this particular loving grin of his before now. And gosh, did it feel like heaven. “You always give me this unexplainable feeling. Like, I get so much inspiration when I’m around you. I’m always looking forward to working here with you because I can go home and add the lyrics to my songs.” He sighed and took your warm hand in his.
“When you brought my sweater back, I realized I feel something for you- something close to love. I waved to you then because I unconsciously discovered why my stomach feels nauseous around you- you make the butterflies fly for me, y/n.”
You stood there in disbelief. Song Mingi likes you? You beamed at him and whispered, “I like you, too.”
“Hm I couldn’t catch that.” His tease earned a light punch on the shoulder from you.
“I’ve been thinking about you like that for a long time.” Confidence filled your voice as your eyes caught hold of his.
“Yeah?” Mingi’s slightly calloused fingers traced along your jawline. He inched closer and felt your quick breaths on his collarbone.
“Yeah.”
He leaned into your hair and eased at your tiny hands tracing along his spine. His palms firmly rested on the small of your back afraid to let you go.
“I’m afraid to lose you.” His voice sparked with panic as you slowly inched apart.
“You’re not gonna lose me,” you cooed at him. Your hands raised to hold his cute cheeks; his eyes were hypnotic as they seeped with care only for you. “I’m here. And I promise I’m not going anywhere.”
“I’m not leaving either,” he promised. The honesty in his voice made you deteriorate. His lips danced dangerously close with yours as he lowered to your height. You leaned on your tiptoes in frantic need for his lips. His palms cupped your neck while the pads of his thumbs grazed along your jaw. He urged you closer while your hands fell to grip the fabric of his t-shirt.
After one small kiss, you pulled away for a breath then devoured more of his alluring lips.
In that moment for air, his eyes never left your lips; they electrified him with desire. A desire that sealed his promise to never leave your side as he curved his body against yours.

Sea | Leviathan x gn!Reader
Levi had always been weirdly intrigued by the sea. There was just something about those seemingly bottomless depths that drew him in, made him want to jump right into the cold blue and let himself be swept away by the waves. But of course, he had better things to do than that, games to play and concerts to attend, so he settled on the sea-like look of his room instead.
The aquarium, the jellyfish floating around and the blue light illuminating the room brought peace to his heart, calming him down more than once from his gamer rage or the insecurities he so desperately tried to hide.
At night, when his head wouldn't let him sleep, one look at his room would be enough to wash away his thoughts like shells at the beach. Of course, it didn't always work, but it was enough to calm his mind and let him sleep. When he would even sleep, that is.
His brothers couldn't quite understands the benefit of sleeping in a bathtub, but Levi didn't need them to. It wasn't like most of them came to his room anyway, they left him alone, just how he wanted them to. He liked to be alone, he was used to it. All he needed were his games, Ruri-chan and the jellyfish keeping him company. He didn't need more.
That changed.
That changed when you came to Devildom and befriended him like it was nothing. The first thing he noticed about you was the weight of your presence, hitting him like a wave and pulling him down into your depths. On the surface you were so beautiful and calm, but underneath was a raging darkness that only showed itself during the storm, destroying everything that dared to fight against it.
It was the way you had dared to question his love for TSL and even brought him to lose his control. It was the way you had smiled afterwards, calm and beautiful, as if there had never been a storm. It was the way you had asked him to be your friend without an inch of hesitation.
Levi found himselfintrigued by you.
So, he let you in.
And as days turned into months with you by his side, with every night you spend in his room, he noticed that those things that had kept him satisfied, suddenly weren't enough anymore.
There was something else the demon needed, craved.
You.
You, who reminded him of the sea he loved so much.
But the real moment he had been fully swept away by you was the night you had trusted him with your deepest secret. Even now, it still seemed like a dream to him, but the memory was livid in his mind.
It had been a night like any other. Sleepless, his eyes bloodshot and painted with dark bags, Levi sat in front of his PC as his fingers moved quickly, knowingly, like they had countless times already. It was yet another game he knew in and out.
He had been doing that a lot recently, playing games he knew already rather than new ones which had started to catch dust in the far corner of his room. There was too much on his mind that didn't let him concentrate, you didn't let him concentrate, so he settled on trusting the movements he knew, which were engraved in his system, rather than his mind.
There was a knock on his door and Levi would have missed it if it wasn't for the lack of gaming music inside his room, turned off for the night so he wouldn't annoy his brothers. And maybe also in case you would visit him again. He let out a low hum as an answer and the door to his room opened, revealing you.
You looked charming as always, with your pastel colored clothes and the seashell earrings that adorned your ears. Not to mention the beautiful smile on your face. A light blush dusted Levi's cheeks, but his face shortly morfed into a frown when he noticed how nervous you seemed. Usually you were calm and collected, so what was making you so nervous?
Immediately, worries started to fill his head and he jumped up from his chair. Was it because of him? Had he done something that had made you uncomfortable? Were you going to end the friendship with him? Levi wouldn't be able to accept it if you did that. At that point, he wouldn t be able to stay sane without you by his side.
His train of thoughts was stopped when you suddenly ran up to him and pressed a bottle of water, he hadn't noticed you had up till now, into his hands. Your hands were cold, but soft. And so tiny. The blush on his face darkened and random sentences left his mouth, any thoughts dissolving in his mind.
"Levi, can you splash this water on me?"
Silence.
His mouth hung open mid-sentence as Levi stared at you. You could practically see the cogs working as he tried to process what you had just said, you staring back at him with your big eyes, nervoussness filling those usually soft depths.
"Eh?"
Noticing that he wouldn't move any time soon, you sighed and forced yourself to calm down. Your hands moved from the water bottle to his face, cupping it gently, before you started to explain. Even if Levi was ready to pass out, his blush reaching his ears, he still listened to every word you said.
"Listen, you're my best friend and I don't want to keep any secrets from you, especially not big ones like this. It‘s a lobg story, but for now, please, just trust me like I trust you and do what I said."
Another moment of silence passed and Levi swallowed hardly, before he nodded. What other option did he have except trusting you? Your grasp on his face relaxed and a small smile spread on your lips, free from any worry this time, and the demon could swear he felt his heart stop beating.
Nothing could prepare him for what happened afterwads.
With slow motions, Levi opened the bottle and held it above your head, hesitating, before he poured the liquid over you. Silence fell over the room for the third time that night and his foxy eyes shook as he stared at your wet form, but nothing seemed to happen. He was about to question what the water was for, but you interrupted him by suddenly falling forward and taking him down with you.
A surpised yelp broke the silence of the room, before Levi's back hit the cold ground with a soft thud. Ready to complain, he sat up and opened his mouth, but the words died in his throat at the sight before him.
There, on top of him, were you. But with a fish tail. A real, big, fish tail. With scales and everything. Was he dreaming? He was sure that he had hit his head while falling down and that this was all just a dream. Maybe Levi had associated you with the sea a little too much?
He was proven that it wasn’t an imagination when you sat up and started apologizing for surprising him like that, but the demon could hardly register any of your words as he stared at you tail.
As much as he could see under the blue light of his ceiling, it had a unique color, each scale looking different but fitting together perfectly. It was so much like ... you.
Levi caught himself thinking that it looked beautiful.
Wondering how it would feel, he quietly reached out and touched the tail, making you stop your still ongoing rant of apologies and explanations and quietly look at him instead. There was a soft smile on the demon‘s features as his fingers brushed over the smooth scales, rubbing off on you and making you smile as well.
The next words left Levi‘s mouth before he could even stop himself.
"I think this made me fall even more in love with you."
Levi tensed and he wanted nothing more than to slap himself to death.
There goes his true friend, he really messed this one up. But then you smiled brightly and leaped at him, hitting him like a wave, connecting your lips with his, and he didn’t regret saying it in the slightest.
Bonus:
It was only then that he noticed that your upper body was completely nude and he froze, an ear-piercing scream finally echoing through the halls of the house, before he passed out.

Marry Me, Bunny | Tamaki Amajiki x Reader
AN: Hiya! This was a request from @sweetlikepeppermints ! I hope you like this, love! Sidenote: I’ve been having way too much fun with these covers >.< Pronouns used: She/her Length: 1.8k
Summary: Tamaki’s been trying to propose to you for a while now! He finally gets his chance
Your Name: (y/f/n) - Aye soon to be (f/n) Amajiki Quirk: (y/q) Age: 24
“(f/n)… y-you’re the best th- no. B-Bunny, I l-love you s-so much and- no.” Tamaki sighed, flopping down onto the couch. His indigo eyes stared up at the white ceiling as he clenched his fists. Tamaki was rehearsing his proposal to his lovely girlfriend, (f/n). The only problem was, Tamaki was too shy. He wasn’t even the one to ask her out to begin with! She asked him out on a date, then asked him to be her boyfriend. So, how was he possibly going to ask her to marry him!?
Both Nejire and Mirio did their best to convince him that (f/n) wouldn’t say no, but how could they be sure? They couldn’t, unless (f/n) told him she would want to marry him. What if (f/n) lied!? What if she lied so Nejire and Mirio wouldn’t feel bad or something?
Just the simple thought alone caused him immense inner turmoil. It messed with his head, nerves, and the very little confidence he’d mustered up. The plan was to take (f/n) out on a cute little date, first to her favorite cafe, then out to the aquarium, then dinner, then finally propose to her at home! Ideally, he would’ve liked to propose to her at the restaurant, but his anxiety wouldn’t let him and he’d make a bigger fool of himself than he already did.
Tamaki frowned a little, would (f/n) want to be proposed to in front of a crowd? Would she want a husband who was more confident? Tamaki would barely handle kissing her on the cheek in public and they’d been dating for well over four years, almost going on five in about three months.
Yes, (f/n) was dating him, but they were at the stage where all (f/n) needed to do to get rid of him was to tell him. If they got married, she’d need to go through this whole divorce process, do all the paperwork, and find their attorneys. Would he really want to do that to her? Would he really want to put her through that? He was surprised she hadn’t gotten bored of him, yet. Would that last forever? He sure hoped it would.
Tamaki was so madly in love with (f/n). With all of his heart. She was his rock, she was his sun, she was his determination, passion, drive, and reason. She was the reason he was a hero, she was the reason he put himself out there, she was the reason he was who he was. The powerful and mighty Suneater, the number 4 ranked pro hero.
Tamaki was nothing without his (f/n) and he happily admitted it. So, to him, marriage was the next step he would blindly take, knowing (f/n) would be by his side. But, would she? Would she truly be ok with someone like him? Someone so meek and timid, someone who could barely handle affection behind closed doors, let alone in public. There were so many better options… So why him?
Sitting up, Tamaki sighed. All of these negative thoughts weren’t helping his case. If he wanted to propose to (f/n), he’d need to be confident. (f/n) had been with him for almost five years now. She had chosen him, out of all her friends and all the other people he thought she’d been better with. She had chosen him and was clearly happy with him. So, why was he so scared? He couldn’t be. He had to be confident, he had to push himself out of his comfort zone, all for his beautiful, bunny.
***
“Hey, Tama!” (f/n) greeted him with a rather excited tone. She wrapped her arms around his torso, nuzzling her face into his chest.
“H-Hey, bunny.” His arms fell around her, pulling her into him tightly. He placed a small kiss on the top of her head as his hands raked through her (h/l) (h/c) locks. “Ready?” She nodded and looked up at him with a big smile.
“I am!” Grabbing her (purse/bag), she shut her apartment door and locked it. The first place they went to was (fav cafe) so (f/n) could get her favorite beverage, (f/b). Once they were done, they walked towards the aquarium. “Where are we headed, Tama?”
“It’s a surprise.” He said, a slight smile on his lips. (f/n) only nodded, her hand tightening around his as they walked and sipped their drinks.
**
They had a comfortable conversation until they arrived at the next location. He was both relieved and overjoyed to see how excited (f/n) was when she saw the aquarium in the distance and Tamaki confirmed that’s where they were going.
As they walked through the entire aquarium, visiting all the exhibits and whatnot, Tamaki couldn’t help but feel a sense of bliss and contentment at seeing his girlfriend’s happy face and expressions.
“Tama! Look!” She giggled, running ahead of him. Her hand slipped from his as she placed them on the glass, eyes filled with wonder and admiration. There was a large tank that had small sharks, different schools of saltwater fish, and even some manta rays. Her eyes watched as a manta ray swam towards her, floating above and exposing its belly to her as it swam by. “Oh! He’s so cute!” She giggled.
Tamaki smiled as he followed behind her, standing right next to her. His indigo eyes scanned her features, her bright smile, and eyes filled with excitement. It felt great knowing he was the reason, someone, as amazing as she had that big of a smile.
In the distance, Tamaki saw a (fish/marine mammal you like) plushie. It was medium-sized and he knew (f/n) liked that specific fish because of the (reason you like said fishie/mammal). While (f/n) was busy watching the fish swim around the tank, Tamaki slipped away and quickly bought the little stuffed animal for her.
Tamaki came up behind her and brought the plushie down in front of her. Her eyes widened as her fingers gently wrapped around it.
“T-Tama! Th-this is so freaking cute! Thank you!” She turned around and wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him tightly. His cheeks flushed a deep red, but a soft smile appeared on his lips and hugged back.
“An-anything for you, B-Bunny.” (f/n) held the plushie close to her chest the entire time they were at the aquarium. She deemed it her favorite plushie it and had named it (p/n). The next location was the restaurant. Tamaki had taken her to her favorite restaurant, (r/n).
“This is super nice, Tamaki. You must’ve really missed me.” (f/n) giggled. It was true, she and Tamaki had been apart for a few days due to how busy he was, but that wasn’t the only reason. Tamaki looked down, his mind returning to the ring in his pocket. It felt so heavy and overbearing, but he tried his best to push it out of his head. He was nervous all day and (f/n) had noticed, but she knew how he was. So, she gave him the opportunity to come to her when he was ready to talk about it.
That’s what he loved most about her. She never pushed him out of his comfort zone, she never forced him to talk about his feelings, and she always supported him no matter what. She was caring and loving and she never took advantage of him.
The dinner went smoothly, (f/n) had ordered her favorite (f/f) and Tamaki had ordered his. The two had a rather pleasant date, before they were headed home. Now was when the nerves kicked in. He was about to propose… but how?!
“Want to have a movie night? Binge watch a bunch of movies?”
“O-o-ok.” He answered, looking away. (f/n) knew something was wrong, but she didn’t press the issue further.
“What movie, baby?”
“Wh-whatever y-y-you w-want.” He mentally cursed at himself for being so ridiculously shy and cowardice.
“How about we watch… (f/m)?” Tamaki only nodded, unable to speak. (f/n) grabbed some snacks, even though they were full, in case they wanted some later on. While she was gathering her stuff, Tamaki was gathering up the courage to finally ask her the question. His mind was in a panic, the butterflies in his stomach were also in a panic, his body was shaking, and it was the most uncomfortable feeling and he really didn’t like it. “Ready?” (f/n) asked, sitting down next to him with all her junk food sprawled out on the large couch. As she pulled the covers up, Tamaki stood, making her eyes follow his figure. “You ok, baby? What’s wrong?”
Tamaki stood in front of her, gazing down at his beautiful girlfriend. She looked so beautiful today and even now, she was glowing. He was so lucky to have her and he only wished she knew.
On the other hand, (f/n) was in a full-blown panic. Tamaki was acting extremely strange all day. Did he want to break up with her? Did she do something? Did she hurt his feeling? She was mentally trying to prepare herself for any of these possibilities, but her heart stopped when he got down on one knee and gently took her left hand. In this other hand, he had a small velvety black box, with a bright diamond ring.
It was beautiful, the band was lined with gems, the biggest one in the center sparkling and winking at (f/n). Tamaki was blushing heavily, but he was determined to do this. He was Suneater and he wasn’t scared to ask his girlfriend to marry him.
“(y/f/n). We’ve been together for four years, almost five. You’ve always been by my side no matter what. You’ve always encouraged me, supported me, and loved me regardless of all my flaws. I… I know I’m shy and I know I get embarrassed easily but I want you to know, bunny, I love you. I love you so much. You’re my entire world, you’re my moon and my stars, you’re my sun, my universe. You’re my reason for being a hero. You make me a better person, bunny. You’re my drive, my passion, my determination, my will to continue. I want to be a hero for you. I want to be a hero that you’ll be proud of. So (f/n), will you marry me?”
He didn’t stutter, not once. (f/n)’s heart melted at the determination in his eyes. This is one of the times (f/n) could see just how confident Tamaki could be and she loved it. Her eyes were wide as she let every single word, every single syllable, sink in. Unable to speak, she just nodded rapidly. He slid the ring onto her finger and pulled her towards him, placing a kiss on her lips. It was soft, gentle, and loving. (f/n) giggled, her hand meeting his cheek.
“I love you so much, Tamaki,” She whispered, pressing another kiss to his lips. “Or should I say,” She winked. “Mr. Amajiki?” He couldn’t help the laugh that escaped his lips.
“I love you too, Mrs. Amajiki.”

“Noona!” Jimin calls out. Smiling brightly, you wave at him. The six-year-old runs towards you, his little backpack bouncing in tandem with his hair.
“Jiminie! Hi Puppy! Did you have a good day at school?” you ask, crouching down to his eye level.
“I did! Where’s Daddy?” Jimin asks, curiously looking around for his father. You bite your lip, sending him a small smile.
“Daddy had to work today, so noona is here to pick you up. Where are Taehyung and Jungkook?” you ask, looking behind him for his brothers.
“It’s Wednesday! Gukkie and Hyungie have art club!” Jimin replies, smiling brightly at you.
“Oh? Joon didn’t tell me anything about that. Okay,” you reply, a slight frown marring your face.
“Noona,” Jimin suddenly whispers, his chubby little hand tugging at your jumper as he draws your attention back to him. Turning to him, you quirk your eyebrow, watching as he nervously looks around. His little feet shuffle around and you notice that he has one hand behind his back - clearly hiding something.
“Jimin? What’s wrong Puppy? What do you have?” you question, gesturing to the hand behind his back.
“Daddy’s not here? Are you sure?” Jimin asks, his voice hushed and tone almost conspiratorial. From his tone, it seems as if he’s almost hoping Namjoon isn’t around. Cocking your eyebrow, you look at him in surprise. It’s completely unlike Jimin to not want Namjoon near him - the boy was practically attached to his father.
“Daddy’s definitely not here, no. It’s just you and me today. Is everything okay?” you ask softly. Jimin bites his lip.
“If I tell you something, do you promise not to tell Daddy?” Jimin asks, his eyes widening and lip jutting out in the cutest puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen. You’re at a loss for words. You wish you could promise him that - but Jimin isn’t your child and if it’s something Namjoon needs to know, then you’re almost duty-bound to tell him.
“Jimin- honey, I can’t promise that. What if Daddy needs to know?” you reply. Jimin sniffles slightly and your heart breaks a little.
“Please noona!” he begs and the slight whiny tone in his voice has you caving in with a sigh.
“How about this? You tell me first and I’ll decide whether Daddy needs to know or not?” you say, attempting a compromise. Jimin’s face scrunches up adorably, his cheeks puffing up as he ponders your offer. Then, with a nod, he thrusts the hand behind him in front. Your eyes widen when you notice the plastic bag filled with water, a fat little goldfish swimming around. From the golfball like shape and its thick domed, opalescent scales, you know it to be the Pearlscale goldfish.
“Jimin?” you wearily say. As much as Namjoon loves sea creatures, you know the boys are forbidden from having pets. They’re still too young to properly take care of them and with Namjoon’s busy schedule, he just didn’t have the time to parent three kids as well as a pet. It’s also why the boys were so incredibly close to Rap Mon - he wasn’t technically their pet, he’s yours.
“Hanbinnie’s fishie is sick! I told Hanbinnie that my Noona is a sea doctor!” Jimin says, smiling proudly at you. Your heart lurches, face softening at his use of ‘my Noona’ before he continues, “So here! Make him better!” Jimin says, a wide grin on his face as he thrusts the bag into your face. Reeling back, you startle slightly before gently taking the bag out of Jimin’s hold.
Carefully, you inspect the goldfish. It doesn’t look sick you think - but then you spot it. Cotton-like white growths form along the underbelly of the goldfish, obscuring the iridescent orange scales. You frown slightly. A fungal disease? It’s not particularly contagious - however, it can lead to fatality - even in hardy creatures such as goldfish. Though, from what you know of the Pearlscale goldfish, they’re incredibly sensitive and vulnerable to changes in temperature or pH; and with the weather getting colder, it’s no wonder that the fish caught a fungal disease. It does, after all, only occur due to stress and a lowered immune system. Once done examining the fish, you let out a deep exhale.
“Puppy,” you sigh, “goldfish die sometimes. They’re not pets people keep for a long time,” you continue, trying to be as delicate as possible. The minute the words leave your lips, however, Jimin’s eyes begin tearing up, his cute little button nose turning rose as his bottom lip quivers.
“No! Noona, please! Save the fishie,” Jimin cries, little whimpers escaping his mouth. Instantly, your heart breaks and you gather the sobbing boy into your arms. Jimin clutches your shirt tightly, little fists curling into the material as his tears soak into the fabric.
“Oh honey,” you coo, gently petting his head as you try to console him. Jimin always did have the biggest heart in the world and he loves animals - you know from the way he gets excited every time Namjoon brings him over to the aquarium and he gets starry-eyed - or the way he cuddles up and strokes Rap Mon while telling your pup about his day. Indeed, Jimin has the biggest heart in the world - and apparently, just the thought of someone else’s fish, not even his own, passing away, has him crying in your embrace.
“Please noona,” Jimin sobs, little hiccups escaping him. Taking in a deep breath, you put him at arm's length. You cup his face in your hand, your thumbs brushing away his tears before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. Jimin snivels under your ministration, body slightly relaxing in your hold. Then, you hand him the water-filled bag and easily pick him up into your arms.
“Alright, Puppy. Let’s see what we can do, yeah?” you finally say. Jimin’s lips curl into a large, watery smile.
“Yes! Thank you Noona!” he cries, laying his head on the crook of your neck before snuggling into you as he delicately holds the goldfish.
Face softening, you pull him tighter into you as you walk to your car. How hard could it be to treat a goldfish after all?
Tumblr media
Sitting in your lab, you carefully move the goldfish from the bag and into an antiseptic, empty tank - of course, after making sure the tank’s conditions were suitable for it. Jimin stands close to you, hands on the table as he peers over the edge, watching you carefully. He’s barely tall enough to overlook your actions and even as he stands on his tiptoes, only the top of his head and his eyes make it over the counter ledge. Carefully, you grip onto the fish, making sure to keep your clutch gentle while also holding firmly enough so it doesn’t slip out of your grasp - not that your latex glove covered hands are helping.
Plopping it into the tank, you watch as it frantically swims around its new location. Undoubtedly, it’s stressed - not only from your handling of the creature - but also from its new environment. Hopefully, however, it acclimatises pretty quickly. You know that additional stress can lead to white spot disease - and considering the fish is already ill, you want to avoid any further strain on its immune system.
As you leave it to get acclimatised, you move along to gathering the different equipment you’d need to treat it. Jimin watches you with hawk-like eyes before he begins following you around like a lost puppy. Once you’ve gathered the correct equipment and treatments, you take a seat at your laboratory counter once again.
You begin by undoing the filter from the tank, taking out the active carbon as swiftly as you can before replacing it: after all, the fish needs clean water if you want it to recover as soon as possible. When you replace the filter once again, you feel Jimin tug at your trousers. Turning to him, you let out a little laugh as he holds onto the legs of your slacks, his little body jumping as he attempts to crawl into your lap.
Unsnapping the gloves from your hands, you wrap your arms around him and pull him into your lap. Jimin grins at you before shifting into a more comfortable position. Your arms cage his body as you resume working on the fish. Jimin’s eyes follow your exact movements, watching as you reach out for a little brown glass bottle. He turns to you, his head tilting up slightly.
“What’s that noona?” Jimin asks, curiosity laced through his voice.
“Methylene Blue,” you hum back in response, not really thinking about your answer. Jimin’s features twist, his face falling.
“What’s what?” he asks. You stop, letting out a little laugh.
“Sorry honey,” you apologise. You’d completely forgotten that Jimin is simply a six-year-old and not a trained veterinarian like you are, “it’s a type of medicine. To treat your friend’s fish,” you explain. Jimin nods in response, turning back to watch you carefully unscrew the lid before he once again turns back to you.
“Can I help?” he inquires, his head tilting to the side. A smile curls on your lips before you nod at him. Jimin grins brightly in response before excitedly placing his little, chubby hands on the back of your own. His hands follow yours as you treat the tank with a few drops of the solution, watching as the colour of the water tints blue.
“Is that it?” Jimin asks, his body moving forward as he stares at the fish in interest. With a chuckle you shake your head, instead, reaching for another bottle.
“Not just yet. We need to add the freshwater aquarium salt and then let the fish do the rest. Hopefully, it will recover soon,” you reply gently. Jimin nods enthusiastically.
“Hanbinnie will be so happy! I can’t wait to give him back his fishie and tell him my noona made him better!” Jimin happily says as he kicks his legs enthusiastically. Once again, your heart swells at his use of ‘my noona’.
“Would you like to add the salt, Puppy?” The words tumble out of your mouth before you even think about them. Jimin sits up in interest, his entire body perking up as he nods frantically.
“Yes, please! Can I?” he asks, the words racing out of his mouth as he buzzes with excitement. A light laugh leaves your lips and you stroke his head before nodding. Taking the bottle in your hand, you measure out the appropriate amount into a beaker before handing him the glass jar.
“Okay, just sprinkle this over the water and then we’re done!” you reply. Jimin carefully takes the beaker into his little palms, the jar almost dwarfing his hands. Then, with the utmost look of concentration and his little tongue poking out of his plump lips, he carefully sprinkles the salt over the water.
“Like this?” he asks, nervously turning to you.
“Just like that!” you reply, arms automatically wrapping around his plump little belly. Jimin keens under your praise, smiling brightly as his eyes turn into little half-moons. When he’s done, he places it back down and leans his head into the crook of your neck, watching as you finish off by stirring the water - as gently as you can to not disturb the goldfish - so the salt mixes in.
“All done! Now, I’ll need to keep Hanbin’s fish here in the lab under observation for a couple of days. But when he’s healthy again, you can come and get him and give him back to Hanbin, is that okay?” you ask. Jimin nods eagerly.
“Yes! Thank you noona! You’re the best!” Jimin responds before twisting in your arms and hugging you tightly. Your face softens as you once again wrap your arm around him.
“Mhm. Are you ready to head home now?” you ask and Jimin nods once again before hopping off the chair and running to grab his coat. Laughingly, you follow him before helping him put on his jacket and wrap up warm. Then, you hold out your hand, letting Jimin’s mitten covered one grab it.
“Come on then. I’m sure Daddy, Taehyungie and Jungkookie are waiting for us,” you say as you lead him out of your lab. Before you do, however, he stops and looks at you with curious eyes. Turning to him, you cock an eyebrow as you wait for him to say what’s on his mind.
“Noona… do you think I could become a sea doctor?” Jimin asks. Your eyebrows shoot into your hairline at his sudden question, surprise filling you.
“Hmm. You’d have to work hard, but I don’t see why not,” you finally reply. Your words cause him to beam brightly at you, a toothy smile on his lips as his eyes squish together.
“Then I’m going to become a sea doctor! Just like you noona!” Jimin calls out cheerily. And with that, he tugs you out of your own lab.

Day 24 7/21/2021
Helllllllo friends!
Today was soooooo fun. Maybe my favorite day yet. Which is saying a lot since most my days here have been amazing. Hopefully I can paint a nice picture for you. It began with a nice cozy sleep. In the morning, I didn’t workout to give myself a nice break and some more sleepies. I had a nice yummy breakfast and then met up with the Cocos crew to get ready for our visit to the refuge (specifically the East-West causeway) to do a bird count. I threw on my biosecurity outfit and hopped in the Guardian mask free with the Cocos (their quarantine is over yay!). When we got to the East-West causeway, we waded through the water to get to the very thin strip of land (previously a road built in the 40s) where we started our count. I wasn’t much help since this was my first go at it, but our job is to count active nests and determine varying stages of the bird babies. The Cocos crew are experts so I listened, enjoyed the scenery, and took wayyyy too many pictures. It was so much fun seeing all the different stages of the babies. Little eggy eggs that had been recently laid, naked little dinosaurs, fluffer nutters, awkward little fluffy and nudey mixes, grumpy-potamus looking ones, and full grown cuties that are not quite ready for flight (as you may have noticed I have become very well versed in the technical descriptions used during bird counts ;)). Overall we saw red-footed booby babies, masked booby babies, brown booby babies, frigate bird babies, and red tailed tropicbird babies (at a certain stage they call them chocolate chips eeeee so cute). We also saw lots of crabs and a baby black-tip shark do do do do. My favorite little baby was this super awkward brown booby who had a bunch of fluff around it’s neck and on its hips making him like quite the distinguished little gentleman. Honestly there were so many cuties it’s very hard to choose my favorite. After a lovely morning, we headed back to shore, I changed into my regular clothes, and then tried to help with the last little bit of community day. While we were out on the refuge, the rest of the crew was doing odd jobs around the station for community day so I missed most of the grunt work while I ooed and awed at little baby birds. I’m not complaining at all!
In the afternoon, Ben, Mollie (one of our fabulous chefs), and I had an early lunch so that we could go out and help Hank and our CMO (chief marine officer), another Ben, document the installation of new snorkel buoys and some smart satellite buoys. In a nut shell, we got to snorkel and take pictures of them working underwater. It was SO much fun. The first site we stopped at was the Rubble Pile (marked as a dead squirrel on the map hehe) where they installed a new buoy since the old one was not in great shape to anchor up to. To do this, they brought new chain and fed it through the a cement block about 15 feet down and then they connected the float buoys which sit 5 or so feet in the water column and then the surface buoy which is what we snag and link the boat to when we are snorkeling. Mollie and Ben were taking photos of the whole process while I watched and explored the reef. I saw a very calm and chill turtle swim by, some curious snappers, and a huge crown of thorn sea star which was cool to see but also a bummer since they can cause damage to the reef. Next, we headed to Tortagonia (or tortellini or tortilla) to set up a satellite buoy. At the sites where we set up the satellite buoys, there were previously established concrete blocks with a small submerged yellow marker that we had to find at the surface. We had rough coordinates and Hank knew where they were generally located so it wasn’t too tough. I also didn’t mind hanging out in the boat and enjoying the views. The weather today was spectacular. Not too much sun but just enough to keep you comfortable while snorkeling (I get chilly swimming after awhile even though the water here is usually a balmy 80 degrees depending on where you are). The water was also soooo clear it was like we were in an aquarium. So visibility was pasta primavera aka primo aka perfect aka amaza! I saw a ton of giant clams and lots of fishies like the humbug dascyllus (my current favorite), bigeye emperor, and yellowmargin triggerfish (or peach face). After Tortagonia, we stopped at station to grab some things and then we headed back out to North coral gardens and Barren islet to explore and install another satellite buoy. This is my new favorite part of the atoll. There’s soooo much to see in the water. It’s really shallow and there’s tons of coral covering the sea floor. It’s like a carpet of coral. Blue, green, pink, yellow, and brown. It reminds me of this toy I used to play with as a kid called Aqua Sand. It was like a drip castle underwater but with colored sand. The magical part of it was when you took it out of the water it was dry! Anyway it looks just like that. It’s soooo amazing. There were also tons of fishies swimming about. We swam to Barren and climbed up onto the coral rubble which is moved and shaped by the waves. It’s similar to the Rubble Pile, but there’s a lot more land and a lot more wave action coming in from the Pacific. At the end of Barren, there are two decoy bird colonies. These areas of Barren are the only parts we are allowed to access. They are technically apart of the refuge but we don’t have to worry about biosecurity since there’s not much there but rubble. The south western parts of the islet have more going on, but we can’t venture there due to unexplored ordinances from WW2 times. In the parts we could access, we walked around and did some exploring, but not with our fair share of difficulty. I mentioned that the end of Barren is coral rubble and only 2 out of the 5 of us brought shoes. “Lucky” for us there was a fair amount of trash that had washed up on shore which included many random shoes. I found a croc flip flop and a platform flip flop. Mollie also found a kid sized croc flip flop so we ended up passing the shoes around so we wouldn’t struggle too much on all the dead coral.
Overall, the whole experience was insane. The waves crash there in all different directions creating these crazy patterns in the rubble. It looks like aliens in a cornfield type of thing. The best part of it was standing at the end and watching the waves go all over the place. It’s just the big ol Pacific out there and it’s very powerful. Hopefully I can post of video of it because it’s very hard to explain how crazy it looks.
After hanging there for awhile, we headed back and stopped to fix another buoy by the North-South causeway. We got back to station pretty late but it was a fantastic day. So much fun on the boat! Once we got back to shore, we had some leftovers, I rinsed off, and then headed to bed. I was soooo tired after such an incredible day! Woweeeee!
Pictures will be a separate post. I got lots!

hello again !! I hope you’re doing well 😊
oh my god that’s hilarious about being scared while kyun was on vlive 😭 these boys are just too much sometimes - that’s a mood about being a hoe for all of them, I just can’t help but loving them all 😪 inseong will forever be number one in my heart but zuho just …. his existence makes me lose my mind (omg one of my closest friends is a taurus 🥺 I’m a sagittarius myself, if that means anything to you lmao)
agreed !! I haven’t looked into the translated lyrics for all of the songs on hanbin’s album yet but I’m sure they’ll make me cry 😅 I’m definitely not the person to ask about masterlists, the one on my writing blog is a mess, I should really clean it up somehow 🤡 you’re right !! I had a dream about hanbin a few days ago about going to the aquarium with his younger sister so maybe that would be a cute fic who knows 🤷‍♀️ I also had a dream about soobin (from txt) last night but I don’t remember many details sadly :(
yes please teach me !! I feel like I missed out on a major childhood experience by never learning how to ride a bike so I’d love to learn at some point before I die 🥺
Hello!!! Thank you, I'm doing well~~ How about you???
True hhhhh, Kyun's and Chani's voices especially- not to be weird or anything but I can hear the rumbling of their voices in my tummy (ok I'm done, sorry 🥰). I agree with you~ Someone once asked a question which involved choosing a member or something like that and I had to take a break because I had thought of all them ⭐// Ju and Inseong are downright adorable but when they get on stage??!?! *screams in SF9*// That's a cute fact hehe!
Hanbin's got us crying + he released a new video recently and although I haven't watched it, I did read in the comments that someone recommended the concept (of the video) to him on twitter room and he came through with it (?). That's very wholesome, I'm glad he's back with my whole heart hhh// I'll get to work on my masterlist then 😊😊// Oh!?!? That's a gloriously beautiful idea *sobs*, I can imagine him paying attention to her words about the fishies and giving you this lasting look of liking someone uwu + he's holding her hands and you link your with his and he's just there, between the two of you, led by his sister and him tugging you along, with this huge smile on his face (unknowingly probably)
Someday! It will happen! I'm thinking of telling you to do it spontaneously and also to be careful (don't hurt thyself~). What about swimming?? Swimming is a passion of mine but recently, I haven't gotten the chance to do it and I miss it TT There's something so beautiful about the water that makes you want to sit there, read a book or swim ferociously/leisurely and relax (oh dear, I really do miss it 💖)

Dinner with the Fishes
Writer’s Notes: Here’s my dabble at writing for this adorable ot3. I might write a second part, but here’s the road so far.
///
Lan Xichen can’t help but smile from behind the top of his sketchbook. Enjoying watching his neighbor turned friend to mutual crush with his boyfriend, Nie Mingjue, tidying up the coffee table. Jiang Cheng is a work of art and he’s glad he’s already sitting down on his couch, because he’d been swaying a bit if he wasn’t.
Jiang Cheng sat on the floor with his back to him. His long black hair pulled back in a messy braid showing off his neck. The tip of a snake’s tail peeping out from the collar of his soft plum henley and jeans that hugged his runners legs. An adorable child’s hand swipe of dried yellow paint from his cheek to his sharp jawline.
“What would you like for me to lay out for dinner before Mingjue-ge gets back, Xichen-ge?” Jiang Cheng asked, gathering up the brightly finger painted drawings that he, Lan Xichen, and Jin Ling were working on before Jin Ling wanted to watch Zootopia. Then the little one fell asleep in Jiang Cheng’s lap. Jiang Cheng checked his watch, seeing that his nephew was due to wake up at any moment from his nap in the guest bedroom.
“How about some steaks? I’m sure that A-Jue would be more than happy to grill them for us for dinner.” Lan Xichen cheerfully smiled at him when Jiang Cheng looked over his shoulder. A small frown on the younger man’s lips.
“Oh, you don’t have to do that. We can make something at our apartment. Besides you've already had your hands full with us all day.” Jiang Cheng countered turning around to look at him.
“Hardly,” Lan Xichen chuckled, his gaze traveling down to his cast covered leg propped up on a plush pillow,“Besides, I remember distinctly being right here for ninety-nine percent of the day.”
Jiang Cheng huffed while rolling his eyes,”Oh, please, you wouldn’t even have that broken leg if it wasn’t for us.” His gaze shifted to Lan Xichen’s leg.
“Now, Jiang Cheng we’ve talked about this.” Lan Xichen said softly, because ,yes,  they have talked about it. His broken leg was his own fault. Also during those talks that’s how they came to the arrangement of Jiang Cheng coming over to help out while Nie Mingjue is at work. The two counting themselves lucky with being able to get to know Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling better.
As the other stood up to take the paintings over to Jin Ling’s backpack, he looked down at his sketches of Jin Ling with bumblebee antennas and wings in different stages of movement. A thin smile on his lips as he thinks about how his leg got broken. It’d been about a week ago that’d passed Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling’s apartment, and that’s when he made the mistake of not watching where he was going, and tripped over the toy that Jin Ling had dropped.
“So, I’ll go lay out the steaks then. Do you want anymore tea while I am in the kitchen?” Jiang Cheng asked, starting towards the kitchen. His sapphire eyes landed on the empty tea cup on the coffee table as he went.
“For all of us and yes, please.” Lan Xichen answered, smiling as the other grabbed his cup. He heard the other man mumble something he couldn’t understand but chose not to inquire. If today was the day that they got Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling Yo stay for dinner he’d consider it a success.
Jiang Cheng returned to the living room with a fresh cup of tea and seeing Lan Xichen trying to get his hair that had fallen in his face out of the way. By the second huff, Jiang Cheng couldn’t hold back the laughter that’d been bubbling up this throat.
“Here let me help.” Jiang Cheng chuckled setting the cup on the coaster. Lan Xichen stilled as he felt lithe fingers move into his hair. “I’ll braid it back for you like I did A-Ling, while we were painting. Honestly, I should have done it then for you too because you got some of the paint in your hair.”
“Thank you.” Lan Xichen replied feeling heat rising in his cheeks as Jiang Cheng braided his hair. To keep from focusing on the hands in his hair, Lan Xichen started working again on his sketches. Soon he had another page filled this time with bumblebee Jin Ling playing with a puppy.
“Oh, I see that someone got some inspiration today?” Jiang Cheng teasingly commented, looking over Lan Xichen’s shoulder to see what the other was working on while he worked Lan Xichen’s silky black hair in his hands.
“Yes, he’s just too cute.” Lan Xichen stated, “and lovely. It’s nice to draw these types of movements.”
“I’d be careful letting A-Ling see these especially with that puppy on there. You’ll never see them again.” Jiang Cheng stated in playful warning.
“Good, then I know that he’ll enjoy the gift I’m making him.”  Lan Xichen stated cheerifully. A pleasant thrill in his veins at knowing that Jiang Cheng thinks that Jin Ling will like them.
“Speaking of A-Ling.” Jiang Cheng chuckled as the sound of a child’s whine coming from the spare room the moment he finished braiding the others hair using one of his own violet hair ties on his wrist that he uses for Jin Ling and his own hair.
“Go ahead, I’ll be right here.” Lan Xichen replies smiling fondly up at him. He noticed a quick flicker of something in Jiang Cheng’s gaze before it was gone and Jiang Cheng nodded before heading to their nephew. As he watched Jiang Cheng head towards the bedrooms, Lan Xichen reached up to gently feel the braid. A warmth blossoming in his chest. He wondered what Nie Mingjue would think of his hair like this. Would he be sorry he’d recently cut his hair so short? Chuckling, Lan Xichen went back to his sketches.
It takes a little while for Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling to come out of the spare room. Lan Xichen looks up seeing that the little one in Jiang Cheng’s arms is red faced and puffy eyed. Jiang Cheng had a worried frown on his lips. The smile on Lan Xichen’s face thinned. “Is he okay?”
“Just a nightmare.” Jiang Cheng replied as his phone started to ring. Both of them recognize the ringtone as being the one for Jiang Cheng’s liaison at the company.
“Here let me take him and you answer that.” Lan Xichen said, setting aside his book, putting the pencil behind his ear, before reaching out for the toddler.
“I…” Jiang Cheng started but stopped when Jin Ling sniffled making grabby hands to Lan Xichen.
Lan Xichen inwardly preened and accepted the boy in his arms. Jin Ling’s little arms wrapping around his neck as he laid his head on Lan Xichen’s shoulder. A smile on his lips as he rubbed soothing circles on his back. Jiang Cheng stood there for a moment watching them. That look from earlier returning till he met Lan Xichen’s honeyed gaze, then he quickly went for his phone. He answered the phone while walking out onto the balcony to take the call.
“It will be okay, little one.” Lan Xichen said, using the one he’d used with Lan Wangji as a child. Jin Ling’s response was muffled by his shoulder making him chuckle. His gaze briefly wandered to the balcony seeing Jiang Cheng lean on the railing, gesturing as he talked.
“You’re one of Jiujiu’s fishies too!” Jin Ling said cheerfully, rubbing his eyes and nose, before leaning back in his lap pulling two fishtail braids over his shoulders to show them off. They looked adorable with his hair being Blackish-brown ombreing to golden blond.
“I am.” He chuckled, blushing at the thought and silent scolding himself at the same time, while Jin Ling started talking about going to the aquarium with his shushu and A-She. Somehow the conversation led to them talking about what kinds of fish and animals they’d be.
“You’d be’s a sea pancake, Mr. Lan!”
“Oh why not a koi like you?” Lan Xichen laughed. Gently tickling the boy making him squeal in laughter until he falls back on his chest to try to stop him but failing.
“Be’s-cause you smiles like them!” Jin Ling cackles making Lan Xichen laugh. Before he can say anything back Jin Ling’s head snaps towards the front door at the sound of the alarm chiming that the door has opened.
“Mr. Nie!” Jin Ling cries out happily, squirming to get out of Lan Xichen’s lap to run over to Nie Mingjue as he’s coming inside. Immediately, Nie Mingjue drops down to a knee as Jin Ling launches himself at him.
“Hey, little man.” Nie Mingjue chuckles as Jin Ling hugs him tight. He hugs back, lifting him up easily as he stands. Closing the door with his foot then kicking off his boots.
“Did you’s miss us?” Jin Ling asked loosening his grip so that Nie Mingjue can move him to his hip to walk to the living room.
“Yes, I did.” Nie Mingjue answered happily. He was about to ask if he’d been missed when he spotted Jiang Cheng on the balcony talking on the phone and Lan Xichen on the couch. His eyes stopping on the intricate braiding of his boyfriend’s hair. He didn’t need to ask who’d done it. Jiang Cheng’s beautiful work was something he’d seen countless times and currently in Jin Ling’s waist length locks.
“I’d welcome you home but I see, Jin Ling has beat me too it.” Lan Xichen teased, giving him a wink while smiling brightly, knowing what had caught Nie Mingjue’s attention.
“I’m sorry that the call took so lon...oh welcome home, Mingjue-ge.” Jiang Cheng greeted him as he stepped back inside. A thin smile on his face as he stepped up to get Jin Ling, “I’ll take him.”
“No, need.” Nie Mingjue waved him off earning a toothy grin from Jin Ling, “What are you hungry for little man?”
“Pancakes!!! Blueberry ones-is, Mr. Nie with jiujiu’s octapuddy piggy’s, and ‘ruit zalad.” Jin Lin answered.
“That sounds delicious.” Nie Mingjue cooed,”Why don’t you go play while me and Jiujiu make dinner?
“O’tay!” Jin Ling happily yelped as Nie Mingjue put him down scampering off to the guest room.
“What are octapuddy piggy’s?” Nie Mingjue asked, tone teasingly with a look in his eye that made Jiang Cheng blush and his heart skip a beat.
“Mini sausages.” Jiang Cheng answers, fidgeting for a moment under both Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue stares.
“Alright, well text me what goes in your fruit salad, Jiang Cheng.” Nie Mingjue chuckled relenting, as he steps over to the couch and gives Lan Xichen a quick peck on the lips. “I’ll be right back.”
“Where are you going?” Jiang Cheng asks, wide eyed blinking in confusion as Nie Mingjue started back towards the doorway.
“I don’t think we have any of that do we, sweetheart?” Nie Mingjue asked over his shoulder, already working to get his shoes back on.
“We have the blueberries in the freezer, my love.” Lan Xichen answered, a smile that Jiang Cheng didn’t have time to question before Nie Mingjue was moving again.
“Oh, he can just eat what we are having.” Jiang Cheng swallowed, his heart starting to race at the thought of them both wanting to take care of Jin Ling.
“Nonsense, Jiang Cheng, he’s a child. Children are supposed to be spoiled.” Nie Mingjue replies grabbing his keys. “I’ll be back. The QuickMarket down the street is still open and will have what we need.”
Before Jiang Cheng could object the man was gone. He knew he looked like a gaping fish as he turned to look at Lan Xichen but he was just speechless. He could feel the heat rising on his cheeks again.
“Xichen-ge -“
“What should we have with our steaks?” Lan Xichen asked, not letting the other continue. Nie Mingjue and him have been trying to get Jiang Cheng to stay for dinner with Jin Ling and now that they have the opportunity tonight they weren’t going to let the moment go.

Yoo! So im kinda back, AND here we have this random character I made in my phone yesterday. I have a bunch of art in the darft that I never, I have no story for her so I'm making it out in 1... 2...3
PENGUINS! S-she likes penguins. Uhhh this bad,,, let's start again.
Her name is Melany Reynolds. She has a sister called Mackenzie and they are very close. She works at the penguin area at the aquarium. She likes maintaining great relationships but fails miserably. Loves her job and end up overworking. Lives in a small apartment in Boston with her best friend, Gus (his full name is Gustavo Torrres). Gus gave her the nickname of ‘’Fishy Bitchy’’ cause she always smell like fish (he is the only one allow to call her like that). She is from Arizona but moved. Her parents are very supportive and it was their idea for her to move. She adores her family and she misses them a lot.
I think thats all
Thanks for reading my stupidness
Bye, see ya tomorrow

Illuminate
Another part of what I’ve started to call ‘Wandering Stars’, stories of self-inserts interacting with hermits. I dunno if the name is gonna stick, that’s just what the Google Doc is called.
But here’s another piece! This time with the incredible, kind, and talented @theguardiansofredland ‘s character Red. This was a challenging story, but I very much enjoyed writing it and playing with a character I never could have come up with on my own.
Tumblr media
The sun settles on the horizon, dipping into the ocean and leaving behind a trail of orange streaking across the surface. It looks like it’s melting, orange fire spilling out. As sunset turns to twilight, the coral and sea pickles below begin to illuminate. The ocean comes alive with color, unbothered by the loss of the sun. Fish swim through pillars that glow softly, shadows playing out like puppets controlled by kelp.
The last hint of the sun drowns into the sea, leaving behind a sharp flash of green across the air. Glass catches the light, refracting the emerald flash over the blue floor and twin towers, across the open cavern. And as the light fades from the sky, a glow begins to materialize on her skin. Blue specks, flecks of light swirl across her skin, fighting off the darkness and growing brighter. Like stars, they grow in intensity as the world settles into the night. Waves of light flow around patches of larger blue, the brightest resting on her shoulders and inner forearms. Symmetric stripes are barely visible through the fabric of her pants, wakes of bright blue against the swirling flecks.
They push their glasses up the bridge of their nose, squinting to get a better look at what they’ve been staking out. Red knew that a monument has been missing for some time now, but they haven’t been able to check out the report until now. There’s someone down at the bottom, below the seafloor. From sea level, all they can see is guardians rise up bubble columns of the twin spires, before falling down into a hole.
She needs a closer look. Red looks over the edge of the glass, at the sharp drop down into the backwards aquarium. There’s no water, and she obviously can’t fly. A flying fish is just ridiculous. She chuckles at the idea, before turning to the other side of the glass, which is holding the ocean at bay from the unusual structure. Peering in, Red can see her reflection in the glassy water. It’s a calm night.
Streaks of bioluminescence mark her face, symmetrical against her cheeks after rising up her neck from her back.  They look a bit like shark’s teeth at her chin from this angle, which looks pretty cool in her mind. Red’s hair is still wet from clambering out of the sea, orange and blue tones plastered against her head. Her reflection is broken as she dives in. Down, down down, into the depths of the sea. Where most people would be scared of such deep waters, she calls it home. She can feel the water rush past her face, over her fins as she speeds towards the bottom, and breathes in the cool water.
At the bottom of the structure, Red pauses to look at the strange building. It’s all made of glass, and she’d hate to break something that someone worked hard to build. Maybe she can just push a pane or two out, and sneak in without actually breaking the glass. Red reaches out, placing her palms on the smooth, cool window. She gives a push, but it doesn’t budge. She pushes again, harder. And harder, and harder, until suddenly the glass gives way under her strength.
Red and water sweep into the structure, pooling on the floor and depositing the surprised Kipling on the prismarine tile. Red only chuckles to themself. “Whoops. Maybe pushed a little bit too hard.”
Red stands, slopping through the water back onto dry stone. They made it to the bottom, but wandering around on the floor yields no information as to what is happening here. Red wanders up to the towers of water. Stepping up, they watch as guardians shoot up the column like some elevator on the fritz. The guardians flail about as flowing water sweeps them out and down a mysterious tunnel. Even when Red cranes their neck to look down the middle pillar, they can’t see the bottom.
But on the other side of the glass, around the pillar, he can see a ladder leading down. Abandoning the drop tower, Red quickly clambers down the wood ladder. Deep into the depths of the earth, the ladder spits him out in a cramped room. He looks around. The space is filled with metal hoppers and wood chests, in design that he can’t make out but knows is some sort of collection system. Down the short hall, Red sees the owner of all this.
He’s in a well dressed green suit, asleep in a chair rocked on it’s back two legs against the stone wall. Red jumps at the sound of a crash, but it’s only another hopper filling itself with goods. She turns her attention back to the human. Curiosity draws her closer. The most unusual part of the man is one of his eyes. It looks like it’s metal, with some sort of crystal or something acting as the iris. Can he see her, even though he’s asleep?
She turns away from the human, focusing back on the reason she’s here. And that reason is to understand why this is here, and what is happening to the guardians that enter the tunnel. Just beyond the sleeping man, she can see the guardians. Humans can’t notice it, but each guardian is different. Different scale patterns, different tints in the orange and blue, all making each ocular fish unique. And she can see there must be dozens of guardians crammed into a small place at the bottom of the pit. They’re wounded, but alive.
“There must be a way to get you all out of here. You guys see anything?” She jokes, winking her eye at the cycloptic guardians. She turns around in the small room, seeing lots of different buttons and levers. But none of them look to be hooked up to the fences that hold back the guardians. Red doesn’t want to mess with redstone, as much as she likes flipping switches and pushing buttons- that stuff is too much for her. It doesn’t work well in water anyways. Though sometimes she wonders what it tastes like.
But one stone button, hardly visible against the stone wall, seems like a good chance to free her fishy friends. Red hardly wastes more than a second stumbling to the button and crashing into it. At first she’s smiling, waiting for the fences to open up and for the guardians to be freed from whatever cruel trick this is.
The smile fades into horror as pistons tug stone blocks out from under the guardians, and the pit deepens just enough. Just enough that those already sitting at the bottom fall just a little further. A chorus of shrill cries escapes the stone, echoing around the hall and haunting Red’s mind. How many just died? Hoppers rumble around her, and she starts to put this all together.
She watches the farm run, even though it’s owner is fast asleep in his chair. Wind whistles across the squirming, flailing guardians. Red watches in horror through her glasses as the helpless fish fall all the way to the bottom of the pit. One after another, they screech and die with a sickening crunch against the deep, dry stone. Every time they fall, she feels her heart fall as well, breaking with their bones.  The prismarine is quickly scooped up by the hopper system, rumbling and sorting out the goods that dropped upon death.
It’s horrifying, monstrous. Humans tear down an ocean monument, stripping a home for the resources it holds. And then humans build a contraption only for death and their insatiable greed. They have to stop it. Red grabs at the button, pulling it from the wall. It doesn’t stop the endless cycle of death. They haul the heavy double chests out from under the hopper, but the items just sort into a different chest. Behind the chest, Red can see the thin trails of redstone snaking between hoppers. Lit up, making sure the system is running. They crouch down, shoving a scaly arm through the tight space between two hoppers.
She reaches her hand across the redstone, and cuts the connection. The activated redstone gives her a jolt, like holding a channeling trident during a storm. The entire system shuts down, including the water that flushes the guardians to their doom. The sorting machine falls silent, though the dying screams of guardians still echo in the cave and in Red’s mind.
Behind her, chair legs scrape against the smooth stone. “Grian I swear if you plan to shove something into my inventory again!”
Red and the human freeze, staring at each other. The suited man blinks, gazing at the unusual visitor. She’s not sure if he’s ever seen a Kipling before, much less one covered in redstone dust. She hasn’t even noticed that tears were falling until now, and her bioluminescent markings glow brighter than a sea lantern. “What are you doing to my guardian farm?”
“These aren’t for you to take!” Red states, standing up for her home and family, and standing up to her feet. “This isn’t a farm, this is massacre!” She returns to ripping the death machine apart, piece by piece, without a tool. Tossing filled hoppers across the room and risking being electrocuted.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, wait!” He approaches Red, before backing off. “Let...let’s talk about this. I’m Iskall. Why are you destroying my...my building?”
“Because you’re killing them.” Red whimpers, looking at where scales and blood splatter the wall of the pit. “Those are...that’s my family, my home you’ve destroyed.”
“The ocean monument?” Iskall questions. He looks up, as if observing the world beyond the stone cave. “I never thought anyone except these laser fish lived there.”
“It’s their home too. Would you like for someone to come and rip it all up and kill your family?” Red tries to wipe away the tears. He hates being so sensitive, forcing himself to be open to a person he doesn’t trust. It’s hard to trust humans when they do this. “All for what?”
“Sahara needs the prismarine to sell to other hermits, taking down the monuments and killing guardians is the only way.”
“If you just looked for help, looked for a different way then you wouldn’t have to! I have more prismarine than I know what to do with, all without ever hurting another guardian.” To prove her point, Red pulls out a handful of prismarine crystals. She lets it fall to the ground, Iskall’s metal eye watching her toss it away like it’s dirt.
The bearded man rubs his chin. “I never thought that anyone lived in ocean monuments, that could talk with us. This does change things.” Red looks up, meeting his gaze. “Let’s make a deal then, shall we? A real Sahara contract. You can supply Sahara with that prismarine, get it all out of your way. In return, you can...ahem, decommission my farm here. And maybe I can talk with the others and see if they can find other ways.”
Red looks around, not quite sure if this is some sort of trap or something. Not until Iskall pulls out a diamond pickaxe, offering it as a sign of good faith to the young Kipling. “You look tired, I’m sure you’re hungry. Let’s see.” He digs around in his pockets, finding a bag of sweet berries. The two munch on the fruit, until Red is satisfied and ready to get back to destroying this place. Using the pickaxe is so much better than using his hands, and he can’t help but smile as each hopper and chest is removed. Iskall even joins in, climbing up to the empty ocean. While Red frees his oceanic brethren from the twin towers, Iskall begins to refill the water he had removed. He can’t rebuild the monument, but at least he can make this place habitable again. Maybe they can make something new here, for everyone.
Destruction has never been so fun, so relieving to Red. Tearing down all her frustrations, and filling it back with the cool ocean water. It’s sunrise by the time the two finish, and Red’s markings are fading in the peeking sunlight. The two stand on the last remaining concrete block, the water below teeming with life. The pit has been waterlogged, and hopefully the tides will eventually wash away the stains of such a death-covered place.
“I think that went pretty swimmingly.” Red chuckles, looking over the ocean. In the morning light, they can see the bright colors of the coral, and thousands of tiny fish go on with their lives among the stony creatures.
Iskall laughs at the pun. “You remind me of a friend of mine, at least when you’re happy. Speaking of, I should probably get back to the other hermits. Call a meeting with the Architechs and tell them our job just got a lot easier.” He holds up a couple of prismarine shards. “And we’ve got a monopoly on the prismarine trade! Please, come visit if you ever have the chance.”
The green-suited man takes out his elytra wings, and soars off towards the mainland. Red looks out at the sunrise, the quiet ocean. Her home. She pushes up her glasses, rolls the sleeves of her shirt, and dives into the water.

Story of a Hero - 26
[First] [Previous] [Mobile] [Next] Wesley noticed, as he ate breakfast with William, that he had received an email back from his father.
He half expected it to be just a generic reply, but was pleasantly surprised to see that was far from the case.
“To Wesley
I’m sorry it took so long for me to reply to this email. I had to read it twice, and even get someone else to read it and confirm that I was seeing this right. You have no idea how much I have missed you and-” Wesley had to stop reading. Those words caused a burning flood in his eyes, and he couldn’t keep reading even if he wanted to. His voice shook. When he wiped the threatening tears away, William was looking at him with a gentle concern. “... How much I have missed you and how happy I am to hear from you. I don’t know what, exactly, your mother told you about me, but I never abandoned you for another family or anything like that. The truth of the matter is a little more complex. I don’t know if you remember, but when I would call, you would walk down the street and meet me at the corner. One Saturday afternoon, I called, only to find that the number had been disconnected, and that your mother had changed you schools. Our separation agreement came with a restraining order, which was why you had to walk down the street to meet me.” “See, I told you it was fishy,” said Bitt. Wesley nodded to her. “That’s… What it says, right, Will?” he asked, handing the phone over to William. He snorted, saying something about ‘like father, like son’, before reading it and confirming. Wesley took back his phone and let out a happy sigh. Relief washed over him. “He missed me, too.” “You believed your mom?” “I was twelve.” William sighed and shook his head, though he understood. She’d been preying on his fears. Poor Wesley. He got up, put his bowl away, and gave him a hug in passing. The email ended with a phone number. Rather than reply to the email, Wesley sent a text.
[Wes] Hi, dad.
[James] Wesley? Good morning! It’s so good to hear from you. Weird, I actually saw you on the news recently.
He was surprised at how quickly the reply came, but worried, and looked to Bitt nervously. On the news recently… So even his father had seen that.
[Wes] I’m so sorry.
[James]
You’re sorry for helping people? Putting out a fire before it hurt someone is not something to apologize for… Unless you’re apologizing for having powers? But that’s not something you need to be sorry for, either.
He didn’t have to be sorry for having powers… Even though that wasn’t what he was referring to, it was incredible how stark the contrast between his parents was. His mother had made him sorry for it his entire life, and yet… His father was brushing it off.
[Wes] I was the Meir that froze the park that day, I thought you were referring to that, not to me…. Helping with that fire.
[James]
You were a meir? Why? What happened? Are you safe??
If he’d thought that his father had replied fast beforehand, this text came in even quicker- before he had even put the phone down to take another bite of his toast. Worried concern and love. A familiar feeling… One that time didn’t seem to affect.
[Wes] I’m more than okay. It opened my eyes to how much mom was hurting me. She was always saying my powers were a sin and trying to burn them out of me and whatnot, and I’d wanted to prove her wrong. I was so proud of having helped someone, but… she shot me down and it hurt.  Staying with good friends now.
[James]
Karen always hated metahumans. I couldn’t change her mind, I’m not surprised that you couldn’t, either. I’m so sorry you had to go through something like that, but I’m happy to hear that you’re safe… And so happy to hear from you. I have to get to work, but now that you have my phone number, feel free to message or call me any time. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I love you.
It made Wesley so happy to read that the was loved that he almost forgot why he’d started this whole ordeal in the first place.
[Wes]
WORK! Right! I want to tell you! I got a job at the Aquarium, I start next week! I love you too. Have a good day digging out the truth!
Bayesh and William walked past him as they left, and he waved them off before going to get ready for his own classes, happy as a cloud.
But the universe worked in strange, mysterious, and oftentimes very funny ways. He walked into the campus, mind abuzz with thoughts of fish and fathers and fights, when he was stopped by a man. “Excuse me young man, do you have-” Two sets of brown eyes caught one another and widened. It was like looking in a mirror. “...Dad?” Wesley asked first. “Wesley?” replied his dad, before they burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all. They;d just been talking for the first time in years, only to run into each other in the next place they went by pure happenstance. It reminded him of that whole phenomena of learning a word and then having it suddenly appear everywhere. Class be damned, thought Wesley, he could miss a single class for something like this. It was a special occasion. “You were heading to class,” his father remarked, “I just stopped you because you were walking leisurely… But I don’t want you to be late, so get.” “But- You were going to ask me something, right?” he prodded. “Not if it will make you late for class. Wesley Jacob Rivers, get to class.” Or not. That familiar expression… Even though it had been a while, he knew it well, when he wouldn’t clean up a mess or get out of the tub when he was told it was bedtime… That was a dad look. A stern dad look. A dad would dad. It didn’t matter if you were two or twenty. Wesley gave a resigned sigh. “Fine, I’ll go. Guess your own child’s not too credible a source anyways… But you know who is..? Emy!” He called, and a girl sitting in the corner of the hall looked up, curious. “Ems, this is my dad. He’s a journalist. Dad, this is Emy Leblanc, and she’s part of the student council. I bet she has the answers to whatever questions you have! And, I’m out!” he exclaimed. “Sorry to bother you, miss. Do you have any thoughts on tonight’s statue unveiling?” was what Wesley managed to overhear as he hurried to class.
It was hard to concentrate on the lesson. Symbiosis and marine life. William had been researching the forced symbiosis of Adex to try and gleam anything useful from it… Two things working together in different ways, for different goals, but helping each other. Adex… Wesley had to keep from smiling as a brilliant thought blossomed in his head. He might have figured out how to handle that wind witch after all. All of the good happening in his life must have helped, because he would never have considered that the secret to defeating her…
Was himself.
----
“Music, on.” “Armor, on.” “Ready?” “Ready.”
Wesley and Kat nodded proudly to one another, ready to enact their plan. That was, of course, if their previous assailants showed their faces tonight. If not, then their night wouldn’t be entirely wasted- they could hop about and enjoy the quiet night before snow fell more permanently and made it more difficult. For a while, it seemed like they would be doing nothing but patrolling and talking, but before they could become entirely complacent, Kat, from the corner of her eye, caught sight of something silver.
It was not the smug form of that Wind girl. It was a large pipe, and she just barely managed to avoid it. She hopped back to Wesley and grabbed his arm as the building beneath them shook on impact. She moved them to an adjacent building, to see better, but there was no mistaking it; only one thing could fling a large pipe like that.
“Meir,” Wesley said, pointing to a great mass of hulking clay with pipes jutting out of it. People ran from it, many stumbling over fancy shoes or tripping over dropped cameras. “Call Angel,” Kat said to Wesley, but as she went to leap, she realized her boot was frozen to the roof. Smart, enacting the plan they’d come up with to fight Skye on /her/. But this really wasn’t the time. “No, no, no. You are NOT going to go fight that Meir, the-” “Of course not, Wesley! I’m going to get those people out of the way!” she cut him off. He let her go. She flickered away, and he sighed, stepping away from the edge. He had to release his armor to get his phone out, but he’d luckily had the foresight to put Angel’s number on speed dial. “Good evening, this-” “Angel, there’s a Meir attacking people,” Wesley said quickly. He felt bad for cutting her off, but it was urgent. “Oh. Where, exactly?” She asked. Wesley took a quick look at his surroundings, having forgotten to do so in his panic and worry. All of these buildings were incredibly familiar… He paled. “My college. It’s attacking my college.” He glanced back at the Meir, watching a little black figure flicker here and away with people.
His classmates. His professors… And his father. Tonight was supposed to be the unveiling of the new statue for the Aboriginal center.  Something must have gone terribly wrong. A statue… A meir…
“Angel? I have a plan to stop the meir from moving until you guys can get here. “Go ahead, Wesley,” she said immediately. How she could stay so calm in such a worrying situation was beyond him, but there was a warmth in her affirmation… It was like being told she believed in him. She didn’t even need to know what his plan was, she just… trusted him to make the right decision.
Wesley took a deep breath. The Meir, like the statue, was made of clay. From the looks of it, this was unfired clay, so it had moisture in it that he could freeze and make it stop moving, but... It was a big Meir. Much bigger than him, bigger than any ice wall he’d ever managed to make… Maybe he was biting off way more than he could chew after a- No. That was the fear talking. There were people that he loved down there, and those people needed him to be brave. They needed him to do this, so he would do it. That was that. Fear be damned, he would protect his family. ‘I can do this, I can do this, I need to do this, I can do it’ he repeated to himself, closing his eyes to steady himself, taking a deep breath, and-
A hand settled on his back and his eyes shot open… But there was something wrong with the world he saw before him. It felt like it was humming, somehow, but he couldn’t explain it. Humming and quiet at the same time… It took him a moment to realize that the world was frozen around him; everything had stopped moving. Even the snow had frozen in place before him.
He knew he could move, but he didn’t. The hand moved, however, never cutting contact, until it was on his shoulder, and a familiar golden eyed figure stood beside him. His eyes looked even brighter than usual. “Oh. You-You’re doing this,” said Wesley. It clicked in his mind. This boy had control over time. “Yes. I’m giving you a moment to gather your strength. Don’t be afraid. You’re much more powerful than you know,” he said softly, encouragingly. Just like the fight- always encouraging. “I can do it,” Wesley agreed. Clay froze and became brittle. He just needed to concentrate on freezing it from the bottom upwards. It was cold outside already, snowing gently. That just meant more water, and more cold for him. Even the world around them was in his favor; it believed in him too. It was encouraging him.
To his surprise, a hand covered his eyes. Immediately after, he felt the ground vanish from his feet, and then appear again- different… But familiar. He wasn’t surprised to see that he was on the terrace now, before the Meir. It was daunting, bigger than him, but he remembered- The boy who manipulated time said that he could do it, and had such a certainty to him that Wesley couldn’t help but feel that he had done it in a past only he’d lived. And Angel believed in him. And the universe, snowing encouragingly, believed in him.
The Meir moved towards him, but each step was slower than the last. He put everything he had into the freezing cold ice that cracked and cracked as the clay stiffened, fighting to move until it finally came to a stop. Keeping it there was still a struggle, ever pushing, and Wesley could only hope that help showed up soon. This was very, very difficult. But he was doing it.
Kat realized that the Meir had stopped moving and, consequently, had stopped throwing pipes and mud at where she had been seconds prior. There was… really no need for her to continue ferrying people away, and it didn’t seem like anyone had gotten pinned under any debris. Wesley was not where she had left him. The thin sheet of glistening ice surrounding the Meir, however, was a good indication to his whereabouts. And he’d been preaching at her about not confronting the Meir. She appeared beside him in a huff. “I- Called Angel. Stop- Glaring at- me like that,” Wesley hissed out, struggling.
Right. On top of patrols, Angel had said that they could participate in ‘other activities’ in special circumstances. This must be what she was talking about.
Kat figured that talking to Wesley any further might break his concentration, and so she silently surveyed their surroundings in case she had missed someone who needed help, or she saw the real cavalry arriving.
She saw neither, but she did see a witch and a shadowy boy.
Kat’s first instinct was to leap up there and attack. This was a terrible time for them to show up, now that Wesley was struggling to keep a Meir from wrecking up more of the joint…
But the two showed no signs of hostility, and charging in like an angry bull hadn’t gone well for her last time. It absolutely would not go well if she had to face both of them alone. As long as they didn’t take advantage of the situation to attack Wesley, she wouldn’t attack. But she still wanted to know their motives.
She looked over to Wesley, sighed, and then looked back to them, before making her way up there. It wasn’t like she could help him, anyways.
“Sup, kitty cat? Sorry, now’s not a good time for a rematch,” Skye greeted, waving her hand at her.  Though her snarky, dismissive behaviour frustrated Kat, she managed to calm down and stay civil. The music in her ear probably helped.
“What are you two up to? Obviously you’re not trying to kill us because you’d have done it already, so what’s your /deal/?” she asked, keeping her voice down enough that it wouldn’t disturb the struggling Wesley. Skye’s smug smirk turned into a pleased grin. “Wow, looking before we leap, are we? I guess cats can learn tricks, too!” Kat crossed her arms and grumbled. Not worth the fight, she repeated to herself, not worth the fight. There were more important things. “Our purpose is to observe,” the boy said. Between the both of them, he wasn’t certain which he disliked more. The mocking girl, or the stalker boy. “Yup, and right now, I’m observing our cue to leave approaching. We’ll see you next time, kitty cat,” she said… And with that, they were gone, leaving black smoke in their wake, and a confused and frustrated Kat.
But the cavalry was arriving. Wesley was still struggling. It was probably for the best that they’d left. She’d hate to have to try and explain everything to her dad. As it was, Wesley looked about to drop, and she figured that was way more important.
-
The line at Cafe Nocturna was long after the whole mess. Kat supposed she was not the only one who seeked the sweet, calming embrace of a warm hot chocolate after such an event. She and Wesley were standing in line… Or rather, she was standing, and he was exhaustedly using her as a support to stay on his feet, when she nudged him. His dazed expression cleared a little as he looked up. “Hey, That guy on his laptop sure looks fami-” She hadn’t even finished her sentence and Wesley perked up, shouting “Dad!” over the din of the busy cafe. The man looked up, searching for the noise, and when Kat turned to look for Wesley, he was gone. At least she knew where he had gone, she supposed. And she was the one with the money.
Wesley excused himself, weaving between patrons before arriving at the cozy little booth his father must have gotten himself before the crowd arrived. He was all set up, with his laptop, and camera, and pad of paper filled with scribbled notes. “Reporting on the Meir?” he asked. The question, to his surprise, brought not a nod of acquiescing, but a frustrated frown. “I probably should, right? But… A bunch of journalists and reporters are having a protest and strike next week, trying to change how Meirs are reported on. I wasn’t going to stick my nose in it, but… between you and this? It kind of puts me in a bad spot. If I write about what happened, it wouldn’t be too difficult for a bigot with two brain cells and an internet connection to look up who made the statue and then go after the poor kid. It’s bad enough someone defaced his statue before it was revealed.” “Someone defaced Nathaniel’s statue?” Wesley shouted. Fortunately it was too loud around him to bother anyone but the people around… But most had witnessed it, anyways. That was why they were here. He settled down with a sigh, looking down at the table. If only he weren’t so tired, maybe he could think of something that might help his dad. As it was, he had no story to write… At least, none he could morally write.
As he was observing the wood of the table, something slipped into his view. A cup. “Well, if it isn’t miss Katie!” James exclaimed, “Still close as ever, I see?” Kat laughed. She hadn’t been called ‘katie’ in what felt like forever. “Some things don’t change. You’re still writing, I see?” she pointed to his papers, before sitting next to Wesley. As much as she didn’t want to intrude on family bonding time, there… Wasn’t anywhere else to sit. “Yeah. It’s what I love… Even when I get the boring jobs… Granted, I would have rathered a boring job over this one,” he sighed again. Wesley filled her in- on Nathaniel, on the statue, and on the protests. Kat listened attentively, sipping her hot chocolate as he spoke. How she could drink just-made hot chocolate without flinching, he’d never know. “That’s fair. I mean… Meirs are caused by pain… For this to happen, that statue must have meant so much to him…” “The statue, the center...Nat’s reserve is an hour away, it’s as close to family and home as he gets… Oh. That’s a thought. I can ask him if he wants to speak to you- And you can write the story about how much the statue and center meant to him, why he was so upset… And how horrible the person who defaced it was. Point the blame where it goes.” The blame where it goes… Kat’s mind drifted to the two she’d encountered again tonight.
Their meaning was to observe…
Tools for another’s purpose.
Were they to blame? Or were they as much a victim as a Meir was?
And if so, the question was less why…
But more…
Who?

“Wow, what a waste of time,” Skye mumbled. They had not gone far; they had found a nearby park to vanish to. It was a quiet little place with very little. A few trees, a patchwork of fallen leaves and dying flowers, but most importantly, it had benches covered under a gazebo. The snow made everything wet, but they were dry beneath the structure. Which was good, because Skye would have been even more frustrated if, on top of all of that, she would have sat down on a /wet/ park bench. “I would not call it a waste, really,” her brother replied, eyes trained on a plump brown squirrel trying to clamber up a barren tree. There was always something different to look at here; the shapes of the leaves, the spiderwebs woven in the wood of the benches… The squirrel carrying out its purpose, whatever it was. He found a small comfort in that… Or maybe he just liked how predictable and fluffy it looked. Fluffy things were nice. “Yeah, and why is that?” From her seat, she could see but his back- and so she could not see the way his lips mouthed the words she spoke silently, as she spoke them. Familiar. “ I learned there are plans in the works for a media reform when it comes to reporting on Meirs. In fact, many are planning a protest. Our existence has been made that much more crutial.” “A useless Meir, no new info on those kids, and this? You know he’s going to have a bitch fit, right?” “I am aware, yes,” he almost mouthed those words, too, but he remembered to actually speak. “But I have also noticed that Bayesh Saarinen seems to be showing himself more often. And knowing of his fondness…” Skye hopped to her feet and patted him on the head. “That’s smart! Maybe he won’t explode… too much?” “Hopefully…” “Okay! In the meantime, I am going to find some newspapers. You be safe,” she said, and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“You should really tell her,” a voice hissed in his ear when she was far away enough not to hear it.
But he remained ever quiet.

Aquaria (Part One of Three) [I've Gone Daft]
Link: SFS [Folder]
This is the First Part of the Aquaria Series, where I put on full display my complete insanity for all to see.
I first made all of this shortly after I completed my Small Pets items back in June of last summer (2018), right after MFPS came out. Then, the official team threw us all in a tizzy with the announcement of Seasons. I thought to myself at first, "Cool.", then I thought to myself, "Crap.", as I did not know if/how pools would be affected and what it might do to all of what I had just made...
This is all a 'mini-Stuff Pack' of aquariums, and things to make scenery in pool "aquariums". Maxis meshes 100%, and everything, with the exception of three decor items which need EP02 (Get Together) (the Ruins Decor) is BaseGame Compatible 96 of the 99 files). Or, so the theory goes. I have no way of telling, myself, but as I understand it everyone gets all of the tunings and all of the various game FX whether one has a certain pack or not. With the exception of the structure and outside decor used in the screenshots, you get everything that is featured. The only non-CC game items that I used in the 'Aquaria' for the photos are the pool lights on the floor and walls. The 'aquarium' walls are a medium height as shown.
These are not pre-set groups of staged FX, they are 'real' aquariums and fishbowls. They have all of the standard interactions of the objects, including the non-functional lighting interaction. No custom tuning for the aquaria, all done with simple basic Wizardry. I really wanted to have a set of seamless windows to go with the set, but decided to move on instead of holding myself back waiting for those to maybe happen. Parts Two and Three will be the 36 water color tints and the miscellaneous other 'external' fish-holding items that I have made over time, all updated and ready to me stocked with little fishy friends...
Presentation was also a Huge hindrance for me, as I really wish that I had a video card that could capture the Aquaria in action, but alas my trusty old 760 GTX isn't up for that particular task...
§ The Lot - I wanted to build something 'simple' to show all of the items off in one place, and this is what I came up with as 'simple'. Left is a view from just below the unseen 4th floor 'roof', Right is taken on the ground floor with walls up, so you can see what they look like from above, and also how the game engine cuts out the fish FX from what distance...
§ Fountain Pads - Each of the separated lotus blossom pieces (1,2 or 3 blossoms) are individually a 'fishbowl' and you can see the tiny little fishes swimming near the flowers. I had to go with the 'fishbowl' fish, as the 'aquarium' size fish have too unpredictable of an animation path to fit into a fountain.
§ The three different 'environments' that I created to make different kinds of 'aquariums'... First, I show the 'green' one, which I made to look 'Mediterranean' with the ruins, and algae-covered. Second, the 'tropical ocean' one, which has more colorful accessories and 'fauna'. In this one I am showing the Egyptian ruins from S3. Lastly, a sandy 'Desert' kind of environment (huh? Desert Aquarium?), with the dinosaur bones and whatnot... All three show from the outside and from above.
§ But what do they look like from the inside? In the first pictures, on the right you can notice the first re-color of fish that I am bring into this set (optional, of course) which is an altered Guppy. Additionally, you can notice how the 'bottom-dwelling fish behave when placed into an 'aquarium'... In the second shots you can see my re-coloring of the Vampire Squid (subtly made the eyes more blue) and my much improved Discus fishes. The 'Desert' inside shots show on the Left you can see my recolored Mountain Lionfish (I wanted to to be a *bit* more colorful), and my recolored Betta, which I wanted to be more like my favorite 'Peacock Blue' varietal, on the Right you can see my much improved Cichlid... for some reason I missed capturing my koi recolor, for which I wanted the simple all-white with a red cap variety. Each of the individual rocks (not to be confused with the decor rock groupings) are an aquarium, with the capacity of the standard 6 fish of your choice (4 in the case of the cloned Dine Out ones), and the small individual rocks are each a fishbowl, so you can have some extra size and placement variety. I *could* have simple copied each aquarium's rig/slot, but then when together, one would have had a pretty narrow, even dense layer of fish, so I edited them into more of a column, and they have differing heights for the most variety.
§ And to finish all of it off are photos that I am calling 'My Shame', because of how I did the tuning coding. As with my earlier release, where I give Full Credit to @coolspear1 for him having written the code which showed me the way to being able to make a fishbowl where one could purchase any fish (I wrote that code utilizing his as guidance only), this time I did something much dirtier, much nastier, and 'unclean' for me to have done. I wouldn't have done it this way if I didn't want to bang out this item as an additional 'accessory' for the Aquaria Set. I *thought* I might be content using a fishbowl that has the 'Purchase Fish' interaction that I had written, but doing it one fish at a time was going to lead to me never ever getting the demo 'aquariums' filled, so I blatantly used *his* code for his amazing 'Purchase Any Flower/Herb' mod only inserting my code for the fish. I do not take any credit for the fish statue to buy multiple fish at a time. I give all credit for the tuning of this item to He Who Is My Favorite Coding modder - @coolspear1, whose collection of Must-have (for me, at least) mods are found HERE (SimsAsylum). Without installing the additional tuning file from the set, you will neither be able to purchase from any of the fishbowls (coming in Set Three of the Aquaria release), nor will you be able to use the fish statue either...
As a 'Why Not?' kind of extra something to add to the pile, one archive has individual lilypads that each have one of three different rainbow FX ad seen in the first set of shots. Coming next are the 36 water recolors, then lastly will be the collected aquariums and fishbowls that I have made over time, checked and re-released all together... All that talking at you and I didn't even mention how many swatches of what item, but I believe that you can find enough of each thing to get what you may desire from it all.
§ Note: One cannot access the ‘aquarium’ rocks from the surface, and be sure that there are no ‘hidden’ mesh planes blocking access to the rock. Otherwise, Have Fun!
Cheers, Everybody! Thank You ALL for Following me!

Here little fishy- The Faerie Found, The Faerie Saved part seven.
Part one  Last part  Next part Oh god super anxious about this one! Feedback sosososo appreciated. Taglist (ask to be added or removed): @the-yandere-kitsune @musical-in-theory ~Two years later~
“Hey mum, come quick! The sharks have swum round here!” Zach screamed, turning his head round to look at his mother. “Mum!” He repeated. His elder sister, Kylie, tugged on his shoulder. “Zach, you’re missing them…” She whined. “But mum-” “That’s her fault, innit?” She asked. Zach nodded and turned back.
Stacy turned back to see her kids with their noses pressed against the aquarium glass. She peered down at her watch.“Okay, it’s time to go now.” She announced, to much complaining. But Stacy was the kind of woman who’s mind couldn’t be changed, and they had a bus to catch.
As Zach and his sister were walking through the glass tunnel, listening to the ripples of water, everything seemed to go dark.  “Mum?” “Mum’s too far ahead, Zachy.” She reached out to grab his hand, but instead he gripped her arm.
The water in the glass went black, the lights went out, then the glass cracked, and the children screamed a piercing, ear-splitting scream.
“Don’t be scared…” a voice spoke softly. The water seemed to ripple around them, but it wasn’t touching them.  “Who are you?” Kylie asked. A small green light flickered into existence, floating around the kids. “Who, me? I’m a faerie.” It stated, smugly.  “No you’re not.” Zach accused, pointing at the light. “Oh? I’m not?” it taunted. “Then what am I?” “You’re uh…” Zach tried to think. “You’re a glowing light.” “Shut up, Zach.” Kylie murmured.
The fae laughed loudly. “No, no, I get it. Well, what if I could prove it?” It fluttered round them, muttering some words in an unknown language, and with a small blast of sparks, a shoal of luminous fish appeared around them. The kids gasped, watching the fish weave in and out, round them. Zach looked at them with some confusion. “They’re only small.” He said, in disappointment, right before the light swirled round, conjuring the biggest shark Zach had ever seen. “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you.”
The kids looked up in wonder. “Wow!” Zach gasped.  All of a sudden, Kylie glanced around anxiously. “Mum- we need to go, Zachy…” She tugged on his arm. The faerie stopped flickering and paused in front of them.
They couldn’t actually see a silhouette of a person, nor hear more than a silky stream of words. No tonal change, or flutter of wings. Just a small, softly-spoken, light.“Well- I’m very tired, I should go back to the forest. You head back to your mum…” the fae began to fade out.
“Wait!” screamed Zach “If you’re so tired, you can stay in Kylie’s dollhouse if you like.” He tried to smile politely. “Are you sure?” the fae asked, to the confirming nods of the children. “Then I owe you two something. You two should come with me visit the fairy village, what d’ya think of that?” the kids grinned and gasped, completely enchanted. “That’s settled, then. Tomorrow, I’ll distract the babysitter, then- we’ll go visit my friends.”
The kids nodded and turned to run off to their mum, as the aquarium returned to normal. For some reason, it seemed as if their mum was still but a few steps ahead of them. It must have been magic.
Never mind that they never told the faerie about the babysitter, they were going to see the faeries!
