Hi :) how are you doing? How is your day so far? Are you doing alright? I see a lot of dan and phil on your blog. As usual probably 😂 but im glad that you (still) enjoy them and even though all i know about them is basically through you i like seeing you having fun there with reblogs and all. So yeah keep that up 😊 Since when did you even follow them? And how come? Like how did you find them the first time? Also im curious is that your main fandom currently? And if you dont mind me asking is there stuff like shows movies etc that you recently enjoyed watching or are you simply consumed by dan and phil vids these days? :D i hope its ok i just came in here to ask you all that. Dont feel obligated to answer this though. So either way thanks and have a wonderful rest of the day 🤗
Oh god I'm so sorry if you followed me for one of the thai dramas I was blogging about 💀 Yeah, right now I am fully engulfed in dan and phil content because they're doing this thing where they post a video every day in december up to christmas! And I am very excited about the return of their gaming channel which was on hiatus for like 5 years. I think I discovered them back in like 2015? But I was pretty much a casual fan then and I only started watching more of their videos during the peak of the pandemic and they brought me a lot of comfort during a period of time that was really hard for me (I mean, not just for me, more like the whole world) Anyway yeah, right now they're the only content I consume as I'm also quite busy irl (uni + job 🥲) I'm not watching any shows at the moment, but I do intend to watch some of the thai dramas that are coming up! And I'll probably post about them when I do. I've had this blog for so many years (too many) and I've never been in just one fandom, I always just reblog posts about whatever I am into at the moment and that's probably not going to change, like I said I am sorry but I'm not really 🤣 everyone is allowed to unfollow me whenever they want! (I hope this doesn't come off as an attack towards you or anything, you were really nice and I really appreciate your ask, I love ranting about stuff I like 😁 and I'm glad you like my posts even if you aren't into them!) Anyway, thank you for this ask and I hope you're having a lovely day/night too!

Did I read correctly? Requests are open? Yay!!! Lately I’ve had a thing for bathtime and especially hair washing!!! Just some romantic, soft, and fluffy LU/Reader bubble bath hair washing. (Extra points if reader has a rubber ducky. There is just something so innocent about adults with small childish things.)
Reader/Wild, Reader/Twilight, and Reader/Legend. You can stop there or add the other boys if you want.
This is my humble request.
Yep, standard requests were open, as of now though it's only event requests for the time being!!
this was fun to write, so thank you for it!! just some pure fluff with the boys you've asked for below the cut <3 it'll go wild, twilight then legend
[masterlist]
Wild
Tumblr media
“Wild I’ve been meaning to ask for a while now, when’s the last time that you washed your hair?”
“It washes when I go swimming, Why would I waste time washing it?”
“...Wild.”
Serious, I can tell by the look of shame on his face that he’s genuine here. He’s never taken care of his hair before, never even considered it needs taking care of. Would he even know what shampoo or conditioner is?
“...Wild.” “What’s even the issue if I haven’t, my hair is fine.”
“Time said that there’s going to be a bath in this inn, I am going to be washing your hair for you. I have some good-quality soap from my world left, I’ll be using them to get you clean”
“[name] really, I don’t have an issue with it. Don’t waste your belongings on me.”
They’re stubborn I’ll give him that, but that doesn’t mean that he gets a pass to not being clean. Even if I break my hairbrush wrangling it through his hair, I swear that I’ll get every last twig out of it.
“Look wild, I don’t exactly want my future partner looking like this constantly.”
“Your future …partner? Why would they..? OH. OH.”
Well no escaping this now, might as well roll with it. Even though he looks like he both wants to combust and is about to start laughing at this very moment. And well, it isn’t as if his giggling isn’t sweet to hear, I just wish I hadn’t made a fool out of myself in front of him to get him to. It should be easier to convince him to let me help clean him up anyway, so that’s worked a little in my favour anyway.
“Yeah, so I’m going to clean you up a bit wild. It won't be unpleasant either I swear.”
With how caught off of his guard he is it wasn’t hard to drag him up to our shared room and into the ‘revolutionary’ bathroom, not that plumbing is common at all here, best case scenario the water is warm enough for a comfortable bath. Thankfully I’ve got more than enough supplies to make it as comfortable as I can for him, guess that's what happens when you get yanked by a shadow when you’re on the way to a friend's house to have a mock spa sleepover.
“Is it bad that I still don’t want you to waste your few memories of home on me?”
“I don’t - It’s not a waste if it’s for you wild. Come on I’m running the tub with some bubble bath and if you don’t use it then that will be the waste”
With an almost petulant grumble, he got undressed and slipped into the bath with a contented sigh signalling that I could finally get to work on his hair. Sitting on a stool behind him to start working, gently brushing his hair with a comb to get everything out so that I can lather up his hair, just make him feel like he’s the most important person for a while. Keeping my bag next to me so that I can get anything from it quickly. The way that he’s practically melting under my touch tells me all I need to know about how much he likes this, it’s a little similar to when you pet a cat and they how just don’t stop butting against your hand none stop. Now that I think on it… I might still have that joke gift in my bag still…
“[name]... why did you stop… it feels so nice I don’t wanna get out yet…”
“To think you didn’t even want to do this at first, if you get out though I’ll lend you some of my clothes?”
That did the trick, practically instantly after saying that he was out of the bath and drying himself off. Giving myself just enough time to pull out the dressing gown and gimmick a pair of cat ears that are way too realistic. A twink in cat ears, if that won’t be a reminder of home what will.
“I’ve got these for you if you’d like to wear them? The dressing gown is warm anyway…”
“...And the ears?”
“Oh these? I grabbed them as a joke, you don’t have-”
I don’t even finish my sentence and he’s already nabbed them out of my hands and has them on his head, like he’s almost proud of the fact he’s wearing them. Like he’s been looking for a reason to get closer and be cuddly with me. Wait if anything the look on his face was like he already knew I had them, did he go sneaking though my bag? Or did he look through the camera roll that time I gave him my phone.
“Nyah.”
“Wild how long have you been waiting for something like this?”
“Do you want me to answer that or do you just want to cuddle with me and deal with answers later.”
“...”
“I knew you’d prefer cuddles.”
Twilight
Tumblr media
“So this place has hot springs and proper bathing then?”
“Seems it from what all the signs are sayin’, guess he’s noticed how much you’ve been dyin’ for one.”
“Has it really been all that obvious?”
If he did that means that the others probably noticed as well, which would be surprising seeing as no one’s teased me for wanting one. That likely means Twilight went and asked Time himself. He went and asked time himself just for me, I didn’t even ask for him to do that, I never even mentioned wanting one out loud. Is he like this with everyone?
“[name] you look a bit flustered, you alright?”
“...it wasn’t a big enough issue that you had to go and ask time to stop here.”
“How’d you -”
Ah, he certainly didn’t expect me to figure his secret out so quickly, but he did have the decency to blush and look caught out anyway. A little like a hurt puppy now that I get a better look, he’s cute like this.
“Well, an-nyway darlin’ I wanted to ask if you’d let me wash your hair for you… I - you’ve talked about how much you value your hair an’ I…”
Oh Twi come on, my heart can only take so much right now. He’s trying so hard to make my heart simply melt for him and it’s working so damn well. How could I ever bring myself to say no to him when he’s asking so politely and looking after me like this? I can’t that’s the simple answer.
“Yeah, I would… I’d love that link, I’ve still got some soaps and such too… I mean if you’d want we could…  even share a bath? It’s simply a better use of what I’ve got left from home right?”
“Right - right, just to make the most of your supplies of course.”
Now we’re both blushing, but he said yes, he wants to share a bath with me. We’re on the way to the baths right away and we’re gonna share one. I think I have a spare set of clean clothes, could I though? I could after… But for now, we’ve just got to get undressed because Twilight’s already walked us to the bathhouse extension of the inn and to where the baths are. So I just have to get out my stuff and undress while he starts filling it, this is fine, I won’t be a flustered mess during this.
“I’ve got some lavender bubble bath as well as some shampoo and conditioner? Do you like the smell of lavender twi?”
“Lavender? I’m not sure we gave that here darlin’, if you say it’s good I’ll trust you though.”
“Okay then, just drop some into the water while it's filling so it’ll bubble while… we get undressed.”
Just take your clothes off [name] and get into the bath, simple, easy, you can do this. You can do this. Take a deep breath and take them off. Alright, they’re off now, just got to.
“You gonna get in darlin’?”
“I’m coming now, don’t worry. What do you think of the smell anyway tw- how’d you get that?”
If there has been a single time in Hyrule where I’ve wished above all else that I had my phone working, it would be now. Twilight leaning fully into his wolf side with my rubber duck in his mouth leaning over the top of the bath, it’s so cute I have to stifle a giggle as I slip into the bath. It makes doing this a little less awkward with him being such a goof, but after taking the first step in it’s even less stressful as he drops the duck.
“Want me to start washing your hair now?”
“Mhm, it’d be nice.”
And it really is, his rugged hands are so gentle as he runs them through my hair making sure to clean every inch, using the soaps as I suggest. It’s one of the nicest things I’ve gone through, a little hard to not fall asleep in his arms; I think he’s seen that now as well as he’s rinsing it off. I wish it could last for longer though, he’s so gentle. Between his gentle touches and the smell of lavender, how could I resist it? I won’t pass out in a bathtub though, no matter how tempting he is.
“So want me to wash yours twi? It’s only fair.”
“Nah darlin’ I already have, when you were dozin off.”
With that he decides to get out of the bath just to put a - very kindly provided- towel on only to lift me up out of the bath while I’m already too embarrassed to act, drying me off and setting me on a stool with a chuckle. Only to fluster me further by wrapping his hooded pelt over my head with another laugh, tossing some of his clothes to me so that I can get dressed.
“Huh..?”
“Wild mentioned you wanted to try ‘em on, so why not? I think you’d look cute anyway.”
“..Especially with how red you are.”
“THE BATH WAS HOT LINK.”
Legend
Tumblr media
“So what’s the deal with the captain act?”
“...What?”
“You’re checking yourself out in my shield like he does, what’s the deal with that?”
He’s not even wearing the shield I don’t see what the issue is, I’m only trying to get my hair to look half-decent while it’s so greasy. How do the links deal with this for so long it’s disgusting, I’m not even a clean freak but doing this much moving without having even a 20 second shower? I feel disgusting and that’s not an understatement.
“Look I’m not used to going this long without bathing, bite me.”
Oh, now he looks even more worked up, lovely, not like I’m trying to come off as a city slicker but I’m just not used to life like this.
“Wild found a hot spring nearby, you should be able to clean up there. Rulie has a couple of bars of soap too, reckon I can weasel us a bit of time to escape for a bit”
What.
“I get you’re shocked but we won’t be staying here after tomorrow, so if you want to clean up then now is your best shot.”
He’s right, by the sounds of it, it really is my best shot. I’m just shocked that it’s coming from him of all people, not that I should be looking too much into it right now just gotta have a bit of time to clean off. Hot water simply would be divine now after so long with nothing.
“It is, you’re not lying there I’ll give you that. Wait. ‘us a bit of time?’ you want to come with me?”
A shrug. Lovely that gives so many answers about what I asked him, I now know exactly why he wants to go with me when I’m going to bathe. Does he not see the issue with implying you want to go somewhere with someone and watch them bathe.
“Don’t give me that look, you know how dangerous everywhere is with the black-blooded monsters. It’s not safe on your own. Especially not vulnerable like that.”
“Yeah but you have to know that I’m still not used to this world and my home has very different implications for that. I’m still adjusting, okay?”
He’s as red as his hair now, if he didn’t have such a pout I’d say it’s cute otherwise, it’s just downright adorable to look at. Getting to know each others cultures is fun, more so when it gets him so worked up over a simple implication. Unless he actually did have a different idea but was too shy to ask.
“HEY DON’T GIVE ME THAT LOOK I WAS OFFERING TO LOOK AFTER YOU!”
“Yeah sure, you certainly didn’t want to ask for anything else, whatsoever, not at all.”
“...”
“..?”
“... So what if I wanted to wash your hair for you, it’s not my fault it looks so soft.”
Well that was a surprisingly innocent ask, not one I’d turn down either having my hair washed for me when I’m sitting in a hot spring sounds like pure bliss. For how he acts he seems to get my facial expressions well with how he’s ran off to get the soap from hyrule to getting directions from Wild being being any clue. It’s even cuter now that he’s a bit desperate to wash my hair for me. After getting everything though it doesn’t take too long to get to the springs, legend dragging me by the wrist was a bit of a surprise though, he must really want to do this. Another gentle shove and him turning his back when we got here is all I need to strip down and get into the water, splashing him to get his attention again.
“So how long have you been wanting to do this for then Leg?”
“Does that matter? Just relax before I give you the soap to use yourself.”
A simple laugh on my end and he just moves to lather up my hair and start washing it, being gentle, taking his time and just doing it so carefully. It’s not entirely what I’d assume he’d be like but it’s so nice I’m not sure I ever want it to end. But like everything it has to come to one, hot water being poured over my head as he tilts me back to get all the suds off.
“Couldn’t you have carried on a bit longer? Not even a few more minutes?”
“It was hard enough getting away, we can’t stay here forever.”
“I knooow.”
Dragging myself out was borderline painful, the air is simply so cold and I don’t even have a good way to dry myself off now, just a ratted towel hanging on by the barest of hopes. There isn’t an option to not immediately dry off and go back to the camp though, mournfully.
“Hey leg, I know I didn’t really say it before? But thanks for this, really thank you.”
“Don’t ah - don’t mention it.”

Princess Carriage
Tumblr media
Summary: You have a few too many drinks while out with Angela and Jessica, leaving Edward to be the one to take care of you while you sober up.
Pairings: Edward Cullen x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol/drinking
Word Count: 2.1k
A/N: Thank you so much for this request! I ended up getting caught up in some stuff irl which meant I couldn't finish the Twilight Appreciation Week event that I was hoping to keep doing, but I will take any excuse to write more for Twilight! And I am finding myself loving writing for Edward!! So I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it 🥰
~~~
Bass boomed around you, filling your chest with a dull thrum at every beat. The lights above you pulsated with different colors. Your arms felt sticky with a mix of sweat and whatever had spilled on the bar earlier in the night. The small glass pinched between your fingers held a pink liquid that you didn’t remember the name of, but it tasted like sweet berries and nothing like alcohol. That might have been why you had drunk three or four in the last hour without a second thought.
The sound of garbled speech hit your ears, and you turned in bewilderment to Jessica, standing beside you with a large grin. “What?!” You had to scream to be heard over the music.
“I said!” she started, grabbing your glass out of your hand. “I think you’ve had enough.”
A childish pout formed on your lips as you reached for the glass, but no matter how many times you thought you had grabbed it, you must have missed it by an inch. “Please! I paid for that!”
“Actually, a guy paid for it before getting shot down so hard I thought he might cry.”
“I’m taken, but that doesn’t mean I won’t accept a free drink.”
Jessica tried to stifle her giggle to remain stern but failed. “Okay, I’m just as guilty. But seriously.” She regained her disciplined facade as she put the drink back down on the bar and hooked her arm with yours. “I think it’s time to get some bad food and call it a night.”
You hadn’t realized how drunk you were until the mention of food made your stomach do a backflip, and you shook your head adamantly. “Maybe we just go home.”
“Yeah, I think that’s for the best. Let’s go get Ange and blow this place.”
You followed closely on Jessica’s very high heels, making sure to keep a hold of her. The staggering amount of people you had to walk through hadn’t fazed you before, but now that your head was spinning, it felt like walking through a fun house.
When you reached Angela, your head was swimming so much that you couldn’t concentrate on what your two friends were saying to each other. You only registered Angela’s relief at the prospect of leaving, and then you were all bee-lining it to the exit.
Once you got outside, the cool air quelled the nausea that started crawling up your throat. Angela and Jessica helped you into the passenger seat, and it was obvious to them how awful you were feeling. Jessica got in the back seat behind you and put her hands on your shoulders.
When Angela started the car, she quickly glanced in your direction. “Are you feeling alright?”
You silently shook your head, groaning a bit when the motion caused your nausea to come back. A rustling noise came from the backseat before Jessica handed you a plastic bag.
“Always prepared,” Angela quipped with a sheepish smile.
You leaned your head back against the headrest as the car started moving. “Thank god for that.”
Angela dropped Jessica off first, considering her house was the closest of the two. However, when she started turning around in the driveway, you realized that you shouldn’t go back to your house like this. You were sure that your house would be in an uproar if you arrived home close to being blackout drunk, and in the spur of the moment, you made an alternative decision.
“Ange,” you started, still hesitant about the choice. “Do you mind driving me to Edward’s place?”
She stopped mid-turn, raising an eyebrow at you. “Are you sure? I don’t know…”
“I don’t want to go home like this.” Seeing she was still not convinced, you added, “And I know he wouldn’t do anything. I’ll even call him to make sure it’s alright.”
She took some time to contemplate before she relented and nodded. You pulled out your phone and called Edward, already having him on your speed dial. It only rang once before he picked up.
“Is something wrong?” His voice seemed erratic, and you could only imagine what was running through his head. You had never once called him at this hour of the night.
“No,” you assured him, “I just wanted to know if it was alright if Ange drove me to your house. We were…out. I don’t want to go home.”
The silence signaled that he had the whole situation figured out. It wouldn’t be hard, considering your slurred speech. His lack of response started to create dread within you. Was he upset? How could he be upset with you for having fun?
“Do you need me to get anything for you? How are you feeling?” But he wasn’t upset. His voice was tender and soft as he asked.
You let out a small sigh of relief. “No, you don’t need to get anything. I’ll feel better when I see you. Ange is driving me there now.”
“I’ll meet you both at the end of the driveway and drive you the rest of the way.”
“That’s probably for the best.” You were about to hang up before you tacked on, “Thank you for this. I love you.”
He let out a light-hearted chuckle on the other end. “Anytime. I love you too.”
Your head felt airy when you hung up your phone, holding it to your chest with a dopey grin. The car started moving again, slowly inching towards the road.
Finally, Angela spoke up. “I’m taking it I can drive you over there?”
“Yeah, he’ll meet us at the end of the driveway. Oh, take a left here.”
Angela heeded your directions, and you couldn’t miss the smile on her face. “I’m glad you have him. You practically light up just by talking to him on the phone.”
You sheepishly put your hands up to obscure your face. You were sure you still looked like someone in an ad for a dating app with how wide your grin was. It wasn’t anything that could be helped, though. Edward always had that effect on you.
You continued to give directions (the best you could, considering how drunk you were), and after only a few wrong turns, you managed to pull up to the Cullens’ driveway, where Edward’s silver Volvo sat waiting for you like a carriage. He wasted no time coming to your door and helping you out into the cold night, thanking Angela profusely.
“Just make sure she’s sober enough for our brunch tomorrow, or Jessica will kill me,” Angela pleaded through her open window.
You gave her a weak thumbs up with the arm that wasn’t clutching Edward’s middle for dear life. With that, she seemed assured enough to drive back onto the road and into the night.
Lowering yourself into the Volvo, you looked at Edward with a smile, “You’re my knight in shining armor.”
“I would give that honor to Angela since she got you here safely, but I’ll settle for being your prince,” he answered cheekily. He kissed the tip of your nose as he leaned over to buckle your seatbelt.
You snorted and swatted him on the shoulder. “Don’t get too far ahead of yourself. You’re making me want to take back all the nice things I was going to say about you.”
“I could drive you home inste–”
“No! Nope, you’re absolutely the best anyone could ask for. Just get in here and drive so I can sleep.”
He laughed and got into the driver’s side of the car. The short ride back up to the Cullens’ house was long enough that you started to nod off, so when the car stopped, you didn’t even want to get up.
Edward opened the door for you, and he effortlessly scooped you into his arms when he saw your drowsiness. “You’re acting like a cranky child. You know that, right?”
“Mmm,” you muttered, hiding your face in the crook of his neck. “Don’t care.”
“I don’t even want to imagine your headache tomorrow morning.”
At this point, his amused words fell on mostly deaf ears as you fell deeper asleep in his arms. You didn’t even register how fast he had you into bed, with mere seconds passing before you were safely tucked away under the covers.
He was just about to leave to get you a glass of water when you clutched his shirt sleeve. “Don’t go.”
“I won’t be long. I promise.”
“You better,” you mumbled, reluctantly letting go. It was always interesting that he would let you hold him still, and he didn’t just break free from your grasp. He could do it easily enough no matter how hard you held on, but nevertheless, he would always stay until you let go.
Edward was only gone for the time it took you to blink, and he was back in the room, setting down the glass of water and a bottle of over-the-counter pain medication on the nightstand beside you. “I always keep my promises.”
“Yeah, just shut up and cuddle.” You pulled your arms out from under the comforter to make grabby hands at him. You were sure you looked ridiculous, but you couldn’t be bothered at that moment. Honestly, it was a miracle you were still awake and coherent.
He didn’t protest or say anything else, aside from laughing a bit, and crawled into the bed beside you. He made sure to lay above the comforter in the hopes that it would keep him from making you too cold throughout the night. You draped your arm over his middle and latched onto him before immediately falling asleep.
And he was right. Your headache the following day was truly awful. It had to have been the headache from hell because you could hear everything as soon as you woke up. And all that noise hurt worse than anything you’d felt in a long time.
He noticed as soon as you stirred in your sleep, noting the scrunched up expression on your face. “What’s wrong, love?”
“Headache,” you rasped out. You didn’t realize how dry your mouth was until you tried to talk. Before you could ask, Edward handed you the glass of water he had prepared the night before. The cool liquid soothed your throat instantly. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. And here, take some of these.” He gently laid two pills into your hand. “Those should help with the headache.”
You quickly took them, grimacing once they were down. “I don’t think I want to get out of bed at all.” You reached across him to set the glass back on the nightstand before deciding that you’d like to stay like that, so you laid across him lazily. “Everything hurts.”
“Too much alcohol will do that,” he teased, rubbing your temples with his cold fingers. The relief was instant, and he had a self-satisfied smirk on his face after your hum of approval. “You do remember that you have brunch with Angela and Jessica?”
You groaned and turned over onto your back, turning your face towards him. “I don’t want to go. Jessica’s the one that dragged me out last night.”
“I don’t think it’s fair to blame her for how drunk you got.”
You frowned but conceded, “No…it’s not. But I still don’t want to go.”
“Angela was adamant about me getting you to that brunch.” When he still hadn’t convinced you, he added, “I can drive you there.”
“In the Volvo?”
“Yes, in the Volvo.”
You playfully pretended to think about it. “Hmm…so you’re telling me I get to spend extra time with you and show up in an expensive car? I don’t know…”
“Come on,” he chuckled, picking you up as he escaped from the warm confines of the bed. You giggled as his cold hands held your waist, and he set you down in front of the dresser that had some of your clothes in it. “Get dressed, so I don’t have those two angry with me.”
You laughed even harder at that statement. “You’re afraid of Angela and Jessica? You?”
“Yes,” he answered with finality. “They’re intimidating.”
You both were now laughing before Edward finally calmed down enough to leave the room, allowing you to change. You opened a drawer of the dresser, your drawer, and picked out the outfit you wanted to wear for the day. Your whole body still felt like you’d gotten hit by a truck, but you couldn’t wipe the smile off your face. Even when you overdid it, Edward was always right there by your side. Through thick or thin, he was there. How had you gotten so lucky?
The honk of the Volvo’s honk snapped you out of your daze, and you looked out the window to see Edward leaning against the car. When he saw you through the window, he motioned towards the car as though it were a carriage. You rolled your eyes and made your way downstairs, endlessly happy. Edward truly was your prince, although getting you to admit it to him would take a bit more work.
Irreplaceable
Neteyam x Fem!Omatikaya!Reader
Tumblr media
based on this request
Warnings: angst, mild descriptions of injuries, fluff
Tumblr media
Your eyes flutter open, squinting against the harsh morning light as it flickers into the tent.
Out of habit, you turn over, arms outstretched, reaching for the warmth of your mate. When they come up empty, your brow pinches in confusion, bleary eyes scanning his unoccupied side of the bed.
You’re alone…again.
A rough sigh falls from your lips. Disappointment weighs heavily in your heart, chest tightening with the twinge of loneliness you’ve gotten used to over the last several weeks. Your legs swing off the side of the woven bed frame, a new determination powering your steps as you get ready for the day.
Your gaze flicks over the bustling center of Home Tree as you emerge from your tent, searching the crowd. You don’t stop looking, not until he’s found on one of the upper levels of the massive structure. His attention is firmly locked on the task at hand, as he circles a group of young warriors.
They’re practicing archery skills, the long line of men and women pulling their bow strings back, then releasing them rhythmically as Neteyam’s laser focus dissects every movement.
“Yawne (beloved)!” You call lightly, a soft smile pulling at your lips.
Despite the less than ideal state of your relationship, you’ll always be happy to see him. You can’t help the way your heart skips a beat at the simple mention of his name, the way your stomach flutters as you watch him help teach the clan.
His eyes cut to you for only a brief moment, hands falling to his hips in irritation as he corrects one of the warrior’s postures. You walk right up to him, fingertips brushing along his arm when he doesn’t stop to look at you.
“Ma ‘Teyam—”
“Not now, Y/N.” He says curtly, before walking away without so much as a glance.
You force down a thick swallow, embarrassment darkening your cheeks. You feel the glances, the judgement of the warriors as they watch him practically ignore you. Your stomach dips at his dismissal, but you press on, plastering another smile on your face as you follow his quick strides.
“I was just checking on you, Ma ‘Teyam. You did not say goodbye again.” Your voice quivers a bit with the effort of keeping it lighthearted despite the way his treatment splinters your heart.
“I am very busy.” His arms cross over his broad chest, tongue clicking disapprovingly at one of the warriors as they fumble their arrow.
He walks away from you again, correcting their stance with firm hands. All you can do is stare at his retreating back, heartache settling like heavy stones. Your gaze falls, a soft sigh falling from your lips.
You’re quick to make your exit, as it’s clear he doesn’t have time for you right now. He doesn’t have time for you at all, it seems as of late. Aside from waking up alone more often than not, he barely pays you any mind throughout the day either.
You know he has a lot on his plate. As the future Olo’eyktan, he has many duties around the clan. Especially as tensions—and his father’s expectations—only rise with each passing day. You try not to take it personally, try so hard to remember the version of Neteyam you fell in love with all those years ago.
But your loving, attentive, thoughtful Neteyam has been gone for weeks now. Replaced with this rigid, strict leader in training. He seems to have one goal as the sky people continue to threaten your home: protect The People at any cost.
Even if that means losing you.
Several hours later, you haven’t seen so much as a shadow of him. Dinner has long passed, the plate you made for him now ice cold. Only a sliver of the sun pokes from behind the moon, twilight bringing the world around you to life while you feel another part of yourself crumble.
You remain in the gathering area, stuck in place for many hours until he strides from the tree line, looking every bit as exhausted as you feel. His eyelids are heavy, face sunken with the effects of not caring for himself the way he should.
Within seconds you reach him. Your hands find his shoulders, palms soothing down his arms to slow his rushed pace. He stops, although begrudgingly, a rough sigh leaving his lips as his distracted gaze flicks toward yours.
“Sorry, baby girl. I’m headed straight to see my father.” His tone is dismissive, and he’s already trying to walk away, but you’re quick to block the path.
“Neteyam.” The way you say his name is firm, a pointed warning that he’s taking this too far. “At least sit and eat something. You are overworking yourself.”
“I can’t.” At this point, you aren’t sure if you’re imagining the moment his eyes soften, the tiniest hint of remorse darkening the usual bright yellow. “We have a big raid tomorrow, remember? There is much planning to do.”
One of his hands cradles the back of your head, guiding it forward to place a chaste kiss along your temple. You jerk back as his hold slips away, moisture blurring your vision. You’re left watching his retreating back once again.
Your jaw clenches, chest tightening with bitterness. Shaky fingers roughly clear the stream of tears coating your cheeks as you stomp toward the place you’d been sitting all night. Sitting and waiting for someone who clearly couldn’t care less.
You tremble with pent up anger and frustration as you grab the plate of food you’d stupidly kept for him, a quiet shout leaving your lips as you throw it into the embers of the evening’s fire. You practically run home, back to the tent you know will remain empty for many hours.
When morning comes, you're alone again, but this time, it’s expected. Jake and the rest of the warriors have been planning this raid for weeks. You were prepared for them to depart long before the sun broke free of the moon's shadow, in hopes of catching the humans off-guard.
You're awake for no more than a few minutes when Kiri comes barreling through the entrance of your tent. She's frantic, eyes wide with panic as they search for you. She runs to your side, fingers curling around your arms tightly.
“Y/N, we need to go.” She jerks you toward the door, causing your legs your stumble as you try keeping up with her rushed pace.
“Whoa, Kiri. Wait a second. What—”
“My dad called over comms. They need help. Now.” She doesn't stop, tugging you out into the main area of Home Tree.
Breath catches in your throat, heart rate doubling at her words. That's never happened before. There's never been a mission that wasn't successful, that didn't go off without a hitch. Fear licks down your spine, a tremble of unease wracking your entire body.
Now matter how difficult or perilous the mission, Neteyam has always come home to you. The mere whisper of danger, of something going wrong, has you reeling. Your mind races, thoughts of him in trouble, injured—or worse—cloud your judgement.
In an instant, you don't have a single care about your own safety, the need to aid him, to make sure he comes home, overwhelming. You jump into action beside Kiri, mounting your Ikran as she does hers, soaring into the sky without hesitation.
The second you arrive on the scene, it's clear the clan is outmatched, and outnumbered. You guide your Ikran upward, hovering over the action while Kiri dives right in. Your eyes rapidly flick over every Na'vi in sight, heart leaping in your chest when they land on Neteyam and his Ikran in the distance.
In a flash, you're weaving through the chaos, trying to reach him as quickly as possible. Breath lodges in your throat, stomach dipping with panic when you see a helicopter swing around the perimeter, humans with huge guns perched at the open doors.
And they’re pointed right at him.
“Neteyam!” Your voice is hoarse with anxiety as you yell his name as loudly as your lungs will allow, hands waving wildly.
His head instantly jerks to the side, brow furrowing in confusion and alarm when he sees you.
“Y/N? What the hell are you doing?” His heart is already slamming between his ribs at the mere sight of you among the bloodshed. “Get out of here!”
One of the only things that helps him focus during missions is the knowledge that you’re home safe. It pushes him, reminds him to act carefully. Knowing you’re protected within the layers of Home Tree keeps him sane, allows him to devote all his attention to defending the clan.
He isn't paying attention, hasn't noticed the weapon aimed in his direction. Your mind is moving too fast, thoughts too jumbled from blind panic to see any other option but to put yourself in the way. Without hesitation, you swoop down, forcing Neteyam to jolt to the side.
You block the onslaught of bullets as they rain down from the helicopter. White hot pain sears through your middle, one of your hands leaving your Ikran to cradle your side. Your fingers tremble as they pull back, crimson smeared over dark blue.
“Y/N!” Neteyam cries, eyes popping wide as he can do nothing but watch you sway before tumbling to the ground.
Your face scrunches with another intense wave of agony, stomach flipping as your Ikran calls out and nosedives from the sky. Darkness dots your vision, eyelids growing heavy. Nausea curls in your gut, heart slamming between your ribs harshly.
Neteyam races after you, but he’s a second too late, only catching up just after you crash into the unforgiving earth. He leaps from his Ikran instantly, clambering toward you hastily. He kneels next to your broken body as you lay in a heap on the dirt.
Panic cinches his heart, makes his breath stutter as he forces it from quivering lungs. Shaky hands grip your shoulders, turning your upper body gently to assess the damage.
“Nete…I-I think— ” A pained groan leaves your lips, moisture blurring your vision as you blink up at him.
“No, don’t talk, baby girl.” The words rush from his mouth in one quick exhale. His palms fan over you, as if unsure what to do.
Sharp pain radiates from your side, and suddenly, it’s just too much. Your breath slows, chest rising shallowly as your racing heart settles.
“I’m going to get you help. Okay, baby?” You don’t see the tears rolling down his face, don’t register the turmoil he couldn’t hide even if he wanted to.
When you don’t respond, his head jerks up, eyes widening at your unconscious state.
“No! Y/N? Ma muntxa (mate)?” His hands find your shoulders again, shaking you roughly. He feels the ground shift beneath him, resolve crumbling when you remain limp in his hold.
One of his arms slips under your knees, the other supporting your head as he lifts you from the ground. All thoughts of the mission are long gone as he mounts his Ikran, racing back to Home Tree.
Erratic sobs jostle your body in his tight hold as his chest trembles from the force of rising grief. He’s flying blind, tears clouding his vision as he counts on muscle memory to get him back safely.
The moment he touches down, he’s sprinting toward the Tsahik tent, silently praying to Eywa that it’s not too late.
Tumblr media
Neteyam’s head lurches to the side at the sound of quiet shuffling on the other side of the room.
His heart leaps in his chest, not fully believing the sight of your eyes fluttering open. He crosses the distance in a few long strides, kneeling beside the bed that’s been your home for the last three days.
He hasn’t left the Tsahik tent. Not to eat, to sleep, not even when his father tried demanding his help with another raid. He wouldn’t—couldn’t leave you. Not even for a second.
He’s had little else to do but mull over how he’s treated you the last several weeks. His chest hurts, stomach rolling each time he replays the times he ignored or dismissed you.
He’s tried, desperately tried, to remember the last thing you said to him. And he can’t. No matter how long he stares at the wall, willing his brain to recall the information, he just can’t. Each lapse in memory tears at his soul, rips another hole in his battered heart.
He’s gone through endless scenarios, imaging all the terrible ways his life would collapse without you in it. He’s beat himself up, called himself every name under the sun. But nothing will give him that time back. The time he wasted prioritizing everything but what actually matters.
A low groan falls from your dry lips, pain emanating from your ribs at the slightest movement. Your face tightens, and another piece of Neteyam’s heart breaks. His hands clasp yours tenderly, thumbs smoothing over your skin.
“Mawey (calm), sweetheart.” He coos, releasing his hold to swipe a stray braid from your forehead.
You blink rapidly, clearing days of built up moisture to see him clearly. Slowly, you come to, surroundings gradually focusing until you realize you’re in the Tsahik tent. At once, the events just before you passed out flash in your mind, making you wince once again.
“I’m sorry, baby girl.” Your gaze finds his, chest tightening at the sight of his red-rimmed eyes. He’s quick to swipe away the tears as they slip down his cheeks. “I’m so, so sorry.”
Your brow furrows with confusion, unsure why he’d be apologizing. If anyone is to blame for your condition, it’s you. You put yourself in harms way, and he had no control over that. Your mouth has barely part in protest before he shushes you, fingertips pressing into your lips gently.
“I’ve been a terrible mate, Y/N. But that stops now. Okay?” His voice is full of conviction, expression hard with determination. “I would give anything to take back those days I dismissed you. But I can’t, so I will spend every day moving forward making up for it.”
Warmth blooms in your chest, a wobbly smile splitting your face. Though you never would’ve chosen such drastic measures to make him aware of the way he’s been treating you, gratitude overrides your previous animosity at the words you’ve been aching to hear for weeks.
His lips caress the backs of your hands, planting sweet kisses against your skin before he stands suddenly.
“What do you need, sevin (pretty)? Are you hungry? Thirsty? I will get anything you want. I can even go—”
“Oh, Nete. I-I just need you…” The words are a mere whisper, your voice hoarse from lack of use.
“I’m right here, baby girl. But you need to eat. I bet you’re starving. Let me go get—” Your hands find his arm, latching on tightly to keep him from walking away.
“Please, don’t go, Nete. Lay with me?” Moisture blurs your vision instantly at the thought of him leaving you alone.
A soft breath falls from his lips, shoulders dropping in defeat. He doesn’t want to hurt you, but right now, he can’t deny you anything. Especially not with that wounded look on your face.
“Okay, okay. Don’t cry, honey.” He shushes you gently, lifting the blanket covering your body so he can nestle against your side.
He gingerly drapes one arm over your hips, the other snaking beneath your neck. You settle into the familiar embrace, tense muscles unwinding for the first time in weeks. A contented sigh leaves your lips, eyes fluttering closed as a wave of exhaustion washes over you.
“I will give you one hour, and then you’re eating something. Understood?” Neteyam gently pulls you closer, lips trailing against the column of your neck as he murmurs softly.
“Yes, sir.” You can’t help the giggle that bubbles in your chest as you send him a little mock salute.
He rumbles against you, pressing his face into your skin to hide the way his lips stretch into a grin at your teasing. You succumb to sleep quickly, at last finding peaceful rest within his protective hold.
Ellis Twilight Chapter 2
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I just deepl and google translated my way through this because I wanted to know what’s going on, so there are definitely mistakes but I believe I managed the general gist of the story. Anyway, it’s just a fan-made translation solely for entertainment purposes. Ikemen Villains belongs to Cybird.
Another note: I know Ikemen Villains is set in victorian London, but I will use the japanese suffixes because I prefer them.
Ellis: Here you go, Jude.
Jude: ... Ah?
Jude-san looked stunned for a moment when he sa Ellis-kun who had brought me with him.
Surprinsingly, he said nothing.
(... Or rather)
Kate: I will accompany you as a fairytale writer, thank you very much.
Jude: ... Tch.
He clicked his tongue at Ellis-kun, who seemed to realize that there was no point in saying anything, and completely ignored my presence.
Ellis: I delivered the offer to the procurement department last night, which is leaving today.
Jude: Of course. If it doesn't arrive first thing in the morning, I'll have to take a pay cut.
(I can't believe you're working for Crown and you're even working for the company. ... You're both so busy.)
I followed alongside Ellis-kun behind Jude-san, silently observing him as not to disturb him.
I found out through observation that ...
Jude-san runs Raven, a diversified trading company ...
... they were doing a wide range of business with branches abrod.
He had a business meeting in the VIP room of one of the best department stores in London, had a meeting with the inspector at the Port pf London ...
The time that follows the two of them around flies by in a flash.
And speaking of the two working together ...
Jude: No deals until this is settled.
Jude: You were dishonest, so you deserved it. If you don't want to get out of debt, then spit up blood and make up for it.
Jude-san has a sharp tongue and a sharp mind ...
It seemed that business partners looked up to him, business rivals envied him, and employees were in awe of him.
On the other hand ...
Ellis: Fine, I'll take care of the rest.
Ellis: I'll teach you what you don't know and we'll fix it together.
Soft-spoken and attentive, Ellis-kun was well-liked both inside and outside the company wherever he went.
(They're kind of brilliant opposites, aren't they?)
In the meantime, the short hand of the Big Ben was about to pass the apex.
Jude: I don't want the writer to follow me. I don't know what they'll say if I show up with extras.
Ellis: Mm-hmm. Okay.
Kate: Thank you for allowing me to accompany you.
Jude: I can't wait to see if I can say the same thing the next time we see each other.
(What does that mean ...?)
I tilt my head, not understanding what he means.
Jude: You brought him here, so you should clean yourself up. I can't touch you.
Ellis: Yeah ... that's the plan.
(... I guess Ellis-kun gets the message.)
Jude-san walks away without so much as a glance at me, and Ellis-kun turns to me.
Ellis: You're tired. I'm sorry I brought you around.
Kate: No, not at all! I am physically strong. I was trained as a mail carrier.
Ellis: I see. I'm glad. ... Then, let's go to the next one.
Ellis: Can you hang out with me just a little bit longer?
I was asked to go out with him a little longer, and here I am ...
(Why are we here ...!?)
It was the post office where I worked.
When I was hesitant because of the crowd, Ellis-kun turned around.
Ellis: What's wrong?
(That's as much as I'd ask ...)
Kate: It's my workplace, so I know a lot of people, but ... is it okay if I meet them more than a month in advance?
Ellis: Victor said there are no restrictions except for going out alone, so why not?
I blinked at the answer, which was more laid back than I expected.
(That's not what a person being monitored says, but ... is that okay??)
Ellis: I have some mail I want to send. I'll go take care of it.
Kate: Yes ...
Moreover, leaving me there, Ellis-kun heads for the counter.
(What if I ask someone for help or something and confidental information is leaked ...)
I can't hide my bewilderment at how carefree the 'surveillance' is.
(At least, I guess that means Ellis-kun trusts that I would never do such a thing.)
(Or rather ...)
(If information is leaked, at that point, everyone who knows about it, including me, will be dealt with ...)
... "Shall we kill her?"
When I remembered that he had made such a remark, without hesitation, I shook my head in a panic ...
Coworker with braids: Kate!?
Kate: Ah.
Coworker with braids: Kate! Hey guys, Kate's here!
At the sound of her voice, our coworkers notice and gather around me.
Coworker with red hair: Kate, how can you suddenly be serving in the palace?
Coworker with black eyes: We were all worried.
(I just suddenly stopped coming to the office, and they are so worried about me.)
(Even more, I can't tell them.)
(And that I don't know if I'll be able to come back safely in a month, ever.)
(But ...)
Not wanting to cause worry, I gulp down my anxiety.
Kate: I'll be fine. But it's only my first day, and I don't know what's right or wrong.
Kate: I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Coworker with braids: I'm sure that a person who has turned Sleigh and Kramer into good costumers will be fine no matter where they go.
Coworker with red hair: I'd miss you if you were suddenly gone.
Kate: I'm ... really sorry about that. It's something beyond my control.
Coworker with braids: Well, it's not every day you get an order from the Palace that you turn it down.
Coworker with blick eyes: But I'm rooting for you, Kate.
Coworker with red hair: Hey, take this!
Coworker with red hair: I bought it for all of us to give to you if you stopped by. I'm glad I was able to give it to you.
Kate: Oh ... so much?
My arms are piled with gifts of this and that.
Blanket, cookies from my favourite store, and a letter from the colleagues.
Kate: Thank you ...
I'm holding my happiness in my arms, but I can't move an inch because I'm afraid I'll drop something if I move ...
Ellis: I'll take it. Give it to me.
The baggage is snatched from next to me.
The eyes of my colleagues turned in unison to Ellis-kun.
Coworker with braids: Who ... is he? Kate's boyfriend?
Coworker with red hair: Oh, I know him! He's the kid who escorts the scary traders.
It was a complete beehive of activity.
Coworker with braids: Kate, please explain your relationship with this handsome man!
Kate: Ummm ... we know each other from our work at the palace, we just met yesterday.
Coworker with braids: Hmm ... that seems a bit close for my taste, though.
Coworker with red hair: I doubt that ...!
Kate: Hey, everybody, just calm down ...
As I'm placating my excited coworkers, Ellis-kun takes the rest of the luggage, all of it, out of my arms.
Ellis: I'm sorry for all the fuss. I'll wait for you outside.
Kate: Oh ... I'm sorry too! I'll be right there.
Ellis: Take your time.
I give a small bow to everyone and see Ellis-kun off to the outside.
(I'm sorry I put you on the spot ...)
Coworker with braids: Marriage before return, huh?
Coworker with red hair: Congratulations!
Kate: I'm telling you, it's not ...!
... The commotion eventually died down when the director's voice came from the back of the room, saying "That's enough of that".
After exchanging a few words with my colleagues, I went outside to find Ellis-kun waiting for me, leaning against a lamppost with his luggage.
(Even from a distance, it's quite a view.)
With his supple body and long arms and legs, he stands out in the city.
Kate: Sorry to keep you waiting.
Ellis: No, not at all. ... You could have talked to them more.
Kate: It's okay! Um, my colleagues made a terribly rude remark ...
Even though I only work with him, they may have made him feel uncomfortable by calling him my boyfriend.
(Something I wish I could apologize for ... Oh, yes.)
Kate: There is a good baguette restaurant near here. Let me treat you there as an apology.
Ellis: ...
His eyes, filled with light, stare at me as if they have found something.
Ellis: I think I understand a little better why you get so many gifts.
Kate: Eh ...?
Holding a large bag full of gifts from my colleagues, Ellis-kun stepped out to me and ...
... he brought his face so close to mine that our foreheads touched.
Ellis: No, you don't have to treat me, but I'm curious about the restaurants you recommend.
(... Ellis-kun, I don't understand what's talking about.)
But surely, his kindness had penetrated my heart.
As evidence, my second meal with Ellis-kun was much more pleasant than the breakfast.
Kate: Wow, it's late ...
When we left the restaurant, dusk was approaching.
Ellis: ... Let's go back to the castle.
Ellis-kun looked out at the cityscape as it was beginning to darken, absentmindedly.
It was the first time I had heard a slightly urgent voice, and I immediately realized that he was excited.
(I'm sorry to keep you up at this hour, but maybe he had plans for the evening.)
Kate: If we go down the alley this way, we can take a little shortcut.
With the knowledge I had acquired as a postwoman, I entered a narrow alley.
Ellis: Ah ...
Ellis: Well, I guess it'll be okay if we're together.
The sun is being blocked out, and the alleyway's growing dim.
It was almost time to get out into the lighted street.
Men in hunting capes: ...
Suddenly, a man appeared to block the way, and I tried to pass him by avoiding him on the side of the road.
(What ...?)
A man stepped forward, but his path was blocked.
Feeling something strange in the air, I turn around and see two men appear from behind me as well.
Man in hunting cape: Jude Jazza's woman?
(Jude-san?)
Kate: No, I'm sorry I'm not ... but who are you?
Man in hunting cape: We'll check the facts later. Catch her.
The three men suddenly took things out of their pockets and attacked.
(What ... eh!?)
Ellis: Kate-san, hold this for me for a moment.
Kate: Wah ...!
Confused, I accept the package containing the gifts from my colleagues.
Ellis-kun pulled out a black-bladed knife, which bounced off the blade of the man in front of the group.
Ellis: It might be a little scary, but it'll be over soon.
(...)
While I am speechless, he is knocking them down one by one, just as he said "It'll be over soon".
He pulled out his knife to counter the blade, and basically just his long arms and legs seemed to suffice.
Ellis: Good job.
The unconscious men were lined up tightly on the shoulder of the road ...
When Ellis-kun's hand touched the top of their heads like a finishing touch ...
... the wrists of the men, still unconscious, snapped together as if in prayer.
Kate: Oh my god ...! How did you do that?
Ellis: When I touch the head, I can detain the wrist like this.
(I just remembered ...)
... a 'cursed' person possesses abilities that ordinary people do not have.
In the back of my head, Roger-san's voice comes back to me.
Kate: Is that ... what Ellis-kun is capable of?
Ellis: Yes. That's right. It's so much easier not to need a rope at times like this.
Ellis-kun came over smiling as if he had finished his work.
He took the package from my arms again.
Ellis: Jude has a lot of enemies everywhere, so he often gets attacked like this.
Ellis: It was unusual for him to have a woman around, so I guess that gave them the wrong idea.
(Resentment ... I see.)
What I can understand is the result of observing the work during the day.
(It must be a tough job at a trading company to be attacked like this on a daily basis.)
Ellis: ... I'm sorry.
Kate: Ellis-kun has nothing to apologize for! Thank you for protecting me.
But Ellis-kun lowered his eyebrows and shook his head.
Ellis: Actually, I could have predicted this. This is what might happen if I took you out.
Ellis: But ... when you found out I was going to work today, you looked worried.
Ellis: I was selfish and got carried away. ... So, I'm sorry.
(Ellis-kun ...)
I know it sounds selfish, but I want you to know that everything you did today was for me ...
I already knew enough.
(The breakfast, the stories he told me about the members of Crown, the fact that he let me accompany him to work ...)
(Maybe, he even took me to the post office.)
Kate: I've been happy all day ... so there's nothing to apologize for.
I smile to tell Ellis-kun that I appreciate his kindness.
Ellis: ... Hm, good.
The smile on Ellis-kun's lips was as warm as the last light of the day ...
Perhaps it was because the approaching darkness made me feel impatient ... I felt a strange stirring in my chest.
When I return to my room, I open the package of gifts from my coworkers.
"Kate, I care about you."
"Please let me know when ..."
The kind words in the letter from my colleague touched my heart deeply.
(I'm glad Ellis-kun took me to the post office so that I could receive this.)
Ellis-kun tried to make me smile, so I feel very happy right now.
I stepped into a different world.
I can't go back to my daily life for a month ...
I was so frightened, and I felt like he was telling me "It's going to be okay."
(I'm feeling more confident than this morning that I can make it through the month.)
(Especially if Ellis-kun is with me.)
... And the next morning, with new determination.
Victor: I heard that Jude's business partner attacked you yesterday?
Kate: Oh, yes, but thanks to Ellis-kun, nothing happened.
Victor: It's a good thing, though ... before the contract expires ...
Victor: That means Crown's confidential information is at risk, too! Isn't that right?
Ellis: Yeah.
Jude: I have a bad feeling about this.
In response to his grumpy voice, Victor plastered a big smile on his face ...
Victor: Good, Jude, Ellis.
Victor: I want you two to be responsible to guard Kate!
(What!?)
Jude: Hah?
Ellis: ... Guard?
Hello worm. For your prompts, maybe Wind trying to show off to Wars how he’s just as much a hero as him despite his age? It can be fluffy or angsty, you decide. Also bonus points if Wind discovers Wars enlisted early and starts calling him a hypocrite
This was an amazing idea! I wish I could write more for it, but I hit a wall of fatigue (thanks flu shot and covid booster cries) so this is all I got. Maybe I'll come back to it!
(If you read this and would like to request a short snippet, see this post!)
Wind was sick of being treated like a kid. He didn't get as many watches as everyone else and never the second watch. They'd stopped early when he'd complained about the walk — even though Legend had been complaining for an hour. He was stuck with guarding civilians while the others battled the monsters. And now Warriors was getting his arm stitched up by Sky after taking a hit meant for Wind. He bided his time, however. Wind was mad but he wasn’t mean. He waited until Sky was finished with the stitches and bandaged Warriors’ arm. And then waited until they’d moved away from the battlefield and made camp. Warriors stood and stretched, then grabbed his waterskin, saying he was going to the nearby stream. Wind grabbed his own waterskin and followed. Warriors didn’t acknowledge his presence, but Wind knew better than to think he hadn’t been noticed. He wasn’t exactly trying to be sneaky, but he’d long since learned to not startle the captain, especially after a battle. When Wind kneeled down next to Warriors to fill his water skin, Warriors turned to look at him. “How are you doing, Sailor?” Wind pulled his waterskin out and slammed the lid back on. He rocked back on his heels before standing up. “How am I doing? I should be asking you that.” Warriors sighed and rubbed a hand over his forehead. He stood up and stepped away from the water before turning to face Wind. “I’m fine. The cut was small and Sky took care of it.” “You took a hit meant for me.” Warriors froze for a moment, and his eyes met Wind’s. Like this, their height difference seemed greater than normal. “It—” “I’m not a kid, captain! I can fight my own fights! You don’t need to get injured to protect me.” “Sail—Link. That sword was heading for your back while you were engaged with another enemy. It was coming from your left, so you wouldn’t have been able to block it with your shield. I took a calculated risk to save your life.” Wind opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He’d known the enemy was there, had sensed the attack. But he hadn’t realized how dire it almost was. As much as he wanted to believe that he could have escaped the attack, he trusted Warriors’ battle experience to know what he was doing. “Okay fine. What about not letting me take second watch? And me taking fewer watches than everyone else?” Warriors tried to respond, but Wind cut him off. “Or putting me on guard duty while everyone else fought the monsters in Twilight’s world a few weeks ago?” Wind could feel the heat in his cheeks as he ranted. “I am just as much of a hero as anyone else. And I’m sick of being treated otherwise!” Wind took a deep breath. He spoke his final words soft and cold as a steel knife. “And one last thing. I overheard something the other day. That you lied about your age to enlist early. You’re such a hypocrite.” Warriors sighed and his shoulders fell slightly. It was as if he’d aged years just in the past few moments. Wind didn’t feel bad about it in the slightest. Warriors gestured to a fallen log a bit further away from the river. “Sit with me?” Wind huffed, but stomped his way over to the log and sat as far away from Warriors as he comfortably could.
“Link, I know you’re a hero. You’re amazing. Maybe even the best of all of us.” Warriors looked up to the sky where, the stars were just starting to come out. Wind scoffed. Fancy words with no substance behind them. “I’m serious!” Warriors said. “You’re the youngest of us, but your skill in battle rivals even the best fighters among us. You defeated Ganon and saved your world—” “Before you even joined the army,” Wind muttered and crossed his arms. “Exactly.” Warriors rubbed a hand over his eyes. “But that’s exactly why you should get to be a kid sometimes.” That made Wind pause. Warriors took the chance to carry on. “We all grew up too fast. Nearly all of us began our journeys before we reached adulthood. Some of us never stopped once we started, or at least not for many years.” Warriors expression was grim. It reminded Wind of the old man. “If I can give you — and all the younger heroes, for that matter — a chance to be a kid sometimes, I will take that chance. Over and over again.”
For a valentines fic can I pls request Eddie being your first real valentine ☺️ thank you!
🧺🍓🎈 PICNIC • EDDIE MUNSON
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“sweetheart? are you awake?” eddie gently knocks on your bedroom door. the smell of bacon hint your senses before you opened your eyes. you heard eddie put a table down on the night stand and get into the bed with you.
“i know you’re awake because i can see you trying to hind that precious smile from me.” eddie came from behind you and whispered, “if you don’t get your sleepy butt up, i will eat all these delicious cinnamon rolls by myself.”
“I’M UP! you are so not going to finish the icing without me this time!” eddie chuckled with how easy it was to get through you.
once you and him were situated, you began digging into the lovely breakfast eddie put together. you were so excited for the cinnamon rolls, that you forgot what today was.
eddie just sat there like a kicked puppy while you melting into the sweet taste of icing, “no ‘happy valentine’s day baby?’ or ‘thank you for being the most amazing boyfriend ever?’”
you looked over with wide eyes and saw eddie was genuinely shocked that you forgot.
“oh, eds, how could i forget! c’mere sweet thing,” you gave him a big kiss with icing on your lips just to make him laugh, “happy valentine’s day. thank you for being my forever.”
he smiled, “hmm, much better. so! i hope you have your day completely open because we have plans! once you finish your 5 star breakfast, i want you to get pretty because we have a picnic to attend to later this afternoon!”
“oooo, where is this taking place?”
“now if i tell you, it would ruin the surprise, sweetheart,” he kissed you one more time then let you finish eating.
‧˚₊•┈┈┈୨୧┈┈┈•‧₊˚
a couple hours have passed and you’re currently sitting in front of your mirror adding the final touches to your hair. eddie still had not told you where you two were going.
you had butterflies in your tummy the entire time you were getting ready. it was the first time anyone had gone out of their way to show you real love during valentine’s day. eddie is the first relationship where you feel unconditionally loved. there was never a moment where you questioned if he loved you and if you did, eddie was always there to reassure.
he will always go above and beyond to show you how much you matter to him. you remember one day you were feeling a bit insecure and your mind kept telling you ‘eddie could do so much better than you.’
when you finally told him how you were feeling, he stood on top of the table at the diner and yelled, “i am so fucking in love with y/n and no one will ever change that!”
yeah, i guess you could say you got lucky with eddie munson. he is one of a kind.
“sweetheart! are you ready!?” eddie called from downstairs since he was ready a long time ago. you wanted to make sure you looked perfect, so you tried taking your time in getting ready.
you checked yourself in your mirror one last time and dashed out the door.
‧˚₊•┈┈┈୨୧┈┈┈•‧₊˚
the drive to the “unknown” location was very familiar. i mean it is hawkins, so there’s only some many places you and eddie could go to.
the two of you sat in comfortable silence while eddie’s music softly played in the background. his hand was holding yours and sometimes his thumb would move against your skin.
“are you excited?”
“you know i am. although, i would love to know where we’re going but i guess a surprise every once in a while is needed.”
eventually, eddie drove into a small parking lot that led to lovers lake. it suddenly clicked where you two were going.
there was an area off the path that was in the middle of some trees. the sun shined just right during the day. you and eddie would always hang out there before dating. it was the perfect place to escape the horrible residents of hawkins.
during spring, flowers would bloom all around there. sometimes, you felt like you were bella in twilight and eddie was the handsome vampire trying to convince you to stay human.
suddenly, eddie stopped in his tracks and turned to you, “can you close your eyes for me? i will hold your hand to make sure you don’t trip.”
trusting him, you interlock your fingers with is and closed your eyes. it was obvious that eddie put a lot of effort into this picnic.
“just one more step… and, open!”
you were met with a white sheet with a box of pizza, lotr books, flowers, and chocolate strawberries sitting on top. eddie also brought a jug of welch’s grape juice (your favorite) in his jacket.
as simple as it was, the fact this was eddie’s idea made your heart sore! you also loved the fact that all your favorite things were here.
“oh, eddie, this is perfect! this is exactly how i pictured it!” you wrapped yourself around his waist and thanked him a hundred times.
“no need to thank me, sweetheart. you deserve everything and more! now, shall we?”
eddie extended his arm out and slightly bowed. you giggled and went to go sit on the soft sheet.
you were about to question when he set it all up until you heard steve from afar, “have fun love birds!”
“i see you had help.”
“in exchange for a beer,” eddie groaned.
‧˚₊•┈┈┈୨୧┈┈┈•‧₊˚
“moonlight drowns out all but the brightest stars,” eddie read as he laid on your stomach.
the pizza was long gone and so were the strawberries. you two laughed and talked about your future until you wanted eddie to read to you.
the sky that was once a bright blue was now pink and orange. of course, you’d have to go home but you just wanted to lay with eddie here— playing with his curls while he reads lord of the rings for the hundredth time.
if only the town saw how easy it is to love eddie munson. for them to see the person they’re missing out on. you were grateful everyday to be loved by him.
Whumptober Day 19: Psychological + “I’m not as stupid as you think I am”
Read on Ao3
- Sky
- Summary: The Shadow pulls a dirty trick to gain an advantage over Sky
CW for blood and injury
————————————
Sky’s hands are shaking.
It has been a long time since they have trembled while wrapped around the hilt of a blade. He could never afford for them too. Shaking hands means clumsiness, hesitation and fear made obvious to the enemy. In a fight against Ghirahim or Demise such weakness had spelled death. And besides, with the anger raging through him and the sorrow and terror hounding at his every step, he had found a strength he hadn’t even known was within him. A strength to keep going even when exhaustion dragged at him and every part of him ached. A strength to remain brave no matter the consequences.
That bravery has not left him now, nor the strength. But it is hidden regardless, hidden deep within. In the last few seconds it has fled to the recesses of his heart.
Because in the last few seconds his opponent has transformed. He had been fighting the Shadow, trading blows at a speed even he had had a bit of trouble keeping up with. Now, Zelda stands in the Shadow’s place, with the blade of Master Sword pressed against her neck.
Sky inhales sharply. Air filters through his nostrils, but still he feels like he is suffocating.
“Zelda?”
She smiles, sweet and familiar, like a dagger to his heart.
“Hey, sleepyhead.”
Sky fights not to take a stumbling step back, fights against the urge to lower his weapon and his defenses alongside it. Everything within him screams that this is real, that the being standing before him is the woman he loves. And she certainly looks the part. Those big blue eyes look the same as the ones he loses himself in so often, the golden hair the same as the strands he weaves into little braids on lazy mornings. The way her nose crinkles slightly when she smiles, the tilt of her head, the way she holds herself, even — he realizes as she moves closer, heedless of the blade still against her neck — her scent…is all so very much like Zelda.
His Zelda.
She takes another step, eyes never leaving his. Sky swallows hard.
He wants to look around for the others. He can hear them still fighting somewhere behind him though, close enough for the sounds of struggle to be audible, too far to notice something is amiss and come to his aid.
He resists the urge to sigh. He should never have let himself become lost in the fight and lead away from his brothers. He knows better than that, he knows…
But he had dared hope that this could be it, the end of the Shadow. He had dared think that he could save those he loves.
Yet, now here he stands, facing the Shadow but staring at Zelda.
Sky closes his eyes for a long moment, reveling in the feel of cool darkness that alleviates some of the pressure behind them. The Shadow won’t attack him, not like this. He fears the blade too much.
…that’s right. The Shadow. The monster who stalks them in the dark and nearly stole Twilight’s life. The monster bent on killing nine heroes merely because they hold the sacred title.
The Shadow. A demon. Not his goddess.
He opens his eyes.
Zelda – no not Zelda, the Shadow – raises her eyebrows. “What’s wrong, sleepyhead? Surely, you believe that it’s truly me.”
“No, I don’t.” His voice is far more level than he expected it to be and it possesses a dangerous edge too. “You’re not her.”
Her lips curve upward. Something dangerous glints behind her eyes, a bit of crimson in a sea of blue.
“Well, then, I suppose you won’t have any problem killing me.”
Sky grits his teeth. One movement is all it will take, one swift swing of the blade. And with the anger roiling within him it should be an easy task.
Yet, still he can’t bring himself to do it.
The Shadow smirks. “No? I thought not. Few would be willing to slaughter someone with the appearance of a loved one.”
That glint returns. Alarm bells blare in the back of Sky’s mind, but they seem impossibly far away. It is dangerously easy to ignore them.
“Luckily, however, I have no such qualms.”
The monster moves quickly, little more than a flash of darkness in the waning sunlight, a stretch of shadows upon the ground. And in the next moment Sky chokes on a gasp as a blade embeds itself in his abdomen. His trembling hands finally give up. The Master Sword slips to the ground.
He follows suit mere seconds later, collapsing in a heap of limp limbs. Pain grips his abdomen and spreads outward, following the trail of his scars. Sky claws blindly at the hilt of the weapon still lodged in him. He wraps wet, blood drenched fingers around it and readies himself to pull it out. But a pair of soft hands enclose his own before he can.
He blinks away the gray and white static crackling before him and stares up into those cursed blue irises.
“You heroes are truly pathetic.”
Though his form is the same, the Shadow no longer sounds like Zelda. His voice is entirely his own now. And as Sky watches darkness begins to replace light, the offending disguise melting into the familiar being he has faced far too many times.
“You were so close to winning and yet you hesitated because you couldn’t kill her. For a seasoned warrior you certainly are soft. Foolish as well. You knew that the person before you was not your loved one. But it made no difference.”
The Master Sword lies a short ways away. Carefully, Sky reaches out for it. The hilt warms slightly at his touch.
“You’d be surprised,” he grits out past the pain and the blood. “I’m not nearly as soft and stupid as you think.”
He brings the sword up and plunges it into the Shadow’s neck.
It’s easy now, even with his arms already starting to feel leaden and his mind fuzzy. It’s easy now that the mask that had paralyzed him is gone.
The monster lets out an unholy screech and disappears in a cloud of black. Sky lets his arm fall limply back to the ground.
He isn’t even going to try and fool himself into thinking that the Shadow is gone for good. The Master Sword is powerful, but their enemy is cunning. Who knows what tricks he has up his sleeve that allow him to escape an early death?
But Sky can’t bring himself to care right now. It’s a bit difficult to think of anything with a sword still sticking out of him. His tunic has begun to feel terribly damp and he doesn’t have to look down to know why.
He blinks, hard, fighting against the oncoming haze. It’s a losing battle however. Everything hurts and the darkness seems far preferable to the harshness of his current surroundings. Plus, he is utterly exhausted. Maybe just a little nap wouldn’t hurt…
“Sky!”
The call reaches him past the ringing in his ears. Sky drags open eyes he hadn’t even registered closing.
“Rulie?”
The traveler comes into his line of vision, worry in his eyes and determination in his stance.
“Yeah, it’s me. Don’t worry. Just hold on, okay? I’m gonna heal you.”
Sky hums softly. Already, he is drifting away.
ooting with the forgers! [1/5]
“Yor Forger at the Island of Mainau” / “Briar Rose”
• entry:
June 23, xxxx
It was a wonderful day to take the forgers out for a week long holiday. Handler approved of my request and i— no, i shouldn’t be talking about work.
For the first day, i took the liberty to take them on a short car ride, about 3-5 minutes if there are no traffics of the sort.
Anya seemed a bit bored, of course that’s a given—since young girls like Anya prefer a bit of a thrill or something she can play with. Though Yor was incredibly helpful—as always—she took Anya’s hand and showed her the different kinds of flowers the island has to offer, and told her the wonderful meanings behind them.
Yor looked—too—beautiful and ethereal whilst she was doing so, that…by no means am i a religious man. But, jesus. fucking. christ. My wife is so beautiful, caring and sweet that my fingers moved on their own.
“Breakfast with the Forgers” [2/5]
• entry:
June 24, xxxx
Yesterday’s trip to the island of mainau was very lovely. Oh! And Loid gave me a beautiful small bouquet of my favorite roses! they smelled wonderful..
We tucked Anya in since she was so exhausted from yesterday’s trip. Loid told me we could let loose for once and since there’s wine, we shared one glass—and one glass only!—i wouldn’t want to get drunk on our first outing together like this! i wish to cherish them, even the smallest of things, whether they’re mundane or not.
I woke up next to Loid, hehe. He’s so warm, i could still feel his warmth. Though, he won’t let me go until i told him that it was time for breakfast. Loid could really be adorable sometimes…
Breakfast was amazing, and it is even more delicious now that i have a family that i love sharing it with me <3
“Beach Day” [3/5]
• entry:
June 25, xxxx
So far, my stomach is safe, despite the chef from yesterday’s breakfast told us he had “accidentally” switched our jam with a bowl of raw egg mixture and at dinner, where the waiter “accidentally” gave us an uncooked fish—and no, it wasn’t sashimi, which i would’ve turned down just in case—this was undoubtedly an enemy of the forgers, no mistaking it. If it were the enemy of the thorn princess or twilight, they would’ve at least used poison or the sort. A rival from eden academy, perhaps? Were they stalking us?
Nevermind, i wrote and promised my family—and myself— that i wouldn’t talk about work during our time here.
There were lots of people—men, women and everyone in between—casting their—filthy—eyes at Yor. Thankfully none of them had the guts or balls to even approach her or engage in a conversation.
Yor seemed to notice my discomfort and took my hands and rubbed them gently between hers, comforting me with her gentle touch and whispering sweet words to ease my worry.
She’s everything to me. I’m very lucky to have her as my love and my wife.
“Anya and Bond’s ooting!” [4/5]
• entry:
June 26, xxxx
Anya is very happy today! Why?? Because Anya gets to play with Bond with the other kids here! They have a doggy park! Anya hears Becky does this die-uh-rih and brings this book with her—Anya only has a piece of paper but it’s ok!
Mama and Papa are shacking up right now or kissing so Anya needs to make this top-secret-do not touch or read- letter quick!
Anya has showed off my pre-tih ootfit that mama got me (Anya hears she got it after a bam! bam! assasin miss-yen last week! Very exciting!! That means Anya is wearing her very assasin-ny ootfit!)
Fhank You Mama and Papa,
Anya loves you! (Anya bets that Anya loves you more than you do, heh.)
“Forger Family Picture” [5/5]
• entry:
June 27, xxxx
The last day felt incredibly short compared to the previous days of our short holiday. Though, even short, i’m glad Anya, Yor and Bond had fun. They deserve the break, and i do believe that i, Loid Forger needs this outing as much as they did.
Here’s hoping to more outings like this. Hopefully, with a new member of our family joining our eventful outing.
Thank you for giving me this wonderful family.
Sincerely, Loid Forger.
Characters that made me realize I was trans
You ever just wanna make a comprehensive list of everyone that gave you gender envy from a young age? Yeah me too.
So here it is! A list of every character that made me realize I was trans, starting from when I was a little kid!
No. 1 - Aravis from The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis
Tumblr media
Okay, weird racism in this book aside, the amount I loved Aravis was probably the first indicator that I was not cisgender. I thought she was so cool for dressing up as a boy and rejecting traditional femininity and being so "not-like-other-girls" (i also had a big not-like-other-girls phase around the time I read this, go figure). Of course, she is cisgender, and seems to fall into a *slightly* more traditional role by the end of the book, but this isn't about C.S. Lewis' gender stuff and more on the fact that I related very heavily to Aravis and the fact that she didn't fit in with other girls, because I also felt the same way.
Her male co-star Shasta also gave me gender envy so between them both it's no wonder 9-year-old me loved this book.
No. 2 - Deryn/Dylan Sharp from Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
Tumblr media
Once again it's the girl-dressing-up-as-a-boy-to-fuck-with-gender-rules trope! Only this time, Deryn Sharp is actually treated like a man by her male co-star, Alek (up until he figures out that Dylan is actually Deryn, but then he's quite supportive of her gender fuckery). Deryn, like Aravis, doesn't actually feel any gender dysphoria. Her gender fuckery is a means to pursue her passion for air travel via joining the army. This does get fucked up by the last book and she ends up needing to leave the army, but we don't actually see how she presents herself when in non-millitary society so I will headcannon that she remains quite butch.
I thought Deryn was the coolest when I was 13, and even wound up copying her way of saying "barking spiders" for a bit. And her and Alek's romantic relationship was peak goals for me, probably because it begins while Deryn still presents masc.
No. 3/4 - Link, from TLOZ: Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, the Links! Let's talk about the Links!
Twilight was the first male character I remember projecting myself onto. So much so that I did not ship him and midna OR him and Illia (and didn't really like illia's quest), not because they didn't have chemistry but because I am very homosexual and did not like the idea of my self-insert being with a girl. Now, do cis girls project themselves onto male character? Idk but I'm not cis and this is something I did so *shrug*
I've lumped these two together because Zelda was a sort of twofer for me. I played Twilight Princess and then a couple years later played BOTW and began discovering what transgender people were. At the time I ID'd as nonbinary, and my Zelda obsession grew with my understanding of "shit I'm not cis." (I even named myself after a Zelda character for a bit). The links were my first *conscious* experience of gender envy, and hold a special place in my heart for it.
No. 5 - Aether from Genshin Impact
Tumblr media
Last, but CERTAINLY not least, is the man, the myth, the legend, Aether Genshin Impact. And there is a STORY behind this guy's inclusion.
See, by the time I started playing genshin, I had long since accepted that I was not a girl. I called myself nonbinary, and thought I was okay with simply "not being a girl" and was fine doing what I saw all the other nonbinary people doing (binders, no testosterone, vaugely masc clothes, etc).
Then I booted up genshin impact, and had to pick between Aether and Lumine. And I still remember the "oh shit" moment I had when I realized that the default I expected to fall into would not make me happy. I had expected myself to pick Lumine, because I had previously thought that I was more comfortable with femininity than masculinity. I realized that I didn't just want "genderless." I wanted masculine. And I had this guy to thank for helping me come to that realization.
Anyways that's not all the characters that gave me gender envy or really even my entire "here's how I knew I was trans" but they are the most influential ones to me.
First piece of writing I post in several weeks and it’s from a silly au I only just thought up three days ago. what is life.
Anyways Incredibles AU airplane scene go!
————————————————————
Time had been awake for several hours before anything happened.
He was suspended a few feet off the floor by some sort of energy field-contraption, arms outstretched and held tightly in place. His whole body ached from whatever sedative had been pumped into him when he’d been caught, (and he was still cursing himself for being caught—) and none of his powers looked like they’d be enough to get him out either.
So he waited.
He was beyond stiff by the time the door finally opened, Dark Link striding in with Sheik following a little ways behind. He walked right up to where Time was held, then gave him a huge grin.
“You, sir....truly are the Fierce Deity!” he said with a laugh, sounding thrilled. “You know, I was right to idolize you. I always knew you were tough, but tricking the probe by hiding under the bones of another super?”
Time lowered his head at the reminder of finding the bones of Darmani. I hope you’re resting easy brother.
Dark Link shook his head in disbelief, pacing slowly around in front of Time. “Incredible! I’m still reeling.” He grinned. “You really are something.”
Then he let out a rather theatrical sigh, pausing in his steps.
Time stiffened.
“And then you just had to ruin it all,” Dark Link said mournfully. “I mean really? The great and powerful Fierce Deity calling for help?”
He scoffed, and Time blinked at him in confusion.
What?
“Stuck in my lair and what do you do? Boo hoo, help me help me, I’m completely helpless,” Dark Link said in a mocking voice, then whipped around and jabbed a finger towards Time’s face. “Who did you contact.”
Time stared at him, feeling nothing but confusion.
“What are you talking about?” he muttered, and Dark Link’s eyes narrowed.
He tapped something on the band around his wrist, and Time was suddenly filled with a shooting stabbing agony, electricity coursing through his entire body.
It only lasted a few seconds but he couldn’t help the cry it tore out of him, gasping heavily once it was done.
Dark Link clasped his arms behind his back, cape rippling as he moved. “I am referring to last night at 23:07 hours while you were snooping around. You sent out a homing signal,” he snapped, and Time raised his head to look at him.
“I didn’t know... about any homing device,” he bit out, then screamed as another jolt went through him, this one lasting several seconds longer.
Dark Link clenched his fists as he continued to electrocute Time, ignoring his cries. “And now a government plane is requesting permission to land here! Who did you contact?” he shouted, and finally took his finger off his wrist.
Time spasmed with leftover electricity, and barely managed to drag in a gasping breath.
“I didn’t s-send... for any... one...” he said weakly, and Dark Link whipped around towards Sheik.
“Play the transmission,” he growled, and after a moment’s preparation Sheik pressed a button on the control panel.
And a voice Time would know absolutely anywhere filtered through the line.
“Hyrule Flyer Niner-Niner checking in. VFR on top...“
“Malon...!” he gasped, and Dark Link grinned.
“So you do know these people!” he said cheerfully, and Time felt his heart fall straight into his stomach. “Well in that case, I think I’ll send them a little greeting.”
The Shadow met his eyes, the smile never leaving his face.
“It’s only polite you know.”
(...)
Malon ran a hand through her hair, letting out an uneasy sigh.
Her thoughts were racing, and only getting worse the closer the plane got to the tracking beacon in Time’s armor. It was a good thing flying a plane kept one’s attention fairly well, or she probably would have driven herself nuts by now questioning what exactly her husband had gotten himself into.
A hand settled over hers and she looked over at the other person with her, Twilight giving her a gentle smile.
Bless her son. He’d insisted on coming along when he’d caught her suiting up, asking her increasingly worried questions until she’d broken down and told him about everything that had happened. She’d wanted him to stay and help handle things at home, but he’d insisted, refusing to let her go alone.
He didn’t even know anything about flying, but he helped where he could, and learned pretty fast considering he’d never stepped foot in a plane before.
Despite the danger, Malon was immensely grateful to have him.
“Hey,” Twilight said, interrupting her thoughts, “it’ll be all right, we’ll find him. No matter what ridiculous mess he’s gotten himself into.”
He squeezed her hand and she nodded, managing to scrounge up a smile for him. “Thank you hun. Would you mind setting my bag in the back? I’d bet you could use a stretch and I can handle things for a little while.”
Twilight nodded and stood up, taking her suggestion and stretching as he grabbed her bag and made his way to the passenger area.
A few moments later she heard a loud “ow!”
“Legend?!”
Malon snapped her head up, quickly setting the plane to autopilot before marching into the other room. And sure enough, Legend sat on one of the seats, holding her bag and rubbing his head as Twilight blinked at him in disbelief.
“Link Legend Forester!” she said as he set her bag down, “What on earth—“
“It’s not my fault!” he immediately defended, raising both hands up in surrender, “Wind was the one who wanted to—“
Wind suddenly poked his head up from a row back. “That’s not true! You were the one who said—“
“I did not!”
“Wind?!” Malon gasped at the same time as Twilight did.
Legend and Wind continued to talk over each other, completely ignoring her and Twilight.
“—follow you and came on the plane so I came here and you closed the doors before I could find him and then you took off and it’s not my fault—“
“—"Something’s up with Mom. We have to find out what!" That’s what you said! And it was all your idea! Yours! Hundred percent all-yours, all-the-time idea!" Wind yelled, and Twilight let out a piercing whistle.
The two stopped shouting and looked at him, shrinking under his gaze.
“And how many more of you are here?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, and the two stowaways gave each other a look.
“No one.”
“Just us.”
“Nobody at all,” Wind repeated, right as Wild wandered in from the back, slurping a juice box.
“Oh. We done with the stowaway thing?” the champion asked as he looked at them all, and Legend groaned and slapped his forehead.
“Well we are now!”
Malon pressed a hand to her face, taking a deep, even breath. “Is there anyone else?”
The cabin was silent for several long moments, then Hyrule slowly walked out from the back row, awkwardly shuffling his feet.
She scanned her boys, giving them all the evil eye before placing a hand on her hip as she shook her head. She loved them all, she really did, but sometimes they just did not listen.
“At least tell me Four isn’t here,” she sighed.
A cacophony of voices immediately leapt to reassure her, spouting all about how he’d been working on a project so they’d left him a note and leftovers and yes mom we were being responsible and didn’t just leave him all alone we asked Groose to come by in the afternoon—
“You let Groose in our house?” Twilight interrupted, and Wild crossed his arms.
“Sun can vouch for him, he’ll be fine! He doesn’t even have to barely do anything anyways, Four’s responsible! He can handle it.”
“Right, like he handled helping with Wind’s science project?” Legend muttered, and Wind shrugged.
“How was he supposed to know I’m allergic to shellfish?”
“BOYS!”
Everybody winced and looked apologetically at Malon, who gave them all a firm look. “Warriors isn’t around here somewhere is he?” she asked with a raised eyebrow, and Hyrule shook his head.
“No, we couldn’t get ahold of him,” he said, and Malon knew Hyrule at least wouldn’t lie to her. “Otherwise we would’ve had him stay with Four.”
“Of course, if Four had realized what we were doing he totally would’ve come,” Wind interjected, and several glares were shot his way.
“Anyways,” Malon continued, “While I would’ve preferred you to have gotten someone else to check in on Four—“ literally anyone else, she thought with a hint of exasperation, “—I’m glad he isn’t alone. Now as for you all—“
An alert blared from the cockpit, and she frowned, turning back into the area and looking at the dashboard.
Her eyes immediately widened at the sight on the radar in front of her, and she stared out the window, praying she was wrong. But sure enough two lights were streaking towards the plane, and she felt her stomach sink.
Missiles. Heading directly at them.
She practically flung herself into the pilot’s chair, snapping the plane off of autopilot and began to prepare for evasive maneuvers.
“Hold on!” she yelled behind her, and Twilight almost immediately joined her side.
“What the— missiles?!” he gaped, “we didn’t even do anything!”
Malon didn’t reply, instead clicking on the radio. “Hyrule Flyer Niner-Niner transmitting in the blind guard. Disengage! Repeat, disengage!” she shouted through her headset, but there was no response.
She pulled the plane into a sharp swerve, her sons yelling in the back as she sent the two missiles crashing into each other. But as soon as those were gone four more appeared, from slightly different directions.
She gritted her teeth as she plunged into a steep dive and attempted to contact the island again.
 (...)
“Disengage! Repeat, disengage! Friendlies!”
Time’s heart sped up the more he heard of his wife’s voice, every bit of her hidden panic only doubling his own. He had a perfect view of the radar screen, several flashing dots rapidly chasing after a big one that kept swerving in dizzying evasive maneuvers.
And all Dark Link did was stand there, looking faintly amused by the whole thing.
“Call them off,” Time finally choked out, “call them off Dark I’ll do anything—“
The Shadow finally glanced over, crossing the room and giving a sad shake of his head as he approached his prisoner.
“Too late!” he said with a shrug, meeting Time’s panicked gaze. “...literal years too late.”
 (...)
“Friendlies at two-zero miles south-southwest of your position. Angels 10. Track east. Disengage!” Malon shouted through the radio as she pulled back up, sending at least one projectile into the ocean below her.
Twilight was doing all he could to help, and Malon was hardly a bad pilot but unless a miracle occurred they weren’t getting out of this.
Legend seemed to come to the same realization, and he whipped his head towards his brother. “Hyrule!” Legend said suddenly, the brunette in question trying not to fall over, “You have to use your Shield around the plane!”
Hyrule looked at him, a thin spark of panic in his eyes as he looked down at his hands. “But— but mom said we weren’t supposed to use our powers!” he said, Legend steadying his arm when the plane dove to the side.
Malon bit her lip as she heard them talk, dragging the plane back again. “I know what I said, but listen to what I’m saying now, you need to do your shield,” Malon urged him, but Hyrule looked frozen.
She pulled the plane into a quick roll, sending her passengers all yelling as they were flung around. “Disengage. Repeat, disengage!” she repeated through the radio despite knowing it wouldn’t make an ounce of a difference.
A missile nearly clipped them and someone yelped.
“Mom?” Wind said in a voice full of barely-held-back panic, looking out the window where he could see several missiles flying towards them.
“Hyrule! Shield!”
Hyrule bit his lip and tried to form his shield, hands shaking as a faint reddish glimmer appeared around them. It kept growing to about the size of his head before sputtering out, and he only looked more frantic the longer he tried.
Malon bit her lip so hard she drew blood and yelled into the radio again, desperation coloring her voice. “Mayday, mayday! Hyrule Flyer niner-niner is buddy-spiked! Abort! Abort! There are children aboard—“
(...)
 “—say again, there are children aboard—!”
“NO!” Time roared, and Dark Link barely spared him a glance.
“Sir?” Sheik asked, hesitation in her voice.
Dark Link waved her on to continue.
 (...)
“Hyrule! Put a shield around us!” Wind yelped as they abruptly lurched downwards.
“I’ve never done one this big!” Hyrule stuttered, hands shaking more the longer he tried, and Wild grabbed his arm as well, trying to steady him so he could work.
“Hyrule please honey, do it now!” Malon begged as she turned back to the radio. “Abort, please abort, abort—“
“I— I can’t I’m sorry—“
“Abort ABORT!”
Twilight abruptly grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the controls and then rammed the door of the plane open. He shoved his brothers out before grabbing Malon’s hand and jumping himself.
About a second later the plane exploded behind them.
The force of it hit her and Malon momentarily blacked out, Twilight still clutching her hand. When her eyes flickered back open she was still falling, her sons screaming around her, and she gasped as she snapped back to awareness.
She saw Wind frantically snatching at the winds whipping around them, trying to slow everyone’s fall, and while he did succeed enough for them not to hit the water too hard it still hurt, and Malon drew in a gasp at how cold it was. She choked on the water she accidentally breathed in, and swam for the surface, breaching with a gasp.
“Mom!” she heard someone shout once she surfaced, and saw Twilight swim over to her, face white.
He had Wind on his back, the younger boy looking exhausted from using his power so much, and Legend was next to them, helping Hyrule stay up. Wild was doing okay by himself, but every one of them looked pale and shocked, even Twilight.
“All right, okay, everyone calm down,” she soothed as several of them began to speak as they gathered around her, “Now I’ll tell you what we’re not going to do. We’re not going to panic, we’re not going—“
“LOOK OUT!” Wild suddenly yelled, and Malon and Twilight had just enough time to drag them all away under the water before one of the plane’s turbines crashed into the ocean nearly on top of them. Malon waited a few seconds before releasing the arms she had grabbed, and watched as a trailing missile fell after the turbine, hitting the bottom and exploding.
She surfaced again to every single one of her sons panicking.
“Oh my gosh,” Hyrule choked out, “it blew up. It blew up—“
“Who’s idea was this anyway?” Wild gasped, sounding on the verge of hyperventilating.
“It almost hit us,” muttered Legend, and clutched at a piece of floating wreckage. “A couple meters closer and—“
“We’re dead! We’re dead!” Wind kept repeating in a rapidly increasing panic, his eyes blown wide, “we’re dead!”
“What do we do?” Twilight asked with a shell-shocked expression.
“We survived but we’re dead!”
“HEY!” Malon yelled, and her sons all snapped their gazes towards her. “We are not going to die! Not if I have anything to say about it! Now all of you will get a grip or so help me I will ground you for a month! Understand!?”
The group went quiet, and they all eventually nodded, though their faces were still pale.
Malon blew out a breath, wiping some wet hair out of her face. “Good.“
She gave them a tight-lipped smile, pushing aside her own worry and terror at having come so close to losing both her own life and her sons.
“Now let’s focus on doing something useful.”
(...)
“We have a confirmed hit. Target was destroyed,” Sheik said in a quiet voice.
Time stared at the ground, bangs falling in his eyes as his breath came in ragged gasps, unwilling to fully process what the words Sheik had spoken truly meant.
No.
No.
“Ah, you’ll get over it,” Dark Link drawled, stretching a bit. He smiled up at Time, still standing directly in front of him. “after all, I seem to recall you prefer to work alone...?”
Time grit his teeth and felt the wave of shock and disbelief turn abruptly into one of pure rage.
He snapped his head up and lunged forward for Dark, but Sheik reacted a split second before he did and knocked her boss out of the way. Time ended up grabbing her instead, and he held an arm around her waist while the other pressed against her neck, glaring at Dark Link as she gasped in surprise.
“Release me. NOW!” he shouted as she struggled, and Dark Link raised an eyebrow.
“Or what?”
Time tightened his grip and Sheik sucked in a breath. “I’ll crush her.”
Dark Link tapped his chin with a finger, looking vaguely impressed. “Ooh, that’s a little dark for you... you know what? Go ahead,” he shrugged.
Sheik gasped and Time tightened his grip yet again. “It’ll be easy.”
Dark Link chuckled. “Well then go right ahead, show me.”
Time grit his teeth as Dark Link watched him, feeling Sheik’s pulse beat rapidly from where his arm was wrapped across her neck. It would be so easy. One quick movement and the heartbeat he could feel would stop and the anger boiling in his blood would be released and his family—
His family—
His family would still be dead.
The fight drained out of him and he dropped Sheik with a shaking sigh. She fell to her knees and sucked in a breath, then looked up in disbelief at her employer who so obviously cared nothing for her life. Dark Link barely spared her a glance, staring coldly at Time.
“I knew you couldn’t do it,” he sneered, cape swishing around him, “even though you’ve got nothing to lose! You’re weak,” he spat, then turned and began to walk out of the room.
“...and I’ve outgrown you.”
Sheik finally got to her feet and glanced at Time, who if he’d been looking at her would’ve caught sight of a truly worried and grieved expression shot his way.
Then she was gone and Time let himself cry.
I feel like it has gone by quickly?? But at the same time THE CONCEPT OF TIME IS SO WEIRD TO ME I SERIOUSLY DONT KNOW ANYMORE LOL and Friday I was a bit busy :( it was a friends birthday so I out! But trust me I was ITCHING to pull up tumblr, read and talk to you! You know I love your book recs! And honestly that book sounds creepy! But you’re right I probably would end up reading it and liking it! Definitely added to my list! But I am surprised that you read it solely because you like “easy reads” , things that basically aren’t too stressful! Glad it wasn’t horrible though lol
I SERIOUSLY CANT LOOK THAT MAN IN THE EYES😭 when i turned in my exam to him my heart was beating out of my chest! And UGH IM A SUCKER FOR A HEIGHT DIFFERENCE LIKE MY BRAIN GOES CRAZY!! And idk he’s such a hot DILF lol and YES I DID SEE THOSE HARRY PICS AND I SWEAR I FELT LIKE DROPPING ON MY KNEES FOR THAT MAN😵‍💫😩 he looks so good it makes my head all fuzzy lol
Trust me I WAS CRAZY TOO!! All I wore were band t shirts and merch during my emo phase like I had no normal clothes or clothes that weren’t from hot topic bahaha and honestly I see why you were team Edward! I FINALLY saw the Twilight movies this past summer for the first time! I was never drawn to it when it was popular or the books BUTTTTT if I did have to chose I would have been team Edward lol there was no competition in the first place lol and yes I knew ALL the emo bands lore and stuff! Specifically twenty one pilots’s lore which is all lot lol but taht was like when i was 11 lol now i simply CANNOT due to lack of brain power lol
ANOTHER COUPLE MIGHT BE GETTING ENGAGED?! HELLO?! IM GONNA CRY FOR SURE!! And I’m sure part 4 will be great! You’re really great with coming with such detailed and unique! And you take such classic tropes and give your spin on it! I genuinely think you’re so talented Sam!
What’s crazy is that in my head I call you “ Samantha” when you literally do something crazy in your stories or like make me giddy?? Like “omg SAMANTHA!!!?” Idk if any of that made sense lol anyways Noah would have been cute! But Kyle is definitely more of a frat boy name lol and yeah I know about icebreaker never read it but I’ve definitely seen the girlies go crazy over it lol
My Kyle is literally so sweet! I met him at my schools IT services thing and he helped me out! Then I saw him again and he’s very nice!
And you know I love your long responses and I love you!!!-💜
HAHAHAHAHA I TALK TO MYSELF ALL THE TIME. I CONSTANTLY say “get it together Samantha.” That’s hilarious. I love that! If you’re inclined you gotta let me know which part/line in particular you do that for every once in a while 😭😂💕 please do not apologize for having friends and plans and being social. I’m glad you went out! That sounds like fun! My best friend and I are November birthdays so we celebrate the whole month of our births (our significant others LOVE it almost as much as we do, obviously).
The book was SO CREEPY. Stress level 12/10. So OBVIOUSLY I know the deeper meaning behind “don’t judge a book by its cover” but I’ve literally never picked up a book without judging its cover. Or at the very least the back cover. I’m pretty close with my sister so I often give books about sisters a thorough twice over. ALL THIS TO SAY I had no idea what it was going to be about when I picked it up hehehehe
Omg I could cry. Height difference, DILF, unable to look him in the eyes ughhhh I will also cry. I’m swooning just thinking about it 😭 I gotta write a professor/TA situation one of these days 😍😍😍
I don’t think I had an emo phase. A pseudo emo phase for sure. I never got into bands the way I was supposed to (but if I hear Fall For You I turn into a puddle). I’m obsessed with the image. I am spiraling at the idea you only saw Twilight last summer. I went to the midnight premieres I’m CRYING 😂
I have a lot of ideas in my head but they all boil down to happily ever after, marriage, 2.5 kids, and a white picket fence. I feel bad yall gotta keep reading the same story over and over 😂
Okay Kyle def is more of a frat name that was also what I thought when I switched it over. Noah was too cute I think hehehe maybe another story.
OBSESSED WITH YOUR KYLE MEET CUTE. CAN’T WAIT TO WRITE ABOUT IT 😍💕
Have a lovely start to your week bestie! 💕💕
Xoxo
P.s. Don’t read my update tomorrow if you’re having a good day lol I have been struggling with seasonal depression (I think it’s just regular depression actually at this point. But ya know) I am being dramatic honestly. Please don’t worry about me but regardless I’m probs going through an emo phase NOW hahahahahaha so it’s a little bit of a tear jerker imo
@avaere asked: “ why aren’t you scared of me?  ”  from wriothesley , as he is actually a bit puzzled ( based on their current first interaction ! ) , if it's okay !
Tumblr media
Dáinsleif cannot say that he is entirely surprised of the question the Duke poses. Their first encounter sufficed to make a point that he is to not roam his castle unauthorized no matter if his intention was to not be spotted even by him— not that he would leave any trace behind of a presence that shouldn't have been here, even less right under his office which requires the express control of the patrols guarding the entrance. Perhaps there is a sense of amusement that makes its place in his heart regardless, that the warden would be so conscious that he knows his presence instills fear in many. He just happened to encounter someone that remains unaffected.
Or rather, he simply did not transmit the effect he believes most common among people, but something entirely different.
◜Should I?◞ One question for another that stirs some more the amusement within him, all behind impassible features as Twilight Sword lifts the cup to take a sip of the offered tea— judging by the quality of the main ingredient, of expensive value. The cup is left to rest atop the tea plate thereafter, albeit it still rests on his knee for immediate consumption as he pleases. ◜As far as I am concerned, you are someone akin to a protector of those whom have an earnest wish to rebirth within these walls. Only to instil fear in those who sow discord in a place that should lack chaos.◞
Just as the first time they have met under circumstances Dáinsleif wished to not take place, he is cognizant of the fact that he isn't entirely answering his question nor he revels in the confusion it must leave in its wake. For that reason, unlike their first encounter, he doesn't let incorrect thoughts to fester too much before he has a chance to offer a real answer. ◜Let's say... that past experiences obligated me hone to an acuity to tell apart a noble man from one that is ill-hearted. Someone kind enough to give others a new chance to redeem themselves with their past and offer what is modestly possible for them to start anew doesn't inspire fear to me.◞
Silence ensues and so the Bough Keeper allows it to last a little longer to give Wriothesley time to process that, in fact, he believes he's a noble man. Not like he believes his opinion to be life-changing or even that relevant. It is naught but a genuine answer to an expectant question. Albescent lashes flutter close to enjoy the taste of the tea as he gives it another brief sip to not burn his tongue, lets the enticing scent permeate his smelling sense before setting the cup down once more.
Tumblr media
◜Of course, there is another version of my answer if Your Grace means to ask why I am not scared of you, being knowledgeable of your strength to restrict me if you so desire as long as I linger in your territory. For which I must say...◞ Another sip is taken, and this time there is a glint in his eyes, foreboding. ◜As you take pride and confidence in your fighting skills, so do I as a former knight. I stand true to my word that I am not one for hostility when it is unnecessary, but so it's true that my odds for failure are zero.◞
Just watched Green Lantern Beware My Power. Got to say I am quite disappointed with it.
The rest of this is going to be some what rant-y so skip this post if you aren’t interested in this.
Also many spoilers for the film skip if you haven’t seen it but if you have or don’t care read on.
First up the general premise of the film why did they wipe out the green lantern corps in the first film in a new universe it feels exactly like the writers just didn’t care about  the premise or any future stories that could have been told.
 Also why was John given Kyle’s origin it didn’t feel like it was genuine or that it fit. Now I am going to be honest I like Kyle far more than John so I am a bit biased so I never was going to be okay with this changed.
Speaking of biased what the heck did they do to Parallax Hal and especially Sinestro.
Parallax Hal felt wrong and it’s not just because they didn’t use the outfit why they did that I don’t know why that wasn’t used it’s one of the best outfits I have seen for numerous reasons (I won’t get into because I suck at explain many things) it just because he was so weak and the story was clearly trying to emulate previous stories especially Zero Hour with that ending but he didn’t die in that story so why did he die now?
Sinestro just sucked in this film he didn’t feel like Sinestro and he was kind of pathetic I just feel bad being mean to him of how bad he was in this film I mean why include him to kill him off like that?
Now Shayera, Adam Strange and Green Arrow where fine I have no nostalgia with Shayera  so she was just there for me but by the end she was pretty good same with Adam now Green Arrow was a little bit annoying for me but other than that fine.
Also the Ran-Thanagarian war was pretty decent no complaints there. And the build up to Parallax’s reveal was pretty good but I had that spoiled for me so the shock of it all wasn’t there for me but even with that knowledge the build up before the reveal was great.
Most of my issues with this story is that if you excluded the fact that the corps was destroyed and cut Parallax and Sinestro out of it I probably would have been fine with it or even liked it.
TLDR: The film felt like no one cared about it most of my problems were it using   Emerald Twilight with out any nuanced that could be used the characters were fine to terrible.
I think I might rewrite the problems I felt with it while keeping the general premise such as still using the basses of the corps being dead and John being the last green lantern and Parallax being behind it. Because most of my problems are with the second half.
Anyone who read this far thanks I would love to hear your thoughts.
So many years have passed
Darling I wish you were here.
He carefully stepped into the small grove, not too far from where his family‘s home, and carefully lowered himself onto the ground in front of the grave at its center.
The ground was warm as if it had basked in the summer sun, despite the harsh winds of winter howling just beyond the grove‘s threshold. She had hated the cold. So after her passing, he had made sure that it was always spring around her final resting place. Flowers of all colors grew brightly around the headstone, and some over it, but none of them covered the inscription.
Here lies Molly
Loving Hero, Wife and Mother
R.I.P
His fingers ran over the stone, and he felt his eyes burn. No; it was unbecoming of a god to cry. No matter how much he wanted to. No matter how the loss tugged at him as if wanting to make him unravel.
The stars lean down to kiss you And I lie awake and miss you Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere 'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly But I'll miss your arms around me I'd send a postcard to you, dear 'Cause I wish you were here
Had he not known? Of course he had. It was always a terrible idea for an immortal to get involved with a mortal. He had tried to keep her at a distance. Oh, how he had tried. But she had been so persistent, no matter how curt he was with her. She had chipped away at his emotional walls bit by bit, not even knowing that that was what she was doing, just by being her beautiful self. Until he broke down, and had to admit to himself that he did not have it in him to stay away from her.
Throughout their whole marriage he had braced himself for the inevitable. And yet, when it came to pass, he knew that nothing in the world could have truly prepared him for it.
She had been so fragile towards the end; time and hard work having taken their toll on her body over the years. He had held her in his arms when she breathed her last.
From a human perspective, she had lived a long and fulfilling life, passing shortly before her 95th birthday, sorrounded by her loved ones; meaning him, their two children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.
How could he ever explain to the rest of the family that while yes, her life had been quite long for a human, for him, it felt like he had had barely any time with her?
I'll watch the night turn light blue But it's not the same without you Because it takes two to whisper quietly The silence isn't so bad 'Til I look at my hands and feel sad 'Cause the spaces between my fingers Are right where yours fit perfectly
Love had been every bit as intoxicating as the many songs and stories of humanity had described it to be. But perhaps, he pondered while looking upon the grave, he would have been better off never knowing it. And he wondered if she had ever regretted being his wife.
Being a god‘s bride was anything but easy, he knew as much. He hadn‘t been able to share home and hearth with her, the way a proper husband would have. He had been tied to his shrine on the mountain, only being able to leave it for brief visits. Any other time, she had to come to him, always leaving him with the feeling that, despite all the love he felt for her, their relationship had been frustratingly one-sided. She had never seemed to mind, and if she did, she never said anything.
How he could only stare into the starlit sky at night and replay the few nights he had spent with her in his arms in his mind, over and over again.
But the memory never quite dulled the aching.
I'll find repose in new ways Though I haven't slept in two days 'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone But drenched in vanilla twilight I'll sit on the front porch all night Waist deep in thought because when I think of you, I don't feel so alone
He placed his hand on the gravestone one more time, and for a moment he felt a flicker of a touch, like something reaching out to him.
Something rustled behind him, and he turned to find his children behind him. Though calling them children seemed quite inappropriate now. Amelia, his daughter, was pushing seventy, and Raphael, his son, was only two years younger than her. Though looking at them, one would have put them somewhere in their early to mid fourties. They hadn‘t inherited his immortality, but would be far more long-lived than average humans. Another thing he regretted; along with the longevity they had undoubtedly also inherited the inevitable heartbreak he was experiencing right now.
„I thought I saw you coming here“, Amelia said. „Why didn‘t you come to us first, father? We could have visited mother together.“
He managed a small smile. „I‘m sorry. But I wanted a short moment alone with her.“
„Bet you didn‘t get a whole lot of that after we were born“, Raphael quipped.
He couldn‘t help but chuckle. „Why else do you think your mother came to the mountain to see me every day once you were old enough to be left alone for a few hours?“
I don't feel so alone I don't feel so alone As many times as I blink I'll think of you tonight
I'll think of you tonight
Amelia placed the bouquet of flowers she had been holding at the grave. Once they touched the ground, roots sprouted from the stems and anchored themselves in the soil. Blooming like they had always grown there.
She took a step back and smiled. Then she turned to him again. „Why don‘t you stay for dinner, father? We‘re making baked apples. I may not be able to make them as well as mother did, but… I don‘t know. We can share stories about her.“
„I‘d love to“, he replied. Maybe spending some time with his children and telling old stories would help him.
As they left, he turned around one final time, seeing the shimmer of energy around the grave.
Until next time, my love.
When violet eyes get brighter And heavy wings grow lighter I'll taste the sky and feel alive again And I'll forget the world that I knew But I swear I won't forget you Oh if my voice could reach back through the past I'd whisper in your ear "Oh darling, I wish you were here"
(They’d had a contest one night to figure out where they all ranked; Sky was last, predictably, and Twi not much better. Hyrule had him beat completely on how well the Traveler could read the others’ emotions correctly, but Time? His greatest ability was a complete, smothering blanket of leisurely serenity that he could and did happily toss over the mind of any misbehaving hero who may be ignoring their need to sleep or relax.
I'd love to hear any lore dump about how the chain ranked in bond distance and other special abilities!
Who am I to turn down a request and a chance to just disgorge all the random useless bits of info I've collected while writing FtL? Sorry this took so long, I had to do a surprising amount of rereading to re-establish what I wrote into canon for this fic and NOT contradict that, hopefully~
Wind:
He's actually got pretty low range compared to most of the others, but he leans harder into it on a baseline level. He's not necessarily trying to read anything through it, he just finds it very comforting to know who's close. Mostly because he's younger and not /particularly/ magically gifted, Wind isn't the handiest at noticing when someone's come in range, but to be honest it's so shit that he's usually seeing them at that point anyway.
Four:
I'll be honest, Four hasn't been shown much in his true potential in Don't Go Into the Lights yet between hypothermia and the degrading sitch with his Colors, so this part may get added to once that is better established, but here it is so far: Four's range is center of the pack, but he really doesn't catch much of the subtler things across the bond unless he's paying explicit attention, because there's a lot going on in his own mind, okay? And it kind of tends to drown out what's going on through the mental connections unless it's really potent. That said, when he does pay attention Four is pretty good at parsing the reasoning behind emotions.
He's not reading their minds, but damn if it doesn't feel like it, sometimes. Red's super suave with the emotions, and combined with the others not much escapes that combined focus.
Sky:
Middling range, but very good at sending comfort down the line and using the bond to supplement reading the others' emotional states. Of all the Links he's the best one to proverbially cuddle with mentally, giving off warm, homey vibes. He's also very adept at feeling the others do stuff through the bond too. Or rather, he's quite good at picking up the ways each Link can use and interact with the soul connections between the Chain, even if he has no way to replicate it on his own with his skill level.
Hyrule:
Has the best range, hands down. In his chapter you got a good idea of it: his magical range is crazy as a fairy, and so far as the soul bonds go it's still pretty wild, like quarter mile distance kind of wild, though it's stretched pretty thin at that point and not much use except as an attendance check. As a fairy he is super awesome at reading the others' emotions, and as a hylian he's only slightly less sensitive but also way worse at understanding what he's picking up.
Time:
Fourth best range when he's trying, but he CHEATS with his magic. It serves much the same purpose and can reach even farther than his bond sense can. He usually keeps it tucked close around him unless specifically spreading it out, but he can use it to ping off of the other Links' similar magic (though it works less well for Wars and Twilight, those magicless potatoes). We all know about his weighted blanket effect- a soporific whammy of a calming herbal tea, handy for soothing harried and exhausted heroes.
Warriors:
Second worst range. He is not magically gifted by any means but he DOES have experience in working with the soul bonds via Mask and Toon in the War of Eras, which is literally the only reason he is anywhere near competent at all in using them.
You bet Mask was particularly brutal in teasing and taunting him about how bad he was at using it; there's no motivation like your little brother running mental circles around you laughing. You want the real reason Wars accidentally learned the memory snatching? He was so determined to work that bond that he just exploded onto the scene, much to his and Mask's chagrin.
On that note, the MEMORY SNATCHING. No, he's not truly stealing them in the sense that they're gone from the other Link's mind. He's just sat down to watch the video, is all. Yes, the other Link knows its happening and depending on who it is, knows the exact memory. Even if they can't, the only time it happens is when there's a memory strongly linked to whatever's happening in the first place, and it has to be paired with Wars trying to use the soul bond, so it's not exactly hard to realize what he's probably seeing when they feel the bond snag like that.
Wars cannot control this AT ALL- it takes all he's got to use the bond in any way, so any interaction comes with the risk of yoinking a memory. The Link on the other side can shut it down by closing the connection from their end (pretty instinctive, even for the less adept) and they do when it's important to them, but unless its something really private they usually let it play out. The Captain always feels super bad about it, but it's either this or him not using the bonds, so everyone is happy to risk it so he can be an active member in the connections.
Legend:
Second best range. He can kind of cast it all out in a linear direction to cheat past the amount of... signal??... he has, a benefit of being very good at delicate magic work. I haven't gotten to him in Don't Go into the Lights yet, so unfortunately I don't have much to say on him.
Twilight:
Worst range, barely out of shouting distance and he's got nothing but his wolf nose to tell if the Chain's around. Pretty weak sense of the bonds, but between high emotional intelligence and his ability to smell the emotion-indicative pheromones he's very, very good at getting an accurate read on the others' emotional well-being regardless.
Wild:
Third best range, but has no idea what he's doing. Everything he does is completely instinctive just like his magic, and it's kind of hilarious and also SAD when Legend and Sky (Hyrule uses terms and descriptions that make NO sense to anyone else) try to teach him better how to use it. Maybe someday he'll get the hang of it, but not that we'll be seeing.
