Tumblr media
─── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───
Tears threatened to spill as you gazed upon the man before you. One that you so loved, so craved; one that you have proven loyalty to time and again. Nervous fingers fiddled with the luxurious silk that adorned your body. The material was something you had always eluded before. When your heart was still pumping and breathing was a necessity. You didn’t have much use for those actions anymore, yet you still felt the deep red gown to be constricting.
“My, red really is your color, isn’t it darling?” Astarion’s words encouraged your eyes to wilt towards the floor in submission.
“Yes, love.” They didn’t sound like your own anymore, regardless you still spoke. A gnawing ache permanently etched into your chest as you had come to realize. How long have you been doing this dance with him now? Time was simply a construct of another time for you. One reserved for your long-gone, rosy-cheeked self. Your heart weighed heavier than you could comprehend these days.
Your master’s pale fingers effortlessly land under your chin leading your eyes to his own. His brow furrowed with indignation, you assume at least. “What’s got you down?” He questions, eyes never faltering. You wanted to laugh, though you didn’t; of course. What a ridiculous question it was. You could have prepared a book on the things that are wrong.
The ridiculously lavish gowns you are confined to, for starters. So different from the armor that had once adorned your body when you had first met the fearful spawn. The complete lack of your feelings. The fact that you weren’t allowed to freely-think any longer. Astarion would argue that letting you pick the color of the sheets in the bed-chamber was sufficient enough. You missed the daylight. When light flooded from the doors of the manor, you fantasized of running out. Of making a bed out of the fresh flowers blooming in Baldur’s Gate and basking in the warmth of the rays above. Parts of you longed for it no matter the banishment those same rays would cast on you.
“I’m fine.” You utter instead, a weak smile splaying saddeningly across your face. The lack of attention from Astarion in the past months had taken its toll. Mind convinced he no longer wanted you for love as you had desired. The reason you had given your life to remain in the shadows for its eternity.
“Do not lie to me, darling.” He spoke firmly, a gentle thumb brushing your surely paled cheek. Instinctively your eyes shut and you lean into the touch yearningly. “What is wrong?” It came more as a demand but you were too distracted to comprehend his words. It had been so long since he had shown you the attention he showers you with now. Too long. A soft sigh escapes your lips as his free hand comes up to rest on your shoulder, cold fingertips caressing your cold neck, lingering over the raised flesh of scar tissue.
“I miss the sun.” You spoke hesitantly, your eyes fluttering to meet him once more. He nodded in encouragement, a silent word spoken for you to continue. “I miss being able to come and go as I please.” Your words became more confident. “And I hate this dress.” This elicited an amused chuckle from Astarion.
“What else, pet?”
“I miss you Astarion. Most days I can’t tell if you’re bored with me or not. I am reduced to shadows while you galavant over Baldur’s Gate. I-”
His eyes hardened, an indication to you that you had spoken too freely. “Galavant.” He sneered in distaste, releasing his hold on your chin and dropping his hand from your shoulder. “You think what I’ve been doing is galavanting? I work, without thanks, might I add. I did this for you. To ensure you can have a comfortable existence. To ensure you would never have to put yourself in harm's way again. So that we could spend eternity together. As we are fated.” The distaste in his words seared you.
This was a mistake you had decided. “Right, I’m sorry.” Quiet and meek, you pondered if he knew exactly how frightened you had become of his ruling hand. He had never hit you, no. He did not need to. You felt like another pawn in his game, and here you had let your guard falter just for him to bare his teeth again. Sleep, eat, fuck. That was the comfortable existence you were to live. If this was fate, she had a cruel and unkind hand played to you.
“The dress is nice on you.” Astarion added flatly. “The least you could do is be grateful and wear it without complaint. That is your duty. You look the part, you act the part. That includes not sulking around the manor and ruining my good day.” He sneered, his previously sweet demeanor gone. “I expect you to help me greet our guests. They will be here soon. You will not embarrass me with your sour mood and you will be a dutiful hostess tonight.” Without another word he leaves the bed chamber.
Stinging tears pooled in your eyes. You often wondered if your Astarion was still in there. The one who speaks charmingly to you when he does, the one who touches you sweetly to allow you the briefest moment of comfort and relief in his presence. Or has he just become an expert at fiddling with your strings, at manipulating you to get exactly what you’re thinking out of you. You suppose that is more likely. Astarion had often said the old him died the day of the ritual, something you had chalked up to a figure of speech until recently.
The old Astarion really did die that day, and you were stuck with a monster who moved about in his beautiful skin. You know that now.
─── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───
“You were a good girl tonight.” Astarion delights as the two of you prepare to rest. His body bare, while yours is adorned in the finest nightgown the gold in his pockets can buy. You say nothing as you blindly pull each pin out of your hair. Running your fingers through the strands you discover another pin. Your maid had done an intricate updo in preparation for her master’s guests earlier in the evening, and you had only wished there was a way for you to admire her handiwork. Suddenly a pair of strong hands are on your shoulders. “I believe a reward is in order.”
You stiffened. “Something I receive every night can hardly be viewed as a reward.” You mull as you begin brushing through your hair. The grip on your shoulders tighten in contempt and just as quickly, they loosen.
“Tav?” Fear stricken words grace your ears, and you can’t help but turn quickly, his hands dropping to his sides. Astarion was never fearful. Not anymore. Your eyes are wide with confusion, desperation as your eyes shift over Astarion’s face. “Gods, what has he done to you?” Your stomach sinks. For a split second, you think of just how sickly you may look.
“A-Astarion?” You sputter, wide eyed. His eyes held an admiration you hadn’t seen since the ritual had taken place, since the Astarion you loved dearly had fallen prey to his own quest for power.
His knees buckled beneath his weight, head bowing into your lap. “What have I done?” His body shakes as sobs erupt from him, back rising and falling with each heartbreaking sound emanating. Naturally your hands reach for him, hands splayed over the deep scars on his back. Your own tears stream silently down your cheeks, unable to comprehend whatever is going on.
“Astarion… Is it you?” Carefully spoken, afraid of being deceived once more. What if this was some sort of sick test? What if you're banished to your bed chamber for two months again? You can’t do that again… You won't.
His head lifts slowly, his hands coming up to cup your cheeks. “It’s me, my darling. It’s me.” It is spoken brokenly, voice cracking in defeat. “I’m not sure how long I have. I, gods, I’m so sorry.”
“Wait, what do you mean? Please don’t leave me again Astarion.” The thought of being punished pushed to the back of your mind. This is him. You both grabbed at each other with sorrowful hands. “What do you mean you don’t know how long you have?” Louder than you expected, desperation oozing from every word. “Please don’t leave me.”
“I’ve no choice.” Astarion’s voice is weak. “I’ve been trying to break through since the ritual, love. He…” He trails for a moment, “He’s too strong.” He shakes his head, disgust evident on his tongue. “I’m so sorry, my love.” He begins, stating his apologies over and over again, as if he was stuck in a melancholic daze.
“Where will you go- where are you?” The tears sting at your eyes again, moving down your face and you don’t bother brushing them away, feverishly lavishing in every second you have left with him. “Are you in pain?” You ask shakily.
“I’m here. I’m not in control.” He shakes his head, eyes distant. “It’s dark. The only pain I feel is being away from you.” Infinitely succumbing to darkness, the very thing Astarion had wanted to avoid. His body has become a vessel for something evil. “I can’t-” The words were painful as he seemed to struggle internally.
There is a brief flash of pain upon his face before that same face of contempt reappears. His eyes are dark and he swiftly stands to his feet. He would not kneel to you. Perhaps it was because he had been bested by the soul that lurks deep in his depths, the embarrassment too great, he simply leaves the bed chamber.
You’re left disoriented. You were momentarily glad that the other Astarion wouldn’t punish you for the indiscretion of indulging the spawn that had fought his way out of the darkness for a juncture, perhaps it would come at a later time.
Your mind was plagued, but at the forefront was your love. Suspended in time, in darkness, alone.

Gus Week Day 4 - Childhood
:) @sapphic--kiwi
word count: 640
Augustus Porter was a happy child. He considered himself to be the luckiest child in the Boiling Isles, if he really stopped to think about it. He got to travel all across the Titan with his parents and learn so much about the world he lived in with his mom as his teacher.
Augustus’s mom often compared him to a sponge, he always wanted to learn about all the exciting things around him. His mom was a talented illusionist and Augustus wanted to be just like her someday, although his dad’s reporter job seemed interesting too, from all the stories he came home with.
Augustus wandered across the sand and towards a big pile of treasure tumbling out of the trash slug he could see in the distance, his mom not far behind him, holding a hat firmly onto her head. They were staying in Bonesborough for the next few months, with Augustus’s grandparents, while his dad worked on a big story about the Emperor.
Augustus liked staying with his grandparents. They were nice. But sometimes he overheard them having mean-sounding conversations with his mom and dad about him. He was usually supposed to be asleep when he heard the grownups talk, but it was a secret between him and the Titan. They said things like, “Augustus should be in a real school, like Hexside, not galavanting the isles with Amelia for a teacher.” Augustus didn’t understand. His mom was a great teacher, and he was already more advanced than kids his age in the baby class.
He thought perhaps he could prove to his grandparents how good of a teacher his mom was while at the beach today. He broke out into a run, charging straight towards the trash slug.
“Mommy! Come see, come see!” He called back, laughing. He stopped when he made it there, stooping down to pick through the contents at his feet. Everything was covered in a layer of slime, but he didn’t care. It was part of the experience and fun of treasure hunting.
“I’m coming, baby!” His mom called back, nearly catching up to him.
Together, they went through the treasures that the trash slug had accumulated. His mom told him a lot of this was stuff that had fallen through cracks in their world from the human dimension. Augustus was really interested in humans. They sounded like mythical creatures, only his mom told him they didn’t have magic, so they had to invent all these contraptions to do their magic for them.
“Augustus! Look what I found!” his mom held up an object that spanned the length of her hand.
It looked a bit like a crystal ball. It had a deep blue base with a clear orb over the top, inside was a little house and a tree all covered in snow. Augustus reached for it, having to use both of his tiny hands to hold the thing. It was heavier than he expected.
“What is this, mommy?” He looked up at her, with wonderment in his eyes.
She smiled warmly at him. “That, my love, is how humans cast illusions. They can’t cast them on their own, so they make small figures and entrap scenes in these orbs so they can always remember something.”
“Whoa,” Augustus breathed.
“Do you want to know something else special about it, baby?”
“Yeah!” Augustus looked between his mom and the orb.
She gently took it back from him and flipped it over, revealing a knob on the bottom. She twisted it until it wouldn’t go anymore, then released it and turned it back over. It began to release music, and the snow that had gathered when she’d flipped it over began to fall softly on the roof of the house.
“Humans love using music in their illusions,” his mom informed him. “It’s all a part of their special way to capture memories.”
Augustus just stared at the orb in awe, listening to the pretty music and the pretty snowy scene. He couldn’t wait to show his grandparents how much he had learned today. He was certain they’d be so impressed by all the things his mom taught him.

As much as I would desperately miss Timothy Omundson, Galavant is exactly the type of show where if he couldn’t make it would cast someone new and make jokes about how he’s exactly the same. And then bring Timothy back for the finale.
This is true! And maybe would be acceptable!
I dunno. A large part of why I love this show is him, so I guess it's just hard for me to separate him from it. Like, every time I reblog gifs of him, one of my tags is about how he literally stole the show. XD
But as long as he got to be in it, in whatever capacity, it would have to do.

The love triangle in Wednesday (2022 Netflix TV show) is yet another example of the age-old Hollywood tradition of separating the romantic relationships from the important relationships. And it's a tradition that is just baffling to me.
In Wednesday, Tyler and Xavier are her officially designated love interests that she has to choose between. They don't really matter, though; they're only used to drive the plot along and provide a kiss scene. Jenny Ortega's acting does its best to ensure that there's no actual tension here, no matter how much the script tries to pretend otherwise (and yes, that was a conscious choice on her part, and I love her for it).
On the other hand, the relationships with Enid and, to a lesser but still important extent, Eugene, really matter. All of Wednesday's development as a person is about how she deals with these two, especially Enid.
Her friendship with Eugene makes all the monster attacks deeply personal and becomes the main driving force behind Wednesday trying to solve the show's plot in the second half of the season.
And the relationship between Wednesday and Enid is just the whole emotional core of the show. The lowest moment of the show is when Wednesday and Enid break up, so to speak, and Enid moves out. Later, we get the emotional reunion scene. Finally, the closest thing to a celebration at the end is the moment when Wednesday and Enid have their hug.
And then there are all the small moments where Wednesday learns to be more sociable and to like it, thanks to her interactions with Enid. She learns to be considerate of Enid's feelings and wishes (e.g. removing the murder board). She promises to murder people on Enid's behalf.
Enid and Wednesday is so much the big emotional core of the show that it has even become the show's key visual, in the form of the circular window, half colourful, half colourless, but clearly forming one whole together. This is really not subtle.
Tyler and Xavier are who Wednesday is supposed to kiss; Enid is who matters.
Of course, this isn't a new pattern. You'll find this over all sorts of Hollywood movies (e.g. Captain America 2), TV shows, book series, whatever. Wednesday is not an exception, and in fact Wednesday isn't that original a series overall, except for putting Wednesday Addams herself into this store-brand US Hogwarts. They just did it really well and cast very good actors, in particular Jenny Ortega and Gwendolyn Christie (I love her so much in this, but that's not really relevant to the point).
Personally, I still believe that this pattern is what spawned 90% of gay ships on Ao3. It's fairly evident when one relationship is official and another is meaningful, and ever since the days of Kirk and Spock, fanfic writers have honed in on the meaningful. Wednesday is no exception. As it stands, 959 of the 1,497 works on Ao3 for Wednesday (TV 2022) are Wednesday/Enid, and given the pace at which the fandom is growing, I wouldn't be surprised if they have cracked the 1k by this evening. And they're really good fics that I can recommend.
My big question is: Why do Hollywood writers keep doing this? It's not like it's required, there are plenty of shows where the main romantic relationship is also the most important one, e.g. the whole love situation in Miraculous Ladybug, the first season of Galavant, a lot of "they fight crime" shows like Bones and Castle and so on.
If the writers of Wednesday want to keep Wednesday and Enid platonic, and also have Wednesday have meaningful romantic relationships with boys who I can only tell apart by their hair length, well, I suppose they can do that if they really have to, for some reason. But then why not write these romantic relationships as meaningful as well? As it is, they are all about the boys being like, "I'm into you", and Wednesday being like, "that is very useful. Do my bidding, boy". That's genuinely fun, but it doesn't get me invested.
Anyway, Wednesday is a really well executed show, and I either don't ship Wednesday at all, or with Enid. Because the relationship with Enid is the one that ultimately matters (whether you make it romantic or not), and that's just canon.

I am almost done watching and I cannot tell you how much I loved every second of it. The dynamic is so perfect. It’s such a bummer this got cancelled ): truly a waste of potential. Im thankful to you showing up on my dash regardless. Would you happen to know why it got cut short? I have an inkling it might have to do with racism
Yay! It makes me happy that people are discovering Selfie and watching it for the first time :) Yes, it was really disappointing that the show couldn’t continue and the cast deserved better. I have a list why it was canceled. Sorry this is long lol. I also recommend checking out the Selfie Wikipedia about the cancellation!
Tumblr media
Possible reasons why Selfie (2014) got canceled:
1) The title: Selfie. Some people really hated the name even though it’s still used in everyday life. And it was around the same time when the song #Selfie by The Chainsmokers was released. I don’t think the general public liked being reminded of vanity, so they ended up judging the show pretty quickly. Even a news interviewer said when he heard the title, he wouldn’t watch a show called that. If it had a different name or alluded to My Fair Lady/Pygmalion, maybe it might have had a better chance? Also, “selfie” is hard to search for online, so having a more unique name would have been a plus.
2) Weak pilot and trailer. There was a lot of criticism from critics and the audience for the first episode and trailer. Things like the vomit scene, how social media was portrayed, and Eliza's narcissistic behavior were considered off-putting.
3) Bad time slot and no strong lead-in show. It was on the same time as big TV shows like The Voice and NCIS, which aired on different networks. Also, it didn’t have a strong lead-in show to retain the previous audience. Manhattan Love Story aired right before it, but that was also canceled a few weeks earlier. If something popular like Modern Family aired before Selfie, more people would have stuck around to watch the series.
4) Not enough (good) marketing? Some people speculated that there wasn’t enough promotion. I’ve seen posters about it, but that didn’t really tell you what the show was about.
And the combination of the first four reasons led to the following:
5) Low ratings. Unfortunately, not enough people were tuning in after the first episode and ratings kept dropping. It was canceled after the 7th episode and that was when the episodes became progressively better, but by then it was too late. It aired on the ABC network and the ABC President at the time, Paul Lee, said it was a "very good show,” but decisions had to be made due to losing money from advertisers. While money is an issue, I personally don't think he was a big fan. It's because he favored other shows by getting them another season like Galavant, Agent Carter, and American Crime even though their ratings were declining. Selfie didn’t even get to finish its first season. It was originally supposed to be around 26 episodes.
6) Other networks didn’t pick up the show and/or Warner Brothers didn’t bother to shop the show to other networks. A lot of fans at the time launched a fan campaign to reach out to Hulu (where the rest of the remaining episodes aired), Netflix, etc. to pick up the show, but no avail. Warner Brothers produced the show, but they probably didn’t push for the show as hard as they could have either. AND Selfie is still not officially streaming anymore either (except in Australia) because of the WB.
7) Racism. That might have been part of it, but it’s hard to tell how much especially with behind the scenes and the several reasons above would overshadow it. But racism definitely played a part during the casting process since the production wanted a white Englishman to play Henry in the first place and was reluctant to cast John Cho. Out of the main cast, he was also the last person to be announced. Times are slowly changing, but we could always have more romantic Asian male leads on American TV.
8) It wasn’t given enough time and was on the wrong network. This also ties in with 5) low ratings, but ABC didn’t give it a chance to grow a larger audience especially when the episodes were improving. I don’t think ABC was the right network for this show. If it came out now on streaming or maybe a few years after Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji (where Karen Gillan played Nebula and Ruby Roundhouse), it might have done better. The kicker is that some of the critics changed their minds about the show right when it was canceled. They definitely contributed to Selfie’s demise with the early bad reviews.
That’s all I can think of for now. Overall, the show was poorly managed. Great cast and writing if people could see past the first episode.
Thanks for reading this far! lol

Okay but I have a thought as to how Galavant could be brought back, with Richard still playing a major part in the story (even with Timothy Omundson’s new limitations).
Imagine the season opening with an animated musical number. The Jester singing about how Madelena learned all she could from the DEL before turning on him so that she alone had the power. But having the power wasn’t enough for Madelena - nothing is enough for her. She doesn’t just want the power, she wants to wield it.
So she began spreading a darkness over all the land, and it was up to the One True King (to unite them all) to go up against her. Because how could he unite them all if there was nothing but evil and darkness, ruled over by Madelena’s iron (and well manicured) fist.
So Richard rides against her astride his full grown dragon - hoping to stop her before her evil can spread across all the land. Gareth and Sid have finally reached Madelena as well, hoping to save her from herself.
But they all - Richard, Gareth, Sid, Tad Cooper - they all underestimated Madelena. They underestimated just how insane, how power-hungry she truly is. They underestimated how far she would be willing to go.
And in a moment of crisis, Gareth finds himself forced to make a choice: Save Madelena from herself, or save Richard from Madelena.
And he takes too long to make his choice, and Madelena casts a dark curse over Richard. Gareth makes his decision just in time to save Richard from dying, but not in time to save him from her curse entirely (thus explaining Timothy’s disability).
And thus the musical number ends... with the One True King (to unite them all) struck down by Madelena, Tad Cooper twisted and corrupted by her spell and now stands at her side, a darkness spreading over the land, and Sid desperately riding off to find Galavant and Isabella - because if anybody can save them now that Richard has been struck down... it has to be them.
And thus the show will begin again.
Featuring:
Galavant and Isabella’s constant struggle to find a babysitter for their hyperactive five-year-old while they’re busy with their heroics.
Gareth overwrought with guilt because of what came of his indecision and never leaving Richard’s side, but also conflicted because he knows he is the only one who will be able to get through to Madelena
Madelena getting a montage where she sings a badass villain song while training Tad Cooper how to be evil, intercut with Richard singing wistfully about how he would go about getting his dragon pal back... if only he could.
Richard feeling he is completely useless, up until he gets a scene a la Westley vs Humperdinck in The Princess Bride where he is able to get to his feet, brandish his sword, and demand Madelena return his dragon to him
Roberta deciding that because the prophecy said the One True King would unite them all, as the wife of the One True King she can stand-in for his paralyzed half and still fulfill the prophecy by doing the more physical stuff Richard can’t do anymore, leading to a sword fight between her and Madelena (and a duet of some sort between Richard and Roberta).
Sid coming into his own and becoming the hero that Galavant always knew he could be and finally getting the lead part in an ensemble musical number.
Isabella and Roberta singing a duet about how Done they are with Madelena
Richard and Galavant singing a duet trying to figure out what they ever saw in Madelena in the first place
Gareth and Madelena singing a wistful duet about how much they both still want to be together but can’t because “She loves her power more than me” and “He doesn’t understand what this power does to me” (leading to Madelena's eventual redemption).

Star Struck (Castiel x Angel!Reader)
Warnings: Language, a splash of angst, a little bit of fluff, make out scene
Pairings: Castiel x Angel!Reader
Characters: Cas, Sam, Dean, Gabriel, Jack (mentioned only) Mary (mentioned only)
Word Count: 1.6k
Summary: When the Winchester's and Cas call on you for your help, Cas can't help but be star struck by your presence.
Requested by: @danitisx
Tumblr media
You roamed the streets Dublin, Ireland. Fascinated by the beautiful scenery and amazing culture.
"It's wonderful, isn't it?" A handsome man beside you asked.
"Indeed." You agreed. "Do you live around here?"
"Yeah, just up the road a couple of blocks. I've lived here my entire life. What about you? Where are you from?"
"Uh," You laughed as you scratched the back of your head. "I'm from the States. New York." You decided. It's not exactly like you could tell him you were an Archangel from Heaven.
"I'm Charlie, by the way." He gave you a cheeky grin.
"Y/N." You introduced yourself.
"Would you like to go out for a drink?"
"I would l-" You broke off as you felt a strange tug on your body. "Damn."
You were surrounded by a circle if Holy fire. You took in your surroundings. You seemed to be in some sort of emergency bunker. "What in Dad's name." You mumbled. "Alright, whoever summoned me here, if you don't show yourself, I'll smite you!" You growled, trying your best to be intimidating.
"Y/N." A soft voice said.
You whirled around to see a familiar angel. "Castiel." You breathed. "You're the one who summoned me here? Why?" You tilted your head to the side, similar to how Castiel would do whenever he was confused.
Two other familiar men emerged from around the corner. "Winchester's. Hello."
"Y/N. Good to see you again." Sam nodded.
"Ya know, if you wanted me here so badly, you could've called instead of summoning me here with a ring of holy fire. Which, by the way, is extremely uncomfortable."
"Sorry," Dean shrugged, throwing a glass of water, extinguishing the fire. "Precautionary measure."
"Fair enough." You slid off your black over coat and set it on the back of a chair. "So, what can I do for you boys? Do you need an elixir of some sort? An herb, perhaps? A spell?"
"They need some of your grace."
Your eyes darted from Castiel's over to him. You thought he was dead, long dead. This didn't make sense.
"You."
"Me." Gabriel smirked. "Hello, little sister. Long time no see."
"Yeah," You scoffed, raising your voice. "Long time no see because you dumbass got yourself killed by our brother! Or so I thought. Because to me, you look perfectly fine."
You trembled with anger. You had thought your brother was dead. You mourned him for so long. You cried for him, and there he was, alive and healthy. For now.
"Y/N-" He sighed.
"No! You don't get to talk, asshat!" You growled. "You let me believe you were dead for years! I cried for you, I prayed to you, to Dad! And there you are, fine and dandy."
Sam, Dean and Cas stepped back a little, giving you and your brother some space. Out of everyone, they understood family problems.
"You son of a bitch!" You screamed, using your powers to slam Gabriel into a wall. He gave out a small grunt as his back hit the cold brick wall. "You let me think you were dead! How could you?!" You clenched your fist, making it harder for Gabriel to breathe. "You were my best friend! My brother! And you heard how much pain I was in and decided to let me keep suffering! You insufferable dick!" Your eyes were glowing a bright blue.
"Y/N!" Castiel called your name, trying to calm you down. "Y/N! Stop." He rested a hand on your shoulder, squeezing lightly. "You need to calm down. Let Gabriel explain."
"You guys have ten minutes to explain everything that's going on before I get my ass out of here and never come back."
The men sat you down and explained everything that happened in your absence. Including your nephew.
"You're telling me Lucifer has a son?" You questioned. "Someone actually wanted to have sex with my brother?"
"Uh, well, Kelly thought that Lucifer was the President." Sam coughed.
"The Presid-" You cut yourself off. "Okay. . . Clearly I've missed a lot. So, you want me to give you some of my grace in order to get Jack and your mother back?"
"Yes." Dean nodded. "You're our only option left. Gabriel tried to help, but most of his grace was drained by Asmodeus and it'll take time to replenish."
"Fine. I'll help."
"Really?" Cas said hopefully. "You'll help us?"
"Of course." You gave him a gentle smile. "Jack is my nephew after all. He needs a female figure in his life. And I refuse to let him be corrupted by Lucifer. My brother won't have any contact with Jack if I can help it."
"Why do you care so much about Jack?" Dean asked, his eyebrows furrowed. "You've never met him."
"Doesn't mean I love him any less. He's family. And until recently, I thought everyone I loved was dead. So I can deal with the fatigue and snappiness that comes with losing some of my grace."
"Thank you." Cas said gratefully. "Thank you so much."
"Okay." You took a deep breath. "Could I get some help with extracting my grace? I'd do it myself, but I can be a bit squeamish." You looked over at the beautiful blue eyed man in a trench coat. "Would you help me?"
"Oh," Cas seemed to be flustered. "O-of course."
You grabbed the tool and headed into an empty bedroom. "Okay, let's get this over with." You said, pushing your hair to one side of you shoulder to let Castiel extract your grace. "Just. . . Be gentle, okay?"
Cas nodded, still seeming unnerved. "You're scared. Why?"
"Well. . . You're one of the most powerful angels to ever walk the earth. You were one of God's favorites and most trusted. You led an entire army of angels into battle with demons. You banished the Princes of Hell back into Hell. You're amazing!"
You gave Cas a soft smile. "That's very sweet of you, Castiel. But I'm not the same angel anymore. I'm certainly not Father's favorite anymore. He was the one that cast me out of Heaven after he found out I had relations with a human. I'm not amazing. I'm ordinary."
"Well, you're extraordinary to me. You're helping us get Jack and Mary back. Even though you don't have to."
"It's the least I can do." You dismissed him with a wave of your hand. "You and the Winchester's have saved the world more than once. Granted, you almost ended it as well, but at least you fixed it. Plus, I can tell these people mean a lot to you."
"They do. They're my family."
"And I'm very happy that you've found your family, Castiel." You cupped his face in both of your hands. "You were a wonderful servant to Heaven, and an even better leader when the time came. You deserve to be happy after all the havoc that's happened to you." You pulled away, resting your hands in you lap.
"You would have been far better than I was. You are a good angel, and an amazing leader."
"I'm no better than Lucifer."
"Y/N," Castiel said in astonishment. "You are nothing compared to Lucifer. You are compassionate and kind. You care about people."
"But when the world was ending, I was off galavanting around the world. And when people were in danger and dying, I turned a blind eye and let it all happened!" You cried, tears rolling down your cheeks. "If I don't help, then I'm part of the problem, Castiel. I yelled at Gabriel for disappearing, but I did the exact same thing. I left, I left Heaven, my brother's, all of the other angels, I left them. For a jackass human that never really loved me. So you ask me why I'm doing this for you? I'm doing it because I've never done anything good in my existence. Ending that war with the demons, sure, it saved humans in the long run, but I never cared about that. I was just following Dad's orders. Like a good little soldier."
"Y/N," Cas began.
"Just. . . Take my grace. . . Please?"
Castiel frowned as he gingerly brushed your hair aside. "This might sting." He warned as he plunged the extractor into your neck. You winced, gripping your leg in order to cope with the pain. Cas ended up getting five vials filled with your grace.
"It should replenish eventually, but it might take some time."
You went to stand up, but immediately felt lightheaded. Cas came behind you, holding you up. You inhibitions were lowered when you lost grace, and this time was no exception.
"Has anyone ever told you you have the most beautiful eyes?" You smiled. "They're like the ocean."
Castiel's face tinted pink and he gave a sheepish grin. "Thank you, Y/N. You have very beautiful eyes as well."
"Is that the only thing you find attractive about me, Castiel?" You ran a finger along the length of his arm.
"I- Um. . ." The angel was flustered once again. "Well, o-of course there are other things attractive about you. You're gorgeous. Your lips are perfect, t-they look very soft."
"Why don't you find that out yourself." You smirked. You pulled Cas down by his tie, his lips meeting yours.
Castiel was hesitant at first, and you knew he never really understood kissing. You moved your lips against his, and he finally understood. You didn't even know you had been moving until your back hit the brick wall.
You hands got tangled in his dark hair, while his wrapped around your waist.
There was a loud bang at the door, making Cas pull away from you. "If you're done making out with my sister, we kind of need this show on the road." Gabriel called from the other side of the door.
"Cockblocker." You grumbled. "That was one hell of a kiss, Cas. We should do it again sometime." You gave him a wink as you headed back to the library.
"I need a cold shower."

i have been working religiously on my book, so here is another part for y’all!
— — —
“I’m sorry, Mister Proctor,” Mary whispered as they approached Proctor’s horse.
“For a mouse that squeals and cries as loudly as you do during punishments, you sure love doing things that will warrant such treatment,” Proctor said.
Mary lowered her head. It still hurt. “I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want to hear your excuses. Help me onto my horse.”
Mary obeyed.
“Do try to keep up. I don’t want to be waiting on you. A storm is coming.”
“Yes, sir.”
Proctor was right: a storm was coming, and it hit with the regular ferocity of a Massachusetts winter tempest. Now she understood why Proctor was wearing so many layers.
By the time they were halfway to the farm, Mary was completely soaked and shivering, the cold having crept deep into her bones, turning them into rods of ice. She wondered if this freezing rain had been sent by God Himself to punish her for her wrongdoings. It certainly felt like a lashing from the Lord.
“You could have been back inside by now,” Proctor mused atop his steed. Mary could barely hear him over the crunching of gravel and pattering of rain. “But instead you had to go galavant through Salem.”
“I was worried about my friends,” Mary said, daring to defend herself.
Proctor scoffed but didn’t say anything.
In the distance, a farm swam through the sheets of icy rain. It wasn’t the Proctor property, so there was no point in stopping, but someone called out to them anyway.
“Ah, John! Have you come to accuse me some more? If you haven’t noticed, it’s raining. I can’t set anything on fire in this weather.”
Proctor ground his teeth. “I already apologized to you for that.”
“And yet, here we are!”
There was an old man leaning on the fence bordering the property, white hair clinging to a balding scalp, deep blue eyes sparking with mischief in the half-light. He had a wrinkly lizard’s face and hands more befitting for a skeleton. Despite his age, Mary knew he had enough vigor to best any of the younger men in the village. She heard he once beat a burglar to death with a cane. He was a lot of vex and a little well-mannered, and he loved nothing more than to irritate the people of Salem Village, especially John Proctor.
“It would be a shame if this would be the year your land floods, John,” Giles Corey said. No person in their right mind would be out in this storm; he had definitely been waiting for Proctor to go down the road so he could prod him. He would risk getting ill if it meant he was able to dig under the younger farmer’s skin.
“If this is some kind of attempt to get the deed to my farm, then you can save it,” Proctor said, spurring his horse into motion again. “I’ve heard it all, Giles.”
Corey huffed. His expression brightened once again when he noticed Mary holding onto the saddle.
“Ah, Mary Warren! How are you, dearest? Is the back of your head alright?”
Proctor was quick to step in: “Don’t talk to her,” he snapped at Corey. Then, to Mary, “Don’t talk to him.”
“Yes, sir.”
“You’re going to kill that girl, John!” Corey shouted after them. “If you ever need a place to flee to, Mary Warren, Martha and I are willing to take a servant!”
His words were washed away by the rain, but they remained rooted inside of Mary’s brain. If only she could switch employers. If she weren’t an indentured servant, she would have gone to the Putnam’s a long time to work with Mercy. Maybe then every day wouldn’t be such a pain.
And speaking of pain…
Mary winced, tentatively touching the back of her head. She couldn’t tell if the dampness she was feeling was blood or just rainwater. Didn’t matter now. She dropped her arm.
Above her, Proctor was muttering in his saddle, casting a dark look at the road in front of him. He said something about Giles Corey and something else about the farm and something else about wanting to rip out the old man’s gizzard. He seemed awfully worked up about the confrontation.
“If I may, sir…”
Proctor looked down at her, eyes narrowed. Mary nearly stopped talking right then and there, but she swallowed her nerves and continued on.
“If Mister Corey is such a bother to you, why not do more to stop him?”
“Are you lame, girl?” Proctor snapped. “What do you think I’ve been trying to do all this time? Ever since the fire, he’s been a thorn in my side.”
The fire referred to a fire that started in Proctor’s house, a time before Mary went to work with his family, which she was grateful for because she wouldn’t have been able to handle that drama. Naturally, Proctor said Corey was responsible for the fire, which made Corey file a lawsuit against Proctor. Later, one of Proctor’s sons would come forward and admit to being the one to cause the fire. Proctor begrudgingly apologized, but that didn’t stop Corey from continuously bringing it up whenever he got the chance.
“Why do you bring it up?” Proctor then asked. “What would YOU do? Since you think you’re so clever.”
“Me? Well, I-- I, uhh… Maybe raise the price on the land? Make it to where it would be too expensive for him to want to buy.”
Proctor opened, then closed his mouth. Then, he squinted at her. Finally, he actually laughed and took off his broad-brimmed hat, batting her over the head with it.
“I guess you aren’t so stupid after all,” he said affectionately. “I’ll have to keep that in mind.”
Mary cracked a small smile. The bad outweighed the good when it came to her master, but she knew John Proctor wasn’t all cruelty and lashings. He had a strong softness for all of his children and a deep love for his wife. Sometimes Mary would hear him reading light-hearted Bible stories to his younger kids at night. Sometimes she would stand outside the room and listen.
Through the glistening shroud of mist and drizzle at the side of the road, the Proctor property unfolded from the fog like a proper country castle. Acres upon acres of emerald green grass, sturdy barns, a fine house, fields chock full of crops and livestock. Their cattle were fat and happy, slick with rain, water streaming from their round bellies and mud splashing up from each delicate footstep. It darkened their coats and made them look like they were soaked in blood. It was no wonder why Giles Corey wanted the land so badly. It was thriving with wealth.
“Put my horse away,” Proctor said after sliding off the chestnut stallion’s back. “Tack him. Then come inside immediately. Do not run off.”
“Yes, sir.”
Proctor gave her one last warning stare, then handed her the reins and walked to the house.
Mary would have taken her sweet time putting away the horse if it weren’t for the fact that she was freezing and her head was killing her. She tacked the stallion, put him into his stall, and fed him in record time, ready to get inside and change out of her wet clothes. However, when she finally entered the house, she didn’t get to do that. She was stopped by her master and mistress.
Proctor and Elizabeth were speaking to each other, but Mary could tell they were arguing, despite their level tones. They both turned to her when she stepped inside. Proctor was already in dry clothes, standing beside the roaring hearth. The flames looked so comforting and warm.
“Stay where you are,” Proctor ordered, noticing her desire to go to the fire.
“Yes, sir.”
“I understand she is in trouble, but at least let her warm up,” Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth Proctor had always been Mary’s favorite Proctor. Twenty-two years her husband’s her junior, though she looked a lot younger than that, she was kind and patient, never using the whip and rarely ever raising her voice. She wore dresses in soft shades, greatly mirroring her soothing nature; right now she was wearing a pale green gown with a white apron. Her hair was champagne blonde and her eyes were a pretty hazel with flecks of gold near the pupils. Mary craved her warm, maternal gaze so much it was almost painful.
“No,” Proctor said. “This is a part of her punishment.”
“She is going to freeze. Do you want our servant to freeze, John? Then what shall we do?”
“Get a better servant, perhaps? One that won’t run off?” He shot a glare at Mary, reminding her that he was, in fact, still mad about that, in case she had forgotten. She hadn’t.
So much for their moment on the road.
Elizabeth opened her mouth, then sighed. She looked at Mary. “Yes, you should not have run off. You aren’t allowed to go anywhere without our permission. You know that.”
“Yes, ma’am. I’m sorry.” Always obedient, always agreeable. Mary knew her place.
“Why did you leave?” Elizabeth asked.
“Mercy came to see me, ma’am,” Mary answered. She didn’t want to throw her friend to the crows, but she also knew better than to not be dishonest, especially when she was already in trouble. “We wanted to go check on Abby and Betty. We heard that they weren’t well.”
“I heard that, too,” Elizabeth nodded slowly. “How are they?”
“Strange. They slept like the dead, but woke up out of nowhere and started screaming. Betty tried to jump out of the window!”
Elizabeth’s eyebrows shot up. “Did she?”
“That is none of our concern right now,” Proctor growled, butting his way back in. “This disobedience cannot go unpunished.”
Elizabeth sighed. “Yes…I suppose you’re right. I say no dinner tonight.”
Proctor rolled his eyes. “You coddle her, Elizabeth.”
“I do not coddle her!”
Ignoring his wife, Proctor looked at Mary, “Fetch me a switch.”
Mary released the breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Her heart leapt out from the pit in her stomach. She nodded.
“Yes, sir.”

The Proposal
Warnings: none!  A/N: Third  installment to the Teagan Valencia Series!  A fluffier chapter because the next one is going to be intense... like woah, ‘that was unexpected’ intense. Disclaimer: This is a FICITONAL writing piece on Charlie Gillespie. In no way do I claim or declare that Charlie’s portrayal is accurate to real life. I do however, own Teagan Valencia :)
Masterlist
The Teagan Valencia Series: The Meeting  / The Fight / The Proposal / The Present / The Recovery / The Future
The Proposal
“Cut! Alright let’s do touch up and we will run that scene one more time”
Kenny’s voice brought Teagan back to reality. Charlie and Maddie were laughing and wiping their tears as the make up team came for touch ups. Owen and Jeremy stood in their positions waiting to repeat the scene and complimenting the two leads. Teagan caught Charlie’s eye and he blew her a kiss from where he was standing, which caused Maddie to wave enthusiastically at me, and a “HI TEAGAN!” from Jeremy and Owen. She smiled and waved at them, Maddie spontaneously breaking out into a small dance where she kept flipping her hand in the air. For a moment, Teagan was confused, until she pointed to her own ring finger then back at Teagan. A smile came to her face as she remembered the high they were all riding from the weekend.
***
Charlie shuffled around the foyer of the hotel lobby. Charlie did get nervous from time to time, but the nervousness, excitement and, oddly enough, fear was eating him alive.
“Dude it’s going to be fine” Owen placed a hand on Charlie’s shoulder to help calm him down. Charlie gave Owen a nervous smile.
“How’s my bowtie? My hair okay?” Charlie rushed to look into the reflective surface of the wall beside him.
“Charlie you look fine. Plus, she isn’t going to care about what you’re wearing. Your plan is full proof!” Jeremy held him by both shoulders and tried to help ease his nerves.
“Were you this nervous when you were proposing?” Jeremy chuckled and nodded his head releasing Charlie from his firm hold.
“Absolutely, but I knew I had to do it. I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else” Charlie smiled at the nostalgia that crept onto Jeremy’s face reminiscing on the day he proposed to Carolynn. “Everything is going to go exactly how it needs to go. Now, take a deep breath. You don’t want her to catch on too early do you?”
“Better breathe quickly. Here she comes!” Owen whisper-shouted to the two leaving them to approach the staircase that the girls were descending. Being the southern gentleman he was, he offered an arm to Maddie as she descended the last few steps.
“I will never understand how girls in the movies make it look like walking down stairs in heels is the easiest thing in the world!” She scoffed, gladly taking Owen’s hand in hers. Savannah and Tori giggled behind her, being used to wearing heels on more than one occasion. The staff at Netflix were throwing a formal evening party to celebrate the success of Julie and the Phantoms. The series had been a hit! This meant that the production budget was increased and so were the possibilities of the show. The entire cast and production crew, old and new, were invited to the event in LA as they were close to starting the filming of season 2. Naturally, Charlie brought Teagan as his date, while Jeremy brought Carolynn. The rest of the Julie and the Phantoms cast decided not to bring someone else as their plus one, but everyone knew it was going to be an amazing night. Everyone was dressed in their evening best and Charlie was surprised at how well everyone cleaned up, but he wasn’t prepared to see Teagan and Carolynn descend the staircase last. Charlie could tell you were nervous when Carolynn whispered something to help ease the tension in your shoulders. Teagan wore a modest high neck a-line floor length emerald gown with a beaded bodice that faded into the bottom half of the dress. She wore her hair in a simple elegant side bun with soft curls framing her face, making her look more radiant than ever. Charlie was glad that she got ready with the other girls because although she looked absolutely stunning, he could still tell that it was Teagan. Her makeup wasn’t too overpowering, but wasn’t too simple either, and her dress complimented her beautifully.
“Charlie?” her voice brought him out from his day dream and admiration. “Is it too much?” she bit her lips slightly, an action that made Charlie’s heart swell but also tempted him to take you back to the apartment for an evening between the two of you.
“What? Are you crazy? You look stunning!” He kissed your cheek gently, placing his hand on the small of your back. “You make me look like an attendant” he chuckled. Charlie almost felt sheepish standing next to you in his black suit and bowtie.
“Nonsense, you’re handsome as always” she kissed him on the nose, wiping off some of the lipstick that rubbed off on your nose.
“S’excuse me! The limo is waiting!” Maddie interrupted their flattery exchange, and with a smile Charlie extended his arm out to Teagan, escorting her to the limo with the rest of the group. That evening was filled with laughter and smiles as everyone dined and danced the night away. However, the night didn’t end when everyone left the event to go galavanting on the Malibu beach at midnight. At this point, nobody cared about dirtying their clothes as everyone was too lost in the fun and was comforted in the fact that Owen reminded us of drycleaning. They cherished each other’s company as the girls walked barefooted on the sand with shoes in hand, the guys with their suit jackets over their shoulders. As everyone played “What are the odds” on the beach, Teagan watched Charlie quickly dash into the wave to quickly dash out, now half wet. Teagan watched a brief moment of panic cross his face, to relief wash over him, and nerves reach his eyes. As Owen declared a giant game of tag, Teagan sat out on a big piece of driftwood, Charlie joining her. His mind drifted to when he had asked her father for her hand in marriage...
***
Charlie’s palms were wet with sweat and his body was buzzing with nerves. He took a deep breath before pressing the doorbell alerting the residents of his presence. Teagan’s mom answered the door, a slight look of surprise and confusion on her face at the man at their front door.
“Charlie? What are you doing here? Come on in!” she ushered him in quickly as the rain had began to fall outside, giving him a big hug as he entered. Like any good host, she brought him to the table and insisted he sit, momentarily leaving him to grab a cup of tea and snacks from the kitchen. “I didn’t expect company anak! Sorry about my clothing”
“You look fine Mrs. Valencia!” he smiled, trying to hide his nervousness and thanking her as she placed home baked filipino snacks in front of him with a cup of green tea. “These look delicious!” he enthused as he took a bite, and he probably would’ve enjoyed them more, if his stomach wasn’t so busy doing summersaults.
“So how are you? What’s going on?” Mrs. Valencia had a way of soothing Charlie with her motherliness. She reminded him of his mother at times and that brought him comfort. “I thought you weren’t coming until tomorrow?”
This was the big weekend that Teagan would officially be moving to live with Charlie for good in LA. She had gotten the promotion she had worked hard for and Netflix offered her a bigger role with the marketing team in the US. When Teagan was first promoted, she would fly down for weeks at a time but it quickly came up in conversation that it didn’t make sense to pay rent for a place she barely lived in.
“I-uh wanted to surprise Teagan a day in advance, but she doesn’t know I’m here yet” at this information, Mrs. Valencia cocked an eyebrow, now curious and slightly suspicious of this secret visit. “Is Mr. Valencia home too?” Charlie knew the man was retired and rarely left the house without his wife. She nodded and went to fetch him which felt like an eternity to him as he sat there in the silence of their dining room. His leg began to bounce restlessly and he played with the snack in front of him until he heard footsteps approaching. He took a deep breath as Teagan’s dad walked into the room.
“Charlie! What are you doing here?!” her dad’s voice boomed in the house moving to give him a hug. Charlie gave him a hug and a smile as well, sitting down in his original spot, while he father sat across from him and her mother in between the both of them. “I thought you were coming tomorrow?”
“I wanted to surprise Teagan and uh talk to you two, actually” he felt the nerves rising in his throat and started to fidget in his seat. He could see Mrs. Valencia perk up and become excited, but he could also see Mr. Valencia become serious, the big smile now disappearing. “Teagan and I have been together for three years and you have an amazing daughter.” He hated how his voice was shaky and that he was stuttering, but still he persisted. There was no backing down now. “She has been the best thing that has happened to me and I know that I haven’t always been the best for her, but I can’t see my future without her” For some reason, the more the thought about Teagan and how much he loved her, the stronger his voice felt. “She has made me a better person and I’ve been so blessed to have her a part of my life. So before I take your daughter to come live with me in LA, I wanted to ask the both of you a question about a decision I have been ready to make for a while.” Charlie sat up straighter. “I love Teagan more than words can explain and I know how much it would mean to her that I ask you both before asking her” He took a deep breath.
“Do I have your blessing to ask Teagan to be my wife?”
The silence was thick and tense. Mrs. Valencia was tearing up, looking at her husband. Mr. Valencia folded his hands in front of him, bowing his head.
“Do you swear to take care of my daughter, no matter what?” Charlie didn’t know he was holding his breath until Mr. Valencia asked him this question.
“On my life sir” and with a nod, Mr. Valencia sat back in his chair, a happy but sad smile on his face.
“You have our blessing”.
***
“Y’alright?” Teagan looked at him with light concern in her eyes, interrupting him from his thoughts.
“Yeah why?” Charlie chuckled but avoided eye contact, sending Teagan warning signs that something was up. Teagan eyed him carefully in silence as he looked onwards to his friends running around. She then noticed that occasionally her friends would glance over to them in their game of tag. Maybe they knew something that she didn’t?
“Nothing... It’s just... You seem tense and I don’t think I’m the only who notices” she expressed nodding her head over at their friends. Charlie shifted weight from side to side and chuckled softly to himself. Teagan was going to drop the topic but quickly changed her mind when Charlie’s face adorned a deep pensive seriousness. Teagan began to worry that something heavy was bothering him.
“You know I tell you everything right?” Charlie looked her in the eyes and she desperately tried to read the man to find some sort of comfort to her increasing worry. She nodded and he grabbed her hand in his taking a deep breath, steadying himself. “Do you trust me? Because what I have to tell you will radically change things for our future”. His eyes expressed a worried sincerity and Teagan began to think the worse. Had he cheated? Was he breaking up with her? But things had been so good! Or was there something more?
“Charles Jeffrey Gillespie, tu m'inquiètes. What’s going on?” she started to wring her hands together, a nervous tick that came out when her anxiety started rising. Charlie knelt in front of her between her legs, looking down taking a deep breath. When he looked back up at her, his eyes seemed glossy and watery and hot needles started to prick at Teagan’s skin as her heart rate increased. He held her hand in his and took another deep breath, opening and closing his mouth a few times.
“I don’t know how else to say this without coming flat out and saying it. I want you to know that I love you with my entire being and there is no one else on this earth that I would rather be with. You accept me despite my major flaws and you forgive me even when I don’t deserve it. I am truly grateful that you are the person for me” Teagan’s face remained frozen, bracing herself for whatever news had gotten her boyfriend so distraught. She was so focused on his words and his every breath, that she didn’t notice their friends creeping up on them with their phones out, filming. She didn’t notice Charlie reach into his damp pocket to pull out a small damp box. She didn’t notice him open the box and present it to her. She felt utterly confused when Charlie smiled at her with misty eyes and said “Will you do me the honour of being my wife and marry me?”
Immediately, tears came rushing out of Teagan’s eyes, emotions crashing into her in waves. All she could do was utter a “Yes”, hold his face in her hands and kiss him. The cheer of their friends erupted at her reply as the two of them kissed. Charlie broke the kiss to place the ring on her finger, kissing her hand and looking at her with pure love in his eyes. More tears came to her eyes as she realized the ring on her hand was the same ring her grandfather had used to propose to her grandmother and the same ring that her father had used to propose to her mother. Charlie gave her a knowing smile and stood up with her, laughing as she smacked him on the chest before hugging him.
“I thought you were going to tell me something really bad! Tu m’as inquiété! Sérieusement!" she laughed and chastised through the tears that were slowly coming to a halt. As they hugged, their friends came closer and approached them, offering their hugs and congratulations. No one could ruin the happiness present on the beach that evening as the both of them began their journey towards Mr. & Mrs. Gillespie.

Thoughts after 1 episode of...
Tumblr media
Continuing "the further (ironic) adventures of Televinita Literally Doesn't Know Anything On Television Anymore," last week a new blogger I follow declared this FOX show I’ve never heard of her favorite of 2021, and upon seeing a cast list with 3 of my veteran TV faves (particularly PIPER PERABO, MY LOVE) + “a show about making a [fictional] dance reality show,” I immediately threw myself into it.
I ADORED what I saw, so I’m going to take a moment before moving on to jot down some thoughts.
(Gonna make a concentrated effort to teach myself character names as I go, too)
Part One: Character Impressions
1. Oh my god I love Scott Foley as the heartless drama-driven producer. (Nick?) Although I shouldn’t have led with that phrasing because I want to say exactly the same about all of the following people:
2. Simone Recasner as Gabby. I’ve never seen her before but she has INSTANT screen charisma and also is incredibly pretty. How is she crowding out Piper for Resident Screen Beauty Queen.
3. Piper Perabo as Paula, OBVIOUSLY; we’ll come back to this.
4. Mallory Jensen, a.k.a. Our Beloved Queen Madalena from Galavant, as the somehow even meaner judge/choreographer Monica.
5. John Rudnitsky, another new-to-me face, as sad-sack Mike.
WHO’S THE HOT FOOTBALL DUDE AND WHAT IS THIS MAGIC HE’S WORKING ON ME, THE GAL WHO NEVER CARES ABOUT ATHLETES. Am I subconsciously now primed to love football players after spending the first trimester of 2021 watching The Game and the last one watching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?? But dude is ripped, and once again I did NOT think I was the kind of person who fell for muscular broad-shouldered dues, but this one’s really working for me. Also I like that he’s got such an affable personality and notably did not take one look at Gabby and go “girl plz.” The rage issues do not have me so much as batting an eye because frankly, that’s just me on an average Tuesday, only it’s through a computer screen instead of smashing jerks’ windshields in person.
edit: oh right, his name. Apparently, Ser’Darius Blain as Reggie Sadler.
Second-tier love but I think she’ll grow on me: Teri Polo as Julia, and also her entire family, from Hey, It’s That Guy Seth Morris to her suuuuper pretty daughters (who are real-life sisters according to IMDB; let me see them more!)
Seems to be more of a guest star, but don’t let me forget Gabby’s mom! She is SO SWEET.
Honestly there is not one person who enrages me on sight so far, and that just...never happens on TV shows these days. The exotic dancer and the incestuously-dancing twins are probably lowest on my totem pole, but only because of the inevitable Omega rule. I’ve watched shows where I disliked almost half the cast more than I dislike them.
Part II: Story Thoughts
I love the premise of this show.
Really like that I have suffered nothing even close to a sex scene so far. I don’t trust this pattern to hold, but it’s a better sign than not that they didn’t count on that aspect to bring viewers to their pilot.
Oh, Mike. I have all the sympathy, while also understanding why his wife left him? Love this state of things for me!
Also love his supportive buddy group.
And even though I have decided I would currently be just fine with him saving his marriage because his ex is cute as a button and I want her to have her happy-guy husband back if she wants him, OF COURSE I AM SHIPPING HIM & PAULA LIKE A MADWOMAN.
The fire escape dance-flirting was SO CUTE. Are you kidding me??? Entire rom-coms are BUILT on this! (also: yes plz to the “technically she fired him but neither of them knows that...but the producers know” drama.)
I also feel like Paula’s breast cancer backstory is going to come back in dramatic fashion and I’m here for it.
My heart’s just gonna be over here breaking for Julia, if that’s okay. I’m not there yet, but in 10-15 years I will be, and I can already empathize with her trying to compete for social media followers with people half her age, and kinda feeling like you’re still in your 20s/disconcerted by the reality of the world not seeing you that way. I am personally offended every day that I now look too old to be a traditional college student.
I feel very little about Justin as a character so far, but that guy can dance.
My heart is all the way broken for Gabby losing out on her dreams for a smaller life as a teen mom, and I want to hear more about the depression that caused her to cut ties with her best friend ("I couldn’t be anyone’s friend” oh hatpin to the heart, I’ve felt that before), right before he needed her because Homophobe Dad. I hope there are flashbacks.
Speaking of sad things about Gabby...
“She’s going to fall in love with him, and he’s going to break her heart.” Oh I am MAD that you pegged me for exactly what I want to happen (the first half anyway), and also what I agree will make for good TV and keep me watching. So I guess I’m also a little impressed?
Gonna measure my expectations and just quietly ship Gabby/Reggie in my own way so that nothing can disappoint me. They have such good buddy chemistry! I would be fine with that! (I say...but we also know how long that tends to lasts with me.)
But seriously, it has been like a YEAR or maybe TWO since I even cared about new TV characters enough to think of them outside of watching the show, let alone felt genuinely shippy about them; I am so thrilled.

Just found out that my favorite voice-actor who’s accompanied me through my whole life, was part of my major fan obsessions, and I was lucky enough to meet twice, has dementia. I’m sad and very scared.

"Jason: Bruce, I forgive you for not saving me. But why? Why on God's Earth won't you go DOWN on her? Ignoring what she's done in the past. Blindly, stupidly, disregarding the entire museums she's stolen from, the thousands who have simped, the friends she's made. You know, I thought... I thought she'd be the last person you'd ever let get hurt. If it had been you she went down on, if she had blown you out of this world, I would've done nothing but search the planet for this hot pile of evil bat-worshiping cat and sent her a gift card for taco bell.
Bruce: You don't understand. I don't think you've ever understood.
Jason: What? What, your moral code just won't allow for that? It's too hard to cross that line?
Bruce: No! God almighty, no. It'd be too damned easy. All I've ever wanted to do is go down on her. But if I do that... if I allow myself to go down into that place... I'll never come back.
Jason: Why? I'm not talking about going down on Killer Frost, or Harley, or Ivy. I'm talking about her. Just her. And doing it because... because she took you away from me."

I mean
the statement that Bruce wouldn’t go down on Selina, in an R rated cartoon no less, because heroes don’t do oral and it would harm the toy sales just proves YET AGAIN that DC have NO fucking idea what they’re doing and we can’t take anything they say seriously
blood and gore and swearing? cool anything related to sex? HUGE NO NO
also you DO know that toys are for kids. kids who shouldn’t even be watching the harley quinn cartoon for obvious reasons
and adults buying your merch already know that bruce would do it
do you even know who your target audience is?! do you have any idea about anything, DC?!

Live Action heat 3: THOUGHTS
We’re down to a much more manageable top twelve, and so now, when it won’t take me literally all damned day, I can share with you any thoughts or advance knowledge I may have on the series. Feel free to use this to cast your votes, or don’t! I’m doing the winner either way.
---
-  Babysitter's Club (2020): I know -- or, I guess, I assume -- it’s based on the 80s-ish book series of the same name. Never read the series, so beyond what I assume is a club of babysitters, I have no ideas.
- Batman (the old Adam West version): I think we all KNOW about this. It came up as a wild card last year, and we had a pretty good time. (Link to previous liveblog)
- Black Mirror: Oh man, I fucking LOVE Black Mirror. I 10000% disagree with the reductionist take I see on this show a lot as all “TECHNOLOGY SCARY FIRE BAD”. It’s a look at extremes, it’s a cautionary tale, it’s an examination of how human nature can twist technology and technology can twist human nature, AND I’M SO INTO IT. (Previous Black Mirror liveblogs/essays, found here)
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Buffy is one of my life’s great loves. Or, used to be. As time has marched on, and Joss Whedon progressively gotten shittier, I find I can’t enjoy it as I once did, which sucks. (Previous Buffy liveblogs here)
- Clue (1985): This is not a good movie, but it IS one of my personal favourites. I had the whole thing memorized at one point, and while I’m not sure I could still go there, YOU PROBABLY WOULDN’T WANT TO TEST ME. For all that I love it though, it’s not exactly deep, and I’m a little dubious about the quality of a liveblog.
- Galavant: From wild card to blog staple, at least for a while there. Will I ever be over my absolute amazement that this show was ever allowed to exist? The blend of fantasy, comedy, and musical theater I never knew I wanted. (Previous Galavant liveblogs here)
- Good Omens: I read the book! I did not watch the series and felt no particular pull to change that.
- Harley Quinn movie: We watched this for a Patreon livestream, and I was deeply surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
- Knives Out: Another Patreon livestream. I had a great time, but not sure I’d have much of interest to say about it.
- PGSM: IT’S PGSM COME ON. I do have to laugh though that we’ve been doing between four and six PGSM liveblogs a month for the better part of this year, and still you guys are like “WHAT IF PGSM THOUGH??” (Previous PGSM liveblogs here)
- Sera Myu: Un Nouveau Voyage: This has been a crosspost from a private liveblog I did a bit ago, which I honestly just keep forgetting to continue to crosspost. IF IT’S WHAT YOU WANT THOUGH (Previous UNV liveblogs here)
- Supernatural (out of context speedrun the last three episodes): Oh I know ABOUT it. WE ALL KNOW ABOUT IT. I have never seen a single second of Supernatural outside of Tumblr gif form, to the best of my knowledge. USE THIS INFORMATION AS YOU WILL
- The Good Place: I watched and really loved the first season! The Chidi/Eleanor thing was a huge nope for me though, so much so that I didn’t watch beyond season two and am fine with that. (Previous The Good Place liveblogs here)
- Xena: Warrior Princess: Xena is one of my life’s OTHER great loves, and I am pretty much always ready to talk about it. A lot. (Previous Xena liveblogs)

Annon-Guy: How different would the original Symphonia's story go if Emil/Ratatosk, Marta and Richter were part of the group back than, helping them against the Desians and Mithos?
Honestly, this is a really hard thing to answer. They existed during the Symphonia timeline, they just didn't participate in the main story. So we honestly have every reason to believe not much if anything would have changed except with the possibility of Ratatosk since, well, no one knew where to look for him at that time and I don't imagine Aster speed running that discovery since the only reason they started looking was because the climate was weird when the planet came back together all jumbled. If they had somehow stumbled upon Ratatosk their own way, either we would have gotten a redemption speedrun because Lloyd and Colette have plot armor and would have been able to keep him under control or we would have gotten some, like, devastating calamity way earlier because someone "important" would have died. Or they would have had to invent another underappreciated redshirt like Aster to take the bullet. I think if we saw DotNW's cast in Symphonia, we likely would have gotten mostly side-character reference and not much else because I think trying to involve them would not only have made the DotNW we got impossible (i.e. Marta couldn't have a reason to hate Colette if she was there with Colette when the tree went rampant. She would know how and why it happened. Emil would have to be the Real Emil Castagnier and it would remove some of the suspense and mystery from DotNW because if the changed appearance didn't give it away the unjustified hatred for Lloyd would because in non-game material I think we got to see the real Emil's journal and he made one last entry when the Blood Purge began and he seemed really confused that Lloyd, a guy he knew as a hero, would be terrorizing town. If DotNW had followed Real Emil, I think he would have been more confused and sad than angry after the blood purge. It would be more "Why would Lloyd attack Palmacosta and kill my parents? That doesn't make sense for such a hero. What made him change, and why did he attack MY parents?" Since Ratatosk/Emil didn't know Lloyd the way the Real Emil did, he had no framework for what a hero Lloyd was before. He has no attachment to the heroic image of Lloyd. That's part of why DotNW's Emil is so easily able to just hate Lloyd. He's not conflicted. He only knows Lloyd as "The person who killed my parents but everyone treats as a hero." and not "Lloyd, the former hero, who for some reason went out of his way to kill my parents." Richter I can't see as having a role in Symphonia 1 given how the half-elves are still either running human ranches and making everyone terrified or subjugated and exploited basement scientists under the thumb of Sybak Research Academy. If Richter had any role at all, it would probably be something akin to Kate's role. Helping the party but ultimately being a side character of little note. Which honestly would rob from his presence in DotNW or at least not add to it. Most people's favorite character from Symphonia isn't Kate or Chocolat or even Marble, even though they all have roles to play. Most people barely remember Virginia Sage is alive because she's so easy to miss and forget about. So anyone who did remember Richter, would probably be like "This guy is the villain now? Why? Why does this dude get the spotlight, he didn't do anything in the last game." Aster would probably end up being the same way. I doubt Aster would leave Richter all alone to go galavanting around Sylvarant with the heroes. And if he did, honestly he'd probably just end up being another Colette since they have similar sunny personalities and I doubt Symphonia would be able to do much with him since he doesn't have any special battle skills that would look cool and doesn't fill a role that Sheena, Zelos, or Regal aren't already fulfilling. Marta could theoretically fit but like I said it would get in the way of her character motivation in DotNW. But I'm not sure what she has that's unique that she could contribute since Raine is already a healer and the Vanguard isn't a thing yet, so a lot of her insight that was helpful in DotNW doesn't exist
yet. As a whole, I think putting the DotNW cast in Symphonia wouldn't work all that well because, well, it's not their story. Similar to how the Symphonia cast doesn't add much to the DotNW story because, again, it's mostly not their story. Now that doesn't mean it wouldn't have been AWESOME to see them interract. Richter as a broody young man getting carted around with his best bud Aster because he and Aster somehow have some special knowlege of, like, the history of Kharlan or something? That could be fun, but that requires a whole new thing added to the main story. Marta getting to join up because she knows a lot about the ancient history of the Sylvarant Dynasty? That could be neat. Emil being brought into the fold because as a native of a fishing village he's just, like, ridiculously good at fishing? That would be awesome. But these are all things that wouldn't necessarily be integral to the main game. Lloyd is the hero. He's just always right by virtue of optimism and plot armor. He has to be there. His dad is a smith and his other dad is an angel, so both those connections also help. Colette is necessary because she's Lloyd's motivation. She's sympathetic and gives the player someone to want to save. Her luck and power as the chosen and an angel and a pure maiden are all benefits to the party. Raine is a healer, is smart, and has extensive knowledge of ruins and can work most of the tech in the game. Her memory of the otherworldly gate is useful and contextualizes a gameplay element for the player. Genis is a best friend support type, a magic user, a half-elf, and sympathetic to Marble and later to Mithos. He not only affirms Lloyd's belief that everyone is worth saving and keeps Lloyd grounded and motivated but he's also useful for understanding the motivations of the bad guys. Sheena is a summoner, and the summon spirits are very important to the story and saving the world, but she also represents the anxieties of Tethe'alla, worried about the end of their prosperity. Zelos has power he never asked for, a testament to the broken system of Chosens and their purpose. He has connections as a political and spiritual leader as he has connections to the King and to the Pope. Regal has monetary connections, knows what it means to sacrifice, is unbelievably strong, but honestly, he's probably the least special person in the group. Presea knows her way around charms, sneaks the party into places they have to get to even before she regains her senses, and is basically living proof of why Mithos's misguided attempt to create a race of lifeless beings is stupid. Kratos has connections to basically everything, even if he's a betrayer, and is ultimately the reason Lloyd is even able to pact with Origin which is one of the final keys in the game. I feel like you could work fishing master Emil, historian Richter, scientist Aster, and distant heir to a dead dynasty Marta in to Symphonia, but a lot of Symphonia was written around the specific characters it needed for the story. So not only do I think it robs them of their rightful places as centerpieces of their own stories in DotNW, but it's also just trying to cram too much extra into Symphonia. Aster, Richter, and Colette being friends would be great though. (And Rilena too, honestly.) I think their personalities would play off Richter nicely and just... 3 blonds all dragging a grumpy redhead around and he'll never admit he likes it even though he absolutely does is, like, very wholesome. Marta, Colette, and Presea just being animal nerd geeks would be great too. Emil I'm not sure on because DotNW Emil isn't real Emil and IDK enough about what real Emil likes to know who he'd be friends with. But Ratatosk getting a defaut support system and getting to actually confront Mithos? Holy hell. That would be a game, man. But I don't think it could happen since the only reason Aster went looking for Ratatosk was because of the messed up climate and I'm not sure if Ratatosk could even be awake with the planet separated. But boy howdy that would be interesting. So while I
don't think there is any one answer and while I don't think it's entirely possible to put the DotNW cast we know and love into Symphonia without changing a lot, it IS fun to think about. But I honestly think it would not only make the first game too crowded and messy but would take away some of how special it was to meet Richter, Emil, Ratatosk, Marta and the rest of the DotNW cast in DotNW. Besides, it sucked enough to see Genis have to struggle with fighting against a fellow half-elf. Imagine teen angst Richter having to do it too.

a somewhat comprehensive list of‏‏‎ ‎stellar‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎‎firma‏‏‎ ‎aus‏‏‎ ‎that are bouncing around up in my head, in honor of au april. these are somewhat listed in order of how invested i am in them, from least to most. yes, every character has roles in all of these because i’m really emotionally attached to them shhhhh
-beauty and the beast au: this isn’t even a real au it’s just this post. but i still think it’s hilarious.
-fake proposal au: a couple gets engaged at the astral‏‏‎ ‎bar and receives a round of drinks on the house.‏‏‎ ‎trexel‏‏‎ ‎gets an idea, and like most of his ideas, it’s bad. cue the world’s most elaborate fake proposal. there is an improvised song because it’s‏‏‎ ‎trexel, and fireworks somehow. something gets set on fire. but now trexel‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎cyril actually have to pretend to be engaged every time they go to the bar while keeping it a secret from‏‏‎ ‎hartro‏‏‎ ‎and david and basically everyone else, which is an extremely difficult task.
-ghost au: this is entirely because i thought “trexel‏‏‎ ‎poltergeistman” one time and decided i was the funniest person on planet earth. and david is slimy which translates into ectoplasm. they both died in the same house and now they’re stuck in there together. eventually cyril moves in and now they’re all living in there! together! imogen is a sentient computer virus or something and‏‏‎ ‎hartro‏‏‎ ‎is a ghost hunter tracking paranormal activity in the area. this one is very silly (a funny bonus idea i just thought of is if the other david clones were former inhabitants of the house that‏‏‎ ‎trexel‏‏‎ ‎drove out and our good boy number seven was just unlucky enough to actually die in there.)
-elemental au: based off of a throwaway gag in season 1. david can manipulate earth or maybe metal or maybe water but whatever it is clones aren’t actually supposed to be allowed to do it. he can because of the weird way he was programmed.‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎‎trexel‏‏‎ ‎is obviously pyrokinetic,‏‏‎ ‎hartro‏‏‎ ‎is aerokinetic, cyril is electrokinetic. not everyone has powers, the main gang just got lucky. (trexel‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎is the first‏‏‎ ‎geistman‏‏‎ ‎in generations to be born with anything so everybody is really excited and then really disappointed really fast.)
-galavant‏‏‎ ‎au: briefly mentioned here. this is really just a medieval fantasy au with a few stolen plot points but i started‏‏‎ ‎galavant‏‏‎ ‎and never finished it because i got bored of the immense amounts of heterosexuality so that’s still its title out of spite. and because “love is strange” would be an ideal cytrex song if it didn’t have a line about makeup which is bad for my dysphoria And my sensory issues. but i digress.‏‏‎ ‎trexel‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎comes from a family of knights and everyone’s expecting him to live up to that legacy but he never will because he is horrible. david is his long suffering squire who is probably human here but i could make them part mermaid or something because i like to give them gills. cyril is a runaway royal looking for someone to help them reclaim their kingdom from an evil monarch (who is probably‏‏‎ ‎hartro‏‏‎ ‎with imogen as her advisor). they’ve heard tell of the legendary feats of the‏‏‎ ‎geistman‏‏‎ ‎family, but are quickly disappointed to find out that its only heir kinda sucks. (well, the whole family sucks, but they don’t know that right off the bat.) so they’re stuck with those two morons but shhh they become besties in the end so it’s all okay
theater au: THEATER AU MY BELOVED...the only one of these that actually aligns with canon. this is also the way i want the show to end canonically, this version is just the one with cyril shoved in there. the main cast escapes their awful work environment, commandeers a stolen spaceship, and starts up a traveling theater production. they’re all confirmed to be genuinely happy doing creative work and the sense of community in a theater troupe is so warming to me that i’d feel like a dork describing it fully.‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎‎trexel‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎writes scripts and songs, and most of the time is the lead actor. david edits scripts, does graphic design, and makes sure everything’s running as it should (with acting appearances as needed).‏‏‎ ‎hartro‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎designs costumes, props and sets, and she’ll also appear on stage if the situation calls for it. imogen handles the tech and special effects, flies the ship, and does all the accounting. cyril is primarily stage crew and just fixes all the stuff that goes wrong, but yeah, whatever, secretly they really like acting, don’t tell anyone. they’ve also got like a billion old scripts from earth productions they could remaster (i want the gang to do little‏‏‎ ‎shop‏‏‎ ‎of‏‏‎ ‎horrors‏‏‎ ‎so bad if only to witness the insane fights over who’d play who.) basically every character makes appearances in this. the theater ship has a live in therapist because by god everyone on board fuckin needs one. basically they’re doing better and they’re pursuing their passions and they’re HAPPY and FULFILLED and. breaks down. anyway that’s the end of the post bc i gotta go think about this again.
