solace and jasico for the ship think im evil and shit
wrote this last month before I lost access from traveling here is everything I wrote then.
Solangelo
Why don’t you ship it? — I did ship it when I originally read BOO when I was in the seventh grade, because I wanted Nico to be happy and Will was presented as something that would help that. Then I remember liking them a bit less when I first read THO when it came out, not to the extent of hate or anything (and I wouldn’t call it a solid notp or anything now I’m just not particularly fond of it at this time) just found the timeline of them getting together to be rushed and I didn’t love their interactions (not going to speak on what exactly I felt about them because first time reading THO was a blur for me, my feelings on reread are more important to this matter anyway). In the time between then and my reread of the first two series + continuation of ToA this year I was mostly fine with them in theory, but occasionally was a little annoyed by how overrated the dynamic and Will as a character seemed to me from what I could see as I’m always very multifandom and keep pjo fandom on my radar as one of my formatives but was mainly focusing my energy on other media during that time.
When rereading Boo and THO I found their dynamic.. not very appealing in the scenes we get. I can like vitriolic banter when it’s done well but the way it was introduced for Will and Nico in boo came off more as Will being pretty bossy/condescending towards Nico and Nico reacting to that with annoyance + some of his usual becomes-attached-to-anyone-who-shows-any-signs-of-potentially-wanting-him-around thing which is IC for him, but it’s not an introduction I appreciate for one of my favorite chars ever’s endgame canon romance. Other people have made longer posts about this + the general solangelo canon dynamics and implications re: ableism but Will’s dismissiveness toward Nico’s feelings of being ostracized from the camp wasn’t endearing to me either. THO followed the same pattern of their ‘banter’ falling flat for me and reading more as two people kind of disliking each other and not in a fun interesting way like I sometimes go for, and to be fair I think the fact we first see them as an official couple from Apollo’s pov might contribute to this for me, because we don’t have Nico or Will’s narration to make the dynamic feel more lived in and Rick just generally isn’t great at writing couple dialogue for anyone but Percabeth/Fierrochase (and even Percabeth had some dud scenes aka. the Percabeth scenes in boo that are from Piper’s pov so.) And again, I just don’t like the condescension from Will’s end or how pushy he can be about Nico’s boundaries in some scenes. ToN was slightly better in that I think as a duo they were incorporated naturally into a plot (also was just so happy about the Nico and Rachel interactions I was like the the Solangelo here is fine it can be there too hebrew). However two books where I disliked the dynamic + a book where I was neutral + what I’ve seen of the fandom which.. yeah. Ultimately I just don’t enjoy them as a ship at
this time
2.What would have made you like it?
This is an interesting question for this ship in particular because there actually is a book coming out that if things go a certain way could make me like the ship.
I’ll start with changes that could have been made
to what’s already canon. This particular brand of grumpy one sunshine one dynamic is an idea/trope that I just have found less compelling the more time I’ve spent in fandom, so I would play up a subversion of that to start. There is something to Will being a bit more stubborn/intense than you’d expect I just wish that wasn’t presented in him bossing Nico around/telling him His perceptions of Nico’s problems like they’re fact, generally being very I-know-what’s-best-for-you. Maybe if their introduction in boo had them clashing over just different approaches to the battle at hand but not being able to help admire each other even though they’re so different, and then I think setting up them getting together as a slow burn over the course of ToA could’ve worked nicely and the antagonistically working together dynamic could’ve come off far better if they were written as two friends not yet together but with some tension kind of dancing around their actual feelings. Some scenes I had problems with also could’ve been better to me if this was the current dynamic ex: I really didn’t like the scene where Will comments about the kid from the Ares cabins arms and they again ‘banter’ but with what we know of Nico’s insecurities/abandonment issues it comes off (to me) as a scene where he’s genuinely stressed and Will either isn’t cognizant of that or is ignoring it which seems off for a couple who are together / annoys me on Nico’s behalf, but if it were a scene where they weren’t actually together yet it could
make sense as Will testing to see how Nico reacts/if he likes him based on his reaction and I’d feel better about it. Things like that. And Rick clearly knew how to write this type of bickering dynamic in slow burn for Percabeth so I think maybe this could’ve turned out a lot better.
Where we are in their story how I could be made to change my tune about their dynamic in TSATS:  will say I’d be a lot more optimistic about the book being able to make me like them if the premise was different, the fact that it’s (at least being pitched this way the actual book could obviously be pretty different) about Tartarus testing the strength of their relationship when we haven’t gotten a first hand experience of that relationship and it’s strengths and flaws other than what can be gleaned from conjecture (which ultimately is why views on the ship are so polarizing, they’re underwritten in canon so readers can interpret things a lot of ways depending on what’s there + how generous or not they are with it). That aside I think since for me the dynamic was a little better in ToN than it had been in the past framing some of their previous interactions as a beginning stage of their relationship they’ve since grown from and in the present Will is supportive in a way that’s less.. overbearing from my pov + we see both of them work for a good relationship (and the things Nico has to work on aren’t framed as ‘it’s Nico’s fault he doesn’t have that many good relationship ‘he needs to work on his people skills’ etc.) I could like it more. I also think seeing Will interact with more important parts of Nico’s life like Hazel or his father or Reyna could help add interesting interactions and conflicts. Another thing I disliked about ToA was how distanced Nico seemed from Hazel and Reyna / it seeming like he didn’t meet them after the war… *sigh* keeping myself from going on a tangent anyway. Ideally I would like the book to make their relationship interesting and compelling, I need it to show me how they work/are a good fit as partners and mainly make me feel good about Will’s place in Nico’s arc. Hopefully I get shippy feelings / emotional attachment from them in the book (I’m keeping my expectations low a) because I like to purposefully keep my expectations low for certain things so I’m not disappointed a habit I developed shortly after BOO was released lol, if it’s fantastic my low expectations can only lead me being more blown away so win-win b)like I said it isn’t a type of dynamic I’m very into these days even if tje execution is made to work now) but what matters most is that I feel good enough about it as a part of Nico’s arc since I don’t even concretely feel that way now. No Will-is-Nico’s-savior/solves all his problems trope. Hopefully no “doctors orders” bit either
3.Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
I am here for the implication that Will has had a crush on Nico for a while before Nico noticed him, I think in a way it’s good for Nico to experience someone not needing to warm to him to see him as worthy of being into and just wanting him in general at the time he meets Will. If the relationship was presented as just Nico seeing what being in a relationship where he’s someone else’s Percy in a sense is like and not his canon-sanctioned endgame like it’s meant to be I’d be a lot less critical of it.
Not necessarily something positive more negative things that I’ve seen said about the ship that I disagree with: 1) It’s not an abusive relationship based on anything in canon 2) I’ve seen people say it’s ooc for Nico to be into Will/want to start a relationship with him so soon and that’s not my issue with anything, again it’s very Nico to latch onto attachments I just haven’t seen any evidence this relationship is good for him
Jasico
What made you ship it?
I remember when I first read HoH and Boo there were scenes where I thought they had interesting chemistry/found something of interest in the idea but back then as a kid I really hated Jason so ultimately still didn’t want it to happen/invest more interest in it On reread I really started to become actively interested in it / feel things in the Jason pov section directly after the (ugh) Cupid scene section. The scene where they have that balcony argument / tense conversation about belonging/fitting in where Nico voices how Jason has never been unfairly reviled because of who his father is only idolized for it vs later when Jason reflects on this and actually envies Nico’s freedom of expectations as much as Nico envies the respect Jason gets, the more I’ve thought about it the more the ideas behind their arcs are interesting foils to one another which is something that automatically does a lot to appeal a ship to me. And generally this establishes something that really appealed to me which was Nico opening up more to Jason than he does to others and Jason being a lot more expressive/engaged in around or about Nico. Then after that the chalice scene is just.. really romantically coded like more than most scenes in hoo that are actually supposed to be romantic by a lot, and I’m a sucker for a display of trust that’s literally quite deranged (drinking poison because you want to be Very Good Friends with another man) in my ships too, so from there on I was gone and the more I actually thought about it the more reasons I found to be compelled but I’ll get into that more in part 2. Also Generally the way they describe each other at points in HoH and Boo is insane which is also worth mentioning.
2.What are your favorite things about the ship? The dynamic appeals to a lot of tropes or ideas/narrative markers I go for in ships in general, what I said about narrative foils is a huge draw for me so is characters going from disliking each other to comrades/allies to establishing more trust to friends, prep x goth ship. I love the care present in how they think of/worry about each other throughout boo, also easy to read yearning vibes into it especially from Jason’s side in pov. Honestly the fact that they’re both repressed as fuck but different ways is so fun to me because soo much potential for pining and slow burn and angst/insecurity all of my fav things lol and now that I’ve started reading some fics really respect how much writers go all in for these things w the pairing. As an opposites attract pairing there’s a lot I love about the idea of two people who are othered in different ways in seemingly opposite ways like Nico has been ostracized and underestimated and felt excluded or undervalued in relationships while Jason tends to be a put on a pedestal for who his dad is and being idolized in relationships can also be stifling/harmful, so there’s something very compelling about that idea combined with certain other parallels like they both have sisterly abandonment issues etc. for similar circumstances. I think a lot of Jason’s dynamics are hard for me to fully connect with and in general his POV is hard to connect with because he’s so passive in most dynamics/storylines, but the way he is about Nico post challice is very overexcited golden retriever energy, like very much the vibe of being oh so flattered that the cool mysterious boy has given the vaguest indication of ‘okay we can be friends I guess’ and then he’s just so over-the-top enthusiastic about Nico after that it’s so very funny, and I also do think it’s interesting to think about why that reaction exists. I said this before but I do like that Jason has to put in a bit of work for the relationship (specifying ‘a bit’ because the Cupid scene as a conduit for them to interact is lazy has a lot of issues (I was more willing to gloss over how that starts the dynamic on reread because on reread of this series in general I think most dynamics that weren’t pre-existing before the series or the Nico and Hazel/Reyna dynamics were jump started in lazy ways because Rick didn’t want to put thought into how they’d get to know each other, so it’s not a roadblock to me liking the ship like it probably was on first read, I see it as a featurebug of how the series was written rather than specific to the dynamic ) and Jason’s reaction was the bare minimum (but still would be important to Nico I think both things are true) so the ‘work’ I mean is mostly not giving up on reaching Nico afterwards) while Nico gets to be on the receiving end of support it’s not the role either of them usually take in a dynamic/storyline so I think it’s an interesting place for both characters. I think Nico would really benefit from being with someone that level of adoring and devoted to him who doesn’t overstep his boundaries (the bar is very low but I did also really like the difference between HoH where Nico snaps at Jason not to touch him without permission vs Boo where Jason really wants to hug Nico but holds himself back until Nico acquiesces verbally (and even being bare minimum I do feel a lot better about it compared to Will always telling Nico what to do grabbing his hand without permission etc. so lmao on that front) and getting to be the person who makes a very stoic buttoned-up person Worse/less sane, I just love how powerful he would feel thanks to making the golden boy worse lol. I think Jason symbolically sort of represents a lot of things Nico has always wanted, so I love the potential fulfillment for Nico’s narrative through this and like the validation of it
. I also think the relationship from a story pov would have a lot of interesting ramifications for plot for being two big three kids and relationships with other characters like Reyna Hazel Percy Thalia Leo Piper etc. so I love thinking about that, and I think Nico would more naturally be involved in these dynamics if he was with Jason one of my gripes about canon rn is how Will is prioritized in ToA for Nico over all other relationships for no reason :/. Also the idea of Reyna shovel talking Jason is iconic. Really like I said I think on every level the more I think about it the more it makes sense and the more into it I am.
3.Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?we’ll just say that technically preferring Jasico to Solangelo is unpopular already. I do also think though that it being more interesting to me is partially just about Rick’s writing and how he tends to write relationships intended to be platonic as more interesting and having more chemistry than his romances that aren’t Percabeth and Fierrochase, and especially true for hoo pairings for instance the way Pipabeth or Pipeyna are developed as opposed to Jiper, Leo’s relationships with Jason or Frank as opposed to Calypso and Hazel etc. I do think that’s just a common feature in the way he writes dynamics.
Um. But also I felt much more passionate about all of this last month. I still stand by everything but after reading the tsats snippet in SoH that I read I’m kind of abandoning any of the optimism I had about it.

I can see Max being son of Ares or Zeus and I’m even more into the Zeus idea. Idk why really but I get that vibe from him.
Oscar could be son of Athena for me. He’s level headed and calm, knows his facts and has this unique humour that not everyone understands. Also I feel like people underestimate him with his mind and all so I’d say it fits the Athena children vibe. Or Hades actually. I could see that too because of his calmness and strength but it’s not as fitting for me as Athena.
Lando is a son of Poseidon to me. He’s super chaotic, does some stupid shit but mostly comes out unscathed, is everywhere and nowhere at the same time, also the humour just fits for me. This is more of a resemblance to Percy but I think both of them think of themselves like a goofballs and not so smart but caring and people around them think they are actually quite scary (like Percy when he’s fighting and Lando on track??? Idk if it makes sense in general but it does to me and delulu is my solulu)
Charles as son of Apollo is so good for me i don’t even remember what I had in mind for him really haha
Carlos as son of Area. Just fits for me
max is soooo a son of zues and theres no doubt in my mind he can fly and takes his gf on flights alll the time esp at night. he’d fly them up to the highest point they could get to stargaze. he’d also love to shock his girl, like little shocks of static electricity every time they hold hands or he places his hand on her back or waist. he’d find a way to send currents of electricity to her, like tapping on the dinner table and she suddenly feels a light tingling n knows her bf is watching her. or she picks up her fork and it shocks her a little. idk how electricity works but in my head bc he’s half god he can do whatever he wants w lightning. can so see it storming over him when he gets angry and gf is standing next to him w an umbrella. it’d be so funny.
i think oscar is athena or hades too! i was gonna say that but i wasn’t sure if anyone else had other ideas. i think he’s very smart already but as a son of athena he would by far be the smartest at camp and seek out all kinds of knowledge everywhere. he’s always got his face shoved in a book on fight strategies or is reading an encyclopedia to expand his knowledge. knows multiple languages and is always correcting people on random things, gently and not condescending, just like, ‘hey actually- let me correct you!” and people are kind of annoyed by the boy genius but also endeared by the random facts he’s always spouting.
i can so see him as a son of hades, still really nice but gloomy or kinda melancholic and stuff. he’s so kind and careful with everyone around him and scared of hurting anyone, knows he’s very powerful and doesn’t want people to fear him for it, or dislike him more than they already do. he grows up all alone like nico and bianca do in the percy jackson series, can you imagine him living in the lotus casino his whole life then being brought out? can imagine him with the bubbliest girl at camp, a child of demeter or something who brings life everywhere she goes. like there’s a trail of daisies following her everywhere she goes. her and oscar go on picnics and she grows fresh fruits for them to snack on, picking berries from vines and feeding them directly to him. he’s never tasted something as good as the fresh strawberries she presses to his lips. when he eats ambrosia, he tastes a mix of fresh strawberries and her kisses.
lando is so a son of poseidon u got it spot on!!! agree w everything you said. genuinely spends 90% of his free time swimming and he loves taking his gf into the ocean and showing her around the underwater cities. also sneaking away to makeout under the lake because he can breathe underwater, and other things, and it certainly impresses his partners when he shows them how long he can hold his breath.

matchup for xio / 🫠 anon
loading your match! ପ( •̤ᴗ•̤ )੭ु⁾⁾.。.:✽・゚+
your match is…
VERGIL!
Tumblr media
As soon as you gave me free reign and I read a bit of your description, I put you two together immediately. (So happy that I get to write some DMC, it’s my all time fav 🤞)
Vergil is someone with a hard shell that takes a long time to crack. He’s not easily trusting and he’s very picky with his company. Thanks to your initially quiet nature, though, he takes a chance on you; he’s drawn to your mystery and you don’t overwhelm him in the way that some others might do.
Then you start to open up slowly. It’s as though your personality blossoms. Funnily enough, this is the point where he starts to see you as more than a friend. Getting to know you is steady and sweet, plus he finds your happier, more easy-going side to be endearing. Once you come out of your shell, it’s easier than you think to get him out of his. You might assume someone like Vergil would be annoyed by any sort of loud nature, but he’s already attached to you by this point, and he doesn’t find you obnoxious like some people he knows… Ahem, Dante. He finds himself missing your jokes more than anything when you aren’t around. You make his life so much less dull, it’s like night and day.
You won’t get to know that for a long while though. He pushes it out as much as he can until he cannot deny his feelings anymore, and then he goes through the phase of consciously hiding them from you. He might even avoid you until he realises that this could actually upset you, and that’s not what he wants at all. It’s hard to say who would confess first, but someone has to make the move eventually.
Speaking of Dante, you two very quickly become friends, down to that very same sense of humour. Dante will try and befriend anyone, in all fairness, but with you two it definitely sticks. He probably makes fun of Vergil when he’s not in the room, or he’ll tell you some embarrassing story about him from when they were kids. Oh, sibling love, what a thing.
You’d also get on with Nico and Kyrie! It might be a while before you cross paths, but those two will be your girls through thick and thin when they do. A friend of any of the Spardas is a friend of theirs. Girls day out? You betcha. Kyrie will back it up with the idea that Nero and Vergil need to get closer after so much time apart, just so you guys can all hang out more often.
Vergil isn’t afraid of confrontation. He much prefers to avoid it when unnecessary, not wanting to argue pathetically with people like children, but in much of his journey through life, it has simply been a need. Like a chore one has to get on with. Defending you isn’t a bother at all, though. It’s more this idea that because he’s grown so used to doing this by now, it’s a sixth sense. He will not let anyone do you any wrong. Many people are too intimidated by him to attempt it in the first place. If you so decide you can handle yourself though, he’ll step back as you wish.
Unfortunately, he’s not good at dealing with emotions. When it comes to his own, he blocks them out altogether, or tries to overcome them by physical means- aka, a fight. He’s spent his life searching for power in order to forget what it’s like to feel weak. He’ll still stay by your side though, for as long as you need him. Just tell him if you need anything at all, he’ll do his very best to oblige.
Vergil would absolutely love to see your photography and would share your passion for certain music genres. Vergil has an eye for some art forms- especially poetry, which has been a passion of his from a young age. It heals the emotional damage he’s got shoved down in his soul somewhere. There’s a reason why V was so reliant on it when Vergil split into two forms. It captures his feelings; his human side. He’d love to share that with you once he feels comfortable
Your colour scheme literally matches. Dante will probably call you both emo to make fun of you, but he means no harm. If anything, he’s the emo- haven’t you heard the music he listens to? Um, hello?
He appreciates that you can balance logic and feeling. Vergil often acts on impulse when emotions are high, despite his highly analytical nature. He tries to take note from you to not rush into things so much.
Vergil is also not too experienced in the department of relationships, so you don’t have to worry about that. You both just take things as they come, without feeling pressured to behave or move forward in a certain nature
Lastly, Vergil will be extremely loyal and devoted. He doesn’t give his heart to just anyone, so although it may take some time to earn, it’s a very worthy prize.
I hope you enjoyed this matchup! :D It came to me very naturally, super fun to write !!

Help! I really want more YohaRiko actually, and NicoMaki. But. It’s almost the end of December and—
Either way, I hope you enjoy! XD
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So~ I’ll be back before you can say three cups of a vanilla milkshake and I have the Universe’s No.1 Girlfriend, Makki~” Nico adds a wink to her huge, proud smile.
Maki gives her classic disinterested look; to the untrained eyes she was not amused by the black haired girl’s flirtation but to Nico, she caught the slight twitch of Maki’s gorgeous lips. A smile the redhead was clearly trying to hold back.
“Ready to go?” Nico patiently waits for her “get the drinks” companion.
Yoshiko nods in a hurry. “No preferences?” She asks for the fifth time now.
Riko chuckles, a hand over her mouth. “No preference, Yocchan. Just get me what you think I’d like.”
Yoshiko strikes up her Fallen Angel pose; confidence overflowing now. “Sit tight my little demon. I won’t be long.” The bluenette throws a wink in too; partly because she thinks it’s cool, partly because she thought what Nico did was cool too.
Riko smiles gently, hoping her blush doesn’t show. “Be careful not to spill the drink.”
Yohane walks off with Nico, scoffing at the idea of her spilling the drinks, though she was internally praying she doesn’t.
Once Nico and Yoshiko was out of earshot, Maki lets out a loud sigh. The first year in university was feeling rather exasperated from Nico’s relentless, annoying (read endearing) flirting since the beginning of this double date.
Maki knew. Of course, she does. That Nico’s pride as the oldest in the group here is causing this. But it can still be annoying. Maki glances over to Nico; back facing her and talking to Yoshiko. “I'm in love with an idiot and sometimes I just...want to put her in a conical flask to keep her quiet.”
Riko sweatdrops; wondering why a conical flask. “I see...”
Maki lets out another sigh as she holds the stare at her girlfriend before staring at her hands. “Or...use a bit of magic and have Nico turn smaller. Cute.”
Riko blinks a few times at what her senior muttered. “Magic?”
Maki simply waves it off then smiles at Riko, her violet eyes twinkling with intent. “Tell me about her.”
“What?” Riko is taken by surprise again.
“Her.” Maki points towards the drink bar.
Riko’s cheeks turn pinkish as she gazed at the back of her girlfriend who was mixing way too many drinks together in a cup.
Maki rolls her eyes, smiling as she too stared at the scene. “Nico-chan should know to stop Yoshiko from doing that.”
Riko nods slowly, distracted. “Yeah...”
Maki turns back, observing Riko. Taking note of how Riko answers gently and still couldn't peel her eyes away from the second-year bluenette. Maki's lips curves up once more. “But I guess you wouldn't mind drinking that.”
“Yeah...” Riko answers without thinking before it finally registered in her mind. “Ah, I, I mean...”
Maki chuckles which makes Riko more embarrassed than she already is.
“Don't worry.”
“Don't worry..?”
“I won't tell.” Maki winks.
And Riko wonders if she should worry more or trust that the older pianist wasn't someone who would tease and tell on her. But then again...Riko wouldn't mind having someone's help in letting Yoshiko know how much she loves her.
Riko having her internal turmoil was looking anywhere but Maki and kept turning her head from side to side. Leaving a rather awkward silence to hang after what Maki thought was a well-executed tease that can carry on the conversation.
Maki fiddles with her finger for a time before clearing her throat once. “I’m not…good with being the one to continue conversations…”
Riko blinks out of her thoughts. “Oh. I’m sorry, I-”
“So.” Maki cuts Riko off with a teasing smile. “You should answer my question.”
Riko opens her mouth then closes it again. Opens her mouth again and… “What do you want to know..?”
Maki cocks her head to the side. “Hm. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love her?”
“10!” Riko was quick to answer. “No wait, 11. Can I choose 11?”
Maki couldn’t help but grin at Riko’s answers. “List 3 things you like about her. Rapid fire too, if you please.”
“Why-”
“Because you wouldn’t want to make Yoshiko spill her drinks from hearing your answers right?” Maki nods towards the general direction where their girlfriends should be almost done with getting drinks for four.
Riko looks over and nods. “O-Okay…I, I like how kind she is, attentive she is, wonderful she is…” Riko looks over again, dazed for a moment from just a day to day scene of Yoshiko holding two cups in her hand and walking. “And how she’s a dork but I love her for that. She needs to be herself more. Unabashedly. My fallen angel…”
Maki claps once to get Riko out of her reverie. Just in time as Yoshiko and Nico returns with the drinks.
“I’m back, darling, did you miss me~?” Nico places the drinks down without a clank or drip and joins Maki in the seats, scooting close and batting her cute eyelashes at the pianist.
Maki huffs out her nose and leans into Nico’s ears to whisper. “Missed you so~ much, darling.”
Nico’s ears go beet-red and she whips her head back to the front to safe herself from getting a meltdown thanks to how hot that whisper in her ear was. “Great! Good! Enjoy the drinks while we wait for the food, shall we?”
Maki smirks as she makes eye contact with Riko. “I like your answers by the way.”
“Ah…T-Thank you… I just said what came to mind…” Riko stirs the ice around in her nervousness.
Nico and Yoshiko being out of the loop kept looking back and forth the pianists. “What answers?”
“What was the question we missed?”
Maki shakes her head. “Oh, nothing.”
“It definitely wasn’t!” Nico pouts.
Yoshiko nods in agreement. “It’s a double date. We should know each other’s conversations!”
Riko stirs her drinks harder, her blush hard to hide. “I-It really wasn’t anything important really…Just…”
“Ehhhhh~~” Yoshiko pouts at Riko.
Nico trying her best to win answers out of Maki with her best pout too.
But alas, the two pianists were very capable in keeping their little conversation to themselves.

Hey! If its okay and if you dont mind. Could I also get a match up? What im like: Im an artist who loves to draw and do water color paints! Im really good at drawing people and anatomy. At first im very quite and shy, im a really good listener. Im abit self awear that im not the sharpest tool in the shed but I love to learn and want to learn. Once people get to know me I tend to be bubbily and really nice to others. I do have some social anxiety and I dont wany to annoy others. I care alot too.
[ - CURRENTLY CLOSED - ] Your match has been made! You’ve swiped…
Tumblr media
Donquixote Rosinante, or better known as; Corazon! This adorable ball of sunshine (and cigarette smoke!) would be a wonderful partner who’d absolutely dote on you as a person - not to mention take your interests to his heart as well! Bearing the Calm-Calm Devil Fruit, it’s a match made in heaven as he’d delight in watching you paint away an expression of utmost pleasure on his face, the man happily keeping things quiet if you need silence to be able to concentrate. In the meantime, he’d admire the curve of your brush as you work your magic across the awaiting canvas. Watercolours is an art aesthetic he especially likes, with Rosinante loving how soft and colourful your work turns out. The fact that you’re so good at drawing people and anatomy is something he’s impressed by! It’s not an easy concept to do; the human body is a wonderful and complex thing with so many varities out there, and Rosinante would marvel as you capture the likeness of people in various positions. He’s not bold enough to ask you to draw him, but he’d probably die of happiness if you could capture the real him; he hated his navy profile and how he wasn’t allowed to smile in it!You being shy and quiet is absolutely fine with this fine! Having to feign muteness and listen so much to others, it makes for a nice change when somebody else is quiet for a change, not that he doesn’t enjoy speaking with you! And he certainly wouldn’t judge you for not being the sharpest tool in the box; look at him and how clumsy he can be sometimes! Just being willing to learn is what seperates the truly foolish from those who can do better, and Rosinante would be there for you every step of the way, loving you for the kind person you are and of your true bubbly personality within. You could never annoy this man, and social anxiety is a thing he understands all too well due to his traumatic past. Whenever you feel apprehensive or threatened, Rosinante would draw you close and drape his dark-feathered coat over your body, dulling the noise around you to absolute silence before leading you away to a place to settle down comfortably. It goes without saying that this man would be your ideal match and he’d always want you to shine like the star he sees within you!People also interested in you: Sabo! He is a man who thrives on the kindness of others and that it’s a necessary trait for bringing new change to this cruel world! Nico Robin if you aren’t opposed to a female friend… or partner; she’d love your more innocent personality and artistic talent, understanding your social anxiety well. Bellamy the Hyena, a brute of a man who’d actually come to find your personality quite endearing and would protect you, albeit a lot more fiercely than Rosinante! Finally would be Law, who’d enjoy your quiet side and ability to paint humans and anatomy so well. He might even consider asking you for a few portraits so he can study anatomy better himself!

Grey's Anatomy: Girlfriend in a Coma (15x12)
Aww man! I got pretty emotional...
Cons:
Maybe it's just because we haven't seen much of the story on Grey's, but I didn't feel all that invested when Ben and Bailey made amends. I mean, I'm happy for them in a vague sort of way, but I didn't feel all warm and fuzzy when Ben made Bailey a tree house.
This is a nitpick, but there was this weird moment when DeLuca asked where Meredith was at Jo and Alex's New Year's party, and he seemed annoyed that she wasn't there, but then right after that Alex said it was time to do the countdown. So... the party started right before midnight? That was just a bit clumsy and should have been an easy fix.
Meredith and DeLuca are pretty great and I'm actually all here for it, except for one thing: Meredith was pretty awful to Link. Earlier in the episode DeLuca was pissed at Meredith - rightfully so - for standing him up. We're meant to read that as poor behavior on Mer's part. And then as the episode ends, she does the exact same thing to Link! That sucked. She should have called him.
Pros:
First of all, I liked the way this episode jumped through time, taking us from before Christmas to Valentine's Day. That was a fun way to bridge some gaps and escalate some plots more quickly.
Okay. Garrett and Natasha were just heartbreaking. Honestly I was so upset. I kept waiting for a miracle that would fix everything in the end, but... nope. Just more sadness. I wasn't expecting to get all emotional, but I totally did. The moment that really got me wasn't the turning back time, or the wedding under the stars. It was when Garrett said "thank you for marrying me." That just made me so emotional. And the fact that Natasha couldn't talk in her final moments... ouch. Just gutting.
Everyone knows I'm not the biggest fan of Catherine Fox, but I was a bit moved by her struggles during her recovery, and the way that she lashed out, but then acknowledged to Richard that she knew she was being difficult. I also liked Maggie using her experience with her mom to empathize with Jackson, instead of making it all about her own feelings. That part where they were discussing the physical symptoms of their grief was really moving.
Umm... Betty's not Betty? I'll admit I really didn't see that coming. I liked Owen's honesty with Amelia. He needs to sort this out, he needs to know if Betty's parents are going to come and take baby Leo away, and he needs to know quickly, because Leo has become his son, and he needs to know if he's going to lose him. Amelia and Owen's plot with Leo and Betty has never been my favorite, but this added twist really elevates things for me, and I'm curious about what's going to happen.
We checked in briefly with various couples without delving too much into their lives. I loved Jo being so excited to host a New Year's Eve party, and her and Alex wearing those silly glasses, and kissing each other and calling each other "Dr. Karev." That was extra-strength adorable and I'm all about it. Also, Nico and Levi seem to have gotten closer. Levi makes a comment about how he'll come for Christmas with Nico's family "next year," so clearly they're getting to a more serious point in their relationship. Also, Levi coming out to everyone in the OR was hilarious. It was so awkward yet so perfect and funny and sweet. Everyone seemed genuinely happy for him, and you really can see how he's grown in confidence. We also see Teddy and Koracick go out for pedicures. This was actually really sweet, and endeared me even more to Koracick. He's dating a pregnant woman, sort of, but he's not pushing anything to go too far, and he's catering to her specific needs re: foot pain. Adorable.
Meredith and Andrew... sigh... they set my heart all aflutter. I'm very pleased that Meredith is getting back out there, and even though she owes Link a big ol' apology, I think ultimately she's choosing the right guy. It's odd to think of Meredith with a serious romantic prospect. Do we think that this is something that's going to continue into the next several seasons of this never-ending show? I kind of hope so. I like the romances on this show, the ones that get me really invested and feel real. I loved Meredith and Derek. I loved Callie and Arizona. I love Alex and Jo. Sometimes it takes me a while to hop on board with a new ship. For Meredith and Andrew, I'm so here for the ride.
So, yeah! This was good. It made me tear up during the stuff with Natasha and Garrett, and I liked the way we pushed through a lot of time and things are moving forward at quite the clip. I'm ready for what's next!

Trick or Treat - Part 2
"Let me get this straight…you want us to go trick or treating?" He demanded, crossing his long, tattooed arms over his chest in indignation.
He was met by an enthusiastic nod from Chopper and Luffy and found it hard to judge which of the two was more excited about the whole deal,
"You do realize we're in our early thirties, right?" the Spaniard grunted, sending Sanji, whom till that day he'd seen as sane, a bewildered look.
"Thirties doesn't mean eighties, Law" the chef reasoned, a smirk over his face.
Trafalgar eyed him suspiciously, the gears in his head turning. He knew it! Of course the damn ero-cook had fallen for that Zoro guy! And now apparently, out of nowhere he was ready to play dress up and act as a parent.
The realization almost made him laugh – a mere month ago the French wouldn't shut up about how straight he was and yet here he was, acting like a damn mother to the kid of another man. It suited him though.
He'd never seen Sanji quite so relaxed, so happy. That on its own made the dark thoughts in Law's mind hush and it nudged him to give a chance to Luffy and his best friend.
"Quit being such a prude," the green haired man reasoned, leaning in against the doorframe.
Trafalgar shot him a surprise look, ready to respond but then he felt a warm hand over his own. The contact alone sent something like electricity through him and he stared at Luffy's tan fingers, the way they contrasted against the black ink of his tattoos.
"Come on, Torao, I know deep down you're not boring!"
The surgeon flinched at the word, the way Luffy had said it…it sounded as though being boring was the worst thing in the world.
He glared at the younger man, their eyes colliding. Luffy's eye colour was an endearing dark brown, full of kindness and optimism. Law couldn't help the tiny smile that spread to his lips – the other seemed to have some weird effect over people, as though spilling his own happiness onto them.
"I don't have a costume," he reasoned to which he was met by a smirk on Sanji's part.
"How about you use your scrubs?"
Law was mortified for one long moment, he was pretty sure it was kind of illegal or at least morally wrong to wear his scrubs outside the premises of a hospital.
And yet…he knew the four wouldn't let him go until he was out, celebrating that damn holiday with them and probably looking like a moron while at it.
In the end he sighed, sending Luffy a bemused glare,
"You win this round, Mugiwara,"
 xxx
They went on to explore the town, in search of treats.
Chopper roamed ahead happily, ringing on doorbells and collecting candy. Acting like a normal six year old as Trafalgar mused. Truth to be told, the kid was growing on him, he was fascinated with his innate talent for medicine and the childish curiosity behind those grey eyes.
Sanji and Zoro appeared to argue about one thing or another but their voices were light and carefree and it made him smirk – he could tell his best friend was starting to fall for the guy and-
"So…Torao,"
It was Luffy's voice that cut him away from his thoughts,
"Don't call me that," Law argued, sending the shorter man a poignant glare to which he remained oblivious.
Luffy plastered on a big smile which he struggled not to call cute,
"But your name is just too long," he complained,
Trafalgar huffed,
"That or you're just not the brightest bloke around,"
The brunette grinned at him, completely unfazed by the remark. It made a smirk make its way onto Law's lips – he could appreciate someone having thicker skin. People got offended too easily these days. Luffy's sense of humour, how easygoing he was different, something surprising but fresh – like dipping your toes in the pool the first time after a harsh winter.
"So…this is our first date, right?"
The Spaniard stopped in his tracks, taken aback by how straightforward the other could be. He searched for traces of ill intentions on his face, the task proving to be a little difficult in the dim street lighting.
He found none, Luffy appeared to be the epitome of honesty and optimism, all garnered with the desire to have a good time and take others along for the ride.
It was something rare, almost precious which Law had hardly seen during his lifetime. It made something awaken deep inside him, something he'd thought long dead.
 Hope.
"Hell, why not," he replied, words flying out of his mouth before he could stop himself.
The result was imminent, Luffy's lips stretched into the brightest smile he's ever encounter.
"Great!" he declared, dark eyes now sparkling with joy.
Law was taken aback as he felt a warm hand wrap around his own, this time it was legit handholding. Skinny fingers locked against the space between his own tattooed ones.
He stared at their intertwines fingers, bewildered. Luffy, as per usual didn't seem to notice.
Who held hands on a first date in the 21st century anyway?
"We'll have such a great time!" the brunette urged, voice high and enthusiastic as it soared towards the night sky.
Trafalgar grunted, caught between the joy that seemed to pour out of Luffy and his own rigid nature, his unwillingness to let people in. Generally when he did they got hurt. Or worse.
"Come on, let's go trick or treating in that house!" the brunette shouted, dragging him along in the direction of some poor stranger's house.
Law attempted to protest but all words died on his lips, something told him once Luffy set his mind on something there was no running away from it.
 xxx
"Your son appears to be very smart," a woman with long, slick black hair claimed, stretching out a hand to ruffle Chopper's hair.
The boy blushed madly but smiled at her,
"Thank you, Miss."
She mirrored his smile, her turquoise eyes full of kindness as she put various colourful candy into his basket. Then she turned to Sanji and Zoro,
"You've raised such a good boy,"
The cook felt his cheeks burn, now they were being mistaken not only for a couple but actual parents. The idea made something nice and warm tingle deep inside his chest as he wished to experience it. And yet, he realized it wasn't his place to do it. Chopper was, after all Zoro and Tashigi's son and he had nothing to do with making him the wonderful, smart and kind child he was today. Sanji opened his mouth to correct the beautiful lady before him, when-
"Thank you," Zoro said, lips stretching into a trademark smirk as he leaned in against the door.
Sanji nearly gaped at him, sensing the blush stretch onto his damn neck and even his chest.
"Some time he should come play with our boys, Franky and I would love that," the woman went on, stretching out a tan hand and offering them a little card that read her name, Nico Robin and her phone number, all written in neat cursive.
"Too bad they're out trick or treating now…I might join them in a little while." She added while Sanji smiled warmly at her, already picturing her as someone he'd like to chat with over coffee.
And Chopper too, he needed to find friends, no child deserved to grow up alone. After all, he'd learnt that the hard way.
"We'll call you sometime," he assured as Robin bid them goodbye and they went on with the trick or treating.
The chef hesitated as he stepped in closer to Zoro,
"Oi, moss for brains…you sure it wasn't a problem that she mistook us for parents?"
The man hesitated, the expression over his tan face hard to read,
"Already told you - I've never cared about people's opinions, don't tell me you do, blondie,"
Sanji couldn't stop the smile at his response, even if he wanted to, feeling as though a weight was being lifted off his shoulders,
"Plus Chopper likes you," Roronoa added, voice quieter, "Maybe we should, uh, try going on dates more often." The cook's heart slammed against his chest, damn the bastard for saying something like that so casually, as though he was reading off his damn grocery list,
"As long as it's without costumes," the swordsman went on, the joke melting away whatever trace of tension there was.
Sanji grinned at him, soaking in the warmth their newfound relationship promised.
He leaned in, so close to Zoro he felt his hot breath dance over his own thin lips,
"We might keep the costumes for some other time," he teased, the look of shock on Roronoa's face priceless.
xxx
"You've ever been on a Halloween first date before?" Law asked, voice slightly annoyed as he struggled to find common ground with Luffy.
Truth to be told he wasn't the best when it came to that frustrating small talk dates called for. He much preferred to talk about science and medicine, about things that actually mattered, rather than to come with twenty different ways of complaining about the weather.
To make it worse, he'd never actually been in a relationship. He was no blush virgin by any means, if anything he had plenty of experience when it came to sex.
It was just that usually things began and ended with sex when it came to him. He's pick up some good looking dude in a bar, take him home, fuck and then by morning the bastard would be out of his bed and by extension out of his head.
Law didn't do dates. And yet, here he was on one, dressed up as the doctor he actually was,
"Nope!" Luffy admitted, sunny grin on his face, "I don't really know much about love and what not."
He had a sheepish look on his face, as though he was a flustered teen. He even proceeded to rub the back of his head, like a kid being scorned by his parents.
Trafalgar licked his lips, something about the innocent look on Luffy's space sparked interested in him. Perhaps there was more to what met the eye when it came to the brunette.
"Neither do I," he replied, honest.
The younger man shot him a surprised look,
"But you look…so hot! I thought everyone would want to be your boyfriend."
Law chuckled at his words, unable to neglect the nice feeling his praise offered. For whatever reason he enjoyed hearing Luffy say nice things about him, even when he usually cared little about people's opinion.
"Must be your bad personality then, I mean all you do is smirk and snicker," Luffy went on to joke, sending him a mischievous look. Trafalgar shook his head, way to ruin the good impression.
He sent him a glare, raising a hand for a playful smack on the shoulder. Before he could touch him though Luffy let out an overdramatic (and perhaps girly) scream and ran towards the nearest house.
 xxx
"A doctor and a…pirate?" the owner of the house asked, leaning in against the doorframe.
Before them stood a tall, skinny looking old man with the wildest afro they'd seen a while. He was dressed as a skeleton, going as far as making his face ridiculously pale and bony.
For a second there Law considered that perhaps it wasn't even a costume but then dismissed it – no way in hell was he starting to believe in the supernatural.
"Every pirate needs a doctor!" Luffy declared, as though he knew everything about life in the sea.
Trafalgar shot him a bemused look, feeling a little offended he was being reduced to the captain's doctor,
"Now, come on, grandpa, give us some candy!" the brunette went on to urge,"
It made Law roll his eyes,
"Hey! I'm not your grandpa, don't you see, I'm a skeleton!" the old man roared with laughter, "And don't you think you're a little too old to go trick or treating?"
Luffy shrugged nonchantly,
"Meh, age is just a number, it's the adventure that counts!"
The stranger's thick lips stretched into a smile, a tint of nostalgia evident in his dark eyes,
"That's the spirit!" he encouraged, stretching out a hand and pouring some candy into Luffy's basket, "Mmm, you know you'd make a really good pirate, I should know, I was one once."
Luffy's eyes went wide and round in childish amazement,
"Really!" he gasped, as though that was the most fascinating bit of information, "You should tell me all about it! Here, Torao, take his number, I'll call him!"
Law sent him a glare, as if to convey, are you kidding me, but still did as told, saving Brook's number on his phone.
"And you, the grumpy looking doctor," the skeleton dressed man turned to him, "You'd better appreciate your boyfriend, he seems really nice!"
Trafalgar opened his mouth to protest but was silenced by Luffy's warm laughter,
"Shishishi, you hear, that Torao!"
Law's lips betrayed him, curling into a nice smile, against himself.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's get going, plenty of houses left for you to terrorize."
 xxx
A few hours later and many calories added to their day, they all set contently in the park, enjoying the surprisingly warm October night.
Sanji, Zoro and Chopper looked a lot like a real family, sitting close to one another as they laughed together and took lazy pictures in dim lighting.
The chef would occasionally raise the question of Chopper being way past bedtime but Zoro would brush it away, earning himself a glare. The scene made Law smirk, he could definitely see Sanji filling in the mum role, ever the worrier.
He let out a sigh, allowing himself to enjoy the moment.
Trafalgar looked up towards the sky, mesmerized at the way stars contrasted against the black sky – tiny dots of white. The autumn leaves rustled against one another, creating a soft, pleasant sound.
He closed his eyes, feeling something strangely akin to peace.
Luffy was standing right beside him, munching on the various candies contently. Law sensed his arm brushing against his own and let himself soak in the warmth the shorter man exuded. Literally and otherwise.
There was a pause, a soft silence between them which reeked of familiarity. It was strange, such a rare sight to see Luffy quiet. But it was nice, it felt good and right – as though they had known each other for years and not mere weeks.
Perhaps it was just the way Luffy worked – he was one of those rare people who felt like you knew them all along, who felt a little like home.
"Torao?" the other nudged him in the ribs, taking away from the serene moment,
"What?" Law asked, voice perhaps a little harsher than intended.
"You should let yourself be happy, you know," Luffy said, his tone nonchalant and carefree as ever.
And yet there was something more to his words, some hidden depth Trafalgar hadn't bother to notice. He raised an eyebrow, an unspoken challenge to go on,
"Life's too short for it to be boring," the brunette added, lips curved into a small, slightly melancholic smile.
The Spaniard was surprised his sudden change of mood, suspicious of how mismatched it seemed with Luffy's sunny, carefree personality.
Was there perhaps more to him than he'd let himself see?
The brunette appeared to stare at the darkness right before them but Trafalgar had the strangest feeling he was looking at something else, perhaps reliving times long gone.
"It should be lived without regrets."
The words resonated with him, they sounded like something a man – a father figure, he knew long ago would say. He leaned in against the tree behind him and turned to face Luffy.
His eyes were closed, his posture completely relaxed. The surgeon mused – he could be wrong, but the other seemed as though he was remembering something.
"Sounds like good advice," Law caved in the end, which earned him a broader smile,
"You really came up with those words on your own?" he investigated, raising an eyebrow.
Luffy broke into a laugh, the sound soft and melodic, dissipating into the darkness of the night sky.
It did something funny to Law, melting a piece of the ice he surrounded himself with. He was starting to think, he'd like to hear that laugh more often.
"My brother told me this," he responded after a while.
Law caught something was off in his voice, there was a slight shift in the atmosphere. Blink and you miss it but he still noticed it. He opened his mouth to question him but then –
Luffy shifted, coming closer to him.
He was so close, Trafalgar could sense his hot breath, which smelled of candy, over himself.
They stood like that for a while, staring at each other. Law caught Luffy's eyes, they appeared black in the cheap fluorescent lighting of the street lamps.
The expression behind them was a mix of curiosity and happiness, garnered with tiny flecks of lust.
Law hesitated for a moment too long, caught up between his desire to kiss the man and his own demons who wouldn't let him get close.
In the end Luffy seemed to decide for them both, leaning in and taking his lips.
Trafalgar stiffened at first, unaccustomed to having anyone in close proximity. But as Luffy's lips were on his own, the touch surprisingly warm and inexperienced, he leaned in, melting into the moment.
He bit down on the other's bottom lip, an invitation to let him in which he did.
It was evident the younger man was inexperienced and he even toyed with the idea of this being his first kiss. The thought of it sparked a trace of possessiveness in Law, he took pleasure in the sense of innocence which seemed to surround Luffy.
Law deepened the kiss, pleasantly surprised as the brunette appeared to be learning what to do, how to respond to the contact.
His hands were over his shoulders, then one travelled up, finding its way into his hear. He tugged a little at his shiny black strands and Trafalgar was caught off guard by the sensation, moaning into the kiss.
That seemed to excite the other more than anything so far but in the end they broke apart, taking a deep breath of the fresh, cool night air.
Law smirked as he saw the faint blush over the brunette's cheeks, he truly looked so much younger.
Luffy licked his lips, dark eyes shining with excitement as he scooped even closer. This time Trafalgar didn't shoo him away, his skin craving for more contact.
"See, I told you we would have so much fun!" he exclaimed, taking his hand once more.
"Mm, you might have been right, for once." Law teased, taking strange pleasure in the casualness between them after the kiss.
Luffy treated it as though it was the most natural thing in the world, as though they'd done it a hundred times and more.
"Just wait till you see our next date, Torao,"
                                                    xxx

Chapter Two
And I don’t mind if we take our time, ‘Cause I’m all yours if you’re all mine.
-
Work was hard when Phil just wanted to be hanging out with Nico. A couple of days had passed since they had started dating, and Phil couldn’t be happier with his life right now. Nico treated him like an actual prince, and in turn, Phil fell for him more and more every single day. He could already tell that there was a very large chance that he would fall in actual love with the guy. Ah, love. Such a strange thought, especially when he thought about how perfect Nico was. He didn’t really understand how Nico wanted to be with Phil of all people, when he was an ethereal human being himself. Nico, with his American accent and his pretty green eyes and his freckles. It was hardly fair that someone was that beautiful.
And yet, Phil was able to call him his own. What sort of miracle was that? His phone vibrated in his pocket and he clenched his teeth together to stop himself from answering it. His manager, Cleo, was super strict about phones while they were working, claiming it made them look as if they were slacking. Occasionally Phil could sneak a quick text in, but he knew it was risky, especially when Cleo could poke her head around the corner and see him at any given moment.
“Phil, Dan’s here,” Chandler said, rounding the corner. She had a bunch of dirty dishes stacked on her tray, her other hand putting the tray jack on the rack. She gave Phil a smirk and fluttered her eyelashes. “I swear, that boy is totally head over heels for you. Why else would he come by himself every week just to have you as his server?” Phil scowled at her and resisted the urge to smack the dirty dishes from her grip. If they were anywhere other than work, he might have, but he didn’t want to get fired. Yet.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he reprimanded. “First of all, it’s not true. And even if it were, it’d never happen. I have a boyfriend now, remember?”
Chandler snorted. “Boring,” she muttered as she walked away, towards the dish room. He knew that she didn’t mean it, that she was just having a bit of fun with him, but he couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes anyway. She always teased him about Dan, stating that the man fancied Phil, hence the reason he even ate at LaBella’s in the first place. That was just ridiculous, in Phil’s opinion. There were plenty of regulars that showed up every week, ones that even requested Chandler every time. Why was it any different when it was Dan? He shook his head, deciding not to dwell on the topic. He had a job to do, one that he was currently slacking on. Oops. He cracked his fingers, took a sip of his drink to wet his dry mouth, and stepped away from the server station, making his way into the dining room lobby. LaBella’s was a small, family owned business that served copious amounts of “Italian” food. It was known for it’s nice and cozy atmosphere and good fettuccine alfredo, so the restaurant was always buzzing with energy, no matter what time of day it was.
That was why Phil didn’t have to question why Dan came to this place. It was a rather relaxing place to eat after class, the soft piano music and quiet chatter filling the air. Phil often saw him leaning over his textbooks, taking notes in a space themed notebook. When Phil had asked him before what he studied, Dan had looked embarrassed before admitting that he was a theatre student with a focus on directing. Phil had told him it was much cooler than his own English degree.
As Phil approached the familiar table, Dan was leant over the menu. He had his backpack sitting beside him on the booth and his notebook already on the table. A bright pink pen sat atop the notebook, which made Phil smile. No matter how small, it was always nice to see men not care about the implications behind the colour pink.
“Hey, Dan!” Phil exclaimed, and he watched with amusement as Dan’s head shot up to stare at him.
Dan was definitely one of the prettiest customers Phil had ever had. When he first started coming in, Phil could admit that he’d even had a teensy tiny crush on him at one point. Of course, that had all faded over time, which was good considering Phil had Nico now. He was still pretty, though, with his wide brown eyes and his curly brown hair. He had a couple of beauty marks on his cheeks and even dimples which made Phil have trouble telling him no. Dimples were just too damn endearing.
Dan smiled and those dimples appeared, caving deep into his cheeks. “Hey, Phil. Are you having a good day today?”
Phil nodded and played with his pen in his apron pocket. He didn’t need to write down Dan’s order usually, but he always greeted him just in case he decided to change it up. “It’s been pretty steady so I’m staying optimistic so far. How about you? How’s directing going?”
In response, Dan groaned. “It’s going. My aesthetics class is going to kill me.”
“What, are you not aesthetic enough for it?”
Dan glared at him and threw a balled up piece of straw wrapper at Phil. “You know damn well I’m aesthetic enough, excuse you.”
Phil laughed and it sounded too loud in the tiny dining room. It always did, but he never knew how to quiet himself down enough as to not disturb anyone around him. “You’re right. My bad.” And then onto business, “The usual?” Dan always had a three cheese stuffed shells, a salad, and a side of calamari with a strawberry margarita and a water.
Dan nodded. “Yes please.”
And that was that.
There was literally nothing for Chandler to freak out over. Dan and Phil were just customer and server, nothing more and nothing less. Purely business. There was no need for her to freak out every single time Dan looked his way.
“He’s staring at your ass,” Chandler sang when he was out of Dan’s earshot and filling a glass with ice.
He turned his glare onto his friend, hoping there was heat in his gaze. “You are my least favourite kind of person,” he told her without humour in his voice.
She sighed dramatically and leaned against the server station, pouting. Phil wanted to ask her if she had anything better to do, but he didn’t manage to get the words out.
“Come on, Phil. He’s so cute! He looks like a gentle rabbit just waiting for somebody to claim him.”
“That was a horrible metaphor.”
“But you know it’s true.”
Phil groaned and took the glass away from the drink fountain right before it spilled over the edge.
“Look, Chandler,” he deadpanned, frowning. “Dan is cute. I’ll admit that. But i’m not going to leave Nico for him, okay? Nothing’s going to happen. I’m happy with Nico and that isn’t going to change any time soon. Can you just knock it off?”
He unwrapped the bottom of the straw and stuck it into the drink, feeling irritation dwelling in his belly, bubbling up just like the water in his glass.
Chandler sighed and waved her hand, pouting. “Fine, fine. But only because I see how nice Nico is to you. You really hit the jackpot there, Phil. I’m jealous.” She watched with folded arms as Phil made his way over to the terminal, swiping his identification card and inserting Dan’s order on the correct table number. “Maybe I’m just trying to get you out of the way so I can take Nico for myself.”
Phil snorted and swatted his hand at her. “Get your filthy ass out of here. He’s mine.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Chandler said in a spooky voice, wriggling her fingers as if she was performing magic. She looked past Phil’s head then, peering into the dining room, and tsked. “I just got sat. Have fun with your lover boy.”
Don’t get him wrong, Phil absolutely adored Chandler, but she could get to be a bit much at times. Just because Phil was bisexual didn’t mean that he wanted to screw every single person who hung around him.
And yet, even though he was bisexual, Chandler only teased him about other men. It was rather annoying that she didn’t validate the other part of his sexuality, but she never really listened whenever he told her that it bothered him. She only told him that it was easy to tease him about boys. Phil shook his head. These were thoughts for another day, definitely not thoughts he needed to have while he was at work.
He finished typing in Dan’s order and logged out of the terminal before walking back over towards where Dan was sitting. He was already working on his homework, jotting down notes in his notebook. His tongue was sticking out as he worked, and his left leg bounced under the table, making him seem rather jittery. It made Phil smile a little as he set the glass on the table. “Working hard already, I see?” Phil commented, wiping the condensation from the glass on his apron.
Dan glanced up and gave him a toothy grin. “You bet. I’ve got an exam tomorrow that I’ve been procrastinating on so I’m trying to cram.”
“Aesthetics?” Phil asked.
Dan hummed in agreement and tapped his pen on the page of his notebook. It left little pink dots on the paper, but Dan didn’t seem to notice even though it was quite hypnotizing to Phil. “Hopefully I remember enough stuff tomorrow that I’ll at least get a somewhat good grade.”
“I know you can do it,” Phil told him gently, giving him a supportive smile, which Dan returned thankfully.
They chatted for a bit longer about classes and it was easy. Easier than any of Phil’s other customers. Maybe it was just because Dan was a gentle person, or perhaps it was because Phil was used to his presence, but it was always relaxing whenever Dan set foot into the restaurant. He was never demanding, never in a rush. He was always patient and understanding. If there were mistakes, he just gave Phil a bright smile and told him it wasn’t an issue and that he didn’t mind. He always showed up alone, but he never seemed to care about that. That’s why Phil liked having Dan as a customer so much, why he didn’t mind whenever Dan showed up to his work.
Not to mention, he always left really good tips. Phil couldn’t exactly complain about that.
Dan has been coming to LaBella’s since Phil’s second week of working there, about a year ago. Dan had just started university and was going around town trying to figure out the best places to eat. When Phil had first served him, he had been with a girl named Louise, but Phil had only seen her one other time before Dan started coming by himself. Slowly, Dan had become a comforting presence, one that was familiar above all else. He just had this certain… aura about him, one that could calm Phil down no matter how stressed out he was. On top of that, Phil had never seen Dan upset except for once, but that was only because Dan’s dog had died that day. Phil hadn’t exactly been able to blame him for ordering the biggest dessert that day and staying quiet as he scarfed it down like he needed it to breathe.
Work went by a lot more smoothly once Dan arrived. While Phil would usually be upset about someone camping at his table, he couldn’t help but be pleasantly thankful that he had one less table to worry about.
He didn’t have to worry about getting less tips either, because Dan always made sure to tip more than enough. All he had to do was make sure his customers had enough to drink and enough to eat, and the rest of the time he would joke around with Chandler and his other coworkers until he could clock out. When Dan left, he left behind a small note written in pink ink. It sat atop the checkbook, folded three times, and Phil blinked in surprise. Dan had never left a note before. What could he possibly want to tell him that was so important?
He put it in his apron pocket and cleared off the table before reading it, not wanting to get in trouble for slacking off.
Only once he was finished cleaning did he allow himself to open the note. The writing was a messy scrawl and Phil had to squint his eyes to make sense of the words. It took him a few minutes of deciphering to figure out a general idea of what it said, and when he did, he couldn’t keep the grin from spreading across his face.
Phil, thanks again for the awesome service! I’ve been having a stressful week due to exams, but you always know how to cheer me up. You seem happier than usual, and I’m glad to see that. I’ll see you next week!
-Dan
It was a strange note, especially because Dan never was one for talking much, but Phil had no qualms about something like this. In fact, it made cheeks begin to hurt from smiling so hard. Although he sure as hell wouldn’t tell Chandler what Dan had written unless he never wanted to hear the end if it.
Having nice customers like Dan definitely made being a server worth it.
-
Phil drove to Nico’s apartment after work. He didn’t know what type of music he was in the mood for so he just played Lady Gaga on full blast, screaming out the window about how he was born this way to anyone who would listen. He didn’t mind that it was probably annoying. He just couldn’t seem to tamp his excitement down whenever he saw Nico.
The rest of their day was supposed to be rather lazy. Nico had promised to make Phil dinner, saying it was a surprise, and had mentioned something about reading and watching a movie. Even though it was just a relaxed day where nothing special was going on, Phil couldn’t stop himself from being pleasantly excited.
He pulled up to Nico’s apartment not soon after, putting the car into park, grabbing his backpack, and heading to the door. He didn’t knock before he went in, knowing Nico would tell him to just come in anyway.
“Nicky?” Phil called, taking his shoes off at the mat. A confirmation noise came from the kitchen and Phil smiled, making his way towards it. He was greeted by the sight of Nico in a dog apron, cooking something in a skillet that looked vaguely like fajitas. Phil made a scene out of inhaling the scents of the food. “Mm, smells so good!”
“It better be,” Nico commented, shooting a wink from over his shoulder. He set the spatula on the counter and turned around, grinning widely at Phil and opening his arms wide. “C’mere. Gimme a kiss.”
Phil obeyed like a well-trained puppy, sinking appreciatively into Nico’s arms. He was still in his uniform that had alfredo stains on it, but thankfully Nico didn’t comment on his outrageous appearance. He’d change in a moment. They kissed and Phil’s heart soared like it always did, still not used to the feeling.
When they pulled away, Nico went back to cooking and Phil left the room for a moment to change out of his uniform. When he got back, he took a seat at the table, pulling his book out of his backpack so he could start on a little bit of reading. He was planning on beginning Impulse today so he could understand a little bit more about what went on in Nico’s head. He had just opened the first page and started reading when Nico spoke.
“I tried calling you while you were at work today,” he said conversationally.
Phil raised an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? I saw that.”
Nico stuck his tongue out at him and flicked a sauteed onion at him. “You didn’t answer. I was offended.”
Snorting, Phil rolled his eyes and tossed the cooked onion back. It landed on Nico’s shoulder, who wiped it away in disgust. “My manager is super strict about the no mobile phones policy,” he explained. “If I’d answered, it could have caused me to lose my job.”
“Then at least send a text explaining you can’t talk,” Nico whined. “What if I’d needed something important? You’d never know!”
Phil laughed. “Fine, fine, I’ll risk a single text for you if it’ll get you off my back. If I’d answered today, I wouldn’t have made it to Dan’s table on time. That wouldn’t have been good.”
Nico pursed his lips. “Dan?”
“Yeah. He’s my regular.”
“Is he cuter than me?”
Phil let out a surprised laugh, gaping at him with wide eyes. Was Nico jealous? Or was he just kidding around? Phil shook his head, amused. “You nerd. Of course he’s not. You’re like, top tier.”
Nico smiled at the skillet he was cooking in, looking pleased. It was endearing. “Good.” There was a moment where the vegetables sizzled in the pan, and then, “I got you some flowers because they reminded me of you. They’re on the table.”
It wasn’t hard to find them because Phil was sitting at the table. They were placed in a skinny purple vase, a pretty bundle of purples and pinks and whites. Phil’s eyes widened and he touched their petals, feeling the softness underneath his fingertips. Another guy had never bought him flowers before simply because they’d reminded him of Phil. He felt as though his chest was filled with so much emotion that he could barely breathe. “They’re beautiful,” Phil whispered gingerly.
Nico chuckled. “Almost as pretty as you, yeah? They’re sweet peas,” he murmured in a fond voice, one so raw that Phil felt the words seeping under his skin and into his bones.
“Oh hush,” Phil giggled, his cheeks reddening.
Nico removed the skillet from the stove, and then he was walking over to Phil. He leant down and pressed a kiss to the top of his head, spreading warmth all throughout his body. “I’m serious. Maybe you can be my sweet pea.”
Phil laughed and tilted his head up, grinning at his boyfriend. Nico kissed the smile off his face until Phil was turning red all over again. “That’s so lame,” Phil breathed.
“Good thing we’re lame then, sweet pea,” Nico replied, pressing one more kiss to his lips before returning to the skillet. He hummed as he continued to cook, and Phil smiled at him even though he couldn’t see it. He couldn’t believe he had a man who took him on dates to the library, cooked him dinner, and gave him cute (and cheesy) nicknames. It was the most amazing thing in the world. He turned his attention back to the book in his hands, trying to hide his grin. Being creepy and staring at Nico as he cooked would do nothing but make him look strange. He needed to start reading the book anyway, knowing that favourite books said a lot about a person. The book was written in verse, which was a strange experience because it was not poetry. It was poetic and the author played around with words and sentence structure, which made Phil very pleased. It made the book read easier. Faster, even.
But as he made sense of the words, of the story, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of discomfort rising inside of him. Even from the first few pages, he knew that the story was going to be dark. It was about suicide and pain and recovery. It was about trying to live through the pain, trying to save yourself before it was too late. ‘Wish you could turn off the questions, turn off the voices, turn off all sound,’ Phil read to himself, glancing up at Nico once more. ‘Yearn to close out the ugliness, close out the filthiness, close out all light. Long to cast away yesterday, cast away memory, cast away all jeopardy. Pray you could somehow stop the uncertainty, somehow stop the loathing, somehow stop the pain. Act on your impulse, swallow the bottle, cut a little deeper, put the gun to your chest.’ Dark, full of meaning, possibly even triggering. Why did Nico love this book so much? Did he have to deal with a topic such as this? Did he perhaps go through a time in his life where he found death more appealing than life? Phil didn’t know, but he wanted to learn. He wanted to learn every little thing about Nico, all the way from his favourite foods to the reason behind his favourite books. Phil had made his decision and hopefully they would be in this for the long run now.
About ten minutes passed before Nico made a triumphant noise and presented Phil with a plate full of fajitas and broccoli. “I didn’t know what kind of side to make with fajitas but I figured broccoli was a safe choice,” Nico admitted, making Phil giggle.
“It’s wonderful,” Phil told him genuinely, kissing his boyfriend on the cheek.
“Just like you,” Nico sang. And then, with a wink added, “sweet pea.”
Laughing but also blushing, Phil began to dig in, even though his heart was trying to beat out of his chest. Happiness was welling in his throat and he wanted to scream with the raw emotion. He didn’t, of course, but he did laugh more loudly and became slightly twitchy because of it.
Dinner at Nico’s house with sweet peas on the table and a comfortable aura in the air was definitely something Phil could get used to.

DR Re:Birth opinions
Ayumu Fujimori (Bad Luck): He is not a particularly interesting protagonist and his backstory has much more potential to go wrong than right. Not that this is ever going be explored though.
Mikoto Itsuki (???): Basically pre-character development Harukawa. Don’t like her.
Mitsunari Koga (Ventriloquist): I like his talent and status as kid show star. The main body’s personality seems good enough. The two puppets fighting each other sounds fun on paper but it was kinda weak in his introduction scene.
Nico Himuro (Poet): Nico Himuro doesn’t seem bad but didn’t impress either. I found it weird that Nico Himuro always refers to herself in third person, but instead of using only her first name like the other third person characters, Nico Himuro always uses her full name.
Kasumi Izumo (Spirit Medium, but prefers to be called Summoner because medium sounds like a scam): I liked her a lot. Her creepy vibes are very endearing, she is crazy in a very fun way and her rivalry with Rokudou feels like it could be interesting if the story had continued. Kudos to the seiyuu because her evil laugh is lovely.
Saiji Rokudou (Funerary Agent): Another one of my favs. His personality feels kinda bland for being too serious, but he has a very cool and creative talent and his potential rivalry with Izumo as I already mentioned. He also has my favorite name.
Maiko Kagura (Dancer): Generic genki girl. Nothing special to comment about her.
Akira Tsuchiya (Neet): I want to like him for being a walking Kagerou Project reference but I’m not too fond of Shintarou either. His “Well, I said I don’t mind dying but... I actually don’t want to die a boring death. I’ll... make even this situation into entertainment” quote makes me completely convinced that he is the mastermind.
Misuzu Aisaka (Miko): She is beautiul, but I dislike Ishimaru and Mahiru’s strict behaviour and Aisaka is much worse than them in that remark, so I can’t like her. Her reaction to being compared to Izumo was hilarious though.
Narumi Oosone (Gourmet): Not good, not bad. Both of her gimmicks so far were straight up copypaste from Shokugeki no Souma.
Keigo Sakuma (DJ): Screw this character. DanganRonpa already had its fair share of crappy experience with brainwashers.
Aruma Todoroki (Tamer): I liked her much more than I expected. Kodaka should learn how to make a BDSM-themed character from this to avoid another failure like Iruma.
Marin Mizuta (Weather Forecaster): I like her talent but her not so much. Many things about her just feel off. Like her Angie-like bubbly personality that completely mismatches with her Nanami-like slow, sleepy pace, the creepy eyes on her raincoat and the way she uses “onee-san” as her first person pronoun.
Kazuomi Sameshima (Karate Fighter): His personality was completely different from what I expected. His character introduction was easily my favorite. Very cute and fun.
Seishi Yodogawa (Mystery Novelist): He is a nice, chill and likeable guy, but it really annoyed me that didn’t have any excuses for why he knew the info about every single Super High School Level student (except Fujimori). I think his talent is kind of unnecessary and going with another detective would be a better choice. Jasico for the ask meme?
Thank you so much!! This made me remember how much I love these boys! Hope you will like the headcanons!
—
Who is the big spoon/little spoon? Jason likes tothinks he’s the big spoon but really he just likes to cuddle Nico when he getsthe chance and most mornings they wake up with Nico’s arm and leg thrown overJason’s or Nico like, shoving Jason into the wall because Jason just kicks somuch and dreams so wildly should Nico be concerned?
Favourite (non-sexual) activity? You mean besidesNico stealing Jason’s glasses and making a skeleton run around with them whenhe’s annoyed at Jason okay I’m sorry I’ll stop with the skeleton jokes as ifNico could be annoyed with Jason lol Probably watching the movies becauseNico absolutely loves the cinema and 3D reminds Jason of flying and he lovesfor others to be able to experience it as well, so whenever they get a chancethey watch movies, and if they get to go on a trip they get loads of popcornand soda and binge watch like two or three movies. Teaming up or teamingagainst each other during capture the flag is pretty fun too!
Who uses all the hot water in the morning? Nico is amore private person in general so he showers when there is pretty much no onearound, but he likes to enjoy the hot water and the warmth and everything, after being stuck in the labyrinth and Tartarus he enjoys simple pleasures andfreedom all the more, really. Jason is more used to showering when others arearound and doesn’t mind chatting while showering so I imagine if they everlived together, he’d might want to join Nico, not even in a sexy way, just toshare the shower and chat and Nico is progressively less and less shy aroundJason so it doesn’t really even phase him after a few years of them beingtogether.
What they order from take out? Nico loves everythingfried and Jason just, doesn’t understand that (how do you get from barely eating to just craving deep fried butter??)but they agree on fluffy thick pancakes with lots of syrup and pizza. Jasonalso likes smoothies, even the green, healthy, vegetable onesand just tries to eat more veggies in general he likes the crunch but healso says it’s because of watching Nico devour all that fried food.
What is the most trivial thing they fight over? WhenNico visits the Roman camp without telling Jason, because he wanted to seeeveryone too! (Or just disappearing to go visit a friend without even tellingJason or without leaving a note when they were travellingand establishing all the shrines and temples.) Sometimes they bicker aboutarchitecture/history and nerd stuff, especially video games. Nico has played them all, okay he knows his stuff,Jason. They both agree Captain America is cool though.
Who does most of the cleaning? If they are not atcamp, they usually travel a lot, so there isn’t much cleaning to do, but Nicoreally cares about interior design so he tends to like to keep things kindatidy. Jason likes homey, lived in places and also had way more clean duty atthe Roman camp than Nico, so he doesn’t really enjoy it that much.
Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s notworking? I think it would be more Jason because Nico probably curls up into aball of blankets and tea or distantly thinks of shadow travelling away whileJason just wants his boyfriend to be comfortable and happy also his nose is freezing off what’s happening? He’s always politethough while Nico tends to curse a bit more but not actually move because hefound warmth and he’s keeping it get hereJason.
Who steals the blankets? Jason tries to, when he’sasleep, though mostly, he just kicks them off without knowing, and listen, Nicodidn’t go through Tartarus to have his blanket stolen, okay? He will tie you tothe bed if he has to.
Who leaves their stuff around? I’d say Jason does, more often, because important things Nico tends to always keep on him, becausehe’s just ready to be swept into some bad shit at any moment, to be honest, while Jason tends to forget like, the most basic things at random places. Likehis glasses. Jason you can’t see properlywithout them, how do you forget them? Or he leaves his one shoe somewhereand has no idea where it went. How doesthis happen. Why. Nico was it you?  Nicowith Jason’s glasses on his face: No.
Who remembers to buy the milk? I feel like they bothtend to forget, but Jason was in charge of a whole camp at one point so heprobably keeps things like that in mind more often, while Nico just figuresthat if he forgot he can always get it somehow.
Who remembers anniversaries? Jason because he’s sappylike that, let’s be real and Nico finds it very endearing, also Jason isprobably pretty easy to please on a daily basis? Little things can really makehis day and while Nico tends to be a bit bewildered at first by all theattention Jason pays him, but it warms his heartincredibly as well. Nico also makes it a point to remember important things, like Jason’s birthday because he wants him to know he is important to Nico, too.
