DEAR ALICE ... IN SHORT , HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THOSE OF US IN WONDERLAND TO YOU , OUTSIDER ! / OH SHIT ANOTHER NEW YEARS POST FROM SOMEONE ON YOUR DASH ?! yes, that's me! i don't want to ramble too long, but i do want to thank everyone who has supported me on this blog over the past year & especially with how chaotic it's been on my end. i know my activity hasn't been great this year and i've been struggling a lot, but i still appreciate so much the people who have stuck by me & still interacted with me despite all the stuff i've been going through. <4 being here & talking to everyone & getting in interactions where i could has helped make 2022 a better and less lonely year than it would have been, otherwise.

i'm so sorry to people who i've let down when it comes to interactions & getting back to them through messages and whatnot. 2022 was genuinely such a rough year for me, but i am infinitely more grateful that in spite of those things, so many of you have still decided to stick with me. this blog was... so ambitious when i made it & i honestly didn't think i'd make it this far or that anyone would have any interest in a bunch of random furry ocs KJNEMRKHJM. i was just a fan of otome with a will to roleplay & a dream :') but you all have given so much love to these ocs and i can't thank you enough.

i hope that moving forward i'm able to interact with more of you!! and to continue interactions with those i've already started them with!! or rekindle ones that got caught up in my absence. thank you so much for your patience with me, & for sticking around! i hope you all have a HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR & that 2023 is kind to us!!

book review for into the drowning deep by mira grant!!! spoilers under the cut! just found out the author has a tumblr well if u find this pretty please dont look theres nothing bad in here its just not for you! reviews are for readers and you can get constructive criticism from a paid editor and not random readers doing this for free :)

ok i. literally just finished this and am writing it as i am staring at the finished checkmark on my computer lol wanted to get this out so i didnt forget. anyways ok so i super liked this book. love feels like a strong word bc i think im on too much adhd meds to really feel it like that but yeah i really really liked it.

OBViously the best part about this book were the mermaids. i came into it wanting mermaids and creepy shit in the ocean and science and thats what i got. they were creepy wnd fucked up and vicious and murderous amd beautiful and i loved them so much. especially that we got their pov! and how sometimes from their pov we would get little hints of answers about them before the scientists did. i liked that. loved the ocean imagery especially from dr toth was it heavy handed? maybe. idc i love the ocean.

this was also again. creepy as fuck not downright terrifying which surprised me bc im a huge wimp. but i was on the edge of my seat and anxious and nervous for a lot of the characters... which leads me to my next point i guess i dont really feel like i connected per say with all of the characters as much as others. like i feel connected for sure to olivia, especially when its her pov, the probable undiagnosed autism diagnosis goes crazy. and i really liked the wilsons, luis was nice, i liked dr toth. everyone else i didnt really care. which is fine i read this for cool mermaids !!

another thing i would kill for more of was the linguistics with hallie and lennox and the mermaid like i fucking LOVE that shit, and also what happened to said mermaid other than just a small bit at the end about it being bought by some rich guy. also would like to see more of the matriarch mermaid. i love the absolute ancient and archaic nature of creatures that are just fuckin so big, especially when it relates to the ocean. and also maybe i missed where her size was actually describe and im generally really bad at conceptualizing how big things are when just given like. measurements but i was picturing this thing as more colossal than anything else, which would tie into luis' research, right?? pretty sure that was his whole schtick and i wanted more of that... i do appreciate the mystery however. this book left me with questions, and not in a like this was filled with plot holes kinda way but more of a i need to know more this is probably how all those scientists felt kinda way. i like that i think. absolutely love how in these reviews im just spitballing ideas and seeing what sticks who knows tomorrow i probs wont agree with half the shit im saying but who cares. im working out my thought irl and this is what happens. on another note we had anchovies out for dinner and im not normally squeamish about them but. looking at them when reading this book did make me feel a bit weird so theres that. 4/5 stars had fun would recommend

PIKUHAN HC'S PART 3!!!

It's that time of day where I devote all my time into thinking about how my favorite fictional couple would respond/act/be in situations!! Enjoy this lovely longg list today:D

Were they friends before?

Yep! Well, technically comrades since they fought together. I think it took a while for them to actually date / be together though.

What moment made them fall in love? (Bc falling in love actually takes around less than 6 seconds, it's the actual realizing that takes longer)

Hange was very attracted to Pieck right off the bat. Knowing her history, then seeing her in person made her super enticing to them. I think Hange was like head over heels for a while, but genuinely realized they loved her after she opened up to them and began to talk more in their presence. For Pieck, it took a second. Once they were allies, she didn’t mind their advances / flirting at all. I think she was attracted to Hange for a while, but actually realized she was in love when she saw how much they genuinely cared for her and wanted to protect her.

Who asked the other out first?

Said it once, I’ll say it a million times: PIECK DID!! Hange is way too awkward and oblivious to actually make real moves. Pieck for sure had to ask them, and even then they weren’t sure if it was legit LMAO.

How did the date go and how did they act?

I think it was good! They hadn’t really had time with just the two of them before, so it was nice to actually get to be alone together. I think Hange was super nervous but charming in their weird way. Pieck was probably very cool about it and kept the convo going well.

What are their usual gifts?

Pieck is very crafty and artistic, so she’s always making pieces / trinkets for Hange. Hange is much less creative like that, so they’re often buying random things that remind them of Pieck or getting her flowers / classic romantic gifts.

What's their love language?

Hange: Words of Affirmation. I think they need a lot of reassurance from their partners, especially Pieck. I mean… she’s Pieck. It’s hard to imagine feeling super confident in yourself when she’s next to you lol. Hange is also more anxious than they seem so it makes them feel much more confident when their partner reaffirms their feelings for them.

Pieck: Acts of Service or Physical Touch. I literally could not decide so I just didn’t. I think Pieck really appreciates people doing things for her because she isn’t remotely used to it. She’s always been very self-sufficient and independent, so when people notice she needs help and does something for her, she’s deeply touched. I also think she’d be pretty physically needy. She’s always touching / holding a part of her partners, especially Hange because they really like that.

What flusters them?

Pieck is very talented at verbally flirting with Hange. She can get them super flustered when she talks to them because she doesn't usually say much:) I think Pieck is really into Hange’s physicality. She’s super attracted to muscles / abs, which Hange has plenty of. She gets very flustered when she sees them working out.

A song to describe their relationship?

When Hange is alive: My Girl by the Temptations, or More Than A Woman by the Bee Gees, or Glue Song by Beabadoobee / Clairo.

When Hange is not alive: Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men, or Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith

What's their favorite memory?

Pieck thinks Hange’s mannerisms when they first met were so cute. At the time she found them kind of irritating since they were literally at war, but she laughs about how adorable it was now. Hange loves every moment with Pieck, but really loves their more intimate and vulnerable moments where they’re both being their genuine selves.

How about the first kiss? What was it like?

It was definitely initiated by Pieck I think. Again, I think Hange is either too oblivious and/or respectful to initiate something like that, so Pieck would likely take the lead. It was probably very long and sweet, but Hange probably said some stupid shit after like “Hot damn!” or something LMAO.

How would they describe each other?

Pieck about Hange: Loveable, sweet, and caring

Hange about Pieck: Beautiful, incredible, and intelligent.

Would they go cloud- or stargazing?

Both tbh. Pieck just would be happy to lay tf down HAHA

I think Pieck is generally very organized, and this rubbed off a lot on Hange. I still believe Hange to be pretty messy, but being in the military conditioned them on certain things (making their bed, keeping a tidy-ish living space, etc).

Who'll be caught saying "rules are made to be broken"?

HANGE!! They’re not into rules and will not hesitate to act like they’re above them.

Whose hobbies/interests change every 2-5 business days?

Hange again. Pieck doesn’t mind because this gives her new things to shop for when they go out every few days lol.

Who'd be able not to talk for the longest?

Pieck for sure. She’s very used to it from when she’d be a titan for long periods, despite having one able to speak. She could go days without saying anything and not care at all. Hange would likely go insane in the first minute.

Whose I-Hate-Everything-And-Everyone teenage phase was the most intense/lasted the longest?

HANGE. They definitely struggled with identity and stuff during that time. I think they were likely very defiant and had some issues during those years, but found a great community / family in the military. Pieck never had anything like this, being that she was a literal child soldier and couldn’t afford to be angsty.

Who'd take the gingerbread house decorating contest just a little too seriously?

10000% Pieck. She’d spend like an entire day working on it and it would be a total masterpiece.

Who's more likely to execute their threats?

Probably Pieck. She’s not one to make threats, but if she did and it needed to happen, she’d more than likely go through with it.

Who has the more embarrassing Spotify Wrapped? + Give a run-down of each character's Spotify Wrapped, in as much or little detail as you want.

Definitely Hange. They’d have a complete mess of a wrapped. Like sea shanties, R&B, alt, classic rock, and some heavy metal tossed in there too. Pieck’s would be very chill. Probably a lot of lofi, indie, and alt stuff. She’s def a Lana/Mitski/Phoebe/Ethel stan.

Who's the most likely to take a bribe?

Hange most likely would. Depends on the situation obviously, but I could see them rocking with that...

Who has the hardest time finishing a train of thought because they get distracted by a million other things along the way?

Hange!! Their attention span is like … goldfish level…

Who most initiates PDA?

Pieck for sure. She’s very touchy and likes to be physically near or attached to Hange.

Any sleep habits either had to get used to?

Pieck sleeps A LOT. She’s going to be out a minimum of 10 hours once her head hits the pillow. Hange’s usually last to fall asleep, and the first to wake up.

Jealousy issues?

Hange is a total airhead socially IMO, so I think Pieck gets semi-possessive of them in public. She just doesn’t want them to get messed with or flirted with on her watch.

What's a night out for them?

Definitely a chill, romantic evening. Candle-lit dinner, maybe a concert (classical or jazz ofc), or just hanging out and going for a walk together:)

What’s an evening in for them?

Again, super chill and intimate. Probably just dinner / takeout, reading or watching something together, then cuddling all night.

Double Date? Thoughts? Who?

If EVERYONE is magically alive, then definitely an Erwin and Levi double date. They’d probably be super close with them and hang out a lot considering they're Hange's closest pals.

Do they want (have) kids?

I think so! They’d both be really wonderful parents IMO, so I think they’d like one or two:)

Have an AU thought?

I love college/modern AU’s for them. I think they’re both very professor / teacher coded since they’re both incredibly smart, so I like AU’s where that translates into them being involved in academia.

If they got engaged... who proposed?

I think Hange would have! Very sweetly and intimately too, which is tough for them lmao. They probably nailed it because they just love Pieck so much and the words just came out perfectly (And they both definitely cried).

How do they deal with the other’s family?

I usually believe Hange to not have any living family or not be close to them. I do believe Hange and Mr. Finger would be super tight though! They both love Pieck immensely so I think that would help a ton.

How are their communication skills?

Not bad! I think they may have struggled with this at first though. They had to build a ton of trust to become fully comfortable with each other, but once they started being more honest about their needs and concerns I think it went really well and they succeeded immensely from there.

A little personal... but... Hot and Steamy or Soft and Tender?

All of the above. Depends on the moment lmao.

How did they first meet?

Hange dragged her half dead bestie out of the woods to try and ally with Pieck and her boss during a world terror attack :) Or also when Pieck stole her coworker from Hange while they were trying to kill him while she was in titan form:)

Why do they like each other?

I think they absolutely complete each other. Despite being pretty similar, they both obviously have struggles and insecurities, but I think they help each other feel more confident, loved, and safe.

Who cooks most?

Pieck! Hange is basically banned from the kitchen without supervision on a permanent basis after continuously almost burning it down.

Morning rituals?

Lots of hugs and kisses. They’re both very sleepy and slow-going, so they like to lounge and hang around a lot before actually starting their day. Once they do get up, they’ll have breakfast together and talk about their plans for the day :)

Evening rituals?

They like to wind down for a while with some reading/chilling together. Depending on the mood, sometimes other uh… things… are on the agenda!!

How are they at parties or gatherings?

They’re either wallflowers together or they’re both in the middle of the floor, wasted, and completely tearing it up. No in between.

Most cuddly?

Definitely Pieck. She’s not very verbal with affection, but she wants to be touching Hange at all times, it makes her feel very safe (Girly def has abandonment issues but that’s not the question)

Movie Night?

They’d totally do movie nights all the time. I think they’d like science-fiction movies, romantic comedies, or action. They’re pretty broad in taste about that stuff.

Who is the photo bug?

Hange! They love photography and take pictures of Pieck all the time. She’s way too photogenic not to.

How well do they know each other’s favorite foods?

I think Pieck accidentally cooked something Hange was allergic to and unknowingly served it for a date once. That date ended up taking place in the hospital as a result LMAO

What do their texts look like?

Pieck is pretty normal, but definitely has potential for “K” type responses if she’s annoyed/tired/grumpy. Hange would absolutely send like 10 messages that could be one single message

Parenting style?

They’re very much a united front. No “go ask your mom” or shit like that. If one of them says something, the other is gonna be on board. Overall though, they’re very affectionate, supportive, and encouraging to their kids.

If they have kids, what would they name them / who would name them?

I definitely think a girl would be named after Pieck’s mother. I think that would be Hange’s idea too which makes it even better.

Who brings home an illegal pet?

Hange for sure. Pieck would let them keep it for maybe a day before having them set it free.

Who takes the longest getting ready to leave?

Pieck! It takes a long time to look that good!!

Who said I Love You, first?

I think Hange said it in passing / accidentally, then Pieck said it for real. It was probably a slip of the tongue on Hange’s part, and Pieck made it super genuine and said “I love you too:)”. Hange probably passed out after LMAO.

When did they realize they loved each other?

I don’t think there was a specific moment where everything clicked at all. I think they grew into a great pair and after working on themselves together, realized how deeply they care for each other. It all just fell into place over time.

I tend to keep a lot of my "vulnerable" feelings a bit bottled up lol BUT I am working on that lol I of course appreciate you sooo much! Even before I claimed the 💜emoji, I HEAVILY related to your MC's like there were so many similarities in their personality and struggles that for a second got a little TOO REAL lol And to know you put alot of yourself into your stories and characters it felt nice to know that I wasn't alone in feeling like that. Sometimes it feels like something is so wrong with me when it gets tough so knowing that my feelings aren't so strange made/makes me feel alright :) idk if any of that made sense lol

omg don't even get me started when parents trauma dump 😭 idk if i mentioned this before or not but Im first gen Mexican American so literally Mexican parents/elders will literally tell you the most TRAUMATZING stories/experiences then go to say shit like "it's okay, thank god we are better now😁" LIKE HELLO!? WE NEED TO UNPACK THAT?!

I often think if I would be "happier" if I had just chosen a semester school bc I despise this horrid system lol But youre so kind, you have no idea😭

OMG YOU THINK I HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE??? thats crazy bc I feel like mine isn't too crazy or fun lol I have a small core group of friends but the majority of them aren't in school and the friends I do have in college i feel like I rarely seem them due to all of us being so busy lol But ngl i do love going to the free events there like concerts and drag shows WHICH ARE MY FAVE!!! but even then hanging out can sometimes be a little draining for me but once again Im trying to work on that lol.

I totally get the bottling your feelings up. I think Tulips is most like that. She has some issues (she, being me). I'm glad feeling relatable was a comfort for you. I know it's a comfort for me and I think one of the NICEST things about writing on here is that there are actually many people share the same feelings as me (us). Way more than I thought. It's kind of isolating day-to-day so it's nice to know it doesn't have to be.

HEY RANDOM!!! do you know your Myer's Brigg Personality? I am a HUGE personality test taker. Those buzzfeed ones that were like "What toaster are you?" literally obsessed. or the soldier, poet, king test? Any of them! I love them. It might be a little confirmation bias-y in my own personality but I don't care; I love them. HAHAHAHHAHA I did one for a job years ago I would have to dig it out to remember what the actual test was but i think it was like your big 5 qualities in the work place. Anyway, it made me think of more ways we could be similar (I'm an INFJ - (T) but if I use my teacher persona I can be convinced to be an ENFJ --but I'm a major introvert at heart obvi)

My mom and I are very similar. My bf has some pretty convincing theories about how my mom used to be like my sister and then turned into me when she had kids because she had to be responsible. So her trauma dumping often includes a lot of regrets and worries. You've mentioned your Mexican-American heritage before and I've seen a lot in the media (I know it's not exactly the same and probs also childish of me to rely on Disney for media but Encanto and Coco I feel like were semi-good examples--please don't think the worst of me if you disagree) Encanto especially--Grandma has some things to talk through. That's a lot to unload on you (or anyone!). Again, nice to know it's relatable even if it's sad sometimes. At least I'm not alone! 💕

UGH I can't wait to write TA Harry 😍 You could NEVER be annoying. I want the play-by-play PLEASE it will be the best inspo and I need to live vicariously!!! I've never been to a drag show but definitely on the list of things I'd like to attend! I fall into the latter part of your sentence there. I refrain from doing a lot of things because I'm already so busy on a regular day I don't want to do anything that will require energy when I don't need to use it HAHAHAHA

andddd I’m back! finished the whole thing. it was very good for sure. felt much quicker mostly bc I was not like. dealing with the culmination of probably over a year of hedging all my bets on hisoka’s identity. since I finished the whole thing I’ll be like. loosely chronological but also jump around as I please lol. considering im six paragraphs deep into a fic i definitely did have some feelings abt this.

anyways. very glad I paused where I did bc the moment I heard some random stranger picking on someone and going pretty boy my reaction went like this:

me: hm… pretty boy? that’s not yuki, is it? he would kill them already.. oh it’s azami!!! Oh my god it’s azami!! ah well then these guys are also dead. isn’t he a yakuza child.

and then azami beat them up :) love that kumon immediately thinks he is the coolest… it’s the juza-fan instinct. also love how when sakyo heard abt a middle schooler beating ppl up he’s immediately like ah fuck it’s the yakuza brat isn’t it. I will take this space to put in all of my azami thoughts before I resume. I was so surprised he showed up this early! then again I was a bit confused bc summer and autumn did their road shows together, and I was like… huh, didn’t spring start with these road shows too… how is autumn gonna begin? but nope surprise!! azami gets integrated here instead. very cool and I thought he and kumon becoming friends was done really naturally? like man who wouldn’t like it if someone was all starry eyed about you lol. especially since azami doesn’t seem. used to that level of appreciation. I, like azami, also thought that he and kumon were the same age lol. I did know azami did makeup but it was still so funny for him to shyly visit summer’s opening night backstage and then immediately be like oh u all look horrendous. let me fix this with the insane amt of makeup stuff I carry around. lovely. so very yuki-esque. also. wow, azami, how come you get to have *two* dads you’re beefing with! (sakyo and the boss) I think I am very sakyo-like tho bc when azami makes his phone calls I’m sitting there like ah… that kids not getting mixed up in a bad crowd, is he? he’s literal yakuza. kiri why are you like this. great voice acting on those calls also, it totally conveys the vibe of like angsty teen who chills out and is very casual around friends. I’m super interested as to who that person on the other end is, seeing as azami says he might reach that guys goal first after talking abt joining mankai… another actor / aspiring actor? haruto? misumis younger bro? who knows. only time will tell ig. was a bit sad abt the fact that azami and kumon didn’t have a cg—I think it would’ve been nice to have one when kumon collapsed into him, or a cg of juza and kumon where he’s picking him up… but there seems to only be 3 cgs per story for act 2. what a shame. well ig that’s what fanart is for lol—gotta brush up (pun intended) on my drawing skills! anyways I’m not super happy with azami’s dad lol. let him do makeup you clod. I always joke that I like characters who others are kind of homophobic to but it’s so true. it’s just actually a sign that they’ve got some Gender™ going on which I like. i hope he gets to play soccer with tasuku i think they'd have a great time actually.

moving back towards chronological events… kumon’s fancy gold keychain! love how muku immediately launches into an explanation abt it lol. “in exchange for making its wielded the strongest of all humans, it sucks their life force. it’s a cursed sword that can kill its owner if used too much!” I immediately read into this the moment muku explained it lol. like muku does not say it out loud and kumon is embarrassed about being a nerd but the moment this showed up i was like "oh. this is absolutely how kumon sees himself. all that pitching skill but theres a curse that prevents him from using it." and like. its never stated out loud during this episode but its absolutely true to me. the scene rly made me think like ah. kumons both naturally funny and adorable? like the noises he makes when hes freaked out there r great. i think hes a guy that is naturally a Bit Much and that translated really well to natsugumi stages. i wanna tackle kumon's condition here since it was brought up... again i knew that he was dealing with some kind of recurring health problems before, but not the specifics! and so learning that he was essentially getting fevers caused by stress was very. too real tbh like i dont want to think abt getting panic attacks during my free time. but. no i thought it was really well handled. like how at first yamaguchi is like. hey. its not like u meant to get sick, right? but then as time goes on you can see how people begin to be like. oh he's doing this on purpose to fuck us over. or theyre like. is ur illness even real. maybe you're just faking because you're an asshole. this is weakling behavior. and you can see how deeply that affects kumon in the way that he talks to and judges himself. in the way that he's got this drive that feels downright desperate--like EVERYTHING is do or die for him, and that is, of course, only going to stress him out more. i really liked that even at the end, past the play's end, he was still running a fever--it was clear that the play had rly been taxing on him and he wasnt like, just magically cured! i thought azami's whole magic brush thing was so cute--like, it was so obvious how better it made kumon feel. to me it felt like the equivalent of like, taking the time to put on really nice clothing and cook something special after a major depressive episode--like, you give yourself a nice treat and it helps you believe in getting better. in the same way, i think azami's makeup worked sort of like a charm on him--it gave him the ability to look like death hadn't warmed over and that like. helped him relax because now the guy in front of the mirror looks like he has the exact amount of energy that he wants to have. but yeah. i thought it was handled really well and i loved how natsugumi were supportive of him. the way kumon wakes up and finds out his fever went down and then when hes going to announce it to misumi he finds everyone sleeping by him... so sweet. again natsugumi was just sooo dearly supportive of kumon and refused to let him back out, it was great. when they all hug him and comfort him on stage... that cg is sooo cute. oh the moment juza approached tsuzuru i immediately knew he was gonna give him kumons backstory lol. like tsuzuru knows people well but not That well. i thought it was nice how the way inoue is was exactly like how real life yamaguchi felt--that he wanted to support him as a battery. tsuzuru precog moment strikes again. also every time he's on that balcony writing i think abt mizuno.

well this is probably a good segue to talk abt the play so i shall do just that. this one is literally a direct parallel to real life events so theres not something like... super interesting i can give as commentary there, lol? but when i first watched the play i was like. tsuzuru... where's the "comedy" in sports comedy? watching the play in the actual chapters tho i definitely saw it--it relied a lot on the quirks of the individual players! and that scene at the end is quite fun ofc. was confused as to why it was like. love. but even the og play has hatsukoi in it. ig its abt them liking their manager? idk it felt a little confused lol. but it was a very nice play in some ways... i am like, a pretty huge sports manga fan ahah, so i definitely saw stuff that was similar. i think i've... read 4 different sports manga abt baseball? daiya no ace, oofuri, cross game, and the one no one will recognize, hybrid berry. kumon would lose it if he ever read oofuri, i think... the main pitcher is an anxious mess who selfishly refuses to give up the mound and he and the catcher have a really interesting relationship. the girl manager that is sad they cant play baseball is absolutely a thing in sports manga. yuki was so great as washiyama. like her pretending to be a guy and subbing in for the catcher worked great since yuki can like. convincingly play both a guy and a girl. also the way washiyama essentially blackmailed people into joining. iconic. the associated song was also cute! i thought it was interesting that tsuzuru wrote yuki's role in specific along with tenma and kumon--i guess it makes sense since that role requires someone to play a female role, but the quirks of the other baseball players--uehara as a shut in with surprising athleticism, ohno as a player scared of the ball, and enomoto as a guy always on his phone--mesh really well with the people who play them, dont they? like, i dont think kazunari or muku could pull off the same sense of athelticism. it was nice, anyways. plus if u reach u can parallel washiyama subbing in for inoue and it hurting her hands with yuki + natsugumi trying to leader substitute in tenma's absence.

worst transition ever? perhaps. but now i get to talk about that bit BECAUSE OH MY GOD, THAT BIT. like icha i'm dearly glad i was not given spoilers but on the other hand i feel like i needed a fucking warning. the PHONE CALL. the PHONE CALL!!!! im going to take a step back and comment on the whole situation actually since i didnt even address tenma's first audition. that whole bit was so good. the way tenma's like heh. i'll handle everything. and like as you pointed out, at that point kumon was gonna join akigumi if he passed the audition! but tenma was like. no hes Mine. i definitely figured the audition was gonna go bad--like, if tenma himself was like "i feel like im not there yet" about his own acting? but the way it was executed was so lovely--i wanted to be like "ah, tenma's come really far, hasn't he?" but i think tenma has always been serious about this part of acting--didn't he join summer troupe in order to challenge himself because he felt like he was deficient? so i actually had to reexamine like. why did i assume tenma would be hugely emotional about missing the role. probably because izumi worried about it? also bc i kept recognizing when they were saying "chance" and since kumon just had a stressful audition chance i was worried tenma was gonna feel a similar pressure and cave. but nah. as strange as it might seem, this was kind of perfectly in character for him, i think... he didn't get the role, and he saw someone absolutely outperform him during auditions, and respected that. if there's one thing tenma's learned from summer troupe it's to acknowledge other people and recognize their strengths. so this was a nice extension of that. so all he does is chill in the theater at midnight and relfect a little on his own performance. it was mature of him. i felt like i could see him blooming. as much as i like to make fun of tenma he's been an actor for quite some time--i bet mankai is one of the places he really gets to act like a kid, yknow? i thought it was nice how suprised everyone in natsugumi was--even if they make fun of him, he sure is their leader who has some pretty great acting skills, huh... anyways. to then see him get an offer, turn it down to focus on the play (bc he loves natsugumi!) and then see yuki get fully outraged at him for doing so! that got me! the "when push comes to shove, you really ARE just a hack, huh?!" escalating into him yelling "we all want to support you, tenma!" like. how many times had yuki said tenma's name ever. also like. the way he indirectly says that he doesn't even mean it when he calls tenma a hack. anyways im glad they resolved it. not used to seeing yuki be so obviously distraught. the gifts were so good too. misumi giving tenma a triangle so he doesn’t. so he. “so you don’t get lonely like you usually do!” im going to wail. and then tenma going “I don’t get lonely” okay liar. but then when tenmas like oh jeez yuki another shopping list? and then receives a baseball keychain… if i was him i wouldve cried immediately. like wow. they rly adore each other and will never admit it ever.

and then seeing tenma in france! Almost getting lost! And carrying around the keychain… and saying “…take care of the troupe while I’m gone, yuki.” oh my god. like i genuinely lost it at this moment. tenma and yuki r roommates and they. They care abt each other. like there’s no explicit communication that tenma is putting his trust in yuki specifically but like. Of course its him. Hes the one that yelled at tenma to go in the first place. Id hedge my bets that natsugumi was planning on talking to tenma anyways (bc they rush in so quick when yuki and tenma start fighting) which if we take that to be true, yuki literally started picking a fight with tenma bc there was literally nothing else he could see himself doing at that moment. And the way that as they’re rotating leader by leader yuki is the one that’s like. Kind of nagging at them—pointing out that kazunari could be more decisive, and telling muku that he should probably give suggestions on fixing things rather than like just saying. “We have problems!” like. It is so deeply obvious to me how aware yuki is of tenma’s presence and how aware he is of him. Not being here. But then when tenma calls him! And yuki’s like. Teasing him being like is this a prank call? But he’s still in the practice room at 10pm, just chilling by himself because he’s thinking about what he can do. to quote from my notes during this scene: “it is genuinely so cute they call—AHHHHH A CG!!!!! A CG!!!!!!!” yeah i lost my fucking mind are u kidding me. of course i did. but yeah tenma checks in on the troupe through yuki and once yuki confirms that tenma’s doing okay, he’s like. we’re fine. focus on your work. and then he says international calls are expensive and hangs right the fuck up. like. if yuki wasn’t feeling guilty abt not having seen any improvements on the play u know he and tenma would chat for longer and yuki would antagonize him into paying his phone bill or something. but yeah the just like. the dynamic here is so good. and once he runs into kumon and figures out what he’s gonna do its so good! I felt like. idk. yuki rly pulled through for this one and it was nice to see tenma come back, pleased as punch, and tell natsugumi they did well. It was rly a breath of relief like ah. the leader approves! and it felt like such a success, that yuki and natsugumi were able to handle it. Idk why the phone call got me so bad. I mean i do know its like. two of my favorite characters but. it was just a kind of very understated moment and like this whole sequence is… what? four chapters? it’s not a long part in the whole episode but it just absolutely got me. its just such like a quiet, kinda subtle moment with a lot of depth. Seeing them call each other from different parts of the world. the way they’re thinking about each other and caring for each other. the way you can see them instinctually trust each other after being at each other's throats at first and bickering all the time even now. Yeah.

speaking of shorter parts i loved kazunari’s little side thing! with him realizing that he sorta wants to do a bunch of stuff. i thought the ultra multi creator / UMVC thing was so funny. but it was real lovely to hear just a very normal parent that obviously adored kazunari exactly as he was. this was also how i first learned kazunari was a traditional japanese painting major. I genuinely had no idea. i do think its funny that his lil sis in a huge tenma fan. i think ive mentioned this before but there is a like noticeable increase in quality of the a3 posters as time goes on which i think is really cool. but wow tenma telling kazunari he has like only shallow friendships is truly so. I love that it stuck with kazunari this long but also tenma would be distraught that he remembered.

okay now time for all of the miscellaneous stuff i forgot to talk abt!

azamis voice is refreshingly lower than I thought it might be? but it fits him. I know he and sakyo r gonna be so fun… sakyo wondering what happened bc azami used to adoringly follow him around was so absolutely real. like oh ur his dad already i see. I also think kumon’s relationship with muku and juza r so interesting… muku knows some stuff, but not everying about kumon. and though kumon so obviously adores his big brother and juza has helped him before, the actual talking they do seems like not much. which felt kinda realistic.azamis voice is refreshingly lower than I thought it might be? but it fits him and i like it. i’m so excited abt his dynamic with sakyo seeing as he used to be rly attached… sakyo and his bos should square off for custody i think it’d be funny. i think its rly funny that yuki refused to play baseball bc he was acting as the manager. the manager plays baseball in one of the scenes its like the whole point. loved the kumon pitching cg. oh tenma was so good during that street act they did tho like. the way his va played that… u can hear him loudly announcing the show and stuff and then his voice immediately drops to this soft whisper to ask if kumons ok. so good. again i rly liked azami and kumon’s relationship… the fact that azami was just gonna fight yamaguchi unprompted was so good? but the way kumon is specifically like. dont injure his arms he needs them for baseball rly shows like. just how much kumon treasures the sport i think. very interested in who would azami not want to see at his worst… could be a throwaway convo lol. but i liked that azami walked him home and stuff. muku pestering yamaguchi into taking his ticket was so. wow. he’s rly gotten brave, hasn’t he? i thought juza and muku were so interesting in how they supported kumon during this bc like. they were both obviously supportive but like didnt solve everything? Which was cool bc they were still good siblings to kumon but kumon’s issues still felt like. understandable and stuff. like juza being harsh in the beginning re: kumon joining made total sense even tho like. clearly it ended up being good for him. gosh when juza and muku tell tenma and izumi everything it is so good to see tenma be like. well. its alright u kept stuff from me. kumon is fully part of natsugumi so we’ll take care of him. i just like seeing him be capable and he was so capable lol. also banri offering to be an understudy instead of juza! very sweet. love that he can only offer by antaognizing juza abt his acting skills. also love banri saying yuki will thrash juza if he acts bad specifically… bc banri and yuki r. friends… i also like that this in specific seems to give juza pause. my “juza is frightened by this middle schooler” hc seems legit. oh and i laughed when juza was like. well we gotta be baseball accurate so i’ll bring the clippers. what is up with hyodos and banris hair for real. hm. i also like how u can see the bookcase in kumon and misumis room has noticeably changed—feels like not just misumi lives there, now.

oh and the cute girls skit. best thing ever. every time they did it, i laughed. so i absolutely get why it cheered kumon up. again summer troupe is clearly so good at this. they should do a play. This had more romcom energy then the baseball play they actually performed. like kumon blushing. into mukumi announcing u look like a dog I used to have!! unmatched. and ofc theres juko. cmon… take one step closer for juza in a dress…

I also loved everyone telling kumon abt the troubles they had. like tenma had to be like. I look very capable now but i actually tanked our first play lmao. also i had trauma abt stage performance. also idk if it was intentional but i love how the dialogue when theyre discussing sardine search is like.

i think the last thing to discuss is the adlibs probably? the moment he was like concerned abt it i out loud went “fuck the fans” so that shows my position lol. but that for sure is summer troupe’s charm. I liked that in the end kumon’s adlib was just like? it was good. nicely in character. good response to. hang on washimiyas bf is MARRIED? but its not like he totally introduced a wild new direction or anything—the guy who started this was clearly tenma’s adlib as inoue. so i rly liked that it was like. competent but not amazing bc like… i think that would kind of reinforce kumon’s idea that he needs to “measure up” and be perfect. but here he’s just like. good at being part of natsugumi. and that’s all they need! i also know kumon originally wanted to join akigumi and i assume that’s bc he loves juza but i also wonder if some of it is bc akigumi is so clearly and obviously Strong. well. anyways for kumon i think being part of a troupe that makes him laugh is the best, in the end. i did think it was funny when the game went “acting isn’t like baseball. there are no winners and losers,” says a member of the troupe that had a literal competition against another troupe where winning was the most important thing ever.

and that’s all, i think! very good story im sure theres things i missed but. very good.

and HELP. the deadly pretty boy middle schooler squad. gotta love how quickly Kumon found him cool indeed. I also love how quickly and organically they started to get along! Azami really does have a lot of Yuki in his behavior doesn't he. i still love how the make up things ended up being mentioned like "oh i'm NOT letting you leave this backstage without some help. you need it." type. eheh loving the way you look at Azami's set up so far! And you're so right this CG could have been so nice… nerfed by the amount of official CG per chapter :/ looking forward the fanarts coming out of it ;D Azami truly does have some Gender going on and yeah. The dad sure is not being good there. AND! hell yeah for the soccer squad this is what they deserve. Give Tasuku some peace also to know that while his troupe is bad at sports he can make his own team somehow still.

NICE CATCH ON THE KEYCHAIN!!! it really does fit Kumon way too much :sob: Kumon is indeed so likeable like, the actor really does such a nice job at conveying just how open and exhuberant he is, but also just how soft he can be. really funny and adorable like you say, perfect for Summer.

as for Kumon's condition, welcome to the specifics! I also really connected with Kumon on this because oof, chronic illness like that is no joke and especially when it's stuff triggered by stress it's just… it feels never ending bc then you stress about being stressed and it gets worse in worse. And even though it's obviously not his fault, the way other people started to perceive his sickness influenced how he saw himself and it really became even more worse and he became so scared to fail people which just meant more stress, so, more guilt… man his story was so effective it made me feel really emo.

Azami helping him out with the brush was so cute :sob: a little placebo in a sense. I do love how Kumon still was stressed but he managed to push through still. a bit like Tenma was still hella stressed in his first plays but managed to push through enough to now be comfortable about it. Natsugumi meanwhile taking care of him and being so supportive is so sweet :sob: Summer are all genuinely so good, and when you take into account all the problems they had to deal with one another… Tenma's stagefright, Yuki's indecissiveness for the future, Kazunari's anxiety about not being what others people would want out of him, Muku's own insecurities and his own history with "failing" his sportsmates because of health, with also Misumi's big brother's instinct kicking in… everyone had made some little work on their side on their own anxieties that i think they could see a bit of their journey in Kumon and went yeah, we'll take care of him, and it was such a good support for them. and DLKFJDLKF Tsuzuru's powers, all knowing, and when he doesn't know, people will come to him to update his character files. but also mood for the balcony.

DLKFDLKF yeah i feel like, Summer's plots could be seen as "not comedy", but in the end it's all about the banter and the way Summer will improvise stuff with their high energy, they probably have more room to improvise and all. BUT YEAH the love thing always was surprising to me, i guess yeah they're in love with their manager but it doesn't feel like it should be the focus?? or perhaps it's about the love of the game?? Or Tsuzuru should come out already and tell us the romance between Tenma and Kumon's characters was explicitly that this time come O- and omg, really ready for the sports story mood i see. I hope Kumon got to read this manga. perhaps he even recommanded it to Tsuzuru? Yuki's character was so fun and it felt so Yuki, it was so great. But yess the roles were pretty nice.

it's a perfect transition no worries AND HELL YEAH. No warning we get murdered by phonecalls like people who cry over a3. I'm so glad you weren't spoiled considering it was Made Just For You, it was so nice to see it shook you enough to post about it also :'D Everything you say about Tenma's audition is so spots on and so good :sob: he's so good… It's in moment like that that yeah you remember just that he is a professional who can accept things going in one way or another pretty maturely, and no doubt summer did make him even better at that. like yeah he learnt to be more silly and more of a kid with Summer, but it also helps him adding new outlook on his perspective. it's pretty nice. AND GOD YEAH. THAT. YEAH. THE WHOLE SCENE WITH YUKI WAS SO NICE. Tenma loves Natsugumi and Natsugumi loves him back so much the gifts scene was also so damn sweet like. god i love those kids so much.

AND YEAH… YEAH. MAN. Tenma and Yuki did come a very long way but they trust each other so deeply at this point it's just so heartwarming to see. No CG of Kumon and Azami bUT a CG of Tenma and Yuki calling each other! We still come out of here winning!! and yeah i totally understand what you mean about the whole scene and the whole dynamic of this specific arc. I think that approaching their dynamic with physical distance showed just how close they have grown emotionally speaking and it was just. so damn nice to see. It was such a nice arc.

Kazunari's little side thing! yeah it's really nice to see Kazunari just.. want more? I think it also shows he's growing more confident in himself that he just wants to try everything now. His little sis being fan of Tenma is really soft, no wonder Kazunari kept taking pictures of Tenma when they met. And yeah!!! honestly it's like, of course quality gets better as the app grows and everything on a doylist perspective because yeah, the devs get better, they get better fundings, you even see it at times from how prettier the art composition of some of the cards become. But in universe, since the posters are Kazunari's doing, it really also bring home that it's Kazunari!! who's growing as well. It's so nice. but god yeah. i love how things really do have an impact in a3? like conversations from years ago still matter so deeply for the characters. It's so nice.

ooh nice that you like Azami's voice :3c promising set up with his relationship with Sakyo and yeah. Sakyo was already a dad, bless him. The Hyodo/Sakisaka dynamic is indeed pretty interesting, like… yeah they're cousins but that doesn't mean they were that close until they started acting, but now they're all together in this. and yeah makes sense that Juza still was a bit distant in the sense of, he's socially awkward and keeping to himself a lot even regarding his little brother. Yuki refusing to play the baseball game while he gets to play later in the play is indeed pretty funny. Kumon's CG is pretty nice toooo, it shows how serious he is for baseball and still how much of his conflict comes from how serious he is about what he loves. (kinda contrast also how Chikage's solo CG was him with his coin, something that shows the way he deceives people but ultimately that he can't keep fooling Sakuya with and ends up being the cataclyst in staying with Spring bc of the coin toss. Like the solo CG tell us a lot about them and their arc in general). Tenmaaaaa<333 Eguchi Takuya always delivers in term of voice acting, and i love how he looks out for Kumon :sob: AND SO true about the Azami and Kumon's relationship and the way Azami was ready to square up for Kumon. It was so nice to see, they have a nice dynamic. Muku has indeed got very brave!! and even braver when he does thing for other people in general (a continuation both of him standing up for Yuki in the first chapter, and how he went to confront the Ikaruga family for Misumi as well) but yesss their dunamic together was so so nice, they knew some stuff but of course they couldn't solve everything… i think it's like, esp with stress, when family tells you you do well it's just yeah sure, that's what family says. i feel like, with setting up Kumon being so attached to Juza, it was important that his arc ends up being about him looking for something /for himself/ instead, and finding good things outside of him. But yeah Juza was just worried :sob: he just comes off as much roughter in general. aND YEAH…. Tenma immediately enforcing that Kumon is his responsability is soft. AND YEAH THE BANRI SCENE. WAS REALLY CUTE. Hell if Banri actually shows he cares, he needs to be mean to Juza to make it work. think about his reputation smh. BANRI AND YUKI FRIENDSHIP MY BELOVED. And yeah Juza still values Yuki's opinion enough to be frightened. More than by Banri at least lmao. AND DLKFJDKLFJD rip Banri's hair. and yeah sobbs it's so nice.

omg yeah the cute girl skit was really so sweet and funny. It's a recurring thing too like, remember when Muku was stressed out during their first improv with Yuki and Yuki went on with the cute girl thing? Tenma roasted them at that moment bc "all they did is change their pitch a bit", and now they perfected it so well that it's Purely Cheer Up Material… sobs. JUZA IN A DRESS WHEN PLEASE. WHO DO WE HAVE TO BEG.

DLKJFDLKF YEAH it's so nice that they really like, work to make Kumon part of the team? like he gets to know the stuff he missed as well, he's up to date with them all. BUT YEAH the transition for Sardine search is really funny.

BUT YEAAH AAH the adlibs stuff were so nice. I still find that ending so funny, i love how everyone managed to roll with it… and very good observation for why Kumon wanted to join Akigumi. He probably felt like it could help him measure up to the expectations he had put on himself, managing to be cooler and surpassing himself physically considering those were the things he felt he lacked. But in the end he needed just to find his own path and coming to term with what he actually needed. AND LDKJFKDLJFKLFD Kumon: it has no winner or loser! Tsumugi still half reeling from what happened during his first play: :). yeah :) totally :) completely :).

- Dave is pretty new to relationships, but he tries to be as cliche and romantic as he is able without letting his cool guy act be sabotaged.

- he does worry a lot, so he does get a bit protective at times. Given everything he’s gone through, naturally he fears something could happen to you.

Dirk relationship hcs

- oh boy

- well, he’s extremely grateful you’re dating him, he’s pretty self aware that he’s not dating material. Or at least, thinks he isn’t.

- of course, there will be some problems to work through in your relationship, he needs somebody who can get him to open up and talk about his emotions. It’s hard but he can succeed if he tries at it.

- he would hesitate for a long time to tell you how he felt about you, but I think his friends would be really encouraging about it.

- plus yknow… Hal … would probably do something

- speaking of, Hal does a lot of things to embarrass dirk and expose him for his affections to you, even while you’re dating.

- “he totally lovesssss you” “no I don’t” “he wants to kisssss youuu” “shut up”

- it takes awhile for him to be affectionate, and to truly express emotions very freely. However, when he does, he does.

- he won’t get too sappy on you, but he’s a lot better at expressing himself than at the beginning of your relationship. If you say “I love you” he says it back, and may even say it first on days he’s feeling particularly softer than usual

- he typically likes buying you things, it’s mainly how he shows affection

- he gets awkward at first with physical affections, but he grows to love it. Never initiates it though, even though he wants to.

- usually the most cuddly when you’re both sleepy and tired

here's a list of things i love about PSMD for no reason other than i think it deserves appreciation (spoilers)

the hero gets adopted by a nuzleaf. Hero, a young child that doesn't know why they were brought into this world, attacked by beheeyem, scared and alone, finds someone that takes them under his wing and gives them a home. it's really sweet that once Nuzleaf brings them to the Village, Hero's not alone anymore.

yes it was all a trick, he deceived you. but being betrayed by your father figure hits so much harder. it's much more personal, especially when both Hero and Partner are kids. and when Nuzleaf goes through all that ordeal in the post game, then gets accepted back into the village?? And his little speech to Hero????? it's heartbreaking and incredibly touching at the same time

everything is just so cute!!!! you go to school with your new friendo and you're friends with the schoolkids, and you make the trip to school every morning taking in the scenery, the smell of dew and fresh grass, and the sun on your face... and you take classes about Mystery Dungeon mechanics, and principal Simipour is a big BRO, the school nurse Audino is super kind and helpful... and you get to play with your pokemon friendos in summer vacation, and explore a dungeon with 'em... AND your bond with your Partner begins to form, getting stronger and stronger from then on. PSMD's beginning arc is so warm and pleasant, it's like reliving childhood memories all over again, when things were happier and you didn't have to worry about how cruel the world is. this story section's one purpose is to get the player used to the game's mechanics, as well as foreshadowing. unfortunately most of the school kids get forgotten later on, but I still love this part for everything it is, even if unintentional.

it's not just the beginning that's cute. PSMD'S ENTIRE WORLD IS ADORABLE. It's just filled with life every town you go. there are a bunch of pokemon locals and they all have interesting things to say, in the main story and the post-game. there's a point where their comments get repetitive, but that's bound to happen in any PMD game. Even then, the days are never the same. one morning you wake up and the Lively Town locals are exercising, then the next they're having singing lessons, and then they're practicing martial arts. and you get to connect with (or recruit) some of them just by.... chatting!!! Sitting next to that big ol' venusaur and sharing stories, laughing and having fun. it's good stuff.

Sometimes you find travelling pokemon in dungeons and it's jsut the coolest thing. Imagine you're exploring a dungeon, then your Connection Orb notifies you there's a fellow explorer in the floor. First thing you do is try to find them, and when you do - oh dang a travelling Archeops!!!! And then they just,,,, exchange their experiences and thoughts on exploration and how hard it is to fend off those enemies and the cool treasure they found the other day (the game calls it "[Team Name] and [Traveller pokemon] compared notes"). then the traveller heals you, fills your belly and restores your PP. and they go on their way. idk man it's such a cute interaction. explorers chatting, empathizing and helping each other, bc their job is not an easy one...

PSMD Partner is the most developed Partner in any PMD game yet. They start off as this naive, hyperactive kiddo, then stuff happens, and worse stuff happens, and you get to see how they grow and change and by the end they're a different person than they were before (in more than one way ...). It's just so nice to be by their side, from the beginning to the bitter end, and watch their growth. in contrast, Hero is a little unbalanced in that their backstory is not explored as much, and their personality is kind of a blank - probs meant to be vague so the player can be in their shoes. to me this just gives you the opportunity to shape their character however you want, so you can have tons of different hero/pardner dynamics.

The music is rlly flippin' good. Some of the tracks are recycled from previous entries, but when they go original??? it's a blast!!! "Echoes of the Mystical Forest" is one of my favorites in all four entries, it has no right being so amazing for a random dungeon. "Time to Set Out" makes me cry immediately (also i think it would be a better fit for the parting ways scene at the end...). Don't even get me started on "Second Dark Matter Battle", it has everything an epic climax needs and MORE. the Partner remix????? absolute genius

speaking of which, Dark Matter ITSELF,, is freaking amazing. Its actions were foreshadowed in the very beginning, though they were not blatant through the game. i do think they could have done a better job at showing the pokemon's negativity raising in the world, as well as negative feelings in the characters... but it's not like Gates did a good job at it, either (outside of cutscenes, all the locals in Post Town are incredibly nice to you and fights didn't "break out often". it's like the game tells you the world is a dark place, but what it shows in gameplay doesn't add up). so i'll cut them some slack. Still, I find Dark Matter a more compelling villain than the Bittercold for several reasons. it is sentient. its speech is a jumbled amount of voices all talking at the same time - the anguished voices of the world. It actually concocted a plan to hurl the planet into the Sun, using pawns like Nuzleaf and Yveltal to do its dirty job. in the Voidlands, Hero and Partner discover its past, and how it'll come back after defeat, like a cycle. when Partner accepts Dark Matter, they accept negative feelings as something everyone has within themselves. Most of all, the fact that Dark Matter is a manifestation of negative feelings doesn't make it just a generic threat, a final obstacle to be defeated so the world can be saved. It makes Dark Matter - negativity itself - a natural part of the world, the yin to its yang. and that's why I LOVE IT SO MUCH DANG IT EVEN THANKS PARTNER FOR THEIR ACCEPTANCE

The fact that Dark Matter can possess pokemon that have "even the smallest amount of darkness in their hearts". it makes me think of Mr. Nuzleaf and what he might have gone through in the past to make him so easy to be controlled. Did he hold a grudge against someone?? Did he commit a crime?? Had Nuzleaf always been malicious???? And if so, is this why he shows so much remorse in the post-game??????? because he had always been this vile fiend and then he met this small kid and got attached, but still carried on with his evil actions because his malice was still stronger than the positive feelings and Dark Matter's hold on him intensified?????? I don't know!!!! and as much as i wish the game could have given us that sweet mr. Nuzleaf backstory, it's pretty fun to have freedom to come up with your own version.

Everything about Super's climax is just phenomenal. Every single flippin' legendary is there to help you. Arceus is in the game. MEWTWO IS THERE. and when things are looking hopeless, they really seem hopeless. First the Tree of Life is dying, then your allies get turned into stone and sent to hell The Voidlands, Arceus gets turned into stone, the entire world is stone (except for several mon' that are still safe and holding onto hope, but they're so few). Your Harmony Scarves stop working and you and your Partner are back to your feeble, basic stage forms. You are bordering exhaustion, you have no Emeras, it's just you and your Partner against an eldritch abomination that's killing the life on the entire planet like a parasite, devouring all hope. but you still fight back. Given how adults in the game always discourage the village children from going adventuring, that they cannot do this or that because they're so little and fragile, it's awesome how Hero and Partner beat Dark Matter as tiny kids.

PSMD is not a flawless game. in fact there's plenty of things that hold it back and i even mentioned some... but it's still full of love put into it and it resonates w me more than PMD Explorers of T/D/S and Gates to Infinity (Rescue Team is a close second). its my all-time favorite PMD game.

The idea of Satan being like every fanfic character and being able to pick out all sorts of smells from anything is hysterical lmao

I’m only at, like, lesson 39, so if this is either disproven or comes up as canon in the later lessons, Oops. So some of these will be more random/Vibe based, and some might have some justification I pull from canon like aspects of the characters’ personalities or canon interests bc, well, even when extrapolating/taking a canon character and saying “mine now”, I tend to like to refer to the source material.

So without further ado!

Random Hyperfixations/Interests the Brothers Have (At Least, According To Me)

Lucifer

Birding

No, not birdwatching

Birding

What is birding, you ask? Well it’s basically birdwatching but much more meticulous and aggressive

Birdwatchers tend to just kinda chill somewhere or set up a bird feeder and admire whatever shows up, maybe look up some local birds to better identify them when they see them

Birders(?) are like mf Pokemon trainers: Gotta Spot Them All! Birdwatching is a much more active hobby for them, they will literally drive out a couple hours just to see a bird they’ve never seen before and record it

I think this fits Lucifer because he is absolutely the kind of person who would try birdwatching and get super competitive about it

(No shade to birding, I just find it really funny that there’s a name for what is basically “INTENSE BIRDWATCHING”)

Anyway, Lucifer has probably been responsible for several discoveries of new bird species in the Devildom, and is well-known amongst ornithologists, who may or may not stalk him on his bird-ventures because the odds of him finding something new and exciting are quite high

Mammon

Idk why exactly but I feel like he’d be big into drumming? Most kinds of percussion, really

There’s something really tactile and stimmy about a drum set that I think Mammon would appreciate

I don’t know a lot about the technique of drumming, but I love a good beat, and rhythm is the foundation of music

Plus he could totally do streams and take (paid) requests every now and then

But mostly I think this would be something he just does himself

To relax, to have fun, to vent out any pent up Feelings

His drums are kept in a separate music room that is magically soundproofed tho because he has a tendency to get the urge to play at odd hours

And that has caused Problems in the House in the past

Leviathan

Okay, we all know Levi is into collecting, especially fandom merch and the like

But I think he’s also into Swords

Don’t get me wrong, he probably has some decorative and/or nerdy swords

But I do also mean like Actual Historical and Modern Swords

Cursed swords, enchanted swords, ordinary swords that are just Really Cool looking or have an interesting history behind them…

He can’t display them all at once, but he has a comprehensive organization system for them as well as a giant binder with all the information about them

A lot of his finds come from his underwater explorations of Devildom and human world seas and oceans

Like Lucifer, he’s got professionals who occasionally stalk him because of this

But they’re gonna have to be faster than him at actually finding the weapons bc once he’s got it in his sights, he’s not exactly keen on letting someone else take it

The Devildom Royal Museum has been in deep negotiations with him for centuries about displaying parts of his collection in personal exhibits but he’s been pretty stubborn

It’s not fair, he’s the one who found them, why do they get to take them away?!

However, as space becomes increasingly limited, Levi might have to concede some ground...

Satan

Straight up amateur archeology/whatever the Devildom equivalent of urban exploration would be

Satan’s a huge nerd, so it stands to reason that he’d be into visiting old ruins in the Devildom and see if he can find anything interesting

Archeology is basically like uncovering the mysteries of the past, and he’s big into detective stuff already

He probably finds the research afterwards just as interesting too

He has definitely let his grades slip a bit while following up on a particularly promising trip

Unlike Levi, if he finds something of value/interest, he has no problem handing it over to actual historians and the like, but he wants to be involved in the Process

He refuses to call the emotion he feels when seeing his name on an exhibit’s plaque “pride”, but...

Asmodeus

Heavy metal :)

So very few people know

Lots of people have heard Asmo sing, and a few have heard him scream for… certain reasons

But practically no one has heard him really scream

Part of him is slightly insecure about liking something that some might find unbecoming

But mostly he likes to keep it secret because he finds it deeply amusing to drop small hints about it and see people’s reactions

There may or may not be an underground Devildom metal band with a suspiciously charming singer who can go from the most primal growls to the crispest cleans without a hitch

I just really like the idea of Asmo dressed like a metalhead okay? He has the range!!

Beelzebub

Woodworking

This one is totally random, I have zero justification for it

I just think it’d be neat

Big things, small things, decorative things, functional things

Woodworking is a very physically and mentally involved process (unless you wanna lose a finger), so I imagine it’d be very grounding for Beel

Plus, bringing food into the woodshop would likely end terribly so if he’s looking to beat his cravings without emptying the fridge, that’s a plus

Now, my sleep-deprived brain supplies, has he ever tried to carve something with his teeth like a beaver? Well

I’m gonna say yes, but only once and it went poorly

He probably also does, uh… idk what it’s Officially Called, but when you burn/engrave stuff into wood with a heated metal stick

For some Sad Boy Hours, he’s definitely made something in tribute to Lilith and placed it at her tombstone

Belphegor

I’m gonna cheat a little bit bc while I don’t think it’s been brought up in canon, we do see it in his dance battle sprites… Ballet

It is the One Single Physical Activity Belphie’s into, and no it’s Not because ballet is easier than other activities

If ballet’s the base of your dance knowledge, you can do a lot of different styles with it, using a variety of techniques

But I imagine Belphie’s style is more classical leaning

He will literally do exercises in place to stay awake, his core is excellent

He can go on pointe, but because he sometimes takes long breaks from dance it may take him a while to build his strength back up to do it safely

Also it is now my headcanon that one of those breaks did not take place during his attic-captivity, because what would piss Lucifer off more than the THUNKS of Belphie’s slippers at odd hours?

❤️I’ve noticed that people who have venus unaspected in their chart are incredibly attractive idk why???

👸Moon trine/conjunct venus is such a nice placement to have in regards to people in general but especially to the opposite sex. I feel like ppl tend to treat you more gently and kindly bc of it’s feminine energy. It gives a prince/princess charm to the natives mannerisms bc they’re so kind and warm! -this one is a LITTTLEE easy i will admit but,,,Cat,,,,,it just fits!!!!

-he's very good at just kind of. dealing with whatever it is that you kinda throw at him. if you randomly decide you wanna try and take up all the space on his bed (good luck, its fucking Big) that's ok, he'll just lay down next to you somehow. if you decide you wanna lay on him then whoops!! he's stuck there till you get up now lol. (the amount of times deimos and sanford come back from missions and just see him sitting on the couch with you laying on his lap is uncountable,,,each time he just makes a gesture for them to be quiet so they dont wake you)

-VERY gentle w/ you, especially after becoming a mag. he always pets you very carefully with his more normal hand because he's scared of hurting you (there was one time he'd accidentally nicked you a little with his claws and he felt SO bad, kept fussing and asking if you were alright afterwards)

-anyways. you run circles around him its crazy, you two playfight and roughouse a lot. however he did have to ban you from biting too hard because you accidentally drew blood one time,,,,,u were apologetic and you kept checking the wound to make sure it was ok and that he was doing alright,,he wont admit it but he thought it was funny to see you all worried abt him, teases you about it but you just bare your fangs (jokingly) and threaten to do it again. he just gets flustered and rolls his eyes with a little scoff.

-you make a lot of like. squeaks and yips when you're excited or otherwise kinda worked up and he thinks they're real funny. he tries to imitate them but he ends up failing and 10/10 you hear his voice crack BUT he still considers it a win when it makes you laugh so :)

-admittedly he does poke and prod a lot lmao. he likes to trace your paws and to kinda. brush against your claws a little because he thinks they're really cool. also again this mans fucking weird, he's stuck his hand in your mouth before because he wanted to fuck w/ ur sharp teeth again. you bit him. he does not do this anymore.

-it is. admittedly. a little nerve wracking. to be nonhuman. in a lab that sometimes experiments on people. and nonhuman people. for some kind of obvious reasons. so he gets a little nervous about that sometimes. he does his best to kind of keep you out of serious trouble bc of that, keeps you away from phobos or any of his higher ups like him as much as he possibly can because he's scared of what they might do to you :[

-ON A MORE LIGHT HEARTED NOTE,,,u two stay up pretty late at the lab a lot. you just kinda help him out and you both get carried away. it's not an uncommon sight to any night guards or janitors to see you both talking in the dark with only like. a kinda dim lamp on as you both work. its like 1/4 you actually getting things done and 3/4s you two just talking about whatever comes into mind, he shows his more casual and laid-back nature in these moments especially. also not uncommon for people to see you both passed out in his lab curled up against eachother lol

-pets you absentmindedly a lot,,he isn't sure why he does it he just!! does!! he just kinda subconsciously reaches for you (sometimes you have to kinda. put your head under his hand for him which he appreciates). also likes messing with ur paws and claws a little, he's a lot more careful though since he's nicked himself on your nails before

Okay, you asked (well, @chemistink asked), so here is my running journal of thoughts about Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan. Please note that there is no real organization, rhyme or reason to these bullet points. Also note I am largely going off the anime, and I am not current on the manga, so uhhh yeah excuse me if any of this has been contradicted. CONTAINS SPOILERS. Cut for this and for length bc THIS IS LONG WOW

this show really do got that whole "developing family dynamic between a bunch of fuck-ups suffering through life" done pretty well, hitting you in the face right from the title. As a fellow fuck-up who once had a job with a work family like this, I can't imagine why this speaks to me /s

Despite my shipping preferences, I do get and appreciate that the work family dynamic informs the overall relationship between the cast. Under all the gags and hijinks, they've all got each other's backs. It's cool to see a work family portrayed in this way, as a dynamic that can form because of and in spite of a job, a company, and life impersonally and relentlessly fostering a disconnection from yourself and the stuff that matters. And like, as much fun as UraUsa is to ship, I also get that the stage cast, in their own varying ways, first and foremost admire and revere Uramichi as the big brother of their work family.

I wonder about Utano as Uramichi's and the casts' work big sister-- and whether she's *actually* his bio sister who ran away form home at 16 is definitely curious to consider. But even if she isn't, I get a strong sense that she just happens to be exactly like who his real sister would be if she were on the show.

Each of the main cast annoys, confuses, and amazes each other on the regular, and on top of life generally sucking. And life sucking especially hard in showbiz. But it's really nice to recognize that genuine human connection is what makes all the bullshit bearable, no matter how brief or individual that connection is. And that shared suffering is interpersonal glue.

Uramichi says he suffers through work because he wants to live - something most of us working class can connect with - but it's also made very clear that he doesn't just phone it in. It's clear the man busts his ass everyday because it's meaningful to the kids, which in turn is meaningful to him. However, the kids' show definitely isn't just random setting for the show. I think it's also pretty clear that Uramichi does what he does because he's also been in an extended mourning of his own childhood, and trying to regain some of the pure childhood joys he missed out on due to his strict and demanding father. He's therefore MUCH like Iketeru in this regard-- the latter of which has a veneer of being funny and adorable, but whose situation is actually just as fucked up and tragic as Uramichi's. Dick Feynman.

Look, I am down with most ships, and I am not about pissing in anyone’s cereal, it’s just that UraUsa's happens to be the shiniest ball of them all for me right now. Judge if you must. But I enjoy that their diametrically-opposed personalities create a balanced friendship, even if they seem to get along like oil and water. Or sodium and water.

On some level, they prob recognize that they each have something to learn from one another to achieve a happier balance in their lives. For Uramichi, it's how to smile and let go, and be less serious. And for Usahara, it's the opposite-- he could stand to be more serious and responsible. It's a telling sign of affection when they both show changes in behavior due to one anothers' dispositions & examples. For example, one of the first and only times in the show we see Uramichi smile, genuine and unforced, is when Usahara's in pain being his goofy, carefree self.

Usahara in turn, is moved by Uramichi's more serious approach to things, like his twisted ankle in college. Uramichi is the cause of one of the first and only times we see Usahara to do a responsible thing for himself by going to the clinic.

You could argue that they are both childish in different ways, and compared to the rest of the cast, they're all in various states of arrested development. Isn't that what a lot of adulthood really is about, though? Managing yourself as an overgrown child, and figuring out where to find the magic after it all seems to fade away?

All the above doesn't even touch on the psychological analysis you could probably delve into regarding Usahara controlling and voicing the hand puppet of Kotori-san, Uramichi's sleep demon. A demon who asks the types of questions Uramichi wants to avoid. A demon that uramichi can talk back to in the form of Usahara. This is one onion I'm a little scared to peel.

Speaking of sleep demons. Mine was a big giant 100-legged cockroach on my ceiling, and this show only makes me wish it had been holding a giant baguette. Or 100 tiny baguettes

But circling back to UraUsa, I'm not convinced that the series will actually be ballsy enough to ever go for it outright, but I do have to wonder about some of the deliberate creative decisions going on with Usahara. I'm probably projecting my bisexuality/biromance like nothing else, but like...the hairclip. Being first in line point out Uramichi's specific tastes, wants to be up in Uramichi's biz 24/7, or that he's hot. That weird, awkward denial about Uramichi having a girlfriend in college (idk if I was missing something here but right now, yep, that happened). Or pot calling the kettle black when he accuses Kumatani of being an Iketeru wikipedia article. Or the fact that Capellini's character homes in on Usahara like no one else.

IMO the boundary-trouncing queen character gets my hackles up as a rather tired stock trope to see rear its head in an otherwise thoughtful comedy, but I also get that she refers to herself 'onee' and that this type of irony is in line with the show. TBH I have mixed feelings since she's not the worst example, and there are some moments I can appreciate.

But putting this aside, I bring her up because it's hard not to wonder at the function of Capellini as something like a lgbtq+ dowsing rod pointing to Usahara because in my experience, us non-straights tend to be pretty good at detecting and gravitating to one another.

Then there's EPISODE 12. Shit, jesus god. More on that later.

But on the other hand, there's Utano. The guy she's dating is an unsuccessful, aspiring comedian, from Kansai, afraid of bugs, and who needs her to be his mommy, yet she feels pressured to stick with him in the hopes he'll get around to marrying her. Usahara is also an aspiring comedian, also from Kansai, is also unsuccessful, is also afraid of bugs, and is also reliant on more responsible people to take care of him. This parallel puts my eyebrows in a goodamn twist.

It especially puts my eyebrows in a twist when we are shown Usahara fleeing to Uramichi for protection from a bug in the exact same episode we learn about Utano's bf's bugphobia. My brain both loves and hates stuff like this

UraUsa also frequently has coordinated colors and/or patterns, suggesting alignment. Ditto Kumatani and Iketeru. Utano also coordinates with Usahara and Uramichi.

Okay, I'm ready to discuss Episode 12. The episode where we learn Usahara has held some uh...intense and complex feelings for Uramichi since college.

This is the remark toward the start of Episode 13 that bookends a giant segment where Usahara, after believing that Uramichi was quitting the show, goes through a downward spiral of panic and drunken mourning in Episode 12. A whole ass episode featuring Usahara's personal devastation over the thought of Uramichi leaving him behind. A whole ass episode that also took us down memory lane and underscored that while usahara has always had a carefree and irresponsible type of personality, and is uramichi's polar opposite in many ways, he's sharp as a tack about Uramichi as a person and genuinely adores admires him underneath all his (usahara's) nervousness about him. A whole ass episode I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of, but I will mention that it also features Usahara wondering whether his fate with Uramichi was bound by AN ACT OF GOD at one point

Kumatani is also shown in the same ep to have developed his own opinion and bond for Uramichi, too, albeit in his much more subtle, understated, and contrasted way. However, I just find it interesting how Kumatani looks at Usahara after having been the star witness to his entire freakout:

...and having known all along that Uramichi was not in fact leaving the show. He says he didn't tell usahara because usahara didn't ask...and I'm willing to take his word at face value. However, Kumatani is also someone who's been shown to be a huge sweetheart and is fiercely protective of his work family, so his decision also reads like he didn't want to interrupt while Usahara was working his feelings out, but idk. Maybe he also wants in on an UraUsa love sandwich, and I can't say I'd be upset with this outcome either.

tanjirou is actually affectionate in every way!! he loves physical affection because it’s the most soothing to him, but he’s always complimenting you or giving you gifts, too. he likes receiving affection the same way, but isn’t disappointed if you don’t. (he understands people show their love in different ways, so it doesn’t hurt him at all! as long as you know how much he appreciates you, he’s fine.)

b = best friend (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)

it’s likely he met you at the final selection or during one of his missions, and he took a liking to you immediately. you met nezuko by accident, passively pointing out that “there was a demon in his box.” he immediately shielded it, but seeing how you didn’t make any advances calmed him.

as a best friend, he respects you so much!!! seeing you with the others makes him happy too. he’s always doing acts of service to help you, and giving you advice that urokadaki or the hashira gave him!!

c = cuddles (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)

tanjirou really loves cuddles! (he likes physical affection in general, really.) it makes him feel like you’re both safe.

he’s okay with any position, but he prefers to be able to see your face. he also really likes talking to you while cuddling!

he’s great at cooking + cleaning since he helped take care of his siblings! i hc that he’s really good at baking, so he’ll often make random food for you and the others. :)

in terms of settling down, his dream was literally just to move in with you and the others, and to actually be able to do that meant so much!

honestly? tanjirou doesn’t get jealous. he respects you enough to know you wouldn’t cheat on him, so if he ever sees someone flirting with you he trusts you to tell them you’re taken.

since tanjirou always woke up so early when he lived with his family, it’s a habit that stuck with him! staying in bed after he wakes up makes him feel restless, so he’ll normally just kiss your forehead and get up

before bed, he always makes tea! it helps him sleep better and he hopes it helps you too. right before you go to sleep, he likes asking about your day or dumb stuff that inosuke did

it won’t take to long for him to tell you about his family. he just wants to make sure he can trust you!! he won’t want to talk about it often though, considering how recent they died

when fighting demons, he would give you space to fight but also keeps an eye on you to make sure nothing happens.

he puts in so much effort. he really wants to make sure you know how much he loves you, so he always puts effort into little things like everyday tasks! like i said in q, he listens to you very carefully which can help him make really nice gifts!

he also makes sure he never forgets something like your birthday or an anniversary, as he knows that it would hurt.

pretty much not at all! besides making sure he looks clean, he’s proud of not having self esteem issues in that regard.

in a way? he really doesn’t like the idea of depending so much on someone, especially since if something happened he wouldn’t know what to do. he has nezuko and the others, so if something were to happen to you he would be able to heal. (it doesn’t mean it would hurt any less, however.)

he loves singing! i know that it’s canon he’s a shitty singer, but shhh he’s good at it

when he’s on missions, he’s a vv light sleeper, but whenever he’s with you somewhere safe he sleeps a lot better!!

Lovebirds (Komori x Reader)

pure Komori fluff bc this man doesn’t get enough love

FINALLY, you had a day off from work where you could watch one of your boyfriend’s games.

He was the official libero for the EJP Raijin, and he had been begging you with those big brown eyes for you to come see him in action.

You thought he just wanted to show off his super cool volleyball moves, but it was actually because he wanted to show you off to his team. Not disrespectfully of course- you weren’t some object. He just wanted to show everyone on his team why he was so in love.

So when he saw you in one of his jerseys, his heart almost exploded.

You were seated close to the court where all of the other athletes’ guests sat, and he literally couldn’t take his eyes off of you.

You were seated next to Osamu, Suna’s boyfriend, and looked like you were having a good time. A big smile appeared on his face. He had personally asked Suna to invite Osamu so you would have a familiar face in the crowd, and so that Osamu could explain all his super cool plays.

Komori seemed to lose track of time watching you have fun because he jumped a little when the captain called his name to line up for the game.

“Komori! We gotta go, stop looking at your girlfriend!”

He blushed before rushing over to line up with the rest of the team.

As the announcer was introducing the two teams, he felt Suna nudge him gently.

“Look, (y/n)-chan is looking at you with heart eyes.”

The brown-haired libero looked over at you in the stands, and saw you with the brightest smile. Upon making eye contact, he saw you waving and jokingly blowing him kisses to which he pretended to receive all of them.

His fans started screaming, and you could feel yourself blush a little when you started hearing people talking in the stands.

The fans around you were whispering, “Who’s that girl? Is that Komori-senshu’s girlfriend? Who is that? She’s so pretty…”

You were starting to get a little overwhelmed at the sudden attention, but you snapped out of it when Osamu gently patted your hand.

“Hey, don’t worry about it. They did that when I first came to Rin’s game. The fans are actually really supportive.”

You smiled appreciatively and nodded, “Thanks Osamu-kun.”

Osamu grinned and stretched his arms above his head, “It’s your first time watching Komori, right? Wait till you see how cool our boys look.”

And oh boy Osamu was absolutely right. Your boyfriend looked so cool.

He was able to receive any ball that the blockers failed to, and as Osamu explained, he got the ball right where the setter needed it.

It was insane how he received any serves, and you couldn’t stop looking at how good he looked, especially with those muscles.

The match ended with a EJP Raijin win where they took all of the sets.

You were so proud because the last point was made by your boyfriends’ receive that the other team failed to receive. And right after he scored that point, he looked to you and winked.

A huge smile was on your face, and Osamu teasingly elbowed you, “You guys are so sappy.”

You rolled your eyes and elbowed him back, “Like you and Suna-kun weren’t like that when you guys first started dating?”

He just grinned and grabbed your arm, “You’re right, now let’s go say hi to the team before the fans get to them.”

When you came down to the court, Komori suddenly felt his heart race. A few seconds ago he was exhausted from the game, but seeing you smile and walk towards him made him feel like he could play another set.

“(y/n)!”

He held his arms wide open and you jumped into his embrace.

“Motoya, you looked so cool out there. I’m so proud of you.”

Komori only held you tighter and smiled, “I’m just happy you’re here, love.”

You were about to tell him about how sappy he was, but a random voice interrupted.

“Hey love bird, you gonna introduce us to her?”

Komori just laughed and spun you around in his embrace, refusing to let you go.

“Of course captain. Team, this is my girlfriend (l/n) (y/n), (y/n), this is my team.”

The captain was the first to come up.

“Yah know (l/n)-san, you have to come more often because I’ve never seen Komori work this hard.”

You just laughed and squeezed your boyfriends’ hands lovingly.

Komori just placed his chin on your head as you continued to playfully talk to all of his teammates.

This man was so deeply in love with you and anyone could see it just by the way he looked at you.

thank you + milestone!!

damn, never thought we'd get here, did we?

in all honesty, it's been a pretty shit year. march 'til now has felt like the same month on repeat with tiny tweaks to make it all so much worse. but i'm not here to complain about the worst parts of this year, i'm here to celebrate the best ones.

this was the year that i finally started writing, that i was finally spurred to open a google doc and just type away until a tiny work of fiction stared back at me. my first one was 1k words, a rant to get all of my emotions off of my chest with an idol as my muse. it felt...great, though it also felt a bit odd writing after being an avid reader for years. i always did prefer essays to creative writing, but this year definitely changed that perspective.

i wrote that first blurb along with another fic in late july, and in early august, i asked my friends if i should post them. om august 3rd, i changed this blog from a fic rec to a fic writing blog just like that. i regret none of it.

it's been nearly five months since i revamped this blog and i couldn't be more grateful for the support i have gotten from all of you, whether it be a kind comment, a like, a reblog, all of it. i never thought anyone would like my content, but i've been proven severely wrong by this community. from my irls that are on here, to my lovely mutuals and followers, to those i've talked to a lil bit on this hellsite, to the writers whose fics i absolutely adore, to those who have left a like or a comment on one of my fics, i want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart ♡

have a happy and healthy new year! i love and appreciate every single one of you!!

though i'm painfully bad at writing letters and getting all sappy, i wanted to write them anyways hahaha let's goooo
