little shin, trapped in a body that isn't her own. little shin, who is found by baylan. baylan, who asks their name and doesn't question why she has a girls name when they look like a little boy.

baylan, who raises little shin as his own daughter, his kid. that's his baby. little shin who comes crying to him one day, she can't keep it in anymore.

"I'm not a boy!", they cry to him, terrified of his reaction. baylan who just nods and hugs her tightly because he knew. he knew all along and he doesn't care, that is his kid.

baylan, who takes every job and saves every credit so he can eventually pay for gender affirming therapy for shin once she's old enough. baylan who helps shin transition, because that makes his kid happy.

baylan, who learns how to cut his daughters way, do their makeup, who learns to braid her hair and to dye it, when they request it.

Killian stared at the circular, metal object in his hand before glancing up at Jefferson. Wondering what it was and why his old cru–friend had dropped it into his hand. 

He hadn't received any gifts in years from anyone, after all, and they hadn't seen each other in nearly a decade. 

Not since their falling out over Priscilla's tragic death back when Grace was a wee baby. 

The whole situation didn't make any sense. 

"What's this?"

Jefferson didn't meet his eye. "A pride pin. Saw it in the store and thought of you…so, uh, happy pride, Kill." 

Killian's gaze drifted back to his palm to examine the 'pride' pin.

It had three differently colored, horizontal stripes: the first stripe was Pink, the second was yellow, and the 3rd was blue. 

And the stripes were partially covered by the silhouette of a pirate ship. 

Killian swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. 

A tight feeling I'm his chest.

He continued to examine the pin for a few minutes before finally speaking "I don't know what this pride you speak of is, but thanks mate." 

Jefferson gave him a small smile—a genuine one—before his order was called and he departed. 

Killian's eyes didn't leave the pin until Emma arrived for their date.

But his mind didn't leave it that night as he wondered if this was Jeff's way of extending an olive branch. 

A part of him hoped it was.

He may have moved on from his crush on Jeff but that didn't mean that he didn't miss having him as a friend, after all.
