My yandere Invincible posts have been getting notes recently now that season 2 is starting and there's a specific idea I have in my head for platonic yandere dad Nolan x daughter Reader because of a scene from the first episode, the scene from Mark's past where (small spoiler I guess) Nolan visibly heavily contemplates killing Mark and Debbie (because Mark might not get his powers and, he doesnt want to fail his mission) but quickly stops himself and is clearly ashamed for what he almost did
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I keep thinking of a specific scenario. Reader is his second-born daughter who is a couple years younger than Mark and you're his little princess and you're just, outside playing while your parents occasionally peek out at you through the glass door/window to the backyard and, you're like 5 or 6 when things just, suddenly change, it hits you like lightning. Things look differently, they smell different, the sun on your skin feels different, the toys in your hands feel lighter and weirder than before, and when you start to slowly squeeze them, they start to break, but, you're smart and fast enough to stop.
But it's not JUST your body. It's your MIND. Suddenly you're remembering all those cartoons you've ever watched, practically every memory you have, every experience, every fact.
Temporarily, ever so briefly, you start to float, and you easily figure out how to put yourself down.
You're so excited you can't even make a sound-- you've got your powers like Dad!-- and you go to tell your parents, and you see then talking inside. You don't want to interrupt and wait outside patiently, deciding you'll go in when they're done talking even ss you're bouncing in excitement. And, you see everything from Ducktape Man to Mom and Dad talking to that menacing movement your father made, where some animalistic instinct inside of you knew it was HOSTILE and, in just a few moments, you're putting it all together, like either some gullible kid who believes everything in cartoons, or, perhaps, someone who just became a lot, lot smarter: you start hypothesizing that Nolan must be evil and has some hidden ulterior motive. Why would Nolan be so mad at Mark not having powers to the point of violence, murder? Oh, because if Mark didn't have powers, he wouldn't be like dad, he'd be a human? Does dad not like humans? Does dad want to hurt humans? Is there any other reason Dad seems to almost NEED his offspring to be Viltrumites too?
Oh, is Dad a bad alien who wants his children to leave Earth and human culture behind for their roots? And if he doesn't succeed, he'll snap? Is it like in those cartoons where the evil father tries to bring his kid to the darkside and the hero has to fight and defeat them even if it hurts?
The whole theory and coming into your powers is surreal, it's inhuman, but it's the new you, the new Viltrumite you. You burst into tears as you become overwhelmed and stressed at the idea you might have to fight your evil dad, lying to your father, no, Nolan, that you were crying because you broke your toy on accident and he has to shush you as he promises you a new one but your chubby little kid arms aren't squeezing him as tight as they used to
You start keeping secrets. You start watching him all the time, the things he does, the things he says, and the more and more, you become convinced. He never stops treating you as his little angel, and you even notice, he's, for some reason, gentler with you than Mark and, as you grow older, you realize it's because you're a girl and for whatever reason he's falling into the very stereotypical role of, treating both you and Mark very well overall, but, also being more lenient with you, telling Mark he has to be a good brother and protect his baby sister, Nolan always trying to buy you little sweets, but, after you saw what you did, your behavior towards him immediately shifts. You try to act the same to avoid arousing suspicion but you aren't nearly as affectionate and, as you get older, you take advantage of using puberty and needing independence as an excuse to put emotional walls up and distance yourself from him, even as he constantly tries to engage and spend time with you
Your family is worried what's wrong with you when you start calling him Nolan instead of dad, you suddenly don't want to spend time with him, your mom, and even your brother. You start working the second you're legally old enough, but, despite how bright and inquisitive you were as a kid, your grades are. Average. As in, deliberately average. You can never let Nolan know what you are. As you age and hear more and more of his comments where you can tell he's insulting not just anyone in particular, but the entire human race, you steel yourself, because you know, you know this man cannot be your father anymore, and you may even have to kill him. But you're so overly cautious about him and anyone else not finding out that you're limited at training options. You can't just fly anywhere, you can't just practice martial arts against normal humans, but, you find ways to make it work. You work manual labor jobs your father scoffs at, you wait until night and/or you know he's off planet to practice flying in one single field where you can see for miles all around you and see any witnesses or planes coming
You are a daughter with every intention of either abandoning her family and leaving the planet, or killing her father. Once you realized that you were an alien, unlike Mark and unbeknownst to Nolan, you're more like your father than you realize. You become more apathetic to humanity, more nonchalant about where you are in life. Suddenly you don't have to worry about your grades or college or things like that because, well, what good will earth stuff do you in outer space? Maybe you'll pick up some more practical knowledge but, really, the only reason you don't leave the planet once you start getting older is literally just that, one you're still attached to Mark and Debbie, and two, you don't have a flight suit and know your clothes will burn up and. You wanna get out of here but you don't want to be naked in space!!
Like picture this. Mark has just gotten his powers and you're heartbroken because, over the last decade your father started spending significantly more focus on Mark instead of you, inviting him to things he doesn't even mention to you, finally shifting almost his exclusive attention to his son, and, now Mark is "just like dad", already starting to get full of himself because hes stronger and "better", which worries you because, you eventually deduce Nolan is some kind of invader who is having kids to be soldiers. Like imagine sitting at the dinner table and Mark is all "don't worry sis, I bet you're a late bloomer too :) youll get your powers soon" and Nolan pipes in like "yeah and then we can all go out flying together" and you just look him dead in the eyes and don't reply. You're constantly having to temper your anger and keep up your ruse because if you're too openly hostile, he'll figure it out, and you have literally not a single doubt in your mind that he'll kill you for his mission, which is funny because you've actually adapted a lot of the "don't care I'm an alien" mindset that he wanted Mark to have
Nolan has no idea why you clearly hate him, why you fake smiles, why you stopped spending time with him. He still remembers when you were a toddler and you were running around, skinning your knees all the time and picking yourself up with little sniffles like nothing happened because you just wanted to keep running and exploring and playing SO bad. You used to be so bright. He had such high hopes for you. Honestly he always thought you would potentially outmatch Mark and be his strongest child, but. Here you are, a straight C student, working manual labor jobs, completely average, and refusing to bond with him in any way. He can tell you're keeping some sort of secret from him, but whenever he goes to confront you about it, you're... surprisingly scared, but, not as scared as you should be, in the nuanced ways one would shrink away as a child being scolded by their parent. It's almost like... you're holding some sort of grudge against him
I couldn't decide which version I prefer in terms of Reader finally being exposed. Maybe you don't realize Mark is trailing you and he finds out and tells Nolan behind your back under the mistaken impression you recently got your powers and was training in secret to make it a surprise. Or there's some sort of attack or disaster or accident where you're shot by a robber or they attempt to stab you and it just, dents against your skin. Or even, you start disrespecting Debbie because you're frustrated about being an alien that can't die and she let this man into her bed without truly knowing who or what he was and you're resenting her for it and you make a really awful comment and get in an argument with her and in anger she moves to slap you and fractures her hand against your invulnerable face, or you have to catch her wrist so she doesn't hurt herself and Nolan can tell by your reflexes that you're not fully human
I also just like the idea of. You're 18 and you make it very extremely clear you're moving out and your family is like, REFUSING but they technically can't stop you (although the idea of Omniman going full yandere dad and physically locking you up so his baby girl doesn't leave the nest certainly IS a nice thought) and they notice, instead of packing your things, you're donating them, getting rid of them. The day of your move happens and you're standing there with only a backpack and you haven't told them Any details about where you're going or, just, ANYTHING, and Nolan is looking at you like a big sad hound dog "can't I at least drive you 🥺" and you're like " :) no that's OK, I've got my own ride" AND JUST FLYING AWAY. I just think it'd be extremely relatable and hilarious if you keep up the ruse for so many years and you finally blow your cover because you lose your temper or because you've been hurt emotionally. Nolan tries to ground you, "March upstairs right now young lady!" and you're just like "march?" As you start levitating away just to spite him and he's picking his jaw off the floor. Mark sees you acting out one day "You're just jealous because dad likes spending time with me over you and you don't have any powers" and youre so hurt at seeing your big brother who you've been wanting to protect all this time become a pawn of your father that you just start hovering in the air right then and there, "you can have dad. You can have everything. I'm not even staying on this planet anymore"
I dunno, I kinda like the idea of Reader being this kind of, you know, still kind and all that, but a really almost, inhuman figure in the sense that your specific alien genetics or mutation causes you to kind of snap onto Genius Mode and you become sort of this calculating detached figure who pretends to be human and is openly hateful to your entire family because, as you see it, you're on your own and don't need or want them, you're different than them, your mental abilities are different even from Nolan's, and, meanwhile, said superhero is desperate to find out why his little girl hates her Daddy so much. He's still, you know, got that Viltrum in him, but Debbie and Earth has drawn out more of his humanity and he does love you, he does want you in his life, and it HURTS for you to reject him
But then he finds out about your powers and. Suddenly you're just supposed to magically forget how he started pushing you away too as he wants to bond with you again, teach you, train you. He has no idea he's proving your years of theories right as, he is overjoyed at discovering you have powers, like, you very clearly detect the "oh thank GOD you're not ACTUALLY a lowly human" energy oozing off of him and you realize you were right all along, you really were never more than just an extension of this narcissistic man from his freak species of savages, that he came to Earth with ulterior motives and it's dangerous for you to continue to be around him
You can try to pull away from him all you want, but even if he never found out about your powers, Nolan won't ever let you slip through his fingers. He knows how heartless and cruel this galaxy can be, and, if you're really truly such a fragile little eggshell of a human, then, clearly you need your doting dad looking after you until you're a little old lady passing away of old age while he looks exactly the same as the day you were born. But. That's not what's going to happen because even if that scenario came to pass he would quickly see that you aren't aging. There's no way you can fake that.
I just imagine a Reader who hardens herself into a true soldier and starts planning for the day you kill your father. You lure him out one day into a certain area and you jump him with like Homura vs Walpurgisnacht levels of preparation, hurling all sorts of materials and chemicals and objects at him, testing what works yet nothing does, coming at him with all sorts of different attacks and techniques you've had to teach yourself and pick up on your own, but, he's older than you, FAR older, and much more experienced, and he finally has to do something he hates and punches you in the gut so hard it makes you collapse and start throwing up but, he's just. POSITIVELY EUPHORIC. you just tried to kill your own father at like 17, 18, 20 years old and he's standing here "I KNEW IT, I knew you were special! Did you plan all this? Wow! you even tried to pierce my heart! where did you even get explosives from, did you make these?" Like he's THRILLED at the absolute sheer brutality, like, you just tried to KILL HIM kill him and he's like "Awwww I'm so proud 🥰🥰🥰 my little baby girl is a true viltrumite" and now YOU'RE FUCKED because now he loves you more than ever and, he was lowkey becoming massively depressed at the idea of outliving you, losing you, having to see you die, and now he doesn't have to, so. Now he can have both of his kids for rhe next hundreds and thousands of years 🥰 he has so many things he wants to show and teach you, so, now that he's seen how truly capable you are, it's time to start your training, but also, making up for all that lost bonding time you spent pushing dear old dad away ❤️

hear me out…. todobaku as villains???
im going to disappoint you anon bc i am not a like... dark & twisted fantasy villain au person. as per quidfree canon what keeps me going is good characterisation and so you will find no undercut tattoo-laden bad boys here.
if you want my two cents on what todobaku villain au would most likely look like though it's under the cut
todoroki:
this one is easy right? touya exists. shouto already has his villain backstory: his dad is a bigshot hero uplifted by society and also an abusive bastard in private. his motivations in hero-oriented society are obvious.
i think shouto probably distinguishes himself from touya in a number of ways, one of which being style of villainy. touya was a lot more unstable emotionally (?tied to his quirk self-harm stuff) and undiscerning in his resentment (see: woman hater) even before he ran away. i think shouto would be a more classic anti-hero type villain, less quick to cause chaos and death to unrelated civilians or high schoolers. they would have an uneasy relationship if and when shouto figured out who dabi was- i think he would retain his empathy for his siblings and mother, but he would disagree with touya’s choices.
i see him as a loner villain, not likely to join the league. early UA shouto appeared to have literally never spoken to another person in ten years, so if he around that age veered off the expected path and went MIA, i think the whole ice prince thing would solidify pretty definitely. and that’s the kind of personality he’d have too- icy, controlled superiority over a core of red-hot rage. no quips here. though some dramatics. he hides it but shouto always has flair.
shouto is a practical guy first and foremost. i think he’d just wear something similar to his plumber fit. maybe something akin to a balaklava to mask his identity, but maybe not, if he wants to make his father aware of his actions. i do think touya-style he might go for a hairdye, but in his case it’d probably be bleach, as a sort of obvious reclaiming of rei’s heritage and rejection of enji’s.
overall as villains go if we are keeping to a world close to canon shouto is probably one of the more morally upright people you will encounter. very scary motherfucker but pretty targeted enemies, so unless you’re involved in maintaining the hero justice system at some pivotal level you’re probably safe. if you are though? rip i guess. prepare to have your home frozen, your limbs stuck to the ground, and an icepick summarily driven through your skull by a teenager.
bakugou
katsuki is tough because for him it very much depends on setting, and at a basic level when you’re looking at. katsuki fundamentally is not a fuck the system guy- he’s a guy the system loves, and he’s interested in winning it, not destroying it, at least until character development kicks his ass. so really if you want to go early canon for both of them, villain bakugou is just hero bakugou. a katsuki from the start of bnha left to continue on his presumed arc uninterrupted, no deku or kidnapping or war to force him to question himself. arrogant and cruel and uncaring of what heroism is meant to be about. saving big numbers, sure, or at least defeating big ones, but when your defeats involve death or as good as, hard to draw the line.
similarly, in a universe where for some reason heroes have lost their relevance and villains reign, teen katsuki would have very easily risen in that direction, with similar traits.
who would his targets be? whoever’s in his way, pretty much. even in a more anti-hero slant, villain’s goons would not be safe. and anyone who tried to recruit / hire / ally him would inevitably face some kind of betrayal bc katsuki simply got sick of orders and believes he can handle the fall-out.
in terms of looks, katsuki is more style conscious than shouto is, but as lord explosion murder doesn’t necessarily look very heroic i think he wouldn’t look that different. maybe more of the black and winter-suit vibes.
for as insufferable as he would be, he would also be horrifying, yes. i mean, the guy is a starter kit terrorist. even if he was in tantrum ego mode he could level a street. collateral would be nasty if katsuki didn’t care to contain himself.
todobaku villain interaction ???
if we’re going with the above sort of setting? would not stand each other. for bakugou it’s obvious stuff (think sports fest and general canon), but todoroki genuinely would not tolerate villain bakugou at all, given the obvious alarm bells of similarity to endeavor. it’s not his focus but if bakugou died he would not be displeased.
as in any universe they could be begrudgingly forced into cooperation and then be privately disgusted by how well they worked together after the initial predictable faux pas. all of their other villain colleagues are like “can’t we just call that guy in for an assist again” and theyre like *breathing exercises* no.
they are both despite appearances and villainy-amplified dramatics fairly pragmatic so theyd probably not actively seek to cross each other unless they seemed to be getting in the way of their respective goals. they can recognise that this would be getting into it w an unnecessarily big distraction/threat. but i can imagine the “keep out of this” warnings would be fairly inventive. todoroki negligently thwarts one of bakugou’s plots and bakugou turns his entire hideout to rubble. a bunch of todoroki’s contacts are collateral during one of bakugou’s attacks and bakugou wakes up to find all of his security died of hypothermia overnight. lest we forget they both have petty streaks.
hero x villain interaction would be. very funny and very bad. hero todoroki would be So Tired of villain bakugou bc of how frustrating it is that hes actually hard to stop and villain bakugou in turn would resent him immensely. hero bakugou dealing w villain todoroki? that would be (psychologically bizarre) fun. i think for some reason that would be the closest we get to a bakugou w ‘doodling hearts against their own volition’ crush energy. but theyd get along a lot better than the reverse, mainly bc hero bakugou is like a decent person and villain todoroki respects moral integrity. in both duos in a lighter setting the villain of the two might start getting a mild kick out of messing w the hero despite their focus on other things just bc 1) it gives villain todoroki the mildest of entertainment to look forward to every blue moon given he doesn’t necessarily wish bakugou any active harm 2) villain bakugou feels he’s owed some todoroki suffering considering how annoying he personally finds him.
that’s my two cents on it anyways. idk what everyone else has in mind!

Brothers React to a Demigod MC
So, I've gotten some interest to do a Brothers follow-up to a previous request of mine (Undateables React to a Cute, Badass MC), however, I've thus far refused to write one. Honestly, this HC actually plays on a trope I personally dislike and had it not been a request I would have never done it to start with. I just can't see any reasonable way a non-magic human can beat a bunch of demons, I just can't, and that hinders my imagination quite a bit. …But someone who’s not so human? That I can get behind. Fair warning, I grew up with the Percy Jackson series so that’s going to paint quite a bit of how I see modern demigods. Ready for things to get super-ultra fanfic-y for a bit?
Intro:
The day to kidnap bring the exchange students to the Devildom has finally come and the demons have all gathered in the Council Room to open their portal to the human world. Really, things started without a hitch - the portal opened with and their future student dropped down out of it and landed on the floor… before they suddenly leapt up, pulled out a weapon, and lunged at them!
… This isn’t your normal human, it is?
Lucifer
Oh Devil, this couldn’t have been any farther than what they wanted… They were looking for a human and they managed to pull out a halfling! A divine halfling no less!! Why wasn’t this in their file?!
Look, Lucifer might not be on good terms with his father, but even he knows he had it better than any children of the pagan gods… The levels of petty vindictiveness that run through that bunch are literally the stuff of legends...
After he and Barbatos were able to restrain the MC before they hurt themselves or anyone else, Diavolo explained everything to them and gave them a pardon for attacking the Demon Prince on sight… After they identified themselves and their parentage, Lucifer knew they were in for some shit…
He and Diavolo had to iron out an apology letter to their godly parent for days just to keep from saying anything that could accidentally cause a second Troy or worse... It was a mess...
But on the bright side, the “human” came pre-prepared for fighting monsters and demons, which honestly took a bit of a load off his shoulders. That’s less responsibility for Mammon - and in his experience, the less responsibility Mammon has, the better things usually turn out.
… Though their ability to actually hold their own in a fight did make things complicated sometimes - like whenever he was their perceived opponent...
He wasn’t expecting to have to manage a being that was actually capable of meeting him toe-to-toe on the battlefield and it did hinder his intimidation factor to some degree…It was hard to be threatening to someone who’s likely faced worse than you could ever offer.
In the end it probably worked out for the best, as a live exchange student is better for Diavolo than a dead one - but man did it get on his nerves until they made their pact together… Be scared of him, dammit!
Mammon
The first time he tried to threaten the human, they straight up pulled out a weapon and looked like they were ready to whip his ass!! Didn’t they know he wasn’t being serious?? 😫
He really didn’t know why he had to be on babysitting duty, anymore... This huma-er demigod could handle themselves just fine!
When he first ditched them with Levi, he later found out they managed to cleanly toss his brother over their head and make a break for it all by themselves! And Levi’s no pushover either!!
Later, he saw them getting ambushed on their way back from school and they soundly knocked out about five demons before he even caught up to them… and he’s, like, fast and stuff…
Their strength is kind of unreal at times, but he could tell they were still far from a mindless killing machine. They were more or less a normal person, they had wants and dreams like anybody else, but they just happened to be a long stronger than the average mortals around them. 🤷‍♀️
After he eventually got to know them and a bit about how their life worked, he felt a little bad for them... Who wants to be hunted down just for being born?
After learning about their struggles, Mammon ended up resolving to help keep them safe (even if a part of him knew they didn’t need him that much).
I mean, if the whole world’s against you, then you can use all the help you can get... right?
Leviathan
Levi found out exactly one thing about them within the first two minutes of meeting them… their reflexes were killer.
After Mammon ditched them on Day One, he tried to drag the human to his room to tell them his genius plan but they broke out of his grip and threw him flat on his back like was just second nature!
He was stuck on the ground for a full minute, trying to process what just happened, while they ran off into the House all alone…
Did he just get tossed around… by a human?? Was he really that pathetic!?!
Finding out later that they were actually half-god certainly helped out his self-esteem because, man, if he had lost so easily to a human of all things... He might have just never left his room again…
Levi pretty much kept his distance from them until they finally made a pact together and then he discovered that the MC wasn’t so scary after all. If he’s being honest, being in the same house as a demigod was actually kind of cool...!
Like, it was almost exactly the plot of the show: “Wait, I Thought I Was the Son of a Pagan God So What Am I Doing in a Christian Hell??” but their MC seemed to know a lot more about fighting than the protagonist of that show ever did…
Plus, because he never had to worry about their safety, he had even more excuse to never leave his room. Win-win!
Satan
A demigod, eh…? He had done plenty of research into human world mythologies in his spare time, frankly he thought the old gods had died out - but it seems they were still up and kicking… and making babies for whatever reason? Horny bastards...
Satan's original interest in the MC was purely academic. It’s not everyday that you get to meet someone of such a unique heritage and he fully intended to learn if all the legends about their greatness were true… and well...
He could say that the MC was certainly different than how he pictured humans being. He’d never met very many before, but from what he could gather they were a weak race that really got by on wit and persistence… However, nothing about the MC was weak.
Their aptitude for combat was surprisingly sharp, both in skill and reflexes. He had once blown up at them in anger and not only did they dodge his swipes but they got in a good few hits themselves with a nearby lamp… He never once thought a mortal could give him a black-eye but, somehow, they pulled it off. 🤷‍♀️
Combine their physical skill with what magical gifts were granted to them by their godly-half and they were a force to be reckoned with… Even Solomon seemed to hesitate and think more about his actions around them (which is saying something for a sorcerer of his strength).
It’d be fair to say a part of him grew to respect the MC long before they ever made their pact and that respect only grew afterwards. If he had to be bound to any master, human or otherwise, he’d rather it be one that he could right about consider an equal not only as a friend, but in strength as well.
Asmodeus
A demigod…? Oooo, he hadn’t come across one of those since he bedded Aeneas all those centuries ago… Such a gorgeous man, got all his looks from his mother~! 🤭
Asmo was probably the most interested in their godly heritage, but it felt like he was treating them like a zoo exhibit for a while… Something pretty and new to look at, but not exactly someone he wanted to know personally...
He openly and readily admitted that watching their little demigod in action got him hot and bothered (or well, more hot and bothered than usual ) but it didn’t take him to see they weren’t interested at the time…
He decided that he just had to have a pact with them after they saved him from Henry 1.0! It was before he noticed the giant snake and he was lurching back to strike, but the human swept in to knock him out of the way. They probably could have made mince meat of the creature themselves if Levi weren’t begging for them to spare his former pet...
Post-pact Asmo treated them with a lot more respect… but also still fanboyed over their fighting skills hardcore.
Like, their body had to be fit to keep up with all those monsters, right?? What was their training routine? Could he watch?? Oh please say he can watch!! He just can’t get enough of that fighter’s physique…! 😍
Beelzebub
So… the human isn’t a human but only part human? And the other part is a god? Does that make them any sturdier than normal humans…? Call him curious…
Beel was probably one of the few brothers who was legitimately weary of the MC from the beginning… He can get a certain feel for a person pretty quickly and something about them just felt…frankly, kind of dangerous.
But they also intrigued him a little… Beel’s used to being one of the strongest demons in any room he walks into (not a boast, just a fact) so for him to get that feel from a mortal was pretty impressive. A part of him just wanted to test them… you know?
So. He did. He asked them to help him train his martial arts one day and even with his awareness, he was not expecting the results that he got.
The MC was strong. Very strong. They were not only able to keep up with him and dodge his blows, but they were able to predict his moves and counterattack in kind. They didn’t even need to tell him that they had actually been fighting for their life for years, he could tell. They had a skill you don’t get from practice matches...
After that point, the two would go to each other to train and keep their skills sharp… but also just to spar for fun. Their fighting styles made a pretty good match and they bonded pretty damn quick because of it.
If anime tells us anything, when you find a good fight buddy, you stick with them. Even if one’s part god and the other is a demon. 🤷‍♀️
Belphegor
A demigod is still human enough to hate, sorry MC. Not that he knew about their godly heritage at first…
Really, he should have been a little more suspicious of how easily they seemed to take to life in the Devildom... Weren’t demons supposed to scare humans? Why did they seem so comfortable down here...?
His confirmation only came when he tried to enact the final part of “Use the MC to Escape the Attic!” plan and take their life to seal the deal… but oh boy, was he outclassed real quick…
The MC had already socked him in the jaw by the time he got his full demon form out and then they threw him across the room by the tail… the TAIL!! And it hurt like a bitch, too!! Even during the full blown fight that followed, he could tell they were holding back and it pissed him off something fierce...!
Why was the MC so strong?!? Humans weren’t supposed to be strong!!!
His brothers heard all the commotion and the Lilith confrontation ended up happening up in the attic between a somewhat beat-up Belphie and a barely-scratched MC. Had Beel not come to his defense on instinct, it might have turned out worse for him in all honesty… Something about that human just wasn’t right…
He only found out about their god-half after everything settled down and he promised not to try killing them again (not that anyone thought he could...) and that put some things into perspective. So the Lastborn Ruler of Hell isn’t as strong as one mortal demigod…? Ouch. Okay, fine then... Whatever...
He does think it’s too bad he missed them beating the crap out of the rest of his brothers, though (minus Beel)... That would have been fun to see. 😔
So I tried to keep this one God-parent neutral, but I’ve upgraded this to its own series! Check it out if you’re interested! 😊

Firstly, just wanna say that I LOVE UR WORK I FAN READ IT FOR HOURS ON END! U HAVE AMAZING TALENT. Also I was wondering if it was ok, to ask for a Yandere BTS royalty headcon of them impregnating you (Even by force if you tell them you don’t want to have a child)
This is not edited so I apologize for any mistakes.
Thank u bb🥰
Edit: WTF I DONT KNOW WHY THE NAMJOON ONE GOT DELETED😭 I’m gonna kill tumblr.
⚠️: NON CON! Yandere!BTS, slapping
Seokjin always used a condom. You didn’t want to spend the rest of your life with him, you simply had each other for your sexual needs. Jin on the other hand was falling for you. He tried to make it obvious but you were still oblivious. It was another night with him. He was in between your legs, doing the dirty. He wasn’t wearing a condom on purpose. You were too needy to even realize. It felt so good because he was repeatedly hitting your gspot. You didn’t realize until hot fluid filled you up. You gasp and immediately take him out of you. “Jin! You’re suppose to wear a condom! I-I’m probably pregnant. No! My moms gonna kill me!” Before you could freak out even more, Jin hugged you and calmed you down. “Your mother won’t freak out when she finds out that the baby’s father is the king.”
Yoongi always gets what he wants. His parents arranged a marriage with some random chick. After hearing about the news, you were a little heartbroken but also relieved. Yoongi has been angrier than usual. He’s been taking that anger out on you for some reason. Yelling at you, aggressive sex, being extra possessive. The man you once loved whole heartedly has turned into a scary monster. Yoongi on the other hand was even more frustrated. He wanted to marry you not some random chick. The only way he could escape out of this marriage is if he gets you pregnant. He didn’t waste anymore time. He ran to your house and explained the situation. You look at him in disbelief. “Yoongi, I want you to be happy with your wife. It’s okay. Don’t worry about me. Your wife will also make you very happy and give you children. You’ll fall in love again.” He looked at you with a bizarre expression on his face. “Are you hearing yourself? You’re just gonna give up on us just like that? Did I ever mean anything to you?” You sigh, “of course you did. But I can’t interfere with your marriage. Your parents hold a lot of power. They can kill my family. I can’t let that happen.” Yoongi was pissed off. You didn’t seem to be sad. Was he just a toy for you? Yoongi didn’t care if you didn’t want to be with him. To save himself from this marriage, he forcefully took you. You tried to crawl away but he pulled you back and slapped your ass. “I’m getting married to you! You’re gonna have my children and we’ll be a happy family.”
Hoseok never forced anything on you. That’s not how his mom raised him. Yes, the husband has power over his wife but after learning what his mother had been through, he hated other men. Hoseok was a gentlemen. The husband every girl wanted. You were his lucky wife. He never brought up having a family, but you didn’t mind. You accidentally made Hoseok jealous by talking to one of his friends. After the event, you both arrived at your shared room and he was all up on you. He wasn’t screaming or anything. He was being possessive. “Have you forgotten who you belong to? Mmh? Let me remind you.” Usually, Hoseok is a soft dom. But tonight he became a hard dom. He had you screaming and crying his name out of pleasure. He kept reminding you that he was going to “pound his babies into your swollen pussy.”
Jimin: You didn’t want kids. They were annoying. You never told Jimin though. You knew that he adored children and you being his wife would have to give him some eventually. But you couldn’t face reality. You were afraid that you wouldn’t have a connection with your kid. You had a rough childhood which is why you did not want kids. You’re traumatized. Jimin was out, seeing how the city was doing. Since he will become king soon, he wants to learn how to improve everyone’s life style. While he was out, a rumour started going around. Apparently you cheated on him with another man. Jimin had noticed that you became distant from him but he still trusted you. But now there are people saying that you’re cheating on him. It all made sense to him now. He rushed back home and didn’t hold back. He yelled at you then slapped you without letting you explain yourself. He ripped your dress off you covered your mouth before taking you. “You fucking slut, I’ll show you who you belong to!” Every time he came in you, you cried harder. “P-please Jimin, I don’t want kids.” He held onto your jaw and looked you right in the eyes. “Too bad.”
Taehyung has been very vocal about wanting kids. You - his arranged wife - weren’t ready for kids. Especially not his kids. Taehyung wasn’t a gentlemen. Well, in front of his mother and family, he was. But behind the scenes he was aggressive with you. He wanted a typical, wife worships husband marriage. You were getting ready for bed when he walked in. He helped you take your necklace off and fixed your hair. His arms wrap around your waist and he placed his chin on your shoulder. “Don’t you think we should start a family?” You quietly whisper a “no” and avoid eye contact with him. “Why not? They’re gonna think that you have an infertility issue. My mother will flip and I’ll have to marry another girl who can get pregnant.” You turn around and face him. “Then marry another girl! I’d rather die than have your baby.” Taehyung slapped you. He picked you up and threw you on the bed. “Why can’t you just obey me for once?! I want a child. You’re gonna give me a child.” You did struggle under him. You kicked, cried, begged, screamed but nothing worked. You didn’t get out of his grip in time. He was already cumming in you. He didn’t stop until he felt confident that you were pregnant. The following week you experienced morning sickness and your period being late, confirming that you were pregnant.
Jungkook: He kidnapped you and kept you locked up in the basement of his palace. He was an arrogant prince and you had every right to call him out. You made him look like a fool and he was angered by it. The following night he kidnapped you and showed you who’s in control. Jungkook could destroy your life in a blink of an eye so you had to obey him for the sake of your parents. After being his doll for god knows how long, he brought you upstairs to his bedroom and had unprotected sex with you. You were too scared and weak to defend yourself. But you did warn him that you might get pregnant. He had the most aggressive sex with you to the point where you couldn’t do it anymore. You cried into the pillow and begged him to stop. His cum was overflowing in you. “Please, I’m gonna get p-pregnant.” Little did you know, that’s exactly what he wanted.

Ow.
Owwwww.
Sharp white snakes of fire were shooting up your spine, but the rest of your body was ice cold. You wanted to scream, but you just didn’t have the strength to. Your whole body was so heavy, you felt like a rock falling beneath the waves, drowning helplessly as the person who threw you in laughed.
Laughter…
Who was laughing?
Behind the laughter was music, you listened to all the notes, beautiful Cs, Ds, Es, and Fs tied together in half steps.
Of course it was in minor key.
It wasn’t a song or an artist you recognized though, and it didn’t sound like it was coming from a phone or speaker.
Someone was playing the piano.
You needed to open your eyes.
But fuck it if it wasn’t gonna l be difficult.
You felt like your body was made of lead, and opening your eyes was going to be like lifting a truck.
A bright blob of white light pierced your pupils as you peeled back your eyelids, finally seeing your surroundings.
There was a flat white ceiling staring down at you, and a silver fan was whirring away, white light burning your retinas.
The walls were light blue, clean and bright. It looked fresh, the room still smelled like paint. You hissed, pushing yourself up to a sitting position. As you moved, you felt something soft brush against your neck.
You slowly lifted one hand to your neck, grabbing at it. You felt leather and metal pressing against your palm. A soft feather was attacked to a small metal loop. You tugged on it, trying to detach it from your collar.
It wouldn’t budge.
You let go of the feather, letting your arm flop to your side. You felt exhausted, and everything was so foggy. What the hell was happened? Where were you? Where was Izanagi?
You heard a loud creak, and the realization hit you that the music had stopped. When did it stop?
“I-Izanagi?” You whimpered, trying to focus your eyes on the blurry figure in front of you. You saw tanned skin, something yellowish on their head, and two large red blobs behind them.
You heard the person coo, and felt their gentle fingers on your face, tilting you up by the chin.
“No no, Izanagi’s not here, my dear~” you felt your blood run cold, and you attempted to push the creature away. He was like a rock wall, unmoving and unaffected.
“No-“ you whimpered “please go away!”
“Tsk tsk tsk” your vision was slowly starting to clear, the only thing blocking you from seeing your captor clearly were the tears building up in your widened eyes.
“I’m not going to leave my love alone like this, now should I? That would be so irresponsible of me~” his voice was calm, smooth like honey, and it made you want to scream. “I’ve worked so hard to get you here, I need to make sure you feel so comfortable! That’s why I’m here~”
“Hawks.” His golden eyes lit up when you murmured his hero name. He nodded happily.
“Yes, yes you recognize me! The drug must have worn off for the most part by now… how do you feel?” His face was awfully close to you, and his hot breath fanned out over your face.
“Scared, please let me go.” You muttered. He sighed, shaking his head.
“Dumb little birdy.” He tutted. “You shouldn’t go outside, y’know. Too dangerous for a pretty little thing like yourself! Tell me how you feel.”
“I feel like leaving.” You were slowly regaining your physical strength, and your eyes darted to every corner of the room. There was a window, locked and boarded up. There was the door, wide open.
Just outside you could see a hallway, a little dark table with a vase on it. You could run out there, grab the vase and smash it. You could threaten him with it and maybe get to the front door, wherever that was.
You felt Hawks’ hand lower from your face to your chin, squeezing your cheeks together so your lips poked out in a cute pout. He pressed his forehead against yours, and you could feel him growling.
“I said, you’re not fucking leaving. Did I not make myself clear?” You sniffled pitifully.
“You’re scaring me, Hawks.” You whined. He softened again, letting go of you and leaning back.
“I’m so sorry, Baby Bird. Don’t you worry though, so long as you listen to me, I won’t have to be scary again.” You nodded, moving quickly to smack him hard in the nose and dash towards the door.
Your collar tightened around your neck, something pulling you backwards. You collapsed to the ground with a choked out gasp, arms flying to your neck to relieve yourself of the pressure.
Of course there was a leash tying you to the bed.
You tried to scream, but your throat was closing up from the pressure on your neck. Your tears finally flooded down your cheeks as you writhed pathetically on the floor.
Your eyes found Hawks, carelessly crouching above your wriggling, dying body. He sighed, wiping away one of your tears.
“See what happens when you disobey?” He lifted your head with his hands, pressing a soft kiss to your nose. “You get hurt. That’s why you gotta listen to me. Promise you’ll listen to me?”
“I promise!” You barely managed to get the words out between your sobbing and choking. You saw his face stretch into a lazy smile as he loosened your collar.
Your body fell limp as your lungs sucked in air. You gasped, coughing and crying as your hands reached for something to hold, eventually landing on his hands.
Hawks helped you to your feet, sitting you down on the bed. His hands rested on either side of your thighs as he studied your tear-stained face.
You kept your eyes on your lap, shaking. You didn’t want to be here, tortured by this sadistic bird. You wanted to go home, you wanted Izanagi.
“Please sir, I want to go home!” You cried. His face twitched.
“As much as I live for you calling me ‘sir,’ you’re not going anywhere. This is your home now.”
“I want Izanagi.”
“I’m not going to hurt you unless you disobey, so there’s no need to be scared.” He started. “And I must say, you should feel guilty. You shouldn’t have been staying so close to Kouten Yuu and Izanagi Fujikawa. You’re probably cold because I have the AC on. Now that light feeling is from that drug I gave you back at the police station.”
“Ask for another man again and I’ll kill him.” Well that sure shut you up quick.
“So tell me. How do you feel? And look at me when you answer.” You slowly lifted your head, rubbing your arms to stop your shaking.
You met his eyes.
“I… I feel scared. And- and guilty. And I- I’m so cold. And I feel- I feel kind of light chested? Like- like my lungs are full of helium and have lifted up sort of- I don’t know, I’m- I’m so sorry, please don’t hurt me!” You shied away from him, hiccuping as you covered your face with your arms.
He shushed you, pulling your arms down and wiping away your tears. He seemed merciful, but you knew better than to think that of him.
You swallowed, he was so casual about drugging you, as if it was perfectly normal to stalk and kidnap someone and expect them to love you.
“Now darling, I’m going to explain some rules and punishments. Pay attention, Dove, I don’t want you to forget any, okay?” Your hands latched onto his jacket, and you nodded slowly.
Rule one: Do as I instruct, always.
Rule Two: You will eat everything I give you.
Rule Three: You will kiss me good morning, goodnight, and whenever I ask.
Rule Four: When I come home from work, you will kiss me and take my jacket.
Rule Five: You will cook what I want you to, using recipes I give you.
Rule Six: You will wear the clothes I give you. You will not dirty anything.
Rule Seven: You will thank me for everything I give you, kisses, clothes, gifts.
Rule Eight: You will call me Keigo, Sir, Daddy, and Master. Nothing else.
Rule Nine: You will not mention any person or thing from your old life.
Rule Ten: You will not try to look out the window, and you will not leave here.
You nodded. This… was going to be your new life, and you feared what could happen if you ever had the gall to break one of Haw- Keigo’s rules.
“And now I will explain your punishments and privileges. I want to be merciful, so please don’t disobey.”
“Okay, Keigo…”
Punishment One: Revoking entertainment
Punishment Two: Starvation/ Dehydration
Punishment Three: Beatings
Punishment Four: Forced Intercourse
Punishment Five: Isolation
“W-wait, Punishment four is- forced intercourse- as- as in- as in-”
“Yes.” His face hardened. “But that’s one of the more intense punishments, only for when I’m very angry or you break a major rule. If you’re good, then I’ll back off when you say no. But do understand, eventually, we will have sex. You’re too fucking sexy for me to not fuck you.”
“I- um-”
“I gave you a compliment, darling. Rule seven?”
“R-right. Thank you… sir.” you watched Keigo shiver, his angry expression morphing into a sadistic smile.
“Oh baby, you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you call me that.” He leaned in close to you, his hand running up your thigh. “Rule Three, give me a kiss baby~”
Hesitation rippled across your face, a chill spreading through your body. You didn’t want to kiss this man, who’d tried to kill your friends, who stalked you for weeks, who’d drugged and kidnapped you. You didn’t want his filthy lips touching you, his slimy tongue in your mouth. You didn’t want to kiss Keigo.
“Y-yes sir.” you whispered, closing your eyes as his face grew bigger, getting closer and closer to you. You remembered the mist that spread across your mind when he drugged you, how it left you immobile and blank. You grasped at the dark fog, pulling it forward and covering you, blocking him out.
After a few moments, you pushed it away. Keigo pulled off your face, and you felt a wad of saliva on your tongue. It tasted greasy and cheesy. Not your saliva.
You swallowed it, looking at him with wide, scared, eyes. Since you dissociated, you had no idea what he or you had done.
“Did- did I do a good job?” Your voice was hushed. It wavered like your shaking body under his gentle, loving touch.
“Yes, dove. That was the perfect first kiss.” He purred. “You did wonderfully.” You relaxed a little, and his hand lifted off your thigh. “Now I’ll tell you a few more things, then I’ll make dinner for you.”
Privilege One: You may watch TV and read, but you can’t use social media.
Privilege Two: You may listen to music and dance, but only with me.
Privilege Three: You may have hobbies, but I will participate in them.
Privilege Four: You are allowed to reject sex, unless it is a punishment.
Privilege Five: You are allowed to request objects and gifts.
Privilege Six: You are allowed to walk around the house, but you will wear a shock collar. Sensors will be located in certain rooms. They will shock you and knock you out for an hour and send me a notification.
Privilege Seven: Eventually, I might get you a phone. You will have no phone numbers but mine, and no social media.
Privilege Eight: I have a garden and pool, at some point when I trust you, I will let you outside for walks and swimming.
Privilege Nine: You’re allowed to cry, to scream, to fight back. I like the battle, just know I’ll always win.
Privilege Ten: You will be allowed a pet one day, maybe two pets, depends on how good you are.
There it all was. Everything he expected of you. Your eyes fell to your lap, to the hands you’d clasped together as they shook. The soft texture of your sweatpants calming you just enough to keep you from throwing up all over Keigo.
“For now, you will remain collared to the bed. I’m going to go to your old home and retrieve all the gifts I gave you.” He stood up, hand lifting up and tracing your body.
“Okay…” you whispered. Keigo cooed, finally lifting off of you. He left briskly,
shutting the door behind him. You heard a small click before his footsteps started to fade away. You put the book down next to you, taking the moment to examine the room you were being kept in.
There was a desk underneath a window, it was tinted dark so you couldn’t see outside. The desk was a pale brown, a violet vase decorated with little bees had seemingly been knocked over, and it was kept from rolling off the desk by the green book leaning against it. You managed to make out the words Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Part of you wondered if Keigo was a fan, or if it was just there for no reason.
A bookshelf was right next to the door, and on the lower shelves, there was a CD player and a box labelled toys. You could figure out what type of toys were in the box, and you were pretty sure it wasn’t LEGOs. On the other side of the room was another door, wide open. You could see a toilet and shower curtains, so it had to have been a bathroom.
Escape wasn’t through there.
Next to the bathroom door was a closet, the door was open a crack, and you could see a couple of dress shirts inside. Probably all his. Part of you wondered if he was going to make you wear some of his shirts, rule six said you must wear whatever he gave you, and that could mean his clothes.
Was… was this really happening? Were you really in the number two hero’s house? Was he really going to keep you in his house forever and ever? Would-
Were you fated to never see your friends and family again?
To never see an ice cream store?
Or a park?
Izanagi?
A moment before, it really all felt like a bad dream. Like you could pinch yourself and you would wake up in your bed, and go to the park with your friends.
Kouten would bring some more delicious food, and you would make a mess while eating it..
Izanagi would sit next to you, and hug you and laugh as he teased you or Kouten about something or another.
You, you would fly, you’d be free.
Slowly, you spread your wings. They bumped against the bed, against the walls and the nightstand with the pretty Viridian lamp on it. You couldn’t even open your wings all the way in this tiny room, this room wasn’t meant to house a free bird.
It was meant to cage a pet.
All the emotions that the fog had blocked out rushed in like a flood, destroying every little bit of peace you’d managed to build up in your life. It slammed into your memories, into your hopes and dreams, and tore them all apart until all that was left was the rushing water, roaring filling your ears. You grasped at your hair, yanking as hard as you could in the hopes of tearing it out.  Maybe the physical pain of a thunderstorm could turn your mind away from the tsunami. Maybe if you had chunks of missing hair, Hawks would become grossed out by you and kick you out. The collar rubbed uncomfortably against your neck, reminding you that he was still there, choking you, restraining you, claiming you as his. He didn’t see you as human, just as a pretty little thing he’d collected, like jewelry or rocks. Everything swirled around, and you couldn’t see any more. It hurt, it fucking hurt. You felt something tug in your stomach, and then your body was pulled forward.
You closed your eyes.
You heard it all splatter on the floor, the meal you’d been served. You tried to make it to the toilet, but all the food in your stomach felt so gross, and you needed to get it out, out, out, out.
You heard a gasp behind you, and you spun your head around. Your eyes widened at the sight of her. Her face was rigid, eyes like knives through your skull. Your tiny hands clutched at your torn shirt. You’d barely finished vomiting and now she was here.
“Please, please no I’m sorry!” You cried, lower lip quivering.  “Sorry isn’t going to cut it!” the walls spun, moving quickly away as the ceiling dipped down, you could see her hands, and you could feel sharp pain in your skull as the floor was dragged away from your body.
“I work so hard, day and night to get food for you, and you just barf it up all over my floors like the ungrateful little brat you are! My floors will stink and stain, and it’s because of your insolence!” You couldn’t see anymore, but you could feel ripping. Did your feathers not want to be on your back anymore? What was that wet thing you felt against your face?
“Your lucky your father isn’t around, I know for a fact he wouldn’t even tolerate this sort of behavior! You make my already shitty life so much more difficult! Be grateful I haven’t sent you away!”
Words bubbled up from your throat, you were barely conscious, and at this point you knew she was hurting you, but you were so tired, you couldn’t even do anything to stop it.
“Please don’t send me away, I’ll do better! I will!”
FInally, the warped darkness was tugged away from you, and you found yourself alone, sittin on the hardwood floor. The vomit had already been cleaned up, but there were bloodstains on your clothes.
You were small, terrified, cold, angry, guilty, sad, and so, so alone.
You closed your eyes.
You didn’t want to open them.

Note
rank the men from the iliad (+ explanations)
1. Hector
WHAT do i even need to say????? Hector is literally brilliant!!! He’s kind, he’s smart, he’s brave, he’s honourable, he’s loyal, he’s a fighter. Even Zeus thought he was so good that he deserved to be saved and only didn’t save him from Achilles because Athena begged him not to. I also really love Hector because even though he’s so awesome, he’s not arrogant or pretentious like Achilles, he’s just so grounded and nice.
2. Odysseus
Remember when Odysseus tried to avoid participating in the war by pretending to be insane? AGHHHHH ODYSSEUS, KING!! That really indicates what kind of a man Odysseus was- kind, and strong, and preferring peace to violence. This guy also stopped Achilles from being stupid and forcing his soldiers to keep fighting even though they were exhausted. Also.. Trojan horse epic prank.. great work, Odysseus.
3. Priam
Oh, Priam! The scene where Priam goes to Achilles himself and begs him to give Hector’s body back is what does it for me. Priam, a king, has to cross enemy lines and bow down before his enemy, the man who murdered his son, and beg him to have the smallest bit of sympathy and give back the body so that they can give Hector the proper burial rites so that he can pass on to the land of the dead. Can you imagine how humiliating that must have been? What strength of mind this old man must have had to go to Achilles, a spoiled brat, and ask for mercy! Priam is just... words can’t describe. I have so much respect for him. He really put family first, always.
4. Polydamas
Hector’s good friend and a Trojan commander. He gives Hector some really good battle advice but my man Hector never listens 😭😭😭 Props to Polydamas for trying though xx
5. Diomedes
Honourable, valiant and not pretenious despite being the ONLY mortal warrior to actually wound the immortal gods (Ares)!!! I LOVE this dude!! He’s smart, he’s brave, he’s cunning, he’s resourceful. Fantastic work, Diomedes!
6. Nestor
i like him because he’s a little bit funny, but also extremely wise and sensible. everyone appreciates him and listens to his advice when he gives it.
7. Aeneas
Aphrodite, Apollo AND Poseidon loved this dude and saved his life on separate occasions, so you know he’s a good one!!
8. Ajax the Greater
remember when Hector and Ajax had a big fight, and then they just stopped and gave each other gifts???? KINGS! Ajax is just very honourable, and he’s an excellent fighter. i like him! sad ending though :///
9. Patroclus
Did you know that Patroclus was actually older than Achilles, despite most modern adaptions portraying him as younger? Anyways, i don’t hate Patroclus. He had the spirit- he was brave and courageous, albeit a little brash.
10. Deiphobus
i feel like we always forget that Deiphobus married Helen after Paris died. the fact that Athena chooses to impersonate Deiphobus during Achilles’ fight with Hector, indicates that Deiphobus was trusted and beloved by Hector, which further suggests that they had like-minded personalities. still, he’s further down this list because of the myth where he carries Helen off and marries her- Deiphobus, my dude, did you not just watch an entire war unfold because Paris did the exact same thing? Idiots! The lot of them!
11. Menelaus
Menelaus isn’t exactly a strong fighter, but i actually kinda like him! As a king, i think that if Menelaus had simply just sat back down and been like “okay, my wife got kidnapped, let me just leave it be because a war is too much”, that would have made him look really weak. He 100% was in the right for waging war, because Paris was WRONG and never should have done what he did. I genuinely do think that Menelaus did love Helen, though I’m undecided about whether Helen reciprocated. Either way, Menelaus is okay in my books- he just did what he had to.
12. Achilles
ugh. i used to really like Achilles, but the more of the Iliad i read, the more i disliked him. He’s so arrogant and pretentious and hot-headed. He thinks he’s a god. obviously, i hate what he does to Hector, and i don’t think he was all that honourable. He was just a spoiled brat.
13. Paris
Troy’s resident dumbass. for real, Paris is just so dumb.. i don’t like him! he makes so many bad decisions, and everyone else has to pay for them. He knew that Helen was off limits- being married, and already being a mother with a child who needed her, so what did brave Paris do? Kidnap Helen! AGHHH YOU IDIOT! YOU FOOL!
14. Agamemnon
i hate this guy. i feel bad for him because he had to sacrifice his own daughter for the sake of the war.. but other than that,, he’s just so angry and scary and brutal,, and i don’t like him. also, his own wife killed him, so what does that say about the man?
**these are just my opinions,, feel free to disagree!!

deceiving the moon chapter 2 --> ferryman
pairing: god!namjoon x goddess!reader
genre: fluff, angst, smut , greek god based au
warnings: choking, mentions of death, blood mention, hair grabbing, reader gets a lil scary
Summary:   You’re a beauty. He is handsome. You’re Life. He is Death. You love him. But does he love you? There’s only one way to found out. And it’s by being the Queen.
prev. / next
It was a lovely day out in the forest by the home you shared with your mother.  Warm and the Sun God, Hoseok, drove his chariot proudly across the blue sky. The flowers had been blooming and the tree nymphs were growing strong green leaves. The river bubbled and babbled as you dipped your feet into the coolness.
It had been a long harvest for the people who lived on the Earth and you had promised the children that you would play with them while the parents worked to pick their vegetables and fruits. Your mother, the goddess of the harvest, had been quite generous this year and the harvest was bountiful and would feed many for a long time.  It took weeks for the harvest to be picked, stored, and then reseeded again. Needless to say, the children had run you ragged. A dip in the river was what you needed to relax your worn bones.
Slipping off the dress you wore, you slide further into the deep water and lie on your back.  The river would take you anywhere it pleased and you would let it.  It would be a symbolism of you letting the fatigue wash away.
Close your eyes. The river whispered.  Relax.
Smiling, you did as it said, knowing the river wouldn’t cause you harm.
Tumblr media
It was night by the time you reopened your eyes.  Selene was driving her chariot high in the sky just as her sibling was a few hours ago. You swam over to the bank and lifted yourself out of the water. Water dripped off of your body, but it didn’t bother you. The aches from your played-out bones were lifted. You felt rejuvenated. The wind blew across your body, making you shiver, but drying you off.
You had no idea how far you had drifted with the current; however, the tree nymphs would more than know.
Touching one leaf from a tree, you asked the natives of the forest, “How do I get home?”
Nothing.
“How do I get home?” You asked a little louder.
Still nothing.
“What is wrong? Have I angered you? Is Pan angry?”
Pan was the infamous Jimin, companion of the nymphs and god of the wild. Whenever he was upset, all of the forest beings he tended to become upset as well.
However, they would always talk to you. No matter what.
“Hello?”
The forest stayed quiet-unhelpful in your plight to return home to your mother who would be wondering about your disappearance.
“Please, help me,” a voice called out. It was hoarse and disembodied.
“Who’s there?” “Please, help me,” it called out again.
You stepped around the tree that still gave you no answer, and found a man with a blue aura surrounding him.
Your eyes widen as you realize why the nymphs aren’t speaking.
There was a dead man in their view and it was uncomfortable and a sight that is not normal. He should have gone straight to the Underworld instead of remaining on land.
“Sir, are you lost? Why has Thanatos not come to lead you down?” The man simply gazed at you, his dark eyes seeing right through you almost.
“I have not a clue how to help you. Thanatos is the only one who knows where the Doors to the Underworld are located…” you trailed off, remembering information your mother had told you years before. “Actually, I do know where to take you. Please, follow me. “
You knew you should have just started the trek home. The pity for the lost soul had overwhelmed all of your common senses. The natural leader and innate care that was inside of you wanted to take the man where he would not suffer and turn into a ghoul.  A suffering soul wanting nothing more than to be alive.
Also, your mother was the goddess of the cycle of life and death. It would tarnish her reputation if the daughter she bragged about could not uphold her name.
The man had no footsteps, but you could see the blue aura following you as you trekked across the mossy terrain. The directions your mother had given you had been based on the location of your home--the navigation was tricky and the only hope you had were the stars as the nymphs were still silent with the spirit in their presence.
“Always follow Orion,” your mother had told you.
Orion pointed in the direction--north--and you followed not wanting to get more lost than you were. You were still naked with a strange man following you. The thought almost made you pause, but the need to get rid of the poor man and get home to hot tea kept you going on.
Finally, after walking for miles it seemed, you came across the clearing that your mother told you to steer clear of. It was one of the many ways to get into the land of the dead.
She always feared that the man who ruled the dead himself would rise up and kidnap you. What a worrisome woman. No man would dare.
The man behind you stood next to you, awaiting instructions.
“You are to tap the grass three times. Do you have a drachma?”
He shook and lowered his head in what you deemed as shame. Your pity for him grew. He died a poor man or he was robbed and killed for his money. No wonder he had stayed on Earth.  He could not pay the fee to Jungkook, the ferryman, to cross the river Styx.
That had always angered you as a child. Why should the dead have to pay to cross the river? It never made sense!
“Fine. I will take you down myself. My earrings are drachmas. One should be enough to pay for you. Let us go. “ You saunter to the middle of the field and tap the ground three times with your foot. The man did the same.  After a minute or two nothing happening, you turned towards the man, hands on your hips.
“Well, this is a waste of-eep!”
The ground had opened without warning, dropping the both of you into a tunnel before closing. Had you been wearing any sort of clothing, your butt would have been saved from the pain, but alas, you were not. Your butt throbbed from hitting the cold ground.
Groaning, you picked yourself up and wiped the dust off of you. The man had fallen perfectly onto his feet.
“Say not a word to any of your ghastly friends.”
He nodded, a tiny smile appeared faintly on his face.
Making your way through the tunnel, you find yourself hearing the moans of the others who had faced Death. A woman could be seen with tears in her eyes as she looked forlornly at a couple who hugged each other near her.
“We’re here. Now we just have to find Jungkook and pay him his fee.”
You moved around a few of the dead folk in line and searched the banks of the Styx. There was no boat and no Jungkook in sight either. He must've already taken a load to the other side. There was no telling how long it would take for him to come back.
There really needed to be a change in this realm. Paying to go to the other side? Having to wait hours on end to wait on the ferryman? The ferryman should have something faster and bigger than the boats that humans use. Odysseus’s boat had travelled far and wide, facing great dangers before being ripped apart by Poseidon in a great rage.  Why couldn’t the ferryman of the dead have the same or better?
Fuming, you failed to hear the tell-tale ding of the boat that the ferryman rode, signaling his arrival back. The blue man waved an arm in front of you, forcing you out of your annoyance.
“Thank gods we did not have to wait so long.  I simply want to get you on that boat and then get back home.”
At that, you grabbed the blue man’s hand and stomped over to the arriving boat. He was to be the first man on the boat if you had your way. The drachma earring was already in his hand after you took it off while waiting for the ferryman.
Jungkook docked the shabby small boat that could only fit possibly 3 people including him. He was a ghastly white and seemed to have the most brittle bones. He moved slowly without care.
“Could you move a little faster? I have to get home.”
Jungkook peered at you through the hood that he wore, his doe eyes being the only innocent feature that the gods had graced him with.
“You are not dead?” “No. I am the daughter of Demeter. You know me as Persephone. I would like for this man to cross. He was wandering around the forest and scaring the tree nymphs.”
The ferryman blinked at you before turning to the blue man, who had been making it a point to look everywhere but at Jungkook.
“Let me see your payment.”
The blue man glanced at you for assurance before presenting the earring drachma. His hands shook a little.
Jungkook paused and scoffed. A sound that you did not want to hear.
“This is not sufficient. This is an earring.”
“Yes, but it is a drachma. I pierced the drachmas and placed them into my ears for emergencies. This is an emergency. They are more than sufficient. Please let him on board. I will only beg this once. He is confused and lost. I want to see him cross into the Underworld.”
Jungkook’s eyes flashed. His doe eyes had narrowed and become menacing.
“They are not sufficient.  It is fake. And you are fake as well. Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, would have no business leading the dead into the Underworld. This man will stay on the banks of the Styx and become a wraith since he does not have sufficient payment.”
A demented laugh erupted from you. You try to cover your mouth with your hands, but it was a failed attempt as the crazed giggles came in waves. Thankfully you didn’t snort. How unladylike that would be.
“You are a fool. Talking to me as if I am not higher than you. If I were not humble, I would look down upon you.”
You took the drachma from the blue man’s hands and kicked Jungkook so he would kneel in front of you.  Grabbing a tight fistful of his matted wet hair, you yanked his hand up and shoved the damned silver coin into the ferryman’s throat, making sure it cut his gum and bled.
“You should know better than to call me a fake. I have all the business to bring the dead into the Underworld. Let this man on your boat and take me as well. I would like to speak with the god of the Underworld, Namjoon, himself. There needs to be some changes around here. Starting with you.”
You let him go. He sputtered and spit out the blood that had been accumulating in his mouth before rushing to grab his rower and ushering you and the blue man onto his boat.
He dinged his bell and pushed the small boat off of the dock.
He uttered not a word the entire short journey.

Treasure hunt Part 2
Tumblr media
Pairing: dragon!Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: yandere, obsession, kidnapping, mentions of breeding, non-con.
Words: 2035.
Summary: No knight would dare to save a sacrificial bride of the dragon.
Part 1
______________
Stepping on the cold stone floor of the cave, you carefully circled around the mountains of gold and silver and moved forward. Navigating in the dark was incredibly hard, but the soft glow of gems and shining armours here and there helped you to get through.
You were in your old torn nightgown again, the fancy garments Steve had gifted you laying on the bed along all those necklaces, earrings, cuffs, broches and rings finished with precious stones. You didn't need any of those as you run towards your way out of the deep cave. The only thing you craved for was your freedom.
Almost tripping over the golden spear, you finally saw the moonlight coming from the entrance of dragon's dungeon. You held your breathe. You were so close.
In a second you sprinted towards it with gleeful abandon, thinking of the dark night sky, huge fields and mountains surrounding the cave. It was scary to think you would have to fend for yourself from now on, but you were a traveler. You could make it as long as no one tried to seize you like those villagers, now all gone thanks to the dragon's wrath. You gulped. You prayed he would sleep soundly while you sneak out in the darkness of the night.
A part of you felt guilty for leaving him after everything he had done for you, but being his little pet because he deemed you too feeble to leave was humiliating. Maybe you would find some other way to thank him for his generosity later. As of now, the only thing on your mind was getting away from this place.
You could already feel the slight chill in the air when you got closer to the huge entrance of the cave and rushed towards it, thinking of nothing else but the cool wind blowing outside. Your lips curled when you saw the moon and stars high above you. However, before you stepped on the grass, you felt a push so strong you ended up thrown far back at the rocky floor and yelped in sudden pain - you crushed your elbow, blood seeping from it on the cold stone beneath you. Tears sting at your eyes as you hugged your arm and bit down on your lip to stop screaming.
What was that? What had pushed you so hard it sent you flying? You saw nothing in front of you, no scary creatures guarding the entrance of the prison you were locked in. Yet something didn't want you leave.
... or rather someone.
In a few moments you heard a distant sound of flapping gaunt wings and stilled. You had awoken the dragon with your cry, and now he was coming for you. You had failed terribly.
His blue eyes were glowing in the dark brighter than gems as he flew to you in his true form, big as a mountain, while you stared at his scaled golden wings with horror. His monstrous shadow covered you from above before he started landing, his gaze disturbing, anxious. A flap of his wings set off a little tornado, and you pressed yourself to the floor in panic. He was going to eat you. Burn you. Make you suffer for your disobedience. You had to stay in the cave instead of opposing his wish to protect you.
You sobbed quietly once the dragon had partly changed his form in haste - although his body was human, his sharp claws and long tale belonged to the dragon, his new appearance strange and frightening. He hurried towards you, his eyes on your blood-stained arm.
"What happened to you, my love?" Steve asked, bending over and reaching for your elbow. "Why did you leave your bed?"
What could you answer? With eyes full of tears, you kept your mouth shut, watching him growing with worry at your silence. You had betrayed his trust.
"I will heal your wound, stay still." He sighed when you chewed on your lower lip, afraid to look at him.
The ointment suddenly appeared in his hand as if by magic, and Steve had torn the cotton fabric forcefully to look at the blood seeping from your arm. He said nothing at all as he wiped the wound and applied fresh-smelling balm on your skin. You felt disgusted at yourself: your savior had been so patient and kind, yet you preferred to escape without expressing your gratitude.
"You gave up all the gifts I brought you, my love." The dragon stated calmly as he finished. "Why? Don't be silent, sweetheart. I demand you to speak."
Desperately wiping the tears falling again and again with the back of your hand, you nodded. You could not bring youself to open your mouth.
"Why?" He asked one more time, his eyes the same color as the dark sky again. "Why do you want to leave me, my love? Have I not treated you kindly? Have I not given you everything you wanted?"
"I want to see the night sky." You muttered under your breathe, looking at the torn hem of your nightgown. "I want to feel the grass under my feet and listen to the chirping of the crickets."
"You are not my prisoner, sweetheart. I can bring you wherever you want me to."
A whine rebounded from your chest at his words.
"I don't want to be a sacrificial lamb." You sobbed, shaking your head desperately. "I don't want to be a pet. I don't want to ask for permission every time I step outside the cave."
"You are not my pet." The dragon whipped his huge sharp tail with such force it ruined one of the mountains of gold close to it, and you squeezed your eyes shut, terrified of his temper tantrums. "You are the one I've chosen to keep by my side, shield from the dangers of the world and share my treasures with you so you would share yours. Why isn't it enough? What else do I have to do?"
He pressed his lips together in a thin line, his claws dangerously close to your body as if he were going to sank them in your sensitive flesh and tear you apart. He would kill you, oh he would, you felt it in your bones.
"I have nothing to give you, Steve, Sarah's son." You uttered and finally raised your head to meet his darkened gaze. "And I want nothing from you. Why do you want to keep me? You won't profit from it."
His eyes softened at the sight of your flushed face, wet from tears still streaming down your cheeks and chin. You looked so pathetic in front of him in your old nightgown, degraded bloodstains covering once white fabric, yet so beautiful, so lovely it enraged him to think he could lose you despite all his efforts. It bewildered him how fast he had grown used to your calming presence, your smell, your voice. You said you had nothing to give him, but you were so wrong. He wanted you. He wanted to feel you close, see your pretty face, touch your tender body heavy with his child, your breasts full of milk... He wanted you like no other treasure of his. No one but you could give him what he desired the most.
All of a sudden, he jumped at you and covered your trembling shoulders with his callous palms, his hungry mouth devouring yours while you were frozen on the spot. His hot tongue had poked at your lips, and you gave up to him, granting him access and barely recognizing what you were doing. It felt like a shock jolted him, followed by a pleasant tingling, and the dragon slammed his mouth down against yours with a groan.
"You have a lot to give me." He crooned when you were left gasping for air, astounded and confused. "You have something no one but you can grant me, sweetheart."
You gasped once his clawed hands cupped your soft belly through the thin cotton fabric, watching the man panting and looming above you. You realized just how wrong you were, thinking of him as your protector, a knight in shining armor while he was exactly who villagers told you he was - a hungry monster craving for his bride's warm flesh, just in a different way.
"No, no." You tried pushing him back, and his sharp tail hit the ground loudly, making you shiver. "P-please, I'm only human. I can't do it."
"My mother was human too." Letting out a chuckle, Steve lowered the nightgown on your shoulders while you desperately clenched the fabric in your arm, your other palm on his chest to prevent him from coming closer. "Why are you afraid? I won't harm you. In the end, this is the destiny of all women, isn't it? To become a good wife and mother. Surely, it is better to belong to me rather than any filthy peasant?"
You couldn't keep arguing, knowing your words would fall in deaf ears, and tried breaking free from his grip only to make the dragon more excited as he climbed on top of you, lifting the hem of your nightgown as his hands trailed upward. His palms were burning your thighs when you whimpered, shaking and moving beneath him like a snake. Why was he doing it? Did he force himself on each and every bride of his and got rid of them later once he got bored?
"Please, please let me go." You pleaded, feeling him leaving hot kisses down your neck and shoulders, his lips dry but soft. "Let me leave, I beg of you!"
"Oh you can't leave, sweetheart. You've eaten the dragon fruit, remember?" His toothy smile made you feel sick. "Now you are bound to me."
"Like all of them were?" You yelled in disgust and despair, staring at the dragon's hollowed blue eyes. "Did you truly let them go as you said? Or did you eat them when you no longer loved them?"
Your words made him laugh as he bared your breasts, ripping the fabric apart with his claws but avoiding touching your skin before his hands fully tranformed into human ones. Dragon's enourmous tail layed close to you, its razor-edged tip reminding you Steve could kill you within a few seconds.
Then he stroked your wet cheek with his fingers and cooed softly, his gaze darkening at the sight of your angered face. "None of them deserved to stay, sweetheart. I let them go. I don't know why you insist I eat humans as if I were a lowly beast, but if you're so eager to see me doing it, I will eat you."
Your mouth tasted like copper when you bit on your lip too hard, missing the mischievous look in Steve's bright blue eyes as you flinched from his touch, his tail now pressing you to the cold stony floor. The dragon backed down a bit, and you saw how he hungrily looked at your thighs and belly. He prepared to devour you, tear your flesh apart, and you were to die at his hands for your stubbornness and stupidity. Trembling like a leaf, you shut your eyes, preparing for the end.
Then you winced from a tender touch, Steve caressing your naked mound with his hand lovingly, his eyes watching you intently. What was that? Was he going to sank his teeth into?..
You covered your mouth with your palm as you felt his long wet tongue on your gentle folds. Gods, it would be even more painful than you had ever imagined. This perverted monster wanted to devour your womanhood. But before you could cry out in pain, you suddenly mewled from his pleasurable kitten licks and squirmed, trying to get up to see what the dragon was doing.
"W-wha..."
"I'm sorry, my dear." Steve smirked, raising his head a bit and pressing a shameless kiss to your mound. "But this is how I like to eat cute little girls like you. So, keep this pretty hand away from your mouth and let me show you how good I can make you feel."

“I like bad bitches who be ragin’.”
                —Rage | Rico Nasty
Word Count: 1.2K Pairing: Midoriya Izuku X Reader Context: Everything is the same, but you and Izu are married and have a kid named Miko. And I’m not sure what your quirk is exactly. Telekinesis? Idk. Whatever it is, it’s scary as hell.  Warnings: kidnapping, use of guns, angst (kinda), the kid remains relatively unharmed, but someone goes feral
All characters are 18+
A/N: You heard it in the lyrics. Izuku likes them unhinged. Enjoy <3
Midoriya Izuku | Rage
Everything was numb as you ran down the dark hall of the abandoned building. You couldn’t think. Someone was trying to talk to you—maybe it was Todoroki, or was that Iida?—but it was hard to decipher their words.
After three days of endless searching, running, and crying, there wasn’t much left in your mind past your missing son and husband. And now that you were so close to finding them, anything else was just a waste of your time.
When you turned the corner, you gasped in relief. Despite the darkness, the familiar thrum of air your family carried around them touched your skin. Jirou had said they were a few kilometers away, but you could feel them. Even the tormented bags beneath your eyes couldn’t mask your hope.
“They’re here,” you whispered. “I can practically see—”
Your thoughts were interrupted by the faint but piercing sound of a gunshot.
By the time Deku’s heart began pumping again, his entire body was screaming. It ached in places that made him nauseous and he wanted nothing more than to leave. And he could. The ropes around his wrists and ankles were nothing more than paper bracelets compared to the magnitude of his quirk. Nearly a decade of having One for All easily surpassed whatever physical restraints any villain could put on him.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that Izuku could obliterate this place to hell and leave in the next five minutes. But he wouldn’t.
He couldn’t.
And it was all because of the little boy in the damn cage.
Lurch laughed with deranged glee. In his hand was a pistol aimed upward, bullet miles away from the boy’s head. Once Izuku registered what had happened, he happily sunk to the ground as his hair was let go.
“Papa?” Miko called out.
The cool pavement against his forehead brought him minor relief. His heart was about to leave his ribs and he felt his body prickle after the onslaught of fear that attacked him.
“It’s okay, Miko,” he breathed. “You’re okay,” he reassured for both himself and the boy. His son hadn’t been shot. He was still alive.
“Did you see your face!? HAHAHAHA! That was beautiful!” the leader guffawed.
Izuku coughed to catch his breathe. He couldn’t do this anymore. It was too much. No amount of physical torture could amount to this.
“Okay, you win. I surrender. Just let my son go,” he whispered, voice pinched and weak. Painful tears dropped down his nose.
Lurch smirked. “I thought you’d say that. Luckily for you, I don’t believe in killing kids. I’ve got morals,” he shrugged.
“You’re crazy,” Midoriya muttered.
“So I’ve heard,” Lurch chuckled. The fox-like man nodded his head to his lackies. “Tie the kid up. We’ll dump him somewhere after I handle this.”
He loaded his pistol and aimed the barrel to Izuku’s forehead.
“Papa!? What’s happenin’!?” Miko cried. He couldn’t understand why his father was smiling his hero smile at a time like this. He wanted it to stop. He just wanted to go home.
“I love you, Miko.” Izuku simply said, trying to keep his voice strong. “Look away, okay? Be strong for me and your mother/father.”
The toddler continued to cry and question what was going on, but Izuku used all his strength to avert his gaze to the ground. He quickly made peace with the fact that this was probably where he’d die. He had a good run. As long as his son and his s/o were okay, he could die content.
But not without getting the last word.
The person behind him lifted his head up by his hair as Lurch spoke, “Any last words before I blow your brains out?”
“They’re coming.”
“…Pardon?”
Midoriya smirked at the man that would give him his end.
“If you just offed me alone, they might’ve gone easy on you. But the fact that you touched our son means all bets are off. They won’t rest until they find you. And when they do, they’ll take down each and every person in this pathetic gang with a vengeance that could make the devil shiver. You thought I was a pain in the ass? His mother/father will be your worst nightmare.”
The glint in the hero’s verdant irises made the man shiver. Lurch wanted to believe that he was saying this to unnerve him, but he couldn’t shake off the raw truth that radiated from the hero.
The villain clicked his tongue and held the gun with both hands.
“Prepare to meet your end.”
Izuku felt a sliver of hope as he remembered the person that was his s/o. You were never a fan of unnecessary violence. However, he knew there were things that surpassed the extent of your mercy and this was one of those things.
He hated that he had to leave you, but he knew you would handle it. You’d handle everything like you always did.
Y/N, Miko, I love you.
The sound of the gun going off was surely to bring death to Izuku, however he didn’t fall to the ground for that reason. The bullet never reached him. He fell because he was let go.
There was a moment of silence, confusion in the air, before a startled scream choked Lurch’s men. They held their necks and were forced to the ground as they gasped for the air that was suddenly cut off from them.
The gun flew out of Lurch’s grasp before it was decimated by the bullet that should’ve been in Deku’s head.
“What the fu—”
He suddenly found a hand wrapped around his throat, pressing his trachea close. The fox-man gripped the hand, struggling against it but could only let out a strangled gasp as he was lifted from the ground. As the surrounding heroes went to lay aid to Izuku and Miko, Lurch attempted to kick and throttle his way out. That was before his eyes finally met his attacker and a shiver so cold nearly paralyzed his spine.
The searing rage that burned white hot through your veins overtook your body like a physical cloud of thunder. Wisps of black and white dauntingly danced around you as the walls of the abandoned building darkened into something murky and dangerous. The only thing visible in the blackness of your fury were two glowing pairs of crimson sclera.
But that wasn’t just anger. Lurch knew anger.
What he saw in your eyes was hell.
What should’ve been your mouth cracked open into a cursed grin.
“Found you~” you sung.
Lurch gave a horrifying scream that shook the walls.
Off to the side, Izuku, who had been released form his binds and was now holding a passed out Miko, looked on at the scene. Call him crazy, but as you shoved the villain into the concrete, he let a smile of relief kiss his lips.
Iida was too busy informing the team of their location, but Todoroki had front row seats to the display of your built-up rage. He winced when all the villains were thrown into the walls.
He then gave his friend a wary side-eye when he chuckled. Izuku couldn’t help but gaze at you with adornment. He held his child tighter and spoke lovingly.
“That’s my Y/N.”

16. Bitter [ao3]
Alex felt like he was trapped in an alternate universe.
He’d had food with Michael before and definitely had eyed the Antarian section at the grocery store, but he’d never eaten it before. Not only was he eating it, though, he was sitting at the table with another Antarian family‒the Evans. They weren’t staring at him, he didn’t think, but it sure as hell felt like it.
“Hey,” Alex whispered, leaning into Michael as inconspicuously as possible. He hummed and leaned into him as well to show he was listening all while using what looked like a rectangle palette knife to shovel an amount of what looked like tiny rice covered in some weirdly thick, beige-colored sauce into his mouth. “What is this stuff?”
“It’s called cluivaxo,” Michael said, accent perfect. Alex had been living in the Guerin home for a week and a half so far and he’d already learned more about Antarians than he had just by dating one. He didn’t even realize what he didn’t know. Michael’s parents spoke in Antarian half the time, usually when they were speaking to themselves or only each other, and Michael apparently was fluent even though Alex had never heard him speak it before. “It’s kinda like a grain, think like a mix between quinoa and rice tasting but a little more bitter. The sauce is, um, kinda like a water base with mashed iocua and ziocua. I can’t think of an Earth counterpart, honestly. It’s good, try it.”
Alex nodded, racking his brain trying to pinpoint what the hell those even were. He had taken an agriculture class, but they didn’t really touch much on Antarian produce. And that was just assuming it was fucking produce at all.
Hesitantly, Alex took the palette knife-looking thing and got a bit of the cluivaxo onto it before raising it to his mouth. All of them were staring this time, waiting for his reaction. It was bitter, but the sauce was weirdly spicy and sweet at the same time which just juxtaposed all of it in a really weird way. It wasn’t bad, but he’d never had anything like it before and he couldn’t help but make a face.
“Oh, come on,” Michael laughed, “It’s not that bad.”
“It’s a traditional meal,” Louise said. She was Isobel and Max’s mother and she was extremely serious around him in a way that made Alex nervous. Michael’s dad was definitely a force to be reckoned with, but he had made it clear he didn’t hate Alex. She hadn’t quite done that yet and she didn’t even try to whenever she was checking the way Michael’s hand was healing. “The iocua and ziocua were homegrown by a woman a few blocks away. Her mother was on the crash and was the reason we had the means to continue planting them. She’s the reason we’re able to still have these meals.”
“It’s good,” Alex said quickly, “Just different.”
“Mom, chill,” Isobel said.
“I’m chill,” Louise insisted. Alex avoided eye contact and Michael reached beneath the table for his hand.
Alex had never had a problem holding his own before. Admittedly, he was still shaken up by what his father had done. He was waiting for him to show up outside the Guerin residence, waiting for him to do something worse than he’d already done.
He shouldn’t be having a family dinner right now.
Alex ate and let the subject change, let Nora take over talking about whatever with Louise. Ezra and Mr. Evans had a pretty in depth conversation about some political thing that would affect Antarians that Alex was sure he heard of but couldn’t remember specifics. Max and Michael and Isobel spoke. Alex sat quietly.
And it was fine until Alex was addressed again.
“So, Alex,” Mr. Evans said, “Have you spoken to your father since the incident?”
Alex didn’t mean to drop his utensil, but he did. His heart thudded in his chest, gut-twisting and throat tightening. He didn’t want to talk about his father. He didn’t want to talk about the incident. Michael squeezed his hand tighter.
“Xorocua,” Ezra’s voice said, deep and threatening, “Not now.”
“It’s an honest question. Don’t you want to know? I mean, you’re housing a Manes, Ezra. Are you not waiting for the next shoe to drop?” Xorocua, apparently, asked. Alex’s throat seemed to tighten even more and it took a lot to take a breath. “And what if he is speaking to him? I doubt this would be the first time he had a little spy.”
“A spy?” Ezra shot back, “He’s a child.”
“He’s nearly 18, that’s hardly a child.”
“What are you missing about what happened that night?” Ezra said, “And you have no idea what happened before that. He may be named Manes, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve compassion.”
“Compassion is one thing, but shelter? Moving him in? And what happens when Jesse Manes accuses you of kidnapping? What happens when he reports you? Do you really think you’re going to get out of this one?”
“Dad!” Max said and, well, at least he tried.
“This is not the time,” Nora said, her hand going to her husband’s shoulder. Louise did the same to Xorocua, though it seemed to be for a different reason.
Michael didn’t seem to care about any of it as he scooted his chair back and stood up, tugging Alex with him. Attention snapped to them and Michael, beautiful and brave and strong Michael, ignored them. He wrapped his good arm around Alex’s waist and let him lean against him as he brought him outside.
Alex tried to catch his breath and held onto his shirt. Once they sat on the front steps of the porch, he went to clinging to his body. Michael’s good hand went to the back of his head and he held him close. Tears slipped from Alex’s eyes without his consent.
“Shh, I’ve got you,” Michael whispered, gently scratching his scalp, “He’s just a dick.”
“I haven’t talked to him, I swear I haven’t talked to him,” Alex insisted, sniffling as he tried to calm down. When did it switch? When did Alex become the one who needed saving?
Well. He knew when. But fuck.
“I believe you,” Michael said.
“But he’s gonna try soon, I know he is. I swear I won’t let him down anything to you or your mom or dad. I-I’ll go home if I have to, but‒”
“No, you aren’t, Alex. You’re staying at my house, in my bed with the door open so my mom doesn’t think we’re doing anything scandalous,” Michael said, kissing the top of his head. Alex huffed a laugh, but it didn’t stay. None of the adults had come outside yet, but Alex couldn’t hear them either. The thought that they were talking about him made him a little nauseous.
He stayed against Michael’s shoulder until he could breathe easy again.
“I hate this,” he whispered. Michael paused his petting.
“Hate… what?”
“Hate that I can’t talk about my dad without freaking out. Hate that you’re hurt because of me, hate that I’m mooching off your parents. Hate that I’m constantly looking over my shoulder. Mr. Evans was right, we are just waiting for the other shoe to drop,” Alex said, sniffling. Michael sighed, again combing his fingers through his hair.
“It’ll be fine.”
Alex huffed a laugh, shaking his head. It wouldn’t be fine. It would never be fine.
“And you. You are just… totally fine,” Alex said, raising his head. Michael’s hand slowly slipped from his hair. “How are you so fine? I don’t fucking understand. Why aren’t you as freaked out as I am? You should be more freaked out, you’re the one who got hurt.”
Michael blinked slowly.
“You don’t think I’m freaking out?”
“You’ve been really fucking calm this entire time, yeah.”
“Alex, I can’t go five minutes without touching you or I start getting extremely paranoid. I look over my shoulder constantly. I triple check the locks on my windows. I’m not, like, fine,” Michael said. Alex’s face burned hot and his skin felt prickly all of the sudden, his eyes not meeting Michael’s. “You know me, I’m a wreck on a good day. But… you need me right now, so I can smile and cuddle you because that’s all I can do. And I can take you away when things get scary. You don’t have to be the strong one always.”
“But I should be in this situation,” Alex insisted. Michael shrugged.
“Not necessarily. But, if it’ll make you feel better, I’ll be a baby sometimes and make you feed me or defend me from assholes more often,” Michael offered. Alex huffed a laugh, shaking his head.
His gaze went out to the empty streets, to the bright headlights. It was quiet, almost too quiet. They hadn’t seen a car drive by since they came outside. It was silent enough that Alex could hear his heartbeat in his ears.
“You’re my favorite person, Alex,” Michael whispered, “So let me take care of you, okay?”
“Okay.”
Nora and Ezra came outside a few seconds later. Alex and Michael both went to stand, but Ezra sat beside Alex and Nora sat beside Michael. The four of them just stared out to the street on the Evans’ porch steps.
“Alex, no matter what your father decides to do, we will handle it,” Nora said softly, “And Louise and Xoro apologize for being too harsh on you. They don’t know you and they’re just protective of Michael.”
“I understand,” Alex said easily. And he did. If the tables were turned, he probably would feel the same way. “But… I don’t expect you to be put out if my father comes after you.”
“What your father did was extremely wrong and Michael being Antarian doesn’t make it less so. If we need to take it to the police, we will,” Ezra said simply.
Alex swallowed, his eyes drifting down to Michael’s hand. It was still wrapped up to keep it together. Everyone at school thought it was run over. He still couldn’t feel his pinky and his ring finger. Mr. and Mrs. Evans said it was too early to tell if that was permanent or not.
It was wrong.
“But we didn’t report it then…”
“It doesn’t matter. Besides, you’re almost 18. If you start bringing up what he’s done to you over the years, it’ll be in his best interest to just let you stay with us,” Nora said. She reached over Michael to put her hand on his knee. Tears pricked his eyes all over again. Part of him hated himself for that. He was so weak. “We’ll keep you safe. That’s what adults are supposed to do.”
Alex clenched his jaw to keep his composure, blinking rapidly. Nora gave his knee a squeeze before she stood.
“Michael, come tell Isobel and Max goodbye and thank Mr. and Mrs. Evans for looking at your hand again,” she said. Michael gave a little whine.
“But they were being dicks.”
“Yes, well, adulthood also means knowing who your friends are even if you disagree on something,” Nora said, “Come.”
Michael groaned but stood up, going back inside. That left Alex with Ezra. He knew that just meant they were going to have a talk. Because Ezra was a big fan of talks. The more he did it, the less Alex minded. If he talked, it meant Alex understood every single thing he meant.
“I don’t want to say this in front of Michael or Nora, but I think we are both extremely aware of what your father is capable of,” he said, voice low. Alex took a shaky breath and nodded. “So the moment you notice anything, you tell me. I want to prevent anything from happening.”
Alex nodded easily.
“Yes, Sir.”
“Cua,” Ezra responded. Alex blinked and looked at him.
“Huh?”
“Cua. Instead of Sir, it’s Cua,” Ezra said, slowing it down a bit so Alex could internalize the accent and mouth shapes that went with it. He nodded.
“Yes, Cua.”
Ezra huffed a laugh and ruffled his hair.
By the time Alex and Michael ended up in the backseat on the way home, Alex was tired but more content than he’d been in awhile. They were looking out for him, they were welcoming him.
That was nice.

Long before the Winters come into play, a monster stalks the Forbidden Forest that surrounds the Village. Karl Heisenberg is sent to investigate, and heads deeper into darkness to find his prey, a thorn on his side and someone just like him. (Heisenberg x OC)

chapter 8 - great expectations
SFW, but usual blood/gore warning. around 3.5K words.
He barely remembers getting dressed and returning to his quarters after such a relaxing shower. At some point he had slipped inside his pants and slid an undershirt on, thrown himself at the desk chair and poured over plans and schematics, a mess of paper and far more motor oil than necessary. He had written and read until his eyes had grown tired, like every other night, fighting off sleep to the best of his ability. He could sleep when he was dead, or when she was dead, when he was far away from this hellhole, when nothing awaited him come morning.
Some nights he would skip it altogether, keep his eyes wide open when his mind was too fraught with dreadful thoughts. He knew what would come if he finally closed his eyes, the memories that he worked so hard to put away. A dream, it was only a dream, he would tell himself over and over, but it was hard to believe it when he would wake up drenched in sweat and tears, throat sore from screaming at the top of his lungs, that all too familiar twinge of sadness and terror balling up in his chest. It was hard to believe and hard to forget, because he would see it when he held the wrench, when he brought a cup to his lips, when he pressed the buttons to get the conveyor belt running. His hands shook, his fingers lost their strength, and then we would remember it all. It was not real, but it had been once, and he is unsure whether the knowledge makes things better or worse.
Heisenberg remembers nothing but the familiar tingle on his fingertips, the numbness that overtook him, anxiety and fear washing over him like he had been engulfed in a sea of darkness. The scribbles on the paper would be evidence of how he had lost control the night before, how he had pressed the pencil hard to try and force himself to focus, to keep going. The cut on his forehead would tell him that he exhaustion had taken the reigns and he had fallen face first into the table, head hitting the metal clamp and inadvertently helping lull him to sleep.
Much to his surprise, that night, when Heisenberg closed his eyes, he was greeted with the blissful sight of nothing. Head void of dreams, of nightmares, body protesting with the awkward way he’d scattered over his work station, but nothing else. The cut had stained some papers with blood and drool had ruined some others; his arms felt numb in the morning, as they had been left hanging off the desk with his head and neck as the only support. It took him a good few stretches of his hands to feel his fingers again - all things considered, this had been a much better night than most.
If the night was almost-pleasant, the morning was anything but. A hot gust of air blew in when the factory kicked into gear with full force, like it did every day around this time, the whirring of blades and purring of engines his usual white noise. Only this time there was an intruder, a high pitched, repetitive sound that threatened to pierce his eardrums - he woke up to the incessant sound of his phone ringing. The thing sat just inside his office, an old landline that Miranda had insisted on him keeping in case she needed to speak to him urgently. She would call him every now and again, but more often than not it was his siblings that would bother him. Moreau would call to ask if he had found any old VHS tapes or old fiction books, Donna would ask him for blades and all manner of crazy-looking schematics built. Alcina rarely called, but given her interest in the bloodsucking beast that prowled the woods, he was certain that would change very soon.
Not that he intended to answer any of them, naturally. Nine times out of ten he was nowhere near the dumb phone to answer, which made Mother angry and him even angrier, because the last thing he wanted was to interrupt important research to tend to any of their petty, cruel whims. When she called, invariably he would be thrust into something barbarous and despicable; she wanted someone kidnapped, or killed, or turned into a monstrosity. She wanted him to spy or intimidate, put on his best scary mask and drill the fear of the Black God into someone’s mind. She never once asked if his research went well, if he was doing well, and though it had been years of such abuse, he could not help but feel the sting of it every time he heard her speak. Somewhere deep down, he still held onto a sliver of hope that she cared; and she would always dig deeper and deeper, until she found it and choked his feelings to death.
Heisenberg lazily lifted his head, right arm coming up to wipe away the drool at the corner of his mouth, eyes hurting under the bright industrial lights coming in through the window. A strand of hair had sneaked into his eye when he blinked, such a small nuisance upsetting him even further, a simple strand of hair that felt like the devil’s toothpick stabbing his eyeball. The phone had stopped for a few seconds only to resurge like the wailing of a baby, and the ringing prompted him to shoot up and off his armchair in a flash, too disoriented and uncomfortable to fully register what was going on. He almost fell on his way to the phone, tripping over his unbuttoned pants, annoyance levels rising with every step. He rubbed his eyes as he approached the offending object, flicked the room’s light on like it would help him hear better. At least it would keep him awake.
“Heisenberg,” came the voice from the other side, sweet and soft-spoken, domineering and stubborn. “Any news on our quarry?” Our quarry, he mouthed to himself mockingly. As if any of it was a team effort, as if he had anything to gain from this little adventure. Well, as it turns out, he did, but lady super-sized bitch didn’t need to know that. The damn hair was still stuck somewhere between his eyelashes. “A little bird told me you left the forest quite late last night.” A little bird would die a horrible, horrible death as soon as he discovered who it was that had agreed to his sister’s asinine plan of meddling in his business.
“Oh hey, sis. Surprised you get reception all the way up there.” He heard her huff of annoyance, chuckled in response. It bought him enough time to figure out exactly what he would tell her. Hey, yeah, turns out your monster is actually this gorgeous lady with a pair of tits big enough to rival any fertility goddess’? “Slippery little thing, that monster of yours. Found some bodies, some blood,” truth was always easier to tell than lies. “Caught a glimpse of something, too, but it disappeared in the middle of the trees before I could grab it. Little shit gave me the loop, took me quite a while to find the way back.” Heisenberg could practically hear her chest rising and falling as she breathed excitedly, happy to hear something, anything, even if it was a blatant lie. He could hear her nails hitting against wood impatiently, stringing together a tune he did not recognize. “What do you want with this thing anyway, needing a new pet?” Quite the funny thought, really. He was suddenly curious to know if the little witch would put up a fight as a tight collar was snapped around her neck.
“Am I right to assume you will return to the forest soon for another search?” Oh, most definitely, though his intentions were far different from what she expected. She continued without waiting for his answer, clearly aware that he would retort in the crassest manner possible. “I will see you handsomely rewarded once I have it in my possession, brother. House Dimitrescu does not forget such acts of service.” And there it was, brother, the greatest honor she would grant him, a compliment reserved for moments like these, when she desperately needed his help and no one else’s would do.
Blah, blah, blah. What was she going to offer him, a maiden? A scrawny lady with bruises big enough to make one believe her skin was purple, bones showing through her ribs and threatening to poke out at any moment? He had long decided against experimenting on women - they were always so weak and fragile, he would tell himself. Had long left behind his whoring days, too, far too focused on his research to let himself be distracted by a pair of tits. Oh, right; the irony. What else could she give him? A casket of wine made of blood of an innocent, with its thick bouquet of brutality and mercilessness?
She could offer him riches, influence, her undying loyalty. The only reward he wanted was to see her fractured into a thousand tiny pieces, nothing left of her and her daughters but the crystal cores they would dissolve into. The jewelry he would keep, the crystals he would sell to the Duke for a hefty price; the dust he would gather, send to an artist to mix into paint and commission a portrait of himself in his best work attire, his beat up trench coat and ragged hat. To make a statement, his fly would be open and his dick out in the painting, forever immortalizing him as the large, hard Lord of the Castle. With the money he would buy the best brewery he could find and have it make the worst beer, call it Lady D’s Fresh Piss, all in her honor, naturally.
He would bring over his suitcase and set up shop in the castle, tear down every reference to the Dimistrescu family and replace it with cheap replicas of innocent, idyllic landscapes, and dozens of horrible quality photos of his face. The extra large milk pail she called a hat would be used for entertainment when he gathered guests over, shoot the ball into the dead lady’s hat or take another shot. His soldats would clean house, kill every last monster in the basement, replace those god-awful torture tools with something else, anything else - maybe pigs, to pay homage to his dear sister. He would then fire all maids and forbid them from ever setting foot inside the place again, hire an all-male crew to tend to the estate and leave him well enough alone. On a clear day he would grab all of their expensive dresses, the paperwork that dignified her as gentry, her snob literature and photo albums, pile them all into the courtyard and burn it all, the vineyard alongside it, then light his cigar in the blaze and smoke it while facing the inferno, the flames reflecting beautifully on the lenses of his glasses. Once it had all turned to cinders he would strip before going through the front door, waltz around the place while rubbing his dick on all of her favorite spots. He would dump all of her fine wine in the biggest, smelliest cesspool, grab the revenue from the last shipment and throw it from atop the church in the village to watch the peasants fight each other for riches that were supposed to be hers.
Perhaps best of all, he would invite Alcina’s little monster over, encourage her to come in while dragging all the dirt and mud gathered on her bare feet. He would give her a tour of the castle, allow her to decorate every room with a harvest wreath or handmade candle, let her cover the posh couches with handmade quilted throws. Together they would roll up the fancy carpet and throw it in the fireplace, lay down the most unrefined of straw tapestries in its place. The mantle would be a display of their crudeness and peasantry, his schematics and forgotten bits of scrap metal, her incenses and rune-inscribed bones and whatever else her little heart desired. He would allow her to have her pick of his sister’s jewelry, try and convince her to take them all, to wear nothing but her favorite set as she danced under the skylight of the atelier, the flames of all tolling bells and the bright shine of the moon as the only source of light for their unholy, delicious rituals.
When silence settled he would grab her waist and pull her closer, whisper in her ear the most delectable of invitations. Together they would desecrate every last corner of the castle, from the halls to the belfry and the stairwells to the balconies, the cries of agony the place had come to be known for replaced by their sounds of pleasure. When they were far too tired to continue they would work together in the kitchen, he would help her prepare a bloodless meal that they would savor watching the wide open doors to the courtyard. He would sit at Alcina’s spot, ignore every single piece of flatware and eat with his bare hands, audibly chew on every morsel. He would draw every curtain and open every window, let the gelid gale wipe away any trace of her and her daughters. Late at night, he would carry his prized lady up the stairs to her quarters, gently place her on the giant bed and cover her with the decadent expensive sheets. She would ask him to stay, and he would, hold her close as she slumbered and he stared at the top of the canopy and let out a tired sigh almost a hundred years in the making. He would be free, and he would have claimed it all, a fitting end to his sordid tale.
If he wasn’t sure Alcina would rise from the grave and put herself back together out of sheer spite, the whole thing didn’t sound half bad.
Heisenberg barely registered whatever she said after, far too immersed in his little happy place to give a shit. She had talked for what seemed like hours, something about training the beast to present it to Mother Miranda, to allow her to experiment and find out what sort of things they could learn of such a splendorous mutation. Some illusions of grandeur sprinkled here and there, the very obvious wish to become the best, most adored child. He felt like Alcina wished Mother would descend upon her in a ray of light, to lift her up and away towards the heavens to take a place at her side. What a load of crap, though he had to admit it was far more than he would have given her credit for when she came up with this sordid little plan.
At some point, she finally realized she had said too much, exposed too much of her grand plan, had become too excited with the prospect of having that admiration within her reach. That, or she had grown tired of sounding too friendly with the riffraff. She quickly finished saying her piece and hung up without waiting for him to say goodbye, wishing him good luck on the hunt, reminding him she had great expectations. As did he.
He found his mind wandering back to his little witch in the woods as he placed the handle back on its hook. Where did she even come from, anyway? Was she born in that miserable place, brought up among the failed experiments of this village in middle of nowhere, Romania? Did she know how to use money, or were the lei they used foreign to her? He had it in good confidence that she could read, considering all the books he had seen around, but did she know how to write? Had she ever seen electricity at work, or had her life been lived under candlelight? Could she drive a car? Operate a telephone? Did she have toilet paper in her outhouse or did she wipe her ass with ferns or something of the sort? How did she find out about nail polish, of all things?
Had she ever lived outside that lousy shack? Did she ever get a taste of luxury, of fine wine, scrumptious desserts, someone to cook and feed her, maidens to attend to her? Had she always worked the land and tended to livestock, gathered herbs and berries in the forest? Had she cared for her parents or grandparents and learned her trade then, offered her services to lice-ridden villagers when they were no longer in the picture? Had they ever met, some day when he was too busy with his own sorrow to notice her, to take in the beauty that had come to haunt him so? Had she ever shared her body with someone, with a lucky lad or lass that caught her vulnerable and willing on a lonely night? Did she… Did she think of him, as much as he had begun to think of her?
Her shroud of blood and mystery, alongside Alcina’s excitement over the prospect of having her torn apart, had a strange feeling seep within his bones, a pang of anguish tugging at his heartstrings. All the more reason for him to hide the truth for as long as he could - even if the witch turned out to be just really clever with herbs and some hallucinogens, he wouldn’t give dear sister the pleasure of sinking those rusty nails into her flesh. Not when he had so much to discover.
Finally alone with his thoughts and away from his fantasies, he looked down at himself to see his shirt tousled, the fly on his pants undone. He had slept alright, although passed out might be a better description. In his defense, he had tried to fall asleep like a normal human being: sat down and let his mind go blank, eyes firmly shut to try and get some rest. But try as he might, he always startled as he was about to drift off, the sight of the dark horse dissolving into a puddle of blood right before his very eyes, of Sturm’s decapitated arms almost comically flying in his direction. Rage followed soon after - another failure, another waste of time. How would he make that thing rise again? He was then caught in the infinite loop of thinking, and planning, and burning out in frustration, until he could carry on no more.
Of course. He remembered it now, what had finally lulled him to sleep, in the throes of his despair. The way she had distracted him with a well-placed, gentle hand on his face, to work her magic and make his pain disappear, to preserve the secret she worked so hard to maintain. The gash on his hand that had left no trace, the lycans and moroaicas dead but not quite. The way she seemed to have a knack for putting things back together again, to prop them up on strings and have them dance like a puppeteer would. If he brought her here into his den, allowed her a glimpse of his work - would she be able to help him? Would she want to?
At first, he had thought the whole thing was bullshit. So maybe she knew a few plants, knew how to make a mean incense to get him high as a kite and seeing shit. Maybe she had some medical training and could put a nose back in its place, big deal. Maybe she held the world record on fastest, most painless stitching of human flesh, and was in cahoots with the Duke to use whatever seemingly magical substance he put in his antiseptic solution. Whatever she was smoking to say that she could actually heal things, that she might just be able to murder Mother Miranda - he wanted some.
And yet the more he thought of it, the less sense it all made. Her touch was unmistakable when she held his chin up, when the monster’s wispy tendrils had done the same. There was no doubt that she had, indeed, healed his wounds. The decapitated heads were very much alive, the blood pungent, the bite as painful as it should be. If she had killed them, how had she brought them back to life? How had she kept them alive on borrowed time, negated the effects the very creator of the Cadou could not avoid? How far did her powers go? Were they powers, like his and Moreau’s and Donna’s and Alcina’s, or a clever trick of the mind?
Whatever the case, Miranda had spent the better part of a century trying to bring back a dead girl in the body of another, necromancy a far too advanced concept for her young mind back in the late twenties. She had spent countless hours, spilled gallons upon gallons of innocent blood, spread a disease that they no longer had control over in the lycans, all for naught. And suddenly some creepy girl at the ass-end of the woods was the second coming of Jesus? She had knocked him on his ass and somehow morphed into this giant mass of blood that would make the hairiest of grunts shit their pants. If there was any chance that she was for real, then it would change everything. The possibilities were endless. He just needed to tell apart the bullshit from the truth.

Chapter Forty
Hermione’s eyes widened at the feeling of the hand clamped over her face.
At first, she’s absolutely terrified that they’ve come for her and someone’s muffling the screams she no longer knows if she’s capable of.
For a second she thinks it could be Ron as he’s nearby and he’s silencing her to keep from giving them away to some evil outside the Burrow.
However as her eyes adjust to the darkness, under the moon shining through Ron’s attic window, she makes out a pair of two familiar eyes.
Ones she only saw in Malfoy Manor.
Soft, misty eyes. A pair she doubted she’d ever see again.
Slowly, she pulls her hand off Hermione’s mouth and presses a finger to her lips, indicating her to keep quiet.
With a swish of an unfamiliar wand Hermione recognizes the movements of a silencing charm.
Unknown to everyone but one Molly Weasley, is that a simple muffalito has no effect within the walls of Ron’s room. The matron was worried her son may succumb to the brunette's request of casting a silencing charm for the sake of everyone else after her screaming tonight. Even though it bothered no one in the house, Molly knew the girl well enough to know she thought of herself a burden. Not to mention, Mrs. Weasley is pretty sure Ron would do whatever she asked of him.
“Hello dear.” She whispered as a precaution.
“Ci-Cissy?” Hermione choked out, tears pooling in her eyes.
And before she could register the pain of such an action, she’s flinging her arms around the older woman’s slender frame and squeezes her tightly.
In turn, Narcissa finds herself crying quietly into the witch’s shoulder.
Once gathering her bearings a bit she breaks the silence. “I believe you have something that belongs to me.” Narcissa says with a chuckle.
Under her, she feels Hermione shake in what she thinks would be a laugh, had she not been in such a state.
“Well I have something that belongs to you as well, you see-”
“Let go of her now!”
Instantly, the pair's eyes snapped to the occupant of the voice.
Ron Weasley was towering over them, standing tall at a scary six foot four. His wand is drawn as deep raspy breaths escape him. Chest rising and falling at an intense rate. Hermione thinks she can see his knuckles whitening from the tight hold.
At his words, Narcissa pulled away from Hermione and held her hands in surrender as the young girl shook her head vigorously.
“Move away. Move.” He spat.
“Look, I’m not here to-“
“I don’t care! Move!” He screamed.
“R-Ron.” She cried.
When his blue eyes found her, he swore she was looking at him almost longingly. He couldn’t help but scrunch his brow in confusion.
“Please.” She mouthed.
“I won’t let her touch you love. I won’t.” He promised with such ferocity no one would dare challenge it.
“N-no!” She tried to exclaim.
This made his hold on his wand falter a bit as he grew puzzled.
It was Narcissa’s name she was groaning in her sleep. It was this woman, a Malfoy, who was causing her anguish. Probably the same haunting face that woke her in a fit of screams.
“I don’t understand.” He said to Hermione, feeling stupid for it after the fact, knowing there was a threat standing in between him and her. And now said threat would see him as some bumbling idiot.
Merlin he can’t fail again, he can’t.
“I’m not here to hurt any of you. Least of all Hermione, never Hermione.” Narcissa spoke up, standing from the bed, hands still raised.
“Shut up! Don’t say that, you hurt her! You’re a monster!” He doesn’t realize, but hot, wet tears are leaking out of his blue eyes.
“Hurt her? You think I’d hurt her? I’m the one who got her out of there, how do you think my wand-”
He let out a bitter laugh, “If you’re so helpful then why did it take four bloody months, eh?” He taunted.
Narcissa was growing angry, more at herself then this boy, because in a lot of ways, he was right. It had taken her too long to get Hermione out. So much had happened to her in those four months and her pain could be cut in half had she acted faster.
She stepped closer to speak, but in response, Ron lifted his wand to her nose.
“Don’t you dare!”
“Hermione, disarm him so we can have a civil conversation.” Cissy says calmly, though her voice shakes.
“No w-wand.” She squeaks.
“No wand?” Narcissa says, eyeing Ron, who now looks nervous. “Is it because-”
A sudden knock on the door brings everyone in the attic to a standstill.
“Ronnie?” Molly Weasley’s voice broke from behind the wood door.
Narcissa hurriedly tip-toed to the left of the door, looking to Ron’s conflicted eyes and bringing a finger to her lips. Next, his gaze found Hermione who seemed to be mouthing ‘please’ over and over, her eyes glossy under the moonlight.
“Ronald open up or I’m coming in.” She said from the other side.
Sparing one last glance at Hermione, he tucked his wand into his waistband and with a deep breath flung open the door and stepped into the hallway. Carefully he shut it behind him.
“Is everything okay dear? I thought I heard voices.”
He gulped, “Y-yeah.” He swallowed hoping to wet his dry throat, “Hermione she-uh, she had another nightmare.”
“Oh no.” Molly began to push past him until he jumped in front of the door knob.
“No!” He said a bit too harshly, “I just mean, I think she’s overwhelmed, you know? I think I can handle this Mum.” He said gently.
And surprisingly, his mother doesn’t disagree like he expected her to. Instead, a proud smile struck her lips as her eyes softened considerably.
“I’m so proud of you Ronnie.” She whispers, hands reaching out to cradle his face. “You’ve taken tremendous care of Hermione, you’re just so grown up I suppose. The way you are with her- I’m just beyond proud of you dear.” Molly says misty eyed.
“Thanks Mum.” He says with red cheeks.
Behind the door, Narcissa Malfoy is smiling.
Mrs. Weasley squeezes him tightly before pulling away and wiping at her eyes. “I’m downstairs if you need anything, okay? I love you Ronnie, Hermione too.” With that, she kisses his cheek and walks down the steps.
He waits until he hears the faint sound of his parents door clicking close before pulling out his wand again and entering his bedroom.
There he finds Narcissa standing in the middle of his orange room, her eyes looking like they're full of love with tears threatening to spill over. She looks like anything but a Malfoy, such a stark contrast from Bellatrix. Looking at her here he’s more reminded of Andromeda, a soft spoken soul full of love. All things he would never associate with the mother of the greatest git at Hogwarts and wife to a Death Eater.
“Now I understand what Hermione was trying to tell me.” She whispered with a ghost of a smile on her lips.
Momentarily his grip falters as he begins lowering his wand, but then he remembers. This is probably a part of her plan. Gain his trust then kick his legs out from under him while he’s weak and more importantly, go at Hermione while she’s weak.
Still, he does want to know what she means…
“Nevermind that! Tell me how you got here.” He demands.
...
“The Burrow?” Andromeda questioned, “that’s… no! I can’t Molly and Arthur- no Cissy, I’m sorry.” She began pacing as she shook her head frantically.
“Please Andi, I need to see Hermione.” She begged.
“Hermione? Hermione Granger?” She questioned, even more confused than she was before.
“That’s right.” Narcissa nods confidently.
“But why?”
The younger of the two sighs. She nervously begins to wring her hands together as she paces the expanse of the room.
Then something dawned on Andromeda, “Hold on, does Hermione Granger have your wand?”
The look on Cissy’s face says it all.
“Narcissa what in the bloody hell is Hermione Granger doing with your wand? The girl is off at Hogwarts and the wards there- they’re impossible to get through!” She rants.
“Is it safe for me to assume you haven’t been in touch with Nymphadora?”
“Dora? What’s she got to do with all of this?” Andromeda questioned, but the look on her sister's face told her that the answer was crucial to the story, so she carried on. “Her and Remus were supposed to spend New Year’s with Ted and I but she got sent off on an assignment. She said it was for the Auror’s and not The O-” She caught herself.
Narcissa huffed with a roll of her eyes, “I know about The Order Andi, I’m not daft! Just carry on.”
The brunette rolled her eyes in return. It was almost nice to bicker. It felt normal. It felt like it did so long ago.
“Right so she said she had a case down in Cornwall. Some investigation, we owled of course, but she didn’t come back until February. Ted and I traveled to Amsterdam for our anniversary which is in late February, we were there for a few weeks. Dora is meant to come to dinner here within the week.”
“Alright.” Cissy nodded, “Alright that makes sense.”
“Sense with what Cissy?” Andromeda asked impatiently.
“Christmas night Hermione Granger was kidnapped from the Weasley’s home.”
The other woman grew pale, horror striking her features.
“It was Bella. Bella took her back to my estate in Wiltshire.” Her voice dropped to a whisper, tone filled with nothing but shame.
“Kidnapped? She’s just a child, Narcissa! Merlin- how long?” Andi asked, pinching the end of her nose.
“Three, four months.” Andromeda had to strain her ears to even hear the response.
“Months? This went on for months and you knew!”
“I know okay? I tried- I swear, I tried to get her out.” Cissy promised with tears brimming her eyes.
The brunette took a deep breath, calming considerably. “At least tell me she’s not there anymore. Tell me the girl is okay.”
Narcissa wiped almost violently at her eyes and took a big sniff, “That’s why I’m here, I had nowhere else to go. They’re bound to figure it out eventually. Lucius is too caught up in himself to realize I was lying but Bella- if she doesn’t know yet, she will soon.”
“Know what?” Her brown eyes were swimming for answers.
“That I was the one who helped Hermione escape. That’s why she has my wand.”
Andromeda gasped. When Narcissa turned up at her door she was so overcome with a sense of familiarity and love she didn’t even spare a second to think what kind of trouble she may be in. Or the possibility that she was done with that life. With her awful husband and his awful beliefs.
Could it be?
“But why?” It’s all Andromeda could come up with.
As she peered at her sister's weathered features, she saw tears running out of her blue eyes.
“Because it was so wrong Andi.” Narcissa practically blubbered, succumbing to sobs.
And like they were little girls again, Andromeda knew all Cissy needed right now was a hug from her big sister.
She engulfed her slender frame and slowly began stroking her brunette-blonde hair. Telling her everything was alright and ensuring she did the right thing.
After a few moments, Narcissa gathered her bearings.
“You were right.” She choked, “I’ve known for years but part of me always held out some hope, Bella… she's gone.” Her voice cracked over the nickname.
Andromeda just frowned, she accepted the fact during the first war, but she knew that part of Narcissa always thought that maybe somehow, someway, they could all become the family they once were. That they could all be sisters again.
“She ordered them to do terrible- unspeakable things to a young girl.” Suddenly her features stiffened into that of anger, “And when she wasn’t laughing at those inhumane acts, she was firing curse after curse at Hermione. The cruciatus, she- she doesn’t even speak anymore.”
Tears began leaking again out of both womens eyes.
“I took care of her every night. I snuck her potions. I read to her. I fed her. I held her. I made sure her brain wouldn’t turn to mush. I even told Bella to stop.” She inhaled, “But none of it mattered. I took too long. They killed her parents! I should’ve got her out sooner, I’m just as bad as the rest of them, I’m-” Her words caught in her throat as she grew hysterical.
Andromeda gripped her shoulders, “Stop.” She said a little forcefully, but Narcissa just continued to cry. “Cissy look at me.” She demanded.
Thankfully, her sister stopped shaking momentarily to fulfill the request.
“You never have and will never be a monster, okay? You did what was right in the end and that’s all that matters. Hermione isn’t there anymore.”
Narcissa closed her eyes and began trembling under Andromeda’s hold.
“Hey.” She called, causing her to open her eyes again, “you’re my sister. You always have been and you always will be. If I thought you were anything like Bella I wouldn’t have let you in. I know your heart is good.”
Slowly, Cissy nodded, calming a bit at the sentiment.
“I love you.” Andi said.
“I love you too.” Narcissa responded, “You’re my family and it's just-” she swallowed, “I’m so happy to be here with you but Hermione she- she’ll never have that again.” Cissy hoped the statement conveyed what she met as if she said more, she would’ve probably broken down again.
“That’s why it’s so important I get you into The Burrow, huh?” Andromeda smiled.
Cissy smiled back.
Even after all this time, they still knew each other so well.
...
“Tell me.” Ron Weasley demanded of her.
Cissy shook her head. She was briefly lost in a daze remembering all the details of the past few days.
“My sister, Andromeda, has access to the wards. She comes to have tea with your Mother a few times a week.” She like it was simple.
Ron scrunched his brow, not connecting the dots.
“We apparated outside of the wards so no one would hear. Andi and I performed some old blood spell we found in one of our mothers old books. Did it when we were younger, it connects you for a finite amount of time only works if you’re blood related. She stepped through the wards and I held onto her, we had no issues. I reckon she’s still crouching behind that old tree in your orchard.” She explained.
“So your sister, she doesn’t well-uh-”
“Hate me?” Narcissa asked knowingly, “No.” She answered. “It’s always been different for us than it was with Bella.”
The mention of the name involuntarily made Hermione shutter as a whimper escaped her.
At the sound Ron turned to envelope her in a hug, just to find Narcissa already doing it. He was about to pull out his wand to do something, but to his surprise, Hermione was welcoming to the embrace, burrowing into her robes.
He notices Narcissa holding her closer and he opens his mouth to tell the woman to take it easy, but Hermione winces instead, making her jump away.
The young witch moves her hand to her ribs hoping to ease some pain.
“What did you do? Ron accuses, sitting down next to Hermione, gently rubbing her back. At the action the brunette tries to offer a small smile, but the keyword here is tries.
He wonders if he’ll ever see a proper smile from her again.
“I have a book for Hermione in my robes. The corner must’ve dug into her ribs. If they’re still sore you should consider casting a-”
“No!” Ron yelps, making her jump, “sorry love” He whispers after the fact.
“So I was right then?”
The ginger eyes the woman, unsure what she means.
“She can’t use magic.”
Before he can even react Hermione musters all of her strength to shrug his arm off of her.
“L-liar.” She said saldy.
Technically he didn’t lie because it never exactly came up, but he knew that wasn’t an adequate response or excuse. Ron from five months ago might’ve said that, but he’s done a lot of growing up in that time.
And the look of pain on her face breaks his heart, especially knowing he caused it. Especially after he swore to himself and to her all those nights in St. Mungo’s that he’d never hurt her again.
“I don't know how to tell you Mione. Please believe me, please. I just- I didn’t want to hurt you anymore then I have already, okay? It fucking kills me seeing you like this darling. Please, I’m so sorry. Don’t let me lose you again.” He pleaded, forgetting Narcissa was even in the room.
A tear fell down her cheek, he swiped it gently with his thumb and relaxed the slightest when she allowed him to do so.
“It’s not forever, I promise. You’re still a brilliant witch, it doesn’t make you any less magical, okay?”
He watched as her eyes slowly roved to her bandaged arm, thinking about the vile term underneath.
Mudblood.
Anger momentarily bubbled within him thinking of the scar, but he pushed it down. He tilted her chin to look into his eyes, “Don’t think about that, please. You’re the Brightest Witch of Our Age. Nothing will ever change that, believe me alright? It’s just for a little while, I’m so sorry I lied Mione. I just- I hate to see you upset. I was being selfish and-”
Hermione cut him off by placing a gentle hand over his mouth.
It was so much to take in, but Ron has been  so lovely. Her moment of hurt was overshined by all the tender moments they’ve shared lately. And right now her brain is working in overdrive.
Hatred for Bellatrix and all she’s taken from her. The thought of never performing a spell again. Would they kick her out of Hogwarts?
Then she remembers Narcissa is here, Ron too, and right now she needs to focus on this before she explodes. Maybe Cissy has answers. She prays she does.
When she moves her hand a ghost of a smile plays on Ron’s lips, thankful for the sign of forgiveness.
“L-later.” she mumbled.
He nodded in understanding, hand reaching for hers.
Cissy watches the scene feeling her heartbreak for Hermione but also swell at the evident love between them. Then she remembers what event sparked the conversation in the first place.
“I have something for you. Something you left behind.”
Ron opens his mouth to protest, she needs no reminders of Malfoy Manor. Ever.
“Trust me.” Cissy whispers.
From her black robes she pulls out a large book.
The words Hogwarts, A History are printed on the binding.
It looks a lot like the copy Bill and Charlie gave him. There’s even a tea stain on the- shite.
With watery eyes, Narcissa places it in front of the pair. “I don’t believe you ever got to properly read this, huh dear?” She asked with a watery smile.
Ron glances to gauge Hermione’s reaction. Her bottom lip is quivering and he sees a lone tear escape her brown sparkling eyes.
But for the first time in a long time, he knows those tears weren’t ones of pain.
As her shaking hand skims the leatherbound book she suddenly feels different.
She’s not thinking of Bellatrix or Greyback or her parents. She’s thinking about how she’s here with Ron and Cissy and she feels an overwhelming sense of love coming from them. From this book, what it means, who gave it to her and who brought it back to her.
When she opens to  the text, she spots the familiar scrawl in the front, running her fingers over the worn out ink and splotches from her salty tears.
Hermione,
I’m so sorry for everything that's happened. I’ve hurt you and for that I’ll never truly forgive myself. You know I’ve never been good with words, but I once told you I wouldn’t read this book for anything, but I did. For you. I hope you enjoy my rendition of Hogwarts, A History and I hope this can help show you how much you mean to me, how much I miss you, if only a little. I hope one day you can forgive me. Until then I’ll be waiting. Always.
Happy Christmas
Yours, Ron.
She spent the worst nights of her life bent over this book. It gave her hope to someday get back to Ron. To make things right.
But reading it this time was different.
Instead of longing to see Ron again she turns and he’s there.
His arms tighten around her and she swears she hears him sniffle and feels him press a light kiss to her hair.
And she knows that this is what healing feels like.
“Thank you.” Her voice is cracked, but it's the strongest she’s sounded in months.
Ron’s heart swells in his chest. He peers over at Narcissa Malfoy, who like him, is crying, and the two exchange soft smiles.
In that moment Ron decides: maybe Narcissa Malfoy isn’t so bad after all.
...
Hermione falls asleep on Ron’s chest, the book slanted in her lap. She’s calmer than she’s been in a while. No furrowed brows or pained groans. He keeps a gentle hand running through her hair, telling himself it’s keeping her sound asleep and it’s not just because her hair is so damn soft.
“I wish I could have gotten her to sleep like that in the Manor. I wish I would’ve done more.” Narcissa’s voice breaks from where she sits on Harry’s camp bed.
Ron just stares at her for a few moments before coming to a decision. One he’s reluctant about, but knows it's best for Hermione.
“You can stay here.”
The woman looks in shock.
“Hermione would be upset if you left without a proper goodbye and I reckon there’s a lot you need to tell me, but not now. The sun will be up within the hour and I’m knackered.” He tells her, eyes averted to his Chudley Cannons poster.
“I’m sure your parents wouldn’t be pleased with someone so closely involved with the Dark Lord under their roof.” She says quietly.
“You’re done with that though?” He snaps, hand moving for his wand.
“I am.” She assures with a nod, “I have been for a while.”
Ron relaxes and lets out a breath. “Alright then. I’ll explain it to Mum and Dad eventually, but now isn’t right.”
Cissy nods again, “I’ll send a patronus to Andromeda, she’s still waiting in the orchard.” She explains taking out her wand, her true wand.
A wispy swan glides elegantly from the tip of her wand and disappears as blueish white hues disappear out his window.
“I’m going to bed.” Is all he says before blowing the candle on his bedside out and throwing the covers over both him and Hermione.
He stays awake for a while though, worried Narcissa may try something. But eventually her breathing evens out and he’s too exhausted to stand guard any longer, so he succumbs to sleep knowing he’ll need his rest for all the answers to come tomorrow.
Ones that are sure to break his heart.
...
Green flames explode in the fireplace as a figure stumbles out.
They brush the ash off and step into the Burrow’s living room.
“Oh you’re early!” Molly exclaims as she comes near the fireplace, still in her slippers. “Hermione had a nasty nightmare so she’s up in the attic with Ron. It was a long night, so I reckon they’re still asleep. Go wake Ronnie at least, let Hermione rest.” She told them.
With a nod, the figure took the familiar trek to Ron’s bedroom, not even bothering to knock before entering.
Meant by the sight of Ron and Hermione curled around each other and an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and warmth flooded them. Heartbreak of knowing why they ended up that way, because of the nightmares, but warmth at seeing the look of content across their serene faces as they laid in one another's arms.
But then he saw something.
A third figure laid atop of the sheets of the camp bed tucked against the wall.
Pulling out their wand they steadily positioned it, ready to curse whoever the mysterious occupant may be.
But before they make it across the room, the figure bolts upright, seeming to have heard the heavy footsteps.
And for the first time, Narcissa Malfoy is face to face with the infamous Harry Potter.

UnOrdinary Chapter 203 Review
Tumblr media
- “She’s only killed about 6 people. Don’t worry” I’m joking, but the fact that Arlo sees Valerie as an easy to talk to person makes me happy for their relationship
Tumblr media
- HE CALLS HER AUNT VAL WTF!?!?
- That is literally the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen him do. Look at his posture too, so relaxed around her.
- So he has nicknames for two people, Pinkie for Remi and Val for his aunt. That’s really sweet. But only one of them’s a good person
Tumblr media
- STEP ON ME MAMASITA
- I don’t care if she killed Rei anymore, girl is fucking hot. This is a woman who could wear a trash bag and still look like she’s on the cover of Vogue.
Tumblr media
- WTF HE’S SMILING SO PURELY. I CANT BELIEVE MY EYES!
- Arlo being capable of genuine happiness has me shell shocked. He really does like his aunt. Oh god UrU WHY!?!? Take Sera’s mom, not her! Why can’t Arlo have good things in his life?
- Remember guys, we must protect this smile. Arlo Defense Force rise up
Tumblr media
- These boys are so fucking tall it makes Remi look like a child. This makes Arlo’s midget height during his first year even funnier. I wonder if he had a major complex about it? Rei would definitely tease him about it
Tumblr media
- Um...I’m gonna save this for future use. Y’all don’t need to know what type of use.
Tumblr media
- Not gonna lie, this was not what I expected her to say. I thought Valerie was gonna be the kind, upbeat, supportive aunt but I guess she’s a lot more serious then I thought. I guess we know now why Arlo has his disposition. He gets it from his aunt. The two seem to be the type of people who are stone faced and hard towards most people, but go soft for those they care for.
Tumblr media
- OH FUCK REMI KNOWS
- UrU was being so unsubtle that Remi picked up on the narrative clues in story. Valerie being Volcan is gonna fuck up so much shit. Especially since we just saw that Arlo likes her a lot.
Tumblr media
- Valerie knows she knows. I like the fact that Valerie can keep such a straight face even though she’s facing someone she almost killed (who’s also a friend of her nephew). I wonder how much training she’s had, to be able to kill so efficiently and give no tells that she’s lying.
Tumblr media
- Can we talk about how sweet it is that Arlo immediately went to defend Rei in his own way. I swear if I see another person talking about how Arlo doesn’t care about Rei I’m gonna sic Volcan on em.
Tumblr media
- Oh god, oh no. This is what I was afraid of. Valerie seems so nice to Arlo but the moment he defended Rei, her mood changed. She probably thinks Remi and co are going to taint her boy and might speed up the exterminate process. I swear if we get a line like “I’m doing this to save you!” from Valerie I’m gonna cry. Also UrU, I beg of you, can Valerie actually be really caring? It’s just something I desire.
- She’s kinda acting like a conservative parent who sent their child off to college and learned they hang out with someone who smokes weed.
Tumblr media
- Yuppers, you’re facing your brother’s killer with no mask. And to make it worse, she’s related to Arlo. Hope you have fun with that shitshow Remi.
Tumblr media
- Man, forget Rei for a moment. You’re not gonna talk about the fact that she’s related to Arlo?! Like, your friend’s related to a murderer. This is gonna be some rough shit when it’s revealed, and I’ll hope you’ll be there for him when it happens.
Tumblr media
- Arlo immediately sensed there was something more wrong with Remi. Considering he was able to pick out that John was a high tier with a few limited interactions, his intuition is really great. That makes Valerie’s bold face lying even more impressive to me. He doesn’t question her once cause she gives no signs that something is wrong.
Tumblr media
- “Being a vigilante is dangerous. I should know, I’ve killed like eight of them.”  -Though she’s right that it’s very dangerous. Blyke almost lost his life last time, and many others have died. There has to be an established way to protect vigilantes, and working with the cops would be a better way to protect them (if they weren’t the ones killing them)
Tumblr media
- Again, she’s right. Even if they solve one issue, another will just pop up in it’s place. Just fighting the bad guys won’t help, this isn’t some novel, there’s work to be done. Luckily the Safe House is a good step towards this, but we’ll need it on a larger scale otherwise the low tiers will stay oppressed.
Tumblr media
- Arlo’s very protective of his aunt and that scares me. He’s definitely not gonna believe it if Remi or someone else tries to tell him that his aunt is a murderer. He thinks so highly of her and her position; he thinks she’s truly trying to help and that what makes the inevitable reveal sad. He’ll be crushed and I’d expect him to be out of commission (either not going to school or kidnapped for a while) due to his depression.
Tumblr media
- Arlo protecting his aunt caused him to insult his friends. I see this more as him idolizing his aunt so much than him not caring for Remi and Rei.
- This is something a bit new from Arlo. This isn’t a simple “I respect her” this is something more. I swear if my theory about her being the mother figure in his life is real I’m changing professions to oracle.
Tumblr media
- And Valerie and Volcan have two different abilities. Now I’m guessing, Ember’s found a way to be able to transfer abilities between people. Looking at the Ember report we got a while back, it said that they were going to acquire Arlo and Sera’s ability so maybe they take their victims abilities and give it to their workers. I’d like to see what type of barrier ability she has though since Arlo says it’s a variation.
Valerie is so cool and boss and scary that I want to run and hug her at the same time. Arlo is being soft and precious for the first time and I cried. Remi found her brother’s killer, it’s time to pull an Inigo Montoya

Race has never been popular. Ever since he was little he’s been made fun of for countless things such as taking gymnastics as a kid, being a math wiz (a nerd, as most like to call him), being gay, and being Manhattan’s resident “Monster Boy”. See. When Race was young, he’d had a horrid series of nightmares, actually plaguing him with insomnia from a young age.
His parents had been gone. He’d only been five at the time. And there had been monsters in his closet. To this day he can still remember how real it all felt. How the earth shook beneath him and a green glowed from his closet. He remembers a hand covered in rings pushing open the door, he remembers glowing green eyes and yellow teeth. He remembers someone singing to him.
He’d made the mistake of falling asleep in class the next day, reliving the memory before he’d woken up crying about monsters trying to take him away.
Ever since then, he’d been known to the masses as “Monster Boy”. It wasn’t a very clever name, but it stuck.
After this, Race takes to hating sleep. He never wants to close his eyes, much less take a nap. But he manages and it doesn’t hurt that he’s wickedly smart and very physically fit. He can go for a long time without sleep and gets very good and functioning without a lot of it.
High school is something Race would rather skip completely, but as he’s stuck there, he lets himself develop a hopeless crush on the boy that’s just about got every girl wrapped right around his finger.
Spot Conlon. The hottest boy in school.
Though his best friend JoJo never fails to encourage him to try and talk to the older boy, Race always chickens out. However, a Halloween party set in place nearly gets Race to change his mind, as he figures Halloween is the most cliché day of the year to be at one’s most confident. Race never minded cliches. So he figured why not. He sets a plan into place to get the nerve up to dance with Spot Conlon but these plans get crushed when his mother hesitantly tells him that she’s volunteered him to babysit on Halloween night.
Angered and irritated by this, Race tries to call on his dad for help but is left on his own to argue. Ultimately he loses, as the person his mother promised him to for the night is her ice queen of a boss who could fire her easily if she had to back down.
So Race babysits that night.
Upon his arrival, he’s given a list of tasks that need to be done for little Romeo, a boy who’s not allowed sugar, more than thirty minutes of screen time, or any kind of scary stories. Race can hardly get a word in as the woman takes him to the little boy who’s hiding away in his room, looking terrified of his own toys. But Race introduces himself to the poor kid before seeing the boy’s mother off and calling JoJo, having absolutely no idea what to do because the little kid he’s supposed to be babysitting won’t come out of his room.
JoJo is happily showing Race all that he’s missing at the party. This is when Race hears someone rummaging around in the cupboard. He runs over to find Romeo stuffing his face with so much chocolate he can’t get a word out. When Race tells him to stop and spit out whatever he has in his mouth for the sake of getting him to bed on time, Romeo grabs all he can carry and bolts, trying to reach his room before Race manages to chase him down and push his way into his room.
Forcing his way inside, Race finds that the only reason Romeo stole the candy was because he wanted a sugar rush to keep him awake. Curling up on his bed in fear, Romeo shows Race drawings of the monsters that were coming to get him at night, every time he tried to sleep.
Understanding Romeo’s fears, Race gently talks him through it, explaining that he’d gone through the very same thing when he was Romeo’s age. The five year old trusts Race, now fifteen, practically an adult to him, when he tells him that none of these monsters are real, something Romeo’s mother has been telling him for weeks. Though Romeo does believe him, the fear doesn’t truly melt away. So Race, who hasn’t slept in about ten years, pulls out a few gadgets of his own invention. Little nightlights that he makes when he gets bored at night, not sleeping. He gives Romeo one to comfort him as Romeo promises to try and go to sleep and Race leaves him alone, believing this to be an easy night babysitting.
Romeo does his best to relax after Race leaves, but mere minutes later, his room starts shaking. There’s a green glow coming from his closet. Ringed hands push his closet door open and a song begins to fill the room, a lullaby. Romeo tries to hide, fearing he was in the middle of another nightmare but rolling over to find himself staring into glowing green eyes.
Before he can scream, the man hovering above him snaps his fingers, forcing the boy’s lips together. Still, Romeo tries to call out for Race. The odd man then throws a bag over the boy and lets three little goblin-like creatures take him underground.
Hearing a commotion coming from Romeo’s bedroom, Race rushes back in to find what he believes to be Romeo cowering under his blankets. When he pulls the thing back, he finds a horrible little yellow monster that was waiting to pounce. Nearly taking a bite out of him, the thing manages to trash the room around Race before disappearing underground with Romeo and the two other monsters that are just like it.
Race tries to jump down after them, but the hole closes up below him and Race is left nearly hyperventilating on the floor.
The second Race can collect himself, he grabs his phone and gets out of that house, calling the police, at a complete loss for what to do. As it is Halloween night, he is not taken seriously and is almost immediately hung up on. But as he’s trying to run for help, a motorcycle screeches to a halt right in front of him, nearly giving Race a heart attack.
The young man that stops in front of him is basically the definition of dark and mysterious, with a leather jacket wrapped around him, a red bandana wrapped around his head, fingerless gloves on his hands and muddy, scuffed up boots on his feet. The only thing that strikes Race as odd is the baby strapped to the older boy’s chest.
Confused at this guy’s sudden presence, Race lets him inspect the surrounding area as the guys start asking questions about what “they” looked like and how many there were. Hardly even thinking, Race answers him before realizing this guy shouldn’t know what happened and asking who the heck he was. The man informs him that he’s a babysitter, Jack Kelly, and that he got a “Nightmare Ping” from this location.
Race hastily explains to Jack that the kid he was supposed to be babysitting was kidnapped by some creatures and he had no idea what they were. Jack, who is proving to be very stand-off-ish and blunt, scoffs at Race’s attempts to be in charge of a human being and goes to investigate, Race hot on his tails the whole time, much to the young man’s annoyance.
With Race’s descriptions of what happened and a hidden message on the wall that makes Jack go slightly pale, the older boy manages to decipher that some toadies took Romeo and that the kid is not underground.
Whilst all of this is happening, Race manages to curiously ask Jack who’s baby he was carrying, insisting that he wouldn’t judge if it was his own. But Jack just tells the baby, Smalls, to say hi. He explains that he’s the little girl’s babysitter and that he was doing what babysitters did, taking care of their kids.
When he’s done searching the room, he asks Race what direction the toadies went, commenting that he was like a human calculator when the boy gives him an exact direction in degrees. He then tells Race to stay put, act cool and play the quiet game before leaving the room and shutting the door on his way out.
It only takes seconds for Race to get spooked and run after Jack, demanding that he take him with.
Jack nearly leaves him, claiming that if Race came with he’d end up cursed, hypnotized, eaten alive or worse, but after Race makes a crucial observation in the yard, Jack realizes he might be useful and tells him to get on the bike. So Race does.
They manage to track the toadie to a playground. Jack mostly ignores Race but, after all the questions the young blond is asking him, he gives him a small tablet with one single book inside it. “A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting.” He explains that babysitting is more than just turning on a movie and waiting for the kid to go to sleep, that the monsters they have nightmares about as children are real and that babysitter’s are trained to keep those monsters from stealing away their charges in the middle of the night.
Hardly believing this was all real, Race watches Jack snuff out a trap hole made by the toadies at the bottom of a slide. He sets out a trap, placing Smalls down beside the hole and sprinkling baby powder around her. Race realizes that he’s using the baby as bait and gets antsy, even though Jack assured him he’s got it all under control. At the last minute, Race chickens out, rushing to get to the baby right as a monster surfaces from underground. Though Jack tries to stop him, he knows he’s too late so he rushed to fight the monster head on, barely managing to save Small’s who he promised he won’t let anything happen to.
Whilst Jack begins to wrestle with the Toadie, demanding that Romeo be returned to him, Race gets a phone call. It’s Romeo’s mother.
He barely manages to keep the woman’s suspicion down with Jack making a lot of noise all around him but after promising that he’d gotten Romeo to go to sleep, she admits she’s impressed and hangs up, leaving Race to panic even more.
Eventually, Jack manages to catch the monster, putting it in a bag. Race asks what he’s planning on doing and Jack doesn’t answer. He just takes the thing, straps it to his bike and tells Race to get on or go home.
Race gets on.
They end up at Roosevelt College. While they’re walking through, dragging a bag behind them, Race realizes that Jack is nodding and waving to these people like he knows them. Jack reveals to him that he’s a college junior after sarcastically commenting to an attractive girl who inquired about the bag that he had his professor in there.
Understanding absolutely nothing about this boy, Race watches Jack throw the toadie in the trash before using a keycard to get into what looks to be a dark abandoned room. Upon walking inside, Race finds a secret hideout, complete with a lab and a library.
Jack is not the only babysitter in Manhattan.
Race meets Davey, a know-it-all college sophomore who’s studying to become a forensic scientist, Katherine, a very cool, tech-savvy senior who is studying to become a novelist (she runs her own anonymous blog. It’s mostly political. She has a lot of followers), and Albert, a freshman who is studying to become an engineer. He makes their weapons and defenses.
Davey is the only one who wants Race out, but the rest of the team welcome him immediately, promising to find Romeo and get him home safe before midnight. Kat immediately puts a trace on Romeo’s mother’s phone and Albert gets to work on making a memory potion so they can recall every detail of the night while Davey empties the Toadie’s pouch as the thing had fallen through the trash right into their lab.
After dosing Race with some of the memory potion, of which they’d never tested before, Race begins to sing a song, one he’d heard as a little boy, the same one that Jack recognized from his own childhood. Jack goes pale at the lullaby. He shakes his head, not believing what he was hearing and saying that this couldn’t be happening, beginning to pace a bit as Kat and Al both refuse to tell Race what’s going on.
Jack gets ahold of himself and explains that the man that took Romeo is one of the seven worst nightmares in the nightmare realm. He tells him that the only way to defeat the Grand Guignol is to monster-punch angel blood into his heart.
Race insists that he’s not leaving until Romeo is rescued and Jack rolls his eyes, telling Albert to get them some weapons ready. So Albert does, showing Race many different types of emergency weapons including one magic stick that was found in a tomb in Egypt that is rumored to be able to break any hex or curse.
After gearing up, Jack tells Race that if he insists on coming then he can feed the Toadie. Before he can argue, a back of trash is thrown into his arms and the monster is unleashed on him. That’s when Jack reveals he planted a tracker in the trash and that tracker was now in the Toadie’s stomach.
They go to follow him, unaware that the monster had found the tracker and had alerted the Grand Guignol, who had been trying for over an hour now to get Romeo to sleep. The nightmare instructs the monster to lead them down the street to an “old friend”. So the Toadie does without question.
Following the monster, Jack and Race find themselves at a large house that’s partying Halloween style. But it’s not just any party, no. It’s the same one that all of Race’s classmates are at.
It’s the same party that Spot Conlon is at.
Jack goes to get inside, but Race freezes seeing Spot and the girl that everyone assumed Spot was going to start dating, Rafaela. He reveals that he can’t go in there and Jack asks him if he’s really more scared of two teenagers than he was of actual monsters. Race admits a bit shakily that he definitely is and Jack softens, looking at both of the kids. He tells Race that Rafaela looks like any basic girl, dressed as a sexy cat on Halloween, and that, sure, Spot was good looking enough but, why did that have to be so intimidating?
Race nods and finally allows himself to follow Jack inside.
Inside, everyone begins to call Race “Monster Boy” to which Jack says he likes. It’s a pretty cool nickname to have, even if Race already had another one.
While exploring the house and trying to find the Toadie, Race and Jack get separated and Race, quite literally, runs into Spot Conlon who spills his drink on him. Spot tries to apologize, but Race insists it’s alright before Jack pulls him away, leading him down to the basement.
That’s where they find the Toadie who is planning to feed them to a shadow monster hiding in the closet. The Toadie attacks them, leaving them with one shard of glass before shoving them towards the other monster.
Jack remembers that the thing is deathly afraid of light and says that as long as they stay where it’s bright they should be okay. That is, till the Toadie cuts the power.
The party keeps raging above them and Jack rushes to go find a flashlight but Race pulls out his own homemade nightlights to keep the thing back. That’s when Spot finds him, trying again to apologize and asking Racer if they can talk.
Race does his best to look natural while keeping the thing back and leading Spot away, but the monster only follows them. Race turns Spot away from him, eventually shoving the other boy into a room and shutting him in. Spot is confused but goes along with it as Race tries to figure out what to do, eventually using both his gymnastics skills and his math skills to figure out how to stop the thing. He whistles at the crowd and then groans before flipping over the banister and landing on his side on the couch as flashing lights catch the shadow monster that’s trying to eat him.
The thing disappears.
Jack is almost impressed. He would be if that wasn’t such a dumb thing to do. But the second he hears Rafaela scoff and make a dumb comment, he dares her to do it again, making it very clear that Race was a friend of his. And Race’s heart swells at that.
Race’s parents call him, telling him that they just saw a video of him diving off of a banister on Instagram. Katherine diverts the trace that his father put on him and the two go on their way.
The two leave them party, realizing they’d been played before Katherine calls them to explain that there’s an amulet that might be able to put the Grand Guignol to sleep so they can get to Romeo once they figure out where he is.
But they tell Jack that it’s in the possession of Hannah Drood, the crazy cat lady. A witch.
Against Jack’s better judgement, he takes Racer there, telling him that this was the only way they’d be able to save Charlie.
That’s when Race pauses. He asks who Charlie is and Jack knows he slipped up. He tries to keep going, telling Race to forget about it, but Race gets in his way. So he caves.
Charlie is Jack’s little brother. He would be Race’s age by now. When they were little, monsters came into their rooms to take them away. Jack was eleven. Charlie was five. The Grand Guignol sang them a song and Jack fell under his spell, passing out at the nightmare stole his brother away.
He hadn’t seen his brother since. He’d been looking for him his whole life and there was no end in sight. That’s why he did what he did. That’s why he looked out for innocent children.
That’s not what Race expected. But he tells Jack that he’s sorry, that he’d help him keep looking if Jack wanted him too. Jack appreciates that.
They continue on into the witches lair. Jack begins to cough and wheeze, revealing to Race that he’s severely allergic to cats, of which this lady has many. Race begins to get nervous as Jack is looking more and more scared and helpless by the second but Jack gives him a weapon and tells him to douse the witch once they get inside and steal the amulet without looking at it.
Upon arriving in the grand room, Jack falls to the ground, hardly able to breathe. He tells Race to go, but before Race can get close enough to even try, the Grand Guignol appears beside the witch, asking her for her amulet before seeing the two boys in the room. He taunts and teases them, intrigued when he finds the great Jack Kelly wheezing and gasping for air on the ground. He asks the witch if he can keep him, telling her she could have the other one all to herself. She agrees. Race tries to stop him, but the nightmare simply walks over to Jack and throws him over his shoulder, carrying him away. Race tries to go after him but isn’t fast enough.
Then the witch reveals her cats who had been hidden in the couch and the walls. She tells them it’s time to feast. So Race runs.
He didn’t get his nickname for nothing.
He manages to outrun the cats and hops on the motorcycle that Jack yelled at him never to touch and drives away, terrified and confused and unsure of what to do next. But he calls Katherine and tells her what happened, sending her a picture of the glass he’d gotten off of the Toadie earlier.
Katherine tells him that the glass came from an old abandoned lighthouse and that it must be where The Grand Guignol was keeping Romeo, and now Jack. Race hangs up before she can warn him not to go.
Meanwhile, Jack wakes up disoriented and confused. His throat is sore and his legs are weak and he’s in a cage in the middle of a dark room. His phone’s gone and he panics for a second before remembering that Small’s was safe back at Headquarters. All he can do is pull his legs to his chest and just wait.
That is, until a voice starts calling his name.
Charlie’s calling out for him, begging him for help. He’s crying and whimpering but Jack can’t see him. He starts to scream out for him before glowing green eyes appear in front of him, startling him enough to get him to scramble backwards. Jack demands the return of Charlie and Romeo, but it sounds more like desperate screams. The Grand Guignol just pulls Jack towards him, taking the boy’s chin in his hand as he begins to sing a song. A lullaby. Jack can’t help but let tears rush to his eyes as he begins to fall under the spell again, unable to fight it even as he tries to cover his ears.
It only takes a moment for the nightmare to gain complete control over him.
As Race arrives at the lighthouse, he calls Katherine back, explaining to her that he had tied his sweater to the fence just in case he were to get lost. With that, he goes in.
He manages to find Romeo, but The Grand Guignol is still with the little boy after just having lured him to sleep, catching him immediately and sending the Toadies out after Race who capture him in a bag and try to throw him down into the water surrounding the lighthouse. Race manages to get free just before they do, managing to trick them into letting him use Albert’s contraptions on them. Then he runs.
Of course, back at headquarters, things begin to go wrong as the power goes out and a very angry shadow monster is on the loose. David and Albert help Katherine out along with the ball of angel’s blood that Albert had prepared, telling her to go find Race and Jack before it’s too late and that they’d handle it.
That does not go well either.
Race manages to nearly get back to Romeo only to be stopped by Jack who is looking even more distant and withdrawn than usual. Jack claims to know exactly where Romeo is and offers to take him. Reluctantly, Race follows, unsure of what’s gotten into his friend.
Jack leads him to an empty cage and tries to shove him inside as Race realizes that Jack must be under some kind of spell. Race manages to begin and fight, seeing first hand how strong and trained Jack is as the young man easily gets the better of him, throwing him in the cage and locking it, beginning to walk away before Race taps him with the special stick that Albert had given him.
Jack collapses to the floor.
Race calls for Jack, nearly worried he killed him before he bangs on the metal and startles Jack awake. Jack looks around, asking what happened as Race asks how he knows it’s really Jack in which Jack replies that he’d kick Race’s ass if he ever did that again.
Jack let’s Race out and they work together to go find Romeo, at a loss for what to do until they realize that The Grand Guignol still believes Jack is under his control. Jack lures The Grand Guignol out into the open and Race prepares to launch a sneak attack on the nightmare to take him down.
But the nightmare anticipates this and catches Race by the throat when Race tries to jump at him. Jack panics at seeing Race like that, the boy who reminded him somewhat of his own little brother, unable to breathe or fight back, so he tries to help, revealing he’s no longer under the spell and manages to get the Grand Guignol off of Race only to be thrown backwards. The wind is knocked out of him but he tries to make a deal. He’d trade places with Race and Romeo. The Grand Guignol could have him if he just let the other boys go.
The nightmare thinks this over for a moment before stating that he’d rather just take all three of them.
Katherine shows up just before The Grand “Weasel,” as Race spits at him, can lock them up again. She has the angel’s blood, Weasel’s one weakness, and tries to throw it to Race but it is caught by the nightmare himself. Katherine rushes over to a still breathless Jack, helping him breathe as Weasel just laughs at them all.
But, managing to distract Weasel, Race takes the angel's blood with the nightmare’s own hand and plunges the thing into his heart, killing him.
The three rush to Romeo as soon as Jack can take a deep breath again and wake the terrified boy up. Romeo explains that The Grand Guignol had been planning on bringing the nightmare realm to the real world by using Romeo’s nightmares and bringing them to life. Race scoops Romeo up as Jack says the nightmares are still alive and that Romeo’s the only one who can stop them.
It shocks Race a little how good Jack is with kids.
They take Romeo to his brewed nightmares. Race encourages him to tell them that he’s not scared of them anymore. Jack pats him on the shoulder and tells him that he’s stronger than them, that he created them so they were no match for him. So Romeo walks into the room and tells all of the nightmares that he’s not scared of them anymore, causing them to all disappear like they’d never even been there.
The boy then nearly passes out and Jack carries him out, taking the kids back to Romeo’s house just before Romeo’s mother arrives. By then, Romeo is already passed out in bed, his room cleaned up and perfect.
Jack takes Race home, lending him his tablet and telling him to study up because he thinks he can swing getting Mama Medda (the President of their chapter) to let a kid in as long as they have Race’s skills.
Upon arriving back at home, Race gets a phone call from Spot Conlon who asks him out on a date.
And everything is going just swimmingly.
At least, for now.
This was a fun one. Happy Halloween, ya’ll!

Screams Of The Quiet
Tw:death (childbed fever guys), reference to the Thomas and Elizabeth thing, reference to beheading
Catherine Parr went out of the world screaming.
She screamed in pain, agony. She screamed as she fought through pushing her child into the world. She screamed in defiance to the universe as she felt herself slipping away. She made the world hear her, ‘I am not leaving my child! Not with him, not in this world.’. Her screams haunted the people in the room for the rest of their lives, one of the loudest, most haunting noises ever heard.
‘I am not done yet. There is so much left for me here.’ The screams of a queen, of one of the strongest women you could know. In endless pain, all she could think about was her Mary and how much left she has to do. Screw Thomas, screw her title as dowager queen of England and Ireland. Screw life, for being so unfair. She needs to make amends with the Tudor children. She needs to help shape the new era of their country; someone has to, someone that actually cares about those kids.
She needs to raise her daughter.
Catherine has so many ideas for her daughter, so many things she wants to teach her. She needs to protect her, now knowing what an awful man her father really is. She can’t leave her here with him. She thinks of her mother, Maud Green, who raised her as a single woman and taught many children. The woman who taught the great Catherine Parr to survive. She learned so much from her mother. So much she wants to pass on to Mae, and yet she feels herself barely holding on, getting louder with each scream in a desperate attempt at staying alive though pure force of will.
She’s gotten so much quieter the older she gets, it's a shock to hear her like this as she goes. Growing up she was loud, if the world wanted to drown her out she’d scream over the masses to be heard. She kept that up well into her adult years. Then she got kidnapped for being too outspoken in her beliefs, along with her stepchildren. She was more careful after that. And then, with Henry, she worked so hard to keep him happy with her. But her outspoken and argumentative nature got the best of her again. She was almost killed, and kept her opinions close to her heart after that.
Marrying Thomas had been like being set free, until it wasn’t. She was fooled into it, fooled into thinking he was a good and loving man. He got angry with her too. Never threatening to kill her, but angry enough to scare her. Angry enough to scare Elizabeth too, he hurt that girl. Catherine will never forgive herself for being too afraid to do something, to say something. When did she become too afraid to speak? Perhaps that's why she loves writing so much, the ability to not speak and upset someone close enough to hurt her. A cowards hobby, but protection from her husband nonetheless.
She’s been quieter, still outspoken, but more careful. And now, with the ferocity she’s been suppressing, she screams and yells every thought that comes to her mind. ‘I am not done. There is so much left. I hate you.’ That last one is directed at Thomas, who looks all too shocked to hear it as he holds her hand. She’s squeezing it too hard for him to let go though, from pain or fear or out of anger neither will ever know. ‘I need to see my baby. I need to see her.’ This is his fault. He’d gotten her pregnant, after trying for one in four different marriages this is the man that gave her a baby. She has no ill will against the child, no, never that. But she’s dying and it’s not Mae’s fault, it’s Thomas’s.
With one last scream, the loudest yet, she gives birth to a baby girl. They attempt to give her to Thomas and she growls that they’d better not. They hand her the baby instead. Her baby. She died for this, or is dying, she knows, she wants to hold her.
Mae is a beautiful mess. She’s fairly heavy for a newborn, and looks a lot like Catherine herself. Like Catherine, she’s also covered in her mother's blood, and she’s screaming too. The similarity is jarring, because one has just been given life, and the other is about to pass away.
She feels herself slipping away, as her eyes close she hears Mae and Thomas crying for her. The last thing she feels is someone taking her baby from her hold. The last thing she thinks and says is ‘I love you.’ She cannot tell if it was meant for just her daughter or for them both. No time to dwell on it as she drifts away, though. Finally, finally silent.
2
When Catherine wakes up, she’s alone. Taking a moment to get her bearings, she realizes a few things. One, there is no more agonizing pain. Two, this room looks to be a bedroom, but she doesn’t recognize quite the items scattered around it. And three, there’s no sounds of a child anywhere near her.
She must be in heaven. She certainly died, and this place is strange enough to make her look around in wonder. She stands to walk to the door, maybe she can find an angel to explain. Maybe she can watch over Mae and the other children from here. As she walks towards the door though, a blinding pain shoots through her head.
Ah, so the pain is not over then.
When she emerges from the sensation she notices she’s fallen onto the floor. And that she has some new knowledge of where she is. She is in the future, not in heaven. She’s been reincarnated, and the world has vastly changed. There are still some missing bits, she hopes she has the opportunity to learn them herself if knowledge is given through painful means in this century. She sits up from her spot on the floor with a quiet grunt. The pain has completely subsided now, hopefully it stays gone.
Her door opens and she fights the urge to scream in fright. She looks at the person who walked in. Truthfully they look a bit frantic themselves, so Catherine doubts that they’ll be of any real help.
“You must be Cathy Parr then! We’ve been waiting for days!”
Catherine just looks at this woman. She can’t bring herself to speak. She’s always known just what to say in dangerous situations, but then she’d known who she was dealing with. Speaking up now when she has no idea who’s listening is risky. She doesn't trust herself to say the right thing. She doesn’t trust the woman who seems to know who she is.
The silence seems to be off putting to her visitor, who attempts to fill it.
“Right, so I know this is probably kind of scary. You’ve been reincarnated, new body and everything-“
New body? She immediately looks down to her hands, noticing that they are completely different now. How is it that she has the same consciousness and not the same body? Who’s body is this? Where did it come from?
“-My name is Katherine Howard, the others call me Kitty because there’s too many Catherine’s. You make the third, we’ve been calling you Cathy. I hope you’re okay with that.”
Catherine eyes her warily, still sitting on the floor. Katherine Howard. She knew her. She glances down at ‘Kitty’s’ neck, noting the scarf. She wonders what’s under there.
Noticing that the girl is looking at her clearly wanting an answer, Catherine nods. She has more pressing matters to worry over than a nickname. Why she’s alive being one of them. Why Katherine Howard, who she saw beheaded with her own eye, is alive being another.
“Good! I was the last one to wake up. It seems to have gone in order of marriage. You’re the last one, and your room is right next to mine. The others don’t know you’re here yet, I heard you fall and wanted to check first.”
It seems to have gone in order of marriage. She mulls over the word in her mind. This means that the ‘others’ mentioned must be all of Henry’s wives, given Katherine Howard was right before her.
“Would you like to meet the others?”
She wonders what would happen if she said no. Would Kitty be prepared for that answer? Would she just leave her here or would she try to convince her otherwise? She’s tempted to say no just to see what would happen, she might have if she didn’t think her guilt over messing with the girl would be overwhelming. She nods in response.
“Okay, do you need help getting up?”
Oh, right. She’s still on the floor. With a shake of her head she stands, gesturing to her now upright body with a small smile. Kitty laughs a bit at the gesture and tilts her head in the direction of the hall behind her.
“Let's go then!” She seems cheerful. Not at all like someone who had her head chopped off.
As they make their way down the hall Catherine trails a bit behind, observing every little thing. She gets a glimpse into the room next to hers, which she knows is Kitty’s. A lot of pink. She’d hazard a guess and say Kitty’s favorite color is pink. The hall walls are kind of plain, a nice light grey throughout. There are seven doors, all the same brown color except for one, which is a lighter brown than the others. She taps Kitty on the shoulder and gestures to the door, looking at it questioningly.
“Oh, that’s the bathroom.” Kitty goes and opens the door, showing her the strange room. As soon as Catherine lays eyes on the strange objects inside, she feels a white-hot pain. Kitty catches her on the way down, and when she finally comes back to her mind, she knows what that room is for. She groans in frustration from the fact that this pain seems to come with knowledge.
“Yeah, that happens whenever we find something new. It’s honestly kind of annoying. I’ve only been here for a few weeks, so it happens from time to time.”
That sounds like a promise that this pain will pop up again, and though it comes with information, it is not welcome. They go down a flight of stairs, and into a room her mind calls the living room. Odd, though fitting. There are several sofas and chairs in the room. It seems to be an area for comfort. There is a fireplace and several tables, and a few lamps, which are fascinating.
“Holy shit!”
Oh, and people. This room is filled with people, too.
“Anne, mind your tongue, will you?” Another woman scolds from her chair.
‘Anne’ opens her mouth to retort, but Kitty intervenes.
“Now is not the time! Everyone, this is Cathy. Cathy, everyone.”
They all stare at her expectantly, although she’s not sure what they could possibly be expecting from her. Looking around the room, all she can manage is a wave.
“She doesn’t talk much. But that’s okay, I think I explained things pretty well.”
Yes, and also no. The only reason Catherine has any idea what’s happening is from her newfound pain-knowledge and picking up on things Kitty has said and inferring what they mean. But she looks quite excited to have been the one to greet her, so Catherine nods at her with a warm smile, getting the girl to beam.
“Alright, I’m Anne von Cleve, you knew me before. I go by Anna now since there is another Anne. Makes things easier.”
Anna, right. Catherine did know her. They were certainly not friends, but it’s nice to see a familiar face. They’ll deal with any past tensions later.
“I’m the other Anne. Anne Boleyn.” The woman who said ‘holy shit’ when Catherine arrived jumps into the conversation not even a moment later. She knows Anne Boleyn, knew her child. She’s unable to fully look Anne in the eye.
“I’m Jane Seymour, are you feeling alright?”
Jane died the same way Catherine did. She knows the pain that her death brought. And she brought about Edward, the sweetest little boy she’d ever met. Though she’s unsure why Jane might be enquiring into her wellbeing while hardly even knowing her, so she just nods again.
“Good, coming back from the dead is a bit jarring.”
She nods rapidly at that. It is jarring. One moment she was dying a slow and agonizing death, then she died. And then the next she wakes up, just, not dead anymore. The shock of dying hasn’t worn off yet. When it does Catherine hopes to God she’s alone to deal with it.
“Catherine of Aragon.” The woman in the armchair introduces herself.
Catherine of Aragon. She’s Catherine’s godmother, her namesake.
“You may call me Catalina. I’m glad you made it to us okay.” The kindness and surety in the words makes everything she’s heard of the woman ring true. Catherine of Aragon, the true queen. Catherine had tried to emulate her in her reign.
“Are you hungry?” Kitty asks. And Catherine realizes that yes, she is quite hungry. Her stomach makes a noise in place of her mouth, causing everyone to laugh.
“It’s nearly dinner anyway. Reincarnation makes a person hungry.” Anna says that last bit as a joke. But it seems to be true, she wasn’t very hungry when she died. Though maybe she was in too much pain to notice. Or maybe this body hasn’t eaten? Who’s body even is this?
Before she can allow herself into an existential spiral, Jane beckons her into another room. The kitchen, her brain supplies. It looks nothing like a kitchen she would see in her last life. She very carefully examines the various items in the room, wary of any influx of painful knowledge. It comes when she looks at the stove. Falling in front of everyone is a bit embarrassing, but they all seem to get it. Anna catches her this time, and leads her to a chair to rest. Once the pain subsides, she knows what all the appliances in the room do.
Interesting.
“Those are annoying, I’m surprised you didn’t scream. Anna always screams.” Anne says once Catherine’s eyes have cleared of pain and confusion.
Anna defends herself, “Not everyone had a super painful death, Anne. I was just really tired when I died.”
Anne rolls her eyes goodnaturedly, and then directs a question towards Catherine, one that is not yes or no answerable. Also, quite insensitive in topic.
“Okay, okay! Well, how did you die, Cathy?”
Anne talks a lot, it makes sense this was her main offense against Henry. Though Catherine shouldn’t judge, she talked a lot too.
Anna speaks up for her, telling them childbirth. Then she tells Anne to be more sensitive, not everyone talks about their deaths freely. Jane looks very sympathetic. She would be, she’d died in a similar fashion.
The conversation continues around her and eventually she is handed a plate of food. She should thank Catalina for it, it’d be incredibly rude not to. It’s already bad enough she hasn’t said a word yet. As they sit, Catherine Parr opens her mouth for the first time in this life to speak.
And nothing comes out.
The others don’t seem to judge her, though. There’s a ball of anxiety in her chest and the feeling reverberates through her whole body. That’s never happened before, and she silently makes a decision that she’s going to have to work on speaking.
Catalina smiles at her warmly, like she knows what Catherine was trying to say. Then they all continue their conversation, making sure to include her as much as possible while she tries and fails to convince herself to speak up.
This is strange. Just a moment ago (Years ago? When are they, exactly?) she’d been screaming. Now she can’t seem to make a noise. This life will be spent in silence, so it seems.

How I Met Your Father
Part of the Four Human-Eating Monsters and An Apathetic Florist AU!
Summary: Virgil's dad decides to come over to meet Virgil's soulmates. Who knew he'd have a story about his own run-in with a beautiful naga
Warnings: Talk of eating people
Word Count: 1,713
Previous Next (AO3 Link)
Virgil bit at his thumbnail as he mentally went through their plan. His dad was finally coming over and meeting his boyfriends. Virgil had realized that this would happen eventually, but he had never really planned for it. Patton rubbed gentle circles into his back.
“It’s gonna be alright, sweetheart. I’m sure he’ll understand.” Virgil wiped down the kitchen counters a second time, not taking his eyes away from his work.
“Everyone knows the plan, right?”
“Yup! I’m sure it’ll work out fine. The night’ll end with us all eating dinner around the table having a pleasant conversation, hopefully without him being scared of any of us.” Virgil took a deep breath.
“We’re not telling him about the cannibalism, right?”
“No human-eating talk!” Patton confirmed cheerily.
“Cool.” Virgil took a final glance around the kitchen, deeming it clean enough, before double-checking the fridge to make sure no one had crammed any body parts in there. Patton could still feel the anxiety in his stiff movements and slightly trembling hands. Once Virgil closed the fridge, Patton gently wrapped his arms around his shoulders, nuzzling into his back.
“If things don’t go well, I could wipe his memory of it and we could try again some other time. Only if you were okay with that, though.” Virgil hummed, enjoying the feeling of Patton’s cold arms wrapped around him. He didn’t like the idea of Patton mind-controlling anyone, much less his own dad. But in this case...
“We’ll keep that idea on hold.” Just in case he destroyed his relationship with this. Patton smiled, laying a kiss on Virgil’s back. He pulled away and checked the time.
“Your dad said four o’clock, right? He should be here soon.”
“Oh crap.” Virgil ran down the hall, nearly running into Logan as he swung the bedroom door open. Janus and Roman were already lying there, painting each other’s nails. Janus jumped slightly at Virgil’s entrance, looking him up and down for a moment before going back to what he was doing.
“Did you need to grab something before your father got here?”
“Just...wanted to check on you guys.” Virgil walked over to the bed, shoving a part of Janus’s tail out of the way before taking a seat. “You guys are gonna be quiet, right?”
“You act like that’s hard for us to do.” Roman spoke. Virgil stared at him until he noticed, causing him to huff in an annoyed fashion. “Okay, fair point. But we’ll try our best! We don’t want to ruin what you have.”
“You told your brother about this, right? He won’t be crashing through the window like he does pretty much every Friday night?”
“I told him, Emile’s keeping him distracted.” Virgil nodded to himself, trying to think of anything he might be missing. Janus put a hand on Virgil’s cheek.
“It’s going to be fine. This will work out. You, Logan, and I came up with the plan ourselves, so the chances of it going wrong aren’t very likely.”
“Well that’s optimistic.” Virgil mumbled. There was a knock on the door, causing Virgil to bolt up off the bed. “Alright, well...just stay quiet in here. I’ll call you guys in when he’s ready.” He practically ran out the door. Patton had already opened the front door, welcoming and introducing himself to Virgil’s father.
Virgil skidded to a stop once he got to the living room, giving his dad an awkward smile and wave, glancing quickly at Patton to make sure he had donned his human disguise.
“Pretty nice place you found here, Vee. Next to a forest too, huh?” Virgil’s dad spoke as he took a look around.
“Yeah. Good for photography and plants and stuff.” He didn’t want to mention the drider cave in walking distance from his home.
“Well, that suits you alright.” Logan came in in his human form, introducing himself to the father. They had all sat down around the coffee table, allowing Virgil’s dad to get to know them a bit before revealing anything to him. By the time he had been there for a full hour and Logan had begun making dinner, Virgil decided it was time to spill.
“So, uh...dad, about my soulmates—” He gestured awkwardly to Patton and Logan, “—they’re not exactly human.” Virgil’s father stared blankly, his mind seeming to have malfunctioned. Patton glanced at Virgil nervously, before shedding his human disguise.
“Mr. Sanders, I know this is probably really weird and scary, and maybe difficult to understand, but I’m a vampire, and Logan’s a ghoul.”
“We are not planning on eating your son if you have concerns about that.” Logan added. Virgil’s dad nodded slowly, glancing between the two.
“Huh.” He thought for a moment. “So are you two dead, or did you come to life or—”
“We were kinda born like this.” Patton answered. “Our parents and siblings are vampires and ghouls, too.”
“Okay...so what about your other soulmates? Where are they, actually?” Virgil furrowed his brow, confused at how calmly he was taking this.
“They’re in the bedroom. I could have them come out if you wanna meet them.” His dad nodded eagerly, only adding to Virgil’s confusion as he ran to the bedroom to call them out.
His father’s eyes passed right over Roman, only to land on Janus, staring with a somewhat nostalgic look in his eyes. “A naga, huh?” He chuckled to himself. “What, does seducing snakes run in the family?”
“I’m sorry, what?” His dad’s smile widened as he seemed to prepare himself to tell a story he had been waiting his whole life to tell.
“Son, did I ever tell you how I met your mother?”
“If you end this by saying I’m half naga or something, I swear to god.” Virgil returned to the couch, Roman and Janus taking their seats right next to him.
“Oh no, don’t worry, you’re completely human. You do technically have a couple adopted naga siblings, though.” The father seemed to relish in Virgil’s confusion, as he wouldn’t continue until Virgil demanded for him to explain what the hell he meant.
“You see, bud, back in college I stumbled into the woods and ran into this really beautiful naga named Medea. Long red hair, bright yellow eyes, blood dripping from her mouth, the works. And she was holding these four naga eggs and wasn’t really able to do anything while protecting them, so I just decided to try and help her out.” He sighed, his eyes glazed over as he reminisced.
“Yeah, I almost died, it was kinda hot. We got to talking after that and eventually she trusted me enough to watch her eggs while she went hunting for whatever she ate. We kinda hit it off and were a thing all throughout college, but then when college was over I had to move out of my dorm. I asked her and the kids to come with me to a new home, but she just didn’t want to.” He scanned over Janus for a moment, smirking to himself before continuing.
“She wanted me to live in her cave, and I wasn’t really comfortable with that. So, she got upset and started trying to kidnap me, and that was kind of the turn off. Had to sneak out at night to stay with a friend and her roommate a few miles away. And then when I got there, I introduced myself to her roommate, a simple “Hey I’m Toby, good to meet ya,” we shook hands, and that’s when we realized we were soulmates.”
He ended the story with a pat on Virgil’s knee and a proud smile. “And that’s how I met your mother. Well, one of your mothers; your other mom was a barista at a coffee shop.” They all stared at him with wide eyes, seeming to still be processing the whole “kidnapping” part.
“Dad, what the fuck?”
“Yeah.” His dad said with a sigh. “I try to stay out of Alabama just in case Medea’s still looking for me.” Janus took a deep breath, nodding and accepting that this was truly what he had just heard.
“Well, Mr. Sanders, I can assure you that I’m nothing like this Medea. I would never do that to Virgil.”
“You tried to make me stay in your cave when we first started dating.” Janus sent Virgil a glare before forcing on a calm face.
“Well, yeah, but I didn’t try to kidnap you.”
“Well...”
“Shut up, that was one time.” Janus hissed. Patton cleared his throat.
“So does this mean you’re okay with us dating?”
“Oh hell yeah, go ahead.”
“Wait, seriously?” Virgil asked. “I kept our relationship a secret for almost a whole year only to find out I could’ve told you about it right away?” His dad shrugged.
“And who’s fault is that really?”
“Dad, they kill people!”
“I’m fine with that, and it looks like you are, too.” The timer for the oven went off and Logan went to take care of it while Virgil tried to think of a comeback. Soon enough the six were having a casual discussion over dinner, and all was well.
That night as they all laid in bed, Virgil stared up at the ceiling blankly. “What do you think my moms are gonna think of this?”
“Wait, they aren’t dead?” Roman mumbled, already half-asleep.
“No, they were working tonight.”
“Well, your dad will probably tell them all about us, and that will confuse them quite a bit.” Logan answered.
“I wonder if he ever told them about Medea.” Patton questioned, running a hand across Janus’s tail.
“Probably not, so...your mothers are in for quite the confusing night, Virgil.” Janus smirked. Virgil couldn’t even imagine having to explain both his dad’s past relationship with a naga and his current relationship with four creatures his moms probably weren’t even aware existed at the same time.
He smirked, admittedly kind of pleased to imagine what his dad was probably going through right about now. “Good. Well, goodnight. Love you guys.” Patton hummed happily, curling up closer to him. With a chorus of various different love yous thrown around, the five drifted off slowly to sleep, Virgil feeling as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
