.. opinions on wind runner? i feel like im one of the only ones that genuinely hates her sometimes
If you feel like the only one who genuinely hates her, I think you need to look around more. Wind Runner is a very widely disliked character, because she's often used within the story as a small antagonist who "threatens" the authority of Tall Shadow. Gray Wing dislikes her. Thunder is openly cat-racist to her. She spends several books trying to break through the moor cats' xenophobia to join a group that came to HER LAND.
Then, when Moth Flight is old enough to be a relevant character in Forest Divided, Wind Runner is turned into Yet Another mean mom the very moment Moth displays ADHD. She's contrasted to her mate Gorse Fur, who is a Soft And Good Dad, and ultimately MASSIVELY punished with the harrowing events of Moth Flight's Vision (even though, for most of that book, she's completely right.)
Ask yourself why they're especially harsh on WIND RUNNER for being mean to her child, in the arc with Tom the Fucking Wifebeater and his redemption death, plus Thunder being forced to stop being mad at his abuser Clear Sky, please.
To me, Wind Runner is an intense, ambitious woman who's demonized for it in a way that men just aren't. She's subject to several misogynistic trends within WC, plus a huge helping of xenophobia that goes absolutely unexamined. If DOTC cared at all about women, it would have treated her with the nuance she deserves.
Wind Runner is treated with nearly endless suspicion by Gray Wing through books 1 - 3, while he's bending over backwards to suck Clear Sky's toes.
Her wanting to join the group that came TO HER HOME and being a bit pushy about it earns a stronger reaction from Gray Wing than Clear Sky murdering people.
She's pressured into changing her name "to fit in," and it's still not enough. She wanted to join the group so bad she changed her name, at the request of the Mountain Cats, for a chance of being better accepted
This came after she'd already saved Jagged Peak's life when a burrow collapsed on him. She's plenty trustworthy.
She keeps doing shit to try and prove herself to this group of assholes. Remember Bumble being dragged back to her domestic abuser? Gray Wing interprets this as a power struggle, when WIND RUNNER WAS NOT EVEN PART OF THE GROUP AT THE TIME.
From Wind Runner's POV, she did something that the Moor cats wanted done. It was fucking evil. It was committing violence against another member of the out-group the cats see her as.
But who actually has the power here? Tall Shadow does.
Gray Wing said it himself that she could have come up with some excuse for Bumble to stay, and she didn't. In fact, any cat could have spoken up. No one did.
and still. STILL. Wind Runner gets nothing. Her reward is Gray Wing surmising that actually, her doing their sick dirtywork was a political move.
It's more consistent as a motivation with how Wind Runner wants to join their group. The thing she's been doing.
She only actually gets to join the group after Thunder starts publicly hurling slurs at her for suggesting they need to be ready for Clear Sky to attack them. "What do you know about peace? Last time I was here you were NOTHING BUT A ROGUE WITH A ROGUE'S NAME"
Gray Wing even starts purring when she gives birth, because her ambition goes away briefly and she "stops bossing everyone around." this is treated like a sweet thing. god forbid women retain their personalities when they have kids
She loses her first premature child to a seizure and Gray Wing starts proselytizing his religion to her. "Maybe it's a good thing your weakest child died because Jesus has them now" I want to beat him with a hammer
When her second child gets sick, Clear Sky has a bright idea that involves killing it. I refer to this as his "reverse leper colony" suggestion. He only develops a sense of humanity towards the sick when his brother's pregnant wife is in danger. Wind Runner and her kitten barely seem to clock as people to him.
It's only after her SECOND baby succumbs to a horrible, painful death that she decides the moor cats are assholes, and she goes to start her own group. It's LONG overdue. I was extremely excited to see it.
Now. Listen.
I've been treated just like Moth Flight before. I've practically heard the scolding in Book 6 Chapter 3 verbatim. I'm not downplaying anything about Wind Runner being harsh to her; being yelled at like that never fixed the problem.
What I'm saying is that this is the SAME arc that summons the hollowed-out ghost of Storm to coo that Clear Sky "never drove anyone away" with his abusive behavior and gives Tom the Wifebeater a heroic redemption death.
So why is the scolding from Wind Runner treated as unambiguously harsh? What's the difference between her and them?
Why is it that outside of this little bubble of the community, you can get buried in a flood of people crying about how "Clear Sky made Summisteaks Butt he thought it was the right thing :((( He feels bad about shoving Thunder's face in a weeping, pus-filled wound and trying to kill him :((((" but Wind Runner is mean about Moth Flight not catching a rabbit and she should be skinned alive
Why is WIND RUNNER held responsible for the death of Clear Sky's child in Moth Flight's Vision, WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY HIS OWN FAULT??
So, why should I hate her? Because she's mean to the idiot protagonists? Because she's Yet Another Bad Mom whose actions ARE treated as Bad in the story, in the arc famous for openly weeping whenever someone's mad at their abusive dad?? When she has this whole horrific, unexamined story about how incredibly bigoted The Settlers are towards her and the extremes she goes to in order to please them?
I'm glad she's mean, actually. She should have been even meaner. I think she should have a gun

Monty is the worst character in the Security Breach Show world, or at the very least between SAMS, LAES, and MGAFS. And I mean that: I have never hated a character in ANY media more than I hate Monty.
Monty is rude, aggressive, greedy, and doesn’t give a fuck about the people around him. From the very beginning, when he was shown in SAMS, he was an asshole: they destroyed Sun and Moon’s mini daycare area after Sun hired them to take care of it, scammed Sun with their space business thing, and exploited Moon for his money. And you would think that during the Eclipse arc(s) that she would improve because people she interacts with are getting hurt, and their world could potentially get destroyed, and yes, she did do some good things and had been a big help for the celestial family, BUT none of those “acts of kindness” were truly long-term.
When Earth was introduced as a character — who, by the way, is the only damn reason I want Monty to stay alive and well because I know that Earth will be upset should something like that happen — Monty immediately pined on her, but in the worse way he could’ve: he set himself and Earth on dates when Earth had absolutely NO CLUE that the dates they were going on were romantic and deliberately lied about his past to keep Earth from finding out the terrible things he’d done. Actually, I hate Monty x Earth as a whole because Earth is much too good for someone like them. Monty is an absolute simp for her, and usually that can be cute and stuff, but he’s ONLY nice to her.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Monty quite literally BEAT OLD FOXY SO HARD that his memories hit reset, to which he rebuilt him and essentially made current Foxy his best friend. But the minute Earth came into the picture and they started officially dating, Foxy was abandoned and is still consistently treated like garbage by the person who was deemed his greatest friend. I mean, in the episode where Monty gets her more feminine body, she goes to Foxy’s house to APOLOGIZE for being a shitty person to him, and what does he do the VERY NEXT EPISODE he’s with Foxy in? HE KNOCKS FOXY UNCONSCIOUS AND TURNS HIM INTO A FOX PLUSH TO GET BACK AT HIM FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN’T EVEN HIS FAULT.
Not to mention, Monty had straight up THREATENED both Solar and Ruin all because of her own rage against Stitchwraith. I understand she was going through a hard time, but NEVER has she taken responsibility for those outbursts nor has she even APOLOGIZED. In addition, she MURDERED a helpless version of Stitchwraith from another universe all because he was a Stitchwraith, and she didn’t get the information she wanted out of him EVEN THOUGH PUPPET EXPLICITLY TOLD HER NOT TO RESORT TO VIOLENCE.
The way he ignores people’s advice, well-beings, etc. for his own selfish reasons make me genuinely hate Monty as a person and as a character, especially because he’s supposed to be a “good guy” that has “improved” since the beginning of SAMS. I could honestly rant forever about how terrible Monty is, but then this would be far too long. I honestly hope to god that Earth eventually puts her foot down and corrects Monty about their behavior because that seems like it’ll be the only feasible way that Monty can truly improve since Earth’s the only one they listen to in some capacity

Ok so apparently there's a new Ed is abusive argument cropping up that's like taking us arguing that Ed's not a domestic abuser in a vacuum and arguing "but he abused his crew" as if that was the take that people were arguing with but I do actually want to address that take because it's also straight up not true either.
Like we have been repeatedly told you what business as usual for a pirate ship looks like, and it's not what Ed is doing. Stede opens the show with floggings and keelhaulings mentioned as standard practice. His crew doesn't take him seriously at least partially because he doesn't do those things. In 1.08 we get the first mention of captain Hornigold as having stabbed and beaten down Jack and Ed and having treated them worse than dogs. Episode 9 we get captain Izzy and what's the first thing he does? Threatened to withhold food for a whole week. Then we meet Hornigold who reveals that a punishment on his ship was a crab clawing through your stomach and that a standard threat was skinning a person and feeding it back to them.
And what does Ed do? Cuts off his abuser's toes. Shoots him in the leg for having the most gaslighting audacity I've ever seen. But aside from Izzy, in regards to whom I have cell block tango cued up for Ed, what did he actually do?
The first time someone expresses discontent is after the wedding raid which I think is probably towards the end of the 89 raids given that Izzy has his breakdown immediately after Ed throws them a cake party, in fact I would guess that it's raid number 88, they do raid 89 in between Izzy getting shot and Ed telling Frenchie they're never going back to land, and then Ed decides to kill himself that night. So anyway, raid 88, they've been doing this for 3 months, and Jim says "Is it just me or was the wedding thing a bit over the line?" to which Archie responds "IDK I've never really been to a wedding before so I have nothing to compare it to." as if she's just happy to be there, and then Fang says "I've never seen Blackbeard like this before," Which establishes that what we're going through right now, the 88 soon to be 89 raids are atypical of Ed's behavior, and then follows it up with "He didn't bat an eye when Ivan got killed" which establishes both why Ivan isn't around and why Fang is so sad, but also might establish that Ed would be upset with crewmembers dying, which is consistent with episode 4 when he yells at Stede that the crew dying is going to be his fault to show him what it's like being Blackbeard.
Then we have the scene where the crew defy Ed. Ed orders them to dump the treasure overboard, because it's fucking treasure. What's Ed's response? To take another one of Izzy's toes so that he looks like he cares about enforcing rules on his ship while not punishing the people actually going against him but instead punishing the guy who low key ruined his life. Then Izzy does his "you can cut off my toes but I need to know that this is a sexual thing for you too" bit and Ed doesn't take the bait until he says a Stedeism. And then he goes out to threaten everyone with a gun, which, you know. Not great but he ends it like this so
Tumblr media
you know. something to consider.
and then he doesn't really do anything to the crew until the murder-suicide.
so his list of crimes currently is:
not really giving a fuck about Ivan dying where Fang can see it
Dismembering his abuser where people who don't have the full context can see it (not a crime just a based action that has side effects for the people who have to see it)
waving a gun around in a way that makes you wonder if he's about to shoot himself in the head
trying so so so so so so hard to get people to kill him because he's addicted to outsourcing the big job
Demanding the crew dump treasure overboard (standard practice if Zheng Yi Sao is to be believed)
Overworking the crew a little bit.
When we measure this against the stick of every non Stede pirate captain we've seen so far I think what these crimes amount to is hurting your friends in the process of hurting yourself. And that using the term abuse which calls to mind a very specific phenomenon is one of two things: Melodramatic moralizing (which is the internet's fav thing to do so you know what sure) or demonizing the brown guy in the midst of a mental health crisis.
I honestly think that outside of the murder suicide the only reason anyone had a problem with any of it was because Stede showed them what piracy could be like, that's the whole narrative point right. Stede's doing things differently, in a way that doesn't hurt everyone involved, and nobody wants to go back to the old way, because they're healing from that and Ed stopped healing because Someone told him that if he didn't there would be a fucking problem(wonder who it could have been). Like he's not even flogging anyone be serious.

This was the third time in the past half hour that you had to deal with their bickering.
Normally, you loved the twins. Tagging along with them as the occasional third party on a particularly tricky mission was something you never grew tired of. Especially when it came to Lemon; he always had a self care pack for everyone ready—normally consisting of a snack and small trinkets tailored to your person—knowing that everyone performed their best in high spirits. It was one of the things you had come to look forward to on your trips with them. Alongside Tangerines ever present charm, although you'd never admit it. His ego was big enough already as is.
But sometimes even the most enjoyable of people could wear your patience thin. The most notable moment? Right fucking now.
"Aren't you two supposed to get along? Being brothers and business partners?" You finally snapped, turning your head away from the foggy window you had been staring at blankly ever since the two men across from you had begun bickering. Honestly you were surprised you had managed to hold out from saying anything this long. Sitting still and shutting up hadn't always been your strong suit in life.
"Oh yeah? Gettin along? Try bein his brother afta he's spent the past hour fuckin quizin you on a train show for kids!" Tangerine barked out, rolling his eyes in Lemons direction.
"You ain't exactly a delight either, bruv." Was all Lemon responded with. You could visibly see Tangerines jaw tense and the veins in his neck stand out, eliciting a hollow chuckle from you.
If you hadn't been contracted to the tiny and awfully scratchy seat of a fast-moving train, you would have already moved to the other room just to get away to the bickering. Maybe even enjoy a moment of silence or two. Sadly, that wasn't the case, and now you were stuck in economy class with two pissy englishmen practically breathing down your neck.
"That's it." You grumbled, unfortunately aware of the way both of them had gone back to ignoring you in favor of their argument.
"Hey, miss? Yeah, over here for a second please."
All it took was a well timed arrival of a snack cart, a few peices of yen, and an exchange of goods for you to get Tangerine to shut up.
The brits face contorted into one of suprise as you reached across the table in between you two to aggressively shove a peice of mochi in his mouth, temporarily unable to cuss his brother out for his reaction as Lemon began laughing. It was an unorthodox way to cut a conversation off sure, but at this point you really just didn't give a shit.
"Th f'ck 'as tha or!"
"Don't talk with your mouth full, you muppet."
Tangerine was quick to swallow the treat you'd so forcefully obliged him too before speaking again. The urge to snicker at the powder now lightly dusting his mustache was tempting but you held back. Barely.
"The fuck was that for!?" He was quick to snap.
"I needed you to shut up." You shrugged. Lemon was practically tearing up with laughter now. It almost made you want to shove another piece of mochi in Tangerines mouth just to see him double over with laughter, but you valued your life at the moment.
"You could have just fucken asked me!"
"Nah I seriously doubt it." Lemon chimed in for you, snorting occasionally. "Got a skull as thick as your ego mate."
"Cheers to that." You lifted your imaginary cup in Lemons direction as the cheep jab to Tangerine. Who at this point was resorting to a form of pouting.
"A big man baby. That's what I reckon you are." You managed to grin, only teasing now. "Lucky I love you so much, Tang. Otherwise I would have thrown you out the back of this train a few stops ago."
"Love me huh?" He was leaning forward now, no longer showing any signs of the small show he had been making earlier. Now his teeth were showing as he smiled smugly, resting his chin in the palm of his hand. Surely a look that he used to charm many people with in the past. And now it was being pointed your way. "Do tell me more, love."
Ignoring the way your mouth went dry at the nickname he so casually used, you scoffed.
"Don't read too much into it. I can always take it back."
"You wouldn't though." Tangerines grin was downright cheeky now. He had resorted to leaning back in his seat now, resting his hands behind his head confidently.
"Right. If you two are just gonna flirt I'm gonna trod off yeah?" Lemon sighed, making to leave. He preferred not to see the two of you pine over each right now. Maybe if he hurried he be able to check on the breifcase and catch a couple of episodes of Thomas in the bathroom on his phone.
"No you don't. Don't you even think of leaving me with this asshole." His arm was roughly grabbed by you and Lemon was shoved back down in his seat forcefully.
"Aw what happend to loving me?" Tangerine cooed with an outward jutt of his bottom lip. Your eyes lingered on it for a moment too long before snapping back up to his face, your own feeling slightly warm. You blamed it on the giant ass light hanging above you all, knowing full well that wasn't it.
"People change. Now shut up and eat the rest of that mochi I bought before I actually do kick you off this train."
"Whatever you say luv."
Sighing you turned to look back at the window next to you, refusing to look back at the assassin across from you.
Maybe falling in love on the job was going to be a bit more difficult to handle than you'd originally thought.

Matty Healy and Palestine
as many of you will have noticed, since the October 7 attacks and the subsequent Gazan crisis, I have, on a weekly basis, been receiving asks and DMs asking me to justify Matty’s silence on the matter. Furthermore, any time that I have criticized another celebrity or public figure (even on matters that have nothing to do with speaking up about Gaza) I have received “oh what about matty being silent about Palestine?” As a “rebuttal.” Let this be my official response ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Matty’s silence is disappointing to me.
His justification for his silence is, in my opinion, dumb and invalid. The argument that people shouldn’t look to him and Brittany Broski for political activism is reductive. It assumes all criticism of celebrities on the matter is performative. He is not the same as Broski and it’s either stupid or willfully dismissive (or both) of him to put himself and Broski in the same camp.
In my mind, whatever his reasons may be, it’s still disappointing.
I recognize that his current position might have something to do with the backlash he’s received this summer.
Personally, I don’t find that to be a legitimate argument for being silent but I respect it if that’s how he feels.
My disappointment in him with respect to this particular issue in no way negates what I belief about him: that he’s a good guy, that he stands up for what’s right, etc.
Nor do I think it erases his track record as an artist who is vocal about social politics and views his voice as part of his artistic identity.
I’m fine being disappointed with him and also being a fan. I don’t find those two things to be in conflict with one another.
I prefer to have a relationship with the artists that I love where I treat them as human beings. That includes not disposing of them the second that we have a disagreement.
What I do find odd, though, is people’s obsession with his silence. Gaza has been under attack for close to 100 days. So, for close to 100 days, there are those of you who woke up every week determined to ask me about this again and again and again and again….
It makes me wonder why? What about him falling short as a human being but still being worthy of respect really has your panties in a bunch like that?
Have you ever considered, instead of demanding an explanation of me, maybe putting that obsessive energy into calling your reps? Donating? Protesting?
Especially when, it would seem, I’m the only blog in 75blr who is consistently being pressed on this issue.
It’s starting to feel racist
I’m not your token Palestinian fan and don’t appreciate being treated as such.
I’m also not Matty’s spokesperson. PR manager, etc. so why is my opinion constantly questioned?
Again, it’s only me who’s getting those asks, and I have to wonder, are you all implying that I’m a bad fan? A bad Palestinian? Who the fuck are you to judge that? Tokenizing aspects of my identity that I’ve chosen to share online is an act of aggression. So I’m drawing a boundary here.
I will not be commenting on the whole “Matty’s silence on Palestine” issue any more. Please respect that.

Okay , onto my Frank request then! Being Frank’s friend and he’s all over the place but he’s attentive when it comes to you . He makes sure you’re okay and looks out for you . One night , he’s driving you to your place . He pulls you close in the front seat , cuddling his side while he’s holding a cigarette and driving with the other hand. When he stops at a red light , he turns to you to tell you how beautiful you are . One thing leading to another , you’re making out and when you reach your house , he’s picking you up by the back of your thighs and carries you inside . He makes you scream that night and then you fall asleep on his chest . But when you wake up , you’re in an empty bed . You’re so upset , thinking Frank treated you like any other girl he takes home for the night . You’re crying and you don’t hear the door opening or a worried Frank rushing to your side after picking up breakfast

Oh this sexy menace? Fuck yes.
Frank x f reader
"I don't ca-
"It's y/n"
Franks eyes grew wide, grabbing the phone from his friend to answer his call; he usually lets it go to voicemail but never with you.
"Hey peanut, you okay?"
"Mhm, m'fine" You slur out and he's on his feet making his way to his car. You said you were having a girls night and at least it sounded like you enjoyed yourself.
"Where are you right now"
He comes and grabs you, smirking when you stumble out of the club, right into his arms. He carries you to his car and buckles you in, you have a goofy grin plastered on your face and he's definitely taking a few pictures to tease you with for later.
Once he reaches your place, he has you in his arms again, chuckling at the way you cling onto him while he carries you to your room. He carefully removes your lashes and does his best to take off your makeup. He slips you into one of his shirt's you've stolen, tucking you into bed before crashing on the couch just in case you get sick in the middle of the night.
He knows he can be a bit of a mess but not when it comes to you, not his favorite little peanut.
*****
“I told you it was good” You sass, while Frank shakes his head, taking another drag of his cigarette, driving you home. “Just admit it”
“Fine, it was okay”
“It was more than okay!” You poke his arm, the both of you coming back from a movie you had insisted on going to. If anyone else had told him to go, it would have been a hard no, but for you? He was at your door within minutes. That didn’t mean he wanted to admit it was actually a good movie.
You continue rambling on about the movie, which makes him smile. Everything about you makes him smile. Your voice. Your smile. The way your nose crinkles when you laugh. He takes another long drag of his cigarette, he can’t stop the way his mind is racing; you’re so beautiful and sweet. You’ve been the most consistent person in his life, you’ve been there for him in more ways than he can count. You’re stopped at a red light and he can’t even stop the words tumbling out of his mouth.
“You’re gorgeous”
You roll your eyes, you were not new to Frank’s flirting, this was nothing new.
“Y/n”
Hm. He never used your name. You gasp, feeling his arm pull you closer to him, making him look at you. “You’re so beautiful...”
Your face is near his, you can feel your skin heating up with each passing second. He leans in slightly and before you can stop yourself, your lips smash onto his. His tongue slips past your lips, his fingers tugging your hair gently, as if something he had contained for ages was finally releasing.
You moan, feeling his lips trail down to your neck, whining in protest when he has to reluctantly pull away after the light changes. There's only a few more blocks till you get to your place, but you’re more desperate than ever.
As soon as he pulls up to your drive way, he’s ran around to the passenger seat before you can even unbuckle yourself. He easily lifts you to wrap around his waist, your thighs hugging onto him tightly and his lips are on you again, heading straight to your room.
*****
“Y/n, give it to me baby, just one more sweet heart, c’mon”
Sweat is beading at his forehead, his cock fucking in and out of you, he wants to cum so badly but not until you cum one more time for him. His hands are toying with your clit the other holding your waist while he gazes down at you. His lips are brushing against yours while he rolls his hips, the tip of his cock hitting your g-spot each time.
He’s already made you cum twice (the benefit of being friends, you’ve told him what you like and he definitely paid attention during that conversation). The sheets are damp, your mixed arousal dripping out of you, making a mess everywhere. Its sloppy and desperate, pent up tension between you both reaching an all time high.
“F-FR-ANK” you cry out, clenching and squeezing around his cock, your orgasm right on edge. Tears are prickling your eyes, pleasure is surging through your body, because of him. Your walls and fluttering and you can feel his cock throb.
“Cum with me baby, milk my cock, you feel so good baby-fuck-can’t hold it”
“I-fuck-I’m CUMMING” You cling onto him, your pussy making it impossible for him to hold off any longer, he can feel your slick gush out of you and he’s only going to fill you back up.
“Gonna cum so hard for you y/n, FUCK” You can feel his warmth fill you up, his pace unrelenting trying fuck you through your high.
You can barely move afterwards, hardly able to feel the warm wash cloth between your legs. You feel his arms wrap around you to pull you into him; he places your head onto his chest. He’s cradling your head, gently stroking your hair while you fall asleep, you’ve never felt so complete.
****
The bedside his empty.
His clothes are gone.
You don’t see his wallet anywhere.
He left.
You should have known. You were no different. You knew exactly who he was last night, he’d shown you who he was time and time again. Why did you believe you were any different.
Maybe because you actually loved him.
You thought he maybe felt the same.
Guess not.
You curled into a ball, tears streaking your face as you cried, your face buried in your knees. You didn’t even hear the door open, crying harder when you thought about all the times you wished he was yours.
"Peanut? Hey, hey baby" He rushes over to your side, immediately pulling you into his lap. His heart is beating out of his chest, he’s hardly ever seen you cry, mostly because he’s always there to stop the tears before they even start.
"Baby what’s wrong"
"I-” You stop yourself from speaking, your skin heating up while he brushes your hair away from your face waiting for you to answer. You feel can’t bring yourself to tell him why your upset, not wanting him to think you’re clingy, especially if there's nothing more here. He looks terrified, wondering if he hurt you or if you felt pressured into doing something you didn’t want in the first place, he’d never live with himself if he hurt you.
"Baby? Did I do something wro-
"No!" You bite your lip, worried about telling him more. "I-I thought you left" You whisper, looking down at your lap, refusing to look at him.
"No sweet heart, I just went to grab us something to eat, thought you'd like those waffles from the diner"  He’s rubbing soothing circles on your back, pulling you to lay on his chest, just like he did the night before. "Why would I leave you"
You shrug, not wanting to tell him you thought he saw you like every other girl he takes home, fearing that really was how he saw you.
"I'd never leave you peanut"
You snuggle into his chest, still feeling unsure. He wraps his arms around you, his lips brushing your forehead. He’s thought about this moment 100 times over, and nothing compares to how perfect you feel, sitting against him.
“You promise?” You whisper, smiling softly when he tips your chin to look up at you.
“Baby, if you haven’t pieced it together already-
He hesitates. He might had said this haphazardly in the past before but this is real. He means it. He doesn’t want to screw this up.
“I love you”
You blink up at him, gasping when he comes down to kiss you, the sweetest softest kiss anyone's ever given you. He stays with you the whole day. Many days. and nights. and you’re always safe. you’re always loved. in his arms.

I think because Christian is very physically affectionate and just more approachable to me I became a Christian apologist. My MC is also a Christian apologist 🤭, he's definitely her favorite sibling.
What are Christian's opinions about the RO's?
Christian is a sweetheart, a slightly fucked up sweetheart, but a sweetheart nonetheless. He probably wouldn’t want the MC to be apologetic towards him, because he knows he screwed up (you’ll find out how as the story progresses). But it’s one of the those situations where there’s no real winners and losers. It’s just an unfortunate situation all around.
In the coming update there’ll be more dialogue options within Christina and Cienna’s scenes to be able to defend or agree with one or the other. Or to just be neutral in general.
Tumblr media
Koda: Christian thinks that Koda is a standup guy, and absolutely adores him. Could totally see them both becoming best buds with one another. He’d probably ask for a piggyback ride with Koda fully shifted (and be super excited when it’s granted).
Scarlett: He’s kind of intimidated by her, not gonna lie. Not only because she’s a Voltaire, but simply because of her icy attitude (though he absolutely respects it). Once he sees how she treats you? He’ll probably clutch at his heart and coo. Though his stance on Scarlett’s younger brother wouldn’t shift— thinks he’s a dick.
Cyrus/Cyra: Has never met a Phoenix in person before and would be absolutely trying to figure out what they could do. He’d like them, probably would think they’re in their head too much, but thinks that their loyal nature and steadfast disposition would be good for you.
Quinn: Has met Quinn a few times in the past and hasn’t ever thought anything bad about them. He knows that they’ll be good for you, and you’d be good for them, and he’d totally try to plan hikes with Quinn to bond with them more (as he can sort of pick up on the fact that they’re a nature person).
Caden: For one he’s completely shocked about it. He thinks Caden’s great— they’ve been able to put up with him for a while after all— but that anything came about your relationship in general. I think he’d be cautiously optimistic for you both and want nothing but the best for you. Would probably start asking questions towards Caden that he never did in the past because he didn’t feel like they were close enough— now, as the future brother-in-law, he feels it’s his duty.
Sloane: Is completely skeptical of them at first, but he holds a great deal of sympathy for them too. He can see the pain that lurks within their eyes and comes out as harshly barbed words— he’d just be worried about his sibling potentially being in the way of that. But when he can truly see how much you make Sloane happy, and how much you make them happy in return, you’ll both have his full support.
Blake: He’s not surprised by it in the slightest. Demons, especially succubi/incubi, don’t tend to hang around all that much (especially when it comes to close relationships), but they’ve stayed. Blake has long since showcased their loyalty to you, and the family as a whole, so Christian just sees it as a natural progression in the relationship that’s already been established.
Reginald/Regina: He’d be charmed by their intelligence and inquisitive nature. Though he’d also be cautious due to the whole human thing, he wouldn’t wish to accidentally hurt them. I think it might take him a while to fully warm up to R, not because of the human aspect, but because he’s not used to consistent prodding inquires, once he gets over that though he’ll be in full support.

johnny suh / angst prompt requested by anon [see notes below] | 🎧 inspired by facebook friends niki
-
you do not know how it all started, really. maybe the little things piled up until they have become a single, big issue to deal with. maybe the magic isn’t there anymore. you two just shared an apartment like roommates. the dinner’s gone cold every time he comes home. johnny never says “i love you” back any longer. you were so sure of marrying him in the future but you couldn’t tell if he feels the same anymore. until you were right.
“i wish i never met you.”
and fuck, it was hard to hear those words coming from a significant one whom you’ve almost spent your whole life with. you couldn’t hold back your tears anymore—the frustration of feeling like a ghost walking around in the apartment just kicked in impulsively. no more holding back.
“me too, johnny.” you sneered. “i can’t believe i wasted the best days of my life with you.”
johnny did not know how grave his words were until you brought the ball to the other side of the court. he just stared at you, taken aback at your words. his guilt starts to creep in. he tried to maneuver it but you…
you just stormed off your shared living room and headed toward your bedroom. you brought out your luggage and piled the clothes unorganized and the quickest way possible. you wanted to get out. you felt suffocated and betrayed in a room with someone who wishes he would have been completely alone instead.
or who wishes it was another person instead of you who accompanied him all these years.
when you zipped your luggage, you did not spare a glance at johnny. in a snap, he saw you walking away from his life. gone are the honeymoon, cloud-nine days when your childhood best friend was head over heels when you said “yes, johnny. i’m yours. forever.”. it would’ve been nice to end up with your kindergarten crush, your pretend-to-be prom date because you two were too goofy to mingle around in high school, and the unserious-turned-A-student college jock who attended your college graduation because your parents were too far away from you.
and that night, neither of you called or texted. the lines are still open. you waited for him to apologize for being so so close-minded and for not trying to work things out because you would have given him another chance to explain himself, or maybe you could just hear him saying “i don’t love you anymore”, it would bring you to ease. but weeks and months went by, your urge to punch him endlessly in the chest subsided. the love turned almost so bitter, so hateful. it was so abrupt but you lost your best friend. and he just easily let whatever this was for him; but for you, it was your everything.
months turned to a year or two. you don’t know what he has been up to but seeing his instagram, he was traveling the states. recently, he visited his mom back in chicago. he was tagged in the photo, posted on his mom’s facebook account. he looked better, calm, even. when he was with you just weeks before the open-ended breakup, he could not keep his hands to himself; fidgeting everywhere. one minor inconvenience and he snaps.
you bumped into jaehyun. you assumed his friends were no longer your friends. but he was kind enough to recognize you from afar and say, “i missed you!”. he treated you to some coffee after work, and there you learned johnny was struggling with his career path. he left his law school life for photography for quite some time now, jaehyun said. he never expounded it but he said he is in a better and more consistent position in life now.
a part of you was sad that he never once brought it up, that he no longer trusted you in these kinds of things. this was the curse of open-ended things: your mind betrays you to give yourself your own closure—and the closure there is is you were no longer johnny’s home.
on the other hand, you quit social media. but you never deleted johnny’s pictures on your feed. needless to say, you have made yourself occupied with your work and life. you got promoted and opted for an apartment you can finally call your own. you’ve been seeing some and meeting new friends and potential lovers, but you couldn’t deny you weren’t ready for another relationship yet. you are pretty sure johnny is doing the same. he posts his champagne nights and new cities visited on his instagram. his stories were him hanging out with his friends. some are familiar, including jaehyun and mark. and you are glad.
but sometimes, it gets frustrating. you wish for johnny’s happiness to this day but you still torture yourself by scrolling through his feed sometimes. you just wait for him to block you, really. if he could just end your misery by hitting the damn block button, you would come back to social media without your mind thinking betraying you that he’s still checking up on you. because johnny never did anyway. because what fucking part of “i wish i never met you.” is him not deleting your shared photos together so you can finally call it a day?
then a minute later, you were crafting a long text saying you wish him the best, and your prerogative tells you in order to move on, you’re cutting off lines. johnny wanted this to happen anyway, you thought. you’re also doing this for yourself. it has been two years, for fuck’s sake. and he threw all those years spent together like nothing.
but it was so stupid to let someone know you are finally blocking them, isn’t it?
so you hit the backspace button until all the things you wrote for an hour, all carefully curated, were gone. you scoffed when you almost sent that you miss him every day, that you pray for him for whatever he’s going through, and that you’re glad that he visited his mom after five years of being homesick. because what part of this sweet cooing he deserves? you have to admit, the push and pulling of emotions, of letting go and trying one more time have been a massive conflict, and fuck, you have been so inconsistent. all of these because you still couldn’t properly process that last night when he invalidated you.
you were about to close the messaging app when johnny’s status lit green.
and the conversation thread has made appear three grey dots from his end.
you waited.
until johnny's message appeared on your screen.
“i have everything now. but what’s the point of these if you’re not here?"
-

for the controversial naruto asks: 4, 11, and 13
4. Are the romantic undertones between Naruto and Sasuke intentional or accidental?
I've seen quite a lot of talk about this in the fandom already, done a little thinking myself. The answer to this question, of course, is that we'll never know unless Kishimoto comes out and says whether it was intentional or not. Even then, there's obviously more than a bit of motivation for him to say it wasn't intentional in order to protect himself and his interests from homophobic backlash. If he said it WAS intentional, I'd take him at his word for the very same reason. He'd have to be pretty brave to come out and let everybody know it was gay on purpose; no telling what could happen to him.
But I realize the question isn't about Kishimoto, it's about what I think personally. Personally? I'm torn. If you told me one way or another, I'd accept it either way. However, I do think the symbolism in Naruto, the thematic parallels, and illusions to romance, are a bit heavy-handed at times. I've wondered myself if it could even possibly BE an accident with the sheer amount of innuendo and subtext. Not just with Sasuke and Naruto either.
I suppose when someone who's not queer writes something in the name of platonic love, tries to send it home, tries to make it as sincere as possible, there will always be cases where love can be interpreted more than one way. I'm not someone who puts very strict labels on platonic and romantic love. I don't put one above the other. Devotion is something that exists in love in all of its forms. I can hold hands with my friends and my partner. I'd die for my mother and I'd die for a stranger. Emotional closeness, physical shows, sacrifice, etc. are not enough for me to say one way or another if someone is in romantic or platonic love with someone else. It's only enough to say that they are in love. They care for each other. They are important figures in each other's lives. For this reason, I don't think it's a very important question or one that can be answered by watching the show. Naruto and Sasuke are in love in whatever way you want them to be. I want them to be gay, so to me, the romance is real.
HOWEVER, given the context, Kishimoto I'm sure doesn't share my opinions on blurry love. Is it possible that by introducing the devotion, the sacrifice, the love that everyone in the show CONSISTENTLY treats as bizarre and out of pocket, he intended to create a subtext of romance which would not be accepted if it was written overtly? I would say it's possible, in fact, even probable. I won't examine it in detail, because I hesitate to say even acts like kissing are strictly indicative of romance, but that's just the kind of queer I am. But when you give your duel protags, which you've built an unbreakable bond between, wives who they don't want to be around and lives they hate, and their only reprieve is seeing each other? Well, I can see why the whole fucking fandom has to stop and think. Very curious.
11. Is Itachi a martyr, a victim, or a perpetrator?
I don't think Itachi's character can be broken down so easily. He's a lot of things. More thoughts here :)
13. Was Kakashi trying his best? Was he a "good" sensei?
Oh, this is a tough one for me, something I've thought about a lot. First, let's start by establishing what a "good" sensei is. In my opinion, I'd say a good sensei is someone who protects their students, plays to their strengths, offers encouragement and help when needed, and ultimately tries to make decisions in their students' best interest. Granted, I haven't watched the anime in some time, but I think, all things considered, Kakashi was a pretty good sensei. Definitely, I believe he tried to be better than Minato, and he at the very least succeeded in that.
There are times I was disappointed in Kakashi. When Naruto was grieving the loss of Sasuke or Jiraiya, feeling responsible, I believe he should have been there for him. However, it's also important to remember that Kakashi is a soldier- one of the strongest in the Leaf- he has responsibilities besides just his students, things that are expected of him to which he can't simply say no. This too is important to keep in mind if we're evaluating him on how good of a sensei he's been. It's up for debate, obviously, because the source material doesn't say where Kakashi is or what he's doing all the time, but I believe in the cases where Naruto, Sasuke, or Sakura needed him and he wasn't there, he would have liked to be and was unable. Given his conduct the rest of the time, I don't think that's a stretch (i.e. leaving vegetables for Naruto in his apartment, going after Sasuke even when he was assigned to a different mission, etc.)
I'd call him a good sensei, and if he wasn't, I'd still say he was trying his best. Always thinking back on Minato and his own squad, I think it was very important to Kakashi that he try to make up for what he saw as a failure to his last team, by protecting and teaching Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. He was willing from the very beginning to die in Zabuza's water prison if it meant the kids would live instead of dying trying to break him out- and at the very end, he stayed with them through the Obito, Madara, and then Kaguya fight, when he had no reason to believe he would make it out alive or even be of any help. The lives of his students seem to be in the forefront of Kakashi's mind consistently throughout the series, which I find commendable in a universe where child soldiers are born every minute and their deaths are treated as an unnavigable necessity. It speaks volumes to Kakashi's character that he is even willing to turn his back on this ideology that's pushed by all his elders in the series. I'd say he and Gai do it best. They've had enough of the killing; I believe they make an effort to overcome the cycle that's been perpetuated, even if it's only their respective group of three kids each.
Yes, even though Kakashi has made his share of mistakes, I think he tries his best, and I believe he is the best sensei he can be with all his flaws and baggage lol
Thanks for the ask :)

Anyone who defends Teppei or pities him has to be such a loser like there’s so so much misogyny in taking the abusive pedophiles side in comparison to the child he tormented
“Ohhhh poor teppei :((“ it’s a grown man who deserves it, get a life
LITERALLY. Imagine sympathizing with the fucking piece of shit abuser over his victim. I don't care if he's trying to be a better person now, his feelings should never be prioritized over the child he hurt deeply.
I'm also sorry for using this as an opportunity to ramble but...
Satoko killing this new version of Teppei who's willing to change for the better for her sake is one of my favorite Higurashi and WTC moments of all time??????????
It's so fucking satisfying as much as it's really interesting.
Like, going back to Satokowashi after Satoko gained looping powers. She started viewing fragments as dispensable because there's always another fragment. She writes off every world except the final one as a mere delusion. They're not any different from "dreams" to her. Those are dissociative tendencies. She's dissociating by detaching herself from emotions such as guilt and empathy because it makes things easier to deal with. It's a trauma response and it's innately connected to her PTSD. She's always struggled with maintaining a consistent internal reality, and she's always thought it's no use trusting and relying on others and that it's best to shut off one's mind to get through traumatic events. It's also why when she blames St. Lucia, she blames Rika. And when she does horrible things to her friends it's excusable in her mind because everything is rotten and untrustworthy anyway.
She's clinging to the ideal of a perfect, happy final world because it's what she craves after what she went through at St. Lucia where she was tormented and had no emotional support, but if she comes to the realization that she's really hurting others by doing this she's going to fall apart. And isn't this reformed Teppei, a change in Satoko's lived reality that she herself said was inconceivable to her, the biggest threat to this maladaptive coping mechanism?
Satoko killing Teppei is basically all the bottled in rage and fury and the dissociation from any part of her world being real. She kills him with her own hands then bludgeons his corpse and it speaks to the idea of rejecting a love that doesn't exist and rejecting others to avoid rejection. Satoko destroys the Satoko of that fragment through killing a Teppei that never existed for her, one that was never even meant to, which is why she defiles and vilifies him so aggressively and thoroughly. The Teppei she knows would never do this so she rejects him as well as the part of her self that tried to embrace that. The Satoko that doesn't want to kill Teppei is just a new self formed outside of her original intent because it's just a theory/fantasy instead of reality as none of this was ever real in Satoko's world. Everything has already happened for our Satoko. She is already the culmination of Teppei's abuse and that's something that cannot be changed. She cannot find it in herself to move past Teppei's abuse and the resentment therein.
I really enjoy Tatariakashi as a whole because it's Satoko writing a play where she manipulates everything in such a way so that Ooishi and the police would suspect and blame the protesting civilians, and in doing so it actually becomes a play where Hinamizawa becomes the very mob that did in fact affect her for years by ostracizing her and treating her as a cursed child.
It's Satoko's ultimate form of repayment for how long it took before any actions were taken in terms of trying to save her or just no longer treating her as a scapegoat. And I really enjoy the political angle of all this because it's a critique of the community that has always been failing Satoko, and it also acknowledges how Ooishi and the police perpetuate Satoko and her family's treatment as outcasts by treating them as a means to an end in their own plans.
It's also all about how Satoko prefers to cling to the known trauma over the unknown.
It's her revenge fantasy coming to a head because she kept growing more angry and detached. It's so good. Satoko is so good.

Look. I get that folks who are approaching the finale from this angle are usually doing so from a place of genuine good faith and love for Joel. But like. If your immediate reaction after finishing season 1 is to insist that the cure never could have been developed/distributed/tested/viable and that the Fireflies were stupid/naive/slapdicks/never could have accomplished it anyways, so Joel Definitely Did Nothing Wrong, I can’t help but feel like you’re wildly missing the point of it all.
Because like. Joel did not ever care if the cure could have worked. He did not care if it’s what Ellie might have wanted in that moment (neither did the fireflies of course, but they’re not the ones who traveled by her side, protected her, made her feel safe and cared about). Neither of these were ever a point of consideration in the finale. Ellie’s death and the resultant hypothetical cure could have had a guaranteed 100% success rate. It could have spread instantly, around the world the moment they removed her brain from her skull, turning every single runner, clicker, and bloater back to a healthy human being, with no deleterious side effect.
And Joel still would have shot that doctor point blank in the face.
Because that moment right there, is the point. To me at least. It’s the climax that the whole story has been building towards: a father’s beautiful, selfish decision to save his daughter at the literal cost of the entire world. And not just the world in an abstract sense, but in ways that carry weight to him on a deeply personal level. Tess’ dying wish. A real future for his niece or nephew. Ellie’s own agency in all of this. And he did it without hesitating for a moment.
Going from treating Ellie like cargo, like a clicker waiting to happen, to deciding that her life is more important to him than than any other human being who was or ever will be born? Regardless of whether it’s “““healthy”””, that’s an incredible fucking relationship arc. And it only has this level of gravity and meaning if there are genuine consequences to making that decision.
(And let me be clear here: none of this is a moral indictment of Joel. Joel’s motivations, actions, decisions etc. are all incredibly blatant, human, and relatable, and if he’d done anything but go on that rampage, it would have contradicted everything we know and understand about him so far. Also, he’s fucking fictional. Who gives a shit if he did a Kinda Amoral Thing. None of it is real, and it doesn’t matter)
The argument here isn’t that Fireflies Good And Smart And Can Totally Save The World For Sure Guys, or Joel Did Objectively Bad Thing And Is Unforgivable Bad Forever Now. The argument is that the show is much more interesting and internally consistent if you buy into the idea that there’s a chance, even a slim one, that the fireflies could have extracted a viable vaccine at the terrible cost of a fourteen year old girl’s life. That maybe Joel did prevent a cure from being made – that he potentially did doom the world for Ellie (or at least doomed it to another few decades of limping painfully by until something else came along). And that despite the cost, he pulled that trigger, brutally and without hesitation. He did it knowing that he’ll have to go on living with the knowledge of what he took from everyone, and how effortless it was to make that choice in spite of it all. That he’ll willingly betray Ellie’s trust as many times as he has to if it means keeping her from taking the burden of that guilt on herself, but also because he can’t bear the thought of her hating him if she learned the truth. And most of all (and in his own words), that if he was given the chance to go back and do it again, he would have made the exact same choice all over.
You take that out, and what kinda finale do you get now? A run and gun scene of a man rescuing a girl that he’s come to love, sure, but now it’s from a bunch of one dimensional, child murdering villains, set in a place they never had to go to, preceded by a journey that was rendered useless before they even left, all because there was never any chance of it working in the first place. Pointless roundabout cynicism, and an endpoint that now textually only existed to stick the protagonists in their get along sweater.
You don’t have to agree with this specific interpretation of the ending. I get that this can come across as a harsh reading of Joel, especially since he’s a character that myself and others genuinely like a lot. But that nitpicky fixation on proving that the cure never could have worked always felt more for the benefit of the uncomfortable player/viewer than as any sort of actual narrative improvement. A way to divest yourself of ever having to sit with the weight of either choice. Of having to think about the way that a secret so massive, sitting unspoken between you and a loved one, can rot that relationship. Of the way that someone you thought you trusted can act in your best interests, but against your own wishes.
And if that’s not what you want from the show, genuinely and without judgment: that’s fine. You keep doing you. I’m just not sure why you’re watching something like tlou otherwise.

edit: i decided this would drive me nuts, but i still want to keep it in case there's something worth salvaging in the future. ignore all of this ^_^
for some reason i'm interested the idea of poke!ren beginning our friendship with that like... unintentional infantilization a lot of people do with disabled people when they're trying not to be actively ableist? not because i enjoy that LMAO ABSOLUTELY NOT -- and my pokesona is prideful as hell and would DESPISE it -- but i think it would make sense.
[cw casual ableism, infantilism of disabled ppl. also, disclaimer: i'm basing some of this loosely on my own health issues so it may not 100% apply to all disabled people. just want to keep that straight LMAO.]
most many doctors are SUPREMELY ableist, but doc!ren went into his field SPECIFICALLY to help disabled people and so focused on how best to treat each individual person according to their personalities and disabilities. sure, poke!ren's also technically both a clinical doc and researcher, but if doc!ren is like 80% clinical 20% research, poke!ren is like 10% clinical 90% research.
so poke!ren... doesn't have that knowledge. he does mostly field work and some lab work, with the rare "what do you think about this specific medical case?" appointment. he's the kind of person who hates the more vocal brands of ableism, but is consistently overbearing with his treatment of disabled people in a way that's inadvertently exhausting to deal with because "what happens if i tell him this is also ableist? will he have a fit? will he get angry or upset? will he decide disabled people are too picky if i'm not the Perfect Disabled Little Meow Meow?" so you just end up suffering through it.
therefore, he goes full "paper skin, glass bones," with me, very, "oh i can get that for you! no don't stand up, i can do that. can i cook something for you? no no no, i mean, i know you COULD, but wouldn't it be /easier/ for me to make it for you? you might hurt yourself!". 🙄
we have an evening outing in another city. it gets dark, we're not at the point where we're comfortable staying at his place together, he offers to maybe help me find a hotel, and i say "nope i've got this!" and fly away home on a Fucking Lugia.
and then he has to sit with that and realize some things.
like the fact that he has no idea who the fuck i am beyond surface level. after all, i've been carrying a legendary bird around in my back pocket and he didn't know until now, months after we first met.
like the fact that i can take care of SOME things by myself with the right "tools" or pkmn. i SOMETIMES need help, but i don't ALWAYS need help, and if i DO need help i have the option to tell him myself.
like the fact that he simply saw me as Disabled. as though i didn't have a life before or outside of Disability. i was simply the pitiable, lonely, disabled vn nerd he talks about games with.
and then he has to relearn Me from square one, and it makes our relationship so much stronger. we're able to work on our perfect balance together and build the trust that HE won't take things over for ME when I'M capable of something, and that I will let HIM know when i need HIM to do something I can't do. he has to trust that i'll let him be more doting on the days when i'm having flare-ups, but simultaneously has to respect when there are things i still want to do myself even on those worst days.
.........idk. this is a lot of words to say "god i want to be taken care of, but in a way where the other person sees me as an adult with a personality and decision-making ability and a life that's deeply AFFECTED by disability in many ways but isn't JUST disability." yk?
tbch, after writing it all out, this maaaay end up as canon..... OR it might remain a theoretical offshoot depending on how comfy i am when the Mental Movies (tm) of us finding that trust come together. poke!ren's supposed to be like. PURE escapism, so something like this honestly might hit too close to home to feel good fdhfghfg. like at least he'd end up learning that balance, which is nice... but everything leading up to it? 😬 Maybe A Bit Too Painful....
(damn. verbose king over here, wrote all of this TWICE just to say "i might throw it out" lKNMADKJFNKJDNF)

James’ mind begins racing a mile a minute as Eggs’ question puts the situation into the words they had yet to say out loud.
He hadn’t been able to think it over. Mike and Scott only requested he carry them into the office for an emergency, and he wasn’t going to demand details when his help was clearly needed. And once he spotted Jeremy before the young man began running, any question of what and how was put on pause until their newest colleague was safe.
Now Mike has a firm hand keeping Jeremy from racing away again at the sight of another giant. James’ hand is close by to gently snag him if he escapes, though it’s preferred grabbing continues to be unnecessary.
So with Jeremy safe and now two giants knowledgeable of what occurred, that allows him to properly mull over Eggs’ extremely concerning question. Who can shrink a giant?
That in itself seems impossible. Just a few weeks ago he was handing Mike over to Jeremy. How is it possible that same person can now sit in James’ hand to be passed to Eggs. That same curly haired night guard couldn’t be so small two fingers can snatch him up.
Yet he could distinctly feel the miniscule form slamming against his hand. If he nudged Jeremy, there will be a reaction. This is real.
One name suddenly comes to mind. James might act oblivious after properly meeting Vincent and therefore understand just what his employer is capable of. He still only trusts Scott to an extremely small degree due to being aware how much the man responsible for his job at Fazbear’s is pinned under a thumb. But when it comes to the ‘impossible’, William is the only likely candidate.
That meant Scott was most likely aware and had failed to warn them of this possibility.
James takes a deep breath as anger begins to rise. Because now is not the time. He’ll pull the older man off to the side to discuss withholding such crucial information once it’s appropriate. Right now they need to make sure Jeremy feels safe as well as figure out how this occurred.
The first part might be a little hard. The only person who’s consistently seen the giant night guard is Mike. Good for having someone who knows what it’s like to be handheld. Bad when the necessary assisting hand of a giant is coming from those he’s not completely familiar with.
“That’s Jeremy, right?” Eggs asks as he walks closer.
Mike sets his hands on Jeremy’s shoulders to keep him seated, the man laughing when his action has a squeak emit. “I-I-It's not f-funny!”
“Fuck yeah it is. You’re now a goddamn mouse, Jerber.”
“N-N-No!”
“You have to admit he’s right,” Eggs grins as he kneels beside James, his voice as quiet as when Caleb was in their midst. “Squeaking and handheld? I’d say that’s a dead ringer.”
The doctor watches as an unhappy look is given at the comment, but the shrunken giant doesn’t attempt to defend himself. Possibly not wanting to upset someone who has a literal upper hand over him. Or the fact Mike started the teasing.
Or, because the blond’s a predator. And it would be easy to assume he’s being talked about in a way that implies Eggs will hunt him down to eat.
James then pulls his hand away slowly as to not startle their coworker. He’s watched with trepidation, but there’s a distinct slump of the shoulders once his palm isn’t looming over him anymore.
“Can you tell us what happened, Jeremy?”
The doctor patiently waits as his eyes are met before the smaller is quickly looking away as he takes a deep breath. “It just h-h-happened s-s-so suddenly. I-I was next t-t-to th-the desk, and th-then it felt like I-I-I-I was f-falling, a-and I landed b-b-by the phone.”
That sounds terrifying. Suddenly shrinking and not knowing what was happening. It would’ve been worse if Jeremy ended up on the ground. How long it would’ve taken someone to find him. Possibly the wrong person, and this time no one would know to search for him like with Scott and David.
He realizes Eggs is thinking the same thing with the blond tensing at the story. One shared glance and it’s clear James won’t be fought if he carries the three to the platform, but there will be a closely hovering shadow the entire time.
He will admit he’s legitimately curious if Jeremy being human is making Eggs’ instincts go a little berserk. If their shrunken coworker is a true human just because of his size, or if there are a few differences.
And on top of that, he really wants to ask Jeremy what he thinks about this new perspective and compare it to how Caleb was describing his first time interacting with giant objects.
Another time. After interrogating Scott. “Are you hurt? From the initial shrinking or from the collision with my hand?”
“N-No. Just...sc-scared,” Jeremy admits, almost too quietly to be heard.
James looks over to see Scott pocketing his phone, not having noticed him texting earlier. But the look on his face once he’s finished and the one sent up toward the doctor say they both have something to discuss with the other.
“What do you think about us getting you to the human section, and we’ll try and find out what caused this?”
“Y-Y-You w-won't get shrunk t-too, r-r-right?” Jeremy asks, suddenly concerned at the thought of them also ending up only a few inches tall.
James looks over at Eggs who pats himself down. “I haven’t lost any height. And I don’t feel like I’m falling.”
“We’ll be careful,” the doctor promises.
Finally Jeremy nods his head. Then flinches so harshly be bumps into Mike when James sets a hand palm up on the desk. Before he can apologize for accidentally scaring the smaller, Mike removes his hands in order to squat down and force Jeremy to look at him instead. “Does your ass want Grave Digger, or Jackass?”
Eggs waves at the confused expression to clarify the nickname. Something that has Jeremy shaking his head quickly.
“J-James.”
“You fucking walking on, or you want goddamn help?”
Neither him nor Eggs comment on the question. There’s no telling how they themselves would react to suddenly becoming human sized and forced to walk onto a hand in order to get somewhere safe. James is more than willing to be patient.
Jeremy’s wide eyes say it’s dawning on him just how vulnerable he is. And with Mike no longer holding him in one spot, the shrunken giant is able to stumble to his feet as he backs further away. “Actually, aren’t th-there st-stairs? W-W-W-We could just-”
James saw it coming, but Jeremy’s left too surprised to make a single sound when Mike takes it upon himself to toss the shorter over his shoulder. By the time it processes they’re already making their way closer. “Coming Phone Guy?”
“W-W-WAIT!”
“Michael!”
“If I do shrink,” Eggs whispers. “I don’t want Mike to be my guide.”
That earns him a middle finger as Mike walks onto James’ hand, Jeremy struggling the entire time. As soon as it’s realized they’re no longer standing on solid ground it turns into holding onto Mike as tightly as possible. Scott quickly follows on with a long sigh.
“Jeremy are you okay?”
“F-F-F-Fine!”
James raises his eyebrows in a question if he would like to proceed. Scott only shrugs. Mike gives a thumbs up. Jeremy’s eyes are squeezed shut tightly.
“Tell me if I need to stop at any time.”
Eggs quickly stands up to give him an open path. Truthfully, he appreciates the mechanic’s presence. If there’s any other waiters who come in he’ll be able to act as a barrier. Unfortunately they won’t have Fritz’s support until this afternoon, but hopefully Jeremy will be a proper giant before then even if the redhead would be disappointed for missing someone being shrunk.
The walk is uneventful to the platform. He goes slower than usual to not upset Mike’s balance, but their veteran night guard is able to stand without tossing Jeremy down into his palm. Eggs stays by his side watching for anyone assigned to clock in before the doors open.
No one comes. James sets his hand down for Mike to walk off and allow Jeremy to stand on his own two feet again. “Thanks for you goddamn help, Grave Digger.”
“Th-Th-Thank you.”
“Of course,” James says. “Are you sure you feel okay?”
Jeremy nods his head as he moves closer to the elevator. “I-I-I'm okay. I just...n-n-need some time.”
To be around things his size. To not be in the open where a giant can grab him. To not think about how long this will last and if he’ll need to be carried around by such a larger being again.
James has to not insist he examines Jeremy from head to toe. Not because he’s worried there was true damage from bouncing off his hand or suddenly shrinking, but purely for the selfish reason of confirming this is real. He knows it is, and yet he wants to hold the young man in a fist before handing him to Eggs and say with certainty his coworker is inexplicably human.
Scott then finally walks off his hand to wave everyone off. “Mike, take Jeremy down and get him something to eat. If David asks, let him know I’ll be down in a few. Eggs, would you mind checking the office for anything?”
Jeremy looks happy to be dismissed to go to the human section. Mike nods in agreement along with Eggs.
“I’ll see if I can find anything.”
“See you in a fucking few, Phone Guy.”
James crosses his arms the second him and Scott are alone. “What did you know.”
“Don’t rumble at me,” the older man snaps. “I understand you’re upset and think I could’ve done something to stop it, but it’s a little more complicated.”
“That I understand,” James murmurs, making his effort to keep his tone even. “But I thought we agreed you would try to warn us.”
“In my defense his attempt to shrink Vincent didn’t work.”
“And yet Jeremy’s now smaller than my fingers.”
“I can’t just tell you everything!” Scott exclaims, and he suddenly looks a lot more tired as his anger becomes evident. “I don’t expect you to trust me when it comes to Afton, but I am trying my hardest to keep you out of harm’s way. If I told you he’s trying to shrink giants, it would’ve been worse. I’m not asking you to trust me. I’m asking you to realize we’re on the same team.”
James takes a deep breath. “I didn’t mean to come off as if I was attacking you.”
Because he isn’t. He’s upset someone Scott trusted him to care for if Jeremy ever gets hurt had been infected with something they don’t know, in a way they’re unsure of, and now Eggs is possibly in danger because he is at the location such an anomaly occurred.
He doesn’t want to attack. He wants it to be clear they need to work together if they are going to ensure more children aren’t-
James’ eyes widen as he suddenly feels like he’s about to tip over and fall. Yet he hasn’t done anything to warrant such a feeling
“Scott.”
The human’s glare vanishes into one of terror. “Get to the door!”
That’s all he can hear before the ground’s rising up to meet him and James isn’t quick enough to try and catch himself. He falls onto his side, immediately attempting to get as close to the wall that rises more than a hundred feet above his head.
Fear grips him as he stares at the miles upon miles of open space before him. With tables that could be skyscrapers in the distance he knows cast shadows big enough to take a full minute to walk through. Completely alone where giants step without so much as a glance down.
That’s when he jumps to his feet before sprinting as fast as possible to where the floor level door is, hoping someone doesn’t walk in at the wrong moment.

This is going to be a long post, and probably all over the place, but I've been really fixated on Roy and Nate as parallels and contrasts to one another, and I have a lot of thoughts.
This rant is particularly going to be about the ways in which Nate and Roy's masculinity presents, how both of them are men with severe insecurities that manifest in different ways, as well as the ways in which Nate's jealousy of Roy contributes to his arc.
When I first saw Ted Lasso, I initially interpreted Nate's arc as being a combination of toxic masculinity merging with the fact that Twitter is fucking poison for your brain. I do think that's part of it, but I think there's a lot more to it as well. With that being said, that's as good a place as any to start.
In my mind, Nate is essentially the embodiment of toxic fragile masculinity, where Roy is more representative of (mostly) non-toxic strong masculinity. Roy's insecurities are not particularly focused on his masculinity. He doesn't care about Keeley gossiping about him until he realizes she's been talking about something he's insecure about, and he hangs out with older women and drag queens, without any worries about how that reflects on him as a man. Roy's insecurities revolve much more around the end of his career and not knowing who he is as a person, with a healthy dose of wondering if he's a bad person or fundamentally unlovable. Roy is masculine in a very traditional kind of way. However, he uses that masculinity to help other people (for example, both Sam and Nate in S1), unlike Nate, who, particularly in S2 onward, comes across as less masculine and more bully.
Roy is also more internal and self destructive, while Nate is more external and lashes out at others as a result of his insecurities.
To continue along thought, I think it's important to note that Roy has always been a big defender of Nate. It is made extremely clear that Roy has never been particularly fond of the way that people (notably Jamie, Isaac and Colin) treat Nate in S1, but it goes beyond that. Roy is also shown to consistently go out of his way to acknowledge, congratulate, and give Nate credit for things, even after he's come on as a coach in S2. All throughout S2, there are a number of different moments where Roy will go to Nate to hug or cheer with him, Roy acknowledges Nate with a little head nod when he comes back on as a coach in 2x5, as well as several verbal scenes (Roy going to Nate's office to congratulate him on his park the bus play, Roy telling Rebecca "This has nothing to do with me, this was all Nate", etc).
A bit of an aside, but this also seems like a testament to the fact that Roy isn't big on grudges, because despite all the reasons he should be disgruntled, he's still more than okay with letting Nate come back to Richmond in S3. "I don't give a fuck. He's great at the shit I suck at." Even after all the fallout, Roy is still acknowledging that Nate is smart, someone he would be willing to work with, and a significant asset to the team.
Roy has always been a big Nate defender, so it hurts that Nate doesn't even seem to see it, particularly into S2, when he has been given more power. Obviously, he does acknowledge and thank Roy in 1x4, but after that point he doesn't seem to think about it much. I think that Nate is essentially blinded by his jealousy of Roy, to the point that he is unable to see his true intentions, because he so desperately wants to be him, or at least be like him.
In 2x5, when Nate is at A Taste of Athens, he laughs at something that Roy says during his pundit stint. He laughs at Roy tearing into Cartrick, specifically when he makes a comment about him pissing his pants. However, it's important to note that Roy was so aggressive in that scene in direct response to Cartrick being overtly sexist, which doesn't seem to be something that Nate particularly acknowledges. I don’t think that Nate agrees with Cartrick by any means, but I also don’t know if it really plays into why he thinks that interaction is funny.
Nate definitely feels personally attacked by Roy's coming back as a coach. This is probably due in part to the fact that he comes back after Ted essentially laughs at him and tells him that he doesn't think that he can help Isaac through his mental block, but that he thinks that Roy can. His insecurities are made worse by being next to Roy, as he feels as though he needs to prove himself.
I think this is supported by the fact that Nate also gets a lot more verbally aggressive after Roy's back, though he was making slow progress in that direction anyways. In some ways it almost feels like he's trying to copy Roy, to compete with him and embody him.
Because of this, I also want to briefly mention the scene where Nate kisses Keeley. I think it is implied throughout the show, as early as S1, that Nate has always liked her, at least a little bit. Keeley is casually touchy and affectionate as a person, and Nate could have interpreted those signals as her (possibly) being into him. Though he clearly regrets kissing her, in the leadup to that scene, he also laughs at Keeley's impression of Roy, where she's gently making fun of him. I think that it could have boosted his ego a bit to hear Roy being put down. I think his jealousy could have combined with that ego boost and played into that scene.
Another thing to mention is the fact that Roy is not particularly threatened by Nate kissing Keeley, where he is threatened by Jamie telling Keeley that he loves her.
Nate is upset about that because he thinks that Roy should be more mad at him, because he is a threat damnit, but I also wonder how much of Roy not being threatened is that he also somewhat considers Nate to be a friend. Though I don't think that Roy is threatened by him, I think it's also clear that he does like Nate, and even respects him. (I think there's also something to be said about the fact that Roy is more threatened by Jamie, not because he's more of a man than Nate, but because he and Keeley have a history, but that's a whole other tangent that I won't go on today).
I think that's all I have to say on the topic for now; sorry if this post didn't make any sense, I mostly wrote it out to try and organize my own thoughts. If someone else gets something out of it, that would be a great bonus.

I know none of you like this show, but here’s more The Impossible Heir ramblings [spoilers ahead] because I do like it:
SO, I liked The Impossible Heir at first because I was queerbaited (lol), the main leads were all hot, and it had an ~eat the rich~ vibe.
Some shenanigans happened here and there that I didn’t love but I just attributed it to the writing and looked the other way. I’m willing to suspend my belief for entertainment and sometimes just want to turn off my brain. Mainly I was rooting for the main three characters and their plan.
WITH THAT BEING SAID: now that one of the main characters is a certified murderer, I’m rooting for the other two to continue their mission to eat the rich. Full stop. Fuck Inha. And if we’re being honest it was always Fuck Inha.
It is here however that I am having some trouble looking the other way. My brain will not turn off—this is directed towards the writers and the audience.
To the writers: asdfghjjk.
My main gripe is Inha. He was always characterized as arrogant. He picks a fight in school with multiple classmates in episode 1/2. He refers to his father as a God, and how that makes him more important than other people in society. He’s frustrated that his family won’t let him live up to his own potential. Because of this characterization, it’s not a shock that he has turned into a power-hungry person who is coming for the chairman’s position. In fact, this feels pretty consistent with the character; it was the plan he made with Taeoh all along.
I suppose that he turned on Taeoh, however, was supposed to be the twist. I’m having trouble with that because it feels consistent with how rich people are lol. Since I’m watching this through a Marxist lens (lol) his position in society was never far out of my mind. I wish that the writers kept his emotional characterization a little more consistent and treated his reach for power less like a revelation. Specifically, in the early episodes he was funny, dramatic, and comic relief. Now his facial expressions are all angry and aggressive. I’m guessing it’s because the show just revealed that he’s a murderer and abusive and now they’re trying to sell it to us. I think those choices would have hit harder if he was still funny, dramatic, “comic” relief through them! This is always who he’s been. It’s just now that he’s come within grasp of his power that he’s able to throw away his friends from a lower economic class. He’s finished using them. It’s a harder pill to swallow if the person who’s acting like a friend is actually fucking you over. I think that might be a more fun viewing experience and convey a more compelling message.
For this same reason (the idea that this was always who Inha was) I wish the writers didn’t treat the murder and abuse as a mystery. We saw cutaways of phone calls being made, and photographs being taken and feet in a hazy memory. When it’s revealed that Inha the one who called Hyewon’s mother, who killed his own brother, who set up his friend, it’s supposed to be a shock. I just don’t feel shocked that he would stoop this low. This would have been better for me if the story being told was that rich people are always going to be rich people. They shouldn’t be trusted.
To the audience: you know you hate women right?
I shouldn’t be surprised but here I am. I am going to quote my own post and reiterate: Taeoh and Hyewon were neighbors growing up. They’ve Seen each other with a capital S. They relate to one another and understand one another’s drive. The reason Hyewon says she’s too busy to date early on is the same reason Taeoh doesn’t pursue her. They individually have long term visions.
They are parallels in my opinion. They’re kind of the same person AND THEYRE BOTH EMOTIONLESS FOR THE RECORD. And it’s fine! Or at least it would be fine except you people hate women because they don’t smile at you. Or worse because a fictional character you’re crushing on likes her. I keep seeing comments like “why does he like her?” and you sound bitter tbh. Also I’ve seen comments where you think just Hyewon was using Inha. What?? They literally all say they’re using each other. You know what makes Taeoh and Hyewon different?? They haven’t sent their spouse’s abusive parent to harass said spouse. They haven’t assaulted their spouse. They haven’t killed anyone. They haven’t framed anyone for murder. They haven’t tried to get someone the death penalty. But you know who has? Inha. And Inha deserves to get used for the record. I hope the show ends with her as the owner of Kangoh tbh. Now that would be fun.

I'm really, really in love with the way Servamp does lawless's conflict resolution with his feelings towards Ophelia. Seeking out Eves which reminded him of her visually, the way he used those Eves to hurt himself and reinforce the unhealthy world view he held, the way the person he was angry at all along was himself, and how his inability to forgive his own actions, to confront that he made the wrong choice, is given in parallel to Kuro's own struggles with killing Germaine and his feelings about that, the way that Licht is not a replacement for Ophelia but consistently, without fail, shown to be precious to Lawless in a way completely separate to Lawless's complicated feelings towards Ophelia and her decisions…
like it would have been sooo easy to write Licht "curing" Lawless, or to make Ophelia out to be a villain in Lawless's story, the girl who is vilified because she never returned his love in the way that he wanted, but never ever ever does this happen
There's no cheesy comparison of "you're like her," no visual similarities, even their personalities are different to a T, and Lawless cherishes them both as individuals so fucking much
even in the place Licht occupies in Lawless's life, that part of his heart he resides in, there's nothing to indicate that Lawless will ever stop loving Ophelia or holding her as special, and I really super love it because way too often stories Do That. The bereaved aren't allowed to hold on to their grief and the love it's born from. they have to Move On and by Move On the author means to forget and stop caring, but people don't work like that, and a relationship built on trying to replace the place another person occupied in your life is doomed to failure.
Lawless's name, The One and Only, isn't about him and never has been
It's been about how he treats others when he's at his best self
Hell, even at his lowest point, contrary to what he says, his actions belie the truth
Individuals are unique beings worthy of remembrance, and being Greed, he will hold the memories of the people who have entered and exited his life like a treasure to be hoarded, and never let it go
And then there's the way LawKuro have the same issue presented in completely different ways, and the way the core of this arc is confronting the things that frighten you, of accepting that you were wrong and it's okay to regret that but you cannot allow it to consume you
That you would have made a different decision if you didn't try so hard to justify yourself as correct, if you were a little more selfish in how you went about things, and I think all of us have made choices we regretted because we wanted to make someone we loved happy or we felt we had no other option because of some obligation or other, and then we let those feelings fester, and how good does it feel when we finally accept that we made wrong choices?
It's hard to swallow and it hurts and it's almost impossible to do when the only one you have to hold yourself accountable is yourself
I love that even thought Licht and Mahiru are the ones getting in their Servamp's faces, the only thing they're really doing is just… Refusing to let them run away from that accountability anymore
In the end, the choice to heal is one only their Servamps can make
They can prop them up and give them tools and be a shoulder to lean on, but they can't decide for them whether what they did is correct or not
Lawless and Kuro have already, deep down, decided that truth for themselves
