Daichi

He always lets you lay on his chest while you both catch your breath, and gives you a few moments before he asks how you’re feeling. He’s big on being vocal with you after to make sure you’re in a good headspace and usually ends up chatting about stuff with you mindlessly while he’s rubbing your back until you fall asleep. He tends to talk about his upcoming plans and things he’s dreading in the week to come while his low voice just lulls you to sleep. Also always has a glass of water for you after hehehehehe

Oikawa

Ok he gets very emotional afterwards. He’s not super transparent with his feelings always, but there’s something about that moment after you two just finished and your breathing heavy that it always hits him how much you mean to him. He’s very cuddly and attentive, making sure he’s doing anything he can to attend to your needs, but afterwards he just wants to be close with you. He really appreciates it if you play with his hair and let him rest his head on your chest. It’s also not unusual for him to tear up a little while he caresses your face and mutters how much you mean to him. what a little baby <3

Bokuto

I’m so sorry but it’s so hard for him to stay awake after :(((. Baby is holding you so tight against him in a bone crushing grasp and is out within 3 minutes. He just gets so clingy and feels so emotionally vulnerable and close to you after that he doesn’t want you anywhere but in his arms. He’ll try to stay up with you if you’re up after but he just can’t mans always putting in work too ok the only coherent thing you can get out of him after is usually a string of, “I love you”s and all kinds of compliments. But like I said he’s very sleepy so sometimes they don’t always make sense, “yer s’good at drivin babe.” Then he’s out. A little bit of a drooler which means it’s not uncommon for you to wake up with some of his drool on your shoulder or in your neck since he loves to bury his face there, too. Really just a big big teddy bear :,(.

Kuroo

Snack drawer? Snack drawer. He has a little snack drawer in the nightstand at his bedside that is optimal for after sex - he also has your faves stocked if you’re a big snacker too (regardless of whether or not it’s for after sex). I feel like he also loves to talk like Daichi but it ends up being more silly. The usual scene is him leaning up against his headboard shirtless while he rants about something he heard the other day that he forgot to mention to you. Also loves feeding you snacks while he talks, all you have to do is open your mouth and make a little noise and he knows what’s going down. Regarding snacks he specifically loves any kinda sour candy after - it’s actually kinda cute the way he scrunches his face up after he pops a war head into his mouth while you update him on your most recent friend drama, and he’s doing his best to hum along and act like the sourness isn’t affecting him.

Kita

So so so so so many light kisses. As soon as you guys come down from your highs he’s kissing your temple, the top of your head, your cheek, any bit of your face he can reach he’s leaving the most gentle kisses there. Same with your shoulders and back - any exposed skin he can get at really. If you giggle or groan he’s giggling and pulling away so he can get some stuff to clean the two of you up. His favorite is being able to shower with you after if you’re down, if not he does still shower on his own. If he comes back to find you asleep he just cuddles into you instead of moving you into his side so he doesn’t disturb you. Also has water ready for you after, a hydrated king.

Ushijima

Oh he’s literally such a softie. He’s immediately carrying you - it does not matter how big you are he’s doing it, he’ll be damned if you walk - to the bathroom so he can clean both of you up. And you bet your ass he’s gonna be carrying you back to bed so he can then go to the kitchen and get you anything you need. I don’t see him as someone who is super sleepy after so he’ll probably cuddle you on the couch (he doesn’t have a TV in his room cause he says watching TV in bed isn’t good for your sleep schedule and brain or whatever) and put something on that either the two of you can watch together or something to mindlessly play while you fall asleep in his arms. Even though he just ends up falling asleep with you most of the time anyways hehehehe

Okay Anon, so i saw this the other day and I wasn't in the right headspace to answer but i am now!

So to start off, I am firmly in the ship and let ship category. You like a ship, i don't care. That doesn't mean i won't rag on the ship itself but I don't send hate, I don't really engage with shippers from ships I don't like, and I am liberal with the block button and the blacklist feature. Cultivate your tumblr/online experience, y'all. You don't owe anyone on this hellsite (or any other) a damn thing.

However, I REALLY do hate d*rklina as a ship, and I have a big problem with the way the shippers talk about it, so I hope you were being serious about wanting a rant because here it goes.

As for the ship itself, i feel like the reasons I dislike it are pretty obvious and standard. It's abusive. He is her abuser. He manipulates her. He spends months grooming her and gaslighting her, intentionally trying to get her under his control so that when he literally enslaves her it will go over easier. He never actually loved her, he wanted to use her for her power. It's not complicated, it's not really 'up for debate', that is the way its written, and the author has explained that that was the intended interpretation of her work. I mean he literally sexually assaults her in the second book, and straight up tells her he's going to kill everyone she loves so that she has no choice but to fall to him because she is completely alone in the world. He threatens to skin her alive in the second book when they're on the boat, he has no problem torturing her to get Mal to do what he wants. That's not love. He does not love her. It's pretty black and white, its explicitly written as an abusive relationship. The point was to show how easily powerful men can manipulate and abuse young naive women who don't know any better and try to see the best in people. Alina 'fell' for the version of Darkles Sparkles that he intentionally created to try to control her. Nothing he told her was true, from his backstory, to them both being 'the only one like [each other]' (hello, baghra), to using Genya to convince Alina that Mal had abandoned her, everything he did was manipulation so that he could get her under his control. It is not a romance, it is not 'a ship war', d*rklina is not written as romantic. He is her abuser. Full stop.

There is also the point about him being just a generally horrible person all around. He's not morally grey. He just isn't. He sold an 11 year old into sex slavery, forced her to stay in that situation so he could use her, and then mutilated her when she defied him. He also groomed and abused Zoya, because he saw that she was exceptionally powerful and wanted to use her the way he wanted to use Alina. He enslaved Alina. He blinded and mutilated his own mother. He is a genocidal maniac. He shows no remorse, he doesn't care about anyone but himself and his own power. He is not the type of character that should be romantically shipped with anyone. If you like him, that's absolutely fine! One of my fave characters ever is Kai Parker from TVD. Dude was a straight up psychopath. He tried to kill multiple pairs of toddlers. He brutally murdered his pregnant sister AT HER WEDDING. He is a HORRIBLE person. But I think he's a brilliant character. But do I think he's a good guy, do I want him anywhere near any characters in that show in a romantic way (ehem b*nkai)? Absolutely fucking not. Being a fan of a villain character is fine, but fucking own that shit. Villains can be SUCH good characters, but they're still villains. Erasing the bad they've done so you can justify putting them in situations where they WILL harm the people around them because you can't level with yourself about the bad things they've done doesn't make you 'woke', it just makes you look like you don't understand the media you're consuming.

Which leads me to why I have such a problem with the way D*rklina shippers engage with the ship. They simultaneously wanna say "oh we know it's toxic/bad/abusive/etc., that's why we like it!" and then also they try to claim that it should be endgame, they romanticize scenes where he is abusing her (and by romanticize I mean they literally try to frame his abuse as romantic, not like "oh yeah my ship is interacting!!". those are different things. You can be excited about ship interactions without trying to say that things he is doing to her are actually romantic), they try to argue that he is morally grey/misunderstood/etc., and they straight up try to lie and say he's not her abuser.

If you wanna ship an abusive ship, own it. Be straight up about why you like it. It's okay to be into dark shit, y'all. It does NOT make you a bad person to be into dark shit. But this idea that fiction doesn't impact real life, and that people can't call the ship out for what it is is a problem is a very troubling trend in fandom. Nobody is saying you can't ship it, do what you want. But this idea that these people are 'oppressed' because fans of the show/book continue to point out the facts about the way the story was written and how the relationship is actually presented is fucking insane. Someone saying that D*rklina is abusive is not calling you out, they are stating a fact. It's the story as it was presented. You trying to say it's not makes it look like you have no reading comprehension. And this idea that 'well i'll be on the lookout for evil shadow wizards in real life lol' is such horse shit too. His shadow wizard powers aren't the issue. He is a powerful man who grooms and abuses young women. You're telling me you lived through the Me Too movement and you wanna act like thats not a real threat that young women face every day? You're telling me that you can't see that the actual real life connection you're supposed to be making here? Okay, well you should maybe deal with that and come back to me, because that's an issue.

Fiction is meant to teach us lessons. Darkles is meant to teach us something. He is meant to show us that sometimes, powerful men lie to, manipulate, groom, and abuse young women, and we should be aware of that. The story is about a young woman who is sucked into an abusive situation, and then she breaks free and in the end she is able to defeat her abuser. That is a really powerful story, and one that millions of real life women can relate too. To pretend that that story doesn't have real life connections makes you look insensitive and frankly, kind of cruel.

So basically, in the end, my biggest issue is that D*rklina shippers love to spout this nonsense about 'knowing' it's bad and that he's a villain, and 'that's why they like him', and then turn around and try to say that he's not actually the villain, he's not actually bad, and the things he does to Alina that are abuse are actually romantic and sweet. You wanna ship an abusive ship, you do you, but lets not pretend it's anything other than what it is, but romanticizing and normalizing abuse tactics so you can feel, what? morally superior? Cool? edgy and different? That has real life impacts. You are normalizing abuse. Real people will engage with that rhetoric, and it will make it difficult for them to see abuse when it happens to them or the people around them because they believe its romantic or normal to be treated that way.

You wanna be a villain stan? You wanna ship dark ships? Good on ya, but fucking own your shit, y'all.

sometimes I fear that Logan is becoming the Hermione of this fandom

elaboration under the cut. this will discuss the Harry Potter fandom, the sanders sides fandom, and some comparisons of my personal issues within them. there are some mentions of violence, abuse, bigotry, and death, and it is very long.

disclaimer: I love Harry Potter even if jk is a bigot, I love Hermione, I love sanders sides which fortunately is not created by a bigot, I love Logan, so there’s no intended negativity about any of these

now, back to the point. I repeat: I fear that Logan is becoming the Hermione of this fandom

which should be a good thing, because I love Logan and I love Hermione. being “the Hermione” shouldn’t be seen as something negative, but the reason I'm referring to it as that is:

there was a time where Fanon Hermione basically became, for a lack of a better term, a Mary Sue (I know this term can have problematic and misogynistic elements but I couldn’t find a better way to describe it)

lots of it was based on the movie adaption’s version of her. lots of her flaws were either stripped away or justified – she became more fearless and confident, her condescending attitude towards mainly Harry and (especially) Ron was exaggerated, and, again, seemed more justified here. and of course, it didn’t help that she was played by the gorgeous Emma Watson.

then came the fandom portrayal of her. while her movie counterpart was definitely more “perfectilized” (is that a word? now it is) than her book counterpart, she still had elements of being a teenager, and, well, a human. but on the internet, there were so many claims of her being the sole reason that Harry was alive, and that she was way out of Ron’s league, and lots of other stuff. if you’re in any way familiar with the Harry Potter fandom around... well, anywhere before like 2016, really, you probably know what I'm talking about. she was basically this “perfect does everything right keeps saying everyone the best at everything” kind of character. that was kinda annoying, both to people who didn’t care that much for Hermione as a character in the first place, and for the people who enjoyed her (more flawed and realistic) book counterpart

and don’t even get me started on the dr4m10ne shippers who claimed that “she deserves better than Ron (or Harry, or Neville, [heteronormativity was still a big thing back then] or really anyone who treated her with respect) and dr4c0 would be so much better for her!”

and oof, the “Hermione joins the dark side” au’s where her actions were still justified by the narratives (why would a muggleborn join the people that discriminate against her lol)

during the last few years, she’s gotten some backlash because of this. more potter heads started realizing her flaws, or stopped justifying them. the shocking realization that the fan favorite was not perfect made a large part of the fandom go in the opposite direction. which I understand.

now, I am still able to enjoy the (canon) character Hermione Granger, despite the sue-ification she went through (maybe it’s the autism that helps me not to get so affected by public opinion, idk), but not everyone is that lucky. so many potter heads had gotten a very good character ruined for them, which is sad.

I don’t want the same thing to happen to Logan Sanders.

Now, he wasn’t always one of the faves – in an early episode, he literally gets told that he’s the least popular character in the series (which does get played off as a joke, but I assume – I wasn’t in the fandom back then, so please correct me if I'm wrong – that for many fanders back then, that was very much the case) and I wouldn’t say he’s a “fan favorite” the same way that Hermione used to be.

however, he has by now gained quite a large fanbase here on Tumblr. which is great! I, myself, really enjoy Logan, and most of his fans are really cool.

but there are some stans who, in my opinion, have started to give him The Hermione Treatment. who claim that he is the one constantly helping Thomas. who feel the need to bash some of the other sides in order to prove that Logan is the best. the main complaint being that “they ignore/silence him too much”. and yes, they definitely don’t listen to him nearly as much as they could and should. I agree with that.

what I don’t agree with is when fanders start wishing for him to “snap” at the others. I'm putting “snap” in quotation marks, because what they usually mean is just him straight up verbally abusing them, sometimes being physically violent toward them. all because they... didn’t pay enough attention to him?

it gives me the same vibes as when Hermione’s acts of violence (I'm talking about, like, the bird attack toward Ron or the acne scars she forced on Marietta Edgecombe [another thing that got removed in the movie adaption], not the “fighting death eaters” parts) were considered “girl power” or something by the internet.

now, I'm not saying that Logan in canon is super aggressive and violent, but he definitely has his moments – and that’s fine. a character does not have to be nice 24/7. but the fandom seems to, idk, romanticize (for lack of a better word) these moments, his outbursts of anger and violence, both the canon and Fanon ones.

furthermore, there seems to be a double standard, in that lots of the things he’s praised for or that gets ignored about him, are the exact same things that would (or do) get criticized when other sides do it.

Patton gets flack for being controlling and guilt-tripping the others, which, yes, that is true, but Logan can also be controlling (Growing Up, Why Do We Get Out Of Bed In The Morning, arguably in Moving On too) and guilt-tripping (”not that any of you care, but I am unharmed” in Putting Others First)

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that fanders have started seeing the less perfect aspects of morality. Even cinnamon rolls can do not so nice things at times.

Roman is considered to be too proud and condescending, and yeah, he is, he is literally Thomas’ ego. But Logan? “I know I'm smarter than everyone else”? nuff said.

Virgil gets criticized for being too aggressive, and boy is that true, but again, you can not bash one character for a trait that you praise (or even wish more of) in another character.

now, I know that there are fanders who also give Virgil a free pass for violence etc. (he was the ultimate Fan Favorite for a very long time), but they seem to be fewer today than they used to be – which is great! it’s just sad that instead of disappearing completely, this character treatment has now moved towards Logan.

(funnily enough, these certain Logan Stans tend to be less critical of Janus’ and Remus’ flaws too, which I will cover later on)

no, I do not want Logan to be flawless, just like I don’t want Hermione to be. I just wish this double standard wasn’t so common in the fandom.

unlike with Hermione, however, the narrative (and the writers) doesn’t seem to favor him over the others – the sides get a relatively equal treatment in that way. but the biggest problem with Hermione was not the writing, or even the movie adaption (though that definitely played a factor too), but rather the fandom. the fandom was the one who claimed Hermione to be some perfect goddess, talented in every way, too good for this world, etc. And I really don’t want this to happen with Logan!

another parallel I'll bring up is the “going dark” thing, more specifically, “going dark because the light is not good enough for me”. I mentioned dr4m10ne earlier, and Hermione joining the death eaters because Harry and Ron and the rest of the “good guys” weren’t good enough. not smart or talented enough. didn’t appreciate her enough. because Ron would at times make fun of her nerdiness, because they sometimes bickered.

but for some reason, these dr4m10ne shippers and dark!Hermione Stans would gloss over the fact that Dr4c0 made fun of her heritage and that the death eaters literally fought for genocide of people like her (which, imo, is a bit more serious than “haha ur a nerd”)

similarly, it’s become common to head canon Logan “becoming a dark side”. now, I am in no way trying to imply that “the dark sides” are in any way similar to death eaters, or that Janus and Remus are anything like Dr4c0.

but there seems to be, yet again, a double standard. Patton, Roman, and Virgil ignore or silence or under appreciate Logan? oh yes, they definitely do.

but so do Janus and Remus. I see so many au’s of Logan joining the “dark sides” because they are more likely to listen to and appreciate him, which, if we go by canon... is not true? Janus literally excluded Logan from the courtroom, and Remus has repeatedly threatened and physically harmed Logan because he didn’t like what he was saying. but people gloss over that because ?????

I don’t really have a conclusion or anything, I just wanted to get this out

I've never thought Dagoth Ur was that interesting tbh

Dagoth Ur isn’t very blatantly in your face. You have to be kind of committed to digging around and putting together the puzzle yourself.

Honestly this is a case where I can see why some people might not have been as sucked in as I was because there is so much ambiguity to the writing that you’re half writing your own narrative.

But I’ll tell you how I experienced Dagoth Ur.

You don’t even know he exists at first. You’re just some dumb schmuck who got dumped off a boat and from that point you can do p much whatever. The game doesn’t make you go anywhere in particular.

So let’s say you’re supposed to run off to Balmora but you can’t read signs and you suck at taking directions. You just start walking as fast (not very) in any random direction as your little McNobody footsies can carry you and after several confused days of having no idea what you’re doing you’ll actually read your journal and approximately head in the right direction.

About a week later you’ll finally go to Balmora and accidentally talk to the right person starting the main quest (This was my first Morrowind experience). You’ll do a seemingly ordinary fetch quest, get hopelessly lost in a ruin, take six wrong turns, end up in Suran and then pay for public transit to take you back to Balmora. You’ll complete your quest and go to bed and as you’re snuggled down in your ratty bunk at the fighters guild you’ll have the first of six fucky nighmares.

Congrats, you just met Dagoth Ur! Or maybe it was just a bad dream, you don’t know, you’re still nobody and you put it from your mind and wander aimlessly for awhile. Oh hi there shirtless dude in the middle of the road, did a witch steal your shit too? As you approach he speaks in a voice that sounds like he’s been gargling tar and eating lit cigarettes

“ The Sixth House is risen and lord Dagoth is its glory “

k...k cool, this is some kind of weird cultist. Unsettling but not terribly dangerous you mosey on your way and run into a couple more of those, have a few more disturbing dreams, nothing major. But then you start finding sixth house bases and these ash statues are popping up everywhere. Smugglers are carrying them. Then you find the one in Ald’ruhn in some high ranking councilor’s house, and it’s a mess. Diseased creatures have straight up killed someone and there’s something really creepy about all of it. And those creatures, hard to believe they used to be people....awful disease this corpus, sure hope you don’t get it!

By now things are escalating, it’s harder to just ignore the presence of the sixth house and if you’re like me you want to learn more so you go and ask around, read up and do even more exploring. At this point we’ve only seen Dagoth Ur in dreams. We’ve never actually met him, but his influence is impossible to deny. Like a cancer the symptoms are just steadily getting worse and even if the game doesn’t hold you to it there’s the element of a ticking clock.

The quest to cure your disease puts you on the path to your destiny and this thing has gotten bigger than you ever thought it would. This journey has become personal now and you’re talking to living gods, Dagoth Ur is no longer just a boogey man haunting your nightmares, he’s become very real and everyone is terrified.

Dagoth Ur’s presence is felt and experienced and you never actually meet him until the very end of the game. But his influence creeps and spreads out. Disease and dreams are recurring themes for this character and they both fit. Like a disease the symptoms start small and people ignore them and then as they get worse you have people who will deny that they’re sick, letting it fester and worsen before they’re willing to admit something’s wrong (the temple). ti’s actually really nicely done and conveys a lot through atmosphere alone.

This slow burn way of building up a villain really works for me and I honestly missed it in other elder scrolls games. Alduin was so disappointing by comparison.

I can see how people can find Dagoth Ur uninteresting, but I honestly I love this character and he’s still one of my faves to just ponder about.

HAN AND LEIA, HAN AND LEIA, they are the BEST Star Wars trio that actually acts as a trio, like as much as I adore the prequel trio, they don’t actually trio on the level that Luke, Leia, and Han do. I love them so much, the Skytwins will forever be one of my all-time favorite SW dynamics, and HAN AND LUKE ARE THE ACTUAL BEST I LOVE THEIR BOND. Also, Luke and R2!!!!!! They’re the best disaster pair and I don’t blame R2 for liking Luke better than Anakin (I just had to watch Order 66 again today I like Luke and basically everyone better than Anakin too ;p) Also Luke and Yoda, their Master/Apprentice relationship is majorly sweet and was my second-favorite part of TLJ

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

Luke grew up in the desert for nineteen years, he never learned how to swim. Therefore, his first experience with water is a couple months after Yavin when the Rebellion is camped out on some water planet. He’s standing in front of some deep pool with Han and just admiring it when Han decides to have a little fun and push Luke in. Han does not know Luke cannot swim until he sees bubbles and Luke doesn’t pop right back up, upon which Chewie calls him an idiot and shoves him in after Luke. Leia is Not Amused, so thus starts Luke’s early morning swim lessons in ugly-ass vomit green wetsuits being taught by Han as punishment/penitence and Leia who wants to spend time with her new found family she’s made claims she doesn’t trust Han not to drown him

6: one way in which I relate to this character

I too am kinda naïve, overeager, impulsive and don’t think things through, a bit pissy and whiny on occasion, always looking for something more, want to see the best in people, love my family and friends and would do anything for them, and would also probs sink into a depressive episode if my life’s work fell down around me. I’m a LOT like Luke except he’s braver than me.

Hey anon, oof you’re in for a ride. Buckle up

So basically wtfock is the Belgian remake of SKAM. If you’re not familar with SKAM, it’s a Norwegian teen drama show about the life of teenagers in high school. It is released in the form of clips throughout the week with the episode culminating on Friday. Each season focuses on the life of one person and we, the viewers, experience life from their point of view. I watched all seasons of all remakes (life? idk her). But wtfock season 3 really messed me up in a good way. Since it’s the season I’m currently watching, I’ll answer your question based on that.

So the “main” character in season 3 (aka the person who whose point of view we follow) is Robbe Ijzermans.

He’s a smol gay baby koala who’s still in the closet and suffers a great deal of internalized and externalized homophobia. He also has a mom who is mentally ill and an absent father. In season 3 he joins a flat-share because life at home becomes unbearable.

His flat-mates:

Zoe aka his mom (and the main of season 2. Her story is heartbreaking also but what there is new. This is skam)

Senne; Zoe’s boyfriend

Milan, an openly gay man who’s also Robbe’s dad

At the beginning of the season, Robbe gets into a relationship with Noor, a cute girl who he meets in a party in a bathroom but their relationship doesn’t go anywhere and he breaks up with her while old town road is playing in a restaurant after she orders the soup of the day

Robbe tries to live his life in peace until the love of his life Sander comes into the picture and his world is shaken upside down.

he’s basically the opposite of Robbe. He’s a whirlwind, a hurricane, and Robbe doesn’t know what he got himself into until it’s too late. I won’t spoil much, but their story is heartbreaking but still beautiful. They’re so so in love with each other and always get their happy ending, no matter how much shit they have to go through. Obviously they are my favorite ship!

what were your main issues with each season? even the season that's labeled as "perfect" by so many fans (aka season 1). and if ur able to, go in-depth abt it :3

I LOVE U GOOD QUESTION!!!! thank you for sending in…

S1- there’s a few things about s1 that aren’t perfect. the stranger is not that great.. and the entire confrontation doesn’t make much sense if you didn’t steal from him. i’ve seen people say it would of been better to have a St. John or even Jolene replace the stranger and I really like the latter. - unable to have kenny on your side by the end of the game if you decided to side with lilly more is also pretty frustrating. i get its his character to hold grudges but after trying to save larry, there’s not even options to reason with him afterwards. and after that i was loyal and nice to him but he still fucks me over. -it succcksss carley and doug’s characters die off without any big development. carley significantly gets more development (even forming some kind of relationship with lee) but poor doug is just more of a comic relief. we can’t even admit to our past if you saved doug : / its unfair. -also wow, chuck deserved better… at least mention him to the group!! but overall s1 is still amazing. i might go more in depth someday about its flaws in another post.

S2- OOF there’s a lot with season 2 and the more i revisit it, i realize its my least favorite season. -too many interesting characters are introduced and killed off/disappear with no real development. need i say more? nick, sarah, luke, 400 days characters etc. - choices do not matter. and i know its cliche but it truly does not matter how you treat your friends, kenny, carver, steal from arvo or not etc. they’ll all still feel the same about you. the only choices that matter is the grand finale. -the story falls flat after ep 3. the season starts off very promising but the lack of no carver really halts the story and it clearly begins to drag when russians are involved and they shove the whole “kenny’s a dangerous psycho” down your throat. there’s no goal. carver should of been a long term villain the whole season. -jane should of just left and it should of been luke vs. kenny for a more difficult choice. the season’s pretty messy but there’s still some redeeming qualities and moments that make it worth playing at least once. the main issue is essentially the characters though.

S3- OK, s3 is actually good in my opinon and not that bad but yeah people have pointed out the flaws repeatedly. but you’ll be spared from the gabe hate because i actually don’t have any problems with gabe really. -besides david, gabe and javi, none of the other characters really leave an impact and there’s quite a lack of character development from them. tripp, elanor, kate etc. are alright at best its just nuts since this season had 5 episodes compared to s4 with only four and they developed nearly all the characters quite well. -aj and clem’s side plot doesn’t really go anywhere. the flashbacks were pretty bad too and ooc. clem’s whole arc is essentially, “WHERE MY SON?” -villain is pretty bad yet again, joan sucks ass and she literally just poofs when you don’t shoot her because the writers don’t know what to do with her. she’s just your basic bitch villain. but like i still enjoy s3 a lot besides its flaws.

S4- my fave season, its wonderful but there’s some flaws. -the entire focus of the season of raising aj is downplayed by the end. it doesn’t really matter how you raise aj, he stills ends up the same and you are the one to trust him or not which is too bad because its pushed so much. it lead many to believe if you fucked up raising aj, he’d turn insane (especially when you killed lilly in ep 3) -in fact it doesn’t really matter how you treat all the other characters too besides romancing them or not. they all still tolerate or even like you even after burning your old teacher or telling them to fuck off. its disappointing and doesn’t make a scum play through very enjoyable. -captured violet/louis’ outcomes were kinda lame and very rushed which makes their whole arc feel incomplete which is sad because they’re such good characters. -minerva is great but lilly is mixed villain. her actions and sentiments shift a lot which is confusing. in ep 2, many were led to believe lilly was redeemable. also it still makes no sense to murder and mutilate all these kids when you want to win them over lmao?? the fuck lilly. one day i’ll replay s4 and truly analyze her. but yeah i still love it!!

- um excuuuuse me I have waited two books for us to come back home to britain to see everyone again and now everything is awful and shitty and scary and my fave is leaving and nothing’s how it should be??? no??? this is unfair??????

(to be fair to him I guess it’s understandable to want some time alone to process the absolute outrageous bullshit he just pulled for a guy he’s known for like four months)

he used his page time well tho; instantly convincing roland of his worth and making her laugh... giving laurence his cup of tea b/c he looked like he needed it more... telling laurence that he’s leaving because he promised to do that much at least... truly the best boy, off to fetch more dragons apparently because it wasn’t quite crazy enough the first time

- god I love jane roland, I’m so glad my two faves got along instantly, between them they could... maybe protect laurence from himself? at least a little??? I can but dream

- I think this is the most emotionally invested I’ve been in a piece of media since that time I spent a few months completely incoherent over uncharted, and naughty dog very kindly held my heart in their hands and chose to be gentle with it in the end but I am not so sure that is how it’s going to be for this series and I am Not Prepared for the suffering

- I love whenever laurence thinks uncomfortably about one of the various and sundry atrocities committed by the government he’s still pledged all his loyalty to. yes william maybe the british empire... is in fact not good and has enough blood on their hands to dye the ocean red. I can’t wait until he connects the dots here (and presumably has a pretty intense crisis if faith about it because it seems like one of the loadbearing structures of his character... actually no wait I’m not ready to see this D:D:D:)

- the little details like the fact that he just calls bb!roland ‘emily’ and harcourt becomes ‘catherine’ so easily in his narration now are so so sweet

- lord allendale is one of those dudes who have good politics but is a shitheel to his family and I want to smack him

laurence being the mortified poster boy of this party, though? priceless, imagine coming up with a protagonist this effortlessly involuntarily hilarious, it’s the mark of true genius

- I don’t usually quibble over things like this, but I think the edit for this fourth book specifically is a bit lacking? I’ve come across a lot of mistakes even my dumb ass can pick up on already, and I’m only a hundred pages or so in

- caught between crying and cackling at this part b/c like laurence I’m d e v a s t a t e d at the thought of temeraire getting sick but also temeraire is just like cheerfully getting laid the whole time

also how did none of the aviators think to give laurence The Talk about giving his dragon The Talk, you all know what he’s like

- see I’m very happy they found the cure but I don’t fucking trust it b/c the pattern of these books tends to be to give you one moment of ‘oh phew everything is going to be okay’ about 2/3 into the story and THEN everything goes to hell and fifty pages later laurence is dissociating and napoleon has conquered prussia

It’s really cool how the author shows that napoleon has a better handle on laurence’s psychology after barely meeting him than a lot of people he’s known for years now, though, really adds to his menace and appeal as a character

- wow uh that’s one way to end a book... it’s actually tipped over from tragedy into a strange sort of hilarity for me now: he literally got sued out of his life’s earnings for being a decent human being, committed treason for the same reason and is about to be hanged for thinking genocide might have been a step too far -- in the span of thirty pages. I believe ‘that escalated quickly’ is not too much of an exaggeration here

- SIPHO IS GONNA WRITE BOOKS ONE DAY YOU GUYS!!!! I PROUDLY WELCOME OUR SECOND NERD TO THE CREW

- I think this one might be my least favorite so far? not that I disliked it, it’s just the one that’s hit the worst by the fact that there’s not always that much time spent with the cultures central to the book; tswana seems really interesting but because of the way the plot played out and our limited perspective though laurence it just didn’t work for me? the cool shit comes in sipho’s book at the end, like how thoroughly they kicked the europeans out of the coast of africa, which is very cathartic (I will say that most of the second book being set on the ship and then only a sliver of it is actually in china annoyed me too haha)

I have the distinct feeling this book is setting up for some Misery and breaking of the pattern a bit in the next one though, which will be interesting! ONWARDS TO MORE PAIN AND LAURENCE IS ALREADY PASSIVELY SUICIDAL FROM THE OUTSET SO LIKE... I’M SURE THIS WILL BE REAL FUN :)

Since you don’t seem to want a polite and civil exchange of opinions on this, and are actually being incredibly rude here (whether you meant for it or not, I don’t know) I hope you won’t mind me keeping this as short as I can. All Might worked in the beginning of the bnha manga as a textbook definition of a deus ex machina, came around, solved an otherwise unsolvable plot point out of the blue bending the laws that had just been established for that universe, and Deku literally (literally) didn’t have to go through any conscious trial, soul-search or any other self-aware journey with the intention of fixing his own problem. All he did was to be heroic and to be quirkless, which for him are circumstances since those are innate traits of his character. And the only singular thing he has is that he’s quirkless, his heroic personality is shared by all of UA (Mina acted in the exact same way in Kirishima’s backstory as he did to save Bakugou, didn’t get any cool op powers out of it)

All Might was supposed to give OfA to Mirio, the literal most heroic character in bnha, a boy who had been working his ass off to become a proper hero since he was a child, but instead he found a quirkless kid and decided that he deserved a chance to become a hero too. I’m not saying that’s not true, or that Deku didn’t deserve it. I’m saying that he didn’t actively or consciously do anything to gain that power. He simply acted in a way true to his self, and that was it.

I’m gonna have to make present to you that the next time I get an ask with that tone in my inbox I’m blocking you without answering. I’m not here to be called an idiot by the first random stranger I find online, if you want a conversation with me all I’m asking is for you to be polite, that’s not too much at all in my opinion.

Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil, todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood, iida's brother/idol was paralyzed and almost killed, shigaraki unknowingly killed his parents as a child, toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever,

eri was used and experimented on HER ENTIRE LIFE, believing she was a disease to the world and could only cause suffering. I could go on for pages about the suffering these characters have ALREADY gone through- but that is okay, because the story is better for it. Because we as an audience wouldn't have cared nearly as much for deku's gain of one-for-all, if it wasn't for the trials and turmoil he faced his whole life living as a quirkless child;

Bnha is a positive story, but it does not rely solely on positivity to get by. It is a story about determination; to push back against adversity, to go on even in the face of the unknown or impossible; even if fate itself is against you. It's about climbing your mountains and beyond that, dare I say, beyond plus ultra. It's is not trying to adhere to its genre, it's is trying to be everything the genre could be and more, and as succeeded thus far.

Which is why I can understand the disappointment from the last anon, because solving everything through friendship and "hand holding" has become a norm in this genre specifically- and bnha is anything but quick and easy ways out.

Sorry if this is long, and I really hope you don't take this as an attack against you or your opinion. If that is all bnha is to you, and if that is how you perceive the show, who am I to say you are wrong. But I hope you understand what I have said at least, because you still are a huge inspiration to me as an artist and in this community. Hope the rest of your day goes alright.

Alright, first off, if you don’t want to come off as condescending try and maybe don’t be condescending. I’m nearly sure you didn’t do this consciously, considering how you ended the rant, but going “are we even reading the same story” when you supposedly want a civil exchange of opinions is the worst thing you could do ever. You pretty much said “I don’t wanna disregard your opinion but here is a list of reason why you’re wrong and I’m right”, please next time you mean to keep it civil try and avoid that, because that sounds just as bad as you’d assume.

Second, I thank you for the recap of all the tragic backstories bnha gave us, but my answer was about conclusions to arcs, not beginnings. I literally never once said that bnha is a happy-go-lucky story from start to end, I only said it made an habit of reaching for the best possible conclusion it could ever go for by the end of every arc up until now.

“The story starts off with a weak, defenseless deku being beaten by his once best friend”, sure (aside from the “once best friend”, Deku and Bakugou were never friends to begin with, please do reread the second Kacchan vs Deku for Bakugou’s view on their relationship) that’s how the story starts, and it ends with Deku with the strongest quirk on the planet, mentored by his childhood hero, with a civil and friendly rivalry with his childhood bully, on his way to become the number one hero, happy and loved and respected. “”Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil” again, sure, and he could have given in to it and become a villain or let his terrible personality just become worse and worse, every single bad thing happened to him could have made him closer to a bad guy or given him good reasons to go against the heroes, and instead he’s working to become better, is loved and cherished, has friends that will build him up and care for him and risk their lives for him, and is actually in a way healthier place than he was in the beginning. “Todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood” SURE and now he’s got his mother back, he’s learnt to be the bigger person and put distance between himself and his father to instead use him to reach his own goals, is happy and has friends and, again, he’s supported and loved and is in a way happier place than he was in the beginning. “Toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever” yes, and in any other manga the reveal would have brought a whole damn lot of drama and people calling him a fraud and turning against him, but instead that scene is the most heartwarming one in the whole manga, the whole world supporting and loving him and yelling his name to cheer him on

I could go on, but I think I made it pretty clear? Every single arc, be it a character arc or a story arc, starts tragic to end up with the most positive outcome you can have for it. There isn’t one arc that has had a tragic conclusion yet. So is it really that weird for me to think it’s believable and not surprising at all that Eri’s story, for however tragic it might have started as, could also have a happy ending? That this manga never tried to present itself as one in which things can and will turn out for the worse?

I’m not even sure exactly what your incredibly long ask was about, man. What were you trying to prove to me? Which part of the answer I gave were you trying to disprove? You just went on about how sad everyone was at the beginning of the manga as if that proved somehow that Horikoshi isn’t actively working to give everyone the happiest future they could have.

A recap of my answer is: “I personally don’t mind Eri having a fix-it quirk because it fits well in Nighteye’s plot and falls perfectly in line with how every other arc has turned out for the best up until now”

And you came at me with an eight asks long rant that can be summed up in “you’re wrong because people in the beginning of the story were sad”

Listen. I’m always open to conversations about different opinions and takes on a story. But, again, I’m gonna need you to be polite about it and open to an equal exchange. Simply going at the end “I hope you won’t feel attacked” and “have a nice day” isn’t enough if for the rest of the rant you talked to me as if you were assuming I’m an idiot. And I’m actually gonna need you to properly read my answers before trying to follow up with them, next time. Please. I don’t have the time to rephrase my answers sixty times just because people keep answering without actually reading them.

Your heart raced, rapidly, in a way you didn't know it could. Hands sweaty, you mindlessly wiped them off on your shorts, before dragging a hand nervously through your (h/c) locks, messing them up. Piper's hand reached over, grasping your wrist in the grip of her nimble fingers. "Are you okay?" Her words rushed over you like a cold current, pulling you back to reality.

You ripped your gaze away from the boy that you refused to admit you adored. Faking a cough, you nodded, smiling at your best friend. "Duh. If I wasn't, I would've told you, McLean." Piper arched her eyebrow, but decided to ignore it, as she led you through the crowd surrounding the campfire, watching Leo start it. Taking your usual seats, Piper stirred up a conversation with Jason, who she hasn't seen all day, leaving you to admire the son of Hephaestus with wandering eyes.

You'd never love that asshole. He's a jerk, always flirting with any girl he thinks is pretty, playing pranks with the Stolls, and teasing almost everyone. Never would the words 'love' and 'Leo' leave your lips in the same sentence. So why did your heart feel like it wanted to leap out of your chest every time you saw the kid? Your breaths shorten, and your thoughts become blurry.

You didn't realize you spaced out. "Looking at something interesting?" Leo asked, patting your knee before sitting beside you. Furrowing your eyebrows, you stared at the fire, clenching your fists and pinning them to your knees.

"Fire's pretty interesting." You muttered half-heartedly, leaning forward, resting your chin in the palm of your hand. Leo watched you silently with a curious eye, never really noticing if you actually liked him as a person or not. He's noticed that you've acted distant around him, especially lately, when before the four of you were the closest, best friends not too long ago.

Leo forced himself to look away from you, to ignore how the light from the fire flickered, creating shadows that danced to a silent melody across your face. "I guess it is." Leo muttered, his elbows resting on his knees, as he watched the fire as well. A cold sweat settled on the back of your neck, and you wiped your hands on your shorts once more, attempting to ignore how close Leo was, and how his breaths were in sync with yours, and how his hands were dangerously close to your thighs.

A soft sigh escaped your lips, as you closed your eyes, leaning back onto your hands. Opening your eyes, you stared at the endlessly starred sky, watching a few clouds pass by. Leo stole a few glances your way, confused on how you were acting. He definitely didn't want you, out of all people, to hate him. Heart racing at unhealthy speeds, you forced yourself up, brushing off your shorts. "I'm just gonna, take a walk." You said response to Leo, Piper, and Jason looking at you curiously.

Pushing yourself to leave, you snuck out of the campfire, making your way quickly towards the forest, escaping the feelings you didn't necessarily wanted to admit you had in the first place. Groaning, you tugged slightly at your roots, a sigh escaping your lips once more.

Smiling slightly, a childhood memory flooded your thoughts. When movie night happened, Chiron would play, ironically, Disney's Hercules, knowing that it didn't show how the god of strength was at all. You knew it was fake, but you liked it. Especially Meg, his love interest.

"If there's a prize for rotten judgement, I guess I've already won that." You started singing, remembering the song you heavily relate to now. Alone, and in the middle of the woods, you technically were allowed to be as dramatic as you possibly pleased. "No man is worth the aggravation. That's ancient history, been there, done that."

You thought you yourself, silently, pacing around as the background vocals played effortlessly in your head. Leo? Leo Valdez? You gritted your teeth, annoyed at yourself. Your last boyfriend was a flirt, someone who ended up cheating on you. You didn't want to throw that title on Leo, but better safe then sorry, right?

"No chance, no way, I won't say it no, no. It's too, cliche, I won't say I'm in love." You sang again, twirling around and swaying around to the music in your head. The serious thoughts pooled in the bottom of your brain. Were you actually, in love with Leo? Could a relationship, possibly sprout from you- You growled slightly, spinning in place. "I thought my heart had learned it's lesson, it feels so good when you start out." You sang loudly, snorting in amusement at your own innuendo. 'I'm lame.' You thought simply, but continued to sing loudly, your throats becoming sore. "My head is screaming 'Get a grip girl, unless you're dying to cry your heart out.'" You belted the lyrics out, climbing atop a rock, and spreading your arms out to an audience that wasn't there.

Or so you thought.

Hiding behind a nearby tree, Leo, Piper, and Jason watched silently, all amused. Unaware of their presence, you continued to sing. "No chance, no way, I won't say it, no no. This scene, won't play, I won't say I'm in love." You strutted around the top of the rock, tugging your hands through your hair, as the raw emotion you actually felt poured out of your lips into the next lyrics.

"You're way off base, I won't say it. Get off my case, I won't say it." Closing your eyes, you faced the star ridden sky, and carrying the tune, you belted the last lyric. "At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love!" You heaved heavy breaths, letting out a spiral of different curses.

Calming down, you sat at the edge of the rock, finally coming to acceptance with your feelings. Slamming the bottom of your shoe against the rock, you sighed heavily. "I, Y/N L/N, am in love with Leo Valdez. And it scares me, and I really hate it." You said aloud, and you heard a sharp gasp come from the woods.

Standing up quickly, you saw Piper, Jason, and Leo, emerge from the woods. "Fuck. Are you serious? You heard that?" You asked, wanting to be anywhere else but there. Leo was too stunned to answer you, and Piper nodded, a smirk spreading across her face.

"You have a good voice, Y/N." Jason smiled at you, and you thanked the gods for sending you someone as grounded and not embarrassing like Jason Grace. Blushing slightly, you smiled.

"Thanks Jace." You responded, and Piper winked at you, before grabbing Jason's hand in her own.

"We're gonna, go back to the fire." Piper smiled, before tugging Jason away, leaving you and Leo in an awkward silence. Your heart raced, stomach holding a mosh pit for about five thousand butterflies. Refusing to face Leo, you gritted your teeth. Annoyed at yourself, you clenched your fists at your sides, looking up at Leo.

"Got anything to say, repair boy?" You clenched your jaw, mad he hasn't said anything yet. You just confessed your love to the kid, the least you could get was rejection. But, what he did next irritated you. A smirk spread across his face. "Oh no." You mumbled.

"You love me?" Leo asked in a teasing tone, dragging a hand through his curls. You gritted your teeth. So much for having fun being dramatic. "You, Y/N, you love me. Leo." Leo continued to tease you, grabbing your hands in his own so you couldn't move away.

"Yes Leo, I fucking love you, okay? Reject me if you want, I don't give a fuck at this point, I-mmph!" Leo pressed his lips against yours, stopping your rant. A shiver ran down your spine, as you wrapped your arms around Leo's neck, pulling him closer, pressing your chests together. Leo pulled away, a smirk on his face, dragging his thumb across your bottom lip.

"You love me." He repeated, but this time he wasn't teasing you. A genuine smile spread across his face, and he grasped your face in his hands, as he repeated the sentence again. "You, love me." Leo spoke as if it finally sank into his brain.

"Yeah, loser." You muttered, and chuckled slightly, before looking him in his eyes. "I love you." You spoke, and Leo's breath hitched. A dorky smile spread across his lips, and he pressed another kiss to your lips.

"I love you too."

TV SERIES ASKS shadowhunters /and/ star trek (both please 😁) cause I'm nothing if not predictable & a total stan of ur blog

Kay, so this took a whole lot longer than expected cause college decided to dump shit on me all at once so some of the Shadowhunters feelings are out of date but I don’t have enough time to go back and rewrite all that but I’m just gonna have a brief scream about ep10 cause good goddamn that was intense. And I’m gonna apologize for the massive post ahead but I’m on mobile and don’t know how to do a read more so if you don’t want to read my thoughts on Shadowhunters and Star Trek, feel free to scroll by. Secondly, @sybil-branson-jr I’m so sorry it took me so long to answer this and I’m totally not worthy to have such an awesome follower like you and your blog is awesome and sunny and makes me happy 💛💛💛💛

Shadowhuntersmy all-time ultimate fave character: MAGNUS BANE. He’s my all time fave for so many reasons but mainly cause he’s such a complex character and we’re FINALLY getting to see more aspects of his personality and it’s really really nice to see my sexual orientation represented in a way that doesn’t make it seem like all bisexuals are up for threesomes and that we can’t be in a monogamous relationship

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: I absolutely used to hate Maryse. But after ep8 and the seeing her begin to realize her past actions were pretty shitty, she’s starting to grow on me. I’m a fan of multi-dimensional characters and seeing her struggle with being a good (emotions cloud judgement) shadowhunter while having to go through the thing with Robert and trying to be a good mother while still following orders and wanting her son to be happy but still having trouble accepting downworlders is really interesting to me. You can tell she really does want Alec to be happy and that she really does care for Jace but she is still a shadowhunter and that creates a really interesting internal struggle that I really wanna see more of.

a character I used to like but now don’t: This doesn’t really apply? Cause I love them all. Valentine is a massive asshole but he makes a really good villain. And Iris was just introduced this season and again, she’s supposed to be a villain so you were never really supposed to like her.

a character I’m indifferent about: I’m pretty indifferent about Lydia but it’s mainly because she hasn’t been in that many episodes and we don’t have much of a backstory for her. We know she was in love and he was killed so now she’s dedicated to her work. But that’s about it. She’s a badass shadowhunter and I’m dying to see more of her.

a character who deserved better: ALL OF THEM. They all deserve to be happy and not have to worry about the literal world ending. Magnus deserves recognition for the sheer amount of stuff he does to save everyone and he deserves to not be treated like shit because he’s a warlock. Alec deserves to be happy with his boyfriend and not feel so guilty over feeling like he failed as a shadowhunter because he couldn’t keep Jace from Valentine, he let a demon into the Institute and he killed Jocelyn. Isabelle deserves better cause the smartest shadowhunter in the Institute doesn’t deserve to be relegated to an almost background character whose current storyline revolves around drug addiction. Jace deserves better cause poor guy was psychologically and physically abused by Valentine, then rescued, then forced to go on the run because the Clave thought he was working with Valentine. Luke deserves better because he had just gotten Jocelyn back and then Valentine’s demon killed her. And he’s been such a good father figure to Clary and Simon but we’ve barely seen him this season and so far he’s lost the love of his life, reunited with his sister only for her to be taken from him by the man who betrayed him and turned him into a werewolf, and was lied to and tricked by one of the only people that’s still alive that he cares about. I could go on and on.

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: Alec and literally any female character ever. He’s gay. As in into guys. He’s not bisexual. He’s not straight or pansexual or anything else. He’s gay and his boyfriend is the High Warlock of Brooklyn. And I’m not super into Alec x Jace but that’s mainly because I can’t see them as anything other than brothers and parabatai.

a ship I’ve never been able to get over: MALEC. And it’s not just because they’re the only canon couple on the show. I just love their dynamic and the fact that they’re both figuring out their relationship together. Matt and Harry’s chemistry makes the relationship feel so real and natural and I applaud them for caring so much about Magnus and Alec and how dedicated they are to getting the relationship right.

a cute, low-key ship: I’m so here for Clary x Isabelle. We got a few Clizzy scenes last season and early on this season. And before the whole yin-fen mess, they were getting closer and their relationship could easily read as the beginnings of a romantic relationship.

an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: I’m not really sure what ships would be unpopular? Cause I’ve seen people ship just about everyone with each other? And typically the really unpopular ships are unpopular for reasons I agree.

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: I understand why it happened but I am definitely not a fan of Magnus x Camille. I fully respect that Camille helped Magnus out of a bad place in his life but abusive and manipulative relationships are never ever okay. Thankfully, everyone seems to agree that Camille was a terrible person and I haven’t seen anyone ship them romantically. I’ve only ever seen Camille as an ex in fics or as someone who causes tension between Magnus and Alec.

my favourite storyline/moment: the wedding kiss scene will go down as one of my absolute favorite moments but I’m a big sucker for any malec scene. I absolutely lost it when Alec met Madzie and I really wanna see Alec with more small children now.

a storyline that never should have been written: I’m not a big fan of the yin-fen storyline just because I don’t seen much of a point to it right now. I’m trying to keep an open mind because so far, the show has been amazing. I really hope there’s a point to this whole storyline so I won’t say I don’t think it should’ve been written yet, but I’m just not a fan.

my first thoughts on the show: the whole reason I started watching was because I saw people on my dash royally loosing their shit over some couple (malec) on some fantasy show (shadowhunters). I’m a sucker for an awesome canon couple and once I started watching the show, I marathoned all of season 1 in like three nights over the summer. I’m a sucker for a well done fantasy show (early seasons of Supernatural) and, slightly questionable special effects aside, I felt shadowhunters was really well done. For being based off a book series with a questionable author and for seemingly flying under the radar until the show, I was completely taken with the characters and the storylines.

my thoughts now: I’m in love. I’m completely obsessed. As you can tell, my blog has completely shifted from a Star Trek blog to a Shadowhunters blog. Part of that is from the lack of Star Trek on my dash and not having new content every week like a tv show, but I’ve also fallen in love with the characters and storylines and I firmly believe that this cast is the most amazing cast ever. They care so much about the show and their characters and they all seem like they’re awesome friends.

Star Trek (I’m gonna do the reboot movies cause that’s what got me into Star Trek and I have more opinions about the movies than any of the tv series)

a character I’m indifferent about: Carol Marcus. Which is mainly Abrams’ fault since he apparently has a phobia of giving out characters’ backstory. I’d love to see more of her because I think she’s incredibly brilliant and she’d be a great addition to the rest of the crew.

a character who deserved better: ALL OF THEM! Kirk deserves to not feel like he’ll never live up to his dad’s legacy. Spock deserves to not feel like he doesn’t fit in anywhere because of his half Vulcan-half human heritage. McCoy deserves to be treated like a goddamn part of the triumvirate because he fuCKING IS. I AM SO SALTY ABOUT HIM BARELY BEING A PART OF THE BIG THREE IN THE FIRST MOVIE AND BEING PRACTICALLY WRITTEN OUT OF MOTHERFUCKING SECOND MOVIE. PRAISE THE LORD FOR STAR TREK BEYOND AND THE INCREDIBLE LEONARD MCCOY BEING TREATED LIKE THE VERY IMPORTANT MAIN CHARACTER THAT HE IS. I have lots of feelings about how his character has been treated and I could rant forever about it

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: I was never really able to get super into any ships that had Chekov in them just because Anton looked so young in the first two movies. But then Beyond happened and apparently Chekov was hitting the gym on the five year mission cause our friendly Russian navigator got ripped.

a ship I’ve never been able to get over: MCKIRK. I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!!! The grumpy southern doctor loves the literal ray of sunshine captain. And the literal ray of sunshine captain loves the grumpy southern doctor. And they’re already such good friends and obviously care about each other (“I couldn’t just leave you there lookin’ all pathetic”). They just seem to fit together. McCoy is able to ground Kirk when he’s in danger of getting too wrapped up in his own head and Kirk is able to bring out McCoy’s more adventurous side and they just make each other better. I could continue to wax poetic but this post is already gonna be massive

a cute, low-key ship: Spuhura is my jam. Like cute little finger kisses in the hallway or turbo lift or under the table in the mess hall. And Uhura being able to talk to Spock in Vulcan and give him that little piece of home is just adorable

an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: again, I don’t really know any unpopular ships? I can only think of Khan x Bones but I don’t see much of it and I really don’t like it.

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: Khan x anyone. I just can’t get behind that. Especially Khan x Bones. Just nope.

my favourite storyline/moment: I really enjoyed all of Beyond simply because it felt like it finally got back to the root of what Star Trek means: to explore new cultures with an open mind and offer up the best of humanity. So that’s probably my favorite storyline. My favorite moment was probably when it was revealed, in a completely un-dramatic way, that Sulu was gay. It was such a small moment but the reveal was done is such a quiet and nonchalant way that, it seemed to me, the writes sought to normalize the fact that Sulu has a husband and an adorable daughter. Which is awesome. Whenever a straight character is revealed to have a spouse or children, there’s never this big dramatic reveal so why should it be any different for a same-sex couple? I dunno. I just thought it was a really sweet moment and a nice nod to George Takei and the original series. Plus we had Simon Pegg basically say ‘fuck it’ and made everyone some orientation other than straight.

a storyline that never should have been written: I don’t get why they had to kill off Amanda in the first movie? Like? Spock’s planet was already destroyed and it’s not like he and Kirk bonded over both losing a parent? It just seemed pretty pointless to me plus all the scenes we got with Spock and Amanda were so sweet. I would’ve loved to have seen more of them

my first thoughts on the show: I think I remember being immediately engrossed in the movie. Since it opens in space, I was instantly pulled into this amazing futuristic world. And then I got to see cocky young Kirk and bby Spock then cocky older Kirk and sassy older Spock. AND THEN I got to meet my favorite salty southern doctor and I was never the same

my thoughts now: *aggressively hums theme music* I love Star Trek so much. To me, it showcases the best of what humanity has to offer and it shows us how to embrace other cultures and beliefs. Especially with the current political situation (I’m in the US), it’s seems more important now to be tolerant and accepting of people from other cultures and ethnic groups. I saw a post going around a little bit ago that was talking about how the person thought they should honor Anton. They pointed out Chekov was always supposed to show how the US and Russia would be able to overcome the tension between the countries. So the OP said they thought it’d be a nice nod to the original point of the character of Chekov to have a new navigator on the Enterprise and have them be a Muslim woman and I whole heartedly agree. I don’t want to see Chekov be killed off. Just have him be transferred to another ship and let the Enterprise have a new badass Muslim lady as the navigator. Or any other minority that is underrepresented
