dark nights ,, g.tnka

🧷 I decided to write gundham because I adore that man and I want to marry him fr 😔❤️
🎐 f!reader (because I’m self-indulgent 🥲) ;; cute fluff ;; a storm ;; gundham + a tight muscle shirt 🤭 ;; gundham calls you paramour and dove and darling because those nicknames suit him and they’re so fucking cute 😭 ;;
;;
gundham had invited you over, missing your company, because ‘even the supreme overlord of ice gets lonesome in his abode.’
you happily obliged however, also missing the warmth you felt in your boyfriend’s apartment, as well as his adorable little hamsters, the devas.
and so, you’re driving to his home, playing some low, soft songs on the way there, your bag packed in the passenger seat with hoodies and other assorted clothes, and your hair done in a messy bun in the back of your head with light bangs framing your face, and subtle dark eyeliner around your eyes.
finally arriving at his door, your things in hand, you knock on his door.
you giggle at the rustling behind it, and you smile softly when the door finally opens, revealing your boyfriend with his hair down and messy, face mostly clean aside from the gentle eyeshadow still around his eyes, in a snug black tee that accentuates the subtle muscle of his arms and the thicker muscle of his chest, and loose grey sweatpants hanging low around his hips. he looks absolutely delectable.
“darling? you’re gawking, is something the matter?”
his comfortingly deep voice pulls you out of your trance, and you giggle and nod. “sorry, baby, you’re just super pretty.”
his cheeks flush at the compliment, ever the shy guy despite his normal persona. “ah, thank you, my paramour.”
you nod, stepping forward to press a kiss to his lips, more prominent now that the pale foundation isn’t covering them, and he reciprocates happily with a ringed hand to your cheek.
he pulls away though with a beautiful close lipped smile. “let us get inside, my love, we mustn’t let it get cold. besides, I’ve been dying to feel your most comforting presence in my dark abode.”
once again, you nod, and step inside and walk to his room, where you set your things. you know he doesn’t mind, he’s let you know, and you’re comfortable considering you’ve been together for two years. you’re surprised you’re not living together at this point.
you leave his room, having stolen one of his hoodies, which makes him chuckle when he notices. “cold, my dove?”
you giggle. “yeah, it was kinda chilly outside, especially with the rain coming in.”
he nods with a knowing grin on his defined features. “of course, I understand, love. come, I’ve prepared some movies for us to enjoy. ah, but first, please make yourself comfortable, I’ll go grab our treats for the night.”
“ok, baby.” you smile and kiss his cheek while he presses one to your head, lifting your hand and kissing the back of it, before walking to the kitchen to retrieve your snacks.
god I got lucky with this man, you think, he’s perfect.
as soon as you utter those words, you notice four familiar little blobs in your peripheral vision, and you turn your head to see the devas crawling over to you to cuddle against you, maga-z gently nibbling on your forearm, making you giggle. “hi, babies. miss me?”
you smile fondly at them. cuties, they are.
gundham walks back into the room, seeing the cute little scene, and he smiles. “how adorable. a goddess with fearsome creatures, shall I call you circe?”
you giggle at his reference, knowing Circe is one of your favorite Greek goddesses. “I wish, baby, but she’s too cool for me.”
“oh nonsense, dove. you’re goddess enough for me, and I think that suffices enough, yes?”
you smile and kiss his arm as he sits down next to you. “I suppose, love. now, what movie do you have picked out?”
he gives a small smile as he pecks your temple before handing you a bowl of fresh fruits as well as the chips he knows you love. “I’ve picked out a few, darling, just let me know what you’d like to watch, okay?”
you nod, getting comfy and munching on your fruits.
he scrolls through movies he rented for you, passing through Atlantis, The Phantom of the Opera, The Conjuring, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Incantation - and as soon as he stops on that, your face lights up; it’s your favorite horror movie.
“Ooh, ooh, that one!”
he chuckles. “okay, my paramour, we shall watch this one.”
you smile giddily at him and kiss his cheek. “thank you baby.”
he gives you a warm smile, one you’ve grown to love and appreciate, seeing as it usually only comes out with you. “anything for you, my dove. let’s watch now, I know you’re practically vibrating in your seat.”
you giggle at his comment, snuggling up close and grabbing a chunk of watermelon and handing it to gundham, who opens his mouth for it. you pop the fruit into his mouth, and he chews with a little smile, waiting til he’s done to kiss your head and speak again. “thank you, my paramour.”
nodding, you chomp on a piece of your own. “of course, pretty boy. let’s watch the movie now!”
he gives a small laugh, turning on the movie for you both to watch.
all goes well, until about 10 minutes later, thunder booms outside, and a flash of lightning is the last shine of light you see before all goes dark.
you scream, clinging onto gundham. you wouldn’t necessarily say you have a fear of storms, but this one got to you.
you feel arms wrap around your form in a comforting manner, and a kiss is pressed to your head as a hand brushes down your hair. “shh, my love, all is well, it’s just a power outage, you are okay.”
you bury your head into gundham’s thick chest, whimpering a bit. “are.. are the devas okay?”
he smiles against your head, feeling the aforementioned hamsters crawl and snuggle against his neck, and close to your head. “yes, darling, they’re just fine. are you?”
you pause for a moment, before looking up at him, faintly seeing his defined facial features from what little light is coming through the window, and nodding. “yea, I.. I’m fine, baby.”
he nods in response, kissing your forehead. “good, that’s good. I suppose no movie then?”
you pout, before sitting up and grabbing your snacks. “let’s just head to your room, baby. it’s comfy in there, and we can light candles!”
he chuckles at your enthusiasm, standing up and holding out a hand for you to hold. “let us go then, dove.”
you both head down to his bedroom, the familiar smell of incense and cedarwood filling your senses, making you smile, and you plop down on his bed, the black silk sheets comforting you with the plush pillows.
he gently grabs your snacks and places them on the bedside table, and he picks up a candle from a drawer, lighting it, and setting it down. the smell is a mix of lavender, and musky oak-like wood. he then turns to light and burn some incense as well, the woodsy smell complementing the candle.
he smiles at you now, and you lay back on the sheets comfortably, opening your arms to the beautifully misunderstood man in front of you, who happily takes your invitation and gets on the bed to lay comfortably on top of you, the top of his dark head close to your chin.
you press a kiss to his head, feeling drowsy and comforted by the way he runs his hands up and down your sides, and he presses a kiss to your collarbone.
“a nap would be good now, darling, storms are good for sleep. let us rest, and feel rejuvenated when we wake.”
you smile, nodding, softly scratching the base of his neck with your nails. “sleep.. sounds good, my love.”
he sighs deeply, his deep and rumbly voice making you warm inside. “sleep well, my paramour.” and with a kiss to your jaw, he’s snuggled his head against you, on his way to dreamland.
and it’s now that you realize, however.
this.
this is home, you think.
and you think you could stay til those candles burn out, til all of them do.
or forever.
yeah, that. that’s a good idea.
;;
hope you enjoyed this!! I love writing for gundham :((( he makes me so so happy and I want a boyfriend like him 😭😭
feel free to like and reblog, it’s greatly appreciated!!

You said requests are open? Perhaps some Gundham fluff?
Sure! Sorry, I was asleep when you asked this 😅
Gundham Tanaka HCs
Genre: Fluff
When you have a rough day he loves to greet you with a warm cup of tea when you get home, and let the Devas cuddle you
Instead of spooning, Gundham prefers the "sweetheart's cradle" where one of you is half laying on top of the other. Most times it's him laying on you
He's not the type to get jealous easily, mostly because nobody dares to approach you when he's around
But when someone is bold enough to make a move, all it takes is prolonged eye contact with them to make them leave you alone
He absolutely loves watching animal movies with you. Sometimes nature documentaries, but more often he enjoys a good movie with an animal protagonist, so to speak, such as A Dog's Life or Milo and Otis
His preferred standard form of love is probably gift giving. He's always bringing you little animal-themed gifts, particularly fond of little ceramic animals
You have a whole collection of ceramic hamsters on your dresser
He also enjoys parallel play, where you two sit in the same room, doing different activities but still enjoying each other's company
This dude has quite the way with words. It takes a while for him to learn how to flirt, but once he does you are in for it
And it doesn't help that he has such a deep voice
He's also pretty ticklish though so you can get back after being flustered
At first he tries to hold back his laughter but his giggles easily pour out from behind from his scarf around you
Almost always a blushing mess when he's being affectionate with you
You tease him about it often. Believe it or not he loves the teasing
You're the sweetest person he's ever met, and he feels so lucky to have you
He's gonna love you for a long, long time

under your spell
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: gundham tanaka x gn!reader
summary: gundham is certain you cursed him! how else could he explain those odd feelings he gets around you?
Tumblr media
“you cursed me!”
you looked up at your classmate, his face mostly covered by his scarf, but you could still see a hint of his pink cheeks behind it.
“no matter how hard i try, you're always on my mind. tell me, what kind of spell did you use on me, witch?”
if it had been any other guy, you would've scolded him for calling you a witch. but this was gundham in front of you. you were used to his mannerisms by now and you knew that he meant no harm.
“gundham…”
you couldn't help but grin.
“i didn't curse you. could it be that… you have a crush on me?”
the boys eyes widened and the pink from his cheeks spread further across his face. he clenched his scarf, quietly mumbling to himself.
“no, impossible. i– i could never fall in love. nevertheless with a mere mortal!”
you smiled softly as you watched the boy struggle so much with his feelings for you. despite that, you were convinced that at least a part of him was aware that he liked you. otherwise he wouldn't have confronted you just now, right?

COMMISSION: SDR2 Boys x Reader - Marshmallow Hell Scenarios
Details: For those who don’t know, Marshmallow Hell is an anime cliche/trope where someone falls face first into/is smothered by someone’s breasts. Also, this is for anyone with breasts, no pronouns are mentioned
Warnings: language and lewd suggestive scenarios but its kinda PG-13/Teen
SDR2 spoilers in some sections, but some will be implied to be Island Mode/no despair
Word Count: 4.5K words - around 500 for each boy
Byakuya Twogami
It was normal for you and all of your classmates to convene in the hotel restaurant every morning. You ate breakfasts handmade by the Ultimate Cook, discussed the day’s plans, and just caught up with each other. There were already cliques and little sub-groups within the whole - people who favored each other. Nekomaru could often be found getting stronger or training with Akane, Sonia and Gundham spoke of their interest in the occult, and Hajime and Chiaki had grown quite close. Ibuki had developed a fondness and sort of infatuation for the group’s self-appointed leader: Byakuya Togami. It seemed natural to want to be closer to someone titled the Ultimate Affluent Progeny, as he held wealth, status, confidence, and yet a bit of mystery. Ibuki, however, seemed to take to him more than the others. She was constantly asking him questions, playfully praising him, following him around.
This morning in particular, you were minding your own business, in the corner talking about beach-going plans with Chiaki after having just finished your breakfast. Ibuki, loud and boisterous, was trailing behind Byakuya, asking after what their esteemed leader had planned for the day, and Hiyoko, short-tempered as ever, was slowly losing her patience with the noise so early in the morning.
You actually had to commend Byakuya on his own patience. For someone who would be easy to judge as pompous and stuck-up, he actually was quite good at keeping his cool and naturally taking up his post as leader. He passed by Chiaki and yourself on the way back to the kitchen of the restaurant, and you nearly felt bad for the man who appeared to still be groggy from sleep and yet was being bombarded by conversation. He handled Ibuki well. Hiyoko, however, had enough it seemed.
“Ugh! Shut the hell up! I just woke up and you’re being annoying! Go talk to Mr. Ham Hands in your private cabin if you wanna suck his gross, cheesy dick that bad!” Clenching her teeth in frustration, Hiyoko reached out and shoved Ibuki as hard as she could with her angry little hands. The strength such a hateful little body could produce was actually quite surprising. Ibuki screeched, stumbled abruptly forward into Byakuya, who, taken by surprise, tumbled forward onto you. Like a stack of dominos you all went down with quite a bit of commotion.
With the hefty size and height of the Affluent Progeny before you, you were easily taken flat to the ground with a gasp. Everyone turned to look at the situation: Ibuki collapsed across Byakuya’s ass and legs, and Byakuya smothered head first into the plush front of your breasts. Time seemed to stop for a second, and Byakuya raised his head, cheeks aflame with embarrassment at the undignified position. You looked back into his eyes with just as much shock. Hiyoko covered her mouth with both hands, holding back how devilishly delighted she was at the chaos she’d just caused.
“Well, well! If the big rich boy wanted some play that badly, he probably could’ve just asked (Y/N)! I must say, I’m quite jealous of his position!” Teruteru teased, wiggling his fingers, imagining himself switching places with Byakuya.
Byakuya scrambled to his feet, lifting himself off of you in a hurry while sputtering defensive, angry retorts about how a gentleman of rare stock such as himself would never stoop so low and something about not being a common rake like the promiscuous chef.
Teruteru Hanamura
Teruteru was playful, unserious, relaxed in most aspects of his life and personality. However, you noticed he was fiercely serious when it came to cooking. It was his passion, his life’s work, something he didn’t play around with. You admired how much time and effort he put into his craft, and loved to watch him work. He spent every breakfast, lunch and dinner period making a literal feast for all of his classmates, and you often liked to either watch him work his magic in the kitchen, or get more hands-on and actually help him. You found him funny and knowledgable, and liked learning little recipes and cooking methods as much as eating the finished works. However, it was nice to be complimented, compared to delicious dishes and praised for your cooking assistance skills. You found yourself having a lot of fun with him.
At the moment, you were helping Teruteru in the dining hall of the old building by the hotel. Your class had prepared a little party of sorts for tonight, a little feast and get-together to chat, have fun, and just be carefree for a night. Now done with the dishes, it was all about plating and arrangment. He wanted the dining hall to stun your peers when they arrived in the next ten minutes or so.
He was up on a ladder, piling up a tower of sashimi and nigiri a mile high. You spotted him, nervous about the height he was at, especially with his short frame. You had your arms out in preparation, ready for any spills or to catch stray strips of fish meat. Everything had to be perfect. He took pride in that. Ice on the bottom, a cold room, fresh meat, the proper placement.
Teetering to place a bit of yellowtail and red snapper on the top of his masterpiece, you heard him gasp a bit, one foot stumbling over the other on the top step of the ladder. Determined not to crash into and therefore ruin his mountain of fish, he quickly shifted his weight, twisting so he instead fell away and off of the ladder and unfortunately, onto his gracious helper. You grunted with the impact, slamming flat onto your back on the hard floor with Teruteru on top of you. With his height and the angle of the fall, his face planted so very conveniently into your breasts.
It was almost a little too perfect of a scenario for someone like him, and you flustered up immediately, questioning if he’d done it on purpose as he took his good old time getting up. Of course, lewd remark after lewd remark ensued, as he took advantage of the situation fully. How often would he get an opportunity as lucky as that?
Nekomaru Nidai
Nekomaru had many more positive traits than negative ones. You absolutely loved spending time with him, as he radiated positivity and pushed all of those around him to be their best self and train their bodies and minds. He was all about mental and physical strength, as was expected of the Ultimate Team Manager. Nekomaru trained champions, and so he could never just let his friends go without realizing their full potential. You very much enjoyed his presence, his overwhelming energy, hearty laugh, encouraging personality.
Spending time with Nekomaru often meant also spending time with Akane. The two walls of muscle often bonded over their shared interest in being strong in body and mind, and today you’d agreed to train with them. Nekomaru was good at reading people’s insecurities - better to help overcome them - and today, he insisted on honing your senses, as the killing game left you feeling vulnerable and even a bit useless. There’s no one you trusted more to help you get out of those feelings. It was good to get your mind off of things while training to become less of a target for a killing. Two birds, one stone and all that.
Nekomaru had all four of you blindfolded: you, Nekomaru himself, Akane, and Hajime Hinata, who often got roped into silly activities with whoever seemed to be available to hang out that particular day. Nekomaru insisted he could use the training as well, so here he was. The next hour or so was spent dodging light attacks, relying on hearing and sensing danger when sight was not an option. Nekomaru always went easier on you and Hajime, saving the harder hits for Akane, who would never accept any less. Out on the beach behind the diner, you felt the sand between your toes, the wind on your face, the blindfold forcing you to perceive your surroundings in a whole new way.
You swivled on your heels, hearing someone new approach from the south, and you assumed everyone else heard them, too. It was Ibuki, as you easily reognized from the voice.
“There you guys are! We couldn’t find you for like, forever! Anyhoo! Teruteru sent me to round y’all up! Soup’s on! Come on back to the-” before Ibuki could even finish her words, Akane was bolting, blindfold still on, toward the first island, and only Ibuki would actually see what happened next:
Akane, all speed and no sight, plowed into Hajime and pushed past him. He yelped, splatting onto the ground at full-force.
“Ouch! What the fu- ah!” Hajime was cut off as Nekomaru, who also was now heading in the same direction as Akane, tripped over Hajime’s prone body on the sand, tripping face forward onto you, innocent of the chaos and unsuspecting while still blind to the world around you.
“Gah!” Nekomaru’s deep voice rumbled, clumsily taking you down with him, his huge mountain of a body easily smashing yours into the sand below him. Ibuki could only laugh at the cluster-fuck in front of her, the chain of events that lead to Nekomaru face planting directly into your chest. His exclamation of surprise was muffled into your soft mounds of flesh. You were speechless, just wondering what the hell was going on.
“Aww man, sorry, Hajime!” Nekomaru, hearing Hajime yell out beforehand, assumed it was the skinny brunette crushed below him. He reached up for the blindfold, lifting it and immediately feeling a rush of embarrassment set his cheeks ablaze. The tips of his ears were on fire and his heartbeat was racing, now making eye contact with you.
He wasn’t oblivious to his size, knowing whoever he’d fallen on top of was almost certainly pinned and unable to get up until he moved, so he scrambled to is feet, apologizing profusely and helping you to your feet while Ibuki made teasing remarks just a short distance away.
Gundham Tanaka
It was a rare stormy night on the beautiful tropical island. All outdoor activities were off the table, and so you and your good friend, Gundham, decided on spending time in his cabin. It had taken a lot of work to get Gundham to this point, where he let a “mere mortal” into the safe space of his private quarters, and he was still closed off in some ways. He had walls up: about his heart, his past, his Four Dark Devas, and you’d slowly broken many of them down. He still was his own quirky, awkward, edgy self, but around you, he was slightly more relaxed. He didn’t usually let others interact with his Devas, and he still insisted they could turn on even himself in a moment’s notice as they were powerful beasts and truly their own masters, but he was more comfortable letting you hold and take care of them than anyone else. You’d earned that right. You were worthy in his eyes.
You loved his personalized cabin, overrun with hamster tunnels and pet care items. It was so cute and cozy, a stark contrast to his own presentation to the world. Tonight, he regaled you with embellished and dramatic tales of his past feats while the Devas crawled all around you. One was under the collar of your shirt, trying to siphon away your body heat, another used your shirt sleeve like a tunnel. One sat in your lap, eating a seed you offered. Gundham’s storytelling was so entertaining to you because he was so effortlessly good at it. It was an accident that he was so alluring.
Without warning, lightning cracked outside and the lights went out. It was pure black all around you, and you assumed your peers in their own cabins were experiencing the same thing.
Freaking out a bit, Gundham yelled for his Devas, calling them back to his own side. Again, though he trusted you, and didn’t want to admit any faults in his breeding and training methods, at the end of the day, the Devas were animals with instincts and wild at heart. He feared them panicking at the sudden darkness and lashing out to scratch or bite you. He could handle it, as his bandaged arm proved, but he didn’t want that happening to you.
He reached out frantically for the Devas in the dark, lunging forward, scrambling and stumbling until he accidentally toppled you over. Clumsily, he fell forward onto you. You yelped at the impact, not seeing but feeling the Devas scramble for cover away from you before they could be crushed by their owner. Now flat on your back in the darkness, you smelled a masculine, fragrant gel product as a coif of hair tickled your nostrils. Quickly you realized that Gundham Tanaka had pinned you, his face smashed into your bosom.
The monitor that adorned every individual cabin flashed on, the monochromatic, evil bear appearing with a sheepish look across his mischievous face.
“Sorry there, kiddos! Backup generator comin’ at ya!” As if he even cared in the first place, he giggled before disappearing off the screen once again.
The lights shuttered and then flashed back on, Gundham now able to fully take in the situation. His eyes met yours, and widened in absolute horror, mouth agape. He shoved himself off of you immediately, crawling back to his side of the floor and gathering his Devas into his arms. He preferred to pretend the whole thing never happened, hiding his now tomato-red face behind the folds of his scarf.
Nagito Komaeda
Nagito was acting weird. Like, weirder than usual. You were all in the hotel restaurant for your morning meeting as always, save for Fuyuhiko, who was in the hospital after Peko’s trial the day before. Nagito was a clammy, sweaty mess, ranting and and raving about the most random things, and just… lying a lot?
You knew Nagito a little better than the others in the group, actively choosing to befriend and get to know him as much as he would allow, but one didn’t need to know Nagito well to know that he was lying. He was saying the most outlandish, obvious lies in rapid succession.
“Nagito, is this a joke? What are you up to, now?” Hajime, ever cynical and suspicious questioned the pariah of the group, who held himself in a crazed embrace, arms wrapped around his shaking form as he rambled on.
You also knew from spening time with Nagito that he was ill, extremely ill. He was so physically ill that it extended into affecting his mental and emotional wellbeing as well. It wasn’t like he didn’t lie to push his own goals from time to time, but this was different. Something was wrong. You’d all observed that Ibuki and Akane were acting strange as well, and so Hajime, kind of the default leader of sorts, put his flat palm to each of their foreheads and found them ablaze with heat. Ah ha! So there was an illness on top of the illness. Nagito was lanky and pale as it was, but today, he was a ghost of even that.
The group discussed what to do, trying to figure out what was wrong with your three obviously ill classmates, when Nagito, chuckling in a frenzied, unstable way, started to wobble on his feet. You saw his eyes roll to the back of his head, and he stumbled, beginning to drop. You swept forward and moved to catch him before he could hit the floor and take some real damage. With someone as sickly as him, a good fall would probably mess him up big time. Losing consciousness, his dead weight fell face forward, directly into the cushion of your breasts. You fumbled with his weight, struggling to keep him up while he nearly suffocated into the plush surface that smothered his face. You panicked, looking around for help, humiliation in your expression. He was heavier than his gangly frame suggested.
Hajime Hinata
You had the despair disease.
And you had it bad.
Forced into the hospital on the third island, you, Nagito, Akane and Ibuki had been quarantined, separated from most of your healthy classmates. Only Mikan, Fuyuhiko and Hajime visited the four of you on a day-to-day basis, both to care for you until you were better and to protect you from being victims of the killing game. Hajime, being closer to you than the others and someone who considered you a true friend, also just wanted to be there to keep you company. If he caught the disease trying to protect and visit you, so be it. He wasn’t really worried about it.
Little did Hajime know, you very much saw him as more than a friend. Although you’d never admit it to him, you were head over heels for your intelligent, perceptive, caring classmate. Your crush couldn’t have been bigger. When the disease first began to manifest and you were in the more mild stages of it, you tried to keep him away from the hospital, because it was clear to you which form of the disease you’d caught.
Akane had cowardice, Nagito lying, Ibuki gullibility, and you…
It was most definitely love… or lust, or infatuation… you couldn’t quite tell. You’d like to think it was love, because if it was just lust or infatuation, you’d think you’d be climbing all over Fuyuhiko and Mikan when they came to visit, too, but so far, your grabby hands had only been reaching for Hajime. Your mind had been infected with an all-encompassing passion for Hajime Hinata, and Hajime Hinata alone.
Again, when you were more conscious and healthy at the begginning stages of the disease, you could recognize the involuntary increase of feelings swelling in your heart. You tried to warn Hajime to stay away, fully aware of what was happening to your body. He insisted on taking care of you just as he would help Mikan take care of the others, regardless of your warnings. As your fever burned and the sickness ravaged your body, you found it harder and harder to not grab at him when he approached, to not flirt shamelessly, to not look him up and down and imagine him without his shirt on. On days when the island felt hotter than usually, you subtly even suggested that he just be rid of the white uniform shirt altogether. Hajime had been a blushing mess around you all week, but had done his best to ignore the touches and advances, as he knew you weren’t in your right frame of mind. Though he secretly liked you more as a friend as well, he’d never take advantage of your predicament.
On this day in particular, the disease seemed to be at its climax. Your body was going through waves of heat flashes, sweat pouring from your hairline and onto your face.
As soon as Hajime opened the door to your hospital room, you leapt out of the bed before he could even speak a word. Your heart burned with affection as you latched onto him, jumping into his arms and smushing his face into the crevice of your breasts, very much on purpose.
“Hajime~ I missed you~” You crushed his nose into the sweaty cleavage of your bosom, wanting him to feel the warmth and love you held for him.
“(Y-Y/N)!” Hajime sputtered, stunned at the surprise attack, could barely breath, smothered into the embrace.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
You really admired Peko for her strength, skill and silent grace. She was strong and knew she was strong. She didn’t boast, she was confident in her art form. She was truly the Ultimate Swordswoman. Although it was quite hard at first, you’d managed to get close enough to her to consider her a friend. Being close to Peko by default meant you’d have to get a bit closer with Fuyuhiko as well. The pair were inseparable it seemed, and you didn’t mind that. Fuyuhiko, despite his fiery, spiky exterior, was actually much more thoughtful and kind that most people knew. You’d grown to realize that those who earned a modicum of his trust and friendship would not be disappointed in the type of man he could be. He often tagged along, pretending he didn’t want to be there when you hung out with Peko.
You stood on one side of the beach with Peko across the way on the other side. Peko took up an offensive stance, preparing for a head-on attack. She’d agreed to teach you some swordsmanship and martial arts basics here and there after seeing your interest, and so here you were, on your third lesson. Today’s learning goals included the basics of defensive stances, blocks, counters.
You weren’t picking up the skills as quickly as you’d like, though Peko always encouraged you to press on in her sisterly, stern, blunt way. Fuyuhiko stood nearby, reading some old book from the enormous library while leaned carelessly against the outside wall of the diner. He looked up occassionally to watch you two and comment, to scoff or tease when you messed up or express concern begrudgingly when he felt like Peko was going a little hard on you. Though she was supportive verbally, it seemed that she sometimes forgot her own strength compared to a beginners when it came time for action.
Frustrated with your own skills, you spaced out a bit, sighing and dropping your guard for just a moment, the wrong moment. Peko surged forward for an attack, noticing your lack of focus just a second too late.
“(Y/N), block!” Peko spoke curtly as she approached. With that wake up call, you brought the practice sword up at the very last second, just barely avoiding a head-on attack from the master swordswoman, one that probably would’ve knocked you out cold. Your pathetic excuse for a block took away a bit of the brunt impact, but Peko’s pure strength had you stumbling back still, knocked backward off your feet.
Fuyuhiko, softer in the heart than he’d like to admit, looked up upon hearing the commotion and, in an instinctual moment of reaction, dropped his book and lunged forward, ready to break your fall, if even just a little. You made eye contact with him on the way down, dropping hold of the sword and twisting to grab onto his petite frame.
You easily tipped over his small body, taking him down with you. You instantly smothered him - your chest lining up perfectly with his nose and mouth - cutting off his airways as you two hit the ground. You were crushing him.
Profanities and protests fully muffled against your chest, Fuyuhiko struggled and swore, insulting you and hurling hateful curses from his compromising position.
Kazuichi Souda
You were making your way to Strawberry House from Grape House. In the elevator beside you was your good friend, Kazuichi, or just Kaz’, as you’d affectionately taken to calling him. You two often moved together, hanging out nearly every day, and now that you were all locked inside the funhouse, nothing had changed. In fact, with the danger of the killing game motive, you probably spent even more time linked at the hip with Kazuichi, as you liked to have each other’s back. He was a true friend to you.
Not only did you find Kazuichi’s unique style intriguing and his personality hilarious, but you really respected his unmatchable skill in engineering. He was a master, able to fix, take apart, and fix again nearly every machine or piece of tech that was thrown at him. He often, in fact, didn’t see just how amazing he was. Sure, he bragged at times, but you sensed a lot of insecurity under the surface, like he would never know just how valuable and important he actually was. You would often ask for his help fixing things or beg him to teach you some of what he knew.
On what you expected to be a short ride in the elevator, you were chatting it up with your best bud, complaining about the lack of food and the eye-strain caused by the bright walls of the fun house. One thing you two loved to do was complain together. You both just seemed to get each other.
Quite suddenly, the elevator stalled. Stopping mid-sentence, you grabbed onto Kazuichi’s forearm for reassurance as the elevator shook and thrusted to an abrupt halt with a jolt, knocking you into him. The lights flickered and went out.
“This is my worst fucking nightmare…” You chuckled nervously, grabbing onto Kazuichi tighter. He was panicking too under the surface, but being the Ultimate Mechanic, knew he was well within his skill set to fix the situation. Grumbling in displeasure, he sighed.
“Yeah, this fuckin’ sucks, but…” he started reaching out in the dark, looking for some kind of control panel or buttons, “I can probably get us outta here. Shit! If only I had just a speck of light!” You relinquished your hold on him so he could crouch, looking for some way to start his work. The panic was starting to really set in for you. What were the odds of this happening?
With a groan, the elevator lurched and shook again.
“Kaz’!” You shrieked in the dark, leaping forward to grab onto Kazuichi, not caring one bit if you were impeding on any progress he had made. He yelped as you suctioned yourself onto him, tackling him to the ground.
“H-hey!” Kazuichi’s voice was muffled below you. You could barely make it out. “I can’t breathe!” He struggled beneath you, locked in your vice-like, terrified embrace as you ashphixiated him into your chest.

Tell me anything and everything abt your headcanons and stuff for Mondo Owada, I'm all ears! He's one of my favorites so I'd love to hear what you think‼️
Thank you very much but you have no clue what you’ve just unleashed.
Fluff:
- Mondo’s maternal family originated from France, so French is his and Daiya’s first language. Of course, Mondo has never met his mother’s family… yet.
- Speaking of maternal family, anyone wanna take a guess as to what his mother’s maiden name is? Anyone? Too late, it’s Akamatsu.
- So yeah, Kaede is Mondo and Daiya’s little cousin. Kaede is about two or three years younger than Mondo, and she’s delighted to find her long lost cousin at her new high school.
- Due to having to fend for themselves at a young age, both Mondo and Daiya are really good cooks. The difference between them is that Mondo refuses to allow anyone else in the kitchen when he’s cooking. Think Gordon Ramsey but somehow even worse.
- Mondo will never admit to anyone that he likes to cook. God forbid you ask him to cook for you. Unless you’re sick or like really sad. He’ll tell you to never tell anyone though.
- Physical affection is not only his love language, it’s his way of life. Every time you see him, he’s leaning on or hugging one of his classmates. He’s like a really big cat.
- When he was a kid, Daiya couldn’t leave him alone for a moment, cause every time he came back Mondo would have befriended some random animal of prey. Daiya turns around and Mondo is cradling a Great Horned Owl in his arms like a baby.
- Mondo hasn’t been able to bring himself to have another pet since Chuck, so instead he co-parents everyone else’s pets. He’s already won over Celeste’s cat.
- Most of his childhood was spent around a pack of stray animals. One day, a cat curled up on his lap and started purring, and Mondo was like “heehee funny noise” and started mimicking it. Long story short, Mondo purrs as a stim.
- He’s the best adoptive big brother ever. Are you an only child, or just temporarily sad for some reason? Boom, Mondo’s your big brother now. No, no, don’t fight it.
- After befriending Kiyotaka, Mondo went to his French class for the first time in his school career. (He picked it because it was an easy A.) Listening to his teacher, he realized very quickly that she was not a native speaker, nor had she learned from a native speaker. He was quiet for a solid five minutes and then said, in perfect French, “What the fuck are you talking about??”
- Dyslexia makes it so that letters and words are hard for him to understand. But numbers? Ohoho he knows all about those little bitches! Because of this, he’s shockingly good at subjects like Algebra and Calculus.
Angst: (CW: Abandonment, dissociation, child abuse, neglect, violence)
- Mondo’s dad was a real piece of shit to both his wife and kids. Unfortunately, Moselle, his mother, could only find one way to cope with it. She dissociated to the point where she couldn’t recognize her children.
- Daiya and Mondo didn’t know what was wrong with her, so they always said that “Maman is just away.”
- While Daiya was busy trying to take care of his little brother, Mondo dedicated himself to taking care of their mother. Despite Moselle not being able to do much more than basic self-care, Mondo was convinced that she was just sick, and that they needed to help her get better.
- I won’t go into heavy details, but Mondo and Daiya ended up homeless. After the trauma of what he went through with his parents, Mondo went entirely nonverbal for several years.
- One day, while Daiya was away looking for a source of income, Mondo was mugged while alone. A shot through the shoulder left him on the floor looking for help. No one bothered until Officer Takaaki Ishimaru came along. He got Mondo to a hospital just in time.
- Because of nights spent outside, Mondo tends to get Wind Anxiety. When the wind blows fast enough to be heard from inside, Mondo automatically starts shivering. It doesn’t matter if he actually feels cold or not, it’s just an unfortunate muscle memory.
- Mondo doesn’t remember a lot about his childhood, but he finds he can’t forget what his mother’s face looked like just before her death. He refuses to sleep most days because his dreams are full of her eyes looking directly at him.
- Daiya doesn’t remember a thing, but Mondo refuses to remind him. He’d rather Daiya live in blissful ignorance than have him suffer the way Mondo has.
- Mondo still goes nonverbal sometimes, so he likes to wear a face mask. He looks intimidating in that, so no one tries to talk to him when he’s wearing it. Win-win.
- While the Crazy Diamonds is genuinely fun, it’s not a healthy environment for Mondo in the slightest. There’s a large minority of members who still think he’s too weak to be in the gang. They constantly try to pester and bully him into retiring early.
- It was even worse when Daiya was still in charge. Almost everyone hated him. He would get into fights, people would tell him that he should get into a crash and die so that they wouldn’t have to deal with him anymore. It was rough.
- Even so, Mondo stayed quiet about it. These people were like family to Daiya, and Mondo didn’t want to be the reason Daiya lost any more family. When Daiya asked why he’d come home with bruises all over, Mondo would blame it on a rival gang.
- The first time Hiroko met Mondo, she gave him a hug. She did that thing moms do, cradling the back of his head and neck with her hand protectively. Mondo absolutely melted.
Platonic Pairings:
Mondo + Kyoko:
- These two mean. So much to me.
- They are both black cat coded but in completely different ways. Like Kyoko is a mysterious and dark Witch’s Familiar, and Mondo is a moody dumbass who likes snuggles.
- Kyoko’s love language isn’t physical affection. But she spontaneously decides to cuddle with Mondo for an hour and a half to the second, and then silently leaves.
- Mondo joins Kyoko on her murder investigations sometimes. He contributes practically nothing, he’s just here to hang out. Kyoko appreciates his presence anyway.
Mondo + Chihiro:
- Okay this one’s just obvious.
- I don’t even think I need to say anything about this.
Mondo + Toko:
- Mwah. Delicious.
- I think that Mondo would hate the way Byakuya treats Toko, and would start aggressively defending her.
- He starts “training” her in order to try and get her confidence up.
- Like, Toko wears a rubber band around her wrist that Mondo snaps every time she self-deprecates. Pavlov her into positive self talk, y’know?
- Toko tells Byakuya to go fuck himself and Mondo stands in the background, wiping a tear from his eye.
Mondo + Celeste:
- Sibling energy frfr.
- They scream at each other in French, but would go to war for each other no questions asked.
- They shit-talk other people together.
- Celeste forces him to wear his hair down every now and again because “The big hair distracts from your pretty face!”
- Mondo points out that she’s a hypocrite. Celeste doesn’t care.
- These two fight so much but there’s no real animosity behind it. Not that anyone around them can tell. Everyone else thinks that they just plain hate each other.
Mondo + Gundham:
- Childhood friends. Hear me out.
- Mondo found a really sick stray puppy when he was little and rushed him to the vet. The vet said that since Mondo didn’t have any money, there was nothing they could do. Mondo was really upset.
- Baby Gundham came up behind them like “You foulest of fiends! It would seem your soul has been buried under stone, if you have it in you to turn away a creature in need. Worry not, mortal, for I, the great Gundham Tanaka, will help you restore this dark beast to its rightful glory!”
- Baby Mondo was like “Okay lol” and they both left.
- That’s how Mondo got Chuck.
Mondo + Mikan:
- Hoo boy!!
- Mondo is in the infirmary a lot due to obvious reasons, so it’s only natural that he would be friendly with the nurse.
- Every time Hiyoko or someone else tries to come in and bully Mikan, Mondo picks them up by the neck and throws them out.
- It’s gotten to the point where, even if Mondo isn’t there, Mikan will just tell people “If you won’t leave me alone, I’ll call Owada!” No one fucks with that.
- Overall, having Mondo’s protection is a huge confidence boost for her.
Kay there you go.

Gundham Tanaka x Sassy Fem!Reader
Y/N was walking outside of her room when she heard humming from one of the other rooms. She got intrigued and headed towards the sound. Before she knew it, she stood at Gundham's door. She didn't know much about him. The only thing she could see was his cold exterior, and yet she always suspected there was more to this bold man. That, and her assumption that his large eye scar was makeup. Y/N sat there listening to Gundham's soft and romantic serenade and felt sad no one was there to hear his song. She eventually swooned and started to walk away from his door, muttering "Damn, Gundham...".
"Yes, Y/N?", she heard behind her. Her breath hitched as she turned around, seeing his intimidating appearance. His eyes were grey and his scar was smudged, proving her assumption was correct. His hair lacked the gel that usually held it up and fell around his face, framing it beautifully. She started stuttering, his smirk throwing her off. "Take your time, mortal.", he quietly said. Y/N rolled her eyes, saying "I'm sorry, alright? I heard-". "You heard my singing voice.", he interrupted. "You thought it was so beautiful, you just had to stop and listen?", he said with a chuckle. She glared at him, responding "Alright, you smug dick.". Gundham laughed and held his chest, making her look down and realize he was wearing a robe. It had black lace and the robe itself was dark purple, the same shade as his scarf. She blushed and looked back at him, making him smirk. "I'm wearing clothes, what is so worthy of blushing?", he asked. Y/N glanced away from him, saying "Sorry... I've never really seen anyone like this.". "What, in a robe?" he again asked, slightly laughing. "Look, dude. I didn't mean to interrupt your serenading, so can I leave now?". Gundham shrugged, saying "If you want to. But of course, I could use someone to serenade.". Y/N turned away while flushed, only for his cold hand to meet her chin, pushing it up. He moved, almost gliding closer to her, his enchanting charm encasing her. She almost turned to putty in his arms, happily sighing. He started to move closer to her face, she could smell his cologne. Eventually, their noses began to touch, and their lips almost met. But it was at this point she slipped out from between his arms, glaring at him.
"Your little magic aura isn't gonna work on me, Tanaka.". Gundham leaned onto the doorframe, smirking and responding "Really? Correct me if I assumed incorrectly, but it seems to me it almost did.". She rolled her eyes as she began to walk away, to which he lightly tugged her arm. "You won't at least grant me one kiss?", he asked, his voice low and soft. She sighed, looking back at his sad expression. As she moved closer, his expression broke and he smiled. "I know you're faking. Oh, screw it!", Y/N said, pulling Gundham closer to her. Their eyes locked, inspecting everything about each other's faces. Not looking at the flaws, but the perfections. The two's lips met as Gundham sighed into the kiss. He broke the kiss as he cupped her face with his hands, almost whispering his next words. "Oh, my dear sweet mortal... You are but a low astral being. Please, Y/N. Come with me to see the wonders of the universe together. We shall survive, and leave this awful place... This killing game. You and I, Gundham Tanaka and his dark queen shall rule the world!".

gundham celeste and kokichi with a really catlike s/o? Not nekomimi just acts like a cat. As in an obesseion with boxes and a hatred for lasers, and climbing onto places they probably shouldnt go. Yk. Cat stuff.
gundham , celeste , and kokichi with a catlike s/o !!
--
gundham tanaka
gundham quickly picks up on the more feline behaviors that his s/o exhibits
immediately decides that it must be because that they must have been one in their past life, subsequent lives can retain traits like that, didn't you know?
as the ultimate breeder, he knows exactly how to deal with these behaviors, giving his dear s/o attention when they're snuggled up to him and giving them space when they seem to need it
though this includes some gentle scolding when he finds them napping on top of the counter again. can't reinforce bad behaviors!
head scritches? you got it. often times he'll find himself absentmindedly scratching his lover in the area behind their ears that they like
he'll never admit it, but the sound of their soft purring soothes the dark brooding soul of the supreme overlord of ice
celestia ludenberg
celestia took a bit more time to notice her lover's cat-like behaviors
however, it became glaringly obvious to her once she trusted them enough to introduce them to the second love of her life, grand bois chéri
her dear cat instantly took a liking to her partner, something that caught celeste completely by surprise, considering the cat's tendency to dislike everyone but his beloved mistress
she could leave the two of them alone for five minutes at most and come back to the two of them napping together something she couldn't help but find absolutely adorable
most of the lazy days they spent together consisted of the three laying somewhere together, one of celeste's hands petting her cat, while the other tended to her partner
she also adore dressing her lover up as well, matching outfits between the three of them like a little family?? wait just a moment! she has the perfect outfits that would fit them all amazingly!!
definitely the type to want victorian era-esuqe family portraits of them all everywhere in her dream castle
kokichi ouma
immediately uses his lover's behavior to his advantage
often baits them into taking naps in certain places that would inconvenience others
"hmmmm?? what's that, miu? [s/o] is taking a nap on your workbench so you can't work on your inventions?? that sucks! you wouldn't be so mean as to wake them up or anything...riiiight~?"
sometimes he'll tease them by pretending not to notice when they bump their head against him for attention
however, the ultimate supreme leader's resolve weakens immediately should he turn and actually look at their big, adorable eyes
he also had a field day when he became aware of their disdain for laser pointers, becoming incredibly amused by the way their eyes narrowed as they chased after the small light
he won't tease them with it...too much, and will always give them plenty of snuggles after they get tired out from it

Spontaneous Headcanons #25
Been having a lot of thoughts lately about Gundham Tanaka
Tumblr media
🐹: Once you get to know him, it's not too hard to translate what he's saying:
"Thou's familiar in this recorded quest; does he come to a terrible demise? I haven't obtained the runes necessary to prevent a terrible tide upon thee art so." = "Does the dog/cat/animal companion die in the movie? If so I'm not watching it cause I will cry and hate you forever."
"I have been through endless visits to the underworld and had many encounters with the devil himself. As the Lord of Ice and Darkness, I am not afraid to face him once more." = "Yes I am lactose Intolerant. No I don't care if milk will make me sick, I'm drinking it anyway."
"Do you wish to feast on the spoils of my trialing journey?" = "I made cookies, you want one?"
🐹: You can tell when he's genuinely laughing and smiling by two things: 1.) His eyes crinkle in the corners when he smiles and he has one dimple. Also he covers his mouth with a fist. 2.) His real laugh is deep and soft, very soothing sounding compared to his "Muahhahhaha!" laugh. Also he pig snorts. Alot.
🐹: He gives honorary titles to his friends when they get close enough. "Lord of Puzzles and Mysteries." (Hajime) "Heiress of the Sirens and Soundwaves". (Ibuki), "Queen of Shadows and Light" (Sonia) "...Souda" (Souda) (OI!-)
🐹: One time Sonia and Ibuki put little party hats on the Dark Devas for his birthday. At the time he was all: "My Deva's are not playthings for you to dress as you please!" but he still has the picture of them all wearing the hats as his background on his phone. They all knew he secretly loved it.
🐹: One time Nekomaru offered to give him a back massage after they trained together. Gundham accepted it at the time but all but gave up immediately after cause it tickled too much (He's used to incredibly light tickles due to the Devas. Harder/Squeezier ones he can't handle at all.) His "massage" turned into a full blown tickle attack akrjkarkjjkr
🐹: He's all talk and confidence until you kiss him on the cheek. Then he gets super flustered and hides in his scarf. Sonia loves doing this especially, but sometimes simple gestures like a squeeze to the shoulder or a hug from friends will make him fluster just as much. He's secretly into all that physical affection!
🐹: Speaking of- Gundham gives really good hugs. He's tall and he always smells good, despite working with animals all the time. When he hugs someone- especially when you're close- he puts all his strength in it (without hurting you) for maximum hug potential. He might be a bit flustered while doing so, but he'll put all his Dark Lord energy into it if he knows you need one.
🐹: A really good singer but horribly shy about it. You might get lucky and catch him singing along to something under his breath when he's taking care of his animals or studying, but if you flat out ask him to sing he'll laugh and tell you "When the world ends for good." (Might be slightly shaky in his declaration- again; he's shy lols)
🐹: Don't let his outer shell fool you- Gundham bleeds easily. Hurtful words and gestures stick around a lot longer than he likes to admit, and it's easy to tell when he's been stung by the softness in his voice and the droop to his shoulders. He'll never admit it though, he'd rather pretend he's merely angry at such remarks than wounded by them. Try to be gentle with him.
🐹: If if his words don't always match up to his actions, he does truly love his friends. He'll send his Devas out with little gifts for them (Guitar picks for Ibuki, a freshly picked flower for Sonia, a new screwdriver for Souda, etc.) or give them a boost of encouragement in his funny way of speaking. He's a little rough around the edges but there's no denying Gundham's a pretty grand person.

on their way to go watch the barbie movie!!! ok but now i wanna ramble a bit about soudam movie dates teehee feel free to keep reading
aight ok so gundam has a less strong reaction towards movies (unless it’s animal related, he will then fall to his knees and start monologuing) (or he will start bawling his eyes out if it's sad). kazuichi my boy, on the other hand, is a major pussy. his reactions are always pure and utter raw emotion, if it's scary he will shit his pants, if it's sad he will be a destroyed sobbing mess, etc. etc. it's literally just souda being souda.
gundam's favorite genre is horror, cuz ooh spooky and nice film direction, while kazuichi obv likes action and comedy and what not. (i'd also like to think both of them like animated movies/shows/TV in general, since they probably grew up with it so they bond over that too) gundam's not as fond of comedy but will watch it because he likes seeing kazuichi giggle and laugh and just having fun :,,,,3
kazuichi tries to return the favor by watching horror films with gundam, but unfortunately he always gets scared shitless less than halfway through. but hey, free cuddles!!! i love them SO SO MUCH ARGHHHHHHHHHH i want to squeeze them until they pop /pos
anyways thanks for reading my ramblings here's a lil sonia doodle as a treat

Hajime: (Turns to See his Girlfriend, Ibuki Mioda, Laying Next to Him on her Side of his Bed with a Small Smile) Oh, Morning, Ibuki. Never really took you for the early bird.
Ibuki: Uh nooo. Ibuki is a late bird. The latest of all birds and mammals.
Hajime: Pretty sure birds doesn't fit in the mammals category-
Ibuki: Upupup! Ibuki doesn't need to hear any lecture in animal studies right now. (Points at her Boyfriend) And YOU, my darling Hajime, don't need to be up this early in the morning either!
Hajime: ('Sigh') Come on, Ibuki. 8'o clock isn't nearly thar early. (Rubs the Back of hos Head Back and Forth) At.....least depending on which time zone we're currently on.
Ibuki: (Rolls his Eyes) Time Zone, Lime Snoze.
Hajime: (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) Is "Snoze" even a real wor-
Ibuki: (Extends her Arms Up in the Air) Doesn't matter!! What does, however, is.....(Points at Hajime Again) YOU, mister, are need of a long dseeved and appointed a day off! Especially after all the work you've been doing as of late.

Ibuki: Long? Yeah, yeah, I noticed. (Forms a Bright Smile on her Face) Luckily for you, my dear, Ibuki has taken the liberties of convincing our wonderful group of friends/family to do them all for you in your humble place.
Hajime: Is that right?
Ibuki: Yep-Yep-Yep!~ in fact, I've arranged a few buddy systems to help get everything done in a much quicker. I have Fuyu and Peko work on the paperwork......

Peko: (Giggles a Bit) Perhaps. (Places her Hands onto Both of her Boyfriend's Shoulders and Gently Massages Them a Bit) But just continue to stay calm and remember who we're doing this for.
Fuyuhiko: (Takes a Deep Breath) Right. This is for Hajime.
Peko: (Happily Nodded) Correct. Stay strong, my dear (Gives Fuyuhiko a Kiss on the Cheek) I believe in you.
Fuyuhiko: (Starts Blushing a Bit While Grinning at his Girlfriend) ('Heh') Right back at you. (Gets Himself Up and Gives Peko a Peck on the Lips) Hon~ (Winks a Peko)

'THUD'
The suddenly loud thudding sound was more than enough to cause the Ultimate Princess to shriek in terror while jumping onto Akane's arms, causing her drop the pictures she was holding in her hands.
Akane: (Equally Surprised) What the heck!?
???????: GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! SPENDID!!!
The ladies and the audience turns to see their Ultimate Manager, Nekomaru Nidia, laying down on a crated ground, laughing wholeheartedly.
Nekomaru: Ahh man! Been a long while since I've felt THIS much adrenaline smacking me so hard across tye face! You weren't kidding when you said weren't gonna hold any punches, huh Gundham?
Gundham: ('Heh') (Walks Over to the Crate he Created) Of course. There's never been a time of day where someone as powerful as I, Gundham Tanaka, has ever hold back from a challenge, much less from someone as fairly formidable as you I suppose.
Nekomaru: (Chuckles Lightly) D'aww thanks, man! You flatter me. (Puts on a Determined Grin on his Face) But don't think for a second I'm throwing in the towel just-
?????: BOYS!
The duo turns to see their respective girlfriends, Sonia and Akane, glaring at the both of them.
Nekomaru: Oh uhhhh....(Chuckles Awkwardly) Heh-Hey there, ladies!
Gundham: (Turns Away While Covering his Mouth Up with the Scarf He's Wearing) I take it you're....('Clears Throat') N-Not too.....Happy with us, aren't you?
Sonia: (Crosses her Arms) There is not a single smile appear on either of our faces now, is there?
Akane: Yeah! How are you guys having yourselves an intense bout in the middle of the beach and not invite ME along for the chaos! Like, come on!
Sonia: (Turns to Akane with a Pout While Making Angry Princess Noises)
Akane: What? You know how pumped I get when it comes to sparring matches. (Raises an Eyebrow at the Boys) You guys WERE having friendly sparring match, right?
Nekomaru: Yeah.
Gundham: Why wouldn't we be?
Akane: (Smiles Brightly) Yep! Friendly Sparring Match.
Sonia: (Softly Facepalms Herself While Sighing)
............................................................................................
Ibuki: Then, Ibuki let Teruteru handle breakfast, lunch, and dinner like he always do since, you know, he's the Ultimate Cook-
Hajime: Chief, Ibuki.
Ibuki: Cook, Chief, Tomatoes, Tamotoes, same thing! Ooh! And lastly, Ibuki has Nagito and Sodaman handle the video chat meeting with Naegi and Co!
Hajime: (Eyes Widened at What his Girlfriend Just Said) I'm sorry, you assigned NAGITO, of all people, to participate in the same meeting Makoto is apart of?
Ibuki: (Gently Rubs Hajime's Arm) Relax, Haji-Bear. I already said Sodaman is taking part of the meeting too remember? I'm sure it'll go along just fiiine.
Jabberwalk Meeting Office Room
Naegi: (Speaking on Soda's Tablet) So, in conclusion, with our separate ideas, cooperation, and hardwork intertwine, I believe they would all be more than enough to rebuild a much better version of Hope Peak's Academy than it ever was before. Do we have any questions before we continue?
Nagito: (Raises his Hand Up) Excuse me, Naegi-san.
Soda: (Starts Sweating Bullets) (Pleasedon'taskaboutanythingHoperelated Pleasedon'taskabiutanythingHoperelated Pleeeease don't ask about anything Hope-related!)
Nagito: I would like to ask you about classes you will include in the academy
Soda: ('Sighs in Pure Relief') (Ohhh thank god...)
Nagito: (Smiles Brightly) As well as how much Hope you are willing to provide for each one!~
Soda: (DAMN IT!)
.........................................................................................
Hajime: ..........You know, maybe I should check up on those two. (Gets Himself Up From the Bed) See how they're doing and what-Woah! (Gets Pulled Back Down on the Bed by Ibuki)
Ibuki: (Comically Glares at Hajime) Not on my watch, mister! You need R&R and you're gonna get it!!
Hajime: Ibuki, I'm only gonna check up on them for a few minutes or so and I'll come back here before you know it, I promise!
Ibuki: (Starts Whining and Singing at the Same Time) Noooooooooooo!~
Hajime: (Sighs While Trying his Hardest Not to Snicker at Ibuki's Cute and Scratchy Vocals) Come on, Ibuki, you gotta trust me on this.
Ibuki: (Gives Hajime a Serious Look on her Face) Do you trust our friends, Hajime? Do you trust me even?
Hajime: (Taken Aback by Ibuki's More Serious Look) What? Ibuki, of course I trust you guys, you're practically family to me. Nagito too, even if I am still iffy on him half the time.
Ibuki: ('Sigh') Yeah, Ibuki always get weird vibes from that guy since day one......(Softens her Serious Demeanor a Bit) It really means a lot that you think so highly of us, Haji. (Rapidly Poking her Boyfriend's Chest) But you need to put more faith in us than that, you big, cute dumb-dumb!!~
Hajime: Will you ease up on the poking already!? ('Sighs in Defeat and Understanding') But you're right. We have been through far too many hells and back to get to where we are right now together. And it's high time that we set aside our doubts and continue to build our trust and bond for a brighter future going forward.
Ibuki: (Nodded in Agreement With a Proud Grin on her Face) ('Hmph') That's right!~ But you wanna know what else you need, Haji?
Hajime: Hm?
Ibuki: (Happily Hugs Her Boyfriend) A nice, relaxing Cuddling Session!~ (Starts Snuggling onto Hajime) Starring your cute, rock n' roll girlfriend who wants to hug and kiss you all day long~ (Starts Puckering Up her Lips)
Hajime: (Chuckles Lightly) Alright, come here you~
Hajime leans over to give his girlfriend the make out session she very much deserves.
Ibuki: Oh Hajime~ ('Mmwah') Ibuki loves you ('Mwah') Ohh so much!~ ('Mmmwah')
Hajime: I know~ I love you too, Ibuki. Thank you for convincing me to do this and for....(Smiles Sheepishly While Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth) Putting up with a workaholic like myself for so long~
Ibuki: (Giggles Softly) Don't worry about it!~ You know Ibuki always got your back. (Continues Kissing Hajime) Ibuki~ ('Mwah') will never. EVER. Leave your side~ Ever!~ ('Mmwah')
Hajime: Likewise. (Eye's Widened a Bit) But wait, what about our band practice? Didn't you say you have new song you've been working on?
Ibuki: Yeah, but we can postpone our Jam Session for today, I don't mind. Now, give me some more loving!~
Hajime: (Chuckles Lightly) Yes, ma'am~
The lovers lay back down on their bed as their relaxing Cuddle Session has now finally begun.

PURPLE LIPSTICK~
Gundham Tanaka x GN! Reader
Hello again lovelies!!!! This is as you can see another Gundham post! And yes, same person requested this fluffy fic! It's based off the idea of if you have a partner who wears lipstick and kisses you you get lipstick all over your face, BUUUUTTTTT~~~~~ it's reversed!
Now that the general explanation is done onto the story!!!!!!!!!!!
Warnings: None other than it being pure fluff!
Tumblr media
It was like any other day to you, you were sitting in the lobby of the hotel and were talking with everyone around you. Mainly it was Togami talking but you all would say things on occasion! There WAS one thing bothering you thought and everyone could see it plain as day. " Hey (Y/N)? You alright there? You seem a little more pale than you usually are when talking with everyone! "
The voice of the island redhead, Mahiru, broke you from your slight daze and back to everyone around you " Oh. I-It's nothing! I'm just thinking. . . . . " you were thinking, but you were more specifically thinking about your boyfriend who was missing along with Ibuki. You Haven't seen Gundham since 12:00 and you haven't seen Ibuki since your weird run in together.
Tumblr media
You were checking in with everyone as you usually do, but in truth you were trying to find gundham.
He hasn't popped up in 19 minutes and you are kinda scared someone decided to go against your truce you made the first day here and kill him in hopes to leave like you all wanted to do. That's when you noticed Ibuki throwing things out of her room trying to find something. You called out in hopes to ask her like you did everyone else.
" Hey Ibuki! Have you seen Gun- " you got cut off as she seemed to panic and hid something behind her back " NOPE! HAVEN'T SEEN HIM! GOODBYE! " she ran away towards another hut, falling over sometimes might I add, while you stood there confused as all hell to what just happened.
Tumblr media
That was about 5 hours ago. Looking at the clock you see it's 6, you promised Gundham before he disapeared because of some sort of special surprise he had been planning for over a week that you'd be back by 8. " I have to go guys, Gundham's probably wondering where I am. " Teruteru gave a slight laugh as you said your goodbyes to everyone " Well don't start screaming like you're dying then! We all still need to sleep! "
You turned red while shaking Togami's hand at Teruteru's words, you headed to the door after letting go of his hand (Not before smacking Teruteru on the head and out of his chair. . .) You said your final goodbye before closing the door behind you. It wasn't night yet but you could see where the sun fell and how the moon was peaking out, You embraced yourself and rub your arms from not bringing anything warm to protect you from the breeze " Yup, definitely hurrying there! ". You started to speed-walk towards you and gundham's shared hut to get out of the cold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Closing the door behind you, you see that the lights are off and the little fireplace Soda built for everyone's seperate hut's was the only thing illuminating the room. It was quite. . . . . . . . . . Way to quite considering Gundham would be greeting you right now. You start looking around for him but don't find him anywhere, you start feeling quite nervous and slightly scared thinking the worst has happened.
You were about to grab a coat and go out to find him until two familiar pale arm's wrap around you and someone lay's their head on your shoulder, you tense up slightly but relax once you hear Gundham's voice. " I thought you would come home late again bunny...... " his voice was sad and his arm's tighten around you, But you know it wasn't him being actually sad! Nonononono, what was in his voice can only be described as DESPERATION. He didn't want you to come home early today, that much you can guess. " I got real worried is all, you dissapeared all day! I thought someone killed you. . . . . " you acted upset but it quickly became a giggling fit as Gundham's hands start to tickle you, hearing him let out a short laugh of his own you try to turn around but his arms kept you facing forward " Come ooonnnnn!!!!! You can't get upset with me when I was setting up your surprise! " He stopped tickling you as you caught your breath, he took your hand still facing away from you and led you to a small love seat near the fireplace
(Back off ya' horny bitches!🤺)
" And what might this surprise entail? " you were naturally curious, he had been hiding it for over a week. Gundham sat down on the seat first still having your hand " Gundham wha-WHOA! " he pulled you down drawing a giggle from you before he started to pepper kisses all over your face. Each one came with it's own ' I love you ' or some sort of praise, you felt like the girls in school when you were younger who always got so excited over the attention from their boyfriend and kisses they'd get. " -heheh! Gundham slow down! Your gonna smuther me! " you tried speaking through your giggle fit but Gundham wasn't letting up
To think this took over a week, he does this whenever on a daily basis anyway! ' Finally Gundham stopped while having a slight smile on his face. You recovered from the onslaught of affection and looking at Gundham you noticed- Wait. Is that-
Purple??????
You looked at Gundham slightly suspicious now " Darling. Why is there purple all over your face? " he started chuckling as you got off his lap and went to a nearby mirror " Surprise! " you heard gundham yell as you looked at your purple covered face in shock. Each mark had the outline of a kiss while some were smudged or overlayed others, looking down you noticed a lipstick stick on the table below recognizing it " Ibuki! "
You picked it up and made your way back to a chuckling gundham before stopping in front of him and crossing your arms " She helped you didn't she? " you were trying to be serious but you were smiling as well, this was both a surprise and sweet. " Y-Yeah....... I know you've been kinda worried lately since the truce and I wanted to give you something as a gift so you wouldn't be as stressed! " sitting back down in his lap you smiled down at him.
" Well Mister! I think I also want to give a gift to you~. " He visibly gulped as you applied the purple lipstick on before smiling mischievously " Now come here! " he yelped as you began to kiss his entire face avoiding his lips, he became putty as you cupped his cheeks before pulling back smiling. He was completely purple now.
Letting out a quick laugh you place a kiss on his lips which makes him go completely limp. " There, now we both got a gift! " you cubbled close to him as he, though still very boneless, wrapped his arms around you as the fire kept you both warm and provided a light for y'all. He rested his head ontop of yours with a dopey smile on his face " Love you bunny~... " his voice was lazy but you smiled pulling yourself closer to him " Love you too Gundham~! ".
With that being said you both closed your eyes enjoying each other's embrace and thinking to yourselves-
' I should try doing it again '
Tumblr media
Here we go! I hope you enjoyed this story! Comments are open for anything I need to fix in the story and request page is open for y'all! Byeeeeee!!!!!!
day six ;; gundham tanaka
Tumblr media
“darling?” he called from your bedroom upon hearing you arrive home, “please, join me in our sanctuary, I’ve prepared a surprise for you.”
you smiled, gundham knew what a special month for you it was, and so he wanted to contribute to your happiness in his own way.
“coming, baby!”
you smiled, taking off your shoes and slipping on your slides as you made your way to the bedroom.
upon opening the door, you smiled, almost wanting to cry.
he’d set up new blankets in the varying shades of the bi flag, he had lit candles that sat on either side table of your big bed that smelled of vanilla and cedarwood, him sitting on his rocking chair with the devas all arranged in little blue, purple, and pink bowties, and then you finally noticed the glowing stars he’d hung and stuck to your ceiling, knowing your love for them.
“awh, my love this is beautiful.” you smiled, reaching to your eyes, and he returned it, carefully setting down the devas and standing up to make his way to you, wrapping his arms around you comfortingly.
“my paramour, this is the least I can do for your special time of the year, so please, let me treat you like the royalty you are. you deserve it for all you trek through in this miserably intolerable existence, gaining this month purely because your heart lies in two directions. let me love you my darling, I wish to see you shine like the stars on our ceiling.”
you teared up, his beautiful vocabulary and comfortingly deep voice made you smile and bury your head into his thick chest.
“thank you, gunny. this means so much to me.”
“just as you do for me, my starlight.” he kissed your head, running his ringed fingers through your locks. “let us relax, hm? I’ve prepared a bath for you, we mustn’t let the water get cold.”
you nodded, smiling more, as you walked with him to your bathroom, the devas following your trail as the door shut.
;;-;;
I hope you enjoyed day six!!
UGH I love gundham so much, I need to write him more.
also yes I used the same colored bowtie idea for this that I did for minho’s kitties, so fight me 🙄
anyways, feel free to request gundham ideas, I’d love to write them!
stay safe lovelies <3
hello! Could i request Gundham and Selestia with reader who can be low key and shy, but sometimes he is actually chaos? I really like your blog
Of course, anon! Sorry for the delay, but I hope you enjoyed the outcome. Have a great night!
-Mod Celeste
Tumblr media
Gundham Tanaka and Celestia Ludenberg with a shy but chaotic s/o:
Gundham:
-He REVELS in your glory. You have the ability to catch people of guard because of the duality of your nature, and he's all for it.
-Any trouble you may cause isn't a big deal to Gundham, since he knows you mean no harm. Plus, a simple "oops, I'm sorry" will make him blush.
-People are terrified of the chaotic forces you two hold. Whether it's evil-to-the-core antagonist energy or silly villain energy is up to you.
-Gundham will introduce you in very grandiose ways: "BEHOLD, mere mortals, the only companion strong enough to be at my side: y/n."
-They turn to see a nervous wave from you, baffled by the announcement.
Celeste:
-She lives for chaos as well, though she's much more coy about it than you. Celeste enjoys how you liven up her days.
-"Oh my, what have you gotten yourself into today?" She'll say, but inside she enjoys your hijinks.
-People do not often mess with you two. The aura you give off is... indescribably unsettling.
-She admires that you have a bit of a shy side, too. It's cute to her. It reminds her of before she learned the ways of the gambler: having a poker face.
dating gundham tanaka
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: gundham tanaka x gn!reader
tags: fluff, established relationship
Tumblr media
gundham is very confused about his feelings for you, believing he is incapable of loving someone and yet he has those special feelings towards you
he can barely handle it, having to come up with excuses as to why he ended up falling in love with you
you must have cast a spell on him to make him feel this way! this had to be a curse!
and yet, he ends up giving in to his feelings and confesses to you in such an honest way that is uncharacteristic for him
whenever others ask him how the two of you got together, he simply brushes it off as "being bound together by fate for eternity" and lets them wonder what that even means
gundham is very protective of you, always looking out for evil spirits within the people that get close to you
he isn't aware that he's actually a little jealous, instead brushing it off as his duty as your boyfriend and protector to keep you away from cursed people
gundham isn't good at expressing his emotions, but luckily you seem to understand him better than he understands himself
gundham is easily flustered and blushes quite often, yet trying to hide his face behind his scarf
he'll often call you names like "his beloved dark deity" in public, but when it's just the two of you, he'll switch to more sweeter and animal themes nicknames like "teddy bear" "mouse" "bunny" or "puppy"
and speaking of animals, once you and gundham are close enough, he'll allow you to co-parent his hamsters with him!
(NEW!) Super Danganronpa 2 boys reaction to: their S/O thinking they were going to hurt them - COMMISSION
You feral beasts have been asking for this for like two years LMAO. Someone finally commissioned me to do it so let's get it!
V3 boys version link
The reader's pronouns are never mentioned, so anyone can read this with themselves in mind!
Word Count:  13k words!! 4.8k of those words are Nagito's section alone, as the commissioner requested for Nagito's to be longer than the rest (Please show this some love my hands hurt)
Trope/Scenario: A couple is in an argument or stressful situation. One partner moves suddenly, maybe to ruffle their hair or wipe sweat from their face, maybe grab something or gesture as they yell, but their S/O cowers/flinches at the sudden movement, and braces themselves or cries out, thinking their partner was about to hit/hurt them. Then, the angst ends in fluff with the other partner expressing that they would never hurt their beloved. I will make variations to this base concept to spice up the piece and fit the characters because we DON'T do O.O.C. here!
WARNINGS: SPOILERS FOR ALL OF SDR2/SDR2 CONTEXT NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND SOME SECTIONS - additionally, SFW sexual content-wise, but mature themes are explored like explicit language, possessiveness, abuse, and unhealthy relationships. Remember, the games themselves are rated M.
Nagito Komaeda
It all happened so fast. You’d begged them not to do it. It didn’t need to go down that way. This never would’ve happened if they’d just listened to you.
It all happened so fast. One second your friends, your best and only friends, were piling onto your boyfriend, pinning him to the ground of the hotel lobby and the next, the world became an explosion of fiery red. A loud blast rang in your ears like a flash bomb or a gunshot fired off right beside your head without protective equipment. Kazuichi went flying, the back of Akane’s clothes were aflame. Fuyuhiko took on an expression you’d never thought you’d see from the resident tough guy of the group: eyes wide in genuine terror, mouth agape as he dove forward and away from the blast.
You begged them not to do this. Don’t corner him. Don’t force his hand. You knew him better than anyone else. And they didn’t listen to you.
You’d all grouped up before hand (minus Nagito of course) to discuss what to do about him. He was getting more and more unhinged as the days went on. Before the funhouse, everyone except for you saw him as a bit crazy, a nuisance, a freak but safe at a distance. Now… he was clearly a danger to himself and others. He knew something you all didn’t, and it was sending him into the self righteous hope power trip of the century. Something was so very different from the Nagito you knew and loved.
You’d warned them that it wouldn’t be like last time. He wouldn’t submissively let them tie him up in the old building and wait to be fed or released by Monomi. He was on the warpath now. You knew him. Once he got an idea in his head, that was it.
Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi had dismissed you immediately. You loved him. You’d do anything to protect that freak. They weren’t gonna heed your warning, because at the end of the day, you cared about him just a little more than you cared about the rest of them. Hajime and Sonia, even Chiaki - the more compassionate members of the group - had looked at you with pity in their eyes. They knew the last thing you wanted was to see your boyfriend tied up or hurt, and they felt for you, but at this point, the main focus had to be figuring out who put them on this island so they could escape, and preventing more death. Nagito was getting in the way of that. He needed to be restrained.
You never thought it would be like this, though. You knew he’d retaliate this time, that he’d resist, but maybe in the form of a struggle with his attacker: a punch, a kick, running away, hiding… not a fucking bomb.
As the explosion rang out from behind you, sending you leaping forward defensively, the world seemed to move in slow motion.
How could he do this? It’s one thing to fight off those who are actively trying to subdue you, but to blow up the entire hotel? He was really willing to hurt or even kill everyone too close to the blast, even those with little to nothing to do with the plan? What about you, who he claimed to love, who was his shining hope, who had been the only one in his corner at all times? He was willing to just blow you away as well?
Time sped up again, and you sat with your legs crossed in the rubble, ash and sweat smearing your skin. You just sat there, breaths hitching in your throat as you held back tears that threatened to fall. It felt like you were in a trance as you sat and thought this all over. Nevermind the flames at your back or smoke in the air. Why, why, why???
It wasn’t the little bit of blood running down your arm or the ringing in your ears that broke through your haze, but the clap of a hand on your shoulder blade. You turned and looked up at Hajime, dust in his hair and a cut on his cheek. The white uniform shirt he always wore was stained up and torn in one area.
“Hey, (Y-Y/N)!” He coughed, soot in his throat. “Are you alright? Come on, we gotta get out of here! Smoke’s not-” a beam collapsed behind him, startling him as he hooked his hands under your armpits and lifted you from your seated position. “Come on, this smoke’ll kill you!” You stood with his help, still halfway in a state of shock, and in truth embarrassment that the one you constantly defended from your group of peers had done all this…
“Is everyone…” you spoke weakly, your mind flashing to the safety of your friends.
“Everyone else is out. They’re safe, let’s go!” Hajime guided you out the way he came in looking for you, past a flipped couch and under a fallen beam. Once out in the fresh air, you regrouped with the rest, all in various states of shaken up.
Sonia immediately rushed over to you, ripping the red bow tie from her neck and dabbing the cut on your arm with the fabric before wrapping it around the wound. You thanked her with a nod. Akane, usually a bit scantily-clad anyway, had most of her remaining clothes singed off or torn. She looked more defeated then you’d seen her since Nekomaru’s death. She’d probably bounce right back soon though, knowing her. Fuyuhiko looked more pissed than usual, sitting by the pool alone. Kazuichi was being tended to by Chiaki. You overheard her saying Monomi would be bringing medical supplies and helping transport those seriously injured to the hospital for a quick check up. The students protested, however, wanting to stick together in the resort and heal up in their cabins. Your eyes bounced around the group, looking for someone in particular, though you didn’t know why.
Why? Were you truly that delusional? You must’ve been under some type of love hex. Had you Stockholm Syndrome’d yourself into being blind to his every fault? You couldn’t help it - you couldn’t deny the feelings you retained.
“Where’s…?” Your words faded off, thinking better of it. Maybe this was the wrong time. They probably didn’t want to hear about the dude who just tried to send them on a one way trip to heaven. It was too late, your words had been picked up by Fuyuhiko’s relatively undamaged ears.
“Are you fuckin’ kidding me?” He scoffed, yelling over from the pool. “He ran off as soon as he got the chance. Didn’t waste a second to make sure you were okay. You’re still worried about that asshole? He just tried to fucking kill us! You must be as crazy as him. I’m starting to think so, at this point…”
“Fuyuhiko…” Sonia warned, a small frown creasing her porcelain face. Fuyuhiko sighed deeply, backing off the attack. He didn’t mean that last bit, he was just frustrated. He threw in the towel, too tired to continue putting up a fight. The old Fuyuhiko would've laid into you a little longer. True to his word, he was a changed man. He shook his head and went silent, disappointed in you to say the least.
You were a bit disappointed in yourself as well, frankly. Why did you still want to see him so badly, to make sure he wasn’t hurt, to make sure he knew you still cared? You didn’t know what you’d even do if you saw him again. The mix of fear, confusion and foolish adoration was potent within you right now.
After assessing everyone’s needs and injuries, it was decided that you all were to go to your cabins and rest for the night. Tomorrow, you would go as a group to the new island unguarded by its Monobeast and resume the search for the truth and freedom.
“Everyone just… yell as loud as you can, or run out of your cabin and alert the others if… if anything happens,” He looked you in the eyes as he spoke those last few words. Hajime chose the phrasing carefully but you all knew what he meant:
If Nagito came around looking to further this deranged and deadly plan of his.
They said as he ran off he was blabbering on, yelling about the “end of Jabberwock Island” and such. It was pretty clear to the entire group that whatever he had in mind would mean chaos and peril for everyone still left alive.
~
Now back in your cabin, the sun had long since set as you continued to pace back and forth across the floor, from the full length mirror on your sliding closet door, to the entrance, then over to the small bathroom area and back again. You’d not even taken the time to shower and change your clothes. You were still a mess, your thoughts too busy to care about the blood and grime coating you.
Your mind raced, taking in everything that had happened so far in this nightmare of a class trip, taking in everything that could happen fairly soon.
Your mind bounced to Nagito, purposely being coy when you all needed his mind desperately during trials.
To Nagito, who actively tried to hurt someone in the very first trial, who offered to help a blackened if they ever needed him.
To Nagito, who held you close at nights and who you could open up to for hours. The same Nagito who you’d fallen for, body and mind, and who now was an object of fear and anxiety for you.
Were you really scared of him now…? Your Nagito?
A quiet knock at your door shook you out of your pacing routine. You figured it was Hajime, arranging another group meeting or maybe sweet Sonia coming to check up on you. Rushing to the door, you opened it just a crack and peeked out.
Your blood ran cold, a shiver shot down your spine. You’d never reacted to seeing him like this before. Not even close.
“Hello there, (Y/N). Oh wow, you look awful…” Nagito smiled gently at first, then the corners of his mouth slightly drooped, downturned at the state of you. You looked yourself up and down once quickly, now acknowledging that you had in fact forgotten to wash up, overwhelmed by the day. A moment passed with your heart beat picking up quickly, and you began to merely stare at him silently through the crack, unsure of how to proceed. Should you scream? Should you warn the others? Even if Nagito wouldn’t hurt you, what if he made his rounds to the other cabins and hurt the others? He wouldn’t hurt you, right? That assumption of yours was correct, right? You weren’t so sure anymore. “Well, are you gonna just stand there or are you gonna let me in?” He smiled innocently again before pushing his way past you and into the expanse of your personalized cabin. Your safe space.
“Nagito…” You let yourself exhale the breath you’d been holding in, turning to close the cabin door behind him. You hesitated on the door knob, contemplating making a break for it right then and there. “What are you doing here?” You tried to keep your voice steady and even, even as your chest thumped.
“What?” His brow furrowed, rounding on you as you closed shut the door and turned to face him. “What do you mean? I always hang out with you here!” Was he just not going to acknowledge today, when you literally could’ve died due to his actions? “I kinda missed it, you know, the smell of your cabin, your smell. Being in the funhouse all those days was such a bummer.” Approaching you in two strides of his long slender legs, he took you tightly into his arms, nevermind the dirt and ash that transferred from your clothes to his.
“N-Nagi-” your words were muffled into the fabric of his green jacket, and for a moment your spine stiffened, not sure how to receive the hug. You corrected yourself though, and relaxed, embracing him back. Nagito was volatile right now, extremely unstable, and you didn’t want to be perceived as disloyal, untrusting. Nothing to trigger him. He was clingy and needy with you quite often and that part you didn’t mind. You cared for him the way he was… but who he was had slowly been changing. Ever since he entered that damned Final Dead Room.
Nagito didn’t miss a thing, however, and you knew that. Your hesitation to hug him back made a blip on his radar.
“Is everything alright? How is my little ray of hope tonight?” He pulled back a bit, holding you at arm’s length to observe your features closely. This was so uncomfortable: the scrutinizing gaze, the sorry state of your body at that very moment, the sweat that began to bead on your forehead.
“Well, Nagito, you…” you wanted to soften the blow, and so took the initiative to this time hug him first, leaning your head onto his chest. This is what he wanted, right? Play along, don’t slip up. It’s funny, when your head rested flat against him and you inhaled his familiar scent, you felt that warm feeling that made you fall for him for just a second, until you began to finish your thought. “... today… earlier today… why did you do that? I mean… how could you, to me of all people? What if… I mean what if that explosion killed me?” Your heart beat sped up.
“Oh, silly, it wouldn’t have!” He replied as if the answer were obvious. “You’re my shining hope, my everything, and that bomb was only intended to disrupt the plans of those who were there to trap me! I was one step ahead my love. You were never in any true danger.” Ironic, as he ran a hand up and down the arm with the deep cut on it.
“Well, how would you know for sure? What if I were standing where Kazuichi was? He got the brunt of it…” you asked, but you knew whatever answer he had for you wouldn’t calm your aching heart.
“I relied on my luck, of course! It’s all I have to rely on now: you, and this useless ‘talent’ of mine.” His tone was bittersweet. His luck? He really left your safety up to his luck? Sure, you’d never seen it fail him before, but seriously…
“About that… Nagito,” you pulled away, expectantly unsatisfied with his reply and no less terrified of the inner workings of the man in front of you, “what’s made you feel this way, all of a sudden? Sure, our classmates were a little wary of you, but we were friends, all of us. You had them, too. What changed? In the funhouse you - well ever since the Final Dead Room, you’ve changed. In the trial, you said you’d learned about Hajime and how he doesn’t have an ultimate talent, and the secret behind the funhouse’s design… but there’s more you aren’t telling us… I can feel it.” Walking over to a chair beside your bed, you sat down, wrapping your arms around your middle defensively. You felt small and vulnerable under his gaze, which followed you like a hawk.
He didn’t like hearing that - that he’d changed - not from you. You were the only one exempt from his plans, even if you didn’t know it at the time. He loved you and you loved him, and he didn’t want anything to change about that. This couldn’t be just another thing that his miserable life ruined for him. For now, he ignored it, deciding that maybe letting you, the only one he could truly trust, in on his little plan would ease your mind and bring you back to him whole.
“You’re right as usual, my love.” He stood in the center of the room, gesturing as he began to get off of his chest all that he’d gleaned from his time in the funhouse. “How perceptive of you. My little hope is so incredibly smart. It’s one of the reasons I know you’ll guide this useless pack of idiots, including myself, to the highest potential our negligible little lives could ever reach!” How could you have guessed at that time that he meant when he and all the rest he deemed unfit were long gone, wiped from this world by his own will? “I’ll let you in on it, if my little bird promises not to chirp to the rest of the flock, of course…” He grinned at you as if he were a mischievous little kid about to announce a school prank and not a man dead set on getting his classmates killed. You nodded instinctively, not prepared at all for what you were about to hear. “Well it’s quite simple, really. We’ve known about the existence of a traitor for awhile now, right? We thought this entire time that the one of us who was not like the others was to blame for this entire thing, that the despair that ensnared us and caused death after death was caused by this ‘traitor’, right?” You nodded again, wanting desperately to appease him in any way you could. “Well, we couldn’t have had it more wrong, and as my reward for winning the ultimate roulette in the Final Dead Room, I was allowed this knowledge to share - or not share - as I please.” He was smirking now and your heartbeat began to pick up once again. You did not like that look in his eye. The pale planes of his cheeks began to get rosy with that self-satisifed expression he often donned when he knew his plans for hope were on track.
“W-what do you mean, Nagito?” Your voice shook and you sat up in your chair, shifting uncomfortably in place, a motion he noticed immediately. Again, he didn’t appreciate that reaction from you one bit. Why were you so uneasy around him tonight? His mind couldn’t comprehend it.
“Turns out, this whole time,” he held his arms out to each side as if surrendering himself to the powers that be, “It was us! We were the wicked ones. We were the despair, the disgusting evil that clouded all hope.” He began to chuckle at the irony that only he understood in his words. “This ‘traitor’ is the only one who can stop us! They are meant to save the world from the plague of our very existence!” He began to chuckle, a devious and unstable sound emanating from his core.
“H-how could you mean - I mean… Nagito, how could we be evil? Why would you think that? We have been working together to stop Monokuma this whole time. It couldn’t be -”
“Does it really matter how? It’s the truth! I know it is!” He cut you off, startling you as he approached and sank to his knees in front of your chair. Leaning in, he took your hand in his clammy, translucent one. He kissed the tops of your knuckles sweetly - a gesture he often did when you were alone together - and you went rigid, unsettled by his manic words. Another reaction he frowned at. “I mean, you believe me, don’t you? Have I ever been wrong before? Every time I tell you who the blackened is, I’m right! Every mystery I’ve uncovered on this island, every deduction I’ve shared with you and only you, has been correct! Every time I’ve been ‘wrong’ to them, I’ve chosen to play dumb. I’ve never lied to you, I wouldn’t!” He looked frantic, his eyes darting back and forth between yours. When you didn’t reply, he continued. “The traitor, they are the one, true hope for our vile and corrupted lot!” He smiled, again, as if this were the obvious conclusion one should draw from his words, but you just couldn’t see your friends as the monsters he portrayed them as. You couldn’t even see him that way. It just didn’t make sense. Maybe whatever he read in the Final Dead Room was just more lies, planted by Monokuma as a motive to sow more division. Nagito was too smart to fall for that…
“So, what is the solution, then… your plan?” You were almost too afraid to ask, having a good idea of what it would be. His frenzied grin softened into a straight and very serious line. You felt your stomach twist itself into knots.
“Well… we have to go, of course. All of us, except for the traitor.” He stated plainly. Eyes widening just a tick before going neutral again, you tried not to convey the abject fear in your heart. “We all have to die, it’s the only way. The traitor will go on, as the only ray of hope we have left.” With that, you yanked your hand from his grip, and his eye twitched in response.
He was willing to kill you all? All of your peers, your innocent peers who had been through so much already, together… snuff them out just like that?
“Nagito… you know who the traitor is, then…?” His head tilted at that, like a curious puppy confused at his owner’s words. “The one you’re going to spare, you know who it is?” Did it even matter anymore? At this point, the Nagito you loved was long gone. You needed to warn the others. His answer mattered to you personally, nonetheless. Your brow furrowed, your psyche overstimualted by this entire conversation. You pressed him. “Nagito… you know who the traitor is, right?” A little sterner this time, you waited for an answer that would never come. Almost as if he were too prideful, or maybe too ashamed to admit he would have to rely on his luck yet again to meet his goals, he ignored your question.
Chills running throughout your body, you quickly shot up out of the chair. Standing abruptly and causing the slender man to stumble back a bit, you steadied your shaking hands by balling them into fist at your side.
“(Y/N) -” Nagito began as he stood to meet you. Why were you acting like this? Didn’t you have the same goals as him? Didn’t you see the necessity of this plan? Didn’t you love him as much as he loved you? Didn’t you know that know that you - his unbreakable hope - the only pure thing on this miserable island, had to be the traitor? How could it be anyone else? He couldn’t be one hundred percent sure, as the file in the Final Dead Room didn’t name you specifically, but it just had to be you. It had to be. He would delude himself until his last breath.
“O-okay, Nagito, I agree! Yes, y-you’re right of course!” Play along, (Y/N), play along, your survival instincts screamed at you internally. Now it was Nagito’s heart that began to beat fast. He could sense a lie a mile away, and you knew that. Was he truly losing you? “Tell you what, let me shower, I can’t stand this filth on me for one more second.” You forced a nervous chuckle. “After that, I’ll meet you somewhere, um… away from the cabins so the others don’t find out, and we can discuss this further.” In reality, you were hoping that as you showered, he would leave to find a meeting place so that you could run to the other cabins and warn the others. He took a step toward you, and you took a step back in turn. He cringed at that, a hand reaching out weakly for your touch. It fell to his side when you backed away until your back was at the bathroom door and you reached behind you for the handle. “Okay? You go scope out a safe place for us to meet!” You looked for confirmation, fake smile still plastered across your face until your jaw hurt from clenching so hard.
“Okay, (Y/N)...” his heart broke at your willingness to lie straight to his face. You’d never done that before. You would always be honest with him, even with the silliest thoughts. You nodded in reassurance, slipping into the mini bathroom afforded to you by Monokuma and closing the door. It was a modest thing, a small alcove in each cabin with merely a shower stall, sink with a mirror, and toilet all snug into one tiny area. You undressed like the wind, ready to take the quickest shower of your life. Just a rinse for the blood and dirt, running the water long enough to be convincing and you were out. You needed time to run to at least a few of your classmates' cabins before Nagito got back. Whoever you got to first could spread the word. You slid the glass shower stall door open and jumped inside, not even waiting for the water to warm up.
Soaking yourself promptly, you began to scrub off the day you’d had with a small wash cloth nearby. Mere minutes into your shower, you heard the small bathroom door slam open. Freezing instantly, you halted all motion and stared at the figure in the doorway that was a blurry mess of greens, creams and whites through the frosted glass of the shower door. Without a word, the figure approached the shower door and you felt your body go into fight or flight mode, adrenaline kicking into high gear.
This was it… you thought. You were sure that if you were the traitor, you would’ve known. The traitor was still out there, hiding their identity, and now Nagito was going to do exactly what he said he was going to do. You had to go… hope for the world was the end goal that superseded romantic feelings. Your life flashed before your eyes, and you thought of your friends, and how you failed to save them.
Nagito threw open the sliding door, and you fell back against the beige tile behind you, hands flying up to protect your head and face. You didn’t know how he would kill you, but braced for an expected blow. Exposed, defenseless and naked, vital organs unprotected, you began to sob.
“No! Nagito, please!” You screamed at the top of your lungs as he entered the shower stall in a panic, clothes and all. He clapped one cold hand over your mouth, a hand that was shaking. Instantly, tears sprang forth from his own eyes. Were you really that scared of him?
“No, don’t scream, please! Please, (Y/N)!” He released your mouth, throwing his arms around your shoulders in a crushing embrace. The shower head continued to spray down, soaking him now along with you as he clung to you like his life depended on it under its stream. His wild, long locks clung to his neck and forehead and his wet jacket weighed him down. You both stood weeping onto each other freely, Nagito from a broken heart, and you from shock. You were too terrified to move, to care that you were completely nude. He didn’t seem to care either, crushing you in his grip. He was a lot stronger than he looked.
“Nagito… Nagito please…” you pleaded, still not entirely sure these weren’t your last moments.
“I can’t bear to see you terrified of me. You’re… you’re the only one…” He could barely speak through his choked out sobs. He shook his head vehemently, needy for your touch. His hands roamed up and down your back desperately. He needed to feel you there, to know you were real.
“What…?” You didn’t understand.
“You’re the only one,” he sniffled, “who shouldn’t be afraid of me! You’re my shining hope. You’re my light in this darkness!” Tears wracked his body. “Why would a complete and utter nobody like me, talentless trash undeserving of your love ever try to hurt you? I wouldn’t even dream of it. (Y/N), please don’t hate me. I couldn’t bear it!” His finger nails dug into your spine. He was conflicted, and couldn’t fight the swell of anger that contended with the sadness in his chest. It felt like you didn’t know him at all to think he would hurt you. You weren’t the despair he sought to end. You had nothing to fear.
“But, y-you said- !” You began and he interrupted, unable to hear any more doubts of his loyalty to you.
“I know you’re the traitor. I just know it! You’re too good, too perfect to not be…” You’d never heard him so unconfident in his own reasoning before.
“You can’t possibly know that, Nagito!” You spat back, limp in his arms.
“I do know it. I know it. I’ll bet my luck on it. I want it so badly, my luck has to come through. It’s you, it has to be! I could never kill you. I could never get you killed. The others are the despair, you’re the solution. I know it’s you. I’m gonna make it all right… just watch!” He stepped back, taking your puffy face in his hands, staring directly into your eyes. “You’ll make it out of here! You’ll survive the last trial and go on without me, my love. I know it’s you!” He was deceiving himself once again, daring to want something so badly, so selfishly.
He would never live to see just how wrong he was.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
You, your boyfriend Fuyuhiko, and your best friend Peko went way back. As a kid growing up on Fuyuhiko’s side of town, everyone knew to avoid Kuzuryu property. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately looking back at it, you were a pretty reckless as a kid, even if you weren’t now. You used to to slip through fences and past security cameras all the time to play with the blonde fuzzy-haired kid and the girl with the cool sword. Your parents scolded you when you came home, not knowing where you really were, but you always found your way back. The boy, who always had a temper, and the girl, who was the calm to his storm, repeatedly called you names, told you to never come back or his family would kill you, then played with you all day anyway. You had no idea what his family truly was, what the word yakuza really entailed, only that everyone said that part of town was dangerous. You didn’t see it that way, not when you played cops and robbers or samurai and peasant with your two best friends nearly every day. The boy, Fuyuhiko as you’d come to learn, would always rush you off the property if his father was coming home or when less friendly clan members came around, and you didn’t learn until years later why.
By that time it was too late for you to be scared of his yakuza status or Peko’s true strength now revealed to you. You were besties, and nothing was ever going to change that. Through middle school, you formed quite the crush on the petite bad boy, and although he still had a nasty temper and could be quite aloof at times, you wanted him all the same. A lifelong friendship bloomed into a romantic relationship - with hesitance on his part - and before you knew it, you were set to attend Hope’s Peak together. You kept your relationship secret from everyone save for Peko. Fuyuhiko insisted on this, for your own safety.
Now here you were, on this mysterious tropical island with all of your memories of Hope’s Peak wiped clean. You found that in general, many memories of your past were wiped clean, save for those few precious and essential ones. You remembered growing up with Fuyuhiko, your relationship with him, and Peko who you loved like a sister. Everyone else were strangers, strangers who seemingly also couldn’t remember how they got there or how you were all connected. You were all freshmen it seemed, and that was were it stopped.
Almost immediately after Monokuma’s appearance and monologue, Fuyuhiko had pushed both you and Peko away. He demanded you both pretend like you didn’t know him, treat him like everyone else and if need be, you’d meet in secret and away from prying eyes. This was to be a killing game with rules and trials, and no one else here seemed to know each other from their past. If the others found out you three were connected, you would no doubt all be dragged down if one of you got caught up in something nasty. Allies, a package deal and all that. He didn’t want your connection to him to put you or Peko in danger. He knew you’d both die for him, and he for you, and he wouldn’t let any of these idiots use that weakness against you.
~
The cat was long since out of the bag. Peko was gone and you’d helped Mikan nurse Fuyuhiko in and out of the hospital after his near-fatal wounds from trying to save the swordswoman from her from execution. Everyone knew of your relationship now, which meant no more sneaking around behind everyone’s back, but Peko’s life wasn’t the price you ever wanted to pay for that freedom. Along with Peko’s passing additionally came a visible change in your boyfriend’s soul. Though he still had that fiery temper, he controlled it with great effort now. He tried harder with people, forgave easier, loved better, appreciated more. The days of reflection in the hospital stirred something in him.
Weeks passed, and it was one tragedy after another. From the group giving you hell about keeping secrets, to tending to Fuyuhiko’s extensive wounds, to now finding Ibuki hanging from a rope and Hiyoko posted up against a pillar with her throat slit, your group couldn’t seem to catch a break.
Though Mikan and yourself begged him to get some rest - as his wound had already reopened once - Fuyuhiko insisted on investigating in preparation for the trial with everyone else. He was as strong-willed as ever. You searched the hospital with him for clues or evidence the blackened may have sloppily left behind. He was on edge, and you couldn’t blame him. Everyone was, these were the fifth and sixth classmates dead in the blink of an eye, and the killer was still on the loose. Your skin crawled and you were extra jumpy today. Every corpse you had to look upon took a little more of your innocence and vitality from you, and this maniac had already killed twice. What was to stop them from killing again?
Fuyuhiko insisted that he wasn’t scared of the blackened, quite the opposite. It was his rage aimed at them that would fuel his strength to move on and identify them. You knew him well, and knew when to back off when he was in a mood. Everything seemed to annoy him at the moment. It was hard to search with him and cooperate when he got pissed off everytime you fussed over his healing injuries. He kept swatting you away then apologizing for being irate and short-tempered. He just wanted you to stop babying him.
Just now bending over to search near a hospital bed, Fuyuhiko shot upright, jumping at a sudden sound that startled him.
“What the fuck-?!” He turned to the source of the loud crash behind him. You were splayed out across the floor behind him, a deep gash on your cheek spilling blood down your face as you sat up. “What the hell did you do?!”
“I just tripped! I’m fine!” You gestured with one hand to a small table you’d toppled over, holding your bloody cheek with the other. The contents on said table, various sharp little medical instruments and tools, were strew about and on top of your body. Fuyujiko glared at the hard counter top of the cabinet you’d hit your cheek off of on the way down. Now you knew how Mikan felt, always making a mess of her clumsy self.
“You’re a fuckin’ idiot! Why don’t you watch where you’re going?! We’ve got enough shit to deal with right now!” He kneeled down to your level and started rapidly picking up the various scalpels and knives around you.
“I’m sorry, ‘Hiko…” the shame was setting in. He was already ornery today and you’d somehow made it even worse. He leaned over your body, reaching for more of the small instruments.
“Sorry’s not gonna cut it! You-”  hovering over you, he lifted one of the razor sharp tools above his head in a clenched, angry gesture. You turned your head, gasping slightly and flinching away from him. Your free hand came up to cover your face with your eyes shut tight in a grimace. Upon seeing you recoil, cowering away from him like that, he halted, the rest of his complaint dropping off into oblivion.
He didn’t want to be like that anymore, remember? He reminded himself of his temper, of his talks with Hajime in the hospital, of Peko’s memory urging him to do better, of his display of humility to Hiyoko in the hotel restaurant.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, putting the instrument aside and gently pulling you to your feet alongside him.
“Come on, sit down. Let’s get you cleaned up.” He pushed you gently down to sit on the hospital bed and reached for some simple disinfectant, a cloth to put it on, and a large bandage. He began to pat the blood away. “We’ll have Mikan look at this later to see if it needs stitches, but this is the best I can do for now.” He noticed you avoiding his eye contact and his heart sank. “Hey…” He held your chin, titing your head to look up and meet his gaze. “I’m really sorry, okay. I would never lay a hand on you. That is a fact. Please… know this for certain.”
“I know, I just… I don’t know… I’m sorry I reacted that way.” His apology helped, but you still felt a little foolish.
“No, it’s me who should be sorry. There’s no need to get that angry, especially at you, especially for an accident.” He sighed, running a hand down his face. He had a long way to go. “Please slow down. Be more careful and worry about yourself as much as you worry about me. I can’t lose you, too.”
Hajime Hinata
You’d closed yourself up in your cabin for good, with no plans to go out in the foreseeable future. Every few minutes you checked the locks, on both the doors and the windows, biting your nails down to nearly bleeding. In addition to shutting yourself in, you’d shut the world, the island, and all your classmates out. You were a nervous wreck.
Mere hours ago, Nagito had blown the hotel lobby and everyone in it sky high. He’d finally lost what little marbles he had left. Nobody knew fully why, but he’d snapped too far beyond repair. Both you and poor Kazuichi were very near to the blast zone, and even now you felt a dizziness and slight loss of hearing. You were sure that over in his cabin, Kazuichi was feeling the same way. You wanted to pass out, to scream, to topple over in exhaustion but refused to let yourself leave your post. As much as you were tired and dizzy, you were equally as terrified. What if that maniac Nagito showed up again to finish the job? Though the vertigo threatened to take you down for the count, you were determined to stay vigilant. Your mind grew more and more dull and hazy by the second, though.
Hajime and the others wanted to go to the new island in the morning, and as far as you were concerned, they could search until their hearts were content. You’d given up. You’d been broken. You’d been beaten by Monokuma and this killing game. Why go to a new island? Every time you guys went to a new island to explore, someone died. Everyone was dying. There was a psychopath hell-bent on blowing you up - or worse - on the loose. You were content to stay in your cottage and rot away. Paranoid and eroded away from trial after trial, you’d refused to let anyone in, even your sweet boyfriend, Hajime, who’d already tried to come check on you several times that night. Even as the rain poured down from the night sky and lightning cracked consistently, he kept coming back. He was extremely concerned about you, but you just couldn’t do it anymore. You didn’t trust anyone anymore. You couldn’t.
You trusted Teruteru, and Peko, and Mikan, and Gundham, and Nagito… it was all too much. Who would betray you next? Who would stab you in the back when you least expected it for a chance at freedom as a blackened who got away with it? It could be literally anyone. Sonia had a country to get back to, an entire country waiting for her. Fuyuhiko had an empire. They all had a reason to live and you’d be an easy target in this state of barely conscious, injured and mentally broken.
You’d almost fallen asleep when a knock came at your door, again…
You almost chose to ignore it, but figured getting your body moving would keep you awake, so you forced your feet over to the door.
“Hajime…?” You assumed, your voice weak.
“Man…” he sighed loudly, muffled by the rain and the barrier of the door, “(Y/N)... you sound terrible. I really do think you have a concussion. Please let me in. I’m worried sick.”
“Please go away, Hajime. I’m sorry… I’ll be fine. I just -”
“I know you’re scared. You know you can trust me.” There was that word again… Moments passed in silent contemplation. “... I’m gonna keep coming back until you let me in. I’m soaked… please…” he whined, jiggling the door handle on his side. Now it was your turn to sigh. You rested your head against the door, senses dimming fast. He was probably right, you most likely did have a concussion. Your head ached, your vision was a bit blurry, the light of your cabin bothered your eyes. “You can’t just stay in there forever, you need medical atten-” The door swung open before him, and you hurriedly signaled for him to come in, swiftly locking the door behind him.
“No sudden movements. I’m a bit confused right now… everything’s a bit slow…” Your words slurred out but he seemed to catch them all.
“Yeah, no shit. You were blown all the way across the hotel floor. Come here, let me check something.” He took your wrist and stood you in the center of the room in front of him. He pulled a small flashlight he won from the gacha machine from his pocket and flashed it into your eyes slowly. “Try to stand still.” You were trying to, but swayed and stumbled regardless. “See, you can’t even do that much. Look, since Mikan is gone, we gotta let Monomi help us out. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
“What?! No, no no…” your heart beat quickened, feeling that paranoid panic set in again. “I’m not leaving this room.” The confusion was hitting again as you stumbled backwards a step and your back met the side of your bed. Was this a set up? You already let him in, now he wanted to get you out in the open? “Something’s gonna happen! I won’t go!”
“(Y/N), I promise I’ll get you to the hospital safely and I’ll stay with you the whole time. I know you’re scared but you’re being irrational right now!”
A thunderous boom sounded outside as high above your cabin the lightning cracked. In an instant, all of the lights wavered and went out. You cried out into the pitch black. You couldn’t see even a foot in front of you. This was definitely a set up. It had stormed plenty of times on this island, and the lights never went out like this.
Hajime reached out for you in the dark, and you screamed even louder at his touch. This was it, the betrayal. It was inevitable on this hell of an island. No one could truly be trusted.
“(Y/N), stop! Stop yelling!” Hajime grabbed one of your wrists in the dark, and you sank to the floor, too dizzy to stand any longer. He heard the thud of your butt hitting the ground, though he couldn’t see it, and sunk to his knees beside you.
“Please… don’t hurt me, Hajime…” the words tumbled out of your mouth lazily. You wanted to pass out so badly.
“Hurt you?” He sounded incredulous, almost scoffing. Turning the screen brightness all the way up on his e-handbook, he set it on the ground beside you both for some type of light, as meager as it was, and sat the flashlight beside it. He grabbed your face in his hands, gently shaking you to alertness. He’d heard it wasn’t good to let someone with a concussion fall asleep. “I’d never hurt you.” He stated almost matter-of-factly. “You’re just going through a rough time right now... Don’t talk like that. You know I’d never hurt you. I care about you, a lot.” He adjusted your position so you were sitting up a little straighter.
It pained him to see you this way. This killing game was stealing your luster, your goodness, your spirit. He’d noticed that your smile - a smile he loved so very much - grew smaller and smaller with each trial. Now it’d come to this. You were frightened of even him…
“I’m so scared, Hajime…”
“I know. I know you are.” He spoke with compassion in his voice. “Will you let me help you? Please…?” He waited for your nod of confirmation before continuing. “Come on,” he scooped one arm under your legs and the other under behind your back and stood with you in his arms. “We’re gonna get you the help you need. I know it’s hard, but we are a team. You, me, Chiaki, Sonia, Kazuichi, Fuyuhiko, Akane, we need to do this together. I know it’s hard to trust after all that’s happened, but I’m gonna keep you safe, and we’re gonna survive this, together.”
Kazuichi Soda
Kazuichi sat in front of the busted funhouse elevator, ass nearly numb from sitting in that position for hours. He was squatting before, until his knees began to hurt as well. You sat behind him, handing him tool after tool when he needed it and offering encouragement and advice when you could. Still, he was being testy and very short with you and the two of you had gotten into it several times today already. Nothing big, just a few little spats. You had to keep reminding him that you were only trying to help, but nonetheless he was in a foul mood.
You knew he was truly mad at the situation, not you. His anger was misplaced but it still hurt. You’d all been locked up in the funhouse for days without food and with minimal sleep due to Monokuma’s interference and everyone was on each other’s last nerves. Now the elevator was broken, and the Ultimate Mechanic was expected to be the one to fix it. He’d been at it all day, and with each set back or miniscule perceived failure, he got more and more irritated.
You handed him a wrench you’d gotten from the hidden room beyond the Final Dead Room. All the tools he was currently using were from there as well. Oh yeah, that was another reason he was so pissed off. He’d never admit to it, but the fact that you were smart and brave enough to pass the Final Dead Room’s test unscathed and here he couldn't even fix this measly machine irked him like nothing else. He felt like the word useless might as well have been stamped onto his head. After he let out yet another frustrated groan, stretching out his sore wrist, you sighed and spoke up:
“Hey, Kaz’, it’s okay if you can’t get it done today. Let’s get some rest. We need to conserve energy.” He looked at you as if you’d just called him the biggest loser ever.
“That’s easy for you to say! You’re actually contributing to the group! You don’t have the burden of feeling like a failure on your mind!” He gritted his sharp teeth.
“You are contributing by even trying to fix it!” You retorted, not appreciating his tone or him starting an argument with you yet again today.
“Oh, don’t patronize me! You just don’t get it! Everyone likes you and you’re good at everything you try! I can’t even do what I was literally born to do correctly!” He spat.
“Oh, Kazuichi, give me a break! It is not that deep! Nobody even needs to use the elevator at this very moment!” You shifted your position right next to him, crossing your arms over your chest in a pouting display.
“If you’re not gonna help, then just go away!” He leaned forward toward you, raising the wrench in his hand in exasperation. You jolted backwards, leaning away from him with a fright.
Things got really awkward, very fast. The air went dead silent and all anger drained from his face. He lowered the wrench as a blank expression took over, followed by one of slight embarrassment. Did you really think he was gonna hit you with it? A moment passed, and you both looked away from each other, refusing to make eye contact.
“H-hey…” Kazuichi hesitated for a second, then made up his mind. Grabbing your shoulder, he seized you into his chest and held you tightly. His mind flashed back to his years in the family shop, to glimpses of his dad screaming whenever he angered him, even hitting him sometiimes for fucking up on a car. He might have even deserved it - he thought - but you didn’t. For sure, you didn't. He respected but feared his father, and he didn’t want to make anyone feel like that, especially not you. “I would never hit ya like that! Y-you gotta know that, right?!” His voice broke as he fought back tears. “I’m sorry for being an asshole today. This place just fuckin’ sucks you know? I can’t take it anymore!” You felt wetness soak through your shirt on your shoulder though you couldn’t see his face. You returned the hug, pulling him tighter into yourself. You two sat like that for a long while, resigned to give the elevator another try sometime later.
Nekomaru Nidai
You and Nekomaru were kinda… a thing? It was complicated because you were two very different people, but there was a little spark, a mutual crush that was known of and whispered about by the other students. It was weird, because you two flirted with each other, but nothing really ever happened because when he was around, you felt like a flustered mess, a puddle of mush. He was an intimidating, extroverted mountain of a man, and it was easy to become nervous in his presence. It’s like you were touch-starved, head over heels for your handsome classmate and yet the thought of him touching you turned you into an anxious idiot at the same time. You spent a quite lot of time together but there was rarely any touching other than a motivational clap on the back or the slap when you made a good joke, maybe even a very platonic-feeling bear hug as a greeting every once in a while.
In fact, you saw more chemistry between him and Akane, or even him and Hajime, two people he hung out with all the time. Heck, he touched Akane a lot more than he ever touched you. It made you feel a bit jealous, even. You felt silly even admitted this to yourself, as he wasn’t even your boyfriend and could do whatever he pleased, but it was frustrating nonetheless.
You wanted to be mature, to be honest and communicate your feelings with him once and for all because the pining, the unfulfilled feelings were driving you crazy but it had totally blown up in your face. Turns out your relationship with him was a lot more complicated than you originally thought. The talk ended up as a bit of an argument… well, it felt like you were arguing and stumbling over your feelings while he didn’t seem to be upset at all, which made you feel even more overwhelmed. You felt childish, unable to express yourself in a way that didn’t feel humiliating. He always seemed willing to talk something out, but at the same time didn’t really seem to understand how you felt in any other way than on a platonic level. He motivated, talked to, trained, and fixed people for a living, but maybe sports and romance were just too different for this conversation to click in his head. Or maybe… you were reading the signs all wrong. Maybe he didn’t like you back at all. Maybe you and your peers had misinterpreted his fondness for you as flirting, and you decided to accept that. You respectfully asked him to forget about everything you said, and apologized for the confusion and awkwardness, making your swift exit.
~
Sulking, dejected and needing some alone time, you walked along the lengthy bridge that connected Jabberwock Park to the island that housed the supermarket and resort. The sun was in the process of setting, leaving the island nearly dark with last last bits of daylight.
“(Y/N)!” You looked up from your navel-gazing to see a large figure bolting toward you at the speed of light. Nekomaru’s sudden appearance startled you even though you knew the guy to be loud and over the top. At that distance, you may not have been able to tell it was him in this little lighting if he weren’t yelling out your name. You’d recognize the voice from a mile away. As he finally approached, not the least bit out of breath, he began to speak immediately.
“Hey, (Y/N)!” He seemed a bit different, a bit less charged-up than his usual state. It was like a calm state of focus.
“Hey… Nekomaru.” You smiled weakly, still extremely nervous standing in his shadow. You had to tell yourself that you only felt this way because you liked him, and you had to let go of those feelings. “What’s up?” You twiddled your thumbs timidly, eluding the eye contact.
“I wanted to talk to you about earlier. When we chatted… well, I’ve been thinking about it all day. It’s been bothering me! So…” His brow furrowed. It wasn’t often he was speechless. “Uhhh..” he stalled in his deep rumble of a voice. He took a step closer to you, and you took one skittish step back. It felt weird having him in your personal bubble. It bred butterflies in your stomach. You began to shiver. It was partly because of the chill in the evening air, and partly because you dreaded confrontation like this. You feared he would make this more painful and awkward than it already was. Why couldn’t he leave it be? You weren’t his type, you accepted that! You took another self-conscious step back.
“We don’t really need to talk about it. I get how you feel, it’s fi-” a gasp passed through your lips as his massive hand suddenly flew down toward you. You flinched backward just a tad and felt your heel slip off the edge of the bridge. His hand found its desired destination around your waist and he pulled you in snugly to his wide, warm chest.
“W-why did you do that?” You looked up at him, your face pulsating with warmth just underneath the skin. He raised a brow apphrehensively at your reaction.
“You were shaking, so I figured you were cold. Plus, you were about to fall off the bridge. Two birds, one stone! Bet you’re warmin’ up now, huh?” He grinned down at you briefly before the wary expression took over again. “Hey, I know I’m a big dude an’ all, but you don’t need to be afraid of me or anything…” he mumbled and you could feel him speak from your position smashed against his chest. You looked down now, a bit ashamed that you made him feel that way. You didn’t know why he cared what you thought of him, but you could hear the slight hurt in his voice.
“I’m not scared of you, Nekomaru… quite the opposite…”
“Whaddaya mean?” What did he mean what do you mean??? Was he really that clueless? You literally had a whole conversation about this earlier today. Did the meaning of your words fly totally over his head… or were you just not clear enough?
“Nekomaru… I’m not scared I just…” you paused, debating just shutting up then and there, “I just get really nervous around you because… I really like you. Like as more than a friend…”
“You do?” Why did he sound genuinely surprised?
“I told you so earlier…”
“You did?!” He donned a puzzled look, and you looked up at him, incredulous. “No way!”
“I told you how I felt earlier, and you didn’t seem to feel the same so I let it go!”
“See, I told you it’s been bothering me, because I couldn’t for the life of me understand what you were so upset about earlier!” He threw his head back in one of his endearing, hearty laughs. What was that stereotype? Dumb jock?
“I mean, I tried to tell you, without being too forward or blunt. I was afraid you’d reject me…”
“Haha! Next time, why don’t you try to be more straightforward and honest with your feelings? It feels good!” He flexed the arm that held you close, giving you a good squeeze. You felt your cheeks warm up sheepishly.
“Like I said… you make me nervous…” you chuckled diffidently.
“Well, what do you say we try that talk again?” He began to resume the walk across the bridge, with you under his arm. “This time, we both be clear adn honest with each other?” His eyebrow wriggled rather mischeviously. “I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.”
Twogami / Ultimate Imposter
You’d spent nearly all of what little time you’d been on the island with Byakuya. You were starting to form a little crush on him, and he was rather fond of you as well (not that he’d ever openly admit it) so he allowed it. You of course knew about the Togami family’s power and influence, everyone did, so you found yourself a bit shy around him, but having fun at the same time getting to know him. You were a bit of of a people pleaser, both curious about him and eager to help if he needed it. There were times when you two simply hung out, like two normal people, and sometimes he even seemed to find you as fascinating as you found him. When he found himself asking one too many questions about you, however, he always seemed to reel it in, pulling back like he had some type of wall up.
You were fine with it. You’d just met a few days ago after all, and the friendship… or something more, would form when it formed. You didn’t want to force it. You were already feeling a bit silly and about wanting to connect with the Ultimate Affulent Progeny in the first place. Someone with his wealth and status could probably spend his time with anyone he wanted.
The threat of the start of a potential killing game was putting everyone on edge, even the scion himself, though he carried it better than most. He genuinely looked like someone your class might be able to look to as a leader.
The group had decided to throw a little party later that night, and you offered to help Byakuya tick off and confiscate all weapons or even potential weapons in the old building that would house this party… for some reason. Every loose wooden plank, every butter knife, every pointy object had to go. It felt like he knew something no one else did… but, you happily followed along, helping him with this task. Honestly, though, on the inside, you feared he was being a little too uptight. How would he enjoy the little get together tonight in this state of uneasiness?
In between locking up items he dubbed nefarious and double checking every corner of the building, you two actually got to know each other a little better. After hours of work, he was satisfied. All the while, he seemed to be watching Teruteru and Nagito like a hawk as the two shuffled in and out of the building preparing tonight’s dishes and cleaning respectively. What was Byakuya hiding from you? Why all the suspicion? Did he genuinely think one of your classmates would kill someone tonight? That was just insane to even think about.
Trying to ease his mind, you started up an innocent conversation.
“You shouldn’t worry so much, really! Tonight will be great! I know it. I brought my good luck charm and everything!” Smiling and seeking to distract his tense mind, you brought a little trinket out from your back pocket. In your flattened out hand you displayed a little baby blue pocket knife, barely the size of your palm. “My dad gave it to me when I was really little, and I -”
“What is wrong with you?!” Byakuya’s hand shot out toward you to grab the small blade and you flinched backward, holding your hands up defnesively and dropping it onto the floor in the process. The sudden, angry movement had frightened you, especially coming from a man who knew how to hold an intimidating presence.
The silence then was palpable as it hung in the air, and he, the real him, wanted to apologize, to explain himself and express regret for overreacting. He wanted to say that you’d been a joy to hang out with these past few days and that he’d never raise a hand to you, but Byakuya Togami would never lower himself to say these things… and right now, he was Byakuya Togami. He steeled himself to speak.
“I was merely going to confiscate the blade from you. What a gross overreaction…” He spoke condescendingly. “Do you really think me some animal, some lesser beast who physically assaults people? Don’t insult me so…” He scoffed, plucked the blade from the ground and pocketed it. “I don’t know what kind of men you’ve dealt with, but clearly you’ve been hanging around with the dregs of humanity.” Crossing his arms nonchalantly over his chest, he left you there without another word, satisfied that his facade had remained in tact. Inside, it burned, it hurt to be so cruel to such a sweet person like you. He left to make final preparations for the party tonight and you stayed behind, offering to help Teruteru and Nagito since you were already there. It would take your mind off of the humiliation you just suffered.
~
Early into the next morning, when Monokuma dismissed the survivors of the very first class trial back to their cottages at last, you’d nearly missed it as you crawled onto your bed in a tired, traumatized ball:
A rectangular black box sat on your bedside table. It wasn’t yours, and you were sure your cabin door was locked. How did it even get there?
You opened it cautiously and found the most expensive looking, elegant, and elaborate looking pen in the world within. On one side was the Togami family crest, engraved delicately and masterfully. Tucked under it was a small note. You read it, tears welling up immediately.
A replacement good luck charm - T
Gundham Tanaka
Gundham felt totally secure with you, a feeling he’d never truly felt with anyone else. He’d never state it in plain words, but it was true nonetheless. You’d always been accepting of him and his rather eccentric ways. He didn’t need to feel like an outcast around you. He felt completely seen, understood on a whole new level. He could’ve sworn you cast some sort of spell over him, the way his cheeks and the tips of his ears would feel like they were on fire when you complimented him or held his hand. He nearly burst into flames when you once pecked his cheek with your soft lips after he carried a bunch of stuff back to your cabin for you as a favor.
You two spent nearly every day together. Everyone knew you two were a thing and you didn’t mind the teasing. You had no reason to be ashamed of how you felt about Gundham. He was the kindest soul you’d ever met, it just took a little digging to figure that out. Other than Hajime and Sonia - the only other two who really tried to get to know him - you were the only one who he’d let tend to the Devas. You often held them, fed them, watched them in your cabin when Gundham showered or needed a short break. The hamsters and Gundham himself provided a much needed light for you in the darkness of this killing game. The little things you did with him mattered so much to you. You appreciated every moment when in this place, you could be very much dead the next day. You swam at the pool and went shopping at the supermarket together on the main island, ate at the diner together on the second, hung out at the music venue together on the third, and now, trapped in the funhouse with starvation as the motive, Gundham insisted that you share the sound-proof, luxury room with him.
You’d initially gotten extremely flustered by his request but eventually accepted. Gundham didn’t seem to think twice about it. You supposed he was so naive to romance that he saw nothing wrong with you two sharing a bedroom at all. Maybe he did know, but cared more about your safety than the embarrassment. You knew he’d never do anything without your express permission anyway, so after deliberating, decided it was a non-issue. It was unusual for Monomi not to pop up to protest, however.
~
Days into being trapped in the funhouse, you sat at the small desk in your room feeling like a total asshole. You’d been in an argument with Gundham earlier, one that you’d totally started and knew you were in the wrong for. You rarely ever had a disagreement with him, much less gotten into a full-on fight. It was a bit one-sided however, as you yelled and complained while he just tried to reason with you and ultimately ended up leaving you alone in the room for some space. You regretted it the instant he left, and had made up your mind to apologize the second he returned. You were miserable: starving and dead tired from Monokuma Tai Chi every morning, but that was no excuse for your behavior. Everyone else was hungry and cranky, too, and you’d taken your anger out on Gundham for no reason.
You pulled out the headphones and small MP3 player Hajime gifted you when you hung out a few weeks back and slumped forward on the desk, moping as you put the headphones in and blasted the music as loud as the cheap earbuds would allow. You had to pass the time somehow, and walking around looking for Gundham when he’d eventually come back here to sleep would waste what little energy you had left. There was a small part of your mind that wondered: what if he didn’t come back? Your heart ached. Everyone was starving… someone would have to kill soon to get out of this hopeless situation. You could only hope and pray that the last thing you said to Gundham wouldn’t be that hateful nonsense. You let yourself zone out, head down on the desk and eyes closed lazily. You began to doze off and wouldn’t know how long you were out.
You awoke to the music still blasting in your ears and a tap on your shoulder.
“Hmm?” Groggily you turned to see Gundham behind you. Gripped tightly in his gauze-wrapped hand was a large, sharp knife the length of your forearm. Your eyes widened and you screamed, taken off guard by the frightening sight. “Gundham, please, no!” It was a bit odd that he looked more shocked than you did as you backed away from him, falling off the chair and onto the floor behind it with a thud. Tears began to stream down you face.
You didn’t think it would end like this, but it was kinda of the perfect location. The room was sound-proof, after all. You just never expected a betrayal this cruel. Maybe you should’ve. After all this time, all of these deaths, it was naive to truly trust anyone on this island. Why did it have to be him though of all people? Maybe he had to do this. After all, the Devas were starving, too, and they meant the world to him. Getting out meant saving them as well.
Tossing the knife onto the bed, he rushed over to you, kneeling to the floor and tearing the earbuds out of your ears.
“What sort of demon has possessed you?!” Confusion coated his visage and the Devas hopped down from their master’s scarf and swarmed you, sensing your distress.
“What do you mean?! You just scared the shit outta me!” Fresh tears sprang forward with your frustration.
“That was never my intention, my beloved…” he shook his head apologetically.
“Well you can’t just pop up out of nowhere with a knife like that, especially in a situation like this! I thought you were about to fucking murder me!”
“I assumed you knew that I would never do you harm, so I didn’t see an issue with my approach… These other peasants would do well to fear my dark powers, but I thought you knew that my loyalties lie with you, dear one!” He pulled off one of his dramatic gestures. You pulled your knees up into yourself, suddenly feeling very stupid.
He proceeded to explain that while he was gone, he’d decided to take on the Final Dead Room in hopes of finding a route of escape from the funhouse because he couldn’t stand to see you suffer like this for a single day more. Instead, he came upon a cache of weapons of every sort and size, and begged you to keep that fact a secret. Pulling you to your feet, he sat you down on the bed and handed you the knife.
“Since I can not spirit you away from this hell, I have chosen to provide you with the means to defend yourself should I ever fail to. Hide it somewhere that is always accessible to you and no one else. And my darling, I beg of thee,” he pleaded, “cease all usage of that wretched machine!” He pointed to the MP3 player discarded onto the ground. “You must be on your guard at all times in this place, especially if the Devas and I are not there to guard you.” Your bottom lip quivered, heart swelling at his concern for you, even after you screamed at him earlier. You sat the knife down and threw your arms around him, collapsing into his chest. You didn’t deserve him.
“I’m so sorry, Gundham! After I sat here and bitched at you for no reason, you went out and still thought of my safety? I’m so, so sorry!”
“Think nothing of it, dear one…” He mumbled, burying his red face in his scarf.
Teruteru Hanamura
Most of the your other classmates were repulsed or at the very least annoyed by Teruteru’s antics. His behavior: overtly flirty and forward, even to the point of perversion, was a major turn off for most of the people he talked to, but you actually really liked him. You found his one-liners funny, his pick up lines amusing. He was genuinely fun to hang out with, in your opinion. He complimented you a lot, and you would playfully tease and flirt back. He really seemed to enjoy the matching of his energy, and though you’d only known each other for about a week, you spent a lot of time together. He was usually showing you some simple yet delicious recipes and letting you taste test his meals (of course with a lot of innuendos built in) and you would share your interests with him while you cooked together. You noticed, also, that the more time you spent with him, the less time he spent bothering the others. Maybe all he needed was a little positive attention all along.
Tonight, all of your classmates would be attending a party, both to socailize and ensure that nothing could happen because you’d all be in the same place, which would leave too many witnesses, therefore making a killing unlikely. Teruteru of course was excited to do what he did best and provide the meals for the party, but his mood seemed to be like a rollercaster that day. As you spent hours helping him cook, sometimes leaving to take breaks or talk to the others, he seemed to go from flirty to worried, salacious to nervous, confident to angry. His mood seemed to turn foul when Nagito would waltz by the kitchen, passing through as he did his assigned cleaning duties in the party building. You noted this, but it was strange, as you hadn’t known Teruteru to particularly dislike any of your peers… Did he have an issue with Nagito? But Nagito was so chill…
No matter the reason for his mood swings, you took them for what they were and tried to help out by offering an extra hand (which he made a dirty joke about) or changing the subject when he got gloomy. You could only do so much to stabilize his mood, however, and eventually he seemed to just be barking orders or frustrated with you. He was already in a bad mood and you didn’t want to contribute to it. You weren’t a true chef anyway and you were probably just getting in the way, you figured, so you took a big tray of finished dishes and began to make your way out to the dining hall.
Your shoe caught onto a thick chord just outside the kitchen door, just a piece of junk Nagito hadn’t gotten to yet and you tumbled forward, spilling the entire tray onto the floor. You gasped as you hit the floor, your knees stinging with the impact. Teruteru, who witnessed the whole thing, ran over to you with a shriek to make sure you were okay. The melancholy melted away, and checking on you was all that mattered.
“(Y/N)!” Mistaking his tone for anger because of his previously existing foul mood, you were startled by his approach, flinching away, shrinking backwards slightly. You fucked up, you ruined the dishes he spent hours making. He was probably furious with you. He stopped dead in his tracks, shocked by that instinctual response from you. With your reaction, he finally realized how rude he’d been to you all night. It wasn’t your fault Nagito was up to no good, and even knowing what he knew, he shoudn’t have taken his mood out on you. He was pushing away the one person who treated him with such kindness and respect on this island. His mother wouldn’t have been proud of that. “Take my hand.” He extended it to you and helped you to your feet.
“I’m so sorry, Teruteru, your food-!” You began to apologize profusely but he cut you off.
“I can always make more. I enjoy making more. Are you alright? You took quite the spill!” He smiled warmly at you. “I shoudln’t have been so… intense earlier. My apologies.”
“Oh I’m fine! It’s okay. But, about the food… are you sure it’s gonna be okay? Can we really make more in time?” He nodded enthusiastically in response. When you beamed back at him, he felt his inside twist into a knot.
He had to stop Nagito tonight. It was decided. He didn’t know how, or the extent of Nagito’s plans, but he couldn’t let him start the killing game with that knife he’d caught him taping under the the dining hall table earlier that morning.
Because… what if Nagito chose you, as his victim?
its my boy’s bday and i wrote this in like, roughly an hour due to misunderstandings of time zones yesterday lol
hope you enjoy, you can read below the cut off or check it out in the link above
Kazuichi woke up alone. Which isn’t unusual.
Gundham was up to tend to the few livestock that populated the farm and aiding in morning salvage before the sky began to pinken. But most days, he would return, sliding into the space he vacated and wrapped around the smaller man like a monkey. It wasn’t unusual for some days to not wake up pressed against a hard chest - arms and a leg locking him place; soft breath causing pleasant tickling on the nape of his neck.
He would prefer waking up like that, but beggars and choosers.
So, Kazuichi started the day without Gundham but not completely alone. A series of soft squeaks filled the air and he turned his head to clearly gaze at the small bundle of fluff on his pillow. San-D had deemed today her designated Kaz day and had sat on the pillow by his head until he finally decided that yes, he had to get up.
He spent a few minutes just running a pinky down her little body, luxuriating in her soft fur and the smug satisfaction that the Devas finally let him pet them, before the orange and white mammal began to nibble on his finger in a bid to get him moving.
He went about the usual routine: teeth brush, hair tied up, makeup debated but undone; dressed and glasses on. San-D impatiently waiting for him all the while to be done.
All in all it was a very normal start to the day, which made it a bit surprising when, as he was scooping San-D up to put in his jumpsuit pocket, that the doorbell rang.
“Who!” Kazuichi stared at the door with his brow furrowed.
Usually the former Remnants didn’t bother with that kinda thing - it was only them on the Island after all. They wildly forgo knocking before entering, unless it was super late or they were afraid of walking in on a couple. But everyone had a semi set schedule and knew each other’s by now to know that Gundham wasn’t in.
It just made it all the weirder when he heard Akane calling out from the other side.
“Come on, Kaz, just open the door!”
“Alright, aright!” Striding quickly to it, he undid the bolt and opened it to reveal Akane, who was near vibrating in place. “What’s the matter- h-HEY!”
Two strong hands clasp his arms before he is pulled into a crushing hug, feet embarrassing dangling in the air. Kazuichi felt a moment of pure panic, before he felt the pressure of a small body against his neck and sagged with relief as Akane spun them around.
All too soon, the familiar dread of nausea began to bubble and rise like water. Kazuichi opened his mouth to warn her, when she finally stopped to crow. “Happy Birthday Kaz!”
“It’s today?” After saying the words, he winced.
Once upon a time, before the mindfucking, multiple deaths and remnants - even before Hopes Peak-, Kazuichi would’ve been horrified to forget his own birthday. He was the only one to celebrate it - the only one to actually remember that he even nearly shouted  it out loud when Class 77 was making a birthday calendar in a bid for someone other than him to remember. But that was before meeting Hajime and befriending everyone, when his self esteem and sense of worth was low and desperate for validation.
And then, when Enoshima came and fucked everything up, it all seemed so unimportant. When they escaped the Neo World Program, the Five found themselves two years older and already skipped a few birthdays that year. They all agreed on just sharing one day for all of them - when they all were together again. It was a promise that they used as motivation and to keep having hope. And once everyone was reunited, they continued to share a single birthday - the day after Nagito, their last member, re-emerged from the program as their day to celebrate.
It’s just recently, nearly ten years later, that they began to have separate birthdays again. And he forgot.
“You forgot what day was!?!” Akane stood there in shock, wides nearly popping out of their sockets as her mouth dropped open.
At the former gymnast’s blatant shock, he stammered. “I mean…I know we started that back up but…”
“Now Akane,” a voice gently chided and Kazuichi let out a relieved breath as Sonia walked up and placed a hand on her girlfriend’s shoulder. “We all knew this would be an adjustment. You can’t just expect everyone to remember.”
The brunet shook her head, gently planting the mechanic down onto the ground. Kazuichi let out a small breath in relief, not missing the former princess’s conspiratorial wink as Akane pouted.
“I know. But still - it’s my little brother’s birthday and I wanted to be the first one to wish him a happy day!”
Chest warming at the sentiment, Kazuichi felt a blush creep up his neck and stain his cheeks as he bashfully looked away. “Aw, ‘Kanie.”
“Had to make sure I did it before B- Gundham did!” She chirped, smirking as she ruffled his black.
Squawking, he smacks the offending hand away as Sonia giggles. “Actually, I haven’t seen Hamster-Chan yet.” Kaz’s lips tilt down thoughtfully.
Although they all celebrated their birthdays on a single day, Gundham usually remembered and went out of his way to say something to the people he cared about. Maybe he forgot?
“I am sure he is probably busy at the barn and will join us later on.” Sonia reassured with a cheerful chirp. “For now, you’ll have to settle for our company!”
“Yeah!” Akane grinned, hooking an arm around his neck. “Let’s grab Haj and Baby Gangster and go to the beach! Or the buffet! Or the pool!”
“Why the pool when the beach is right there?” But even as he said that, a grin crept across his face and San-D made little chitterling noises as she jumped on his shoulder. “If we’re going anywhere near water, then I need to get my trunks.”
Sonia clapped her hands as she did a little hop. “Of course. Hurry and grab them so that we may eat before we go. Akane is gonna teach us surfing!”
Although he doubted he would join those lessons, the man only nodded eagerly as he swung back inside to look for his swimming trunks and a bag. Just before he was out of earshot, he heard the two fervently whisper to each other.
“-shouldn’t be long. Gundham said it’d only take a little bit and he’ll be back by this afternoon.”
“It better or else I’ll kick his ass for missing-”
Frowning at the implication and the slight anxiety that started to creep up his spine, Kazuichi walked over to their shared closet.
Gundham wasn’t at the farm and Sonia lied about it? Why?
A thousand and one thoughts raced through his mind, each as bad as the next. Shaking the thoughts from his mind, the mechanic began to stuff the trunks and some flips into the bag, hurriedly zipping it as though doing so will also keep his negative thoughts locked. He crossed the small space to the front door where he locked the door before following his friends down the road.
It's probably nothing.
The morning had been a blast.
Everyone wished him a happy birthday, with Teruteru trying to give him a ‘special meal’ that had Kazuichi quickly and firmly declining. Ibuki raced up to him and punched him a few times in the arm - “and a pinch to grow an inch!” - as was her tradition with everybody. When Peko had come up to wish him a happy birthday, he promised her that they would swap gifts tomorrow; a custom they had started as students their second year.
Once that and breakfast was over it was a beach party day. When you live on a series of tropical islands, nearly every day or every big holiday is a beach party day. It was always a big thing and this was no different. Akane was teaching Sonia and Ibuki how to surf, while Hajime stayed on the beach giving pointers as he fussed over a slowly sunburning Nagito.
Kaz had played in the water for a bit with the others, until collapsing dramatically on his towel. He laid on his back, arms splayed to his side as he relaxed in the relative cool of the beach umbrella. Glasses switched out for shades, he brought his phone close to his face.
It was almost three and Gundham hadn’t gotten back yet. Kaz did text him at breakfast, saying good morning and the breeder had replied but that was it. A pout pulls Kazuichi’s lips as San-D rushes over to climb up his chest.
“What do ya think, San-D?” He coos, using his unoccupied hand to scoop the hamster up to look at her. She squints at him before happily grooming her face. “Should we call Daddy and ask him where he is?”
“Fear not my Vibrant Alchemist, for I am close upon you!”
A bright smile stretches across his face as Kazuichi looks up to see the slightly blurry vision of Gundham making his way over to them. San-D climbs down his body with an excited squeak as the man scrambled to sit up.
“Babe!” He squealed, hurrying to put his glasses back on. He catches the slight blush that colors the taller man’s cheeks before he rushes over. “Your back from wherever!”
Scrambling to make room under the umbrella, Kazuichi pats a spot for Gundham to sit, which the breeder with a thankful grunt. He’s without his jacket today, Kazuichi notes, his boots too. He’s just wearing his signature white shirt and pants with sneakers. And Kazuichi blinks, there’s a plain brown box with a bow on his lap.
“Apologies. It seemed that nefarious means had kept me longer than anticipated,” Gundham sighs, leaning towards Kaz to place his lips against his forehead. “A joyous birthday, my Paramour.”
Despite hearing it from all his friends, having his boyfriend wish him a happy birthday made Kazuichi nearly melt into a puddle of goo.
“Aww babe! Thank you.” He cooed, shifting to quickly kiss the breeder before pulling away. He points to the box. “Is that for me?”
“Perhaps.” Gundham smirks, his body posture prideful as he presents the box with a flourish. “For you, my Half.”
He places it in Kazuichi’s lap and he takes a moment to admire the shiny, glittery black and rainbow flecked ribbon that was wrapped around it before slipping it off. Flipping the lid off, he looks inside and screams.
“Oh my gosh!” Sticking his hands into the box, he gently picks up a squirming ferret.
It was a dark sable with a white face and paws, it’s black eyes looking at Kazuichi as its nose sniffed the air. He put it gently down in his lap as Gundham pulled out the second one, a chocolate and with an all white head and front legs and a darker colored tail. The two ferrets wiggled and nipped at each other as Kazuichi stared at them with tears in his eyes.
“Do you like them, Kazuichi?” Gundham’s voice was low, watching as the other gazed and ran shaky fingers up thin bodies.
“Are you kidding! I love them!” The mechanic gushed, caging the ferrets when they looked like they would leap out of his lap.
Gundham’s body relaxed and leaned over to take the excitable mammals into his hands before placing them back in the box. “These warriors are the finest the Future Foundation had to offer! Their species, as are others, are steadily growing in this new world! But these two are not fit for the dangers of the world and must make a pact with a mortal. And as you have grown into your powers quite well, I believe you are a fine candidate for these two.”
“You think I’m really ready for my own pet?”
Kaz never had a pet before- unless a butterfly cocoon counted. And he’s been taking care of the Devas to the point that they felt like his, but this would be a whole different can of worms!
Gundham nods, the Devas perched on his shoulders. “Of course! And with the Dark Lord on your side, these warriors will be an unstoppable force in your care! All you must do, is bless them with names worthy of them. But for now, let us depart Poseidon's Realm, so that you may bond with them more properly!”
“Sounds good to me! I wanna be with my boyfriend on my birthday after all.” He grinned, taking in the bright blush on Gundham’s face as the other used a hand to cover his face.
Kazuichi laughed as they gathered their stuff and left, waving goodbye to their friends. He doesn’t stop beaming as they make the trek back to their shared cabin, looking down into the box as the ferrets continue playing. “I’m gonna call them Sprig and Sprocket!”
“Fine names. Not ones I would have persona anointed them with, but very strong monikers.”
“Hush.” He leans up to kiss the man’s cheek, enjoying the flustered smile it produces.
In the box, the Devas and ferrets nestle together and let the jostling movement lull them to sleep.
