To everyone hating on Poseidon in the tv show for being shitty:

Poseidon is clearly paying child support. Or do you think that Sally's job (at Sweets on America if they're sticking to the book) pays for the apartment, Percy's private boarding school, Gabe's gambling addiction, other living costs and renting that really, really fancy Monhawk cabin?

Poseidon stayed away because Sally broke up with him. Sally told him to stop visiting. Poseidon wanted to make Sally and Percy immortal and build them a freaken palace in his kingdom. He wanted to treat Sally like a queen. He wanted to raise Percy.

Poseidon is the one who gave Riptide to Chiron to give to Percy. He's at least trying to help, while listening to Zeus's rules and Sally's wishes. And let's not forget the pearls he gives Percy to protect him from Hades, later on in the book.

Poseidon knows that by claiming Percy as his (forbidden) son, he's putting a target on his back - and now both Zeus and Hades and very possibly Athena - all want him dead because of the threat Percy poses to Olympus due to the great prophecy. He tried to avoid that. He literally waited until the last possible minute (2 weeks? before Zeus's deadline) to claim Percy because he was trying to avoid putting Percy in that position.

saw someone on twitter talking about the final moment in the recent pjo ep and percy realizing he can breath underwater and i just have so much to say about it omg

until that moment, percy's instances of tapping into his powers inherited from poseidon were purely accidental. they all came in moments of self-defense and he never made active moves to try and understand them. until that moment, he had rejected his father and any title as the son of poseidon. so this is the first moment we see percy accepting his powers and, to a certain extent, his identity as the son of poseidon.

A fic where Percy travels dimensions and meets greek!myth Poseidon and Percy is on edge around him and he can't really figure out why? And then he sees greek!myth Poseidon angry and maybe tries to intervene and then greek!myth Poseidon roughs him up a little maybe physically or emotionally for interfering and then its at that moment Percy realizes that oh. oh no. we may look alike and i may have your powers but you are NOT my dad.

And then Percy is transported back to his dimension with his dad pjo Poseidon and maybe he's a little bruised and wary around his dad b/c of Gabe trauma/greek myth Poseidon trauma or maybe its the polar opposite and he goes and hugs his dad for a good 5 minutes straight like, 'thank you for being so good to me; i know how easy it would be for you not to be.'

Then when pjo Poseidon finds out how greek myth Poseidon treated Percy he's angry and sad and heartbroken about it because that's Percy! his baby! his fav child! He cries a lil inside and is extra gentle around Percy.

In case you know the anime Saint seiya (it s based on greek mythology) what do you think percy and nico think of it (especially the arc with Hades)?

My friend, I am from LatAm, of course I know Saint Seiya.

Nico is impressed by the amount of research that went into naming the saints. He actually becomes a hardcore fan for a while. And while he rolls his eyes at Hades being the bad guy again, his actual main complaint for the Hades arc is that his father is presented as a twink, but he enjoys that he can defeat Athena one-on-one.

Percy watches along to spend time with Nico, but gets really into it during the Sactuary arc. Let's just say he gets high-key offended at Poseidon Arc and leave it at that, but he really enjoys the Hades arc for being different from the others.

As an aside, Percy likes the implied romance between Seiya and Saori, while Nico is partial to Seiya and Shun after the Hades arc. Neither one admits they are shipping characters from a decades-old anime. Neither of them knows about Next Dimension either, so they're resigned to the fact that the series had an unsatisfying ending.
