Good Morning

I woke up and took out my zoo, made coffee, and finished my daily Spanish lesson. Pretend like it wasn't my first lesson on a random online website I refuse to pay a premium for and only started because I keep saying I will learn but rarely have the drive, so it really only took like five minutes and now I have to wait another 15 hours to do another one. I also fucked up my sleep schedule so that's nice. I am currently awake at 8 am knowing full well I have to work from 8pm-5am but still slept all last night like an idiot, so I am going to be fully comatose after work and probably a raging psycho during my shift. What will I do with all this new-found motivation you ask? I can promise it will not be anything productive.

Goede voornemers voor comicverzamelaars

Het nieuwe jaar is aangebroken en daar zijn dan natuurlijk ook de goede voornemens weer. Je denkt dan waarschijnlijk meteen aan meer sporten, gezonder eten of stoppen met roken. Allemaal fijn en aardig, maar ook als comic verzamelaar zijn er goede voornemens die je kan maken 😉👇

1. Lees wat je koopt

Dé klassieker. Er komen elke maand zoveel nieuwe comics en strips op de markt die je natuurlijk niet wil missen in je verzameling en die je trouw aanschaft. Zelfs wie enkel focust op Nederlandstalige comics kan maandelijks toch rekenen op 6 tot 10 nieuwe uitgaven. Tel daar ook nog eens wat back issues bij die je elke maand ongetwijfeld bij elkaar sprokkelt en je komt uit bij een flinke leeslijst. Dat kan zich al snel opstapelen tot een hele collectie comics die ongelezen blijven staan (of liggen, zie voornemen 2 🙈). Ik ben zelf wel iemand die uit het verzamelen op zich evenveel plezier haalt dan uit het lezen van de comics, maar geef toe, het zou toch zonde zijn om al dat prachtige materiaal niet minstens één keertje te lezen.

2. Sorteer je comics onmiddellijk

Het ultieme probleem van élke verzamelaar is plaatsgebrek. Nu mag ik zelf absoluut niet klagen en heb ik van mijn vrouw een hele kamer tot mijn beschikking gekregen voor al mijn geekstuff. Toen we iets meer dan 10 jaar geleden in ons huis kwamen wonen gaf me dat een zee aan schapruimte, maar die is intussen uiteraard volledig opgevuld. Vooral voor oude back issues van Semic en Classics is het vaak zoeken naar nog een plekje. Zo heb ik bijvoorbeeld nog een redelijk grote stapel die nu al enkele maanden liggen te wachten om gesorteerd te worden. Vandaar het voornemen voor 2024: meteen knopen doorhakken en sorteren.

3. Verkoop overbodige en dubbele comics

Ik hoor je al denken: allemaal goed en wel dat onmiddellijk sorteren, maar wat als je echt geen plek meer hebt? Dan zijn er nog twee opties: Stoppen met verzamelen (Yeah right 😅) of keuzes maken in je collectie. Welke comics ga je écht niet meer lezen? Heb je er dubbele? Zijn er reeksen die je ook digitaal kan volgen? Zelf heb ik enkele jaren geleden de switch gemaakt naar uitsluitend Nederlandstalige comics (op 2 longboxen Batman singles en één Billy kast Batman tpb’s na 🙈). Dat maakt dat mijn zolder volgestapeld ligt met Marvel omnibussen en OHC’s en ook een heleboel trades en hardcovers van Image, IDW etc. Daar is mijn vrouw iets minder tolerant voor, en dus gaan die de komende tijd allemaal de deur uit... ... (en met dat geld koop ik dan weer nieuwe comics 👿)

I am not going to give out my name because I very much want this to be a safe place.
