I’m so glad to be lazy about starting a new manga because all thanks to that it did me really good today because I can have watched the first episode of Oshino No Ko without knowing a thing about it and wooooo it was beyond all of my expectations I knew it’s a really good manga but I for sure didn’t expect to like it this much. One of the best begining that i’ve seen in a long for an anime this whole episode was so captivating.
Ai's story kinda goes at a fast pace but at the same time you have the time to slowly immerse yourself into it through this episode and learn more about her personality which is a really hard task to do since she dies at the end of this episode. But even though they succeded to make her the star of this episode and we have had witness it by how radiant she were even when being true with herself for once by telling her kids that she trully loves them.
Feels like the real story will begins from now on and I'm even more excited to know which path/decisions the kids will take and knowing more about the story as a whole

BEFORE THE HUNTER EXAM
(Name) pulled her cover off and placed her sock covered feet on the cold floor. It was another sleepy Tuesday morning, the sun shining onto her messy bed.
Her legs were still tired from her long walk from her campus yesterday. She yawned into her hand as she poured her coffee into the cat paw patterned cup her little brothers gave her for her birthday.
(Name) sipped slowly. The cheap store brand coffee wasn’t amazing, but it was better than nothing. She glanced at her phone to see a missed call from her mother.
‘She never calls. Must of heard of the news from school…’
She pressed call, waiting a few seconds before her mother picked up.
“You idiot, I can’t believe you dropped out! After all the money your dad and I-“
“I’ve already sent a check reimbursing you for the classes you paid for.”
Her mother gasped. “You disrespectful little… I hope you know we’ll be cutting you off for this. We already had low expectations for you, and you couldn’t even meet those. What a useless girl you are.”
(Name) sighed. ‘Cut me off? Not like you were supporting me much anyways.’
She looked around her crappy apartment with a sigh.
“And you’re taking the Hunter Exam. Well good for you. You gave up being a nurse to take the most dangerous test in the world. How smart of you.”
Sarcasm and hate dripped off of her voice like venom. (Name) didn’t respond. She was used to this by now, only sighing.
“Is that all you wanted to say?”
Her mother was quiet for a moment.
“No. In fact, I wanted to let you know that any further contact from you will be considered harassment. You will not be contacting any members of our family after this call.”
(Name)’s eyes widened, her cup slipping to the floor. “Wait, you don’t mean-“
“Yes. You will not be able to see your brothers. Ever again.”
She hung up the phone. (Name) stared down at the shattered cup before quickly trying to call her mother back.
“Please, pick up mom… not my brothers. You can’t take them from me!!”
But she didn’t answer, and soon she wasn’t able to call her at all.
‘Must of blocked me…’
She sat down, not caring about the coffee that had splashed on her legs and began to burn her skin. (Name) could only stare down at the shards of the only gift she had from her brothers.
(Name) glanced at the Hunter Exam application, tears pooling in the corners of her eyes.
‘Why not, not like I have anything to lose.’
The next few months (Name) went about life in a blur. She trained for the exam, slowly distancing herself from the small acquaintances she had from college, and breaking her lease.
She packed her backpack the night before the exam, placing several pairs of outfits, some canteens of water, food, other various items, and a dagger.
It was enough to be a good weight against her back, but not too heavy to make running or climbing difficult.
The last thing she packed into her bag was an envelope, carrying a letter.
“…”
She stared at the letter for a moment before stuffing it into the bottom of her bag, where it would be safe. It was the most important item in there, after all.
And she didn’t want anyone to read it until the time came.
———————
The first few trials of the exam had been hard, but she’d managed to scrape through and finally arrive where the First Phase would be held.
(Name) held onto one strap of her backpack quietly. Her navigator had been a bit worried for her, asking if she was okay.
“Yes, I’m alright. Just nervous I guess.”
The navigator nodded slowly. “I see. I think you’ll do well, dear, and if you don’t there’s always next year! I’ll see you then, yeah?”
(Name) looked down at her feet, not answering the woman. The navigator sighed before smiling.
“Good luck, I hope you pass!”
(Name) gave her a small smile back, waving as the doors closed and she began to descend. Her heart began to race. So far, she’d only met a few other Hunter applicants, all of them unkind. She was beginning to lose hope that she’d be able to make any type of alliances.
Not that she cared all that much. She didn’t think she’d be passing anyways.
Or surviving.
She looked down at the badge the navigator had given her.
‘#406. That must mean there are over 400 other applicants. Great.’
The doors opened up and (Name) walked out. Heads turned to stare at her, a few whistles and nods of approval could he heard and seen.
It wasn’t unexpected to (Name). After all, she was wearing a short white tennis skirt, and a pink cardigan over a white undershirt. Out of everyone else in sight, she seemed to be the only one dressed in such a way.
(Name) sighed as she joined the crowd. She looked around, her eyes glancing between each applicant before she spotted someone.
‘Oh thank god.’
She ran forward and grabbed onto a blonde woman’s sleeve, tugging it lightly.
“Hey there! I’m so glad I’m not the only woman here. Would you like to team up? Girls supporting girls and all?”
The blonde turned to her and blinked, tilting her head.
“Oh, um… you can join us, but…”
She blushed lightly, obviously embarrassed.
“I’m not a girl.”
(Name) tilted her head as the person next to the blonde bursted into laughter.
The blonde scowled and turned to the man. “And what is so funny, Leorio?”
The man, supposedly named Leorio, continued laughing. “Th-the first girl we meet and she thinks you’re a girl too! This is priceless!”
(Name) tightened her grip on the straps of her backpack. “I apologize. You’re just so pretty, I thought you were a girl.”
Yet again, the blonde blushed. “It’s alright, I promise. You said you were looking for someone to team up with, correct?”
She nodded as Leorio’s laughter died down. “Well you can stay with us. I’m not sure if we’ll be together the entire exam, but you’re welcome to tag along.”
“I sure wouldn’t mind a pretty little lady like you being on my t-“
The blonde hit him over the head with some sheathed weapon. “Ouch, Kurapika what was that for?”
The boy called Kurapika huffed. “I won’t have you being a creep to our new comrade. It’s disgraceful.”
“New comrade?”
A boy, who looked no older than twelve approached the group. “Oh, Gon! This girl asked to join up with us.”
(Name) waved at him. “Hello, I’m (Name).”
“That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful lady.”
Leorio grabbed her hand with both of his and shook it. “Welcome to the team!”
She shook hands with the others as well, looking away shyly when her hand touched Kurapika’s.
‘He really is pretty…’
Kurapika smiled. “I bet the exam has been full of trials, did you come here alone?”
“Yes, the only other applicants I’ve met have tried tricking or hurting me into failing. I’m glad I’ve finally met some nice people.”
Kurapika’s face shifted into a grimace. “That’s deplorable. But I guess it’s to be expected. The applicants could be anyone, meaning there’s bound to be bad people.”
(Name) sighed, pulling out a water canteen from her bag and sipping on it. “Any idea on what the first phase will be?”
When she caught Gon staring at the canteen, she offered it to him. He took it with a smile. Everyone took a sip before handing it back to (Name).
“I see you’ve come prepared. If you don’t mind me asking, what else do you have in your backpack?”
She frowned slightly but pulled it over her shoulder and into her hands. “Not a ton of things, but I have some snacks and water, along with a few different outfits.”
Kurapika blinked. ‘Oh, I guess different outfits would be important to a woman.’
She offered the three some hard candy, which Gon and Kurapika took. As they waited for the phase to begin, they chatted amongst themselves to get to know each other.
“You dropped out of medical school!?”
Leorio seemed almost angry, but was calmed down when he saw the sad look on her face.
“Yes, I did. It’s not that I don’t want to go, I just… I didn’t really have a choice in what I was studying. I decided to take the Hunter Exam on a whim, really. I…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, quickly smiling to hide that she almost let her secret spill.
“I’m excited to succeed!”
Leorio’s eyes softened. She was hiding something, but he could tell it wasn’t sinister. It was more for their sake then her’s.
“I hope you do.”
———————
A sharp ringing sounded throughout the large room. A man named Tonpa had walked over and talked to the group a bit, (Name) not paying him much attention. She was much too busy chatting with Kurapika, who seemed happy to share his experience with the exam with her.
The group looked up to see a man with short purple hair and a curly mustache standing before them, holding the ringing alarm. He stopped it before speaking.
“As of this moment the exam is closed to any further applicants. I would like to officially welcome everyone here to the Hunter Exam.”
Gon grinned. “Alright, finally, it’s gonna get started!”
“Aw man, I can’t believe I’m getting nervous.” Leorio said, loosening his tie.
“Come with me. Let me take a moment to remind you all that the Hunter Exam is extremely demanding. If you’re unprepared or unlucky, you may well be injured or killed. If you are alright with accepting those risks, then you may continue following me.”
The group followed after him, (Name) sticking by Kurapika. He may not be a girl, but out of all of them he seemed the most trustworthy and reliable.
“Very well then. The number of applicants is 405. At least for now.”
(Name) thought back to when Hisoka had taken one of the applicants out, holding the straps to her backpack a little tighter as she walked.
Leorio glanced around the crowd. “I guess I should have expected it, but no one’s backed out yet. I hoped there might be a few.”
(Name) hummed. “If they’ve made it this far, I doubt they’ll be backing out anytime soon.”
Kurapika nodded. “Yes, I agree. Just the path to the Hunter exam is full of trials and tribulations that would make ordinary men- oh and women, give up.”
(Name) suppressed a giggle. “Mhm.”
The people in the front began to speed up. “Hey, he’s picking up the pace!” Kurapika said with a frown.
“Sorry for the delay, but allow me to introduce myself. I’m Satotz, the examiner for the First Phase. I’m also the one that’s leading you to the sight for the Second Phase. Some of you may have already realized that keeping up with me until we reach the Second Phase is in fact, the First Phase.”
Their light jog turned into a run, and thirty minutes passed with no change in pace.
(Name) sighed lightly as she kept pace with the group, having to hold a hand over her chest to keep it from bouncing too much. ‘Went through the trouble of wearing two sports bras for no change in the outcome. Annoying.’
(Name) paid no attention to Tonpa explaining that this phase was not only a physical test, but a psychological one. She didn’t really care, (Name) was too busy focusing on her breathing and heavy backpack.
A boy came racing in between them riding a skateboard. (Name) glanced at him from the corner of her eye.
“Wow, that’s cool!” Gon called with a smile.
“Hey, kid on the skateboard, that’s not fair! You’re cheating!”
(Name) hummed and ran a bit ahead. She didn’t really feel like hearing Leorio harass a random kid. Kurapika watched her for a moment before following behind her.
“Sorry, he can be a bit annoying sometimes.”
Kurapika gave her a small smile, running beside her. (Name) shook her head. “No reason to be sorry. I’m just… not in the mood to hear someone yelling right now.”
“Hmm, that’s fair. Leorio can be pretty loud and obnoxious.”
(Name) hummed. “I happen to usually like loud and obnoxious people I’ll have you know. It’s just hard to to tolerate when I’m already tired from running.”
They both laughed. (Name) reached into her backpack and pulled out her canteen. “You thirsty? It’s been thirty minutes.”
He nodded. “Yes, thank you.”
Kurapika took a drink before he handed it back. The girl immediately shoved it back into her bag, Kurapika raising an eyebrow.
‘Why did she take it out if not to take a sip for herself?’
He didn’t voice this question, instead focusing on his legs, willing them forward.
“So, Kurapika, how old are you?”
The blonde tilted his head. “Why do you ask?”
She shrugged, shouldering her backpack again. “Just curious. If you want to know, I’m 18 myself.”
“17, 18 in April.”
(Name) nodded. ‘So we’re about the same age. Interesting…’
“And apparently Leorio is 19.”
“19!? He certainly doesn’t look the part.”
The two laughed again, (Name) nearly tripping, but quickly being steadied by Kurapika.
“Woah there, watch where you step. It is dark in here.”
(Name) nodded, lightly flustered from his grasp on her wrist. He let go quickly, seemingly unfazed by the physical contact.
3 hours pass by, and (Name) was beginning to get tired. The group stopped when Leorio collapsed, (Name) immediately rushing to his side. She dropped next to him, patting his back and offering him some water.
“Leorio!” Gon began running to join Leorio when the white haired boy, Killua called out to him.
“Hey, what do you think you’re doing? He’s finished, so just leave him behind.”
Gon frowned. “Come on, you don’t know that! Besides I can’t just leave him here, he’s my friend!”
“Friend?”
“Uh huh. That’s what I said.”
After chugging the rest of the water from one of her canteens, Leorio began to stand. “I’m not giving up… I came here to become a Hunter and that’s what I’m gonna do!”
(Name) watched as he rushed forward, Tonpa sighing.
“Hey take it easy, you need a break.”
“Shut up! If you’re just gonna stand around here, I’ll leave you… in my dust… hah hah… aww great, my legs won’t move.”
(Name) walked forward and handed him a handkerchief to wipe his sweat away with. Kurapika watched this interaction, his eyes watching her face twist into concern for a man she’d just met.
“So you’re not just in it for the money.”
Leorio huffed. “No, it’s all about money. There’s no other reason…”
“We don’t have time to argue about this. What do you think we should do now, Tonpa?”
(Name) stood up straight again, stretching lightly.
“Hmmm, wait a sec, that smell! Do ya remember? There was a sweet smell from that tunnel. Hey, I think it might help you recuperate!”
“What?”
“I thought I recognize that smell, I think it’s the sap of the healing cedar tree!” Tonpa exclaimed.
“Healing cedar?”
“Yeah! The sap is used by Hunters who often become exhausted in the forest. All you have to do is smell the aroma for a while and you can recover and keep on going.”
Kurapika stopped Tonpa from carrying Leorio away. “Wait a minute, it could be a trap.”
“Maybe, but we can’t just leave him behind now, can we? It’s a chance we’re gonna have to take.”
The blonde frowned. “Yes, but…”
“I’m king of the flunkies. You wanna know why I failed the exam 34 times? I’m a sucker for anyone that needs my help.”
(Name) raised an eyebrow at this. She glanced between Leorio and Tonpa.
“It’s okay. As soon as Leorio recovers, we’ll catch up to you, I promise.”
“I’m sorry, Tonpa… Gon, Kurapika, (Name), don’t worry about me. Go for it!”
(Name) crouched down and rearranged her backpack as the others spoke, then stood as they began to leave, watching Leorio carry him away with a suspicious look.
‘Don’t trust him one bit.’ She thought.
“What are you doing, are you coming or not?”
“Oh yeah, sorry to keep you waiting. You can go on ahead.”
Killua tilted his head. “You mean you’re not going to keep going?”
“Yeah, not unless it’s with Leorio.”
(Name) nodded. “Me either. I’m still worried for him, he wasn’t doing too hot…”
Both Gon and Kurapika noticed her staring into the distance, clutching her cardigan tightly.
“Kurapika, I’m going to see how they’re doing. Tonpa said they’d be okay, but I’m still worried.”
“I’ll come with you. We can always catch up to the group later on.”
Gon nodded towards Killua. “Alright, we’ll be back. Then, if you want, you can tell me your name. Because I still don’t know what it is.”
Kurapika glanced at (Name). “Will you be coming as well?”
She gave him a quick nod. “Of course. I can’t just abandon someone in need.”
He didn’t respond, racing after Gon towards where they had last seen Leorio and Tonpa heading.
But he did feel something stir in his chest when his eyes met hers.
‘She’s kind. It’s… nice to see that in such a place.’
The three stopped when they spotted Tonpa lying on the ground.
“Tonpa! What’s wrong?”
He groaned and lifted himself up slowly. “Oh, it’s you. Hurry, they need your help!”
“What happened back there?” Kurapika asked, glancing between Tonpa and the hallway he pointed to.
“It was a trap. Worst I’ve seen. Hurry!”
(Name) turned and ran towards where Tonpa had been pointing, the two following behind her.
The three continued to run until they came across Nicholas, one of the applicants.
“Nicholas! What’s wrong?”
The boy slowly moved so he was on his hands and knees, looking back at them with a delirious expression. Kurapika subconsciously pushed (Name) behind him.
The man began to walk away while laughing to himself. Kurapika watched him for a minute before speaking.
“Let’s go, we have to find Leorio.”
Gon and (Name) nodded. “Yeah.”
——————
“Leorio, can you hear me? Leorio!!!”
Gon continued to call out Leorio’s name as they ran, (Name) noticing Kurapika beginning to slow down.
“Kurapika?”
She stopped next to him, Gon circling back when he noticed they were no longer running. “What’s wrong?”
Kurapika eyes became hazy, the blonde holding up his weapons to defend himself. “The Phantom Troupe…”
His breath came out in short pants as his eyes began to turn a deep shade of scarlet.
“Oh no…please, don’t do it…”
He collapsed onto the ground, (Name) quick to kneel by his side. “Kurapika, what’s going on? Are you alright?”
“Can you hear me?” Gon asked, concern lacing his voice.
Kurapika stared at the ground as sweat beaded down his forehead.
He fell, lying against the ground. “Make… them stop… please…”
He stared off into the distance, unable to move. (Name) wasn’t sure what to do, so she rubbed soothing circles into his back. “Kurapika, no one’s here. It’s just us.”
He didn’t relax though. His eyes remained that same scarlet color. “We have to get going. I’ll carry him.”
(Name) hoisted Kurapika up and over her shoulder. Gon blinked. “Wow, you’re strong.”
She nodded, a small smile on her lips. “I grew up with two younger brothers who looooved piggy back rides.”
“Can I get one too? Later, I mean.”
(Name) laughed. “Sure, after we find Leorio.”
They continued, now slowed down because of Kurapika’s weight. She didn’t seem to have much trouble carrying him, only occasionally grunting and rearranging him on her shoulder.
“So, Gon, why do you want to be a Hunter?”
The young boy hummed, adjusting the line on his fishing pole. “Mmm, I’m not sure yet, but I want to find my dad. He’s a Hunter too.”
‘Find? Did his dad abandon him?’
(Name) nodded slowly. “I see.”
“What about you?”
The girl paused, her grip on Kurapika’s thigh tightening ever so slightly. “Well… I didn’t have many options.”
Gon tilted his head. “Really?”
“Yeah. I… just thought it would be fun to try out.”
She sighed. (Name) didn’t enjoy lying, especially to an honest boy like him, but the truth about the situation wasn’t something a child should know. Gon didn’t respond.
The hallway was quiet for a bit, until Kurapika grunted loudly. (Name) turned her head a bit to see if he’d woken up, only for him to begin struggling against her and cry out.
“Kurapika! Are you alright?”
He wiggled out of her grasp, and just as she was about to lean over and help him back up, the white haired boy from before appeared, kicking the blonde in the face.
“Kurapika!”
She rushed over to his side, crouching down as he lifted his upper half onto his forearms to look up.
She helped him into a sitting position, the blonde leaning against her for support.
“Kurapika?”
Gon ran over, Killua standing in front of (Name) and Kurapika. The red had left his eyes, leaving them the pretty brown color she had noticed when she first met him.
“Oh good, you’re finally back to normal!” Gon said, smiling.
“But, uh…”
Killua watched Kurapika and (Name) with his blue eyes. “There is no healing cedar tree.”
“Huh!?”
“The sap comes from the tree of hallucination, it’s been used by assassins for a long time. It’s victims re-experience the worst events of their lives, and it eventually drives them insane.”
Kurapika blinked slowly, realizing he’d been leaning against (Name). He pulled back, the girl reaching out to make sure he didn’t fall.
“How do you know that?” Gon asked.
“So that means Tonpa must of…”
Killua nodded at the blonde. “Yeah, that’s right, he set you guys up.”
Kurapika growled in anger, gripping onto (Name)’s sleeve.
“We should go.”
“Sure, I think I know a way we can save the old guy you were with, and catch up with the group again with a single move.”
(Name) helped Kurapika stand, the blonde grateful for her help. She’d only known him for an hour but was risking failing the exam to make sure him and Leorio were okay.
“A games no fun unless there’s some risks.”
“I’m glad we met up again! Are you going to tell me your name?”
The boy smiled at Gon. “It’s Killua.”
———————
“Okay Killua, tell us your idea.”
He pulled out a small object from his pocket. “It’s a bomb, small but effective.”
(Name) pulled Gon back by his shoulders a bit by instinct. He didn’t react, only glancing at her hands before responding.
“That’s a bomb?”
“Let’s blow up this wall and all the disgusting sap covering it.”
He placed the bombs all over the wall, (Name) stepping a few feet back. Kurapika watched as she carefully maneuvered Gon to a safe distance, the dark haired boy not seeming to mind at all.
The explosion began, the four leaping through the opening created by the bomb to grab Leorio.
They all fell onto the ground, (Name) being caught before she face planted by Kurapika. He pulled her up slightly before letting go.
“It worked! Not the easiest way to travel but it is fast! I guess there’s no turning back now.”
Kurapika blinked as (Name) knelt next to Leorio. “You alright?”
“Gon? (Name)? Kurapika? … Pietro?”
She patted his back gently. “It’s just us, Leorio.”
“You were hallucinating as a result of inhaling the sap. Tonpa fooled us all.”
Leorio gave (Name) a smile, accepting her hand when she offered to pull him to her feet.
“So that’s what that was. Guess I owe you guys one for saving my butt. But how did you manage to avoid it?”
Kurapika shook his head. “It was a close call for me.”
“(Name) and I were fine!”
“I guess it wouldn’t work on Gon cuz he’s still a kid, so he doesn’t have any problems yet.”
‘But why wouldn’t it work for (Name)?’
Leorio and Kurapika glanced at the girl, who was pulling out a bandaid to place on Gon’s knee. The two seemed to already be friendly with each other, laughing when Gon nearly tripped again.
“Hey old man, we don’t have time to sit around chatting.”
“OLD MAN!? What are you-“
“His names Killua!”
“Ready for the next round?”
Killua threw more bombs past Leorio’s head. “What was that, I heard a click.”
(Name) covered Gon and Killua with her cardigan, then shielded her ears.
“THEY’RE BOMBS!?”
The group of five jumped through the hole the bombs left, Gon handing (Name) her cardigan after they landed. “Thanks (Name)!”
Killua watched her with narrow eyes. ‘What does she get out of protecting us with that flimsy cardigan? What is she after..?’
A plume of smoke dispersed through the hallway, the sound of the other applicants coughing echoing on the walls.
“What exactly is going on here?” Satotz asked.
“Oh, uh, I’m sorry, but we had to break through the walls.” Gon said apologetically.
“I never said you couldn’t destroy the walls, but tell me, how is it that you survived after wondering through the tunnels of hallucinations? I’m quite impressed.”
(Name) pulled some debris from her hair, sighing. Leorio spotted Tonpa and rushed forward, grabbing him by the collar. “How dare you! I have a score to settle with you!”
“Stop, Leorio!”
(Name) pulled out a piece of hard candy and began to suck on it as her new comrades argued. Killua watched her do this and crouched down next to her.
“You got candy?”
She tilted her head then smiled. “Yes, would you like a piece?”
She offered him a piece of butterscotch candy, which he took. ‘… maybe she’s not so bad after all. I’ll still keep my distance but…’
He didn’t sense any malicious intent from her, just… something. Something that honestly unnerved him a little.
——————
(Name) and Kurapika kept pace with each other, eventually reaching Leorio who had taken off his shirt.
“I see, so you were lying to us before.”
“Didn’t lie! My objective has always been to make a lot of money! And whatever happened in the past, happened in the past! I have no interest in doing anything that won’t make me any money!”
Kurapika sighed. “I wish you luck.”
“I don’t need luck, I’m going to become a hunter or die trying!”
“No, a doctor.”
(Name) giggled next to them.
“Could you please not look at me like that, Kurapika? It makes me a little nervous. Now come on, let’s go!”
The blonde smiled. “You alright now, Leorio?”
“Yeah I’m fine, check it out! I don’t care how stupid I look! I’d keep running even if I was naked! Pretend you don’t know me if you want!”
(Name) gasped when Kurapika threw off his tabard and stuffed it into his bag. Kurapika glanced at her. “Maybe we should follow his example.”
She pulled off her cardigan and stuffed it into her backpack.
It didn’t take long for her to catch up to Leorio, who instantly noticed she was no longer covered by her thick cardigan.
“WOAH! You’ve got a nice figure. Plump and soft, just how I like th-“
Kurapika kicked the back of his legs, causing him to crumple before getting back up and running behind them.
“WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?”
The blonde shrugged. “Sorry, pervert senses were tingling.”
———————
They reached the outside, (Name) instantly unbuttoning her undershirt so she could fan herself. It was hot, and even with just her skirt and top she was sweating. “Yeesh, I’m burning up.”
She crouched down and fanned herself with her hand, ignoring what was going on. They seemed to be distracted by some kind of “impersonator”, but she didn’t care all that much.
The magician disposed of the impersonator and they began to run again.
‘Ah, maybe I should have listened a little…’ she thought, watching as the people around her began to be attacked by mysterious beasts.
She glanced around to see she’d already lost her group, sighing to herself.
“You lost, little girl?”
(Name) blinked before turning her head to the left to see Hisoka leaning against a tree. He smiled at her, holding a card in his hand.
“Dunno, maybe.”
She shrugged nonchalantly, giving Hisoka a bored look. “Hmm…”
Hisoka stepped forward, looking her over. “Not bad… you certainly have some potential.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Potential? What do you mean by that?”
The magician tossed a card in her direction, the girl not even flinching when it sliced her cheek. She continued to stare at him, the look in her eyes making him shiver.
It was the look of someone prepared to die.
“I see… so that’s why you’ve peaked my interest…”
He pointed behind him. “You pass. If you continue that way, you’ll catch up to the group in no time.”
He began to walk in the opposite direction, quickly passing her by.
“Wait, if that way is the right direction, then why are you going that way?”
He only chuckled. “I have some… business to take care of.”
She sighed and took out her dagger. “Whatever.”
She continued running in the direction he pointed to, the man barely restraining himself from letting out a moan.
“God, I can’t wait until she’s ready to fight.”
He chuckled to himself before continuing on his run.
“(Name)!”
Gon yelled out, nearly crashing into the girl. She paused, catching him in her arms. “Gon, you’re okay!”
She squeezed him lightly before noticing Kurapika as well. “(Name)…”
He stopped for a moment to catch his breath. “Your cheek…”
She blinked before swiping at her cheek with her sleeve. “Oh, this? You can thank Hisoka for it. He attacked me, then said I passed and pointed to where I could find the group. Still haven’t found them, though.”
Kurapika gripped his weapons tightly. “He’d even hurt a woman? That sick bastard…”
(Name) sighed. “It doesn’t hurt that much, and once we get to the sight of the second phase I’ll put a bandaid on it. I guess I’m just lucky to have survived this long, considering I’ve been alone these past thirty minutes.”
She offered the two a drink from her canteen, which they took. After that they continued, Kurapika keeping a close eye on the girl.
Killua was waiting near the edge of the crowd, and was the first one to see the three arrive.
“Gon, (Name)!”
He smiled, putting his hands in his pockets.
(Name) bent over to catch her breath before rushing over to the still unconscious Leorio.
Hisoka had pointed him out seconds before, winking at the girl. Kurapika scowled when he noticed Hisoka watching her every movement.
‘That creep. I’ll need to stick by her so he doesn’t get any weird ideas.’
Leorio didn’t remember anything, but seemed happy to have (Name) taking care of his injuries. Kurapika pulled her back to gently wipe her cheek.
“Leorio can wait a second, you need to tend to yourself first.”
She looked to the ground, nodding. ‘But I don’t really care about my own injuries…’
Nonetheless, she cleaned the cut and applied a hello kitty bandaid before going back to Leorio.
Satotz left shortly after wishing them all luck. Killua watched her tend to Leorio before walking off and chatting with Gon.
“Alright, you should be okay. It’s going to take a while for the swelling in your cheek to go down, though.”
She helped pull him to his feet before pulling her backpack over her shoulders. “Thank you, beautiful. If I had you to tend to me, I’d get hurt all the time.”
Kurapika narrowed his eyes. “I think I’ll be taking care of your injuries after this.”
(Name) chuckled, poking Leorio’s good cheek. “Don’t get hurt on purpose, big guy.”
———————
“It’s almost time!” Gon said.
“I’m getting a little nervous.” Kurapika replied, holding onto his satchel tightly.
“I think you’ll do fine.” she patted his shoulder gently, a smile on her lips.
“Just about anything could be waiting for us behind those doors…”
The clock rang soon after Leorio finished his sentence. The doors to the building opened, a loud growling sound making (Name) jump and hide behind Kurapika and Leorio.
“Thanks for waiting. Buhara, how are you feeling now, hungry?”
A woman with greenish blue hair sat in front of a giant of a man, who’s stomach had been causing the loud noise.
“Yeah Menchi, I think anyone who has ears can hear that I’m starving!”
She smiled shyly at the group in front of her. “As you might have guessed, us two Gourmet Hunters are in charge of judging the Second Phase.”
“Gourmet Hunters?”
“What’s that?”
“Gourmet Hunters travel around the world collecting all sorts of exotic ingredients. They then use them to create new innovative dishes that have never been tasted. Before becoming Hunters, most of them were gourmet chefs.” Kurapika answered
‘Hmm, he’s smart.’ (Name) thought, watching the blonde.
“Hmm, so then this phase…”
“Right! So the subject for this phase, is cooking!”
“COOKING!?”
(Name) smiled. ‘This is actually something I can do!’
She listened to the two examiners, nodding along.
“Man, I’ve never cooked anything before in my life!” Leorio said with a sigh. (Name) was taken aback by this.
“Never? How are you still alive?”
Kurapika looked away from the girl. ‘I’ve never cooked either, but I’ll keep that to myself,’ he thought, not wanting to embarrass himself.
Gon smiled. “I know how to cook!”
The three turned towards the boy. “You serious? What can you make?” Leorio asked.
“I can make a lot of different stuff, but my specialty is macaroni and cheese!”
“Macaroni… and cheese?”
(Name) giggled. “Oh, Gon, that’s great for your age.”
“Well, I guess you could call that cooking.”
Kurapika gave the boy a smile as Leorio laughed. “Come on, it doesn’t take much of a chef to make a simple dish like macaroni and cheese.”
“Hey, that’s not true! Aunt Mito always said no one makes it like me!”
(Name) nodded along, patting his head.
“I’m sure she’s right. Maybe you can make it for me sometime.” Leorio said, snickering.
“Met too.” Kurapika agreed, seemingly amused by the innocent boy.
(Name) gave him a piece of candy, quickly grabbing a piece for Killua as well. “Here, I’ll want some of that macaroni and cheese as well. Is this payment good enough?”
She winked, the boy laughing. “Yes, this will do!”
“Listen up! My order is…”
(Name) quieted down, glancing back to the large man known as Buhara.
“A whole roasted pig! It’s my absolute favorite, and living in the forest is the great stamp! The most ferocious and delicious pig of them all!”
“The great stamp?” The entire group asked in unison.
The ground began to shake underneath them, a herd of pigs barreling towards them. Kurapika pulled (Name) out of the way just in time, the girl letting out a gasp as her skirt flew up from the gust of wind accompanying the stampede.
She was thankful she had worn a pair of shorts underneath, but other people weren’t.
“Aww, there’s shorts.”
(Name) and Kurapika turned to look at Leorio at the same time.
“Why do you sound so disappointed?”
Kurapika shook his head at (Name). “You don’t want to know what goes through that pervert’s mind.”
He ushered her away, glaring back at Leorio as he did.
They continued running away from the giant pigs, (Name) and Kurapika teaming up.
“It’s snout is tough, did you see how it launched all those grown men?”
Kurapika nodded. “Yes, but it should have some sort of weakness. Perhaps…”
From the corner of his eye, Kurapika watched Gon hit the stamp over the head, causing it to fall over dead.
“(Name), I have a plan, but you’re going to have to trust me.”
They hid behind a tree so he could explain. “You’re going to grab a thick tree branch, and I’m going to throw you onto the pigs back. Then, you’ll hit it over the head. We’ll repeat this twice.”
She seemed a bit uncomfortable with this plan, glancing to the pig sniffing around for them. “Oh um… are you sure you can pick me up?”
He tilted his head, looking her up and down. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I be able to?”
Too embarrassed to answer that, she agreed to the plan.
“Okay, on the count of three, we’ll rush out to attack.” Kurapika said, grabbing her hand. (Name) looked down, her face heating up ever so slightly.
“One!”
“Two!”
“THREE!”
They rushed out, causing the pig to run towards them. Kurapika grabbed (Name) by the waist and threw her into the air. “AHHH!”
She landed with a huff onto the pig’s back, groaning.
“You’ve got it, (Name)! Hit it now!”
She recovered quickly, bringing the stick down with as much force as she could manage. The pig collapsed, (Name) barely moving out of the way before she was crushed.
“You did it!”
Kurapika rushed over to help her up, smiling. The girl rubbed her bottom. “That landing hurt, I’m not excited to do that again.”
He gave her a sympathetic smile. “Sorry, it’s just the safest way to do it.”
The two repeated the action, Kurapika helping her off the second time.
“Owie…”
Kurapika could only gently pat her shoulder. “You alright?”
She nodded slowly. “As alright as I can be, after being thrown in the air and landing on a pig.”
Kurapika laughed at this, the girl joining him.
————————
Buhara ended up passing everyone that entered a roasted pig.
Menchi scolded him for passing everyone, but (Name) wasn’t listening. She was busy staring at Kurapika’s hand, that was placed on her shoulder.
“I’m not an armrest, ya know.”
Kurapika pulled his hand back, cheeks going pink. “Oh, sorry! I meant to say thank you for your help, but I got distracted by Buhara and Menchi.”
She giggled. “Well thank you for coming up with the plan. Now we’ve both passed half of the second phase!”
He relaxed, returning her smile.
“For the next part of this phase you’ll be filling my order, which is… sushi.”
Leorio tilted his head. “Sushi?”
“Sushi? Wonder what that is…” killua thought aloud.
“Any ideas?” Kurapika asked (Name), turning to her. She shook her head.
“No, unfortunately I’ve never heard of that dish before.” The two sighed.
“You guys look pretty stressed out! But I don’t blame you for not knowing what it is. Sushi is an ethnic dish from a small island country. I’ll give you a little hint. Inside you’ll find your work stations!”
(Name) tilted her head. “Work station?”
The applicants walked inside, seeing various kitchen work stations.
“Here’s where you’ll prepare the dish. Each station has all the essential tools and ingredients. I’ve even prepared the rice for you, which is necessary to make sushi. And now for one final hint! I’m particularly fond of hand molded nigiri sushi!”
(Name) stood at her station, between Kurapika and Leorio.
“Alright then, you guys can get started! This test will conclude as soon as I’m full. Until then you can serve me as many pieces as you want.”
(Name) watched Leorio stare at the barrel of rice. “Hmm… hand molded? That should give me some sort of indication of what it’s supposed to look like. But that still doesn’t tell me what other things I need to use.”
Kurapika hummed. “Nigiri sushi… I’m not sure exactly how this food is supposed to be made, but I think I’ve read about it somewhere.”
“Really?”
“Let’s see, if I recall, it’s made mostly of rice, mixed with vinegar and some type of raw fish.”
“RAW FISH!?”
(Name) jumped at the sound of his voice, Kurapika’s eyebrow twitching in annoyance.
“We’re stuck out here in the middle of a forest!”
Kurapika threw his spoon at Leorio, hitting his forehead.
“Would you be quiet? There are rivers in forests you know and we could fish in them!”
“Hmph.”
The two looked around, seeing all the other applicants staring at them. Menacingly.
They raced out of the building, leaving the three alone. (Name) set her bag down and began running after them, Kurapika and Leorio following her lead.
“It’s no fair! They were eavesdropping!”
Kurapika sighed. “It’s not their fault, I was the one who shot my mouth off.”
“This sucks! Now everyone knows what’s in it!”
(Name) patted Kurapika on the shoulder. “I’m sure they would have figured it out anyways. Considering we were about to leave and return with fish.”
He gave her a small smile. “Thanks.”
———————
The three returned with fish of varying types. (Name) traded Gon a few pieces of candy in exchange for a few fish.
“Well, all that’s left is to cook. Good luck boys!”
She gave them both a reassuring pat on the back before beginning her cooking process.
(Name) thought back to what Menchi had said, along with Kurapika’s limited information.
‘Does that mean the fish is supposed to be molded into the rice? Or the rice covers it?’
She tilted her head as she began to clean the fish. ‘Well, I assume I’ll at least need to cut it into fillets. After all, no one is dumb enough to serve her a whole, raw fish, right?”
Wrong.
(Name) watched with an incredulous expression as Leorio served Menchi an entire fish, still flipping around, halfway covered in rice.
Of course, Menchi rightly knocked the plate away. Leorio sulked back to his station.
“She didn’t like it…”
(Name) raised an eyebrow, but stayed quiet. ‘So he wasn’t kidding when he said he’s never cooked before…’
“What are you making?”
(Name) looked up to see Kurapika peeking over her shoulder. “Hey, no peeking!”
She bumped him with her hip, scolding him. “No cheating off of me!”
He pouted. “I wasn’t trying to… I was just curious.”
“Well be curious in that direction.”
“No, because you’re pointing at Leorio.”
“HEY!”
(Name) giggled to herself as she finished her dish, beaming. “I’m done!”
She carried her plate to Menchi, setting it down in front of her. “Here’s my entry!”
Menchi hummed, seemingly interested from the smell alone.
“It’s sushi! I um… think!”
Menchi looked down at the dish. It definitely wasn’t sushi, but the girl had obviously tried, and if Menchi appreciated anything, it was effort.
The blue haired woman took a bite. “Hmm… too salty, but good try. It’s not quite sushi, but it tastes good. Go back and try again.”
(Name) blinked, then nodded. She felt dejected, she’d tried her hardest!
She walked back to her station, grabbing her bag. “(Name), what are you doing?”
“I give up.”
The two stared at her. “You give up? Why??”
“I’m a failure, I couldn’t make sushi.”
“(Name).”
Kurapika patted her head. “Don’t be so hard on yourself. Your dish is the only one Menchi has even taken a bite of so far. Why don’t you try again?”
(Name) pouted. “… I’m going to go sit by the river.”
The two watched her walk away, her head hung low.
“Drama queen.” Leorio said, before getting back to his work.
“Well…” Kurapika stared in her direction for a moment. “She’s certainly… dramatic.”
But the blonde couldn’t help following her with his eyes, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Hey Kurapika, come try this! (Name) had some leftovers!”
Kurapika sighed. “You shouldn’t just eat the food she prepared…”
But he did join Leorio, taking a bite. “Oh wow, it is really good.”
The two snacked on her leftover food before getting back to work.
(Name)’s eyebrow twitched when she noticed Hisoka already sitting by the river. ‘Fuck it. Yolo.’
(Name) sat down a few feet away from him, tossing rocks into the water. She wasn’t even attempting to skip them, just throwing them into the river.
“… (Name).”
She hesitantly looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “What?”
“What are you doing here?”
She huffed. “Sulking.”
“Hmm.”
(Name) went back to her rock throwing, Hisoka now watching her. “Gave up that easily, huh?”
She paused. “As if you didn’t as well?”
He smirked. “Touché.”
The two sat in silence for a bit, before (Name) heard someone running up behind her. “(Name)- oh.”
The person paused a good distance away from her. “Can you come here? Away from…”
Hisoka raised his hand. “I’m not going to hurt her. We were just… talking.”
‘Oh now people are going to think I’m friendly with the murder clown.’
(Name) stood up, and stuck out her tongue at Hisoka for good measure. ‘There, now people will think I hate him! Orrr that I have a death wish. Which isn’t exactly wrong but-‘
“(Name), we know what sushi is now!”
It was Kurapika, and he was smiling at her. “Come on, now we’ve got a real chance to pass!”
Her pulled her back to the building by her hand, smiling widely. She couldn’t help but smile too.
‘He thought of me.’
———————
Though they all tried their hardest, even after figuring out how to make sushi, none of them could satisfy Menchi.
She poured herself a cup of green tea, sipping slowly. “Ah..”
(Name) had just given her the last piece of sushi, and had been rejected yet again.
“Sorry, but I’m completely stuffed!”
Hanzo blinked. “So then, what happens now?”
“Like I said, the test is over and this time no one passed. Thank you, come again.”
The air grew tense, (Name) too busy pouting to really care. ‘But I tried so hard…’
She only looked up when Gon stole Menchi’s phone.
“Oh dear.”
She turned her head when she heard someone destroy one of the cooking stations. ‘Sore loser.’ (Name) thought, munching on piece of candy.
“Alright, I’ll show you what it means to be a Gourmet Hunter.”
Menchi left, saying she’d be back in about an hour. (Name) took this as an opportunity to chat with Buhara.
“Sorry that people are being disrespectful. I’m actually a chef myself, but not on any level close to you two.”
Buhara seemed a bit surprised by her comment. “Ah, that makes sense. Menchi seemed to enjoy your dishes the best. If she hadn’t been so picky today, I’m sure she would have passed you.”
(Name) nodded. “Yeah, but that’s not how things went.”
She sat down next to him, taking out a piece of candy and handing it to the man. “Here, I know after I’ve eaten a savory meal I like to have something a little sweet to balance it out.”
‘This girl…’
He took the candy. ‘I’m starting to understand Menchi’s interest in her.’
(Name) and Buhara chatted, exchanging recipes and laughing over stories about cooking gone wrong.
“Is she becoming friends with the examiner?”
Kurapika watched her, eyes wide. Leorio cheered. “Yeah, butter him up (Name)! Use your womanly charm and get us a passing grade!”
Kurapika smacked him over the head. “First of all, she’s not doing that. Secondly, if she was, you screaming out her plans would foil them.”
“Oh.”
Menchi returned, momentarily glancing at (Name) and Buhara with a raised eyebrow before showing off her finds.
(Name) watched as the brute from before kicked the table Menchi had served the plate on over, nearly hitting (Name) in the face.
To her surprise, Buhara extended a hand to shield her. “Oh, thank you!”
He gave her a nod. “No problem.”
A few applicants attempted to get near Machi, but Buhara hit them with surprising strength. “Ooo get ‘em!!” (Name) called, cheering him on.
The wrestler Todo ended up pushing Buhara over, but the man seemed unfazed. “Ooo, you’re pretty strong. Guess it’s time to get serious. Think you can handle it?”
Menchi stepped in. “I can take care of him by myself.”
(Name) stared wide eyed as Menchi beat the absolute SHIT out of Todo, only using her legs.
‘That’s kind of hot.’ (Name) thought.
Kurapika pulled (Name) to safety. “Come here, it’s not safe over there.”
“Oh.”
She hadn’t realized, but it had become kind of a fighting zone. Kurapika noticed she kept staring at Menchi, but didn’t think much. Her and Satotz were arguing, (Name) only catching the end of it.
“I was trying to see how resourceful these guys were. Could they face a challenge for which they had little or no experience?”
“That may be true, Menchi, but since no one passed that test, don’t you think it may have been a bit too difficult?”
‘Oh god the sky is talking.’
“It’s an airship with the Hunter Association’s logo!”
‘Oh. That makes more sense.’ (Name) thought, being pulled outside by Kurapika.
“Oh shit an old guy!” (Name) gasped, pointing at an old man falling from the sky. “I was not expecting to see an old man die today.”
The man landed, seemingly unfazed. ‘Oh so he’s some sort of wizard. Wait did she say chairman?’
Killua and Gon seemed surprised he hadn’t broken his legs. “I’m surprised he isn’t a chairman pancake.” (Name) said, patting Gon on the head.
Apparently, he was the highest authority in the Hunter Association.
(Name) stood near Menchi, glancing at her at her as Netero talked. ‘She’s cute.’
“I have an idea. We’re going to give them all a second chance at the test, and I would like for you to continue being the examiner for this. But this time around I want you to demonstrate how it’s done before the applicants make an attempt. Does that sound reasonable? I think this will go a long way for everyone to accept your ruling.”
The group of five were relieved that they would be getting a second chance.
“The test is, a boiled egg.”
———————
The group rode on the airship to a large mountain.
“So, this is the spot.” Menchi said, standing before a cliff.
“What is this place?”
“How deep is it, I can’t see the bottom?”
Menchi smiled. “Not to worry, at the bottom is a deep river. Now, watch and learn boys.”
She fell backwards down the cliff.
“This deep ravine happens to be home of the spider eagle. And she’s gone down to retrieve one of its eggs.” Netero informed the group. (Name) peeked over the cliff.
“Wow!”
Menchi climbed back up with ease, pulling the egg from her bra. “You might want to be a little careful, the river runs very fast so if you fall you’ll be whisked out to sea before you know what hit ya!”
(Name) handed her bag to Buhara. “Could you watch this for me, please?”
He nodded, the group gasping when she rushed forward and jumped. “(Name)!”
They all followed after her, (Name) holding onto one of the strings and swinging up to stand on one. “Whew, I’m awful at the balancing act!”
Kurapika stared at her, blinking. “(Name), please be careful.”
She blinked. “Oh, sorry. I’ll try.”
Killua glanced at her from his spot, already finding an egg. ‘She should be alright…’ he thought, before going back to his task.
The boy furrowed his eyebrows. ‘Why am I concerned for her safety? She’s just some woman…’
Eagles began attacking the contestants, (Name) managing to climb up to Kurapika. The boy held onto her, keeping her steady. “Did you get an egg?”
(Name) nodded, pointing to her chest. “I’m following Menchi’s example!”
The blonde blushed, quickly changing the subject. “… let’s climb up before the eagles come back.
———————
Menchi had them drop all of their eggs into a large pot. “Don’t think the test is over yet! You still have to boil them. Over cooking or under cooking will fail you!”
Buhara began to sweat, staring at the pot. (Name) placed a hand on his arm. “You alright, Buhara?”
“I think he knows something we don’t!”
The group began pulling their eggs out, (Name) patting his arm after. Menchi seemed pissed. “You couldn’t have made it anymore obvious!”
Menchi glanced at (Name) yet again, calming slightly. “This is an ordinary chicken egg, and this is a spider eagle egg. Now go ahead and compare how they taste!”
(Name) glanced at Menchi, before halving her egg and handing it to her. “Here!”
The woman blushed, taking it. “Oh, um… thank you, applicant 406.”
“My name is (Name).” She said with a sweet smile.
“Thank you, (Name).”
The women smiled, eating together. “Menchi, this is delicious! Wow, gourmet hunters sure know their stuff!”
The woman seemed to become flustered from (Name)’s praise. “I appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. Buhara told me how kind you were to him earlier. I…”
She shook her head, turning her attention to the group. “Listen up, for the second phase, 43 pass! Menchi’s Menu is over!”
The all cheered, (Name) pulling in her four friends in for a hug. “Hehe!”
The group boarded the airship, on their way to the next phase.

Smile For Him | Karma x Reader
Pairing: Karma x Reader Summary: Your life has been falling apart due to the recent events of your parent's divorce. But since it's Christmas and your boyfriend's birthday, you tried to act as if everything is okay, but Karma sees through your fake smile.
●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●
It's supposed to be the happiest time of the year. It's your boyfriend's birthday and Christmas. The holiday spirit has to be overflowing you by now. But, it isn't, no matter how much you wanted it to be. Last year, you were spending time with your family. Everything was perfect. And here you are, one year later, living with your mother, talking about what the two of you would be doing on Christmas.
A Christmas without your father. He's out of town. Separating from your mother took a number on his mental health, so he is spending the holidays with your grandparents. You won't see him until January.
Of course, your mother understands that this was hard on you, but promises you that Christmas with her could still be fun. You guys talked about it a bit more but decided that you would rather spend Christmas with Karma instead.
She tried not to get too offended and figured it was for the best.
You did feel better knowing you would be spending the day with him. However, the pain of your parent's separation stopped you from being fully content.
When you saw him, you made sure to keep a smile on your face. It's Christmas and it's his special day. You can't have your personal problems ruin his day. Especially since Karma has already been your rock throughout the entire divorce procedure.
"Guess which hand is holding your gift." Karma smiles, keeping both of his hands behind his back.
You looked up from your hot cocoa and blinked.
"Oh. You didn't have to get me anything."
"It may be my birthday, but it's still Christmas. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't give my favourite girl anything?"
Normally, you would internally swoon when he calls you his favourite girl, but not today.
"Now hurry up and pick a hand." He urged you.
You weren't really in the mood to play this game with him, but, it is his birthday. The least you could do is play along.
"Um..." Your eyes lazily darted between both hands. "The left one."
Karma grinned. "Correct." He reveals your gift that looked perfectly wrapped. "Actually, I was using both hands to hold it so either way you won."
You strained a smile and accepted the present before putting your hot cocoa on the table.
"Thanks, Karma."
Before you can even open it, Karma places a hand on your lower back to push you forward to let you rest your forehead against his chest.
"You don't have to pretend everything is okay for my sake," Karma spoke softly with a smile and a gentle pat. "I mean, it's cute that you're trying, but I don't want to see a fake smile on your pretty face."
His hug and gentle words caused you to reach your breaking point.
Unable to control yourself, you started to shake as tears were building up until it all came pouring out.
You cried and cried, even if you promised yourself you wouldn't today, worried you would ruin something that was considered a magical day.
Karma didn't think you ruined it, though. Just having you try and make his day special was enough for him.
When you stopped, you were able to enjoy Christmas with Karma somewhat.
Maybe next year you will be in a much better place.

🎶 Lost in the Light 🎶
After hours of trying to sleep, Zelda rose from her makeshift bed in her parent’s workroom sometime before dawn. She paused momentarily to ensure that Violette was well asleep and then headed to the front door of the cottage. Her feet still knew the path in the darkness as though it hadn’t been over a decade since she had last done this.
Stepping out into the night was almost like stepping back in time. The air swirled with the same sounds and smells that she had known her whole life, the same ones that she had always relied on to clear her mind and cradle her thoughts when she couldn’t sleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she entered a clearing that she recognized from her youth she stopped to look up at the shivering leaves. Far too embarrassed to speak aloud in the silence, Zelda spoke in her mind, Poppa, I suppose if you are anywhere you must be here. Are you with Mother and Rosella? I would like to think so, to think that none of you are alone.
She stopped for a moment, hearing the morning birds begin to sing and taking a deep breath. There was no answer to her question. No sounds other than the songbird. As if refusing to admit her own perceived foolishness, Zelda quelled her disappointment and continued,
How is Antoine, Poppa? Can you see him? Can you hear him? It’s been so long since I’ve heard his voice. Over two months now, and Violette asks after him constantly. Even she knows that we should be home by now, that it has been longer than I intended to be here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A momentary anger rose in Zelda’s throat, one that she had been stifling every day since she boarded the steamer. She told herself that she had considered staying in England for Violette’s future, for her safety and happiness; but she knew that her daughter couldn’t have that without her father.
No, she had considered staying here out of spite and fear, of keeping Violette away to make Antoine suffer for her loneliness. She was angry, inordinately angry that Antoine wasn’t there - that he hadn’t boarded a ship to come and find her as the weeks went by. But that was the thought of a young girl with young dreams, the type that had once wandered these woods with her mind full of romance novels and grand gestures.
Her years in New Orleans and the harshness of the world had tempered the girl she had once been; for Zelda knew that Antoine’s memories of the bloodshed of war here were blinding, and that her absence wouldn’t change the reasons he had stayed. It would only cause him to dig his heels in deeper and fall further into the trenches of his own mind. After almost ten years together she knew that she couldn’t pull him out, and that he had to want to let go before she could truly help him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And she wanted nothing more than for him to let go, to experience the same freedom that she had felt in England, the unexpected lightness in her soul and her heart when she realized that she was no longer afraid of the things which once brought her so much pain.
For to her great surprise, she had borne every ounce of grief and memory without breaking. She had found an unexpected peace here that could perhaps bring more stability and security for herself and her daughter. Yet it was also devoid of the life and love she had found in New Orleans. For as much memory as was in this place, she couldn’t deny that it felt no more like home than after her father died. The strongest bonds to her family were now all truly gone, each of them nothing but memories amongst the leaves of the Bramblewood.
She knew that she could spend her days tilling the fields that her father had sown and attempting to replace the fulfillment that being somewhere ever-changing brought her. But it also meant the loss of her daughter’s trust and the love of her life; for despite his actions she did still love him, deeply, and wanted nothing more than to be with him. Although she knew what the safe choice was, her months here had shown her that the pain of being apart was even worse than the pain of being together and that she was at home with the family she had found in New Orleans.
Poppa, tell me please, what do I do?

‘Thank you. That will be all’, you told the maid after she had finished lacing up the back of your dress. The lady nods and silently retreats from your chambers. You scanned yourself in the mirror, feeling content with the way your silver gown looked on your body. The bare shoulders and long flowy sleeves added an elegant touch to the otherwise rather simple dress. Your long hair was flowing freely down your shoulders, only two intricate braids wrapping their way from your face to the back of your head. You reached down to pick up the delicate necklace you intended to wear tonight when you heard a knock on your door.
‘Come in’, you turned around to see who your visitor was and saw your mother stepping into the room.
‘Good evening, Y/N’, she smiled at you.
‘Mother, to what do I owe the pleasure?’, you bowed slightly, watching her come closer to where you were standing.
‘Tell me, are you enjoying your time in King’s Landing?’, Rhaenyra looked around your room, taking a glance at the book you had abandoned by the fireplace earlier this afternoon.
‘Yes mother. It feels good to be home’, you replied and a weak smile spread on the older woman’s face. You knew that your mother had always loved King’s Landing and had only left to keep the peace within the family.
‘You have been spending time with Aemond, I hear’, she stated, now directly looking at you for the first time since entering your chambers. Your mother was good at hiding her emotions and you struggled to read her. She did seem rather calm though, so you decided to be honest with her.
‘I have. It has been a great pleasure seeing him again after so many years’, you answered, keeping your eyes on every move your mother made.
She closed the gap between you too, gently grabbing the necklace from your palms and motioning for you to face the mirror. You lifted your hair out of the way and Rhaenyra found her place behind you, helping you with the necklace.
‘You’ve grown to be so beautiful’, she said, putting her hands on your upper arms, smiling proudly. Her eyes met yours in the mirror and she spoke up again.
‘Please be careful around him. He has grown vengeful after losing his eye. That is why it burdens me to ask you for what I am about to say’, your mother sighed deeply and you felt fear rising in you. What could be so horrible for her to feel so bad.
‘Your grandfather, the king, is dying and we are not united as one. I know Otto Hightower is conspiring against me and wants to crown Aegon in my stead. An alliance between the two families could save the House of the Dragon. It could end a war for succession before it has even started. This proposal has not been presented to King Viserys and Queen Alicent yet, so I am not asking you to consider a marriage with Prince Aemond at this moment. But you will keep him company during dinner tonight. Show the good will of our family to forget about the past and look into the future together as one family and one House.’
You could see the guilt in your mother’s eyes while speaking. After all, she had gone through an arranged marriage herself and it did not exactly end well. And you would lie if you said that the idea of getting married didn’t scare you. But this was Aemond, your childhood friend and companion. You knew he was still hiding behind that cold and hollow facade he had built for himself. You just had to give him time, of that you were convinced.
‘I would be honoured to give myself in order to repair the rift that has separated our two families and protect the realm from the dire consequences of this conflict’, you said, picking your words carefully.
‘Spoken like a true queen,’ your mother squeezed your arms and smiled sympathetically at you through the mirror, ‘come, it is time to join the feast.’
A short walk later, your mother and you entered the dining room to find most of the family had already gathered. Your brothers were talking to their betrotheds while Daemon looked at them, clearly uninterested in the conversation. On the other side of the table, Queen Alicent was in deep conversation with her father. And Aegon simply kept staring at his cup of wine, trying to block out his sister-wife’s constant stream of thoughts that she shared with him without a break.
Aemond was the first one to notice you. He rose to his feet before the rest of the tables could follow suit. All eyes were on your mother besides Aemond’s. The little gulp and flicker of adoration in his eye, on his otherwise so emotionless exterior did not pass you. You tried your best to hide your smile and gave your mother’s hand a little reassuring squeeze before you both separated and walked to your respective seats.
As everyone sat down and Daemon helped your mother to her seat, Aemond pulled your chair up for you.
‘My princess’, he nodded at you, helping you sit down to keep up proper appearances in front of his mother.
‘Thank you, my prince’, you smiled at him after he had settled down next to you. Everyone at the table had gone back to their original conversations, so it was just you and him. Relieved at that realisation, you let out a small sigh.
‘Has life at court already exhausted you, my lady?’ Aemond glanced at you, a cocky grin spread on his lips.
‘It has indeed. Things seemed simpler when we were children’, you answered, reaching for your cup.
‘You might be the only one at this table feeling that way’, he let out a bitter laugh and took a sip of wine, trying to numb some of the uneasiness of this whole dinner.
Before you could answer, the doors opened again and various guards showed up, carrying the king inside and taking him to his seat between his wife and your mother. You knew you had seen him earlier that day, but being so close to him, you only now realised the gravity of his condition. Seeing your grandfather like this, suffering from constant pain was almost unbearable for you.
On the table, Aemond’s right hand subtly touched your left. It was the most innocent of touches, to comfort you. He saw how the king’s condition affected you. You turned your head to face him and saw worry flash through his eyes, barely noticeable, yet breaking up his cold demeanour. For a moment it felt like it was just the two of you, wrapped up in your own world, where family conflicts and social expectations didn’t exist. You could feel your heartbeat speeding up as you looked into Aemonds violet eye, trying to decipher the mischievous expression in it.
You forced yourself to look away and bow your head when the queen called to prayer. She didn’t get very far with her words to the gods before you felt Aemond removing his hand from yours and placing it on your knee instead.
It startled you a little, shocked, that Aemond would be so direct in front of his family, while praying nonetheless. You glanced over to him, but he kept his gaze straight ahead, eye fixated on the wall across. A cocky smirk covered his face again and you knew he was playing with you, trying to see how you would react. You placed your hand over his, gently stroking the back of his hand with your thumb.
As soon as the prayer was finished, you turned your head towards him.
‘Are you enjoying your evening so far, Prince Aemond?’ You innocently looked at him.
His lip twitched and he let his fingers glide a little further up your thigh before he met your gaze. You tried to ignore the heat you felt rising within your chest and did your best not to show him the effect that he had on you.
‘I believe this evening is turning out to be less dull than I expected’, his eyes were wandering over your body. He moved his hand from your leg and brought it up to gently touch your jaw, just below your ear. Grabbing a small strain of your hair and playing with it, he mused ‘You look beautiful tonight, Y/N.’
That made you blush. You never expected to hear him say such kind words to you. You stared down on your lap, not quite knowing how to react.
His fingers let go of your hair and chuckled softly. There it was again, that rough sound, that made your heart melt a little any time you heard it.
‘Am I making you uncomfortable, princess?’, he asked, his voice a mix between amusement and a genuine hint of worry.
Pulling yourself back together and forcing yourself to ignore how he made you feel, you looked back up, staring right into his bright violet eye.
‘Not at all. I am rather enjoying your company so far’, you gave him a mischievous smile and reached for your wine.
It was only then that you noticed your brother bickering with Aegon. You wanted to intervene, when the king slowly rose from his seat. Sudden silence fell over the table as everyone stared at him with concern in their eyes, curious to hear what it was that he had to say.
‘It both gladdens my heart and fills me with sorrow to see these faces around the table. The faces most dear to me in all the world, yet grown so distant from each other in the years past’, he announced before lifting his arm to uncover his face.
You instinctively reached for Aemond’s hand when the mask hit the table and you saw your grandfather’s face for the first time in years. A gaping hole lying where his eye once was. The prince’s grip tightened around your fingers and worry filled his eye once he noticed the tears welling up in yours.
‘My own face is no longer a handsome one, if indeed it ever was. But tonight I wish you to see me as I am. Not just a king but your father. Your brother. Your husband. And your grandsire. Who may not, it seems, walk for much longer among you’, the king spoke slowly, pain covering every word he said. You took a deep breath, trying to keep up a dignified expression and stop the tears from falling down your face. Aemond’s fingers drew gentle circles on the back of your hand, making your heart jump a little.
‘Let us no longer hold ill feelings in our hearts. The crown cannot stand strong if the House of the Dragon remains divided. But set aside your grievances. If not for the sake of the crown, then for the sake of this old man who loves you all so dearly’, you caught your mother’s eyes, who had been looking at you during these last few words. You knew she was thinking about the proposal she had made earlier.
As the king finally sat down, your mother raised her glass to the queen. More toasts followed before the music finally started playing and your brother asked Princess Helaena for a dance. Scanning the room, you saw everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. At least for a short while, your families seemed to be at peace.
‘Are you alright, princess?’, Aemond's words pulled you out of your thoughts, ‘the king’s face seems to have left you rather distraught.’
His hand was still holding yours and he watched you intently. His demeanour seemed unfazed and you could not read the emotions behind his eye. But then you realised. He interpreted your reaction to the king’s missing eye as disgust, maybe even fear. So he had once again closed himself up, protecting himself and hiding behind his arrogance and anger.
You gripped his hand tighter and rested your second hand on top of his, fully turning your body towards him. As you intently focused on his eye, you tried to give every word you were about to say the emphasis that it needed, hoping that the true meaning behind them would reach Aemond.
‘It was not his face that distraught me, my prince. It was the mere fact that my dear grandsire seems to have less time left in this realm, than I had hoped he would. I regret missing so many years of his late life, hiding away in a castle, growing so distant from him’, a deep sigh escaped your lips, ‘I regret growing so distant from you, Aemond. I wish I could turn back time and act differently. I would fight harder to get them to stop before it was too late. And I would fight for being allowed to write to you after we left.’
His face was still bare of any emotion, but at least he hadn’t pulled away his hand and let you hold it. He just kept looking at you and you weren’t sure if it was to keep his feelings hidden, or because he tried to hide his hatred towards you in front of your family, even after your grandfather had left the room again.
A slight chuckle from the other end of the table brought you back to reality. You saw it was Luke who couldn’t keep a straight face and he was staring right at Aemond. A glance back at the prince sitting beside you and the table in front of you, made you realise what had happened.
You saw Aemond’s eyes darkening with anger as he pulled his hand away.
‘Aemond, no’, you muttered, trying to reach out to his arm to calm him down, but it was too late.
His fist slammed on the table and he got up with one swift motion, holding out his cup.
‘Final tribute’, he announced, ‘To the health of my nephews: Jace, Luke and Joffrey. Each of them handsome, wise, mh, strong.’
‘Aemond’, the queen warned and you looked up at the prince beside you, hoping he would stop.
‘Come, let us drain our cups to these three strong boys’, Aemond declared. All eyes were on him and the mood had instantly gone foul.
‘I dare you to say that again’, Jace yelled at him, bitterness in his tone.
‘Why? It was only a compliment. Do you not think yourself strong?’, Aemond innocently asked, taking a few steps towards your brother. And then, within seconds, Luke had gotten up to help his brother, but Aegon immediately grabbed him while Jace swung his fist, punching Aemond’s face, who seemed rather unfazed.
You heard your mother shout and got up yourself, trying to make your way towards Aemond, who simply shoved your brother before the guards could intervene. When he turned around, the prince gave you a wicked smirk that broke your heart. After all these years, he was still in pain. But those were your brothers he was attacking. And you couldn't just not protect them. For once, it was your face that had frozen and lacked any emotion towards the man you had missed so much for far too long.
Alicent joined you both, scolding her son who seemed to show no remorse whatsoever, simply stating that he intended to show how proud he was of his family.
He turned again, facing your family, taunting them some more and just as Jace was about to hit him again, Daemon intervened, stepping in between them and giving Aemond a menacing glare, waiting for his next action. But nothing happened. Rhaenyra had sent your brothers to their chambers and Aemond simply left the room, seemingly not wanting to start a fight with his uncle.
You overheard your mother and Alicent talking about leaving King’s Landing again, before you decided to excuse yourself. As you walked away, Daemon gave you an empathetic smile.
As soon as you had left the room, you let out a deep sight, suddenly feeling very exhausted. But you couldn’t bear the thought of retreating to your chambers now and leaving the Red Keep without speaking to Aemond first.
You were convinced that he would not have gone to bed yet, so you wandered around the castle, hoping to find him when you heard the faint sound of metal clinking in the distance. The courtyard, you thought, and walked that direction.
And indeed, as you stepped out into the cold night, you saw him there, repeatedly hitting the wooden training figure used to practise sword fighting. His face was anything but emotionless, nothing but anger visible in the way he carried himself.
You watched him for a while, impressed with his skills but also feeling bad for him and the unresolved conflicts he kept carrying with him wherever he went. He noticed you as soon as you started walking towards him.
‘Don’t. Leave me’, he growled, not bothering to stop hitting the figure in front of him.
‘We’ll be leaving on the morrow’, you simply said, not being able to hide the sadness in your voice.
He sighed. Breathing heavily, he finally stopped moving, his sword still in his hand, hanging lazily by his side. His head fell forward and he looked utterly defeated. At that moment, you wanted nothing more than to wrap your arms around the man in front of you. But you still couldn’t believe the words he said to your brothers earlier in the evening. You couldn’t just pretend that nothing had happened.
When he didn’t say anything, you took another few steps towards him. This time, he didn’t tell you to stop. He didn’t even react to your presence.
‘Why did you say those things, Aemond?’, you asked him, feeling tired and upset by how the evening had gone.
Still, he didn’t react, leaving you to talk to yourself. As you took another few steps towards him, this time ending up just a few inches away from him, looking into his face that told a tale of anger, confusion and deep sadness. ‘He was wrong for laughing. He should not have made fun of you. And it pains me to see how much you're suffering. You were wronged that night my brother took your eye and I should have protected you more. But if not for the sake of our families, then for the safety of the realm, you have to let go. For if we are not united, we will push the kingdoms into war over the line of succession’, you urged him.
‘How am I to let go if everyone I know looks at me with nothing but fear, disgust and hatred?’, he hissed. You were suddenly very aware of the sword he was still holding. But you had to trust that Aemond would not harm you.
A weak laugh fell from your lips. ‘Aemond. My prince, I have never felt anything but love and kindness towards you’, you reached out, cupping his face with your hand, ‘if they won’t understand you, then I will. I can’t make the past right, but I am by your side now, free of any negative emotion.’
He slightly twitched beneath your warm palm, fighting the urge to pull back when your fingers touched his scar. You were gently stroking his cheek, as if to prove that you were not afraid of him, or the way he looked. He slowly melted into your touch, embracing the love you were showing him. You realised that this was probably the first time since he’d been a child that anyone cared for him in this way. His eye was focused on yours and you could tell he was fighting with his feelings. You could feel his jaw clench under your fingers and there was still some anger in his eyes, so you kept talking, trying to get him to finally react.
‘My mother had made a proposal to me earlier. Though, as we are leaving in the morning, I do not think it will be fruitful’, you dropped your hand from his face and bitterly laughed. Staring at the ground, a sudden wave of sadness washed over you.
You sighed and looked back at him, ‘she had suggested a marriage between our two families to unite the House of the Dragon once again.’ Your voice was barely noticeable but he heard you. Shock covered his eye and he opened his mouth as if to say something, before thinking about it again. So you both just stood there staring at each other in silence. So much left unsaid between you both. He was standing so close to you, but it felt so distant.
When you noticed that Aemond still refused to say anything, you faintly nodded, admitting defeat. As you turned around and started to walk away, you heard him sheath his sword and shortly after felt a hand wrapping itself around your wrist.
‘Wait. Please’, he muttered quietly.
You refused to turn around, ready to close this chapter and forget about any feelings you may harboured towards Aemond, as they didn’t seem strong enough to combat that deep anger that was living inside of him.
‘I do not wish for you to leave’, he admitted, not letting go of your wrist. A frustrated groan left his lips, ‘I admit, I could have handled this evening more dignified. But one day with your support does not make up almost a decade of fending for myself.’
You slowly turned to face him again, glad that he started opening up to you. Your heart broke at the words he chose, finally knowing that he had felt abandoned all those years.
‘I hope that one day, we will get the chance to make up for everything we’ve lost’, Aemond took a step forward, closing the gap between you both. You could feel his breath on your face and his eye desperately staring straight into your soul.
He lifted his hand up to your cheek and slowly drew his fingers across your skin, never taking your eyes off you. Once he reached your chin, he gently lifted it and bent down to you. His mouth hovering over yours, he briefly hesitated, waiting for you to pull away. But when you didn’t, he pressed a soft kiss on your lips. It was gentle, but full of emotion. You could feel his devastation and regret, his anger but his also undying affection for you all wrapped up in one innocent kiss.
And then, before you could even open your eyes, he abruptly pulled away and walked towards the castle, leaving you alone in the courtyard. The sudden cold had shivers running down your spine. You brought a hand to your lips, softly touching them, trying to verify that what had just happened was real. A small sob filled the air as you tried to keep your feelings inside, fully aware that you would not see Aemond again for the foreseeable future.

Can I request reader who breaks up with Blitzo, because they think Blitzo is cheating on them with Stolas. Reader starts dating/moves in with Verosika. Loona also comes with the reader because reader is like a mother figure to Loona and Loona prefers reader over Blitzo anyway.
Can you include Blitzo, Loona and Verosika's reactions.
😈 Blitzø x fem!Reader x Verosika Mayday headcanons Separation 💋
You and Blitzø have been dating for a long time. You took care of Loona together and you were both her foster parents. But when you found out that he cheated on you with Stolas, you were furious. You made a real scandal about it and left, taking your things. Intellectually, you understood that he did it for the sake of work and you would have tried to come to terms with it if he had honestly told you everything, but the fact that he hid it from you hurt your feelings a lot, which is why you decided to break off your relationship
You came to the only person who could understand your offense and who warned you for a long time that Blitzø would break your heart. Verosika. She was your best friend, even though she had romantic feelings for you. She has repeatedly suggested that you quit Blitzø and start dating her. When you came to her, your composure collapsed and you cried. Verosika has been soothing you for a long time. She hugged you and assured you that you did the right thing. She asked you to stay in her apartment. She understood that you shouldn't be alone with your thoughts. She surrounded you with care and love that she wanted to give you, but Blitzø always got in her way
Verosika became your ray of light after betrayal. She helped you forget about your feelings for Blitzø. Next to her, you were really happy. The only thing that bothered you was Loona. You often tried to offer her to move in with you and Verosika, but you weren't sure if she would agree. However, when Loona herself called you and asked if you could meet, you were happy. Your adopted daughter said that she doesn't want to stay with Blitzø anymore and that if there is such an opportunity, she would like to live with you. When you asked Verosika if she would mind it, she said that if it would make you happy, then she wouldn't mind. Loona was sincerely glad that you were together again. She was furious when she found out that you left Blitzø and blamed her adoptive father for it
Blitzø tried his best to bring back the family that was collapsing before his eyes. He lost you first. He knew it was his fault. He apologized to you, he tried to get you back, but you were not going to restore your relationship, the final point in the relationship was that you started dating Verosika. Before that, he still hoped that you would be able to reconcile. He finally realized that he had lost everything when Loona stopped spending the night at home. She continued to show up at work, but made it clear that she did not want to communicate with Blitzø anymore. Of the two of you, she chose you, whom she considered her mother and the realization of complete hopelessness covered Blitzø with his head
You started life with a clean slate. You had a beloved girlfriend and a daughter whom you cherished and cared about. You had a family that you loved and that loved you. Next to them, you really felt happy. Memories of past relationships have stopped tormenting you. You accepted them as a page of your life that was in the past. Maybe someday you'll be able to forgive Blitzø, maybe someday you'll be able to be friends, but for now you just wanted to be near Verosika and Loona

Tumblr media
“C’mon Wanda darling, just look at our children you can’t say no to those faces now can you?” You said as you crouched down besides young Billy and Tommy who had asked for your aid in persuading their mother, your wife, into allowing them to sneak an early taste of her cooking batter but your wife was being quite persistent in preventing you three from doing so. As though on cue from an unknown director the children brought out their puppy dog eyes up at Wanda who was trying her best not to break under the sweet domestic moment she was having with her beloved family by concealing it with a typical parental stare she’s trained her face to contort into whenever you or the children we’re up to no good; If Wanda initially thought Pietro was a bad influence she was obviously looking past the true negative influence her significant other. The love of her life.
Yet she couldn’t bring herself to get annoyed at you nor the kids. A family was something she’s always wanted, even as a little kid watching those old black and white low budget sitcoms with her family all those nights ago where she was once a naive child to the horrors that laid beyond the doorway that would put the monster in her closest to shame. Ever since she met you at the avengers compound where you became close after the events of the civil war that broke your team apart for some time. That dream only amplified when she saw how you acted towards children of the less fortunate by performing magic to ease their nerves and help them embrace their laughter instead, taking their minds off of the horrors that laid beyond; protecting them from the things Wanda wished she could protect her younger self from. She remembered the times where you’d visit her in her room during her worst days with her favourite sitcoms and food along with some plushie friends that she kept on your shared bed much to your chagrin. You meant so much to her that the mere thought of you being taken away from her was a furlong dream she never wished to experience as the pain would be enough to push her over the edge she was already teetering on with the loss of Vision. Wanda considered herself lucky enough to have you by her side during those dark times that sooner or later she realised that she was forming feeling for you and naturally she was scared; for being loved by her and loving her was a death sentence. Everyone who Wanda had ever loved or has ever loved her only ended up dead but when you showed persistence during your fights and stubbornness when she tried to push you away for your own safety the words you told her that day still rang true when she looked into your eyes.
“Wanda I love you, I love you in every possible reality imaginable because loving you is the most beautiful I could ever experience. I could care less if I died right here right now as it meant I lived a full life being loved by you and loving you to the fullest of my being. Your not getting rid of me that easily Wanda darling,” you brought your hands against hers as both of your (f/c) magic and her scarlet magic became acquainted with one another, “we’re meant to be, Wanda maximoff and Y/n Maximoff. Together forever.” Wanda only chuckled as you three stared at her impatiently. “Please mom we promise to be really, really good afterwards.” Tommy begged as he clung to your side. “Yeah, we’ll staring cleaning our room more and going to sleep on time.” Billy chimed in with a wide innocent smile as his brother only looked at him in betrayal, “you done ratting us out yet Billy?” Billy only looked to his brother with a apologetic smile, “sorry Tommy but you should know better then to make me keep secretes, I’m a terrible secrete keeper especially to our parents!” You and Wanda laughed as they squabbled their way into the living room as brothers do as you decided to hug her from behind as she continued to cook.
You head resting into the crook of her neck, lips barely brushing her skin making her insides practically burst into flames upon contact. “Now that trouble makers one and two are gone how about you let me get a taste of that sweetness.” You said cheekily as you wiggles your fingers, using your magic to pull the cooking batter out of her range and into your hands when Wanda swatted your hand away laughing at your silliness, moving in your arms to raise her own hand to flick your forehead lightly as punishment. “You should know better by now then to ask for things that aren’t yours to ask for.” Wanda teased as you rubbed your forehead before a smile creeped up on your lips as you brought your face close to hers as though your words were too sacred for your children to hear in on, “that wasn’t the sweetness I wasn’t asking a taste of my gorgeous wife.” With Wanda taken off guard it gave you the opportunity to give her a innocent kiss on the lips while your other hands did their literal magic and lifted the bowl containing the batter into the air and across the room to the living room where Tommy and Billy had settled their dispute in favour of watching cartoons and laid before them on the coffee table causing them to gasp; Billy, ever the mommy’s boy, noticed straight away that this was your doing and turned on the couch so he was facing you and Wanda, “Mommy, y/n used their magic!” while his brother delved fingers first into the sweet cooking batter with zero regard, looking at him with disappointment as he continued to smear more chocolate across his lips, muttering under his breath of how much his brother was a goody two shoes suck up.
Wanda, pulling away from your soft lips to look at you with a raised brow as you raised your hands, not realising that one of them was coated in (f/c) magic until it was too late. “What do you have to say for yourself?” Wanda asked as she crossed her arms as Billy waddled over to her side to copy her pose as he looked at you with an attempted scowl but his baby face made it look as though he was pouting for reading someone’s mind the sixth time that week. “Alright, alright I’m guilty of the most heinous of crimes, what is my punishment oh powerful and mighty Wanda,” Billy coughed into his hand, “oh and the amazing Billy Maximoff.” You added making him smile. Wanda’s heart warmed at the interaction before kneeling down to her son, “what should we do?” She asked as he made a questioning face before whispering sometime in her ear as she smiled back at him agreeably, bringing herself back up to her feet as she stared you down. “Your punishment, made by the ever so wise Billy, is death by cuddles.” Before you could utter a word in response, Wanda, Billy and Tommy all jumped at you at once as they squeezed you tightly in their arms as hard as they could as laughter filled the home. Laughters of love, laughter of fun and most of all the laughter of a beloved family.
Wanda awoke from her dream with a gasp, listing herself up from her bed as she instinctively looked over at the other side which would’ve belonged to you as though you were still alive and well as you were in her dreams. Her heart broke when it laid as vacant as the day you left on a suicide mission, never to return as a familiar bitterness filled her chest as she cradled the shirt that was placed over the pillow she rested her head upon that night; the shirt that once belonged to you but yet as like everything in life did, your scent began to fade away with time and soon enough your shirt would soon become another random shirt that will join your other belongs at the bottom of her wardrobe when finally looses your scent. Reminding her of the worst day of her life over and over and over again. Your laughter from her dreams haunt her as tears bite her eyes when she recollected the events leading up to her reclusion within her own magic to keep your memory alive as though she was scared that you’d one day be forgotten.
A fate of which Wanda refused to allow as loosing all memory of you would be like loosing all memory of what made you love her and what made her love you. Yes she wanted to marry you, yes she wanted to raise kids with you, adopted or not because either way they would be yours to protect and love until you couldn’t. Fate had taken you away from her and now she couldn’t help but be envious of every variant of herself that got to live a life where she kept you, Billy and Tommy; It wasn’t fair! It just wasn’t! How come they got to live the life that SHE wanted and not her! Her heart broke whenever you kissed her variants lips over and over and over again, wishing that it was her lips you were kissing. Her heart broke when she had to watch through her variants eyes as you played with your children in the backyard or taking them on their first day of school or when Billy, roughly age 18 in context of the dream, coming home from his first date with his boyfriend. Wanda wanted all that and more yet she drew the short straw and was doomed to watch others being happy and forcing herself to be happy for them when she wanted to be the one with the happy ending. She wanted you. She never got the chance to tell you that she loved you before you left and ever since she’s regretted it every day that she was allowed to live.
Now that her powers had awakened to their full potential she won’t stop until she had you, Billy and Tommy in her arms once more like she did in Westview, she didn’t care for the repercussions of her actions as they weren’t hers to deal with because she was justified in her anger, Stephen said it so, which is why the multiverse would pay for hanging you in front of her living a life with those who aren’t her yet share her likeness and name. After all you belong to her did you not?

Some Schneiders of Stars Hollow in the morning.
Ethan Maisel likes that his mother is semi-retired.
Honestly, she’s been busting her ass in show business since the sixties, and at almost seventy, she’s earned a break.
And sure, Stars Hollow is a weird place, filled with strange people and a festival a week, and…that Kirk guy, but Ethan thinks it’s nice that his mother and stepfather are so happy here.
And besides, the food at Luke’s Diner is pretty great, all things considered, and that’s coming from someone who grew up on traditional New York deli food.
He steps inside and sheds his coat, shaking some snow out of his hair and then nodding towards the owner behind the counter. “Hey, Luke.”
Luke gives him a friendly grin. “Ethan, hey. Meetin’ your mom?”
“Yeah, though she’s late, even though I made sure to be late, too,” Ethan chuckles.
“That’s Midge. Coffee?”
“God, yeah, thanks.”
He sits at one of the tables and glances through the menu, and, like a tornado, his mother rushes in from the cold.
“I know I’m late!” she cries as she slips out of her fashionable rose-colored coat. She’s still petite, still a very pretty woman, though these days she no longer tries to dye her hair, instead sporting her same-as-ever haircut, only mostly silver, and Ethan is grateful that she’s accepted aging as apart of life. He knows it’s not easy to be in show business as an older woman, but he’d hate for his talented mother to try and cling to fading youth when she’s always been more than a pretty face.
“Yes, you are,” Ethan chuckles as he gets up and allows himself to be kissed on the cheek and hugs her with one arm. “But that’s nothing new.”
“Yikes, already with the roasts, what did I do now?” Midge asks as she takes a seat.
Luke settles two coffees at their table with some cream and sugar, and Midge pats his arm.
“Thanks, Sweetie. You’re a lifesaver, it’s cold out there!”
“No problem. Any thoughts on food yet?” Luke asks, pulling out his order pad.
“Can you make that sandwich with all the veggies and Munster cheese and Russian dressing?” Midge requests. “It was so good last time when you toasted the bread just right.”
“You got it,” Luke nods. “Ethan?”
“Soups today?”
“Maryland Crab, Matzoh Ball, Chicken Noodle and Navy Bean.”
“Navy bean, and half a turkey sandwich with spicy mustard?” Ethan requests.
“Comin’ up!”
Midge smiles at Ethan brightly. “So? Coming all this way to have lunch when you’ve got such a busy schedule? What’s up?”
Ethan sighs softly. “Well…it’s Noah.”
Her smile falls. “What? What about Noah, what’s wrong with Noah?”
“Nothing’s really wrong, he’s just-“ Ethan pauses and sips his coffee. “He came home for winter break, and he announced that he…hates MIT.”
“He hates MIT?” Midge asks, confused. “MIT is all he’s talked about since he was six years old. He’s been dreaming of going there nearly his whole life, and now he hates it?”
“You know he doesn’t hate it,” Ethan tells her. “He hates that he’s so far away from all of us. He doesn’t get to come home for family dinners, and he misses birthdays and even some holidays.”
“But I thought he was doing well, making friends!”
“He was, but he’s not happy,” Ethan tells her. “So he’s looking at the other schools he got into.”
“That’s seven other schools,” Midge points out. “He’s considering the other seven schools that he considered his backups if MIT somehow lost their mind and didn’t want to admit one of the brightest young science majors in the world?”
“Ma…”
She takes a breath, composing herself. “Okay. So. What’s he thinking?”
“He’s considering Columbia, although he still remembers Gramma Rose telling him Columbia was cursed when he was little,” Ethan says.
“Mama certainly had a way with words, didn’t she?” Midge smiles sadly.
“She definitely did,” Ethan agrees, patting her hand gently. “He’s also heavily considering Yale.”
She blinks, tilting her head with interest. “Is he really?”
“Yes, he is. He’d be very close by.”
“Yes, he would.”
Ethan grins at his mother, amused, as he watches the wheels turn in her head. “Ma…”
“It’d be nice to have him so close!” she defends. “And Rory goes to Yale, and they’re the same age, and Ella pops by from time to time, but everyone else is always on the run, and I’m no good at running anymore.”
“If Noah chooses Yale, you have to be cool about it,” Ethan tells her.
“I can be cool! Look at the man I married; a picture of his face is next to the definition of ‘cool’ in the dictionary.”
“You can’t show up on campus without warning,” Ethan says. “And you can’t set him up on dates without telling him.”
“I was never the matchmaker in our family,” Midge reminds him.
“You know what I mean.”
She huffs out an exasperated breath. “Okay, okay, I get it, no meddling.”
Ethan chuckles and leans over, kissing her cheek. “Thanks, Ma.”
“So where is wonder boy now?” Midge asks.
“He and Julia are touring Princeton today,” Ethan says.
“Feh. Princeton.”
“What’s wrong with Princeton?”
“It’s in New Jersey! I don’t want my grandson to come home smelling like New Jersey.”
Ethan laughs. “Ma.”
She crosses her arms.
“It’s just a tour. They’re doing the Yale tour tomorrow.”
“And then you’re coming here for dinner,” Midge tells him.
“Yes,” Ethan agrees. “We will come back to Stars Hollow for dinner, and you can try to talk my son into doing what you want.”
“Thank you.”

Former Judo champion and model (he still gets modeling offers, but he’s enjoying his retirement)
Ultimate golden retriever with a side of dramatic flare
Passionate lover and friend. Adventures are always calling his name~
But, a quick rewind into his past!
He met Madara in middle school and the two quickly became inseparable
He was much more peaceful than Madara and often deescalated confrontations when others would try to press for a fight
The two would often pull pranks, steal Tajima’s car for joy rides, and go to the lake to hang out and talk about their lives
He helped his little brothers any way he could in school and getting out of trouble with their father, who was more of a commander than a dad
But none of that matter. in the school and his father’s eyes, he was a delinquent who had luck on his side because of his associations and slacker behavior
Something Madara laughed at, because Hashirama was too soft for his own good considering he was already 8 years deep in his Judo training
By the time he was in highschool, he was acing test, breaking dress code, and skipping classes to hang out with his friends
That’s how he met a friend of a friend that turned his life upside down. She was blonde, gorgeous, and made him feel special. Which of course made him skip even more classes
It got to the point that the class president, Mito, ended up scolding him about his behavior even more than she did Madara
Side note: he absolutely had a crush on Mito since starting highschool, but they always seemed to be more enemies than even friends
Madara was nice enough to get her to take a picture with him for Hashirama. And Hashirama cherishes it
reality didn’t hit him until his gf came to his house and told him she was pregnant. They both got yelled at by his father, but Hashirama was sure he could find a job and make things work
And he did find a job and started saving what he could
Everything seemed fine. She withdrew from a school to homeschool and also work a bit. Hashirama made sure to visit her everyday too
Keeping his worry to himself, he just reassured her that they’ll be okay if they just try
He was heartbroken when she called things off and even more devastated when she refused to see him when he came by
And completely crushed when he answered the door to find his child and a note stating she was leaving Tsunade where she belongs and will not be back.
Her family completely skipped town and no one knew where they went
His parents were livid, with his father wanting to throw him out, but his mother and brothers took to their new addition quickly and voted for Hashirama and Tsunade to stay
Even tobirama would smile about her little coos
Madara bought her a crib, diapers, and some formula. He even offered him a spot amongst the Uchiha as a way of getting his own money.
He loved his daughter and wanted to be a good father to her and if that meant he had to drop out and work for Tajima, he would.
He was shocked when Mito came to his house to visit, then he remembered she was the class president and he’d been skipping school for awhile now.
He was ready for one of her lectures, but she simply asked if he needed help. She heard a rumor Madara was offering him a “deal”, but.. he had real promise and he shouldn’t throw that away when Tsunade was counting on him.
So get his ass back in school and keep training. It’s a little boring not having her rival to beat in scores.
She even offered to watch Tsunade on her days off. Turns out she lived alone and didn’t do much outside of work, crochet, and study herself.
Its thanks to her that he ended up getting a better part time job at the same store as her to help provide for his daughter without the risk of jail time
Mito’s cramped little studio apartment became Hashirama (and Madara’s) new hangout spot as the three grew closer
Seeing them bond with Tsunade was so special to him and sometimes funny. Especially when they’d argue about who was Tsunade’s favorite
They also got the good girl to let her hair down a little and all made out for a bit before she kicked them out for talking dirty to her
It was Madara but Hashirama was guilty by association, so he had to go to that day. They apologized and things went back to normal
It’s thanks to them both that he graduated
Started doing some lucrative modeling after he was scouted
Became a Judo champ
Got him and Tsunade their own little place
And finally asked Mito out over ice cream she said yes. He then tried to ask her to marry him and was told they need to take it one step at a time 💀
As a dad, he spoiled Tsunade since she was born and encouraged her to stick up for herself but if she couldn’t, she can always tell him, Madara, or Mito and they’ll handle it for her
He was also very excited when they were expecting and got Tsunade super excited too
He was devastated when he realized Tsunade had a first crush and even worse when Nawaki was caught kissing some other kid at school. Do they not know what he went through? He just wanted them to stay innocent forever. Why are these kids so fast 🥲
Tsunade was so independent and bold. He made a lot of mistakes when he was first starting out as a dad, but he made up for that with affection, quality time, and shopping sprees.
He encouraged Nawaki’s kindness and bravery. If Nawaki had a game, he was there. If he had a debate, he was there. He never missed a chance to root for his little guy
He’d always wanted to travel a bit and Mito gave him the go ahead to do so. The kids were older and she was working on her next novel. If she needed help, she’d just call Madara like always. No problem.
He was happy when Mito said she was expecting and it was Madara’s. The three of them had been a thing for a long time now and he did encourage them to have phone sex with him quite a few nights while he was out of the country.
He also knows Madara feels a bit jealous and can feel like he’s far from their thoughts /life at times, so he was sure it would make him really happy too.
Welcoming Michi was a new experience for Hashirama. She was his daughter, but also Madara’s flesh and blood. She was the first kid he had that Tobirama didn’t take to immediately and Madara made sure their home had everything and more a princess could need
They even got a new and bigger house with a live bodyguard Hashirama and Mito didn’t think it was necessary, but Madara insisted
He treats Michi just like his other kids and made sure to be present for all her big moments too
Made Tsunade take hundreds of pictures when she graduated with her medical degree holding back tears
Cheered a little too loud if you ask Madara for Nawaki graduating the police academy
Cried at Michi’s wedding because she was just “a baby” and he doesn’t know Neji well enough to fully trust him with his baby girl
In his older years, he prefers relaxing in the same room as Mito (and Madara) while she types
Trying new recipes he finds on the internet with Kawarama and Itama they force Tobirama to FaceTime and try the recipes with them.
Doing barbecues once a month with the “kids”
Dancing with Mito to some of their favorite songs with some good wine
Also he can smack her butt freely because they’re empty nesters
Getting spoiled at Madara’s no because madara has everything at his house. EVERYTHING. It’s basically a local vacation for them.
Sleeping in because he knows he can now
And reminiscing about all the fun and mishaps he’s had in life with his friends and family

You know, there are at least one thousand things about the season finale of TOH that I can pick apart and analyze. But no, I just want to talk about the ending.
Tumblr media
Those stances. The way our gang were standing… I mean whoever animated that shot alone deserves a raise. Those stances scream everything. You guys know I'm a sucker for analyzing body language, so let's dive in:
Willow: Her just standing there with a hand on her arm, while her expression has a hint of sadness/shock. Given everything that she and her friends have just gone through, it's understandable. From the framing, it looks like she's standing behind Amity, almost as if she's afraid of what's behind that door. I think she might not trust who's behind that door, as this is her first time venturing into a realm that's normal. I feel like she's in shock, because immediately going from a place where she's fighting for her life, to being invited into a safe place to rest/gather herself is a complete 180⁰. I also see total physical and emotional exhaustion. I mean, this girl just exerted all her strength into fighting.
Amity: Shocked, but composed and postured. She doesn't really know what to feel or expect. She knows this is the first time meeting her girlfriend's mother, and despite being battered and bruised, she needs to make a good first impression. Though, despite all this, her expression is blank. She left behind not only her home, but siblings and father, while not knowing if they survived the Draining Spell or not. Heavy burden to carry, but she knows she's in a position where she can't do much. She can't go back nor can she contact them. So for now, making a good impression on Luz's mother would be sufficient enough.
Luz: Dejected. Defeated. Almost empty inside. She, firsthand, just witnessed King sacrifice himself to save them, all with the full intention of sacrificing herself too. She doesn't know if Eda, Hooty, Lilith or anyone is okay, and now she left what is essentially her little brother in the hands of The Collector. And looking back on Luz's expressions while being in the presence of The Collector, we know that he absolutely terrifies her. And Luz has had her fair share of scary situations.
When her mother first opens the door, it takes her a while to register that her mother is standing in front of her. We all know Luz is a sucker for hiding her emotions under fake smiles, and that's exactly what she does. When she looks up to see her mother for the first time in months, she tries putting on a brave face. She dons a weak smile, because she owes it to her. Camilla doesn't know what's been going on, and Luz knows she needs to convince her mother that despite these bruises and injuries… she's home.
Gus: This one absolutely broke me. The way he's shivering, looking small and innocent. The way he looks at Camila for any hope or answers. It's just very eye opening considering his role in the episode—the entire episode, Gus was acting as a sort of big brother/protector for King. Asking King if he was okay, calling him buddy, and reassuring him that everything was okay when they weren't. Just the little things. Gus had to be strong for King's sake.
So, to see the literal support system of this episode break down into tears is stunning. We've all been assuming Gus was the strong one, but when he realizes what just happened—the fact that his friends, family, are at home left behind to endure an impossible to predict future—it hits him hard. He does what anyone would do, and cries. Gus was the first one to break down, collapsing onto his knees in anguish. He's the first to begin crying, and letting loose everything pent up inside.
Hunter: I loved his expression. The way he was trying to be strong for Gus' sake, with his arm wrapped around his shoulder, comforting him? It's almost hard to remember all the shit he's just gone through: he just witnessed his "uncle" (yes, he's a dick, but there's definitely still some feelings there) Belos being annihilated by this assumed child with godlike powers, had to walk in his remains to get to safety, and this isn't even taking into consideration Hunter's general trauma.
So, it's safe to say season 2 ended off with a literal bang. I love the subtle details. Everything about this episode was *chefs kiss*.

It’s BaileyRhapsody and I got a scenario for you:
Christina reads about Sam stabbing Bailey 35 times and in the head through the eye. She considered the first time with Richie to be a fluke but this? The passion and delight one would have to take to do such a thing? Using your version of Christina, the joy and interest that she would reignite when she realizes that her baby, her precious darling girl is just like her father.
Christina reaching out to Sam and only Sam, her intentions and the motherly “I want to be a part of your life” masking her more insidious nature. Sam’s confusion but lowkey happiness that her mother doesnt hate her. An uneasiness rising in her at Christina’s saccharine tone and complete lack of interest in Tara despite things seeming the opposite for so long. Tara starting off hurt but then slowly growing suspicious as she watches Christina start to insert herself in every aspect of Sam’s life.
All culminating to Ghostface!Christina reveal with Christina holding Tara at knifepoint and telling Sam “everything started to fall apart when *she* was born. I know you’ll never love me if *she’s* still here. Let me get rid of her and we can be a proper family again. Me, you and Billy. I know you have his darkness inside of you. I wouldn’t stop it. I would let it flourish. It’s so beautiful. Tara doesn’t understand. She will never understand you like I do. She’ll leave once you sees you for what you are but I wouldn’t, Samantha.”
Sam freaking out, holding a gun to her mother as she tries to keep her from killing her babysister, tries to talk her down. Tries to understand what is happening and why Christina is doing this. She doesn’t want to have to kill her own mother but she can’t let Christina hurt Tara, she can’t. She can’t. She won’t.
Tara starts off crying in Christina’s arms, trying to break away but also devastated by the fact that her mother is trying to kill her. That confirmation that those underlining feelings of uneasiness and apathy she could feel from Christina growing up and especially when Sam left were valid. And then her anger growing as Christina talks and feeling more incensed as Christina tries to claim that Tara doesn’t understand Sam or would ever stop loving her.
Sam saying something that throws Christina off long enough for Tara to bite Christina and then knock her back. Sam shooting Christina in the shoulder when she goes to stab Tara and Christina falling on the ground. Tara picking up the knife and climbing on top of Christina and stabbing her over and over again, screaming and sobbing each time the knife goes in as she lets out all the pain and frustration of childhood. “You hated me for being weak. I’m not weak! You’re the weak one for making your love for us conditional.”
Sam rushing behind Tara and holding her and trying to get her to stop because she doesn’t want Tara to experience the guilt of murdering her own mother
“Shh shh babygirl it’s okay. It’s okay. I know, I know. I love you, you can stop now. You can stop. I’m here. I won’t leave you. I’ll never leave you. Just stop, Tara. You can give me the knife, it’s okay. She can’t hurt us anymore.”
Christina ultimately surviving with her dozen or so stab wounds but Tara and Sam are messed UP from this entire experience.
Hey maybe in a screwed up way, Tara stabbing Christina makes Christina actually interested in her.
I honestly don't know what I could possibly add to that, you've nailed it baby.
In this context, her initial rejection of Sam after revealing her father is Billy to Tara would be based entirely on trying to keep it a secret. She's worried about the consequences, about what the world will do or say to her if it's revealed. And then Gale writes that book and it all comes out anyway. Maybe Sam blocked her in frustration after her initial rejection, Christina's attempts to reach out afterwards for nought. She doesn't unblock her until after 6 has happened, Sam having some silly little hope that maybe her mother will try to reach out: and then she does.
Tara being hurt that Christina only wants Sam, but stepping back and hiding it because she loves her sister and wants her to be happy and she wants her to have her family. Sam always seems to perk up when Christina contacts her or comes around, and Tara won't ruin that for her.
Tara just breaking down as her own mother holds a knife to her throat, ready to kill her. Realising that she really was never wanted. Her sadness for herself turning to rage because how dare she. This woman is just another person who wants something from Sam, who wants to make her into what they want. Nobody ever wants Sam to just be herself, not like Tara.
Sam trying to convince their mother to let Tara go, Sam has to be the one to do it then right? "If we're going to be a family again, then I need to be the one to get rid of her." Speaking to her mother, speaking to her sister.
Afterwards, the experience leaves a crack in their relationship: Tara convinces herself that Sam stopped her from killing Christina because some part of her believes she's right, that she wanted her alive so she could go back to her, to leave Tara. She never left the others alive, it has to mean something. Sam, desperately guilty, becoming worse than before. Always there, always hovering, always watching. Tara wonders what she's thinking, is she thinking of regret? Is she wondering why she's here? Is she thinking of ways to punish her, hurt her, kill her. Tara hurt Sam's mother after all, why wouldn't she hate her for that.
Sam forcing them to move, to change their numbers, once the letters start coming in, the calls, the visitation requests. Their mother wants them, both of them.

Thoughts on Chapter 125
I swear these chapters will be the end of me-
Before I forget, Jeje’s face! After so long, we finally get to see it aaaaa :D
From the start, that played out a lot differently than what was expected. So Jeje was the one who killed Kiriko, to stop her from killing herself and so she could ascend to heaven.
I do find it interesting how Mikuni didn’t really react much despite literally watching his mother get killed, and that his first suggestion was to use Jeje’s power to convince Misono that he was the one who did it. Honestly, there could have been another excuse he could come up with and I don’t really see how that was better than telling Misono the truth as both were kinda hard to hear. Perhaps Mikuni’s always been more unhinged than we thought.
Ooh so the spring/key is their contract item. In some sense, the fact it was from a music box is really fitting for them, considering how they have a theme of puppets, dolls and in a way, clockwork. I guess that since Jeje saw Kiriko pick the box, it’s still a little reminiscent of her as well.
All three of them were in the Alicein’s basement the whole time?? Jeje we knew about, albeit differently, but Kuro and Tsubaki too? Finding out that Jeje was voluntarily sealed was interesting too, unless that fits into his desire to die as stated before due to everything that happened with his previous Eves and it was the closest to what he wanted.
Personally, I don’t know how to feel about the double barrier thing. On one hand, having that with both the Alicein and Tsukimitsu families makes sense as it’s extra security and when the heads of the families change, the barrier is broken down and reconstructed so it prevents the whole thing breaking apart if something happens to one of them. On the other hand, the changing barriers thing just doesn’t feel like a good idea to me. Then we found out Kiriko broke the barrier when the Tsukimitsu’s side was down, and accidentally freed Tsubaki when she let Jeje out.
Linked with the previous point, I’m now thinking that it probably really was Lily that put Kuro in Mahiru’s path.
To be fair, you can kinda feel sorry for Kiriko and understand her actions. Her husband cheated on her, and in wanting to make a contract with Envy, she unintentionally let Tsubaki out and then since she killed Misono’s mother, she was trying to atone but is still hearing about the things Tsubaki did. As this was only possible because of her, it really weighed heavily on her. At first, I questioned Jeje’s choice to kill Kiriko as if he really wanted to prevent it, there was other methods but then again, it could also be that it was his way of showing her mercy, knowing that she was going through that.
Jeje in a jar asdfghjkdjs-
I’m sorry, but there’s something weirdly ironic about Shirayuki giving Iori the role of head of family when he was eighteen to prevent him from doing something reckless, and then we know he’s gone and done something reckless anyway.
Mikuni having done his own research was something I had always expected from him. What I didn’t expect was him going to a fast food restaurant so soon after but him not liking it was predictable.
Jeje taking the bag, plopping it over his head and Mikuni’s reaction 😂 Mikuni laughing was cute, I think that’s the first time we’ve seen him genuinely smiling like that? It was adorable how Jeje stacked more bags on to make him laugh more too. And thus, the origins of the paper bags xD
Tsurugi and Touma! :D So this is when Touma took Mikuni into C3 :o I genuinely thought that he would be a bit more wary as seen in Touma’s subconscious before, but Mikuni agreed quite quickly, supposedly because it might have been in his best interest.
I guess everything further established that Jeje still binds himself to Kiriko by choice, through both her son and the music box key.
I do hope that we can see what happens next and that Misono manages to interact with Mikuni since he now knows most of the truth. As always, looking forward to the next chapters :)

What if Alice's family had taken revenge on Ian for his infidelity by publishing all the evidence of his infidelity and ruining his career?
I just want to see Ian suffer, SUFFER IAN!!! 😡😡😡
Tumblr media
This ask is so funny to me you don't even know.
Fun fact: Alice's family did want to pay Ian back for cheating on her in some form or another. She herself asked them not to. She sincerely hates the idea of Ian suffering, which is why she has such a hard time just blocking him already. It was also a big part of why she tried so darn hard to forgive him and make it work before finally ending it.
While I don't have all the King family fleshed out completely, why don't I take this opportunity to go into a few of their reactions to the news that Ian cheated, shall we?
First up is the matriarch mama bear of the family. (I'm still trying to decide on her name for sure. I have it down to 2 I'm split on.) She watched Ian grow up alongside Alice. They were childhood sweethearts and Ian was like a son to her. Their romance was so much like her and her husband's...
Then in the middle of the night she gets a call from one of her daughter's friends that Alice is in the hospital in critical condition. She broke several speed limits getting there ASAP.
Now... Mama King was relentless wanting to know what happened. When Alice wasn't in a state to answer, she grilled Shaun, then she called Ian.
Needless to say... Ian confessed what he had done and gave tearful apologies to her as well.
It's such a painful betrayal to hear that someone who you feel is practically your son, who you believed brought your child more joy than anyone in the world, could do something so awful to them. Mama King did love Ian like her child.
But Mama King will always put her own children first, and the pain Ian put her baby through is unforgivable.
Alice wanted to forgive Ian, which was a bitter pill for Mama King to swallow. She still loved him. She absolutely believed it was a mistake. He didn't mean to hurt her. They could get through this.
So Alice asked her mother not to do anything to Ian. Ian already suffers enough from being yelled at by a mom. He would be crushed if her mom tore him apart too.
Mama King understands what it's like to be so deeply in love. She knows very well how powerful it is, what lengths it pushes you to. She could reluctantly accept to not do anything that would hurt Ian directly for the sake of her daughter, who she would do anything for... but the love she had for Ian was dead. From then on, her goal is to make sure that her daughter isn't hurt again, which means either making sure Ian never strays again, or getting Alice out of the relationship.
There were talks between Mama King and Ian after that incident. Stern warnings, subtle threats you could say, that he has been given a chance to make amends for what he did only because Alice loves him so much and she always felt he was a son to her.
Alice still loves him and wants to make it work... but he is no longer a son to Mama King. That relationship died the moment he broke her daughter's heart.
It was a painful blow to Ian. Mama King was the mother he always wished he had, so kind and loving... everything his mother wasn't. It gutted him. He apologized to her so many times, promising never to do it again... and Mama King said no, he won't, because there won't be a third chance.
Their relationship has been cold ever since. Mama King is brisk if Ian ever contacts the King household, especially now that Alice chose to break up with him. She won't help them get back together and whenever he tries to steer the conversation in that direction to plead for her help, that's when he gets a dial tone in return.
It's the kindest thing Mama King can do when it comes to Ian considering how furious she is at him for what he did to Alice and how her hands are tied because of the wishes of her daughter.
Papa King's reaction was shock and disbelief that Ian would ever do something like this. Not sweet crybaby Ian. How could he? His first focus was on comforting Alice. He supported her in whatever she decided, even if he was worried that getting back together with a cheater would only lead to further heartache. He was quietly relieved when she broke it off for good, but didn't actively push her to do it, just wanting what's best for her.
Talking with Ian is super awkward now. Papa King doesn't hate Ian. He's too much of a teddy bear to hold a grudge against anyone. There's too many years of Ian practically growing up at their house, being almost a son to him. He's polite and sympathetic to Ian, but tries to keep at arm's length. It's not good for Alice to be reminded of Ian, and he'll always support his children first.
Quietly, Papa King is hoping that someday things can at least be less painful. Maybe someday Alice and Ian will heal enough that they can be... well, maybe friends is too optimistic, but at least that this incident will no longer cause so much pain. If he's the one who answers the phone and Ian is calling, he has the hardest time dealing with Ian's crying and apologies. Fortunately, there are plenty of others in the house to notice his discomfort and snatch up the phone to take care of the call for him.
The second oldest child is Barbie. She has no qualms with telling Ian to fuck off. She is a misanthrope who is very bitter towards people in general, only really trusting her family, who she is viciously protective over. Ian was one of the few people outside the family that she let in past her walls and saw like a big brother... a big crybaby spineless jellyfish who couldn't take any of her teasing. He was fun to poke at, but in the end she liked the idea that someday he would be her brother for real when he and Alice got married.
The cheating was like a slap to the face. Barbie called up Ian right after finding out and cursed him a blue streak. She didn't care that Alice wanted to reconcile. Cheaters don't deserve to be forgiven, in Barbie's eyes, and she was going to do whatever it took to convince her big sis to dump his cheating ass. She also told him off for crying apologies over the phone, telling him that the only reason why she's not hacking into his computer to nuke it with every virus on the internet is because Alice would be hurt by any retaliation, not because of him.
Barbie absolutely would have done an online smear campaign if not for Alice. Doing it would certainly hurt Ian, but Alice would get hurt in the crossfire as well, and Barbie didn't want to hurt her sister further.
So Barbie blocked Ian on her phone and all social media. If he calls the King house when she's visiting, she coldly tells him "Alice isn't home." knowing that Alice hasn't lived there for a while, and hangs up immediately.
Third oldest is Coraline. It was a shock to hear to hear that Ian cheated on Alice. She wondered though if the other woman was to blame rather than Ian. Wouldn't it fix things if they make sure this can't happen again? Maybe track his phone, have access to all his social medias, be able to see his phone/chat history at any time, etc. She tried to help Alice make it work so that Ian wouldn't stray again.
Coraline liked Ian like a big brother, so it was pretty sad when Alice ended things for good. It didn't sit right with her that this wasn't something that could be fixed. She knew just how much Alice and Ian loved each other, how much they went through... It felt unfair that strong of a love could be so easily broken.
Coraline is pretty naïve and hasn't had too much social interaction outside of the family due to her poor health. She gets a lot of her information about how romance works from books/anime/movies and seeing her parents and the romance of Alice and Ian. Similar to Ian learning some unfortunate lessons from ecchi, Coraline has learned some unfortunate lessons from bad romance tropes.
Still, ultimately Coraline will always side with her big sister first. She might not like that Alice and Ian's relationship can't be fixed, but she's supportive of Alice. Still, a part of her hopes that maybe someday they can fix things. Ian does seem very sincerely sorry after all...
The younger siblings aren't as defined, but there's at least 4 more of them. In general their opinions would be negative when it comes to Ian what he did, though some might be too young to know he cheated depending on their ages. I still need to decide that. Some might be more forgiving of Ian like Coraline, while some might be more unforgiving like Barbie. In the end, this family is a close knit and loving one and will support Alice first.
Now... if Alice didn't want Ian to be spared their wrath and wanted him to hurt for what he did to her...? Well... that would be a completely different horror story...

What if the volturi and the cullens randomly swapped gifts with each other (so like cullens randomly get volturi gifts, and vice versa)?
Alright, looks like we get to bring out python's random number generator again. For the sake of the ask we're including the following (confirmed canon gifts and none of my @therealvinelle's conspiracy theory gifts):
Volturi
Aro
Marcus
Jane
Alec
Renata
Chelsea
Heidi
Afton
Felix
Corin
Demetri
Cullens
Edward
Jasper
Alice
Bella
Renesmee
We're also doing only one swap which means we run this until the Cullens all get their new gifts since there's less of them. Some of the Volturi are going to get lucky (or not if they're Afton, we'll see).
And we roll the dice...
Aro and Renesmee Swap Gifts
Well, this is just terrible for all involved.
Renesmee gets to experience @therealvinelle's Bleach on the Brain in steroids as she now gets to experience her family's entire history through the touch of a hand. Congratulations, Renesmee, you have now realized that you are a war bride that your mother and father married off to Jacob, that Jacob once loathed your existence and tried to murder you after you had just been born, that your father also tried to murder you and is a terrifying creature, that your grandfather's clueless, and well everything else.
And her family now knows that she knows everything (as her father certainly knows) and Renesmee gets to watch the family fall to pieces and Edward probably proposes taking out Volterra while it appears that Renesmee has stolen his gift.
Renesmee probably has to make a break for it.
Aro, in Volterra, is also panicking as his gift is gone and he has no idea how to talk to people anymore and someone out there (probably little Renesmee) now has his own very potent ability. He'd like that back now and he doesn't want the hybrid to have it.
But he doesn't know that Renesmee has run away. Yet.
Renata and Alice Swap Gifts
Good news for Renesmee's flight into the night: Alice has lost her gift. Alice finds herself, instead, with what she considers to be an entirely useless ability of making people stay away from her. This is especially bad as Alice has never known life without that gift and never made a decision without it.
She finds herself paralyzed, an utter mess, doubly so as everyone's asking her to try to look into the future AND SHE CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE.
In Volterra, Renata finds herself with the sudden ability to see the future whenever anyone close to her contemplates a decision. It gives her many headaches but Aro, who always kind of wanted Alice around, puts it to the best use he can while also doing his best to avoid news of Renata being out of commission from getting out.
Corin and Jasper Swap Gifts
Jasper finds himself in an odd state of relief and disbelief. The overwhelming anxiety, terror, and distress of the family is gone. Renesmee is missing, his wife is falling apart, but he feels great. He feels, in fact, nothing.
Except whenever anyone gets too close to him and he's feeling too much then they end up acting very very strange. So, maybe it's still his gift, but just on steroids and only on 'serene' mode.
Jasper unwittingly finds himself supplying the family vampire drugs as Alice uses his new drug gift as an emotional support crutch in her time of distress. Bella even turns off her own gift (if she still has it, we'll find out below) to take advantage of that sweet sweet Jasper aura of calm.
Meanwhile, the tower is very upset as Corin seems to have lost most of her potency and can only now make them feel vaguely relaxed instead of incredibly stoned. Corin also finds herself getting feedback which has never happened before.
Aro, however, is much too distracted to pay this as much mind as he should.
Felix and Bella Swap Gifts
Nevermind, apparently Bella's getting high on her own.
Bella at first thinks this is great (aside of course from Renesmee having run away without Alice able to find her). She never liked her gift much anyway and now Edward can hear her every thought.
Except now Edward can hear her every thought.
Edward, already distressed because of Renesmee and Alice, starts snapping at her that her thoughts are annoying or unfitting of the situation. Bella's not acting like the kind and generous woman that he married and her distress is not helping him.
Bella finds her marriage falling apart and runs to Jasper, sweet sweet Jasper, for solace. Which, of course, makes Edward even angrier.
Bella never realizes that she is now swol.
Felix on the other hand, has suddenly become everything Aro wanted. Aro still would like his gift back, but holy shit, he just got Bella. He just got the gift that could stop the Volturi in their tracks. Now, so long as he can check that Bella doesn't have her gift anymore (and he's fairly certain of that), then they needn't worry about insurrection from the Cullens.
Through some ridiculous miracle or gift swapping vampire that Aro must track down yesterday, Aro has won the wore without a single casualty.
(Edward does not realize that, by Bella's gift disappearing, he has now lost the war even if Renesmee, when she was home, has Aro's gift which still isn't as cool as his own.)
Heidi and Edward Swap Gifts
Bless you, python, bless you.
Alright, remember Edward being distressed before and taking it out on Bella. That, tenfold. Edward's gift is gone. THE VOLTURI MUST HAVE STOLEN IT! He doesn't realize he's much more alluring than usual because he's so upset over not having his gift anymore. He's twelve times less of a man than he was but has to pretend this is great. HE HATED INTRUDING ON HIS FAMILY'S PRIVACY ANYWAY!
Heidi, meanwhile, finds herself becoming temporary Aro as she at least can read some thoughts. But she has a miserable time of it.

Dolores “Loli” Núñez || 27 || #506 || Zión Moreno || Closed
Personality:
At first glance Dolores is sociable and pleasant but it’s only to serve a purpose. Before the outbreak it was to further their following, but now it’s to further their safety. Putting up a front and using people to benefit them hasn’t changed. Everything she does and how she looks is premeditated and perfectly manicured — somehow confidence still radiates off her. Maybe it’s the way she thinks she has everybody figured out. Maybe it’s because she knows they wouldn’t let her, the newly famed Loli Núñez, rot in an apartment building. Or just maybe it’s the only way she knows how to cope, realizing how her prized Hermès Birkin bag now means nothing.
Biography:
The youngest of four siblings, Dolores always dreamed of making it big. It’s shown in the dusty tape cassettes stacked in her family home, the grainy footage showing a small child singing into a microphone or dramatically reciting a scene from a Disney movie. As high school hit she yearned to be in the popular girl clique that never allowed her, to be like the main girl in the newest teen drama, and to be able to emulate the newest fashion trends. She yearned.
But it was all just a pipedream for somebody whose family sometimes didn’t have food in the fridge. She watched as her stepdad worked his fingers to the bone, juggling two jobs while simultaneously making sure homelife ran as smoothly as possible.
It wasn’t out of the blue when Dolores decided to transition in her late teens, but it went smoother than she expected. There were a few hiccups at the start, but her mother, always her biggest supporter, joked that it was nice to have a girl in the Núñez family — considering her older siblings were brothers. School was another subject entirely; it’s why she didn’t graduate. But nobody has to know that. That’s not very IT girl of her, is it?
Being a barista wasn’t where she imagined herself in her mid twenties. She had been struggling to make a name for herself on social media for years by posting her own makeup hacks and dupes. While Dolores had gathered herself a small community it was nowhere near enough to quit her job. Another pipe dream, huh? That was until one day she checked her phone after a shift and found her screen flooded with notifications; an influencer had reacted to one of her videos, which was now circulating the beauty community. It was finally the break she had been working hard for.
Before the outbreak, she was one of the best at what she did, while also known as lying to sell sponsored products and making her “life” seem as flawless and perfect as possible. From London to Japan, from Germany to Italy, she had money to do things she wasn’t able to do growing up — including making sure that her family would no longer struggle financially. Not many people pin her as a family woman, but not many people pin her as anything other than how she wants to be perceived.
Pre Outbreak Occupation: Influencer Previous Zombie Experience: N/A Martial Status: Single Children: N/A Residence:  Studio 506 Years residing at The Wexley: 2 Months Connections: N/A

Some Morag headcanons!
As I've been playing BG3 I've been coming up with more Morag headcanons to inform his character!
Tumblr media
-Before the events of Baldur's Gate 3, Morag was a part of the Mason's Guild in the city, hence why he has the Guild Artisan background despite being a Barbarian. The guild often did work repairing temples around Baldur's Gate, and as such Morag picked up tidbits and facts about gods he didn't personally worship (most of Clan Arden worships Torm, such as Balvarax and his father Oras, while a small sliver like the Neverwinter Ardens primarily worship Bahamut).
-Morag has seven siblings, of which he is the fourth child. He has four sisters and three brothers. Morag's oldest sister works with their father, while Morag's oldest brother helped him get the job with the Mason's Guild due to being a part of it too. Most of the family still lives under one roof, but Morag chose a shitty apartment rather than living with their judgment.
Tumblr media
-Morag is widely considered the black sheep of the family, somewhat considered lazy with his head in the clouds, tending more to his fantasies of adventure rather than his work. Only his mother really encouraged these dreams, albeit tepidly.
-Morag's father is a cobbler who makes shoes in the lower city. Morag's mother is a shipwright and spends most of her days on the docks. Unbeknownst to everyone in the family besides Morag's father, Morag's mother works closely with the Harpers despite not being one herself.
Tumblr media
-Morag spent a lot of his free time in bars around Baldur's Gate, half hoping that he'd be able to step in to either break up or take part in a fight. He once encountered my Candlekeep Mysteries tiefling - Temperance - and beat him in a brawl. Morag has no recollection of this, but Temperance has since held a grudge. Temperance is also a moron of similar caliber to Jason from The Good Place, so there's not much of a threat there.
-While not being a formally trained fighter, Morag picked up his skills with a maul due to working enough construction shifts. He's also found that he can ignore more pain during a fight if he gets pissed off enough, which seems to have served him well so far.
Tumblr media
-Morag has had a couple relationships in the past, but none that were of particular note, as well as a one night stand here and there. On rare occasion he's patronized Sharess' Caress, but, again, rarely. One ex was an elf, and his Guardian vaguely resembles her. Karlach is Morag's first serious romance where he'd describe himself as being in love.
-When he was younger Morag wanted to be like his relative Arden Oras, The Hero of Waterdeep (and Balvarax's father) who slew the evil wizard Manshoon. He asked his parents to pay for sword lessons, but they declined. Even now as an adventurer Morag tries to emulate Oras (or at least how he imagines The Hero of Waterdeep acts).
