Are Sirius and Benjy interested in marriage, or are they "we don't need a piece of paper to know how we feel about each other" kinds of people?

Benjy is 100% on board for marriage. He wants that piece of paper, in whatever form it may come. He wants to frame it and hang it on their wall and surround it by pictures of themselves and their life that spreads out and covers all four walls of one room and trails down the hallway and into the kitchen as they age.

Sirius is very much on the other side of that fence. It is only a piece of paper. It doesn't really mean anything, and he thinks the idea of marriage is pretty much pointless. It's fine for those that choose to do it, but it's not for him and he's never wanted it. It only complicates things and turns already boring adult things into a nightmare. It's nothing more than a title, and Sirius despises titles.

They compromise by moving in together, adopting six dogs, a bearded dragon, and, briefly, a mooncalf.

"Thinking about being faced with death...always leaves me a little scared." The girl's gaze then shifted towards the sky; the sky that is dark, yet peppered with stars shining in the darkness, not decorated with fireworks yet. "But...the thought of dying in the midst of such beautiful fireworks puts me at ease."

Destonio grew even more concerned and confused each passing second. He doesn't seem like it, but he feels like anxiety is starting to show itself to him too. "The world is scary, but I want you to live your best life here, Destonio." Her voice snaps the boy back to reality, and now he is faced with his friend, who is now looking at him with a soft gaze.

"Lumine...what is this supposed to mean...?" He asked, fear present in his voice as anxiety starts to eat him out slowly. Like a predator eating out its prey once its dead. Though this time, the feeling is eating him from the inside rather than starting from the outside first.

"Oh, you dumb-dumb! I just want you to live your life to the fullest. I want you to live your best life without me." Lumine went on to explain, but her answer to Destonio's question doesn't put him at ease. Rather, it made him even more scared for what's to come. "Lumine, you can cut out this bullshit now. The fireworks show is supposed to start, right? Why not we just- y'know, watch it peacefully without this nonsense?" He pleaded, it sounded like a demand, however.

"Yeah, but I think it's best if you just watch it without me." Lumine replied, before smiling at her now shaken friend once again. "Don't worry about me, Destonio. Maybe in one way or another, I'll become a pretty Goddess!"

"Lumine, this isn't funny—!"

"Now, I think it's time for me to go."

Oh how that sentence made Destonio's breath hitched.

"Farewell..."

"Destonio."

She never failed to notice that he always walked on the outside of the sidewalk. If they were ever walking down the street together, he would position himself between her and the road, gently moving her to his other side with a careful hand on the small of her back.

When they laughed, it made his heart swell. They would throw their head back nearly every time, as if it was the funniest joke in the world. He loved to watch the joy take over their features. It was like their laugh melted away all the bad things. His favorite part of their laughter, however, was how their hand would always land on his arm. It would linger on his skin as they giggled, sending fireworks through him.

When they were hanging out with a group, she noticed that her eyes were always meeting theirs. How long it took her to notice that she would look for them in a crowd, she didn't know. Nor did she know when they started looking for her.

As they walked side by side, he would playfully elbow her in her side with a bright smile. A teasing gesture, but it never failed to make her heart flutter.

"Can I walk you home?"

Their hands would brush, knuckle against knuckle. A brief warm touch on an otherwise cold day. She would savor that touch, make it last as long as she could. She wanted nothing more than to grab their hand with her own and rub soothing circles on the base of their thumb with hers.

luke castellan masterlist part one

“Hi.”

You jump slightly. “Hey. You scared me,” you breathe a nervous laugh through your nose. What was taking Luke so long?

You and your boyfriend had gone to the fourth of July bonfire- together, obviously- and he had disappeared, mentioning something vague about drinks and the Stoll twins (probably seeking their most recent stock of soda stash, smuggled, of course) when a slightly older camper approached you. You recognised him as an Apollo camper- you had seen him train with a bow and arrow; he was good.

He sits down next to you on the sand, slightly too close for you to be fully comfortable. Your eyes dart around frantically, looking for one of your siblings to save you- but Silena was cosied up with Beckendorf, foreheads pressed together and giggling whilst Lacy was chatting up a newer camper. You curse internally, the rest of your siblings either splashing around in the ocean or helping set up for the firework display. You offer the unfamiliar camper another strained smile in a futile attempt at breaking the awkward silence.

What was his name? Something starting with 'M', maybe?

“What’s a pretty girl like you doing alone?” the mystery boy asks- a bit too directly, in your opinion, for someone you hardly know.

You give a little giggle, hoping it sounds appreciative of the basic compliment. Even after being in this agonising situation on multiple occasions, you had gotten no better at handling them. You sigh wistfully. If only your mother had given you powers to deter unwanted attention as well as attracting it.

“Uh… I’m waiting. For my boyfriend.” You ensure to place extra emphasis on the title. He smirks, unfazed.

“Some shitty boyfriend, huh?” He says in satisfaction, completely misreading the situation to fancy his own whims, accompanied with the fakest sympathetic sigh. It makes you want to scream.

“No, actually-”

“Actually, the ‘shitty’ boyfriend’s right here.”

You can’t help but exhale in relief, muscles loosening at the mere sound of Luke’s voice. You stand up, turning around to face him. “Luke.”

“Hey, doll.” The glare etched in his sculpted features (directed at the obnoxious flirt) contrasts greatly with the gooey sweetness of his greeting. “Who’s your friend?”

You try not to snort. “Uh…”

He doesn’t wait for an answer, wrapping a fierce arm around your shoulders. You melt into him. “There a problem, buddy?”

An amused smirk creeps onto your face, and you have to bite the inside of your cheek to keep from laughing. Luke never calls anyone ‘buddy’.

“N- no, course not, I was just…” the Apollo camper stutters.

Luke raises a blond eyebrow. “Just?”

“Keeping her company!” he blurts out, already beginning to edge away from the conversation. 

Luke looks at the ground, lips curving upwards in a cold smirk. “Well, for next time, don’t worry. I’ll take you with me next time, sweet thing, if you feel lonely, ‘kay?” he simpers, half- joking for your entertainment, half in seriousness in wanting to ward off the unsuspected boy. By this time, he’s already gone and Luke leans down to whisper, hand tightening around your waist slightly as his lips brush the shell of your ear. “My girl,” he mutters.
