Sorry to be in your inbox 10000000 times a day, but now you've given ME Sirius/Benjy brainrot. I love them so much. I know that they do eventually get married bc of your tags. How does Benjy eventually propose? (Or Sirius!)
You can come into my inbox 100000000000000000000 times a day if you want. You are always welcome here (especially with these yummy treats!).
I don't think it would be a whole big thing, honestly. Sirius would have made his stance on marriage clear. He doesn't want it, they're fine as they are. Benjy maybe asks him once, seriously (sort of), Sirius turns him down, again expresses his feelings on the matter, and that's that.
And then, of course, Benjy turns it into a thing. Like a little private joke. He starts asking Sirius to marry him a lot. Like weekly. Sirius makes him dinner and Benjy asks him to marry him with a goofy smile on his face as Sirius rolls his eyes and makes a quip. Sirius buys him something he really likes at the store and Benjy asks him to marry him. Sirius passes him the butter and Benjy asks him to marry him. It becomes their little inside joke, something they'll even do around their friends that causes the others to groan or tell them to just do it already because enough is enough, but Sirius doesn't cave to it.
Until Sirius starts coming around to the idea with Benjy being none the wiser, so one day he asks Sirius to marry him as Sirius hands him a fluffy and warm towel through the bathroom door. And Sirius says yes.
And Benjy immediately slips and falls on the bottom of the shower floor.

Tuesday Snippet
Thank you for the tag, @brandileigh2003! <3
A little piece of the Sirius/Benjy goodness for everyone because it's the only current thing I have that I'm allowed to share, and honestly, they're really clogging my brain right now.
Gently tickling @tracingpatternswrites @mycupofrum @squintclover & @theresthesnitch
--
Groaning deeply, Sirius lets his head fall backwards, thumping his skull against the bricks behind him. His eyes roll towards the star sprinkled sky above them, Sirius tracking the blankets of clouds as they drift and block his view.
"D'you remember when we used to do these assignments together and never talk? I miss that," he mutters in irritation.
Beside him, Fenwick huffs out a tiny laugh. "I don't see why," he responds, not sounding bothered. "Talking makes the time pass much faster."
"We're not even meant to be talking."
"Yeah, because you're such a goody-good for the rules," remarks Fenwick in a knowing way, and Sirius curls deeper into himself, scowling at the dark sky. "We're safe. We've got the muffling charm, and there's nothing happening in that building. Nothing's going to happen in that building, you know that as well as I do."
Silence descends around them for a moment until:
"Do you have a problem with me talking to you?" asks Fenwick.
"When you're doing nothing but prattling like a loose-tongued prat, yes," drawls Sirius.
Fenwick clicks his tongue, almost like he's mocking Sirius' foul temper. "I don't consider asking about your life as senseless prattling."
"Why do you care?" demands Sirius waspishly, rounding on the other man, brows lowered deeply over his eyes. "You don't like me."
Fenwick blinks at him. "When have I ever said that?" he questions dumbly, and Sirius scoffs.
"You don't have to say it. It's been perfectly clear. You barely graced me with a look until the first time we were paired together, and don't think I didn't notice how unhappy you were about that."
Humming quietly, Fenwick tips his head back in a mimic of Sirius' previous position. "I'm not sure why that points to me not liking you," he says calmly, body completely relaxed. "I'll admit, you didn't impress me much in the beginning. You were too eager, too juvenile about the whole thing, but you're young. It's to be expected, so I pushed you to the side."
"Like you're so old?" counters Sirius a bit scathingly, pulling Fenwick's gaze to him again.
"Compared to your once bushy and wagging tail?" he responds plainly. "Yes."
Knees spreading apart as he shifts, Sirius fidgets with his cloak, pulling it more tightly around him to block out the cold, not that he feels it much, doing everything he can to avoid looking at the other man, but he can't make himself avoid it for long. His eyes flicker around, landing on Fenwick, narrowing as he calculates his partner.
"So, why the questions now? What's changed?" he asks gruffly, and Sirius is surprised by the slow-spreading smile that begins to engulf Fenwick's features, shadowed in the darkness but still obvious.
"You've grown on me," answers Fenwick easily, not moving as he stares at Sirius, "and now I find you fascinating."

James and Sirius falling in love in their 30s. It took one broken marriage, many failed relationships and years of close friendship until they realised something that was already there all this time.
It was always you.

Are Sirius and Benjy interested in marriage, or are they "we don't need a piece of paper to know how we feel about each other" kinds of people?
Benjy is 100% on board for marriage. He wants that piece of paper, in whatever form it may come. He wants to frame it and hang it on their wall and surround it by pictures of themselves and their life that spreads out and covers all four walls of one room and trails down the hallway and into the kitchen as they age.
Sirius is very much on the other side of that fence. It is only a piece of paper. It doesn't really mean anything, and he thinks the idea of marriage is pretty much pointless. It's fine for those that choose to do it, but it's not for him and he's never wanted it. It only complicates things and turns already boring adult things into a nightmare. It's nothing more than a title, and Sirius despises titles.
They compromise by moving in together, adopting six dogs, a bearded dragon, and, briefly, a mooncalf.

What do Sirius and Benjy name the dogs they are definitely going to adopt?
Okay, first of all, they have six dogs. They said five was enough and called it quits, but that didn't last because five is an uneven number and Sirius doesn't like uneven numbers (which is the exact argument he used on Benjy when he came strolling through their door with number six). Most of them are medium to large pups except for one tiny one because it fits in Sirius' pocket.
They started off with one because obviously Sirius is the main pooch in everyone's lives and Benjy didn't want him to get jealous, but OF COURSE that singular puppy got lonely whenever they had to leave, so he needed a sister.
Their names are as follows:
Bex Chicken (he clucked when he was a pup; cutest thing ever) Auggie Strummer Aardvark (Benjy won that argument) Mousse
(they also have a bearded dragon called Egley k byeeeee)

Tell me things about Sirius and Benjy! (If they aren't spoilers for your fic, lol.) What's their first date like? Who asks who out first? What's Sirius's favorite thing about Benjy? What does Benjy like best about Sirius? I want to know everything!
Ahhh! I will tell you everything! The brain rot is strong, and it's starting to rot the rest of my body.
We're going to start at the beginning. I don't think they like each other all that much from the start when they first meet after Sirius joins the Order. Benjy's older (31) and he's been at this building war for a while, and Sirius is a wide-eyed, wet behind the ears, too eager 19 year old itching to prove himself as more than the outcast Black on the wrong side of the war from the rest of his family. Virtually a kid, can you imagine?
Benjy is a kinder soul, so he doesn't say much about it, just avoids Sirius and the newer recruits (mostly Sirius and James, two peas in a snug little pod and way too similar). Sirius barely acknowledges Benjy's existence because they don't have much in common, do they? Benjy is an old man, brittle and stagnant. He's boring. He plays by the rules and follows orders, but Sirius starts to show obvious disdain the first time they're paired up for an assignment and Benjy talks about all his Old Man Points of Life Wisdom.
Then they get paired together more often a bit later in the war. Sirius realizes that Benjy isn't so bad after all. He's funny. He's mischievous. And yeah, maybe he's got a nice smile.
And of course Sirius is attractive. Anyone with eyes can see that clearly, but Benjy doesn't pay much attention to looks (lies). It's Sirius' laugh that hooks him. The way he talks about his friends like they're the most important things in the universe. It's his relish and fire for life, for that constant step forward, always seeking more, sucking the marrow out of each day.
Realizing they're maybe not so far off from one another, they make plans to see one another outside of Order activities, and that's wonderful. It's lovely. Except for one crucial detail.
Benjy asks Sirius to meet him at a Muggle pub for a drink and a chat, maybe a bit of food. Brilliant! They're halfway through before Benjy makes a comment and Sirius understands. It's a date. He's never been on an honest to god date before. He doesn't want to date, has no interest in it. Dating is for people like James, not people like Sirius who's already moved ten spaces ahead before his finished with the move he's making now. Dating is for people that aren't in the middle of fighting a war. It's for people who see a future beyond the war (though of course his view does a complete 180 after Harry is born, that bright little sunbeam of the future held in Sirius' arms).
Sirius Black does not date, but he'd very much like to keep meeting Benjy at this pub. He'd like to meet him at other pubs and maybe pick him up at his door to take him to a pub, and also possibly the zoo because they both have a fantastic fascination with animals and creatures, and maybe they should go to one of those Muggle theme parks Lily keeps talking about because they sound thrilling, and he'd also very much like to get Benjy inside his flat and show him how he's mastered the usage of the strange thing called a microwave and -
(Benjy says yes to all of it)

I’m in the mood to talk about Sirius and Benjy again. Possibly because I’m writing about them, but that’s neither here nor there.
Anyways, I’m back on my soapbox to preach about how great they are and how determined I am to make them a ✅ Verified Ship. 🫡

Devil in the Kitchen
My submission for @hprecipe-recfest! Please enjoy!
"Says I've gotta bake it for twenty minutes again." He frowns, eyes narrowing, the point of his wand scratching at the side of his head through his mess of hair. "What sense does that make? Why would you twice bake a – wait!" He reaches forward, snatching something, a card quickly flinging over his shoulder and fluttering to the floor behind him. "Wrong one. Done with that. Right. It's time for the sweetened condensed milk."
"Gods help Lily Potter," groans Remus, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers. James ignores him.
"I don't have condensed milk," bemoans James.
"And we've established you don't even know what it is," states Sirius like an eager puppy, leaning forward on the sofa. "You could use milk."
"Don't use milk!" warns Remus.
"I'm going to use milk!" chimes James excitedly. "We've got loads of it."
Remus whimpers, knees twitching up towards his chest like a frightened child.
"You're going to poison your wife."
"Hush, Moony. You're being dramatic," scolds Sirius, flapping a hand in his direction.

I’ll forever be confused how we (the marauders fandom) looked at the whole cast of characters and concluded that the sarcastic ones were Remus and Regulus. I can’t recall Remus ever being sarcastic in canon, and the only words we get from Regulus are incredibly earnest and pompous and compared to Percy Weasley in tone.
While the characters who do engage in sarcasm—Sirius, Severus, and ‘cheeky’ Lily—are relegated to “too vapid to understand sarcasm", “pompous prat with no sense of humor” and “incredibly sweet until she’s not”.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tags, @brandileigh2003 @tracingpatternswrites & @mycupofrum!
Username: heartofspells
1. How many works do you have on A03?
96, all of them HP except for one lonesome Supernatural fic
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1,685,584
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter, though I've dabbled in a few others, only one fic of which is still available for Supernatural
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
At the Healing Edge of Broken
Prick the Craving, Watch it Seep
Multiplying Parents
How to Succeed in Business
The Tying of Canines
5. Do you respond to comments?
I used to. Hardly ever anymore, and unfortunately, I've got solid reasons for that. I will respond to them if someone asks a question that legitimately needs answering or similar. And while I maybe don't respond to them anymore, I do read every single one multiple times. I love comments, and I'm so grateful for everyone who takes time out of their lives to leave them for me <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ah...heh. That's really not an easy question to answer for me. I guess, coming from a personal stance, knowing everything I put into it and the build up that led to then ending, I'd have to say Wasteland. That's the one that's still lingering with me to this day.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That's also hard to answer, because as much as I love flooding my fics with angst, I have a lot that end very happy or hopeful. Narrowing it down to longer fics with more character arc throughout, I'd probably say This Way We Fall because it leaves them on such a high note after all the struggle.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Unfortunately, yes, but that's part of it, I guess. I've become better at ignoring it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, but at the end of the day, it's mostly just typical smut when I look at it, though I do have a few kinkier ones scattered in there (ceiling smut, er...inter-species stuff). There's also the...not entirely nice stuff when it comes to smut as well simply because I like exploring all aspects of most everything.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Haven't so far. Doubt I ever will, but you never know.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! I co-wrote Family on the Mend with @tracingpatternswrites and it was so much fun! I'd love to co-write more fics in the future!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
It's gonna have to be Wolfstar just because that's where my heart has rested for years, but there are others that run as close seconds.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Oh god. YOU. It's not posted anywhere, still only exists in my docs, but I'm convinced that fic will haunt the rest of my life.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I always struggle with questions like this, but that also means I've spent a lot of time thinking about it over the years. I think, mostly based on reactions I've had and what other people have said, that I'm quite good at capturing heavy and deep emotions, hopefully enough to not only grip a reader, but to plunge them into the heart of a scene and make them feel those emotions as well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Details? There are times I think I'm terrible at this, and not just in fiction writing. It's in everything. Something might exist in my head, and I sometimes manage to forget that not everyone can see my exact thoughts and know what I'm thinking, so I leave important bits and pieces out of things and explanations that only end up confusing people - or worse, makes me seem not so great in general simply because I forgot the inclusion of a very important point when it mattered most.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm not against it, though it's not something I generally do because I don't know any other languages and that's a risky game to play. I'll only include it if I've spoken to someone who speaks that language fluently and has agreed to translate for me. But having other languages in a fic is a wonderful thing, especially if you're trying to include other cultures, though speaking as someone who has to rely on things like Google Translate that aren't always accurate, included translations are always appreciated.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
This changes constantly for me. I'm not sure how it couldn't. I love most of the fics I've written, and it's like choosing a favorite child sometimes. However, I think right now I'd have to say it's a toss up between CRuSH (i'm just so proud of this one) and Multiplying Parents (also very proud, and this one was so much fun and makes me grin every time i think about it).
Open tag! Because I'm very late to this and I've got the feeling most everyone has done this by now.
