Ex Libris
Tumblr media
If you want to protect your books, find yourself a mythical creature to keep inside your precious pages. You might have to go through quite a journey to obtain one though!
Tumblr media
She will protect your most precious books with the hair of sleeping changelings and the nettles of scheming witches!
Tumblr media
Worship your books with Rabbits and Wisteria! Always honour your most precious pages by gathering befriended creatures to dance with you under fragrant moonlit gardens. A book plate is secured in the front end paper of your chosen book and your name is written in the space provided. The Latin words “Ex Libris” are usually a part of most designs to indicate essentially - this book belongs to - but literally translates to “From the books”.
These designs are born from my love and adoration for books and printed objects. I think now that I have started, I will forever be thinking of new creations for future book plate illustrations!

Ok hear me out, I absolutely hate this guy but I can't deny the fact that he's so 😍😍😍
Tumblr media
My brother watched A Tale Dark and Grimm on Netflix and then this guy came in- 😳. I haven't read the book so I didn't know he was a warlock but I would've shipped him and Gretel if he wasn't evil.

I wrote a novel - a Beauty and the Beast retelling - that The Henlo Press liked enough to publish!
They're running a Kickstarter for pins, plushies, and format options that's live NOW. And, omgs, the designs are the cutest.

Title: Of Blood And Water
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I have begun putting a story together. I'm not sure how many people would enjoy it however it is fantasy! It's a troupe that has been done before and I'm hoping to make my own mark with it. I'm taking fairy tale stories and creating my own world out of them.
My story is a rewrite of Peter Pan following the footsteps of his son and the son of captain hook. It is a queer enemies-to-lovers novel following the exploration of family trauma and bonding between friends.

My Entertainment Weekend Update
My Entertainment Weekend Update
Hello my friends, and happy weekend! I’ve been continuing to read Convergence, by Zoraida Cordova, the adult novel in the first wave of Phase 2 High Republic books. I’m enjoying it, but as an adult novel, it doesn’t seem to have the same scope as other adult HR books. Instead of the usual galaxy-hopping, it takes place mostly on one, or at most, two planets. Add to this its focus on a group of…

Some bullshit you will hear about Little Mermaid by Andersen:
- the Disney version is faithful to the original: hahahaha. Nope. At all! First of all the original version had a huge Christian moral substrate, also, I don't like giving spoilers, but in the original version the little mermaid not only doesn't marry the prince at the end, but also dies to not murder the prince she still loved;
- the events took place in Denmark: noooooope. But could take place in Danish West Indian colony (also called Danish Antilles): from 1672 to 1917 Denmark had clonies in the Caribbean, consisting of the islands of Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix;
Tumblr media
- Ariel and her sisters rapresented the seven seas: Nope! The Merman King had 6 daughters, not 7! Disney also add a daughter to create this “7 seas reference”;
Tumblr media
- the little mermaid has a connection to Greek mythology: nope! The King in original fairy tale doesn't have a name, nor his daughters have one too! All the names you known were created by Disney, who took inspiration by Greek mythology: King Triton takes his name after the ocean god, son of Poseidon, Triton, who is known for having lower half of a fish, while the top half is presented in a human figure! Also, in the Disney adaptation, King Triton was married with a mermaid named Athena, who is named after a Greek Goddess who had a conflictual relationship with Poseidon, because they fought to be the protective deity of Athens and (obviously) Athena won.
So, not only Disney changed the original story so much that you would be a lot traumatized by reading the original version, but also it's reasonable notice how fairy tales transpotions change during the time: in Andersen's age brutal ending were considered normal, it was a technique to moralize children by scaring their guts, while nowadays we prefer a more soft approach to teach children good values and principles.

Sketched some bug fairies/people today! Inspired by the book Honeycomb by Joanne M. Harris, which I just started reading. I’m really liking it so far. Imagining what the Lacewing King and all the other fairy insects look like is very entertaining. Especially species that aren’t mentioned in the book, like this crazy gum-leaf skeletoniser caterpillar I found today.
