[Commissioned by Soluman Blevins. Evolve is a game I was only passingly aware of, since some artists I follow had done concept art for it. The premise is a fun take on an asymmetrical shooter. Four players are the humans and one is the monster. The monster starts fairly weak, but can evolve (hence the title) by killing computer controlled wildlife, which act as threats to all players.
Of the main enemy monsters, the Wraith is apparently the overpowered one, and was nerfed in later updates before the game was simply abandoned. So I knew I wanted her to be a high CR monster. I ended up picking CR 17 because in the quadrant of 16-20, that was the CR I had the least aberrations in. Sometimes game design leads to arbitrary decisions.
Also, notice how weirdly horny this design is. The Wraith has great hips and thighs for a creature with no legs.]
Warpwraith CR 17 LE Aberration This creature has a lithe, roughly humanoid torso, but its head is little more than a fanged knot of tissue. It has four arms, two of which have clawed hands and the other two of which bear oversized scything blades. Its lower body has bulbous, stabilizing structures that are vaguely thigh shaped, but these terminate not in legs but in three snaking tentacles, on which it slithers effortlessly.
A warpwraith is a powerful alien predator that can manipulate space in a variety of teleportation effects. They glide along the ground using strange forces, not quite slithering and not quite flying, able to traverse undergrowth, rubble or even cross water with ease. They hunt with hit and run strikes, tearing at prey with their claws and armblades. If they face a group, they often rush in with incredible speed, causing a shock wave as their presence ripples the fabric of space. They then grab a single opponent and rush off with them in order to tear them to pieces while their allies recover. If enemies are warded against teleportation, or if the warpwraith is feeling vindictive, it will glow with the light of a sun, simultaneously speeding up its own movements while slowing down others. Warpwraiths rarely fight until slain, using their spell-like abilities to flee and mislead pursuers.
Although warpwraiths behave like beasts, they are of near human intellect, and great canniness besides. They are often on good terms with other powerful monsters, forming alliances to achieve common goals rather than fighting for domination. They also like to taunt their enemies with brief telepathic messages, usually done from hiding long before they strike. They prefer to hunt alone—on the planet to which they are native, they are top predators, with enormous amounts of territory for each.

Armblades (Ex) The armblades of a warpwraith are treated as primary natural weapons that deal x4 damage on a successful critical hit. Isolate (Su) A warpwraith gets its sneak attack to damage against an enemy with no allies within 60 feet, even if the creature is not flat-footed or flanked. Lighter Than Air (Ex) A warpwraith moves by floating, using its three tentacle tails to steer. Although it cannot properly fly, it ignores all difficult terrain and can move across water or other liquid surfaces without penalty. If it does find itself above the ground, it descends at a rate of 60 feet per round and takes no damage, as a feather fall spell. Supernova Aura (Su) Once per day as a standard action, a warpwraith may shed bright light in a 60 foot radius and gain the benefits of a haste spell for 1 minute. All creatures in the area must succeed a DC 25 Will save or be slowed, as per the spell, for as long as they remain within the aura and for 1d4 rounds thereafter. A creature that succeeds this save is immune to the supernova aura of that warpwraith for the next 24 hours. The save DC is Charisma based. Warp Blast (Su) As a full round action, a warpwraith can move up to twice its speed in any direction, including into the air. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. When it arrives at its chosen location, a blast of energy goes off. All creatures in a 30 foot radius take 8d8 points of force damage and are knocked prone. A DC 25 Fortitude save halves the damage and negates the prone effect. This is a teleportation effect. A warpwraith can use this ability once every 1d4 rounds. The save DC is Charisma based.

How to heal yourself.
2016
Step 1. Admit that you’ve had enough of your current conditions, internal or external.
Step 2. Be so incredibly desperate for change that absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, is going to stop you from changing the way your life is and how you live it.
Step 3. Start with something simple. Start moving your body and feeding it better. Right now, it’s the most immediate change that can start in your immediate environment.
Step 4. Start to research something your inner voice has been asking you to do. Simple exercises, meditation and breathing techniques to help you find calm in a crazy world, inner and outer.
Step 5. Start to integrate mindfulness into your day, starting with your thoughts, the negative ones. It’s time to build yourself back up, emotionally.
2019
Step 6. I took the spiritual/esoteric approach to self healing which introduced me to yoga, the Bahgavad Gita, The Mahabharata, healing the inner child and past traumas, channeling, tarot reading, brain and heart coherence, the human body and it’s cells, energetic healing, ufology, and psychic gifts and abilities.
Step 7. Start practicing what you’ve been taught. Now it’s time to work. Every day you will now be the loving and caring, mindful and compassionate, caring, forgiving and loving student of the Universe, for your greatest good and the greatest good of all.
Step 8. Go with the flow. Once you’ve let go of your deep hurts and restrictions there is a peace that you start to embody that starts to push you to practice giving up the need to control every aspect of your day. Learn to ride the waves of other peoples emotions, your own emotions and the things that happen during your day that you may want to “fix” or “organise”.
Step 9. Go deeper into why you feel the need to control everything and learn about the ego.
2020
Step 10. Welcome to shadow work. This is where it gets a bit rough but, with a strong inner focus on love and your intentions dead set on healing, you will be able to survive the next chapter of your life where the universe shows you how tough you really are by taking everything that once gave you pleasure, comfort and even, love. It’s time to learn to surrender to change and know that as painful as it is in the moment, it is happening because you chose to love yourself. It seems a little odd saying that but, after all that I’ve learned on my journey of healing so far, I know in my heart, the heart that is now connected to all things, the universe loves you unconditionally. The changes that you experience may feel otherwise however when you turn to your higher power, each and every time the world changes a bit more, in a bullet to the heart way, you will be caught, you will be loved through your pain, your tears will flow and your heart will open to the benevolence of the universe and just how much it loves you.
Note*
Step 1 to 10 took me 5 years to complete. Although I battled myself, slipped into depression, wouldn’t honour it and decided to self medicate through the pain. I threw myself into my creativity centre as an escape and started building miniature houses.
2021
Step 10.1. Decide that you are ready to heal, again, and start step 1. This time you sort of jump over steps 2 and 3. Step 4 hits a little harder this time around, at least it did in my case. My passions are simple, I love human beings to death, healing humans with the knowledge and abilities I have developed is my second passion, the third is cars. I love engines. I think they are fantastic works of human mechanical engineering genius. This love pushed me to follow the passion and be a mechanical engineering apprentice for a month on a macadamia and avocado farm.
The reason this step 4 hit harder than before was because doing something I was PASSIONATE about it got the universe spinning again, and with that I had to say another sad goodbye to one’s I loved as they left the planet, and others I had to let go of.
Step 10.2. Divine placement. Feeling lost will feel normal round about now. There will be an existential loneliness hanging over you like a weighted blanket and a longing for home like a hunger in your belly that you’ve never had before. You’ll look for places to call home, and might travel far and wide to try feel them out but, nothing hits the chord until you end up back at the home you left before your journey to new began a few years ago. Home doesn’t feel like home though, it’s like coming back to a memory of the past, but someone’s gone and torn all the doors off their hinges and let the land reclaim the once cared for, and tended to gardens… but it’s familiar, so it’s home anyway.
2022
Step 11. Rest, or so you may think… or wish for. You’re still healing and you’ve still got some work to do. This time the healing might become unbearable, like you’re waiting in a train station where no trains ever travel to. So what you’ve got now is time. All the time in the world to talk to yourself and work out the very last kinks in your internal dialogue, the one so deep it can only be contacted in dreams, and it only speaks to you in riddles.
2023
Step 12. Time to walk, the train isn’t coming.
A new awareness grows inside of you, one that comforts you in the knowledge that you are you own creation and your journey is one to walk with curiosity and excitement.

I feel like Lucy Gray’s fashion sense had an influence on the Capitol. It’s mentioned in the book that she’s wearing makeup, which is notable to Coriolanus and he wonders where she got it from since it was barely becoming accessible again in the Capitol. In the movie one of his classmates mocks what she is wearing, asking if she thinks she’s a clown. It isn’t common to dress like her, but she owns her own style and the Capitol LOVES her. Coriolanus, as he tries to get sponsors for her, makes the case that since she is Covey perhaps she isn’t really district at all, in fact she’s really more Capitol than anything… and perhaps it rubbed off. Perhaps her sense of extra-ness, her fun makeup even at the reaping, her colorful dress at a dark occasion….perhaps that’s one part of her legacy that never truly goes away, even when the name of Lucy Gray Baird is erased from the memories of the people of Panem.
