Day 13: DUST model of procrastination 
The DUST model of procrastination helps us understand and identify reasons that we might be procrastinating. The model suggests that there are 4 common ways people procrastinate.  
Difficult: you may find the task too challenging.  
Lack of confidence  
Lack of skills 
Solution: Move the starting point a bit earlier. Clearly define the first step, commit to it, and do not create a list of pre-tasks.   
I've wanted to commit to the second brain concept for over a year, but I started last month. I struggled with understanding the concept because I was overthinking it. I made it out to be this challenging task and did extensive research because I lacked the skills to commit. Updating my second brain consistently has not been as challenging as I thought.   
Unclear: the task maybe unclear defined  
In order to be productive we need clearly defined actions. Sometimes we procrastinate because we don’t understand or because we just don’t know where it start.  
Solution: Make your tasks more detailed and break them down into simple, actionable, clearly defined items   
I'm dealing with this at work currently. In addition to my routine assignments, we have this list of side projects we would like to work on throughout the year to ensure we update what we need and find new areas where our processes can improve. I procrastinated on starting a few of them, not because they were difficult but because I needed to figure out where to start. I met with my manager to better understand how to tackle them, and I was able to outline how I would do it.   
Scary: Our fear of failure can get in the way.  
The biggest changes we want to make and the most exciting projects we want to work on are the most daunting.  
Procrastination is a way to stay in your comfort zone  
Solution: create an even bigger fear to triumph over the original one   
This is the one that usually bites me the most, especially when learning something new or given a new task. I know that I can't grow in my comfort zone, but at the same time, I struggle with the fear of failure. However, my fear of stagnancy is far greater than my fear of failure. I prefer to try and fail than to not try and stay in the same place.   
Tedious: tasks can just be boring  
There is no way to change the nature of the task itself, but you can change your environment  
Solution: Listen to a playlist while writing the email, or reward yourself when the task is done to make it more exciting  
This is another one that bites me wrong, especially when crafting emails. 75% of my day is spent crafting emails which sometimes feels like pulling teeth and just playing boring. To combat this, I carve out time in the morning to send tedious emails while listening to upbeat music.  
Procrastination is natural; it could also be how our body and mind tell us we need a break. If you feel you procrastinate, whether because it's complicated, unclear, scary, tedious, or a combination of all four reasons, it's good to ask yourself why and apply simple strategies to tackle the problem head-on.

𖦹 it is okay to take breaks: if a task takes up to much energy, add small breaks in between. if the day is too hectic, take some time to come back to yourself and calm your body and mind.
𖦹 you dont need to know: why someone doesnt like you, why some people are shitty, why some things happened the way they did. sometimes its okay to just accept the way life goes and detach yourself from it.
𖦹 it is okay to be you: you dont need to follow trends just to fit in, you dont need to change things you love about yourself just because someone else might not.
𖦹 you are beautiful: ´beauty is subjective´ might be true to some, but beauty is everywhere and within everyone. not only are you unique on the outside, but also on the inside. you are one of a kind, your soul is irreplaceable. appreciate your existence, stop worrying about fitting in, no one is you but you.
𖦹 gratitude: keeping a gratitude journal helps you appreciate the smaller things in life too. listing 3 things you were grateful for for the day is a great thing to add to your night routine in order to end the day on a positive note. dont be discouraged if some days have only 1 thing on the list.
𖦹 take time for hobbies: including a part of your hobby even during a busy day is a positive activity that could lift up your mood and motivate you. this could be as simple as listening to a song.
𖦹 it is okay to ask for help: from friends, family, professionals and people who offer it to you. it is not selfish or annoying, every human needs some social interaction and sometimes that consists of talking about the things that are going on in your life.
𖦹 set boundaries: whoever doesnt respect those, should not be in your energy. you should be the one deciding what you let slide and what crosses a line for you. dont let everything slide past you though.
𖦹 speak, even if your voice shakes: it is okay to be vulnerable, to cry when talking about a sensitive topic or to be nervous when speaking with someone you might not know. you are strong.
𖦹 you matter: even if it feels lonely sometimes, there is always someone who cares. if you dont know who to talk to, I am here and so are many others. you are not alone.
𖦹 take time to enjoy: food, drinks, songs, friends, clothes, hobbies etc... being mindful while doing something you enjoy helps you develop a closer relationship to it, while being more fun.
𖦹 stop obsessing over love: while it is okay to manifest your desired relationship, obsessing over it can be very unhealthy.
𖦹 your past does not define you: people change and so can you, you just need to find a healthy way to learn from mistakes and bad situations you were in once.
𖦹 breathe: close your eyes, take a breath and accept positivity into your life. you deserve everything good.

One of the examples that really stuck out in my mind was when Edward Bernays designed a campaign to get women to buy more clothing. At the time, women, and I guess everybody, really just wore kinda the same outfit everyday, which suited everybody just fine, but it didn't result in the sort of profits that the fashion industry wanted. So, he hired celebrities to get on TV and talk about how, 'Oh if you're a woman and you wear the same thing everyday, you give off an image that you're boring and bland. And there's certainly interesting things about you and you should show that through the clothes you wear. Wear new clothing. Mix it up. Show that you're an interesting person.' And so, this association with character and worth as a person became associated with the clothes that you wore.
And this idea that 'I'm a woman. And I wanna go to the shopping mall to buy a dress because that dress is going to make me happy. And it's going to show off my interesting personality.' Question that. Where did that idea come from? Because that idea was planted in our culture by a sexist middle-aged man that had no interest in fashion, no artistic talents for it, and really didn't care what women thought in the first place. Is that where we want the motivation to buy things to come from?

something about posting photos of my (personal) life feels soo :’) odd sometimes. there are some moments that i simply want to keep untainted: memories, not displays. these moments are mine. all the peace, all the mundanity, all the smiles, all the sunlight, all the intimacy, all the joy. they don’t need to be seen by any other eyes. i wanna allow the moments to stay the way they were, sacred. i want to remember the way i felt and what i experienced, not how i looked or what other people thought of it.
