Safe Buck/Eddie (pre-relationship), Ravi/Probie, Bobby Speculation for 4x13, contains character death
He feels his body collapsing before the gunshot even rings out.
One minute he’s standing there talking to Ravi while the team is loading the kid up into the ambulance. And the next he’s face-planted in the concrete. The world has tipped abruptly into chaos, screaming voices overlapping with calls on the radio he can barely distinguish over the ringing in his ears. He’s trapped, body paralyzed with fear and completely unable to move, barely able to breathe. The only things he can see are boots running on the other side of the ladder truck and one of the tires, nothing to tell him what is happening, no anchor to grasp on to to hoist himself out of this chaotic spiral.
“118 sound off,” a voice calls over the radio, distorted and muffled. “Nash, clear.”
“Han.”
“Wilson.”
“Fogelson.”
“Jones.”
“Anderson.”
Each voice eases a little of the pressure building up in his chest. His people, his family, they’re okay. But he hasn’t heard …

hi! i just wanted to say that evan mock, one of the rpc's fav filipino faceclaims, is bisaya on his mother's side! i know we know he's filipino but i freaked out when he posted an ig story of his mom talking to him in bisaya. and he understands the language too, which makes me so happy! so if you're playing evan, i hope you consider acknowledging his bisaya heritage! it's so rare for me to see a faceclaim as popular as evan be bisaya AND be in touch with his heritage too.

I gotta say i truly don’t like EddieAna in canon, but your fic was fantastic! (All your works are, btw) If i may ask, did you write this because you ship them or simply because you felt inspired? Also, did you have any way in mind how this would continue? It felt quite open ended.
Hey Nonny!
I’m kind of on the fence about EddieAna. I don’t think we know enough about her to make a judgement call about her personality, and I’ve enjoyed watching Eddie grin like a dork whenever he talks to/about her. I think it’s like I said in the fic: they like each other and that’s enough for now. I don’t think he’s going to marry her or anything, but if the writers want to keep her around past 4x14, they need to do some serious work.
I am, however, a Buddie shipper at heart and can’t help but compare Eddie’s relationships with Buck and Ana whenever possible. This also means that I have to fight my own little biases whenever I see Eddie and Ana together because, no, I don’t think they’re end game the way I think Buck and Eddie are...potentially end game.
This particular fic was a little challenge to myself. I don’t think I write nearly enough female characters, and I haven’t written a heterosexual relationship in a long time. So I wanted to see if I could take what we know about Ana and turn it into a cohesive story.
I’m really happy to see such positive responses, because there has been a lot of Ana hate (I think there’s an Anti-Ana tag on ao3 because of all the fics) so I was kind of worried. That said, I don’t have any plans for writing more, but I also know she’s going to be in next week’s episode so maybe something will spark.

What if Jayden had died that Halloween night?
Part 2
Silence permeated the room around them. Still he focused on the floor not wanting to look into the eyes of his friend. Friend? Yes friend his mind repeated, confirming it to himself. Hayle had found him beside Jayden's grave. He went there often. He wasn't quite sure why. He needed something tangible to hold even if it were the cold, uncaring surface of a gravestone. He went there to talk. To cry. To wish that death would take him too. "I don't want to go on without him," he sniffed lifting his head enough to take in his new surroundings. Still refusing to look at Hayle he murmured "I know it's not your fault. You saved my daughter. Why us and not him? What made us special?" He stiffened at the touch on his shoulder. His first instinct was to shake it off. He didn't want to be comforted or did he? He needed ... something. He felt starved for more than just food. He'd chased everyone else away even his daughter. "What do I do?" he sobbed "I don't know what to do." to be continued ....

Not me thinking about how the 'great' moment in the Buddie fancam leads up to Buck complaining to Eddie while they're sat together on the couch, pressed knee to shoulder, drinking beers and lamenting their respective failed relationships.
And Buck naturally starts to demean himself, saying how he was too needy, too pushy, not what she wanted. And Eddie grabs him by the jaw, puts on that soft, low voice he always uses when he wants Buck to pay 100% attention to what he has to say.
"Buck. There isn't anyone in this world who wouldn't be lucky to have you."
Of course it leads to a soft confession. Maybe a little kissing. Maybe a little shy hand holding while they finish their beers and watch TV.
'THAT SOFT, LOW VOICE HE ALWAYS USES WHEN HE WANTS BUCK TO PAY 100% ATTENTION TO WHAT HE HAS TO SAY' - oh, wow, I'm sorry but this! because yes! he totally does put on this softer, quieter voice when he's having a serious conversation with buck (kinda like the voice he has when he and christopher have serious talks?!). I just love it getting the recognition it needs 💕
also. gods....where to begin?!
1. I absolutely LOVE getting these sorts of asks, even just people screaming about the show at me is so appreciated because ahh! I'm just honoured 😂
2. your mind? *chef's kisses*
3. there's something about soft confessions, eddie reassuring buck that people would be lucky to have him. 😭 that shit gets me right in the feels
4. EDDIE GRABBING BUCK BY THE JAW YES PLEASE
I honestly want this. like ugh. it's perfect and ily for sending me this ask!!

“An Emergency is the absence of choice. The randomness of the world... the crazy chaos of life, robbing us of our safety, our illusions. But in those moments of darkness and fear, we call out to the light up ahead, to the people we love. We steal back that choice, and we choose each other. “

What if Jayden had died that Halloween night?
Thank you for for the what if question @izayoichan sorry it took so long for me to answer.
Part 1
Evan kept his eyes fixed on the floor. It was easier to concentrate on it than the kind, concerned gaze from the man sitting beside him. Hayle had found him sitting in the rain. He was soaked. Cold. He hardly felt it. It had been 30 days. 4 weeks. A month. How could it be so long since he'd last seen Jayden's smile? Heard his voice? Felt his touch? Nothing seemed to matter. Time was meaningless. Why couldn't he just cease to exist? "I'm ...." his voice was hoarse as if he hadn't used it in weeks. He was going to say he was trying to cope but was he? Josie was with his dad. He was in no shape to care for anyone much less himself. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept. Ate. Bathed. "I don't know how to do this," he mumbled. "I don't want to go on without him." He felt the cushions move as Hayle adjusted his position beside him. He could still feel his gaze upon him. Silently watching. Waiting. Concerned.
"Why?" he mumbled "Why save me for this? This torment." A part of him blamed the dragon for saving his life two years earlier. Why save him and not Jayden?
To be continued....

But picture: she's too far away to see what's actually going on; she just heard the call of 'Shots fired! Firefighter down!' come over the radio and she can't safely get to where she can *see* but her cameraman keeps telling her not to look because he's taller and he can see what's going on, so now she's imagining the worst and starts spiraling from there. Like who is hit?! Does he not want her to look because it's Buck bleeding out down there? What just happened???
yup veryyyy good! i have a feeling that the reason buck’s got a bloody head is because he bonks his head on the pavement in the bustle of the sniper and is possibly unconscious (he’s not moving at all in the final pan out in the trailer) and it’ll become a “omg who’s been shot” and who hasn’t and no one will know how severe everyone’s injuries are and it’ll be a whole mess of tryna figure out who’s hurt! so taylor seeing him unconscious (cos of his head bonk, lol he’s so silly) and not knowing why he’s unconscious could be SUUUUUPER good for a feelings realisation/confession 😌

Isn't it interesting how the two episodes establishing Eddieana and Bucktaylor were by the same writer? Cause they follow the same formula of setting up the couple but with the "best friend" being in the middle of it somehow, Buck having to step in to handle the Chris situation and Eddie being brought onto Buck and Taylor's team for the treasure hunt. And the next episode is by two writers who have given us some of the best Buddie moments? High hopes :)
Nonnie, you are speaking my language! I did think about this right away. Bob Goodman wrote ep 408, which gave us that cringe scene with the math teacher kink which I wish I could erase from my brain. I knew he wrote ep 412 too, so I was going in very much wondering whether he’d give us something like that again. Well, he gave us everything you’ve mentioned, a parallel of interrupted kisses, and also, I think, a general sense that we are in the era of Buddie unhappily watching each other dating others. And I wasn’t aware of who the next writer/s are, I was just aware of Bob Goodman ‘coz several people were venting off about it. XD I’d love to be filled in, if you don’t mind! I’m very curious to see where the last two episodes of the season will take us... Thank you so much for this ask! xoxox
(two more about Taylor and Buck under the cut)
If you touch on this in your meta, feel free to ignore this ask. But I am scratching my head at the subtext of Taylor’s dialogue in the scene where she and Buck are drinking. Her line about a “selfish, lazy bastard ruining everything” obviously is referring to both the author and someone else, but who could the someone else be? My buddie lens says “Eddie,” but my brain says they’re likely setting up a backstory for her. I wonder how you read that dialogue?
Hi Nonnie, thank you for this question! I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure. The subtext of that scene played out really weird IMO. I mean, clearly “so close” has a double meaning, playing between how close they got to solving the Hollis treasure mystery and how Buck and Taylor are so close in that moment to kissing (without going through with it). What’s weird to me is Buck asking Taylor if he can still hate Hollis. This is after she contradicts the ‘lazy’ part with saying he did like to jog. Why should Buck not be allowed to hate Hollis just ‘coz he liked to jog? Or more than that, why should Buck hate him at all? He’s not generally the hating type of person. He doesn’t even properly hate his own parents after everything they’ve put him and Maddie through. He’s hurt, but he doesn’t seem to hate them from the last convo we saw in 405 and the indication he’s willing to give them time and invest efforts in making things better with them by going to therapy together. So that bit of dialogue felt weird to me. I think it mostly refers, through the double meaning, to Buck hating that he wants to make a move with Taylor and it’s not working out.
So if Taylor’s line refers to someone else as well, through that same double meaning, it might be Eddie (if Taylor has realized Buck is secretly in love with), like you said, or it might be Buck himself, who might ruin their friendship by making a move. I actually think the latter is more likely to be the subtext of that line. Because Taylor friendzoning him is a certainty. She did it twice in this ep and there really was no mistaking the second time, she even brings up being ‘friends’. Whatever her reasoning for it being better if they remain just friends (maybe she realized Buck’s in love with Eddie, maybe she doesn’t think Buck can handle a r/s with her, maybe she doesn’t have a lot of friends so she wants one for real and is willing to choose that over a r/s), we know she def prefers this option, so Buck possibly ruining things by making a move just fits better. And I’m guessing we’ll learn what her reasoning is at some point during these last 2 eps of the season... I hope that helps, Nonnie! xoxox
What do you think about Buck pursuing Taylor and being rejected? I'm a bit confused like after that thing with Albert and Veronica he rejected her advances and I feel like it doesn't really make sense for his character to now make a move? It feels like the writers don't know a man and woman can spend time together and like.. Not do that :/
Nonnie, I feel that last statement so much. It’s true in general, not just for 911. There’s this underlying theme that if a man and a woman spend a lot of time together and unless of them is gay, there will be some tension between them, romantic, sexual or both. I wrote about this issue here as well. I do think Taylor was brought back in specifically to be Buck’s LI, and that the whole thing with Veronica was meant to build her as the better option (just like in s2, Taylor was used in ep 208 to make Ali look like the better choice). They’re just not pouncing into it, they’re giving it an extra moment. I don’t think they would have brought her back just to be Buck’s platonic friend and nothing more. They might have brought her back for her to be the one who goes, “oh, you moron, you’re in love with someone else,” I’m not dismissing this option, but currently I think they’ve invested too much time in her for that to be her only role. So for now I tend to think something more will happen with her and Buck. That doesn’t mean she’s his endgame, I don’t think it means Buddie has no chance, and also this might be me “caution thinking”, as in, I’m preparing myself, so I’m not too disappointed if that's what happens. At the end of the day, I believe 911 has a few more seasons in it and if Buddie happens, I never thought it would happen too quickly, meaning there might be more dating others on the way before these two men get together. And Taylor has struck me as being designated for that from the sec she was re-introduced. Buck has been shown her nicer kind, he stated he feels lonely, he stated he’d like to date. So for all that, he made a move. Doesn’t mean they’ll be together in the long run. Did I manage to answer your question? Let me know if you feel like it! xoxox

No Longer Feels Like Home

Read it on Ao3
Chapter 1: Manaʻo (Feeling)
Something was wrong with Buck.
Steve could sense it, because there was always some horrible sensation at the back of his head, screaming something he couldn't quite understand.
And it wasn't about his leg, nor the tsunami.
It was something else.
He had seen the news of the bomber in LA, and Danny had been his support while both saw Buck pinned to the road by that enormous fire truck in the news. Steve then had to explain what the kid meant to him, and some days later, he texted and called Buck to make sure he could count on him in whatever situation.
"Just text me and I will be taking the next plane to LA." Steve had said during a call.
Buck chuckled and thanked the former SEAL.
Five months later it was the pulmonary embolism.
Buck had texted Steve sometime before going over Athena's to have some 'celebration dinner' with Bobby, May, Harry, and her before his first shift after the accident.
Sometime later he received a message telling 'it was a party! :)' and a picture of him, Christopher, and Eddie.
He sent the picture to Danny, who had demanded that Steve told him about every news from Buck, although the detective and the firefighter didn't know each other.
'Are you kidding me? The kid looks like the Diazes had hung the moon for him.' Danny texted back.
Steve chuckled fondly, his mind free of worries until he unexpectedly woke up at 1 am, with a call from Buck's number.
"What the hell? It's 3 am in LA." He thought. But when he answered he noticed it wasn't Buck who called. It was a woman.
"Hi, um, am I talking to... Steve McGarrett?" She asked.
"Yes, ma'am. Is Buck okay?" Steve had woken up completely.
"Yes... No..." The woman doubted, she didn't know if she could trust this person, although her brother told her it was fine.
"What happened? Who are you? I want to talk to him now." Steve demanded as he stood up and started pacing around his room.
"He had a pulmonary embolism. I'm his older sister, Maddie. He wanted to talk to you, but the nurses took him for a CT scan, so I told him I would do it." Maddie answered, alarmed. Steve could sense the worry in her voice. So he told her comforting words until the nurses brought an asleep Buck back to his hospital room. She thanked his company and promised updates from his brother before cutting the call.
Then, like a week or two later, it was the tsunami.
Everyone was at the Five-0 headquarters, bored between the Hawaiian constant heat and the paperwork when Danny appeared through the office's cristal doors with fast steps and a tablet in his hands.
They all peeked from their offices at the detective when he exclaimed, "Hey! Something happened in LA!"
Steve knew it was directed to him, and his mind immediately rushed to think of every bad thing that could have happened. He calmed himself down before stepping out of his office.
When Danny reached the computer, he slid his hand through the tablet, to move the image into one of the screens. The group had reunited around the computer table to watch it.
The headline was worse than what they could have imagined.
"Tsunami hits Santa Monica Pier in LA"
Danny locked eyes with Steve for some seconds. He knew that Buck had texted the Commander, telling him that he and Christopher were going to the beach after Eddie dropped him off at his apartment to cheer him up.
Everyone's breath hitched when they watched the phone recorded video on the screen.
"Oh my god," Tani muttered as she saw the first wave hitting the pier on the news.
"This video was recorded by a brave teenager who is residing at Ocean Plaza Apartment, near the Santa Monica Pier.." The news reporter spoke but everything was just white noise to them.
A giant wave appeared in the background. The people who were at the border of the pier started running to the mainland and giving advice to others in their way.
The wave finally hit the pier and in a matter of seconds, all the people disappeared into the salty water.
All of the officers' stomachs dropped to the floor, their mouths dry with no words.
It looked unreal, like a movie.
Steve immediately looked for Buck's number on his phone and frenetically tried to call him. Meanwhile, Danny started calling Mary, Steve's sister who lived in LA, and Adam tried to contact Kono, his ex-wife.
Junior, Quinn, Lou, and Tani just stood there worried, watching as the men tried to contact their loved ones.
Danny and Adam finished their calls, and a tense ambient settled among them as Steve was still trying to contact Buck.
After trying one last time, he hit the table with his fist before he placed both of his hands on the computer table and looked at the floor.
The Five-0 members shared a look before Danny asked, "Steve?"
"I can't contact him." He sighed.
The men and women in the place shared another look; everyone thought he was trying to contact Mary.
Only Danny understood who he was referring to.
"What can I do to help?" He asked, hating to see Steve in that state.
"Find a way to contact Maddie or Athena?" Steve replied unsurely.
"Okay, then," Danny replied and started typing on the table's screen.
He looked for Maddie Buckley in the interstate files and found out she worked at the 9-1-1 Emergency Call Center in LA, next to some other information like her contact number.
Danny passed her phone number to Steve, who entered his office to call her.
"Danny?" Tani was the first to say a word. "Can you tell us what's going on? Who is this guy?"
"Well..." Danny started.
Then he proceeded to tell them all he knew about Buck, which was that Steve met him years ago after the kid enrolled for the Navy SEALs and convinced him of dropping off because Buck hated to 'turn that emotional switch off', and how both stayed in contact throughout the years.
Everyone understood the situation. They even tried to joke at how easily Steve 'adopted' people, just to lighten the heavy, tense climate in the room.
Eventually, Steve got Buck's number from Maddie and found out about how he had survived the natural disaster, and his almost endless search for Christopher.
It was almost a month since the last event, and Steve had barely spoken with the fireman. He had a good excuse though. It seemed like May was the unspoken month for all kinds of murderers, robbers, kidnappers, terrorists, and even the Yakuza to come out of their caves and try to finish them.
It was one case after the other, sometimes they even accumulated, so Steve had to separate the group in halves, this way they could cover two cases at a time.
That was when the feeling started.
At first, he thought it was just stress from all the cases, but after May ended and the pile of unsolved cases started reaching an end, the feeling was still there. He tried to take some days off without connecting with the world, but it just got worse.
Finally, he spoke to Danny about this, and both reviewed Steve's life for the last months, to see if something was missing. Suddenly, Danny had an idea.
"Have you talked to Buck lately?"
And the pieces almost clicked in his mind.
"No. I think... You just discovered it Danno!" Steve said as he patted his grinning partner on the back.
Then he looked for Buck's contact and called. And... He didn't answer.
Steve decided to shrug it off and convince himself that Buck was in a long shift. So instead he texted him.
"Hey, Buck! I'm sorry I haven't talked to you, May was a crazy month
"I think something is wrong, Danny," Steve said to the detective after the man asked him about his recent anxious attitude.
"With what?"
"Buck," Steve replied, shifting on the couch.
"You still have the feeling, don't you?" Danny inquired, looking at Steve by his side.
The man sighed, rubbing his face with one hand.
"Yeah, I do. But I don't know what to do with it. It's driving me crazy, Danno."
Danny moved from the comfortable space he had on Steve's side to get the remote. He stopped the movie and shifted his body so he could face his best friend.
"Thanks, my arm was already falling asleep," Steve joked.
Danny rolled his eyes and his partner chuckled.
"Okay, serious talk now. I think I know why you have the feeling."
"Illuminate me, Doctor."
"Sometimes when Grace or Charlie is in danger, or not feeling well, I get that feeling too."
Steve leaned his head as his brows frowned, expecting an explanation.
"Like I know something is wrong and I need to talk to them, to know that they are safe and sound. And I know that you feel it with my children too."
Danny paused a moment to let his words make sense before speaking again, "It's like a fatherly feeling. You, my friend, care about Buck as you do about my children."
It made some sense in Steve's mind, but he still questioned it.
"So you are telling me that I care for Evan Buckley like he was my son?"
"Exactly. And let me guide you in this new parenting thing." Danny added. "Most of the time you are right and something happened. The last time I had his feeling, Charlie was being bullied in school by that Zach or whatever his name was."
Some seconds passed while Steve processed the information.
He had made a promise to Buck, and he always kept them.
"When is the next flight to Los Angeles?"
