Hey, can you write a story about Evan Buckley and Reader announcing that she’s pregnant to the 118 at like a family gathering :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🍄 Pairing: Evan Buckley x Reader
🍄 Genre: Fluff
🍄 Summary: At a 118 family gathering, Buck's overprotective nature reveals a little more than the two of you had planned.
🍄 Word Count: 1618
🍄 Abbreviations: N/A
🍄 Warnings: Pregnancy, implied pregnancy complications
🍄 Note: I really liked this request Anon! I hope this is what you were looking for. I thought about this scenario and I instantly imagined Buck accidentally announcing the pregnancy rather than planned. If you would rather a planned version, just pop in another request. A similar request came from @quinnstan247. Enjoy :)

You could feel the eyes following you closely as you slipped into the kitchen to refill your glass of orange cordial. Your overprotective, puppy-dog boyfriend remained outside in the garden of the Nash household along with the rest of the team as they stood around Bobby and the BBQ grill. You knew that Buck was searching for any reason he could to follow you inside, but you met his gaze through the windows and offered him a reassuring smile that seemed to subdue him for the minute.
Since the second you found out, Buck had been glued to your side. It had been three weeks since you took that test, since your doctor had confirmed it and in that time you had, had to convince him every single day that he could leave you and go to work. Every day he fought you, wanting the both of you to stay home so you could rest and he could wait on your every want and need, but you couldn’t do that. You were only thirteen weeks along and there was hardly any reason to be confined to the bed just yet. You knew that he was only concerned about the safety of you and the peach you currently carried in your womb. It was endearing and one of the sweetest things you’d ever seen, you hadn’t thought that Buck could get any sweeter, but here you were one act away from having a mouth full of cavities.
What hadn’t helped was that Buck had been responding to a number of pregnancy calls in the past few weeks a few resulting in sadder endings than anyone wanted. They had definitely struck a chord with Buck and had only made him hover all the more.
Adding the water to your cordial, you took a sip of the orange, a light buzz filling your taste-buds. You had become obsessed with anything orange flavoured since your pregnancy diagnosis. Whether it was orange skittles (which Buck had kindly sat and sorted out for you), or orange flavoured chocolate, or even the orange flavoured cupcakes you had found at the grocery store and ate within an hour of buying, anything orange and you were all for it.
Walking back into the garden, your entire body seemed to clench a little as you stepped back into the gaze of the sun. As much as you were enjoying this down time with the 118, it was so hot. The heatwave had only hit LA in the past few days but already it was in full swing and you were feeling every beam of it.
“Y/n,” you turned over to where Athena was sat with Hen and her daughter May. The three of them were stood around the mini bar that Athena had installed, in direct sunlight. Already hot, you fought down the urge to grimace as you moved to stand by them, the sun glaring on your skin. “We were just telling May about Buck and that kiddie ride at the mall. She doesn’t believe us.” Hen informed and a grin split across your lips, taking your mind off of the sweltering heat.
“Oh my, God. I have a photo, hang on,” You pulled your phone out of your shoulder bag and set your drink on the bar, thumb flicking through the many photos in your gallery in search of the one from the Saturday before. “He thought it was funny and I tried to tell him he wouldn’t fit but he insisted,” You giggled and turned your phone for May to see. “I honestly thought I’d have to call nine-one-one.”
Displayed across your screen was the photo that still had you giggling a week later. There sat Buck, who had squeezed his way into the small metal bus which was obviously aimed for children 7 and under. But Buck had twisted his body at all kinds of angles and had somehow managed to worm his way into the ride. His head was poked out of the door hole, his legs curled up against his chest, unable to stretch out in the tiny space that his body was occupying.
What Athena and the others didn’t know was that Buck wouldn’t have gotten into the ride if it wasn’t for you. That morning your hormones had been playing you like a fiddle and every little thing had upset you, the bin bag had broken when you were trying to change it out for a new one, somehow a red sock had slipped in with your whites and now everything you owned was slightly toned pink and they had shown that advert with the puppy sat in a box, in the rain, on the side of the street with people walking past ignoring it. It seemed, that morning, that everything was stacked against you. Buck had offered to come with you to the mall so you could pick up your clothing order from a store, you had ordered certain items that they didn’t have in stock and they had delivered into the store the day before. You were buzzing to see the new pair of pumps you had ordered. You knew that in a few months if not weeks, the shoes would probably be pressing against the sides of your feet and ankles because of the pregnancy swelling, but that hadn’t stopped you from ordering them in your size. However, like everything else that morning, even that didn’t go as planned. The shoes had been delivered in the wrong colour and in a size smaller than you wanted, making them impossible to wear. Buck had seen how disheartened you had been when you left the store, trying not to cry in frustration. He had wanted to do something to cheer you up and in a joking manner he had made a bet with you that he could fit inside the kiddie bus ride.
It had definitely succeeded in cheering you up, if not from how silly he looked, his large muscular frame curled up inside the ride, from when he got stuck and couldn’t get himself out straight away. You had done what you could to help him out, but you were giggling so hard your entire body went weak. When he had finally gotten out, the two of you had continued to giggle all the way home and your mood had been lifted for the rest of the day.
“Oh, my God,” May giggled. “That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Please send me that!” she begged.
“Of course,” you agreed with a laugh of your own. “I could never gate keep on a photo like this.”
“What made him get in there?”
“It’s Buck, does he need a reason?” Hen scoffed. As the ladies continued to giggle, the heat seemed to make it’s presence known as it glared down onto you. The side of your temples was beginning to throb and your skin was starting to get slick and sticky, sweat oozing from your pores. You raised a hand to swipe at your brow, glancing around the garden for the closest seat, your legs aching.
As you moved towards one of the sun loungers, your boyfriend’s eyes caught onto your movements, already on high alert.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?” he asked, abandoning his drink at the grill and rushing towards you, one arm slipping around your waist to help guide you to the seat.
“Buck, I’m-”
“Dammit, it’s too hot out here for you. We should’ve cancelled,” he began muttering to himself. “Are you dizzy? Do you need a drink of water? What about something to eat? Is your blood sugar low? What if you’re dehydrated?” The only thing making you dizzy was the hurricane of questions Buck was sending your way, not even leaving a chance for you to answer them. One of his hands instinctively came to rest on the front of your stomach.
“Babe? Baby?” You tried to pull Buck out of his panicked rant, his eyes not once meeting yours as he kept scanning you for any visible injuries. Not that there were any, but the paranoia was getting the best of him and the heat probably wasn’t helping.
“We should get you in the shade,” he decided. “Shit, you should’ve stayed inside. You’re carrying precious cargo now, baby. You and peach can’t take this heat. We shouldn’t have come. This is all my fault-”
“Buck!” You pressed your hands to the sides of his face, directing his eyes to yours so you could try and ground him. “Buck, baby, I’m fine. We’re fine. I’m just a little hot and tired that’s all. It’s normal.” He still seemed a little uncertain, and his eyes held a lifetime of worry for you and his unborn child. “We’re okay. I promise.” You offered him a reassuring smile, your thumb coming to brush against his bottom lip rhythmically, giving him something to focus on. His eyelids pressed shut as he breathed slowly for a second.
“Are you sure? ‘Cause we can go home-”
“We’re fine. I just need to sit for a minute that’s all.” You peeked over his shoulder. “While I’m sitting, we should probably talk to the people behind you, they seem a little shocked. You kind of let the cat out of the bag.” Buck twisted his head to look around at the team behind him, everyone stood, jaws dropped and eyes wide. Eddie was the most comical of the bunch, his glass halfway raised to his mouth ready to take a sip but frozen in time with the news that Buck had unintentionally shared.
“H-Hey, guys,” He chuckled awkwardly with a sheepish grin. “I guess we have some news to share.”

AN: Hey guys this is my first reader insert for Eddie Diaz. Please enjoy!
Any mistakes are my own
Italics = texts and flashback
The day Eddie Diaz walked into 118 house Y/N knew there was something about him. Aside from his good looks, he had this presence about him that made her feel like she could immediately trust him. It had taken her a while to fully trust her other team mates but some how with him its different. The two of you had become fast friends and spent a lot of your free time together with Christopher and sometimes Buck.
One day things just suddenly changed. There had been a school shooting and somehow the LAPD had not been aware that there were two offenders. Once Athena and her team had the first offender in custody the 118 had been given the all clear to enter the building and help the victims. Y/N and Hen made their way in first. School shootings had always been hard for Y/N, no one but Bobby knew the reason for it but the team had always noticed. Y/N lead the way towards one of the classrooms where she heard crying. “Fire Department, we’re here to help,” she called out. She saw a young man look out the glass before slowly opening the door. “Are you hurt?”
“No but my friend is,” the young man pointed towards another boy who was surrounded by several other students. Y/N made her way over to him. He had taken a bullet to his stomach and had lost a lot of blood. She noticed that the other kids were scared which wasn’t unusual given the trauma they had just been through but none of them tried to leave.  Y/N looked towards Hen who she saw had also noticed.
“Its okay, we’ve got him. If you’re not hurt you can head outside.”
Several of the kids shook their heads, Y/N knew something was wrong. “Hen, we gonna need a back board. He cant walk out here.” Hen reached for her radio but Y/N stopped her. “Can you get it?” The look Y/N gave her made Hen worry but she got up and nodded. As she headed to the door Y/N said, “Tell Cap, it’s Cressway.” Hen looked at her questioningly but Y/N shook her head, “Go, I really need the back board.”
Once Hen was gone Y/N turned her attention to the boy on the ground. It didn’t look good and she really didn’t think he was going to make it, but she had to try. “Ok I’m gonna need some help.” She turned to a young blond girl. “What’s your name?”
“Hayley,” she replied softly.
“Okay Hayley I need you to keep pressure on...”
“Jeremy.”
Y/N smiled lightly, “Jeremy’s wound. Press down really hard ok. Can you do that?” Hayley nodded. “Good.” Y/n leaned down to take a better look and soften her voice, “Who?”
Hayley looked at her before moving her eyes over to the young man who had opened the door. He was pacing now and seemed very agitated. “Okay, we’re gonna get out of here.”

Something didn’t feel right and Hen rushed to get the back board. She needed to speak to speak to Bobby but something told her not to do it over the air. She spotted Athena and rushed over. “Have you seen Bobby?”
“He went in after you guys, said something about the library. What’s up?”
“Somethings wrong.”
“Wrong how?”
“Hen,” they turned around as her captain and Eddie came out helping a young wounded girl who was bleeding from her leg. She rushed over.
“Cap, somethings wrong.”
“What is it?”
“Y/N said to mention Cressway.”
“Cressway? What does that mean?” Eddie asked.
Hen was about to say something when she noticed the look on her Captains face, “Where is she?” he asked.
“Inside. Cap what is it?”
“There’s a second shooter.”
“Are you sure?” Athena asked her husband.
“Yes.”
Athena grabbed her radio and called it in just as a gun shot went off.

Her ears were ringing, the gun had gone off right next to her ear but she had managed to take down the shooter. She looked up at the scared kids in front of her and told them to leave, “Its safe now.”
They didn’t need to be told twice and raced for the door. Y/n sat down and leaned against the wall, “I really hate school shootings.” She reached for her radio, “All clear, suspect is down.”
Two seconds later Eddie was in front of her, running his hands over her body checking for any injuries. “Hey Diaz, if you wanted to cop a feel all you had to do was ask,” she joked.
“Not funny Hartley.” He got up and reached out his hand before pulling her up alongside him.
“Are you mad at me Eddie?” she asked at the tone of his voice.
“What were you thinking? You could have been killed.”
She put her hands on her hips and glared at him, “I was doing my job. PD gave us the clear. Last I checked I’m a firefighter.”
“You are not a cop. You should have like them handle the guy. When you thought something was up you call in.”
She shook her head, “I’m not arguing with you. I did what I had to diffuse the situation and help those kids.”
“That wasn’t your call.”
“Excuse me? I’m head paramedic.”
That’s enough!” Bobby step in. “Y/n I want you to go get checked out. Diaz go help Buck and the others to search.”
“But Cap,” she began.
“Don’t wanna hear it. That’s an order.”
With one final glare at Eddie, she shook her head and went to follow her boss’ instructions.

Pulling back into headquarters Y/n was still fuming at the way her friend and co worker had spoken to her, like she was some sort of child. As soon as the engine came to a stop she hop out and headed straight for the showers. Sitting down on the bench she took a deep breath and allowed herself a chance to process everything.
“Y/n?”
She looked up, “Hi Cap.”
“Wanna talk about it?”
She shook her head, “ Not really.”
He nodded in understanding but still made his way over and sat down next to her. “I know that this was hard for you.”
“Its the job. I’ve handled school shootings before.”
“Not like this one, not since Cressway.”
“I really don’t wanna talk about it.”
“I know. But regardless I want you to take the day.”
“Are you benching me?”
“No, I’m telling you to take the day and do something relaxing. Something that will take your mind off what I know your thinking off. Maybe Luke is around.”
She smiled at the thought of her boyfriend. She nodded, maybe Cap was right. It had been a long day. “Ok.”
He got up and placed a hand on her shoulder. “You did good.”
“ Thanks Cap.”

“Eddie?”
The young man looked up from his plate and gave his boss a questioning look. “Yeah?”
Bobby sat down, “What was that about back at the school?”
Eddie knew what he was talking about. To be honest he didn’t even know what had come over him. When he had heard that gun shot go off, it had scared the hell out of him. He couldn’t lose Y/N. She was his best friend. “I don’t know Bobby. When I heard that gun shot, I panicked. I don’t even want to think about losing her.”
“DO you have feelings for her?”
Eddie shook his head frantically, “No way....I mean yeah she’s my best friend.”
“Bobby nodded, “We all care about her Eddie, but we trust each other here. We just each other to do our jobs and that’s what she did.”
“How did you know Cap? About the second shooter?”
“Not my story to tell.” Bobby got up. “Just trust her.”
“Luke, you home?” Yn called out into his apartment as she walked in.
“Hey babe. You’re home early.” the Australian man who had stolen her heart 5 years ago smiled as he walked into the kitchen. He was a lawyer who worked from home and the two had met at the courthouse one afternoon during a fire.
“Hey,” she sighed as he pulled her into his arms.
“Is everything ok?”
“No,” she mumbles into his shirt.
“What happened?”
“School shooting.”
He pulled her tighter, rubbing her back. “Wanna talk about it?”
She shook her head. “Are you busy or can you distract me?”
“Mmm, that depends on what kind of distraction you want,” he smirked.
“Mind out the gutter. I thought maybe a hike.”
“You know I would do anything for you but I have a zoom meeting in like an HR.”
“Its ok.” She reached up and kissed him. “Thought I’d try my luck.”
“How about dinner? That little French restaurant you love so much.”
“Sounds perfect. I’m gonna go on that hike so long. I’ll see you later.”
“Pick you up at 8. Love you.”
“I love you too.”

That night as he lay in bed Eddie had the worst nightmare and now he just tossed and turned, unable to get the image of Yn out of his head. He knew it had been just a dream and that she was perfectly safe but the thought of her been hurt, haunted him.
“Hey, you awake?” he messaged her.
“Yep. What’s up?”
“Can’t sleep. U?”
“Me neither.”
“You wanna get some coffee? Christopher is at a friends.”
“Sure, or you could come here?”
“I’ll be there now.”
Sitting on her balcony they had foregone the coffee and we’re nursing a few beers. He could tell she wasn’t herself. “What’s wrong?”
“Today was just hard. And you having a go at me didn’t help.”
“I’m sorry. When I heard the gunshot, I got scared.”
“Ok. I guess it hasn’t missed your attention that school shootings are hard for me.”
“I’ve noticed.”
She sighed. “Back in high school it was just a normal day. All of a sudden during lunch Randy Hurst a senior opened fire. A few of us managed to get out of the lunch hall and hid in the library.”
“Why didn’t you ever say anything?”
“I lost my brother that day. Along with 15 others.”
He took her hand in his, “I’m sorry.”
She smiled at him. “The worst part was that there were two shooters. No one knew about the other boy until he pulled out a gun. He was in the library with us. Police responded quickly and some students were able tackle Randy but Aiden was still there. He had been friends with Luke, my brother. He had run with us and just sat there head in his hands. At the time it didn’t seem weird. We were all scared. But when we heard the sirens Aiden started talking to himself, like he was going mad.”
“Maybe he was having second thoughts?” Eddie asked as he brushed his thumb along her hand.
“That’s what he said. He was prepared and ready but something stopped him and when Randy started shooting, Aiden panicked. He ran with us. I still don’t know what happened, why he hesitated then decided
shoot in the library. I never asked him, I was too scared.”
“How did it end?”
“We could hear officers coming towards us. Shouting to let us know so we wouldn’t be afraid so some of us got up and tried to get to the door. But Aiden pulled a gun and shot Alicia Mount. He rushed the door and made us get back.
“Second shooter! I repeat we have a second shooter!”
We could hear officers shooting right outside the door bit no one came in. Alicia just lay on the floor, blood pooling from her back.
“Aiden, what the hell are you doing?” my brother Luke asked, voice shaking.
I have never seen him scared before except when our grandpa was sick and dying.
“Get back!!!” the shooter screamed waving the gun in front of Luke.
I walk forward slowly and take my brother’s hand. “Luke…”
“Stay back Ynn.” Luke looked at me and I looked back pleading with my eyes for him to not do any thing stupid. He got the message and moved away slowly from Aiden, one hand raised in surrender, the other clutching mine tightly. A mere few minutes later a young boy, most likely a junior tries to sneak out but Aiden spots him and raises his gun. Luke took the opportunity to tackle the boy. A single shot rings out. Luke grimaces and I knew he had been hit but he won’t let go of the boy. “Run!”
Most of the group didn’t need to be told twice but I didn’t want to leave my brother.
“Dammit Yn go!!!!”
Tears in my eyes I run for the door and as I round the corner I run into a police officer. He is asking me something but I can’t hear him. We have to help Luke. “My brother he’s….” another shot and it’s only because the officer had grabbed onto me tight that kept me from racing to him.
Several other officers slowly make their way towards the library. A few minutes later one comes back and asks me to come with him. I hesitate but follow him. Luke and Aiden are both laying on the floor. “Who is it?”
I point at Aiden who I can see is still alive. Luke is still. The police roughly pull Aiden up and hand cuff him, mindful of his bleeding arm. I rush to my brother.
“Luke? Luke?” he doesn’t open his eyes. His stomach is covered in blood. “Wake up!”
I feel a gentle hand on my shoulder. It’s a paramedic.
“Please help him!”
He nodded as another man joined him and the police man from earlier pulls me up and leads me outside.
“Luke died on the way to the hospital.”
Eddie pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her. “He sounds like a hero.”
She sniffled before pulling back. “He was. So many more could have died that day.”
They sat there for a while before he remembered something. “What’s Cressway?”
“His last name. Aiden Cressway.”
“Where is he now?”
“Locked away for the rest of his life. After the trial my parents moved us to LA. My grandparents on my mom’s side lived here and they felt we needed a new start. When I became a paramedic and joined the department I didn’t tell anyone but when I joined the 118 we had to respond to a shooting at an elementary school. It was my first one since that day and Cap called me out. That’s when I told him everything. He promised it would stay between us and I’ve managed to handle it.”
“That’s why he looked at you before we got to the school?”
She nodded. “He tries to take care of me.”
“He cares about you. We all do.”
The way he said that made her feel different and the way he was looking at her caused her to blush. She took a breath. “Today was the first time I’ve experienced a unknown second shooter.”
“You did a good job today. I over heard some of the kids talking afterwards. You saved their lives.”
“I just thought about what Luke had done.”
“Promise me though you won’t do that again?”
She looked up at him in annoyance. “Can we not do this again Eddie? I did my job.”
“I know.” He threaded his fingers with hers. “But I can’t lose you.”
She soften her look and brushed her free hand against his cheek. “I’m not going anywhere Eddie. But I can’t not do my job.”
“I suppose,” he got up and walked inside and she could see there was something else.
“Is there something you’re not saying?” she got up and followed him.
“Like what?”
“I don’t know Eddie, you tell me.”
“It’s nothing.”
“No please, share what’s on your mind!”
“I can’t lose you!” he snapped.
“We established that already!” she fired back taking a step closer. “Its our job. We’ve been doing it for years. Why all of a sudden are you acting like this?”
“I’m gonna go.”
“Edmund Diaz! I promise if you walk out that door……”
“What? Huh?” he closing the gap between them. “What are you gonna do Yn?”
He was so close that she could feel his breath against her skin. His eyes piercing into hers. She took a shaky breath and took a step back. “What did I do?”
“You could have been hurt or worse.”
She shook her head and tried to walk away, annoyed with the conversation now. He grabbed her hand and pulled her flush against him, lips crashing against hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Wrapping his hands around her waist he tried to pull her closer, never removing his lips from hers. As his fingers brushed against her exposed skin between her pants and top she gasped. Using it to his advantage he slip his tongue into her mouth. Neither wanted to stop but air was becoming a necessity and when they final broke apart they both had to catch their breath. “I’m in love with you.” He whispered against her lips.
She stepped back, “What?”
He let her step back but refused to let go of her hands. “I’ve been for a while. I only knew for certain when I hard that shot. So many things raced through my mind as I was racing inside. How I might not get to tell you how I feel. How we could be a family, you, me and Christopher. How there is so much I want to do with you and share with you.”
“Eddie?”
“You make my life so much better since you came into it. I always felt like there was this hole, like something was missing and nothing could fix it. Then I met you and you became my best friend. It felt like I had finally found my missing piece.”
“I care about you too, I’ll be honest and say that I do have feelings for you too but I have a boyfriend.”
He nodded sadly, “I know. I just…..I needed you to know.”
“I’m sorry Eddie.”

Over the next few weeks things between Yn and Eddie felt awkward and the team noticed. Buck and Chin had tried talking to Eddie and Hen had tried with Yn but neither of the two wanted to talk about it. Exactly 2 months after that kiss Christopher walked into the kitchen and confronted his father.
“Why doesn’t Yn come over anymore? Did you have a fight?”
“Its complicated buddy.”
“Well just tell her you love her and fix it.” Eddie was surprised that his son knew about his feelings and it showed. “I see the way you look at her. How happy you are when she’s around.”
Eddie sighed. “She knows but it’s too late. She has a boyfriend.”
“Its only too late if you give up. And it looks like you have.” Christopher walked out the room.
An hour later Eddie went to his son’s room to try and explain but when he open the door Christopher wasn’t there. “Chris?” he went through the entire apartment calling out for his son, his panic starting to increase. He grabbed his phone and called Yn.
“Hello?”
“Christopher’s gone.”

She had just sat down, flipping on the TV when her cellphone rang. Eddie.
“Hello?”
“Christopher’s gone.”
“Where was the last you saw him?” she asked jumping up and racing for the door. As she opened it she felt her the panic in her chest subside. She sighed in relief. “He’s here.”
“I’m on my way “
She put down the call and pulled the young boy into a tight hug well as tight as he would allow. “You scared us. Your dad is worried.”
“I’m sorry.”
After making sure Christopher was all ok and getting him some juice she sat down next to him on the sofa.
“Why did you run away?”
He looked down at the glass in his hand. “You and Dad are fighting and I don’t like it. You never come by anymore.”
She felt ashamed. In the last two months Eddie had done his best to avoid her and at first she had tried but eventually gave up. She hadn’t thought about the boy sitting here. “Christopher, I’m so sorry. What ever is going on with your dad and we shouldn’t have let it affect you.”
“Do you love my dad?”
She sighed, “Yes but it’s not that easy.” She added seeing the hopeful look on his face.
“How come? Is it because of Luke?”
“Luke was a factor yes.”
“Why can’t it just be simple? You love dad and he loves you.”
Before she could answer there was a knock at the door. “How many speed limits did you break?” she jokingly asked Eddie as he stood there.
“A few.”
“He’s on the sofa. Don’t be too hard on him.”
Eddie smiled softly at her, knowing just how much she cared for his son.
“Hey bud. You scared me.” He said sitting down next to him.
“I’m sorry dad. I just wanted to see Yn.”
“I know and I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I made a mistake and it affected you.”
“Does this mean that you too won’t be fighting anymore?”
“I hope not,” Eddie replied glancing over at his friend. She nodded in agreement but had a funny look on her face.
“Hey bud,” he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone and handed it to his son. “I’m gonna chat to Yn real quick. Why don’t you watch something?”
“Ok.”
Eddie smiled before getting up and nudge his head towards the balcony. She silently followed him. After stepping outside he closed the sliding door behind him.
“Did you mean that?” she asked.
“What?”
“Kissing me was a mistake?”
“I don’t know, maybe?” he honestly replied.
“Why?”
“Because it broke our friendship.”
“No, that was you deciding to be an ass.”
“I’m an idiot.”
“No arguments here.”
“Yn, it’s hard. Watching you be with someone else.”
“Well maybe if you had talked to me you would know that Luke and I broke up.”
“What?” he asked.
She nodded. “A month ago.”
“What happened?”
“His brother got in an accident and he went home to Sydney. It was supposed to be for a two weeks but he realized how much he missed Australia and his family. Lucky for him his firm has an office over there.”
“So he just left you?”
“He asked me to go with. But I don’t want to leave LA, my family, the 118….you.”
“Me?” he asked moving closer to her. He didn’t want to get his hopes up but he also didn’t want to miss an opportunity.
“Yeah. I wanted to tell you but you weren’t talking to me and I haven’t really told anyone. They just think he is helping his family and will be home soon. And you’re  seeing someone.”
“Marisol and I went on two dates and that was it.”
“Why?”
“Christopher and you. I thought maybe he was just being difficult. Didn’t like the idea of someone taking his mom’s place. But turns out it’s because it wasn’t you.”
She turned to look at the boy inside, she loved him and she was in love with his dad. She had missed them terribly even though she saw Eddie everyday at work. “So where does this leave us?”
“I miss you, and if we are just friends then I’ll make it work. I just need you.”
“And what if I don’t want to be just friends?” she asked closing the gap between them.
He wrapped his arms around her pulling her closer, then I would be the happiest guy alive.”
“No more fighting or running.”
“Just you and me.”
“And Christopher.”
He chuckled, “And Christopher.” He kissed her.
“Oh,” she pulled back slightly. “And no getting mad at each other for doing our jobs.”
“As long as you don’t do anything risky.”
She arched a brow, “Me?”
He nodded.
“It was one time. You on the other hand…..”
She never got to finish her sentence as he swiftly kissed her once more.

Back inside Christopher click on the contact and dialed the number. As soon as it was answered he said with a smile. “Hey Buck it worked.”
If either Eddie or Yn found out Buck had been in on the plan…..he was a died man.

Heat of the Moment - Eddie Diaz x Male Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Eddie has been flirting with you since you joined the 188 and finally takes action
Words: 1.5k
Warnings: heavy make out
Notes: I hope this justice to the anon who requested it
Y/N’s POV
I step into the firehouses’ locker room, the faint scent of aged leather and burnt wood lingering in the air. The camaraderie within the 188 has been welcoming, making my transition into the team seamless. Each member has extended a hand of friendship, but there’s one person who has constantly set my heart racing—Eddie Diaz.
The man is charismatic, there’s no denying that. His infectious smile and friendly demeanour have everyone at ease, but it’s more than that for me. Eddie’s playful banter, the subtle compliments that dance of the edge of flirtation, have me blushing like a teenager. And he knows it, damn it. It starts with those smiles—the kind that makes my heart skip a beat. He catches my eye across the room, a glint of mischief evident in the depths of his gaze, and that’s where it all begins.
Sometimes, as he passes by, his touch is barely perceptible but sends shivers down my spine. A casual hand on my shoulder when he shares a joke, or a gentle brush of his fingers as he hands me something. It’s a touch that lingers just long enough to be noticed but short enough to leave me yearning for more.
In the confined space of the locker room, Eddie takes it up a notch. I’m lacing up my boots, focused on the task at hand, when I feel his presence behind me. His hands find their way to my hips, a casual yet intimate touch as he manoeuvres around me to grab his gear. My breath catches, and I try to convince myself it’s just friendly camaraderie, but the way his fingers linger leaves me questioning.
Words, too, become his weapons of choice. He leans in close when he speaks, his warm breath grazing my ear. The simplest of comments carry a weight that makes my cheeks burn. “You know, Y/N, you really make this fire station a much brighter place,” He says with a grin, and I swear I can feel the heat of his words against my skin. As Eddie’s words hang in the air, I can’t help but feel a surge of wrath that has nothing to do with the uniform. I stand up, intending to respond with something clever or at least coherent, but the moment I rise, I’m acutely aware of his proximity.
Suddenly, he’s there, close enough I can feel the heat radiating from his body. It catches me off guard, and for a moment, I’m frozen in place. Eddie’s chest presses against my back, and the contract sends a jolt through me. My heart races, and I can’t ignore the magnetic pull between us.
“Is that so?” I manage to reply, my voice sounding much steadier than I feel. His closeness is intoxicating, and I can’t deny the effect it has on me.
He chuckles, the sound low and tantalising and I sense his breath against the nape of my neck, “Absolutely. You’re really something special.”
I turn around to face him, and the intensity in his gaze makes my pulse quicken. Before I can full comprehend what’s happening, Eddie takes a step closer, and my back meets the cold metal of the lockers. The sudden change in proximity has my breath catching.
“Eddie, what are you—" I begin, but my words are cut off as he crowds me, his body inching closer until there's hardly any space between us. The locker room seems to shrink, the air thickening with an unspoken tension.
His hand finds the wall beside my head, effectively trapping me. Eddie's eyes flicker with a mixture of playfulness and something deeper, more intense. "Y/N," he murmurs, his voice a low timbre that sends shivers down my spine. His proximity is both exhilarating and unnerving. I can feel the warmth of his body, the subtle brush of his breath against my skin. My senses heighten as his hand rests on the wall, caging me in.
His eyes, intense and magnetic, hold mine captive. There’s a playfulness in them, but it’s underscored by an unmistakable depth that speaks of unexplored desires. As he murmurs my name, the timbre of his voice resonates within me, sending shivers down my spine. It’s a magnetic pull, drawing me closer to the edge of something I never anticipated.
With Eddie’s hand finds mine, it’s a jolt of electricity. His fingers interlace with mine, creating an intimate connection that transcends the playful banter of earlier. The touch is firm yet gentle, as if he’s reassuring me that this is a path we’re walking together. His other hand, warm and possessive, rests on my hip. It’s a point of contact that sets my nerves ablaze. Every move feels deliberate, sending a rush of anticipation through my veins. I can’t help but marvel at the way his body aligns with mine, the proximity igniting a fire within.
In that charged moment, as Eddie's scent wraps around me, I can almost taste the anticipation in the air. The mixture of his subtle cologne and the rugged musk of the fire station creates a sensory overload that heightens every nerve in my body. The world outside this locker room ceases to exist, and all that remains is the awareness of him, close, real, and magnetic.
Shaky breaths betray my internal turmoil, but it’s not fear that courses through me; it’s a potent hunger, an ache that’s been building with every exchanged place and lingering touch. I can’t help but wonder if Eddie feels the same, if the unspoken tension between us is, indeed, shared desire.
As the seconds stretch, I tilt my head up instinctively, seeking something unspoken, something I can’t quite name. Eddie’s lips barely brush mine in a teasing promise before he ducks his head down, closing the distance.
The first touch is electric, a spark that ignites a fire deep within. His lips on mine are soft, a gentle exploration that quickly deepens. It’s a kiss that speaks volumes, transcending the uncharted territory we find ourselves in. The world tilts on its axis as the taste of him floods my senses—warm, inviting and undeniably intoxicating.
Emotionally, it’s a whirlwind. There’s surge of longing, of a connection forged in the unspoken language of desire. My hands, initially uncertain, find their way to his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my fingertips. The kiss is a dance, and my hands navigate the contours of his body, discovering the warmth and strength I’ve only imagined until now.
The kiss deepens, a seamless blend of passion and connection. It’s a dance of two souls finally acknowledging the unspoken yearning that has lingered between us. Eddie’s hands, too, explore the landscape of my back, leaving trails of fire in their wake. The world outside fades into insignificance as we lose ourselves in the shared intensity of the moment. But, just as the crescendo of emotions reached its peak, a sudden intrusion shatters the fragile bubble we’ve created. The locker room’s glass door swings open, and the hasty footsteps of another member echo in the room. Startled, we break apart, breathless and disorientated.
Buck stands frozen in the doorway, eyes widening in surprise. For a moment, the air crackles with an awkward tension as he stumbles over his words, “Uh, sorry, didn’t mean to… I just forgot my…uh, never mind.” He fumbles with his words, and the realisation of what he’s stumbled upon dawns on him.
Buck's awkward retreat leaves a lingering tension in the room, and Eddie and I exchange a silent acknowledgment of the unusual situation we find ourselves in. The locker room, usually a sanctuary of camaraderie, has transformed into a stage for an unintended revelation, and the unspoken tension between Eddie and me is now exposed, hanging palpably in the air. As Buck stumbles out of the doorway, hastily retreating from the unexpected scene, I meet Eddie's gaze. There's a mix of amusement and shared disbelief in his eyes. We're both caught in this strange, suspended moment where the line between friendship and something more has been irrevocably crossed.
Just as we begin to compose ourselves, Eddie glances behind him, his expression shifting. It's then that I notice the rest of the team, peering down from the upstairs balcony. The realisation hits us simultaneously — the glass walls of the locker rooms have turned our private moment into an unintentional public spectacle.
A chorus of surprised gasps and hushed whispers filters down from above. The team, usually a tight-knit family, now observes with a mix of curiosity and amusement. My cheeks flush with embarrassment, and Eddie, ever the composed one, smirks, perhaps trying to diffuse the tension with humour.
In that moment, our private revelation becomes a shared experience with the whole squad, and the locker room, once a haven of shared secrets, is now a glass-walled confessional. As Eddie and I exchange a resigned yet amused look, it's clear that the dynamics within the 118 have just taken an unexpected turn, and there's no going back.

Tomorrow Holds Such Better Days
Fandom: 9-1-1  Word Count: 2,472 Characters: Evan Buckley, Eddie Diaz, Bobby Nash, firefam (mentioned) Warnings: major trigger warning for depression, suicidal thoughts, suicide and overdosing with pills. If you are not in the right mind frame to read this please skip this one. Summary: After your depression worsens, you decide to take things into your own hands and end your life, but will a message to your family be enough to save your life? Tagslist: @firemedicdiaz @winterreader-nowwriter @iamasimpingh0e @dayrin085 @hauntedmilkshakeghost @floralbuckleys @alexxavicry (if you want to be added or taken off the list, please let me know)
Thank you @floralbuckleys @firemedicdiaz and @bucketofbarnes for all of your help, support with writing this <3
If you or anyone else is struggling with thoughts of suicide please reach out to someone you trust or alternatively try these helplines (x) If the link is broken, please let me know. You don't have to suffer alone.
You were no stranger to depression, having struggled with it off and on for a long time. The constant, agonizing feeling of sinking, as if you were watching everyone around you swimming up for air but there was a constant weight dragging you down. You didn’t want to die, but sometimes it just felt that going to sleep and never waking up or an accident on the job taking you out would make it easier.
Life had just gotten to be too much. Truly, sometimes you just thought maybe it wasn’t for you. Maybe you were just one of the unlucky ones that life didn’t work out for. With those constant thoughts plaguing your mind for days, you had finally made up your mind to end your life and made peace with it. If self-preservation had taught you anything, it was that maybe you should be terrified. But no matter how hard you tried, you just couldn’t bring yourself to care.
Usually you would have reached out to someone before it got to this point. You would have phoned Eddie, Buck or Bobby, or even the family you’d gained through them, knowing they’d all been through their own struggles. Any one of them would have dropped what they were doing to help you. But again, no matter how hard you tried to pick up the phone, typing and backspacing messages asking for help, the voice in your head was just too loud and fed you all the usual lies.
‘You’re a burden,’ ‘No one cares.’ ‘Why are you so needy?’ ‘They have their own lives and issues to worry about without adding your burdens to them.’
You didn’t want to put your issues on them anymore, scared of the judgment, the looks and the pity they might give you. Not when they had their own problems and lives to deal with. If you were being truthful to yourself, maybe you didn’t want to tell them because if you did they would stop you and you weren’t sure if that’s what you wanted.
This just felt like the best option; for you, and for them.
You opened your phone, sending a text to Bobby first to let him know you couldn’t make it to work again. It was the second shift in a row that you’d missed, and even now you hated the fact that you were letting the team down. A few moments later, your phone started pinging with a few notifications from your friends.
Hen: ‘I hope you feel better soon <3’
Chim: ‘Feel better, let me or Maddie know if you need anything :)’
Buck: ‘Me and Eddie will swing by to check on you with some soup after shift, do you need anything else? xx’
You cursed yourself for lying to them, once again forcing the attention on yourself. The guilt only added to your decision and with one last text to the group, that was it.
‘Thanks for always having my back guys. Appreciate and love you all.’
You hit the send button, leaving the phone on your coffee table along with a hastily scribbled note explaining your decision and apologizing.
To everyone else, the message you’d sent seemed normal. They’d pocketed their phones and gone about their normal duties, checking inventory and cleaning, but something in Buck just didn’t sit right. He’d read the message over and over, trying to convince himself that everything was okay, but he just couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right.
You’d opened up to Buck about your past a few times, your parents, even your therapy. He thought you’d been doing better but he’d noticed your downturn in mood lately; how quiet you’d been, how your smile didn’t quite reach your eyes, even as you laughed at his and Chim’s jokes.
Buck made his way to Bobby’s office. “Hey Cap, is it alright if me and Eddie swing by y/n’s place?”
Bobby didn’t miss the concern plastering Buck’s face, being able to read him like a book and knowing something wasn’t sitting right with him.
“Whats going on?”
It didn’t take him long to quickly explain his worries, the warning signs, and that he wouldn’t feel okay until he checked on you.
Bobby mentally kicked himself for not putting it together sooner, knowing the warning signs from his own experiences when Hen and Buck had almost had to break his door down for him years before. “Take one of the med kits and keep me updated.”
Buck practically flew out of Bobby’s office, calling Eddie as he ran to grab one of the spare medical kits and monitors from the storage closet.
“I’ll explain on the way, we need to go. Now.”
“Y/N, can you open the door for us?”
Buck pulled out his phone, willing his hands to stop shaking so he could unlock the screen and call your number. Eddie leant in closer to the door as they heard your familiar ringtone. With no answer or signs of movement, Eddie pulled out the spare key you’d given him.
As the pair walked in, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The place was relatively tidy but there was no sign of you being there. Buck called out your name once more, his worry only growing as he was met with silence.
“Buck…” Eddie’s heart felt as if it were in his throat as his eyes landed on your phone sitting on top of a folded piece of paper on the coffee table where you’d left them.
Buck’s feet carried him towards your bedroom before his mind could even fully comprehend the note, not even caring to knock as he swung open the door. His breath caught in his throat as he saw your body lying prone on your bed, the small orange pill bottle lying empty and open on your bedside table.
He couldn’t even hear himself screaming Eddie’s name for help over the pounding in his ears as he ran to the bedside and dropped to his knees. He pressed his fingers into your neck, relief washing over him as he felt your pulse beneath his fingertips. It was slower then he’d have liked, but it was there.
You felt as if you were floating, vaguely aware of voices around you, hands jostling your body and flipping you onto your back; but your body was too heavy to fight back, the pull of the drugs still keeping you asleep. You felt another set of warm fingers press into the side of your neck, but the darkness was safe. Comforting.
It wasn’t until you felt the painful sensation of knuckles rubbing up and down the center of your chest that you became more aware of your surroundings. The pain caused you to let out a groan as you sluggishly came back to your senses.
“That’s it. Open your eyes for me, we’ve got you.”
Even through the haze, you could recognise that voice anywhere. “Ed…?”
The knuckles continued to try and rouse you and you would have given anything to smack him away if your arms weren’t so heavy.
“Yeah. It’s me, I’m here. Buck’s here too. Open your eyes for us.”
When you finally opened your eyes, you were met with the two men hovering over you. It didn’t take long for the memories to come rushing back; the text messages…the note…the pills. You suddenly became aware of the enormity of what you’d just attempted. You’d tried to kill yourself, and without Buck and Eddie there you very nearly could have succeeded. There was no coming back from that and you knew you’d have to explain yourself.
You shot up, crashing into Eddie as you wrapped your arms around him, fisting your hands into his t-shirt as every emotion that had built up over the last few weeks burst out. He wrapped his arms around you in return, holding you as you cried, whispering words of comfort and reassurance.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” you choked out between sobs.
“Shh, it’s alright, you’re okay. We’ve got you,” you heard Buck say as you felt him rub soothing patterns up and down your back.
Eventually the sobs died down, turning to small hiccups and you pulled away. Shame suddenly overwhelmed you, your hands and gaze dropping to your lap, not being able to look at either man.
Eddie reached out slowly, giving you time to back away before he gently squeezed your hands and ducked his head to try and gain your attention. “Y/n?”
You weren’t sure what you were expecting when you looked up at him; Anger? Annoyance? Disgust? But you were only met with his soft and understanding expression.
“I’m really sorry sweetheart. I know this is the last thing you want right now, but with the pills you took I need you to let me or Buck take a look at you. I know that you know what kinds of effects they can have on your body and so I know you know it's important we get a set of vitals on you and see what’s going on with your heart and breathing. Do you think we can get you settled on the couch so we can check you over?”
You looked between him and Buck, being met with twin concerned expressions and nodded, knowing it needed to be done.
“Thank you,” Eddie replied as he gave your hands another squeeze.
The pair moved to either side of you as they helped you swing your legs off the bed and kept you steady as you stood. They stayed still for a moment, letting you gain your balance, before leading you to the couch in the living room.
Once settled, Buck pulled the blanket from the back of the couch, wrapped it around your back and took the seat next to you, offering out his hand. You took it gratefully, needing all the strength you could get to get you through Eddie’s exam.
He began with a few questions. How many pills you took, how you were feeling physically and if you had any symptoms. Thankfully the vitals were quick and after a few more tears, he set the equipment off to the side and took your other hand. “I’m happy your vitals are stable for now. I’d be happier if you got checked out at the hospital, but…”
“No…” your panic began to rise at the thought of hospitals, doctors and nurses.
A squeeze from Eddie’s hand grounded you enough for him to continue, “But,  I understand if you don’t want that,” he added quickly, knowing your previous experiences with hospitals.
“Me and Buck would come with you and we could call it an accidental overdose, no one would need to know the details. It’d just be so we can get you checked medically, but I can’t and am not going to force you.”
“I can’t.”
“Okay, if we’re not going to the hospital then I have a few conditions. I’m going to keep an eye on your vitals until the pills wear off, but if anything changes we will have to call an ambulance. I’m also going to set up some fluids to help flush your system and make you something to eat. How does that sound?”
You were terrified at the thought of more vitals, needles and eating; but you knew the alternative would be a lot worse. You trusted Eddie and Buck with your life, and another glance between the pair had you agreeing to his terms.
Buck was next to speak, offering distraction as Eddie began gathering the supplies he needed to start the IV. “Have you got an appointment with your therapist coming up any time soon?”
“Yeah. I’ve got an appointment the day after tomorrow.”
“That’s good.”
He kept up the conversation, talking about anything that came to mind, Eddie chipping in here and there.
“Almost ready here,” Eddie interrupted, “Where’s best for you to have the IV?”
You held out your preferred arm, turning away to Buck for distraction as he cleaned the area. Before you knew it, Eddie had the fluids up and running. With nothing more to do for the moment, the room fell silent.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Eddie asked, being the first to broach the subject.
You fiddled with the tape on your IV for a minute, not sure whether you wanted to open that can of worms or not. “Not really. I don’t know. I’m a little embarrassed and know it was dumb and I could have come to any of you, but I just couldn’t see a way out for a minute there.”
“It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I’d be surprised to find someone today who hasn’t been affected by poor mental health,” Eddie replied, “and I don’t need to tell you that any of us would have dropped everything to help you.”
The three of you talked more while the fluids ran through. Buck had already updated Bobby who’d promised to come by after shift, asking Eddie and Buck to stay with you as he called in cover for them. Buck made you all something to eat so you wouldn’t feel alone, while Eddie kept an eye on you and got a few more sets of vitals.
True to his word, a few hours later Bobby appeared, taking the seat beside you as he pulled you into his chest and held you close. “I’m sorry I didn’t notice you were struggling sooner,” he whispered only for you to hear.
“Do the others know?”
“No,” Bobby shook his head, “and they don’t have to know, unless you tell them. They just think you’ve got a bad case of the flu.”
“I’m sorry,” you let out after a few moments of silence.
“You don’t have to be. I’ve been there before. After my family died I had a plan and if it weren’t for Buck, Hen and the rest of you…I wouldn’t be here. They got me through and we’ll get you through. It’s what family does.”
You let out a shaky breath, “So. What happens now?”
“That’s up to you. Do you think it would be a good idea to take some time off work?”
“No. Isolating myself just makes things worse. Not having anything to do tends to make me spiral a little.”
The pair of you agreed on a plan. A few days off to recover, continuing with your therapist and checking in with either him, Buck or Eddie if you felt yourself slipping again. Buck offered to let you stay with him, not wanting you to be alone and wanting you where he could keep an eye on you for the night. You knew the road to recovery was only just beginning, but you felt a little lighter with your family by your side.

The topic 'love' was never an easy one for you. You were sure you never even felt what real love felt like, you always ran away from it whenever you felt it would start to get too intimate with possible partners. You weren’t even sure if you ever loved anyone, maybe you had crushes before but not too deep. Sure, you had a few people you texted with before but it wasn’t just it. You never got to the point to go on a proper date with them. The reason why you ran away were your parents. It was always hard for you while you still lived with them. You had to listen to their constant arguments about every tiny bit they weren’t on the same page with their opinions. You spent a lot of time in your room and tried to ignore their voices. You were scared that you could end up the same way with your partner.
That was until you met the infamous Evan 'Buck' Buckley. He immediately stole your heart the first time you saw his smile directed towards you. Buck and you met through your mutual friend, Eddie. You knew Eddie through Shannon. You wouldn’t say you were really close but you were close enough that he invited you to one of the dinners at Athena's house with the whole 118 and her family. That‘s where you also met Buck within everyone else that is important to him.
Buck and you didn’t talk for the first few hours, only sending each other a few glances. Until he approached you with the smile you fell for. He made you laugh and he liked your laugh. The chemistry was there between you. You just wouldn’t have expected to fall for him. The more you got to know him in the following months, the more you fell for him without realizing it.
Once he asked you out on an official date, things worked out well for you. From opening up to him and trusting him with the things that matter to you the most up to having your first kiss with him. You didn’t want to run away anymore, you wanted to stay. To stay with Buck and he felt the same about you. He deeply cared for you even way before you officially started to be in a relationship or officially dated. Buck wanted to make you as happy and comfortable as you‘d ever feel. He fully understood your way of life and why you ran away from love. And he understood how it was to have struggles with your parents, that‘s why you both knew how to comfort each other even more.
You understood each other. Everyone who would see and watch you would immediately notice the love that was lingering between you. You knew each other so well and knew what the other one needed. It felt like you were in sync with each other. The whole 118 admired both of you and once you and Buck announced that you two were together, they supported you both. Secretly they already knew but wanted you to officially say it out loud.
Of course, this relationship came with a few insecurities. You were scared you‘d do things wrong since it was your first relationship and Buck not wanting to make you feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed. But neither of these happened. Buck was excited to be your every first. From your first proper date, first kiss, and everything else. You were strong together. Especially once you moved in with him.
Two years later, the big day was there. Buck wanted to propose to you. Trying to plan it perfectly. He asked Bobby and Athena to help to pick out the perfect ring for you, the price didn’t matter to him. And he knew it wouldn’t matter to you as well, as you‘d even take a sugar ring. You made a few jokes before about it, the first time you did Buck realized he definitely wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. He couldn’t imagine his future without you. You were the love of his life. And he was yours.
The moment he was kneeling in front of you with a box, you knew what would happen. You already knew your answer. You could never say no to Buck. Over the years you were together with Buck, your insecurities and fears of having a relationship like your parents had washed away. You even were ready to marry, as long as it was Buck that would stand at the altar with you.
The whole scenery was perfectly decorated, just like how you liked it. After all, Buck knew you and seeing how you admired everything, made him proud of himself. And happy as well. After he asked you, "Do you want to marry me, my love? And spend the rest of your life with someone like me?" You didn’t answer him and just fell down on your knees to kiss him. He immediately realized what it meant and the biggest smile appeared on his lips. Tears built up in both of your eyes and after he put on the ring on your finger you shared many more kisses and laughter.
"You‘re unbelievable, Buck." You whispered against his lips.
"I love you."
A few weeks later you announced your engagement to the rest of the 118, who of course supported you. After you found out that Bobby and Athena helped Buck to pick out the ring, it meant even more to you and made you more emotional. You knew how much they both meant to Buck and you were so happy that Buck has found his family. Maddie seemed to be the most excited one in the whole group. She always had the fear Buck would never find the perfect match for him until she met you and immediately knew how happy you made him. You got along with her very well and you were already planning to ask her to be your bridesmaid. You just didn’t know when to ask her but there will still be enough time to figure that out.
Telling your parents about the engagement was not the easiest part on the other hand. They were not very fond of Buck himself. Especially your mother. The first time they met him they were distant, your father not that much though. Your father just warned Buck about him leaving and hurting you. Or else it wouldn’t be pretty for Buck. That was everything your father said about it. Your mother on the other hand openly told Buck that she already knew that he would leave her soon anyways as soon as he slept with you. You defended him but it was useless against her. Everything she said had to be right, she would never say anything wrong. Even though her ‚prediction' never came true.
They tried to show their happiness but you knew it was hard for them. You didn’t even want to imagine them at your wedding, especially since they weren’t able to stay in the same room for five minutes without fighting. You weren’t sure if you wanted them to be at your wedding anyways.
————
"Babe, have you already checked the e-mails?" Buck shouted from the kitchen table.
He was currently on his laptop while you were getting ready for dinner at Eddie's house. You haven’t seen him and Chris for a few days now and Buck already told you how Eddie would tell him the whole time about how much Chris misses you.
"I haven’t. Is there anything in for me?" You fixed the clothes you were wearing and came down the stairs. You both shared your mail app on the laptop.
Buck looked up and admired you. You were breathtaking.
"Don‘t stare," you chuckled and slightly swatted his arm while passing him to get a glass of water.
"I can’t resist, darling. You‘re too beautiful you know that," he smiled and looked back at his laptop. "There‘s just this one here for you."
You got over to him and leaned against his side to look at the e-Mail. While you were reading it Buck started to play with your fingers. It was an invitation from one of your old classmates in college, people you didn’t really want to meet again in your life. It was not like you disliked them but you were at a whole different point in your life than you used to be in college.
"Just delete it," you told him while he still played with your fingers.
He looked up to you but your eyes were glued on the screen. "You sure?"
You sighed. "I don’t know if I want that, Buck."
Buck pulled you into his lap and you leaned your head against his shoulder. "It’s okay. You don’t have to if you don’t want to, you know that?" He tried to reassure you. You just nodded your head and didn’t say more.
At the same very evening, you told him you‘d decided to go to this party with your old classmates. He asked you if he should come with you but you told him he didn’t have to. Buck wasn’t feeling good about that, he was worried. He saw how unsure you were about going to this party earlier that day. He didn’t say anything more but he knew he would go with you anyways. He didn’t want to let you go there alone.
Two days later he was standing in the hallway, waiting for you. He hasn’t told you yet that he was going with you but you already assumed it would lead to it. And you didn’t mind, instead, you were happy that he didn’t listen to you this time. He smiled at you when you came down the stairs, looking beautiful like always.
"What are you doing?" You asked him after you took his hand, which he had extended to you.
He smiled at you. "I‘m going with you to that college party."
You smiled back at him and kissed his cheek. "I love you so much."
He held your hand the entire time while you walked down to his jeep. The car drive was quiet but nothing you or Buck had to be worried about. Once you got into the location you were greeted by two of your old roommates that were already a bit tipsy from the alcohol. They offered you and Buck a glass but you both declined. You were not in the exact mood to drink and Buck had to drive.
Both girls were already swooning over Buck and asked you many questions about him. Who he was, how you met and if you‘re together. Once they discovered the ring you were wearing, they hugged you happily. And maybe they let out a few screams. You laughed at their reactions. Buck in the meanwhile was watching you from a few feet away. It already has been two hours since you two were there and he was happy to see you feeling more comfortable than you used to be in the beginning.
A guy came up to him, smelling like alcohol but only because someone else threw a glass on him on accident. "How di’ you do it mate?"
"What do you mean?" Buck was confused.
The guy nodded in your direction, in that exact moment you were talking to the two girls from earlier. "Them. How did you get them out of their zone? D‘you have superpowers or somethin‘." He laughed but Buck didn’t know what he meant.
The guy noticed the confused look on Buck's face and sighed. "The whole time in college I tried to gain the attention of Y/N but nothing. Nothing ever happened. I mean… Look at them. They‘re fuckin‘ hot as ever and all the things you‘re able to do with them. Things no one ever had the chance to do in college, man. Even the others had no chance. The guys call you the superhero, bro. You‘re a legend for having them in your bed."
Buck slowly nodded his head and looked back at you. He now questioned why you chose him if you apparently could have anyone. Sure, he knew your whole story but how did he get to be the lucky one and get to experience the love you had within you? But on the other hand, the words of this disgusting guy next to him made him stiffen his body and Buck got angry about how this guy talked about you.
"Kind of disappointing that I‘m not the lucky one and chose you instead though. They‘re probably so good in bed, huh? Wish I could have the chance to experience tha-" The guy mentioned and immediately held up his hands after Buck quickly looked at him, not pleased, "Hey come on, man! I was just joking." He didn’t even finish his first sentence.
Buck knew it wasn’t just some sort of joke but he didn’t want to cause any drama and let this guy go back to his friends. Now it was Buck who didn’t feel very comfortable, knowing he probably has the attention of all the guys that were standing a few meters away from him.
A few moments later you approached him with a big smile but that quickly vanished once you noticed his stiffness and stern look on his face.
"Babe, is something wrong?" You carefully caressed his cheek and looked at him. You were worried.
"Don’t worry about me, enjoy your time, love."
You shook your head. "I wanted to go home anyways but what happened? Did someone say something to you?"
His eyes wandered to some of the guys that were standing at the bar and you knew who they were and sighed. You took his hand and were ready to leave.
"Ignore them. They’re assholes. In college, they wanted to get in bed with everyone including me. But I never gave them any attention and they despised that," you mentioned.
"Hey Y/N!" One of the guys called over and waved at you. Which caused you to roll your eyes.
Even after all these years, they were still behaving like children. They never grow up and you don’t want to know how many people they tried to hook up with.
"One of them still wants you."
You quickly looked over to the guys that were still kind of looking over to you and Buck. "Let me guess.. A bit taller than you? Brown eyes and a buzz cut that looks weird on him?" You looked back to your boyfriend and disgust was written in your face.
Buck nodded his head. "Yeah. He told me about the fantasies he has about you." He looked angrily to him.
"That‘s Connor. The biggest jerk I‘ve ever met," you took his hand, "Let‘s get out of here. I can’t fucking stand them. They’re still as horrible as they used to be." You walked out with him.
You still held his hand while you were walking over the Bucks jeep. "Back in college they always tried to get me in bed, after a while they started to place bets on who would be the first one to win me over," you sighed, "Especially Connor."
Buck sighed and nodded his head and went in to hug you after you got to his jeep. You immediately hugged him back and kissed his cheek. Both of his arms were strongly around you, signaling he really needs this hug in that moment. After a few moments, he let go of you.
"Let‘s get away from here." You both said at the same time and ended up chuckling.
You both got into Bucks jeep and immediately drove home. Back home you both changed into your pajamas and got into your bed. You both didn’t talk about the encounter again but it didn’t leave Buck's mind at all. Even after you already fell asleep, he was still wide awake. Connor's words didn’t leave his thoughts. Buck was thinking about why you chose him. Out of all the people that live on earth, why him? How was he the luckiest person to have you?
It was already 3 am and Buck was still wide awake, staring at the ceiling. He didn’t even realize it started thundering. He only did when you cuddled into his arms - you always did that while thunderstorms because you felt the safest in his arms.
"Buck…?" You mumbled, still sleepy, "Why are you awake?" You yawned.
He kissed the side of your head while you snuggled into him even more. "I‘m fine don’t worry about me. Go back to sleep, babe." He whispered, hoping you‘d fall asleep again.
"Something is on your mind. I can tell," you noticed the sternness in his voice even when you were sleepy. That only awakened you more.
He sighed and put his arms around you. "I‘m just thinking about some unnecessary things."
"Nothing is unnecessary. Tell me what‘s on your mind. Is it still from the party?"
Buck shook his head, "Not really. I just.." He hesitated, "Wanted to ask you something."
You turned around to turn on the lamp on your nightstand, "What is it?" You looked at him, the light wasn’t very bright but you still were able to see his thoughtful face.
"Why me?"
You raised your eyebrows. "What do you mean, Buck?"
He looked into your eyes. "Why did you choose me? Out of all the people, why me? Am I that special?" Buck was feeling insecure.
You snuggled up to him again and kissed his arm. "Because it was my heart that chose you above everyone else." You intertwined your fingers.
"I love you, Buck. I fell in love with the person you are. The first time we met at Athena's place and the very moment you looked over to me with your wonderful smile I just knew I had to get to know you," You smiled at him which he returned, "I guess I just knew you would mean a lot to me and you absolutely do. I‘ve never felt so comfortable and seen like I do with you. Getting to know you and slowly building a friendship and not realizing that I was falling for you created the relationship we have today and will have in the future. I couldn’t be happier. You understood me, no one ever did that before and you were always there for me, Buck. My heart is completely filled with you and will always be yours. I don’t care about what anyone else ever said about you or will say, you‘ll always have my heart in your hands."
Buck had tears in his eyes and pulled you to him to kiss you deeply. You kissed him back and smiled against his lips. His hands were on your cheeks and he kissed you multiple times.
"You‘re perfect, did I ever tell you that?" He looked into your eyes again, his hands were still on your cheeks.
You pretended to think about it but smirked. "Hmm… Only a few times?"
He chuckled and kissed you again. You both got back into a comfortable position and snuggled against each other.
"I just noticed that I never thanked Eddie for basically dragging me to the dinner at Athena’s place." You whispered after a few minutes and chuckled, "We should do that. Without him, I probably would have never met the love of my life."
Buck chuckled and kissed the side of your head. "We definitely should thank him. Guess he‘s the best accidental matchmaker to exist."
You giggled and instead of sleeping Buck and you ended up talking a bit more until you happily fell asleep in each other’s arms.
He truly was your safe place and you were his. It were you and him against the world.

Authors note: Unfortunately, I didn't know if you wanted Athena and the reader to possibly be together because you didn't describe it further, so I just went with the idea of the two being together. I hope it's okay ♥

You stood nervously in the middle of a secluded examination room, your expression focused as you quickly put on the disposable gloves and prepared yourself for the task at hand. You were assigned an aggressive patient, tormented by pain and under the possible influence of drugs. His gaze is wide open between the gathering of nurses who are trying to hold him down on the stretcher, his pupils dilated and his movements uncontrolled while gesticulating wildly. The man seemed out of control and full of anger, sending a shiver of fear down your spine.
Various utensils were scattered on the floor, and the medical ultrasound machine lay overturned on the floor and yet you approached the patient with calm determination but caution, trying not to be intimidated by his aggression. A tense atmosphere filled the room as you struggled to take the necessary medical measures.
Drawing up a syringe with your shaky hands and keeping it ready to calm the patient down, you knew you had to proceed with caution to avoid escalating the situation as the man uttered unintelligible profanities and tries to break away. In a state of delirious rage, he vehemently resisted the touch and in a sudden rush of aggression, he reached for you and hit you with a powerful punch in the stomach. "Go away! Leave me alone!"
You stumbled back, feeling the sharp pain in your side, but despite the shock and injury, you remained calm and focused. With practiced hands you continued to try to treat the patient, still holding the syringe in your fist, while at the same time he tried to protect himself. "Please calm down, Mr. Johnson. We just want to help you." Another push from him made you fall violently into one of the standing cabinets, the needle of the syringe piercing your thigh.
“Damn,” you groaned, looking down. Luckily the sedative had not come loose due to the impact and was still completely in the syringe, so you had nothing to worry about. However, the relentless beeping of the machines near you worried you.  With a short scream, you quickly pulled the needle from your leg and threw the used syringe into the sink before standing up and looking at your colleagues. "Get the police in here. They should put the guy in chains, it is too dangerous for us.“
One of the male nurses nodded at you and let go of the guy on the lounger. He quickly ran out of the room and let the other sisters fight the man with all their might. Without further ado, he came back with two officers and surprisingly, you looked into the face of your girlfriend and her long-time partner, Officer Rodriquez. „Doctor, how can we support you?“ she asked professionally with a smile on her lips, and you breathed a sigh of relief as you pointed at the young man. A small grin appeared on your face too at the sight of her. She was wearing her uniform, the taser holster already open just in case while gloves were up to her wrists to intervene safely whenever you needed her. "He is very aggressive. We have to give him an injection, but he fights back with all his might."
It was only when you pushed yourself up from your leaning position and hobbled along to the syringes to put on a new one that she noticed that a blood stain had formed on your thigh; showing through your blue pants. "You are hurt, are you okay?" There was concern in her voice that you could clearly hear. Both Athena and her partner cautiously approached Mr. Johnson, trying to calm him down while you prepared the injection of a sedative. However, Athena's gaze was focused on you, demanding an answer. "I am okay, nothing happened."
The police officer was not really convinced by your answer, but would deal with you later and care for you. Officer Rodriguez spoke soothingly to the man, diverting his attention as he helped the nurses hold him on the gurney while you cautiously approached him behind Athena. With the help of the two police officers, you finally managed to calm him down and give the injection. Slowly, Mr. Johnson relaxed, twitching briefly before his anger subsided and his thrashing became weaker until he finally fell into a more peaceful sleep.
Your people exhale in relief as you continue to keep an eye on the patient, watching his heartbeat slow down. "One of you must remain here with the nurses to provide them with protection should he wake up again," you stated as you freed yourself from the utensils you had been using and successfully threw your gloves into the trash can. Before you left the room, you addressed your employees. "He needs to be monitored around the clock. Call me as soon as anything changes in his condition. Give him fluids, a liter of saline to start with."
The door closed behind you and you walked towards a free room to treat your wound. However, before you had even reached your destination, an arm sneaked around your waist as a kiss was planted on your temple. "Hey, 'thena." You whispered, giggling and leaning against her side. Supportively, she helped you into another room where she ordered you to sit down while you told her what you needed to patch yourself up. "How many times have I told you that once you get an aggressive patient, you do not do anything until you call the cops into the room?"
“Often enough,” you admitted, placing a hand over your furrowed brow before standing up and gently brushing your pants down your thigh. "But the work must be done, even under these extremely difficult circumstances." Her head shook several times as she walked towards you and placed the things you needed on the cupboard. Athena took a seat in the chair in front of you and began cleaning the wound with disinfectant.
You clenched your teeth, let out a painful hiss, and squeezed your eyes shut as the cotton pad dipped in alcohol glided over your skin. "'thena, you know that I am actually the doctor, right?" you muttered under you breath and clawed into the foam with all your strength. "Babe, but you know I do not care, right?"

Prompt -  'So this is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night.’
You felt like you could hardly sit still as you sat at a small table furthest away from the door, trying to get the most amount of privacy for the conversation that was to come. Outside the window snow fell down and you rubbed your hands together, both out of nerves and in an attempt to warm them up.
You had played and replayed how this conversation was going to go a million times over in your head, planned what to say only to scrap each idea as nothing you came up with felt good enough.
The drink you had ordered had been placed on your table only seconds before the bell jingled to announce the door opening and you barely had time to thank the waitress before your mouth went dry. As much as you wanted this conversation, as grateful as you were for it, there was another part of you that wanted to run away.
But you couldn’t run away again, not when you were being given a second chance, even if it was only to have one last conversation before living the rest of your life with regrets over what could've been.
You watched as he scanned the rooms, cheeks red from the cold, before his eyes landed on you. You hated the tension clearly readable even from across the room and how he seemed to have to force his feet to make their way over to you.
“Hi.” He greeted softly, his voice sending an ache through you and you had to force yourself to swallow past the lump in your throat as he sat in the seat across from you.
“Hey,” Your voice was just as soft as his was, if a little more obviously shaky. “Thank you for coming, I’m so glad you made time to see me.”
“Yeah, well, I,” Buck started before he trailed off and shook his head. “It’s good to see you.”
“You too.” You told him with a small smile, meaning it with every part of you. It had only been two or so weeks since you had last seen him but you had missed him more than words could say. “How is everything? How’s the 118, I haven’t seen them since-” You cut yourself off, neither you or Buck needing you to finish that sentence.
“Things are good, work’s busy but I guess it always is more hectic around the holidays.” He smiled and even though it didn’t meet his eyes you were so glad to see it. “Everyone else is good, Christopher misses you.”
“I miss him too.” Breaking up with Buck was bad but it wasn’t just him you had lost, you had lost the friendship you had made with his friends. You didn’t blame any of them for cutting you off, they were his friends first and would always be in his corner before yours but you missed them all so much.
“How’ve you been?” Buck asked and you couldn’t stop the frown that pulled at your lips because truth be told you hadn’t been great but you wouldn’t tell Buck that, not when it was your fault you were having sleepless night after sleepless night, replaying the same scene, the same conversation, over in your head a million times. You spent nights crying when the memories of weekend trips invaded your mind, summer adventures where Buck drove and you sat at his side, watching him laugh as the two of you sung loudly to the radio, remembered the nights tucked against his chest with his arms wrapped around you and feeling safer than you had ever felt in your whole life.
“I’m okay.” Was about as much as you could muster up and Buck glanced away from you for only a moment before his focus was back on you. The lump in your throat was back and you forced it down, as well as the stinging you felt in the back of your eyes.
The small talk was painful to both of you, the reason why you were here hanging heavily in the air but you were still desperately trying to think of the right thing to say. Buck’s guard was so obviously up and for good reason to. You’d hurt him, you knew he had been hurt before, left behind without a second thought and you had done the same to him.
How could you tell him the reason when you didn’t fully understand why you had done it yourself? How could you tell him that you had panicked, that he had been so perfect, so incredible, always thoughtful, always putting you first, how could you tell him that it was so serious that it had scared you.
Part of you knew he would have understood if you had handled it better, if you had sat him down and told him that this was the most serious relationship you’d ever had, that you loved him more than anything and that terrified you. For some reason you hadn’t been able to bring yourself to do that though, to handle it maturely and take a breath, instead you had walked away in a panic only to regret it every day since.
Buck had every reason to keep his distance now, he had every reason not to show up at all but you were glad he had. You loved him so much and if you ever had a second chance with the man you would never take it for granted.
You shifted in your seat, sitting up straighter and wrapped your hands around your mug just for something to do with them. The lump in your throat seemed to be stuck there but you took another breath and forced yourself to address the reason you had asked Buck to come here.
No part of you was expecting him to take you back but you at least owed him an explanation. People were good at leaving Buck without one and after all the goodness and kindness he had treated you with he at least deserved a reason, he deserved to not spend anymore nights blaming himself and wondering what had gone wrong.
“I’m sorry,” you began and watched as Buck sat up straighter too, his eyes wide and sad as he looked at you and you felt your heart ache. “I’m sorry for that night, Buck. I regret it more than I’ve regretted anything.”
“Why?” Was all Buck was able to choke out and seeing the tears in his eyes made yours sting.
“I wish there was a good reason, Buck. I wish I could tell you something that doesn’t sound as pathetic as the truth.” You told him, voice cracking as you spoke and your grip on the mug tightened.
“Just tell me, Y/N/N, I need to know because I have spent every night agonising over what I did wrong.” He forced out, a single tear sliding down his cheek but he made no move to wipe it away. “I thought we were good.”
“We were, Buck. I promise you, if you don’t believe anything else I say believe this, you were perfect. You were so much more that I could ever ask for, so much more than I deserve and it terrified me. It terrified me Buck because I have never felt this way about anyone in my whole life and I didn’t know how to handle it. I didn’t know what to do with the fact that I love you Buck, I love you so much and I’m not saying this to win you back, I know I hurt you and that, that is unforgivable because you were nothing but amazing and you didn’t deserve me walking out on you and for that, Buck, I am so sorry.” By the end of the short speech tears were sliding down both your cheeks and you were glad you had sat at the back in the far corner of the room, grateful for the privacy.
“Y/N,” Buck whispered but couldn’t seem to say anything else and you smiled at him, a smile filled with sadness and regret.
“I’m so, so sorry, Buck.” You repeated shakily, “I said this wasn’t me trying to get you back and I meant that but I have spent every night since that night regretting not just talking to you, every night missing you more than anything. If I could go back and change it, go back and just talk to you, God Buck, I'd do it in a heartbeat and I’d understand you never wanting to see me again, to walk away and be done with me-”
“I love you too, Y/N/N.” Buck told you softly, cutting off whatever you were going to say next and you were glad for the interruption both because you had no idea what you were actually saying, the words just falling out of you, but also because you got to hear Buck tell you he loved you for the first time. “I love you so much and trust me I was scared too, hell Bobby and Eddie can tell you how many nights I kept them up talking about it so I get it, I just wished you’d talked to me before leaving.”
The two of you were sat with tears falling down your cheeks, looking at one another with love, sadness, hope, as well a whole mix of other emotions. Despite not knowing what was going to happen, for the first time since you’d left Buck you felt like you could breathe again, like the weight that had been sitting on your chest for weeks was finally gone and you couldn’t help but smile at Buck.
“I wish I could change how I handled it.” You told him softly and he just smiled back at you, reaching across the table and gently pried your hand off the mug to wrap in his hand, his thumb brushing gently against your knuckles.
“Promise me that next time you’ll just talk to me, Y/N. I can’t handle you walking away again.” Buck told you and your eyebrows knitted together before his words fully registered and your eyes widened.
“Next time? Buck I-”
“You were scared and overwhelmed and didn’t know how to handle it. I told you I get it but we have to talk about these things, I don’t want to lose you.” Buck cut you off and you couldn’t help but smile at his words even as more tears filled your eyes.
“I promise, Buck.” You told him sincerely, still in disbelief that he was so open to fixing things, to not holding your mistake against you.
God, you loved him so much.
“Good because these last few weeks have been hell.” He laughed even as a few more tears slid down his cheeks. “I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed you too, Buck.” You said softly and the two of you just sat there for a moment longer, unable to look away from each other, unable to stop smiling as you did.
You might not have been able to go back in time, back to that first week of December where you had walked out of Buck’s apartment with tears sliding down your cheeks, but somehow you were here now with Buck, Buck who had the biggest heart you knew, Buck who would bend over backwards to help anyone, Buck who had the capacity to forgive no matter how many times he got hurt.
You swore to yourself as you squeezed the hand still holding yours that you would never take him for granted, would never let another day go by you don’t tell him you loved him, would never mess up your second chance with Buck.

I Think It's Time You Marry Me - Evan "Buck" Buckley Imagine (9-1-1)
Tumblr media
Title: I Think It's Time You Marry Me
Pairing: Evan "Buck" Buckley X Reader
Word Count: 1,103 words
Warning(s): mention of disaster/potential injury
Summary: [Inspired by "Marry Me" by Olly Murs] After a disastrous call, (Y/n) finds themself sitting by the phone and the TV with no word from or about Buck. When the man of the hour finally makes it home, he seems surprised about how much (Y/n) had truly worried about him.
Author's Note: Olly Murs released a new album, and this happened.
Also, y'all remember when I called Buck a himbo and seemed to get a chunk of this fandom to agree with me? Those were fun times.
-----------------------
It was easily the longest day of my life.
It had all started so... normal. Maybe that's why the whole day was so mind-boggling. There were no signs of what was going to happen. No sign that anything was going to go horribly wrong.
Buck had woken up before me. He kissed my forehead and mumbled for me to go back to bed before he ran off to get ready for the day.
I sat in my half-awake state, watching him move around the room, quietly thanking whatever entity allowed us to find this little place that could be completely ours. A place where we could both move so naturally.
I curled on my side as he walked back over and kissed me again. He muttered about how he hoped that I had a good day. And then, he left.
I didn't stay in bed for long after that. I got up, made my coffee, and tried to have a relaxing morning. Working from home had some benefits.
I had been clicking away at my keyboard. I had long since forgotten what words I had been writing. The news had been on in the background in the hopes of becoming an interruption to the silence that made me feel gross and sluggish.
And then, the news broke.
It looked like the world was ending. It's so easy for our minds to become apocalyptic when we don't have answers.
My heart dropped. My hands stopped moving and my head snapped over to the TV screen, watching the scene unfold. It almost felt wrong. For my home to be so peaceful and in order while watching everything in the world go wrong around me.
I turned around in my seat, watching the footage with wide eyes.
I jumped for my phone. I knew that if Buck was at the scene, then he wouldn't answer me for a while, but that didn't stop me when I fumbled to dial his number. I left a message for him.
"Hey- Hey, I... I'm watching the news and I know you're busy and I... Just... Just call me or text me or something when you get a chance. I need to know that you're okay. Please. I love you."
Every minute felt like hours. Every hour felt like days. It was terrible and drawn out. I wanted to find a way to run from it all, but I couldn't. I was stuck there in that time. In that period of unknowing and fear.
The news was still on, but it felt like nothing had processed in my mind. Nothing.
I had spent the day pacing. I did laps around the living room and the kitchen. I didn't eat. I tried to drink some water, but I knew it wasn't enough. It was hard to focus on my own needs when there was so much going wrong just outside my door.
I left countless messages. Texts and voicemails for Buck. I felt guilty but it was all just panic and anxiety looking for some kind of answer. I even called Eddie a few times. Nothing.
I checked my phone every few minutes, hoping to see something.
I never did.
It was already dark when I heard the front door open.
I froze where I was, watching as Buck walked back inside. He looked so tired.
He didn't look back at me until the door closed.
It was almost like time suddenly started going back to its normal pace. Like everything returned to how it was supposed to be.
"Buck."
I got over to him as quickly as I could. My arms wrapped around him and my eyes closed, relaxing for the first time in hours. Not fully, but just enough.
I leaned back, my hands moving to the sides of his face. "Are you okay? Are you hurt? I called and left messages and I knew you probably weren't going to have time to answer, but I needed to try. The news was no help. I didn't know what to do. I just- God, are you okay-"
Buck leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. I froze for a moment before slowly kissing him back. My arms fell naturally around his neck as his hands touched my sides.
I pulled away a bit. I looked at him as his forehead rested on mine.
"I should've called you back," he muttered.
"No, no," I replied. "It's okay. I just... God, I'm so happy that you're okay. And you're home and okay. And that's what matters to me."
"I'm still sorry-"
"Stop it," I mumbled. "Please. Don't apologize. You couldn't control what happened today. I'm not upset with you. At all."
He closed his eyes again.
"I just... I love you so much, Buck. So much. I was scared, yes, but I'm not angry or upset. I'm just relieved. Because you're home and you're okay and I'm actually able to say that to you. Just... God, I love you."
He leaned in and kissed me again. I sighed into the kiss, allowing whatever remaining weight there had been to fall away like I was throwing off a jacket.
I leaned back, grinning at him.
His next words seemed to slip out like he couldn't have physically stopped them, "Marry me."
I stared at him with wide eyes after I took a step back. "What?"
"What?"
"Was... Was that a genuine proposal," I asked.
"I... Well... I don't... I didn't mean for that to come out like that," he replied. I couldn't remember the last time I had seen Buck stumble over his words like that. "I mean... I've thought about it. I've been thinking about it for a while now. But I don't have like a ring or anything. We can just ignore this happened-"
"We are definitely not ignoring it."
He froze, just staring at me.
"Do you want to marry me?"
"Yeah," he let out a sigh as he spoke, a smile breaking out on his face.
I leaned in and pecked his lips. "I want to marry you too."
He looked away, seemingly trying to hide his face.
"We should do it," I said. "We both want to. We've both been thinking about it. We should do it."
"You're sure?"
I nodded. "Surer than I've been about anything in a while."
"Okay," he replied. "Let's do it."
I cupped the sides of his face again, running my thumbs along his cheekbones.
"God, I love you," I muttered.
"I love you too," he mumbled back before pulling me into yet another kiss.
And how perfect a kiss it was.

buck perked up at the sound of his phone ringing loudly from the kitchen island. pausing his game before standing and quickly making his way over to where the device sat. and smiling when your name flashed across the screen, “hey, babe... to what do i owe this pleasure?” he questions the second he brings the phone to his ear, smiling falling a few seconds later when he hears you huff, “hey, what’s wrong?”
“my stupid ac unit went out, and my landlord said it was gonna be another four days before he could get someone out here to fix it. four days buck! my apartment is gonna turn into a hot box before it even reaches noon.” you complain softly, already feeling the heat creep up in your apartment. it didn’t help that los angeles was experiencing record highs for the day and then seemingly beating the previous days record with an all new high.
“do you want me to come over and look at it?” buck questions, already looking around for the toolbox he kept around just in case something similar happened in his own apartment, “no... because i’ve already tired and i’m about ninety-five percent sure that it’s an internal piece that needs to be replaced. so, i’m stuck until the repairman sounds up.”
“but you can’t say in a hot apartment... that’ll make you miserable.” buck comments before his brows shoot up in realization, “hey! why don’t you come stay with me for a few days? at least until the repairman shows up and then you can go back to your apartment.” he offers, teeth catches his bottom lip in anticipation as he waits eagerly for your response.
“buck, you are a god send. is it alright if i came over now?” you ask softly, to which he quickly responds with an enthusiastic yes before uttering his goodbyes and hanging up the phone to let you pack.
he quickly shuffles around his apartment, cleaning up his leftover containers from the night before and the pile of laundry that had grown in the corner of his bedroom. getting the place spick and span before you came over.
it’s almost half and hour later when you knock softly at his door. buck quickly greeting you with a soft kiss before he’s pulling the bag from your hands and chuckling when you melt against the cool top of his kitchen counter, “it’s so nice in here...” you mutter, relishing in the cool air as it beats down your back.
“you’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like... you know i never mind when you stay over.” buck states, smiling as you nod. he disappears for a moment, trailing up the steps to his bedroom to drop you bag and pillow onto his mattress before heading back down to the kitchen.
buck got you settled in for the rest of the day, preparing dinner for the two of you and reminiscing in the moment as you ate together. it was rare that the two of you ate together in the sanctity of his apartment, or hell, even your own. schedules never seemed to line up enough to afford the time for either of you to stay the night, leading to a thundering mess of pent up sexual tension that lasted longer than necessary.
so, buck had happily settled into bed alongside of you, pulling you into the safety of his arms before pressing kisses along the exposed side of your face. relishing in the little giggles that left your lips before eventually relenting, and pressing a final goodnight kiss to you lips before closing his eyes.
the routine had played out better than either of you could have hoped. quickly finding a balance and rhythm that made it seem as if the two of you had done this before in the past. as for buck, he had been more energized by just having someone to share his morning with before heading to his shift.
it continued like this until the end of the week, with the two of you either eating out or ordering in due to the overall tiredness you both felt after your respective shifts. however, you took a chance this night to make something. seeing as you didn’t have to go that morning and buck would be due home after his twenty-four.
“what’s all this?” buck questioned from the doorway, brow raised as you came around the island with two plates in hand, “dinner... figured you’d be hungry and i wasn’t up for trying the mystery dishes in your fridge.” you grimace softly before waving him into the apartment.
“how was your shift?” you smile, taking the seat next to him as he goes into detail about everything he got to do that day. although, he had kinda left out a few of the more unsettling parts. not wanting to make you queasy as you finished up your dinner and wine.
“i’ve got to say, this is problem the best meal i’ve had in a while...” buck comments as he quickly takes you plate before you manage to, prompting you back into your seat as you chuckle lightly, “captain nash not feeding you guys anymore?” you tease lightly, knowing the crew at 118 isn’t missing any meals -- especially the one night buck had brought home a container for you to try and you were almost jealous of him.
“you know what i mean...” he huffs, cleaning up the last of the dishes before pulling you towards the living room to watch whatever peaked either of your interests. buck flipped through each channel, until you make a noise of interest and he left it there. settling further into the couch as he pulled you in closer.
“i’m gonna miss this...” you mutter into his side, already dreading having to go back to your apartment in the morning -- your landlord having informed you earlier that morning that maintenance had fixed the issue. “do you have to go? you could stay here with me...” buck offers, pulling you in closer as if you were going to leave in that very moment, “i’ve still got a few more months on my lease.” you answer, playing with the loose strings of his shirt to keep you occupied.
“then, how about after? wait out the rest of your lease, and then move in with me. you can stay forever.” he smiles, knowing he’s already got you convinced just by the way you tuck your face further into his chest to hide your smile.
“you’ve got about five months to figure out how to not leave your socks on the coffee table, then.” you tease, gesturing to the two pairs of socks already settled atop the wood as buck chuckles, “i’m sure i can figure something out for  you...”

Being in a relationship with Maddie and Chimney
Tumblr media
( Reader is female )
We all love Madney
- Being the spouse of a 9-1-1 Dispatcher and a firefighter was like playing with fire in other words
- You guys visit the amusement park every once in a while
- Let's just say after you got off the rollercoaster, your stomach was not happy with you at all
- Yup turns out you got sick
- It was basically a flu that was contagious and could spread if anybody touched you
- You laid in bed with an ice pack on your head and a thermometer and you were curled up in absll trying to get comfortable to get your mind off the sickness but, unfortunately get cold and hot
- Your always trying to get them to stop arguing on whether to cook you spicy soup or poridge
- You always trying to scream at them but, you were starting to lose your voice throughout the days
- So now when you were curled up in the ball with an ice and a thermometer, you were grumpy cause you couldn't speak
- So you had to use sign language or write in a note book
- So in order to test your stamina and durability you wrote on a note saying, " I'm going to go out side and get some spicy wings my self."
- Of course both of them freaked out and thought you were crazy but soon understood your desicion and decided to let you go
- You got dressed with a scarf , hat, sweater, jeans, mask and headed outside
- You came back looking like you got hit down by a truck but managed to get the hot wings
- You took out one spicy wing and ate it then your eyes bloomed with flames and you almost choked but, stayed alive
- You never knew it would all come down to this, all because you threw up at the amusement park
- You suddenly became hot and threw off your hat and scarf
- You went to go and grab cheese and milk but it didn't help
- Both Maddie and Chimney we're upset at you and scolded you.
- But don't worry they still love you very much
- You continued to eat the spicy wings even though it hurt, then slowly your voice came back and you were able to speak
- Maddie and Chimney we're so happy that they wanted to cuddle you so bad but they couldn't cuz of the flu and how it's contagious
- They still give you air hugs

You sat down on your empty kitchen counter , the pain in your arm showing up again, reminding you that you couldn’t move it. A sigh fell from your lips as you heard knocking on your door, walking towards it and looking through to see May. The frown you had suddenly turned into a soft smile while you unlocked the door.
“Y/N!”
“May!” You said back with the same energy, giving her a side hug to prevent putting harmful pressure on your injury.
“How’s your arm holding up?” She asks, pushing past you with 2 grocery bags on her left arm and 1 on her right.
“Woah woah woah…What do you have in those bags?” you say, May gave you was mocking-confusion.
“Remember, you had broken your arm right in front of me, so I’m deciding to help you get better in the process- and don’t say you don’t need help…” she looks around to see the small messes splatter around your apartment, “cause you do..”
“Okay okay,” you laugh, “Maybe I do need some help.” You grab one of the bags with your uninjured arm, glancing inside.
“How is popcorn and my favorite candy gonna help my arm heal?” You say raising an eyebrow.
“By watching your favorite movie! I can’t have you sad AND in pain. I’ll be staying here for a while.” May announces, her head tilting upwards to show her proudness, you just can’t help but giggle.
“But…I don’t want you being here just cause I’m hurt-“
“I’m here because I want to be here Y/N.” She looks at you with a heartwarming smile.
“Thank you…really. You’re already making me feel better.” The both of you laugh before she says something again.
“Of course! Now let’s get you settled in for some movie time.” May heads to the living room, setting down the bags and beginning to search for your favorite movie. You follow after her, feeling a sense of comfort as you settle in on the couch with a cozy blanket.
As the movie starts, you feel your worries fade away and your pain start to dull. May sits down right beside you, snacking on popcorn and laughing at the movie’s jokes. You can’t help but smile, happy that she’s here with you.
After the movie ends, May helps you clean up and settle into bed to sleep. As you close your eyes, you feel a sense of peace wash over you, knowing that you have someone who cares about you and will be there for you when you need it most.

“So you didn’t want to teach the kids the wonders of being a firefighter?” Hen questioned Kasey as they sat at the back of the fire truck, headphones securely on their heads whilst the rest of the team looked between Hen and Kasey.
“Bobby purposely made sure I wasn’t on the rota for that time,” shrugs Kasey.
Eddie furrows his brows. “But aren’t you good with children?”
Bobby begins to chuckle. Hard. Almost out of character laugher. And Kasey would feel offended if she thought he was laughing at the idea of Kasey being good with children. But she knew he wasn’t laughing at that as the entire team knew she was good with youngsters.
If she wasn’t, then why would they usually make her be the firefighter to comfort the frightened kids on scene?
But the reasoning for Bobby’s laughter still made Kasey sink in her seat, pouting like a toddler as she huffed slightly.
Hen gave Kasey a teasing smile as she already knew what Bobby was thinking – it was the reason she asked the question in the first place.
Hen let out a small laugh.
“Last time I was allowed to do that,” Kasey begin, sending a small glare at the older firefighters for finding such humour in this mockery, “I may or may not have accidently sprayed all the children with the hose.”
Eddie and Buck’s eyebrows fly up.
“Excuse me?”
Kasey groans and sinks more in her seat, hands covering her face as she tried to hide the pink tint in her cheeks. “Please don’t make me repeat it.”
“I just don’t understand how someone can accidently–”
“Oh! Look!” Kasey interrupted, sitting up in her seat as she pointed at the neighbourhood that Chimney told the team to head towards. “Fire! We should go and put it out.”
“It’s almost like that’s our job,” Buck rolled his eyes at the sight of his best friend shooting a pointed glare his way.
“Dispatch, this is Captain 118.” Bobby states in his radio. “We’re at Doheny Park. Multiple residential structure fires. Send everything you can.”
“Copy that, 118.” Josh replies. “I’m trying to find additional resources for you, but you might be on your own for the next 15-20 minutes.”
“Copy that.”
“Shit, this is bad.” Commented Kasey as she gazes out her window, teeth digging into her bottom lip whilst her fingers clenched round her helmet that sat in her lap.
A man rushes towards the truck the moment they stopped, the 118 began to climb out to see him waving his arms in desperation and slamming a hand against the windscreen “Help! Help! You got to help!”
“Cap!”
“My son! He’s trapped upstairs!” He pointed towards his house that was burning down fast.
“Do you know where? Which room?”
“No, no, I haven’t seen him.”
Kasey moved to stand next to Eddie as the pair squinted in the direction of the house, searching windows to try and find any movements.
Eddie saw him first.
“Cap. I see him!” He points towards the window where a small boy waving his hands was. “Upstairs window!”
There was a much larger explosion, followed closely behind desperate yells from the man and young woman who tried to run towards the burning house, but was stopped by Kasey and Eddie who didn’t allow them to go any closer.
“Sir! Sir! Two!”
“All right. Get the ladder up to the house.” Bobby instructed Buck who dashed off to follow his instructions.
“I’ll check the driver, Cap!” Hen exclaims.
“My son is up there!” The man yelled in Kasey’s face who kept her hands on his arms, guiding him a bit further away from the burning house as she nodded to show her understanding.
“I know, sir. But if you go in there you will just put both you and your son in even more danger,” Kasey reasoned with him. “Let us do our jobs and we can bring him out safely.”
“You gotta save him!”
“We will. We will.” Eddie says as he looks over at the man who was still fearfully yelling into Kasey’s face whilst she just continued to professionally comfort and guide him away from being in more danger.
He then walks up towards Bobby whilst Kasey tried to handle the two panicked family members who continued to yell at her as if she had all the answers, but Kasey didn’t, all she could tell them was that they will get the son out, that’s all she could say as that was all she knew.
Kasey then scrunched her face up when she heard Eddie alerting Bobby that they didn’t have enough water to put out the fire, and this only made the family panic more as they asked her questions on how can she save the son if they don’t even have enough water?
Kasey wished she was elsewhere, she wished she didn’t have to try to think of barely-there-answers for the family who has just overheard some terrible news, and she knew that repeating herself wasn’t going to convince them that everything was going to be okay.
Buck, noticing his best friend’s silent panicked state, made his way over, gently guiding the family members much further away so they were no longer in the teams way or screaming in Kasey’s face. Strand let out a sigh, squeezing her eyes shut for a few seconds as she tried to calm her fast but yet tired heart rate down.
She believed it was going much faster than it should usually go, and she knew that could be due to the lack of sleep. Her body wasn’t functioning properly. She wasn’t functioning properly. And all she wanted was to go to rest for a bit, let the ground swallow her up and just let her body rest.
But she couldn’t.
She had a panicked family pacing a few meters away from her and a son trapped in the burning house in front of her. She had Eddie and Bobby talking about the water issue a few steps away from her and then she had her anxious self who couldn’t fully assimilate what was going around herself at times.
The only thing she could do was force herself to stay awake and to calm down as she continued her job.
“Strand!” Bobby’s voice yell and Kasey turns to look at her Captain. “Keep everyone back, okay? And help anyone who has any injuries.”
“Copy that,” she nods as she went began to gather a few other firefighters to aid her in her task, completely not noticing the quick look of worry that Bobby sent her way as he noticed the shake in her right hand.
The only time she looked back at the house was when she heard metal grinding, and she saw the ladder collapse and Buck falling, catching himself on the collapsed half of the ladder but it didn’t stop the blood-crawling scream that emitted from his best friend.
“Buck!”
Every ounce of Kasey wanted to run towards Buck and help him, but she couldn’t as she was holding a cloth against the side of a woman’s head to try and ease the bleeding whilst the firefighter next to her prepared a bandage.
Eddie then begins to climb the drainpipe.
“Eddie!”
He ignores his teams calls.
“He’s fucking insane.” Kasey mutters as she raises from the kneeling position she once was in to go and find another person who may need her help, whilst her eyes stayed glued onto Eddie’s climbing figure. “Fucking insane. Who does he think he is? Firefighter Romeo?”
Kasey knew though that Eddie was doing the right thing, well the Kasey thing. If Kasey was able to initiate an idea, it probably would become a similar idea of what Eddie was doing right now.
'I’ve been a bad influence on him,' Kasey thought with a shake of her head before she crouched down to look at a casualties hand.
“I feel like if either Kasey or me did something like that, you would yell at us,” Buck says and Bobby turns his head to look at him, giving him a look that told Buck that his statement was correct.
“Thought your boy was going to become Santa Clause for a moment there,” the man said as he watched the scene in front of him whilst Kasey cleaned up his hand. “But instead he become James Bond and crashed through the window like he does it every Tuesday evening.”
Kasey hums. “He prefers films of romance than action films,” Kasey looks up with a mischievous glimmer in her eyes and with her left index she pressed it against her lips to usher him to be quiet as she threw him a playful wink. “But don’t tell him I told you that.”
“Yeah,” she looks over her shoulder. “Let me know when he comes out the house so I can yell at him for his stupidity,” her eyes shifts down to the ground. “Then I’ll give him his stupid hug.”
“How kind of you.” The man leans his head back against the tree, squeezing his eyes shut when he hears a curse leaving Kasey’s lips as she notices the wound in his leg. He opens them when he hears the comforting sound of her reassuring that it’s nothing bad and that she be able to quickly sort it out.
“I think,” the man smiles, shaking his head to himself before smiling bigger when he notices Kasey looking at him again, “I think the man would much rather a kiss.”
Kasey shook her head, sputtering out words as she quickly tried to deny the everything the man just suggested. “Oh no, no, I got – I’m seeing someone, and he’s got this sleeping arrangement with his wife, who isn’t his wife anymore, but she kinda is and – it’s complicated.”
The man didn’t look too convinced.
“Besides we’re just friends.”
“I always said the same thing about my wife,” the man chuckles, a sincere smile tugging at his lips at the thought of his wife. “It wall bullshit though, but we never said anything till much later on because we were scared. But everyone knew, even us eventually, but you can’t be friends with someone who looks at you as if you’re the reason the world has eight wonders.
Kasey laughs, “there’s only seven wonders of the world.”
“Not when the person you look at is the eighth.” He utters. “For me, my wife is the eighth wonder of the world. For you, it’s that James Bond wannabe, and for him, it’s you. You’re his eighth world wonder.”
“You’re one of them, aren’t you?” Kasey pokes her tongue against the inside of her cheek whilst she finally wraps a bandage around his knee. “One of those people who describes love to a metaphor.”
“You’ve never been in love, have you?”
“It’s not something I understand.”
“You will eventually.” The guy looks towards the house. “But if I was you, I wouldn’t wait for too long. You don’t want your something good to be taken from you. That another reason why it took a while for me to get with my wife.”
“We’re just friends.”
“Okay,” he hums, “but don’t do anything stupid because you’ll regret it.”
Kasey just nods, before standing up as another firefighter took over to guide the man towards the back of their ambulance along with a few other people who awaited for more to show up.
“The smoke of the fire must be getting to his head,” Kasey mutters to herself as she begins to make her way back towards Buck and Bobby to question them on Eddie’s status, but she stumbled back as she watched in horror as another explosion within the house went off.
The guy next to her screamed for his son, whilst Kasey called for her friend.
“Cap!” Kasey rushed over towards Bobby. “Let me go in there – let me help Eddie – I need to help–”
“No, no, no,” Buck gently pushes Kasey to the side, as he makes his way round the fire truck. “You’re body isn’t healthy enough for a situation like that, Kas. I’ll do i–”
Bobby raises a hand in the air. “No. Wait.”
Kasey spins on her heels at the sound of an aeroplane’s engine roaring, and it sounded close too, she glances round to see people looking in the sky with confused expressions, but with a quick shake to her head to wake her mind up, she quickly ushered them elsewhere, telling them that they need to get cover.
Bobby overheard Kasey and yelled, “incoming! Everybody, take cover!”
Kasey sent a worried look towards the house before being dragged down to the ground by Buck who jumped down from the fire truck to get the pair of them to crawl under it.
His hand instantly grabs her, squeezing it to try and let her tired body know that everyone would be okay, but Buck watched Kasey’s tired eyes flutter and he wondered if Kasey was truly going to be okay after all of this, because looking at her now, it looks like she could past out from extreme exhaustion in any minute, and it made Buck wonder how she has been hiding this for so long.
“Holy shit,” Buck heard his friend mutter next to him, “that’s a shit ton of water.”
Buck didn’t reply as he continued to stare at the side of her face with worry, ignoring as the water fell above them. It was easy to ignore when he allowed his mind to finally settle on his friend who special talent was hiding all this pain.
She needed sleep.
And after this Buck knew he was going to wrap her up and make her into a blanket burrito and stay with her until she fell asleep.
Buck snapped out of his thoughts when he noticed Kasey pull herself out from under the truck, standing onto her feet as she did a little shake – Buck didn’t know if this was her way of keeping her body to stay awake, or if it was just a random Kasey action.
She walked towards the house, anxiously waiting for any movements or a response back over the radio after Bobby asked if he could hear them. Her hands were shaking, but she hide that by patting the front of her thighs.
The front door was kicked to be opened further, and Eddie walks out with the boy in his arms, Kasey calls for his name as if it was a pray. She rushed towards him and watched as he gently laid the child down onto the ground.
The moment she heard the boy gasp, Kasey span and punched Eddie gently in the chest, before she brought him into a tight hug.
Her arms were round his neck, and his easily found comfort round her waist as he too held her closely. He gently swayed as he just breathed in the moment of Kasey hugging him.
“You’re okay,” she whispers. “Your James Bond arse is okay.”
“My what?” Eddie chuckles, frowning slightly when he feels Kasey pulling away from the hug before replacing his frown with a small smile as he took in the stupidly adorable smile she had on her face.
“Nothing,” she says, and Eddie shakes his head before wrapping his arm around her shoulder, bringing her close into his side.
“I really want some pizza after all of this.”
Kasey hums, “you deserve it.”
“You want to come back to mine for some?”
“Won’t Shannon be there?” She asks, she didn’t want to intervene with anything, and she had this feeling that the woman didn’t like her very much, despite the pair having any actual conversation between one another.
“No,” Eddie shakes his head, “just me and Christopher.”
“Ah,” Kasey wraps her own arm around her waist as she rested against the man a little more comfortably, “my favourite Diaz.”
“I’m ignoring you said that.”
“You always do.”
Buck pats Eddie on the back as he stands on the other side of him. “What was the Spider-Man routine.”
Eddie closes his eyes for a second. “I don’t know. I just did it. And prayed a lot.”
Bobby then copies Buck’s actions, “yeah, it looks like someone was listening.”
Buck looked at Kasey, eyebrow raising as he nodded his head off to the side, gesturing for her to come with him as he obviously wanted to say something. She slipped out from Eddie’s hold and made her way towards Buck who sat himself down on a patch of grass under a tree.
“You alright?” Kasey questioned as she sat herself down next to him.
“You know,” he turns to look at Kasey, his eyes no longer on the conscious kid. He needed Kasey to hear his words, to let her know that she can trust him, that he was there for her. “You’re kind of my comfort person.”
Her face scrunches up as she lets out a breathless laugh.
“You’re that one person who just makes me feel better no matter what.” He bumps her shoulder. “Like I could be having the worst day ever, but I could just look at you and I would feel okay. And I would be able to tell you anything because I know you wouldn’t judge me.” Buck pauses. “You’re my best friend and I–”
“You’re kind of my comfort person too, Buck.” Was all Kasey responded with and she knew that was something Buck needed to hear, she knew it was a way to keep him at bay before he would combust with worry over her – she knew this was his way to tell her he was there.
And she knew, but she didn’t know if she actually wanted people to help her – she didn’t feel broken, she didn’t feel like she needed to be fixed…she was just tied.
And what else should she say? That she has a fear of going back to her apartment? That would be ridiculous because who would be afraid of their own house?
Kasey felt ridiculous, but she hid it behind a smile and told her friends – her family – that she was okay, and Kasey was sure that the more she says it, the more she would be able to pretend she was.
And to her, she was okay.
She’s always been okay because she’s Kasey Strand.
She always gets back up.
...But maybe one day, she won’t ever get back up.

Love at Half Naked - Eddie Diaz (NSFW)
Tumblr media
Y/N’s POV:
Upon entering the Diaz home (after throwing my shoes aside) with one of the spare keys Eddie gave me and Buck I don’t expect to see Eddie in the living room dancing... in only his boxers... tight boxers. All I can do is stare as the small layer of sweat that shines against his olive skin and the curves of his toned body move so goddamn smoothly.
The slamming of the front door makes us both jump as it slips from my grip. Eddie turning around and his eyes falling to my hips rather than meeting my gaze draws my own attention to the fact that just watching Eddie for the last few minutes has left me with a problem of my own.
“Oh- oh god!” I spin away from the practically naked firefighter, covering the rock hard bulge in my trackies with a face flushed so red I wouldn’t be surprised if my face just explodes there and then. I need to leave but I can’t, not like this, not in public —
“Y/N?” Eddie’s voice is soft but there’s something else there than hitches the breath in my throat, especially when he places a hand on my hip to turn me around instead of my shoulder, “Hey,”
“H-hi!” I can’t stop the stutter or the enthusiasm but it just makes Eddie smiles sweetly at me and I’m just gone. I am head over heels in love with this smoking hot and straight god before me.
“I’ll take the compliments but I’m bisexual, not straight.” He tells me. I said that out loud?! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I can’t look at him but I can’t turn away either as his hand is still on my hip, hot and steady, so I just keep my head down. That plan fails because a finger hooks under my chin and suddenly I’m staring into hazel eyes that are usually on the side of warm honey and leaves in summer but now... Now they’re a darker colour, mostly filled brown and oh god. He’s speaking, saying words I never thought I’d hear but I can’t hear them over the shock: “I’m head over heels in love with you too.”
“Kiss me?” I choke out and Eddie does not need to be told twice as I’m being backed up into the kitchen island with both of his hands now on my hips and his lips against mine. The first touch of his firm lips against mine was like all those cliche love stories but then again it wasn’t. No fireworks or people cheering, just the feeling of Eddie and his tongue brushing over my lips. It’s sloppy and messy but nonetheless hot and I never want it to end. Damn humans and needing oxygen.
Neither of us need to say a word, knowing what we want, and Eddie is lifting me up with ease as he makes his way to his bedroom. I don’t think, just act as his neck is on display and it’s too bare for my liking. He shivers beneath me, tilting his head to expose more of his neck as I nip and suck at the skin, tongue lapping over to soothe the now forming hickey.
A shriek is torn from my lips as I’m unceremoniously thrown on the bed, the firefighter tugging impatiently at my trackies so I just raise my hips for him to do the honours. His cognac eyes meet mine, a question hidden behind the want and I nod because yes, yes I want all of him. I want all Eddie has to give, “I want you.” I choke out and that’s all he needs to have my trackies on the floor.
The moan that escapes his lips as he realised I went commando makes my dick twitch and I swear the usually innocent man is practically drooling right now. I’m ripping my shirt over my head as Eddie kicks off his boxers leaving us naked and exposed. All that heat of the moment confident begins to evaporate and I’m closing my legs as he’s watching me, want pouring from him.
His eyes soften as he pulls me to the edge of the bed, kneeling and gently pulling my knees apart while looking up at me between his lashes. He surprises me when he begins pressing soft and loving kisses to the insides of my freckled thighs, making love his way up from my knees and towards the curls.
The first feel of his tongue sends a bolt of electricity up my spine but I don’t have time to revel in how good it feels before Eddie is swallowing me down whole, gagging slightly when I hit the back of his throat. It sends my head flying back at the tightness of his throat before he sets a steady rhythm. It’s beautiful and I don’t know what to do with myself, I’m paralysed just laying there as one hand grips the bedsheets for dear life while the other tangles through Eddie hair, pulling. I accidentally pull on his curls and oh god, the way his moans vibrate up my dick to that very tight pleasure beginning to pool in the pit of my stomach. It takes everything in me to hold on just a bit longer because oh he’s beautiful.
Eddie meets my gaze as I pull myself up onto one elbow, finally registering how tightly he’s gripping my hips and knowing there’s going to b bruising in the morning. But that’s nothing compared to the way his red and swollen lips swallow my dick with drag of his tongue which swirls around the sensitive tip every pull back. Just seeing all of this sends me over the edge, that tight knot in my stomach snapping and I’m tightening my grip on his hair, head falling back as I feel myself shooting down the back of his throat with a low whine of his name. He continues sucking me off until I’m pushing him away, slowly becoming sensitive.
“Do you... do you want me to-“ I’m cut off when Eddie stands up, cum splattered across his chest and dick softening already, “Oh.” It knocks the rest of the air from my lungs but I don’t care because I’m yanking Eddie on top of my and kissing those red and swollen lips with urgency. He chuckles, kissing me back with a newfound gentleness.
“Let me get cleaned up then we can sleep, okay beautiful.” He whispers and I can’t stop the sound escaping my throat at how wrecked he sounds, his voice coming out scratchy. I just nod and follow his ass out the room as he heads for the bathroom down the hall. Once he’s out of sight I slip under the warm duvet, burrowing in it as it smells of Eddie. All I think of is Eddie as my eyes begin to get heavy. No I have to wait for him to get back.
It’s a few minutes before the bed dips and arms wrap around me, pulling me against the safeness that I know is Eddie. A kiss falls against the back of my neck before I’m losing consciousness.
———
“OH MY GOD!” I’m woken with a start, screaming, until I see Buck stood in the doorway, mouth dropped open in shock. Beside me Eddie groans at the commotion
“Oh my god!” I shriek back, pulling the duvet over my exposed and naked chest when I realise I’m naked in Eddie’s bed with an also naked Eddie and Buck is standing in the doorway.
“Buck?” Christopher’s voice calls with concern and the familiar click-clack of his crutches has Buck springing into action. He slams the bedroom door shut just as Christopher begins to appear and I don’t hear what he tells Eddie’s son but their muffled voices fade as I guess Buck takes him to the kitchen.
“Baby?” Eddie’s sleep filled voice breaks through my panic and I smile down at him to be met with such a loving smile in return I think my heart stops for a second. However I can’t stop the choked laugh as Eddie’s voice sounds just as hoarse and wrecked as it did last night. It honestly turns me on a little but the thought of Buck and Christopher just down the hall in the kitchen stems any thoughts like that, “Was that Buck?”
“He’s making breakfast with Christopher.” I nod and finally Eddie gets on board with my panic.
He sits bolt upright, looking around before he stops as our gazes catch. He can see the pure terror in my own eyes because grabs my face in his hands gently and tells me softly, “We don’t have to anyone yet. Well, besides Buck. We don’t even have to tell Christopher yet,” He kisses me sweetly, “All I really know at the moment is I want you and I will do anything to have you.”
“I-I want you too,” I whisper, not being able to help it when my cheeks flush bright red, “I’ve wanted you for a long time Eds.”
He doesn’t reply, just gives me soft and heartfelt kiss before climbing out of bed. I can’t help the face my eyes gravitate to his v-line because this man is fine as hell.

Standing with your hands on your hips, you let out a soft sigh and shook your head. "How the hell are we supposed to find anything in there?"
You looked out at the tall corn maze ahead of you. The whole area had been shut down due to a body being found, the third in a week, all supposedly from the same suspect.
Lou stood beside you with a similar stance, "We're stuck. We need something on this guy."
"And you think we're gonna find it in there?" You side-eyed him and he shrugged.
"We got nothing else." As he stepped towards the entrance to the maze he waved his hand, "Come on."
You let out a sigh as you followed him into the maze, immediately focusing as you looked carefully down every path and into the corn, hoping you'd find anything. A weapon, blood, evidence. Something that could point you to the guy behind these murders.
As the two of you slowly made your way though the maze, you collected a few fibers, fully aware they were probably from various civilians who had come through the maze in previous days. You were grasping at straws, desperate to end this case.
Looking up, you noted the darkening sky, checking your phone you sighed. "Why didn't we come earlier in the day? We wont be able to see anything soon."
"Good question."He chuckled.
Hearing a shuffling sound nearby your head shot towards the sound. You stared in between the corn stalks, seeing nothing.
"God this place is creepy." You muttered and you heard Lou chuckle.
"You sure we're the only ones here?" You asked after a few minutes, still hearing noises throughout the corn maze.
"The whole site's closed off." He replied casually as he turned on his flashlight, the sky having become dark enough it was growing harder to see.
Your heart was beating heavily as adrenaline was rushing through you. Something was telling you there was something else in the corn maze. But you tried to convince yourself it was just your overactive imagination.
"Shouldn't we be out by now?" You asked, growing antsy.
You had been wandering through the maze for over an hour, having given up on searching for evidence when it grew too dark.
"We're close." He said simply, but you could since reservation in his tone.
You paused, staring at the back of his head, seeing him trying to peer over the corn stalks. He was tall enough to see over them, but the dark surrounding you made it hard to locate the exit.
"Are we lost?" You asked after hearing him let out a soft sigh.
"No."
"Are you sure."
He stopped as he turned to look back at you. "...No"
You groaned as you leaned back your head.
Walking down a coupe more paths, Lou spotted a hay bale. Standing up on it he peered around.
"There's a scarecrow nearby, we must be in the middle." Shining his light around he nodded his head, "The exit is that way, I can see the farm."
"At least your height is useful for something." You mumbled and he grinned as he climbed back down.
As you stalked your way trough the maze, you continued to hear various noises within the corn stalks. And you couldn't help the feeling as though you were being watched.
Without realizing you had gotten close to Lou, your hand was now holding onto his jacket as your eyes darted around in paranoia.
Lou glanced down at you and grinned. He cleared his throat softly.
"Are you scared??"
You glanced over at him before replied, your voice much less confident than you intended. "No."
"Then why are you holding onto me?" There was amusement obvious in his tone.
You looked over at him before realizing you were in fact holding onto him.
You quickly let go before rolling your eyes, wanting to avoid the teasing. "Shut up."
He chuckled as he leaned down a bit and obvious teasing grin on his face you could see even in the darkness.
"If you get scared you can hold my hand."
"How about I hit you instead?" You replied quickly, making him laugh.
As you began down another path, you both heard a thudding noise around the corner, causing you both to stop in your tracks. You saw Lou's hand rest on the hilt of his gun as precaution as you both slowly turned the corner.
You weren't sure if you were relieved or not to find the only thing being the tall looming scarecrow.
You made an audible noise in discomfort as you bot approached it. "Why does it have to be so creepy?"
"To scare the kids." He mumbled and you snorted a bit.
"It would definitely work on me."
As Lou climbed up on another hay bale to find the way out, you stared wearily at he Scarecrow. You weren't sure what had made the thudding noise before, but it had to the scarecrow somehow. Maybe the pole it was on was not sturdy. Grabbing it and shaking it softly, you realized it was firmly in place.
You hummed under your breath in uncertainty as Lou walked back over to you. "I figured out the path to get out, come on."
After another ten minutes and a few bickering comments you finally made it out of the maze.
You let out a groan of relief. "I'm never forgiving you for that by the way." You peered over at him and he chuckled.
"Understandable. This was definitely not one of my best ideas."
Looking back at the corn maze, you could make out the scarecrow in the moonlight and you felt your body stiffen.
"Wasn't...the scarecrow facing the other way?"
Lou looked back at the scarecrow and thought for a few moments. "Yeah, it was facing the entrance."
"How did it move? I checked the pole it's on after we heard that noise that thing was firmly in place."
You and Lou shared a look of uncertainty before peering back at the scarecrow. A mutual shiver ran up both your spines before you shook your head.
"If you want to find anymore evidence in that maze, you better send someone else."
Lou nodded his head, "Let's go."
You followed his lead, more than ready to leave the creepy farm and the scarecrow behind. Sparing another look back at the scarecrow, you felt your blood run cold.
You weren't sure if it was now your eyes and brain playing tricks on you, but you swore you saw it look at you.
xx End xx

Authors notes: I told myself I would be better this year and write stuff ahead or in the day but here I am 11 minutes before midnight posting this. All mistakes are my own, this is a dumb little fic but it's a warm up. Can we go 31/31 this year?
You had always prided yourself on having a strong stomach when it came to being a paramedic. Dislocations? Easy. Blood, vomit and other bodily fluids? Didn’t phase you in the slightest. At one point during your training you thought you had no squicks and prided yourself on it until one day you encountered a particularly gruesome injury where you were called out to a factory to a worker with a foreign object in the eye. As soon as you saw the patient you felt the blood drain from your face and the next thing you knew you were on the floor surrounded by your colleagues’ concerned faces.
Thankfully, since joining the 118 you hadn’t come across any injuries of that sort. No one knew about your past dealings with it and for all you knew you had outgrown that response, after all you were new to the job and still in training on that last encounter. That was, however, until today.
The team had been dispatched to a medical call in a quiet suburban neighborhood. You hadn’t gotten a lot of detail from dispatch, just that the wife was clearly distressed and the husband had some sort of facial injury. When you arrived on scene, Bobby ordered you and Chim to assess the patient while he calmed down the wife and Buck and Eddie were on crowd control and were there as an extra set of hands.
There was a man on the floor, clutching his hand to his face, blood seeping through his fingers and clearly in distress. Chim knelt by the man’s side as you opened the kit and rummaged for supplies to stem the bleeding. You weren’t prepared for what happened next as the man lifted his hand away from his face. The sight made your stomach churn.
Taking a deep breath, you tried your best to maintain your composure and keep your mind focussed on the job at hand as Chim began his assessment, asking questions and reassuring the man. Unable to hold back any longer and feeling the nausea rising and your vision tunnelling you had to excuse yourself before you made a scene.
“Hey Chim, can you take over for a minute? I just need to grab something from the ambulance.”
Thankfully, Chim didn’t seem to notice your response, too engaged with the patient to have noticed your reaction. He nods, easily taking over as you hurried away from the scene towards the safety of the ambulance, attempting to keep your breathing under control.
Your heart is pounding in your chest as you try to calm yourself down and get the images out of your head. The memories of the scene you’d just encountered mixing with the memories of your training days. Your stomach twisted again in response.
Unbeknownst to you, Buck and Eddie had seen you move away from the scene and towards the ambulance. They didn’t miss how unsteady you were on your feet as you placed a hand on the side of the ambulance to steady yourself. The pair exchanged worried glances before they made their way over to your side to check if you were okay.
You’re so focused on keeping yourself upright and taking deep breaths that you barely hear Buck and Eddie approaching before your vision begins to grey around the edges and your body sways once more as your legs give out from beneath you.
Strong arms wrap themselves around you, saving you from hitting the ground as they keep you steady and in place.
“Easy now. I’ve got you,” Eddie asks, his brow furrowing in concern as he sees how pale and shaky you look.
You hold onto him tightly, fighting to maintain consciousness as he and Buck carefully help you towards the ambulance and sit you down on the edge.
“Y/N? Are you alright?” Buck asks as he kneels in front of you.
Eddie joins him, reaching out to take your wrist and feel your radial pulse. You can feel how fast it’s thrumming against his touch, hating how much of a reaction this is getting out of you.
With the initial shock over with, shame quickly replaces that feeling and you can feel the tears threatening to spill over.
“Take a deep breath for me sweetheart. You’re alright. We’ve got you,” Eddie reassures.
You do as he says and take a deep breath, trying to push down the nausea that still threatened. “It’s the eye thing…I just can’t…”
Tears began to spring at the back of your eyes from the distress and embarrassment of the situation. “I’m sorry. You must think I’m an idiot. I’m a paramedic, I should be able to handle this.”
“Hey, it’s okay.” Eddie reassures you with a gentle squeeze of your hand. “We all have our thing we can’t stand. For me it’s field amputations. I don’t know, I just can’t after the war.”
“Okay, but that’s understandable,” you begin, “mine sounds dumb in comparison.”
“You should hear the first time I ever encountered airway secretions on the job. Let’s just say I didn’t handle it well either and Chim followed me around for the next week making suctioning noises and whispering ‘sputum’ in my ear.”
You burst out laughing, feeling a little lighter about the situation. “Secretions? Seriously Buck?”
Buck smiled back, helping to keep the mood light, “listen, I can handle almost every emergency but something about that sound just gets me.”
Eddie joined in unable to contain his laughter and you felt the tension and worry you had from earlier slowly melt away.
“See, we all have things that just gross us out and things we can’t handle. It’s part of being human and part of the job,” Eddie reassures.
“I’ll tell you what, I’ll handle the eye stuff from now on if you handle the suctioning and airway?” Buck held out his hand for you to shake.
You let out another laugh, and took his hand, nodding in agreement, “Deal.”
With that, Buck left you and Eddie alone, taking your place in helping Chim with the patient, feeling a little lighter and a little better about not being able to handle everything this crazy job threw at you.
