Cassie Sandsmark’s Relationship With Femininity

ok so i want to dive more into cassie sandsmarks character and her relationships.

throughout her comic appearances, gender, femininity, sexuality and lack thereof is very prominent in cassie sandsmarks character. Its shown as soon as she appears. shes 14, short haired and wears baggy clothes and overall gives off the stereotypical tomboy vibe which continues on and off throughout her young justice appearances, but she also battles deeply with what she really wants.

she also clearly shows multiple times that she wants, or thinks she wants boys, specifically superboy (kon-el) to like her, going as far as to join young justice to see him (although i have more thoughts on this which ill get to later)

she also shows jealousy towards cissie because of kons attention to her.

HOWEVER i have reason to believe that this is born of compulsive heterosexuality and a misguided attempt at displaying her need for attention and validation (often from guys because, again, comphet).

for example, here it mentions that cassie cant stop thinking about cissie “doing something romantic” with superboy.

which, i may be reaching here, but if she was truly romantically interested in kon, wouldn’t she mention him first rather than cissie? also, she mentions shes not thrilled that boys are looking at her, even though she thought thats what she used to want.

later on she becomes best friends with cissie, almost instantly after seeing her stick up for others, going as far as to literally fall asleep holding her hand. you cant tell me thats not at least a little gay.

as shown before multiple times, cassie strives for companionship and attention, its not a bad thing, in fact it further shows that cassie is kindhearted and loves those around her deeply, even if they don’t necessarily feel the same or treat her well (for example, the boys are constantly underestimating her in the early issues, especially kon who goes as far to be outwardly shocked when she takes a risk and turns out to be right)

(this isnt hate against kon, theyre all learning and figuring stuff out)

but after cissie leaves the team, which cassie doesn’t take very well, her “attraction” to kon seems to fade away, she also seems to be slightly more aware of the fact that kon doesn’t exactly take her completely seriously.

after young justice: sins of youth, cassie sheds the wig and the shorts and swaps to jeans and a leather jacket which is more “masculine”. she also refers to her old outfit, which could be seen as symbolic of her comphet, as her “what was i thinking phase”

despite seeming more sure of herself, shes still battling with who she is and how she wants to be, she gets angrier and moodier, which is touched on in issue 22

she doesn’t know what she wants, and it scares her. shes 14-15 and a superhero and people have expectations for her, she has expectations for herself too, which she often projects onto other people (which ill mention later when i get to her in teen titans) shes only sure of a few things: she wants to be a hero, she wants her best friend back, she wants to be taken seriously. between those three things though? she has no idea.

around her, everything is breaking down. cissie is struggling with her mother and cassie (for the most part) had a healthy upbringing and doesn’t know how to relate and help cissie with that. despite this, she still has unrealistic expectations of cissie. she doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want to be a hero because cassie has always wanted that, and wants cissie to want that too.

so, we get to issue 35 where everything comes to a head with cissie.

she refuses to listen to cissie even though time and time again shes told. after cissie proves a point, cassie finally starts to understand (although she still pushes it a few times in the next issue)

and then after going through a war and having tim and bart leave, and tim come back, and suddenly shes running for leader and confesses to “kon” that she loved him, or thought she loved him, and then she is leader and shes handling a full on invasion of zandia.

so needless to say, cassie doesn’t really have time to think about herself and her identity. at this point her hair has grown significantly, and she’s no longer acting entirely like herself.

so this all happens, greta betrays everyone (deserved) and then suddenly shes human and then donna dies which cassie takes very hard.

a pattern ive noticed is that the more disconnected from herself that she gets, and the more angrier, she changes her appearance to be more feminine, like she’s in denial or at least trying to hide behind femininity so she doesn’t have to admit her own emotions to herself.

as she starts a somewhat vague relationship with conner, she never really refers to him as her boyfriend, often using the word friend instead, despite conner referring to her as his girlfriend.

she also starts to project this idea of femininity and repression, specifically onto raven. when raven expresses considerable discomfort at wearing a dress, cassie counters this with a “you said you wanted to expand your wardrobe”, like she wants raven to be what she’s trying to be. feminine, happy and without fault.

later, she mentions her previous appearance, ambitions, and seems to have a sense of hatred for her previous self, despite in all accounts she was quite happy and open during that period in her life.

to me, cassie’s femininity is a way to hide her true self. its the way she can feel better and not as confused, and try to be someone shes not by just denying the way she really feels.

in conclusion cassie is a butch lesbian thank u for reading this makes absolutely no sense but idc bc the cassie brainrot is real and has taken hold

Alastor's starts his usual broadcast when he realizes his muse has unlocked his side of their shared frequency--and of *course* Al takes advantage, how could he not? It would be entertaining to mess with dear Vox, after all, hadn't he told him to never let any weakness show towards what he thought was an enemy? (Not that he would ever, ever permanently hurt his precious, precious, picture box. Remind him of lessons he should have already learn so he could continue to live, so he could return to Alastor's side, once and for all? Of course!)

So he puts on jazz music mixed with previous overlord and sinner screams, before falling into the frequency to find out what Vox is up too--only to SNARL in RAGE as agonizing pain reaches him from Vox.

He rips himself from the deep immersion, antlers scraping the ceiling as he stands up. "VOX," He breathes, melting into the shadows and disappearing from his radio tower.

He appears in Vox's room, his shadow moving towards the room's door, stretching over it until it covers it completely. The scent of Vox's blood fills the air, and Alastor snarls again.

He stalks over to Vox's nest of blankets, eyes on the still figure resting within. He hisses as he catches sight of Vox's Broken and bleeding tail lying limp outside of the nest, before he sees the hastily wrapped stomach wound and the gauze pressed onto Vox's right shoulder.

Another snarl leaves his throat--who dared hurt his muse? As he slipped his shoes off before entering Vox's nest, gently touching the TV demon's wounded shoulder to treat it.

The touch it seems is all it took to wake Vox, as the broken cyan tail gave a weak jerk, and his screen powered on. Red eyes blinked, panic, fear and hate gleamed in them before they realized who it was, and pure relief shone in them mix with a bit of warmth at seeing the stag.

"Vox, dear, who did this too you?" Alastor gently asks, as he begins to treat Vox's shoulder wound, summoning medical equipment as needed. His ears flatten and his rage grows as his muse attempts to answer and only gibberish and squeaks come out, and he gently presses a finger to Vox's lips. "Let's get you better first, then you can tell me." He murmurs softly, finishing fixing Vox's shoulder before checking the gut wound and giving a bellow of rage as he spots the angelic bullet. "WhO DaReS?!?!"his roars, antlers screeching against Vox's metal ceiling, before something sweet and warm reaches out to him in their shared frequency, gently curling around him, nuzzling him, soothing his rough edges and promising him a sweeter, bloodier revenge later--one that will taste even better.

Alaster gives a bleat as he relaxes into Vox's frequency touch, silently categorizing the pain still filling it as his muse sooths him. "Let's get this bullet out of you, and sew you up, hmmm my sweet Clio? But first, I'm going to give you a little shot--It's for pain." He murmurs as he began to work, taking a shot filled with a highly potent pain medication and diligently finding a vein in Vox's unhurt arm, stabbing it in and giving his muse the medicine before the other overlord could stop him. Grinning as Vox shot him an unhappy look, he gently rubbed his thumb on Vox's hand until the medicine took effect, and then he began to work.

After finishing with both Vox's stomach and tail, Alastor curled around his muse, one arm gently curled over Vox's chest, their frequency freely flowing as Alastor soothed Vox's dreams.

"They'll pay, dear one." He purred mouth pressed against Vox's monitor. "They'll regret this. Oh, this I promise."

ough the hurt/comfort troupe ALWAYS hits me like. straight in the fucking heart especially. i think theyre really so sweet...... i think alastor would probably circle through calling vox all the muses names at least once honestly, im surprised you went with clio first since i thought calliope was the most well known but i cant say its not a welcome surprise to see some variation lol

im guessing here that alastor and vox havent yet made up? which actually makes it all the more heartwrenching, really, especially if vox isnt really in his right state of mind when al comes so when he wakes up like all sober and no longer delirious from blood loss, imagine him just flinching and bolting away from the other.... haaaaahh you guys are really killing me with these mini fic morsels.

may i request a platonic relationship with rei and ritsu as their youngest sibling who is cheerful and more energetic than the two? they still have the sakuma's illness but their youngest sibling would suddenly get bursts of energy to do some silly stuff (kinda like leo lol).

might i add, because of the unusual action of the youngest sibling, the sakuma family (aside from rei and ritsu) sees them like an alien. reader is secretly hurt and sad because of this, since theyre being treated like an outsider. though they dont particularly show it, but rei and ritsu knows and continues to stick by their side.

Another Sakuma sibling… you are so much different from your older brothers! You were talkative and always got along with everyone and even their unit mates and friends~ Lucky!

There are times where you randomly appear on either Ritsu's or Rei's practices but they don't mind, really, they want your company anyways and it's good to see you hanging out and deciding to watch them do their practice because it boosts their morale. (They want to show off in front of their sibling)

Ritsu turns you into his pillow when you decide to visit him one time saying, “I can't find Maa-kun anywhere, but you'll do. ♪” Izumi would scold Ritsu for slacking off the practice again, and… you as well. Since you appeared, Izumi would scold you for interrupting their practice and you could've just visited them when it's their break time, so Izumi told you their schedule so the next time you'll arrive is at their breaks. (Which you didn't follow)

You and Leo would be great buddies! Seriously, Izumi acts like a mother to the both of you since you two are talking about aliens and how Leo got abducted by aliens. Leo would get mad at Izumi whenever he asks you to leave, “Hey Sena! Don't make her leave!" Izumi would just sigh in disappointment because it would mean their practice will be cancelled.

Arashi will be your best friend as well! She would gladly help you out if you have troubles, or advice that you needed and if you needed someone to let out your problems and feelings whenever your brothers are busy~ (I love her sm)

Tsukasa… Well, at first, he adores you! If you like sweets, the two of you will go to various candy/cakes/sweet shops and again, you'll get scolded by Izumi alongside Tsukasa. If you're not a fan of sweets, Tsukasa completely understands it! But that doesn't change the fact that he will at least try to make you like sweets.

Now for Rei! Everytime you visit your oldest brother, he doesn't mind it when you barge into the rehearsal room, “Kukuku, how did my precious youngest sibling find me~?” He would joke about it but he is still happy you decided to visit him!

Now if you're the same age as Ritsu but maybe a year or 2 younger?? Kaoru would try to hit on you, honestly. Rei wouldn't like it and he doesn't want his youngest sibling to be tainted by Kaoru! Adonis always teaches you about some knowledge of his hometown outside Japan and if he ever got the chance, he would make you taste one of specialties! As for Koga, he's pretty surprised that someone like Rei who has a pretty mysterious personality is so different from him! He would be confused, but in the end, he would be on good terms with you. :3

There are times when you're out in the sun for too long, or tiring yourself, you would collapse. You inherited the illness as well, and Leo would get worried and will have a mental crisis trying to bring you to a shaded area as much as possible. And a few seconds later, you would be back to normal! ..just avoid staying in the sun for too long.

Due to you being pretty much different from the Sakuma's, your family members sees you as an outcast and disgrace because of how outgoing you are. You can't help but feel sad and disappointed at their words. (You would rant at Arashi about this and she feels bad for you!) But you also can't help wondering what if your older brothers think the same as them? You're worried that they're just faking their personalities to go along with yours.

Now, Rei and Ritsu don't really know the problems you're going through, but somehow when one of the Sakuma member told how “disgraceful” and “a shame to the family”, their blood boils, how can they call you with those words?! The two of them would comfort you and Ritsu would most probably hug while Rei pats your back, saying comforting words.

You don't deserve to be called like that after all, there's different types of people, they would encourage you to keep doing what you like since that's your own way and they would support you like a good brother they are!

Someone should tell Eve that squeak doesn't get to decide how we feel about squeak's characters.

REAL. this is definitely gonna set some people off, but the whole "cuddles is the only real villain in the entire story and all the other staff are actually innocent" narrative is bullshit. nearly everyone that works at that hospital tortures and permanently detriments innocent lives if not ending them entirely in brutal ways, and were supposed to just forgive every single one just because "theyre being forced to do so"?

also, the "one true villain" being the only cishet and likely only neurotypical in the comic really rubs me the wrong way. apparently the reason sparklecare even got rebooted was because kneeby thought having evil characters also be queer was "bad representation". i am not a fan of the "queer people can do no wrong" approach. as someone whos gay and under the trans umbrella, id like to point you towards dahmer and chris chan.

jeffrey dahmer was a gay man who cannibalized other gay men. christine chandler is a transgender woman who committed incest. those traits are not mutually exclusive in the real world. they are taken simultaneously, unrelated to eachother unless you go out of your way to relate them. and i think its safe to say that nobody would try and link dahmers sexuality with his actions unless theyre homophobic.

just because one figure within a minority is fucked up, does not mean the rest of the minority is fucked up by association. if that was the case, then id be associated with edp445 and h/tler due to the fact im black and suffer from autism. but thats not the case at all, so why are the clowns so afraid of letting queer characters be antagonists, or vice versa?

all the nurses are treated like theyre completely innocent just because of their identities and/or them being possibly coded as neurodivergent. it seriously comes across as infantilizing queer and/or autistic people, which as someone whos both, i do not like. especially nurse puppy. i do not like the way puppy is written.

puppy is, in my opinion, the most explicitly autistic coded character in the comic (not including characters that are confirmed to be). lo is also the most babied by both the clowns and the fandom. loves whole premise is that cuddles brainwashed lov into seeing loves job (murdering and torturing innocent civilians) as a fun game. lo is canonically 30 years old, by the way.

speaking from experience, us autists are relatively easy to take advantage of when were younger, due to our difficulty grasping social cues. ive been taken advantage of by so many people in just fourteen years of being on this earth. ive been groomed, sextorted by someone who i saught out comfort from after said grooming, painted as a predator by the very person who sextorted me, and then propped by my only remaining "friend" group who would bring all that shit up just to milk my reaction and use it to further damage my reputation.

almost all these people were also queer and autistic, and coincidentally also liked sparklecare, my sextorter being the one who initially got me into it, since he had a uni pfp one time. theyre also victims of similar shit themselves. does that mean all queers/autists/sparklecare fans/abuse victims are like them? no. but does being any of those things excuse the torment they put me through? no the fuck it does not. you cannot give me the excuse of them "not knowing" or being "brainwashed", theyre all at least two years older than me, some being legal adults as im writing. you cannot convince me they didnt intend to fuck me up.

so it reasonably infuriates me to see a Grown Ass 30 Year Old Adult That Murders People For Fun And Listens To Them Scream In Misery With A Smile On Loves Face given the excuse of "lo doesnt know!!!! blame cuddles not lov!!!!" and the fandom just not questioning that at all. imagine watching your lover or best friend get murdered by someone breaking into their house and chucking a toaster into their bath while theyre taking a shower, and the cops* tell you to sue the manufacturers of the toaster. see how fucked that logic is? thats basically sparklecare.

*not like you should trust american cops but i needed an example ok

one of these people i described earlier happens to kin puppy, what a surprise. maybe im just projecting, but the most explicitly autistic coded character (also the only character so far that uses neopronouns/identifies as a xenogender) being treated this way is revolting to say the least, and i feel like lo is made immune to criticism by the clowns because lo just so happens to be those things. if this character werent queer, they would give no chances.* i will gladly allow puppy to exist as is, same personality, everything, i dont mind. its the constant infantilization and justification of loves abhorrent actions that upsets me.

*and this applies to all the other nurses in the comic, except maybe nurse snare since shes practically nonexistant after volume one. but in volume one we are shown barry being tortured and injured by, as far as i can tell, every nurse thats been introduced so far. barry, one of the fandoms most beloved characters, is put through excruciating pain and trauma on screen (with a million trigger warnings before each page, in typical clowns fashion) and nobody gives a fuck once its over, just because everyones queer except cuddles, and cuddles is the Only One To Blame For Anything At All Times.

the cycle of abuse is extremely common. an abuser being a victim does not cancel out them being an abuser, and if theyre not actively seeking help theyre a bad person, regardless of what minorities they belong to. but that does not mean everybody within that minority is a bad person. sparklecares creators and fandom cant seem to grasp that. kneeby cannot erase my opinions on the way the staff is portrayed.

hiii!! i wanted to start by saying that i LOVE with a passion your writing and fics, literally changed my life ong i dont know if you're currently taking requests or writing for lyney (or any fontaine characters for that matter) but i theres this idea that has been taking over my brain with lyney and him as a sub. (that said, feel free to ignore this if you aren't as familiar with his character and don't feel comfortable enough writing him)

just bear with me here for a second, so we all know that lyney is overprotective with his siblings and presents himself as a reliable person and hides behind his charming and onstage persona (i LOVE the fortress of meropide act where we can actually see farther into his character other than "flirty and charming magician" i also liked how lyney acted after his trial when he and lynette were talking w the traveler as an honorable mention)

then, we can see two versions of him, the version that is "lyney the magician", who was a way with words and is very skilled at deceiving people, flirty and suave he redirects a crowd's attention to focus only on the part (of himself) that he wants people to see. on the other side, we have a more "true" lyney, who is always protective for his siblings in fear that they are taken away from him again, he's impulsive but also genuine. a lyney that sometimes questions himself who he really is, after all of the masks and acts he has taken (character story 4), and also a lyney that wants to protect the home that arlecchino had given him and lynette when they were at their worst. (tbh him without his stage persona really comes off to me as "Im Trying ™")

(all seriousness aside, and this is just a headcanon, i could 100% see lyney in love in his room kicking his feet giddily and pacing around the room thinking of ways to romance his crush, just to go out and act all cool and suave like he wasnt just losing his shit for the last 2 hours) (or maybe im just projecting) (we will never know)

so, how does this play into flith?

imagine lyney having his first time w reader, he's not completely clueless because well, he's obviously an adult (and also this is lyney we're talking about. just look at his design.) i picture lyney overall (not just in sex) really good with theory, but when it comes to practice, he just falls apart.

another thing i also think would be at play is him learning to let go of his mask, of his responsibilities and just relax, let his brain turn into mush and his legs into jelly and let himself be fully naked (both physically and emotionally) in front of someone. how much he trusts his partner also is smth to be taken into account. i dont really see him as a one night stand type of guy.

then, i also think that his trauma with lynette's situation would also show, even though he isn't overly clingy with lynette, he always wants to be by her side, not only because theyre REALLY close but also because he subconsciously he wants to make sure that shes okay. (he even thought about getting a delusion so that they could be together on missions, and even when arle denied him he still tried to get better) i think that this subconscious need for feeling his loved one's presence (to put it in some kind of way) as if they would slip away the first moment he wasnt looking would manifest in the form of him being into handholding, or just overall keeping his hands on his partner, especially when he closes his eyes.

the last thing that i would like to mention is him w a praise kink, which i think would stem from his upbringing in the house of the hearth at least at mostly if not at all, due to searching for arlecchino's approval as a parental figure (setting aside the OBVIOUS father title, whether she intended or not she is the only parental figure the fontaine siblings have, and they do treat her as such, it would be normal for them to seek approval. however since we're talking about a harbinger, idk if that approval was met much, so yeah.) (however these are all assumptions based on how we can think life at the house of the hearth was for the sillies, i have only read lyney's voicelines and character stories and i am too lazy to read lynette's or freminet's, however i do think i am close enough)

LAST THING I SWEAR, with the whole "lynette has cat features and lyney having cat traits" thing. imagine,, lyney hiding his head in the crook of his partner's neck purring when hes too overstimulated... i am on my knees. 🧎

wow. that was a lot. sorry if i made this too long !! i wanted to request smut and ended up making a half assed lyney character study 😭😭 i hope i didn't bore you to death with my ranting, anyways even if you dont feel like writing, i would love to hear your thoughts about this. i love lyney's character with all my heart and i find that he is very fun to think about and explore his trauma character. i sincerely hope that you could find it in yourself to ignore my horrible phrasing skills and yeah.., i dont do requests often but i am desperate for sub lyney content and you have one of the most beautiful writing i have encountered in tumblr smut fics LMAO (if you do decide to write it, dom gn reader please and thank you)

anyway, lyney is not one of my absolute favs so i don't have a phd on him, so im not claiming all my opinions are corrrect, but i do like him a lot, i think he's v cute. i mostly agree with all of your points. what i would say, is that while ofc he has his stage persona, he really does love performance, its clear from his story quest. he enjoys attention, he likes impressing ppl, this is still part of his "real" self. like yes, he is very flustered when he has a crush and he will spend hours pacing around the room giddily and planning what he will do and then play suave, but he also really enjoys pulling it off, doing something special and impressive for his crush and then being admired and praised for it even if - especially if - he was actually nervious the whole time, bc thats part of the thrill, the high stakes!

if i were to write him, i think i'd do like. exhibitionism with a bit of pet play, bc i think he would want to do a show that he would rehearse for hours, and it would actually be pretty hot, but its too ambitious and some things you can't pre-plan without practice, so he *would* fumble things and be flustered, and on this edge of really charismatic and clumsily vulnerable is where his real charm lies.

anyway, i can't promise i'll write him, i assume you don't follow me since you said you don't know what i think of fontaine characters, but if i do, it will be in sub lyney tag so you won't miss it:)

i feel like starting some shit so im just gonna come out and say it. the way devsisters treats m/m relationships (and honestly? any kind of straightn’t relationship) is really starting to bug me

its not at a point where i feel comfortable calling it “queerbaiting” but by god it is getting close. i was already iffy on the way they treated espresseleine (remember the valentines day post? i try not to) but the way wildberry and crunchy chip were written in odyssey and ESPECIALLY odyssey chapter three really sealed the deal for me in terms of, yeah, theyre pandering to fujoshis here. it hasnt been long since odyssey ended but i have a gut feeling that wildberry and crunchy arent gonna show up again for a long time, if ever. which when you consider how often they dipped their toes into “hohohoehoho oh man isnt this kinda gay? aint this kinda fruity” territory (the scene where wildberry carries him. they absolutely knew what they were doing) without ever doing anything that implies any kind of unambiguous romantic attraction between them started to feel really skeevy the longer it went on. like, haha, look at these two guys being stupid and gay together. too bad you’re probably never gonna see them again and we’re never gonna elaborate beyond that lol :) i could be proven wrong but i’d be genuinely surprised if i was.

and thats not even getting into how they have a tendency to use same sex crushes for comedic purposes. theres milk cookies crush on dark choco which, at this point, can NOT be interpreted as anything other than romantic. and while not a m/m example, pomegranate’s in a similar situation where they’ve done everything to imply she has some kind of psychosexual obsession with dark enchantress cookie that isn’t just making her say “man i sure do wanna fuck my boss” in the game itself. thankfully sea fairy and moonlight’s relationship hasn’t been used to tease fans or played for laughs, but that should be the standard, not the exception.

it’s important to mention that cookie run generally hasn’t dabbled in any kind of explicit romantic relationships between its characters until recently, mint choco and cocoa cookie’s relationship is the first time they’ve shown it so openly and even then, they aren’t officially dating. but still, their relationship is played completely seriously, while gay ships, m/m ships especially, have to linger in some weird state of either being used for comedic effect, or used to tease fans who start foaming at the mouth uncontrollably when two men have any interaction that could be interpreted as even SLIGHTLY homoerotic.

Oh, the meaner yanderes would not let poor darling live that down. Some of them would turn patronizing very quickly, while others would continue to put you down for crying. What's more unfortunate is that you have no one else around to provide any stability or comfort, so you're stuck listening to whatever twisted form of consolation is coming from your yan (if they even console you at all).

Scaramouche would constantly point out how fortunate you are. You're living in luxury and yet you continue to shed tears when he so much as comments on your insecurities or how you're quick to cry. You ought to put more effort into being grateful rather than sobbing. Tears won't resolve anything here.

Childe dotes on you, especially when you're struggling to hold in your tears. You look too cute like that! He'll tell you it's completely okay to cry; in fact, why not use his shoulder? He'll gladly allow it. He's used to comforting his siblings when they're upset, but when it comes to you his way of doing it is far more condescending. Sometimes it feels like he's treating you exactly like his siblings—like you're just a child in the wrong. And other times it's as if witnessing your tears dulls his mood and he can't be bothered to present you with any faux sympathy. You think he prefers it when you actively resist him instead of breaking down and crying.

Ayato and Kaeya are also terrible about it because they'd both be very patronizing. It would constantly feel like they aren't taking you seriously despite the grim expressions they wear. Kaeya's barbs are considerably meaner than Ayato's, but even so their words cut even if it wasn't the original intention. They might tease you for crying, calling you adorable nicknames that feel incredibly insincere and make light of your tears. Sometimes they may even push you to crying and when it looks like you're on the verge of tears, they'll frown or pout at you and ask in a tone that most use for children, "Is my dearest darling going to cry again? Do you want me to make it feel better?" As if you've scraped your knee and aren't crying because they've made your life miserable.

Good luck trying to be haughty after crying. Now all they'll see you as is the fragile crybaby whose tears they relish in.

If I was to rewrite victorious Andre would be a cool trans guy who everyone in the school wants to go out w but hes actually secretly (not as much as he’d like to think, but still) pining for Cat, who’s actually aroace and pretty oblivious to his feelings, but she does entertain the thought of being w him which results in some silly situations like:

Cat: [kisses Andre on the cheek]

Cat (giggling): Sorry, I’m such a dork..

Andre: Thank you.

Cat: Huh?

Andre: [telling everything to the gang later]

Tori: Seriously?! “Thank you”??

Andre (sobbing in embarassment): I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY, OKAY?

Tori would be this one highschool kid who has gone to one too many identity crisis in middle shool regarding her gender and sexuality and has simply given up on labeling themselves. When she comes to Hollywood arts and the coffee incident happens there’s no romantic or sexual tension w Beck whatsoever (but Jade still hates her out of spite), they become very good friends w Andre just like in the show, is also good friends w Cat and Robbie and forms this unapologetically gay rivalry w Jade.

Jade is basically the same, just maybe less cartoonishly evil?? Still a lot of anger issues, bisexual she/they energy. breaking things and scaring the shit out of ppl. She dates Beck by the beginning but they very obvsly dont get along and its js as delightful as it is annoying hearing them argue abt everything all the fcking time and rant abt how much they hate each other js to not break up (they will eventually, dw)

Beck is not changed much, just more consistent. Sarcastic pretty boy, good actor, very blunt and open about his feelings, simply impossible to scare (maybe that’s why he managed to date Jade for so long💀)

Robbie is js the same weirdo w a puppet, except in this he’d lean more into a asshole-nerd trope. Is a fucking cunt to everyone, probably has big ass crush on Beck that he’ll never admit, flirts w every girl he sees out of insecurity, etc.

In this concept Rex is pretty much his own person, but since Robbie is a jackass then they are over all more similar, Rex still “bullies” Robbie, but it’s slightly toned down as they probably enjoy the same kinda things, have more compatible personalities, etc. Robbie’s js more awkward about… welll, everything.

Trina is still Trina, except we’d treat her like a actual character and not some “look, she’s bad at singing” joke

Cat is similar to her early seasons’ version, she is kinda dumb, volatile and weird but not completely out of it. She kind of knows how to play people (especially boys) to get what she wants. Most of her dumbness would actually be translated into obliviousness, Cat doesn’t notice thiings, she’s always in her own world and doesn’t rlly care abt “normal” things

In this Andre and Tori are best friends (none of the og chow fuckery where they claim beck and andre r besties somehow)

Cat and Robbie are completely platonic on Cat’s side while Robbie makes a few moves on her once in a while (w/o any intention of actually dating her)

Jade and Tori are just gay. I can’t really explain any way else. It’s the same as in the show, just more explicitly gay. Like, in the way where Jade probably goes out of her way to make Toris life miserable but gets very mad whenever someone else does it (shes probably screamed “only i can make her life living hell” at students in hollywodd arts more than once). Tori is also meaner to jade in retaliation, but theyre both kind of into fighting each other so its not rlly that much of a rivalry and more of a amusing thing. Theyre also weirdly jealous of each other. Jade chases people down the hall with scissors whenever someone makes a move on Tori

Beck and Tori are 100% platonic, they hang out more than they did in the show (which fuels jades bother w them in the beginning) but remain abt the same level of closeness

Jade is.. less mean to Cat. Like they dont find bothering her as funny bc she js doesnt understand it and it ends up being meaningless, thats kind of the only reason they manage to get along

Cat and Beck r pretty much the same as the show, still kinda big bro and lil sis dynamic

Cat and Tori are like the girlies ever. They go shopping together, gossip abt everything and everyone bc they know that no one else likes listening to them

Beck is pretty chill, w Robbie, who as I said, is kinda gay for him, theyre not that close but also not not-friends

Andre and Beck are very close, they fight a lot abt silly stuff but always make up and go back to being bros in less than a day

Robbie is kinda mean to Tori but theyre twice as mean back so they make it work🫶

Jade intimidates the shit outta Robbie, he is a jackass to everyone except her bc he knows he’ll get his dick chopped off if he tries anything funny

🌌The questions were disrespectful. Yes. Stern is someone who has said many things that are incredibly disrespectful to many of people. Long before any of you were born.

Do not think I am invalidating yours, or anyone’s reasons to not like him. I’m not. I, even, wrote “I don’t care for Stern”.

If I were defending Stern from his past behavior then, I would had absolved him entirely from his wrongs, and wrote something that echoed the GP’s reactions to Harries’ responses of the shows content, such as “Stop overacting”.

I didn’t. I said not to “falsely accuse him of saying things he didn’t say” during a specific segment when there’s evidence that clearly shows that those claims never happened.

That repeated action of falsifying reality does make many people not take fans claims of someone subtly attacking/ being a threat to Harry serious, especially when there’s a situation where those claims are legitimate.

It’s similar to The Boy Who Cried Wolf. When the time comes where you are telling the absolute truth, regarding something, due to your past habit of over exaggerating material, people will either ignore or completely refuse to believe you. Evenmore, that awful person WILL use your past of over exaggerating against you to vilify you as a liar.

Women who Harry has been linked to/ claimed to be dating were questionable characters.

But a lot of fans did have the tendency to group all of them together, and paint them as if they were ALL the Mistress of Satan, when they weren’t. Things were exaggerated to get others to know that those specific women were not as the media made them. However, if fans would had simply allowed for those particular people’s character and past actions to speak for itself; they would had seen that it would had been more than enough to expose them for the people that they actually were.

They were problematic. However, their problematic behaviors differed, and should had been addressed and treated uniquely.

For instance, Camille’s costume of Sharon Tate was grossly inappropriate, as well as her appraisal of Polanski. Some fans did over exaggerate those actions, and made it seem as if Camille was right there, with the Mason Girls, singing, twirling, and smearing hate speech in pig’s blood on the door, while the murders happened.

Rather than allow for her costume to be addressed for being offensive to Sharon, and all victims, and their families who have been affected by the Mason Cult.

For Caroline… I didn’t know Harry yet; I don’t know, personally, how everything was received by fans during that time.

However, I did see how some fans celebrated her suicide as “karma for being with a child”.

Don’t do that. Even though her, and Lucy, fooling around with a CHILD was very wrong (I don’t care about consent laws, as one could tell his mental status wasn’t fully developed to throughly understand the weight of all that) celebrating one’s death isn’t the way to convince people that this person isn’t who they think they are. Let their actions and character speak for themselves. It was enough to make you all realize something wasn’t right. For those who truly care about morality and justice, that evidence would suffice for them to see the truth, as well.

Now you have a situation where he is linked to one woman, who is a personification of every villainous claim/imagination Harries feared for him to be with…. and your frustrations and worries are falling on deaf ears, as the GP, and, even, Harries within the fandom aren’t taking you seriously, since they’ve heard and seen these responses before when the situation wasn’t that bad.

Harry and EACH OF YOU WILL be vilified after this by Olivia to gain the public’s sympathy. You glimpsed that last week.

You all saw how Olivia threw deuxmoi and her fans under the bus to escape accountability and victimize herself. You don’t think that Olivia is not planning to use fans�� past exaggerated claims of women he’s been linked to in the past as a tactic to play victim to the public, to solidify her lies? She used her kids to justify her stalking him and avoid accountability; she’s going to use EACH of you to justify her victim narrative of:“See! Harries are so evil! Their vicious lies and smear campaign tanked my film! They forced him and I apart! And he didn’t defend me once!”

Hell, Florence is going to be vilified more for DWD flopping, which is why Florence has washed her hands from the project and secured roles that discredits Olivia’s future lies of “Florence’s acting not being enough to tell the story as it should had been properly told.”

Don’t further legitimatize Olivia’s vilification claims of Harry and his fandom by over exaggerating/falsifying reality, thereby losing credibility.

Another anon (thank you for your insight) further elaborated more on the situation and explained how if those questions were deemed as disrespectful to Harry, he sure as shit wouldn’t had allowed for them to be asked.

Harry is FIERCELY protective of his family, both biological and chosen. I mean, him having that picture a fan took of him with Anne and Robin visiting a doctor’s office in London during Robin’s chemo treatment proved how much he values privacy for the ones he loves. That fan was detailing how they were worried about something serious happening within his family, since the offices were for doctors who specialized in cancer treatment. She was met with critics, but some did ask what she all saw, in which she described Robin having lost visible weight and him using a Harry’s newsboy hat to disguise the his hair loss.

For whomever posted that, as well as the people who saw the fan pic and story of it: Yes Harry saw that pic and discussion happening. He was the one responsible for all of that being erased from the internet.

The world saw how he defended Caroline and, supposedly, handled the fan who was targeting Camille.

I wrote supposedly as some people have said that that didn’t happen, as the girl claimed, while others said it did. If someone could clarify, it’d be greatly appreciated.

If Harry felt upset by any of the questions most of you were offended by, then he wouldn’t had returned to Stern; instead choosing a different show to be interviewed on.

4 Anti LO Asks

1. This isn’t just for LO, but to all HxP adaptations: people are allowed to not like it, even hate them. They dont need to justify why they don’t like it, since you can try and change the word to more flowery language (the “taking” of Persephone is trying to be a thing now) but it’s pretty obvious why many would not be comfortable with it, and are even offended by these romantic rewrites. They shouldn’t have to go through their possible sexual assault or abuse history to justify not liking a mediocre webcomic. In many ways the original myth be read as calling out a common cruelty that happened so frequently in that time period, and something that still happens in many places around the world. Death is not some romantic thing, it’s cruel and often unjust, and the myth was in a way was giving a voice to the countless silenced mothers and daughters who died to each other upon a daughter’s marriage. This isn’t some myth that was unfairly treated for centuries, it’s pretty obvious why people didn’t see it favorably and still do. I seriously do not get how these supposed masters of mythology and literature cannot comprehend why there’s an obvious distaste for hades and persephone being rewritten into a consenting romance. That’s not saying these rewrites cannot exist, I prefer them to the original, cruel myths, but the shock that these creators and readers have that many have major issue with these changes is just ridiculous. It’s a complete lack of self awareness, and frankly arrogance. People are allowed to not like your work, but especially are allowed to despise taking an infamous myth of female suffering and turning into how the man is the real victim. It’s not hard to see why.

2. i just dont get why lo persephone looks so much like rhea, and now rachel makes a point to say hades is similar to kronos? why would you pin your romantic leads visually and seemingly personality/powers-wise to the most toxic and abusive relationship in the whole series? is kronos also way older than rhea, got with her when she was only 19/20, and was her only "safe" option from her overbearing mother? because this visual and narrative choice to say theyre so similar has really bad implications.

3. I have seen some say LO persephone is justified because "Demeter kills people with her long winter" but that was literally her grief, not personal maliciousness. Demeter didn't do it on purpose, she was in such despair that the world reacted along with her. That's an actual case of you can't blame them for their emotions. If anything the blame would be on Hades for disrespecting her/keeping her daughter hidden and Persephone (in LO) not bothering to be mature and being honest with her mother.

4. if RS's name wasnt on LO and you said a man drew it, people would call out how the women are overly sexualized in non-sexual situations, the backbreaking s-posing, and putting Persephone, who in canon is barely legal, in revealing clothes if not completely naked is gross, but because they know its a woman making it its just stylization? Just b/c she's a woman doesnt mean she doesnt her own misogynistic biases. Stop treating a nearly 40 year old woman like a child, she should know better by now.

i do! i dont think ive ever been asked about them before so yay!

mandatory disclaimer that this post is about the show, not the books, and idc what happens in the books and wont be taking it into consideration here

okay so i think my brotp tag for them ("crazy scientists but make it glam") pretty much sums it up. i love the concept of crazy scientists magnus and izzy. like... if magnus and alec lose braincells when theyre together, magnus and izzy gain braincells, but lose Common Sense

because they are both so into similar things like physics and biochem and technology and magic, so if the subject comes up they will start excitedly talking about idk the possibilities for time travel or something, and alec of course has no interest in those things so hes like "k imma get a drink" and when he comes back magnus and izzy are Actually Seriously Planning On Launching Themselves To Mars and he has to be like "or maybe we could discuss this here on earth???" and alec is really not used to being the voice of reason when it comes to magnus but alas

and i just love magnus and izzy as that duo who can like spend hours talking in depth about the mechanisms of time travel or cures for magical diseases or whichever subject theyre focusing on at the moment and who make a mean team when working together but who can also get Too Excited and lose it a little

other than that the other thing i like about magnus and izzy is that they can relate to each other on that sense of being reduced to The Hot Fashionista, you know? like magnus is called a lothario and izzy is always treated like her one personality trait is Sexy™ and i think both of them kind of use that perception as an armor for themselves. i have talked about that in relation to magnus several times so i dont think it bears repeating because he himself compared his eyeliner to tiger stripes and magicked makeup on when he was feeling bad and alec was coming, so. but anyway my point is that izzy is no different and that was addressed in the sh that is good and lives in my head instead of her just being reduced to eye candy the whole show

like it's obvious that izzy's whole thing with being Sexy™ is something that she uses as part of her rebel act. like, her mom is gonna reduce her to a stupid slut anyway, so why not act the part? case in point: twi!izzy. in the world where the lightwoods weren't making her and alec's life hell, she allowed herself to be a lot more casual. also the way she is always talking about how she can do everything they do in heels, how she always uses her body to be "the distraction" and/or to gather information, to lure in demons even tho thats unnecessary, etc. like i think a part of izzy feels like sex is all she's good at and so she lays that in as thick as possible. she even kind of said so when she said that one of the reasons why she liked raphael is because she knew that sex wasn't a part of the equation for him

disclaimer! dressing in revealing clothes and/or sleeping around is not bad and doesnt inherently mean that the person has Unresolved Issues that end up manifesting like that, or whatever. i think izzy also dresses as she does because she likes it and good for her! she also clearly likes sex and good for her!!!! and it definitely doesn't mean her relationships are shallow because we saw how fiercely loyal she is to those he loves, platonically or romantically. i just think that the way she built her identity around that is partially because it is a good armor - if she presents herself as shallow and concerned only with instant pleasure and looking pretty, people won't get too close. and when they treat her as such, it doesn't hurt as much because she IS laying it on thick and she IS sexy and she can use it to her advantage, even to manipulate people, so whos laughing now?

for example, in s1 in particular izzy was always acting like she cared about nothing but having fun and going to parties, yet it was obvious that izzy actually cared way more about saving the downworld and helping those she loves, particularly alec. like she presents herself as shallow and unconcerned with anything but her own pleasure but it's clear that she's willing to throw all of that away - even give herself up to get married to whoever her parents choose, her own worst nightmare - for what actually matters and drives her: her loved ones and what she thinks is right. she was okay with getting deruned for what she believed in, thats not a shallow person. so obviously that whole thing was an act, and well, why put up an act like that when it borders on annoying honestly? i think it's to protect herself, for the reasons listed above

plus, it makes her mom mad, and a part of her is obviously defining herself in opposition to her mom. if her mom wants something out of her, she does the opposite, and that applies to her clothing too

anyway all of that is to say that magnus and izzy have a similar relationship with 1- their "lothario"/"slut" personas, and 2- the way they understand fashion and clothing. it's about expressing something to others, something that protects their vulnerabilities, for the both of them. and while i don't think they (particularly izzy) are exactly dying to go deep into that subject and their armors, there is that understanding between them, you know? and under the right amount of alcohol and in a safe enough environment when its just the two of them they might even talk about it and its nice to have someone who completely understands it, you know, that pretty specific defense mechanism and being reduced to sexualized stereotypes (especially since both of them are bi. id mention both of them being brown too but izzy's racial belonging in the show is uhhhhh weird to say the least so i wont get into that)

and also just the silly things! going to parties together, going shopping together, remember when magnus and izzy were both wearing the exact same color scheme and pattern? obsessed with the idea of them color coordinating just for like, the challenge of creating outfits that dont look the same or even like theyre supposed to match but that have similars colors and textures and patterns, you know?

also they are fantastic at gifting each other and somehow always know Exactly What The Other Has Their Eyes Own. like izzy will give magnus some eyeliner and he'll be like "how did you know ive been meaning to buy that?" and she'll go "i didnt" and wink at him, and the opposite is also true. or alternatively izzy will get him a book on astronomy and he'll be like "how did you know i was hyperfixating on black holes??" and she'll be like "i didn't" and the other way around as well. alec asks for their help buying gifts for the other more often than not, but izzy realized a long time ago that magnus likes alec's gifts better than hers, because even tho they aren't always a perfect fit, they are always so thoughtful and blow him away even tho that was in no way alec's intention (see: the omamori)

also izzy is fiercely protective of alec, magnus, and their relationship as a whole, which sometimes really warms magnus' heart when she just. jumps in to their defense when someone is being bitchy, you know? it's nice that she has their back

Dear Mr. All Might by QuizzicalCrow (tumblr: @quizzicalcrow ) Rating: G Category: Gen ~5,000 words Summary: As the #1 hero for decades, All Might has collected a lot of fan mail over the years. Toshinori tracks down a series of letters that only now, years later, does he appreciate for their significance. I always love the thought of All Might looking through his fan mail, even if he can’t get to all of it. This was a wonderful glimpse into that AND it was made to be so, so personal and sweet. Go have some heart-healing fluff.

Once, he would have been thrilled to look more like All Might, but now those connections are as much a source of anxiety as they are of pride.Or, Izuku wakes up one morning and sees the world through different eyes. Izuku having anxiety and Toshi being there to help him through it and calm him down? Sign me UP. Its also a pretty cool take on how One for All is able to change things about it’s holder. Could this happen in cannon? Who knows.... Regardless, it was a great read!

I’ll Carry You Home by Renesvetta Rating: G Category: Gen ~2,700 words Summary: While training with All Might, it wasn’t uncommon for Izuku to be so exhausted at the end of the day that he unwittingly fell asleep without regard for where he was. It consequently became part of All Might’s routine to help his young protégé home. During that time, Izuku may have let loose more than one sleepy confession towards his mentor. Yes, it is as adorable as it sounds. Its tagged with “self indulgent Dad Might fluff” which is both accurate and appreciated. In other words: Superb you funky little writer!

Simple Gifts by QuizzicalCrow Rating: G Category: Gen ~6,700 words Summary: One year ago, Izuku received the greatest gift he could ever imagine. Now he’s determined to return the favor for the one responsible for it all with a gift of his own. First off, I love the idea of Izuku and Toshi quietly celebrating the anniversary of passing on OfA from All Might to Izuku. Even just taking the day to hang out with each other. It’s a really precious idea. But there’s not just fluff! Izuku finds himself in a fight, again. (cool villain quirk, too!) I love all of the small details that are in this fic (and in Crow’s other works, too!) anyway its exciting AND very heartwarming, so go read it!!!

The reactions he gets for that are not quite the ones he had anticipated - well, not all of them, at least. Toshi is LOVED, APPRECIATED, and 1A feels like HOME. how many times can i say “cute” and “heartwarming” on this post?? bc these are some amazing writers, whom I adore, and their writing makes my heart WARM. AND. FUZZY. i mean, even just the first few paragraphs of this one just, really sets the scene of what i like to believe the 1A dorm is (on a good day, lol). its a really nice read, so go treat yo’ self by reading it.

paint me in trust by dinomight Rating: G Category: Gen ~6,400 words Summary: The first mark Izuku gets is a slight brush of green across his temple. It’s the soft touch of a mother holding her son for the first time. Inko has one to match, the same shade of green staining the tips of her fingers. Hers is more noticeable; Izuku’s tends to blend into his hairline. He loves it anyways. He has to. It’s the only soulmate mark he has. (Or: how Izuku goes from just green to a rainbow, UA-style.) Ok, so this fic sort of plays off the idea of soulmates, and does not fit in with soulmates in the usual form of the trope. First off its completely platonic. Its categorized as Gen and sticks to that. Also it doesn’t seem to be as obligatory and permanent as you would think it would be. It seems to be more of the universe telling you who has the possibility of being important in your life. I really really loved this, it was so adorable and gives you that sweet, sweet Izuku angst, before healing your heart with the power of friendship and found family!!!

The Die Has Been Cast by ChiwiTheKiwi (tumblr: @chiwithekiwi ) Rating: G Category: Gen ~5,400 words Summary: “There’s something about that kid you aren’t telling me, isn’t there?”When no answer meets him, Shouta tries again.“You know something about Midoriya’s quirk that you haven’t shared with me. Is that right?”(Or: A canon "What If" surrounding the latest manga events and focusing on Aizawa finally making a connection.) First off, this fic has spoilers for the manga, so dont read unless you’re past chp212! I loooooooove OfA reveal fics, especially when it’s Aizawa that finds out. He deserves to know!!! its kind of important!!!! This fic chooses a great moment to work off of, and does a great job with Aizawa’s character. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t keep myself from going back and reading it just now LOL

Now that the actual recs are over I can rant here- look i really tried to slim my recs down, but i have almost 300 bnha fics bookmarked,some of them are “to read” or theyre in progress, etc but i managed to get this list sorta slimmed down? a little?(to only 58!!!) but as i was gathering this post together it felt like i dont have very many Dadmight recs on that list??? but i havent rechecked all the other fics i was just going through the oneshots. i... kinda read a lot more fics with AIzawa in it instead. it be that way. DadMight content is SO GOOD. but my fav is aizawa im sorryyyyy anyway i have another SEVENteeN oneshots to put in rec posts and that does NOT include the mulitchapter and friikin series and stuff... and like i said this is aaaaaaallllllllllllllll BnHA. batfam fic posts will come after, and then star wars, and then maybe star trek? we’ll see. i have a very specific taste in ST fics and that is Tarsus IV whump. which. i have not read in a while. when they say “that trope came from ST” for sooooooo many tropes, you WISH other fandoms had tarsus as a trope, holy crap it is TOP TIER angst fodder. if you love to write/read whump, angst, and h/c i would HIGHLY recommend that you take a bit of time and explore the content and stories there. heck maybe i will make a ficrec post for just tarsus angst. ok.

tbh... we have absolutely FAILED ppl with ea/ting disor.ders so fucking unimaginably bad, especially the visibly underweight ones. and we are still failing them to this day by avoiding valuable education out of discomfort and demonization. its genuinely appalling sometimes, to see just how Dangerously ignorant ppl are about this shit. bros listen 2 me rn. you are not a doctor, and you are Not going cure an ed with your almost laughably ignorant and malicious ‘reverse psychology’ bit where you call someone an ugly skeleton knocking on deaths door whos body needs to be banned from instagram forever, because you’re just ‘so scared theyre gonna die’ or w/e so you can legit pretend they dont exist, holy fucking Shit dude. that shame-and-shun tactic is so unbelievably dangerous. like, if you knew Anything REAL abt these disorders or frankly any mental health issues and cared enough to apply that then you would understand how thats just... pure cruelty. im sorry to be blunt but yeah this isnt a joke, it needs to be said that you are easily going to KILL SOMEONE with that kind of unfiltered uneducated IGNORANCE. it is inexcusably selfish, harmful, and ableist behavior, we have to stop this already.

ppl think refusing to ever let an underweight person feel pretty or love their body where they are at is what they need and will force them to recover, or they think giving them goals like ‘you’ll be so much happier with a bigger body’ and ‘keep going one day you wont look so sick’ is at all different than their own internal dialogue, when the Truth (that people need to fucking know by now!), is that shame with mental health is incredibly dangerous, eds are diverse but theyre most often rooted in starvation as a form of self harm from an unwavering self hatred and feeling of failure or lack of control, one they already have deeply ingrained and will usually feel at Any Size, which is why so many feel unsatisfied and keep going and going till they die. the answer to this problem isnt gonna be inflicting more fucking self hate or pressure. thats gasoline on a fire. you cannot just try and. UNO REVERSE CARD THE ~RULES~ OF THEIR FUCKING MENTAL DISORDER and expect RECOVERY... oh my god dude, please, id laugh out loud if this wasnt so malicious.

listen, if you wanna help, like actually Care about Helping the way you claim the root of your attitude is, you need to make that person feel like they can love themselves, not try to make them ‘realize’ how ‘bad’ they are and how uncomfortable and scared they make you and how Not Allowed their behavior is, bc 1. body dysmorphia is a delusion,,, denial is a common association with addictive/self destructive behaviors,,,, you are going about it wrong if thats the first thing you try to accomplish, and 2. whether you like it or not ‘bad’ is gonna be your first checkpoint! who would be motivated to get better when all you’re doing is giving them an already failing grade and pushing them back???

you’re all just... so paralyzed by ignorant fear every time you interact with someone with an ed bc you are so fucking detached from it as a concept, but you wont LEARN how to BEHAVE AROUND THESE PPL! eds are almost completely left out of communities for mental health these days. its seriously so disappointing. if you ACTUALLY ‘care’, then ok you need to swallow your pride and do better, you need to Listen and not let your personal discomforts (genuine triggers excluded!) with their appearance or behaviors get in the way of how humanized and committed your decent treatment of their disorder is. tbr, sometimes you arent just ‘concerned’ about a person, sometimes how you go about your feelings is rooted in your inner urge to validate your own discomforts with them, which means it might end up more about you than about them, which hurts them. i mean for the love of god, these ppl are not ‘irresponsible’ for existing around others with their ~unhealthy bodies~, they are not a walking trigger and cant be treated like one, they arent contagious, they will not benefit mentally from hearing you say you think they should be physically banned from posting selfies or w/e, that isolation WONT prevent eds from ~~~spreading~~~ and will severely harm the person in question, you are not making a heroic decision to try and bully them away to ‘save’ others from ever being around them or save them from being around an “enabling” (supportive recovery/not shameful) community. you are not ‘fixing’ them by making them hate their underweight bodies. you’re LITERALLY just ignorant and prejudiced and ableist, your ideas are actually Very harmful, you are not a savior, you are making it worse, plain and simple. modern au red/milo dump while i try to get myself together to answer asks nd work on ATJ:

(tw for alcohol mentions near the end, also this is an EXTREMELY long post, its so long that even after i split it into categorized sections each section could be its own post)

CLOTHING

milo absolutely has no sense of fashion. i feel like this is basically canon - for the styles at the time, he dresses fairly basic, mostly focused on looking put together for his job (definitely dresses aimed more towards how he would like to be treated by his peers, despite his actual position - then again our best example outside of the expedition is when he's about to deliver what he considers the most important presentation of his life, so who knows, maybe he usually dresses like a slob). aside from that his main concern seems like practicality and comfort. his wardrobe is dominated by earth tones - beiges and greens set with white and greys. all of that taken into account, i can see him dressing like this in a more modern era:

basically- a lot of cardigans, usually collared shirts or comfortable turtlenecks (since he does still occupy a research position at the smithsonian, even if only in title), big ol' coats, khakis and chinos and slightly stiff dress pants complete with ironed creases. i can see him wearing similar clothes outside work, just more comfortable - jeans and knitted shirts, henleys, more turtlenecks, and comfy cardigans over short sleeved shirts. i dont really see him wearing a lot of prints, i think he'd veer more towards solid clothes in lighter colors, but maybe he has a few. hes definitely the kind of guy to think of wearing the single graphic tee he owns as "bold and wild".

im very married to the idea of him wearing converse though. i cant explain it. milo in converse keeps me going in this world

hes kind of broke so i think maybe he got the converse secondhand maybe? or a gift of some kind. aside from the converse i can see him wearing a lot of oxfords and maybe wingtips

i want to see him in a hawaiian shirt so bad. i am losing it at this thought. he buttons it all the way up to his neck like someones awkward dad. milo wears a hawaiian shirt to "let loose". he wears it with like, khakis. or knee length jorts AHHHHDJHDSGJHDSJGh

a tie??? does he wear his hawaiian shirt with a tie???? does he think it makes it look cooler?????????? i am sobbing

red is the COMPLETE opposite. in the canon 1914 setting, red is already very rebellious for an AFAB person of their era- theyre openly a suffragette, they frequently refuse to wear skirts even in public and dress in mens clothes even before they were openly nonbinary, despite not being accepted into the male-dominated research fields and colleges they continue to educate themself with or without help, they purposely aim for an "unfeminine" silhouette when they dress, refuse to wear corsets, etc. (spoiler alert- there's a clear reason they get on so well with audrey in ATJ)

theyre also easily mistaken by people that didnt know them prior to their transition for being just a very small/young cis man- even though they canonically have a very soft "traditionally feminine" face

so basically, in any era theyre set into, red is always gonna aim to be ahead of the curve- both in their personal beliefs and practices and in their fashion. theyre also very androgynous in their clothes, although they tend to aim a bit more masculine (thats partially due to the era though, and having been forced into skirts exclusively for their entire life- i think in a modern setting where its more acceptable for AFABs to dress and act in a less hyperfeminine way, theyd be more okay with a fluidity in their gender presentation).

all that taken into account, i can see them dressing like this:

lots of baggy clothes, especially baggy jackets and shirts. they like loose fitting high waisted pants like JNCO jeans, cargo pants, etc but they arent averse to pencil legs. they rarely ever wear skinny jeans or drainpipes though. messy hair is a lifestyle for them- their haircut is definitely home-done

you know how in BICSTLY they used to have really long hair before they cut it? in a modern au i can see them impulsively doing the cut at like 3am and waking milo up at his door cause they screwed it up and he ends up having to help fix it (even though hes literally no better at cutting hair than them. worse even)

definitely have an undercut bob- bob on top, shaven on the bottom layer. they might end up growing their hair into a mullet at some point if they get bored. probably dyes their hair all the time out of boredom and then regrets it later and has to use dye remover.

lots of ripped tights and fishnets, leggings with big loose crop tops, big hoodies, safety pin jewelry and homemade jewelry. maybe some sticknpokes.

all that said, they still know how to dress in a professional situation. since its a modern au theres really nothing holding them back from the education and career they canonically want but cant get in the 1910s, so i imagine they would work at the smithsonian as well, maybe their father helped them get the job? potentially in that case they might be his assistant- after all, he trusts their opinion on artifacts more than anyone else's.

at work you can still very much see the punk/skater/grunge/goth style but its more understated- turtlenecks, high waisted and looser dress pants, lots of black, slightly unbuttoned collared shirts with a loose overcoat and no tie

since i elaborated on milos shoe taste i may as well elaborate on red's: they definitely wear converse as well, probably newer than milo's since their father is fairly wealthy and they can afford it. they also have a doc martens collection. they have a pair of demonias but they never wear them and milo is really the only person to even know they own them, let alone see them in them. they really dont like to wear heels much, but they own a few just to play around with. they have a bad habit of wearing any laced shoes untied, but they never trip over the laces. they also use lace code- their most-worn Docs have purple laces on the right foot and yellow on the left. some of their Docs have (reclaimed) pink laces.

has an extensive pin collection including feminism pins, anti-racism pins, punk-related pins, skater-related pins, and pop culture pins (80s music, modern music, old movies, etc)

MUSIC TASTE

milo's into a lot of older music- stuff from the 50s is his favorite. really into jazz and ballroom style stuff. his favorite band is queen, i think- he likes the old-fashioned sound, the jazz-chamber-ballroom influences, the diversity of their lyrics, and the complexity between the guitar riffs, the basslines, and freddie's vocal runs as well as the vocal harmonies.

sometimes he hums good old fashioned lover boy to red and they two-step in the living room in their pajamas :pleading:

also very into rush. yes, he is a rush guy :pensive:.

also listens to a surprising amount of lo-fi? he really likes stuff that remixes older music with hip hop and lofi elements, like earl grey. nearly exclusively into instrumental stuff but also very into louie zong. he listens to it while he works a lot.

knows a lotttt of foreign artists, especially niche ones. fuckin LOVES casiopea

red's spotify is a goddamn mess. everything from 2000s emo, to classic 70s punk, to post-punk and new wave, to 90s pop, to rap. they cant be easily classified at all

their favorite bands are oingo boingo, prince, queen (they listen to a lot of their harder-rock music, but milo knows theyre into the ballads too. theyll never tell anyone else though), doja cat, lil nas, fall out boy, and billie eilish.

red recites the intro monologue to lets go crazy very seriously to make milo laugh, sometimes. they get very into it with their facial expressions. sometimes it devolves into a full air guitar/keyboard/drum and wild dancing session. milo does not know how to participate in this but he loves watching them have fun with it. sometimes they pull him off the couch to make him dance with them, though

they are a huge sucker for dark pop, vaporwave, retrowave, EDM, hip hop, emo, punk... etc etc. anything that combines any two or more of those genres in an original or interesting way gets their attention right away

there's a lot of sharing between the two of them- even though their music tastes are so different, they like a lot of the others taste, and theyre always up to listen to whatever their partner is playing.

red is a huge softie, and milo has found them more than once listening to or humming something he was playing for them the other day because it reminded them of him

speaking of which- in the 1914 canon, red can play piano. i think that carries over to a modern au, where they could play piano and by extension keyboard. i like to think they experiment with a lot of instruments but i doubt they ever really mastered any others. maybe theyre okay at drums or bass?

they learned to play and sing teo torriatte for milo, as a surprise. when they first performed it for them, they had everything set up for when he got home from work- the lights were dimmed, they had candles lit around the keyboard, they draped stuff in cloth to make it look pretty, they scattered flower petals around. when milo walked in and saw it all, he almost proposed then and there- the only thing that stopped him was that he would kick himself for the rest of his life if he did that without a ring.

HOBBIES/ACTIVITIES

milo is still an avid chess player in this, but i like to think hes in some kind of groupchat or text or discord server for it. he doesnt necessarily consider any of the others in the chat close friends, but he does know them all by name

he tries to get red into chess but they never really get it

he tells them all about the stuff that goes down in the games and they just. do not understand. but they love listening to him get excited about it anyway

"red you're not gonna BELIEVE this, eddie played an italian game on star today! i thought for sure she would see through it since everyone knows it but she slipped and he beat her in like, 13 moves! i wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt been there!"

red is a skater and a regular at the skate park by the smithsonian

most regulars there know them by name, they can spot a newbie a mile away

they have a sticker of a broken tv with a skull inside of it on the underside of their board, its become recognized as a symbol of them unofficially

since theyre so regular and have been going there a lot longer than most of the other skaters that frequent the place, a lot of what they say is kind of just accepted as the rules

they have a bad habit of lecturing new kids who show up without knee/elbow pads or helmets at the very least. all the other skaters enforce it too. kids dont end up showing up without protective gear very often after their first visit

they brought a first aid kid and left it there and everyone has kept it stocked pretty well without them having to have much input. its kind of just a communal first aid kit

they once drew the broken tv symbol on the inside of a half-pipe and everyone started calling it red's ramp after that

they also started calling the bowl at the center of the park the Soup Bowl and now thats just accepted as the name. some of the newer kids genuinely thought that it was called that by the park and were shocked when they found out it was just a random nickname red gave it one day

theyve brought milo a few times but hes extremely awkward on his feet and could never really get his balance on a skateboard, and quite frankly red is afraid of what might happen if he tried even a low ramp, so he usually just sits at the rim of the bowl while red skates around

everyone knew he was their boyfriend before they even met him. a few of the regulars called him by name right away. one of them was certain red had brought him before.

aside from skateboarding, red is pretty good on rollerskates/blades

they tried to take milo to a roller rink once but it was a disaster and they ended up going home, changing into pajamas, ordering chinese food, and marathoning movies till they fell asleep on the couch together. so not a total loss

theyre both very into movies. red is deep into horror and milo likes indie/art movies and just Cannot handle horror at all, but they both agree on old movies, from the 80s and 90s to like the 30s.

red has shown milo some of the classic horror movies and the niche old ones (from like the 40s) since theyre not difficult to stomach

every so often when red brings up wanting to see a horror movie milo is like "aw babe we can watch that tonight i promise it wont be bad" and he genuinely thinks he can handle it this time

it is always a lie

red ends up holding him every time and talking him to sleep, but it thankfully never causes like a major panic attack or anything like that

they love going to museums together, of all kinds. they love art museums. they also go to aquariums and aviaries

sometimes they like to go to other history museums and criticise the veracity or accuracy of exhibits/translations, all in good fun of course. theyre never actually being mean about it

they both used to work at starbucks, when they were younger and before they worked at the smithsonian. they worked at separate stores 2 blocks from each other.

milo cant stand soda or carbonated drinks, red can and will chug a java monster in order to survive a long workday if they must. milo is constantly concerned for their health and wellbeing

they r both lightweights when it comes to drinking. they can split a six pack and both be falling-over drunk by the end of the night.

given the changes in beauty standards people DEFINITELY think milo is more attractive than they would in 1914. cmon. hes a lil twinky nerd. you think people wont eat that up?

red meets audrey online cause they both yell at the same misogynistic asshole on twitter

they exchange discord names in the replies of the tweet and tell the guy not to interrupt them while theyre talking in his replies

i like to think red and milo are selected to go on an academic visit to atl/antis (to learn about the culture, with permission of the king), and audrey ends up as the mechanic on the ship during the visit and theyre like (spiderman pointing meme) at each other

red and audrey have so many inside jokes that they basically speak a different language. milo gets some of the terms from context and pop culture (they use "so very" in real life- as in "wow, that shirt is so very.") but he is hopeless to learn all of it

one of their inside jokes is any variation of "milo hot girl summer" and they REFUSE to explain it to him no matter how much he begs

milo wears that iconique tank top on the ship and they say it literally any time he bends over, picks anything up, reaches for anything, moves, BREATHES. he is bewildered and at this point concerned

(in truth, the joke came from red taking a really blurry picture of him in a short sleeve shirt where he looked pretty cute and captioned it "milo's having a hot girl summer rn" and they just could not stop repeating it once audrey met him IRL)

they have a minecraft world. i do like to believe that every so often vinny finds a way in- theyre never sure how- and griefs the shit out of them by blowing up EVERY. monument.
