This is how trilogies are SUPPOSED TO WORK!

Think abt the first 3 star wars, lotr, hell even hungergames!!

First movie is your introduction to these characters and world, and might cap off with its own small self contained "happy ending", the death star is destroyed, katniss wins and saves peetah, they stop kingpin and miles feels confident as spiderman

movie two is ALWAYS where shit hits the fan and we end on the *lowest point*, Han is frozen and luke looses his hand, frodo is led into the spiders den, the games fall apart and katniss looses peetah, Miles is Trapped On Earth-42 with no escape and the multiverse is crumbling

its been so fucking long since weve gotten a proper film Trilogy not trying to weave itself into an expanded cinematic universe where you gotta watch 2 seasons and another movie before part 2 dont Forget that Three is the magic number and this is how trilogies Work

One of my absolutely favourite things about Across the Spiderverse, other than the amazing sound and visuals, is the small little metaphorical forshadowing we get.

My person favourite is the cakes. When Jefferson and Rio are talking to Miles's teacher, she tells them that Miles "wants to have his cake and eat it too" which is impossible and Miles bursts in and says "unless you have two cakes." And it's such a subtle way to hint that Miles has conflicting intreasts, and that's his biggest issue. He wants to be Spider-man, but he doesn't want to sacrifice the people he cares about. And in case you think I'm grasping at straws here, they do more with the cake when Miles literally decides to buy two cakes for his dad because he cannot fit the writing on one, but by the time he gets home after doing all his Spider-manning both cakes are destoryed. It's forshadowing not only to the fact that Miles desperately wants both things equally, but by trying to have both of them, he's going to cause detrimental damage.

The idea of having things in double is a general reoccurring theme in ATPV. We see it with the cakes, and we see it when Miles and Pav talk about Chai-tea, and Miles tells the spot not to call it an "ATM Machine" because M means Machine. The constant reference to the unnecessary repetition is almost representing the duality of being Spider-man and how taking on that role means making sacrifices and potentially harming your normal life, but it's also forshadowing to the fact that in the end, we have two Miles's. We have Spider-man Miles and Prowler Miles.

Things in this movie come in doubles and I absolutely fucking love it 😭

You know I find it funny that after ATSV I see a lot of posts that say something like "omg Gwen is both girlboss and a loser at the same time" or "she's both the coolest and so cringe" because this is exactly how Miles sees her after the movie. He idolised her in the first movie (not just her but all of their friends too) until things didn't work out as perfectly as the last time. Which is exactly why it's good that most of the movie was from her perspective because no she's not a girlboss and she's not the coolest and she's also not a loser nor cringe - she's literally normal. She can mess up just like Miles and she can win just like Miles and her life can be awful just like Miles' life can be and her life can also be great just like Miles' and everyone else's. Like in Miles' introduction scene in ATSV he's messing up big time whenever he tries to defeat a villain and no one in Brooklyn takes him seriously but later when he's fighting Miguel he wins.

Gwen is just a normal person (just like Miles) and people forget that. They divide characters simply in good or bad but most of them (not all but most) are just realistic characters because even with superpowers they're humans just like all of us. And it's totally up to you if you're gonna like them or not.
