It's about no matter what she does she gets unfairly criticized, when other celebrities aren't doing jack shit for the cause, but we're not hearing a peep of criticism about them. Have u heard Emilia Clarke make a statement? No, criticize her. Not the person who is actually doing something. It's bullying.

a/n: very internal monologue heavy on kylos end, but hey, he’s got things to internally monologue about. next chapter is our girl Amicea who I have “casted” as Emilia Clarke in her role of Daenerys from GOT, i’ve taken some inspiration from that roll, but i’m hoping not too much. I forgot too, this is pre TFA so kylo is pretty conflicted here as the dark side is new to him. Enjoy!

II. Kylo

On board the Supremacy, Kylo feels unease. People scramble out of his path without him even sparing a glance. He thinks that this is what power feels like, he thinks that this is the way to restoring what came before and righting the wrongs he has faced. While he creates unease around him, this ship is the one place where he feels closest to what a home should be.

“Prepare my ship.” He orders to a nearby lower officer. He’s heard unsettling rumors about his bride to be, and he intends to settle them himself. On the way down to the planets surface, he thinks of his mother. His intended, Amie- No, Amer- no, Amicea, that’s it, reminds him so much of her, and it drives him up a wall, and opens the gaping canyon that is his conflict by at least ten feet every time she speaks.

But all this thinking does nothing to prepare him for the sight of her. She’s sitting in the lesser of the two throne rooms, on a beige stone bench, reading. Her attire has changed since he last saw her. She’s abandoned her white gown for a black one, draping across her sides. He almost thinks its poetic, how she's abandoned her light for the black. He almost thinks its funny, because he can tell the black dress doesn’t mean she’s convinced of the order, almost like how his mask can hide his own uncertainties. Just almost though. 

“Your Majesty.” He addressed her, he didn’t bow, and he could hear his mother's incessant nagging in the back of his mind. 

“Your excellency.” She stood, and set her book on the bench beside her. “I heard you were on your way down.” She smirked, she still looked at him with distrust, and Kylo realizes she is less of a fool than her advisers make her out to be. The last time he was here, he saw her with others, she was warm and welcoming. Her family sigil is a bright phoenix, and around her handmaidens and friends, they seemed to be wrapped in the bird’s fire. But to him, he felt like a shriveled flower in the winter, waiting for the sun to drape over him. He longed for something of substance, not just the empty that the Supreme Leader expected of him.

“I’ve heard unsettling rumors.” He began, he thought he saw her eyes roll but that could’ve been the light, or at least that’s what he was going to tell himself. “About a visit you received from a New Republic pilot.” 

“Ah yes, Commander Dameron.” He was taken aback by her honesty. She was hiding a smile, that same smile that bathed others in love, the smile he wished he knew. She began to walk to a small table with wine glasses. “He came to beg me not to marry you. Wine?” She offered. Kylo stumbled, he expected lies.

“No, thank you.” He was thankful for the mask in these moments. “Why is that?” He watched as she picked up her glass. 

“We’re old friends, and he’s loyal to the New Republic.” She shrugged and took a drink. There was more to that answer, but Kylo knew not to push, at least not for now. She sat back down at a table in the corner, and gestured for him to join her. He obliged and sat across from the young queen. “Is that all, Commander Ren?” 

“Yes.” He made eye contact with her. They were blue, like the calm seas of Chandrila, where he was born, no, he stopped himself, where Ben Solo was born. Ben Solo is dead. He reminded himself. “Do you have anything for me, Your Majesty?” 

“No, but if you’d like, you can join us for dinner tonight, it’ll be a private affair, just my closest advisers and you.” She leaned towards him in her chair. “It’ll be terribly boring but I’m willing to bet the foods better down here.” She joked, and a smile spread across her face. She was trying. 

“I will have to make sure I’m not needed on the Supremacy. But that sounds nice.” Ben smiled under his mask. She stood, and smoothed her skirt. He stood as well, he knew at the very least that was the respectful thing to do. 

“I’ll see you at dinner then, Commander.” She turned to make her exit.

“Majesty.” He bid goodbye, and he bowed his head ever so slightly. He thought she was all the way around and she hadn’t noticed. But she did. 

Kylo was shown to a set of rooms to make a private transmission to the Supreme Leader. He took his mask off, and laid it at his feet, and bent at the knee as the hologram came alive.

“What news do you bring?” The beast growled at him.

“She was contacted by the pilot, she didn’t seem to know he’s pledged himself to the Rebels.” Kylo said as fast as he could, like a beaten dog preparing for the lashing. 

Snoke paused. “What else, my apprentice?” 

“She’s invited me to stay for her private dinner.” His voice shook when he said it, he cleared his throat and held his breath. 

“Good..” The Supreme Leader croaked. “We need her to trust you. To follow you. Go to her measly dinner. We need you two wed.” 

“Yes Supreme Leader.” He bowed his head, sensing an end to the conversation, he began to place his helmet back on. 

“She must not know the truth about herself before she is yours.” With that, the Leader was gone, and Kylo let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. He began to wander around the private rooms he had been given, they were covered in colorful art. His black robes created such a contrast and he felt like he didn’t belong in a place so full of light. He didn’t feel he belonged anywhere, but at least aboard the ships, he could blend in, and look the part of the menacing commander. He walked to the edge of the room, just before the balcony. He’s sweating, and he hasn’t stepped outside. It's still early autumn on Adrora, and the sun is still burning as hot as ever. He knew their summers were short, but the heat was enough for full planet’s cycle.

He turns into the bedroom, and there’s things folded on the bed. He picks them up with gloved hands and realizes what they are. Men’s clothes. Black still, but made of much lighter fabric, the matching trousers folded neatly under. He toys with the idea, and eventually decides to change. He picks up a handwritten note that falls from the stack.

While I understand the statement, I’m afraid you’re a bit overdressed. I’ll see you at dinner. - a

He runs his hand over the writing a few times, and folds the note, hiding it in the helmet he decides to leave behind tonight. He keeps his saber clipped to his belt, and heads for the door to the hall. He runs a hand through his black hair a few times, trying to keep it tamed. Kylo stares in the mirror. He feels like Ben Solo, and he should be discouraging it. 

But surrounded by so much color, he thinks maybe it’s not such a bad thing for right now.

To All the Characters I’ve Overly Identified with Before: Borderline Personality Disorder and Attachment to Fictional Characters

It’s been a month, and I’m still not over how Game of Thrones ended. I’m still not over the way that a character who, throughout the previous seventy something episodes of the show, was only ever ruthless towards people who were deserving of her wrath (within the context of westerosi justice because let’s not forget everyone’s favourite man of honour Ned Stark decapitated a young man for running for his life in the first episode), suddenly massacred a whole city in the penultimate episode. I’m not over the way that writers who spent the previous seasons showing that they were capable of translating the moral ambiguity of George R.R Martin’s characters from page to screen, got lazy and left us with a character whose actions became impossible to defend right as the show was ending. I’m not over the way that such a beautifully complex character who endured so much hurt and trauma was reduced to nothing more than a “crazy woman” by a couple of male writers in her final moments. I’m not over the fact that Emilia Clarke put her heart and soul into the character and did everything she could to bring Daenerys Targaryen to life for David Benioff and Dan Weiss to both literally and figuratively assassinate her.

I think those feels have been felt by a lot of Game of Thrones fans since the show ended. God knows I’ve watched enough youtube video essays and read enough articles and liked enough tweets reiterating the sentiment. Daenerys Targaryen was, in my opinion, the best character on Game of Thrones. I wasn’t angry because she didn’t end up sitting on the throne (though my boy Drogon made sure nobody else ever would either and I guess I can get behind that), I was angry because all the balance that made her character so great was thrown out the window in order to progress the story of her male counterpart and bring a show that probably could’ve done with another 2 seasons to an end. Dany has always had a dark side, she is the “fire” that the title of the book series refers to, but throughout the show, we’ve never seen her indulge that side to the point of no return. We’ve seen her wrestle with it and use it to exact punishment on those who deserve it when needs be, and that was part of what I liked about her. Not to go all feminist essay on anyone’s ass but we don’t usually get to see women in TV who are celebrated for their powers of intimidation, and I liked how prior to season 8, the narrative never made female characters like Dany or Arya or Brienne out to be monsters for killing people the same way that basically every single man on the show did at one point or another. I liked that sometimes she was a little excessive because it made sense, she did have “dragon” in her, and she still had lines she wouldn’t cross, clear values and principles; she fought for the innocent, for women and for children, and for freedom. On a personal level, I loved her because we watched her go from a lonely, scared and vulnerable girl to a strong, ambitious and self-assured woman and that was a trajectory I wanted to relate to.

And then all of a sudden, without any justification or build up at all, she’s a mass murderer of the same “downtrodden” people she always claimed to fight for. Fuck, I’m thinking. I literally watched that episode through my hands because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. When I say I cried on and off for about 3 days after I watched the final episode, I’m not exaggerating; I only need to see a screen cap now a month later or an interview with Emilia Clarke and I’m off again. It literally felt as if I was mourning the loss of a real person. But this isn’t the first time I’ve had this kind of attachment to a character. Daenerys Targaryen was probably just the last in a long list of women I overly identified with.

I’m not much like her at all really, I’ve burnt myself from taking the film off my microwaved lasagne and not moving my thumb away from the hot air in time (lmao), however, I think I saw parts of myself in her journey and traits that I wanted to have, thus, I latched on. Before Daenerys Targaryen there was Spencer Hastings and before her there was Cassie Ainsworth and then if we’re gonna throw it all the way back, there was Hermione Granger (and some other characters I was more mildly obsessed with along the way, Katniss Everdeen, Bree Van de Kamp and Cosima Niehaus, I’m looking at you). I still love all those characters now but when their respective shows or films were actually current, I was completely obsessed. I spent my 16th birthday at the Harry Potter studios on the outskirts of London with my family, forget birthday parties or meals out with my friends. I wished more than anything that I had 2 best friends that loved me unconditionally and I did my best to emulate that drive and intelligence and work ethic everyone associates with Hermione. I told myself I was just like her even though I lacked the confidence to put my hand up in all but one of my classes and last time I checked, was just trying to conquer GCSEs not fight an evil wizard snaked hybrid man or whatever Voldemort is.  I identified with the loneliness and the need for control that I saw in Cassie, and was like “oH eM GeE, tHat’s sO mE!” at Spencer’s perfectionism. When I was speeding for my exams (and then, unfortunately, for long after), I felt spiritually connected to that whole Pretty Little Liars arc where Spencer started popping adderall on the daily even though I could really only wish for someone to care about me enough to stalk me like A did and the worst possible outcome of my all nighter was not taking in enough content to bullshit my way through a 30 marker.

They would understand me, they would be my friend. They represent me. That was the baseline sentiment of my obsession. And I think that’s the borderline part of me jumping out. See, such a huge part of BPD is feeling unwanted and misunderstood and forgettable and really, deeply lonely.  Like it’s a kind of loneliness I think you feel like an actual person can never really fulfil because the (faulty and not necessarily reflective of reality) thought pattern is that they’ll lose interest and leave you sooner or later. Fictional characters are always there, until the show gets cancelled or the character gets killed off, at least, and then comes the completely disproportionate tidal wave of grief. They exist in a different world too, a one that feels a lot less dangerous (even if it’s actually way more dangerous, I mean I really wouldn’t last five fucking minutes in Westeros) and detached from the often chronically muted reality of BPD.

Then there’s the trouble with the sense of self, part and package of BPD for most, which facilitates, you know, thinking that a genius witch or, like, any character in skins (because in hindsight as great as that show was, WHY DO NONE OF THEM HAVE JOBS YET SEEMINGLY AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF DRUGS AND PARENTS THAT NEVER SEEM TO CARE WHERE THE HELL THEY ARE!?) resembles you as a person in any way. Though I suppose I’m learning recently as I begin to reflect more on what I enjoy and value, I’ve never had much more than a vague idea of what my positive qualities are, so when I saw them fully realised in a character it was a treasure trove of mannerisms and traits and ways of carrying oneself to adopt. It becomes a mould into which you can squeeze the ball of meh-ness and uncertainty you feel you resemble. Now I’m realising that although it might take me a little more time and a lot more effort, it’s much more rewarding to become the very best version of myself, but back then, I suppose I didn’t recognise why I was doing what I was doing. 

I only got diagnosed with BPD and started learning about it when it was 19, so all the years before that were pretty much spent unaware of the reasons why I had these quirks. As I “recover” (I suppose that’s the right word) and I get back into hobbies and spend more time with friends, I feel like I’m beginning to discover more and more of who I am. I’m starting to accept that there are positive things about me and plenty of things for people to like, right here in this world, not some fictional one.

I still love characters way too much and get overly attached and invested in TV shows but even that doesn’t necessarily have to be something to be ashamed of. When I’ve got into *ahem* discussions with people online about characters before, I’ve occasionally gotten the “why do you care so much, it’s not real life!” in response, and I mean, there’s definitely a point to be made if your passion for something is causing you to lash out at real life people with real life feelings. But when you’re not, when it can give you hours of discussion and entertainment and can drive you to make real positive changes in the world too, what’s wrong with passion? There’s nothing I love more than having a conversation with someone who I can tell really loves what they’re talking about, so why should I be ashamed of having the capacity to become deeply invested in things too? I think as long as it’s not taking over my life as I have allowed it to do so in the past, there’s nothing wrong with having passion for fictional things or for anything, for that matter. As long as it’s not something fucked up, like idk, white supremacy or Rick and Morty (JOKING). 

I don’t regret loving all the things I loved because being a huge Harry Potter fan for so many years did give me an escape when I absolutely hated myself and couldn’t find much enjoyment in real life. I hope that if I do have children one day, they’ll love it too, maybe not quite as much as I did but enough for it to give them all the joy it gave me, all the same. So in summary, yeah, fuck David Benioff and Dan Weiss (lmao, I’m joking, they’re just shitty original screenplay writers who could probably do with a class or two on how to write female characters), but also, understand before you make fun of someone for being overly invested in something that there’s probably a good reason for it and that, at the end of the day, they’re usually not hurting anyone. I’ll probably still be stanning Daenerys Targaryen and pretending season 8 episode 5 didn’t happen until the day I die. Let me live, okay?

Is Sharon Carter a skrull?

Sharon explains following the events of Captain America : Civil War she went underground her country was after her and her friends abandoned her. She found a new life in Madripoor. 

Sam Wilson and Bucky Barns were dragged to Madripoor by Baron Zemo they were under the impression that he could connect them with the Power Broker. This mysterious criminal puppet master supposedly set up the Flag-smashers with a new super-serum.

Throughout the season Sharon creeps on the sidelines through her dubious, unnamed connections she helps Sam and Bucky track both the Flag-smashers and the new gone rogue Captain America John Walker.  

In the series finale we the audience fnd out that Sharon is the Power Broker but Bucky and Sam don’t know. In the mid-credits for her seemingly helpful role in apprehending the Flag-smashers, the United States government finally pardons Sharon Carter of her illegal actions during Captain America : Civil War. They also offer to reinstate her as a CIA operative and she accepts. 

As Sharon leaves the courthouse she makes a phone call she instructs the unknown individual to ‘start lining up our buyers’. 

To understand Sharon’s decent into Power Broker status we have to believe that Steve Rogers never checked in with her. 

There is two options : 

1. Sharon Carter is now a villian she’s enraged at how she was discarded and her years in the wild sharpened her cynicism. The other person on the phne during The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s mid-credits stinger is Justin Hammer. With Tony Starkdead Hammer’s closer than ever to achieving supremacy as an immortal arms dealer. 

2. Sharon Carter is not Sharon Carter. Sharon Carter is a Skrull. Secret Invasion is a prevalent comic book storyline involving a global skrull takeover. As shape shifter the aliens infiltrate critical roles within all major governments and super-powered teams.   

The person Sharon is chatting to in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the already rumored Olivia Colman or Emilia Clarke. They’re arranging their chessboard, waiting to strike so they can control the planet with as little fuss as possible. They want the war to be over before it starts.

I can hear some of you, “But wait, aren’t the Skrulls good guys?” Skrulls aren’t good or bad. They’re a people, like us poor Terrans. So far in the MCU, we’ve met some friendly Skrulls in Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and his clan. They’re buddy-buddy with Nick Fury and Carol Danvers, but some of his compatriots are less chummy. Remember, as explained in Captain Marvel, the Skrulls are on the brink of extinction. Eons of war have decimated their numbers and made them desperate. They need a home, and Earth sure looks nice in places.

Sharon Carter, as a Skrull, works. It doesn’t forgive all the flaws found within The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it does decode the logical leaps her character takes. Even better, Sharon Carter as a Skrull makes me feel okay about Steve Rogers. The OG Captain America would not have left Sharon hanging in the wind. I refuse to believe it.

For a franchise that has recently made strides to manufacture its villains with recognizable, understandable motivations, a mustache-twirling Sharon Carter lands with a thud. As part of an alien race willing to do anything to halt their species’ eradication, Skrull Sharon Carter sits nicely next to Baron Zemo, Thanos, and Killmonger. They’re baddies with a point. Let’s, please, give Sharon Carter a point.

Solo: A Movie Review

Ya know, Solo ended up being a little more of an interesting experience than I thought it would.  There were highs, and lows, and hidden Easter Eggs for fans; John Powell's score was pretty solid, and the action sequences were fun.  When it comes down to it for me, I am never going to see Harrison Ford in Alden Ehrenreich's, and you may call that nit-picking, but whatever.  Aside from that you can tell Ehrenreich spent the time trying to bring Han's mannerisms, wit, smirks, and self-confidence into the role, and I can appreciate that effort.

The way Han and Chewy meet should be pleasing to fans as the premise didn't change from what has long been known about these characters' histories.  Han, a member of the Imperial Navy, deserts with an enslaved Wookie, and up until now we only had comics and Extended Universe novels to see that play out.  It was great seeing Chewy get so physical, but it should be no surprise either.  If we're going to get chronological with this, the last time we have seen Chewy prior to Solo: A Star Wars Story was on the shoreline on Kashyyyk, at the end of Episode III.  So not only do we know that he has no love for the Empire, but he's a proficient warrior as well. 

I'll go into these two a little more if we talk about it on the show, but overall, I think the relationship between Han and Chewy developed in a believable and genuine way.

The other thing about Star Wars has always been the ability to personify inanimate objects, making them essential characters in the process.  Anakin's Lightsaber, for example, which was tossed around, and anticlimactically destroyed in The Last Jedi —many Star Wars themes were destroyed in The Last Jedi— had been an important relic of in the franchise, since 1977.  The Millennium Falcon is no different. 

It is always great to see the Falcon because it never disappoints. It's always going to be that same nocked-coin shape; it's propulsion systems are always going to rev up with a familiar high squeal, resulting in a blast of bright blue plasma; and, like our favorite droids, will always be back at the end of the film, in good working order, no matter how beat up it gets along the way.

Which brings me to some of my lows:

L3, Lando's droid that won't shut up about Equal Rights for Robots.   

Whoever programmed this droid to be such a stick in the mud was a sadistic son of a bitch.  It's one thing to listen to an alien creature complain about being low man on the social totem pole; it's another thing to listen to a droid, whose personality was programmed into them, complain about droids being made to fight each other in cage combat.  I was GIDDY when this thing got blown to bits, but nothing compared to watching Lando struggle to drag the torso of L3 across the battlefront as if it were a scene from Platoon —it read more like Tropic Thunder.  And this is why C-3P0 and R2 were always kept firmly within the realm of comic relief—they're droids! 

How many times as 3PO been torn limb from limb, only to return at the end of every episode, reassembled and shined up like new?  As L3 and Lando had their Forrest Gump/Bubba  Vietnam moment, was anyone else thinking to themselves...uh, just keep L3's head and you'll be able to get her all fixed up.  I'm sitting there saying to myself, "What the fuck am I watching right now?"  The kids sitting next to us were laughing, too.  

Which brings me to my last point, for now—and it's not even really a "low":

Lando.  Donald Glover did a fine job. I had always envisioned what those games of Sabacc between Lando and Han were like— the card games that lead to the Han and Chewy winning the Falcon.  Lando's still the same style-obsession, self-assured swindler, and I loved it.  But you now what?  Aside from coming on to the gorgeous Emilia Clarke, Glover's character never showed more sexual interest in anything or anyone in the way he was interested in money and status.

Which leaves me to a new recurring Star Wars/Disney point:

Why on earth did Jonathan Kasdan say what he said about Lando's "pan-sexuality"?  Why can't these people help themselves? 

Before the release of Rogue One, writer, Chris Weitz, felt the need to get onto Twitter and draw lines of comparison between the Empire and White Supremacy and our newly election President, Donald Trump.  He wanted people to go into the theaters paying special attention to how the Rebellion was a multicultural force, lead by strong womynz.  So, naturally, people get pissed off and wary of the release, which is unfortunate because Solo wasn't anywhere near the cinematic disaster that was The Last Jedi.  So, why are any of these Social Justice public service announcements necessary, or allowed?  Why do they do this?  It's a huge part of the reason why the franchise is going to continue to drop off and wither on the vine—the numbers on Solo and the mum reviews should be a telling sign in itself. 

The reviews aren't even that bad, but there's just no juice for it... Perhaps if Disney had more than half of the people who gave life to Star Wars in the first place still on board, this would be a much different outcome?

To me, It's one thing to accept that Star Wars is controlled by Disney, which is controlled by a gaggle of progressives who can't allow themselves to create something for all people to enjoy.  It comes through in their plot-lines, their characters arcs, their casting, and the promotion therein.  It brings the conversation to a whole other level when they actually do a decent job (Solo & Rogue One) for fans and these freak-show writers still can't control themselves enough as to refrain from giving people viewing instructions when they watch the film.

He was a Ravenclaw like she had been but her brother was different, he wanted to stand for something completely against what she did, completely different then her parents had raised them to. They day that he took the Dark Mark was the day that Emmeline vowed to never speak to him again. He had been her best friend and greatest companion but looking at him that day it was as if she had no idea of the man that he had become. She walked away and never looked back. The day of her own graduation she too made a decision, a decision to fight against her brother and the other followers and everything that they stood for. She refused to let them win because Emmeline Vance was too damn stubborn to admit defeat. She had decided that she would take her winning attitude and put it on the good side, the side that she wanted to win the war. It was no secret that she was great witch and she knew that she would make one hell of an asset.
