do you ever look at an elderly person and see the wrinkles on their face and realize they’ve survived every hardship life has thrown at them. it is such a triumph to grow old.

everytime i see some woman in her early twenties post a tiktok with that aging filter with some caption saying something along the lines of "oh i look so fucking ugly this filter makes me upset, i cant belive this is what im gonna look like, im gonna do everything in my power to make sure i dont grow up to be this fucking disgusting and gross" i get so angry and so so fucking upset. this whole trend right now of anti aging is just so fucking heartbreaking as a girl. so many women have been conditioned to think that ageing is the worst thing a girl can do and they need to buy all these lotions and use a special straw and . fucking never smile or laugh or squint or sleep in a comfortable position because hey, did you know that sleeping on your side can make your face go ever so slightly lopsided over time, and you wouldn't want that to make you ugly, would you?
and i genuinely feel so sad for these woman who are genuinely depressed at the idea that they might one day, shock and horror, AGE? because people have taught them that the only value they have is being pretty and young and flawless and beautiful because thats the only thing that matters as a woman and being old and wrinky isnt pretty, didnt you know? but at the same time it is so fucking rage inducing to see people fully succumb to this mindset and post openly about how much they hate the idea of being old and ugly and posting the things that theyre doing to desperately try and avoid this unavoidable fate because we are actively seeing another generation of young girls, preteens, get groomed into believing this mindset that is so unhealthy nd so so harmful.
do u know how fucking sad it is to see videos of 14 year old girls post their 15 step skincare routine featuring products that are so chemically harsh that theyve been following since they were 12.
this is what its like being a little girl nowadays. that is so fucking depressing

I cant wait to get old and get wrinkles and moles and smile lines and a bad hip or two because it means I’ve lived, I’ve walked, I’ve dreamed, I’ve smelled flowers and petrol and I’ve read books and I’ve cried and I’ve hated people and people have loved me and I’ve loved some of them back. My proof of living, of life, is written on my face. Maybe not all of it ive been happy for, but all of it ive lived through.

cannot understand the anti-aging mindset because i can't fathom being upset about something called smile lines. also because old people are cool and i think my great grandma is awesome.

Anti aging culture is abelist
I don't get to grow old.
I can't afford that bullshit anyway.
I won't get to see my smile lines that prove I was a happy person.
I won't experience the gift of age.
I'll never get to look in the mirror in 70 years and see that I am alive and thriving.
I'd be beyond grateful to grow old.
Because it's more than some wrinkles. It's proof I survived.

anti-aging trends freak me the fuck out. i think people should be allowed to do whatever they want with their body, but it crosses a line when it's being pushed onto others. telling people, whether implicitly or explicitly, that they should be ashamed of wrinkles, sagging skin, crow's feet, skin spots, and other common physical signs of aging is so wrong. like i said i do not care what you do to your own body. i fully support you actually! i do care if you try to push insecurities and products onto other people because you believe they're more "beautiful" if they look young.
i am horrified with how these trends are targeting younger and younger kids. i know a lot of people like to make fun of "sephora kids" but do you even consider why they do that. they're being constantly fed this idea that they need to look extremely young with perfectly clear skin no matter what. i would be stressed and lashing out if i was being told that too! i would be scared if i was simultaneously told about things like acne, and also told that acne meant that i wasnt young and pure and worthy anymore (also anti aging targeting things like acne, which are mostly associated with puberty, is fucked up as well. that's a whole other can of guinea pigs though).
there's always been weird shit with aging. people have always been odd about every phase of growing up from puberty to becoming elderly. however, now it just seems like all that has skyrocketed. anti aging sentiments are so much stronger than they were even a few years ago and it's getting worse for sure.

HI I AM A MAN AND THIS POST HAS MY ICKY MAN-GERMS ALL OVER IT!! OOOH IM A MALE WHO WEARS EARRINGS AND HAS LONG HAIR
do these tiktok teens roll up to the family event and tell their great-aunt that she needs to get botox??? tell their mom she needs anti-wrinkle cream??? like just how far removed from reality and deep into "anti-aging fyp" do you have to be before someone in your family smacks you for being a rude little shit lmao
i know most of us with common sense are confused by or laughing at the whole Anti-Aging thing but its just so insane to me. like, really how does this affect their day to day life? do they look at their older cousins or their aunts who may have smile lines or forehead wrinkles and see someone "ugly"?
literally everyone in my family over the age of 25 has some kind of balding, wrinkles, disability, spots, sagging, etc... all healthy people! (who thankfully weren't overworked or decades)
like i just cant imagine looking at my grandmother's face, someone who has lived a life of every emotion possible, had her perfect white-picket-fence life and then had it removed from her, faced unimaginable loss and loneliness, but also loved and been loved by such a large family for decades.... seeing all of this in the lines on her face, and be like, "well she'd look better if she got plastic surgery for those wrinkles" ???????? i cant fathom having those thoughts. how the fuck do they function around other people.

Why are people so scared of aging? I can't wait to age. I love to laugh and to smile and to cry and I can't wait until people can see it on my face. I can't wait until all the things I've learned are etched into my skin. I can't wait until I have lived so hard that my skin sags and my hair turns gray. I want to live every moment of my life so that you can see it on my body.
Why would you want to go through life feeling nothing, just so that you can look like a dead body preserved in a freezer? Why do you fear that people will stop loving you if you don't turn yourself into an ageless robot? Your beauty is not fleeting. Your value will stay, even if your skin moves.
You are made of the same stuff as the stars and even more. You will live as long and burn as bright, and shine light on everyone you love. You will shine light on everyone that you love and everyone that you treat with kindness. Do not deprive the world of the emotions you could create if you weren't focused on keeping your physical form pristine.
