A Streak of Color | Rex

This fic took me FOREVER to write. I’ve been trying to think about how to write it for weeks because believe it or not, Rex is not my favorite clone and I have a difficult time writing for him. Nevertheless, here’s a fic that happens way before Victory and Death and features something I saw on Twitter that I just couldn’t pass up: Rex and painting. I hope you like it! You know he’s suffering just by the look on his face when you touch down on Umbara to bring the remaining clones home to Coruscant. You hadn’t been on the planet and had remained on The Resolute with Ahsoka to oversee the battle in the skies with the Umbarans. Rex walks right past you like you don’t exist. 

He’s coping. Or trying to, at least. 

You’d seen the Umbaran supply ship explode, and you’d said a silent remembrance prayer for whoever had been claimed by the explosion. Rex would later tell you that Hardcase gave his life for the war. He was just another one to add to the long list that had perished. 

Your heart ached for him. Hardcase was one of the reasons why you and Rex had become a couple at all.
