Others preach the nonsense that MOTIVATION = A Black-Eyed Peas "I got a Feeling". Others split hairs evangelizing drooling followers about DISCIPLINE. Well holy crapola, Batman! Yesterday I was talking to @kbrue24 and we were talking about how much physical movement is so important for our mental health. . When I get anxious I often don’t feel like moving or eating but this last longer anxiety episode I just made one promise to myself. . I would do my best to take care of those needs, that would go to the gym even if I wasn’t stoked to, even if it was only 30 minutes or I would practice yoga and move my body and I would make sure to eat, get some sleep and take care of my needs even if I didn’t feel like doing it because I knew it was important. . I think that’s actually some thing really useful my therapist told me. . I don’t have to enjoy everything I know is good for me to do it. . For example, sometimes doing nothing stresses me out but I also know it’s important so I try and find creative ways to rest or I just do it even though I don’t really want to and it can be the same with eating and working out and taking care of yourself. . You can do it, even when you don’t feel like it because you know that doing it will benefit you in the big scheme of things. . But if that were true, 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 disciplined people would succeed and we know that's not the case. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝟷 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. It's having the psychological edge that allows one to perform at peak maximum effort and efficiency during the demands that are placed on them during training, practice, or competition. Specifically, when the demands are greatest or the conditions become adverse. Because most of us can perform well when the conditions are perfect.
