Let's be honest, Taiju is not bad person even though he using violent to discipline his family. There are no clear version why he use violence against his family, could it be he is the oldest sibling and probably got some treatment from his father, considered as their mother is a loving person but we never heard of their father pay a visit when his mother hospitalized. I guess, after the death of their mother, he thought took a role in descipline their siblings but in the wrong way.

Taiju definitly love his siblings, it was proven in the timelime where he and and Takemichi met for the first time in the future, he was praying for Hakkai and i knew, he didnt want his sibling being too weak to face the problem. Now, when i saw Koko and Inupi's reaction, they didnt seems to hate him, it shows that he was a good leader for both them. Of course, he abused his siblings, but at last, he apologized to Yuzuha and Hakkai for his behaviour, which is not easy for someone like him admitted it. And devoted himself to help Takemichi.

He is a man of faith, actually. But he got too carried away with his emotions and make him lose control of being nice. I could says the same that he love disciplinary action, he didnt discipline his family through violence but his comrades too, could be seen when his first appearances and all his comrades standing at the perfect attention.
