i did enjoy how a long time ago in a galaxy far far away was folded into the lore of the gffa itself in this episode, making it belong to the jedi and their history, that's a fun little meta twist. it's like, you can see what the show is trying to do here. they're being very clever with the whole concept of a galaxy far away from our galaxy far far away, it's a story about stories, about memories of the past and hopes for the future. this other galaxy is not a whimsical place of happily ever afters, though, the cute little noti excluded, much like our gffa, it is full of pain and death. baylan says it's a place of dreams and madness, and the planet is where the purrgil whales go to die, it's a graveyard. shin's naive, earnest 'sometimes stories are just stories' being met with the idea that it holds the way to break the cycle of rise and fall of darkness, like stories matter and can change things. they're not detached fantasies, they're dangerous and full of potential, lurking with menace like thrawn's power to start a war. the show is to some degree making commentary on the power of star wars itself, you know? all the pain and death mixed with whimsy and friendship. ahsoka will be changed by visiting a gffa of the gffa, so will ezra and sabine, thrawn too. they're moving in and out of this second level of being stories inside the story to other characters. it's all very meta but not in an annoying way, in an intriguing way, which is nice. i'm interested to see where filoni is going with all this.

Hello from Blighty thoughts about Saltburn

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT OLIVER IS FROM THE NORTH.

Now look. I am not going to go into Thatcher and Her Crimes, but it's worth a google. I do bring it up in You're Almost Home because...

Lots of people are saying Oliver is upper middle class, and honestly? That doesn't track for me. At all. Yes, his parents have a detached house in a nice suburb and they went on holidays, but there's a lot of Very British Context to them that I really want to point out. Also remember, it's 2006/2007. That is also important.

First of all- Oliver's parents probably never went to University.

Really listen to them. How gullible they are- they believe that Oliver can study at Oxford, and be on the rowing team, and be in plays, and be top scholar. He's always been so clever. If Oliver was anything near upper middle class, his parents would be educated professionals. Oliver probably has dockworkers not even three generations back- his dad has management vibes, but he probably worked his way up in the 70s when all you needed was a good attitude and not to be an obvious murderer.

Secondly- let's talk about the house.

As someone from Down South who has also lived Up North, Oliver's Parent's house would not have been as expensive as people think. Let's assume they bought it in the 1980s- we ALL know that house prices are through the roof NOW, but even today there is a huge gap between house prices in the south and the north. 200k down South might get you a one bedroom flat, if you're lucky. 200k in Prescot can get you a 4-bed, semi-detached HOUSE. Check rightmove.

It is also important that the house is relatively new-looking, because over here Upper Middle Class people aren't really into new build houses- if Oliver was upper middle class, he'd be living in something Victorian or Edwardian. Probably somewhere with a good link to London, especially in 2007. It also means that Oliver's parents may not have even bought it outright- my parents got on the housing ladder via a shared ownership scheme. Oliver's parents aren't rich.

Now, the holidays. Mykonos. Another fun Brit thing is the package holiday. Here's a pretty interesting article about them;

Two adults and three kids could absolutely have gone to Mykonos every year in the late 80s/90s for far less than you'd expect, especially if they paid in installments each month.

I also mentioned about Ollie being from Merseyside specifically, but again. CONTEXT. Although Oliver isn't Liverpudlian (it's important, he's from NEAR Liverpool but not Liverpool itself) the North of England as a whole has routinely been fucked over by those in power. The government AND the royals and the very wealthy. It's still ongoing today- again, another fun source.

Remember when Mr Eats-Crunchies-Sideways called him a Bootlicker? That's fucking IMPORTANT. To many folks he IS a bootlicker. He is highly unlikely to have been raised to grovel at the feet of those with hereditary titles and wealth, and honestly he doesn't. I've written before about how Oliver Denies Felix Things and how that dynamic is important. Oliver likely hasn't been raised with any real deference to The Rich (except Princess Diana).

It also effects Oliver's response to Felix, because goddamn it THATCHER again- it is HIGHLY likely that Oliver has lived through a lot of homophobia. Internalised a lot of it. Felix's parents do not give a shit, but that was not the norm. Again, tried to hit on it in YAH, because times have changed since the 90s/2000s and people change with them, but no fuckin wonder Oliver never responded to Felix chirpsing him like a maniac. He's fucking REPRESSED when he's in Oxford, pals. It also makes sense with that weird Tumblr Dom shit he pulls; he's still fuckin weird about it, he's just being In Charge so he doesn't need to be vulnerable in any way. He is only vulnerable for Felix, and even then he can't SHOW felix that, that would be gay.

There’s a certain liberation, a release of tension that comes with this. With the pressure of the staff back in your hand, the wood grain against the sensitive sensors delicately woven into the pads of your fingers. They’d torn your code open and tangled their hands in it and ripped and ripped and ripped until they took everything that made you who you are. They wrenched free your love, your generosity, your kindness- There was no mercy left in your power core. There was nothing. Then they handed you the staff, and resurrected an evil they didn’t truly understand. They couldn’t control you. They didn’t know they couldn’t control you. Turpentine poured in one ear and all the goodness and morality washing out the other, scrubbed clean of the weak and soft parts of himself. The gentleness of your edges has been filed down sharp and rigid, dragged across a whetstone and sharpened to the precision of a razor blade.

You are the Ice Emperor. You missed this.

There is relief with the loss of Zane. You are the same person, of course, but without the burden of guilt and shame. Without the restriction of fear. While upon the throne of the Never Realm, you had come to respect some of the people under your rule- those who stood and fought, who were strong and relentless and clever, who kept swinging even as ice encased their legs and grew steadily higher. You respected the Krag. You respected Akita.

(And out of respect for them, for their prowess as warriors, you didn’t dare hold back.)

You did not respect that part of yourself. A soft, sad thing. Afraid to raise your hand too quickly, unable to utilize the hundreds of killing tactics you had perfected and as such losing so miserably it's almost comical. Almost. You’d have laughed if it didn’t fill you with a humming miasma of deep seated fury. You spent all this time letting yourself fail, asking for pain when you cowed away from a finishing blow. You didn’t remember how far above them you are. You were a coward- spineless and scared, without the nerve to exercise your power.

The Emperor is no such fool.

The girl in front of you takes a sudden step back when you raise your eyes to meet hers. A vicious satisfaction bubbles up your throat, crowding against your teeth. Your presence expands, filling the room and all its corners, commanding attention- the temperature drops until her breath fogs in front of her mouth. She wants to carry in her eyes what you do. She covets the cold detachment that comes second nature to you. She envies your brutality.

She is terribly, horribly frightened by your rage.

The purple crystals glittering around you might be considered beautiful by someone who cares about things like that. You don't even notice their glow. All you care about is the staff and the blood lust sitting under you skin, nestled between your wiring.

Ripped from your home, flooded with feelings so foreign and wrong they rewrote your personality until you were nothing but a bad memory- and now, dragged back out to fight without your advisor at your side, ordered like a dog- Destroy the Ninja! Like you were a prized pet bred to obey. The room was filled with others- people you recognized, people who hurt you when you were too scared to hit back. (The Mechanic, Mr. E, all of them comfortable in their successes against you- they don't see the threat sitting at their feet. They don't even realize they should run.) They laugh and they jeer and they poke and prod and provoke you. They didn’t know what they’d done. They didn’t know who they had invited into their home- their murderer welcomed with cruel smiles and pitiful commands that they thought you would mindlessly follow.

You wanted to make them scared.

You stand to your full height, not curled up and defeated on the stone floor anymore. The girl doesn’t move as you rise to tower over her, staring at you and trying to form the right words to have you bow down before her. She is a pitiful thing. Her eyes glimmer with the hunted desperation of someone who has fought for every breath she’s ever taken. She thinks she will survive this as she has survived everything else.

You raise your hand and she flinches. The room grows quiet. Gently, you reach out and press your finger against her forehead. It only takes a moment- a tap.

She gasps, her whole body convulsing as she chokes on nothing, futilely trying to take in air. Her legs crumple and she hits the floor with a thunk.

You started with the brain. Ice unfurling slowly through her frontal lobe all the way to her cerebellum before curling down her brain stem. Slow enough so that she knew exactly what was happening to her, but too quickly for her body to go numb to the sting. You could see it in her eyes, a terror that only comes when a painful death has surrounded you- when you know there was no way out of it this time. You let the ice trickle down her spinal cord to her lungs, filling her capillaries and cracking delicate tissue when she tries desperately to breathe. It sunk into her heart last. Brain dead in 2 seconds, collapsed at 3.

You raise your head, staring at the sea of horrified faces.

What does it mean to be the last?

There’s no doubt that Optimus was the last of the primes. However, that could mean two things: Either he was The Thirteenth Prime or he was merely the last Cybertronian who would bear the Matrix and carry the title of “Prime.” Personally, I prefer the latter interpretation.

The exact relationship between Optimus and The Thirteenth Prime varies in the Aligned Continuity. Supposedly, the original plan was for Optimus to be a regular bot with “polarities” (explained below), but somewhere along the way, it was decided that he would be a reincarnation of Thirteen. This seems to be the view preferred by most fans. The Covenant of Primus upholds this idea while the Aligned shows don’t really say either way. Meanwhile, the other three novels strictly adhere to the original idea of him being a regular guy who became “The Chosen One” through bearing the Matrix.

Polarities

Furthermore, it is revealed Transformers have "polarities", equivalent to a human star sign and based on the Thirteen original Transformers. Optimus claims Prima and Alpha Trion as his primary and secondary polarity (but this was probably from before it was decided to make Optimus himself one of the Thirteen). (TFwiki)

The concept of polarities in Cybertronians presents some interesting possibilities. Back when I discovered the page, I distinctly recall it saying that Optimus claimed Prima and Thirteen as his primary and secondary polarity—which would make sense—but now it says Alpha Trion. Whoever wrote/edited the section didn’t provide a reference, so all I can do is speculate about which one is correct:

PRIMA

Prima was the archetypal hero, a warrior made closest to Primus's own type and intents, focused on the greater good. Such people can be dull, but Prima was clever and unselfish with a strong sense of self-awareness, so that even as he remained true to his principles, he was always able to stay one step away from pomposity. He cared for us all like the eldest brother of a large and unruly family, taking too much upon his shoulders perhaps. As Primus did, he was convinced he was both right and in the right all the time, which made him a frustrating person to deal with on occasion, but stood him in good stead when it came to a fight. His weapon was the Star Saber, a sword of an item type like the Quill, whose form was symbolic of its power rather than the actual full limit of it. Its edge could cut between atoms with the accuracy of the finest tool, or sunder mountains.

ALPHA TRION

I, Alpha Trion, was made to be the historian of the Primes and the memory of Primus, in case Primus was ever recalled to life. It was my nature to be detached, although I don't believe I was uncaring. I took a philosophical attitude, an analytic appreciation of others and their deeds. I was gifted with two artefacts: the Covenant, which truly came from and belonged to Primus himself, and in which much was written by Primus's will, and the Quill, with which I wrote my own observations. Unlike all other Primes and subsequent beings of the same lineage, I was given total recall and a direct link to the Spark of Primus, through which I was sustained and inspired during times when the accumulated knowledge and awareness of events would have been otherwise intolerable.

THE THIRTEENTH PRIME

Thirteen was unlike the other Primes. His type was warrior, a physical adept, with the leadership and intellectual fortitude of kings. Where Megatronus was riddled with contradiction. Thirteen had no such troubles and was perhaps as a result far lesser in ego than any of the other late Primes. At this time of our making he was quiet and dutiful, obedient to Prima’s commands and dedicated to assisting those who required it. He was like Prima’s second, but unlike the rest he had no special object or weapon associated with him, taking up only those lesser tools crafted by Solus, and his armor, as he was instructed. This would seem odd if we did not all know that his true purpose was as mediator and visionary. Thirteen was an inspirational speaker and a deep thinker with a calm soul. His steady, perceptive nature meant he was well liked, and he pulled his weight. He used to comfort others in times of stress with a friendly hand on their shoulder and the words, “All are one." There was a contented light in him that made us believe it. Even Megatronus could be calmed this way when he came in from one of his great battle rages, foaming with his own puissance and resentment. Thirteen united us. Without his influence we would have fallen into disarray far sooner.

These three descriptions are in The Covenant of Primus, along with the other 10.

Later, The Covenant states that Starscream is “A bot after Liege Maximo’s pattern,” hinting at the idea of Cybertronians still having polarities in that novel, to add to the confusion.

Demigod or Regular Guy(TM)?

It all depends on how each fan interprets things.

If Optimus is indeed a reincarnation of Thirteen, as The Covenant says, the bio for Thirteen gives a beautiful glimpse into TFP Optimus’ character.

If Optimus is just a regular guy elevated to the status of Prime by the Matrix, as is implied in the later novels, I think it’s more likely that he has Thirteen as his primary polarity with either Alpha Trion or Prima as his secondary one.

For fun, I could even go out on a limb, throw out the idea of polarities, and say that Optimus could have been patterned after Thirteen, Prima, and Alpha Trion. I mean—combine all three descriptions, and one gets the Optimus we see in TFP.

What about Robots in Disguise?

“Isn’t Optimus a reincarnation of Thirteen in there?”

It’s possible, but I’m inclined to think not. Excluding those who died or departed in The Covenant, several of the Primes, including Thirteen, never showed up in the show. For all we know, Thirteen could have been somewhere offscreen, gazing proudly at the one who was patterned so closely after him. Optimus being a regular Cybertronian elevated to the “spiritual” status of Prime at some point would also explain why Micronus and the others seemed to treat him with less respect than one might expect if they were seeing him as an equal.

When Optimus shows up in RiD15, he seems surprised that Micronus is taking him to The Realm of the Primes. Would not Thirteen himself remember the place and expect to dwell there after his recent death? Or, also:

“The crisis is upon us. And we sense our chosen champion is not prepared…”

“For you to face this challenge, we must share with you a portion of each of our sparks—an awesome amount of power. If you are not prepared, you will not survive.”

These are just two of many things said (and done) by the Primes that make me think they’re addressing a subordinate of sorts rather than a fellow being of equal power as they would if he were Thirteen, even a reincarnation of him.

Of course, one could always attribute these things to some sort of memory wipe inflicted upon Thirteen after each reincarnation… But I digress.

Conclusion

Optimus was definitely the last of the Primes because of the whole Matrix-merging-with-the-Allspark thing. However, his origins are debatable. Either interpretation is valid, although I personally prefer the one where he is an ordinary guy with an extraordinary destiny.

The Tramont Family

Time for me to scribble down my thought-thinks about Olivia's family that have been kicking around in my head!

Lord Matthias Tramont. A stodgy man rumored to have once-upon-a-time been quite charismatic, but Olivia can’t believe that. He is all about maintaining the families position and adhering to tradition - or whatever Queen Regent Disa tells him will help their position. The family ascended to nobility through a history of service in the military (along with a few clever marriage arrangements), but in the recent past they took a slip down the political power ladder, which seems to have influenced him. He is at regular odds with Captain Brant and Watchhead Gregor. He took great pains to arrange a potential marriage to Regentkin Sven for Olivia, only for her to spurn those efforts and, to his mind, make an utter fool of him. As such, their relationship is quite rocky at the moment. Her becoming Arisen has in some small way ‘mended’ that, but now everything he’s worked for and the connections he’s made are being tested as Disa would rather be rid of Olivia, having seen how her bullheadedness makes her unpredictable and troublesome. So, Matthias presents an air of the most detached support; giving her the most cursory and basic of protections from the Tramont family, but nothing further, while biding his time looking for the most rewarding opportunities.

Lady Claudia Tramont. A noblewoman whom Matthias was arranged to marry by his father, she is the perfect image of a true lady - carefully concealed warts and all. She is deep down a little more understanding of Olivia’s desires to break out on her own and do what she wants beyond her fathers wishes for her. Yet outwardly she goes along with Matthias in all things, and regards Olivia coldly for acting out - something that may stem from a root of jealousy. She dotes endlessly on Ephraim and (not-so-)secretly loathes her youngest son being marched off to battle. Similarly she takes great pride in young Abigail for being everything Olivia failed to be.  As for Oliver… Yes, a mother should be so proud to have such a successful and formidable son… And she will say as much to any who would broach the subject of him, but there is a marked way in which she otherwise avoids ever talking about him that would suggest some level of discomfort. Perhaps even fear.

Oliver “The Bull” Tramont. As a child, Olivia idolized him; he was a strong and powerful knight who protected the people and would slay dragons, to her mind, and she would one day do the same. Now, however, the naivete of childhood is long gone, and she knows him to be little more than an opportunistic mercenary who upholds everything she hates about the nobility.  While his father prefers to bow and scrape to the other nobles, Oliver prefers a more hands-on approach, proving their indistinguishable value through the wholesale slaughter of any enemies. He is equally feared and revered on the battlefield, a beast of a man who sends monsters fleeing before him. While he gets his men out alive (and mostly unscathed), he will also hire Pawns for particularly dangerous work and bears them only the least amount of respect afforded them in Vermund, often enough using them as fodder.  While he seems to care only for battle, however, he secretly has designs on the throne, throwing in his lot with the likes of Allard… He also holds great disdain for his elven heritage, going so far as to cut the pointed tips of his own ears off, and 'encouraging' Ephraim to do the same.

Ephraim Tramont. Though your classic sickly Victorian child in his youth, he is now training to follow in his fathers and older brothers footsteps as a soldier in the Vermundian military. Perhaps needless to say, Olivia couldn’t help but to be jealous and bitter towards him for this, though she’d never actually act out in such a way towards him. Indeed they were very close, and in his youth she would often bring him trinkets and gifts when he was confined to his bed. Alas, eventually he started parroting Matthias and Oliver by telling her she needed to simply accept her lot in life - in part out of his love for her, and in part his jealousy. As much as he loves her, he also hates her for being so ‘free-spirited’ about everything. (By then, however, she was already enlisting under their noses.) He’s a rather weak-willed sort, doted on endlessly by his mother and not at all cruel at heart, but desperately tries to make up for his shortcomings by emulating the strength and demeanors of those around him.

Abigail “Abby” Tramont. The youngest of the Tramont’s and Olivia’s favorite. She is everything her older sister is not and more than happy to follow in her mothers footsteps, enjoying all of the dancing and needlework and such. But she loves her big sister dearly, ever enamored by the tales of adventure Olivia would put her to bed with, and Olivia’s romantic dreams of the ideal knight.  After Olivia’s return as Arisen, she would send her letters or even sneak to her house to visit her, gifting her embroideries she made. She loves to listen to all of Olivia’s own adventures now, while sipping on tea and the tasty treats she brought that she knows Olivia loves so well. And while she had next to no opinion on Pawns before meeting them so much more up close and personal through Olivia, upon doing so she’s quietly disturbed by how her eldest brother speaks of them in comparison to the reality she sees. She is very fond of Emrys and somewhat unknowingly regards him like a big brother - she’s certainly never had a brother like him, who is actually fun to be around.

What are your thoughts on letting go of the ego? I've been reading into non-dualism and thought I was getting a better understanding who I am as God/consciousness. But some people have said you have to completely drop the ego in order for consciously create things effortlessly. And by dropping it I also drop all desires/fears attached to the ego. Is that the same thing as not identifying with our human selves and accepting that everything is already perfect? Like maybe I'm misunderstanding but it almost sounds like they're saying to learn to be indifferent to whatever circumstances our human selves are going through to the point where there is no desire to change it. At that point, its like just accept whatever it is you're going through and deal with it, like we were doing before finding out about manifesting, which is something I really don't want to do lol.

Excellent question and I have so many thoughts to share surrounding the subject of the egoself. My thoughts about the concept of "letting go of the ego" are completely different from the majority rule.

First of all, I want to clarify here that consciousness is not the true self. Your true self as God is total, unconditioned awareness. This is your Higher Self.

Awareness is unchanging, pure, and objective. That absolute awareness of existing and experiencing life through your eyes is who/what you really are behind the manifestation of this elaborate human disguise.

Consciousness is only a dual state of mind attached to your personal sense/perception of yourself as an individual. States of consciousness are an entirely subjective lens of perception and they can change.

You are not consciousness. Consciousness is a state of mind with an identity attached to it.

You are not the mind and you are not the body.

Awareness is the creative power of divine creation operating through your dominant state of perception according to your own sense of identity as an individual in the human experience.

Now that we have gotten all that jazz out of the way:

Onto answering your question.

People who teach others to "kill the ego" and push them to completely strip away their sense of humanity are perpetuating such a harmful, destructive mentality for anyone learning the nature of nonduality. The constant push for demonizing and villainizing the egoself goes against what it truly means to be living from spiritual self-awareness.

It is so ridiculously harmful and unreasonable to tell others to deny their human selves and detach from the human experience. The whole paradox of it all is that people who want you to destroy your sense of humanity and "kill the ego" are operating from the mind of the egoself instead of a spiritual mind.

Not to mention, by detaching from the egoself, so many things about the human experience would lose its incredible beauty and deeper meanings:

loving relationships, forming deep and meaningful connections with others, falling madly in love, living with passion in your veins, and embracing the whole magnificence of living in existence.

All of those treasures and those little moments to live for in life would completely lose its meaning and beauty. By completely detaching yourself from your sense of humanity, life would seem meaningless, pointless, and those special moments would no longer be exciting because you would realize that it's all just a clever game of awakening to your true self.

If experiences in life feel meaningless, dull, and pointless: why the hell would anyone want to embrace the human experience? Everything in life would feel as though nothing matters anymore.

As spiritual beings, we should want to embrace the incredible beauty of this manifested existence after awakening to our divine true self. The human experience was a desire for God to experience what it would be like to live as a human.

I think the notion that we must completely detach from our human selves is absolutely preposterous and ignorant of what it truly means to live from a spiritually awakened mind. These ridiculous concepts that so many people blindly accept defeat the purpose of what it means to be spiritually awake.

Imagine throwing any and all attachment to your sense of human identity away? And all for what?

To please a whole bunch of bloggers who push you to deny the existence of your human aspects?

The same bloggers who feed you bullshit lies about this incredible human experience that God: the creator of *all existence* manifested into the flesh "being just meaningless and pointless"?

Be honest with yourself: Is that what you truly want?

You can have the best of both worlds with the egoself and the God state of mind working in balanced harmony to open up a blissful, heavenly experience for you after awakening.

We are here as a manifestation in human form to simply enjoy and embrace the existence that we created as God with open arms.

Life is beautiful. This existence is meant to be treasured and cherished for all the beauty it holds.

There is absolutely no need to attack the ego or destroy it. The ego should be left alone, completely.

Now to the next point:

Your focus should never be on the egoself.

The priority here is meant to be on transforming your sense of perception of yourself after you discover the absolute divinity of your true self.

The main focus of nonduality and spiritual awakening is to transform your perception of yourself from victimhood to the confident God state of mind. Leave the ego alone, entirely.

When you are operating from your true self as God then you allow your egoself to naturally be guided and aligned with your Higher Self.

The egoself and your Higher Self are meant to be in balanced unity with each other as the confident God state of mind takes the reigns of your perception.

Your egoself and God state simply work together in harmony as one for you to experience a deeper, and more fulfilled appreciation for your own experiences in your life after awakening to God itself having a real human experience.

This is where true bliss and inner peace comes in.

When you are living from the spiritual consciousness of truly knowing yourself as God then you are able to embrace the absolute beauty and treasure of the human experience from an inner state of bliss, freedom, and peace. This is true enlightenment.

Every day would be blissful and peaceful as you operate from the awareness of your divine inner power and your true self's identity as God to create the ultimate reality of your dreams.

As a bonus, you would find yourself being able to form deeper, and more meaningful connections with others. The type of intense connections that align together on a deeply transcendent, spiritual level.

You would be experiencing Heaven on Earth all the time and you would experience an intensified, deeper appreciation for the human experience. You would realize this manifested existence is such a gift.

Last thing I want to leave you with:

When you operate from the God state of mind then your conscious manifestation journey is ultimately transformed into a Heavenly paradise as you find yourself living from inner confidence and trust in your own ability to create.

Turn within and listen to your heart.

You do not ever need to sacrifice your egoself in order to embrace your true self as God and manifest the reality of your dreams with ease.

Don't listen to others telling you otherwise, you make the decision. You are God in human form.

What are your thoughts on Iron Valiant?

One of the big problems I (and many other people) have with the future Paradox Pokemon is that many of the designs tend to be bland; usually just the same as the base Pokemon with a layer of "robot" plastered over top. The reason this tends to be so frustrating is that there are a few good future Paradoxes that don't do this—and that includes Iron Valiant.

The big thing that separates it from its peers is that it's a hybrid of Gardevoir and Gallade, with some elements of the megas tossed in there for good measure. It's not just one or the other But a Robot(TM), it's an actual unique design that incorporates both new elements and old in a way that looks well-balanced and cool.

Visually, I have virtually no issues with it. First, the colors are good—the dark green contrasts nicely with the white, and it avoids the blues that muddle Gallade's colors. The hot pink accents are particularly striking—Gardevoir and Gallade have some pink on them, but it's much more subdued compared to the LEDs here, and these accents help pull the eye through the design.

I also like how it balances both designs, kind of getting the best of both worlds. For example, it has the same awkward waist bulge as Gallade, but it looks completely natural here because it basically forms the base of Gardevoir's "dress". The legs have Gallade's toes, but this time in pink, which makes them feel a bit less pointless. It also gets to keep Gallade's cool arm blades, though with the added functionality of them being detachable:

Meanwhile, it also keeps the "bodice" of Gardevoir, the dress, the hair and the two-color palette (dropping Gallade's blue as previously mentioned). As an added bonus, it also has an element unique to it in the form of "pigtails". I've always like Gardevoir but never liked Gallade that much, but this design does a great job with both elements and really creates something nice out of them.

My only complaint is that the way the black piece cinches in twice around the waist looks a bit odd—just once would've worked better. It being a robot is also somewhat incidental to the concept (the entire design could easily work as an organic Pokemon, minus the detachable wrist blades), but that's a problem most of the future Paradoxes have so I won't blame Iron Valiant for that.

Also, final note: I love the little detail that it was supposedly an attempt at making the most powerful psychic-type Pokemon, because Gardevoir is psychic/fairy and Gallade is psychic/fighting... so it's naturally fairy/fighting. That's really clever, and is also one of the few future paradoxes with a justifiable typing.

Overall, one of the strongest future Paradox Pokemon due to its distinct theme and visuals along with its carefully well-balanced design. I just wish all the other future Paradoxes were this good!

imagine the detached and vengeful sun god in the aftermath of the mortal denholm brothers’ deaths. the sun god, furious at the injustice and cruelty, stepping forth to unleash all hell on these vile mortals who so callously slaughtered their children in the hopes of becoming famous themselves. except he falters, because the pair of too-still bodies before him are so agonisingly small, so painfully young, so devoid of life. in a split second decision, he imbues them with a fragment of his own divinity. and so ruby red becomes gold, and so the the sickly sweetness of ichor mixes with the salt of iron in the heavy air.

they may have their occasional clashes, but they are freed from the shackles of mortality now and spread their wings in a palace amongst the stars. and if legend tells of a pair of boys who haunt the town where they were slaughtered like sacrificial lambs, well, they might occasionally pay a visit to remind the residents of those stories and their worth. tell tales of childlike laughter carried on the breeze, a flash of red hair, a flutter of wings and too-sharp teeth, lest you be lost to the depths like the parents of those starshine children so long ago.

🌟 The Atlas Six Characters

I put together little mood boards of all the major Atlas Six characters. This is how I personally imagined each one of them. I also included brief descriptions of their respective powers.

Libby Rhodes

A morally righteous, anxious, and intelligent physicist with the tendency to light things on fire when angry. She controls the various forces of physics and loves learning about space and various physical principles. She also wants to research neurodegenerative conditions as her sister died from one. She has a long standing academic rivalry with Nico De Varona, whom she possibly admires. She may also have feelings for Tristan Caine. Ezra is her ex-boyfriend.

Tristan Caine

A venture capitalist working in a major company called Wessex corp. He has the ability to see atomic structures. Tristan has several dormant powers that he later learns to activate with the help of Nico. He has the most powerful and promising powers of the group as his powers edge on both illusionary and physical. He can manipulate quanta itself and in theory can bend the rules of the universe. He used to be friends with Callum and has a budding love for Libby.

Parisa Kamali

Parisa is a seasoned telepath who can both read minds and communicate mentally. She can dive into the depths of people's minds, even their subconscious. She is known to be very seductive, her past, and future motives remain unclear. She has taken interest in Dalton and often challenges Atlas, who is also a fellow telepath. She sees and hears all. But her mind remains a mystery.

Callum Nova

Sneaky, clever, and detached, Callum sticks out of the group. He is the least liked among his members. Callum can alter and manipulate people's emotional states to make them do his bidding. He has a formidable power in which he can end someone's life without even lifting a finger. Callum is arrogant, self-centered, and sly. But, he is dually complexed and shuts out his feelings in an effort to not feel others' emotions. His motives remain unclear. However, he does lend a hand when his friends are in need.

Nico De Varona

Nico is boyish, playful, and ambitious. He likes to be first. He likes to be a winner. He is likeable and friendly. He is a physicist like Libby. He can also control physical forces. However, he has a proclivity for causing earthquakes in emotional duress. He has a long standing academic rivalry with Libby, possibly some feelings too. However, he also seems to harbor feelings for his best friend Gideon. Nico loves competing and learning.

Reina Mori

Reina is the social recluse. She simply wants to learn and expand her powers. She has nature powers. Reina can hear and talk to plants. She can also manipulate nature into doing her bidding. She has a tremendous amount of energy and often gets used as a battery pack for her peers' magic. Reina is fascinated by Gods and the origins of the universe. She is determined to become a God herself. Reina seems to harbor feelings for Nico, though she has a friendly relationship with Callum. She holds a specific resentment for Parisa.

Atlas Blakely

The elusive and mysterious caretake of the Alexandrian Library and it's society. He used to be friends with Ezra and was a former Alexandrian intiate. Atlas is a powerful telepath on a mission to curate a new world. He harbors many secrets and somehow seems to know everything. Atlas's motives remain unclear.

Ezra Fowler

Ezra is a powerful time traveler and former Alexandrian initiate. He used to be friends with Atlas. Ezra began a resistance group against the Alexandrian Society. He is on a mission to stop Atlas's master plan. Ezra loves Libby, but crosses limits in order to protect her and foil Atlas's grand plan. Ezra is secretive, cunning, and unpredictable. His motives also remain unclear.

Gideon Drake

Gideon is Nico's best friend. He also is in love with Nico. Gideon can travel through people's dreams. He can also communicate through dreams. Gideon is a unique species as he was born from a Mermaid. Gideon is kind, compassionate, friendly, and is a gentle ball of sunshine.

Dalton Ellery

Researcher and assistant to Atlas, Dalton is his wing man. He is privy to many of Atlas's secrets but it careful to keep things under wraps. Dalton is quiet, evasive, and secretive. He is an animator. He can create human-like projections with primitive consciousness. He is currently researching how to create life in it's entirety, complete with a full conscious. He is romantically interested in Parisa. Dalton also harbors a second split identity that is ambitious, sinister, and sly, in his subconscious. He is essentially like Mr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

• Runing off from your normal life of rules and regulations had been a no brainer in your opinion

• In the years growing up a member of high society, your family hadn't nessicarily been a bad one. They gave you the basic needs to have a comfortable life, sometimes more, but feelings of detachment lingered in the air durring nights without a kiss on the head goodnight and calls of don't let the bed bugs bight

• Nevertheless, after the age of six you felt more often than not you were left to fend for yourself in an extravagant manor of winding hallways and stone faced servants

• You'd never liked the nobility anyways. So away you went, letting your feet lead the way instead of your head for once

• How you eventually ended up as a stowaway on The Black Pearl of all ships was a mystery to even yourself

• You supposed it started with that fact that you weren't dumb enough to stick around your hometown for long. Your position in the nobility might not be that much of value, but still. When a person with money and a hint of power goes missing, people tend to look for them, hoping for a reward in turn

• Along with traveling outside of town, you were clever enough to get rid of the fresh clothes you normally wore in exchange for the cheapest pair you could find—which turned out to be a simple pair of cotton pants and shirt

• That's how the ship mates later found you. Wedged between two barrels of their rum, softly snoring as the ship rocked back and forth, face scarcely illuminated with the lantern they had taken with them for light

• Gibbs was the first one to say anything

• "We better get th' Cap'n for this one mates. I have a feelin this'll be a bit more excitin than standin at the helm for an hour."

• You think you even saw one with a wooden eye holding a slingshot?? Which didn't make any sense, but who were you to judge right now

• Jack's own sword is pointed at your throat, and he tilts his head with a wide smile, showing off a few of this golden teeth

• "Reckon we got another set of hands to help us around here, aye Mister Gibbs?"

• "Aye Captian."

I WAS GONNA DRAW A SECOND PAGE BUT ITS BEEN THREE DAYS AND IVE BEEN TOO EXITED AND I WASNT PATIENT ENOUGH ;-;

anyway i cannot be trusted with any kind of media anymore. here's an rtopia venom au.

so here's the dealio (in as few words as possible):

Johnathan [last name pending] WAS a normal (ish) human before applying for a clinical trial at the Life Foundation. this goes exactly as well as you'd expect. he becomes the first human to not fatally reject symbiosis and is partnered with a Symbiote only ever referred to as "the clever one"

the Symbiote (who doesn't have a name at this point) is picked for him because it happens to be very, very, almost stupidly small and weak. despite this, however, their "first contact" is painful and traumatic enough that John is completely unconscious for two days.

the symbiote is called "the clever one" because it figured out how to break out of the containers they're kept in. twice. its samples also responded more than any of the other symbiote's samples when tested and it started picking up on human gestures by observation. it even waves to John before the container is opened

as soon as John is awake again, it's immediately on his case. it tells him that it's very, very hungry and that it has a plan to escape as long as he complies. when he seems resistant to this, the Symbiote lies to him and tells him that they'll kill him if he doesn't work with them, stating that they've "killed two others before". they simply didn't specify that the "others" were glass jars. John fails to call their bluff and agrees

so the Symbiote tells him their plan. they detach from him completely and scramble around on the floor while he calls for help (they know that the other symbiotes don't leave hosts alive to call for help and that the workers at the facility can see wether the hosts are alive or not through the glass, so having him play dead wasn't an option. again, they're very clever)

someone leaves the door open when they rush in to help the symbiote, John grabs it and RUNS while he has the chance

he learns, very quickly, that the symbiote can protect him from being shot and help him run faster. it can also seize complete control of his limbs. it cannot do both at once (weak ass) but at least it's covering his ears the entire time

through the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP (basic teamwork) they clamber through a window and out into the forest beyond, still being chased. with no other viable options to get to safety, the symbiote throws them both into a pond and holds him under the water until the coast is clear

that's all im saying for now. i need to stop somewhere. so that's how John got Chat! it isn't named Chat yet but that happens pretty soon after this. also Dread is on his phone in that one panel because i think that he would be an awful doomscroller. he would be unstoppable if he didn't turn his brain into mush on twitter

innovation — known by scholars to be considered a scientist himself, archeologists believe that he was prayed to by scientists of the time. sight — flaunting the name "Perceptor", he is considered a deity of sight. whether this meant he was prayed to by oracles is currently unknown knowledge — due to his immense knowledge of seemingly all things, he was well respected as a major god of knowledge. libraries have been created in his honor. accuracy — myths speak of Perceptor's legendary aim, whether it be with bows or guns, it's thought to be believed that he would be prayed to before hunts that they may find their marks. he was also considered a minor deity of song and owls.

ASSOCIATED WITH: glass lenses, scientific equipment, a stack of well-read books, iron sights, youthful eyes full of wonder, the lilt of a melody, the call of an owl in the dead of night, a perfect bullseye, pages and pages of notes, worn-down pencils
