i am genuinely confused by something you said in your joan of arc post & i would love if you could clarify. you said "women afab can be trans. men amab can be trans." i understand how that applies to intersex people, who may be assigned a sex they identify with but have other sex characteristics that they get dysphoria from. or theyre assigned as one sex but once puberty hit they developed far more traits of the other sex, so they had to transition back to what they used to be. i understand those scenarios. but as far as we know, joan of arc wasnt intersex & you dont bring up intersex in your post. how can a non-intersex person transition to something they already are & have been for their entire life? changing how one presents, like changing their style of clothes to better suit their gender & personality, doesnt count as "transitioning" imo, cis people do that aaall the time, multiple times throughout their lives. so what do you actually mean by this??
So my definition of trans is very much inspired by Leslie Feinberg's definition of trans(gender): An umbrella term for "everyone who challenges the boundaries of sex and gender," in which ze specifically includes cross-dressing and GNC people who are men AMAB and women AFAB. I would define trans as being inclusive of anyone who queers sex and/or gender.
In my humble nonbinary opinion, we way over-rely on the idea of trans as being about identifying as a gender that isn't your assigned sex. I, for example, was assigned female and identify as (amongst other genders) a woman, but my womanhood is very much trans. For one, I was on T for two years and intend to get bottom surgery, but I was also alienated from typical cis girlhood for my entire life and my womanhood is inherently tied to me also being a man and abinary. My womanhood is not cisnormative at all.
"Woman" and "man" (and male and female) are all constructs. Just because someone may call themself a woman, and have been assigned female at birth, does not mean they identify as the same kind of woman that society expects and demands them to. There are different ways of constructing womanhood. The "gender identity that isn't AGAB" definition was built on the idea of trans people as going from one binary point to the other, with the assumption that "woman" and "man" are still Real Things with one natural meaning. Attempts at being nb-inclusive have basically just said "well nonbinary isn't a gender assigned at birth, so its trans!" which is completely true, but it also ignores all the nonbinary and genderqueer people whose genders are more nuanced than that.
On Jeanne d'Arc specifically, I actually have some relevant quotes on this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(from Vested Interests: Crossdressing and Cultural Anxiety and Clothing and Gender Definition: Joan of Arc respectively)
This is why I included that line: because we often assume, in our exorsexism, that a historical figure must identify as a man/woman (cis), as the opposite (trans), or maybe as neither, but those are the only options. We are still limiting ourselves and these historical figures' by limiting how we understand gender and genderqueerness. To Jeanne, being a cross-dressing female virgin soldier could be its own gender, something different than the genders of cisnormative mothers and nuns.
& as a note: I feel like, a lot of the time, non-intersex people in the community will make exceptions for intersex people (like "well, intersex people can be transfemmascs/male lesbians/etc" but no one else!!!") which. doesn't actually seem that great for intersex people? Like aside from assuming that these genderqueer experiences can only be had by intersex people, it also means that if you identify that way, you must Prove that you are Allowed to be doing that, by both outing yourself as intersex and arguing that you are intersex Enough.

You don't have to answer this ofc, but what is your opinion on the main four(D'arce, Cahara, Enki, and Ragnvaldr)? Also, what's your take on them as Yanderes? If you don't feel like answering this im really sorry for bothering you! Hope you are having a great day!!❤️
Thank you! :D
---
D'arce is a worshipping and delusional yandere! She thinks you're absolutely perfect, a god in human form without even needing to ascend. She would go to the ends of the earth for you. Anything you say is truth. Everything you do is perfect. All D'arce wants is to love you and protect you. She was your knight, after all! And all she really asks for in return is the blessing of being able to by your side. As your confidant. Your knight. Your lover.
Bearing the soul of the endless, Cahara had spent much of his life simply drifting by, seeing where his travels and jobs take him. The flings he'd had before were simply that - flings. He figured it'd be more of the same with you, but no. You fascinated him. You were like an addiction. He became obsessed, wanting to always be close to you, touch you, look at you, know everything about you any way he could. At some point, Cahara had an epiphany. It was almost like you... You were meant to be. His infatuation over you has become endless, as well.
Enki is definitely possessive. He wants to make sure that not only do you know you're his, but so does everyone else. He keeps himself very close to you, boxing you away from the others. Being a tad sadistic, he'll threaten your or your allies to keep you in line - and he may even make good on some of them! If he senses any potential rivals, he won't hesitate to simply cast an incredibly agonizing spell on them that slowly kills them over time.
Ragnvaldr is a protective yandere. After losing his entire life, his family, to the Knight of The Midnight Sun, Ragnvaldr hadn't been the same man. His soul was that of the tormented, but when he was with you, the burden was so much easier to bear. He found friendship in you, clicking together like you were always meant to meet. But, Ragnvaldr finds himself waiting for the next boot to drop. For you to be taken from him, too. The idea his terrifying. He can't lose the last good thing in his life. He can't let anyone else die...! He doesn't care what he has to do to keep you safe. Even if it means sawing off all your limbs so you can never, ever leave. It's okay. He has enough strength to protect you.

Further Servant details under the cut:
THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO:
The Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantès. The protagonist of Dumas' famous novel, 'The Count of Monte Cristo', a classical revenge story. The tale of an innocent soul twisted by treachery and betrayal, and ruining the lives of those who wronged him with an intense and unrelenting flame.
While Dantès himself eventually found mercy and happiness outside of his quest for revenge, his incarnation as an Avenger is still swathed with nothing but burning wrath. To make those who are his enemies suffer, and burn away all that is evil in the world. An Avenger born of love, that speaks of hatred. To those that prove themselves, he serves as an unrelenting ally, and to his enemies he is a terrifying force of nature.
Possessing dark treasures and an indefatigable will, his black flames sear and poison all who touch them, he is a powerful warrior- much more powerful than the man described in Dumas' novel.
NITOCRIS (ALTER):
An ancient Pharaoh, one of the oldest Heroic Spirits recorded within the Throne of Heroes, most well-known for the murder of those that wronged her family.
A great Divine Spirit with control over the dead, the Heroic Spirit Nitocris possesses no true vengeance in her heart, therefore to be an Avenger she must have lost some of her reasoning. This manifests in her being a 'double-Summon' of an Avenger and a Berserker.
She is the earthly embodiment of Anubis, the deity who weighs the souls of those entering the Underworld in order to judge their worthiness and measure their sins. She lacks the human intensity of her traditional self, instead being replaced with a cold, focused calmness that can see the world with an objective eye often lacking in her contemporaries (both Berserkers and Avengers).
JEANNE D'ARC (ALTER):
The twisted version of the 'Holy Maiden' from the Hundred Year's War, Jeanne d'Arc.
To witness the manifestation an 'alter' of a pure soul such as Jeanne d'Arc would need to be a miracle within its own right. Rather than a holy maiden, this Servant manifests as a violent witch, a warrior that represents the cruel rumors that led the original to be burned at the stake, and the hatred that should have come along with it.
Embittered and scathing, she watches the pious and the heathen, the just and the cruel-- all burn with a sneer and an echoing cackle. She lacks faith in all things- perhaps even herself- and uses that lack of faith to justify her endless crusade. The world is nothing more than kindling for her to set ablaze, so that she may watch it all burn to the ground.

Enki: But since were all gonna die, theres one more secret I feel I have to share with you. I did not care for Warrior Cats.
D'arce: What?
Enki: Did not care for Warriors
Cahara: How can you even say that, dude?
Enki: Didnt like it.
D'arce: Enki, it's so good!
Enki: This is what everyone always said. Whenever they say...
Cahara: The Prophecies Begins, The New Prophecy, POWER OF THREE
Enki: Fine. Fine. Fine arcs, did not like the book series
Moonless: Why not?
Enki: Did not...couldn't get into it.
D'arce: Explain yourself.
Enki: It insists upon itself, D'arce.
D'arce: What?
Enki: It insists upon itself.
D'arce: What does that even mean?
Cahara: Because it has a valid point to make, it's insisted!
Enki: It takes forever getting in; ... You know, I can't I've never even finished The Last Hope
Cahara : YOU HAVENT FINISH OMEN OF THE STARS ?
Ragnvaldr: How can you say you don't like it if you haven't even given it a chance?
D'arce: I agree with Rag. It's not really fair.
Cahara: It's outrageous.
Enki: I have tried on three separate occasions to get through it, and I get to the scene where all the cats are about to fight the evil cats spirits from Hell.
D'arce: Yeah, it's a great scene. I love that scene.
Enki: I have no idea what they're talking about.
D'arce: You know what, Enki?
Cahara: Firestar and Hollyleaf are about to sacrifice themselves !
D'arce: The language they're speaking is a language of subtlety; it's something you don't understand.
Enki: I love Wings Of Fire. That is my answer to that statement.
D'arce: Exactly.
Enki: Well, there you go.
D'arce: Whatever.
Cahara : I like that book series, too.

A few of the leaders and fighters that the Stark kids admired....
"Daeren Targaryen was only fourteen when he conquered Dorne," Jon said. The Young Dragon was one of his heroes. - Jon, AGoT They were not little boys when they fought, but knights and mighty heroes. "I'm Prince Aemon the Dragonknight," Jon would call out, and Robb would shout back, "Well, I'm Florian the Fool." Or Robb would say, "I'm the Young Dragon," and Jon would reply, "I'm Ser Ryam Redwyne." - Jon, ASoS When the Young Dragon conquered Dorne, he used a goat track to bypass the Dornish watchtowers on the Boneway." When Jon had been a boy at Winterfell, his hero had been the Young Dragon, the boy king who had conquered Dorne at the age of fourteen. Despite his bastard birth, or perhaps because of it, Jon Snow had dreamed of leading men to glory just as King Daeron had, of growing up to be a conqueror. - Jon, ADwD
Bran was going to be a knight himself someday, one of the Kingsguard. Old Nan said they were the finest swords in all the realm. Their names were like music to him. Serwyn of the Mirror Shield. Ser Ryam Redwyne. Prince Aemon the Dragonknight. - Bran, AGoT "I just forget," Bran complained. "I'm only nine. I'll be better when I'm older. Even Florian the Fool and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight weren't great knights when they were nine." - Bran, ASoS
Q: In particular, given that Nymeria was a warrior-queen, is there a certain amazon tradition? A: “The Rhoynar did impact Dorne in a number of ways, some of which will be revealed in later books. Women definitely have more rights in Dorne, but I would not call it an “Amazon” tradition, necessarily. Nymeria had more in common with someone like Daenerys or Joan d'Arc than with Brienne or Xena the Warrior Princess.” - GRRM
Arya named hers (Direwolf) after some old witch queen in the songs - Bran, AGoT

CELESTE APPRECIATION post
I raerly see anyone mention her but i love her sm yes this is mostly like 98% hc shes only got like 5 lines in hole game what more do u want from me
anyways, my sweet sweet barely domesticated celeste :
-"Why did my husband come back with a child ,a dog ,a living skeleton, a man who can throw him around like he weights nothing and a knight(derogatory)" -Cahara's so wiped 4 her and honesty i would to if that was my wife, she def pegs him 2 btw i mean just look at him, my point exactly.
-gets along with Enki the most 2 everyone's surprise, there paper wight besties. & share a worrie for Cahara they will never verbalise as well a dislike for D'arc- i mean knights.
-celeste is d'arces first (and only) female friend, much to clestes own dismay.
-d'arce thought she was a gold digger at first, as you can tell they had a grate first impression of each other
-only trusts people about as far as she can throw them (rip rag , he can still man handle the group whore with ease tho so good for him)
-can not hold a convo with a child 2 save her life , the length of her mertanl intents extend to bringing the child 2 Cahara .
-she is not mother material but for some reason they're trying to keep a baby with a high infant mortality rate its funny
i think celeste probably didn't have great parents or a good role model, deadbeat drunkard parents that kicked her out and kind of left her to fend for herself & close of to the world and that's why she has such a disillusioned take on parenthood + where her own approach to children comes from but uh oh !! cahara wormed his way into her heart ! and who's to say his clear and utter devotion to this little girl cant win her over either i dont think either her or Cahara were going out of their way to get pregnant - it's like an unfortunate by-product of the nature of Celeste's career, and Cahara's love for her being what led to him being so willing to step up. i don't think either of them ever really thought about having kids, or at least didn't think they'd be good parents, but celeste getting pregnant or cahara bringing back a child is just the way life ended up going. it's the renaissance era, abortion methods are on par with childbirth in terms of deadliness anyway. she's just not going to have to keep risking her life via pregnancy if cahara goes out, gets enough coin to support them both, she's not going to be like every other peasant woman who's forced to become a broodmare because every 1 in 2 children fucking die before they turn 5. clesest being pregnant is just what ended up happening. the love in that is to do with their RELATIONSHIP, not their love for some idealistic family life. i think cahara wanting to give it a try is something celeste would think is really sweet and admirable, but she'd probly keep a lot of her more cynical thoughts to herself on the matter.
saying that i think they both have a lot of cynical thoughts about it really, but i cahara goes so quickly into "this is my wife, this is our future baby" because otherwise what's the point in taking on such a risky mission in the first place ? but if he's got a noble cause, then it might seem worth it, right ? it's that extra push of encouragement for him, even if it comes with a lot of scary things like the responsibility, being a parent, maybe settling down witch is a scary thought for someone whos always so used 2 being on the move
as for celeste ; she doesn't even know if she's going to make it through the pregnancy, or if the baby will. it's just another mouth to feed at the end of the day. she doesn't care about carrying on a legacy, or raising a child into greatness like so many others beg and plead of god to bestow upon their children. she knows she'd be a shit mom and she's hardly a loyal partner at the moment. but she loves cahara, and seeing that fear in his eyes when she told him, but also that spark of light, that little bit of joy, made it at least worth holding on for.
celeste: it's probably not going to make it anyway, i either risk death in childbirth or death in abortion methods, so. celeste: its getting me enough bank rn to keep myself healthy so we'll just see what happens i guess celeste watching cahara bring home an entire child:
okay cringe time over. i wont go into 2much detail about her relationship with the others though i think its a very slow process of her learning to tolerate get along with the creatures friends cahara brought back -as soon as celeste meets d'arce her mild suspicion and distaste for ragnvaldr will be replaced with her disgust for d'arce -think celeste would be pissed she wouldn't be able 2 pull cahara out of ragnvaldrs grip unless she stabbed him or something, witch shes both angry about it but also relieved since it probably kept cahara out of trouble in the dungeon (because lord knows her husband is a magnet for trouble) inside me there are 2 wolfs ; one is mmm hot stong wife carry cahara like a sack of pataos , the other is screaming at me that this is the 1600 and she would be starving and poor. so to compromise with myself im going 2 say : - physical speaking celsest is probly stronger then most women in her profession and could probly drag an unconscious cahara around then againg i also think cahras way ligher then someone of his build&carear should be shes stronger then enki (then againg who isnt) but cant match d'arces physical strength. saying that modern au Celeste would beat d'arce in an arm wrestle.
in-refence 2 my last post; celest is a child darkness, she has a barbie killer husband, there for. she deserves to be as much hater as she likes d'arce: you two are the healthiest couple i know who still have an avid sex life cahara: ASSUMPTIONS ! celeste: we're the only couple you know.
acholic wise i think celeste could out drink d'arce (and at least keep up with ragnvaldr for a little bit)
celeste: d'arce is a pain in the ass cahara: :confustion:  she means well babe cmon celeste: im gonna beat her with a stick cahara: ,, babe,,
cleseste is not payed enough 2 be d'arces therpist or help d'arce figure out she likes women (shes not payed at all actuly, she is simply trying 2 tolrate her husbands new freinds becuse she loves him but also only has so meny braincells she can lose in a day and conversing with d'arce seems 2 kill all of them)
celeste hears d'arce talk about jeanne once and instantly starts going "wow you loved a girl wow that girl who was like you in every way wow that girl who like. shared your morals. or something. wow tell me more about that girl" (stab stab stab metaphorically stab stab stab)
(about cahara getting arrsed and taken by the police) rag: you lack of concern,,, concerns me. are you not worried ? celeste: dogs always find their way back home.
- d'arce and cahara make the same enamoured and light-blush expression whenever celeste rages btw - celeste :handshake: enki taking the piss out of knights + a generally more cynical outlook on life & being cold bitches that secretly care about cahara a lot
(first time they all stayed the night) enki learning hes the favorite for once and he thinks its just the most hilarious thing to fucking happen local woman-lover put out by being rejected by hot scary wife, local berserker intimidated by what scary wife might do if she finds out what he did to her precious boytoy local shadow wizard ? on the floor ugly laughing because scary wife reluctantly asked if he wanted the guest bedroom.
celeste: YOURE NOT STAYING HERE PERMANENTLY. but youre allowed to stay overnight. enki: is this (gags) kindness ? oh my god. revolting. celeste: is that a yes or not you fucking worm enki: yesplease

do you have a favourite RWBY arc?
Hello anon!
Do you mean story-arc or character arc? I am just gonna go with character arcs because I feel like it :) Here is my list. It combines my personal taste with those I think are best written.
1- Penny Polendina
Tumblr media
Penny's arc is the best complete one in the series so far. It is thightly written and very powerful. Her final choice does what every character arc's climax should do: it ties togetyher all the thematic threads explored by Penny's arc in one incredibly meaningful moment. In the end, Penny chooses to be a friend, shows she is an adult and affirms her own humanity. Her choice is meant to be tragic and bittersweet because humanity can be both. Still, it is definately worth it.
1 - Cinder Fall
Tumblr media
Cinder's arc isn't complete, but there is already enough for her to get first place together with Penny. Midnight is the best written episode of the series in my opinion and it manages to tie together all the pieces of foreshadowing and subtext present in Cinder's story up until that point. It is also a pivotal point in Cinder's story, where she has to make a choice. Will she recognize she is still a prisoner of abuse or will she ignore this truth? She chooses to repress and fails to develop positively. As a result, she has prepared her own tragedy.
Cinder's story is key to the whole series and it has the potential to end up above all the other arcs, if well executed.
3 - Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiaolong
Tumblr media
Ice Girl and Fire Girl are tied for third place! (together with Jaune)
Weiss's arc has a very strong set-up and beginning. She gets a lot of focus at Beacon and quickly develops. After such a solid start her development can take the time to happen slowly, so that we can see how she has silently and beautifully evolved throughout the volumes. She is now warmer, kinder and happier than ever. Points for her having some of my favourite motifs.
Yang's arc is kind of the opposite, in my opinion. She gets the least focus among the 4 main girls in Vale. Still, the moment her arc decides to roll, it gets central stage. Her focus in Mistral is wonderful and her development is beautifully conveyed in volume 5 and volume 6 climaxes. Her confrontation with Raven is especially one of the best scenes of the series.
3 - Jaune D'Arc
Tumblr media
Jaune's arc is one of the best executed both in terms of pacing and evolution of the character. If he keeps going this way, he might climb to first place tbh.
6 - Ruby Rose
Tumblr media
I am expecting her to climb higher. Her focus in volume 9 was great and a beautiful first step in her development. The choice to mask her LRRH's story behind Alice in Wonderland references was wonderful and brilliantly executed. I think the ending could have been conveyed more powerfully, but the final result is still great. I am looking forward to how her arc will continue!
7 - Blake Belladonna and Oscar Pine
Tumblr media
Blake's arc is beautiful and it ties together many thematic threads. Maybe a little bit too much, which is why it is below the other main characters. She is still wonderful though! And the more one analyzes her story, the more gems are found!
Tumblr media
Oscar is one of the best written characters in my opinion, as his story is thight and perfectly intertwined with the main plot. Still, I think it has still to enter its climax, hence why he is only 7th place. Totally expecting him to climb higher, though.
9 - Emerald Sustrai
Tumblr media
Emerald's arc has still to climax, but I like her set-up a lot and she is slowly going through a beautiful inner growth. There is already enough meet and actual development for her to just make the top 10 :P
9 - Pyrrha Nikos and James Ironwood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both have masterfully written arcs and in terms of writing they could be higher. Still, I am less involved in their stories compared to others. In any case, they are two perfectly executed examples of tragedies. And different kinds of tragedies, as well.
Pyrrha's tragedy lies in the world around her. Ironwood's tragedy lies within himself.
11 - Lie Ren and Qrow Branwen
Both Ren and Qrow have beautiful arcs, but I am less involved with them when compared to others. So, here they are.
I would highlight this list doesn't consider characters like Salem, Nora, Raven, Summer or Mercury because even if set-up, their arcs still need to properly happen on-screen. Among them, though, I would say that Raven and Mercury especially have wonderful set-ups.
Tumblr media
Raven's characterization and focus in volume 5 makes her one of the best written characters tbh. She is despicable, flawed, a coward and a hypocrite. And this is precisely why she is so great. She is very human and layered. It is clear she cares about Yang. Still, it is also clear she is too selfish and scared to act on her feelings. The way the narrative peels away her powerful mask to reveal a weak soul behind it is great. As it is the challenge for her to overcome her fear and make amends.
Tumblr media
Mercury has so far one of the best set-up arc. His writing has been extremely thight and almost every scene he is in gives additioinal information on him, his background, his bonds with others and his feelings. All in a very subtle way. Basically, his writing is very rich and we can infer a lot, despite his arc having yet to start. He is the embodyment of the cycle of abuse and I am curious to see how this concept gets explored.
Finally, shout outs to Neo and Ilia. Their arcs aren't as complex or long and have less bits than the main characters'. Still, they are thight and perfectly executed.
Thank you for the ask!

I know this probably exists already/better, but enjoy this list of Fear & Hunger Souls, Complete with personal (flawed) interpretation; Both types confirmed and not!
Endless: Adventuring or theiving, Tresspassing or Vigilantising- The rogue's soul. Held by Cahara, Nilvan, and Karin. Seems to be a soul of freedom- No rules apply above their own, moral or not.
Enlightened: Knowledge and the Pursuit of it, enstrengthening one's mind and becoming closer to the Gods- The Scholar's soul. Held by Enki, Valteil, and O'saa. Seems to connect with knowledge and learning, Notably in regards to Magic/the Old Gods.
The question is, would an enlightened soul be inclined to pursue non-godly knowledges? Like, science or something?
Tormented: Suffering, Loss, Endurance, Overcoming one's phyiscal limits- The Prisoner's Soul. Held by Ragnavidr, Ronn Chambara, and August. Seems to be a double edged sword- You will suffer, but you will endure it.
Dominating/Domination: Charisma, Leadership, Interpersonal Skill, and a Lack of Reflection- The Leader's Soul. Held by D'arce and Francois. While not always in positions of power, it seems that Dominating Souls are inclinded towards interaction, whether human or not- When unable or unwilling to remain human, Francois instead breeds and raises his hounds. Stubborness and a lack of introspection may also connected, as both characters that have this soul type are displayed with this trait.
Notably, none of the Main Termina Cast have this soul type.
For the others, there are only one known holder each soul type to my knowledge. Therefore, we can only look at the individuals for information.
Solitary: Independence, Survival, Introversion, Withdrawal- The very concept of being alone. The Hermit's Soul. Held by Levi.
Is there a notable difference between "forcibly excluded" and "personally chosen" solitudes for the individual?
Caressing: Care and concern- Caretaking. Held by Abella. Most clearly shown in her backstory, where she picks up working against the war.
Shadowed: Overlooked, capable- Assumedly hardworking/passionate. Held by Olivia.
Tainted: Defined by contradictory actions and thoughts- Bad things, good reasons. Held by Marcoh.
It could very well be a variance from "Petty theif feeding family" to "Robin Hood" to "Mercenary w/o empathy for victims". Its hard to narrow down.
Changeling: Adaptiblity and resilience- When others would break, changeling souls bend. Held by Marina.
Could it represent variance? idk brain's fuzzy.
Latent: Untapped potential, inability to give all. Held by Tanaka.
Could it attract death? Or is Tanaka just super unlucky?
Radiating: Burns bright, then burns out. Short but exceptional life. Held by Samarie
I dont like Samarie, but her life was certainly beyond normality- even in universe.
Blank: A subdued nature- Quiet, a background character. Held by Da'an.
Da'an doesn't get moonscorched, instead getting possesed by Pocketcat- Could it that his soul allowed him to be overwritten by pocketcat?
Chaotic: Goal oriented, but two-faced- Willing to do anything to get what they want. Cares little for alliances. Held by Pav.
Decrepit: Self absorbed and uncaring- Cares only about self and own pleasure. Held by Caligura.
I don't have a complete grasp on some of them- Changeling, Blank, Chaotic and Decrepit are all some level of unsatisfying to me, but I dont know how to improve them.
And then there's Henryk' Suffocated soul- I have no fucking clue. Is it repression based? Want based? The opposite? I don't understand Henryk very well, and that means I can't break him down into his "base components" so to speak. He's a catcaller, a master chef who feeds the entire group for free, and potentially the first moonscorched. He's skilled with melee weapons, a massive flirt, and poisons a vulnerable group if given the chance. All of that is great, but tells me NOTHING about his soul.
Guess that's what happens when your main claim to fame is "mysterious backstory", lol!
Anyway. Enjoy this blurb of my thought process! Please feel free to let me know what I got wrong/missed!

Kyuubi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica crawls into Edward's window.
"Contract with me and I'll grant your wish," says the incubator. (If he questions too much, Kyuubi will cheerfully non-explain that it's vital Edward make a wish to help stave off the end of the universe.)
What's Edward wishing for, and whats his fate look like as a magical boy?
It depends on how much power level we're willing to ascribe to Edward here. The amount you can change with your wish is dependent on your karmic destiny and how much you influence the lives of those around you and in the future.
The biggies we see in canon are Madoka (who turns out to be the focal point of several realities), Homura (who rewrites several realities), Kyoko (whose father founded a religious doctrine), Cleopatra (queen of a nation immortalized in defeat), Jeanne D'Arc (a canonized saint), and basically, well, legendary fgures.
Edward may have turned out to be more important than he should have been (the people in Seattle dying inadvertently because of his decisions, having a confrontation with the Volturi, all the people he ate personally, etc.) but he's really not that big of a deal and at least what we see of canon as now he doesn't affect that many people on a global scale.
In other words he might have more juice than Sayaka who was leading a very ordinary life but he's probably not going to be a truly heavy hitter who can change things on a global scale.
The Wish
Edward's wish is obvious: he wants to eradicate the world of vampirism. His family, all vampires (especially Bella and Renesmee), will turn back into humans.
Kyuubey feels very awkward because ah, the thing is Edward, you aren't quite powerful enough for that.
You could turn yourself back into a human, perhaps even your whole family, but all the vampires in the world is just too much.
Edward's very upset at this as if he's being offered a miraculous wish then there shouldn't be a limit to the miracle he can perform (but it is still a miracle, Kyuubey points out, not that Edward appreciates this much)
Edward now has a decision.
Of course he'll turn his family back into humans but if there are still vampires out there can he risk turning himself back too?
He ultimately decides against it (especially if post-canon the Volturi are out there).
The family doesn't react like Edward expects them to. They're not all joyous, Bella especially is imploding, and Renesmee is not functioning well with this at all.
Edward feels hurt and betrayed that they don't understand what he sacrificed for them.
It then gets worse when Edward realizes he can't live with them. He's a vampire, they're humans, he himself is the greatest risk to their existence.
He tragically goes to stalk them from the shadows, promising to watch over their existence.
And for a few weeks, this is fine.
Edward fights witches, everything's great, and his family are living blessed human lives.
Then Bella asks Edward to be a vampire again.
She points out he made this decision once before already and that they're back where they started. Bella will die, Edward will be alone again, and Bella wants to be a vampire with Edward forever.
Edward, has a dawning realization that Bella... doesn't get it. She's now been a vampire, she's felt the thirst, become this inhuman creature and she'd still throw her humanity away.
Edward realizes that he doesn't know Bella as he had always assumed that when she turned (when she turned despite everything) she would get it.
He rejects her and tries not to think about it.
Then Renesmee dies. Renesmee, having never been human or known human limitations, likely gets into an accident somehow which leads to a lethal injury.
(Jacob, of course, likely kills himself at this point now that his gravity is gone. Bella can't stop it.)
Bella, having been rejected and emotionally devestated, blames Edward. His daughter was immortal, his family was perfect, and he fucked it up for no reason. They weren't even eating people! No one was hurt by their existence! Now look at what's happened?!
Bella likely has a mental breakdown with Renesmee and Jacob dead and Edward essentially out of reach.
Edward is reminded by Kyuubey that this is what mortality is.
Edward now has no wife and no daughter. He's devestated, but tries to pull through. Kyuubey's right, this is what mortality is, AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL DAMMIT.
Then the rest of the Cullens get cancer.
See, turning back into humans wasn't a natural process for their cells to take. This left them vulnerable and prone to cell mutation.
Carlisle decides to get the Denali to turn him again. He doesn't mind being a vampire and has no wish to waste away from cancer. He'll go by fire, thanks.
Esme also agrees to be a vampire because of this, as then Edward can rejoin the family.
Emmett gives Rosalie a look.
A long look.
Rosalie, who was so eager to try for children again (which turned out not to be possible because infinite despair) now has only a human future where her family is fractured and she will not survive to old age.
But she can't become a vampire again.
Rosalie chooses chemo and to hope for the best. Emmett chooses to stay with her though tries to convince her to just turn already and increasingly despairs over what looks like it will be his own death.
Edward's despair is when he realizes his family resents him, he destroyed what he loved most, they turned into vampires anyway or else died horribly, and his life has only brought despair to those around him.

Hi Julie, thank you for this request - I couldn't decide which suitors to write for, so I wrote some headcanons for them all. Hope you enjoy. And Happy early Birthday to Jean!
Part of the 'Tis the Season for Love Content Creator Challenge hosted by @voltage-vixen and @xxsycamore - prompt: sipping hot chocolate and then stealing a kiss
SIPPING HOT CHOCOLATE AND STEALING A KISS - IKEMEN SERIES HEADCANONS (Jean d'Arc, Luke Randolph, Harr Silver, Kennyo)
Tumblr media
Jean d'Arc
It was a particularly cold day; even sitting by the fire in the mansion didn't do much to warm you.
Jean noticed you were shivering and wrapped you in his arms. You gazed into his violet eyes and had a better idea.
You took him by the hand and led him to the kitchen. "You didn't want to cuddle?" he asked?
"Let's make some hot chocolate together."
Jean looked at you funny.
"Jean...have you never had hot chocolate before?"
He blinked at you. "Hot...chocolate?"
Oh boy.
You started to pull out the ingredients, grateful that Sebastian kept a well stocked kitchen.
You showed Jean how to whisk the cocoa powder into the warm milk, placing your hand over his when he began to whisk the milk to a near pulp.
"Slow down, Jean. Like this." Your fingers grazed his, the warmth from the stove much needed and comforting.
You remained behind him, wrapping your free arm around his waist in a tender embrace, recalling memories of your youth and how your mother would make this same recipe for you on cold winter days.
When the drink was done, you poured it into two mugs and brought it back to the salon where the fire was still roaring.
Bringing your mug to your lips, you lightly blew on the beverage. Jean watched you, and followed in your steps.
"Gentle...you don't want to spill your drink," you warned him.
Jean waited for you to take the first sip. Bringing the mug to his mouth he took a small sip. "How do you like it?"
"It's hot," he replied with a small smile. "It's good."
He then stole a quick kiss leaving a smile on your lips.
"You had some on your mouth," he said. "It tastes better from your lips," he added, taking another sip from his mug.
Luke Randolph
Luke firmly held your hand, his large hand warm on this cold day, as you both walked through the winter markets.
"I'm running low on my favorite honey and I was hoping to find the stand here that sold it," he said, craning his neck searching for his favorite shop.
You smiled, knowing how much your bear loved his honey. You kept an eye out too as you passed stalls selling scarves and hats and cakes and teas.
But no honey in sight.
"Mhmm, that smells good," Luke announced.
You took in a deep breath, the scent of warm chocolate filling your lungs. "Care to take a break and grab a beverage?"
"Sounds great," he replied, leading you to take source of the delicious scent.
You soon found the source of the scent - a cart selling piping hot mugs of hot chocolate.
After the merchant handed you each a mug, you took a moment to breathe in the rich chocolate aroma.
Luke quickly took a large gulp from his drink. "It's not honey, but it's sweet." He smiled at you as you both savored the warm drink in silence.
After you both drained your mugs, you continued on your search for honey. But you did not have far to go.
"Luke, look!" you called out, spotting the sweet and sticky substance nestled not far from the hot chocolate stand.
Luke's grass green eyes widened as he stopped in his tracks. He turned to you and gave you a quick kiss.
"What was that for?" you asked, surprised.
"If you hadn't suggested stopping for hot chocolate, we might not have found the honey. So thank you."
Luke stole one final kiss before heading towards the jars of honey. "The honey might be sweet, but you are sweeter."
Harr Silver
Harr and Loki had been out all afternoon by the lake catching fish for dinner.
It was a chilly, winter day and you wanted to surprise them with a treat. You thought there would be nothing sweeter than to return home to a fresh pot of hot chocolate.
After gathering all the ingredients, you happily brewed the drink, excited to surprise them with the treat.
Loki bounced through the door first. He gave a quick wave and mumbled something about needing to check something in his room.
Harr soon followed after, carrying a small basket of fish. Smiling, you greeted him and took the basket from him to bring into the kitchen.
When you returned, you were carrying two cups of hot chocolate, the steam still rising from the top.
"I thought you'd like something hot after spending the afternoon out in the cold," you said, handing him a mug.
Harr smiled softly at you, quietly thanking you. "This is quite good," he commented, after taking a sip.
"I only wish Loki had stayed to join us." You had grown use to the family unit the three of you created since moving into the treehouse. While you appreciated alone time with Harr, you also enjoyed spending time with Loki as well.
Harr's eyes narrowed, his silver gaze darkening. "I must disagree."
A slight flush crept on your cheeks, a soft smile spread on your lips.
Harr leaned over and kissed you, his lips sweet from the hot chocolate. "I will never turn down the opportunity to spend time alone with you," he whispered.
Kennyo
"Have you ever had hot chocolate?" you asked Kennyo as you walked hand in hand down the modern day streets of Japan.
Having traveled through the wormhole to present time, Kennyo was like a fish out of water, much like you were when you first traveled through the wormhole to the Sengoku period.
You had wanted Kennyo to experience all of your favorite things while you were here. When you passed by the cafe, the familiar aroma of warm chocolate wafting through the air, you suddenly felt a craving for the hot beverage on this winter day.
It felt good to come inside from the chilly wind and quickly found a spot in a secluded corner.
You ordered the drinks - plain, no whipped cream or marshmallow so that the pure chocolate taste could be appreciated.
Kennyo smiled as you passed him the beverage, his finger grazing yours, lingering longer than it should.
Taking a sip, the chocolate was sweet on your tongue, its warmth easing the winter chill in your bones.
Peering over the rim of your mug, you were curious if Kennyo was enjoying it.
"I like it," he replied with a small smile. "But next time," he said gesturing to the other patrons in the cafe, "I want that fluffy stuff and toppings on mine like they're having."
Giggling, you stole a kiss from him, his lips warm and sweet, happy to experience all your favorite things with the man you loved.

hai ari whats ur dream fashion style? not like what you dress like now, but what u wish u could wear? :33
Well, 15th century armour of many varieties...
This is the early 15th century style -note the smooth, short breastplate and the relatively long fauld or 'skirt of plates' to protect the lower abdomen. This is the kind of armour that would have been worn by Jeanne d'arc, and indeed her English enemies.
Tumblr media
The early 15th century is also where we start to see the dying out of cloth coverings for most soldiers, like these rather fetching fellows and their excellent tabard. There's a move towards bare metal as the 1400s progress.
Tumblr media
Further forward we see the Burgundian style come into its own, and I really do like their look. I do love me some brigandine, something like what the fellow in white is wearing.
Tumblr media
Something that also appears in Burgundy are various depictions of the armour people belived the great heroes of the past wore -this is fantasy armour in a time when plate armour was arguably at its peak importance, and it looks cool as fuck.
Tumblr media
Following this, we have the pinnacle of the German Gothic style. And goddamn is that shit sexy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Special mention to brigandine again. That shit slaps So hard, it's almost as proctective as full solid plate (there's not much in it), it's more flexible and it looks SO GOOOOOD like look at this shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this is a more fantastical design but it still holds up)
Tumblr media
Plus, they can get SUUUUPER fancy too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second of these isn't a super high quality image but I've seen it in person and it is stunning. The fabric it uses is actually an off-cut from the late Queen Elizabeth II's sofa!
Plus, special mention to chinese brigandine armour, of which there are so many cool styles. this is a Ming dynasty example, and man I gotta learn more about chinese arms and armour it looks cool as shit
Tumblr media
Aside from medieval armour, I do very much dig the sorta fantasy-piratical aesthetic. Tall boots, corsets, funky hats, big long flowing coats and frilly shirts... What's not to love!?

I saw you were a Fear And Hunger fan! I was curious, can you imagine any kink headcanons for the playable Termina contestants? Who are your favourite characters and why btw? I’m so glad to have someone as cool as you a part of the fandom 💕💖💕💕
I'm gonna be real, this isn't really a fandom blog, but every now and then I'll humor stuff like this.
Termina is a great sequel, but I think I'm a little more partial to the first game, for some reason. The contestants are uninteresting to me, I'm a monsterfucker, I could care less what humans are into. Their moonscorched forms however, yes that's more to my tastes. Specifically Chaugnar (whatever gender they are in this form), the Gentleman, Dysmorphia and the Mastermind. I do like Samarie however, purely because she's entirely unhinged and stalkerish and- Well- I do love my yanderes.
Needless to say, I'm much more into the monsters of Termina than I am the contestants. Sorry to disappoint.
My favorite characters from the second game are Daan and Samarie. I love the complexity behind them and seeing their tales get spun into several different ends, each more gruesome and tragic than the last, is satisfying.
From the first game, I love D'arce and Enki. They're polar opposites. D'arce is a sweet woman who honestly doesn't deserve this, and Enki is generally a piece of shit, I'd like to shove my boot up his ass. But there's a lot more characters that I love from the original.
My favorite gods have to be All-Mer, Sylvian, and Chambara.
[Aww, don't fluster me like that 🤍. The universe of Fear and Hunger is absolutely brutal and bleak and I flock to that type of media like moths to a flame. It's absolutely astounding. I adore the gods, the deformed entities, the inevitable honest tragedy and sheer devastation sweeping every instance of these games. It's brilliant.]

Round 8, Day 4 - All Teams (Quiz Answers)
I see you've finished the quiz! Let's go through the answers, shall we?
Question 1: The Fairy King Oberon, while often record as a king of the faeries, is also conflated as a ruler of…
Answer: Dwarves! In many French tales, Oberon (or rather Aubéron) is noted as being dwarfish, both in height and in heritage. He is also considered to be a parallel to Alberich, a Germanic king of supernatural beings such as elves, dwarves, and fae.
I can see many of you, based on recent events, decided to go with 'Dragons'. However, Oberon has little to no ties to dragons historically. Additionally, due to 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' taking place in a Greek-inspired setting, I can understand how some may have thought he ruled over dryads as well as faeries.
Question 2: Jeanne d'Arc, the famed Holy Maiden that participated in the Hundred Years' War, was born where?
Answer: Domrémy! Many of you seemed to get this one, very good!
Jeanne d'Arc, despite what one may assume from her attributed name (and the anglicized version 'Joan of Arc'), did not come from a place called 'Arc'. Rather 'd'Arc' is considered corruption of her father's name.
Additionally, while Orléans was a major location in Jeanne's military career, it was not her hometown. Though you could consider it possibly where the legend of 'Jeanne d'Arc' was etched into human history.
Question 3: The great sea beast Leviathan is often thought to represent what deadly sin…?
Answer: Envy! Once again, the majority of you seemed to get this one correct.
The Leviathan is noted to be an ancient primordial chaos-beast, ever changing and constantly consuming. While 'wrath' and 'greed' may be good fits for such a creature, ultimately he is representative of the sin of 'envy'.
Question 4: The Shimonoseki War, of which Takasugi Shinsaku participated, began in what year?
Answer: 1863! It seems we have quite a few historians within our midst!
It lasted for several weeks in 1863, and had a brief resurgence in 1864.
Question 5: What type of animal is Ganesha's mount, Mushika?
Answer: A mouse! It seems as if this one tripped up a considerable amount of you.
While Ganesha is known as an elephant-headed god of massive stature, he's known to travel around on a rodent named Mushika, or the 'little hoarder'. Some may have found the idea of an elephant riding a mouse a bit curious, but the gods aren't as limited in their choices as humans, and they often pick their mounts for a reason- and there are a few stories relating to how and why Ganesha and Mushika came to be allies.
Keen-eyed players may have realized that Mushika has been accompanying his master this entire time!
Tumblr media
Question 6: What was the name of the ship Edmond Dantes sailed on before he was falsely arrested for treason?
Answer: The Pharaon!
Charon, while known as a boatman of the dead, may have seemed like a correct answer for potential thematic purposes, the actual name of the ship was slightly different.
Edmond Dantès served as the first mate of the ship, briefly taking over for the captain's duties when the captain had passed away. He was charismatic, kind-hearted, and had a promising future, which made his arrest and betrayal all the more devastating.
Question 7: When the Voyager 1 launched in 1977, it carried the Golden Record with it. What was the Golden Record made of?
Answer: Gold-Plated Copper!
While records are often made of vinyl, such a material would decay quickly while out in space. Copper, on the other hand, would last for much longer and be less prone to chemical processes breaking it down. The gold-plated copper would be stable for a much longer amount of time, keeping it relatively intact as the Voyager continued its journey through the stars.
I would have accepted 'Humanity's Dreams' as an answer if you had felt like being cheeky.

June 12th 1429 saw an army led by Joan of Arc defeat the English at the Battle of Jargeau.
I've posted about Joan of Arc and indeed the 100 year war before, the Scots were heavily involved with both the Maid of Orléans and the long conflict between France and England.
Joan had helped lift the Siege of Orléans the previous month, where Scots are known to have been present, Jargeau was a small town on the southern bank of the Loire river in central France, about ten miles east of Orléans., this was Joan's first offensive action during her short life.
While I can find no evidence that there were Scots at the battle, I would be surprised that there would have been none, they would however have been ordinary foot soldiers , certainly there were no Knights.
So what's the point of the post? Well just another wee connection with Scotland had with Jeanne d’Arc, as she is known in her native France, the banner she carried into battle was painted by a Scot called Hamish Power or Hauves Poulvoir as the French knew him. Joan asked Hamish to paint her her standard and pennon, to her designs, Power has been described as a displaced Scot, living in Tours.
The standard was 3 feet wide and 12 feet long. The image was a field of golden lilies with an image of "the King of Heaven seated upon a rainbow, and holding in one hand the world in the form of a globe, the other being raised in a gesture of benediction. Before Him, to right and to left, were the kneeling figures of Michael and Gabriel, each presenting to Him a fleur-de-lys. Joan's motto "Jhesus-Maria was written in letters of gold on this rough material. " on the reverse was " an escutcheon: a field of azure charged with a silver dove holding in its beak a streamer with the words "De par le Roy di Ciel." The standard was the "fluttering sign" to which her army could rally when dispersed in confusion of battle.
The Pennon depicted the Annunciation, the Virgin Mary receiving from the Archangel Gabriel a double lily, which was the twofold symbol of France and of chastity. It was carried by one of her squires to mark her position in the field.
Joan spoke about the banners at her trial, testifying that it had been created by the command of God and that she was given instructions about the design by Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret who told her to take it and bear it boldly.
When Joan and the dauphin rode to the Reims Cathedral for the coronation on July 17, 1429, she rode with a Scots Guard of 60 men.
She later stated that she preferred to carry her banner into battle so that she would not have to kill anyone. "I loved my banner forty times better than my sword. And when I went against my enemy, I carried my banner myself, lest I kill any. I have never killed anyone."
Joan carried her banner at the coronation of Charles VII in the Cathedral of Reims and was later questioned at her trial about having it there to which she responded: "It had borne the burden; it was quite right that it receive the honour."
You can find more about the remarkable lady that Joan of Arc was at this great site below, the klink takes you to part of her testimony when she was found guilty of witchcraft and heresy by pro-English bishop Pierre Cauchon, who sentenced her to be burnt at the stake. She died on 30th May 1431 aged just 19.
