being quarantined with my characters

Cato: 100000000000/10 like GOD i'd love to be quarentined with her. You'd never go hungry this girl is always making something. she wants to watch alll the horror movies, and she wants to do all the cute little pinterest idea things. Pretty much by the end your house would look like it's from pinterest. Also she'd make those cupcakes that look like ducks. That needs to be said. she would also zoom with her family like alll the time. zoom with her friends too. She needs that social interaction. She'd also wanna go on walks with you!! with a mask ofc, though don't get annoyed when she says good morning to every single tree Rose: 5/10 like, she's okay but she's also like. You wouldn't really see her a whole lot? she probably broods a lot cause she's seen plauge before. but if she's feeling nice she'll try to cook you something! It prob doesn't turn out well but it's the though that counts. She makes amazing playlists tho. Like turn one of those bad bois on and it'll be a blast. She will probably bug you sometimes, but that's only when her intrusive thoughts get real bad and she needs human interaction. Has a shit ton of fun stories tho. She would 100% turn on disney movies with you and sing along and no i'm not bitter that she's a better singer than me Nat: 6/10 she'd be fun, would def dance naked under the moonlight with her. She'd use that time to work on her witchcraft and focus on herself. She usually orders food cus like,, she will not be cooking. you order from really nice places tho so that's a plus. If you don't like crystals or candles etc. then you're gonna have a bad time because she will n o t shut up about it. personally I'd love it, def wanna talk witch stuff with her. Vixen would be fun too. happy boi loves naps Safiya: 8/10 another person you wouldn't see too often. She likes her alone time and is proably annoyed that she's stuck with someone. But like. She doesn't really bother you. Spends a lot of time in the woods, so you kind of get the house to yourself. Don't mess it up tho, she'll get grumpy. When she's feeling nice, she'll watch a movie with you, or teach you how to woodcarve. Won't laugh if you mess up, she'll just point out different technuiqes. She feeds deer and babytalks to them you caught her doing this and she doesn't speak to you for a week. but she's super chill. you'd probably watch a lot of stiduo ghibli and she def cries but will not admit it. if you like having your hair braided- then she might braid it. only cause "i'm getting really stircrazy" yea sure Safiya I belive you Chizu would prob be like a 5/10. She'd be fine for a while but then she'd get so stircrazy. like. she must do something. anything. So she goes to you. "Hey. Entertian me i'm bored." She probably says so you kinda sit there like :/ she likes going on long drives. doesn't talk much, just plays music and looks out the window. she would learn how to make hot chocolate and suddenly- she's always making it. like Chizu you do not need hot chocolate at three am but whatever makes her happy another person who has lots of stories to tell, and she would tell you (after a lot of convincing) let her do your nails plsss, or you could do hers. doesn't matter. spa day. this will be happening. after time goes on she's less bitchy and you end up cuddling under blankets watching somtin like Criminal Minds- to which Chizu will then go on and crituiqe each episode Mary is like. idk. 6/10? at first she does not see the point to all of this so she's like h u h - but she'll stay inside. BONUS THO you live in a big ass mansion so if you don't wanna talk to her- you don't have to just move to the other side of the house. like fr, you could live together and not see each other o n c e. but like, eventually she'll seek you out cuz like, she's bored. she'll bug you for a bit- she is def the person that orders too much dumb shit from amazon like pls, Mary. S T O P she'll do your hair tho. 10/10 does it really well. can't cook tho. can barely make tea. so that's kind of up to you cus she's a vampire n all. she tries to get some hobbies but ends up starting one- gets bored- starts another- gets bored... you get the idea. lots of unfinished projects around the house

The funniest shit is they are so fucking transphobic.

But they called me he, she, and they. Like they kept switching pronouns.

Like, bitch. If never seen a transphobe be so damn validating.

They made me feel valid as hell as a nonbinary because they couldn't figure out how to misgender me.

Also, one of them said they were reclaiming abelist slurs.

And I don't speak for people with intellectual disabilities, but I've got a few friends with intellectual disabilities, and they tend to view reclaiming slurs very differently than other minorities.

Also, I'm not accusing them if lying, but I really do hope when they said they're reclaiming the r slur that they mean they have an intellectual disability and not like... depression or something. Because I've been called the r slur because of my auditory processing disorder, but I'd never think that it's my slur to reclaim.

Also they never did reply when I told them calling me crazy and psycho was sexist just as much as it was abelist. Like they're bitching at me for being sexist while using words that were used to institutionalize women that wouldn't submit to their man. Wtf.

Also just the audacity to not only accuse Yinx of lying about being black AGAIN but then demanding that I, a white person, check Yinx on using the n word? They're really demanding a white person tell a Black person to not use the n word? Wtf? That's not my place.

I don't know. All I know is I don't have to apologize for my use of the word bitch.

As someone who has never seen American Horror Story can you explain it to me - but like badly? (Think cards against humanity type vibes).

Like, I love Evan Peters, but I dont think I can watch ahs and see him the same way again, as I tend to conflate actors with the characters they portray sometimes - and I know ahs is kinda f**ked up.

ok i completely understand and thats my problem with watching svu and the guest stars (also why i immediately Did Not vibe with leonard in umbrella academy. bc he was Not a good guy on svu) but idk why ahs doesnt do that for me. maybe cuz evan peters has been peter maximoff to me for YEARS.

but anyway. basically...

murder house: there is a house. with murder. and plenty of other fucked up things. and ghosts. two of which are teenagers that are wayyyy to edgey for their own good. and everyone else's.

asylum: psychological thriller that for some reason needed aliens and demons and a fake anne frank. the best season if you forget all the Weird stuff like murder santa klaus and just focus on the actual sound writing and legitimate horror and good characters.

coven: witches??? idk there wasn’t a plot but they were hot and one of them was stevie nicks.

freakshow: characters singing bowie and nirvana even though this is set in like early 60s, late 50s? idk, the bowie i’d almost let slide but was kurt cobain even born yet? um also ig there was xmen-type social commentary but circus themed. and a little bitchy pissboy rich white boy who i hated. and murder clowns.

hotel: lady gaga vores someone during her introduction to tear you apart by she wants revenge. that’s all you need to know basically.

roanoke: oh you like meta?? you like documentaries?? what about horror???? have you ever seen the blair witch project?????? how about paranormal activity????? is keeping up with the kardashians your favorite show??? picture that but british sarah paulson.

cult: that blue haired girl from history class looks really different here (i can say that because i had blue hair during apush)

apocalypse: they have the audacity to have billie lourd reference ‘dark phoenix’ to evan peters. ONTOP of the name of the season and after having him cry to time in a bottle. AND while having a more confusing timeline than the xmen movies themselves.

1984: idk i didn’t watch it for the same reasons sarah paulson didn’t

If you had the chance to rewrite zexal what would you change abt it and what you you put more focus on?

😳 Okay well… Let’s see. I’m no writer. And admittedly, I’m not as versed in episode citing as much as other people I know. I’m just that person who, after watching something else, will come back to zexal and look at it wondering: “Why is literally nothing happening ever?” So bear in mind my lack of tact and proper vocabulary.

I’d probably keep it more or less the same… but with a couple shifts here and there. More indulgent stuff on my end is having the Numbers Club y’know, actually DO things. And it’d be nice to have Astral and Yuma have a slight falling out and work build up trust again post-sargasso before he dies.

Most of what my brain jumps to when it comes to “stuff in zexal i’d wanna full on rewrite” revolves almost primarily around Rio and Nasch stuff since I don’t really like it’s execution in the first place. …And Tori. But Tori might likely have to be a separate discussion altogether. So, I guess I’m trying to make a more semi-realistic scenario within certain boundaries? Ex. No adding other episodes, and if something is taken away something new must be added in. And aside from one duel, duels will remain the same.

FIRST AND FOREMOST: Rio is not killed off for a second time once she wakes up. Her being in a coma fundamentally doesn’t change her role at all as a person giving out “premonitions” whatsoever. It’s actually kind of insane. I’m not gonna go through everything just major moments. A lot and also very little goes on within episodes, I’ll just rely folk can fill in the blanks.

So for some mindfulness, from Abyss onwards, Rio is here.

SHARK VS. ABYSS and then some follow up:

Originally, this set of episodes involved Rio being possessed, and Shark fights Abyss and from there we learn about the Nasch and Merag stuff. Mostly the latter but for some reason focus is on Shark. Rio is then promptly put into a coma again and Shark wangst happens from here on out until the face-heel turn during the Astral World arc.

I’d probably make it start with… Idk. I feel like the original beginning of the episode works fine since it begins with visions being had by Rio. Blah blah, she’s confused, time to find another number. It’s in a weird spot in the middle of the ocean. For whatever reason, this area in the ocean feels really distressing for her. But, regardless, instead of a storm hitting and Rio suddenly going “missing”— as the crew tries deciphering the location, her “powers” take over and cursed by something unknown she jumps from the airship into the sea, followed by Shark who dives in after her (and yuma dives in after shark). Very dumb but the episode must start somehow. And this is likely played more seriously but I can’t help but laugh a bit at the thought.

Shark awakes in an undersea labyrinth, and somehow isn’t dead. Wtf? But hey! He found Rio nearby and she’s okay! The goal is finding the number tho, and her “powers” lead them to it. And uh oh here we go. A guardian is here to keep them from taking it. (As for Yuma, he and Astral’s sideplot about getting lost in the labyrinth is exactly the same, so dw about this)

The duel??? I said I wouldn’t change most, but this is a major exception. I’m making it Shark and Rio VS. Abyss. A two on one duel. We never once saw Rio and Shark play off each other in a duel setting when working together, and I feel like that was a prime missed opportunity. Especially for characters who just episodes prior, had this really weird one v. one duel. This needs something of a resolution. ALSO The memories here do involve both of them, so let both of them go ham.

However, since the memory flashbacks tend to tie into Merag a liiiittle more already (and the more major Nasch stuff will come later), Rio should be the first person to experience the Barian memories out of the two of them. We already got a bit of that with her visions at the start. As the duel progresses, Rio becomes more distressed by what she’s experiencing. During the duel Rio has lots of out of body experiences, on the one hand she’s present in the duel. On the other hand, she slips back into living life as Priestess Merag. But, for some reason, he doesn’t have a lot of control of herself?

But obviously, what Rio remembers is far worse since she pretty much relives her own death and can’t control her “mind.”

Meanwhile, Shark also goes through his vision onslaught, clearly thinking majority of this is some kind of manipulation tactic by Abyss. Episode more or less plays out the same minus damsel stuff. Durbe confronting Yuma and Astral still happens, Abyss being cryptic as hell still occurs and you know. Anyway, they win and get the number, and they all reappear on the deck of the airship knocked out. Everyone wakes up, it feels like a dream but they have the number?? So it couldn’t be?? Rio wakes up last though, which momentarily scares Shark.

TIME FOR REFLECTION!! Rio is fine, but clearly shaken. All those visions she saw… they meant something. Something inside her is telling her that. While Shark too is distraught and stressed by what he experienced during the duel… he doesn’t come to grips at all with it. He’s in more overt denial. In fact, he’s furious. Their lives weren’t lies?! How can she even THINK that? NONE of that was real! Also, wtf why the fuck did she jump into the ocean?! She could’ve died! Shark is emotionally overwhelmed both in potentially losing his sister again, and also the whole barian thing.

Rio isn’t on board either, but she’s always been the more “open” of the two. She’s not down for Shark’s behavior in the slightest, nor his seeming lack of empathy. Y’know? That more abrasive denial thing from Shark that feels a bit more in-line than just moping about a dead sister. Also, she literally relived dying so like. Fuck man that whole lack of empathy thing isn’t cool to her.

P.S Rio isn’t saying they’re Barians, but, maybe it’s her powers of “foresight” getting to her… something about what she saw feels too real to ignore, while the A plot goes on, she’s processing that very real possibility. This starts to cause something of a rift between otherwise close siblings.

Durbe proceeds to use this to his advantage.

[Next episodes: astral dies. Those episodes play out exactly the same except now Rio is part of the peanut gallery. The fearsome four stuff begins]

SHARK AND THOMAS VS. JELLYFISH MAN

Ok we know what happens in the original. Sort of. I’ll be honest? Haven’t seen these eps in a while. But, Shark goes to his old mansion to relive childhood memories, meanwhile coma Rio is poisoned by jelly man, and Shark also gets poisoned too. IV shows up dadada he’s sorry about the Rio thing but he never speaks to her. Things are gettin’ crazy. Something to that effect, I probably went out of order.

I think what I’d do is have Shark and Rio get into a fight about the barian stuff. Or something that really exemplifies the rift between that’s grown between them since Abyss. Either way, it leads to Shark leaving to the one place he feels he can really think — their old childhood home.

(Also Blah blah plot about strings of poisonings fucking people up is going on in the background that Yuma, Trey and Tori are focused on. Why not the numbers club?? Idk you tell me. Real zexal won’t allow that.)

Rio, in the meantime, after reflecting on what was said and done- goes to find Shark. And she knows exactly where he’d go. (Yuma, III, and Tori are present when she does this so they pursue her shortly thereafter. This is to replace the moments in the hospital)

P.S Durbe is watching all of this happen.

Shark reminisces at the mansion, and is promptly attacked by a monster and poisoned. IV shows up how he does originally and yadada duel starts.

Halfway through Rio and co. Find shark and IV dueling jellyfish man. Rio recognizes her bro is hurt, but Shark is not down for Rio or anybody else tagging in for any reason. There’s an interruptive conflict that’s super awkward for everyone involved (so maybe levity from jellyfish or IV can be put here) Yuma and co. show up at the tail end of this brief exchange.

And Rio, still riled up despite attempting to reach out, retreats into the mansion. The duel outside continues, but inside is where she encounters Durbe.

Ideally a moment would be had between Rio and Durbe similarly to a scene in a later episode with Shark and Durbe, but for the most part this will be small and not seen in full. But Durbe holds out Merag’s crest to Rio and he likely says some cryptic anime nonsense about “destiny” or something.

Because she’s been sensing “it” since the Abyss duel, and he firmly believes that she’s known the truth for a lot longer than she wants to admit.

We don’t see Rio again until the duel ends and she’s found inside the mansion. She seems, at “peace” for some reason? Something about her feels… different. Durbe is nowhere to be seen.

Insert moment here where IV and Rio actually, y’know. TALK. But things are kinda too late-ish now… cuz Rio has somebody else to deal with next.

[astral world arc begins]

Aight, while Yuma is off in Astral world dueling Eliphas and saving Astral, Durbe finally puts his final phase into motion to FINALLY convince Shark to accept who he actually is. Something he’s been fighting for a while now. And surprisingly, Rio is helping Durbe, much to Shark’s shock.

Shark at this point had been in his anguish full of regret for being pretty bitchy lately. All the fights, this barian stuff, the confusion, the fact it’s like he doesn’t even KNOW his sister anymore (and this Shark very likely doesn’t), it’s overwhelming as fuck and he’s tired.

Episode plays out normally with Durbe making Shark relive his life during his last encounter with Vector, the Iris thing, the men dying blah blah. That episode is kind of awesome to begin with, so borderline nothing changes here.

The the difference mostly being that the setup is a bit more concrete. Instead of Rio kinda just, being dead and a spirit “guide” to help Shark’s wangst and immediately following his face-heel turn with no insight on how she felt, we’ve been experiencing how she feels for a while and been seeing how it affects her and Shark’s relationship for a while.

It’s eventually mentioned that Durbe showed Rio these memories back at the mansion. Because showing somebody their twins terrible life after you died definitely isn’t horrifying!! Anyway, Rio came to accept the truth… because, like Durbe said before, she’s “always” known.

HOW? Because it turns out Rio’s powers of foresight she’s been experiencing throughout the series were her memories of being Merag trying really really hard to get out this whole time. That’s why she acts differently in those sudden moments. That’s how Rio knows these she couldn’t possibly know.

Rio being present as a “spirit” is there to help guide Shark through this experience, because he’s always been doing things alone for her. Time she returned the favor.

Everything plays out pretty much exactly the same, after all that anguish and reliving trauma where his army dies and Iris dies- Shark FINALLY accepts the truth about himself being Nasch. He and Rio switch sides together (because they weren’t going to do it alone).

Nasch and Merag take their spots in Barian World, and stuff proceeds to play out as normal. Sort of.

None of this is really all that great, but it’s a start? Again, I’m not a writer and a lot of this would realistically be overshadowed by the scheduled duels that play out, the A plot with Yuma, and generally be a lot more condensed due to the limited amount of episodes left. All this to say that there’s more ways than “dead sister” to make something happen. I dunno these are all minor shifts and my vocabulary is hyperbolic.

I haven’t watched Madre Solo Hay Dos (don’t have Netflix). But, as a young kid watching novelas, and harboring a latent crush on Ludwika Paleta-To now watching her character kiss a lady (on my dash ) is sure something.

Is her character a villain? In the 90’s -00’s, Ludwika Paleta always played a villain, she was a great actress.

Long ask, but I just had to comment.

She is not a villain in Madre Sólo hay Dos, she’s one of the two protagonists. That said, of the two protagonists, she is the “ice queen” archetype and she is definitely not a nice person in the first episode, but I wouldn’t call her a villain. The show pretty quickly introduces complexity and humanity to her character so that beyond the first episode she is a much more well rounded woman than just that sort of bitchy uptight egomaniac archetype. honestly I don’t really think this show has a villain really. it’s a show about an unconventional family dynamic that becomes very messy, but everyone involved is for the most part well-intentioned. What ends up being the central conflict of the show isn’t actually what you think it will be going in, but I don’t think any of the characters involved are ever villainized. idk if that makes sense, and I can’t really expand on it without introducing spoilers, but yeah. if I had to choose a villain out of the main cast, it would definitely NOT be Ana (Ludwika’s character).

but also just YESSSS she’s so great in this role. and even tho I’d seen SOME spoilers going in, I was still SHOOK to see her kiss a lady. (cuz part of me def thought tumblr exaggerated how much her character would be involved in the queer storylines LOL)

Previously On Supernatural Season 3, we had a really rock solid trio of episodes to kick us off right, so what does SPN do next? It’s gonna lay the groundwork for some spicy character development that may or may not pay off by the end of the season. Let's find out!

To be honest, I felt the next three episodes just sort of plateau? There’s enough nuggets in these three eps - “Sin City”, “Bedtime Stories”, and “Red Sky at Morning” - that it does feel like they’re setting up for something big but it’s taking too much time. If the season had been longer, I don’t know that I’d be complaining, because there’s SO much potential introduced with these character developments, but I know it’s gonna get cut off at the knees in the very near future. 2021 Me has been trained on what to expect from a short season, so half of my brain wants to give the show slack for Unexpected Circumstances, but the other half of my brain is shouting YOUR NOT DRIVING THE BUS FAST ENOUGH, YOU’LL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE END OF THE LINE IN TIME!!!

And that’s maybe unfair because there really are some great nuggets in here. We’ve got “Sin City”, which is Dean’s episode. I mean, they’re ALL Dean’s episode, but this one more so than the other two in this post. Dean gets trapped with a demon who turns out to be...kinda...nice? In kind of a Stockholm Syndromey way I guess? She let’s Dean in on the fate that awaits him when his year long contract is up and it is NOT great. This isn’t the first time we see that there’s more to the demons than SPN has shown us in the past (hello, Ruby), but it is the first time Dean chills out enough to actually have a conversation with one. Dean doesn’t really get it, like he’s still not interested in getting out of his deal, but the fear gets planted, it just needs some time to grow. Oh, also, the Colt Ex Machina is back in action, so that's important.

This dumb bitch thinks he can fool us with that devil-may-care side glance but he caaaan't

But then we get “Bedtime Stories”, the Sam episode, where Sam learns...to let go? That’s the point of this episode right? It’s about letting go of someone before that person becomes too toxic and dangerous? At least, that’s the lesson that Dean wants Sam to take away from this case. But Sam will NOT learn this lesson, so instead he tries to cancel Dean’s deal by killing the crossroads demon who wrote it. Spoiler Alert: it doesn't work.

And then we get “Red Sky At Morning”, which opens and closes with some heavy emotional baggage, but then is stuffed full of fun. Like, this episode ricochets wildly in terms of Feelings, but then that’s probably what we should expect from SPN. I mean, what show have I been watching for 3 seasons now?

Fun Facts guys: I’m a tired Millenial, and swapping DVD discs was too much work so I switched over to watching this season on Netflix and GUESS WHAT???? THESE EPISODES COME WITH A SUICIDE WARNING!?!?!

And like, if that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about this season I don’t know WHAT will. Cuz Dean is absolutely suicidal and I am surprised (??) I guess (???) by how much the show acknowledges that. Or I guess, surprised by how much Netflix acknowledges that. It’s something that I did not...pick up on the first go around on season 3, possibly because I was 19 and I was an idiot and found this sort of emotional vulnerability to be endearing. Listen, I know there’s a lot to be said about the producers of the show making...umm…poor decisions in regards to character developments? But if the target demographic of this show was anything like me - and I suspect they were - then the viewers were also...probably...responding inappropriately to some of those character developments. And here’s the thing - I’m looking at this from 12 years in the future, with 12 years worth of real life drama that makes the heavy handed melodrama of television feel...well, heavy handed. Maybe irresponsible? Certainly a little uncomfortable. Big Me is having A Time confronting Little Me’s taste in TV Characters. It’s one thing to have a kink, Little Me, it’s another thing to romanticize suicidal depression.

And hey, I can’t deny that the character development for Dean makes sense. I actually appreciate that the show is thinking through the world and the relationship dynamics that they’ve built and the toll that these misadventures are having on their main characters. These episodes all get bookended by Impala Fights where Sam keeps pushing Dean to give a shit about his own life and Dean responds with an inability to care. That’s just where he is right now, and I get that. We’re early in the season still. But how will the rest of the season handle this? I honestly can’t remember but I also don’t want this to be a throw-away issue that they use to remind us that Dean’s supposed to die at the end of the season. I’m prob gonna come back to this throughout the season because I ~just~want~this~show~to be~repsonsiblllllleeeeeeeeeeee.

Lol, I know, that’s a lot to ask from the CW.

ON TO MORE FUN THINGS!!

Sam is gettin’ reeeeeallll bitchy in these episodes and #1, I love it, Bitchy Sam 5Ever, but also #2, was this supposed to be the sign that Sam was going darkside? Like, he’s snarky, he’s angry, he’s not pulling any punches and that could just be him reacting to his brother’s situation but it could also be….you know...him...becoming slightly...evil? For instance in “Sin City”, he kills the two demons who kidnapped Dean without even thinking. On the one hand, this is the Winchester MO, they kill demons, that’s their job, but on the other hand, Dean is actively telling Sam to stop. Same deal in “Bed Time Stories” - Sam kills the crossroads demon in cold blood (or maybe viscera). Again, we could blame this on instinct - the Winchesters were brought up to do exactly this - but 1) Dean keeps telling Sam not to and 2) that’s not Sam. This show spent 2 seasons telling us that Sam is the Good Brother, the White Hat, the Touchy-Feely One. This is not the Touchy Feely Sam who reasons with ghosts and falls in love with werewolves. Like, everyone else sees it too, right? Also, he is usually very nice to everyone but he is a REAL BITCH to Gertrude in “Red Sky at Morning.” Like, come on, Sam, she just wants to have a nice time. She is OLD. You really think she’s got what it takes to climb that tree?

I know that there was a plan for Sam to start Turning in this season before the show’s episode order got slashed due to the Writer’s Strike. And man, I really would have liked to have seen this play out. Like, first season Sam is the Innocent, right? He’s our stand in for the viewer in those first few episodes and then he’s revealed to be kind of the only thing that went right in the lives of both John and Dean, so Baby Must Be Protected at All Costs. The fact that John ultimately lets Sam go off to college and doesn’t contact him for the next four years says to me that on some level, John felt the need to preserve that innocence, that kind of untouched quality Sam has. Dean is very similar - whenever Sam gets too into the job, Dean calls him out on it. So in the second season when we find out that Sam might be evil, it’s a real punch in the gut, for Dean most of all. But then the show admittedly got bored with that storyline and it didn’t really go anywhere. So whereas Dean has personality in SPADES that fluctuates and changes and develops/maybe just gets more intense as the show goes on, Sam remains that kind of blank slate that the viewer can put their face on. Except now we’re in season three, and if you’ve bought into this show, then you’ve bought into it, so the audience doesn’t need a Blank Slate Sam anymore. And if you start with Sam the Innocent and then introduce the idea of Dark!Sam and then just leave that concept hanging, then isn’t this sort of like Checkov’s Evil Sam? If you introduce Evil Sam in the first act you really ought to deliver on Evil Sam by act three, right? Wouldn’t that have been A+ and Wild? Wouldn’t that have made Sam’s arc and emotional struggles over the previous seasons have more weight?

Will this be resolved in later seasons? Maybe. I’m gonna be honest, this is the last season I watched all the way through and seasons 4 through...like, 8 were real touch and go for me. I know that Sam ultimately is revealed to be a vessel for??? The devil??? And Dean is ultimately revealed to be a vessel for??? Michael??? And then the two of them???? Fight to the death???? Point is, season 5 got weird guys and I’m not there yet.

Back to more fun things! You know what guys?? I think I ship Dean and Bela. I’m...almost ashamed to admit it? Like, I remember Little Me watching this season and just dumping on Bela, I HATED her, but this time? I am 1,000% On Board This Ship. Like, there is an alternate universe somewhere where these two got a spinoff show that ran for 6 seasons and I watched EVERY episode. And then, like, 5 years after it ended, they rebooted it with Dean and Bela’s grown up daughter as the lead and the whole OG cast makes cameos over the three seasons it stays on the air and it’s amazing. I’d own both shows on DVD.

What I like about Bela this time around (and again, I am WILDLY surprised about this development), is that she can dish it just as hard as the Winchesters can. Like, every line Dean throws at her she holds up a mirror to say, “Oh yes, I know the Kettle is black, but what color are you, Pot?” and I’m just continually thrilled. She is also just as damaged as Dean is but somehow channeling it into a healthier way? Like, she’s true Chaotic Neutral, which is not necessarily healthy, it’s just healthier than Dean. Or maybe it’s just that she’s better at managing it. In either case, they are HOT MESSES and I love it. I just love it. I know I complained about shoehorned romances but Ackles and Lauren Cohan just totally crush it in every scene and when Dean walks down the stairs all She’s All That in “Red Sky at Morning”, I yelled at the screen OMG just BONE already!!!!! And then like, 5 seconds later, Bela literally says “We should really have angry sex,” and it was probably the most vindicating moment I’ve had on this ride so far.

WHY did we cancel her? WHY?? I don’t want to believe it was the Wincest again, so I’m gonna pretend that it wasn’t, but it was definitely fans. According to Kripke, Bela gets the axe at the end of this season because of the fan hatred of her. Now, I’ve already admitted that I personally held a grudge, but good Lord, what was wrong with us, as a Fandom? To be fair to me (and all of us), would we have felt differently if we had not been introduced to Jo a mere season earlier?? I'm gonna say yes. Although I had misgivings about Jo the first episode we meet her, by the end of season 2 I was certainly on her side. Working through season 3, I am remembering that, when we were introduced to Bela, I was immediately FURIOUS because WTF, WHERE’S JO? SPN just introduced to her. They just settled on a love interest for Dean and the writer’s just got me on board with that. Now they’ve completely done away with both that character AND that dynamic and you want me to get on board this NEW thing? And be excited about it??? So I'm gonna blame the love-interest-whiplash, combined with the fact that Little Me related my own personal self more to Jo than to Bela, that made me hate Bela in the first place. When you look at how quickly the show abandoned one character to introduce another character, it makes sense why fans got mad, but I’m also mad that we continued to hate Bela when she turned out to be such an A+ Frenemy. It makes me want to shout at the writers through the time void COMMIT TO A FEMALE CHARACTER YOU JAGWEEDS.

What’s wild watching this show now is just how Male it was, especially considering its audience was already skewed heavily female by this point in the series. If you made this show today, I don’t know that you could do that. Today, there’s a real push for balanced, diverse casts in programming, especially in sci-fi/fantasy and young adult. I think if SPN had started in 2021, they would have introduced the Harvell’s or Bela up in season 1, and that introduction would have been much more intentional. The benefit of having a shorter episode count as the standard is that there’s less of the “throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks” approach. Looking at it from 2021, reading snippets of interviews from Kripke, that’s definitely what they’re doing with the side characters in these seasons and you can feel that in Jo and Bela. A shorter season means that the storytelling has to be tighter, it can’t wander, so every decision has to be a load-bearing decision. On the other hand, one of the down sides of having a shorter episode count is the exact same thing - less room to throw stuff, less room to experiment. Heck, Bobby was technically a character they threw at the wall and he didn’t just stick, he became a tentpole character of the series. The only side character that actually made it into the series finale even!

So how much room should we be giving our television programs? I think it depends on the show, honestly. I think you have to decide up front if you want space to experiment, or if you have one, tight, compact story line that’s gonna drive viewers from episode 1 right through the finale without giving them the chance to catch their breath. You have to make the decision, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop making one style of show in favor of the other. Just because we’re in the Age of Streaming doesn’t mean there isn’t room enough for both.

born into the normal nuclear family on a normal street with a normal picket white fence home, cassandra and their older sibling gillian were far from that same normal. cass was always a quiet baby, rarely crying, so much so it was almost a concern for their parents. they were small too, a runt, something they never quite outgrew as they got older and if anything they made themselves even more of one.

the adare siblings prided themselves on being different, on being weird (cue jughead’s speech). in their small town it felt like everyone was the same, everyone was painfully normal, they were all surface level and boring. so they took it upon themselves to be different, or gillian did and cassandra followed in suit.

the two went for what would shock people the most: horror and death. cassandra’s earliest memories include sneaking into the theater for r rated horror movies with her sibling, loving the rush of the adrenaline that came with the fear but also feeling like her chest would burst from it. during especially scary moments during these movies cass’s asthma would act up, and while she tried to put on a brave face and claim they weren’t scared there was no hiding the wheeze that could be heard, garnering her the nickname “wheezie” from their sibling.

still, they loved it, spending hours with their sibling researching true crime and reading about the most gruesome deaths in history, talking about the ways they’d like to go out. one of their favorite hobbies to do was point someone out in a crowd and guess how they’d die, especially when it came to the kids at school they hated the most.

they weren’t very well liked, not that they wanted to be, but it affected cassandra more than they’d ever let on. they always put on a resting bitch face, trying to come off intimidating so no one approached them, but deep down they were a ball of insecurity and anxiety. always hunched over with her hair covering her face, their clothes always too big and baggy and almost always black. they were doing everything they could to just not be seen.

they wanted so badly to be like their sibling, following in their footsteps and preferring to live in their shadow, but while gillian meant everything they did and said cass never had that same oomph, never had that same confidence. when someone would bully her she’d try to respond with a middle finger or a bitchy comment but it never had the bite they intended, always instead sounding like the coward they were. sometimes they just didn’t say anything at all, stayed silent and tried to walk away, feeling like they never had much of another option.

their parents grew used to their behavior, no longer shocked by the horror movie marathons they’d have and them playing dead with each other. still, they hoped they’d grow out of it, that cassandra would come out of her shell a bit more. that never happened, and when their mother asked their grandparents for advice they told them about a summer camp near them that could help.

so every summer the adare siblings were put on a plane to california to spend their summers at camp. cass hated it more than anything, uncomfortable in the hot california sun but refusing to change out of her usual baggy black clothes, either staying by their siblings side or hiding in the mess hall while everyone did activities. at first the counselors tried to get her more involved, tried to force it even, but eventually they gave up and everyone knew throughout the years it was better to leave cass on their own to mope around.

nothing ever changed but their parents kept sending them there anyway, and now at twenty years old and an adult cass was still going despite her disdain for it. gillian was working there so cass had to too, well not had to but anything gillian did cass did too. being a cook now it was the same as it was for them at camp before anyway, just hiding in the mess hall away from everyone else.

personality & headcanons:

cass is all talk, always putting on a mean face and whispering snippy comments to their sibling of “i’d fight her if she says that again, i could kill her” etc, trying to come off as “take no shit” badass when really she’s all talk, cuz when it comes down to getting revenge on their bullies or actually standing up for themselves they chicken out.

they’re genderfluid and go by she/her or they/them pronouns.

they smoke cigarettes (almost way too much) but have never drank or smoked weed. whenever anyone calls them a prude for that they get angry cuz that isn’t even the real reason, rather they’re so paranoid and scared of what someone might do to them while they’re under the influence because they really don’t trust anyone.

a part of not trusting anyone, cass doesn’t let anyone in really. she’s never even been kissed before, too scared to really let anyone in enough for that and not carefree enough to just kiss someone just to kiss them.

their nickname is wheezie though they’d never introduce themselves as that, either introducing themselves as cassandra or cass (some people call her cassie too) though i’m sure most campers/employees have heard gillian call them wheezie so its probably caught on a bit (up to you if you want your character to call them that) and though they’ll rarely say it they hate that nickname.

Petty Teen Drama (on Mallory’s part)

Plot: Mallory confesses his feelings for Ava and she rejects him, but he doesn’t take it very well.

I wrote this on google docs, but i thought i’d post it here as well :) (also don’t mind the title, I couldn’t think of a better one lol)

Fic under the cut cuz it’s a long one :P

Ava made her way to the back of the Hermes cabin per Mallory’s request, but she couldn’t understand why they had to meet so secretly? Drew teased her that maybe he was going to tell her he had feelings for her, but Ava wasn’t so sure. Although Mallory had always been nothing but nice and friendly to her, it never crossed her mind that he could possibly have romantic feelings for her. Either way, Ava agreed to meet Mallory at that location, and when she arrived, she saw him standing there very awkwardly, shifting his weight from one leg to the other, while constantly running a hand through his messy, curly brown hair.

“Hi.” she greeted him, and saw him perk up and hurriedly groom himself.

Why was he trying to make himself look presentable when they were just going to have a chat? Could he really…?

Nah. Ava thought to herself. No way, we’re just friends! Mallory’s like a brother to me, there’s no way he’d ever see me any different than a sister...right?

He walked closer to her, constantly wiping his hands on his pants, and laughing nervously.

“Hey.” he said. “How’s the weather?”

Mallory smacked himself on the forehead, and Ava grew even more worried. He was more nervous than usual, that couldn’t be a good sign. Ava could hear Drew’s taunting voice in her head.

“I mean, how are you?” Mallory corrected himself.

“Um, I’m...good.” Ava decided. “How about you?”

“Great, how about you?”

Mallory smacked his forehead again, and turned around to curse at himself. This time Ava was just as nervous as he was, and she began to look around her, trying to find a way to get to the bottom of this awkward conversation they were having.

“Is there something you want to tell me?” she asked.

Mallory quickly turned to face her, and his face suddenly grew serious. He fixed his posture--which was the first time she saw him not slouching--and cleared his throat.

“Yeah, there is.” he admitted, and looked down at his fumbling hands for a while. “There’s something I wanted to tell you for a long time now…”

“...What is it?” she asked, carefully.

Mallory met her eyes, and the look on his face told her everything. Drew was right.

“Ava, I love you.”

She stared at Mallory for a while, trying to process what she had just listened. Mallory did in fact had feelings for her all this time, and she never noticed. All that time when Drew teased her, calling her a geek-magnet, and all of those other times in which her friends and half-siblings dropped hints at her made complete sense to her now.

She felt terrible that she never noticed, but at the same time she felt helpless because, as much as she didn’t want to hurt his feelings, Ava knew she could never correspond to them. She had feelings for someone else, to a tall, handsome boy down at the Apollo cabin, who always had a song in his heart, and a warm smile on his face. His name was Jasper Salvador, and her heart was his, even if he didn’t know it yet.

Mallory still looked at her, and she could tell that he was still very nervous as he waited for her response. Ava let out a heavy sigh.

“I’m flattered, Mallory, I really am,” she began. “But, I don’t feel the same way. I’m so sorry.”

Her heart broke as she saw his face melt into a frown. She really, really didn’t want to break his heart like this, but she had no choice. She couldn’t pretend to like him back, that would’ve been much worse than a rejection.

“I know you must be hurting, but I hope that we can still be friends!”

Mallory looked down, trying very hard to hide his tears, but Ava could still see them, and it pained her very much. But he suddenly lifted his face to meet hers, and he still looked hurt, but this time there was a hateful look in his eyes, which took Ava by surprise.

“Are you okay?--”

“Of course you’d reject me,” he muttered. “And here I am thinking you were different.” “What?”

“You’re embarrassed by me, is that it?!” he cried. “Is it because I’m not hot, like--like Ivan, or Kai, or--or March, or Jasper?!”

At the mention of his name, Ava’s eyes grew wide, and Mallory’s expression turned into a look of disdainful comprehension. At that moment, Ava knew he had figured it out that she had feelings for Jasper, and it hurt her even more.

“I knew it.” he said. “Of course you’d go for that guy, just look at him!”

“Mallory, you’re being so unfair!” Ava retaliated. “That’s not it at all!”

“It doesn’t matter, you just showed me that you’re just like the other bitchy girls here at camp!”

Ava paused for a moment, appalled by Mallory’s rude statement. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her heart was shattered into pieces by a guy she thought he was her friend. She couldn’t understand why he was being so cruel to her, all because she didn’t reciprocate his feelings?

Tears swelled in her eyes, she wasn’t going to stand being this humiliated any longer.

“I don’t know why you’re being like this,” she said, her voice cracking. “But if you think you’re going to find love acting like this, then you’re so wrong.”

Ava turned at her heels and marched away from him, wiping a few fallen tears away from her face. While she maneuvered through peeping campers--who were all curious to know what had made her cry--Ava only had one person in mind that she wanted to see right now, and as she finally got to her destination, she saw him.

Jasper was sitting at the dining pavilion, along with a few other campers who were still lingering after lunch had ended. He was strumming his guitar when he noticed Ava approach her, he smiled up at her and her heart skipped a beat. Even when she was feeling down in the dumps, Jasper’s smile managed to lift her spirits up, even for a little while.

But he frowned as she got closer to him, since he noticed her tears as well as her pained expression. He set his guitar to the side, and met her halfway across the pavilion, wrapping his arms around her into a hug as she collapsed onto him, sobbing loudly despite the sound being muffled by his shirt.

“Ava, what’s wrong?” he asked her.

They both sat down at the table he was sitting at, and as soon as she calmed down, she told him everything that had happened, from Mallory’s confession to his horrible reaction towards her rejection. By the end of her story, Jasper looked just as confused as she was when she experienced it earlier today.

“He called you that?!” he asked.

“Yeah…”

They were both silent for a moment, until Ava spoke up again.

“I knew I’d hurt his feelings,” she confessed. “But I wasn’t expecting anything like this! He basically painted me as this shallow person...”

“That guy’s insane---is he still at the Hermes cabin?”

“I don’t know, maybe.”

Jasper remained silent while Ava continued to wipe her tears, she looked up and saw just how furious Jasper looked, which was something she’s never seen before. He glared at the direction of the cabins, and his knuckles had turned white from balling up his fists too tight.

“Jasper, are you okay?” she asked.

He looked down at her. “Wait here.”

And with that he got up and left, heading straight for the cabins. Ava got up as well and followed him.

“Jasper, what are you gonna do?” she asked him.

“I’m just gonna go talk to him.”

“Don’t do anything stupid!”

“I won’t.”

Ava stopped at her tracks, watching him walk away. She felt anxious about Jasper’s sudden decision to talk to Mallory, especially since he looked so angry. She hoped that nothing bad would come out of it, but something in the back of her mind was telling her otherwise.

Anon i’m so sorry that you expected me to talk about a certain thing cuz the truth is im have dumb bitchi disease and cant remember but I will ramble about something else.

Michael Afton ammirite.

First kid of Wilson and Dolly. He didn’t grow up spoiled or neglected but let me just say raising your first kid as really young adults can be difficult. His relationship with his dad was always a little rocky but Wilson did his best to come off as a caring father. Dolly and Michael were a lot closer and while he wasn’t a mommys boy he did pick up a lot of traits and hobbies from her.

Around other kids he was really quiet but when your dad runs fazbears you kinda get put on a pedestal and deemed the Cool Kid(Tm). He didn’t like...care honestly he just didn’t really wanna talk with other kids and wanted to indulge in his own hobbies which would also kinda give him his little side title of the Weird Kid(tm).

He was super young when he first lost his little sister, and a few years later the murders happened and seeing your dad as a potential murderer really did mess him up. Wilson was just involved in so many things that stressed Michael and Dolly out a lot that Dolly had to prioritize the mental wellbeing of her kid and divorce Wilson, taking Michael with her back to Mexico.

He spent the next couple of years with his mom en un Rancho. Dolly was still incredibly depressed over the whole situation and picked up very bad addictions that sadly caused her to pass away. Michael at the time was already an adult and not being able to handle the solitude decided to move back with his father.

It was awkward to say the least. Not seeing or hearing from your dad practically all your teen life and suddenly dropping by? Yeah. Little weird. But he was just relieved that he wasn’t alone anymore, and that the town hadn’t changed much.

In the end with Michael back at his old house, he’s still very much awkward and introverted. Still doesn’t feel that great around his dad- he actually doesn’t even call Wilson his dad. Just calls him by his name. He’s seen as the town cryptid tbh/s. Kinda hurts Wilson that he sees Michael opening up quicker to other people than him but Michael really just...does not care. He asks about Henry and how he is first rather than asking his dad how hes been and honestly thats kind of a win shdbfsj

Queen & Slim: Just another night on Tinder

I was excited when I saw the trailer for this movie. Finally, we're gonna get some more black superheroes! Some people might say "You've got Black Panther!".

So, black people only get one? There are enough white superheroes to cover a football field, but we're supposed to be happy with just one? I know there's some lesser black superheroes, but I don't wanna hear about no Luke Cage (who has impenetrable skin).

He ain't nothing, but cheap target practice.

Falcon?

SO FAR (I know Disney+ stuff is coming), he has only been good at carrying Capt's shield. If Capt forgets his shield at the beach or something, we all know who he is going to call.

No, we just have BP! - but he's busy fighting big time enemies like Thanos... and merchandising:)

We need some heroes (super or not) on our level to keep it real!

Queen and Slim are out there for the people!

Shooting up cops who shoot up black people - at least that's what some might take away from the trailer. There are two camps here:

Those who are rah-rah, as I am, that we're getting new heroes to root for, and those who would say "What about the cop? What about the cop's family and friends? Besides, those two probably aren't totally innocent anyway."

Both sides, in this case, are wrong.

These two aren't really heroes; they didn't ask for any of this. They're not like Batman, who DECIDES to put on the costume, saying to himself "Time to save the day!" (Let's be honest, it's prob more like "Time to beat the hell out of some people, until I feel vindicated". But, whatever.) Queen and Slim were simply on a Tinder date.

Queen (played by Jodie Turner-Smith) is an attorney. She is obviously smart, she is confident, picky, a lil bitchy, a lil lonely, and way out of Slim's league. Well... I don't like to say that... they're just in different leagues.

Slim (played by Daniel Kaluuya) is a polite, some what naive, romantic, cornball. He's all about helping people.

It's not like these two are out looking for trouble or hanging out with a gang or something; just two regular people on a date that's going horribly wrong.

The climax of this horrible date is Mr. Sturgill Simpson. If that name sounds like a country singer's name to you, that's because he is. He plays the cop.

(Wow, he is feeling it! He’s rockin that song! Or maybe he’s just tuning very passionately idk)

Now, to those who would want to run to their programmed stance of defending the cop - #1 (Bleep) that dude. He was the worst! He was definitely abusing his power. #2 It was self defense on the part of Q&S #3 which movie would you rather see - this one? or the movie where Sturgill's family and friends (all white and southern) make this racist/abuser a martyr, and set out (as protagonists) to hunt down and kill two black people? No one can feel good about watching a film like that! Well... You know what?? - I'll just move on.

This movie is actually a romantic drama/road trip flick. As seen in the trailer, they shoot the cop and are now on the run. BUT, they find time to stop for snacks, ask for directions, see some friends & family, crack some jokes, check out the sights, all while trying to avoid the law:)

The acting is very good, and the chemistry (and how they end up falling in love thru all of this) between Queen and Slim is well done. The movie shows what an inspiration a story like this can be for the black community. I don't mean in real life (although that too, to a degree), but in the movie, black people are helping Queen and Slim out around every turn - this is kinda like their super power. Now, they DO show the dangers of how protesters, in their anger (though valid) could possibly lead to big problems, if not checked. The movie pulls back A LIL BIT in this way (from F**K THE POLICE), especially for those of you looking for some balance. That being said, it ain't like this a #bluelivesmatter message movie. We all know why we're here - to cheer on Marvel's newest additions.

I will say that there are some contrived parts during their escapes, and the fact that most of the black people in this movie are bending over backwards to help Queen and Slim out is a little unrealistic. We look after our own in these types of situations, but... EVERY BLACK PERSON THEY MEET? Entire rooms of black people? All of them?! Even those on the police force?! I'm just sayin. Although, our shared trepidation and frustration concerning cops and the justice system MIGHT cause this overwhelming united reaction. Like I said, it's their super power. It wasn't just black people helping them - my man Flea was out there for the cause as well.

I really wanted him to take off his shirt and bust out a random bass solo; even though it wouldn't have made any sense in the story, I wouldn't have cared.

Written by Lena Waithe and Directed by Melina Matsoukas.

I thought the pacing was kinda off at times, and the movie is too long, but all in all, pretty good. There were times when the audio of the people in the scene are being heard, but the people aren't moving their lips. This is a love it or hate it move by the director. I thought it was a huge editing error at first:)

The ending will send a different message to different people. A part from that, the other message I took was that this could happen to any of us. From a bad tinder date to "Queen and Slim". Tempers flare and shit happens. Another message is to make sure that you keep stopping for food if you're on the run from the police. I guess you'll need your strength. There's a whole lot of eating going on in this film. Make sure you bring snacks to the theatre, cuz it'll make you hungry.

I wonder if Tinder could capitalize on its part of the movie. Maybe add a "Queen and Slim Challenge" button to their app. Actors could be sent out to ruin your date and hunt you down, and hopefully the two of you will fall in love... or go to prison.

I give this movie a solid B

If you're a black couple and end up with Queen and Slim's exact sitch, I don't know that you should come my way. I might help you, but I don't know. This is real life. I don't know you! You could be involved in some 6ix9ine nonsense.

Yeah, def don't show up at my step looking like that, expecting help.

Now, Black Panther, I'd help! No matter what he allegedly did. We've gotta protect our one superhero at all cost.
