Something to say about dedicating yourself to a purpose, to a symbol, spending blood, sweat and tears.

Just think about young J, looking for SOMETHING to do during his training. Something to fill that void, that ache he can't reach. Think about him making his own core from scratch and tears and broken hopes.

I’ve gone on and on about how Leo wants to be who Splinter finds is the ideal person (which just so happens to be Splinter’s ideal version of himself) but I have yet to really touch upon how Donnie is the one who most directly parallels Splinter himself to an honestly shocking degree, Raph’s taking from Splinter’s teachings and parenting has resulted in an unhealthy mixup in the different dynamics of a family versus a team, and Mikey is the one who is simultaneously the most focused on family and the most intrinsically himself which both leads to his better grasp of mystics and honestly what just might be the healthiest dynamic with Splinter.

Here's one of my more nature themed projects I did recently! Just a tiny pine display box (i think from dollar tree? actually found it at a thrift store but it has a dollar tree tag lol). I don't have any before pictures of it (blasphemy). I got a hold of wood stain last year and have been having at it with a lot of cheap wood stuff laying around

Used to hold my moth collection but it has since outgrown it! So I stained it with wood stain + hot glued moss all over and decided to use it to display my more fragile specimen's that didn't have a place yet!

(Inside: dragonfly, dried shelf fungi, twin pine seed, bird skull, white lined sphinx moth (if I'm not mistaken), butterfly I forgot to identify, cicada.

On top: porcupine quills and a chicken bone.

Porcupine quills were a gift, everything else I found and saved. Actually my brother found the moth and saved it for me.)

It does have a protective casing on the front, but I took it off for the picture because of the glare.

i f. i fucking forgot a pencil so i cant scribble out this Thought i had while on a lil road trip today - basically i was thinkin about Wally, as ya do, and i asked myself why does Wally eat with his eyes? its such a Fascinating yet somewhat Out Of Place choice for him. how did Clown come up with that? its so unique. it stands tf out.

and then i remembered Frank & Poppy's convo for their 'bug' audio, and how he says "you eat with your eyes first" and like... thats a real phrase. ive heard it in my life. & it set off lil alarm bells in my head the first time i listened to the clip, i just hadnt connected the dots yet. so its feasible that thats why Wally eats the way that he does - and an in-universe explanation could be that Wally heard the phrase before he could learn how to eat 'properly', and took it literally

how do you think genesis handles meltdowns?

Simply put? He doesn’t. Not really anyway. He usually needs a lot of help to regulate himself from Angeal (don’t ask sephiroth to help him regulate it’s like asking a mole to lead a bat to the sun, neither of them know what their looking for.).

Genesis’ meltdowns are either uncontrollable rage that usually end up in him or someone else getting hurt, or crying so intensely he throws up. As a kid he used to throw himself backwards and scream himself horse. His nannies often had to restrain him in a towel and when that stopped working sometimes they just locked him in his room and hoped he stopped.

As an adult Genesis throws things at walls and hits. He’s prone to lashing out and trashing things. He’s also prone to digging his nails into his skin and making himself bleed. Angeal usually has to stand in the room and monitor what he’s throwing/ stop him from hurting himself. If he can manage to he’ll herd Genesis to the training room to minimise damage.

When he cries all Angeal can really do is rub his back and try to sooth him via touch. Genesis is a sensory question mark because he can’t stand the feeling of air on his skin (hence the coat and gloves) but he needs physical affection to function. Angeal spends a lot of time bear hugging him into coming down before he throws up.

The problem with Genesis is that his meltdowns have been historically extremely traumatic events for him. Regardless of what triggers them, Genesis does not have any self regulation techniques (on the moment) to bring himself down.

He has regulation processes to stave off meltdowns (these he either subconsciously built or learned with Angeal) but once he’s in it it takes hours for him to come down from the adrenaline.

After meltdowns however Genesis now has a full routine (thanks ‘Geal) dedicated to de stressing. Baths, not wearing PJ bottoms to bed (they make his legs feel choked) low lighting and not being alone are all key to his recovery. AngeL will cook for him, and sometimes he’ll call whoever he needs to to get Genesis out of something, but generally he just stays with him as Genesis finds his own way back.

If you ask Angeal Genesis’ desertion and the Banora bombing were all Genesis’ reaction to having a prolonged sensory meltdown caused by his illness.
