Lan Huan opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again, pressing his lips together tightly. "Mmhhh..." He cleared his throat, grimacing, eyes wandering around the kitchen. "Don't take what I'm about to ask the wrong way, OK?" "Answer my question first. What do you know?" "Are you still a virgin?" There was a good chance that in approximately three seconds time, the entire apartment complex would be reduced to ashes, because Lan Zhan was about to explode. "Excuse me?" he ground out, surprised by his own restraint. Besides the fact that this was absolutely none of his brother's business – they were close in many ways, but this was the sort of thing they simply did not talk about – but what could that possibly have to do with anything right now? "I'm not asking to annoy you or intrude," Lan Huan said calmly. "I promise it's important." Lan Zhan pressed his teeth together until his jaw hurt. Then he nodded, not looking his brother in the eye. He wasn't ashamed of his virgin status, even at the ripe old age of 30, he just didn't broadcast this fact to the world. For one, because this was extremely private information, and also because he knew how other people would react. Some would pity him (not that he needed it), or make fun of him (not that he cared), and others, like his brother, would be worried about him (not that he felt like there was anything to worry about). There would be gossip and whispers behind his back, but he didn't care about that sort of thing; he never had. The part that worried him, was that some people would try to 'fix him' and set him up on dates. He remembered how it had been during school and basic training, when his peers started having relationships, some innocent and some very much not. Some boys couldn't start bragging quickly enough about their conquests. Lan Zhan was simply not interested in any of that. He had more important things to do with his life. But even he could feel the ever-present peer pressure, the expectation that he too should be like others in this regard. And of course Wei Ying had appointed himself head of the 'We need to get Lan Zhan a girlfriend' committee, which had not helped the situation in the slightest.

Kurosawa accidentally finding out that Adachi has a praise kink and using it to his advantage.

Constantly complimenting him when he finished something at work by petting his head. Sliding his hand down to gently grip his nape as he lets Adachi know “How good” he’s beings for him.

Feeling pure exhilaration as he leaves Adachi a stuttering mess to go help a coworker.

Getting home late to find Adachi cleaning and calling him a “good boy” before giving his the deepest kiss he can before going to shower.

Sitting on the couch with his legs crossed and calling Adachi random names until he reacts in a certain way.

“Baby? Love? …Princess?”

Feeling like he won the lottery as he chases a visibly affected Adachi back into their room to use the new term in bed to make Adachi as embarrassed as he can because let’s be honest.

The man had a thing for humiliation.

It deeply bothers me there are no fics in Cherry Magic with corporate espionage as a subplot. Or a main plot. Like, I get it, that's not the genre... But there's so much that can be done with a character who can read minds. Just think about it. Reading minds to get inside scoops on deals. So far that's happened once in the anime, and I need it to happen more. I need the thrills and the angst and the laughs because Adashi would make the worst corporate spy.

Notes: This piece is a self-prompt, a Drarry AU inspired by the adorable 2020 Japanese live-action drama “Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!”, an adaptation of the manga by the same name by Yuu Toyota. You do not have to be familiar with Cherry Magic to understand the fic, and I do not think the fic will spoil the drama, which I highly encourage you to watch because it’s super cute and hilarious. Thanks to my excellent beta and to the mods of this fest.

Summary: "Thirty, huh?" Pansy asked. “My cousin told me that Japan there’s this urban legend called ‘cherry magic’. It’s basically that if you turn thirty without, you know, popping your cherry, you get magical powers.” “Pans, I don’t know how to put this to you, but we already have magical powers,” Draco said. Pansy laughed. “No, you dolt. New ones. Apparently the legend goes that you become a mind reader.” Draco shivered. “Sounds awful.” “Anyway, it won’t happen to you, will it?” she asked. Draco shifted a little uncomfortably. “Of course it won’t,” he said. “Because you just said it’s an urban legend.” “I meant, it won’t happen to you because you’re not a virgin.” Draco laughed.

Adachi never thought he’d be the kind of person to lounge around in bed during the middle of the day.

Then again, he never thought he’d fall so deeply in love or be so blissfully happy, either. And lounging around in bed is a different thing indeed when you’ve got someone with you, their arms wrapped around you tight and their body pressed against yours.

Besides, they’ve had a busy work week - Kurosawa especially - so Adachi thinks they’ve earned this.

He feels rather than hears Kurosawa sigh, his breath warm against the back of Adachi’s neck. He follows the sigh by softly saying, “I used to dream about this, you know.”

“Oh?” Adachi’s heart flutters. It’s new information but it doesn’t exactly surprise him. “I never saw that fantasy.”

Kurosawa stiffens slightly against him. Then he’s pulling away, just a little bit but enough to make Adachi want to whine at the loss of contact.

“What do you mean by that fantasy?”

Ah. Adachi swallows, then reluctantly turns around. They don’t really talk about his magic much, especially not since he lost it, but it seems like the kind of conversation that should happen face to face. Even if Adachi feels too shy about it to look Kurosawa in the eye.

“I saw a few of your, ah, ideas about us,” he admits. “Usually, I’d only pick up on words but I guess if the mental picture was strong enough, it would… transmit.”

Kurosawa hums. “So what did you see?”

“Mostly it was mushy couple stuff,” Adachi says, and Kurosawa smiles, completely unembarrassed. “Sometimes you were just picturing me… it felt strange,” he admits, “seeing myself the way you did. It overwhelmed me, to think that someone could see me like that.”

“Like what?”

Adachi pauses, trying to think of the best words to describe it. “Like I was special.”

“You are,” Kurosawa says without hesitation.

He takes Adachi’s hand, bringing it up to his lips and pressing a soft kiss in the center of his palm. Adachi fights the urge to squirm, warmth blooming in his chest and rushing through his body like an avalanche. It still catches him off guard, how Kurosawa can make him feel so loved with such a simple gesture.

“You’re the most beautiful person,” Kurosawa continues, apparently not done, “the kindest, most courageous, the most adorable-”

“Alright,” Adachi laughs, squeezing Kurosawa’s hand. “I get it, you don’t have to keep going.”

“I could, though,” Kurosawa says, but he mercifully doesn’t. Adachi’s not sure his heart could handle it. “I could keep going for at least a hundred years.”

“Please don’t.”

Kurosawa laughs quietly. He adjusts his grip on Adachi’s hand, entwining their fingers, but suddenly even that doesn’t feel like enough contact. Adachi scoots closer, knees knocking gently together, bringing his forehead to rest against Kurosawa’s. He feels Kurosawa’s breath hitch, feels his body relax in the next moment.

“You know I think all of these things about you too, right?” Adachi mumbles, cheeks growing warm. “Even if I’m bad at saying them out loud.”

Kurosawa’s smile grows softer, eyes sparkling. “I know,” he assures Adachi.

He knows Kurosawa is telling the truth but he still feels a bit guilty, because Kurosawa deserves to hear these words. Maybe someday, Adachi will feel confident enough to say them without feeling like he’s cracked his chest open.

Right now, this is enough; just holding each other, basking in each other’s light like they’re both at once a delicate flower in the springtime and the sun shining down on it.

Eugh. Adachi makes a face at his own analogy. Maybe mushiness is catching?

“What are you thinking?” Kurosawa asks, sounding amused.

“Nothing,” Adachi lies quickly.

Kurosawa hums in response, clearly not believing him. Adachi leans in, closing that little bit of distance between them and distracting him with a kiss.

And if their afternoon cuddle turns into a lazy makeout session, that’s simply out of Adachi’s control. It’s not his fault his boyfriend is both so easily distracted and so kissable.

Cherry Magic has been my truest fandom insanity. Sometimes I look at my ao3 homepage and see the little 26 indicator for that fandom and think, how would I ever write that much for another one? All my ideas and stories have come from having such a nice fandom home there who appreciated and encouraged so much of my writing and I will love my Cherry Magic fandom friends forever.

So aaactually, I only have 24 finished fics. Two of those are on my wips list. I had started both around the movie announcement and I had paused on them thinking they would be fun to focus on once the movie was released to international fans. 8000 years later, I probably should stop waiting and finish them already.

So here's a little bit about those and what I plan to do with them:

Ready or Not - This is a 5+1 fic that is essentially about Adachi and Kurosawa planning to have a baby with aneki as their surrogate. It comes from some of those quiter, smaller moments that a couple experiences as they prepare to be parents and step off the cliff. Adachi and Kurosawa are so sweet and sincere with each other and there weren't a ton of parent fics out there when I started it, plus I had lots of fun thinking about how soft Adachi is with kids in my Friend in Need fic so this fic just seemed to pop up. It has two out of the six vignettes posted. I have outlines for the rest.

Awakening - Speaking of a Friend in Need (probably one of my favorite CM fics I wrote, although it's hard to choose favorites, but this is my first long fic for that fandom and is special), this idea was inspired a bit by that fic. Awakening is a Pornographer AU where Adachi accidentally collides with his neighbor Kurosawa who breaks his arm and lets slip that he is an author and cannot work after the accident. Adachi feels terrible about it and offers to help Kurosawa physically write his latest novel (lol that in the Pornographer he is literally writing his dictations down because dude is eccentric instead of you know, typing, and I guess no text-to-speech - lets just go with it, shall we? XD) and spoiler! Kurosawa writes erotica. Much like in a Friend in Need, Kurosawa's openness about sex and his feelings around it helps Adachi explore his own feelings/sexuality. Kurosawa's dictation of these stories allows Adachi to put himself into those fantasies and well, the tension here lies where it usually does for Adachi in my fics - feeling settled in himself enough to take the risk to be open about what he wants once he's discovered it.

So yeah, I have no others for CM on the backburner. I do feel like I have dug into these characters quite a bit, but since they do feel like home I could see doing more with them writing for prompts (and would be happy to do that) but I have gotten to write everything that I have wanted for them with the exception of finishing those above.

Cuckoos Three by Cassandra Jean & Mosskat - A really lovely YA graphic novel featuring: boys falling in love, small town bigotry, mental health, a very cool sketchy art style, diverse characters, happy endings, and a goat named Billy. One of my favorite books I've read so far this year.

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi - I read this in one sitting and had so much fun with it. Highly recommended if you love kaiju movies or just people being competent at their jobs.

The Straightest Path by meyari - MDZS canon divergence - Lan Wangji becomes Sect Leader after Lan Xichen is killed in the Wen attack on Cloud Recesses; this changes everything. It's a quick read but a good one.

23.5 - It finally started airing and all I can say is: cute, cute, cute.

Cherry Magic {finished: 4 stars} - Thailand's version of the manga was mostly excellent. Tay and New were both great as usual, but once again a drama left significant character stuff to be revealed and resolved at the last minute instead of weaving it into the rest of the show. Apart from that, I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I waited until it was finished airing so I didn't have to wait week to week. And now I'm very curious to see what South Korea's version would look like.

Gruff by Julian Curi (Righteous Robot) {5 stars} - short film - The paper cut animation is wonderful and it's so well done. The story is emotional and heartfelt, and made me think.

Perfect Marriage Revenge {finished: 5 stars} - I loved this drama so much. I was prepared for standard kdrama romance fare, so the soapy-ness of it all was a pleasant surprise. I love me some high highs and low lows.

Kurosawa’s humiliation kink needs to be studied.

The way it perfectly aligns with Adachi’s praise kink is literally too much to bear. For both of them.

Imagine a little while into their relationship Kurosawa is feeling just a little more...overprotective, of Adachi one day.

He’s worked up from who knows what and as soon as he gets Adachi into that bed he’s merciless because he LOVES to hear Adachi whimper in overstimulation.

Laughing oh-so sadistically when Adachi grabs his wrist and close his legs to keep him out when he places his hand back on his “special parts” after multiple rounds.

“Oh, sweetheart..” in the fondest voice full of mirth when he responds with “Let me help you..” knowing that Adachi would take one look at him and give in again.

Feeling absolutely ELATED when he sees the tears of pleasure that spring to Adachi’s eyes after he came and telling him “You’re doing so well, princess..” while pressing kisses to his cheeks to make him relax enough to shove back in for the fourth time.

Throwing heartfelt praises here and there and asking “Do you like it?” And “Aww, I know. It feels so good doesn’t it?” and feeling himself twitch when Adachi struggles to give him an answer through incoherent babbles from the mind numbing pleasure.

Actually stopping when he fails to receive an answer and gently forcing Adachi to say what he needs him through all his hiccups and aborted gasp so he can be at an all time high when he pounds back into him.

Giving Adachi’s aftercare and still making him humiliate himself. Wiping him until he stirs and prompting him to tell him so. “Kurosawa..” he starts as blush overtake his face when Kurosawa’s eyes snap to his. “Feels too good…” and taking pleasure in seeing Adachi hiding his face in his neck as he relents and properly cleans him to let him sleep.

And there NEEDS to be more fics on it.

I can honestly see this with Takara-kun and Amagi-kun too. And Nozue-San and Togawa.

And so I rest my case.
