i mean. is he pining for amara? is that what we're going with? this obviously has the ambiguity that you could slap it on to whatever ship of choice as well. follow your heart to sam instead of your dick to amara? :p this nebulous connection to her is... nebulous. halfway tempted to just fucking look up how this plays out, but then i'm just waiting for things to happen (which is why i don't do well with big spoilers) so i probably won't. it has to be dire to do that (and i have with this show in the past, just to know how many episodes of whatever plotline were in my future)

i'd say some of that's on the inconsistent writing/characterization of cas, but potayto potahto :p brushing off dean's concern to aid in finding out about lucifer at the worst time, i can imagine

DANIEL 'YETI' CLARK HEADCANON DROP

Sleep Habits: He's not a good sleeper. It takes him forever to pass out, and even then it's only for a few hours. Nightmares are common, and often he ends up walking around for most of the night. Pacing rooms or wherever he's camped out. When he does sleep, he prefers to sleep on his belly with his head under a pillow and his arms folded under his face. Falling asleep sitting up leads to him snoring like a mother fucker.

Hobbies: He's not a big reader, but he likes terrible tv and movies - the worse the acting, the more he likes it. He used to play guitar but gave it up after basic. His family owns a cattle farm, so he grew up horseback riding and when he's on leave he likes to do that and camping. And no, the season/weather does not bother him.

Callsign: He's the Yeti because he's big, and strong, and quiet as fuck - so quiet people often miss him in a room until he's on them. Yanno, like how Big Foot be in all those fake documentaries. He is pretty brutal in hand to hand combat, and tends to scare people off of any kind of training with him. He's also got some nice chest hair, so, yanno... Yeti... - He's got some mean winter survival skills, which also lean into this nickname. If asked about it, he'll claim he got the nickname in basic during some winter survival training because he came out of the woods with ice and snow covering his beard and face and looked like he cryptid come to life.

Medical Notes: - Has reading glasses. - His knuckles are visually a mess from a combination of farm work and punching walls to avoid fighting. They're crooked as hell, scarred to shit, and often scabbed over in various ways. - Has burn scars over the left side of his rib cage from an explosives incident. The damage was second and third degree burns, but the wounds healed well and he doesn't notice any kind of restrictions from it. The damage patch of skin is about 10inches long from top to bottom, and a variety of inches wide - from 3in to 6in. - Suffered a knife injury while on an operation, resulting in a mark on his outer right forearm. The scar is about half an inch wide, and 6inches long, and starts from his wrist and goes downward. - When he was a child, he was thrown from a horse resulting in stitches. The wound healed pretty well, leaving only a faint scar on his scalp, starting from the crown of his head and working its way back, it's about 4 inches long. - Has a history of concussions, breaking fingers, and once broke a foot.

Body Modifications: - His right ear lobe was at one point pierced, and although he wears no piercing, the hole is still visible. - Teenage mistake of allowing a friend to tattoo him has resulted in 'READY TO DIE' tattooed beneath his navel, above the line of his hips, in ugly Olde English font. - Two molar teeth tattooed on the first finger joint of his right middle and ring fingers. A fond memory and souvenir of the first time he knocked someone's teeth out right out of basic.

Miscellaneous: - Owns his own home right outside of base limits - it has a decent back yard that's fenced in. He shares the home with his younger sister Bobye, although since he's barely home, he feels like it's mostly just her home and he's renting a room. - Throws mean bbq parties, the absolute stuff of legends. Will make, or break, a man. - Has a pet tortoise named Tortilla. She's his baby and NOT FOOD, ISSAC. - Speaking of Lt. Issac Wallace, Danny's had this dumbass crush on him since he met him and it's never gone away. But he keeps it so under wraps that they look like they just have a really good bromance. - Big fan of hats. Loves them. Has a cowboy hat that he wears when he's 'off duty'. - Has notoriously bad handwriting. Should have been a doctor. His signature is basically a smilie face. - Pays for everything in cash & doesn't have a bank account.

S1-- Murphy. What a little evil shit.

S2--Dr Tsing. Evil scientist with no redeeming qualities and no spoiled pouting incompetence like with Cage Wallace. She really got the end that was deserved.

S3--Oh there’s some competition for this one. Was it Nia or was it Ontari? Nia, because she created Ontari.

S4--Oh this one’s a sad one. It’s a broken Luna wanting to destroy humanity. 

s5-- Toss up between Octavia and McCreary. No let’s give it to McCreary. I don’t think he really cared for anyone. At least Octavia was desperate to keep her people alive and sacrificed herself for it.

s6--Most evil...you know what? I’m going with actually the entire Lightbourne family. They are a dynasty of evil. Creating and reinforcing a generational horror, and just, like skipping through multiple lifetimes wearing fancy clothes and mindwiping people and stealing their bodies. They were so damned pleased with themselves. 

And I also think the Lightbournes are the biggest evil on the whole show, and that generational thing, COMING from the original apocalypse time and being colonialists and then that evil little magic kingdom they set up? WOW. big baddies. Who are, however, not that tough. Certainly no match for our heroes.

Poor-me-I-hate-me-punish-me-come-to-my-funeral. Then they show you a 20 X 25 glossy of their dead cat. It's all self-pity bullshit. It's bullshit. I didn't have any special grudges. I didn't fail an exam or get dumped by anybody. All these types. Hurt themselves.' Still that intriguing, unsettling combination of blank facial masking and conventionally animated vocal tone. The doctor's small nods were designed to appear not as responses but as invitations to continue, what Dretske called Momentumizers. 'I didn't want to especially hurt myself. Or like punish. I don't hate myself. I just wanted out. I didn't want to play anymore is all.’ 'Play,' nodding in confirmation, making small quick notes. 'I wanted to just stop being conscious. I'm a whole different type. I wanted to stop feeling this way. If I could have just put myself in a really long coma I would have done that. Or given myself shock I would have done that. okay, I was searching through @dylanobrienisbatman’s echo tag for some head canons awhile back and stumbled upon this! I’ve tweaked it a little and added some things from S5 and omg this is so fun! thanks to whoever made this ask game! S6 STARTS TONIGHT!

Farm Station. I grew up in the south and my great/grandparents all owned farms so yeah, probably Farm Station.

2. What would you get arrested for on the Ark?

I think this happened to a character in the book...I would probably get locked up for getting pregnant as a teen! lol

3. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground?

If Bellamy Blake asked me to, you bet I would.

4. What would the necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh..)

Geographically, I would probably reside in Trikru somewhere. But I really want to live in Shallow Valley. I wish we had seen more of that clan!

9. Thoughts on Finn? Some people hate him, and others love him, so I’m curious

He was okay in the beginning. I was pissed when I found out he had a girlfriend in space and was trying to get with Clarke on the ground. I did not like him at all in S2! The guy really lost it in the end.

10. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does?

I would have been able to resist in the beginning. Maybe took a step back to watch others take it first. But peer pressure, man. I would have given in eventually.

11. What character do you relate to most?

Clarke Griffin. She’s been isolated a lot and that’s something I relate to. And her Mama Bear instincts.

12. What character do you like the least?

S1- Finn, S2- Cage Wallace, S3- Pike, S4- Echo, S5- Kara Cooper

13. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical)

Nightblood aside, I think Octavia (with Lincoln still alive to influence her) would be a cool choice too.

I don’t care who is the Chancellor, but Clarke Griffin is in charge. lol. Kane was the best leader for Skaikru on the ground.

I feel like as unlikely as it is, the show really has Octavia set up as Warrior Princess Goddess Hero and she would win. lol. As far as forming alliances and making it to the end...Clarke Griffin could make it with Bellamy Blake by her side throwing back nighlock berries till the end.

I would have liked more flashbacks of Roan and Luna and Lincoln. Spacekru on the Ring. Emori? Harper? literally everyone, right?

Bellamy Blake. All day. Every day.

33. In the Bunker, would you follow Octavia? What would you do to pass the time underground?

Sure. I don’t think I’d have much of a choice. I’d probably help take care of all the little kids!

Okay, so the way my life works I would probably get pregnant...again. And steal some blankets or something that I needed for all my kids. I’m not even going to front and say I survive that fighting pit sooo hope Blodreina trains them little squirts well!

35. Up in Space, who would you bond with first? Who would be the most difficult for you to get along with?

I’m instantly bonding with Harper. She’s the sweetest.

I’m going to be a little leary of Bellamy Blake during his Clarke ‘I left her behind’ Griffin Depression hour. So he’s probably really mopey and moody. And let’s just avoid him for a while.

36. How long do you think you would last on Earth by yourself?

Two weeks? I’d probably starve to death.

37. When the Eligius ship lands what do you do?

HIDE! And then spy on them. Figure out who they are and if they’re friendly. Go to them for help if they are. Take them all out in their sleep if they’re not.

I’m not a big fan of my sister, so yes. Was there any easier way to stop Octavia? I mean, Clarke wanted to kill her. They wanted to protect Madi. As much as that scene pained me I think Bellamy did the right thing soooo I would poison her.

44. Would you go to sleep in cryo or stay awake like Marper?

Stay asleep. Unless I’m living my entire life with Bellamy Blake by my side I dont want it.

JR isn’t going to give it to us so I’m waking up Octavia so her and Jordan can have a First One on the Ground Pilot parallel!

Cage Wallace, 100%. I wish I could have been the one to stab him with the Red.

You’re asking me. To choose. A favorite episode. Of The Office?????????? I’m gonna cop out and say the series finale.

Season 2. Lindsay is still around and the BURZEK CONTENT. Ugh, I love them.

5. who is your favorite couple in 3?

There are other couples besides Jamie and Claire? Huh.

6. who is your favorite couple in 2?

When Shirbert get together, it will be them. But as for current couples, I think how they’ve written Rachel and Thomas Lynde’s relationship is adorable. An older couple that still behaves like newlyweds all the time. Very cute.

7. what is your favorite episode in 1?

This is NOT a fair question.

For a long time, it was Praimfaya. I don’t think I slept the night after it aired and it’s definitely the episode I rewatched the most times. Then it was How We Get to Peace from last season. But Season 6 has been some of the best television I’ve seen. 6x05, 6x07, 6x09, and 6x10 are all standouts to me. Maybe I should have waited until after the finale to do this...

8. what is your favorite episode of 5?

Hmmm. I really like 2x10 and 2x15 because Kim Burgess is my hero, and anytime the plot revolves around her is a good episode, plus quality Burzek content. 2x20 is super heavy and devastating, but it’s really stuck with me as well.

9. what is your favorite season of 2?

Season 1!!! I loved being reintroduced to all my favs from Avonlea!

10. how long have you watched 1?

I started watching during the hiatus between Season 3 and Season 4, so almost 3 years. I binged the 1st 3 seasons in like a day and a half, and I’ve been here ever since.

11. how did you become interested in 3?

Ahaha, I used to work in a daycare with several ladies who were older than me. We went out to dinner one night and were talking about TV shows, and one of them started talking about Outlander and the beautiful Scottish men in their kilts. “It’s like knee porn” was her exact quote. A few months later, I learned that my parents had paid for the Starz channel on Amazon and were also watching it, so I hacked their account and used them for my own selfish gain. I regret nothing.

12. who is your favorite actor in 4?

John Krasinski, because I have a big ole fat crush on him, ok???

13. which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

As it says in my blog description, The 100 has ruined me for all other television. It’s gonna take a lot to knock it out of #1 in my heart. As long as Jason and Kim don’t completely blow it with season 7, anyway.

The 100. 84 (as of tonight) vs 55. 

15. if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

PAM. BEESLY. HALPERT. Fun fact, I actually played Pam in a The Office parody video my AP English class did my senior year of high school when we were learning about satire.

Pfffffffffffffffffft, I’M DEAD. There is no way it would work, but now I’m kind of dying to see someone try!!

I’m a lowkey Murven shipper, ngl. Clarke and Murphy would be the sassiest crack ship. If Miller wasn’t strictly interested in men, I’d ship the heck out of Miller x Gaia. As is, they are my new favorite BrOTP.

18. overall, which story has the better storyline, 3 or 5?

Definitely 3. A lot of it has to do with story telling in serial vs episodic tv shows. But also time travel? Beautiful Scottish men in kilts? I mean hello??

19. which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?

Definitely The Office. Iconic.

2. who is your least favorite character in 1?

Hmm. I have to say Cage Wallace. All around an evil, selfish bastard. In a show as morally grey as t100, he was straight-up awful to me. 

3. what is your favorite episode of 4?

Ugh. There are so many good ones. If I had to pick a fave, it’d be 2x13. Super intense. The way the team bands together to save Chloe’s life and the emotion of “Unsteady” in the background was so powerful I got chills watching it. 10/10. 

4. what is your favorite season of 5?

I’d say season 2. The early seasons are special to me and I live for the pining between Jim & Pam and their cute friendship. Yes, please. 

5. who is your favorite couple in 3?

Of course it’s the show where I have multiple otp’s. It might be a tie between Jonerys and Braime. I love them both and their endings broke me 😢

6. who is your favorite couple in 2?

That’s easy lol. Jamie/Claire all the way, babey.

Ahh how do I choose?? Praimfaya has Peak Bellarke and that crazy time jump reveal plus Clarke’s 2,199 phone calls so it’s def up there. 

S6 has been such a goldmine for content, this is hard. I have to say Nevermind bc I’m always here for my bitch Clarke getting the focus and the ep was emotional as hell. I loved the mindspace stuff so much! 

8. what is your favorite episode of 5?

The Finale, s9, immediately popped into my head. There’s Dwight & Angela’s wedding, Michael coming back, the last talking heads. Ugh. It gets me crying every single time. 

9. what is your favorite season of 2?

Definitely season 1. I loved the setting with the Mackenzie’s, watching Jamie & Claire fall in love, and the drama with Blackjack in the beginning had me on the edge of my seat. Amazing season. 

10. how long have you watched 1?

Not long, actually. I got caught up when s5 was still airing. I’ve been in t100 fandom for a year now. It’s been such a wild ride already, but I feel like I came in at a good time. Kind of wished I watched from the beginning, but oh well. 

11. how did you become interested in 3?

My dad pushed me into it, but come on. GoT is everywhere. Can’t really avoid it, so I caved. After that hideous ending, oh do I reget it. Yikes. 

12. who is your favorite actor in 4?

Tom Ellis is a gem. He plays Lucifer with such charisma and danger and vulnerability. The combination is thrilling to watch. I love his performance in every episode and he’s gorgeous too! 

13. which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

T100 has taken over my life, so yeah that’s the winner. I’ve re-watched The Office more and it’s special to me, but Clarke & Bellamy are my babies. I gotta be a loyal hoe.

I think 3. GoT has 8 seasons. 

15. if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

Chloe Decker. She’s a badass cop and Lucifer Morningstar is in love with her. Her life is pretty great haha.

That’d be interesting. The settings don’t match at all, but I’d love to see Lucifer in King’s Landing so why not?

So my pick for a crack-ship? I feel like Clarke x Gaia could work. Idk how unlikely it is, but they both love Madi. Or Clarke x Emori. Hell, Clurphy is hot too, not gonna lie. 

Idk man. They’re all attractive people and have good chemistry (with a few exceptions 😉). I’m open to Murven, Murphamy and Octavia x Gabriel. 

18. overall, which story has the better storyline, 3 or 5?

The Office. Could have been GoT but they fucked everything up so. The Office was true to its characters, consistently funny and gave the show a satisfying ending. Not that hard to beat GoT there. 

19. which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?

Outlander’s theme music is hauntingly beautiful. Hands-down.

DWCS Episode 3 Primer

Thus far the 3rd season of the Contenders Season has given us four fighters; 1 HW (Yorgan de Castro), 1 MW (Punahele Soriano), 1 BW (Miles Johns), 1 WW (Miguel Baeza). What’s episode three got for us?

Joseph Solecki (7-2, 25 years old, Pro since 2016) vs James Wallace (9-2, 26 years old, Pro since 2015) Lightweights

Joseph Solecki Where He Fight At? ROC and CFFC! Solecki has fought primarily in CFFC. Who’d He Ever Beat? Not anybody necessarily that I'd be familiar with for sure. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 37-23-1! That's not awful but definitely not exactly the sexiest of records. His two losses are a combined 10-2 (2-0 Cesar Balmaceda, 8-2 TUF Brazil fighter Nikolas Motta). His last fight out, Solecki beat 7-6 Jacob Bohn by decision. Why Is He Here? Eh, I mean Solecki isn't a bad idea on paper. He's a guy who has hung out on the regional circuit and he's a young lightweight. Watching him fight, you can kinda see some upside as a crazy grappling guy. He is quick, has exciting fights and tends to finish them when he gets the chance. He's a fun guy to keep an eye on even if the records presented here are pretty gross.

James Wallace Where He Fight At? Wallace is one of those dudes who has been pretty much everywhere. Bellator, LFA, V3 Fights and Summit FC; four promotions of various qualities who have at least been holding shows for a good long minute. Who’d He Ever Beat? Kinda nobody of note but kinda sorta some intriguing names? His early career was complete and utter fluff but in his last five fights, Wallace has beaten 6-2 Sean Holden, 3-0 Kaleb Harris and 3-0 Stash Kuyukendall. Maybe not the creme de la creme of MMA but those are at least spiffy records on paper. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 32-29. Little bit of a yuck city here. Hard to get excited about 32-29 with some serious fluff on here like 8-16 Jimmy Van Horn and 0-4 Henry. His two losses were a combined 4-1. Why Is He Here? Solecki vs Wallace feels like one of those fights where both guys are so close, dare we say virtually identical, that it makes sense they'd be matched up together. Watching Wallace's few fights out there on youtube land, I got a pretty good comp for him I feel; Mickey Gall. He's kind of an uncoordinated striker who has some natural pop that needs refining. He's a BJJ ace first and foremost so he prefers working on the mat and even most of the times off his back. He's squirrelly and athletic but maybe without much purpose behind what he does. This is the sort of guy this show tends to gravitate towards.

Kenneth Bergh (6-0, 30 years old, Pro since 2013) vs Antonio Tricoli (11-3, 28 years old, Pro since 2013) Light Heavyweights

Kenneth Bergh Where He Fight At? There are two places you'd recognize Bergh from. The first is Cage Warriors where he last fought at and the other? TUF! He was a TUF 23 contestant (the same season that gave us Khalil Rountree, Eric Spicely and Andrew Sanchez) although he lost in the "Get in the house" round to Eric Spicely. Who’d He Ever Beat? How's about our old pal Norman Paraisy?! Two time TUF try out and Cage Warriors veteran Norman Paraisay was the last opponent of Bergh; a 2nd round rear naked choke win for the Norweigan. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 23-11-2. That's probably what you should expect from a big dude who has six pro fights officially. That said if you remove Norman Paraiasy from the mix and his 15-4-2 record, you're left with a not too pretty 8-7 for his combined other five opponents. Why Is He Here? He's a light heavyweight! It's really that simple on paper. Dig a bit deeper and there's cause to be made that Bergh is pretty much what this show is about; he's a fight finisher with all six of his wins coming by submission, he had his failed stint on TUF and then rebounded to beat two pretty tough guys in Brett McDermott and Norman Paraisy by submission and he's still somewhat on the right side of 30 given that he JUST turned 30 this month. The UFC knows who he is based off of TUF as well. The problem I have is that Kenneth Bergh has not fought since June of 2017, ergo he's technically coming into this fight on a two year inactivity streak. Vomitando.

Antonio Tricoli Where He Fight At? Tricoli has a ridiculous amount of fights in promotions you'd know of. Brazilian fans probably know of Imperium MMA and Jungle Fight and American fans should still have found memories of Legacy FC. Tricoli has been at this for a good long minute. Who’d He Ever Beat? His BEST win is actually pretty solid regional MMA wise. Tricoli beat Wendell Oliveira who you may remember from TUF Brazil Season Two and an 0-2 stint inside the UFC (with losses to legitimate top 10 WWs like Darren Till and Santiago Ponzinibbio). Tricoli's three losses are all very solid as you have Dhiego Lima (still in the UFC), Jacob Volkmann (had a long stint in the org) and Brazilian fight circuit veteran Marcelo Barbosa who was 11-3. All good comp. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 91-46! Tricoli has been around, man! His best win is the aforementioned Wendell Oliveira at 24-9 while his losses were to 18-6 Jacob Volkmann and Dhiego Lima at 10-4. Even Wendell Barbosa is 7-3. Rodrigo Carlos by the way at 20-13 is also one of his wins and Carlos is sort of the universal "Fight everybody" guy in Brazil. Why Is He Here? The natural instinct in me is to look at a dude like Tricoli and assume he's here to test Kenneth Bergh. He's the more shopworn of the two despite being younger, he's fought the better competition but more often than not lost to them, he's quit on his stool in the past against smaller fighters and he's on a decision streak. This feels like a chance to test whether Bergh can get into the UFC. At the same time, male Brazilian MMA is really in a lull in the UFC and Tricoli may be here because the UFC thinks that his 3-0 record at 205 lbs is more a sign of a guy evolving into his best form.

Jacob Rosales (11-4, 23 years old, Pro since 2015) vs Jonathan Pearce (8-3, 27 years old, Pro since 2014) Lightweights

Jacob Rosales Where He Fight At? For being just 23 years old, Rosales is a well traveled dude. He's fought for LFA, RFA, Bellator and Combates. He also fought for Shamrock FC which is sort of a gateway into Bellator as well. Maybe he has tremendous representation but it sure seems like a lot of organizations who know a thing or two about a thing or two like him. His last fight was in FCOC which seems like a nondescript bit of business until you learn they have a CATCHWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP (apparently at 165 lbs). Who’d He Ever Beat? Rosales has packed fifteen pro fights into four years. That probably requires a fair bit of barnacle scrubbing. As such it shouldn't be much of a surprise that Rosales' best win is probably regional veteran Joshua Jones (7-4) or Ivan Castillo (16-10). Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 74-65-1! In fifteen fights, Rosales has packed in some pretty good numbers. His last four opponents alone are 46-35 and the number is somewhat skewered by his last opponent, 15-25 Quinton McConnell. His four losses are a combined 15-10-1 including what looks like a borderline inexcusable loss to 4-7-1 Derion Chapman in 2017. Why Is He Here? On paper I feel like there's a lot of good to be looked at. Rosales is a really young guy who is still fresh in his fighting career, he's on a four fight winning streak vs top competition and big name organizations have brought him in. His third ever pro fight was on an RFA card which again suggests that he's got some followers. Watching the bevy of footage out there (including the loss to Chapman), Rosales seems like the sort of dude Dana White would absolutely fall in love with. He's a hyperactive scrapper by trade who throws with reckless abandon, is more chin than defense with length on the feet and an aggressive ground game. This is the sort of guy Dana White likes. It's not that big of a surprise that he's here. I just don't know how high the upside is if he's letting dudes who are 4-7-1 rock him consistently.

Jonathan Pearce Where He Fight At? Pearce is another guy who has been everywhere so to speak. Valor Fights and Shogun Fights are pretty well known regional orgs in the Northeast and it seems like Pearce has done most of his work in places like Tennessee and North Carolina. He does have two Bellator appearances on his resume as well. Who’d He Ever Beat? Pearce's win/loss record? Not so hot I guess. Jonathan Pearce's opposition is not too great BUT he does have 6-1 Omar Johnson on it. Johnson's record is equally fluffy but he did fight and lose to WSOF/Bellator/LFA veteran Jaleel Willis. That's something. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 45-20 would be the record of opposition at the time they fought which isn't too bad. To his credit of his eleven fights, only one of his opponents had a losing record. The best fighter is Omar Johnson. Why Is He Here? Pearce is a pretty interesting guy; remove a three fight skid which includes a loss to DWTCS alum Peter Petties and Pearce is 8-0 with wins over some reputable regional competition. He's on the right side of 30, coming into this fight on a four fight finishing streak with some of those wins happening in Bellator. Fighters like him are of value and at the very least wind up on the short notice list when the UFC needs a guy. He also trains with the MMALab and they seem to have an in on DWTCS since a lot of their guys wind up filling spots on it. They're the even further West version of Fortis MMA.

Chris Ocon (4-0, 23 years old, pro since 2017) vs Hunter Azure (5-0, 27 years old, pro since 2017) Bantamweights

Chris Ocon Where He Fight At? With just 4 fights and 2 in the same locale, Ocon has spent most of his time in Tennessee. He's another Valor Fights guy. Who’d He Ever Beat? Nobody really. He's had four fights and they're all against guys you'd never hear of. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 7-3 combined record for his four opponents. Ocon is SUPER green obviously with just two years into his career and under five pro fights. His best win is actually his pro debut against then 2-1 Dre Miley. Miley has gone on to go 6-2 and I think he might be a bit of a legitimate prospect except he's got an eye issue which IMO would have him far off their radar. Why Is He Here? Chris Ocon is in a weird spot here and it almost feels like one of those cases where even IF he wins, the UFC will be telling him that he's still not ready yet. He's four fights into his career, looks moderately impressive in glimpses and has the tools that would normally get them excited. He's just too raw and in a division like 135 lbs where even the bottom half of the division is quality capable dudes.

Hunter Azure Where He Fight At? After starting most of his career in small regional orgs, Azure has had his last three pro fights at LFA. Who’d He Ever Beat? Nobody really good I suppose. Azure has faced some reputable fighters for a young prospect but nothing that you'd hang your hat on. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight?  Azure's five combined opponents are 17-14. To his credit, he fought just one guy with a sub .500 record so at least he wasn't barnacle scrubbing. His best win is probably Jaime Hernandez who was 3-1 at the time with sole loss being to DWCS alum Rico Disculio. Why Is He Here? Hunter Azure is a more polished version of Chris Ocon which makes me wonder if Azure is the guy they expect to find a home for quickly. Azure has been groomed in LFA where he could develop his skills as main card filler. Watching his fights, you can see that he's got a serious lack of  developed tools but a lot of intriguing assets to his game that could in the future lead to him developing into something. He's also yet another MMA lab guy.

Maki Pitolo (11-4, 28 years old, Pro since 2013) vs Justin Sumter (7-2, 29 years old, Pro since 2016) Middleweights

Maki Pitolo Where He Fight At? Maki's been everywhere I suppose. He started his career fighting in Hawaiian orgs and moved his way over to the mid west where he cut his teeth in Victory FC. He's fought in CFFC and Bellator as well. Who’d He Ever Beat? Some good solid regional competition. How do names like Andrews Nakahara (TUF contestant, PFL/WSOF guy) and Justin Guthrie (Bellator and Titan FCvet) sound? Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? Maki's been around for a long time and had a lot of fights. His record of opposition at the time of is a really solid 121-56! Not bad at all. Chris Cisnersos and Kassius Kayne appear twice and both guys are reputable; Kayne at the time was 9-2 and then 9-3 when they fought. Maki actually fought Cisneros in his 2nd pro fight when Cisneros was 13-7. They met up again when Maki was 10-4 and Cisneros was 17-9. You also have 28-12 Dakota Cochrane on the same resume as well as 4-2 Andrews Nakahara and 18-8 Justin Guthrie. Why Is He Here? The Maii Pitolo story has been kind of interesting to me at least. So when the UFC started to do work with regional orgs for Fight Pass, they'd fly in a few dudes here or there to be at some events just to promote the synergy. One of those guys was always Maki Pitolo (the other was Jose Torres). It made sense! Maki was a young guy, fighting out of Hawaii, he was the Victory FC welterweight champion and he had a reputation of being your prototypical exciting Hawaiian scrapper. It fell apart from there for some reason. Maki was KO'd in a rematch vs Kassius Kayne and dropped his Victory FC belt. Then he dropped a fight to Dakota Cochrane and he fell off the Victory FC radar. He had a few prelim showings for CFFC and Bellator in 2017 and 2018 plus they tried to get him on the Contender's Series last year. Pitolo on paper is probably an easy sell for Dana and the Contender's Series has been TRYING desperately for like three years now to find one Hawaiian guy. This could be it.

Justin Sumter Where He Fight At? Sumter is a DWTCS alum! He fought last year, taking on Ian Heinisch who is tearing it up in the UFC currently. He's fought for CES and Bellator. Who’d He Ever Beat? No wins you'd be impressed by. His wins aren't too hot but his losses are superb with Tim Caron (DWCS and Bellator vet) and Ian Heinisch (LFA MW champ and current UFC top 15 MW) on there. Record Of Opposition At The Time Of Their Fight? 59-37! That would be the records owned by the opponents of Justin Sumter. Most of that work comes from the likes of 4-0 Tim Caron, 17-16 Roger Carroll and 10-1 Ian Heinisch. Why Is He Here? The general sneaky rule of thumb is if you're a DWCS guy who fights twice and you win on your second go around, you're probably going to get a deal. We've seen Ryan Spann get wiped out in his first fight, come back and win the second one and then get a snazzy new contract  (which he's now 2-0 on). Sumter is a fine fighter and a good guy to give a second chance to.

The 100 Ask Game

I was tagged by the wonderful @thehundredtimesobsessed​ forever ago (or what feels like it, but I’m finally getting around to it today.

1. What Station on the Ark would you be from?

Probably Agro. My mom’s side of the family definitely has a green thumb.

2. What would you get arrested for on the Ark?

Umm...theft?

3. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground?

No. No, I would not.

4. What would the Necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh…)

DRAGON!  Dragons are my favorite.  Followed by red pandas, but I feel like a dragon would be better (I already own a few dragon necklaces).

5. If you could resurrect any MINOR character who would it be?

Roan kom Azgeda - I miss him. <<< Same.  Possibly Wells, but I became much more attached to Roan (probably because he had more episodes)

6. Create a squad by of 5 characters to go on missions with. Who are they?

Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Monty, and Murphy.  (This was basically pick your five favorite characters for me...)

7. What Grounder Clan would you belong to?

Podakru - the Lake People...I’m just going on that based on where I live, i.e. a place where there are lakes

8.  What would your name be in Trigedasleng? (example: Octavia=Okteivia…just make it up!)

Shilbi, I think that’s what they’d do with it.  I literally looked up to see if they even had a “sh” sound in their language; right when I was about to lose hope and resigning myself to “Silbi” or the like, I found a phrase with “sh”.

9. Thoughts on Finn? Some people hate him, and others love him, so I’m curious

I didn’t like him from the beginning. I didn’t hate him initially, but he got two people killed yet survived his own idiocy or taking off his seat belt. I thought he was going to be a detriment to their survival because he would take stupid unnecessary risks to show off.

10. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does?

Probably not.  My dad yells and me and my mom because we always need answers to motivations and the why of things.  I don’t think I would put something in my body without fully knowing what it is and the ramifications of taking it.

11. What character do you relate to most?

I want to say Harper, but also some Clarke.  In Harper, I see a lot of the traits I like about myself; in Clarke, I see a lot of the traits I don’t like about myself.

12. What character do you like the least?

This is difficult...I feel like it’s a cop out to say one of the villains of the show, but it’d probably be Cage Wallace.  I don’t know who it’d be out of the people who are still alive.

13. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical)

Charcoal grey jeans with a forest green v-neck t-shirt that has those criss-crossed strips of fabric, a dark brown leather jacket, and brown combat boots.

14. Favorite type of mutant animal?

...I don’t know...a mutant fox?

15. What would your job be on the Ark?

Probably like historian, archives, or teacher or something (based on my real life career path).

16. Would you have willingly pumped Ontari’s heart if Abby asked?

Yeah, I’d do what I have to.  Probably would be admiring the ceiling as I did it, but I’d do it.

17. If Lexa wasn’t Heda, but she was still alive then who would have made the best commander?

I don’t know.  I feel like it there was a more ruthless, battle ready heda, the 100 (and the rest of the Ark) would have been in a worse position.

Wait! An answer came to me when I was looking at question twenty:  Lincoln!  My friend and I liked to joke that Lincoln was one of the few characters with a head on his shoulders and realistic ideas and expectations for relations.

18. How would you act if you ate the hallucinogenic nuts like Jasper and Monty?

I’d probably just be giggling, at EVERYTHING.

19. How would you have dealt with Charlotte’s crime? A more John Murphy approach or Bellamy Blake approach?

Definitely a more Bellamy Blake approach.

20. Who should have been the Chancellor, if anyone?

Monty.  Monty is another character who had a good head on his shoulders.

21. Would you have been on Pike’s side like Bellamy or on Kane’s side? Or Clarke in Polis?

Kane’s side. No question.

22. Mount Weather had a lot of modern commodities. (example: Maya’s Ipod) What is the one thing you would snatch while there?

Maybe a kindle if they had that.  They probably would have different books than the Ark had, or the grounders.  Give me all the books.

23. What would your Grounder tattoos look like? Hairstyle? War paint?

Probably a couple tribal tattoos on my arms, maybe connecting with something spanning my shoulders and upper back.  Definitely ALL the braids; I already wear braids in my hair a lot, but I think they would just get more intricate for the grounder style. Some nice, swirling black warpaint around my eyes when I have to go to battle.

24. Favorite quote?

For someone who regularly collects quotes (though usually from books), I don’t actually have one.  But a quick internet search and choosing quickly, I’ll say a favorite is, “I say, screw fear. I’m telling my own damn story.” (Bellamy Blake, 1.13). It reminds me a little of my one of my favorite song lyrics, “I’m the hero of the story; don’t need to be saved,” from “Hero” by Regina Spektor, which is actually a pretty decent song for the show.

25. If all of the characters were in the Hunger Games, who would have the best shot at winning?

I’m gonna go with Clarke.  She’s smart and tactical and she does what she has to do. But if it came down to a straight up fight, probably Luna; she’d have the knowledge to survive the land and the talent to survive the fight.

26. Least favorite ship? Favorite canon ship? Favorite non canon ship? NOT INCLUDING CL OR BC OR BE

Miller/Jackson - It just came out of nowhere, with no build up, and I like to see how things unfold, especially relationships, and so I’m being stubborn about them trying to tell me it’s a thing. Zaven - All I wanted was for Raven to finally find someone who could make her happy and show her what she could should have. So, yeah, I’m in denial and not the happiest person right now. (I haven’t even watched the new season yet--I know, I know, I’m a horrible fan, but I was sick and then busy catching up on life--and this is something that got spoiled for me even though I’ve been trying to avoid tumblr for a week; I blame Critical Role for encouraging me to go on Tumblr last Thursday) Minty - I found the ship in fanfiction and jumped on board quickly and happily.

27. A song that should be included in the next season? If there had to be another guest star like Shawn Mendes on the show, who would you want to make a cameo?

I’m going with the song that I actually used as a title to one of my fanfics, “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots. (I also just am bad at knowing songs, so this I’ll stick with what I already know fits with the story)

Celebrities, another of my knowledge downfalls--seriously, if you ever want a guaranteed win in a trivia game against me, go with Pop Culture as the topic.

28. What would you do if you were stuck in the bunker with Murphy for all that time?

Play card games? Drink? There wasn’t a whole lot to do.

29. Your an extra that gets killed off. How do you die?  

You wouldn’t actually see me die, I’d just be one of the bodies bloody and lying on the ground.

30. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of?

I think it’s actually Echo and/or Emori, both would be best; I’m curious about everyday life on the ground before the timeline of the show.

31. A character you’d bang?

Can I say all of them? If I have to select someone I‘d choose Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, or Roan. Basically the same answer as Toni.  Ooo, I’m adding Lincoln to the list, too.

32. Would you stay in the Bunker? Go up to Space? Or live on your own in Eden?

Assuming I could survive it (nightblood), Eden. I need my green and I don’t mind being alone, though I’d probably still talk to the radio or the animals or plants.

33. In the Bunker, would you follow Octavia? What would you do to pass the time underground?

Yup. I’m a follower.  Read, draw, think up stories.

34. What crime would you commit in the Bunker that lands you in the fighting pits?

These questions keep asking me questions with the assumption that I am not Lawful Good down to my core.  I have no idea what law/rule I would willfully break and what the circumstances would have to be for me to do it.

35. Up in Space, who would you bond with first? Who would be the most difficult for you to get along with?

Harper, no doubt about it. Probably more so Murphy wouldn’t get along with me.  He’d catch me making a face at something he said, and I didn’t honestly mean anything by it, my face just reacts, and he’d hold a grudge against me for a while.

36. How long do you think you would last on Earth by yourself?

If I had survival skills (know what to eat, how to find it, etc.) probably a long time. If I tried it at this exact moment, not very long at all.

37. When the Eligius ship lands what do you do?

Run, hide, observe, freak out. I don’t know.

38. Favorite Eligius character? Least favorite?

Shaw.  (Why must all the good ones go?) Vinson, he was creepy AF.

39. Would you Spacewalk?

Assuming I could do it when it wasn’t illegal, yeah!

40. Would you prefer to eat Windshield Bugs, Space Algae, or Bunker Meat?

Windshield bugs. I was about to say Space Algae, but then I thought about the texture it’d be, and I’m pretty sure it’d be the texture that makes me gag when I try to eat it.

41. Would you start a war for the last spot of green on earth? What would your solution be to avoid it?

Yeah no, I don’t want to go to war.  I would try to work out a way to share it.

42. Would you rather dig out flesh-eating worms or stick thumb drives into bullet holes?

I think I’d stick a thumb drive into a bullet hole.  The first is turning my stomach to think about, but somehow the second isn’t doing the same.

43. Are you willing to poison your sister for the Traitor Who You Love? What would you do to stop Octavia?

 Gut reaction against it, but that’s because I love my sister and she’s the sweetest.  But if she did what Octavia did and had that personality, probably, as long as I knew she wouldn’t be killed by it. What they did seemed to work...?

44. Would you go to sleep in cryo or stay awake like Marper?

Sleep in cryo.

45. Who are you waking up first to explore the new planet?

Clarke and Bellamy, Raven and Shaw, Murphy and Miller. <<Same, probably Emori too, she’s resourceful.

I like to think Farm, I love plants! But also maybe Polaris, because getting caught up in someone else’s drama and then dying offscreen is probably about how my TV life would go.

...making an inappropriate joke about treason? this is based off the fact that I once made a joke about overthrowing the government whilst touring Parliament and did NOT notice the policeman behind me.

 my mum thinks I’m dead if she sees I don’t reply to her texts within five minutes so i’m gonna say no because i hate worrying people lmao

i have so much dragonfly stuff, so probably that! i don’t even know where that came from, but it seems fitting.

i’m not gonna sing his praises, but i think he’s more complex than some people give him credit for.  he did terrible things, but i’m never gonna get behind the grounder agenda of spending hours torturing a child to death. i recognise that this is entirely bonkers to say in the universe of the 100, but that dude should have had a fair trial

i wouldn’t do it! also i have trouble with pills, there’s no way i’m dry swallowing that massive hunk of plastic

monty!! i have also watched people i love deeply fall apart, and his struggles in season 4 really resonate with me. but on a lighter note, i also relate to his sense of humour and his deep seated need to snark at people. and eating leaves.

i’m gonna go with Cage Wallace, because fuck that guy. he’s just smarmy, it annoys me lmao

i would probably have a pretty normal shirt and a thick jumper. i like yellow, but that probably wouldn’t fare so well with hiding in the woods and such so i’m gonna go with a dark green. that + trousers + my trusty walking boots.

probably counselling or something? i can’t imagine i’d be very high up, but probably with people a lot, i’m no good with machines

Indra’s my go-to! she has experience, she’s level-headed, she’s respected, and clearly a strong fighter. i would follow her into war is what i’m saying here

i’d probably get loud and just start talking over people and offering opinions that no one asked for then fall asleep

i’d never have turned her away from the camp, but she definitely wouldn’t get away with it scot-free and i’d probably keep her away from the others to keep her and everyone else safe

i looooove those winding tattoos that go all around arms and legs like vines, so maybe something like that? and my hair is pretty short so i’d probably wear it as it is, but maybe add tiny braids. as for war paint, i can’t be bothered to do regular makeup so i don’t know if i’d even do it. minimal if anything.

The 100 rewatch: 2x06 Fog of War

This episode has one major character introduction (and one minor one), which might have been a cool reveal the first time I saw it, if I hadn't been always spoiled on it; some really tense moments involving major revelations for the characters themselves, which made me think for a moment I'd give this episode a higher rating; and a very questionable follow-up to the major storyline from the previous episode, which made me rate it lower than the previous few episodes, but nowhere near as low as an upcoming episode all focused on that storyline, and that's just because it's still a minor part of this episode.

You've probably guessed what I meant already: the way the show deals with the aftermath of Finn's mass murder in the Grounder village is full of problems and annoying character behavior. Which gets even worse in episode 2x08, but it starts here, when we learn that Finn was questioned by the Council*in Camp Jaha and fully cleared, because, according to Abby: "He thought he was rescuing his friends". Sorry, what? Usually it's the Grounders that get on my nerves with their dumb decisions and attitudes, but this time, this storyline always made me extremely irritated with the Arkers. WTF is wrong with their judicial system and their moral views? They used to give death sentences on the Ark for any damn thing, from smoking weed to stealing medicine for your kids to giving birth to a second child to getting born as a second child; they announced they aren't doing it on the ground, but then were insisting on maintaining law and order by locking people up for hitting someone, or shock-lashing them for letting some of them go on an authorised mission; but killing 18 unarmed civilians who weren't posing a threat, all on your own - that's what they're OK with?

*Speaking of which, who’s in the Council now? Not any of the old members, since they died in Diana’s terrorist attack last season. We never see any of the new council members and I don’t we ever even hear about the council again. It’s always apparently just the Chancellor – whoever it is at the time (Abby, Kane, Pike) – making decisions on their own.

Now, if they had released Finn on the grounds of him suffering from PTSD, having diminished capacity - that would be a different matter. But they didn't. No one ever says explicitly that Finn is suffering from PTSD or has any kind of mental issue, and if they do think he has, why haven't they tried to help him? Do they even know anything about mental health? Do they have psychologists and psychiatrists? Going by everything we see in this and the following seasons, they have no clue. But in this case, the writers didn't seem to have much of a clue, either. (The show did much better with Jasper's storyline later on, though characters in-universe treated it just as poorly.) They even let Finn carry a gun and go on a recon mission with everyone else, and this time I’m totally with Octavia when she says she can’t believe they did it. (But does this mean that Octavia is the only one bothered because she is the only one who knew one of the victims?)

There are just mentions of how Finn has changed, etc. And then Raven even tells Finn "We all have battle scars, Finn. Suck it up and build a brace for yours." Um, no, no, Raven, you cannot do this with mental scars. That's not how it works. But, ironically, she'll find that out herself with what she will go through in seasons 3-4.

When I binged the show for the first time, I thought Finn’s character was a big failure because he was supposed to likable and a good guy, but never really came off that way. On rewatch, I realized he works much better as a character if I assume he was never meant to be all that likable in the first place. But “did they actually expect me to find him likable here, or not?” is something I’m still not sure at many points, and that’s the case in this episode. If they did, they really failed. It would be different if Finn was showing real guilt over what he had done, instead of going around trying to talk to Clarke and complaining because she’s not comfortable around him. “You don’t look at me the way you used to.” Duh! What did you expect?

The episode starts with an interesting scene where Clarke and Bellamy are making plans how to save their friends from Mount Weather. Bellamy actually says at one point that, if the Council doesn’t authorize the mission to save them, he’ll go there on his own. Which he seriously meant as that’s what he does in 2x09. Bellamy then asks about Finn (the second and last time the two of them ever talk about any of each other’s love interests) and Clarke replies she hasn’t talked to Finn, while Bellamy is trying to make lighter of Finn’s actions, saying “We’ve all done bad things” - .obviously to try to make her feel better, and because he feels guilty for allowing Finn to continue the mission with just Murphy to look after him, since we know from before that he’s well aware of the gravity of Finn’s actions. Then Finn arrives, his body language saying: “Go away, I need to talk to Clarke, since my relationship with her is the most important thing in the world”. Bellamy is understanding and walks away, while Clarke is following him with her eyes until he leaves, her body language saying “I much preferred you company, why did you have to leave me with him?” She’s obviously creeped out and doesn’t know how to act around this new, murderous Finn, who appears to be so much different from what she thought the guy she fell in love was. The time they spend together – hiding from the acid fog – in the house, where Finn killed Delano, the Grounder prisoner, doesn’t help – Finn takes a chance to give her Jake’s watch, but the moment is obviously spoiled for her by Delano’s dead body she sees lying there. What do you mean, murder isn’t a great way to say “I love you”? But it seems like I’m supposed to feel sorry for him, when he and Clarke have an exchange about how war has changed them all:

“I don’t even know who you are anymore.”

“Neither do I.”

“What have we become?”

With how I feel about this storyline, it may seem odd that I’m still rating this episode rather high, but 1) it is still a rather small part of this episode (and I’m going to pour all my hate for this storyline into episode 2x08), 2) Clarke’s extreme discomfort with Finn is character and makes sense –they may have released him, but that doesn’t mean people really feel like nothing has changed, and 3) the other storylines in this episode are really good.

I really like the scenes where Bellamy and Octavia go on their own to find an entrance into Mount Weather to save Lincoln -together with some Arker guards who decided to help them rather than listen to their orders - and are shocked to find him as a Reaper, who doesn’t recognize them but seems to have some sort of a reaction to Octavia’s voice. Those scenes are really intense, and the literal darkness of the Mount Weather hallways combined with the cheesy Christmas song that starts playing all of a sudden from a wind-up toy, just before a Reaper attack, makes for one of the creepier and more effective season 2 scenes.

(Season 2 was by far the most harmonious one for the Blake sibling relationship. Or rather, the only one. Their relationship is usually extremely dysfunctional.)

Major developments happen in Mount Weather itself. This is when Jasper, Monty and the other Delinquents finally learn the truth about their hosts – thanks to Maya, who has found out that her “accidental” radioactivity contamination was planned, and realized that the 47 may soon meet the same fate as the Grounders caught in MW. I’ve always liked Maya – I trusted her since first seeing 2x01. She’s one of the most underrated characters on The 100, IMO.

The scene where Maya shows Jasper and Monty the cages with people in them and people getting drained, is a really strong one. I love this dialogue where she tries to explain the mentality of the ordinary Mountain Men and their silent complicity in what their regime is doing:

Maya: “Everyone knows, we don’t talk about it (…) Look, without the treatments, we die. What were we supposed to do?” Monty: “Die.”

It’s one of the times when the show really successfully did moral ambiguity. Monty’s answer is kind of harsh, but completely understandable since he’s just seen the horrors happening, and he’s kind of right, but he’s also kind of wrong… Because it’s not exactly easy for people to ignore such a basic instinct as survival, for the sake of morality and humanness. But as we later learn, Maya’s mother did make that choice, refuse the treatments, and die. And Maya herself will help the Arkers, and die, as a result – kind of killed by Monty himself, saying “None of us is innocent” as her final words.

We also get more insight into the Wallace father-son relationship, with signs of their upcoming conflict, and some more info about MW. Though Dante’s title is President, we learn that every president of MW has been a Wallace. They’re basically a dynasty like the Kims in North Korea. We learn that the initial plan for the 48 was to “assimilate them into our gene pool”, which explains the chocolate cake and all other attempts to charm them. Dante must have been happy to see Maya and Jasper get close, in that case all he needed to do was let nature take its course, but how did they intend to do that with the rest of the kids? Arrange marriages/relationships? Ask them for sperm/egg cells? Dante is against draining the kids and says he “won’t put them in cages like animals”. You mean, like other people you already have in cages? Mount Weather will, in Dante’s opinion, eventually will be breached by radiation, which is an explanation for the panic of the Mountain Men, but Dante insists that it’s not just important to be able to go the surface, but that he won’t deserve to survive if he allows it. Um… you already don’t deserve it. Why does he draw the line with the kids? Is it because he thinks of the Grounders as “savages” and finds it easier to dehumanize them?

(BTW, what on Earth made Dante give his son the name Cage, of all the things he could have possibly named him?!)

At the end of the episode, the kids in MW have decided to pretend and work within MW to get out, with Jasper and Monty have decided to volunteer for blood donations to fool their hosts. Raven has meanwhile discovered the secret MW channel, realized that it was MW that crashed the Exodus ship and that they are jamming all radio communications. She and Abby discussed whether to destroy the Mountain Men tower that does the jamming, which would allow them to get in radio contact with other possible survivors from other Ark stations, or to not do it and listen in to the Mountain Men conversations instead, which would allow them to rescue the kids from MW – and Abby finally made the decision to do the latter, which means she’s finally supporting Clarke in her determination to save her friends. The consequence of this is also that the Farm station survivors (including Pike, Hannah Green and Bryan) will only join the other Arkers in season 3.

The big character introduction in the episode is, of course, Lexa. Her right hand man/bodyguard Gustus is also introduced, and he utters the line “Blood must have blood”, talking about retaliation for Finn’s massacre, which is the first time we hear that line. I’ll never know if the twist at the end of the episode that Lexa is the Commander would have been a surprise for me. I was already spoiled, long before I started watching the show, that there was a character called “Commander Lexa”, that she has a relationship with Clarke at some point, and gets killed by a stray bullet after the first time they had sex – because that was a huge controversy in 2016, which you couldn’t avoid if you were visiting any online fandom sites, even if you knew nothing about The 100. So, when she introduced herself as Lexa, I knew “oh, so she’s the Commander”. The show did a good job playing against expectations by introducing her as a frail-looking young servant girl, playing on her youth and looks, so I might have been fooled otherwise, or I might have gotten suspicious after she was just standing there listening and observing Jaha and Kane all the time? Or maybe I would have thought she was someone spying for the Commander. In this episode, we just learn she’s smart and can be sneaky and likes to get a measure of her opponents/enemies – but we don’t really get more sense of what she’s like as a person and leader until around 2x09.

The thing with Kane and Jaha being made to fight to the death to supposedly decide who will live and be set free, reminds me of the Blodreina gladiator fights in season 5, except those were actual fights to the death, while this was just a ploy, and Octavia got the idea from the Roman history. But I guess that type of death match wouldn’t have been a foreign concept to the Grounders from the Wonkru.

The show tried to play with expectations for a second with Kane taking the knife to do something, as if he was going to kill Jaha, but at that point, we already knew what Kane was really like, so his attempt at self-sacrifice, in order to end the war, was not a surprise. He is still haunted by guilt for the culling (Jaha: “You didn’t order the massacre” – Kane: “Not this one”). One of the reasons I started liking him is that he is one of the few characters, alongside Clarke and Bellamy, who show genuine remorse for their actions. Another good piece of dialogue is when Jaha says that the things they did on the Ark were for survival of the human race, with Kane pointing out that the human race was, in fact, surviving without them anyway – to which Jaha replied that they are, then, doing everything for their people. Which is the justification/guiding motive Jaha has from this moment on: “for my people”.

I’m still not sure what exactly Lexa’s take from all of this was, since she declared to Kane“Your intention are honorable, and your desire for peace is true”, so apparently, she appreciated his conviction – but then she let Jaha go to be a messenger and deliver the dramatic message to the Arkers to “Leave or die!”, while detaining Kane to further talk to him, or observe him (?), or keep him as a hostage? What exactly was she planning to do with him?

Anyway, this is the only time that Lexa and Jaha ever interacted. It would have been interesting to see them talk about leadership some time, since they strike me as similar type of leaders: both are ruthless, believe that the end justifies the means and justify their actions by saying it’s all for their people, but their concept of “their people” is an abstract one, because they are less concerned with the welfare of individuals that make up the collective called “my people”, and are ready to sacrifice quite a few of them if their goals require it.

Timeline: 2 days after Human Trials. This is one of the few times we actually get some pointers about the time that has passed – and one of the few times we get a.. mini time jump. It’s weird to call 2 days a time jump, but most of the episodes start right after the previous one. It was only late in season 3 (after the “Six months earlier” tag in 3x13) that I realized how condensed the show’s timeline was.

Body count: 1 Arker guard killed by the fog, other two killed by Reapers, a couple of Reapers killed by Bellamy.

(also, i know i said i’d do this a few hours after i saw your post lmao but a few days was the best i could do in the end lmao X’D)

anyway, here we go!

1. every film or show i watch or book i read, i pick one character to be my literary bf. this is he okay lmao. he’s cute as hell, and a good person, whose mistakes are always understandable even if i don’t personally agree with them (the pike stuff was still bs but still...)

2. LET HER HAVE NICE THINGS PLEASE GOD. she’s super smart, knows it, and isn’t afraid to let everyone know it - hella inspiring. she also puts WAY too much pressure on herself - hella relatable. my heart breaks for her every season, at least she got a cute bf in this last one lol (finally something kinda okay for her!!!!!) <3

sidenote: i had to scroll WAY TOO FAR through the gifs to find one of her smiling gfdi lmao not okay >:C

3. this little badass! i love how far she comes between the last two seasons - she learns so much from her mentor, and makes the right choice for her own mental health to “drop” (as my mother would say) murphy while in space. love her blossoming interest in tech and engineering, hope to see it go further in future!

4. another character who’s come so far! who’d’ve ever thought i’d place a character i loathed so much in season one so high now??? he’s another character i want all the good things for - he genuinely wants to do good by people, but they always expect the worst from him, and he can’t always fight past it :’( love him <3

5. like bellamy, he’s always got the right (and/or understandable) intentions. like murphy, he initially pissed me tf off lol. but he’s the kind of mentor i’d want in that universe, and he’s generally a good role model <3

6. he suffered too much. so pleased he had a happy ending, but fml i cried from the second his son introduced himself as “jordan jasper green” until long after the credits finished lmao. got what he deserved, but still deserved better :’( <3

7. SOBBING. things would be so different if he were still here. like, seriously. did he even make a bad choice ever? not that i can recall. don’t @ me tho lol. yu gonplei ste odon <3

8. listen. she gives me the shits. but when i remember the little girl whose brother let her be the first person to set foot on earth so she’d be remembered as such rather than the girl under the floor, my heart breaks. she’s been through literal hell and come out the other side severely scarred. her story is so well done, and her character is fascinating. i still have hope for her, even if it’s just a single thread at this point lol (maybe two threads after her last exchange with bellamy)

9. deserved better. last words were an attempt to keep raven safe. died thinking she was gonna die. just fuck me up fam

10. literal saint. spent the rest of her life eating goop with the love of her life. went through some awful shit she shouldn’t have. r.i.p lovely one <3

if you’re shocked clarke didn’t make it onto my list, so am i tbh ngl lol. don’t get me wrong, i do love her, but i just love these other characters more *shrug*

So as part of my celebration, please enjoy another chapter full of these two cuties being mad cute! The fluff will kill us all.

The new lovers met in the library the following night, the night after that, and the night after that again. At silent hours in the deserted room, they need not worry about anyone walking in on them. They usually seized the opportunity to kiss passionately and with abandon. Neither mortal or god held back, and they usually concluded kissing when their lips were swollen and their hair a mess. On every occasion, Loki found his sleeping breeches to be painfully tight but never insisted upon taking it further, despite the tremendous urge to take her in every way possible and make her his. He knew that Ellie had never lain with someone and had no experience when it came to sex or pleasure, so he decided to wait until she seemed ready — unwilling partners were not something he wanted to experience. He took it slow for her sake, relishing in the fact that he would be the one to show her how it felt to be pleasured by another. While it was odd to feel it, he wanted to share pleasure with her; he wanted her to enjoy it. He did care for her, that much he was sure of.

And, apparently, she cared for him too.

While Loki would probably refrain from admitting it aloud, he was enjoying this new intimate development in their relationship. It was as they had been before — very close friends — but now with added physical benefits that he usually took from servants or visiting members of royalty. Now he no longer desired their attention while his mind was so focused on Ellie. Seeing her every morning as she came to go about her duties was a sight he ate up each time. He made a show of staring at her from his bed, watching wantonly as she went about her routine as if he wasn’t eying her like she was his next meal.

“My Prince,” she said with her back turned as she plucked his clothes from his wardrobe. Her tone was sharp.

“Suddenly I am enjoying when you call me by my official title,” he replied, propped up against his headboard. “It is quite titillating.”

Her voice was firmer this time, but he could hear the smile on her lips. “Loki…”

“Oh, my name sounds delicious falling from your lips like that—”

“Enough of that,” she demanded, turning to face him and trying to wipe the smile off her mouth. “You need to get up before the Allmother questions my ability to do my job.”

“But I prefer watching you as you move about the room.”

“I’ve noticed.”

“We have been courting for a few weeks,” he stated, still unmoved on the bed. “Surely you have grown accustomed to my stares?”

“Somewhat,” she replied and gathered his garments in her arms. “But they’re especially noticeable now even when I am servin’ your family and other guests in the dining hall.”

“Do not worry yourself about that, little one. I make sure that no one else notices. My gawking is for you alone. And I am not the only one who stares.”

She placed his outfit on the end of the bed and narrowed her eyes at him. “What do you mean by that?”

“Oh, Ellie,” he snickered. “You are just as guilty as I. If not more so.”

“Did you just—”

“I see it too now,” he continued on. “We may have both been oblivious before, but now my eyes have been opened to how much you blatantly ogle me.”

“Excuse me—!”

“You practically leer.”

She said nothing for what seemed like a long time, merely staring back at his playful gaze with one that was the epitome of fed up and offended for good measure. “Y’know what? Stroke your own ego alone in the library tonight. Evidently, you don’t need my assistance.”

As she went to turn away from the bed, he saw his opportunity and quickly reached out to grab her wrist. Before she could properly react, he pulled her back and sent her tumbling on to the covers. He quickly propped himself above her, caging her in with his arms and preventing her escape. “You are quite mouthy for a handmaiden.”

“I learned from the best,” she sassed, grinning up at him.

“Is this alright?” he asked gently, tone shifting when he realised their position and how unfamiliar it must be for her. The only time they were like this usually involved holding a dagger to one of their throats. Now they were very literally tangled in his sheets.

Her voice was mostly calm, but there was a slight quiver there despite her attempt to relax. “As long as you’re wearin’ undergarments.”

“Would it be a terrible thing if I wasn’t?”

“Loki—!”

“It will not be anything you have not already seen!”

“This is different,” she replied in a small voice, placing a soft hand on his bicep. “And it’s new for me.”

“I know, little one,” he murmured and settled himself down beside her, his arm keeping him half leaning over her form. “We can progress at your pace.”

She lightly ran her fingers over his skin, and he swore the touch left tingles. “Thank you.”

“Can I kiss you?”

“It’s not like you to ask permission,” she replied, leaning up to lightly brush her lips against his.

“I am being considerate. But I’ll take that as a yes.” With a smirk, he captured her lips with his. It was a long moment before he let her up from under him so that she could get back to work. He groaned and lay on his stomach as she moved to draw him a bath. “Must you do that?”

“Do what?” she called from his washroom.

“Be so responsible and dedicated to your work.”

“Yes, I must ’cause your mother saved my life all those years ago and I’m in her debt.” She reappeared in the doorway, grinning wryly at the sight of him on the bed. “So you weren’t lyin’ about wearin’ nothing under that sheet?”

He fixed his gaze on her and slowly got off the bed. Standing with the sheet clutched in front of his waist, he walked up until he was firmly planted before her.  “When have I ever lied to you?”

“It kinda comes with your official title as God of Lies,” she replied, doing a very subtle examination of his form.

With a flick of his tongue over his bottom lip, he said. “And yet I do not tell you lies.”

For a moment she was silent, eyes constantly flitting from his face to his chest to the sheet in his fist, knuckles white from the grip. The tension only grew as neither of them made move.

“This isn’t fair,” she grumbled.

“What is not fair?”

“This, you,” she stressed. “You’re distractin’ me while I’m tryin’ to do my work.”

“I am the best distraction I could offer. Unless you want me to drop the sheet as well?”

The way her eyes briefly widened and her cheeks flushed gave him his answer. “M-maybe another time when I don’t have’ta go collect those books you wanted.”

Noticing her distress, he reached his free hand out and held hers gently. “You are aware that you work for me, correct? I can tell you to never mind the books if you wish to stay a moment.”

The hesitation on her part left him waiting with bated breath. Pressuring her into anything physical was not something he would ever do, but he wasn’t about dismiss any advances from her either.

“I think that right now,” she began. “I would be happy to fetch those books.”

“Of course. As long as you are happy doing so.” He kissed her lips softly, earning a smile in response.

“I’m sorry, Loki—”

He was quick to cut her off before she could even start. “There is no need to apologise, Ellie. It is not necessary. As I have already stated, we will take all the time you need. Now fetch me those books while I get dressed.”

When the young woman turned to leave him be, the Trickster stole the opportunity to swat at her rear. He hit his mark and she let out a yelp before looking at him in shock. She fled his chambers, laughing as she went, before he could slap her again.

Loki pondered the unfamiliarity of their current situation as he washed himself. He had never been one for relationships outside of ones that only consisted of sexual needs. He was not usually this playful with his lovers. If he was honest, he had never been playful with them, although he did not use them either. Any relations he had with partners were strictly physical and both parties were aware that no feelings would grow no matter how long they were fucking. Partners came and went as his needs and interests changed and waned. That being said, he never did get involved with close friends. He wasn’t really partial to them anyway — he did not have many friends in Asgard — but he enjoyed having a bond with Ellie that had progressed so. Yes, the whole thing was foreign to them both, but he was enjoying it, whatever it was.

He liked doing things for her, especially things that would make her happy. Knowing that he brought a smile to her face only ever resulted in him smiling as well. The fact of the matter was, he felt good when he brought her joy. He didn’t care whether the arrangement would be disapproved of by his family, or that it was completely impractical and unconventional; he obtained pleasure from it and would continue to do as he pleased. It was the main reason why he continued to bring her to Midgard and why he agreed to teach her magic. It terms of these gestures, he had been thinking of one in particular for some time, and finally saw fit to breach the subject with her.

Upon Ellie’s return to his chambers, he had finished bathing and dressed himself quickly. He sat at his desk in silence, but acknowledged her as she arrived.

With a polite nod, she set the stack of books on the surface in front of him. “Your books, as requested.”

“Thank you,” he said. “But I wish to borrow you for another moment.”

“What do you need?”

“I had a question for you.”

His cryptic reply seemed to set her on edge, but she urged him onwards despite her own caution. “And what would that be?”

“I have thought about our visits to Midgard,” he explained. “And how they have become a normal part of life for us. I wondered if you wished to travel back home to Dublin.”

“We’ve already gone to Dublin,” she said, confusion evident in her expression. “Not that long ago, either.”

“You are not understanding me, little one. I am asking if you would like to visit your old home in Dublin. The one in which you grow up with your mother and brother.”

Ellie’s eyes went wide. “I… What?”

“Here, sit. Let me explain.” He pulled over a nearby footstool and plopped her on to it, hoping that not being on her feet would help to calm her down if the thought of going home was distressing. “When you told me of what happened to you at the hands of your father, you explained that, due to what happened, you do not know the fate of your mother and brother. If you wish, you and I can go back and find the home from your childhood and, hopefully, discover what happened to your family. I have been thinking about this for a while, and thought it best to ask you sooner rather than later.”

While the air in the room was not a tense one, Loki knew that it was probably the most sensitive subject he could discuss with her. He usually waited for Ellie to bring up her family in conversation on her own accord and listened to her talk fondly of Shane and their mother. Right now, her blue eyes were fixed on him, her hands fidgeting in her lap, one knee tapping up and down restlessly. Before she spoke, she pulled her lower lip between her teeth and cleared her throat. “You would… You would do that? You’d help me find them?”

“Of course, if you wish to. We can speak to my mother about it, if you so desire, and then merely ask Heimdall to point us in the right direction. Then we will know of their fate and you can have closure. Of course this is all merely an idea, and you are the only one who will decide whether we do it or not.”

“It’s a big decision,” she mumbled sadly. “One that I’m not sure I’m ready to answer.”

“That’s alright,” he reassured her, cupping her hands in his affectionately. “You need not make a decision now. How about you take as long as you need to think it over, and then approach me with an answer when you feel comfortable?”

“That sounds reasonable.” She paused, tracing her fingers over the back of his hands. “Please don’t think that I’m ungrateful ’cause I’m hesitant. I just wish to think it over and make sure I’m ready to hear what happened to my family.”

“I understand. Take as long as you need and I will be here when you are ready.”

“Thank you, Loki. You can be rather lovely when you feel like it.”

He laughed at her comment, flashing her a bright smirk in response. “Only when I want to be.”

After a few more moments of thanks and encouraging words, Loki left Ellie to her duties while he went to meet with his mother, his father, and Thor over breakfast. Once everyone was sat at the table, Frigga began the discussion of the upcoming feast. It was a special occasion to celebrate the palace staff and their hard work over the centuries. Guest caterers and servers were brought in to wait upon the staff as they savoured the food and drink. It was something that happened once every so often, mostly at Frigga’s encouragement, but Odin was not against giving the workers the reward and time off they deserved. It was a rather delightful afar and, although formalities remained between the Royal Family and staff, there was a certain amount of lightheartedness in the air. It was a happy occasion, and most took delight in it.

The night of the feast arrived rather quickly; the unmistakable buzz within the palace walls made it obvious. The entire palace staff — excluding the ever-vigilant Einherjar — we filed into the feast hall and sat at the massive tables. Loki and Thor were already seated at the head table with the Allmother and Allfather, watching as each person took their seat. The younger Odinson spotted Ellie easily amongst the rabble, sitting with Fen, Sevda, and her other former colleagues, chatting happily as goblets were placed in front of them. He was thankful to see that Dagny was among them and refrained from treating Ellie poorly since the position change. At the head table, the princes themselves were joined by Lady Sif, the Warriors Three, some distinguished nobles from Alfheim and Vanaheim, and the ever-annoying pair that was Frey and Freyja. Once again, the were invited to the feast, as was standard practice given the ever-tense peace between Asgard and Vanaheim. The invitations to special occasions were like a constant boot-licking from Odin, but one that resulted in subtle threats of ‘do not test me’ upon sitting at the table and chatting for some time. If anything, Loki just relished in the opportunity to piss Freyja off with more insulting comments.

The feast was a rousing success with the servants, but the more informal celebrations afterwards was when the most fun was had. Once there was alcohol involved and the music began, all formalities went out the window. Loki only tolerated the company of Thor and his friends until they drank an excessive amount of mead. Upon wandering through the crowd, he was pleased when he bumped into Radburn. As was customary, staff that had served within the palace for a significant length of time were welcome to join in the festivities.

“My Prince,” the older man greeted him with a fond smile.

“Radburn,” Loki said, offering his hand. “It has been a long time.”

“That it has, and you’re a fool if you think that I am merely going to shake your hand, my friend.”

Before Loki could react, he was pulled into a quick hug, but he merely laughed it off, embracing his former hand servant. “The years have treated you well, I hope?”

As Radburn pulled away, Loki noted his now white beard and the crinkled skin around his brown eyes. Though his body has grown weary and grey over the years, his signature grin was still a familiar and comforting sight. “That they have. I cannot complain.”

The older man was much like Loki in mannerisms and attitude. When he was first employed as his hand servant, the young Prince was surprised to see that they had much in common. With a similar taste in dry humour and little time for the rambunctious nature of Asgard’s warriors, they found themselves engaging in sarcastic banter and enjoying each other’s wit when they went about their duties in close quarters. Although he was never particularly fond of relationships (well, up until now, at least), he offered Radburn whatever advice he had when the latter had fallen hard for a fellow servant girl. He got to witness their blossoming courtship, their marriage, and the birth of their children, up until his friend’s retirement. Now, Radburn’s youngest son, Rainger, was only recently employed as Thor’s new hand servant, having been promoted from his previous position.

“I trust that your family are well? Is your wife here tonight?”

“Quite! Maeve is sitting at the table with Rainger.” He pointed over in the direction he had come from. “I came to see if I could grab you before you were otherwise intercepted by another.”

“What of your daughter?”

“Ah, Bea remains at home with her husband. She is due her first child in the next few weeks.”

“Congratulations, my good man. I don’t doubt that your grandchild will be doted on at all times.”

“How fairs your new handmaiden? What was her name? Dagny, if my memory serves me?”

“Ah, well, I was not overly fond of her, so she was removed from her position.”

“Oh! Rainger never mentioned that. So who now serves the youngest Prince of Asgard?”

“Do you recall Ellie, the mortal girl whom my mother brought to Asgard?”

Radburn’s brown eyes lit up at the mention of her. “Ah, yes! Of course. How could I forget the little one! You were both quite close. How does she fair dealing with your stubborn arse?”

Loki rolled his eyes as the old man burst into laughter. “Were you not my friend, I would reprimand you for that.”

“Alas, I am, so you will not. Come! My family wish to see you.”

The Trickster happily followed Radburn as he was led to where his wife and son sat. Maeve quickly got up from her seat upon noticing his approach and, much like her husband, pulled him into an embrace as she greeted him.

“It is good to see you again, Your Highness,” she said delightedly, pulling back to get a good look at him. “My, you are as handsome as you’ve always been!”

“You dote over me too much, Maeve,” Loki chuckled, placing a polite kiss on her hand. “It is partially your fault that I am this arrogant.”

“That I can agree with,” Radburn added, handing the prince a fresh goblet of wine. “Her lack of criticism ruined you.”

“Evening, Prince Loki,” Rainger greeted him, following his mother’s lead and standing from his seat. “It is good to see you.”

“And you, Rainger,” Loki replied and shook his hand firmly. “I trust my brother is not giving you too much hassle?”

The younger man laughed at that and merely shrugged. “Whatever hassle he may cause is minute in comparison to his friendly nature.”

“You do not have to compliment that oaf for my benefit.”

“My Prince!” Maeve gasped, shaking her head. “You speak so ill of Prince Thor when you both obviously adore each other.”

“Again, this is yet another statement that proves you think too highly of me!”

“My Prince?” Rainger asked, grabbing his attention again. The young man scratched the shaved sides of his head before speaking again. “I was hoping I could enquire about something with you.”

“And what might that be?”

He gulped slightly. “Your handmaiden, Ellie.”

Loki clenched his goblet tighter at the mention of her name. “What of her?”

“I was wondering — well, hoping really — if she was perhaps looking to court another? Well, I was hoping she would accept me if I were to ask…”

It took Loki all of his strength not to grab Rainger by his collar and threaten to knock all the teeth from his head. Although no one had seemingly expressed an interest in courting Ellie before, given her mortal status, he was not surprised that it would be Radburn’s son who expressed an interest. He had always been a reasonable man, completely uncaring of titles and royal status. It made sense that his children would grow with the same opinion. Evidently, this young man was unconcerned with her mortality. Loki did not know whether the two personal hand servants were even friends in the same way Ellie was with Fen and Sevda. She had mentioned Rainger briefly on one or two occasions, but never to an intimate degree. Despite the fact she may not have an interest in him, the thought of someone else putting a hand on her made his blood boil.

“I cannot really speak for her,” he explained slowly. “I am just aware that I have not seen her court someone before, given her status mostly.”

“That’s a shame,” Radburn said. “She is a lovely young woman.”

Rainger nodded slowly, now scratching his beard in thought. “I suppose all I can do is ask. As long as the request would not anger her.”

Loki pursed his lips together. “I doubt it will anger her.”

But I, on the other hand, will thoroughly enjoy watching her reject your advances.

Suddenly, it was like he was back in that Midgardian bar all over again. He said his goodbyes to Radburn and Maeve as Rainger took a breath to steady himself and headed off in the direction of Ellie. Loki slithered around the edge of the crowd, his goblet left behind, as the two servants met on the dance floor. Over the noise of music and laughter, he couldn’t hear their conversation, but he watched as Rainger politely grabbed Ellie’s attention. Excusing herself from Fen and Sevda’s company, she gave the young man a smile as he began to speak. Her expression remained calm and neutral the whole time Rainger spoke, using his shaking hands to make nervous gestures. When he finished speaking, there was a moment of silence between the pair as he waited patiently for an answer. Loki fixed his gaze on his lover as she smiled sadly and shook her head. As to what she was saying, he had no idea, but he hid his grin as Rainger nodded sadly and went back the way he had came. She let out a breath, pouting at the encounter before she searched the crowd.

Their knowing gazes met between the party guests.

When she smiled at him, he found himself doing the same without a second thought.

He could have sworn that he felt lighter.

Loki nodded towards the entrance way that led back to the corridors and it took no time before the pair met in a deserted alcove under the guise of their invisibility.

“Did you see that whole exchange?” was the first thing she asked as their figures reappeared, caged between his arms and the wall behind.

He nodded, his expression soft. “Yes. I had been speaking to Rainger and his parents before he went to speak with you. He actually asked for my advice on approaching you, but I offered him none.”

“Oh, a bad move on his part.” She let out a breath, taking hold of his shoulders and pulling him towards her. “But he had no idea, so you can’t blame him for tryin’.”

Loki looked at her, less than impressed, but shrugged. “I suppose. I was still not very fond of his attempt.”

“It’s not as if I was gonna say yes.”

“I know, but he does not know that you are mine…”

She sighed at his admission, resting her forehead against his chest. “I know, Loki, but we already spoke about that. We both know that we can’t tell people right now, at least.”

He placed a kiss on the top of her head before letting his chin rest in the same spot. “I know. Sometimes it bothers me when others look at you in such a manner, but I guess I’ll just have to kill them—”

“Oh my god, no!” She snickered and the sound made him grin. “Look, if it was a choice between not bein’ with you at all or bein’ with you secretly, I will always chose the latter. So don’t worry about guys comin’ near me — they’ll always get shot down ’cause I have my hopeful eyes set on another.”

“Oh, really? Who?”

“You, you fuckin’ eejit.”

He leaned back and studied her for a moment, languidly pressing his body against hers when he noticed her slightly unsteady eyes. “Have you been drinking, darling?”

“I’ve just had a little wine,” she explained with a giggle. “Don’t worry; I’m nowhere near as bad as I was on Earth.”

“I can tell. You were a mess.”

“Wow, alright then, dickhead.”

Now he was the one laughing at her pouting. “Did I forget to mention that I would make the same choice as you?”

With a roll of her eyes, she said dryly. “Well at least I know that now…”

“And I hope you never forget it,” he insisted. “Now we should be getting back to the party before others notice our absence. Although, given our current position, I think we should take full advantage of this before we return.”

The groan that escaped her nearly had him growling in response. “Then stop talkin’ and c’mere.”

Following her command, Loki firmly planted his lips on hers and enjoyed the brief few minutes they had alone. He had to admit that the time he spent with her was becoming more and more precious, but he had not lied when he agreed with her earlier admission. These moments made the secrecy worth it.

He had not previously believed it to be possible, but he was beginning to think that, if given the choice, he would chose her over and over again.

Loki did not regret his leap of faith for one minute.

Mid-Year Review: Dramas that I have watched this year, in no particular order.

I’ve come to realize that my drama taste rides and dies with how much I connect with the main characters. Essentially, give me an OTP that I love and characters that I want to root for, and I will be able to ignore the plotholes. To some extent this explains why I haven’t really been able to get into Nirvana in Fire (I know), and am having a hard time motivating myself to finish The Advisor’s Alliance and the Secret of the Three Kingdoms, but somehow managed to blow through 62 episodes of General and I in less than a week.

The other thing is as I’ve gotten older I’ve been less concerned with whether my drama tastes are “objectively” good or bad. So my taste tend to venture unapologetically into romance novel-esq OTPs or palace dramas. The last thing is that I realized that I’m not really a wuxia or xianxia person. Sure, I really did love Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei but I think it was the procedural aka Leverage-esq part of the drama that I liked. I’ve tried xianxia but let’s face it the only reason I made through both Swordsmen and Journey of the Flower is Wallace Huo. Anyhow, without further ado:

Finished

Because of Meeting You — I picked it up because I actually really liked Deng Lun and Sun Yi’s chemistry in Ten Years of Migratory Birds. For whatever reason I thought it was a light-hearted rom com and was totally wrong about that. I don’t know if this is ever going to be my comfort watch dramas because I found Guo Guo’s family to be so frustrating to watch — I pretty much just wanted to slap everyone in her family except the aunt.

Ten Years of Migratory Birds — okay finished is a little bit too generous in the sense that I did a copious amount of fast forwarding. It was overall too early 2000s k-drama for me.

Cage of Love — was it over the top and dramatic and bonkers with perhaps not the world’s healthiest OTP? Yes. But it was fun to watch for the pining.

Chronicles of Life — I watched it back to back with Cage of Love so it’s entirely possibly that I’ve literally merged the two very different dramas in my head. The OST’s great, Zhang Bin Bin is gorgeous, and everyone in the drama needs to lay off the magenta lipstick (aka why did they have Hui Fei in that magenta lipstick when she was wearing red? My eyes twitched just thinking about it.).

Legend of Dugu — despite the not so great dialogue and the plot holes, I actually found it really enjoyable up until episode 40. To be honest, I’m not quite certain if Hu Binqi can really carry a show.

General and I — as I’ve written before, there’s some weird plot holes and not so great CGI and the middle did drag, but it’s like someone made a drama from the shoujo manga of my dreams and one of my weak spot in a drama OTP is a noble hero who is willing to give up his life of glory for love.

My Sunshine — watched it as a part of my Wallace Chung binge after General and I. There was a copious amount of fast forwarding. Idk, I remain dubious of the premise in the age of social media and as a whole, I don’t have a lot of patience towards modern melodrama. I know this was quite well received but I prefer both Love o2o and Boss and Me for Gu Man dramas.

Still Watching

Mengfei comes across — I’m hoping that someday they’ll release the 9 episodes that have been cut. I like how light and fluffy it is because sometimes I just need a break from the plot. As I mentioned in my other posts, it’s much more of a sitcom to be and it’s honestly kind of refreshing to see a palace drama that also focuses on female friendships. What I like about the friendship in this drama is that it’s not really due to some childhood bond.

Sweet Dreams — Also somewhat light and fluffy (also sorta spoiler but I’m glad Qiqi got over her intial idol worship of Bo Hai). There’s not much commentary to it other than it’s an enjoyable watch.

The Advisor’s Alliance — it’s honest something that I promised myself I’ll finish watching. But it’s hard to muster the mental energy after work because I can’t just multitask with this.

Secret of the Three Kingdoms — also will try to finish. But again the lack of mental energy.

Cinderella Chef — I was super into this but I found it to be draggy? After a while. But I’m close enough to the end that I do want to finish it.

When a snail falls in love — I actually do like it and I’m a sucker for a good procedural, but I just keep forgetting about it.

Nothing Gold Can Stay — also in the category of dramas I like but keep forgetting to watch.

Dropped

Oh my emperor — parts of it are cute but it doesn’t have a practically engaging OTP or main characters. I like royal uncle but that’s about it.

Heirs (not the kdrama one) — I chose not to get into family law for a reason.

Old Boy — I find it to be well written but I got bored. Also, getting into the wrong car at a gas station is literally one of my fears so thanks drama for making me all paranoid.

The Four — I can only watch so many episodes for the lulz.

Sparrow — I tried. I really tried. But I couldn’t connect to any of the characters or the OTP, and the plot was not so interesting.
