as you might know. protein powder is pretty expensive so it's way more convenient to buy it in bulk. however. it could be that your go-to flavour gets discontinued. and in a reckless fit of hubris you think you'll be safe buying a whole fucking package of something you've never tried before and then it sucks. and you still have a 4kg bag of it.
this happened to me

When I’m feeling depressed, it can be nearly impossible to take care of myself, and that includes eating. Here’s a list of some foods that require little to no effort (aka: can be eaten right out of the package or just need to be microwaved), mainly for my personal reference, but also so others can find easier alternatives when they’re struggling.
Water bottles or canned water - stay hydrated!!
vegetables - green beans, peas, corn, black/kidney/pinto beans, chickpeas (all canned or microwaveable frozen bags) - I’ve also tried Harvest Snaps, which are baked snap peas & they’re v good
Fruit - grapes, raisins (or any other dried fruit like apricots/dates), mandarin oranges, apples, applesauce cups, bananas, pears, peaches, etc. (most fruits require no prep anyway, but especially if they’re canned - you can also buy frozen bags)
Canned soup or chicken, beef, or veggie broth
Pasta (ramen, spaghetti, mac and cheese, chow mein) or instant rice are my go-tos. You can buy these in individual cups or bulk packs.
Any microwaveable food - frozen/tv dinners, burritos, toaster strudels (they make an egg bacon & cheese version too!), mini pizzas, breakfast sandwiches… there’s a lot you could do here :)
Dairy - Yogurt, cheese sticks, (or just straight up eat cheese slices, there are no rules here), cottage cheese, almond/oat/soy milk, powdered milk (if you want something shelf-stable)
Grains & carbs - cereal, crackers, chips, popcorn, toast or bagels (I’ve eaten plain bread before tbh and it kinda slaps), Oatmeal (these packets are dinosaur themed & have little sugar eggs!! - https://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/instant-oatmeal/dinosaur-eggs)
Nuts - peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, walnuts, trail mix, etc.
Meat - deli turkey, trail bologna, spam, jerky, frozen chicken strips or nuggets, Morningstar vegetarian corn dogs, canned tuna
Eggs
Fast food or take-out is also a good option if you don’t feel like making anything yourself.
A little tip - most foods you would take on a camping or hiking trip are great! for some, all you need to do is add water & heat it up. they are usually on the expensive side, though!! here’s some I’ve found that are decent:
https://mountainhouse.com/
Things to keep on hand for particularly bad days:
Boost/ensure/Soylent - liquid meals for when the idea of chewing or mixing anything is too much.
disposable cutlery/bowls/utensils so you don’t have more dishes to worry about.
Multivitamins
Liquid IV, Gatorade, or some other form of electrolytes. It’s too easy to get dehydrated!
If you do have a little energy to cook or make something, here’s some ideas:
If you have a blender: frozen spinach + frozen banana + shelf stable almond milk + peanut butter makes a great smoothie.
frozen fruit + frozen spinach/kale for smoothies
Adding whey protein makes it more filling.
dried pasta + jarred pasta sauce (Rao’s is low sugar and awesome, but pricey) + frozen meatballs
Boil tortellini on hand. Its as easy as boiling water. You can eat it plain, add a spoonful of pesto, sprinkle with a little olive oil or butter and some garlic salt, or pour it back in the pan after draining and add a little pasta sauce
frozen fried rice + frozen stir fry veggies
favorite frozen protein and veggies for sheet pan meals
canned refried beans with a tortilla and some cheese to microwave, can add extra toppings too
oatmeal + pb + dried fruit of choice
rice cakes + pb + jam (or substitute bread if you have it)
Rotisserie chicken in a salad, soup, sandwich or wrap
Frozen salmon with some veggies
air fryer foods - chicken nuggets, tenders, fries, etc. You can also toss different vegetables (baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc.) in a little olive oil and throw them in there
chicken broth & frozen dumplings - you can dress it up a little with some miso, soy sauce or other seasonings. You could also add some frozen vegetables.
snack type food - a combination of canned Garbanzo beans and black olives. The olives are salty enough that you can get low sodium beans and it will still taste good.
A lot of these ideas I stole from the good people of Reddit (particularly r/depressionmeals)!Here’s the post I referenced if you’d like to look further into it:

ahhhh you got me when i see the minchan… i’m here to request a seokmin and mingyu where they both start bulking to get shredded but get too distracted with how good the other looks bigger and instead focus on making each other big as opposed to losing the weight like intended
gosh, a plump gym bro is the way to my heart. i hope you enjoy! and thank you for the request.
ship: mingyu/seokmin
wordcount: .7k
seokmin and mingyu's new years resolution was to get ripped. they were both already quite toned, the beginnings of biceps and abs already there, but they wanted to get undeniably shredded.
"I think we should do bulking and shredding," Mingyu says on the second of January. "It's where you start by lifting weights and gaining muscle, but also eating a lot. And then after a month or so, you cut down how much you eat so when you lose the weight, you're just left with the muscles."
"Oh," Seokmin says. "That actually sounds quite easy. And I love to eat, so I'm in."
They start immediately. Mingyu stocks up on healthy things like protein powder and vegetables so they have energy to burn at the gym, but also buys fattening things like ice cream and cakes and chocolates.
"If we're going to put on weight, we're going to do it in a fun way," he says.
The diet is successful, and Mingyu and Seokmin enjoy eating as much as they want without any shame. When they go to bed packed full and bloated, they say that it's more energy to use at the gym the next day. And they like that they can do this together. Going to the gym, cooking and eating together gives them more time to spend as a couple.
Their gym goals go well too. Both of them gain muscle in their arms, shoulders and legs, and the amount of weight they are able to lift gets higher and higher.
After just one month, Seokmin can see the added definition in Mingyu's arms. And he can also see the little pot belly that Mingyu has developed. Mingyu has an affinity for wearing tight tank tops, so it's always on display. Seokmin thinks it's so sexy.
Seokmin, on the other hand, is softer. He's also gained muscle, but he's also gained a soft layer of fat on top of it. Mingyu cuddles him a lot more these days; he wonders if it's connected.
Seokmin likes seeing Mingyu eat so well. He always looks so happy after a meal and the way he strokes his fully belly makes Seokmin crazy.
So, naturally, Seokmin decides to help him out.
He makes him heavy milkshakes for dessert every night, not mentioning that he's making them with heavy cream instead of regular milk. And when he serves Mingyu a plate of food, he piles it higher than usual, knowing that Mingyu will eat it all.
They both pack on the pounds quickly, Seokmin not realising that Mingyu is doing the exact same thing to him. He brings home baking from work almost every day for Seokmin to eat, and insists on Seokmin going to a local burger place after almost every gym session.
After another month of this, Mingyu brings up the idea of cutting.
"Do you think we should start cutting now?" he asks as they wash their faces in the bathroom sink before bed.
"It's going to be hard, after getting used to eating so much," Seokmin says.
"It will be." Mingyu sighs. "I like eating like this."
"Me too," Seokmin says. "And you look really good already." He reaches out his hands to trail along the distended slope of Mingyu's belly, which almost looks like a small beach ball now. He admires Mingyu, who's big in multiple ways. Big arms, big chest, big belly. Mingyu shivers under his touch.
"You look amazing too," Mingyu says. He takes one of Seokmin's developing love handles in his hand and shakes it, watching as his belly shakes as well.
Seokmin steps closer so their bellies are pressed against each other. "What if we stay like this then? We're both happy, and we look hot."
"We can get bigger." Mingyu's eyes raking over Seokmin. "I'm liking these," he says while taking on of Seokmin's developing moobs into his hand, brushing his thumb over the nipple. "Wanna see them grow."
Fuck. Seokmin is so turned on.
"I'm in."

Budget Vegan Meals
- Instant Ramen: Nissin Top Ramen Soy Sauce and Chili flavors are vegan-friendly, and they typically cost less than $0.50 per pack (depending on location). Add some vegetables, such as carrots, corn and broccoli, to make it somewhat less unhealthy.
- Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich: Peanut butter and jelly both last a long time and, if you forgo the organic and natural varieties, are very affordable to the broke college student (ayyyy). Also, get whole wheat bread. Please. I beg you. It stays fresh forever and is the healthiest option.
- Fajitas: Get a seasoning packet, load up on cheap veggies (onions, green peppers, corn, etc.), buy a couple cans of black beans and some wraps, and boom! You’ve got your next 6-8 meals.
- Baked Potato: Buy potatoes in bulk and you’ve got food for days. If you don’t have access to an oven, potatoes taste perfectly fine microwaved. Douse that bad boy in some hot sauce, sriracha, or barbecue sauce for some added flavor. If you’re willing to splurge a little, sautéed spinach and/or kale with garlic and red pepper flakes make an excellent and healthy topping.
- Pancakes: Super easy and delicious. All you need is some flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, non-dairy milk (soy is usually cheapest), water, and vegetable oil. Top your pancakes with some fruit for added flavor (bananas and strawberries are always good options).
- Spaghetti: Noodles and jarred/canned sauce. Easy, simple, and cheap. If you have a little extra cash on hand, mix in some veggies (such as broccoli and spinach) for added nutrition.
- Cereal: Name-brand cereal is going up in price these days, but generic brands are still relatively inexpensive.
- Oatmeal: You can buy a canister for around $1 and it’ll last for a long time. Mix in some fruit, cinnamon, and sugar for some ~flavor~. Or you could do what I did when I ate oatmeal for the first time and had no idea what it tasted like: eat it plain. Or the second time: with black pepper. Yum...
- Burritos: Beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, maybe a little hot sauce. You’re welcome. Don’t want to spend money on wraps? Burrito bowls, my friend! You can always add as many different vegetables as you want, but beans, rice, some kind of leafy green, and tomatoes should always be there. Always.
- Soup: Whether you buy generic canned soup or make it yourself, soup is one of the budget-friendliest meals you can have. I cannot begin to tell you how much tomato soup with crackers I consumed my freshman year of college. It, uh...was a lot.
- Salad: They don’t have to be expensive. Buy some greens, cucumber, tomato, shredded carrots, and onion. It’s simple. If you need salad dressing, a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil goes a long way.
- Tacos: Whether you use crunchy shells or soft wraps is up to you. Either way, the end result will be just as delicious. Instead of beef, use black or refried beans. I recommend adding a splash of lime juice on top for some acidity.
- Chili: Leave out the meat and double the beans! You could also chop up some mushrooms or crumble some tofu to throw in for a meaty texture, if you need it. Chili freezes well, so make a large batch and freeze what you can’t eat before it goes bad.
- Fried Rice: Frozen vegetables are your friend here. Peas, corn, and carrots. Fresh mushrooms are also good. Add some tofu for protein!

hai i’m online and would like to know what your go to lazy meal is when you don’t feel like cooking extensively! as inspiration for me loool
oooh okk hmm…
1. pasta with ready made sauce (the kind you can just stir into a pasta that took 5-10 minutes to cook) is what i’ve been doing lately lolol.
2. congee!! even faster with already cooked rice. any stock + any protein and vegetable leftovers + elevate with fried shallots (can get them in bulk), sesame oil and soy sauce. when i was young i loved simple congee with cucumber pickled in soy sauce + the pickle juice (LOL trust me)
3. miso butter on toasted bread — mix 1 part miso to 1 part butter. if using red type miso, I don’t add extra salt. also just miso soup so delicious… add seaweed for some iodine 😗 paired with rice bcus ofc
4. soba noodles — well, any noodle theoretically (i dislike wheat personally haha 😆). instant soba is extremely fast to cook and you only need to add in the dipping sauce/broth. i also love korean cold noodles (mul-naengmyeon) — you can buy the broth and pickled radish in bulk + add finely cut carrot and cucumber, boiled egg, and vinegar/gochujang/etc. to liking
5. japanese curry!!!!! my favourite :) finely diced brown onion, potato and carrot + tofu (any kind, try tofu skins too!) because it cooks the fastest
6. sometimes just a fried egg on toast guy. salt/pepper/garlic powder + sriracha (maybe kewpie too)
7. id put quiche with a premade puff pastry but im still fighting to perfect the consistency of the filling😞
i am at heart a lazy cook…

Some recipe suggestions/tips from someone who hates cooking, doing dishes, and dealing with produce:
Ingredients I get in bulk/always have on hand:
corn tortillas (get the giant bag of them and stick it in the freezer, they make great snacks on their own, and you can put mish mash in there and call it a taco!)
Pasta/Lentils/Rice
Tomato sauce and paste
Canned/frozen veggies (I like beans, corn, potatos, and peas especially but to each their own. Chickpeas are usually pretty good too.)
canned refried beans
Ground meat (I buy in 1lb increments and stick in freezer for easy protein)
frozen chopped onions
diced garlic in water
spices (Garlic and onion powder, cumin, curry powder, paprika, cayenne, oregano, basil, rosemary, bouillon, etc)
condiments (soy sauce, sweet n sour sauce, mustard/ketchup, honey, peanut butter, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, etc)
Recipes:
Samosa filling
Boil potatos or heat up canned ones until hot and soft. Microwave frozen peas, corn, carrots (or whatever veggies u like) until not frozen, or used canned. Put some fennel seeds into a pan for a little while until toasty, then add some oil/ghee and dump in your veggies/taters, plus some onions and garlic. Mush with a spatula and add curry powder/cumin/paprika or other savory spice mix to taste and cook until it smells/tastes good. Put in a tortilla/pita with some sweet n sour sauce if u want.
Lentil/Chickpea mishmash
Boil lentils until soft and the skins are kinda peeling, drain. Add to pan w canned chickpeas. Add some broth or water, just enough not to burn. Add savory spices, stir until chickpeas are softened. Optional: Cook garlic/diced onions in pan before adding lentils and chickpeas.
Soup
In a pot, cook some ground meat until browned, add some italian/savory spices. Dump in canned veggies, if using frozen then microwave first so it doesnt mess w cooking time too much. Season to taste. Add broth or water and buillon until desired soup consistency. Bring to a boil, then add short pasta noodles (like bowtie or fusili). Cook until pasta is almost done, then turn heat down and simmer and add spices until it tastes/smells good. You can freeze portions for later too.
Homemade pasta sauce
Storebought is expensive so: diced onions in a pan until soft. Add garlic, then tomato sauce (enough to coat amount of pasta u want). Add some tomato paste and italian seasonings (oregano, basil), then cook until it doesn't taste like raw tomato. Salt to taste. (Optional: cook ground meat until browned with the onions. if cooking from frozen wait to add the onions until meat is halfway cooked.) Boil ur pasta, then drain mostly (leave a little water) and pour pasta into the pan ur cooking the sauce in. stir to coat pasta.
Smashed cucumber salad
look up a recipe, there's a thousand out there, but usually i just cut up persian cucumbers, pour some vinegar/soy sauce/sesame seeds/chili flakes on there and boom
Peanut cucumber salad
Peel and slice american cucumbers, put in bowl with a lid. Add halved cherry tomatoes and peanuts. Add balsamic vinegar, olive oil, peanut butter/peanut sauce. put lid on, shake vigorously. If u dont have lid, then combine sauce ingredients separately and whisk to emulsify before adding to salad.
Also quick and great: Bean and cheese burritos, peanut butter sandwiches, eggs, caprese salad.
Thanks so much! There's definitely a couple in here I could fuck with, and yeah having more canned stuff sounds like a good idea. Not as good as fresh obviously but better than fast food right? Also, truly wish I could eat refried beans without shitting myself to death afterwards lmao that and chalula or tapatillo is why almost every mexican dish makes my intestines radioactive

Some General Low Energy Cooking Ideas Pt 1
As we head towards fall here in Michigan, I'm gonna start losing my summer energy, so I thought I'd put together a list of relatively low energy meals/snacks now so when the big annual winter depression hits I don't have to think about it and I eat less delivery! I've also labeled which ones don't need a fridge, because my fridge is like a weird cursed location where if it goes in, it doesn't come out. This is a multi-part series, since I will probably run out of space!
Pt 1: No Cooking/No Dishes/Minimal Clean-up These meals require the bare minimum of effort. No heating, no dishes, most only have a wrapper as trash. Downside is a lot of these can be expensive for what you get. Breakfast: -High Cost:Cliff/Granola/Protein Bars. I keep a box around at all times for breakfast, I really like the caffeinated ones because I hate making coffee in the morning! A nice, easy treat! Can be expensive, but you pay for convenience I guess. (No fridge required) -Gummi vitamins! No calories, but a little treat to start the day! I do a multivitamin, vitamin D, and fiber chews. (No fridge required) -No prep fruits, like grapes. I keep a bowl full of whatever was on sale (apples, plums, ect.) on my counter to eat, and always have bananas (more on those later). (No fridge if you buy small amounts and eat it consistently, fridge is necessary for bulk storage of most fresh fruits) -Pre-cut fruits, like the kind fruit trays have. Same concept, more refrigeration, more likely to contain watermelon (I suck at hydrating, watermelon is my friend) (Fridge absolutely required, these will get nasty fast if left out). -Dried fruits, especially craisins/raisins. Just bare fist those straight out of the container. (No fridge required) Can be combined with the below: -Cereal out of the bag! Works best with cereal with big chunks and no powders, think like Kix or captain crunch. Avoid cinnamon toast crunch and similar beasts, your hands get coated and sticky. (No fridge required) -Small yogurt drinks, like yakult or kafir. Single serve milk or juice cartons can also fill this niche, but I've only got one fridge and I am more likely to drink the yogurt. (Please keep yogurt and milk in the fridge. Juice boxes are usually shelf stable, but always check!) -Trail mix. Kars is the best, pick your flavor. Or you can make your own in advance and live off that! (No fridge required) -UCC canned coffee. This stuff is the bomb if you can find it. It's like the only non-sweet coffee drink out there. (No fridge required, but definitely best when cold. Can in theory be heated in a mug, but that's cooking adjacent for me) -High Cost: Soylent drink/meal replacement shakes/drinks. An absolute last resort, usually expensive and bad tasting, but damn if they don't replace a meal. This is specifically referring to the pre-made ones, not the powder. The coffee mocha Soylent is tolerable, otherwise pick your poison between weirdly powdery chocolate milks. (Don't get the ones that need refrigeration unless you like them. I don't, this is my desperation food and does not deserve a place in my fridge).
Lunch/Dinner: -Snack pack tuna kits. My go to for lunch, usually comes with crackers, a tuna salad can, the big ones have cookies and fruit! Run usually between $1.00 and $3.00, depending on size and brand! I like the Rosemary and Garlic ones from bumblebee. You can also make your own with tuna pouches/cans and crackers, but that does require a spoon. (No fridge required) -Lunchables. Pizza lunchables. Get the kind with the juice box when they are on sale, off brand works just as well! (Should be kept in a fridge, but probably fine for a day or two if you forget) -Baby carrots/snap peas/tiny tomatos. Get some veggies in ya! Best when fresh picked, but this is winter in MI, so more likely bought from meijer.(Fridge recommended if you don't want them to dry out, or if you don't eat the whole bag at once. Fresh picked during summer should be eaten straight off the plant, as nature intended (or rinsed for safety)) -Cheese sticks and meat, I usually go with pepperoni or beef jerky, but in theory any pre-cooked non-heated meat works. (Fridge highly recommended) -Pita bread and pre-made tabbouleh. This shit is the bomb. No need for a plate, that's what the pita's for! (Refrigerate the tabbouleh, if any survives. I will eat a container of tabbouleh in one go. It's so good! You can sub hummus, I just don't like the texture) -Chips and salsa. I just dip straight into the jar, but I understand that is both bad form and not always feasible. Tostitos scoops work best for this maneuver. Can also be done with cheese dips and pretzels, queso in jars, and any other sort of pre-made dip. (Some dips require a fridge, some don't. Chips and pretzels do not). -High cost: Shrimp cocktail platter. Remember to thaw, then eat. Best when paired with veggies. (Freezer/Fridge Required)
Deserts/Snacks (obviously there are whole aisles dedicated to this at most American grocery stores. I'm just gonna list my favorites that have some form of built in portions. You will note that I like crunchy textures.): -Strawberry wafer cookies. Even the low sugar ones are good! Nice and crunchy. Pirouettes and similar also fall in this category(No fridge required) -Fig newtons! Apple newtons! Most neutigrain bars! Date bars Give me some fruit filling!(No fridge required) -Cherry poptarts, frosted. Pretty much any "breakfast pastry" works better as a desert for me. Many granola bars fall in this category as well (looking at you, peanut butter chewy dippers). If it's marketed to kids, it's a dessert for me! (No fridge required, but General Mills Chewy Dipeprs are best cold.) -Fruit snacks, especially the fruit veggie snacks. Individual packs are good for me, because these things are the bomb!(No fridge required) -Any of the Kalbee baked snacks. Pea pods, shrimp chips, weird crab flavored things my beloved. They stab you when you eat them, thus preventing me from eating them all!(No fridge required) -Salt and vinegar chips. They prevent you from eating too many by being physically painful. Kettle chipped increases both the damage and delight.(No fridge required) -High Cost:Ice cream novelties~ Popsicles! Orangesicles! Klondike bars! I really like Coconut Outshine bars, they are expensive but so good!! (Freezer required)

are stomach issues common in autistic people? what do i do to help this?
yes this is extremely common in autistic people to the point I think maybe gastrointestinal issues should maybe be in the DSM criteria for ASD / Autism spectrum disorder criteria.
.
.
Every person's body is different and has slightly different needs
.
.
I personally drink slippery elm /marshmellow root/ dandelion /cat's claw organic loose leaf tea with just a TINY pinch sprinkle of powdered ginger, cinnamon and star anise and I don't use 1/2 water and 1/2 pineapple and lemon juice (no added sugar) tea every evening
-you can buy this loose leaf stuff organic in bulk on amazon pretty cheap.
- and U.S.A. EBT/ food stamps can be used on amazon for certain bulk bags of organic teas , and canned pineapple juice and some lemon juices, even organic stuff!
.
Once a day I take two "fiber well sugar free gummies" you can find on amazon or sam's club daily and a low-dose probiotic
WARNING: many autistic ppl find they gatta poop right after they take their probiotic and/or fiber gummies so you might want to take them when you're going to be home for a few hours!
.
-try to buy refrigerated probiotic from a health food store if you can and refrigerate your probiotic ; you might need to try 10 different probiotics until you find which one is right for you! usually if it has "raw" on the label that's better and I find sometimes I need a probiotic daily sometimes every other day, sometimes just once a week, find what works for you!
.
and I use Tuck's hemorrhoid wipes after pooping cuz me like many autistic ppl have extra messy poops.
Are tucks wipes terrible for the environment and our public sewer systems? yes! is it the best way for me not to have poop stuck to me? yes! sorry environment and sewer systems I'm putting myself first.
.
.
also I find that using aloe infused cottenelle toilet paper and re-usable washable organic cotton menstruation pads is best for inflammation "down there" which can be a bit connected to tummy troubles.
.
my partner who is mostly male and has a much smaller booty than me says' they benefit more from easily attaching a spray hose to the toilet or shower line its actually quite simple , chap and easy to do! to clean messy poops "back there" they like that better than tucks wipes.
.
.
*I cannot in good conscience recommend soy or almond milk to anyone because it increase estrogen and weight gain but the rest of this "drink your breakfast" info-graphic is solid.
Tumblr media
I also try to do one smoothie a day to kinda give my guts a bit of a break. I wouldn't go full-liquid diet ever but one smoothie a day can be really helpful to autistic people. experiment and find what kind of smoothie and travel cup works for you the best with your budget.
.
.
I eat the same smoothie every morning while my tum-tum is waking up: dark chocolate protein powder, ovaltine powder, organic plain yogurt, dried goji berries organic, 1 teaspoon of rooibos tea organic, frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries with 3 frozen chunks of pineapple (I make it about 1/2 berries 1/2 plain yogurt, you can add organic milk if dairy doesn't bother you and you want it more water-y /easy to sip drink)
:P once a month for a treat I add a scoop of nutella to this ; which is SO not healthy for you but tastes so good!
.
.
btw I can't always afford the organic stuff but if there is ONE THING TO GO ORGANIC FOR ITS MILK! non-organic milk can come with A LOT of problems it REALLY is worth the extra 2 bucks!
.
also , NEVER USE STEVIA! or artificial sweeteners! there were SO MANY STUDIES that found stevia /artificial sweeteners are VERY carcinogenic / causes cancer ; its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find these studies now which I find VERY CONCERNING! be careful!
Tumblr media
.
.
VERY BAD! : "Six artificial sweeteners are approved as food additives by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA): saccharin, aspartame, acesulfame potassium (acesulfame-K, or Ace-K), sucralose, neotame, and advantame."
.
VERY BAD! : Sorbitol is a naturally occurring sweetener synthetically extracted from glucose.
.
.
If you don't have dairy problems I recommend "boost plus" for best tasting quick n' easy smoothie but it CAN cause weight gain so...ya, probably best to buy frozen fruit in bulk and make your own in the morning or night before.
.
.
MANY autistic people and just anyone I would say MOST people autistic or not feel best when they go gulten and refined sugar free
.
- I know WAY EASIER SAID THAN DONE! and going gluten free can be SO stressful and seem expensive. I should honestly take my OWN ADVICE and do this!
.
.
.
but I don't cuz I'm silly and have SUCH a sweet tooth!!! I know there are sweet alternatives like baked dried strawberries that I hear taste JUST like candy w/out the refined sugar! I really need to start implementing the tasty sweet no refined sugar recipes I've found on google, pinterest and youtube!
.
(a lot of time google is best cuz it sometimes gives real 5 star reviews lots of real people have reviewed on recipes! )
.
.
but man I got so much going on and sweets and carbs feel so comforting at times ugh...but ya going gluten and refined sugar -free many autism parents claim this "cured" their kids of autism/ made them verbal, it's that their system is just way less inflamed and so they can think and move better but they are still autistic.
.
.
youtube
I felt SO MUCH BETTER and I could do and tolerate SO MUCH MORE when I went refined sugar/ gulten free and low oxalate diet... oxalate diet is the HARDEST DIET one can do! I often recommend to keep one's sanity to JUST cut out the top highest containing oxalate foods there is #1 black pepper #2 rhubarb #3 spinach #4 raspberries #5 blackberries (white pepper has less oxalate than black pepper)
.
.
I find MANY autistic people don't have full-blown food allergies but many food "sensitivities" after you can go a year of gluten / refined sugar-free you might want to do what is called an "elimination diet" has helped MANY autistic people, you journal how you feel after eating EVERYTHING and find out what makes you feel best.
.
.
If you want the scientific stuff maybe the MOST STRIKING difference of the bodies of autistic people verses allistic / non-autistic people is BIO-AVAILABILITY!
-on the cellular level autistic bodies tend to "let in" more of both good and bad, making it easier for things like candida to take hold and spread more aggressively.
.
.
Anyone who says "autistic people get more bacterial infections/jock itch/ yeast infections/ ear infections due to poor hygiene only" ARE IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO NEVER READ ABOUT AUTISM AND BIOAVILAIBILITY! so doing things like trying to fix leaky gut syndrome and putting in more good bacteria with probiotic /plain organic yogurt / fermented foods/kombucha and starving BAD bacteria like candida by cutting down on alcohol, sugar and carbs and KILLING bad bacteria and parasites with clove, oregano, garlic, black walnut hulls is good.
(so always use "Italian seasoning" mix and some garlic / garlic oil on your pasta, pizza and bread!)
.
.
.
youtube
#1 thing to remember with autism diet "cures" and such DO NOT EVER DRINK BLEACH! NO MATTER HOW DILUTED IT IS!!! this is not a joke! There was a woman "doctor" in the U.S.A. who told parents to give their autistic children diluted BLEACH to "cure" their autism...bleach is ALWAYS POISONOUS AND LETHAL OFTEN EVEN DILUTED TO ANY PERSON!!!
.
.
.
It is true most Americans and autistic people suffer from what is called "leaky gut syndrome" its not like a gunshot wound to the guts its only on the microscopic level and you don't feel many overt/ really noticeable/ significant symptoms with leaky gut syndrome.
.
Leaky gut syndrome is subversive/ sneaky and will little by little give you more and more constipation / diarrhea problems and make you little by little a BIT more tired, hard to focus and sluggish everyday. It is true most autistic people; especially Americans with their super sugar and carb heavy diets have candida overgrowth to some degree.
.
Look up /youtube "candida spit test" to find out if you have a candida overgrowth problem...but BLEACH IS NOT THE ANSWER AND CAN KILL YOU EVEN VERY DILUTED!!
.
.
Adding more oregano, black walnut hulls, cloves, garlic and drinking slippery elm / dandelion /marshmellow root /cat's claw tea can help with leaky gut syndrome.
.
WARNING: candida cleanses -like taking oil of oregano and black walnut powder supplements- can be ROUGH mentally and psychically!
.
The bad Bactria will make you super angry and sad until you eat sugar and carbs again TRY NOT TO GIVE INTO THEIR EVIL PLANS!
.
When I do a cleanse I ALSO take a 5-HTP, olive leaf, gas- X, star anise and Caprylic acid supplements I buy off amazon or purtin's pride website so I don't lash out irrationally at ppl I like and crave sweets too badly. but just cutting down on sweets, refined sugar and carbs is WAY BETTER than doing cleanses! I only do a cleanse when I get a yeast/ear infection.
.
.
youtube
***If you are starting ANY type of major diet change I ALWAYS recommend anyone autistic or not to take daily until your body regulates to take either by food or supplement 5-HTP, olive leaf, gas- X, star anise, ginger and Caprylic acid supplements daily! ************
.
.
Chronic yeast infections/ ear infections , "jock itch"/candida overgrowth/ leaky gut syndrome and food sensitivities are EXTREMELY COMMON in autistic people, these diet tips help most people but there are ways to fight back! Gain a bit more focus, calm and energy in your life, less tummy troubles and discomfort for a better quality of life <3
.
.
And as a pysch major I gatta say it: STRESS
-none of these things will cure all tummy troubles if you are stressed
It's easy for me to say:
"get healthy, a less stressful job, work less hours, find different partner(s)/ friends , cut all ties with toxic family/friend members, don't CARE about stares and what people think and wear sunglasses indoors and fiddle with a fidget toy or stuffed animal in public - just look crazy and be comfortable!
Move to house/ apartment you love, get a career you love, get healthy friends and a partner to love...that's not always so simple or possible.
.
Until we kill capitalism and the oil company vampires that run this planet, kill the electoral college / the oligarchy and super packs / legal bribes we are all ganna have some tummy troubles and stress...
.
.
sorry for infodumping; I'm very passionate about this subject and America's sugar-addition! I hope this was helpful and not too overwhelming if you have more questions about this or anything else let me know! :)

If you’re looking for strictly protein milk then Core Power has the best tasting strawberry flavor i’ve had :) It is a bit on the pricey side if you buy them individually but Im pretty sure you can buy them in bulk packages

okay I’m like 300 words from finishing act one BUT I hit 3k so I’m allowed to think more about the running AU
Hux is picky about his shoes. Like, spends a few hours researching before he even goes to a running store to try something on. I’m giving him my stride, mainly, so it’s pretty short, so he favors a thick ass sole. I think he would the Brooks Ghosts as much as I do. They’ve been his main shoe for five years, but he has a trail specific shoe as well. (I have two pairs and I don’t like either for actual trails so I’ll get back to you on that.)
Kylo buys whatever shoe is on sale and feels okay. He doesn’t know what plane his foot rests on, and at this point, he’s too afraid to ask. If they made light up running shoes he’d buy them because they’d make him feel faster. He can string together a good 5k but the second he passes from 3.1 miles to 3.2 he’s fucking dying. It’s entirely mental but Kylo Does Not Know That
Hux has a nice running belt. It’s a four bottle one because he’s a thorsty boy and refuses to wear a hydration pack because they’re silly (and they are but that’s a person thing). He eats at specific mile intervals and has specific snacks for each one. He buys GU in bulk because it’s incredibly nutrition to time-eating efficient.
I think if Kylo even tried to drink while running he’d choke. Like, full fall to the ground can’t breath choke. It’s a skill and he does not fucking have it
Hux plans his routes out before he even has his shoes on. He takes his RunKeeper account very seriously to make sure he’s tracking the wear along all his shoes, and once he passes over 350 miles, they become mowing the lawn shoes.
Kylo doesn’t know how many miles are on his shoes. he also doesn’t know where he’s going, when he runs. He doesn’t track shit, doesn’t even have a watch on him. no earbuds, no nothing. Homeboy is raw dogging running like it’s the 90s.
Hux keeps his bibs from every race over 10K. He gets them framed and as them all over his house. Running is his, like, main hobby. It’s also the reason he eats a gallon of ice cream a week, because runners eat like FUCKING GARBAGE. (This is not a joke. At some point you have to eat Too Much Food to make up for distance running calories and oatmeal cream pies are super calorie dense) That being said he only eats like garbage for 1/4 of his food because that a good balance for him.
Kylo is legit living on ramen and angst. Like, this boy is not eating enough to be running the way he is. When hux learns this he’s going to be horrified,
Hux used to be a chocolate milk after a run person, and now it’s just a chocolate protein powder. Gold standard whey, probably?
Kylo just buys the store brand and he forgets to drink it half the time
I have so many thoughts about the background for this fic and no idea for plot yet but *hands wave* have more thoughts, when it gets a plot and I’m not already working on a fic like my life depends on it, we might do something about this.
What would be a good AU tag for this fic? 13.1 Things I Hate About You is funny to me but Idk
i think that’ll be the working title we can always change it.
(This one will be much shorter I’ve got at most 10k of an idea here but I think that’s enough to be worth writing.)

Thoughts on protein powder?
it's good. it's food. it beats eating more steamed chicken breast. some people overthink that shit and really get into like optimising their intake, taking different types of protein depending on time of day but it seems like the differences are marginal. i buy bulk from costco and have it whenever i need it
