#lay rambles #my ocs #oc: liam hawke #oc: lilian hawke #both my hawkes are very social w their friends but i love comparing their boundaries around it #theres variation in rules for specific ppl with both of them ofc but theres still general differences #with liam its all very open and everyone can p much come and go whenever #they dont get extra keys (theyll get lost and he doesnt want randos finding them lol) but they know where to find the spare key #and bodhan and sandal and orana know to let them in whenever #hes very lenient in this this regard but he does have rules abt what he does and doesnt want them to do #mostly its about not making too much of a mess lol bc liam prefers to clean himself #(he doesnt trust the crew with his household and also he has particular ways of doing things and Hates when theyre done differently) #so things like keep your dirty garb at the entrance dont cook by yourselves (this was banned after they did it one (1) time lol) etc #also no fucking allowed. do that somewhere else for the love of the maker he does NOT want to walk into that in his own house #(and it also comes back to liam not trusting them with cleaning but also Not wanting to clean that up lol) #also he is not fond of them going into his room uninvited. most of the house is chill but that is *his* space #he accommodates these rules by e.g. having spare slippers and a little washing basin in the entrance hall for dirty shoes/feet #always makes sure to have snacks in stock that he knows they like #food will have notes abt what to leave for leandra/orana/etc but otherwise food is prepared with his friends in mind #and in general he'll make sure to adjust the space/routine in little ways to accommodate them #(air out when fen isnt there cus he doesnt like drafts; keep curtains open cus anders prefers open spaces; etc) #lilian on the other hand doesnt like when her friends come into the estate without a heads up (cept for emergencies) #but once they have her 'ok' its basically mi casa es su casa #dont yknow. overdo it and get too rowdy but otherwise do whatever #however. she also expects everyone to clean up after themselves. she aint here to play maid and youre all adults #also liam has a general 'please try to not be too wild when leandra is here' and lilian doesnt #not cos she doesnt care but cos leandra is bothered by sth she can speak up herself #oh and lilian uses the basement space as temporary refuge for anyone who needs it (mostly escaped mages) #also side note: both offered gamlen to stay but he refused (out of pride/remorse) #...this got long and i ran out of tag space lmfao so this is it for now xD

I know Iida gets a hard time for being such a stickler for rules but I actually love him a lot. So much. I love how much he cares about people. I love the way his nerdy rule-loving personality is portrayed as not only okay but useful in a way that isn’t common for his kind of character, and I especially love how his dialogue is used to bring in some levity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him dragging Katsuki away from the war answering his demands to be set down with “I can’t, your organs have been impaled!!” without laughing out loud

And he’s so funny but also so wholesome and caring and when he catches up to Izuku after the vigilante arc? Crying and smiling and reaching out? Voice breaking as he pleads with Izuku to come back? Actual chills. I just love him a lot, what a great guy

My dad owned a heavy glass paperweight once that tapered into a sturdy sharp point on the top, and the fact that no one was murdered with this at all before his retirement from the lawfirm is the surest proof I have that this reality is in fact not fiction.

part of the problem with hating having to go shopping is that my brain is also always "there's food at home" and "there's still stuff in the cupboards/freezer I can make, I'm not out of food" and meanwhile the only things in my fridge are the condiments.

i really gotta go grocery shopping but like... i can still scrounge up food in my cupboards

were there any pre canon concepts for adrien's/felix's room? i hate the canon one so much the layout confuses me

Afraid not. I think the closest we have is the information that Felix/ Adrian's family owned a hotel (this is before he was made into the villain's son.) A lot of early and even current ladybug is pretty focused around Marinette. Nathan-Felix-Adrien as a character is shockingly inconsequential to the narrative as a whole. (Which is probably why he was so easily edited throughout development whereas Marinette stayed pretty consistent.... And is also apparently still the case from what I've heard of the recent season.)

You can actually really see a lot of the inspiration that it transferred to the agreste mansion... But it also lost a lot of style and flair. Richard had a lot of art deco inspiration in the buildings associated with his character. And you can kind of see that in the hotel piece here. It's all connected, at least I believe it is.

It makes sense that the current one is frustrating. It's a mix between " oh this is what a fabulously wealthy teen boy would like" being full of video games and literal arcade machines, but still having like no personality? Like it's big. Because Adrian is rich. And it's like... Largely undecorated because Gabriel is like a minimalist or whatever... Except for all of the stuff that Adrian has because he's rich. And that's literally the end of it.

Edit: If I were to fathom a... A room that does line up with that hotel era then I would do something like this, except with more whites and golds rather than blue... Or just tailor it to however the cat's relationship to his father is.

#It's like go one way or the other man #is he overprotected and not allowed to express himself? then give him the bare bones room with nothing but the bookshelves. #or is he spoiled and sheltered where he can literally do whatever the fuck he wants to his apartment-sized room. #I never particularly like depicting Felix as a character who benefits from his father's wealth #largely because I'm caught between that crossroad of not really wanting to depict a rich character #but also you can't divorce that from Felix's narrative and still indulge in him being related to Richard #my favorite depiction is that sure his family is rich. But his father is also incredibly strict. #Felix gets the bare minimum. he gets a room. he gets a bed. he gets a desk. And because Rich is a generous soul... A bookshelf #but this isn't your house boy. And if you want to live here then you have to live by my rules and you have to fulfill my requirements #he has no rights to privacy. he has no rights to a space of his own. he has no rights to pick his hobbies. not while he's living there #and it's all painted in that bright white because if anyone's going to be a minimalist it's going to be Richard Sphinx #no wonder Felix likes to escape into books or hide at the library or spend his time in the park #no wonder he takes so easily to being chat when his life is like this #in Stark contrast to private Jets and literal yacht vacations and the best toys that daddy's money can buy energy that Adrian gives off
