WHY IS WRITING IS SO FUCKING HARD?

Ten types of fuckery that stop you from writing the thing:

1. Imposter syndrome

You think you're not good enough or everyone else is better than you and you're just winging it AKA ye olde imposter syndrome bullshit. Yeah nah you're fine. No really, you're exactly where you need to be right now, and you'll keep getting better and better so long as you don't stop. Chances are, if you're filled with doubt about your abilities it means you've actually improved to the point where you can really start to understand what makes good writing. It means you know where you wanna end up and goshdarn it you're gonna get there.

2. Fear of rejection and/or failure

Yeah, us too. It fuckin sucks. BUT. Not all rejections are equal. And rejection is a necessary part of the process. Sometimes it takes a rejection to realise that a story isn't ready. Sometimes a rejection is entirely subjective and has ZERO reflection on the quality of your work. But shying away from the very idea of possibly maybe hypothetically getting rejected is only going to hold you back from even trying. And knowing why you got rejected and how to learn from it is one of the most valuable writing skills.

3. Not enough planning / too much planning

Leaping into a new story with nothing but a glimmer of an idea is exciting as heck (and can sometimes be a great way to begin) but at some point you're gonna need some sort of outline or plan to keep you on track. HOWEVER. Planning your story to within an inch of its life can also sometimes be a hindrance - leaving you stuck in the hypothetical stage of the process where your story doesn't quite exist yet (and therefore avoiding the prospect of it sucking). The sweet spot is in the middle. Having just enough of a plan to know where tf you're going, but enough freedom and flexibility to let the story lead the way...

4. Your WIP just isn't working

Sometimes things just fall flat. Sometimes you work on the same story for yeeeeears and then it just kinda... dies. Sometimes you have the best plans (see above) and the best intentions and things still don't work out. Sometimes it's just time to move on. And sometimes it's not! Sometimes a story can be revived, fixed or changed. Sometimes you just need time. Sometimes YOU'RE the one that's changed and this isn't the story you need to be writing right now. Many variables. 5. You keep deprioritising it

Ah the irony of writing being the thing you love/want to do most of all AND YET the thing you procrastinate over and avoid and shove to the very bottom of your to-do list all the freakin' time. Maybe it's the comodification of art destroying our freedom to create without pressure. Maybe it's late capitalism sucking up all our available time and energy. Maybe it's a lack of self-belief subconsciously telling us our 'little hobby' doesn't really matter. Maybe it's maybelline. Whatever it is, you have the power to reclaim and revalue your writing. To say, "I'm a fucking writer, goddamnit!" and mean it. To ringfence your creative time so nothing and nobody gets to interrupt it. To do that thing you love.

6. Shiny Thing Syndrome

You know that feeling when you're just getting stuck into a writing project and then — SQUIRREL! — you get distracted by another, better, more shiny writing project? Or maybe you're deep in the editing phase and your current WIP just isn't feeling very shiny at all and pretty much ANYTHING seems more exciting? Or you simply can't decide which of the many squirrelly writing ideas to actually start? You, fine writerperson, may be suffering from Shiny Thing Syndrome (STS). But fear not! There are a few ways to combat it, depending on the cause, and most of them involve embracing the squirrel-brain and injecting a bit of fun into your writing, like so:

7. Perfectionism/self-sabotage

Look. Writing is scary as shit. What if someone READS it? What if they don't like it? What if they see into your soul and gain a deeper understanding of you through your words? Writing your truth, being vulnerable, smearing your heart juice all over the page? No thank you. But also, that's where the good shit is, so actually yes please. Just make sure you smear responsibly. And rest assured, even the most 'successful' and experienced writers ALSO feel like this sometimes, so you're in good company. It's just part of the art, bruh.

8. The dreaded blank page

Oh godddd the blank page. It should be an exciting palimseset of possibility but is somehow also the most terrifying thing known to humankind. You wanna write something but where to start? HOW to start? You type that first line and immediately delete it. You watch the cursor blinking at you—taunting you—until you just give up and shut your laptop again. It's probably tied up with a bunch of things we've already covered so far: perfectionism, imposter syndrome, fear of failure, maybe a lack of planning or faith in your story or whatever. But it doesn't have to be this way. A blank page IS exciting and full of possibility. We just have to get over ourselves and learn to embrace the unknown...

9. Not enough time/energy/motivation/gnuuuughh

Dude, same x 1000. But you don't have to get up at 5am, do hot yoga, drink a kale smoothie and write a thousand words before sunrise to be a Proper Writer. You don't even have to write every day. But what you can do is hack your writing brain and figure out when, where, how, and why you write most effectively. Then tweak your schedule, your habits, and your attitude to ensure you're making the most of your time. Productivity is a big ol' lie but finding the secret to getting in your own personal writing zone is actual MAGIC.

10. You're just fucken stuck

Got the writing morbs? In need of some literary sudafed? Stuck as a pig in a poke? Writing is a whole puzzle of a process—and to be honest that's what makes it so fun and exciting and addictive, because your writing brain is hardwired to both create AND solve the wordy puzzles within your story. Sometimes the answer is time. Sometimes it's a second opinion or a fresh eye. Sometimes a totally different approach or just a hefty kick up the bum. But whatever the problem, there IS a solution. You just gotta keep going and trust that you'll find it...

First of all, I feel that this is a distant crush. It feels as if you both just see each other in determined circumstances that are surrounded by an intellectual status…so your crush could be a co-worker, someone you hold debates with, maybe he’s in another department/class from yours… You could even just see each other in reunions or meetings… and this affects the way your crush sees you.

They think you are someone with a sharp and direct intellect, not scared of confrontation. You are focused on your ideas and taking them into term, witty-minded. Focused energy, someone that would defend their ideas to the death but that’s also able to work in cooperation to carry a project forward. So, you could be a really good worker/student.

One thing that stand here, it’s a confrontation, not directly towards them but they see you as someone really different from them. You may show new perspectives, new ideas and new energies. Intuitively, they have an interest in these new ideas and proposals you may do to other, but in their presence. Even if your ideas do not coincide, they must enjoy this new fresh air that you bring. You keep them on their toes and they like that.

Somehow, they are also able to see, in your interactions with others a more candid you. A bit childish, happier, creative…They see you as good person even if you are a bit stubborn. They are still able to see a sweeter energy, emotionally satisfied. Stability, a matured, even if young, woman.

I do not see a romantic liking but an interested for your ideas and progress.

Pile 2, I gasped when I saw the cards. It was so amazing to see this.

Am I Not Smart Enough For You? (Fluff)

2012!Donatello x reader

A/N: Had to do 2012 Donnie, because it feels like a long time ago since I last did one for him💜

Warnings: None💜

In the heart of the bustling sewers beneath New York City, Donatello was deeply engrossed in his latest project. The soft glow of computer screens illuminated his determined features as he meticulously tinkered away, his mind swimming with circuits and algorithms, moving back and forth between his monitor and the large machine that stood proudly in the middle of his lab, slowly growing larger with each passing day.

Donnie was fully caught up in his work, his tongue poking out the side of his mouth, as he watched his fingers move with concentration, that he did not see you enter the lab.

You stood at the entrance of Donnie's lab, a worried expression furrowing your brow as you watched him work. Long had there been a worrisome topic, that you had wanted to turn over with your turtle boyfriend, knowing it was best to bring it up so you could talk about it, instead of staying silent, letting the problem grow until there was no way to fix it. You admired Donnie’s brilliance, and his intellect that seemed to know no bounds, but sometimes, it left you feeling inadequate. Doubts gnawed at the corners of your mind, whispering cruel thoughts about your own intelligence compared to his. In some ways, you felt horrible for even thinking that Donnie would think less of you, due to lesser intellect, but if you were a genius like him, you would probably feel alienated, especially when your own partner did not know what you were talking about, and simply unable to understand. You loved listening to Donnie’s drawn out explanation, even if you didn’t understand a word. But it was the way his eyes would light up, and how his body would move with sudden energy, and a bright smile on his face. It made it all worth it, even if you were too dim to follow along.

With a heavy sigh, you finally spoke up, your voice hesitant yet tinged with concern, as you slowly stepped into the lab. "Hey, Donnie?"

Donnie glanced up from his work, his eyes softening as they met yours, along with a smile, obviously happy to see your unannounced visit to the lair. "Hey, (Y/N). What’s you doing down here? Did you text? I didn’t see your message".

You hesitated, fidgeting with the hem of your shirt nervously. That caused Donnie to halt in his movements, his eyes focusing on your hands. It was obvious to him that you weren’t just down here to say hello.

"I... I've been thinking”. That sounded like the start of a sentence, that Donnie only could fear the ending of. His heart increased in speed, and his mind raced, praying that you weren’t about to say the thing that would tear his world apart. “Do you ever... worry that I'm not smart enough for you?"

Your question was almost a relief for Donnie, who had feared something way worse. He blinked at you for a moment, before he finally realized what you were asking about. Donnie's expression softened with understanding as he set aside his tools, his attention fully on you now, his arms reaching out for you, asking you to come closer. "Oh, (Y/N), no. Never for a second. You're incredibly smart in your own way".

You blinked, surprised by his response. "But... but you're a genius, Donnie. And I'm just... me. Sometimes it feels like I can't keep up with you, like I'm always a step behind whenever you talk about your projects".

Donnie reached out, gently taking your hand in his own, his fingers gliding over your soft skin in soothing and comforting motions. "Being intelligent isn't just about knowing facts and figures, (Y/N). It's about understanding, creativity, and so much more. And in those areas, you shine brightly. I mean, look at your art! Your drawings, your paintings. Even Mikey is jealous of those".

You swallowed back the lump forming in your throat, touched by his words. You looked down on your hands in his strong three fingers once, blinking away a few tears. "But what if I mess up? What if I'm not enough for you?"

"Don't you see?" Donnie's voice was earnest, his gaze unwavering. "You are more than enough. You bring a perspective to the table that I could never have on my own. You challenge me, inspire me, and make me see things in a different light. That's what makes our relationship special. And I love you. That is more than enough for me".

Tears welled up in your eyes, a mix of relief and gratitude flooding through you. "Thank you, Donnie. I needed to hear that".

He smiled warmly, pulling you into a gentle embrace. "Anytime, (Y/N). I'm here for you, always".

And as you leaned into his embrace, the doubts that once plagued your mind began to fade away, replaced by a newfound sense of confidence in the love you shared with the brilliant turtle who held your heart. In the heart of the genius, there was always room for love, understanding, and acceptance. And together, you knew you could weather any storm that came your way.

“I love you, Donnie”, you said, your face buried against his shoulder, feeling warm and comfortable in his arms.

You felt his chest vibrate with a small chuckle, before he pressed his lips to the side of your head, kissing the side of your temple. “I love you too, (Y/N)”. He pulled from the hug, before using his foot to reach out for another chair, letting it roll over next to him. “But now that you’re here, do you want to help me? I really need your thoughts on something”.

You smiled at Donnie, happy that his statement about your perspective in things wasn't just something he said to make you feel better, but something he actually meant. And so you took a seat next to him, smiling brightly as he showed you what he had worked on.

Yae can't help but laugh upon reading S/O's stories, quickly realizing who the protagonist resembles.

With a grin she leans onto the table S/O is currently writing on.

(Yae) "Well, it looks like you were certainly inspired by a certain someone. Do you really think that I'm that mischevious?"

(S/O) "Oh, I don't think it. I know it. The real question is if anyone else has realized it yet."

(Yae) "Hm, well your protagonist is already a woman, but not a kitsune. Perhaps we should add in that detail?"

She absolutely loves her own characterization, coy, mysterious, intimidating, it was anything but boring.

And that's all she really asked for.

Well, that and some mora for S/O using her likeness.

(Yae) "If you want to continue using me in your stories, I want a little bit of the share."

(S/O) "Yae, you already publish my books-"

(Yae) "Mhm, but I don't recall you ever asking permission to have me as your main lead. Therefore, I want some compensation."

(S/O) "Will Fried Tofu work?"

(Yae) "...Perhaps.

Lisa has quite the amount of time to read books in the library, and it isn't long until S/O has her proofread some of their works.

She knows they sell well, and figures she might as well give her two cents on the matter.

Before realizing their protagonists sounds very familiar.

(Lisa) "Brown haired, green eyes, very flirty...How creative, S/O!"

(S/O) "They say write what you know, right? So, I figured I might as well make the main lead the most interesting woman I know."

(Lisa) "I'd normally agree, but she also seems to be very lazy. Are you trying to imply something?"

Lisa asks with a slight grin. Though her tone is teasing, S/O knows damn well to answer correctly.

(S/O) "Creative liberties, my love. It only means something if you think it does!"

(Lisa) "Hm, a reasonable answer. Any other traits about them I should be aware of before I continue?"

(S/O) "They're very smart. That one is based off you."

(Lisa) "Good answer."

Lisa finds it amusing to see how S/O views her on a daily basis put to paper.

Navia doesn't take too much time to read books with how busy she is, but she makes an exception if her S/O is the author!

It takes her a good chunk of the book before realizing that the protagonist was kind of familiar...

(Navia) "S/O, the girl in this story is very reminiscent to the stories I told you about me."

(S/O) "Hm? I have no idea what you're talking about!"

Navia crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow alongside giving them a smile.

(Navia) "Down to the gun umbrella? Why did you not tell me sooner that I am your main star?!"

(S/O) "I wanted it to be a surprise, was it?"

(Navia) "Hah, I'd say so. But she's really ditzy. Do you see me that way too?"

Suddenly, S/O was silent.

(S/O) "You just have a lot of energy is all, I wouldn't really say ditzy."

Navia began pouting.

(Navia) "I am not like her at all, I don't make decisions out of the blue like that!"

(S/O) "..."

(Navia) "...Okay, not ALL the time!"

Can't have a Yuzu POV without a Karin POV lol~

Karin makes it back before curfew with fifteen minutes to spare. Their brother had extended hers and Yuzu's curfew to 10pm since they'd hit their double-digits, and she's always been mindful to never break it. Yuzu isn't usually one to stay out late, but Karin likes her freedom to wander around without supervision enough that she isn't going to risk a grounding just because she couldn't be bothered to check the time. Besides, she knows kids her age don't get half as much trust or leeway from their guardians, so Karin isn't going to disappoint Ichigo's expectations by not following the few rules he'd set for them.

Not to mention she has exactly zero faith in her own ability - or honestly anyone else's - to slip under her brother's radar anyway. Only an idiot would think they could, and Kurosaki Karin wasn't raised a fool. Sneaking in late isn't even worth considering.

So she's back by 9:45 sharp, and she unlocks the apartment door to reveal a scene in the sitting room that's not entirely unfamiliar ever since dinner last Tuesday.

"Shoes," is Ichigo's greeting, and Karin immediately rallies.

"I rinsed them!" She insists defensively. "Thoroughly!"

She had. Karasu River, specifically that spot where their mother had died so everyone's avoided it ever since like they might get cursed if they stray too close, is a great place to get rid of evidence.

"And now you're thoroughly tracking water through the door," Ichigo points out dryly, which, oh yeah, she is, whoops.

Karin makes a vaguely sheepish face before quickly toeing out of her sneakers and leaving them outside to dry instead. Just her luck that Yuzu dropped a vial of her newest poison yesterday and burned a hole straight through the entryway doormat, and they haven't had a chance to replace it yet.

She shuts the door, drops her duffel bag against one wall, and ambles over to her brother for a hug and a cup of tea from the fresh pot on the kotatsu. Or rather, Ichigo goes about pouring her one while she slumps into his side with a content, if tired, sigh.

Ichi-nii has never really been one for hugs, even when she and Yuzu had been smaller, and that's no different now. Occasionally, on a birthday or new year or when - very rarely - something had made them cry, he'd dole one out to each of them, stiff and a little awkward, but genuine in a way Karin knows he'd had to learn just for them, and that alone had made it precious. Besides, he's never refused their hugs when they take the initiative to go in for one, and Karin knows full well that anyone else would be thrown across the room or tossed out a window, Mizuiro included, so that's just as good even if Ichigo doesn't often return them.

She leans against him now, and he endures it stoically, handing her tea and also casting a surreptitious eye over her for any signs of injury. There are none of course— Karin's been learning how to protect herself ever since her brother had become the undisputed head of the household, even if Isshin still remains determinedly blind to anything related to his son to this day. And on top of that, Ichigo's long since ensured their safety from most lesser predators in this town, so it's not as if they have anything to worry about.

Of course, there are still morons who slip through Ichigo's iron-fisted oversight - or rather, are allowed to slip through - either because they're new to Karakura or they're lured in from a neighbouring town, all of them deemed harmless enough prey for Karin and Yuzu to play with. They make for wonderful test subjects for Yuzu when she's getting creative again, and very convenient outlets for Karin whenever soccer and karate aren't enough to siphon off her excess energy. Unlike Yuzu, Karin really isn't made to sit still or stay indoors all day.

She blinks when Ichigo jostles her out of her thoughts with a nudge and a succinct reminder, "Greet."

Karin's pretty sure there's some kind of What Manners And Social Norms To Teach Your Kids So They Can Fit Into Society self-help book squirrelled away in Ichi-nii's room somewhere. Possibly even a series. Of course, her brother certainly doesn’t follow his own lessons on conduct, but this is one of those things that Ichigo has always implicitly expressed his preference for her and Yuzu to ‘do as I say, not as I do'.

So Karin can only swallow a forbearing grumble along with her tea before nodding curtly across the table, "Good evening, Hirako-san, Urahara-san."

Ichigo's already turned back to some papers in front of him, because bright side— her brother's number of fucks to give begins and ends with the most perfunctory of civilities, so at least Karin doesn't have to waste time on small talk. Yuzu, her crazier half, is the only one of them who actually enjoys that stuff. Karin sometimes can't believe they're related.

"Brat," is Hirako's response, and his voice says amusement but his eyes say caution. Well, amused caution, but Hirako seems to find almost everything a little funny, and it's not even some weird bravado because his reiatsu manifestation is constantly a glittering field of yellow-gold-blue that takes the form of a sunny beach. Usually.

On the other hand— "Good evening, Kurosaki-san," Urahara returns, perfectly polite, with a perfectly pleasant if distracted smile, perfectly suited for someone who's genuinely glad to see an acquaintance's sister home safe. Except his reiatsu manifestation is a fucking ocean of blood, deep and dark and completely still on the surface no matter what he says or does. The only times Karin's seen even just a ripple in it is when Ichigo is talking. Her brother at least seems to have a knack for taking Urahara off-guard. Nobody else though, and the external mimicry of human reactions - no matter how expertly crafted - doesn't impress Karin one bit when she can see the disconnect between his insides and outsides.

So she snorts and goes back to ignoring them both. Since the dinner last week, these two have come back a couple more times, mostly meeting with Ichigo for something or other, probably a ghost-related problem, with Urahara also dropping off a stack of books and scrolls for Yuzu, and they seem like they'll be sticking around for a while. But until Ichigo tells her that they're going to be part of the family, like Mizuiro, Karin's not going to waste her time on getting to know them. Honestly, just by dint of being people, and worse, troublesome ones, means that they're more likely to get themselves offed at the business end of Ichigo's swords than anything else.

"Ichi-nii," She says instead. "I have another away game on Friday. Can you sign me out of class?"

Ichigo makes a noise in the affirmative. "Leave the form on the kitchen table before you go to bed. Is it in Naruki City again?"

"Yeah," Karin makes a face. "Back-to-back matches against Hiromasa. Dunno why they even bother when they're not serious about it anyway. And they're so annoying. We always kick their asses but they still look down on us cuz I'm a regular on the team. What, a girl can't play soccer now? But we literally run the score up into the double digits every time we play and all they say is that they were going easy on us cuz we've got girls on the team!"

She stops and takes a deep breath. She's actually complained about this before, multiple times, ever since she'd turned nine and been deemed old enough - and tall enough - to play in official matches. Or as official as elementary school club competitions can get anyway, and being able to play against other schools was awesome, but that didn't mean some of their opponents weren't dickheads. At least she'll finally enter middle school next year and probably won't ever bump into this particular group of idiots on the field again, but until then, she's no doubt going to complain some more.

And her brother always listens with the sort of patience he wouldn't extend to anyone else's whining, which Karin likes to take shameless advantage of, but on occasion, she also needs other ways to vent, and that was really what today had been all about after enduring last Friday's game.

Right on cue, Ichigo asks without looking up, "Haven't you gotten it out of your system yet?"

Karin huffs and takes another long drought of tea before speaking. "Kind of? But the guy didn't even put up a fight! He even pissed himself, Ichi-nii! Before I even did anything! It was gross!"

Ichigo finally lifts his head just to level a look at her. "You play with your food too much."

Karin stares indignantly back at him. "I do not!"

"How long have you had your eye on this latest one?"

Since like, three weeks ago, but that's not Karin's fault! "It's not my fault he took forever to take the bait. You'd think it would've been easier with the way he stalked my jogging route every single day just to see me in a tank top and shorts. Besides, I was saving him for after last Friday's match! You know, as a treat."

"And now it's already Tuesday," Ichigo mutters, but he also pats her on the head in a vaguely comforting if condescending manner, like he's consoling her for a botched job.

Karin splutters. "Ichi-nii!"

Ichigo smirks briefly. "You're still young. You'll get better. There's no rush."

Karin pouts into her tea. Eleven - literally twelve in less than half a month! - isn't that young. She's definitely not a kid anymore. Ichigo was already scaring the crap out of half the town before he'd even hit his pre-teens. He hadn't even killed anyone yet back then but people twice his size would pick fights with him that he'd always win, and then he had started killing once he'd turned thirteen, which had only cemented his reputation. Karin and Yuzu had had to beg forever to get their brother to teach them some of the tricks of his trade, because they hadn't wanted to wait years to follow in Ichigo's footsteps, and Ichigo had thankfully agreed that it made sense for them to learn how to protect themselves.

Still, no matter how many bodies she and Yuzu have put in the ground - not that many actually, they've got a long way to go to catch up to Ichigo - Karin isn't so oblivious that she doesn't know that a good portion of the respect they receive these days is entirely down to their brother's looming shadow behind them. But everyone needs a goal or two in life, and one day, she wants people to look at her and flinch because she's scary enough all on her own.

"Did you clean up properly tonight?" Ichigo adds like an afterthought.

Karin rolls her eyes. "I would've called you if there was a problem. You know I have like three different cleanup crews and Mizuiro-nii on speed-dial."

She can't wait until she's tall enough to bag and carry adult corpses around on her own. It's embarrassing to have to call someone every time she - okay, she admits it - makes a bit of a mess. It's not an issue when Ichigo is there, and she just has to help him, but when she's alone, it pays to have extra hands in the aftermath, even if it feels kind of like she still has to be babysat.

"Cleanup crews?" Hirako suddenly interjects from where he's just been watching them and listening like he's never heard a single conversation in his life and it's somehow super fascinating. What a weirdo. "Where'd ya get those from?"

Karin squints at him. Why does he want to know? Shinigami old as dirt still don't know how to do their own cleanup?

"They're just local yakuza," Ichigo actually takes the time to answer, which seems exceptionally tolerant of him. He must really like this guy for some reason. "Someone always has some free time to lend a hand, and they don't mind sharing their dump sites."

Hirako arches an eyebrow. "They don't?"

Ichigo smiles lazily at him. "Not anymore."

Hirako stares at him for a beat longer before bursting into raucous laughter, except the sunny beach from before is shifting, sliding, fucking shimmering, and then it's no longer a beach even if it's still a field of yellow-gold-blue. Instead, sand dunes rise where there'd only been wild grasses and rocky outcrops before, an endless desert as far as the eye can see, while the sea isn't a sea at all but something that could be an oasis or just a mirage, now gone hazy behind a wave of heat, and all of it so deceptive and deadly that you might wonder how you could've ever mistaken it for anything remotely harmless at all.

And it's even worse beside him, because Urahara is sitting there, blandly smiling away from behind his fan, and he doesn't look much of anything, but the ocean of blood he's literally submerged in stirs for a minute like there's something large and lethal swimming in its depths. Karin can't see what it is though because the blood is so thick that she can barely even make out Urahara's face, let alone anything else.

She rubs at her eyes. They're giving her a headache. This is why she prefers baseline humans over ghosts. Ghosts naturally have more reiryoku than average living beings, and Shinigami have even more than that - way more - so Karin in turn sees a whole lot more than just flashes of transparent images when she has to look at them. And it would be bad enough if it was just that, but these two lie so much. She doesn't know if it's a Shinigami thing or Ichigo just attracts complications, although now that she thinks about it, Mizuiro had given her headaches at first too. It'd just been easier with him because when he'd started coming over to hang out, he didn't have anywhere near as much reiryoku as these two guys, and now Karin's just used to him so it doesn't much matter anymore.

But these two. She doesn't even know what Hirako's deal is, because as far as she's aware, he hasn't really lied about anything so far. His insides match his outsides, so to speak. But his manifestation also seems to imply that everything he says is as much a truth as it is a lie, or that it could be a lie just as much as it could be a truth, depending on the situation. Which doesn't make any sense, at least not to her.

And don't even get her started on Urahara. That man oozes shady vibes so it's not exactly a shock that his manifestation reflects that. It's just... who the heck has an ocean of blood representing their soul? It's not the fact that it's blood that confuses her; it's that the blood is all there is. Even if you kill a person a day for a thousand years, it can't be all that you are, right? Even Ichigo doesn't have something like that. Although to be fair, his reiatsu manifestation can probably come across as pretty disturbing too. But Karin basically grew up with it so she can't really say for sure. It's certainly never frightened her. Not that Urahara frightens her either. It's just... weird.

Both of these old dudes are so weird. They're the first people she's come across whose manifestations are as complex as her brother's, but she doesn't really know what she can interpret from them because manifestations are different from emotions, and besides that, emotions are her sister's wheelhouse anyway. Yuzu is the one who can pick up what someone is feeling at any moment and extrapolate from there. Karin just gets a bunch of pointless shitty abstract art shoved at her eyeballs, and Shinigami are clearly the worst about it.

And just to make it really unfair, Yuzu says that emotions rarely get too loud for her. Karin doesn't know if it's because her sister had been born with natural talent when it comes to controlling her ability while Karin... hadn't, or if Karin's ability encompasses so much of one of the senses she depends on most in everyday life that it simply affects her more easily, but either way, if the manifestation is a powerful one, then the longer she focuses on it, the more it can overwhelm her.

It'd been almost unbearable at first when she was younger, all of eight years old and finally tapping into her portion of the family inheritance, except even a glimpse of another student with slightly above average reiryoku levels could wipe her out for hours. There'd been days where Ichigo had had to pull her out of school just so she wouldn't have to see anyone, living or dead, and she'd needed almost six months before she'd gotten a proper handle on it.

During last Tuesday's dinner, she actually couldn't even see what Hirako and Urahara's faces looked like until near the end of it. Their reiatsu is just that strong, which means their manifestations appear completely solid and three-dimensional, and that means that those manifestations are the only things Karin sees most of the time when she has to look at them.

She doesn't even get the benefit of practically being able to read minds like Yuzu can. Although Yuzu always says it's nothing like reading minds. Karin remains unconvinced. Emotions can reveal a lot, especially with context clues. Manifestations on the other hand almost never react to whatever is happening in real time. Unlike emotions, they're rarely a consequence of outside stimuli. Hirako's had changed earlier, from illusory beach to the real desert hidden underneath, but that's because his manifestation has always been like that, switching between the two when the mood - his mood - strikes. Even now, it's already settling back onto the beach scene. It may have been somewhat affected by what Ichigo had said - by cleanup crews??? - but it hadn't shown anything that hadn't already been there, part of Hirako's soul.

In contrast, Urahara's the real outlier. Karin doesn't even want to think about his manifestation, never mind look at it. It's not that his soul has become something new either - the whole person would have to be swapped out for that to happen - but she's never met anyone, ever, whose manifestation seems to hinge so absolutely upon one person before. She's not even sure if Urahara is aware of how... fixated he is. And she definitely doesn't know what it means. Ichigo doesn't even like the guy, and Urahara - inside or outside - doesn't seem particularly hung up on Ichigo. Except of course for the little matter of how his actual-facts immortal soul is doing the near-equivalent of placing itself in the palm of Ichigo's hand, which- what. Didn't they just meet like two seconds ago? If Karin actually believed in love at first sight, she'd say this might be what it would look like if it could manifest a physical form in the creepiest way possible, but she doesn't, so to her, Urahara's just insane.

Anyway, no one can blame her for not wanting anything to do with these crazies, especially when coupled with her ability. She wouldn't give it up if she could, because it's hers, and it makes her special like Yuzu, like Ichi-nii, makes her part of the family in a way no one else but the three of them can be, but at the same time, it's honestly a pretty useless skill. Manifestations are just... portraits of souls laid bare, which sounds all kinds of impressive and philosophical but is actually just a fancy way of describing a lifetime of squatting in an art museum with all its exits sealed.

It's terrible all around, made doubly so by their houseguests, and in Karin's opinion, the sooner Ichigo gets tired of them, the better.

The room has gone silent, and Karin only notices when the mostly empty tea mug is plucked from her hand. She's pinching the bridge of her nose with her other hand, eyes closed, but she opens them then to peer up at her brother.

"It's getting late," Ichigo says without much inflection in his voice, but he also pats her head again, and a flare of reiatsu floods her retinas like cold spring water on a hot day, washing away the pain. "Go to bed. Lights out by eleven."

Karin's more than happy to get out of there, away from Less Crazy 1 and More Crazy 2.

"Mm, I know," She gives her brother a quick hug before clambering to her feet. "'Night, Ichi-nii. I'll leave the form in the kitchen."

Ichigo grunts his acknowledgement, and Karin spares a moment to nod in the general direction of the Shinigami before wandering away, pausing only long enough to scoop up her bag before making her way up the hall and to the master bedroom. She and Yuzu still prefer sharing each other's space even though Yuzu is fastidiously possessive about her own belongings, so Ichigo had given them the biggest room when they'd moved in, while he and Mizuiro had split the single and study-turned-bedroom between them. The best perk of this is of course the fact that she and Yuzu get the en suite bathroom to themselves.

Her sister is still up, bopping to some music on her headphones while reading one of the scrolls Urahara had given her. She barely glances up when Karin comes in, although she wrinkles her nose plenty when it's clear Karin hasn't had time to do her laundry.

Karin rolls her eyes and shuts the door behind her. "I won't leave anything lying around, don't faint."

Yuzu glowers at her. "I don't faint!"

Karin snickers as she ducks into the bathroom. "Whatever you say, princess."

The thud of a pillow hitting the bathroom door is her reply. It's actually pretty hilarious when Karin thinks about it. Yuzu's manifestation is a sterile white room lined with perfectly preserved faceless corpses wall to wall, but give her a human body with its guts spilling out, and she immediately runs for the nearest toilet. She doesn't mind the scent of blood, but gods forbid any stains linger where they shouldn't.

Speaking of, Karin digs out the set of clothes she'd changed out of earlier, after her stalker had been dealt with. She hadn't even gotten them very dirty this time, and she'd made sure to scrub everything clean in the river anyway before coming home, but she'll still have to toss them into the washer again if she doesn't want Yuzu nagging her about it. In the meantime, she shoves it all into a vacuum seal bag and leaves it in the corner. She can haul them over to the laundry room next door in the morning with the rest of the past week's load.

Her knives are tucked inside the duffel as well. Those she'll take care of tonight. Ichi-nii went all the way to Nagasaki to commission them for her from a semi-retired blacksmith last year. They're elegant and gorgeous, and they cut like a dream, sheathed in black leather and embossed with a small stylized K on the flat of each blade, only noticeable when the metal runs red. It's the best gift Karin has ever received, and if they ever rust, or she ever loses them, she'll probably bawl her eyes out.

She hops into the shower next, sighing happily as she relaxes under the hot water. Despite the atrocious company Ichigo keeps these days, today's still been an overall good day. She'll be able to go back to her jogging in peace starting tomorrow, and the upcoming match on Friday doesn't seem quite as irritating now that she's had someone to stab a time or ten. Of course, after the match is another matter entirely. Maybe she can tag along to Yuzu's bake sale on Saturday. There's always a couple suckers at the outskirts of Karakura too stupid to live.

It's something to look forward to. For now though, she finishes her shower, brushes her teeth, and then gets to work cleaning her knives. She doesn't have all night.

"Was Onii-chan still talking to Hirako-san and Urahara-san?" Yuzu asks a little later as they get ready for bed because their brother always knows if they stay up too late.

"Yeah," Karin says around a yawn as she sets her alarm. "They might still be out there. Can't you sense them?"

Yuzu shakes her head, leaning over to switch off the lamp on her nightstand. "They're... quiet, I guess. Quieter. I have to be in the same room as them to pick up on their emotions."

Karin hums as she rolls herself into her blankets. "What do you think about them?"

"I don't, really," Yuzu admits easily, so they're agreed on that at least. "Although if Onii-chan gets rid of them, I hope he can wait until after Urahara-san has finished teaching me."

Karin snorts. Typical.

They're silent for a moment until Yuzu speaks up again. "I think they're trouble. I mean, Onii-chan did mention it during dinner last week. But I think it's a different kind of trouble than the usual stuff. Not like yakuza or random creeps or even the monsters. Worse, I think they're going to bring trouble."

Karin frowns into the dark. Well, it's not anything she hasn't thought of herself. It's another reason why she dislikes them. If they've got problems, why do they have to dump them at Ichigo's doorstep? What have they ever done for Ichi-nii?

Still, "Ichi-nii will be able to handle it," Karin says with certainty. She's never known her brother to fail at anything. There has never been a problem Ichigo couldn't solve. He'd even cowed their father without ever laying a single hand on him, and that was back when Isshin had still been stronger than Ichigo.

"Well, obviously," Yuzu says, equally confident. "Maybe Onii-chan will even have some fun with it. I know the monsters don't give him any kind of challenge anymore. And he likes Hirako-san and Urahara-san well enough."

"He likes Hirako," Karin corrects, shooting a flummoxed look at the bed across the room. "Urahara, he could take or leave. I'm surprised Ichi-nii lets him come here at all."

"Yes," Yuzu says with an audible smile. "Onii-chan lets him come here."

Karin blinks. ...Huh.

"So, what, is it like... a crush?" Karin grimaces. Ew. "They're old and weird!"

Yuzu giggles. "I don't think I'd go that far. Yet. Besides, they're also powerful and interesting and not afraid of him, and you know what Onii-chan's like."

"Yeah, but I also thought Ichi-nii doesn't get crushes," Karin grouches. "I can't believe it's both ways."

"Both ways?" Yuzu echoes, and Karin can almost hear her eyes go wide. "Urahara-san too?"

Karin squints up at the ceiling. "What, you didn't pick that up from him? I mean I don't think it's actually a crush. Like you said. But there's something there."

"Urahara-san is a bit strange about Onii-chan," Yuzu agrees thoughtfully. "But I'm not exactly sure what it is. His emotions are hard to read sometimes. Hirako-san is easier. And nicer."

Karin makes a disgruntled sound. 'Nice' isn't how she'd put it, considering Hirako's reiatsu manifestation.

"Hirako-san isn't that bad," Yuzu says, amused. "And they're both kind of like Onii-chan, so that might be good. It's good to have friends."

Karin shrugs and grabs an extra pillow to hug. "Whether they're like him or not, if they do something dumb, Ichi-nii will handle it all the same."

Yuzu laughs, bright and cheerful and just a little anticipatory, even if she does seem to have a better opinion of them than Karin does.

The conversation between them fades away. Karin shuts her eyes and lets her thoughts drift. She has morning practice tomorrow and can't be late, so old weird men calling on her brother are frankly the least of her priorities.

Trey finally gets another event SSR (man deserves it after like 4 Rs OTL) and not gonna lie, he kinda looks like my grandpa in that outfit... I really like the pattern on his rose print scarf and the flowerpiece though; you can also see the classic Heartslabyul solid sleeve-checkered sleeve combo. The parasol he's holding is nice too, it makes me think about him whimsically twirling it around as he walks through confetti.

This isn't one of my favorite looks for Ortho, but again I really appreciate how the designers and artists used their creativity to reinterpret the traditional NY garb into robotic parts! You can tell Ortho's "clothes" are more blocky and rigid than the others', yet it still retains the festive feel of the line. There seem to be cables and wires attached to the piece pinned to his chest, and, of course, three doggos at his waist to symbolize Cerberus~

Trey and Ortho being on the same banner... It feels like Ortho was dropped off for Trey to babysit, and Trey's the kind old grandpa who dotes on his grandkid.

advertising does let you know that something exists, but obviously the way it's traditionally applied goes way beyond that: in your daily life you're already gonna see people driving BMWs and drinking Coke and wearing Nike and yet still get reminders of the existence of these products every day for the rest of your life, why?

the folk explanation of advertising is that it conveys a message, typically explicit in the text and reinforced in the subtext, that the product in question will make you happy and successful and admired and sexy and people respond to that by buying the product, but that's obviously still too simplistic as we've all seen advertising for products we have no interest in and no intention of ever buying and most markets are competitive and there's more than one option and they all advertise, so what gives?

we can get more sophisticated by considering advertising as a dynamic equilibrium like an arms race or an ecosystem where Coke and Pepsi both need to keep advertising even though it isn't helping them gain an edge over the other simply because if they stopped they would fall behind, like trees wasting energy competing to be the tallest for sunlight when in an ideal world they would all agree to keep the forest canopy as low as possible.

or you can see advertising as akin to a potlatch, where the amount spent on it is a costly signal of the power and wealth of the brand, in itself demonstrating confidence and success more than anything that might be in the actual ad itself; corporations burning wealth to convince you that they are winners and you would be wise to affiliate with them.

or we can get a little introspective and consider that advertising isn't just to convince you to buy the product, it's to convince the people who do buy the product that you're convinced that they are cool people, such that they buy it not because advertising works on them (they're too cool to be won over!) but because they believe it works on you (you're impressionable!) except of course that all happens at the subconscious level as it sounds silly when spelled out explicitly.

other explanations for advertising (besides that it works) are that it makes the people running the brand feel good about themselves and is another form of compensation for them, either by boosting their image or giving them the excuse to dabble in the creative arts or liaise with actors or musicians or athletes they normally would have no reason to contact.

and similar analysis applies to all forms of design and marketing, not just obvious stuff like TV ads but logos, color schemes, custom corporate fonts, web design, everything orthogonal to a product that costs money and shapes the way that it is perceived in the market.

Tirol: A pod

Tirol in the water hunting with some Metkaiyna (earning their place in the tribe) and finds they can safely use their voice to communicate with the Tulkun. And it’s so similar to being with the pod again Tirol starts crying and the Tulkun and Metkaiyna comfort them.

It has been 6 months since the sully’s moved to the metkayina clan. And a full 4 months since everyone has been fully accepted and being one with the people. From the lifestyles, the diets, skills, culture, everything. Now it is becoming like a second home.

And for Tirol? It has become her heaven on Pandora. To thrive and explore the massive reefs, expand on her skills and be as free as her ancestors once were. Oh how it was magical for her. Too good to be real. Yet every day just as the sun peeks through the horizon, she makes the first dive of the day into the water. Letting the cold temperature awaken her, making her realize it was not a dream, it is all real. And it has become a ritual for her.

However, time to time does the emotions get the best of tirol. Seeing how the metkayina thrive and move as one with each other. To share, and to communicate, truly like a pod. And with the Tulkun, does she think back to the stories she grew up with. How very similar her people were to the tulkun.

For all tirol can do is make best of her new home. Thats it while thriving alongside the sullys. Any chore related to going in the water, Tirol will be the first to accept any chore. Gather shells? Only the best, collect seaweeds? The longest ones, the best fish? Only of high quality.

If it is not chores related, Tirol would just swim around absent mindedly. Or would even play some games with her friends. Anything to keep her mind busy.

Until the Tulkun came once more, there she had a breaking point.

Everyone ran to the reef, so many cheers and screams of happiness. Old friends meeting each other, new bonds being formed, and young ones being introduced. It was a reunion to always look forward to. Seeing family, friends again after so long.

So when Tirol swam around, seeing the tulkuns, she greets them in her vocal range that is similar to their vocals. Matching the same pitch and still learning new ways of communication. While Sign language is easy and better, she can't help but love speaking in the language of the tulkuns. It feels more like her language.Well, what is left of it.

“Child, I see you have gotten a lot better at speaking like us” Roa spoke to Tirol. And Tirol couldn't help but smile at the praise.

“Thank you Roa, how are you and your baby? Was the travel safe?” She asks, Roa nods and presents her child who has gotten a lot bigger since the last visit. Roa would never miss proudly showing her baby to anyone when given a chance.

“Yes, and my darling child has an abundance of energy, swimming long distances isn't enough to calm him. But I must not be negative, I am happy that he is thriving and energetic” Roa continues. And tirol nods in agreement.

After a sweet goodbye, Roa and her child leave to look for Ronal.

Seeing the sight gave Tirol a bittersweet feeling, quickly she swam to a more private area of the reef. Perhaps there is still some left in her that must be released.

Ronal swam in the darker areas of the reef, collecting a few corals and seaweed as she has a creative idea in mind, But as she swam more near a small cave, she noticed a familiar tail.

Being careful, she tugs at the end of the fin, a quick retreat reflex was made by tirol. Lifting her head up, Tirol made eye contact with Ronal. Ocean sounds were the only noise that was made for a few seconds.

“What are you doing down here? Why are you not at the shore with everyone?” Ronal asks. Examining Tirol’s expression, she seems sad, as if she lost something.

“Is everything alright?” She asks once more.

Tirol nods and gives half a smile, “Yes I am fine. I just needed a moment to my self that is all. I am fine, really. Thank you for your concern Tsahik” She signs back. Lifting herself from the cave, she comes out. “I will head back now” Tirol informs, saying their goodbyes, Ronal sees Tirol swim away, letting the ocean blur her sight.

“Would you like to join us on the hunt tirol? We could use your skills, the currents are a bit high today” Ao’nung invites tirol. She was in the middle of doing a chore in the village, keeping herself busy. Perhaps another dive in the water would help.

“Sure, I like to hunt,” Tirol replies. Meeting at an agreed time, she gets ready with her new spear and a bag sack to carry her kill.

Wasn't long that she had to wait, meeting ao’nung, tonowari and a few others who welcomed her, they all dived into the water. She noticed a small gathering of reef tick’s, perhaps after the hunt she will catch some. Their meat has a great taste when roasted just right. Even if she gets odd looks, if it is good, then it is good.

“The tulkun will be joining us in the hunt as well” Tonowari signs to everyone. And on cue, they arrived at the wider areas. Some of the warriors went with their spirit siblings, and whenever she sees warriors move to the tulkuns, it takes every fighting urge to follow. But where or who does she go? She has no spirit sibling. Or anyone really to call family.

That was the first start of a cracking.

“We did it brother!” Ao’nung cheers with his spirit brother, they sing in success. Tonowari and his spirit brother were counting the kills and deciding it was enough for everyone.

Tirol hates to admit it, but she envies the tulkun, she envies the metkayina. The burning envy that surges in her heart. A burn that won't fade away. To be constantly reminded that she won't have what they have. Even when she was fully welcomed by everyone, the feeling like an outsider won't leave.

Seeing everyone leave for the shores, she insisted on staying behind. If she leaves up to the shores, everyone will see the tears that are leaving her eyes.

“Here, there is plenty tuk” Tsireya smiles as she serves tuk some cooked fish to which tuk accepts happily. Everyone sat together with a fire in the center. The positive energy was at its peak. Well, almost.

“Has anyone seen tirol?” Kiri asks as she looks everywhere at the crowd. Ao’nung was quick to reply.

“She joined us on a hunt this afternoon. She was pretty good, getting the big ones all by herself. But when we were done, Tirol stayed. Didn't say much, just that she wanted time for herself”

Everyone looked at each other in worry. It is not that they didn't notice but, for days the sully kids noticed Tirol wasn't much her chirpy self. Looking at the ocean and had a long absent look into her eyes. More quiet and spending all more time at the sea than on land.

“Even my mother found her in a little cave at the deeper side of the reef. She thought it was odd but Tirol left after my mother found her” Tsireya informed.

Before more could be said, a sound was heard.

A loud, unholy sound was heard everywhere. There was no sense of direction of where it was coming from. Its loud shrieks of pain reached everyone's ears. Many covered them, to block out the loud cries.

But the cries were too strong, and soon all of those with a soft heart began to cry. Tuk, tsireya and kiri were the first to shed tears. Their wails harmonize with the loud cries. They couldn't stop no matter how hard they tried. The boys did their best, but rotxo too gave in and began to cry like never before.

Tonowari and Ronal were looking at the phenomena that was taking over their people. Many begged for it to stop. Many can't even form words. The cries of the unknown source was just too powerful.

Far beyond the shores, tonowari noticed the odd behavior of the tulkuns. Fins were swaying, many were jumping and landing roughly in the waters. Whatever it is, it is in the water disturbing every life around.

Those who havent shed tears yet joining tonowari and ronal into the waters, and stop the cries.

The tulkun were swimming in a spiral manner, circling something in the center. However, underwater, was just as bad as above. The tulkuns cried as though they lost someone. The deep pain and suffering, cries from the deepest parts of the heart.

“Sister! Sister, what is happening!?” Ronal asks as soon as she caught the fin of Roa, catching a ride. Roa’s eyes meter hers, red and glazed looking.

“The girl ronal! She is hurt! Her pain has become our pain, we can't stop!”

Trying to see who was hurt, Ronal took the risk of letting go of roa and swim to the center, And to her shock, it was Tirol. The girl was crying so loud, her voice reached high notes, it was unbelievable. But even more unbelievable is how a sweet girl had the power to bring others into tears as well.

“Tonowari! It is tirol! She is behind this!!” Ronal signs but Tonowari couldn't read it as the tulkuns were in the way. Seeing as how it won't do much, Ronal takes it upon herself, she swims further down to where the siren was at. But the closer she got, the louder the cries, and the more powerful her voice was.

So powerful, it was making Ronal weak, she can't see but she can feel the tears escape. Her heart weighed more than normal, her mind hazy. Using all her strength, she roughly grabs triol’s shoulders, making her turn to face ronal.

Opening her eyes, Tirol saw Ronal and gasped. Her cries stop, but for a moment. And that moment was vital, as the tulkuns stopped moving in a spiral manner. Many of the metkayina swam to their siblings, making sure they were ok.

Tirol seeing the consequences of her meltdown, she hung her head low. Shame filling her mind.

“To the shores, now” Ronal signs.

“Im so so sorry, I didn't mean to cause such havoc on everyone” Tirol apologies for the millionths time. Everyone gathered around her. Tsireya, ao’nung, rotxo and the sully kids found tirol and other members sitting near a rock bedding, Joining them to learn what happened.

The tulkun near by to see and hear for themselves.

Tirol kept her head low, unable to face everyone after what she did.

“Your voice…..it sounded as though you were in great pain. I never heard anything like that. It made everyone cry like no other” Tonowari says gently. The poor girl was shaken and didn't want to cause any more distress.

“My voice is powerful…but so are my emotions. It is a terrible combination to have. Yet, I let it control me” Tirol whispered.

Gently placing her arm over Tirol’s shoulder, Ronal had to ask, “What happened Tirol?”.

“You have been odd these past few days” Neteyam adds.

“You looked more sad, and quiet. I missed playing with you” Tuk sads with a sad face.

“Is there something going on that no one knows? You can tell us' ' Tsireya encourages.

Taking a deep sigh, Tirol confesses.

“I began to feel….sad, lonely, and not very much myself ever since the tulkun arrived. I saw how they are like. The tulkuns care for one another, move as one and become so unified that it makes me happy to see it. But also, when you all reunite with them, you are all one big family. A community, a pod”.

Blinking to hold back the tears, she continues.

“I never had that. From the stories I was told, my people, my ancestors were very much like the tulkun. Traveling together, living together, being close. Sharing a culture and traditions. To meet other clans and family. And I can't help but imagine…!!” Tirol chokes on her words, more tears escaping her eyes. Kiri gently rubbing her back, adding comfort to her despair.

“But imagine what that would have been like with my kind. What my life would have been like if there was another siren. To know I am the only siren on Pandora, it is lonely. There is no other like me. That I will never have my own pod. My own place to truly belong”

Tirol lifts her head up, facing the reef na’vi.

“I am forever grateful you all accepted me. Welcome to me and my friends. I have never been more in touch with the water than I have while living here. In these waters has been more like home. But it is never home. All I have left of my kind are stories that will one day be forgotten. And yet….how…how can I miss something that I never had…?”

Tirol’s words touched many. More tears were spilled, and many more now understand what she was going through.

“Oh tirol…we understand how you feel. Despite all that you have and more, your inner nature could never be fulfilled” Ronal says. She can't help but feel sorry for the young girl. No one has to go through this emotional torture.

“But you do belong here. The ocean is your home, your calling. You are one of us” Tonowari adds in.

Everyone says their heartfelt words to tirol. And each one helped her feel better. Wiping away her tears, she smiles. But the tulkuns have something else to say.

“You have everything? You knife, food, spear, extra clothing-”

“Yes Jake, I have everything” Tirol kindly interrupted her father figure. There were smiles all around her, many in happiness, and many in sadness. Like tuk.

“I will miss you so much! Don't forget me or any of us!” Tuk says as she hugs tirol tightly. Giggling a bit, she pats the childs head.

“I could never forget you, not you or anyone. And besides, I will come back. And with so many stories to tell” Tirol replies.

She hugged all of her friends as they cries, wishing her a good farewell.

“It is time,” Ronal announces.

Taking a deep breath, and one last look at her beloved ones, Tirol heads to the shallow waters.

“We will come back as always!” With a bright smile, she dives into the water, letting her legs become her beautiful tail.

The tulkun were waiting for her. Positioning herself in the middle of the herd, they all began to swim, heading out to the open sea. Full of unknown places, and more adventures.

Roa staying close to tirol she asks, “are you scared?”

With a confident smile, she answers “no, this is what I needed. This is what I longed for, no backing out now”.

Yes, it was a hard choice, but a good one. Leaving the clan, her friends, all that she knew to join the tulkuns and their long travels. This was it. What she longed for as come true, Tirol has found her pod.

Stop..stop it. People can't show you they mean well if you don't allow them to show up. Lastly for those who are in a relationship, someone is coming back into your life but I need you to ask yourself the important questions before you allow them back in again. Are they coming back into your life to see if you are still stupid for allowing them back in or is this a relationship that is healthy overall but has their issues and that person has worked on themselves to help better the relationship? Embrace the hard things. Embrace everything that feels uncomfortable. How are you going to grow as a person if you keep running away from things that are meant to help elevate you as a person? You may be the type of person who watches YouTube videos where the person gets up at 5am, the gym, journals, etc etc and you keep going through the cycle of restarting your life and quitting when you miss a day or two and then go well there is always next year...why next year pile lV, why not now. Now is the time. Not 2025. not 2026, but now. If you are wanting to lose weight or whatever it is imagine it being September you could have already lost 30lbs by then instead of finally getting the nerve to do it in September. Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock says it best "You have two options either day on or one day." "Everything you want to do is going to be hard you just have to choose your hard. Staying in your situation that is hard or achieving what you want that is going to be hard. Choose your hard" You can't sit in a victim mentality when you are your own villain.

Okay, Pile 1, your person is quite all over the place. I am immediately getting Gemini vibes from this pile as well as Virgo. Not even because of any cards that came out. Just the energy I am picking up. So either of those signs could be their Sun, Moon, Rising, if that's confirmation. I say that because their mental energy is incredibly overactive. A smart cookie but the cookie is crumbling! They like to see themselves as tough cookies, too. (Sorry if this is making you hungry lol. Not the intention) They don't like that they are suffering in the way they are but they're also struggling to overcome it.

Basically, they are overthinking the hell out of this situation because they want to get it right. They don't want to "mess it up". Yes, major perfectionist streak. It's hard for them to realize that they are imperfectly perfect just as they are and don't need to try so hard to win your heart. I don't think this is someone who you're actually with. Most of you, anyway. If this is your partner, they've been in the doghouse for a minute. Regardless of the relationship status, you two have had some real ups and downs. Your person is still having an extremely hard time accepting their past mistakes here. Not in the sense of not taking accountability or anything. No, the total opposite. They are taking WAY too much accountability. It's hard for them to recognize that they don't have to crucify themselves for their flaws. Instead of using mistakes as opportunities for learning, they usually see them as reasons to beat themselves up.

The thing is that they're not telling you any of this. That's why I feel like this isn't a committed relationship, for most of you. Lol but in this case, they can actually disappear from your radar. You two probably aren't talking much. When you do, it's likely very dry or kind of awkward on their end. They actually imagine themselves having the nerve to finally tell you how they feel about you (because I don't think they have yet), what they've been going through, how much they want to learn and grow and be better. All of it. They visualize making some grand confession of love and commitment but when they actually text you or reach out, all they can say is "Hey, what's up?"

I get the sense that you also know what's going on but also know there's not much else you can do. The ball is in their court! Essentially, they are very torn between this intense desire to be with you and build a happy life with you and an equally intense desire to hide in their little hole and be tormented by their fears and insecurities and negative thoughts. For some of you, this person may be a writer. Maybe they are making some heavy journal entries or channeling their feelings into creative writing. Not that you'd actually get to read it though (at least not now). On your end, you are left with a choice. You may want to wait on this person to come forward, especially if you feel a strong spiritual tie to them, or you may be exploring other options. Either way, I would advise you to detach from expectations of when this person will open up. The truth is they're still not ready to and need to improve their mental health. That doesn't negate their feelings for you, which are very genuine and strong. But it does mean that you can't exactly expect this all to turn around overnight.

I keep hearing Numb by Linkin Park. There may be messages in that song pertaining to your person. I do think they probably come from a very toxic background and that song symbolizes how they are working out the connection between their mean inner voice and any abuse/mistreatment they suffered at the hands of others. Wow, Pile 2. Okay, I have to laugh but it's not at your expense. The energy here is just kind of wild. This isn't necessarily just one person. It could be but it's very possible that it's more than one person. For many of you, this is symbolizing a running theme in your life. And the message is quite specific. You are a baddie, first of all. Regardless of your gender! Most of you, I feel, are more on the feminine side. But, you are all very desirable and alluring (yes, you are, take the damn compliment lol). You might have Scorpio as one of your personal placements. And you've got at least one person, if not more, wanting you really badly even though they think they shouldn't.

It's possible you are involved in a love triangle of sorts with someone taken. If so, this is a no judgment zone! But, I get the feeling that a lot of you are just minding your own business and being desired and pursued by these people anyway. It might be shocking to you or a little horrifying, something you don't really want. The person(s) in question could be just a friend or someone who you are not looking or expecting to get involved with. Meanwhile, they're kind of going crazy over you. Well, not kind of. Very.

The signs I am picking up are Aquarius and Cancer (again, they just popped in my head, not based on the cards here, which is funny because I don't usually do it that way). So, the person could have their Sun, Moon, Rising in either of those signs. Also, Virgo energy. So, again, a Virgo Sun, Moon or Rising. This person definitely could be married or in a serious commitment. The thing is that, even though they really want you, they also feel that it's wrong. They are enduring a real moral battle and dilemma here. "Battle of the flesh" is what just came to mind lol. So, this could be someone who's Christian or very religious. Maybe you go to the same church? That might be a little awkward. Or maybe it's just their religious path that makes this so difficult (though I must say that non-religious people also believe infidelity or cheating is wrong).

This person - I hesitate to say "your person" because it feels a bit one-sided for many of you - has really really been dwelling on this. I think they get very afraid of what people may think if they were to be "exposed". There might be a very opinionated mother figure, in particular, whose potential disapproval they really fear. The image I'm getting is very specific. Almost like they imagine themselves being with you physically and then they think of Mommy judging them and it kills the mood. It's giving Norman Bates a bit. Not that your person's a psycho but that their mother figure is very dominant and sometimes harsh in ways that may inhibit them or frustrate them. I just visualized that exact scene from Bates Motel, a masterpiece of a series that you should check out, btw (if you can handle darker themes).

But, Mommy issues aside, they are VERY sexually attracted to you. Part of the reason why is that the bedroom at home may be very dry. If this person is with someone else, the spark may be long gone. The sex non-existent. But, instead of seeing that as a reason for counseling or, you know, a separation or something, they are using their passion for you as an escape from this dissatisfaction. This may be TMI to you but they masturbate to you a lot. Like, all the time. It's like their sexual desire for you keeps them going. But, to be honest, I'm not getting the sense that this runs that deeply. It could, for some of you. The dominant impression I am getting, though, is someone who probably cares about you a lot in another sense - as a friend or something - but who also can't help but notice how hot you are. Their sexual draw to you, though, is motivated by other feelings that I think have very little to do with you.

That's a bit of a warning from Spirit, actually, if you are pinning any romantic hopes on this person. This could be a case of wild passion over deeper feeling. And I think even they realize that. They often berate themselves for these "sinful" thoughts (their word, not mine) but also can't help it. Ultimately, this is leading to a huge transformation within them, though. They are finally recognizing how dissatisfied they have been in their lives, in their relationship, if that resonates. It's like they can't fool themselves anymore and pretend like everything is peachy keen. But, this kind of introspection can be a very long and painful process. They may very well end up getting a divorce or making some big change in their life. My advice? If you are waiting for them to do that, don't. This honestly feels like a very messy situation and I feel called to tell you to have sensible expectations. Their feelings for you could do a 180 if and when they have you and you stop being "forbidden fruit". You may also be mirroring this feeling of wanting them but believing it's wrong. Ultimately, only you can make your life choices. Just know that if something truly doesn't feel right in your heart, it's because it's not. But, if you have no plans on entertaining this, just keep doing you, king or queen.

Pile 3, I definitely get the feeling that this is a separation of some sorts. If you are already happily with this person, this isn't for you. I think you haven't talked to this person in a while. They are most definitely someone you have history with, too. And I am getting a sense of many, many years of history with them, possibly going back to college or even high school (which could be any length of time, depending on your age). Whatever the case, y'all go way back. But, because of what happened here, this individual is kind of just left with their memories of you at the moment.

It's a really bittersweet feeling. I think they get sad when they think about you, at times, because they really miss you. So, they make up for that by getting lost in all this nostalgia. They may look at really old pictures or videos of you two on their social media a lot. Or they may just sit back and reminisce. You were a major person in their life and their existence with you was vivid enough to where they can easily transport themselves back to those days mentally. Lots of good times and laughter together. Many memories of partying or fun socializing in your younger days. I get the feeling that this person can almost get addicted to this nostalgia but it's also keeping them hopeful right now.

They are NOT letting you go. They don't believe it's over and it may not be (That is up to you, though) I feel you two grew apart but that there was also some sort of conflict here. For a lot of you, I feel like this was either an old friend who rejected you romantically and acted like they didn't have feelings for you (which was false) or a friend with benefits who wanted to stay casual and refused to commit and maybe picked other people over you. I don't think this was an official ex. Just a frustrating situation that caused you a fuck load of confusion and heartache. Are they into me? Are they not? Why they act like this then? Am I crazy??? The only way, after a long period of time, you could gain peace was by walking away. It's also likely that you've moved far away from them. In many ways, this situation has been in your rear view for a while. What other choice did you have but to move forward? But, by doing so, you inevitably left them devastated. Just the fact that they can't see you in person anymore is brutal.

They're now stuck on you but significantly after the fact. What I am sensing is that this person has "delayed emotions". They can take 2 to 3 business days to respond to even simple matters lol. So, something as complex as this took them a long time to fully process. And the more time went on, the more horrified and hurt they became at the fact that they let you go. For some reason, I am getting a specific message that they are heavy in Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn). Maybe those are the dominant Elements in their chart. They have the fierce, fun nature of Fire and the practicality and groundedness of Earth but they are very out of tune with their true feelings, which made it easy for them to reject you or pretend they didn't feel the connection too.

But they are getting better! They are seeing things in a MUCH different light than they did before. I am getting a specific message about you sharing some sort of spiritual insight or download with them. You might have talked to them about synchronicities around this connection or anything else metaphysical they needed to hear. Since that has not historically been their thing, you may have risked looking crazy or weird to them and maybe they kind of treated you like you were. But, they now see that you were right and are pretty much eating their words. I am definitely getting Aquarius vibes from this pile. That sign could be your Sun, Moon or Rising. That's an Aquarian dilemma (that I relate to very much as an Aquarius Rising myself). Being totally right and insightful but being treated like you're nuts or causing a problem by others until much later, when they realize you were spot on all along. It's alright. It's not easy being "ahead of time". But you're always vindicated!

Like now. I think this person really wants to make it up to you. They also see you very highly. They realize how happy you make them and how truly special you've always been to them; a major Light in their life. Of course, they could've realized this much sooner. But, love does not unfold in a linear way. It's your choice as far as what to do about this. I do feel called to say to not be close-minded about this situation. Maybe a part of you wants this person back too and wants to give it a try romantically. I think you're being advised to not cut them off entirely because of a preconceived notion of how you should respond to them. It may pay off to be open to the possibilities here, instead of staying stuck on their past behavior. People can surprise you!

I think they are feeling called toward becoming spiritual, too, because of the knowledge or insights you may have shared. They see you as a guiding light and you've made such a huge impact on them! One thing I have to mention is that there may be some tension between them and other people in your old friend group. Maybe a mutual friend or two doesn't like how they've treated you? I do think they haven't opened up to many people you both know about this situation. Maybe just a couple of people who are more so their friends because they may be too embarrassed otherwise. I also think if an old friend of yours got married recently or if there was some big social event with the old gang and you weren't there, it was super-hard for them. They were probably thinking of you the whole time and kept imagining you being there. That's a very particular message but take it if it resonates.

Ultimately, they are planning to get back in communication with you. They may have to get creative because maybe they don't have your number anymore or you blocked them or something. But, they are building themselves up to talk to you again. A little overthinking here but it doesn't feel torturous like Pile 1 (there may be messages for you in that pile if you felt called to it). Sometimes, they just sit and practice what they would say. They are kind of nervous and while they may be communicative, they also aren't the most verbal or expressive when it comes to serious situations like this. So temper your expectations, if you're open to them coming forward. Don't think they're going to write you a sonnet or something lol. But, they are trying and they want to take action. I am struck by the lack of Pentacles here, which usually suggests a lack of effort. But I don't see that in a bad way here. I think they're realizing that this situation could be much easier than they have made it out to be and they don't have to hold themselves back anymore. But, don't fixate on when they will come in. Just let go and allow what's meant to happen to happen.

I also want to say that if you want to reach out first, you're getting a green light from Spirit to do so. Maybe you kind of have to because they wouldn't have your contact info otherwise. But, if you do, this could be the encouragement or the sign they'd need to work on reconnecting with you.

As far as songs, I am getting Memories by David Guetta featuring Kid Cudi. So, yes, confirming what I've said before, including that you two probably have some wild, hilarious stories from the old days. I also think this person may not be having as much fun because they're too busy "adulting" and "grinding". So, thoughts of those carefree, crazy times with you are making them extra nostalgic. Also, New Person Same Old Mistakes by Tame Impala (though I have to shout out the cover version Same Ol Mistakes by the legend-the icon-the moment Rihanna). I DO think this person either has significantly changed or will by the time they come back in. I can feel you scoffing a bit in disbelief as they were so stuck in their ways for so long. But, again, leave room for them to surprise you. At the same time, use your own discernment. I just think they are having to face a lot of things about themselves and this situation has been the catalyst for that.
