— closer, clarisse la rue, pjo
Tumblr media
summary — in which, clarisse la rue can’t get enough of you, no matter how much you set her off. loosely based off of closer by RM. (media from princemick !)
pairings — clarisse la rue x black!fem!reader (daughter of poseidon)
authors note — first pjo fic.. kinda nervous 🫣 here’s my new years gift for the lack of posting 😭
Tumblr media
clarisse la rue.
whether you feared her, hated her, were intimidated by her, you knew her name if you resided in camp half-blood. she was the infamous daughter of ares, god of war. if she didn’t scare you by her demeanor alone, then she had that status and her electric spear to back it up.
and then there was you.
you were a poseidon kid, claimed early, then got thrown into the poseidon cabin to fend for yourself. it felt lonesome at times, but getting along with people like luke and annabeth helped. it was also nice having a cabin to yourself, free to decorate it however you liked!
people thought you were pretty chill, a little scary with how you come along with your powers and whatnot, but overall you were a fun person to be around.
except when you were around clarisse. you definitely got under her skin, whether she liked it or not (she was starting to).
you were quick with your comebacks whenever she had something to say, which got snickers from her siblings around her, you were good with a blade, good in war games, good in almost everything she was.
did it get to her? yes. but did she find it attractive? also yes.
you could hold your own and your friends if it came down to it, and as a daughter of ares, she found that attractive.
that was all up until percy jackson came.
did you know you had siblings somewhere? yes, but you didn’t expect one to actually make it here, much less alive, but here we were. you were a couple years older than percy you found out. his mom had died on his way here with grover, another friend of yours. all he really wanted to do was find out who his father was and why all this was happening.
you felt protective of him, and that meant feeling protective of him against clarisse.
he didn’t know but you could tell he was a son of poseidon, your brother. you felt inclined to guide him until he found his way around and got used to what his life was now.
flash forward to the day after he arrived. he was already gaining some popularity around camp because of his encounter with the minotaur. in the morning you met up with him and luke, telling him about how the day after was capture the flag day.
you were walking until a familiar brunette came into view, knocking into percy. you snapped your head towards her just as she pushed him into the dirt. “hey, clarisse, back up.” you stepped closer to her. she looked at you, and for a moment your heart skipped a beat.
when had she been so pretty?
you two ‘glared’ (admired) at eachother for a moment before she turned to percy. “so this is the kid who killed the minotaur?” you looked at percy and he locked eyes for a quick second before looking back at clarisse. he looked scared but used to it, like he’d been bullied all his life.
“you want attention around here, dummy? you better be ready for it when it comes.” she jumped at him to scare him, then left laughing, not before making eye contact with you once more.
“well, she seems nice.” percy commented. “don’t worry about her. she just has this image to keep up. she’ll leave you alone soon, i’m sure.” you told him.
did you know that? no, but you didn’t want him to have to deal with anything yet.
“why don’t people mess with you?” percy asked you and luke. “they know better. best swordsman in over a century and she can drown people if she wanted.” luke explained with a smirk.
Tumblr media
it was later in the day. the sun was still up, it was warm out, and the smell of the strawberry fields graced you. you were practing with your main weapon of choice. grunts rang in the air as you practiced on your dummy.
it was empty, which was just what you needed to blow off some steam. at least, it was empty until clarisse walked over. “you’re doing it wrong.” you didn’t face her, choosing to ignore her. you continued until a hand gripped your wrist.
“you ignoring me now?” just you ignoring her started her off wrong. she wanted you to pay attention to her. “do you need something?” you hissed at her. “i was talking to you. your forms off.” “mkay. thanks.” you went to go back to the dummy before she placed a hand on your waist to turn you back around. “you realize that could get you killed right?” she scolded. you stared at each other until she realized where her hand was and took it off like you were a hot pan burning her.
you mulled over the interaction; your waist felt tingly- you felt tingly. she was just so pretty and she was starting to make you nervous, but you had to do something.
“you willing to correct it then? since you feel like you need to comment on it.” you remarked.
this is what got her going.
you always having something quick to say, getting under her skin but in the right way.
she smirked, canines showing a little. it had your heart racing.
she went over to the dummy with a dagger that was on standby, and showed you a technique she used. “like that.” she moved to go behind you and gripped your waist again. “what are you doing?”
“relax, i’m moving you into a stance.” she told you.
was she half lying? well, sorta kinda. she was moving you, but she just wanted to be closer to you.
she adjusted your stance, then moved back and allowed you to practice. “just like that.” she told you.
“why are you helping me?” clarisse shrugged. “got bored.” “you sure you just didn’t wanna be near me?” you jokingly asked.
“maybe i did, maybe i didn’t.”
she did. she just wanted to be closer to you.

I don't think Greek Mythology retellings/adaptions/inspired/etc. are necessarily "evil"...but I DO think people REALLY need to understand that there's a huge difference between the actual mythology and certain media.
I feel like people have to basically do a "Fandom ___" to say the different versions. Like "PJO ___", "Hades game ___", "TSOA ___". For it to be understood that these depictions are DIFFERENT. I'm saying this as someone who grew up reading PJO and still has a soft spot for it. But as someone who really loves Greek Mythology as well, I sometimes get really SAD.
I'm going to use the comparison of Howl's Moving Castle with it's Book Vs. Movie. I enjoy both!!! But they are honestly very different. In the movie there is no "sister swap", Markle isn't a young teenager, Sophie doesn't throw weed killer at Howl, and many more moments. But I enjoy both because even though there are changes they still keep components that are ingrained into the characters!
In some Greek Myth retellings/adaptations/stories/etc., characters are...SO different from the source material. That's fine...Choose what you want with your story... But folks should know that the modern adaptations are NOT the source material!!!
It bothers me that a lot of these wonderful myths and stories are twisted up and seen so differently because of a modern version of them. You can have that character be "awful" or a certain way in your story. But I almost feel that as fans, it's not good to generalize them or see it as "This is the truth". People are hating the mythological figure when it's only in that interpretation they are like that.
In PJO, Ares is "Zeus' favorite", isn't a good dad, a misogynist, etc. The actual myths? One of his Epithets is LITERALLY "Feasted by Women", in the Iliad everybody basically bullies him with Zeus literally saying he hates him. He cries when he learns one of his sons is killed in the war. He literally kills someone about to rape his daughter. Ares isn't perfect but it makes me sad with how he's viewed and talked about when it's only in PJO he's like that. Same with Dionysus. Read the Bacchae, you'll love it.
In Lore Olympus, Apollo rapes Persephone (noticing the fact that modern takes on the myths add rapes where there never were hmmmmm) when he never did in any of the myths.
In TSOA, Thetis is cruel when in the Iliad, she is such a loving mother to Achilles. She grieved alongside her son over Patroclus. Also with Agamemnon. In Ipheginia at Aulis, Agamemnon is a MESS. He adored his children.
In Circe, Odysseus is viewed as a selfish man who ONLY hurts others and doesn't care about his family when that is LITERALLY his one consistent character trait. HE is actually the one who is the victim of rape. Circe was never raped.
Medusa is only a victim in Ovid's, a Roman man, works. Not in GREEK mythology. She was just a cool monster. Leave Perseus alone. Poseidon and Medusa actually had a consensual relationship in Greek Mythology!
These adaptations/retellings/inspired by/etc. whatever anybody wants to call them, are not the real myths! They may be similar in some ways but to just generalize them or hate the deity/mythological figure because of something they did in the new media feels fucked up!
You can enjoy these new stories. There's nothing wrong with that!!! But know they're not the real myths. Maybe even label it as "I hate ____'s version of ____". As that makes it clear what version you're talking about.

(Sorry if someone has done this before—)
Aru:
Daughter of Zeus
Everyone either idolizes her or thinks she is stupid
Really good at Capture the Flag
Like, scary good
Has been banned from singing at Campfire because she cannot sing to save her life
Lied about her mortal life a lot when she first got there but eventually stopped
Somehow bagged the leader of Aphrodite and everyone is shocked
Even she doesn’t know how she did it
Mini:
Daughter of Hades
Works at the infirmary
Everyone thinks she was blessed by Apollo because she’s so good at healing
She hasn’t, she’s just smart
Hated her powers until Aru said, “YOU ARE THE DAUGHTER OF THE GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD!”
Everyone wants her on their Capture the Flag team
Tired because she has to take care of all the Potatoes (who end up in the infirmary a lot)
Brynne:
Also a daughter of Zeus
She and Aru have the cabin spilt in half with duct tape
Aru’s powers involve lightning more while Brynne’s involve wind, like Thalia and Jason

Everyone loves when she gets punished because it means dinner will be good tonight
Beats everyone in training
Aiden:
Child of Aphrodite
Leader of Cabin 10
✨Charmspeak✨
Got Shadowfax from his dad, and a Hepheastus kid made it enchanted

Unanimously got voted lease singer of the campfire
Rudy:
Son of Apollo
In love with the scary daughter of Hades
Purposely gets hurt and gets sent to the infirmary so he can see Mini
Mini loves hates it
Always plays music at campfire
Annoys Aiden all the time

If the Mighty Nein went to Camp Half-Blood!
What’s this? My two favorite fandoms? Couldn’t be. Enjoy this brainchild; VM, BH, and EXU: Kymal characters to follow soon
Fjord
Cabin #3 - Poseidon
This one is the most obvious one. My man is a sailor who got his powers from a water god, there’s no one else he really could be.
I think that we keep his orphan status, and have a satyr be sent to sniff out potential demigods in orphanages, where he found little Fjord. He came to camp when he was fairly young, and lived there year-round starting at about nine years old. However, I don’t think he would have been claimed until three years later when he was twelve, despite obviously displaying water powers before that.
As for his powers, he inherited hydro and cryokinesis (manipulation of water and ice) as well as underwater breathing and extreme temperature resistance. He did not gain the ability to speak with equine animals, but he can communicate with sea life. His weapon and fighting style are similar to the show; he has a falchion.
At camp, he’s a pretty chill guy. People might originally be intimidated by his ‘Big Three’ status, but he’s actually pretty gentle, and does a lot of work with welcoming new campers and making them feel like they have a home and are safe, because that’s what older campers did for him when he first arrived.
Beau
Cabin #1 - Zeus
I struggled to place Beau into a cabin. She could be with the Ares kids, or the Athena kids just as easily. But I ended up deciding on Zeus, because I think that his kids are just as combative, and she has lightning gloves. Also, she has Slow Fall, which could be retrofitted to flight.
Beau definitely still got into a lot of trouble and fights with Thoreau, who would have been her step-dad. I think her tendency towards acting first, thinking later (as a teen) would have led her into a fight that she couldn’t win on her own: one with a monster. She was rescued not by a satyr, but by another demigod, probably Dairon (who I would put into Athena’s cabin btw). She was claimed immediately when she got to camp, because she inexplicably managed to survive on her own all the way to sixteen.
Her powers are controlling the winds/fight and electrokinesis. Her fighting style is still very much so martial arts, and her weapons are a gift from Zeus: twin electric brass knuckles that allow her the chance to stun and shock her enemies.
At camp, she and Fjord have a kind of unlikely friendship. Everyone is friends with Fjord, whereas most people are afraid of Beau. She’s the daughter of Zeus who can and will punch anyone who crosses her, and is kind of mean. But to those who are her friends, she is unrelentingly loyal and kind. Many younger campers tell whispered stories of the blur of cobalt blue who’s mere presence had scared off people who were bullying them.
Caleb
Cabin # 20 - Hecate
I considered his place being with Hephaestus due to his affinity for fire, but he doesn’t exactly fit that mold. And as a wizard, Hecate is also a very good fit. And hey - magic fire is also good.
Caleb’s parents died when he was very young, around seven, in an accidental house fire, and he was taken in by his rich great-uncle, Trent Ikithon, who was abusive in every way, and gas-lit him into believing that his parents deaths were his, Caleb’s, fault. Eventually, when he was thirteen, he ran away from Trent, and before getting to camp, met up with Veth. She knew that she was a demigod at that point, and essentially took him in, very Luke and Thalia. They were discovered accidentally by a satyr who took them to camp, and he’s been there ever since.
Like all children of Hecate, Caleb possesses mystiokinesis (the ability to manipulate the Mist). While he has a natural affinity for creating fire, usually amber colored, he has a great interest in using the Mist to change things into other things, and not simply through illusion. While turning people into animals is easy enough for many in Cabin #20, Caleb is known to change the properties of things with uncanny skill and ability. (Besides the rest of his magical abilities.)
At camp, Caleb is seen as a bit of an oddball. He’s chronically anxious and dislikes being in groups of people. He has a magical cat that is always with him, and he can look through the eyes of, and is for some reason friends with the loud and abrasive Beauregard. Even among his siblings, he is quiet, mysterious, and kind of quietly intimidating, and is constantly asking Chiron for a quest to take care of “the monster who raised me.”
Veth
Cabin #7 - Apollo
Veth was very tricky for me. My first instinct was to put her in Hermes, for her sneakiness and love of taking trinkets. I considered putting her in Dionysus due to that iconic never-ending flask. But in the end, I thought I would honor her more positive traits, and focus on her skill in archery.
Veth has the misfortune to have been on her own for a long time, and knew specifically that she had been kicked out because of her demigod heritage. Knowing that she had powers and could use them allowed her to survive on her own, and later with Caleb before the two were taken to camp.
Veth’s talents from Apollo came not in the form of musical prowess or healing, but in the bow. While most of her siblings favor a longbow, she is uniquely proficient with her hand crossbow. Her accuracy is so uncanny, that she has never been known to miss a shot. Her crossbow was simply found in the armory collecting dust before Veth found it and decided to make it hers.
At camp, Veth is both an extremely friendly, and highly avoided character, due to her propensity to take shiny things. Usually nothing valuable, but she is known to be able to take the button off of someone’s coat - while they’re wearing it. However, she is a good friend to all who do right by her, and is extremely close friends with the brooding and quiet Caleb.
Jester
Cabin #11 - Hermes
Oh, Jester, Jester Jester. Somehow, every option is viable, and yet none work besides this one. She already has a god to look to for inspiration in Artagan, which is how I finally settled on the trickster Hermes.
Jester absolutely still grew up the same way, and the Ruby of the Sea is the Sally Jackson of this AU, and Hermes is also a criminal, so really, Gentleman vibes all around. However, unlike Sally, Marion sent her to camp when it became dangerous for her not to be trained in her powers. She spends summers at camp and goes home for the rest of the year.
But what powers does she get? I settled on being able to turn herself invisible for the trickery aspect, as well as having a natural affinity towards forgery. Besides her invisibility, her mere presence can make other people stealthier by proxy.
At camp, she is extremely popular and loved by all.  She and Veth are known to run a detective agency of sorts at camp, and it’s unclear whether the two of them commit the crimes so that they have things to solve or not. Either way, she is always willing to lend an ear, or a hug, or this candy and pop that she stole from the nearest gas station before pranking someone else.
Mollymauk
Cabin #10 - Aphrodite
There’s something intrinsically Aphrodite about Mollymauk, just in the way that he holds himself. He sees himself as a canvas for beauty and art with all his tattoos, and adorns himself with baubles and jewelry.
Molly suffered a traumatic head injury when he was young that gave him complete anterograde amnesia for everything before the accident. It isn’t known who or where his biological family is, but he found a new home with a carnival that happened to be owned by a son of Dionysus named Gustav. Gustav recognized both him and Yasha as demigods, and after patching them up, took them to camp, so that they could have an actually life
Molly’s devil's tongue is reflected in the charmspeak that he inherited from his mother. Besides that, he also takes after her more fickle and vindictive side in the other abilities he gained. Unlike many of his siblings, he chooses to fight with swords, and he uses them to help channel these abilities. Molly’s blood allows him emotokinesis, or the manipulation of emotions. When shed, it allows him to project it outwards, and when contacted or consumed by a target, allows him to manipulate them specifically.
At camp, people are thankful that he isn’t malicious, because his abilities are truly scary to imagine in the wrong hands. He gets along well with the Dionysus kids and their revelry, and in general is fun loving and hates a dull moment. He and Jester often team up to raise the energy of the camp.
Caduceus
Cabin # 40 - Persephone
I waffled so hard between Hades and Demeter, death and plants, for this man before remembering how dumb I am and that the compromise was staring me in the face. The Queen of the Underworld and goddess of springtime: Persephone.
Cad’s upbringing was tricky to marry into this world’s setting. I think that he hasn’t known anywhere besides camp, and that Persephone specifically gave baby Caduceus to Chiron to figure out how to raise. Chiron contacted two of his former students. His parents were demigods themselves who had their own children, and happily adopted little Cad into their family with them. He eventually started staying at camp full time, but his whole family stays at camp during the summer.
Because his mother is the goddess of springtime, Caduceus is able to communicate with both plants and animals, and can grow plants and heal wounds. On the flip side, he is also able to raise skeletons like a child of Hades might. However, his springtime associated powers are stronger in the spring/summer and weaker in the fall/winter, and vice versa.
Caduceus is an extremely calming presence at camp. When one is exhausted from everything else that is happening, they can usually make their way to Cabin 40, nestled further into the woods than any other cabin, and have a cup of tea with him. He also is often found sitting and speaking with Hestia at her hearth, and of all of the demigods at camp, has the closest relationship with his godly parent. Persephone so rarely has demigod children that she definitely gives him a lot of attention.
Yasha
Cabin #5 - Ares
Wouldn’t it be fun to have sweet, gentle, Yasha be in Ares? People often wonder if he’s actually her dad until they see her filled with righteous fury and become practically unkillable in combat.
Yasha, was forced out of her home after the first monster attack when she was a child for “attracting demons.” Gustav found her all alone and kindly took her in. She and Molly became fast friends, and when Gustav realized their heritage, he took them to camp. She and Molly are very close, despite their polar opposite personalities,
As for her powers, when in combat, Yasha attains a nearly unmatchable spirit. Anyone who has ever attempted to defeat her in melee combat has walked away with fear in their eyes. This rage allows her to shrug off major wounds in the moment and keep fighting. The damage will catch up with her later of course, but she will keep fighting forever to protect her loved ones.
At camp, Yasha is pretty shy and closed off. She doesn’t get along particularly well with her cabin mates, and frequents the Demeter and Persephone cabins often to speak with them about flowers and enjoy the serenity. Many are afraid of her large sword and quiet and mysterious nature until they get to know her.
Essek
Cabin #6 - Athena
Of course I’m going to add in Essek. Literally, why wouldn’t I? Essek was surprisingly easy to place for me. He thinks that he’s the best choice for literally anything, loves knowledge and research, and hates anything illogical. For such a complex character, he is a textbook child of Athena
Essek was the child of a well-known senator, who in shame after having a magic baby show up on his doorstep, hid him away from the public eye as best as possible. Every time that Essek was ever noted by the public for questioning something that his parents supported in Congress, he caused a scandal for the family. Eventually, Essek began making deals for things his parents wouldn’t let him look into with their opponents in the next election, and in an attempt to keep Essek from losing his father’s senate seat, they shipped him away to camp, where he has remained ever since. (with the exception of when his father needs him to make some sort of appearance so people know he’s not dead).
As far as his abilities, I’m giving him straight up Matilda powers, because that much brain power, and he gets to move stuff around with his mind. Also, it fits into his graviturgy speciality from the show.
At camp, people don’t like Essek that much. They think he’s pretty aloof and stand-offish, but anyone who really knows him knows how much of a nerd he is.

An empty castle, filled with bells and whistles. Loyal and emotionless servants which cater to one's desires, and endless wealth which flows like a river. . .
The life of Greed is, although wanted by some, a lonely life. . .
Mammon, the Prince of Greed, is not only hated and outcasted by the rest of the Deadly Sins, but has difficulties connecting with others, especially with those under him. Sure, he had his workers like the Glam Sisters and Wally Wackford, but those relationships could only go so far. . .
It's obvious that Mammon wasn't keen on changing his ways, he was the Prince of Greed after all! So, what else is there to do?
Well, HB Fandom. . . I'd like to introduce you to. . .
👑Trinket👑 The daughter of Mammon
Tumblr media
Personality: Despite being raised by the Sin of Greed, many describe Trinket as the "watered down and more complex version of her father." Yes, she's, as expected, a very spoiled toddler who gets upset easily. But instead of using manipulation or sheer force, she uses persuasion and charm to get what she wants. Something else notable is her possessiveness, being extremely overprotective of the things and people she holds dear
Likes: She has an extensive love of collecting and hoarding. Whether it's instinct or not, collecting was always something that made her happy, especially with tiny objects. Stuffed animals and comfy things are also up there, whenever she's frightened or upset, she'll often hide and try to seek protection herself, and if she's not clinging to the nearest trusted adult, she used things like pillow forts for comfort. Although more of a weird fascination than an interest, she loves bubbles and puts lots of time and effort in the art of bubble blowing, as silly as that sounds. To a point where she was given a device that delivered that purpose, which we'll get to later. Finally, it'd be a new brainer to mention her love for clowns, since she lives with them, they're hard to ignore, and if her papa is a clown, then she must be one too!
Dislikes: How this developed is unknown, but Trinket has a deep hatred for birds. Doesn't matter what type, either big or small, dangerous or not, once she sees one, she'll go out of her way to chase it and scare it away (sorry Ars Goetias). Another thing she can't handle are large crowds, similar to her father, she doesn't take being within crowds very well, but is perfectly ok with being up on a stage, since it creates a clear border between her and the crowd. Lastly, she hates rude and disrespectful people, she can't stand the sight of her family or friends getting bullied, so anyone who messes with them, they'll face the consequences. . .
Headcanons & Abilities
Tumblr media
Her abilities:
☆ Eating inedible items without any affect (hot coals, soap pieces, etc.) Which allows her to power her special device: The Trumpet Gun
-Gifted to her by Wally Wackford, Trinket's Trumpet is the perfect device for a professional bubble blower. With just a push of the trigger, she's not only able to make millions of bubbles instantly, it also can create fire
☆ Even without her trumpet, Trinket can still breathe fire! On the downside, however, she doesn't have much control over the ability whenever she's not using her trumpet, so yes, there is some carnage. . .
☆ Despite her tiny legs, and being well, four, Trinket can walk surprisingly long distances without getting tired
☆ Something others find unnerving about Trinket is her extensive knowledge on bombs and explosives, considering Mammon's old performer (aka Fizzarolli) was an explosive survivor, having him replaced with basically a walking nuke is kinda weird. The good news is the bombs she creates are mostly harmless. Mostly. . .
Headcanons☆
☆ When Mammon first got Trinket, she almost immediately became another one of his brand faces. But unlike the twins, all the content surrounding her is very kid friendly, because kids are a lot harder to entertain than adults, therefore, more expensive to care for
☆ Despite being only a child, Trinket is never nervous when on stage and preforming in front of others. In fact, most of the time, she doesn't ever need to act or hide her emotions. She views performance as a form of play, so she acts like her regular self!
☆ Demons alike, regardless of age, can be instantly charmed by her cuteness! (Move over Fizzy, there's a new cutie patootie in town!) which is what she uses to get what she wants
☆ Reported by Mammon himself, Trinket is weirdly warmer to the touch compared to any other toddler. And it's not because of fur either, that's entirely her body heat
☆ Inside Trinket's room, there's actually a pillow fort beside her bed, called "Trinket's Tent." There, she likes to hide her treasures, a wooden case filled with the tiny things she collects. She considers her fort a place of safety, and only lets those she cares about inside (i.e: her father, the Glam Sisters, and Wally) So if you want a spot in that tent, you'll have to work for it
☆ Whereabouts of Trinket's mother and background are a complete mystery, according to the public, a good portion of hell barely knows she exists! But arriving roughly 6 months after Fizzarolli quit, led to conspiracy theories and rumors of where Trinket came from. But in Mammon's words, "She just kinda happened!"
☆ Another thing most impressive about her room is on one of the walls, labeled "My Friends and Family!" On the wall, is a art mural consisting of portraits of her, Mammon, both Glam sisters, and Wally. Each portrait done by the respected family members, as well as their signatures and painted handprints. Placing a drawing of yourself on this wall is the highest honor, according to Trinket, and can only be earned by gaining her trust
☆ And as expected, she doesn't like when others do things to the wall or take pictures of it without her consent, cause, in her words, "it's not done yet!"
☆When in public, Trinket is extremely easy to lose. She has an unhealthy habit of wandering off and not staying in one place, which leads the adults having to carry her most of the time as to not lose her
☆ Even without friends, Trinket still found ways of having fun, which involved running around, collecting various items. And now that she's does have friends, innocent little adventures turn into something else. . .
☆~Relationships~☆
Mammon: From an outsider looking in, you'd expect their relationship to be a toxic one, considering his old relationship with Fizzarolli was abusive as well. But in reality, that's not entirely true, where yes, Trinket does love her dad and Mammon loves the amount of revenue she makes, making their relationship somewhat one-sided, however, what people don't know is that these two are far more complicated than what they let on. Cause according to Mammon, Trinket is the only one he has in terms of relationships and thankfully, his past with Fizzarolli made him a tiny bit smarter. He learns to nurture and care for Trinket not just to have her stay longer, but to prove others wrong, that he can be a parent! With his status, Mammon's biggest concern is having Trinket taken away from him, so it's safe to say that he became pretty overprotective of his daughter. Overall, the two are slowly building a father-daughter bond, and you can bet that Mammon spoils Trinket rotten with all sorts of luxuries!
The Glam Sisters: Admittingly, to say that the two didn't care for Trinket would be an understatement. The twins initially wanted nothing to do with her, and the fact she was getting more attention than them, they couldn't go a day without hating on each other, let alone a four-year-old toddler. But they soon noticed that their boss became a lot friendlier to the workers who are nice to Trinket, and that changed their relationship fast! At first, it was small things, like doing Trinket's hair and makeup before shows or getting Trinket water after shows, then they went as far as to design her a new stage costume, to which they were quickly favored by their boss. It wasn't long for the whole charade to turn into a competition, trying to win over Trinket and gain their boss's favoritism, all the while Trinket was none the wiser, only thinking their doing it out of kindness. And despite caring for Trinket primarily for the perks, they do genuinely care about her, they just refuse to admit it; they were actually the ones who came up with and created "Trinket's Tent." In her eyes, Trinket views the twins as "cool aunts," who let her get away with anything, and given their endless amounts of perks from the boss, they heavily believe they are
Wally Wackford: With all the nurturing Trinket already receives, it's safe to say that Wally is the most caring out of the main four. Unlike most the workers, Wally's the fondest of taking care of kids, mostly due to his home life, and quite enjoys spending time with Trinket, something which she entirely accepts. Wally is Mammon's inventor, so he's always working, and on rare occasions, he often makes little devices for her to play with. And although Trinket does enjoy the gifts, she can't help but worry for his health
Asmodeus: News about Trinket sort of came out of the blue for a lot of the inhabitants, the other Deadly Sins were no exception. Upon finding out that Mammon, of all demons, had a daughter, Ozzie was a mess of emotions! Relieved, shocked, and most importantly, confused. With how well he knows Mammon, he was immediately set on knowing where exactly Trinket came from, to which he's so far unsuccessful on getting an answer. Other than that, Trinket's relationship with Ozzie is a pitiful one, Ozzie thinking that, because she's being cared for by Mammon, she's possibly neglected to some extent. Doting on her and wanting to get Trinket out of what he thinks is a "toxic environment." All the while, Trinket doesn't take much interest in the Sin of Lust and finds him "weird," mostly due to her father's many warnings on Ozzie and the fact she'd only seen him angered and yelling at her dad. And of course, Mammon takes full advantage of her dislike for Oz, feeding her lines to say to Ozzie himself, and since she's a child, she could get away with saying some messed up shi*. . . (Sorry Oz)
Fizzarolli: Unsurprisingly, finding out about Trinket, he was just as shocked and confused as Ozzie was, especially when you consider the short amount of time that passed since he first quit. But upon meeting the young toddler, he quickly went into "older brother mode." Like Asmodeus, he thinks a place under Mammon's care is completely unfit for someone like Trinket, he did work for him after all! and wanted to help. Yet as he got to know her more and about her experiences with Mammon, he learns just how different Trinket's work environment was to his. Of course, she was very oblivious to what he was trying to get from her, going on about how everyone is so nice to her and how great working for her dad is. Information that, respectfully, bewildered him, he was treated like trash, but Trinket suddenly gets off easy? What's going on?! And sure, it could be due to her being a child, but this is Mammon we're talking about! He treats everyone the same! So rather than figuring out the "how," Fizz is trying to figure out the "why." Meanwhile with Trinket herself, as sad as this sounds, she actually likes Fizz more than Ozzie, due to his recognition and because somewhat reassembles her dad
Oliver (Deaf Kid): Oliver has a hard time making new friends, mostly due to his disability, but what made Trinket so interesting to him was, unlike most kids, she quickly recognized that he was deaf. Both were each other's first friends in different ways; Trinket was Oliver's first friend entirely, whilst Oliver was her first friend who's around her age. Despite the obvious communication barrier, the two manage to find temporary workarounds, the most used being a whistle and a whiteboard and marker, both gifted by Trinket herself. It isn't surprising to say that Oliver is a lot shyer than Trinket, who's a massive social butterfly, and although most the time, he'd rather stay in his bubble, there are times where Trinket does push him to be braver, which helped them in forming their current friend group. Overall, the two are the best of friends and bond over their shared love for art and Fizzarolli!
And that's all! I had this OC cooking up for long time. . . Now is more than the right time to bring her out!
Be on the lookout for other projects And as always, stay tuned^^

What if the gods take hardship goddess and her kids in Olympus?
Children Names
First Child - Boy - Alex
Second Child - Girl - Stella
Third Child - Twin - Boy - Malik
Fourth Child - Twin - Girl - Fiona
Fifth Child - Boy - Issac
Sixth Child - Girl - Oracle
The doors of the large room slammed as the eldest of the 6 children ran to the door and pounded away on the door barrier that was secured with a lock, tears rushing down his face and anger in his voice.
"Let us out of here, you bullies! Give us our mother back!" Alex roared at whoever was on the other side of the door but there was no answer, only the sound of footsteps walking away. "RAH!" He roared again as he punched the door and slumped down to his knees, sobbing silently but his siblings heard him and Stella broke away from the cluster of crying children to comfort her elder sibling.
"Alex, it's gonna be okay, we'll get out of here and get out mother back." Stella placed a hand on Alex's shoulder as he sobbed away - angered by his own weakness.
"How? They locked away our powers and I'm not strong enough to break the door... I'm not strong enough to get us out of her so that we can get mother back and father..." He growled at the reminder of his father being struck down by the red-eyed man. "He hurt father..."
"Big Brother. Big Sister." Fiona called out to them as she gained their attention, Oracle crying in her arms, "Who are these people and why did they take Momma?" She asked.
"These...'people' are mother's biological family - The Gods and Goddess of Greek Mythology." Stella said as she held Alex close to her to comfort him.
"If they are her family, why did they hurt papa and why was she crying?" Issac asked.
"I don't know, Brother." Alex sobbed through locked teeth, "I just don't know."
[Meanwhile - with [Y/N] and the Other Gods]
"You Bastards! You've gone too far!" [Y/N] struggled against the divine ropes that Ares got from his daughters - the Amazons.
"Silence yourself, [Y/N]." Artemis rolled her eyes as she stood over her sister with the orb containing the other half of [Y/N], "We're doing this for the greater good of all god-kind and you're lucky that father stated that none of your 'children' would be harmed because I wanted nothing more than to kill those little mistakes."
"You touch my children and I'll slaughter you, Artemis!" [Y/N] snarled at the taller woman, who just smirked at her.
"Stop making her angry, Sister." Apollo said as he sat in his chair, sadness filled his eyes as he looked at the scene before him before looking at his father, "Father, why did you do this? You knew that she was happy with the life she had and you listen to Artemis, just because she wanted to be praised again. You have traumatized your grandchildren and angered your daughter; what makes you think that she will aid us?" He asked.
"She will do what she is told or her children shall be slaughtered." Artemis said before holding the orb closer to [Y/N], "Accept the Hardship Soul and give us the power we lost because of you and your weakness."
"Let my children go." [Y/N] glared into Artemis' eyes.
"You're in no position to make demands. Ares killed your husband, I'll make sure he kills your children if you don't listen to me." Artemis demanded.
"Artemis, you are going too far." Zeus called from his throne, thunder in his voice, "You shall no longer threaten my grandchildren or I shall make sure that you never receive the power again." He looked at [Y/N], "Please, make it easier on yourself, daughter."
"I'm not your daughter. I'll never aid you again." [Y/N]'s cried with hatred in her eyes, "The Greek Gods shall lose their power or become mortal but I shall never let you have your power again. Besides..." She smirked, "It's far too late."

✨Meet The Characters - Weisse Rose ✨
Wasima Rahmani
Alongside Wolffe on his serial flirting, we have Wasima - the DJ, synths, sound effects and Diva of the band! If Diana is a daughter of Ares, Wasima is definitely a daughter of Aphrodite!
She is very openly lesbian and goes by Mata Hari when she's DJ-ing at underground clubs or LGBTQ+ parties.
Some character sheet things down below and then, some notes on her character down the cut, as always!
Age: Early 29
Height: 1.69 (5'5)
Astrological Sign: Aquarius (my woman is a REBEL)
Languages: Arabic, Spanish, English, French
Heavenly Virtue: Unwavering kindness - will give everything and everyone all the kindness she has in her heart; she sees vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness (so much to teach to all of them)
Hellish Sin: Puts on a Shallow Persona - inside, she isn't shallow at all and even hates it, but she thinks the more of a Diva she is, the more people will like her; it's all fake and she doesn't know how to do relationships as herself rather than ~Diva Mata Hari~
Current Occupation: DJ and Seamstress - usually for the underground scene (mostly goths) and Drag Queens
Taller than Diana, smaller than Marty no one is taller than Wolffe man is a street-lamp-post
Darker skin, beautiful glassy green eyes, heart shaped lips, natural dark hair
ALWAYS wearing makeup - be it extreme or lighter, but is NEVER seen without it
She doesn't think she needs it, she just likes it a LOT
Rebels against everything she was taught a "proper woman" should be: wears short skirts and revealing clothes, paints her very long nails, wears bright and feminine colors, cuts her hair how she feels like it, etc.
Wears her femininity as a weapon and loves it
Wasima and Diana connect over the fact on how they were taught inside religious visions of what women should be (Muslim and Catholic) and they rebelled on their own way
Wasima ended up hyper-feminine and glamorous while Diana ended up a tough androgynous goth/punk
Loves Santiago to death
Lesbian
Well-known DJ in the underground scene
A true Daughter of Aphrodite - hence why she and Diana see each other as good friends, sisters even. She has a lot to teach Diana on accepting love, femininity, fun and being flirty, while Diana teaches her a thing or two about standing up for herself and fistfighting
Had to leave her country because one of the many countless wars against Arab countries
Her parents sacrificed themselves to save her - she ended up in Spain, not knowing a single word
Taken in by one of her mother's friends who lived in Spain; got used to call her Aunt
Met Santiago in school when she was a teen refugee: they bonded over being bullied by who they are
Santi got her into DJ-ing and the LGBTQ+ scene
Learned to sew with her father - he was a tailor and she put everything he taught her into practice when making her own clothes and later for clients (mostly Drag Queens)
Dreams of having a fairy tale sort of relationship - with her being a princess and finding her she-knight in shining armor - but thinks no one will be able to truly love someone like her
I am aware her ~Arab background~ is very undefined, but it IS a choice. Weisse Rose isn't set on current times - it's sort of like in a near future. Maybe a parallel reality, if you're more comfortable with that. There are MANY wars against Arabic people and MANY refugees from MANY countries and backgrounds. I had MANY choices to work with and, in the end, I didn't want to choose one because I realized all information I have about their culture, countries, languages, religion, wars are biased - until I can't inform myself better, I don't want to make a caricature of a character.
At first, her character was the classic "Arab woman viciously mistreated by men because all Muslim/Arab men are aggressive misogynists" and I was able to see how wrong I was - how much of biased propaganda that was. It is a good plot if you don't generalize like we are made to: yes, some men are jerk misogynists, but some men are not - and race has nothing to do with that. And that's when I decided to make her story more on her having loving parents and good memories of her childhood/country until war broke it all. Even so, she found a good family with her Aunt in Spain - the prejudice against her origin/refugee status and being a lesbian is a bigger problem to her.
We can leave the abusive parents issues to Wolffe - he will have a lot to unpack and deal with; plus, parents all over the world can be jerks to their kids. It's not a race problem, it's a people problem.

For the second time, a memorial to the Pulse nightclub victims was defaced. A 19 year old did burnouts on the LGBTQ Pride crosswalk. Of course, the truck had a big American flag on it. *****
The Oglala Sioux tribe has banned SD Gov. Christi Noem from their reservation. She told the South Dakota state legislature that she wants to send more state resources to Texas. ** Calling the U.S. southern border in Texas an invasion by illegal immigrants and criminal groups to justify sending South Dakota’s National Guard troops there is a red herring that the Oglala Sioux tribe doesn’t support . They don’t need to be put in cages, separated from their children like during the Trump administration or be cut up by razor wire furnished by, of all places, South Dakota.”- Frank Star

He won 3 Grammys.** Someone else had to make a stink about Beyonce. Her husband called out the voters for not giving all the awards to his wife, I guess?? Jay-Z won the global impact award. The enhanced games are games with steroids. Peter Thiel is shelling out big $. The things that rich boys find to do with their $ is fucking unbelievable. Their statement is: The athletes will be unencumbered by anachronistic legacy systems that are anti science and stigmatize enhanced athletes. Oh my. Sounds like some people don’t want to believe in themselves. Nothing but phonies. Wouldn’t it be nice if all that $ went to children and animals that really need the help?
*****
I was not raised with grown men who whine all the time. I will never understand these people who forever talk about the strength they get from God and then whine about everything in the world. Is God telling you this is the way to solve the problems? What about turn the other cheek? Forgiveness? These people are not like any conservatives or Christians that I knew. Gas prices and unemployment numbers keep dropping and wages are up. Quit bitching and let’s fix the other things that need fixing! ** I see a lot of the red hats that remind me of the brown shirts. New Hampshire’s Chris Sununu is so dismissive of others. He tells us that Trump has done this awful thing and that but I would vote for him. It seems this is a mantra for them. What dicks! ** Lindsey Graham called Zuckerberg and other big tech guys, “bastards.” Others said that after they grilled these guys, the Senators probably patted themselves on the back and went right out and used social media. ** Alex Smirnov, an FBI informant, has been charged with fabricating a multi million $ bribery scheme. Jamie Raskin has called for an end to the impeachment inquiry since Smirnov started all this. His story about the “Biden crime family” and the Ukranian energy company was all Russian BS. Word came down that Wendy’s was spending $20 mil to add fluctuating price boards. The goal seemed to be jacking up prices during peak hours. Burger King decided they would use that and give away free whoppers for 3 days. Of course, you have to make a purchase and have an app. So.. A lot of people are left out of that “free whopper.” Wendy’s has since said that they were not using the boards that way. Reading Percy Jackson TLT was an ordeal for me 2 - Characters
While I can repeat my disclaimer here that I only ever read The Lightning Thief (a translated version, no less) and won't try with the rest of the series, that's still about all of the slack I'm willing to cut Rick Riordan. I don't feel this is a good book, so get it off my chest I shall. Let's get down to business, and when I say business, I mean character work.
Is anyone here not a plump stereotype?
I have real difficulties to find a character here that has more depth than a cardboard cutout. I mean, let's forget about the main trio for now, but is there anything to Chiron beyond Wise Mentor? Oh, yes. The gaslighting. He wants Percy to go to Camp Half-Blood anyway. What is the point of telling him that he hallucinated shit for months?? That's an inexplicable dick move for someone we're supposed to see as a positive, caring mentor figure, but it's not the same as giving him depth. Nevermind that he was introduced via "sometimes he had an expression in his eyes like he was hundreds of years old", which... I said I hate this sort of oh, but it couldn't POSSIBLY be THAT foreshadowing. It's lousy. It's about as subtle as "this guy is EVIL, you see? He took money from an orphan charity fund to buy himself a bigass house with golden toilet seats!" It sounds like something from a cartoon.
There are a couple characters who have a little more groundwork to them than that - I appreciate Percy's mom and the subversion built up with Hades. I do not appreciate pretty much everyone else. People who are evil are obviously and obnoxiously evil (and in case of Medusa and Echidna, so obviously that they make Percy and Annabeth look dumb as fuck). They are also so stupid that you wonder how they function in their jobs (animal smugglers who feed lions with vegetables and herbivores with meat? Come on; they want to sell these animals alive). And Riordan's evil = ugly shorthand gets old really fast. Honestly, it already got old with his bully back at his human school. It also brings up a serious moment of confusion when Percy describes recognizing Ares because Ares looks similar to his daughters at the camp - except... Percy says Ares is "sort of handsome". He went out of his way to tell me how ugly Clarisse and the other bully girls are. So. Looks good on a guy, but not on the girls? Is that sexism or what? I wouldn't put it beyond Riordan for reasons I will go into when talking about mythology. Then there is every character we're supposed to hate using the same slur: "Freak." Can't you think of anything more creative? Especially coming from Ares, it sounds weird: Why would he think of demigod kids, of which he has a few of his own, on the same terms their shitty human step-parents do?
Annabeth, the know-nothing know-it-all
And then there's Annabeth, the deuteragonist. Also, the one where the set-up stereotype falls completely flat. See, we're supposed to think she's that smartass girl who knows everything better to the point of being annoying, kind of Hermione but with a terrible attitude. She's often described to look like her mind is going a mile a minute, she's Little Miss Exposition when Chiron is not around, she knows the world of the Half-Bloods and Immortals since she was seven; she has it all down. Well. Except several situations don't make her appear very smart at all. She ignores Grover's warnings when he says he can smell a monster, just as Percy does. She looks down on Grover for no reason (except maybe Fantasy Racism, which is a really bad trait for someone who has lived around satyrs and the likes since she was seven). She doesn't pick up on Medusa knowing Percy's name without being told. She prioritizes her being hungry over caution with strangers, just as Percy does. She leaves him alone with strangers when their instincts tell them both it's a bad idea. For someone who's oh-so-bright and level-headed, she fails the most basic logic.
Let's also mention Annabeth's big passion, architecture. It doesn't look very good when I know after the first vague description of Camp Half-Blood that Rick Riordan doesn't know shit about Ancient Greek architecture beyond having watched a few toga movies in his time. Because he repeats this lack of knowledge in a character who he claims knows better. Granted, the reason why I know better is because I'm minoring in Classical Archaeology, and most of the readers probably don't. But here's the thing: If you wanna write an expert in a field, you should really read up on the field. Ideally, let an expert edit the relevant parts of the text. "Write what you know" doesn't mean "hands off of non-you experiences!", it means "do your research"; it's a point of respect towards your reader not to assume they know nothing anyway. I don't know why he insisted on this being Annabeth's major interest - I mean, I do know; he did because it's a basic trait of Athena's and Riordan isn't very creative in character-building. The St. Louis Gateway Arch as an example of impressive architecture for a CLASSICALLY educated architect?? You've gotta be kidding me.
The other thing about Annabeth is that I just. Don't. Like her. She keeps being rude to Grover. She never explains anything to Percy and then complains about his ignorance. Her bitchiness is persistent and unprovoked. The reason she gives him for why they shouldn't get along doesn't even make much sense - because their parents dislike each other? The respective parents in question are barely even involved in their lives! What kind of a lame justification is that? You aren't your mother and Percy isn't his father, and parentage is not a personality (except when it kind of is, but I'll get back to that). And it takes so long for her to do anything likable... yet her constant insults don't count as bullying because, you see, she is pretty. Honestly, for at least half of the book, this seems to be the only justification why she isn't put on the same level as Clarisse. She tells Percy it's his fault the bus got blown up because he fought against the furies who made the bus blow up? Make it make sense. And then she bitches at him again because if he dies, she won't get to fulfill her mission successfully. Yeah. She just made her alleged friend's possible death about herself. Awesome.
This ship is sailing without me
I know a few things about the Percy Jackson series as a whole, for example that Percy and Annabeth are going to be an official couple sooner or later. There is the ship-teasing in this book already, and I assume it'll develop onward from here. Hm. I'm so not on board of this ship. I know a bickering romance when I see one, and this doesn't look like one. Because 1) the admiration and positive feelings seem largely one-sided for Percy, and 2) the insults and sarcastic retorts seem largely one-sided for Annabeth. This is not a balanced dynamic. It feels like Annabeth has made it her hobby to shit on her supposed love interest and be as unhelpful as humanly possible, but he compliments her at every turn, and she expects him to bow to her bossy attitude. And Percy outright says at one point that she talks to him and Grover the same way she talks to a dog. Bad news: The Cerberos scene was the only moment when I sympathized with Annabeth, and that statement severely undermined my sympathy.
But, say it with me now, she is pretty. So of course she's nothing like those nasty bullies, the daughters of Ares. And also, she blushed and was embarrassed when she was supposed to walk into that love tunnel with Percy to retrieve a MacGuffin, for fuck's sake; he didn't ask her for smoochies! "What if anyone sees us?" my ASS; you are 12-year-olds alone in a closed-down theme park; if anyone sees you there, they'll ask you what the hell you think you're doing on other people's property, you stupid bint!, so there! Yeah. No. I really hope for the future books (blindly; I will not read them) that they'll get to something that feels more mutual, because whatever they have in this book is far from cute. It's tiresome.
Consistency whomst? Don't know her
I have real difficulties to get a grasp on the main trio. Even Grover, whom I do like best among them, has a few moments that just make me go, "huh? How does that fit with what we have been told?" For example, at some point in the camp Percy and Grover are whining something about weaving baskets. It makes sense that Percy, the action-oriented 12-year-old from the human world, would think weaving baskets is the lamest shit ever - it makes zero sense for Grover to look down on it. He's lived in this world his entire life; what does he think how everything works if no one is taking care of the everyday jobs? What does he think how the camp is running if no one does the necessities?
Also. Does Grover have a good instinct for monsters, or does he not? He is the first to warn of Medusa, but with Echidna, it's suddenly Percy who gets a bad feeling. Percy also tells us that Grover is his best and only friend, then treats him as an idiot to make fun of half of the time. They cast a POC to play Grover in the series, and I swear to God, if they have a boy of color running around there eating garbage and mainly being present to be mocked by the other two protagonists...
Then there's Percy's attitude about people. Which also makes sudden switches from one adventure to another. The bus stunt with the furies? Fuck the other passengers, amirite? They can have all the trauma they can get; who cares if they get hurt. Afterwards, Percy talks about them in a supremely eye-rolling manner when the bus has crashed and everyone is panicking and there's probably injuries. But during his little touristic trip in St. Louis? He's suddenly all hero and wants to rescue people. Then he lets wild animals, including a fucking lion, on the loose in the middle of a city full of people, and snarks at Cerberos squishing dead people even deader. Does he care about humans, or does he not?
Even Annabeth, as consistently dislikable as I find her, had me go, "what?" Throughout half of the book, I was suddenly told that she's, like Percy, dyslexic. And narrator Percy says it in a manner of, "I had forgotten that she was also...", so I was like, "did I forget it as well?" and went back to look it up. I hadn't forgotten. It wasn't established before that point. Don't gaslight me, Riordan.
Where's my protagonist at?
While I liked Percy in the beginning, I found it increasingly difficult to emotionally connect with him. That started with the death of his mother. Besides Percy mentioning her on a few occasions, it didn't seem like he was grieving. His distress about her loss was very brief, and yeah, I get his whole angry-12-year-old spiel, but he's still a kid who just lost his mother? The only parent he loved? Eh. On the other hand, his ties to Camp Half-Blood are vastly oversold. He says it feels like a new home after a couple days; leaving it pains him deeply... after all of. Two. Weeks. How am I supposed to believe that? In what way was it more of a home to him than his human school? Where he also had a friend and some bullies, and his mom was not there? Even after the mission, the time he spends at the camp is just skipped. Zero connection for me as the reader. On the more amusing side of this, Charon in the Underworld singing a Barry Manilow sing confuses me less than Percy, a 12-year-old millennial, recognizing a Barry Manilow song.
And sometimes I'm just wondering what the hell is going on in Percy's head. He describes the situation at Medusa's shop as increasingly uncomfortable - but he ignores the warnings of Grover and then Annabeth, and he allows a stranger to take a photo of them? CREEPY! Has his angelic mom not warned him about strangers? That seems wildly counterproductive. He tries to put it to his not remembering the Medusa myth in that moment and not connecting the dots, but I'm not buying it. She's all, "everyone loves children", and he doesn't go, "ew, stay away from me"? And after that, the very next situation he has a bad feeling about? "Nah, it's okay; I can stay alone with some weird stranger. You guys go ahead." *facepalm* Beating your reader over the head with something like that comes at the detriment of your characters' apparent intelligence. And the confrontation with Luke reinforces that. You don't have that many friends, Percy! And you refused to even consider the possibility of Grover or Annabeth being the one to betray you! To then cheerily prance away with an obviously troubled Luke doesn't look smart.
Lineage is not personality
Last but not least, why is this something that Riordan and Rowling gotta have in common? It frustrates me to no end - the assumption that you can easily sort people, in this case kids, into personality categories. And in Riordan's case, the personality traits are determined by their lineage. It's not Slytherins; it's the children of Ares who are cruel bullies. Annabeth the smartass is not a Ravenclaw; she's a daughter of Athena. The impulsive, fearless protagonist is not a Gryffindor; he's a son of Poseidon, one of the Big Three. Oof. This makes things very easy for Riordan, and it makes things very flat. Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty, so her kids are vain and useless (yes, I am planning to shred this via a look at mythology). Demeter is the goddess of nature, so her kids are gentle little flower children (same). Kids of Hermes cannot be trusted because he's a trickster. Kids of Hades were the fascists of last World War. Not only do these categories not work because Riordan's takes on mythology are at least very one-sided and superficial; he also tries to hammer home that who your parents are will determine your personality. It's a way to simplify characters, and a notion I loathe.

I thought I had purged my mental files of the negative things that I’ve experienced in Utah but apparently I’m not finished.
Nepotism
prejudice against people who are not them
AR who sat at the breakfast table with me at a birthday brunch, wouldn’t talk to me, make eye contact or eat the casserole I had brought. Had a baby shower for a woman I ministered to, invited all the women in the ward but me. Her best friend’s sons tried not to pass me the sacrament on 3 Sundays. She and her family wouldn’t participate in events I invited them to from birthday parties to scout events. I took them homemade cinnamon rolls when his father died.
I attended funerals, helped with family luncheons, took care of dying friends. When my dad died I got a text that maybe came from the bishop. On my hardest day, my 2 ministers came over to comfort me
when mom died in my home, I got a text from the bishop, 2 people came up at church to offer condolences and later the RS president brought me an orchid. That was it, it really hurt my feelings
A palpable dislike of Californians, especially odd when they haven’t met us or continually exclude us intentionally and I find so many things in California of superior quality. Disneyland vs Lagoon, the San Diego zoo vs the Hogle zoo, Monterey Bay aquarium vs the Sandy aquarium, the Pacific Ocean beaches vs the Salt Lake. Temperate weather and gardening year-round versus heat and snow. Lots of snow. Utah has great skiing but I don’t ski
aggressive, rude drivers -getting rear-ended at a red light, having the driver’s mother contact us saying her daughter has a perfect record and could we let their mechanic fix our car instead of going through the insurance because we were not injured, after we both had whiplash
poor spellers
so many possessive apostrophes on simple plurals
aggressive, rude behavior in public and private
being chewed out by some guy at church for being too busy with college to accept an extra assignment regarding the ward Christmas activity
when I was returning home from the hospital and stopped at smiths to get food, was in line and a woman crowded in front of us, put her groceries on the belt ahead of ours, explaining, not apologizing or asking to go first, that she was in a hurry to get her son to work
the mistaken notion that Utah products are superior to everyone else and Utah businesses must be supported with they deserve patronage or not
The incident in Costco where a woman tried to force me to buy Mrs calls caramels when I was buying Bequet brand which was far superior bcausemrs callsis a Utah brand
The Mandarin restaurant in Bountiful, cupbop, taco time,
ageism, although I was well-qualified for several jobs as an art teacher and was not hired
having a car window shot out
having my son accused of vandalizing a neighbor’s car when he was innocent and had helped the neighbor on several occasions
having my social media hacked multiple times-especially while traveling
being so fed up with the above activities and more subtle bullying and abuse that I refused to attend church with these people, and subsequently moved so I could participate and losing about $140,000 in equity
having a neighbor’s tree fall and tear the electrical wires off of our house and us having to pay for the repair, no power for 3 days and he didn’t offer nor apologize
not being allowed to serve at Davis High on the PTA, even though my catering skills and creativity far exceeded those I experienced
sitting in temple training and taking notes like I did in San Diego to take back to relief society to share, only to be accosted by some pushy woman as I exited
while in school at the u and working in addition to housekeeping, attending a 7:00 am meeting where the bishop wouldn’t talk or even look at me. There were only 3 of us present
being told women don’t make comments in Sunday school
working as an art teacher for a school with over 600 students and getting paid less than $13 an hour, with not enough hours to teach every class every week, I donated the time for 1 kindergarten class. Having 1/2 hour a week to prep- prepare lessons and art supplies for 630 students with no curriculum in place. I donated as many hours as I got paid for, effectively earning $6.50 an hour with a BFA. Only did it 1 year
being told by a smirking kindergarten teacher that one of her students’ parents complained their daughter wasn’t perfecting her art in my class. I had each class for 25 minutes a week with 25+ students in each class. I was introducing them to techniques and projects they could do independently outside of school.
having a 6th grader kick over my expensive camera on a tripod.the school paid for the repair but it never worked well after that
being repeatedly ignored at church even though I was an emerging artist and author. I wrote 60 articles that were published, was on 16 international radio interviews, made art for Macys city creek, was on television and hardly ever received any recognition or encouragement. There was one man and a neighbor that were very kind and encouraging
ignored and discouraged by the intake editor at shadow mountain
When I requested my records be transferred to a neighboring ward, I was told by the stake president that the 1st presidency had to approve the request. When I asked why the people in Kaysville 10 ward were so mean, he replied that they don’t like change and that I was fat. There were people in our ward that resided in another ward’s boundaries. They were wealthy.
was told by the adult daughter of a man who had been excommunicated for “outside ideas” that we didn’t fit the profile required by that ward
from my perspective, so many Utahns are culturally, artistically and intellectually deficient but they insist that if you are not doing it their way, you are wrong and deserve shunning or worse

If you've not already done so, can you do a percy jackson/tua crossover type hc? This feels very demanding of me even though people ask you these types of things, so sorry if it sounds rude.
Of course! I’ve written a couple like this but tagging on tumblr is awful so I can never find them again.
Edit: didn’t realize until after I wrote it how long this was so... my bad...
Luther is the son of Zeus. He’s raised by the half-blood camp knowing he’s part of an important prophecy. Because of that he never knew a life away from being a hero. That can make him insufferable at times, and he has a huge hero complex, but he’s also someone you want on your side.
He’s sent on a quest to fetch the rest of the seven in order to complete the prophecy.
Diego, son of Apollo. Amazing aim but he uses knives instead of a bow as a direct fuck you at the gods. He too has a hero complex but also hates the gods for abandoning him. His father barely knows he exists. After his mother was killed by a monster he spent almost a year crossing the country to get to the supposed safe place his mother told him about. Camp Half Blood.
Allison, daughter of Aphrodite. She’s the strongest charm speaker the gods have ever known. She’s also never lived her life without it. After she misuses her power against some bullies, she runs away from home. She tries to survive without her powers when the guilt of her past plagues her. This doesn’t work very well however when she almost dies from monster attacks.
Allison is kidnapped by a Cyclops wanting to cook her when she meets Diego... who also happened to have been kidnapped. They escape together and she decides to follow him to Camp Half Blood.
Klaus, son of Hades. He’s not supposed to exist. The gods don’t acknowledge him. Hades can’t help him. He’s on his own.
Klaus was orphaned at birth but he has never been alone. The ghosts are always there. As a teen her turns to drugs in order to tune out their screams. This works for a while...
... until he’s attacked by monsters one night at a club. He’s saved by Diego and Allison. He decides to follow them to camp half blood. He doesn’t fully believe their tales of gods. He knows he isn’t a hero. But he owes Ben a favor, and his ghost friend really seems to think that it’s a good idea.
Five son of... well no one knows. He’s never been claimed. He’s lived in the Hermes cabin since arriving at Camp Half Blood at thirteen years old. He thinks it’s been decades. He’s not sure. No one can remember a time he hasn’t been there. No one can remember how long he’s lived there. He still looks thirteen.
Time doesn’t matter to Five. He can’t remember a life outside of camp half blood. He can’t remember a time he didn’t look thirteen. He can’t remember how long he’s been at camp. He can’t remember when the voice of his father started to haunt his dreams, but he can ignore the orders no longer.
When Luther leaves on a quest for camp, Five knows he needs to follow. So he does. Even if the truth could mean his death.
Can a son of Kronos even be part of a prophecy? If his new friends knew the truth... would they even let him live?
Ben is a ghost. He died almost fifteen years ago. He doesn’t remember his parents, doesn’t remember ever having powers... He knows his fate though. He’s seen it hundreds of times before. If you can’t pay the toll, you drift. You drift in the earthly plane until you can’t remember anything, until you can’t think, until you’re nothing but mist and regret.
He won’t let that happen. Klaus is a beacon. He’s a lighthouse during a storm. But more than that. When Ben is with Klaus, he can almost remember what it’s like to be human. He can almost remember Camp Half Blood.
Now if only he can keep that idiot alive long enough to remember everything else. Like why can Klaus see him even when he’s drugged? And why does Ben have a portal to Tartarus in his stomach?
Vanya is the last to join their group. She’s ordinary. There’s nothing special about her. She can play the violin although not particularly well. She feels like a half blood, although just faintly. She barely even attracts any monsters. She’s nothing. A minor God’s child, left to die at the claws of any monster hungry enough to bother with someone like her.
Until she levels an entire building.
The half-bloods find Vanya by accident while hiding from a manticore. She just happens to be at the coffee shop with her high school orchestra, on their way to a performance in the next town over. They only stopped because their bus was having engine trouble.
The half-bloods are shocked when the manticore is distracted from hunting them by Vanya, a seemingly normal human girl...
But even through the protection magic... the manticore can smell her power.
And then she accidentally brings the entire building down by playing a single note on her violin.
Is she a daughter of Apollo? The music would make sense. Ares maybe? With a strength like that? Athena? One of the big three?
Vanya follows them, searching for answers. And they follow Luther, on a quest he was raised to follow all his life.
To save the world from an apocalypse that has yet to happen.
Meanwhile Hera watches from above, terrified that her affair will be revealed to the world through the existence of her only daughter.

Frev prompts, Part 4! 🎉
21. The protagonist is a high school student with a knack for drawing comics but they’re also the favorite target of the bullies at school.
One day the bullying gets so bad that the protagonist is unable to cope with reality anymore and, as a means of escapism, writes themselves into their new comic about their favorite topic - The French Revolution. With their favorite pen they had inherited from their writer grandfather, no less.
However, what was supposed to be a harmless little self-insert quickly becomes a reality when the protagonist is magically transported into their comic book and now has to navigate their own story and finish it in order to return to the real world, as well as figure out the mysterious powers of the magical pen.
22. Despite the fact that the days when the Bastille used to be packed with prisoners are gone, a handful were still trapped inside its gloomy walls by the time the infamous prison was taken.
The protagonist is one of the few prisoners who are sentenced to imprisonment inside the Bastille until they and the rest of the prisoners are set free by the revolutionaries.
For the first time in a long while, the protagonist is free but not all is sunshine and butterflies because the revolution is only beginning to escalate and the protagonist has long forgotten how to function in the society outside the prison.
With no other options, the protagonist decides to try and rebuild their life from square one, all while the events of the revolution are unfolding in the city of Paris.
23. Two friends, the protagonists, were raised together by a noble family as adopted wards and used to be close as children, but drifted apart when one of the two went abroad to get a good education.
Nevertheless, the childhood friends find themselves reunited by a pure coincidence during a meeting in the Jacobin Club, which both of them joined mere days ago.
All seems well, until it becomes apparent that the protagonists don’t exactly see eye to eye when it comes to politics in France nor the methods of solving the multiple issues plaguing the country.
This new rift between the protagonists only widens as the revolution progresses and the Jacobin Club gets split into groups on the basis of shared political beliefs.
Will the two protagonists be able to restore the friendship they used to have or will their new differences prove that maybe friendship isn’t always as almighty as people say?
24. The protagonist is acutely aware of the multiple injustices of the French society but they are not too eager to change things personally, hoping that maybe the government will find a way to fix things.
The protagonist, meanwhile, would rather focus on keeping their small family business (a bookshop) afloat and renting out an apartment in the house to make ends meet.
Soon, however, the protagonist ends up getting roped into the events of the revolution regardless when they accidentally overhear their new tenant discuss his plans in a hushed tone with a few other people.
The protagonist has all the evidence that they had unwittingly rented out an apartment to a revolutionary and now they have the evidence to turn that rebellious youth from Blérancourt in along with his buddies.
At first, the best course of action seems fairly obvious. Just report them to the authorities and be done with it.
However, perhaps these youths are more than just stupid kids playing at freedom fighting and maybe they can actually help the country.
When faced with the dilemma of either ratting the young rebels out or joining their cause, the protagonist makes a choice that ends up changing their entire life.
25. The year is 1811. Located near Saint-Petersburg, The Imperial Lyceum is a place where boys from noble families of The Russian Empire live and study. Perhaps the most famous Lyceum of all, it was home to plenty of those who would become prominent in Russian society of the time.
This is where the protagonist, one David de Boudry, teaches French to these boys.
Monsieur de Boudry knows that most of his students are blissfully unaware of a certain secret of his and likes it that way. It is best if they don’t know that he happens to be a younger brother to Jean-Paul Marat himself but changed his last name to avoid the associations.
Keeping this particular tidbit of his biography secret used to be fairly easy, until his older brother, Jean-Paul Marat, appeared in David’s life again on a snowy and frosty January day.
Marat is inexplicably alive, but he is also half-frozen and extremely disheveled when he shows up, not to mention the fact that he arrives with his wife and a very young child in tow. They all need a place to hide from the authorities, and fast.
Being a loving brother, David de Boudry hides his family and is now determined to keep them safe for not even a new name can sever family ties.
But, having made this difficult choice, will Monsieur de Boudry be able to reconcile his love for his family and the devotion to his adoptive home country? And will Marat be able to keep his loved ones and himself safe from the agents of police who lurk nearby and are quite hellbent on proving that the man they are pursuing is indeed the infamous Jacobin?
26. The protagonist is a sophomore who became a member of a Drama Club during their freshman year of high school and they are quite happy to finally have a friend group where they belong. Here nobody judges them for their stutter, their crossdressing and their fear of dogs. The protagonist is even allowed to play roles that would be normally reserved for the opposite gender just so they have an excuse to crossdress.
The upcoming play about the French Revolution is no exception and the protagonist is quite overjoyed but also frustrated that something just doesn’t ring true whenever they read their lines. Frustrated, they sneak into a time machine built by their parents and transport themselves to Paris of 1794.
They soon see that the city is in chaos and rumors about a traitor who had supposedly escaped the guillotine and went on the run with his family spread like wildfire. Moreover, the protagonist soon finds themselves in a bit of a pickle because of their name and physical appearance.
Even a man whom the protagonist saves from a mob advises them not to reveal their name and to lay low as soon as the protagonist introduces themselves. The protagonist is naturally confused but they do want to stay alive and free.
In order to survive, the protagonist decides to do what actors do best - improvise. It’s not easy, of course, but the protagonist tries to stay optimistic.
They hope that they will make it. They know they will. Giving up is not an option. After all, a Desmoulins never gives up. Right?
27. The French Revolution is not an easy period in history. It should be fairly obvious why.
The country is drowning in chaos and the future is uncertain, no matter how hard The Committee of Public Safety tries to maintain at least some semblance of order.
Meanwhile, in the heart of Paris, lives our protagonist whose main concern was not the revolution, but rather the fact that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep their inn’s doors open.
And then, one day, the unthinkable happens. A guest is found murdered in their room. Naturally, all the other guests are now suspects, and so is the staff. A diverse bunch of people with their own agendas, secrets and ties to the victim has gathered in the inn.
Sensing that something isn’t right, the protagonist decides to become an amateur sleuth and get to the bottom of the situation.
A “whodunnit” murder mystery is about to take place in the inn and the protagonist is determined to solve it.
28. A few years passed after the betrayal of the Thermidorians. The Revolution is destroyed and all of the enemies of the new government are dead… Except for one.
The protagonist is a patient in a mental hospital on the outskirts of Paris. Here the treatment of the patients is becoming more and more humane than it used to be before. That being said, the living conditions still leave a lot to be desired. Moreover, the protagonist feels isolated and lonely due to their personal issues and the trauma that caused them to become basically imprisoned in the facility.
Luckily, the loneliness disappears when the protagonist secretly manages to befriend another patient, a mysterious young man who is kept in isolation from the rest of the people at the facility, is forced to wear a mask to hide his face and is treated far worse than the others.
Horrified by the extent of the abuse that their new friend has to endure, the protagonist teams up with him to escape to Avignon, where the protagonist’s relatives live.
Little do they know, their new friend and partner in crime is an outlaw and a Montagnard, the last of them all, so when the two finally escape the police quickly catch wind of the situation.
Can the duo get to Avignon and avoid recapture? Will this unlikely friendship help them heal from their respective trauma? And will the revolutionary’s plan to avenge his executed friends be successful?
29. (Crossover with Greek mythology) When Adrestia, a minor Greek goddess, is banished to Earth from Mount Olympus for causing too much trouble, she assumes a human disguise and travels to France of 1789, where great changes are just around the corner.
Finally finding herself in her own element once again, Adrestia (whose human name is Adrienne) decides that she has no right to miss all the fun and joins the forces of the revolution. She is a goddess of revolt and a daughter of Ares, after all.
One would think that having a goddess on your side will make fighting easier, but things are not that simple and the other gods don’t exactly take kindly to troublemakers who go against authority.
Nevertheless, Adrestia is more than willing to try and help her new allies to win in their fight for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
30. When the protagonists first meet up in real life, they’re ecstatic. After a few years of chatting on the Internet, the two French Revolution enthusiasts have finally met each other face to face and now they decide to set an old plan of theirs in motion.
The duo wants to perform a time travel spell invented by their witch ancestors and change the way the French Revolution ended. The spell is successfully cast, but in the process the warlocks run out of magic and are now forced to wait in the past until they are strong enough to cast the spell again to return home.
But hey, at least while they’re waiting they can do what they always wanted to do - prevent the Thermidorian Reaction, and they are going to try to do just that, even though preventing a coup d’état is far from easy, especially for two college kids from the future.
31. It’s 1815. Joseph Fouché is the Minister of Police but his days in office are numbered and he knows it.
What’s more, rumors spread about the incompetence of the police as nobody can catch the culprit behind a new string of murders. Fouché hopes that cracking the case would restore his reputation, but something isn’t right about these murders.
So far, every single victim was a participant of the Thermidorian Reaction and it simply cannot be a mere coincidence. This pattern makes Fouché fear for his life and his reputation, as in addition to the murders the sins that he and his allies had pinned on their enemies begin to resurface.
Fearing that he is next and that his own crimes are about to be exposed as well, Fouché becomes obsessed with catching this mysterious vigilante. He even has a prime suspect in mind, but he can neither track him down nor prove that it was him.
Meanwhile, the time Fouché has to rehabilitate the police force is running out. Soon he too might face the music at long last, as well as learn exactly why sparing one of your enemies while killing the rest is considered to be a classic mistake.
Will the vigilante get to Fouché? How much time does the Minister of Police actually have left before karma knocks on his door? And why does the youngest police inspector in history, who is Fouché’s beloved protégé, turn against his mentor?
32. When the protagonist decided to sneak into the Catacombs of Paris for “shits and giggles” with their buddies, the last thing they expected was a sudden time travel to a closet in an apartment of a prominent revolutionary, whose skull the protagonist was holding in their hands seconds ago.
Naturally, the protagonist gets caught by the housekeeper and promptly accused of breaking and entering at best, and an assasination attempt at worst. It doesn’t help that the protagonist has strange pills and a baseball bat on their person.
But when they’re about to get prosecuted, the inhabitant of that same apartment suddenly speaks up on their behalf and defends the protagonist, claiming that it was a mere misunderstanding. Later, that same revolutionary visits the protagonist, reveals that he knows about the existence of time travel and promises to help, as long as the protagonist goes along with his plan.
Despite suspecting that the revolutionary has an ulterior motive, the protagonist does want answers so they agree to play along...at least for a while.
33. After the Revolutionary War in America, the protagonist follows his friend and mentor, Marquis de Lafayette, to Paris as he is the only family the hero has at this point.
At first, when the French Revolution rolls around, the hero still stays by his mentor’s side, never questioning his opinions and decisions and admiring him as a hero.
But after the September Massacres reveal Lafayette’s...less heroic side the hero is utterly broken and disappointed that he trusted the wrong person yet again. This revelation prompts the hero to switch sides and become a double agent, working with the Jacobins while pretending that he is still loyal to Lafayette.
Is this the correct choice to make or will the hero’s naïveté and a simple desire to belong betray him once again?
34. Maximilien Robespierre finds himself in a difficult situation. Somehow, everyone who crosses his path keeps going missing, only to turn up brutally murdered.
Moreover, Robespierre keeps receiving notes with rather...stalkerish messages written by the culprit. The stress and the crippling paranoia are slowly taking a toll on his frail body and he collapses altogether after finding out that Camille Desmoulins and Antoine de Saint-Just got attacked as well.
Fortunately, Saint-Just and Desmoulins manage to survive the ordeal and decide that enough is enough. After a long recovery, the two men decide to set aside their differences and track down the mysterious stalker before other people close to Robespierre get hurt.
Who knows, perhaps this buddy cop-esque adventure will even help Saint-Just and Desmoulins resolve their rivalry once and for all, now that a mutual friend of theirs needs both of them.
35. An immigrant enrolls into a high school in the country where they live now, a country located on the other side of the planet, miles away from their homeland.
Isolated from the rest of the students, shunned for their Eastern European accent (feel free to pick the specific country) and their Socialist beliefs, the protagonist has very few friends and even they are imaginary - three French revolutionaries whom the protagonist admires the most.
However, things change when a classmate bonds with the protagonist over their fascination with the French Revolution and the two decide to team up and write a novel about their favorite topic, all while the three imaginary friends, who may or may not be something more than a simple product of imagination, are guiding these kids on their quest to rehabilitate the legacy of the revolution.
P. S. The Fouché tag has been graciously lent to me by @frevandrest , the tag’s inventor. This needs to become an official tag imo.

Sam- son of Hephaestus ( God of the forge duh.) or prometheus ( cause I like that idea.) he spends most of his time building or baking pumkin pies, and disappearing for some big project that no ones figured out yet.
Bbh- now this might be controversial but what if we made bbh a monster who escaped from tartarus just decided nope not gonna be a child eating dick after meeting skeppy.
Skeppy- is an Oreiades (or the son of one.) is a spirit of mountains and rocks. For him he has his human form and a form made of pure Diamond.
Philza- either a centaur or a son of Thanotos ( the god of death.) keeping that angel of death metaphor in there. He's made it his life effort to go out into the world and find half bloods and make sure they’re safe.

Luz’s mother really doesn’t want to send Luz to camp. She knows once she leaves, there is no going back. But Luz has a knack for getting into trouble, and one day she stumbles into the same type of people her mother would have preferred she avoided. After helping Luz dissolve her high school bully into dust, Eda and Lilith know right away that this kid is just like them - a child of the gods. So Luz hops on a Pegasus and heads to Camp Half-blood, where she embarks on a dangerous quest that makes her both friends and enemies... and she might even save Olympus along the way.
Chapter Thirty-Six: I Have the Best Summer Ever
The rest of Luz’s summer was a total blur of the best kind of amazing, fantastic, demigod-ness a kid could even imagine.
Luz’s days were filled with training in the arena, playing capture the flag, and hanging out with her friends. Every morning that she woke up and put on one of her orange t-shirts was another reminder that as of right now, she really had it good.
Sometimes in the mornings she and Eda would head out into the arena and spar while King took his usual sunbathing position a few feet away. Eda would parry and block her strikes, give her dirty tricks to use in upcoming games or events, and sometimes Luz would even get lucky enough to disarm her or pull something new she wasn’t expecting.
“I swear kid, one of these days you’re going to be even better than me,” she’d say, reaching down to ruffle her hair and switch her weapon and get ready for another round.
More than once, she and her siblings in the Hermes cabin had banded together to play some light-hearted pranks on the other cabins. Viney and Jerbo were a mischievous force to be reckoned with, and while Luz liked to participate she never really got lucky in the “getting away” part. More than once, Lilith had caught her in the act while she was placing a prank and turned a blind eye, and Luz always felt a rush of affection for the daughter of Zeus. It was asking a lot for her to not snitch, especially since she was a stickler for rules.
Luz made it up to her once or twice by pranking Eda on her behalf with a little bit of help from Edric and Emira. When her mentor showed up to the dining pavilion once with her hair sticking straight up in the air thanks to some magic hair gel, the laugh that came out of Lilith’s mouth made it all worth it.
At nights, Luz and Amity would sneak out of their cabins and hide from the harpies, sitting with their sketchbooks in the strawberry fields. They would laugh, and talk, and kiss, and enjoy each other’s company until one of them inevitably almost fell asleep and they decided to head back.
The wall of Luz’s bunk was soon tacked to the max with drawings, some of them of her quest, and some of them with fond memories of camp. She always did her best to text one to her Mami once in a while, and let her know how she was doing.
Luz made sure her cabin would try and team up with Gus and Willow’s whenever they could. The three of them were officially a force to be reckoned with during capture the flag. Their combinations and chemistry in battle often resulted in very easy and very early wins, and some of the other cabins were quick to point out they had an “unfair quest experience advantage”. While Eda had just shrugged, Willow did her best to make sure the teams would sometimes even out a little better after that.
Gods kept visiting camp here and there, usually to come by and say hello to their kids. Aphrodite had the habit of showing up unannounced and snapping her fingers, giving everybody an unrealistically fashionable outfit and hairdo, while the clothes they’d been wearing got snapped back to their bunks freshly washed and laundered. While some of the campers hated it, Luz didn’t mind. Aphrodite certainly had her style down to perfection, and pocketing another free outfit was always nice. Amity had other opinions on the matter.
“I just don’t get why she has to do this!” She complained, adjusting the pink t-shirt Aphrodite had magically slapped onto her. “It’s so weird!”
“I think that really suits you,” Luz shrugged while pointing to the leather jacket slung over Amity’s arm. “And your shirt says Hexside! How cool is that!”
Amity rolled her eyes as Luz did a spin, showing off her new green jacket and beanie to Gus and Willow. “She gave me new shoes too! My old ones are torn to bits from the quest.”
“You have to admit Amity, it’s nice getting free stuff,” Willow said while examining her own yellow jacket. “And she’s not the goddess of beauty for nothing. These are nice clothes.”
“My clothes look exactly like the ones I already own!” Gus complained, looking down at his simple navy button-up and jeans.
“If it isn’t broken don’t fix it!” Luz teased with a smile, patting him on the back. Amity groaned in embarrassment, slapping her hands to her face.
When Hermes showed up the first few times to visit the camp, Luz said hello to him, but also made sure that her other siblings got to spend some one-on-one time with their dad. As he was leaving the third time he visited, he pulled Luz aside for a quick chat.
“I just want to let you know that the gods have talked about adding an additional reward for you and your friends after what you’ve done for Olympus,” he said quietly, and Luz’s jaw dropped.
“I… I don’t need another reward dad. The way you guys have been showing up at camp is more than enough.”
Hermes tilted his head, smiling softly. “Perhaps you don’t need one, but the gods want to give it to you anyway. You have no idea the gravity of the situation that Belos had created upon Olympus. He almost destroyed us all.”
He looked around to make sure nobody was listening, and then leaned in to whisper.
“As the god of messengers, I was responsible for delivering a package to your mother and the rest of your companion's parents. You should hear from them shortly.”
Luz gaped. “What? What do you mean…”
Hermes reached over and gripped her shoulders. “I am proud of you, Luz. And trust me when I say I will make good on my promise and be there more for you and your siblings.” He winced rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “And… don’t be the first one to use the shower this evening. Your siblings and I might have set up a bit of a cruel prank.”
With a flash of wind, leaving behind a thoroughly confused Luz, Hermes was gone.
Luz didn’t have to wait long to find out what exactly the gods had done, because her Mami was calling her on her cellphone almost immediately after.
“Luz! You’ll never guess what showed up in the mail today! You’ve been accepted for a full ride to a boarding school downtown…”
And she wasn’t the only one.
“I can’t believe this!” Gus had exclaimed while the four of them were sitting on the beach just after dinner. “We’re all going to the same school next year!”
“It really does seem too good to be true,” Willow grinned, handing Luz one of the illicit cans of Sprite that Viney had managed to sneak from out of camp in celebration. “My dads are sad that I won’t be staying at home in Wisconsin, but they had to admit it is a great opportunity.”
“I’m just excited to go to a school where I finally have real friends.” Luz had never been so happy to think about the start of a new school year before. “We’ll get to go see Olympus on the weekends! Working alongside the actual gods!” Luz turned to Amity, who was watching Luz with her own soft smile. “Are your parents… okay with this? After everything that happened…”
“Oh trust me, they’re more than pleased. They see this whole internship program to create a bridge between the gods and their mortal kids as a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity'. They’re even talking about paying for Edric and Emira to go with me and hope that my ‘success’ rubs off on them. They don’t love that you guys are also a part of it though…” Amity’s expression darkened for a moment, and Luz reached across the beach to squeeze her hand.
“I’m sorry,” Luz started, but Amity just shrugged her shoulders.
“Don’t apologize, this is a good thing. I’m going to get to stay here in New York full time.”
“We all get too!” Gus grinned, digging his hands in the sand like he was holding back a squeal. “Luz you’ve got to show us all your favorite moral spots in the city.”
Luz’s smile had stretched wide, already imaging the kinds of shenanigans she and her friends would get up to running loose in Manhattan. “Obviously! The city’s huge; we could do something new every night!”
“You’ll never be able to get away from us now,” Willow teased, passing Amity an amused look as she sipped from her Sprite. Amity tilted her head back and laughed.
“Oh gods, I better stock up on Advil. Between you three and the twins I’m going to have a constant headache…”
As it started to fade to late August, Luz’s days just kept getting better. Thanks to Eda and her training paired with the other camp activities, she was faster than she’d ever been, she could scale up the rock wall in record times, and her sword skills had gotten incredibly good.
So good, that when the annual sparring tournament came up in the arena towards the end of the summer, she’d been able to knock Boscha into the dirt with the pommel of Aletheia, leaving the red-faced daughter of Ares extremely bitter and her final opponent being none other than her girlfriend.
“No chance you’re going to go easy on me?” Luz asked at the campfire that night, really only half-joking.
“Nope,” Amity replied with a little smirk. “I’ve won this tournament two years in a row. I’m about to make it three.”
To say the camp was buzzing with excitement would be an understatement. The whole camp had watched as Luz the newbie quest hero and Amity Blight had grown obviously closer, and in the three days leading up to the final tournament match, the discussion of which girlfriend would be the winner was as common as asking what the harpies would serve for dessert that night.
“Come on, kid, this is what we trained for!” Eda said, smacking her shoulders encouragingly the night before the match. “I don’t care if she’s you’re little girlfriend, she won’t be going easy on you so you shouldn’t either!”
“Knock her into the dirt!” King screeched from his napping spot on the ground.
While they were only trying to help, it wasn’t the most reassuring advice she’d ever received.
Luz tried to turn a blind eye to the gossip leading up to the fight, but it was hard to ignore Emira and Willow exchange a bet right in front of her at breakfast right before the right.
“Seriously?” Luz scoffed, crossing her arms.
“Sorry Luz, but Mittens has years of training under her belt, and I’m out of allowance,” Emira shrugged while she shook Willow’s hand.
“You don’t see the way Amity acts around her,” Willow retorted. “If she’s like that today, Luz has a good chance.”
Emira hummed, “Shoot. I didn’t think of that.”
“Oh my gods,” Luz groaned, slapping both hands to her face, sinking into the bench of the table, mortified.
Once Luz had been fitted into a set of finally well-fitting bronze armor, she drew Aletheia and met Amity in the center of the field, where Eda and Lilith were standing to referee the match. As she approached, she watched Amity coming from the other side, armor almost identical to Luz’s strapped over an orange camp shirt, the crowd of campers cheering in excitement. As her gaze flitted up to Amity’s eyes, there was a glint that reminded Luz that Amity was not the person she wanted to be on the bad side of.
It was too easy to forget weeks after their quest that Amity was a demigod force to be reckoned with and not the kind of enemy you wanted to have.
As the crowd quieted to an anticipated hum, Lilith raised her hand. Her mouth was cocked in an uncharacteristically juvenile smirk. It made Luz wonder if the campers hadn’t been the only folks at camp to place bets. When Eda shot Luz a cartoonish smile with two thumbs up, before patting her pocket knowingly, it confirmed her suspicions.
Gods. Now she really couldn’t lose. Eda would never forgive her.
“Amity! Luz! Are you ready?”
With a single touch to her own wrist, Dike sprung into its full form, lifted just high enough to cover the grin that was spreading across Amity’s face. She swung her sword experimentally in her hand, the little flecks of a glinting in the sun. “Yep.”
Luz took a deep breath and raised her own blade nodding once. “Ready as I’ll ever be.”
“No holding back, right?” Even though Amity had phrased it as a question, Luz knew better. It was a challenge. The nerves in her stomach faded, and a laugh escaped her lips.
“Since when have I ever held back? ”
She smirked, “good point.”
“Alright your adorable banter is literally making me sick,” Eda scoffed, “let’s just do this already.”
Lilith rolled her eyes, dropping her hand. “Begin!”
Without wasting another beat, Amity charged and swung, and Luz lifted Aletheia to deflect it. A loud metallic clang echoed around the arena, and the watching campers erupted into cheers.
It was Luz’s toughest match yet.
The two of them traded blow for blow, each pushing the other to their limit. Amity was, inarguably, better trained, with mastered precision and skill that left Luz reeling with each strike. But Luz was more creative. She was able to flick her sword at the right angle to push her off balance and shove, she was able to dodge and weave without the extra weight of a shield, and she was crazy enough to take steps closer to her and press into her personal space, forcing her to recalculate moves.
As the fight went on for some time, the cheering got louder, their arms got heavier as they began to slow down, and the fighting got dirtier.
Luz did it first, though it was kind of an accident. Amity went to swing when she’d knocked Luz off balance, and she knew she wasn’t going to be able to stop it before it cut into her armor. Amity would have taken it out on herself later if she’d seriously hurt Luz, so it came out as more of an instinctual shout.
“Too low!”
She closed her eyes bracing for impact, but it never came. With a woosh, the sword went right over her head. She opened her eyes and saw Amity’s misty eyes clearing, before changing to a completely indignant look.
“Did you just use your Hermes bartering on me?”
She smiled sheepishly and swung Aletheia towards her, and Amity barely had time to raise her shield to deflect it.
She could hear the snorts and chuckles from both Eda and the crowd, but Luz barely had time to be proud of herself. Within the next two swings back and forth, Amity got her revenge.
Luz swung upwards, flicking the blade and finally getting a decent move that knocked her off balance. But as Luz went to disarm her, Amity’s eyes flashed and a curled smile crept up her face right as Luz brought her weapon forward.
“Don’t!”
And for a moment, all Luz could feel was the thrum of her heartbeat in her head as her vision went blurry. There was an overwhelming urge to get rid of Aletheia, back away, stop herself from getting any closer to Amity. All she could think about was how she couldn’t hurt her, wouldn’t even try. When her vision cleared, she had backed up five feet, and her sword slipped from her hand and clattered in the dirt.
She blinked, trying to figure out what had just happened before it dawned on her that she’d seen Amity do this once before. Aphrodite’s passion.
Luz looked down at the sword, then up at Amity, scowling. “Really?”
Despite the smirk on her face, Amity’s eyes were sparkling with humor and affection. “You started it.”
Luz barely had time to leap out of the way from another swing, doing her best to make a grab for the sword, but Amity wasn’t coming to play. She stepped right over it, and for a couple of moments, all Luz had was her speed. She ducked and dodged and weaved between swings, doing nothing but buying herself a tiny bit of time.
It wasn’t enough. Luz tried to make one last grab for the sword and Amity reached out with her hand, grabbing Luz by the arm and honest-to-gods judo flipping Luz over her shoulder. With a comically loud “oomph!” Luz was thrown onto her back, looking up at Amity as she grinned, her sword lifted in a faux-threatening position just below her chin.
“Alright,” Luz groaned, slapping her hand against the dirt. “Mercy.”
As Luz heard Eda groaning behind her and Lilith’s positively gleeful “and the winner is Amity Blight!” Amity sheathed her sword, reaching down with one hand and pulling Luz up to her feet.
And yeah, it was a tiny bit embarrassing to lose to Amity. But as her girlfriend lifted her fist to the roaring crowd of campers and grinned, her own hand wrapped tightly around Luz’s, she couldn’t find it in her to care.
The following night was Luz’s last night at camp before her first summer as a camper was over. She sat at the dining hall for hours with her siblings, joking, laughing, promising to stay in touch over the school year. Viney ruffled her hair and passed her an emergency pouch of Hermes tricks, while Jerbo reminded her not to be too close to this one when it exploded.
Edric and Emira snuck up on Luz at the table and informed them their parents did in fact enroll them in the same boarding school come the fall, and while Luz loved Amity’s twin siblings, the devious grin on her face did make her a bit nervous.
Right after dinner, Luz made a point to go find Eda and King, who were in their usual spot at the arena.
“Kid!” Eda said as she approached. “That was some great swordplay today.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t win, I know Lilith is probably giving you a hard time…” Luz said immediately, but Eda just held up a hand.
“Gross, sympathy. You’ve accomplished more than most first-timers this summer, and you’ve… made me proud.” There was a crooked smile on her face as Luz looked up at her, and she realized that Eda really was going to miss training with her. “Don’t be slacking while you’re gone. Keep your skills sharp. Stay out of the bad trouble, but in the good trouble. Don’t die. Oh, and if you’re getting chased by another empousai and need a quick getaway, there’s a great alley on sixty-second street-”
Luz rushed in, pulling Eda into a tight hug. While Eda huffed out a little groan at Luz’s overwhelming need to be touchy, Luz felt a rush of affection as the daughter of Zeus leaned into it anyway.
“Thanks, Eda,” Luz muttered into her shoulder.
A hand came up to pat into her hair. “No problem, kid. If Lili and I are ever heading to Mount Olympus, I’ll make sure we stop by that fancy new school of yours and say hello.”
“You better.”
"Can I come too?" King called out from at their feet, and Luz bent down to pick up the tiny hellhound scratching behind his ears.
"Yeah, can he?" Luz pleaded, and Eda rolled her eyes.
"Gods, you two are just the cutest things ever. Fine, whatever, the next time I go to Olympus I'll let him tag along."
After a chorus of excited cheering from Luz and King, it was time for the last campfire of the year. Luz finally got the true Camp Half-Blood experience. As Eda was leading the campers in a final last hurrah of songs and games, she walked over to Luz and reached out, handing her a leather necklace.
“As you all know, per tradition, every year we give our campers a bead to celebrate another year at camp. This year, the Hermes cabin designed the beads, and there is someone very special they wanted to honor.”
Luz blinked at it, taking it gingerly, and as she did Viney stood up, the twisted smile on her face visible through the crackling orange, magical, campfire.
“Luz, not only are you our newest sibling, but you helped lead a quest that not only saved Camp Half-Blood but all of Olympus. So with permission from the councilors from all the cabins, we dedicate this year’s bead to you and your quest!”
There was a whooping of applause as the beads were passed out, and when Luz took a look at it her heart clenched, affection and gratitude washing over her in a whirl.
It was a beautiful deep purple bead with a very familiar-looking sword and shield, and as she turned it in the light of the campfire, the glint of the light made it glow a beautiful magical bronze.
“So, did we nail it?” Viney asked as Luz was left speechless. Willow and Gus were grinning over at her with knowing smiles. Next to her, Amity squeezed her hand, looking just as emotional as Luz felt.
Luz leaned over and threw herself into the embrace of her half-sister, and the campfire erupted into more whoops and cheers. And yeah, Luz might have teared up a bit as she sat back down next to her friends, but if anybody noticed they didn’t comment on it.
That morning as she packed up what few belongings she actually had, electing to leave a majority of the items she’d bought for next summer, she was digging through her backpack when her fingers touched something soft. She pulled out a stiff, slick, feather, and immediately broke into a smile. Carefully sliding it across the leather to dangle right next to her bead, she clipped the necklace on and slung her backpack over her shoulder. Saying one final goodbye to the Hermes cabin, she walked out the door to go meet Willow and Gus in the strawberry fields.
When she got there, she couldn’t help but grin. Around the growing collection of beads on their necklaces, five and four respectively, a single matching feather was dangling from the middle. While none of them said anything about it at first, Luz watched as both Willow and Gus glanced down, their eyes softening with affection.
“Well?” Willow asked as she reached them, gesturing towards the now distant Camp Half-Blood. “Give us the verdict. What did you think of your first year at camp?”
“I…” Luz didn’t even know what to say. Sure, there had been the lows. The hungry belly as she traveled across the Midwest, the sword slashes, the monsters, the horrible villain who’d threatened to destroy the world. But right now as Luz looked between her friends and her new home, she felt nothing but love for her new life. The mischievous half-siblings, the rivals between the cabins, the eccentric camp directing duo that was the daughters of Zeus, Gus, Willow, Amity…
Luz couldn’t ever recall a time in her entire life that she’d felt so full.
“All I can think right now is that I don’t want it to end,” Luz finally said, and Willow and Gus stepped forward to pull her into a group hug.
“It won’t end, at least, not really,” Gus promised, his voice muffled as he was shoved into Luz’s bicep.
“Yeah, it’s just a short break,” Willow nodded, leaning her head against Luz’s shoulder and wrapping her other arm around Gus. “And in two weeks, we’ll all be together again on a new adventure.”
Luz laughed, “yeah, because the life of a half-blood is never really quiet, is it?”
“Well, that’s half the fun of it,” Amity said from behind her, and when Luz turned her head she saw her girlfriend walking through the field to join them. Her own backpack was swung over her shoulder, and she had a genuine, at peace, smile on her face.
“Spoken like a true Blight,” Willow chuckled from next to Luz, and Amity laughed.
“Well, maybe I’ll get lucky and this year away from my parents will shake some of that out of me.”
“You’re sure you’re mom and dad are okay with you staying at my Mami’s for two weeks?” Luz asked for what felt like the sixth time that week, and Amity shrugged her shoulders.
“I’m back to being their number one, despite all the… drama, that happened the last time we saw them. Edric and Emira will pack my things for school for me. Honestly… it’s kind of nice not going back to Colorado.”
After getting a first-hand glimpse into how uptight and uncomfortable the Blight Manor was, Luz couldn’t help but agree.
“Don’t have too much fun you two,” Willow teased, and Amity flushed over the sound of Gus’ laugher while Luz bumped her with her shoulder.
Whatever retort Luz would have come up with died in her throat as she looked down towards the pine tree. There, a few parents were already waiting at the border, with some campers joining them and saying hello. Among the waiting ones, Luz saw a man almost identical to Gus, and two other men standing together with their hands interlinked.
“We better not keep them waiting,” Gus said slowly, but he looked back up at Luz with a frown. Willow was standing there as well, and for just another moment Luz felt that same rush of love.
“No, you shouldn’t. Amity and I will meet you at grand central in two weeks, okay?”
“Two weeks,” Willow affirmed, and Luz pulled the four of them into one last group hug before Willow and Gus grabbed their things and went to go join their parents at the pine tree.
It wasn’t a real goodbye, nowhere near it. But Luz couldn’t help but feel her throat close up at the sight of them reuniting with their parents. Gus’ dad scooped him up into the biggest hug, and one of Willow’s dads immediately took her backpack while the other one kissed her cheek.
She felt Amity’s warm hand close around hers, and when she looked back, the daughter of Aphrodite was smiling softly.
“It’s going to be okay.”
“I know,” Luz said, and she meant it. She squeezed her own hand around Amity’s, taking a moment to really let the gratitude she had for this camp, for these people, sink in.
It wasn’t long until she saw another familiar person join the other parents near the pine tree. Luz perked up immediately at the sight of her Mami, still dressed in her scrubs. She’d probably gotten off of a shift at the hospital and rushed all the way down to Long Island just to meet her and was looking around anxiously at the other gathering parents and campers.
“Is that her?” Amity sounded nervous, and when she looked over, she was reaching up with her other hand to self-consciously adjust her mint green hair.
“She’s going to love you,” Luz promised, giving her a reassuring kiss on the cheek. “She’s been talking about how excited she’s been to meet you for like, three weeks.”
“That… somehow makes me even more nervous,” Amity breathed out. Luz chuckled, adjusting the straps of her backpack over her shoulder as her Mami finally looked up and noticed them. She beamed so widely Luz could see it from all the way up in the strawberry hills, waving towards them.
“Well, then let’s do this together.”
Amity looked back at her one more time, taking a deep breath. “Alright. Together.”
And as they walked through the fields hand in hand, slowly getting farther and farther away from camp, Luz felt her anxieties about the coming months slowly begin to fade. That was part of the magic of Camp Half-Blood. The place wasn’t just a training ground for young demigods. It was a safe haven. A family. A place that, even miles and miles away from it, you always knew it would have your back. It would be there for you, whenever you wanted to return. So leaving it didn’t feel like a goodbye, not really.
Instead, it was the promise of another new beginning as a child of the gods.

_____________
Flashback September 2011
Des Moine, Iowa.
Paige and Kate get taken to the Des Moine police station for questioning.
Mandy is under temporary house arrest, but will have charges of child abuse and neglect on her.
“Has your mother ever abused you?” an officer asks Paige.
She shakes her head, “No, she’s never hit me, or my sister”.
In another room, an officer asks Kate, “Has your mother ever neglected you?”.
“No” she quietly answers, shaking her.
“You don’t have to protect her. You can tell us and you won't have to be scared anymore” the officer tells her.
Back to the elder sister.
“My mom has never hit me, or my sister” Paige tells the officer.
“Then how do you explain the scars and bruises on your arms and hands?!” the officer asks.
“I got into a fight” she explains, “I was protecting my sister from some stupid bitch boy bully”.
He raises his eyebrows at her, and asks “A junior high school bully did that to you?”.
She nods, and tells the cop “Yes, he was some stupid typical bully. Picking on my small sister, and I fucked him up because he deserved it. Kate doesn’t deserve the treatment she gets from some of the kids at school”.
Back to the youngest sister.
“Your mother has never hit you?” the cop asks, “Ever abandoned you?”.
She shakes her head, “No”.
“What are the wounds on your arms?” she asks.
Knowing she can’t tell the truth because the wounds she and her sister have are from a vampire attack. They were ambushed, they were able to fight them off but were left bruised and wounded afterwards.
“They-they were from a bully” she tells the female cop, “From school”.
Back to the elder sister.
“Are you afraid of losing your family?” he asks Paige, “Afraid you’ll be torn away from them?”.
She looks him in the eye, not even blinking and says, “The only thing I’m afraid of is dying alone. Unloved, and unwanted”.
_________
At the end of her rope, Mandy doesn’t know what to do anymore. She doesn’t want to sit back, and watch Joseph hurt innocent people anymore.
She knows she has to do something about this. She goes for a drive through the Whitetails to clear her mind. She stops at the side of the road, and walks up a grassy hill. Overlooking the mountains.
Standing towards the edge, letting the cool breeze fly past her. Feeling at peace for once. Also figuring out how she’s gonna get out of this whole mess with the Cult without Chuck’s acknowledgement.
Her help comes when she hears a pistol cock behind her, and a woman’s voice.
“Don’t move” she orders her. Mandy puts her hands up. Walking forward with her hands still up with her back to the woman.
“You’re one of them, aren’t you?” she asks, “You a peggie?”.
“I’m not a peggie” Mandy responds.
The lady scoffs, “Bullshit. I know who you are. You’re “The Mother”, Amanda Campbell”.
Mandy rolls her eyes, “My real name is Mandeline Winchester, and I’m an undercover FBI agent”.
The lady scoffs back, “Yeah sure, anything to get your ass out of trouble huh?”.
She hits Mandy in the back of her head with her pistol, knocking her out. She takes her inside a bunker and ties her up to a chair with a sack over her head.
She wakes up an hour later, tied up. She can hear the faint voices of two people, a man and a woman. Sounding like they’re having some sort of disagreement.
With the sack still over her head, she tries to pry herself out of her restraints. Then the door opens.
“It’s useless to do that” she tells Mandy.
“What do you want?!” she asks her.
“I could tell you the fucking same thing” she responds, “Where are you lurking around the Wolf’s Den?!”.
The door opens again and she hears a man’s voice, “Tammy what are you doing?!” he asks.
“Damn it Eli I’m in the middle of an interrogation!” she tells him.
He scoffs and asks Mandy, “Who are you? Why are you lurking around our bunker?!?”.
She sighs, “I told you already. I didn’t know there was a bunker here, I was just wandering around, clearing my head”.
“You’re with the Cult? Aren’t ya?” Eli asks.
She sighs again, “Yes I’m with the Cult, but I’m trying to get out. I don't know if you heard or not, but I’m The Mother. I’m trying to get out but my boss is telling me to stay with Joseph”.
“Your boss?!?” Tammy questions her.
“I told you. I’m an undercover agent and I’m trying to get out of the Cult” she further explains to them, “I was hired as a double agent to bring them all down”.
Eli removes the sack off her head, “What kind of agent?”.
“FBI, I have my badge in my truck” she tells them.
Tammy and Eli look over at each other, “Where’s your truck?” he asks, turning back to Mandy.
“It’s parked down by the road at the end of the hill” she tells them.
Eli goes to open the door, “Try not to kill her” he tells Tammy before closing the door and leaving.
An hour later, Eli returns with Mandy’s stuff, he enters the same room as before.
“Well turns out she is an FBI agent” he tells Tammy as he walks into the room. He hands her the badge.
“Special Agent Mandeline W. Campbell” she says as she reads the fake, but also very realistic looking FBI badge that she had made from Keekos with the help of her two nephews.
“The W means Winchester. I have two last names, my maiden and by a past marriage” she tells them.
Eli goes to untie her, “What are you doing?!?!” Tammy asks, getting irritated.
“This proves we can trust her” he tells her as he unties Mandy.
“Are fucking serious?!?” she protests, “She could be a fraud?!?”.
“If you wanna call my boss, her number is on the back of my badge” she tells them.
Mandy grabs her phone from her bag and calls her “boss” who is actually her younger sister Marie. Since they have different phone numbers for different reasons.
Putting it on speaker phone, it rings a couple times, and she hears her little sister’s voice.
“Director Irwin” she answers.
Mandy clears her voice, “Hey boss, I’m calling to check in”.
Marie plays along with her sister's skeem, “Agent Campbell, how’s the investigation with the Seed mission?”.
“It’s going great, I have enough information to put on file to charge the whole family but I still have a lot to do before completing the mission” she tells her “boss”.
“Okay good. We still need everything. All counts, document everything. Every little thing, Joseph and his family do. So we can send in the national guard after them and put them all away” she replies.
“I will do that, and I’ll get back to you once I have everything” she tells her “boss” and hangs up. Showing Tammy that she is 100% legit.
“I told you, I’m not a fraud. That was my boss, Head FBI Director Diana Irwin of Phoenix” she tells them,”I was sent to be a part of the Cult to get dirt on them and have them all sent away”.
Eli shrugs, “Well you don’t need to convince me”.
Tammy groans, rolling her eyes, “Okay fine, I guess you’re not a fraud” and she leaves the room.
Eli shows Mandy around the Wolf’s Den, and meets a young Native boy.
“And this is Wheaty” he introduces her to the young boy who is looking through a milk crate of vinyl albums, and looks around 12-14 years old. About the same age as her youngest daughter Kate.
“Hi Wheaty, I’m Mandy” she introduces herself.
“Hi” he mutters, giving her a soft smile.
“She’s gonna help us with the Cult” Eli tells the young boy, “Put an end to them”
“I’m an FBI agent” she tells him, “I’m working undercover, well more like a double agent”.
His eyes light up, filling with hope. “See” Mandy shows him her badge. They leave him be, letting him look through the crate of vinyls records.
“Where are his parents?” she asks Eli. He sighs, “They were killed by the Cult, I was close friends with his parents, and I took him in after they were killed”.
“Wow, that’s sad to hear” she mutters, looking over at the young boy “I lost custody of my daughters several months ago. He looks like he could be around the same age as my youngest daughter. My husband died in a house fire 13 years ago”.
“I’m sorry to hear about that” he tells her.
“How long ago did they kill his parents?” she asks him.
Eli thinks for a few moments, “A few years ago. He was lucky to get away, before they got him”.
*******
A few hours later, Mandy returns to Joseph’s region and goes about “her job” and get “more dirt” on the family. Fearing that Chuck might have seen, heard everything, and is now working with the Whitetail Militia.
Mandy goes inside hers and Joseph's shared home, and calls Barbara asking if she can find anything that’ll help her stay off of celestial radar, and that includes God as well.
After a few hours, Barb calls her back with some good news, and she found something that’ll help her.
“Hey Barb so what did you find?” she asks her friend over the phone.
“It’s a spell, but it’s a very difficult one and you’re gonna need help with it” Barbara tells her. Mandy sighs, “That’s fine, I can get help with it. What’s the spell?”.
She sighs, “Like I said it's complicated. It’s an old invisibility spell. Invocation of Invisibility is the name, it must be said in Enochian”.
“Okay that’s fine what are the verses?” Mandy asks.
“The ritual is Uranun Caripe Baglen Olgemeganza de-Noan Chiis Gosaa Zamicmage Oleol Ag-Sapah arphe, Oresa ethamz taa, Tabegisoroch, Zodinu, Ar zurah paremu. Zodimibe papnorge maninua zonac. Dodsih hoxmarch trian amonons pare Das Niis kures. I’ll send you the words in a few minutes” Barbara tells her the ritual in Enochian.
“Okay thanks a lot Barb” she thanks her.
“No problem, I’ll send you the verses for the ritual in a bit” she tells her and hangs up.
gets a visit from Raphael shortly after her call with Barbara, but he was in a different vessel instead of his usual male vessel.
“Mandy” he says, in a different voice. She turns around and sees a woman in a power suit.
“Raphael?!” she questions her. Unsure if this is her Archangel or another one of Heaven’s warriors. She slowly approaches her, “Yes, I had to change vessels” the Archangel explains to her.
“Umm that’s fine. I guess” she stammers, “Where have you been?”.
Raphael sighs, “Heaven, other than your work here. Chuck has been creating other universes”.
“Other universes? For what?” she questions her.
Shrugging, “I don’t know. He doesn’t tell us much about his work”.
“Well I have some good news” she tells him/her, “I got a spell that can help keep me off of Chuck’s and other celestials radar”.
The look of relief on the 3rd Archangel’s face, “What’s the spell?”.
“Invocation of Invisibility” she tells him/her, “It’s said in Enochian, and I’m pretty sure Dawana can help me with it”.
He/she sighs, “Okay good because I know it keeps getting worse and worse for you down here. I know what happened to you with the Militia”.
Her eyes widened, “You-you saw all of that?!?”.
He/she nods, “Yes, good thing Chuck is too focused on creating new universes because he would’ve ended everything with you. Killing you and casting me out of Heaven’.
Mandy lets out a relieved sigh, “Okay, okay good. If it stays that way then I can get myself out of this without Chuck finding out a thing”.
Raphael nods, “Good, I’ll go back to Heaven and I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on everything down here”.
He/she disappears and goes back up to Cloud City. Mandy contacts Dawana asking her for help with the Invisibility spell.
The Voodoo Priestess agrees to go through with the spell, but she tells her it has to be done on a New Moon at 3am. It'll help with being hidden from the man upstairs and his angels.
The next New Moon will be within 1 month to that day. Until then Mandy must go through her usual route of being The Mother. Staying close to Joseph as his bride, until the New Moon arrives.
________
6:00am, the next morning Mandy wakes up with Joseph’s arm around her.
Brushing her hair away from her face, gently kissing the nape of her neck and shoulder.
Whispering sweet nothings into her ear. “You’re beautiful, my light, my bride”.
Entwining their hands together, his normal size hands covering her small hands. He plants a kiss on her lips, turning her to face him in bed.
“I love you, my love” he whispers, moving her hair behind her ear.
“I love you too” she tells him, and gives him a kiss on the lips. Spending the next hour in bed, holding each other. Being like a usual married couple, but with this case their “marriage” is not 100% legit.

Breaking through it pt 1
(this is a kiribaku Martial arts AU with trans kirishima. I do not own any canon bnha characters or the show)
Kirishima was excited yet nervous at the same time, he was finally getting back into martial arts again. Kirishima or Ijima was his first name, Kirishima hated his first name. Being transgender, his mother did not accept this at all and practically ignored, and forced her own ideas and visions of Ijima onto him. The only compromise was Kirishima didn't have to be called by his first name by other people.
Riding in the back seat sitting next to Mina who was happy for him. "So Kiri you excited to continue MA again hun?" Asked Mrs Ashido who was in the driver's seat, Kirishima nods with a wide smile. "I really am, thank you so much Mrs Ashido." "You're welcome honey" Mrs Ashido worked near by the martial arts place, at a coffee shop a few steps away.
Mrs Kirishima Ito, huffed and fussed, crossing her arms and legs. Making Mina and Kirishima roll their eyes before the woman started up again. "Are you sure you want to do this Ij? Why can't you just go back to the other place?" "Because I'm not wasting my time to be harassed by women who I don't trust, hurt me on purpose, and are just toxic in general." He stated firmly not wanting to add detail since he knew that he didn't want to continue the conversation. "Well you are a young women, they're the same age as you and they were just messing with you." When they arrived Mrs Ashido heads to her own work while Mina, Ito and Kirishima head into the martial arts studio. Kirishima had a bag that held his brown belt, water bottle, phone, and anything else he'd need. Walking inside all Ito sees are boys on the mat, wrestling around, doing forms, punching and kicking and just doing their work they were obviously younger while the older boys were on the side stretching. "Ij I don't like this" Kirishima ignored her and looked around curiously until a tall blond with a black gi and a black belt was in view. "Ah she must be a teacher" Ito smiles while approaching the person, tapping them from behind. "excuse me ma'am-" She froze when they turned around, seeing the small mustache they had on. "Ah hello Ma'am" "o-oh s-sorry sir, are you the teacher?" Obviously embarrassed of herself for mis-gendering the person who could potentially be her daughter's teacher. "Well I am one of them yes, also don't worry I've been called ma'am before. I do not care what pronouns my students or parents use." Confused Ito blinked but just spoke again.
"Well my daughter is new here, I don't know who I spoke to over the phone but I'm Mrs Kirishima." "Ah I believe we spoke on the phone, yes I'm Hizashi Yamada."  They shook hands with sweet smiles, then Ito looks to Ijima and gestures him to come over. Ijima quickly comes over "Hello" "Hi-" "this is my daughter Ijima Kirishima, but. she likes to be called her last name for some reason?" Hizashi got a strange vibe from the woman but pushed it aside to remain professional.
"Ah alright, so you've done martial arts before?" "y-yes sir" Nods Kirishima who tells Hizashi that he has his belt and what he'd previously trained on. Hizashi's sixth sense was turning on as he noticed how Kirishima acted around Ito so he wanted to try something. "Mrs Kirishima, I would like to talk to your child so I can know what skills they'd need to be caught up on, and what they're comfortable with as a martial artist so i know how we can merge them into the class. I also need to get them a uniform." Ito was about to protest but Mina took her away to the lobby area. Leaving Ijima and Hizashi alone to talk. With a huff Hizashi looks down at a timid Ijima "Kiddo, would you like to explain why you switched studios?" Kirishima bites his lip and softly spoke up. "i-I w-went to an all girl's martial arts place and I didn't connect with them very well. The girls bullied me and were just toxic and I couldn't do it..I didn't feel like I could be myself there at all." Nodding Hizashi puts a hand on his shoulder "I know how you feel bud." With a raised brow Hizashi only chuckled at the younger's expression. "I'm genderfluid I'm also pansexual, and I was never comfortable with myself and those who I was forced to interact with because I couldn't be myself...Now that I'm here I don't have to worry about it as much. I go as Mic Sensei since its a genderfluid nickname I'd come up with...now what are your preferred pronouns?"
Kirishima was honestly surprised to meet a teacher who was like him in a way. He hesitantly answered in case his mother could hear. "H-he/him, but can go by they/them as well. I haven't really given myself a name I want so i just go by my last name." "ah alright, well-" Hizashi smiles as he hears the door open and a small yawn. "Good he's here, just in time." Hizashi mutters, Ijima looked perplexed then turning to see a tall male. With ash blonde hair that resembled a Pomeranian's hair style, he had ruby red eyes that matched Kirishima's, he had nonchalant look on his face while he sipped on his coffee. "Oi Katsuki!" Called out Mic Sensei, looking over, the ash blonde raised a brow setting down his coffee. Mic Sensei gestured for him to over which he did, arms folded and bag slung over his shoulder. "Yes sensei?" "Katsuki this is Kirishima, they're a new student who transferred from a different studio. Kirishima this is Bakugou Katsuki. I figured that since i knew you'd come and you seem like a good guy, that you'd be able to mentor Kirishima." Katsuki peered down at Kirishima who was being a bit shy, Katsuki did has casual. "Tch, sure thing Sensei, want me to get him a uniform?" "Great and yes, also show Kirishima to the changing room after he finds a cubby to put his shoes and bag in." With this, Katsuki turns to go towards the cubbies which allows Kirishima to follow.
Taking out his brown belt and slipping off his shoes and socks, Ito comes over before they can go. "Ij who is this?" Kirishima jumped a little and stuttered "m-my mentor" Ito just had a look of worry "why is your mentor a boy?" Katsuki sneered and grumbled "why does is matter? Martial arts is a mix gendered sport, don't get any ideas." He says while grabbing Kirishima by the wrist and then taking him away from Ito and to a cabinet to get a uniform. Taking him to the changing area after finding a black gi with red sleeve and black pants. Ijima take the uniform and goes into the changing room. Taking off his shorts and leaving on his top, that was just a tank top that hid his bust held by a sports bra, and his hips that were covered by bandage like ribbons. Ijima was self-conscious about his body and his dysphoria was awful at times so he used doubling up on sports bras and tying up his curves to make himself feel better. So when he put the gi on, it felt just right. It was big enough to hide his chest making it flat, and the belt made it even better as did the pants. Coming out while tying some of his hair up so it was out of the way. Bakugou looks to Kirishima while leaning against the wall, he stood up all and motioned him over. "Come on lets go, our class is next." Bowing onto the mat the just as other students came on.
They were soon called to gather up at the front, line up by belt rank and stand at attention. Kirishima rushed to his spot in line and followed suit, then the main teacher Shota Aizawa came onto the mat with his partner Hizashi not far behind. Mr Aizawa took front and center; "Good morning students, now lets bow in and we'll get this going...Attention. bow. face the flags..meditation." the students followed his commands quietly, kirishima did his best to copy. It was ten seconds before they were permitted to leave their meditation stance. "Alright, I've been told that we have a new student." Kirishima shyly raised his hand, he was then beckoned forwards by Mic Sensei saying "step forwards lil listener" he was then given permission to introduce himself. "I-I'm Ijima Kirishima but would prefer to be called Kirishima instead of Ijima." "I see you already have your brown belt Kirishima, so you have experience prior to coming here I take it?" "y-yes sir, I went to a different place but because I didn't enjoy it I took a break and decided to come here." "Well then Kirishima welcome to UA black belt academy or some just say UA academy.. Now that we've got introductions out of the way, five laps behind Tenya please." The group chants "yes sir" before taking off while Hizashi and Shota talk about their plans to teach class. When their laps were finished the students were asked to stretch out together while Hizashi walked around. The duo came up with the conclusion to ask the students what they'd like to work on see what they could work into class for them. Right now Bakugou was stretching with Kirishima who was practically in the splits. "jeez Kirishima you're really flexible" Complimented Midoriya "Thank you, I've been working on my upper body while my lower seemed more natural." Kirishima moved over and does a press hand stand into a scorpion like position which had the class staring. "Dang Kirishima I thought we were stretching?" Chuckled Kaminari, Kirishima blushed "This stretches my back out for me." Bakugou couldn't help but stare either even as the other came down and stretched out some more till. Mic Sensei came over with a wide smile "so lil listeners what do you think we should do today?" Quickly Denki blurts out "Mits Mits!" "oh alright you guys haven't done that in a while. Anything else?" Uraraka raised her hand "yes?" "conditioning?" "ooh that'd be great would you also like to do grappling and sparring?" The group nods at the suggestion of their assistant teacher, Kirishima seemed curious at to what the plans were. "Alright I will tell Mr Aizawa, why don't you kiddos get your gloves on." Standing up they respond with a 'yes sensei' and scurry off. Kirishima goes over to his bag after bowing off his mom comes over while he's looking for his gloves. "Ij what are you guys doing?" "uh I believe something like boxing I guess, uh I don't know what conditioning is, but we're sparring and grappling?" "w-wait what's grappling?" "Its like sparring but a little more close and in your face and on the ground."
Kirishima couldn't find them, and just frowned. "Oi" Kirishima looked up to see Bakugou holding out a pair or orange and black MMA mits. "here you can barrow my spares" blushing Kirishima gratefully took them with a stupid smile on his face. "thank you B-Bakugou" "yeah whatever, come on I'll help you out when we line up." Before Ito can question anything, Bakugou takes Ijima to the group that was split into two groups. Sensei mic had Izuku, Ochako, and Denki while Mr Aizawa had Tenya, Hitoshi, Tsu, Shoto, and Hanta.
"Katsuki and Kirishima you two will be in my line." Informed the long haired blond who had on big black and white mits that looked like Panda paws. Hurrying over to Hizashi's line, Bakugou was in front of Kirishima. Watching from where he stood, Kirishima looked amazed at how fast and how hard they were hitting the thick mits the teachers wear. When it was Bakugou's turn Hizashi tells Bakugou to slow down so Kirishima can see it better. "This is the back fist pattern watch carefully bud." Earning a nod in acknowledgement Bakugou started the pattern. After Bakugou finished it was kirishima's turn, he got in his fighting stance and tried the pattern with the help of Bakugou. "Back fist, punch, parry.."Kirishima did as the mentor said and waited for the next set of instructions. "Back fist, check-" "wait sorry what's a check?" Kirishima was a bit happy that his instructor and mentor was patient but was nervous that he'd just asked a stupid question. "A check is basically a block to protect your head, your temple." Sensei Mic explained showing Kirishima what it looks like, which the red haired one copied. Which led to Mic sending a decent  haymaker which was blocked by the check move Kirishima was doing. "Good, we'll add more later, head to the back for me." Kirishima moves out of the way so Izuku can go next. Kirishima was proud of himself for getting his first pattern down, he also like that Sensei mice wasn't hitting so soft. After the mits Mr Aizawa told the kids to get a drink and prepare to do some grappling. Kirishima was about to return the mits to Bakugou until Bakugou tells him "you'll need them the rest of the day trust me" "Ah okay thank you Bakugou" Kirishima went over to drink from his water bottle. "How ya liking it Kiri?" Asked mina "I love it, they seem pretty nice. I've done grappling before at the other place but, I wouldn't call it grappling." Kirishima's eyes sparkled with joy as he looked down at the gloves he wore. It made his hand feel bigger even though they were smaller, he had longer fingers than Bakugou. Coming back onto the mat the teachers started pairing them up.
"Ochako and Asui, Izuku and Shoto, and Iida and Hitoshi. You will be out first rounds while the others can stretch, you will be shuffled around so don't get comfortable with your partners. If you aren't grappling or sparring for the time being you will be doing conditioning or extra stretching with your partner. So that leaves Kirishima, Katsuki, Hanta, and Denki." So the groups did what they were instructed, Bakugou looked to Kirishima. "Do you know what 'conditioning' is?" Kirishima shook his head so Bakugou went on to explain. "Conditioning is basically teaching you to take a hit, and not be a darn drama queen about." "ah that sounds cool" "So lets get started then, stand in your fighting stance but put your hands over your head and stand tall." Kirishima does as told not exactly knowing that he was in a good view for his mother to see. Bakugou delivered a good round house to his stomach, it wasn't meant to cause any really devastating pain only to toughen him up. It did make Kirishima grunt and grimace and had Ito yelling across the mat. "What the heck are you doing why are you kicking my daughter!?!!" Kirishima was blushing furiously while his mother went off on Bakugou. "Mom I'm fine-" "Boys should not be hitting girls what the heck is wrong with you!?!!" This was more directed to the now irritated blond who just furrowed his brows and folded his arms over his chest. The yelling attracted lots of attention, so Mr Aizawa came over to settle the frantic mother who was trying to tug Kirishima away from Bakugou.
"Ma'am is there a problem?" Started Shota, yanking Ijima into her arms Ito nods "Yes there is, why is my daughter's mentor a boy and why is he hitting her?" Aizawa huffed and explained it to her "Martial arts is a mix gendered sport, Katsuki over here is experienced and has good control when it comes to his technique. The fact that he's a male doesn't deter anything. Although martial arts is a mix gendered sports it is male dominated but we do have other girls and women here. I take it that Sensei Mic knew Katsuki's skills would be good for your child to learn from. The two are doing a thing called condition which will give Kirishima experience in how to react when being hit. It teaches them how to react and to toughen up a little. I believe that Katsuki knows his limits and would never purposely hurt Kirishima." "I..I just don't feel comfortable with this, why can't any of the other girls train with her?" Her voice was almost like a whining child, it annoyed the raven haired male but he didn't express that. "Because they are not the same rank, Kirishima will be able to train with them of course this is only temporary. I understand your concern on boys hitting girls but, boys hit girls outside in the real world. Girls hit boys in the real world. We are here to teach the students how to protect themselves and others, how to react to such scenarios, and how to pass on from them. We are teaching them real life skills and what real life will be like. Real life is not girls getting special treatment just because they are girls that is not how its going to work here." Kirishima manages to slip from his mother's grip and quietly, Bakugou asked
"you okay?" "Yes just wasn't used to being hit like that, sorry." Mr Aizawa and Mina were able to calm Ito down, she just pouted and marched back to her seat. Folding her arms over her chest and then she went on her phone. So with that both Kirishima and Bakugou went back to conditioning and were soon sparring. Which was something Kirishima seemed to be pretty good at. He had a great amount of flexibility which allowed him to easily place high kicks, though since he was shorter than Bakugou it was a little hard to get close. When they were given a small break, Mr Aizawa gave the students pointers. "If you are shorter than your opponent, get in close. You want to try and cut them off. If the taller one is cut off you have the advantage to do as you please with in the sport's legality. Remember stay light on your feet and do not stay in one place that makes you an easy target no matter your size. Also never drop your hands that's just letting your opponent win. Got it, any questions?" The students were quiet and only shook their heads no, Mr Aizawa then went over the positives. "You all have good forms and great technique which I'm proud of, you're all taking your hits well too. Keep it up and try out the critiques." After speaking those words, Hizashi smiles to his partner patting him on the shoulder as a way of quiet encouragement. Finally practice was coming to an end, after grappling the teachers gave their students another stretch break to allow their bodies a cool down. Which certainly did help and felt really good for Kirishima, today was rough but honestly he liked it apart from his mother's input. Bowing out, Kirishima came over to a certain red eyed blonde who was packing his bag. Tapping his shoulder he bowed, holding out the gloves Bakugou had let him barrow. "Thank you for your help Bakugou, also thank you for the gloves." Bakugou couldn't help but blush and said in a low tone "you don't have to bow to me dude." This had both of them blushing but more so Kirishima who now felt embarrassed "S-sorry force of habit I guess" Bakugou took his gloves with a "you're welcome, also what days will you be coming in?" "Uh I honestly don't know, I'll pick up a schedule and see." Bakugou then got out his phone "well let me have your number" this with out much context only made them both flustered, Bakugou realized his mistake when he noticed the confusion on Ijima's face.
"S-so I can know whether we're in the same class or whatever" He finished while awkwardly scratching the back of his neck, Kirishima nods and goes to grab his phone from his bag. The two soon trade numbers and now Ijima is off to thank his instructors. Approaching the long haired couple who were cleaning up he bowed. "thank you both so much, I enjoyed class so much" Both smile to the student; "You're quite welcome Kirishima, we're glad you liked your first day here." started Sensei Mic, while Aizawa's stern face softened to his new student. "We hope you're able to continue to train here." With that, Kirishima went over to put on his shoes and grab his bag, he looks to Mina and Ito. "I'm ready to go" Mina smiles looking up at him Ito sighed "alright then lets go"
